I been to the one in NYC and then ended up staying at hotel next to this one, so went with my colleagues. It almost fells like a deja vu as it looks almost the same just a bit smaller. it has almost the same vibe which is not bad. Decor is quite nice with Asian inspiration and atmosphere starts peaceful and then starts to amp up during the night and depending on weekday you visit. We got some starters that were very good and then our main course where I had grilled tuna. Both starter and main was really good. Service was exceptional and friendly and all in all this was a good dinner. Might come back as there were more choices on the menu I would like to explore.

I love Tao, the ambience is great, the big statue of Buddha, Amazing!! the decoration in general it’s beautiful. The food in Tao NYC was always delicious but sadly here in LA this last time I went wasn’t as good, the side dishes were not as good also the main dishes but I will still go back for the cool ambiance and great service! Must try the fortune cookie 😊

If you love Asian Cuisine and a great atmosphere, TAO Los Angeles is the place to be. The cocktails and cuisine are exquisite, the mandarin orange chicken is sinful. On the expensive side but totally worth it. Will return!!

Be prepared to give your credit card before even having a sip of your drink or a taste your food...in case you wanna leave without paying...they also do not answer the phone, or just hang up...food is average, prices stratospheric...nice staff and millions in the decor never made a restaurant a good one !

To put our review into context we are staying in the attached dream Hollywood hotel until wed 27th (9 nights in total). We went to Tao again last night, after such an amazing experience previously on Friday 22nd. On the Friday we told the restaurant it was our first wedding anniversary, so seated on table 5 on staircase which was great. We had a male waiter who was chatty, friendly and so helpful. We were treated so well, free bubbles at the end and anniversary special complimentary desserts. The food was amazing! However we returned last night Mon 25th sept and we're seated below which was fine. We were greeted by a female waitress who was ok but not as chatty or knowledgeable as previous experience. We felt the service was more rushed and she seemed to keep asking if I wanted another cocktail which I didn't. Also straight after we ordered starters she seemed pushy to order the main, when we hadn't had a chance to look at what we wanted! We wanted to take our time and enjoy the meal, but felt we were rushed. Also the waitress asked if we wanted ice water also with our other drinks and we said yes but this never turned up. Later we asked for this and got no apology for forgetting, which seemed a bit strange. We had mains and went onto dessert and without asking the bill appeared in the table the waitress said no rush (but we felt pressure to leave). The bill was just over $160 and we left just over $5 tip due to the fact the service wasn't anywhere near the previous level. As we were walking out a tall suited male (assumed a manager) appeared to confront my husband infront of the whole restaurant! I came back and asked if everything was ok and it appeared he was asking my husband for more money towards a tip, my husband was embarrassed why did he not pull him to one side. This wasn't exactly appropriate infront of the whole restaurant. Reluctantly my husband gave more cash, we felt this was awful but we just wanted to leave at this point ! I believe you should tip on the level of service you receive. This put a negative mood on the rest of our evening. I would like some feedback on how the restaurant feel this was appropriate, considering we are still staying at the hotel and will not be returning! It's such a shame as our initial visit was everything and more that we could have wished for. Rachel Brown

We had the best service ever by Rickardo, we asked him to compose our meal and he really picked the best out of the menu 👍 The atmosphere is great in this restaurant, be sure to make a reservation in advance since its very populare. Several celebrities..

Gabby at the hotel made our reservations and advised them it was my birthday. At the end of our meal they brought out their signature dessert this yummy fortune cookie filled with chocolate mousse and vanilla cream with a candle!

Came to Tao on Friday with 6 friends to celebrate my husband's 75th. Everything was perfect! The decor of the Los Angeles TAO is breathtaking and service was extremely attentive and friendly. Everyone ordered their own appetizer and Entree although we ended-up sharing. I had the crispy rice tuna and the Peking duck -- simply amazing! For dessert, we got the $75 sampler which was well worth it! My husband said it was one of the best celebrations ever!

This place feels like an event. It’s got a grand palatial Asian club ambiance. I honestly didn’t expect to get good Asian food here but I was wrong, the food is delicious. I’ve been here several times and I’ve never been disappointed with anything. It’s on the pricey side but it’s totally worth it. Great people watching and a good place to spot celebrities.

Love the Tao chain, and was not let down in the the slightest at the LA branch. Amazing vibe, friendly and accommodating waiters + waitresses and of course impeccable food. The staff made an extra effort with ensuring the food suited my allergies and accommodated us with any needs. 100% will be returning the next time we’re back in Los Angeles and looking forward!

Fusion asian food. Bookings essential. We ordered the Peking Duck which was very nice. Being LA, car is needed, and car park is walking distance away. Good service. Worth the adventure.

Is a wow effect when you enter into the huge high ceiling premise. Thoughtful deco from the sittings to the lightings. Sushi was smooth, asian fusion dishes nicely blended and dessert tempura banana pudding was yummy.

Expelling attention Very good food Lo Better? The Place , Asian Unique Mood! Exclusive Unique I recommend it Los Ángeles !

I cannot say enough about this place. From the moment we entered the venue it was first class all the way. The music being played was so fantastic. Never ate to Notorious B.I.G before...so fun. Waitress was beautiful inside and out. She made my son's birthday one to remember...making a fuss of him for his "NON BIRTHDAY" CELEBRATION. (my son did not want to be embarrassed by any fuss...bit shy). she recognized it by giving him a delish starter that he cannot stop talking about. The decor is second to none. The door staff, Hostess ladies....EVERYTHING. GO TO TAO when in Hollywood....I can't wait to try some of the others around the world.

What a spot! Interior design is next level. Food was so so tasty and the music was pumping like a night club. Don't go here if you want peace and quiet (unless there are nights without music?). Go here if you want a super cool, lively Hollywood upbeat experience and vibe!

My group of 8 had dinner here Very good ambience and had loads of fun I am not a keen Asian food eater but definitely this restaurant may give me a change of mind We basically had a continuous serving of meals with at least 8 different meals eaten over the course of the evening Most were well presented and tasted wonderful Also pleasantly surprised with the price. This really is a $$ or $$$ restaurant based on many others I have tried so was well priced to me Didnt mention I saw Janet Jackson, a few NBA players etc...long story...

Reservation confirmed, but we were still left standing around like walk-ins for an absurd amount of time. No meaningful updates, no accurate wait estimate, and zero urgency from the host stand—just a shrug-and-wait experience that wasted our night before it even started. The space looks great, but the service operation is sloppy and disrespectful of reservations. Photo attached showing we were still waiting to be seated.

We absolutely loved it!! The entrance, the stairway down to our table. The different buddahs everywhere, the lighting, it was all to die for. Our drink we're perfect, loved the Tao-tini, their take on a martini. The red snapper was delicious (if you enjoy salt) And the cheesecake we had for dessert was sooo amazing. It was a perfect girls night out!

We eat at some of the very best restaurants around the world and have enjoyed many many great meals. This past week we were in Los Angeles and my daughter booked us into Tao for dinner. Going in with no expectations, my wife and I must say we were blown away! It was literally the best meal of the year. Not only was the Peking Duck, the seafood magnificent, the restaurant itself is setup like a Cirque Du Soleil performance. Service was outstanding and on beat and extremely attentive. And check out these interactive desserts! If you have the $$$$$ and like to experience food and setting at its best, this is a must see when in LA

palatial & cavernous room. lots of glam clientele. food was only OK. nothing special esp for the price. staff were pleasant & attentive, and there were dozens of them, with never the same people serving, taking the order, coming around - which caused some mix ups with food not only at my table but surrounding ones. all in all - an impressive place but the experience did not add up for me.

Let’s just say the walk to the table and taking in the visuals is the best part of the experience. Once at the table it goes downhill pretty quickly. Over 1/2 the dishes are fried (ie. “tempura” or “crispy” or in our case, not even listed as such, but still fried) and the sushi is sub-par and un-inspired. The sweet/spicy shrimp came out so heavily coated in batter and fried we honestly couldn’t tell if it was shrimp or chicken. Given all the options in LA - there is little reason to go back to Tao.

Read the 0 star review in the LA Weekly before you go: "this place is a shocking ripoff even by tourist-trap standards"! Example from my own experience: Server: "Would you like white rice or fried rice with your meal?" Diners: "Sure, we'll have the fried rice." When the bill came, the fried rice was $21, and only then did the server explain that the rice was considered an entree, not a side. To be fair, I gave this place 1 star for the uniqueness of its decor, and 1 star for its gigantic creme brulee and spring rolls. The food was very mediocre at best and outrageously overpriced -- dinner for 2 was over $200 (w/o tip) with just one small carafe of saki.

Went here for dinner last week while in LA..place is very trendy. Food and service were all very good. My favorite place to eat is Nobu and this is the closest place I've found in terms of quality of food..service was great too..it is a bit loud in there so if you're looking for quiet place for dinner, this isn't it

We have been patrons of Tao for a long while, first went to the NYC. Very consistent in the food and service. The most fun thing is taking out of town visitors. The are all impressed with the visual upon entry.. The trick here is chat with the waiter and let him get a sense of what you like. What you will find is that since you are sharing every dish is a conversation piece.. We always have a great time..

This was my first time going to Tao and damn I loved it. First, the service was great. Our waiter was always checking on us and brought us the food really fast. Talking about the food, the duck is one of the best I’ve had. Also, the pad thai, the steak with mushrooms and the surf roll are amazing as well. I really recommend this place! I had a great time and I’ll come back for sure.

Went this week for birthday dinners - my first time there. Arrived a bit early and prior to opening (6 PM), so we had a drink next door. You wouldn't really notice it from the street, or the entrance, but the inside is amazing! it definitely gives you the feel of Asia. the atmosphere was perfect. Service was great, the waitress was friendly and had a great attitude. Definitely going back again soon!

Went on husband's bday celebration and found hair in bday cake(choclate mouse cake) which took 30 mins to come

This restaurant is an absolute treat to your senses! The spectacular decor is complemented by the very professional service. The food was amazing!

Tao was awesome. -Great ambiance -Next level food served quick and hot. -Awesome music -Amazing service (thank you SO much Abel) He listened to our needs and delivered the best vibe. Thanks Tao team for the incredible experience. We will definitely be back!!!!

This place will blow you away. The size, scale and decor is breathtaking. Never seen anything like it in Los Angeles. From the moment you walk in, you know it’s a hot spot. When people are instantly taking pictures of the decor, you know your in for a unique experience. The food was Excellent!!! We ordered a wide variety of sushi, noodles, Kobe skewers and everything was excellent. One item that blew us away was a tuna sashimi fit perfectly on a Pringle’s type chip. This is a super fun, super hip spot that will not disappoint.

At TAO in Los Angeles, we indulged in delicious Asian cuisine. From savory dishes to flavorful delicacies, the dining experience was exquisite and memorable.

Mood great, great food. Service unfortunately absolutely underground for the price. No card payment possible and little solution-oriented action.

Very good quality of food.Great place, great ambiance, great atmosphere. If you ever visit LA and you are close to Sunset Blvd, Tao is a must

Went for a celebration with friends. We had dumplings and chicken gyoza followed by a wonderful orange chicken, beef with brocolli and wonderful noodles. I can also recommend the chilli mango cocktail. We had a booth a couple of tiers up from main dining which was perfect for a bit of people watching. Great food and a super place. It's a cool, $$$$ venue and booking is advisable.

I had a wonderful birthday dinner here. Really beautiful venue and a pretty cool scene in the lounge. Loved the Taotini cocktail! :)

Wow wow wow!! What a great addition to LA. The food was amazing. Everything we were served was so Unique and delicious The food presentations were beautiful . It's been a long time since we have had a Gastronomics experience like this. The The atmosphere is equally unique and entertaining . Be prepared for a Dining experience .

been coming here since they opened, they have a good variety for everyone, you can eat at the bar or get a table, we rate them high due to the quality of food service location and ambiance

Great food , service and atmosphere. Very LA in a fun good way! Great place to visit just for the decor. Priced well for what you got I thought.

I would highly recommend a visit here. The food is great and the staff is even better. Wear your Sunday best!

This review is for the management. Do not book this place for your birthday or a special occasion. They won't let you. I tried to book a table for 16 people for my birthday. First they tried to sell us on catering and said I couldn't have a birthday with over 15 there unless it was catering. ($125 per person). Of course that is out of my budget so I asked if I could have a table for 8- 10 guests instead. They said that we cannot reserve a table we have to talk to the event department. Since when can you not go to a restaurant for your birthday and have 8 to 10 guests? It's a shame that you cannot enjoy special occasions at this restaurant because the food is amazing here and I had considered one of my favorite new LA restaurants but because of this experience why would I want to ever give them my future business? I will have to take my birthday and money somewhere else.

Three of us ladies had dinner there Monday night, our waiter was Tony....he was awesome, very friendly, funny and great server. Out food was unbelievable and his suggestions were right on, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting, in fact I already have! Beautiful surroundings and a great menu. We narrowed it down to TAO or Yamashiro, but we liked the menu better at TAO and we were not disappointed, keep up the great work!

Visited in November 25, absolutely superb food, we had king prawn sweet & sour, seafood rice, and chicken cashew nuts, the taste was incredible. However what lets the 5 star rating was service, which was poor, and quite pushy to over order( we did not), secondly and really poor was upon payment, was the credit card taken away from the table and then returned 10 mins later. This is worrying as card could be skimmed , I find this behaviour of removing credit card from table rather than paying at table very poor practice.

Went here with the family during Spring Break to celebrate an anniversary. It is visually one of the most incredible restaurants I have ever seen. The service was great, too. The food was good -- not sure it was fully worth the very high price, but as part of the overall experience, it was certainly good enough. Try to sit in one of the "balcony booths".

Great atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food! We enjoyed the spring rolls, triple pork fried rice and pad tai with chicken. I’d recommend all three.

Hello Everyone! I cannot emphasize enough what a great dining experience Tao LA/Hollywood is---The service is amazing, the food is amazing and the staff is very friendly--Money well-spent!

Great different place. nice bar crowed You can have Chinese or Japanese food I would go back again very soon.

Ambience is very unique, love the entire feel of the restaurant. Service was wonderful, portion sizes small,

What a restaurant! You come in through a non - flashy door and it opens up to an oasis with Buddhas, black, red and an intimate feeling. Great food, atmosphere, service, drinks and wine list! Definitely going back!!!!!!

I’m surprised that this place isn’t one of the best rated restaurants in Hollywood. Best meal with some of the best service we have had this holiday

It's so beautiful when you walk in here and really spacious. I found it very romantic. We were going to the Pantages theater and this was a classy way to have dinner before a show. The service was really top notch I felt. We had our photo taken by our server, which was nice. The food was very good. We started with edamame and had orange chicken as our entree. We also had 8 greens fried rice and bbq pork buns. The bathrooms are separated by mirrors with no walls at the sink area, which is fun. I liked the fortune cookies - not only were they tasty but the fortunes are witty. I also liked the sauvigon blanc wine.

Great ambiance at the restaurant and at the bar. I was really surprised how good the food was, the duck was spectacular and so where the dumplings. Great bar scene

The ambience is 5 stars but the food is about a 3.5/4. This location is absolutely beautiful and makes me miss Buddha Bar in Paris. The food is ok. I prefer Beauty and Essex for the food and Tao for the ambience. The dish sizes were pretty decent. We ordered the dim sum platter, Szechuan duck, tuna tar tar , snapper, and some drinks. - The Dim Sum Platter was good. The portion size of each dim sum was big. Each piece was about a size and a half of a normal dim sum you would find in a Chinese restaurant. - the Szechuan duck wasn't very good. It was duck meat fried in batter and stir fried with a bowl full of thai chili. It was basically a bowl of thai chili. You had to fish out the meat if you didn't want a mouth full of chili. I love spicy but my mouth was on fire after a few bites of those suckers. I had to send it back because it was just not edible and exchanged it for the snapper. - the snapper was good and had a lot of spices. The dish display was a full size fried snapper with pieces of fish fried in batter. It was interesting. - the tuna tar tar was delicious. The Caviar did taste fishy but in a good way. I recommend this. - rice is not included with the entrees, but I do recommend you ordering it on the side. However, each bowl of plain white rice is $8 each. - I love lychee martinis but I didn't like Tao's version. It had too much lemon juice in it. The bar lounge area upstairs is fun. Good music and eye candy. I would come back here for the lounge only next time.

Very cool place.. food is good along with the drinks.. Design and decor absolutely beautiful.. nice place to spend the evening

Such a lovely vibe from Tao, the whole place is overwhelming. There’s a lot of amazing foods to try on the menu. We tried the Pringle sushi. Which was a crunchy wafer/cracker type bottom with sushi fish on top which was really good. We also tried a mixture of dim sum/ dumplings. These were also good. We had the Tao cocktail which was yummy. Everything on the menu and cocktail menu sounded good.

The noise level in this restaurant makes it almost impossible to enjoy a good meal and focus on food. Ambience is more club than restaurant. The music is way too loud and the voices are too loud. This is more a place to see and be seen than enjoy a good meal. The food was good but the overall experience not to my liking. Sashimi salad was excellent. Dim Sum was just average. Noodles above average. Vietnamese beef dish very good.

Welcomed with a smile and breathtaking decor. Although we hadn't booked in advance, we were accommodated for food and drinks in the bar seating area. The lighting was dim, making it a bit of a task to read the menu. Service was attentive and food was served efficiently. Every thing we ordered was nice. Lovely evening overall, gets louder later on as the bar gets busy.

As a coeliac i felt very comfortable here and the servers were well aware of the severity of being a coeliac. The menu has symbols for gluten free options and the servers explained how each dish would be adapted for me. I had salmon and avocado sushi rolls which were adapted and i had my own gluten free soy source. I also had shrimp pad thai which was naturally gluten free. No problems after :)

Low light set up, interesting decor, great sushi. Sushi lovers must visit Tao at least once in their lifetime.

The scale and level of the decor is really impressive. It is very Vegas, but certainly makes you go wow! It's a great setting to have a meal. Service was good, nice and polite and attentive, but I wouldn't say it was on a level with service I have had elsewhere (Nobu in Malibu being extremely good!), not a negative by any means though. The food was good, a couple of dishes were great, and some of the portion sizes were huge. If we weren't having drinks after we would certainly have been asking to take it with us! We shared multiple dishes (gyozas, tempura prawns etc) between three and had more than enough once the larger dishes arrived. They also do food at the bar area, but I am not sure if you need to book for those tables. The bar area was nice, a little busy and sometimes hard to get served if people were sat at the bar, but that is like most places wit bar seating. I would say it's worth a visit to experience. I imagine it's a large enough operation to ensure a consistent standard of solid food, so you know you'll get a good meal, maybe not shouting from the rooftops, but you won't go far wrong.

If your looking for an LA restaurant experience then Tao is the place. The ambience from the moment you enter the front door is something special - the dimly lit space with accent lighting throughout feels like a Las Vegas night club. Music playing, interesting decor and design , and a very chic lounge/ bar area as soon as you walk past the host. The bar is simple with backlit wall, but offers a modern feel and look. Once you walk beyond the bar, you walk down to the dining area with a barrel truss roof overhead where Asian theme meets modern design elements. The restaurant has energy, and like most LA restaurants the noise level is elevated. The ambience definitely enhances your experience; however, their cocktails were unique and enjoyable. The cocktails ranged from $17 to $19, slightly over priced for even this chic LA place. Food is Asian fusion, and they didn’t miss with flavor. Appetizers were delicious and moderately priced, although most of the appetizers would serve a group of four best. The food is served family style, and every plate was served fast, hot, and flavorful! All the servers are attentive and accommodating, looking after your every need. Additionally, the restaurant offers valet parking for $10 with validation for up to 4 hours. This is defiantly an experience worth indulging on!

Tao's decor and ambience is excellent. The food was delicious and the entrees were surprisingly plentiful. The only hiccup we had was with slow service between courses but they did "comp" our drinks and desserts as a way of apologizing. The waiters were funny and very attentive. Make sure you make reservations because it is a hot spot! You might even see a celebrity or two.

We were really glad to have discovered TAO Asian Bistro with a reservation ahead of seeing a show nearby. Upscale asian food can be hit or miss and this was definitely a hit. We loved the cavernous space they built which felt like an old converted theater, especially as we descended to the main part of the dining room, but it was, apparently, completely created for this restaurant. The feel inside is tremendous with goddesses looking down over you throughout dinner...even entering is an experience with an impressive front door and another goddess greeting you as soon as you walk in. We loved the food too. We're vegetarians which usually isn't an issue at an asian restaurant (and it wasn't here) and we felt like first class eating citizens with the delicious food they brought, including Olive Fried Rice...what a great unique taste to a classic asian dish! The steamed bok choy also had a lot of flavor. The vegetable egg rolls looked great and tasted just okay. I also enjoyed the Okinowa Old Fashioned made with Japanese whiskey and black sugar! There are a number of other vegetarian things to choose from including tempura, other rice dishes, noodles, sides and sushi so you'll really have plenty to choose from here if that's your diet, and all of it (at least what we saw) looked elevated and luxurious. We don't live close but see this as a good destination restaurant on its own and it's perfectly situation to enjoy whatever Hollywood has to offer.

Taken to dinner by my daughter and her boy-friend. Fabulous interior which has a series of tiered tables, in booths, before the flat dinning area. I'm not that keen (or knowledgeable) overall on Asian/Japanese food, but this place is good at explaining what is what, so I could pick what suited me. Service was great and the food great.

Tao restaurant is average restaurant in Los Angles. We spent New Year's Eve at this restaurant, but the experience was not good, neither the food nor the service.

Overall the restaurant was amazing. Great service. Great food. Timeliness of service was right on point and they were really busy.

Visited LA during All Star Weekend and through GM Brendan McManus reaching out to Manager Keren Ashri, got a reservation Sunday evening for 5 to celebrate my wife's Birthday. Exactly designed like the NY Tao, it wasn't too busy and we were taken care of by Lauren for the evening. My sons know the menu backwards and after an initial mix-up of food ordered and delivered, we settled on our usual favorites: Salmon Avo Roll Shrimp Tokyo Filet Lobster Fried Rice Satay Sea Bass (our favorite) Excellent and served fairly quickly. Drink cocktails were great. Real surprise was we ordered 2 desserts and 1 came complements of GM Brendan McManus from the NY downtown Tao and the other from Tao LA. Really nice and totally different than Beauty & Essex (under same management) where even the Birthday dessert was charged (and the food nowhere as great). A really nice evening made special by great food and a nice Birthday celebration for my wife. Thanks Keren. A big thanks to GM Brendan McManus. You Rock! See you in March

I was with a party of 11 people, and we were at the door when they opened. Upon entering the dining area (beyond the reception area), I knew the evening would be incredible, which it was! Since we were a group with pre-arranged menu selections, the waiters never stopped bring out more dishes, selection after selection, until when leaving the restaurant, I felt like I was trying every dish on the menu, and all of them were excellent. And the desserts . . . and not to mention the huge fortune cookie! I won't fail to mention that the service was excellent. I have experienced Asian Cuisine in restaurants from numerous trips to Asia, but the cuisine and the atmosphere didn't match my experience at Tao. I was informed by their staff that it's better to make an early reservation because it is very popular.

Visiting family in Hollywood and they want to take us there. Served family style we got a bunch of different things. All were very tasty. We had great service as well.

We had a great meal here, the food and the service is 1st class the interior is awesome! Our two children aged 6 & 10 were made very welcome, superb evening had by us all!

Seen the vibe on the weekend and it was the spot. I decided to take a friend for a belated birthday dinner. The vibe was hella chill. The overall layout of Tao was amazing. DJ was playing so good music throughout the time there. I like how the serving are set up. Shared plates was a perfect touch for a dinner for two. Trying about 5-6 dishes and they were all good. The female I was with liked the Salmon plate and I was digging our first plate which was an exclusive LA tuna dish. I ordered a bit of everything from each selection on the menu. had a few drinks which was dope. For dessert she wanted the "Big" fortune cookie and this thing was hella good. In all it was a good time for her and the experience of the restaurant vibe was comforting. Next time I would like to get one of the booths or table setting along the stairs, now those seats are perfect for a couple settings. Mahalo...

My wife and I recently went to Tao in Hollywood after visiting the Las Vegas one many years ago. We had a car so used the valet parking which was situated just down the street from the front entrance. It was a tad expensive ($30) so if you can avoid taking a car probably for the best. We received a warm welcome upon arrival and were seated at the bar area. I had a beer and my wife had a cocktail. Including tax/service charge it was an eye-watering $45. I also felt obliged to leave a cash tip so I put down $50. I understand you are also paying for the experience, but $50 for 2 drinks is pretty insane. It was also a tad bizarre that we were charged at the bar, why not just add it to our food bill? This however is a very minor complaint. We were then brought down to our table. The restaurant itself is stunning and has a great atmosphere. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. We just got a bunch of food to share, went for some gyoza, shrimp roll, pad thai, crispy orange chicken and some nigiri. It was all excellent - cannot fault the food at all. It was also served very quickly with no waiting around. In particular I would highlight the shrimp roll, it was amazing. The food bill was $156 which all things considered is actually fairly reasonable. When you go to somewhere like Tao you know it's not going to be cheap. I think overall we would visit again. To sum up, if you are looking for some great Asian food in Los Angeles, and a nice atmosphere ideal for couples, I would definitely recommend Tao.

When I walked into this restaurant, I thought I had been there before. Then I realized that I had not been to this particular restaurant, but it is decorated just like a couple of other restaurants I had been to before. There is the giant Buddha when you walk in. I think they could be a little more creative. Also, the food was ok but over priced. Don't think we will be going back.

Spectacular room, superb food, excellent service. We chose a range of dishes to share and a good wine at the lower end of the list. Expensive but, frankly, worth it.

The food is so delicious however the atmosphere is so beautiful and an experience. Sushi is so good, drink menu is fun, wait staff very knowledgeable of the menu and makes great recommendations.

I’ve been to Nyc location treated with so much respect . This one is racist my party was sat on the main stage because I request it on my reservation upon them seeing our skin was of color after being sat and placing our drink orders. We were greeted by security to tell us they made a mistake we were not able to move there and we will have to move to a basic table in the back on the floor . It was so embarrassing . Then the moved us only to let aCaucasian family seat in the seat . I looked in disgusted after looking around I realized all the black people was placed in the back of the restaurant they ruin my whole birthday this is them moving us from the seat

Went to Tao for the first time. Amazing food, experience, service and the music was nostalgic I will definitely recommend this place for anyone who is a foodie

The place is stunning! So much work has gone into the aesthetics it really makes the place feel run and exciting like you are part of something important. I got the dim sum. It decent but $30 for 6 and you expect it to blow your socks off. My socks were still on. Again, decent but a bit over priced. You could justify the quality with how great it is being there.

Had dinner for 8 people and really enjoyed. Food is pretty creative and interesting: sometimes truly asian, sometimes rather fusion. Rather expensive. For special occasions (around 100$/person for a full dinner with some good drinks)

This is the best place i used to come here for dinner or sometimes drinks after dinner they have amazing bar the decoration is amazing stunning beautiful many buddha statuses amazing place you should definitely visit... a bit expensive but if you like fancy places and to be surrounded by nice and fashionable people you need to visit this place... i would definitely visit again.

Myself and 2 friends visited TAO on a Friday night and it didn’t disappoint. The place is incredible and you have to try the Tao-tini martini. The food was absolutely delicious and the customer service didn’t disappoint at all. Our waiter Bhijon (apologies for the spelling) was very helpful, friendly and always made sure we we enjoyed our food. It was the best customer service I’ve had in a while. The food was so delicious, especially the shrimp tempura and chicken satay - certainly exceeded our expectations too! Thank you! Will certainly recommend and will be back. I’d recommend booking in advance too.

As other reviewers have said, you have to dine at Tao to experience a fine dining experience. My girlfriends enjoyed the ambiance, food, service, décor - overall everything about this fine dining establishment. If you are looking for an enjoyable evening out, I suggest you visit Tao. Note - its $$$$ ...but worth every penny.

The room is eclectic in its design and so interesting. It's like a throwback to the 40s in that there are attendants in the bathroom, a doorman, tiered seating and booths and numerous waiters flitting about but it has a modern feel as well. The desserts are multi faceted and done extremely well. The service was very good other than our waiter dropping the check on the table, without us asking for it, in the middle of eating dessert. The prices may appear a bit expensive but the amount of food in each dish seems to justify it. It's a shared plate theme and they accommodate big parties easily. We did the Dine L.A. menu and it was a good way to sample the restaurant.

We booked a table for two, we arrived on time but we had to wait 25 min until the table was ready... Arrived at our table, we had at least 40 minutes waiting between the starter and the main course, for the Award and the level of the restaurant is very long! The server not found in addition.. regarding the food it was very good, but nothing exceptional! Anyway, for the Award it's not worth it.

This restaurant is an experience as far as ambiance. It is beautiful and built below street level. The service is usually a 10PLUS..The food a good 7

Amazing ambiance, vibrant and chic. The place attracts the coolest in Hollywood so just grab you best garb and strut to one of the coolest places to dine and party in Hollywood. The Asian theme food is superb as is the accompanying drinks and cocktails. Service is attentive but not intrusive. Place gets very busy so booking is essential.

One of those "must be at" places. Fantastic decor, like no place I have ever seen. Come in at the top and there has to be 25 steps down to the bottom. People eating on different levels. Service, out of this world. Over the top to please. Food fantastic, fresh and nice presentation. If they miss anything it's presentation because lots of dishes come in bowls. For those, like pot-stickers that don't the presentation is beautiful. Came here with 8 people...great for large groups. When we went in at 6:30 the place was empty. By 9 it was packed( Wedn. night). It definitely is an in place. Again, not cheap...maybe nothing good is in LA?

We went to Tao for our 27th wedding anniversary dinner. The ambiance was fantastic and grand. The number of options on the menu should be able to please anybody in a group. Our food was delicious and we really enjoyed being able to try small plates of many different (new to us) dishes. The giant fortune cookie stuffed with chocolate and vanilla mousse was a unique and tasty dessert for our celebratory dinner. Overall a delightful experience.

This is a beautiful place, great for dates-very romantic, saw some families too. Amazing ambiance and food. Takes you on a experience for your eyes and taste buds.

Hands down, this place is beautiful. Drinks are delicious, I had a regular cosmo martini and the lychee martini (so very good)! Dumplings, tuna tartare crispy rice, miso cod fish, jalapeño yellowtail, were great. Thai BBQ chicken w/green curry, black pepper chicken, were good. The rest of our dishes were just ok, needed more flavor and that was unanimous amongst the six of of at the table. This is my third visit. If I go back, and I will with friends who have never been there because it’s a beautiful place to try at least once, I would stick with the small plates and sushi, those were the tastier dishes.

I’ve been to Tao in Vegas several times but this was even more amazing. The decor is incredible with a beautiful Shiva as the centerpiece of the restaurant. The food is diverse and everything we tried was great. The service was slow but it was a busy Friday night.

If you like flavorless food with uncomfortable seating then it's your place to go. We were sitting right next to a couple and could hear a full on conversation. It is too loud in there. The food was a zero. My cucumber drink was lukewarm, just a really bad experience. $400 down the drain.

Excellent service, delish pan-Asian menu. So many dishes to try and consume. This restaurant is a major "GET" for Los Angeles. I have only been to TAO in Vegas for a NYR's party long ago. I had a great time and definitely remember the food prior to dancing the new year in. So it is with major excitement to have a TAO in the "hood". The L.A. TAO is definitely a smaller replica, but a stellar replica. You will definitely enjoy the aesthetic of the place while drinking a cocktail or two and feasting on the menu. Make sure you arrive hungry. The food is where it's at. But the décor and atmosphere complete the package. Great food, great evening !

Sadly we spent my daughter’s 21st birthday. It was mediocre food and despite spending a lot of money not even a birthday candle was provided by the restaurant. Certainly not the best way to spend money in Los Angeles at fine dining! Ha

A Thai restaurant with a theme, well designed and decorated, dimmed lights, make you feel in the far east. Specious and good for large groups. Delicious food, tasty as it should be, fair portion, a menu with lots of verity to choose from. Excellent service, high price. Highly recommended

Best use of a space ever. This amazing restaurant will definitely have you at the moment you enter the doors. Very upscale dining. The prices are super reasonable. Valet parking . Great service - thank you Tony. We had a very delicious meal. Try everything!!!! Can not get a greater dining experience. Two thumbs up .

Ended our LA trip with a visit to Tao LA and was not disappointed. The restaurant is beautiful and the food/service was amazing.

Tao...... What a beautiful staircase into the restaurant.... seated downstairs at a lovely corner table for our huge party...and celebrities in tow.........It's her birthdayyyy (my daughter).. yeah 22 and this was a great place for a celebration... The chef presented us with the house specialties.... I can't even begin to speak about all of the wonderful appetizers..... the main dishes were amazing... this is great Asian Food... they do it and they do it very well... we ended with an amazing birthday celebration for her .... I couldn't have ask for more .This is what she wanted and now I know why...... this was amazing...Niceeeee

We celebrated our son's birthday at Tao, and every dish was superb. There were six of us, so we tried a variety of items. Some standouts were the lobster wontons, miso black cod, Peking duck, tuna pringles, tuna on crispy rice, and Thai chicken lettuce cups. The giant fortune cookie was also tasty with hilarious "fortunes." Tao doesn't look like much from the outside, but as you enter the dining area, the place is gorgeous and impressive. Be sure to use the circle light camera by the restrooms to get a complimentary photo sent to your email. Service was excellent.

Came in for dinner solo and sisters at the bar. The bar and lounge area was packed with people waiting to be seated in the main dining area. Service was quick and food was great.

A welcome addition to the neighborhood. Very clubby, cool vibe and great people watching. Feels a bit like a glamorous movie set. The food is delicious with generous portions. Every time we’ve eaten here we’ve been blown away by the quality of the Asian fusion cuisine.

The selection of food here was great, the service was pathetic, but the food was great. The selection was great, good option of food choices. Menu was extensive.

Four of us had dinner at Tao last night. The place is beautiful, the service is outstanding and the food is delicious. We focused mostly on sushi dishes as well as some cooked fish, each was excellent. It is refreshing to see Hollywood reinventing itself with new hotels, innovative restaurants like Tao and a fun environment. Don’t miss this fantastic restaurant

I have to say that upon entering Tao, one must be impressed with physical presence of this upscale Pan Asian restaurant with all of the tasteful Asian themed appointments. The quality of the food was…well some of the best I’ve had! We stuck to the Dim Sum (crispy shrimp), Sushi & Sashimi. No celebrity sighting on this visit. Love their dress code requirement – maintains a level of clientele consistent with the upscale establishment that is Tao. I would love a return visit next time I’m in Hollywood; there were so many menu options! Expect to pay ~$300 for two….

Tao is Asian fushion restaurant with many good choises on the menu. We took a mix of small dishes to share and a big plate to share and the food keeps a high level of look and flavour. A fantastic choise of restaurant!

I was visiting LA for my 25th birthday and googled “fancy restaurants in LA”. My friends who lived in LA mentioned Tao and it was my first selection. The venue is absolutely stunning and I had an incredible table reserved for my birthday ! They made me feel special when they brought out cake and ice cream with a candle. Definitely make a stop here too if you’re a couple too!

My wife and I have really enjoyed some of Tao Group's other restaurants, which is why we were surprised by how awful the experience at their namesake restaurant is. The only positive is the interesting dining space. Otherwise, the atmosphere, food, and service were seriously underwhelming based on the price. Eating at Tao can be summed up as an overpriced evening at Wokano whilst surrounded by the worst people you can imagine. The food ranged from mediocre to sub-par. The assorted dumplings were flat out awful. The best dish we had was the tuna pringles and they certainly were not worth everything else we put up with. Service was terrible. We only saw the waiter 3 times over a 3 hour dinner. Glasses were consistently empty and our dessert took an hour to arrive. Management can't control the crowd, but good Lord. Just a parade of Instagram posing. Tao knows how to run a good restaurant. Look at Beauty & Essex for an example of that. Not sure how this place maintains the hype with a superior product (by the same group) next door.

This was more than a meal in a restaurant - it was an experience that I will never forget. The food was so good, both of us just looked at each other in amazement, wondering if we were both experiencing the same thing. I won't go into details, but one of my favorite aspects was the giant Buddha statue rising some 3-stories tall with a dynamic artistic projection on it at various times. The service was excellent, and it truly was worth every dollar spent. I like that we at at 11PM as well!

The food was excellent, the service very good, but it was dark and very noise. The place is for youngsters and not for seniors. It was also an expensive restaurant.

Came here for a late dinner on a Saturday night. All of the staff gave great service. Definitely make a reservation, otherwise you might not get a table. The bar is right there once you walk in. For drinks, I had an old fashioned, while my wife had the cucumber buck with tequila. We then had the pan fried chicken gyoza & the pork potstickers. Both were really good. Then I had the bbq duck fried rice, which had great flavor. My wife had the honey glazed salmon, which she said was okay, but could've used more honey glaze. Our server Jenna was wonderful and took great care of us. Definitely come of you want some quality Asain food in Hollywood. The bar area was buzzing as well, so plan accordingly.

Ended up getting an early reservation at TAO on a Sat. night. My daughter was out modeling in fashion week and we had Sat night free and ended up eating here as we stayed at DREAM Hollywood next door. Hey this place is awesome. Atmosphere is cool, the place and the way you walk way down into the place is cool and food --- great ! Our server was so good as well

Incredible vibe, music, food, great portions, 5-star staff. Can see a celebrity every time you go. Best stop to dine in Hollywood.

I have been to Tao in New York and Las Vegas and this new addition is in line with the same approach... good food in a young hip club crowd setting.

Some might find it a fun place, but the unique interior gets tired pretty quickly. It’s in the more seedy part of Hollywood and catered to a younger crowd. Our waitress was very sweet, but the food was disappointing. Can not recommend the Peking Duck. Worst I ever had. The cocktails were a little better. I also cannot stand unclean toiletts. Will not come back.

As you walk in you immediately realise this is a very different and in many ways a special place, the huge space is stunning, beautifully decorated. Things go down from there, the service is inefficient, took for ever, the food was ok but not great, the bill v expensive. Shame this place has the potential to be a great venue which it is not yet.

Visited LA from Tn. Was told Tao Los Angeles was the place to be! Reservation were made for 10:15, we arrived 30 mins early and was seated immediately😊 Atmosphere was perfect! Food was amazing! The Crisp Red Snapper is to die for! Staff was very friendly and informative!

We went in for a early Dinner on a Sunday and I would highly suggest having a early dinner here because the atmosphere is very different and you have the entire staff to yourself. Service was amazing from being greeting by Walter to being treated very well by our waitress Millie Rose. We are looking forward to return soon again.

It’s amazing when you walk in and see what’s in store. I’d hate to comment and ruin a surprise but as far as dining goes, this is one of the best atmospheres I’ve ever been in. Dress nice to go here because otherwise you’ll look foolish. This is a great place to eat and drink and have a good time. One of the best places to get sushi in the city. Everyone should check this place out. I come at least once a week! Haha

This isn’t your typical Hollywood restaurant and lounge. Immediately when you walk in you navigate around the hostess to see Asian them decor. First thought is where the restaurant was and you walk more and you see an open huge sunken floor plan that was deceptive from outside. Amazing!!! The drinks were great and unique and not pricey compared to others in the area. Everyone was cool to talk to and wasn’t the typical Hollywood struggling actor/musician vibe where they only tan to their circle. People actually were genuine here. Good drinks and good vibes. Great for a night out!

I went to Tao for my birthday dinner celebration with my family and had a WONDERFUL time. If you've never been to any Tao location you're in for quite a surprise when you walk in and see how large and gorgeous the restaurant is. It's decor is absolutely stunning. I requested a booth because loved the look of it with the lights overhead and was accommodated with no issue. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful and really made out meal even better because she was so kind and funny. All of the food was delectable; I especially enjoyed all of the dim sum options. My family is full of people with different tastes and there was something we each loved and enjoyed all of it. My parents had also arranged with the restaurant to bring me a giant birthday platter with a huge fortune cookie to celebrate and it was all delicious and fantastic. I don't want to spoil anything but make sure you read your fortune from your cookie in the end! I really loved Tao and I'll be back to this one and the one in NYC soon!

It's a beautiful setting deep in Hollywood on the basement level of the Dream Hotel that attracts a very interesting crowd - a mix of tourists, young social butterflies from the Inland Empire, couples/friends starting their long night out on the town and large group gatherings for celebrations. It's a different crowd than most restaurants in the LA and Hollywood area. That said, on the weekends, the bar scene can be pretty chaotic there - once you navigate through that element, you'll find yourself in a very open and airy main dining room flanked with lights, colors and statues. The wait staff service tries hard but doesn't always get it - by that I mean that you can tell they strive for being attentive, however, they often quickly get tripped up for some reason as its happened every time I've dined here - guessing by either totally random requests, constantly pushing their costly cocktails or just complete loss within the chaotic setting of patrons. The last example was this week when I ordered a few of the smaller side plates to be served with my entree and I had food restrictions (in that I don't eat meat or chicken) and when I inquired if some have a meat base, the server wasn't sure and said he would ask the chef. I gave pretty clear instructions on what to do in the event it contained meat, however, the server went missing for some time while our other food items arrived. Some 20 minutes later he showed up to explain that the vegetable side plates indeed had chicken stock (vegetarians - heed the call here) and that he could bring this or that instead. I reminded him what I had mentioned originally and said that he could bring a replacement for each if it was quick since we were more than half done with our entrees. It literally came another 15 minutes later which was obviously too late - with no apologies or discount. That's what I mean about questionable service as I've had other experiences. The food is good - not over the top great as other restaurants in the area, however tasty. I highly recommend the Miso Cod and Crispy Rice although both are honestly ridiculously priced. The fish arrives as ~6 or 7 oz piece smothered in miso sauce. You can get a larger portion, healthier and better-tasting piece at a popular and exclusive steak restaurant for the same price. Their sushi and sashimi are overpriced as well and their drinks average $17-20 each. Somehow they feel justified in charging - most likely because of the ambiance. That all said, I would and have returned but I know what to expect each time.

The restaurant is situated on a small, narrow street which is difficult to access and is quite congested. Parking is difficult; however, valet is available for $20. SERVICE: It was absolutely exceptional. Our server was sweet and attentive. Our food and dessert were served in minutes. Other servers cleared our finished dishes and kept our drinks filled. FOOD: we ordered the chicken satay to start with; it was tender and juicy and the sauce was flavorful. My husband had the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. I had the crispy pork which was delicious; however, it was not crispy at all. The sides are a la carte but they are shareable. We had the Chinese broccoli and Spicy Cauliflower; the entire meal was fabulous. They had a variety of desserts on the menu; since it was our first time, we opted for their signature dessert which was the giant fortune cookie with chocolate mousse. AMBIANCE: we sat at the first booth near the top of the steps on the left (if facing the “stage”). It was a perfect spot with a great view of the entire restaurant. The lighting is dim but cozy, the music is not too loud, and the Asian decor was tasteful. We arrived for a 6:00 p.m. reservation and apparently it gets a little “club-ish” the later it gets. By 9:00 p.m., the crowd changed with those dressed to the nines, ready to impress. Our evening ended with a false fire alarm that was blaring for what seemed like eternity. In addition, the review would have been five out of five, but what l found distasteful was after paying the $20 for valet and tipped him an additional $10, he pointed us to the lot which was only half a block across the street, to get our own car.

Kids dragged me to this after we were at press event Swedish House Mafia across the street. I was a bit reluctant as there are other great restaurants in the area and I dislike these corporate dinner places masquerading as glamor magnets. It was pretty empty and waiter told us to take big round table next to stairway. Right after ordering earpiece guy comes up and tells us he needs our table. He does it politely but it was all rather rude and unsettling and we just decide to leave to eat at a real restaurant down the street. Sure enough, as we're leaving, fake "paparazzi" who were told to be there were let in so they could shoot some unknown rapper and his overdressed entourage "out on the town." It was ridiculous. A fraud and a waste of our valuable time and I'm never going back.

The place for a really fabulous, memorable evening. Friends took me for my birthday and we all loved it. The decor is exceptional, and the food does it justice. I was hoping it would not be just for show, it's not. We were very happy with everything.

Atmosphere is dynamic yet cosy and comfortable, the menu is unique and the food is great. The interior is remarkably attractive.

Make sure to reserve ahead as it gets booked and you don’t want to miss the experience from the food to the location 😍

Lots of attention has been paid to the interior design and decor attempting to create a chic vibe in Thai style surroundings. Clearly loved by lots of the clientele. The bar at the entrance is capacious and you can order food there too. Pricey cuisine - not bad but a little salty. Service is good but confusing as mentioned by other reviewers. This place is trying hard - perhaps a little too hard! Music good if loud. You get the scene...dress to impress.

This location is similar to the others in NYC and Vegas however made complete with that 'extra special' Hollywood crowd. Weekends are the most interesting as the bar in front absolutely gets inundated with the selfie driven crowd who can be quite rude thinking they own the space when they're merely another guest in the vast crowd. Try not to allow that clientele sway the setting as once you get in to the actual dining room and navigate past the bar scene, you can be treated well by the staff of servers and bussing team in offering a delicious meal. My favorite dishes include the Miso Sea Bass and Tuna on Crispy Rice - its always a home run. Easy valet parking out front at a cost where they don't validate.

Best night ever!! The food and the service the decor was fabulous. It was the best place to be on a Friday night in Los Angeles. It truly is one of the most beautiful restaurants I’ve ever been in. But it was just a combination of the food the on the on the decor and the service. Five star all the way.

Went to Tao NYC some 10years ago when it was a hot spot. Then we were impressed but the effort to get a reservation and the NYC scene was a bit much for us..WOW Tao has open in LA and we had a request from visiting friends from Australia to go.. So good sports we booked and went... The place was amazing what a great experience we all had, food, service and scene was so much fun...going back soon. We are going back for the food, the lounge bar scene is fab if you single and 30 something.

Yes, the place is expensive but absolutely worth it. The food and drinks are amazing and as is the service. I'd definitely go back. They've got a decent valet service too. The only parts that kind of sucked was the table we got - kind of in the corner, and the washrooms could be cleaner, especially since there is an attendant in the washroom at all times.

Selena is absolutely the best!!!! She is amazing. The best servise ever!!! She has the nicest smile!!! She is a sweetheart!! And the most important she has the best personality. ❤️

I have visited TAO Las Vegas 2 times, TAO New York (both) 6 times and I just love the place and food. Seated on the "stairs" overlooking the main dining area is still great seating. Its not a "cheap eat" but is all worth it. The coctails are tasty, the wine great and I just love the Crispy Snapper in Sand", the tempura shrimps, the Chilean Seabass Satay, The Chicken Gyoza but there is so much great food to choose from so its never boring. This time the service attendance could have been a bit better however he made p for it at the end by granting free dessert as a compensation for this lack of service.

We loved Tao. The food was amazing, so much flavour and cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly. I was a little worried before I went to Tao about how expensive it would be, how small the portions would be and if it was a place to be seen rather than about the food. How wrong we were. We couldn’t finish food, it wasn’t expensive at all, actually found it very reasonable and would pay more for what we got. It’s also not “snobby” either and not just a place to be seen - although my partner did see a basketball player as we were leaving. Highly recommended! Cannot wait to visit another Tao! Wish they had a restaurant in the UK!

We visited Tao to celebrate my birthday as a family, and unfortunately, it was a letdown. The ambiance and decor are undeniably stunning — the space feels special the moment you walk in — but the experience didn’t follow through. The food was good but not memorable, about a 7/10. Prices felt fair for the setting, so no complaints there. However, the service was where everything fell apart. We placed our full order when seated, yet dishes arrived completely out of order: entrées came before appetizers and soup, and one of the kids’ meals never arrived at all. Multiple servers passed by without engaging, and we repeatedly had to flag people down just to be acknowledged. The biggest frustration was the drinks — ordered first, but not served until the end of the meal, and only after asking four times. Even then, they arrived incorrect. We asked for the dessert menu, but after a long wait, we gave up, requested the check, and went elsewhere for dessert and drinks. With so many restaurants in L.A. eager to deliver great service, I’d choose a different spot next time.

You'd better not shout, you'd better not cry......at Tao's lackluster service that verged on outright neglect this Christmas night. We arrived around 6:30 and were directed to the bar lounge area. Menus came quickly. So far so good. Then....a long wait. Very very long (we could have cooked the meal ourselves. I mean, ambient jazz is no match for a growling stomach.) When the main course was served before the appetizer, the waiter explained that their two separate dining rooms meant that our dinner would arrive at different times. Okaaay. Mental note made. . We dug in. The vegetable dumplings were hearty, the salmon was savory. The molten chocolate dessert, however, (which once more we grew old awaiting) was bland. We expect those exorbitant prices but is even mediocre service too much to expect? The lounge area was not crowded at all. When we finally decided to call it a night, we had another half hour wait for the bill. We bided our time by watching the waitstaff flock around a single man seated nearby. Tao Los Angeles wants starlets to float around their space in a gauzy, glamorous haze. Well, we did see one or two beauteous gazelles admiring the Buddha statue, but we normal folks were relegated to stepchild status. It was far from subtle. Next time I am pining for a meal in that neighborhood, I'll opt for one of the many fast food joints that abound near Hollywood Blvd. Still tasty and no waiting.

But to the amazing decoration of this place the food was less than Average. Wouldn't go there again.

Had a wonderful meal here. Great vibe. If you are staying at Dream Hotel in Hollywood it is next door and would definitely suggest booking in at this restaurant.

The food is amazing and service fabulous.. great place to have any event very entertaining atmosphere..

This place is awesome! I came here for a bday celebration and was not disappointed. Fairly certain I saw a pretty popular musician here (Beebz). But aside from that, it was NOT a place filled with snobs. Service and food were great. Drinks DELICIOUS. High quality stuff. Now I know it's just as cool as the more infamous location. Would be a good place for a night on the town !

This is one of our favorite LA spots. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible!! The dim sum is even better ;) The service was great. We were asked if we were celebrating anything - which I really appreciated. The food came out quick and our waitress was constantly refilling our drinks. The food came out rather quick, also. The food was perfectly done. The orange chicken and dim sum were truly one of a kind. It's dark and romantic and it felt like a personal experience. I highly recommend it for a couples night out!

Fabulous atmosphere, informative waiters , very little wait time , live DJ also Delicious food and efficiently served . Lovely evening enjoyed by my family

Tao My favorite place to go. An Asian Fusion that's just fireworks in your mouth. Love this place for any occasion. A romantic night out , A party night out a family night out it fits everything. Beautiful decorations a feel good place. There is music some nights. Highly recommended

I give a 5/5 for ambiance and décor, and for excellent service. The place does have a cool interior and our waitress was friendly and brought us a scoop of ice cream when she found out we were celebrating my friend's birthday. However, for the exorbitant prices, the food was just so-so; I'd give the food 2/5. We had the dim sum dumpling platter, shanghai fried rice and crispy Thai pork. At even the fanciest of Chinese restaurants I've been to, this would cost maybe $50-60, at most. With a mock-hito and sparkling water, the price for 2 of us was $125 before tip! The food was okay, but I've had MUCH tastier dishes in my local hole-in-the-wall neighborhood Chinese restaurants. If you must go to Tao, maybe just go for a drink?

Had heard so much about this place we had to try it. Excellent food, excellent service and such a beautiful place to eat. The atmosphere was amazing. It’s a little pricey but it’s LA . Our waiter suggested several choices to try for all four of us together as a combo dinner. It was an excellent choice. We loved the food. Will definitely return!!

Absolutely fantastic atmosphere. The waiters were on and friendly. We ordered pad thai with chicken and steak and dumplings. Dumplings were the best we've tasted, and pad thai had a lot of flavors and really good if you like Thai food. Recommended on the strongest!

I don't know how much more I can say beyond the title. The decor and the food were exquisite. Definitely, make reservations on the weekend if you plan to go. My meal: Crab and lobster eggrolls... Delicious! EntreeI was the filet mignon and we shared the lobster fried rice... everything was exceptional. To be honest, the filet was enough for two people as well. We could have shared the entire meal. Very very delicious. The best view, in my opinion, is to sit on the steps. In my reservations, I requested a nice view since it was our first time in LA. I feel as if they gave us the worst seats somewhere off in the corner of the restaurant. We even stayed in the hotel next door that's its affiliate. I don't know how much more we had to spend to get a decent view, but it really sucked, so I guess requesting seating is a waste of time. Perhaps we could have asked to move and it was not crowded. Overall, an amazing experience. The waiter and other servicemen were phenomenal!

Visited on Friday night before show at Pantages. Food and service was excellent. Shared a couple of appetizers, a few small plates and a couple of entrees and presentation and flavor was very good. Timing of all the dishes was nice so that we weren’t rushed and had time to finish one before the next was served. Had reservations at 6:00 when they opened and got to theater by 7:35.

Fantastic place, must visit! The atmosphere is relaxed, good drinks and extremely delicious food. But the astounding design of this place will take your breath.

5th time to TAO Hollywood. This time with out of town guest. The food was poorly executed, cold and flavorless. There was definitely no LOVE or JOY put into my Lobster efu, Lobster Fried rice, etc... Very disappointed. This was a restaurant I frequented with guests since it opened and always had a great meal and time. Service is still good, but what happened this Tuesday eve?

The decor is mind-blowing. Walk around, take it in, and go to the bathroom. If you go early on a weekday, it'll likely be very peaceful. But if you go after 8 pm, it'll be crowded and provide fun people watching. Pick your time, pick your vibe (cool or hip). Clearly the decor and atmosphere upstage the food--which is actually very good and intesting... but not mind-blowing.
Love this place!!!
Is it just me or does anyone else feel like tuna on crispy rice is the best thing to hit your tongue, especially the one from TAO Los Angeles. Love this place!
