Friends lunch

By JackieB |

Came here for lunch with some friends and we enjoyed it very much. The food was so good. Delicious!!

Pretty good

By MillieHelper |

It's cafeteria style. Everything is under heat laps, but obviously fresh. You can see what looks good, and it's served quickly. I had a steak taco and a chile relleno. Rice and beans are served on the taco, which was ok. But the cabbage they put on there- great addition! And the steak was excellent, seared to perfection and flavorful. The chile relleno was not to my liking. Maybe I should've stuck to things that hold up better under a heat lamp, it was very heavy on the stomach and kind of bland. It's still worth a try- clean, friendly, restrooms available.

A whole steak in your taco

By Acdman |

This is a great place for fast and yummy Mexican food. It's cafeteria style so you get to see what you want. They make the tacos to order. They give an entire piece of roll steak for you steak taco. They do not chop up the meat and it is out of this world. Also, they sell tamales by the dozen. They chicken with green sauce are the best, skip the pork ones. Also, I highly recommend a strawberry tamale they are great here.

que lindo!

I've been away from the little village for over 3 years and first stop was El Milagro! Great food, good prices, fast, nice service. Love it here, my fiancé quickly realized he never had a real taco till he took a bit of these! Tacobell never again! This is so Authentic it's almost mocking to even say it.

fNot just tacos --- A great Mexican cafeteria

By Edam231 |

For very little money, you can have an excellent meal. My wife had Pollo Mole and I had a Mexican style beef stew. Both were delicious. They come with cabbage salad, beans and tortillas straight from the El Milagro factory. With two bottles of water, the total bill with senior discount was $11.30. Friendly service in Spanish or English. No margeritas or dos equos. Just good food at a very reasonable price. A factory store is adjacent. Free Parking

Authentic Mexican Cuisine

I usually come to El Milagro and order to go. It is fast and convenient. I stick with what I know. The carne asada (steak taco) is my favorite. I also like their chicken or chile cheese tamales. The atmosphere is inviting although a little loud and the restaurant is decorated appropriately for the Little Village area. There is free parking with a side lot. I cannot rate on dine in as I have not done so yet.

Delicious food

By Abraham C |

Variety of food available. All good is cooked and backed fresh everyday. Food is also well priced. I'm actually surprised that they managed to keep the prices so low given the fact that they give you a lot of food per each order.

Fabulous Tamales

By Sharon S |

Great tamales. Ordered 36 to bring to a party. Half pork, half chicken -- the two most popular tamales. Big hit. This is the second time I have brought their tamales to a party. Ordered a couple of hours in advance -- ready on pick up.

Chicago visit

By Fernando R |

One of our family's favorite restaurants in Chicago . If you want genuine Mexican food this is the place . It's not a big restaurant so it may be full around lunch especially but also at dinner time . I love their guizado dishes which can be either in a taco or served on a plate and they have burritos and tamales and menudo on the weekend like many others places do .

Mexican Delight

By John G |

Stopped in for lunch and what a wonderful experience. Walk by the counter viewing excellent flavorful options to choose from. Had the Special Beef Stew as a Taco along with a Guisado De Puerco Taco. Delicious, large tacos. They put a flavorful vinegar based coleslaw on the tacos. Added a Camerone tamale to the order and was extremely pleased. They were so delicious that I ordered a dozen to bring home. I highly recommend this place to all Mexicans cuisine lovers. FYI they make tamales with pineapple, coconut raisin and strawberries just to name a few.

🐀 Rats

By 12police |

The food is disgusting because the people in charge make no effort in making sure their workers provide great service or even a great meal. The production area located on 28th and kedzie were they make tortillas and tostadas have a lot of rats, insects and workers who eat while they work and the filth on the machinery were they place the product is disgusting People should definitely reconsider eating or at least making sure what they eat is healthy and cooked well. For the sake of our children

You HAVE to go here!

By ChgotoCancun |

The tacos at El Milagro are THE best tacos I have ever eaten anywhere! The tortillas are so fresh (and they make them right on the premises-yes, you can buy them there as well). I love either the Chili Rellenos or the steak tacos. What's best is that they use cabbage on the tacos instead of lettuce and that makes the world of difference! The lines can be long and the wait for the food to be FRESHLY prepared may take some time, but so worth the time! If ever in Little Village, stop by El Milagro, you won't be disappointed!

Excellent steak tacos!

By llc80 |

We left the downtown area in search of some good Mexican food - and did we find it! We ordered steak tacos...perfection. Huge pieces of meat, perfectly seasoned and grilled, served on tortillas over beans and rice with a tasty salsa on the side. I also ordered several different kinds of tamales - they have a huge selection (In addition to traditional pork or beef they also had cheese and jalapeno, pork and pineapple, coconut and raisin, strawberry...the list goes on) - which were excellent. The food was so good we stopped in again on our way out of town the next day. The restaurant is set up cafeteria-style, very reasonably priced, had off-street parking and a friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Find authentic mexican food in Little Village

By Lina A |

What a great find for authentic mexican cuisine in the middle of Little Village. Portions are generous and prices are welcoming. One taco will fill the belly for the lunch. I cannot give 5 stars, since El Milagro place little focus on ambiance or setting, "hole in the wall" is a good way to describe it, but it is cheap and delicious and a must-try.

I Love This place!

By Kim |

They have the best everything!! Seriously! I especially love the fresh grilled meat dishes made to order. OMG!!! Its THE BEST! And of course there tortillas are the Bomb too. Every time I go back to visit I go to my spot. There is definitely nothing like it. You have to go and try it if your a Taco freak like me. But they have soo much more.. All types of authentic Mexican food. I love it... food The Chicken Tacos are to die for. No joke! Simply Delicious!

Great lunch

By MsKnitWhit |

Wide variety of fare including tacos, burritos and tortas. Most impressive is the extensive selection of tamales. Great for a quick lunch, although service is a bit slower if super busy. Satisfies my frequent taco and tamale cravings.

Casual with neighborhood folks eating here..a good sign. Good value and tasty food. Be sure to buy some fresh tortillas next door where they are made fresh. Free monitored parking when we were there,

Huge tacos!!

By Toni P |

If you want an entire meal in a taco, go here!!! These tacos are huuuuge and soooooo very yummy!! I really like that you can see while they prep your food. It's usually packed but there's plenty of tables and parking.

Yum!

Lots of food. It was super busy on a Sunday afternoon, and everyone looked content. The regulars recommended the steak, so that what we ordered. Good choice. And I got the pineapple juice.

Super Good Food at Super Low Prices

By AngieB253 |

You have not ever REALLY had a steak taco until you've had one from El Milagro on a four tortilla. On your way out grab a dozen of the tamales to go -- they're wrapped in foil and easy to freeze/reheat.

QUICK, TASTY, AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD

By Olivia C |

My husband and I stopped in for lunch last Saturday. First, although the parking lot was full, there was motion and we were able to find parking. Then we walked in, the line felt like it was going to take forever. But it didn't. They are set up like a buffet, except you don't serve your own plate. The food is out behind glass and you can see food being prepares. Lastly, you order your food, pay an then you are given a number so you can find a seat and wait for your food to be brought to you. We ordered the steak tacos. YUMMY!!!!!!!THEY ARE THE BEST EVER!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO EVERYONE. YOU WILL LOVE IT AND WILL ALWAYS COME BACK.

One of the best taquerias

By jc2844 |

I've been eating El milagro tortillas my whole life and I grew up a few blocks from the 26th st restaurant, so i can say I know it well. The guisados (pork or beef) are top notch. I've taken more people than I can count to try out the guisados and everyone says this is better than even their abuelita's (grandmother's) guisado. Their carne asada plate comes with grilled steak, rice beans and a cabbage salad. You need to be very hungry or share with a friend. The steaks sometimes have a bit of nerves, but generally they are very good. The tamales are some of the best I've ever tried (my favorites are the chicken). They have an extensive menu including chiles rellenos and breaded steak. Try it all, nothing disappoints.

Delicious

Went around 1pm and place was packed. Was a bit of a wait but assures me that the place has fresh food. Try the steak plate it comes with rice, beans, side of tortillas. Everything there looks good. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is the place

No longer great!!

By tacia79 |

This place used to be a place you went out of your way to go to, to get some of the best tacos. They have become one of the worst places I've been to in a long time!! The first time I was here I thought maybe they were having an off day by forgetting to include some of the tacos I paid for, so I gave them another chance but same thing happened. I paid over $30 for my meal with my mom and nephew and they forgot to include 3 of the items we ordered. Now today my office ordered food from here and two whole meals were not included in our order, and none of the meals were given tortillas. Then when we called to let them know about their error they were rude on the phone and argued with us insisting all the meals were put in the bag, then the woman didn't like that we said all the food was cold and hung up on us. Customer service here is terrible. I will not be back!!!

Taqueria El Milagro

By izcali |

My family and I were just at el Milagro Taqueria at 3050 W 26th St. Chicago Il 60623. It was a total disappointment, the food quality is extremely poor and prices are high. We order the following: Asada Taco $3.10 It was mostly nerves, rubbery, hardly any meat. And with human hair! Chiles Rellenos platillo $6.75 Lots of beans, lots of rice, lots of cabbage----- not lettuce but cabbage! low quality cheese in chile, and it chile relleno was not even fresh. They lay the chile relleno on top of bed of rice and lot of salsa to make it look as if they are serving you a big chile relleno. This is my line: I DO NOT MIND PAYING MORE FOR QUALITY INGREDIENTS IN MY MEALS, BUT DO NOT SACRIFICE THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD WITH POOR INGREDIENTS AND HIGH PRICES. PS: While there, I looked around other tables, and everybody there was having difficulty eating the Asada taco. Which was nothing but nerves.

Not Your Mama's Tacos

By Jsleos |

This place is the taqueria off-shoot of the El Milagro Tortilla Company (if you're Mexican and from Chicago...you know El Milagro). True to point, what El Milagro excels at are tacos using their house-made tortillas. BUT. Don't expect your mama's tacos--these bad+boys come with a layer of rice, beans, your choice of meat and a shredded cabbage salad on top. OH! And if you get the taco de pollo en mole, KNOW THAT THERE WILL BE A BONE: you have to use a fork to get the meat off first. (not proud to admit this, but I totally bit into a taco and got a major teeth boning) A parking lot is available--total thumbs up. One warning: the torta bread they use isn't very good--the bolillo is too bready. Stick to tacos and tamales.

Great Everyday Mexican Food

By WGon52 |

Many established family-style taquerias/restaurants on 26th Street have similar menus and sizzling grills up front. El Milagro sets the standard. Pick your taco fillings and condiments (among the meals on the extensive menu). Enjoy watching food being prepared as you wait in line. Then find a seat and enjoy the decor inside and busy street scene outside. Don't forget the horchata. It's delicious ice-cold but you get a lot more ordering it "sin hielo"~w/o ice. BTW Visit the outlet store next door for freshly made masa, dried chilies, still-warm packaged tortillas...and 3-lbs boxes of tortilla chips. The give-away prices are yesteryear's, but a reasonable budget will feed you well today.

Great Steak Tacos and Steak Plate

By Lauren5050 |

My friend and I've been here a couple times before and this time went with my husband and our neighbors for a late Saturday lunch. My neighbor always gets the steak tacos and recommended them to my husband. We didn't eat all day awaiting our lunch here. I ordered the Steak Plate which is seasoned/grilled steak, beans, mexican rice, cabbage (instead of lettuce and so much tastier!) and choice of corn or flour tortillas. You get several tortillas with the plate. My husband ordered the same, a steak taco, and a pork tamale. He heartily managed to eat everything but had to take the taco home because he was so full. I polished mine off as well. Not sure if you can order a side of cheese, but if you can, you get everything with the steak plate and you can just make your own steak tacos... for maybe a bit less money overall. I really haven't tried anything else here because I love the steak so much! We did get a dozen pork and beef tamales to go on the way out. The beef have peppers in them and are definitely on the spicy side. I love them but my husband will stick with the pork. We're not fans of the chicken with verde but to each his own. The prices are good, the atmosphere no frills, but who cares when the food is this darned good! When you're done, head down the street to El Nopal Bakery and get yourself a box of Heart cookies (wish I knew what they're called in Spanish). They are simply melt in your mouth out of this world good! We've been getting these cookies for the past 30 years and they never change. You won't be sorry with the pairing.

Poor food

By John P |

The restaurant setup is very poor, to see the menu, you have to be at the checkout end of the line. When the line is long, it blocks the door going in/out. I got Guisado de Res, it was OK, rice and beans were bad. My wife's arrachera had plenty she could not even chew.

Great place for tortillas, fresh masa and nixtamal corn

By Janhuss |

We didn't eat at the restaurant which is next door but purchased fresh tortillas, masa and nixtamal corn from the tortilla factory. They pull the masa straight out of the grinder and the nixtamal directly from the bin. And the prices were amazing (40 or 50 cents/lbs). The tortillas were still warm. The fragrance is splendid. Plus, you get 45 minutes free parking!

Great authentic good, reasonable price

By sattelite10 |

Friends who go here regularly called and asked if we wanted some REAL tamales How perfect were both the chicken and the pork, wrapped in bundles of 8 and nice and steamy! They described the lines of people waiting in line as well as the cooks hard at work making all kinds of good eats! Can't wait to try in person!
