This place sells $2 tacos out of (what I believe is) the same kitchen as (the much more expensive) Meso Maya. These are seriously good. If you're ever in town visiting the Perot Museum or the southern end of McKinney, this is the place to go for a quick bite. To anyone who says $2 is expensive for a taco... yes, there are $1.50 tacos in town. Certainly on Maple and in East Dallas. But certainly nowhere else near downtown or uptown. The taco trailer at Klyde Warren Park is slowly approaching $4 for a meh taco. Compared to that, this is a steal and much more delicious.

We found this by accisendt on our way home after a weekend in Dallas. Fortunately it was early, not too warm and not raining. Cute place in downtown that you could pluck out of dallas and place anywhere in Mexico and it would feel at home. Fundy outdoor decor. Breakfast tacos were good and cheap , about $2 each. Well worth a stop.

I came here for both breakfast and lunch a couple of times, although must say I prefer the breakfast tacos, on a nice, hot flour tortillas with bacon, egg and cheese, just the best breakfast ever. The non-breakfast tacos were on corn tortillas, which I'm not a big fan of, and with the amount of sauce that comes with the meats, it made for a messy lunch. Also ordered guacamole with chips, must admit the chips were better than the guacamole. Margaritas were excellent. Overall, I would come back for breakfast.

To be fair, the flavor of their barbacoa and carnitas tacos was good. I also liked the corn tortilla they use - very homemade, with good thickness and flavor. My issue is with the burnt flavor of their chips (tastes like they didn't change the oil after some chips burned) and the lack of ingredients on their "bowls". Long wait for this type of food and a "meh" attitude on the person who took our order. Sorry, too much competition out there to give this place my money again.

Went on a very nice, sunny day around 1:15 or so. The wait wasn't too long. I ordered a drink to sip on while I waited - a hibiscus agua fresca - DEE! LI! CIOUS! I had to work not to drink it all before I ate! I had a taco (pollo) and burrito (barbacoa). Sorry, I didn't get a pic of the burrito...too hungry to think about it. The taco was a snack beforehand - that's how hungry I was! Anyway, it's a nice place, good food and nice people. One more thing...the parking lot right next to it has free parking for 2 hours for the restaurants nearby, that's if you can find a spot. I was blessed to find one right up front only a few steps away. If you're from out of town and staying in a nearby hotel, it's a great place to stop. Good for large groups if you order to go; limited seating (outside only).

All in all, this was a pretty average meal. We were very happy with our tacos, between my wife and I we tried the veggie, barbacoa, shrimp and carnitas. We went for a "late" lunch at about 1:00 on Saturday afternoon and there was no wait. It was also 101 degrees outside, so that may have helped thin out any normal crowds. While they had fans/misters over the line area, it would have been nice to get a little more breeze out where people were sitting as well. The only thing we really didn't care for was the queso. As a few other reviews have mentioned, it was very runny and didn't stick well to the chips. Lunch certainly wasn't a bad experience, but it's not something we'll be going out of our way to get back to again.

At the rear end of the Farmers Market, a nice little place for Mexican food. The menu can be a bit confusing if you have never been exposed to Mexican food before, but there are pictures of the food and the staff is friendly.

This place is 1/2 a block from where my son lives downtown. I ate here 3 times cause it's so good. Homemade tortillas made fresh daily can't beat them. I had a breakfast burrito, Steak burrito and Marinated beef burrito. All were amazing but the marinated beef was crazy good. If you want authentic Mexican this is your place to go.

I ate here for a late breakfast. There was no one there but me, which was perfectly fine. I had the outside courtyard to myself as I ate a breakfast burrito with beans and rice, and washed it down with a $3 Modelo. The food wasn't standout, but decent. It's the atmosphere which is nice. The walls are covered with quirky and loudly colorful paintings. Toilets which have been turned into planters with flowers are speckled here and there. It's a nice place to relax with a drink and escape the hot Dallas sun. Prices are good too.

Better food than the neighbor restaurants, at least is warm and has flavor to it. The Happy hour is a great deal, employees are friendly but, will confess I like better the location on Beltline Rd in Addison.

Had researched this place from the UK and delighted to have found it! Quirky, fun, vibrant and cheap! great place to eat and the chap clearing the tables was awesome! Food delicious and portions generous.......was one of the best eats in the states over 18 days!

Good tacos and quick service at La Ventana. They have an open sitting area; great for a late afternoon spot. Its kid of hot in the summer tho.

Small menu, small prices, excellent food and nice atmosphere. Tacos and beans - keep it simple and do it right. Steak and brisket are always good. I eat here weekly, always amazed at how cheap it is. keep in mind it is window service and no waiters (only a busser). Great lunch to walk over for in Dallas. Hidden on backside of Meso Maya.

Buddy and I stopped here before a concert. Good food good drinks, best part? Cheap cheap cheap. Patio was great too

Tacqueria La Ventana is a no frills taco stand serving good and inexpensive food and drink. Street tacos are just 1.95, margaritas 3.75 (3.00 happy hour). They also have burritos and bowls for 5.95. We enjoyed this little taco stand. During the week for lunch there was just a couple of people in line but on the weekend and evening itâs quite popular. Saturday night there was a line of perhaps 20 or so. The service was very quick. Order on one side pick up on the other. Red and green salsas are in a little fridge outside the pick up area. The dining area is a little patio with tables and counters. Across from the Perot Museum. Free two hour parking. Open Sundays.

The veggie tacos were great and tasted fresh! I also had an elote (corn in a cup) and its was amazing!! We went on a Sunday and they had a special for margaritas. I had the orange flavor margarita and it was great! It is an really cute place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon.

Any chance we get to stop by this taqueria, we take it. Everything on the menu is good. We especially like the street tacos, burritos, salsas and churros! Great anytime of day!

This restaurant is located in the Farmers market. The pace used to be farmers market, but the name creates some expectations- fresh vegetables and meat, tasty food, made at the site on reasonable price. This is exactly what this restaurant delivers. I'm not that experienced with the Mexican food, but everything was excellent!

Good value, tasty street style tacos. Average guacamole and elote; but I loved the elote hot sauce on EVERYTHING! Great people watching.

Great street tacos. Eat inside the market and people watch, or outside and people watch. Fast service! They loose a mark for being out of about half of what I ordered.

This place is darling and we just stumbled onto it. The tacos where amazing, patio lovely and people very friendly. It was worth the wait to stand in line 45 minutes to get a taco!

Located across from the Perot Museum, this spot is next door to two Mexican hot spots, but the competition is no problem for this outdoor spot featuring toilets as planters! It is usually very busy, but the line disappears quickly as the menu, while offering a few varieties, is simple. Try the tacos-carnitas are my favorite, with a cold beer or margarita, which is always strong enough for tequila fans. We eat here at least once a month while driving from north Dallas to GP. You will find yourself doing the same, hanging out with millennial's before a game or concert at the American Airlines Center.

After walking to Ellen's and finding that it was unexpectedly closed for an electrical problem, we were searching for a local place to eat breakfast and found La Ventana. The breakfast burritos were tasty, but that is all they were serving (was hoping for some rice and beans or something similar). Personally, I would have preferred if there was more chorizo in the burrito or if there was something else to eat with the burrito that would distinguish it more from any other egg "sandwich".

Stopped in for lunch and had street tacos, their salad bowl with Barbacoa and the chips and queso. The meat I had on the races www the carnitas, Barbacoa, pastor, suede to and machaca. All were delicious. The carnitas tasted authentic and the rest were very good as well. My wife had the salad and she thought it was very good -- it had some candied nuts on it. The queso was authentic in that it used Mexican cheese -- not the nacho cheese. We also liked the salsa as it was warm and not too spicy. It would be helpful if they could Abel the squeeze bottles of sauce. A definite place to return.

On our hunt for the best tacos, we went to La Ventana. It was easy to find and plenty of parking, which is very unusual for downtown Dallas. I liked the fact you could sit outdoors in the middle of the high rise buildings and eat lunch. Tacos are slightly more expensive than other places we have been to. Generally street tacos are circa 1.50, these were 2.29. Between the 2 of us we had 5 pastor tacos and 1 Lengua. The pastor tacos were OK, nothing too special but I found they needed a lot of sauce to increase the flavour. If you haven't eaten many street tacos then you will probably enjoy them, however I think there are better to be found in Dallas.

We love this place so much I had to come review it for tourists. If you're in Dallas and want authentic street tacos, this is the place. Excellent and cheap. Make sure to use the condiments/sauces. Lots of outdoor seating which is nice. Great place to sit and people watch. It's in a newly revamped area by the Farmer's Market so look for the area to grow over time. You also have several restaurants in the same building if you want to pick up dessert or coffee, or even cheese or hunks of meat! And there are a few little shops as well, including one with some Dallas merchandise, and a huge nursery across the street that's fun to walk through. Definitely stop by!

The place looks cute but all the food is bland. Queso is watered down with no flavor. Chips were good tho. Chicken bowl is tasteless. Not again.

I love Taqueria La Ventana. There are few things better than waking up slightly hungover on a saturday and walking over to La Ventana for the delicious egg and chorizo breakfast tacos. But PLEASE FOR THE LOVE GOD GET A SPICY SALSA. Both the salsas on offer are very bland. No kick. Nothing cures a hangover like spicy salsa in a breakfast taco. Half the time I make the drive to Velvet Taco just because their salsa is actually spicy.

We are extremely picky when it comes to Mexican food AND TACOS! As soon as we pulled in we knew we were gonna love this place. I was born and raised in Mexico City and I was extremely amazed at how authentic this place is. We all really loved it and hopefully Houston gets it together builds one of these in town. One more thing! They assign you names with these cards! Anyways you won't be disappointed!

Tacos are amazing! They generate a Mexican name for your order, amusing and creative! Margarita on the rocks were delicious as well. I was exited that they offered corn but personally prefer corn on the cob instead of a cup... with that said, it was still good!

Best Mexican I've ever eaten. Really cool set up with a ring toss game in the middle. Plus super cheap which is an added bonus.

Fun dining experience on Cinco de Mayo with friends. Sit outside soaking up the sunshine while you enjoy delicious tacos, refreshing 'Ritas, plus great chips and salsa. Never disappointed in this eclectic ambience nestled below the city landscape. Price is reasonable and the food the best. Service is exceptional for an on the go place as they are attentive and friendly. It's a must visit when near downtown Dallas looking for casual but yummy authentic Mexican food. Added benefit, free parking with a big lot right next to the restaurant.

The food is fantastic. The tacos were great with the prawn taco smelling very prawny and fresh! The frozen margarita was fantastic, and strong, for $3.75 a cup. The churros were incomparable and beat any of those I have tried before hands down. All these enjoyed in the open patio where one could watch the world goes by....

Nestled in the middle of downtown Dallas, this is an outdoor gem! The food is so good that the line forms early, so don't wait until noon - start lunch time early! Tons of tacos to chose from, all made to order. Homemade chips and guacamole are worth it! This is a great place to grab a bunch of friends at the office who need a break and head outside for a delicious and budget friendly lunch! Once you've ordered, simply pick a table and put on your sunglasses and enjoy the food, friends and conversation! This is the perfect time of the year to go!

First, the cook was on the phone the entire time she was cooking food. The chicken and pork were dry and tasted horrible. The shrimp was soggy and cold. The elote was cold and tasted like it was canned corn. Never going back here again.

I was in the mood for some tacos and my wife was out with some girlfriends. I considered this a good opportunity to go get some.Taqueria la Ventana has a nice outdoor bar and the weather was finally nice so I headed on over. First, there are nine different tacos so the selection was very good. I started with Pastor (marinated pork), Bistek (steak), and Cameron (Shrimp). They were all really good. They came with all the toppings and a roasted jalapeño pepper. Throw in a Happy Hour Margarita and youâre set. There are many other choices to pick from in addition to the tacos. Another thing to note is you can order all the fixings to make tacos at home. For $17.99 a pound, you get the taco meat of your choice, the tacos and toppings. Thatâs enough to make ten tacos. The food is really good. The prices are reasonable and the service is good. Go for it!

There's not too many authentic places for street tacos. You can enjoy the view, drinks, and of course food !!

Not the best, but not the worst. We like El Fenix in the same building, but decided to try something different on a pretty day. We chose one of each kind of taco and queso. Service was fast, even at 6pm on a Saturday. Our conclusion is the beef and barbacoa were worth going back for, the breakfast tacos were ok as long as you had hot sauce, and our least favorite was the dry chicken. The queso is cold, but is decent. If you want fast eats downtown with a patio atmosphere, you are in luck. If you're looking for really tasty tacos, this might not be the spot.

Amazing! The tacos were incredible!! The aqua de fresas were delicious too!!!! The street corn was so good!! Food came out quick ! Very happy!

Iâve been here a number of times and each time I never regret getting tacos and some drinks. Good place to visit, sit outside and enjoy some great food and drinks.

I actually went to their location in the Dallas Farmers Market, across the aisle from Rex's Seafood. You order at the counter and take a seat at picnic tables. I had the veggie burrito and it was the best one I remember having. The black beans and the squash were extremely well flavored. The size was very generous for lunch.

Located behind Meso Maya & El Fenix with free parking, it was easy to find and get into on a Saturday at 5:00. You order at a window, take your drinks & wait for them to call out your order that you pick up at another window. They have a nice assortment of Mexican beer & margaritas. For $5.25 my steak burrito was delicious & a great deal. The tacos and corn were very good too. The patio is fun with a mix of families, friends & couples. Upbeat music, colorful paintings and festive lights distract from the traffic of Woodall Rodgers.

They keep this really simple. There are three different breakfast tacos, and they are all fantastic. You can choose from egg & cheese with bacon, chorizo, or potato, and you have either a creamy avocado sauce or a spicy red sauce that is served on the side. There is nothing complicated about the menu or the tacos themselves. They're all just really good, and at $1.95/taco you can't go wrong. This is our breakfast taco stand of choice at the office. We highly recommend it!

Great tacos, fast service and perfect for a quick lunch. The queso is great as well. Nice set up for a relaxing afternoon after looking through the farmers market.

Was downtown for a Mavs game and wanted to get away from the crowds and high prices near the arena so we walked in this direction and stumbled on this place. We were originally going to do El Fenix but there was a long line and we didn't want to wait so we wound up walking around the building and coming here instead. This is mostly a street taco stand so there's not an extensive menu. It's mostly tacos, burritos and bowls with your choice of meat. The tacos are street taco style so it's corn tortillas only, no flour here and the meats are marinated and it comes with onions and cilantro. I gave a 5 rating due to how good the food is and how inexpensive the food is (especially when taking the location into account). The one big negative here is how inefficient the person at the window is (through no fault of her own). Instead of having a second person at the window getting drinks, chips and salsa, etc., they have the person taking the order doing all that, so it makes for a very slow moving line. The man cleaning the tables off after people left was really on the ball though as he was cleaning tables as soon as people got up. I'm not sure if the window moves any faster during busier times of the day but if you're in the area, definitely check this place out. I had the steak tacos and the chips and queso and both were delicious. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area again.

Great lunch spot at the market. The chicken and pork tacos are fresh and seasoned to perfection. The house made tortillas are to die for. Great price and love the atmosphere.

Found this hole in the wall while riding a scooter in downtown Dallas. Long line and full patio told me this was the place to be. Great variety of Mexican food (tacos, burritos, quesadillas, bowls, CHURROS!) and a great atmosphere. Definitely try the tacos al pastor and splurge for the chips and salsa. Wrap it up with a churros and you're set for the night!

If youâre looking for simple street tacos, this is your place. Tacos were $1.95 each, and have a good selection of meats. You have the option of tacos, bowls, quesadillas and 1 type of salad. Also has a vegetarian option that we didnât try. We tried the barbacoa, bistek, pastor, and suadero. Highly recommend the bistek and the barbacoa. Chips and guacamole were good, too! Two types of salsa, green is more mild than the red. Since it was a pre-dinner meal we didnât try as many as we would like. Guess weâll have to come back! Margaritas are strong and cheap at $3.75, but $2 during happy hour M-F at 2-6pm! Love the lime-Chile rim, and Iâm a salt kind of girl. Serious con - It only has outdoor seating, so if you came on a rainy day like we did, youâll have to stand under the awning of the ordering window. They do have heat lamps if itâs cold. Decoration is good, but they have some odd toilets - honestly wish theyâd get some plants instead.

Awesome food. Great happy hour prices of a two dollar beer selection and its downtown where most prices are off the hook high.

We went on a Saturday night about 7. It was busy and there was a line of about ten parties ahead of us. Took a long time to order from a simple menu. No chips, they were out. Tacos were small but tasty. Churros were the high point.

Great place. The menu is simple, but the food is fantastic. The margaritas are also very good. The price is very reasonable for the great food. Will for sure visit again.

Totally funky, authentic Mexican cuisine. Some of the best I ever had - outside of Mexico or in Mexico! Nice staff. Joyous, positive vibe in every way.

This place is a diamond in the rough, the food is great with plenty of options and their margaritas are tasty and cheap. They only have outdoor seating so be prepared. The corn and cheese "elotes" are amazing! Highly suggest stopping in this place.

We went for lunch and everything was great! We had chicken and steak tacos and they were delicious and the prices were super reasonable. We also tried their margaritas and they were good!

We love to park and walk over here before a game at American Airlines Center. Margarita is strong and cheap at $3.75. Tacos are great. Good fun for everyone. (It is kid friendly.) We have never had a bad meal here out of 5 visits. You eat outside but no worries. Don't miss the chips and homemade salsa. They might be the best in the city.

We ordered some tacos and churros and they were delicious. I would recommend for everyone to stop by and get some food here is delishđ

Downtowners soon appreciate a walk to this place on a sunny warm place for lightning fast tacos and elotes that help you forget the stresses awaiting you back at the office. Parking can be a hassle so just walk there and pat yourself on the back for the "steps" you record on your FitBit. You can always walk back at the end of the day for refreshing margaritas and a cold beer spent in the company of top business men and women who make the wheels of Dallas industry turn.

Casual dining near downtown Dallas enjoying tacos and chips just steps away from the Klyde Warren Park. Great walk up window, attentive service and yummy tacos while basking in the sun away from hustle and bustle. Reasonably priced, nice ambience and good selection for take out Mexican food.

Looking for breakfast? They have THE BEST breakfast tacos. Every time I have out-of-towners visit I get these. YUM

A kind of hole in the wall taco joint, by the side of downtown Dallas youâll find La Ventana a stone throw from uptown and other attractions this taqueria can very easy be your pit stop while in Dallas, good selections of proteins, barbacoa is really good as well their enchiladas and huge burritos, donât miss their twist of horseshoe game, to close the deal have a michelada!

Fun, outdoor gem. Stop by for quick, tasty food and margaritas. Prices are great! Where the young people hang out.

I finally went to this " street taco joint " with some friends after a Frida Kahlo play , so the mood was PERFECT ! We arrived and there was a line . But the art murals had me entertained. Seating is outside so comfortness depends on the weather. I went because I wanted a Michelada .. order taker said they were out :( . I ordered 3 tacos and it was enough, friends son ordered burrito and he loved it ! My tacos were awesome and the salsa rocked!! Cute idea when they take ur order , they give u a card with a different name , so when they call that name .. ur order is ready at the window. We went in the evening on a Saturday and there was a good crowd. Will definitely go back !

Love the tacos! There aren't tons of options like at some of your other taco places but as good as these are, you don't need more options. The patio is great (no indoor seating) really makes me feel like I'm a small town in Mexico having street tacos. The churros are delicious!

I have been to several mid to high-end Mexican restaurants here in the greater Dallas area, but for sure this place has the best food! One of the most appealing about this place is that you have to go inside to order, and collect the food yourself - they don't bring it out to you (there are no real servers here). The other thing that's nice is that the cost is super low and affordable, so this allows you to order more and not stay hungry! My friend and I were so impressed with the quality of food in fact, that we ordered a second round of guacamole and chips! Everything is super fresh, the staff was extremely friendly and flexible, and the outdoor seating on the patio is fun and breezy with umbrellas above each table. I would highly, highly recommend this place!

After 4 hours drive from Houston, this joint is a great place to unwind before heading to the Perot museum accross from it. The Tacos are marvelous, we ordered 5 multi flavour for sampler & ends up buying another 4. Bowl is great as well!.

Great Food, Great prices, love the locale. We will be back. 2nd stop on our Margarita Mile. Like the price and fast of margarita. Good was great.

Super convenient with really great breakfast tacos and regular tacos/burritos. Outdoor restaurant only, but can take food to go. Serves alcohol and has great outdoor seating.

While in Dallas for a conference, I searched for reviews on nearby tacos. Taqueria La Ventana sounded good, so I walked from the Fairmont to the restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised to find it directly behind El Fenix , my favorite Mexican restaurant in Dallas. Anyway, it was a walk up to the order window. Lots of choices, and I chose two carnitas and one pastor. Tacos were $1.95 each. The wait was no more than five minutes. The tacos were delivered to my table, which was outdoor. They were fresh and delicious. So, for six dollars and change, I had an excellent dinner in downtown Dallas. Well pleased.

This hidden gem is tucked behind Meso Maya and El Fenix in downtown Dallas. It is an exclusively-outdoor restaurant with a fun, string-lit patio. The tacos are cheap with lots of flavor, and you MUST order their queso. The cinnamon sugar-covered churros are filled with caramel, and you cannot go wrong with one of their margaritas.

We ordered tacos $1.95, burritos $5.95, quesadillas $5.95 (with calabacita, shrimp, barbacoa, suadero, carnitas and lengua), chips and guacamole. They were all very tasty. The best was the shrimp(lightly breaded and fried, quite a few shrimp!) quesadilla and the lengua taco. The patio is great with some shady spots but we were there with 72F!

There are a lot of eateries around and we chose this one. Good choice. Extensive menu and reasonable prices. Friendly fast service a bonus. And ...... Tasty food.

What a gem! My husband lived in Puebla, Mexico for 2 year and is always looking for authentic street tacos. These fit the bill! The tortillas were homemade. My husband said their churros were the best he had ever had. My favorite were the margaritas (venture out and ask for the chili on the rim). No syrupy taste, it was made with fresh juices and so refreshing. Everything was homemade and so fresh. The salsas lacked in flavor for our taste. But it doesnât even matter. Next time we visit Dallas we will be there!

Atmosphere was great. Food mediocre. Tea is terrible. Price is good. Ok experience, nothing to rave about. Got the chicken bowl, pretty basic:white rice, cilantro, chicken and beans, clumped up cheese.

We were in town for a wedding and doing some sightseeing when we chose this place for lunch. First off, love the street feel of the patio seating. The fire roasted salsa and chips were on point and the food was delicious, especially for the price! We had the vegetarian tacos, burritos and my oldest son got a quesadilla. Top those with a couple of margs for me and the wife it can't be beat! If you need some of that local flavor when your in Dallas, check 'em out!

Great quick meal! Several families drove over for dinner. Steak tacos, stark burritos, chicken burritos, chips & queso, chips & salsa. All of it was delicious! All of us commented how much we liked our food! Fun, laid back atmosphere.

I'm a huge taco snob, but seriously.... the al pastor tacos ate some of the best I've ever eaten... EAT HERE. TRUST ME

Went at about 2 pm with a party of three (08/09/2015) all the tacos were cold even though outside was above 100 degrees. Salt shaker was dirty and greasy. Not a pleasant experience.

Went for the margarita happy hour, came back for the breakfast tacosâŠtwice! Excellent authentic Tex mex food. Loved the guac and chips, margs on the rocks but can not get those bacon egg and cheese breakfast tacos off my brain. A definite must stop at one of their locations. I checked out two of them and both were great.

So happy I found this gem! I was planning on going to Meso Maya for dinner, but right around the corner is this cute little outdoor street taco stand, same owners as Meso, I think. 2 tacos, margarita, and people watching galore were around ten bucks. I came 2 days later for lunch. Great bargain in the heart of Dallas.

I was craving tacos while traveling in Dallas and came across this place on Yelp. $1.95 tacos are hard to say no to, though you often get what you pay for. Not this time! Superior product for the price. Delicious and their green and red sauces (in bottles) made the experience even better. The chicken was a bit dry. Otherwise, no complaints at all. I will absolutely eat here several more times while in town.

I wouldn't think about La Ventana as a place for dinner. It's a great place to hang out outside (if it's not too hot) and grab a quick bite. It's cheap and delicious . Very fun place. The frozen margaritas are good!

If you are looking for a "taco joint" this is your place! GREAT taco's that are made fresh, so be patient. Delicious Margarita's. If you want a fun, outdoor place with fresh, cheap tacos - this is it in Dallas!
Pretty good tacos!
Had the tacos de carnitas and al pastor. My fave were the carnitas. Would've been a topping of the ice cream of they had a nice spicy salsa roja o verde...but they had the tapatio...so it was all good! đđ
