Yummy!!!

By elizabethlascheid |

They are so close to 5 stars, but the prices are a tad high for what you get and there is always a wait. They don't take reservations. The place is small so I understand, it is just time consuming. This is a place where you order at the counter and get your food to eat there, they have a few seats and a few outdoor seats. The service is super nice and they know their menu well. It is not fancy, but it is clean and well maintained. It is in Westwood Village so parking can be a pain, just go to a lot and walk. It is a great lunch place and you can also get dinner there. They deliver and have pick up. We love their salads and that is what we usually get. Their Tehran Salad is my favorite. It has Romaine lettuce, feta cheese, grape tomato, Persian cucumber, some red onion and black olives with a great lemon dressing. Their wraps are good, but for the price I would like a little more. They are good, however. All of them are tasty. This is not fine dinning. It is mid range, order at the counter, and have fun place. We do.

Don't let the informality fool you, well-done food

By mitch708 |

- looks informal and cheap, but is a classic Persian chelokebabi (kebab restaurant, Persian style) - looks cheap and quick, but is not. It's not a budget meal but is not expensive. - Highly recommended: any kebab with Coke for a drink. Sound like a boring recommendation but trust me, it's the perfect combo. - great rice (persian rice is made special) Sprinkle some sumac on it. - Dough, a mint yogurt drink is great, but easy to fill up on

Very authentic

By evanlaub5 |

My entire family is Iranian, I know good food, and Taste of Tehran does too! I believe its a family business that we stumbled upon because we were staying close by and it had good reviews, its very very small, but clean and nice interior well cared for. I liked all of the things I ordered, and the price too. Excellent!!

Simply delicious

By Soha F |

We were greeted with much of a friendly smile of the owner who was at the register. Small cafe style. Food was amazing. The rice and kabab were delicious. The entire staff was so accommodating and pleasant. Most patrons were local Iranian businessmen, which added to the assurance that we picked the right place. There is a bakery next door that you can enjoy Iranian tea and shirini (sweets).

**FAVORITE CHICKEN KABOB SPOT**

By ohsobetty |

PARKING ======== Street. AMBIANCE ========= Modern, clean, and small. Lots of natural light. Love the owner. FOOD ===== BONELESS CHICKEN KABOB - $10 Beautifully presented. Chicken was juicy and flavorful, grilled on an open flame. Rice was excellent. Salad was fresh and tasty. RATING: 5/5 I'm a regular at Cafe Panini in Westwood, but this place is in another league of its own. And it's $10. Amazing all around. Cannot wait to return. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

The best Persian fast food with a smile

By Mehrdad A |

The lady that works there is very cheerful and extremely hospitable. The food is good the quantity is just right for a lunch. The place is very clean. I had the wrap with chichen Koubieh(gounded chichen) and it was perfect.

Supper Yummy

Their food is absolutely delicious and very reasonable. High recommendations from me and my husband, who is very picky about what he eats.

Decent, Quick Persian Food

By Eric G |

This is a small, casual space with quick and friendly service. The food was good, but not as good as the best Persian places and the choice of rice dishes was a bit limited. Still, this is a good choice for fast, casual food.

light, fresh Persian food in small street cafe

By eyemlucky |

Little cafe on a busy Westwood Blvd. of Persian restaurants, it has fresh middle eastern food and friendly waiters. The chicken shish kabob and humus were excellent. The food is light and not too filling. Recommend ordering a few dishes.

Best Persian Kabob

Love all the food here especially their kabobs...so tasty and juicy. Super friendly service as well. Highly recommended :)

Phenomenal Persian food - Best lunch in Westwood

By Capybara22 |

In a weekend-only trip to LA, we worked up quite an appetite after driving through lots of different neighborhoods getting a feel for the area as first-time visitors. We used Yelp to see what highly-rated restaurants were nearby, and ended up at Taste of Tehran. This place is an absolute gem! The quality and sizable portions of the food for the low prices is unprecedented. That topped with the friendly service is a recipe for success! The only drawback to this place is that it's small with limited seating, like NYC restaurants. Fortunately, by the time we worked our way through the ordering line a table had opened up for us. I had the roasted eggplant dip, which was hands down the best bhaba ghanouj type of dish I've ever had - the flavor is amazing, and it's topped with addictive caramelized onions that you just can't get enough of. I paired this with the addas polo, which was seriously the best rice dish I've ever had in my life. With lentils and raisins and probably a pound of butter it was the fluffiest, most wonderfully flavored, most satisfying dish ever. I was stuffed after just these two dishes, and I even had leftovers to take home. If I ever get to visit L.A. again, I'm making a beeline for this place.

Rude staff and tasteless food

By sw33tTravels |

Did not enjoy it a single bit. They have no place to sit, but they say we can seat you outside. After we ordered our food, they made us sit by the dumpster in a very tight alley. The staff was so rude. Never again.

Overpriced, no quality and RUDE management

By Baadab |

We ordered food for catering. They over-charged for the amount of food that was delivered and refused to reimburse for what they did not serve. On the top of that, their quality of food was very bad. They beef kabob was burnt and dry and the chicken smelled very bad. We were completely embraced in front of our guests. I would not give them even one star as they do not deserve.

Great owner/chef

By hello2you_10 |

We had lunch here for the 1st time. Saghar, the owner/chef had an excellent customer service. Food was delicious. Friendly & cozy environment We will come back again.

The taste!

By Nafiseh P |

Truly tasty. The place is small but the food was flawless. Their Tehran salad with lemon dressing hit the spot.

Tasty, but tiny

By nylabuyer |

The food is fresh and delicious. This place is great for lunch or to take out food for a group - it is always a hit. The masto mastir (sp?) and the eggplant dips are amazing. You can substitute salad for rice if you want to go low carb.

Disappointed!

By Aureliano M |

Disappointed by the meal: the ghormeh sabzi did not taste too much because too liquid, and without mahicheh. Yet the prices charged are those of real restaurants with real service, tables, etc, and not a coffee shop. So this is not the best option in LA for Persian cuisine, despite the staff being very friendly.

Pretty Good for quick less formal meal

By Sally M |

The place is small and cozy. The food is very fresh, kabobs are juicy and tasty. We got the special meal for two and got koubideh, chenjeh, and chicken, all juicy and delicious. Service was also decent. It's a great place for a casual lunch with the kids.

Best in Westwood by far

By losharoth |

Best place for Persian in Westwood now! It is a casual dining place but you will get better food than the other restaurants in the area for sure. I have be about six times now and every time the food has been clean, flavorful and my experience has been positive. Next door is a Persian bakery where you can get treats while you wait for your food! Highly recommended.

Nice place to eat

By Hab A |

The food might not be the top Persian that you expect, but it is a good place to try at least once. Nice and friendly, quick and tasty!

Good food

By Afroza S |

Foods are good. However, the place is not comfortable. The tables are dirty and the staffs are not that friendly.

Like ethnic cooking? You'll love this

By nboyars2015 |

This is a gem not yet discovered by restaurant goers in West L.A. Food is among the very best among the many middle eastern dining spots on Westwood Boulevard. Loved the juicy Chicken Koobideh (ground chicken kebob) and delicious salad, and the lamb kabob is as good as it gets. Inexpensive.

Homemade and well priced

By Shantap |

Be a little patient and you will be rewarded with excellent home cooked Persian food. The eggplant dishes are particularly delicious. Nice decoration. Very simple. I will be back.

Best persian food!! Worth a drive!!!

By ClausJ |

We walked in by chance - pretty sceptical as there are so many lousy restaurants that call their food iranian/persian, but fail badly. Here you get freshly and well made persian food as it should be made.

Authentic and Delicious

By Lisa H |

Our meal was so delicious! Our takeout order remained hot and was packaged well. The hummus was fresh and light, the meat cooked to perfection, and the rice so light and fluffy. We are from out of town, but we will be ordering from Taste of Tehran anytime we return to L.A.!

Persian Food Perfection! Really - I am not joking.

By josephine1996 |

I love homemade Persian food BUT this is one of the very few restaurants in Los Angeles that I don't mind dining at for Persian food. Their stews (gormeh-sabzi and gheimeh) are delicious - not oily like other places. We also ask for tahdig (rice crust from the bottom of the pot) but they said they did not have any left. However, they surprised us with a small piece each which was freshly made. And their green salad has a yummy dressing. If you do not want a full plate of rice you can request 1/2 rice and 1/2 salad. Note - it is a "hole in the wall" restaurant. The seating is very limited. If you are visiting Los Angeles and want to taste delicious persian food where the locals go this is the place.

Good Food, Small Location, and Small Portions

By homantag |

Started by one of the long time employees of Shaherzad Restaurant down the street, the food is good, but the small space and smaller portions may leave you waiting and hungry. At first, it seems the prices are very good. Then, when you get the food you realize why things are priced as they are (the portions are also smaller, to justify the price). The quality is good, and people have been very nice on the couple of occasions which we have visited. When they are busy, the small location makes it difficult to get a seat - and some of the customers tend to straggle around and keep the spaces occupied. Good fro a snack, not quite there for a full dinner. A good alternative to a huge feast at one of the local Persian restaurants, just make sure you are not too hungry!

Early for a flight.

We started with creamy hummus and a refreshing ice cold Coke. The shish kabobs rocked. 5 stars and recommend

Good food, but take away atmosphere

By Trini |

The food was very delicious and authentic. They served really fast, which gave me the feeling that it might not be freshly cooked. Unfortunately the atmosphere is exactly like a take away and not to sit for a longer while, that's the reason I only give 4 points, but foodwise I would go again.

Underwhelmed

By FLB |

We thought it would be nice to try something different when visiting the west side of LA and not choose a typical dining experience. Instead we decided to try this place and did not have a great experience. It is not really a place to dine in and more of a take out place. They have a few tables but nothing very inviting. There was a young girl sitting at a table watching a show on her device with the volume loud enough that we could hear it during our visit and it was very annoying. She could have used earplugs. It looks like she is a child of one of the people who works there. We ordered one of the specials that was a stew with chicken. We had to send it back because the chicken was to tough to eat. They were nice enough to make us 3 pieces of chicken that they use for their kebabs and those tasted good and were tender. We liked their noodle and bean soup. The staff was nice. Not sure we will make a special trip back to this place.

Excellent Place for a quick, home made and healthy food

By bijan A |

This is a rather small place but the food is great!! I eat there very often, the price is very competitive compared to other Persian restaurants in the neighborhood but the quality is far better. I strongly recommend this place for a busy day in Los Angeles.

Easy and not formal but goof

By deterius |

Really delicious and friendly. Food is really good and not pricey, not too many seats and pretty informal but otherwise a good place to get food.

Excellent meal and reasonably priced.

By dmas6 |

A friend recommended that we try ToT and was happy that we went. It is not very big but great hospitality and the special was excellent. We had the chicken, beef, and filet which was perfect. Roasted vegetables and the rice were perfect. The appetizers of eggplant, beans along with the bread were a great starter.
