We've gone to Tastebud a few times. 1. Get there early. The place isn't big and there's often a wait. You can put your name down and then go hang out at Renner's or walk the village blocks. 2. Atmosphere. It's very comfortable. Feels like a friendly neighborhood spot. Warm and modern. 3. Pizza. It's thin crust, wood fired, with fresh toppings and tasty. I find it often to be a hair too charred for my taste, but others like it that way. To me, it has too much caramelization and it is on the edge of being too bitter. I also find the sauce to be a uninspired. However, overall, it's the best pizza within a 10 mile radius. If you're looking for NY or Chicago style pizza, you'll be disappointed. 4. Staff. It's hit or miss, generally a hit, but the last time I walked in, they saw me at the door and looked right through me; i felt about 2 inches tall and ignored for 5 minutes (I started to time it). They are super busy and over-stretched. But if you can get their attention, they are good. 5. Wine and other menu items are all good as well. Overall, worth a drive to Multnomah Village. Stroll the blocks, window-shop, have a great meal.

Was recommended to us by the folks who own the AirBNB we were staying in. About a 20 minute wait (don't take reservations) but was worth it. Portland has become a real foodie city - this is part of that trend. Not your usual pizzas or salads but not "what is this I'm eating?" either. Serve beer and wine. Service good, prices a bit high - but food was quite good.

Food's great - if you can get in. In the decent restaurant wasteland of the Multnomah Village neighborhood of Portland, this place produces some fine real wood-fired pizzas and entrees. But getting in is a drag - because, like I said, not many decent places to choose from. My one experience here looked like this: "There are two of us (my wife and I)". Hostess "No tables for 2 available right now. You can sit at the bar". Me "I see several tables available". Hostess "Those are only for 4 or 6 people". Me "We'll sit over there at that table (for 6)" which we promptly did. Me "You're welcome to seat other couples with us so parties of less that 6 aren't treated like second class patrons". Hostess seemed put out. Too bad, get an education in treating customers with a little respect, miss!

This was recommended to us by a friend. The menu is very good. Nice selection of seasonal, local, and signature dishes. The drink menu was unique and very delicious. We had the Giselle pizza. The crust on the pizza is sheer perfection. An exceptional vehicle for toppings that are rustic yet appeal to the higher palette. The service was prompt. We sat outside and enjoyed the sun and people watching.

I don't like politics shoved down my throat when I go out to eat. So, I don't go to this place.

For those in the Multnomah Village area, this is a great neighborhood find. While we were there, several people walked in and walked out with pizzas and salads. The menu is small, save for the probably inumberable options with a make-your-own pizza. Pizza is delicious - thin crust, charred bubbles and quality ingredients. A couple of tables outside at the intersection. We sat inside and it was larger that the outside appears. Polished concrete floor, industrial ceiling and background music make for a loud atmosphere, but conversation can still easily happen. Drink menu and a full bar in addition to wines.

GARBAGE SERVED BY HUMAN GARBAGE, THEY PUT STUFF IN YOUR FOOD TO POISON YOU. PLUS THEY HATE AMERICA, AND NOT WORTH THE $$

We decided to try out this new neighborhood restaurant located in Multnomah Village. We expected pizza and bagels but found lots of other dishes. We started with a few appetizers-the cheese plate and a fresh salad with a green garlic dressing and lots of pistachios. Both were wonderful. The salad was fresh and very tasty. The dressing was light and lemony. The cheese plate included some bee pollen and three kinds of cheeses. They also included two kinds of homemade breads. The brioche was yummy and light. We order the chicken entree which came in au jus and the most tastiest gnocchi ever! Dessert was also fantastic the strawberry shortcake and the cinnamon panna cotta with really good! I would recommend this place for a different kind of dinner. They have pizza too but we didn't get a chance to try it!

This was my first visit to Tastebud but will Not be my last. Everything was delicious. Why would anyone expect otherwise with Executive Chef Alexandra Quinn heading up the back of the house? Portions were extremely generous. Service was friendly and efficient. The setting is rustic and thus provided a comfortable casual setting for some creative dishes. Everything is fresh and flavorful. Currently you have a choice of sitting at a table or the bar. I understand there might be a chef's table as an option in the future.

Store-bought quality, tasteless pizza. WAY OVERPRICED!

Our favorite neighborhood restaurant, this wood-fired oven makes the BEST chewy pizza and roasted meats. But the salads...ahhh. So creative and delicious. Last night's was the ultimate for me. Perfectly ripened heirloom tomato, slices of sweet peach, diced melon, topped with a delicate white crumbled cheese and dressed with a lovely viniagrette. Even edible flowers adorned the beautiful plate. I was in heaven. If you are a lover of tomatoes and peaches, as I am, you must come immediately to Multnomah Village. It is obviously seasonal, so hurry.

Wood fired anything is the name of the game here Really yummy thin tomato sauce with house made crunchy crust and gooey cheese with salty sausage and olives and fennel Local new place simple decor and started by Kickstarter funding Different and tart cocktails Coming back to Our neighborhood new pizza joint

If you like a thin, crisp crust loaded with scrumptious toppings that don't get soggy, This Is The Place. Six of us started our meal with a delicious salad featuring locally sourced ingredients, also a unique asparagus dish, and a basket of breads. A pepperoni pizza had more pepperoni than I've ever seen on a pizza, and a more exotic pizza that included sausages and apples was divine. We shared the three desserts, one better than the next. A wonderful selection of beer on tap, also some unique mixed drinks. Yes, you might have to wait on line to get in but some things are worth the wait.

Loved the apple pizza!! The wait was long, no many tables but they were not all full. The salads looked amazing. Great little neighborhood. I will decimate come back.

Tastebud is a great addition to the southwest portland food scene. Excellent pizzas with market ingredients. Servers know their menu, wines and have good suggestions

why do these people feel that such lib tard viewpoints have to be shared with mediocre pizza ? keep you liberal views to yourself and do a better job of making great pizza. please!!

Their kale salad is extremely good, although imo a little overdressed. The pizza (margarita with the addition of sausage) was very good as well. I’d heard it was the best pizza ever (?) but found it was pretty much like every other wood-fired pizza. Yes, it’s great but not especially stand out. I hear going early is the key to getting in. It is a great neighborhood joint!

Not worth the trip....all hype but nothing special. Pizza was definitely undercooked.

we had pizza before here with our family, my wife my daughter and myself, we had not been there in a while, but i want to have a break from the world when i eat or go to see a movie not having to focus on politics or partisan views, if i did that at my current job during business hours with my clients i would be terminated immediately , sorry .

Started out good on a carryout pizza.. then we found a cockaroach on the pizza. I threw up in my mouth. Cant find it in my soul to eat there again. Just can't.

Certainly not worth a visit. Not only is the food and pizza substandard but the atmosphere of the employees is rude and pushing their political agenda while trying to enjoy dinner is not a reasonable expectation at a business.

Not very good. The pizza was doughy and unflavored.

Such a treat to eat at nearby restaurants. They have wood fired pizza, yummy kale salad, nice selection of wines, beers, and hard cider. Good family place, and get there early. The restaurant is completely full at 6 PM.

Tastebud always has a line, so I recommend going early or picking up your order to go. The wood fire pizza is tasty and has creative toppings to match the seasons. I would not try to take my two children here because the space is small and crowded with little to absorb the sound. I have closed the bar a few times because of the friendly staff and delicious cocktails.

Dropped in with family for a good meal. It took awhile but the wait for a good wood fired pizza was worth it. They only have one size pizza and it is not small. The two children and I almost ate it and the rest came home. I don't like Kale, really, I don't like kale, but I tried my daughter's and low and behold it was good. There is not a children's menu so plan accordingly. And, they do not take reservations. We did not wait long on a week night but wonder about weekends. I am going back for bagels. The next table was telling us how good they were.

We arrived at our hotel in Portland in the early evening and (surprise) it was raining. We were hungry but didn't want to fight the traffic nor drive far in an unfamiliar city, so we searched for restaurants nearby and found this one. It was a straight shot down Capitol Highway from our hotel. We got there about an hour before they closed and quickly got a table. They had a varied menu of entrees and pizza. None of the pizza choices appealed so we 'built' our own, adding pork sausage and ricotta to the basic sauce and mozzarella - it was delicious! The crust was thin and chewy-crispy without being brittle or dry. The pizza was large enough for 3 adults; we couln't finish the 8 slices. Our server Kyle was friendly and knowledgable about food and wine selections.

Willamette Week and others have "discovered" this place, so it's mobbed by bros and their consorts. The waitstaff seems to have absorbed the vibe...doing you a favor to let you eat there. Pizza is decent; wait is dumb; attitude is intolerable. Pizzicato has really good pizza without the attitude.

Just wonderful! We were immediately greeted by a very friendly host. The wait was 20 minutes and he asked if we would care for a beverage from the bar. A couple of minutes later a server brought us our drinks...I asked if I should pay, and he told me the drinks would be transferred to our dinner check and the servers pool their tips, so no worries. This sure makes things easier for the customer! After 20 minutes we were shown to our table and immediately greeted by a very friendly server. After another drink order was placed and drinks were received, we ordered dinner: a caesar style salad made with shredded kale, house made bread and olive oil and a pizza with sausage and Mama Lil's peppers. The salad was HUGE and delicious. More than enough for lunch the next day. The bread was also wonderful, but the star of the show was the pizza. Every bit as good as Apizza Scholls (without the attitude and rules) with a more appropriate amount of toppings. This is our new go-to pizza location and we can't wait to try the entrees on the menu: the clams and the wood-fire roasted chicken both look amazing! Great addition to our little village!

Had a sausage and grape pizza with friends, along with the carrots, grilled olives, and a salad. Everything was so delicious! Menu was interesting and prices reasonable. Cocktails were delicious, but a tad small. Quite a wait on a Friday night so be prepared 😁. Would definitely return.
More that a pizza joint
This place is popular and somewhat small. It is busy and often has a wait. But, the salads are creative and excellent. The pizzas are also creative and very good. We went at 5:30 pm and got a seat right away. We had house wines which we deem better than average. The pizza was baked in a wood fired oven and the one we chose had a thick crust and shaved fennel. It was good. Service was just right. We will be back. The down side is the possible wait on a busy evening and it is a little noisy as it was soon full. Lots of choices in Multnomah Village and this is a good one.
