We just passed by and invited to sit down and enjoy lunch. We did and had a great time. Beautiful view overlooking the Ocean.

Always a blast. Food never stops Dancing a great Floor show a hoot If you've never been to a ''Brighton Beach'' ''Russian'' Restaurant... This is a must... And you can bring your own liquor

Bomb diggety Russian food.

By alinalbany |

First off, I am a repeat customer. This time was with my woman who is from Russia (I also lived with her there for two years, in MSK). That being said, our bar is very high for this type of cuisine. Herring and beef tongue as our starters... Perfect. Soup, I had okroshka, she had the borsch. The borsch wasn't the greatest, it was vegetarian, which I am not a fan of... For the mains, I had chicken tabaka and she had ....to be honest, I've forgotten! Anyway, great service and food, if you are on a beach day.. Do not skip this place. Someday, we'll hit the club in the basement, should be a good time. I will be back for a fourth time fairly soon...

I've never been treated this poorly before.

We stopped by Tatiana after a pleasant day at Coney Island and Luna Park. I decided to give a Russian restaurant a try even though as a Pole, I naturally resent that idea. Anyway, we stopped by and ordered some seafood and beers. Everything was going well until our waitress, "Masha", decided to just give up on her job and start eating an ice cream at an open table. She didn't come once to check up on us. She later walked up to drop off the check. I asked her to wait a second while I quickly glance over it and pay with my card. Instead of waiting, she wiped off her glasses for 2 seconds and simply walked away. I noticed that there was an included gratuity on the check. I found this bizzarre because we were only a party of 2. When I asked the Russian couple next to us about it, they told me that this is not normal. When Masha approached us (finally), she rudely called me by last name and asked if everything is ok. No Masha, everything is not ok. AND when I asked her about the included gratuity, she simply shrugged her shoulders and said "oh well." To end our dining experience of our lives on a fine note, Masha then thrash talked us in Russian to the couple next to us. Who does that? I realize we may not be Russian, but we are clients. This restaraunt is on a straight to hell, and with rude and vile people like Masha, I'm not even remotely surprised. Remember, there's a reason they include gratuity and that's because their service is garbage to non-russians. They don't work for the tip so they force it on you. Save your money and your dignity by going anywhere else.

Great Lunch with Russian Flair

By Velma Sue |

50 of my closest friends and I took a bus trip to Tatianna's on Sunday for a family style lunch of salad, borscht, fish, chicken and an amazing apple strudel with ice cream. Oh did we enjoy a wonderful meal.

Guys, you are the best!

Russian New Year's Eve Experience

By Richard S |

Incredible food. New courses being served from 10PM to 2AM. Fun atmosphere, dancing and a great crowd.

The place is good in summer time

By NB_NYC2013 |

Been in this place lots of time, the only reason I personally come back is the location, the view, it's very nice to seat at the table outside, enjoying you cold beer or white wine and having some food. BUT the inside is super dated, the renovations are required. The food is good, very much like In Soviet Russia:) but still good and fresh. But if you are not Russian don't experiment with the food just get something familiar as you might not like everything. But again location is awesome, service is nice and if you are in Brooklyn on summer day you will most likely enjo it

Outstanding at what they do.

By pubmitz |

We went to Tatiana last night with a friend who grew up in the area. We traveled over an hour from NJ for what he promised was going to be a unique experience... and it was! First of all from the moment we got in the door, the service was absolutely outstanding. Igor was our main guy and it seemed like every time we needed something he was right there. Frankly the service was better then anything I have had for over 20 years and we have dined at numerous Manhattan restaurants. Interesting also that even though they served liquor we were able to bring our own, and they accommodated with a huge Martini glass with ice and sliced limes for, of course, our vodka. We ordered one of the Saturday night banquet's and the food was endless and very well done. It wasn't high end Manhattan cuisine, but for what they prepared, it was very well executed, Food was tasty, served at the right temperature and prepared perfectly. I told my wife it reminded me of a home cooked meal. Again, not exotic, but done with great execution and care. Through out the night they had various performers and stage acts. Again, nothing over the top, but very well done and the performers clearly enjoyed what they were doing and were enthusiastically into pleasing the crowd. I have been to small venues like this were the performers were just mailing it in, but this was not the case. They are right on the Boardwalk in Brighten Beach so if you are a smoker or just wanting to get some fresh air to help digest your food, you can walk right out the door and be in the ocean air. All in all it was a great night out and a unique experience. Will definitely go back to introduce another newbie to Tatiana!

Excellent Experience

By Anne R |

Visited Brighton Beach and stopped by Tatiana's for lunch. Opted for the 4 course lunch and were not disappointed. The food was fresh and delicious and the service was excellent and friendly. The beach side location was perfect. Would definitely revisit again.

Never again

By Georgina M |

Manager gave us the worst table in the house facing the smoking area, although we made a reservation a week in advance, requiring a table next to the stage. He had a terrible attitude when we complained about it. Super expensive for a mediocre place and food.

This restaurant completely lacks consistency

By LauraEsq |

As a Russian-American, I can truly say that this restaurant gives a bad name to the entire community. Unjustifiably expensive, rude service, no value whatsoever and the attitude.... just terrible. Stay away

Loud center of the Russian speaking drinking crowd.

By TangoNY |

One of the main places for Russian culture on the Brighton Beach boardwalk. Loud drinking Russian speaking crowd. With traditional Russian cuisine.

Great ambiance and food.

By NJ-Surfcrab |

This is a sprawling restaurant, grill etc. which accounts for the varios names and addresses. Great seashore ambiance and food and the place is located right on the boardwalk with a lovely view of the ocean, sailboats and beaches with outdoor and indoor seating. We were there as part of a motorcoach tour and were almost overwhelmed with the fine quality and more than generous amount of food. Regarding service and hospitality, not their strong suit due in part to much of the staff who either do not speak English or has limited knowledge of it. This is on the heart of a Russian neighborhood so think of being in a foreign country. If friendly is important, go to an Irish pub. If you want a Russian experience and tasty ethnic food then I would give this a whirl. Our luncheon was served to our group family style in courses starting with diced, fresh veggies with a pleasant dressing, then a creamy Caesar salad with a bowl of hearty beet or mushroom soup, which was followed by a chunky chicken salad type item in a slaw, then grilled chicken and a spicy lamb sausage, then tilapia with a pasta topping and finally a hot cherry apple strudel with a creamy ice cream topping and coffe or tea. Part of the problem with the language is that we didn't know the proper names for what we were eating, and the staff priority was getting hot food to the table quickly rather than the nicety of bring able to communicate with us about the meal. If we understood them correctly, while they offer a $14.95 special, our luncheon was $25....and it was well worth it.

Great and authentic Russian restaurant!

By Valux01 |

Location right on the beach promenade.  Ask to be seated outside and remove the sun umbrella if it's sunny.  Enjoyed a real Russian cuisine in the middle of this Russian enclave in Brooklyn.  All things we had and shared - starting with mozzarella julienne, Ukrainian (!) borsch, and finishing with pelmeni and delicious Chicken Kiev, while drinking Kvas (must try: prepared from dry bread, grapes and yeast) and Stolichnaya vodka - were beautifully presented and tasted unbelievably home-prepared-like and good.  Service... Overall very friendly although few times we had to wait or look for the waiter when she disappeared.  Found her talking with guests at another table.  I actually liked that the service was such "imperfect" - it just made the whole experience so much genuine.  Was well worth a half hour ride from Manhattan!   Highly recommended for the food and the experience.

A dining experience, come hungry!!!

By MSW625 |

If you have never had the opportunity to dine at a Russian restaurant, this is a wonderful option. Located on the boardwalk in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, this is a dining experience. I have never seen so much food on a table-Russian delicacies and specialities. Fish, chicken, beef-truly something for everyone. A floor show followed by dancing, offers the diner a total experience.

Cold microwaved food.

By Denis B |

Old restaurant and not in a good way. Fast food tasting dishes that get heated up in a microwave. Came with my American friends and was truly embarrassed. Menu overpriced, waitress was trying to be attentive but only when she wasn’t taking orders or reservations or whatever on the phone. The owners are taking advantage of the prime spot on the beach boardwalk by thinking people will come anyway even if the food is garbage. Bottom line: this is a good location to have a drink on the beach boardwalk in the summer but DEFINITELY NOT A PLACE TO EAT GOOD RUSSIAN FOOD ( or any good food).

Drool worthy

By Reignbow |

The drinks were great but the food was even better. Presentation and flavor were amazing. Mmmmm mmm good

Great location. OK food. So So service

By br0za1205 |

A nice slice of eastern Europe in "Little Odessa"...i.e. Brighton Beach. The staff all from Eastern Europe..old U.S.S.R. Many good dishes and prices are reasonable. It was cold in the outside covered seating area. Would be nice to have heaters.

Lunch by the beach

By OxanaPeace |

It's on the boardwalk by the beach. We had done some shopping for russian food and then came up for lunch. It was sunny day. We had 5 people. They had a lot different options. We decided on pre-fixed lunch for $19.95. You can chose one thing out of appetizer (different salads like Cesar, olivie, marinated mushrooms, Korean carrots, and other), soup (red borscht, green borscht- spinach, meatballs soup) main entree (chicken grill, salmon, kebab, burger) and side dish (potato, rice and pasta). Staff was attentive, spoke Russian and English. Parking is available in the public parking area - .25 per 10 min or so. We enjoyed our lunch by the beach.

Romantic on the beach. Pay for atmosphere not the food

By David R |

The bread is good. The borscht is watery. Everything else is dripping in oil. I am told that the food here used to be delicious. Things have changed.

Borscht By the Beach

By Herb I |

Walking the Brighten Beach, Brooklyn Boardwalk can generate an appetite that pricy Tatiana can satisfy. My wife and I had a lovely indoor table facing the beach on a cold winter day. I started with a bowl of Ukranian Borscht, while my wife had a Green Borscht (with spinach). The Ukranian Beet Borscht (sour cream on the side) was delicious. My wife liked the Green Borscht, which was much thinner, and to me tasted like a weak tea of hot water and spinach. We then had 2 fish dishes, me a grilled Dorado handsomely served with mashed potatoes and scallion. and she a delicious tuna tartar with caviar, served with salad and crackers. Both dishes were well presented and tasty. The tuna tartar, which I never would have ordered, was delicious. The upscale fancy Russian decor had a Slavic Downton Abbe feel, though certainly warm and friendly. The service was good if a tad slow. We were allowed to lounge around over our coffee and tea for quite a time, as we enjoyed looking out at the ocean, the beach, and the boardwalk passers by. The high heels on the younger patrons were a sight to behold. I enjoyed the meal and the experience. Note that the Tatiana Grill, a more casual eatery, is next door, also on the Boardwalk.

Nice Russian food

By kar808 |

The food was good , the service was also ok , if you are in the area and feel like eating Russian food while watching the beach , you would enjoy this place. We were there for lunch and the prices were very reasonable. Recommended !

Had a Great Dinner while enjoying the view of Ocean and people on Boardwalk.

By STLRoadWarrior |

First time at this restaurant and I’d go back in a heartbeat. Had dinner early Saturday night with a front row table to enjoy the ocean views, eat, relax, and enjoy. Brighton Beach has Russian Eastern European ambiance. Some restaurant signage in Russian, but menu is English. Now the food. There were four of us. All had something different and all of us thought the food was excellent. Our server Maria was great. She made suggestions that were proved to be the way to go. Service was great. Ask for bread if arriving hungry. Just make sure they know you will be ordering entree’s and not just there for a drink. Menu is extensive and something for everyone. If you like beer and dark beer, you must try Russian beer Baltika dark #6. A pretty nice dark porter; who would think a Russian beer would be good. Had fried Calamari and was light and good. Greek salad, Roasted Salmon, Pan Fried whole Branzino, Baby Back Ribs, and Seafood Salad. All were very good. I recommend this as a great way to either end or start you time at Brighton Beach / Coney Island. Easy to get there by subway / El. Oh, they automatically put 10% tip on bill that all goes to bus / service help. Waitress asked that her tip is additional and requested that tip in cash. Do as you wish.

OK Food, Cheezy Show, Rip-Off Pricing

By bluenote18 |

Bought a $175 GROUPON coupon for dinner and show for four. We had heard of Tatiana's and wanted to give it a try as a cultural experience, if nothing else. We arrived at 8, was shown to a table on the side with a partial view of the stage. The room was crowded with long tables set up for large groups. Ridiculously large platters of food were placed on standing racks on the tables, reminding us of Victorian excess. Some tables were already occupied by groups of Russian families and friends, all talking at once. If you like quiet conversations, this place is not for you. Our waiter Oleg came over immediately, handed us a green GROUPON menu which gave us a wide range of choices in the four courses we were entitled to. Between all of us, we ordered the duck salad (excellent, lots of shredded duck, delicious sauce, best thing we had), asparagus salad (nice spears of fresh asparagus and greens), grilled lamb chops (cooked just right), grilled mahi-mahi (dry and bland), beef stroganoff (mostly sauce, tiny bits of steak served with a mount of mashed potatoes..? Walmart does it better), osso bucco (two large portions but short on flavor), crispy Napoleon cake (bland, slightly mushy), and hot apple strudel with a tiny ball of ice cream (Entenmann's). We also ordered an eggplant caviar ($10) and a liqueur for after dinner ($8). We okayed the extras. They brought us a bottle of complimentary chardonnay that was pretty bad. OK, food and wine was not great but service was good, balancing things out. At 9 pm, a series of singers (two men, three women) took the stage, singing songs in Russian and English amidst puffs of steam and flashy spotlights. Not bad, not great, but hey, this is NY. We watched their reflections on one of the pillars. Then the acts started at 10 pm. The dance floor is sunken so you can't see well unless you have a table right up next to the dance floor. Instead, all we could see were the tops of dancing cossacks and the fancy headdresses the women women wore. Not even the mirrors helped. Then two acrobats did some moves on an open cube suspended from the ceiling. This we saw but were totally underwhelmed. They apparently charge $25 for this show. Good thing, because it certainly wasn't worth a penny more. The shock came when we were presented a bill for $130. We thought that all we needed to pay was $18 plus tax and tip for the extras we ordered, and planned a 20% tip on the $175 we spent for the coupon. We didn't expect that we would be charged taxes and 18% tip on $385, the supposed value of the dinner. This never happened to us before any other restaurant we went to with GROUPON. We felt totally ripped off. Be forewarned!

Only OK in summer

By Caroline M. |

After 2 hours in the subway from Manhattan we finally arrived in Brooklyn – little Odessa and of course, we decided to have lunch in a Russian restaurant. We were quite disappointed : the food was just OK even if plentiful, the service was not attentive and it was quite expensive. We were lost with the huge choice and read the menu for about 10 minutes. We asked for typical Russian food and they didn’t recommend anything … If you decide to go this place, don’t go when the weather is rainy or windy. After a shared appetizer and two main courses, we decided to go without taking any dessert or tea cause we were completely freezed.

Worst lunch ever

By Rob J |

I had the absolute worst eggs Benedict ever I ordered the version with lox. I specifically asked the waiter to make sure that the yolks were really runny. He indicated that he fully understood. When I cut into the eggs, the yolks were hard. Not only that but they were on top of a slice of processed cheese. What was supposed to be the hollandaise sauce looked like it came from a squeeze bottle. I wanted to complain but all wait staff had disappeared. When I wanted to explain when the bill came English was no longer spoken. What a disappointment. I was in Brooklyn for only 3 nights and this was the only bad food experience. At $20US, this was a rip-off

Amazingly great service. Amazing great food.

Steak melts in your mouth. The lamb so tender. Will be back again and again. Great family atmosphere.

Get worst and worst

By Gregoriani |

I must say that WAS nice place while ago, and if you get there often you could see how GO DOWN... They lost the Las Vegas Show style. The new show (which I sew) is haotic, nothing hapend, only dancers and singers, and you got tired very easy from. NO anything to provocate your attention. They had a MALE CONTORTIONIST before, and that guy was amazing. The people was with open mouth looked the act. And that was some what you can't forget. Now - nothing... Even mostly look redicilous... Could you imagine - Show Girls in SNEAKERS in all show... Well, the kitchen is not the greatest anymore as well. Last time was to oily, and heavy... Sorry for the cleints there, The place is not was before, UNFORTUNATELY....

Average lunch, not particularly impressed

By Anna Victoria Andrews |

You get what you pay for, the $20 lunch was good value if the right choice of food was made. We are a family of 5. The burger and chips were fine, the chicken noodle soup was fine but the chicken stroganoff should be avoided. A lot of coriander in things, for example the avocado salad and on most plates of food which we didn't particularly like. The staff were not particularly friendly but not rude. They were quite quick with the food but as said before, you get what you pay for. The view was lovely.

Te place is ok

By NB_NYC2013 |

I personally think there are much better Russian restaurants in Brooklyn and now in Manhattan. What I like about this place is mainly location, when few times during summer time we drive to Brighton for some Russian food, of course we want to be on the boardwalk, the location is perfect. Food is ok, can't say it's the best Russian food, but it's ok. Both Tiatiana Grill and Restorant are outdated, needs a lot of renovations, weird smell when you inside, but nice outside. Parties are also Soviet Union kinda type of parties, a bit outdated, BUT I think people love it, and and once in a blue its a fun place to be, like I said in a summer time.

Not at all what I had hoped for in a Russian meal

By Betty L |

3 of us ordered the chicken shish kabob. What we got were 3 very fatty, skin on chicken thighs that were too awful to eat. Very disappointing meal. It cost a lot and the quality wasn't' there. We won't go back

Russian experience with a pleasant view

By Natasha R |

This restaurant will always have customers no matter how good/bad the food or service is because of the location. You are almost sitting on the actual sand of Brighton Beach. The view is great and you get the pleasant ocean breeze. Children can safely play on the broadwalk or the beach and still be in parents' view. The food and service are very Russian. Food: Just like at home! It doesn't taste like someone tried to recreate Russian food. No, this is the real deal. I had the solyanka, fried potatoes, khachapuri and kvas. All were of decent quality and you get what you expect. Service: There will be none of the "American chirpiness", the waiter is unlikely to smile. But that is how it is in Russia and just adds to the authenticity of Tatiana's restaurant. It doesn't make the dining experience any worse because the order was taken quickly and the waiter was there when needed. Bare essentials. The only issue we had was that the khachapuri took quite a long time to come. The design of the restaurant is very simplistic and a bit outdated but it's all compensated by the view. The prices are rather low for the amount you get and the menu is in both Russian and English, so anyone has the potential to enjoy this restaurant. All in all, there is nothing extraordinary at Tatiana's restaurant but if you want relatively cheap authentic Russian food and an excellent view then this is your place.

Great food, outdoor seating

By Alex M |

I've been to Tatiana many times, I always like going here in the summer. We had a great dinner, as usual, enjoyed the ocean breeze, people watched, and relaxed. Food is very good, as always.

BEWARE, SCAMMED / HUSTLED (see other reviews as well)

By Jessica H |

Terrible experience, the waiters were unfriendly and did not speak much English. They kept recommending higher priced items, charged for waters (as they have no tap water), and then also rushed me to leave. The food is overpriced as well. They double charged for gratuity and included surcharges as they take away the original receipt when they ask for gratuity. Overall you feel hustled and scammed, would never return or recommend to anyone.

Another Great Night at Tatiana!

By hoyasaxa90 |

When we're up in Brighton Beach we always make a point to stop by Tatiana for a meal. Whether its sitting outside on the boardwalk enjoying the view or making an evening of it with the full Russian dinner and show,,,,,, we always walk away very happy. We have always found the service to be outstanding and very attentive. Food always delicious. If you're in town, make a point to go for the full Russian experience.... enjoy the food, music, and a show that's completely over the top and really entertaining. You'll really love it. We will return for sure on our next visit up.

A slice of Georgia (USSR) in Brooklyn

By Gerda L |

We got to this restaurant in late February in pouring rain. It faces the beach and is a large place probably very busy during the summer season. To our amazement it was open for lunch and entertained a party of old ladies and several single diners. The staff were most welcoming and advised us to choose genuine Georgian dishes. I had Borsht and hubby had lamb soup with vegetables. I also enjoyed a dessert which was like a thick pancake stuffed with cream cheese, lemon and raisons, All the food was superb and freshly prepared. I would certainly consider returning.

Wasted potential

By travelerNYC1972 |

An authentic Russian restaurant in Brighton Beach, should be a treat? Took a look at the menu and got really excited.. Until, the food actually arrived... Tasty, yes.. Authentic, yes.. However, this is all the positive I can say.. Both soups we ordered were cold, the bread was stale and the service non-existent amongst our other disappointments..

Good place

By Ron S |

Good location, good service, great food. Parking in the area is scarce on weekends but they have a valet parking right next to the restaurant

Bad food, bad service

By Uha E |

The servants- waiters there are all cheaters. Sorry to say that. Observed that not for the first time. Food is pretty untasty.

food russian style

By toni175 |

this restaurant is located right on the boardwalk of brighton beach in brooklyn--you can eat outside or in--and of course a lovely view of the atlantic ocean--the portions are generous but I still felt the price was a bit much--I suggest brunch on the weekend where they have a buffet style for one price--the menus are also in russian to cater to the russian community---if you want to taste russian style food that this is a good place to start

Did not satisfy us

By travelinx76 |

The Service does not take a liking to us, perhaps because we order dishes that are not traditional, but it is still hasty and unavailable. Judging by the dishes of the other tables, it is better to focus on tradition.

Great place on the boardwalk

Back to USSR

By yuris63 |

This is a must visit establishment for those who want to experience USSR like...Located right on the beach boardwalk the Tatiana restaurant will offer you lots of Soviet era experience and food. You will be pleased with staff and food quality. Ask waiters for stories of the past celebrities. Look around and you will see interesting mix of people walking by and seating there. It is only possible here at Brighton Beach.

Russia in Brooklyn

By seanworc |

Tatiana’s Restaurant is well known in New York City. It is located in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn on the boardwalk. Many of the local Russian immigrants hang out here. The cuisine is Russian. Borscht, varenikis, pelmenis, herring, lox, and caviars are all featured. There is a floor show with many types of dancers, aerialists, and singers. Expect a wild time! Floor show is usually Saturday nights with a $25 cover charge. So, if you are in the area and looking for an adventure, please check it out.

Not impressed

By MilanaGirl |

With so many wonderful options that New York has to offer when it comes to the Russian/European restaurants, this one is definitely not a winner. Nevertheless, great location, excellent food and ok show (additional charges per person). Make sure you check your bill before you pay it.

Great place for nice weather!

By Alex Larisa D |

Nothing better than in hot summer days to seat under umbrella on famous boardwalk and try traditional Russian food with cold European beer!

Best evening ever!

By emilie j |

We were a group of 17 friends for my daughter’s birthday party. The table was beautifully set and the food kept on coming. The food was excellent, the vodka great and the entertainment was out of this world. They had wonderful singers, Russian dancers, and we danced till the wee hours of the morning. The service was excellent and I cannot imagine a more fun evening. Although the prefix price is a bit expensive. In the end, it was worth every penny.

Russian style food very testy and with a lot of fat.

By Avalon_06 |

It was birthday of my brother in low. We ordered Russian style banquet diner for 20 people. It was a lot of food included 5-6 appetizers,3-4 salads and 2-3 different type hot entries .All food was fresh and prepared when we waiting. At 10 pm it was Russian style show. Price for banquet $ 95 +tax + gratitude.Only complain, that restaurant on weekend overcrowded

It was bad

By Michael L |

I used to go to Tatiana on a regular basis, often with friends. The last time was the worst. I ordered Pelmeni (Russian dumplings) which cost $20 and were mediocre at best. They changed me $6 for a can of soda and brought a $33 bill. There was service charge (different from tips), then, they already included 15% tips, and on top of that they suggested you live a tip on top of the tip they already took. If you insist on having bad food and pay for it through the nose, Tatiana is your place. Don’t forget to stamp “SUCKER” across your forehead!

Dinner and dancing a blast

By Lili-du-Village |

18 of us went to Tatiana's on a February night for a friend's birthday. We had a blast. The food was delicious--smoked fish platter, pickle assortment, duck salad with tangerines and pine nuts, eggplant "caviar." Our waiter, Oleg, was terrific-polite and helpful. Another waiter looked like Dr. Evil from Austin Powers. I smiled each time I looked at him. A cast of singers kept us on the dance floor. Strangers danced with each other in great spirits. The show at 10 p.m. was a throwback to another era. Sexy woman comes down from ceiling on a crescent moon, dancing men in traditional Russian costumes along with women doing the can-can. It wasn't cheap, but it was an unforgettable fun evening. Best in a big group, I think.

Good but not great

By Trup |

We went with friends for dinner --- enjoyed the meal but nothing to rave about. We shared a few dishes -- Varaniki, soups, special bread that comes with cheese (sort of a Russian version of pizza!). Some of the menu prices were excessive; others were reasonable. The outdoor dining on the boardwalk is certainly pleasant.

Dinner & Beach

By gaha1 |

We went for a family dinner and was not disappointed. The children were able to eat and then go to the playground on the beach. Everyone was happy. The fish was was well prepared as was the lambchops. Our waitress could not have been nicer

Good food on the Boardwalk

By acheyfeet |

Visited my Russian cousin in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn last week and wanted to take her out to lunch. She recommend Tatiana's. All the restaurants there are Russian and the menus are bi-lingual (Russian/English). We sat outside on the Boardwalk and shared a Greek salad and some kind of Mediterranean fish that was grilled whole. (about $40 for the two items) They were both delicious and the presentation was lovely. It was a bit windy and I saw some of the other patrons had blankets. Sure enough I just asked and was brought a blanket too! This is not a fast food restaurant. The pace is leisurely.

Nice selection of authentic Soviet and American Cuisine

Nice location overlooking the beach. Service is extremely slow. Some waiters are rude and hard to get attention.

bad service

By yelena s |

they are very rude and the service is bad; also pay attention what they charge you for. food is ok but there are so many places in Brooklyn with better service and food

Good food with little else to recommend

By Lar |

Four of us had dinner outside (with nice views of the boardwalk) Saturday evening. Long lines to be seated, very crowded. After being seated, waited almost half an hour for our order to be taken. Our waitress wasn't the best, definitely room for improvement there. Had to ask for silverware, water and bread (every other table seemed to have bread on it but ours). We all enjoyed our food very much. Though it does seem a bit pricey, the portions are decent sized. When the bill came, an automatic 10% gratuity was added (for only a party of 4?) My guess is that the service in general is poor, and otherwise people would just leave less, or nothing. Two of us sitting at the table both were "bumped" by the same waitress just a bit too wide to pass by us unobtrusively. All the staff seems to rush around, good luck trying to get someone's attention.

A lovely experience

By Trup |

We had not been to Brighton Beach for many years ---- enjoyed a walk along the main drag, shopped a bit and then went to the beach boardwalk to look for Tatiana's about which I had heard some good comments. Lunch consisted of two soups and two side dishes --- all were very tasty. I might have rated the restaurant as "excellent" but am reluctant to do so without trying one or two entrees. The service was just fine, we were not rushed and the view of the boardwalk, the beach and the ocean was lovely. The prices were reasonable as well! No question --- we would certainly return.

The best Russian restaurant with banquet menu in New York. And great cabaret style show at 10 PM. If you need to impress somebody who is not familiar with Russian cousine and life style - this is the best place for you. Tens of meals to share. The best day is Saturday night but it is the most expensive. The crowd is fancy and consists not only of Russians. Mayor Bloomberg, president of Ukraine and all Russian celebrities have been there. Perfect service and great quality of dining experience make this place the best option for anniversary celebrations in Russian community. Don't forget to make a photo portrait there - they have a great photographers.

Like visiting a foreign country in our own backyard

By marabel100 |

If you want to experience something completely different, with pretty delicious food, pretty bad service, plastic table cloths, very cold beer, and a ton of Russian flavor, this is your place. We love to go here and feel as if we have traveled to another country and perhaps another decade. The food is really good! This time, we had a beet salad and a hamburger. My dinner partner is a very critical hamburger eater, and he thought it was excellent. The beet salad was fresh and delicious. We will go again and again. If you sit outside on the boardwalk, you will have a real treat, with a constant parade of interesting people passing before you. If you like people watching, you won't be disappointed.

Horrible food and service

By OLenany |

We've been to this restaurant several times only because our friends celebrated birthdays there, otherwise I wouldn't go there after the first time . Service was slow and with attitude, food was HORRIBLE, it felt as it was leftovers from the day before.. Music was so so, and they finished the music way too early. And forgot the show: people like it, I didn't ...

Great dinner show, bad restaurant management

By ATLworldtravel |

I noticed mixed reviews for this place but were in the Brighton Beach area from Manhattan and wanted to give the Russian supper club experience a try. I'll start by saying the show and entertainers were excellent and made a bad dining experience somewhat positive. That's about all I can say about this place that was good, and the only reason I'm giving a 2 instead of 1 rating. I made reservations a week ahead of time and arrived only to have a table in a very awkward position. It was the only one they'd give us that had a view of the show (which was why we were there). We knew ahead that the dinner menu was expensive and didn't mind because we still thought it a good deal because the expensive prices included a unique show. Well, that wasn't the case at all. We ordered some expensive apps (think of prices on par with an expensive Manhattan restaurant only you're in the Brighton Beach/Coney Island area) and drinks. That was fine, the food was decent but not great, especially for the prices charged. Then the show starts at 10pm and the disaster begins. Apparently everyone in the other areas outside the dining room is aware of the 10pm show and come rushing into the dining room to take in a free show (even though they are not dining there) and completely crowded around our table. Talk about miserably uncomfortable, to the point we had to get out of our chairs and stand because we were being pushed at our table WHILE TRYING TO EAT AN EXPENSIVE DINNER! The restaurant staff did NOTHING about this and took nearly an HOUR to come visit us again. Once the show ended, we finished our dinner and enjoyed a bottle of overpriced champagne (again remember we're not in Manhattan). Once waiting for another 20 minutes for our non-existent server to return we asked for the bill and noticed a $25/per person entertainment charge AND a 20% gratuity automatically included. I just about blew my stack and asked for the manager. I asked the manager why we weren't informed about the additional $50 charge up front. It's not mentioned on their website, when calling for reservations, on the menu, by the hostess when checking in, or by the server. Yet, this old Russian guy looks me right in the eye and tells me that he told my wife and I about it when we walked in (lied to my face). I don't even mind paying for the entertainment ($50 is cheap for a show for 2 in Manhattan), I just don't like being hoodwinked like that. I definitely didn't appreciate the automatic 20% tip for a 2 top table for a server who was NON EXISTENT during most of the night. I asked the manager why did they let all those people come flooding into the dining room around our table if we were paying a fee (on top of an overpriced poor quality dinner) to see the show. He just shrugged his shoulders and gave me a look clearly showing he didn't care what I had to say because he already had me on the hook for an outrageously expensive bill. This was honestly a terrible experience and I can see from the reviews of this place on a couple different sites, that it's a common occurrence here. I just hope that the great entertainers actually get most of my $50 because they were the only good part of this experience. PLEASE do yourself a favor and go to the other popular Russian supper club in the area and skip this terrible place.

Russian and Ucranian food in Brooklyn

By Tonantzin S |

Beautiful view and interestin people walking or jogging by. Our waiter was friendly and he offered us a nice table. We chose a borscht soup that was quite good, baba ganoush that taste really good and some kind of Russian gnocci that were a little bit tasteless. It was a good meal in Little Odessa.

Loves it!

By marabel100 |

It’s a wonderful experience. You hear Russian at most tables. The food is delish. It’s a great cultural experience.

Not my favorite place;((

By OLenany |

We were at the restaurant several times, not because we chose to but because we were invited to events. I don't like their shows, although most of the customers do. I don't like the food, it feels that the food is leftovers from the previous day, so to camouflage unfreshness they would drown salads in mayo or other dressings, put more spices. Got food poisoned after seafood;(( And the service if you don't have a banquet there is really terrible : slow, they might forget to bring you what you ordered. So overall would not recommend;((

It's OK

By BigSightseer |

Very outdated place. Gas-station type of restrooms. Food is average or even below. We had party of 9 on Saturday night. Appetizers were OK. For main meal we got 1 meat assorty and 1 seafood. Meat (kabob, chicken tabaka) was ok. Seafood (shrimps, scallops, etc) were uneatable, and smelled like clorox, Dessert (napoleon, strudel) was OK. What we did like is the band, nice mix of songs. And yes, i'm russian.

A little pricey but quality is good

By aruba-blue115 |

Took my parents to this place for an early dinner. The service was all right, and location just perfect with a sweeping view of the bay. Food was tasty and satisfying. The menu is a tiny bit on the pricey side, though.

Best beach bar on Bwalk

By RussianRev |

We came to Tatyana Outside Grill as a party of 8 to celebrate my cousins bday in may. Overall this is a place on the beach so you should not expect gourmet from a beach bar. We ordered steaks , salads and deserts. Servers are generally friendly but not all are highly experienced (chances are they hired russian immigrants) so dont expect them to customize whats on the menu like replacing mashed with home style potatoes. Most main dishes come with mashed potatoes - Russian favorite side dish. Order to table speed is very fast, but all food came at once - this is a busy place. All food is very fresh becuase of high turnover of people. Salad portions are lavish. Meat execution is poor - I would give them a C for all meats served. Dish decor is A - we ordered Tiramsu and ice cream - you can see it was pro decored. Freshness is A as well. Beer menu is limited however they carry a number of time-and-customer tasted favorites, so you shouldn't go wrong on those - not typical Heinikens. Total dinner of 4 steaks, 1 lamb kebab, 3 salads 4 teas, 2 coffees, 3 Sprites, 1 bottle mineral water, plate of herring, 1 tramisu and 1 ice cream came to a total bill of around $240 (plus tip extra)

Pleasant Boardwalk Russian Restaurant

By redeco |

I dined with three friends on the boardwalk at Tatiana Restaurant on a pleasant Saturday afternoon last week. We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess and immediately greeted by an equally friendly waitress who suggested drinks. We chose Baltika beer which comes in 3% and 7% alcohol versions. I chose the lighter and my two friends chose the stronger. The beer was served in frosted mugs and was quite good. Lunch is served in better weather on an expansive patio overlooking the ocean and boardwalk and is pleasantly appointed with brightly colored tablecloths and napkins. Twinkle lights and vines hang above. The wait staff wear yellow and green uniforms and look quite professional. The atmosphere couldn't be more pleasant. The menu is huge and is printed in both Russian and English. Some of the items seemed expensive to me, but it's a seaside restaurant in New York. I suppose you can't fault management. I chose mushroom soup which arrived in a large bowl with sour cream and the aroma of fresh dill. We ate it accompanied by hearty rye bread and butter. All was quite good. I also ordered pork stroganoff, but the waitress misunderstood and brought me chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce. It looked good, so I simply ate it instead of sending it back. My companions both pointed to their choices on the menu and got grilled lamb ribs and smoked sausages with sweet and sour cabbage respectively. All of the entrees were savory, hearty, and in ample portions. Dinner here was a big success. I loved the place, enjoyed the fine service, and would come back again. Make sure you note the 10% service charge on the bottom of the bill. This European custom is easy to catch for those who travel, but for those who don't, pay attention. It's clearly spelled out on the check.

Average overpriced food

Nothing special can tell you about their overpriced food. You can get a much better taste just abound the corner

Horror!

By olga b |

Visited this restaurant on Mothers Day. Waiter took an order for 7 meals, however only 6 arrived an hour later and instead of fish ordered by my father he brought him chicken, and my mom did not get her order at all, then we complained and waiter, who was exceptionally rude and obnoxious, told us that it was kitchens fault.1.5 later my mom finally got her meal but already was upset for waiting so long, she refused to eat it or pay for eat. What a Mother day we all had! Never again well go this place and I suggest to everyone the same.

Good food on the boardwalk

By CarpeNoctum_23 |

Well, I went to Tatiana for dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday a couple of years ago, the show, music and food were all great, and we had a lot of fun. Not sure how it is now for a big dinner or celebration, but it's still just as great to eat outside on a warm sunny day. Their prices are definitely up there, but the food really is yummy. There is a LOT to choose from, and I've always been very satisfied with everything. The service is so-so, the waiters keep recommending the Chilean Sea Bass for the past year or so. I get it, it's good, I just want to try something new! The good thing is that they don't rush you, so you can enjoy your food and good conversation.

Check the bill.

By BruceMa135 |

Tatiana Check the bill before paying. Beware the 10% gratuity added to the bill. For a nice boardwalk lunch @ $19.95. 4 courses (one is the side for the entree). Borscht - hot before June. We wanted cold but couldn't wait a month. Good sized appetizers. Entree is more like a small plate. Check what's available before settling on the order. Some items on the menu were "out" at lunch!! Waiter was not too interested in his job.

Never go there unless you want to overpay for unhealthy food and disrespect.

By Uha E |

Used to be nice place. Not anymore. Simplest sanitary requirements not followed, for e.g., food is handled with bare hands, etc. Arrogant waiters hardly speaking any English. Greasy foods, Messy saggy salads.

They cater to Russians only

By Tom180 |

Was there on Saturday for a birthday, The Manager Micha Bakharaka gave us a table that was not having a view of the stage. When we inquired as to why (We had made the reservation a week earlier) His response was... You don't have to stay, you can leave. I asked him why all tables with a view of the stage were taken and he said to me that Americans don't care. Well, I'm American and I care Mr. Bakharaka.

Nice lunch menus the grill

By BruceMa135 |

Tatiana grill 5-20-14 Price fixed lunch Nice boardwalk ambiance on summer day for lunch. 3 course lunch for $20. 2 salad selections; red or green borscht; 6 entrees. Both cold red and hot green borscht very good. Salads okay. Chicken Kiev with mashed potatoes and greens nice. Meat dumplings (14) were nothing special. Try the meat stew or fish instead. Not rushed, wait service was good. An added Ten % " tip" on bill so do not over tip, just add 5/10% if that's how much you want to tip.

Great Russian dinner and show!

By T H |

My wife wanted to go here to do something different for her birthday outing with her close friends, she had read that this was a great experience as a nightclub/show dinner. It was! I was a little nervous reading some of the negative reviews on here, but we didn't have any of that experience. First, we had to move our reservation up a week for one couple's schedule -no problem changing it. Second, we ran half an hour late into the city -we called and no problem. Parking is really close, a municipal lot is right at the street corner, and spots were available at 8:30 PM on Saturday Night, the boardwalk (which the restaurant is right on with a view of the beach) was full of people walking and talking, families too. You can eat outside a la carte but the Banquet/show is separate inside. They knew who we were by name upon our arrival. One couple had just been seated prior to our arrival and the many dishes of food were already on the table. I mean OVER a dozen dishes (I don't know all the names but I looked some up off of their website)... great potato salad w/chicken, several kinds of salads, sliced meats (pork, Buzheninam chicken roulade, and veal tongue which was delicious!), pate (excellent), babaganoush, eggplant "caviar", smoked salmon and (butterfish I think? -excellent), potatoes w/mushrooms (excellent), tomatoes w/feta salad. Our server was Oleg and he was the best, warm and friendly yet very professional. He politely explained EVERYTHING when we asked. A free bottle of wine or vodka comes with the meal, the girls ordered the wine which was good (red but don't remember the name). The food on the table was arranged on elevated trays because there was so much. But there's MORE!...as we made room by finishing dishes they then brought chicken pomadoro, an excellent white flaky fish in a cream sauce, and great chicken shish kebabs which I could only taste (too full). So while this is all going on there is DJ music then the show begins... great singing (some pop, some russian songs), dancers (Russian costumes), even a trapeze performance! The dancers and singers are really good and festive, and just about the whole restaurant was up on the dance floor. There weren't any kids there so I can't tell you about that, but this went kind of late (we left around 1 AM) so that's a factor. Otherwise there were all ages there dancing, and I mean from twenties on up! We did get a bottle of Stoli vodka for the table, as well as a semi-sweet Russian wine. Although the Stoli was really marked up ($95), it was definitely worth the $95/person for the Banquet dinner (the menu is online), with all of the entertainment you get for it! An 18% gratuity was well marked as "18% gratuity" on the bill, and we threw Oleg extra because he was great. If you're looking for a special night out and can get here, I highly recommend Tatiana's Russian way!

Excellent Place.......service,food,show just amazing.....:)

By PatricSA |

The place, the service, the staff and the food was amazing. I've never ate as delecious food as like here. The staff was kind and always looking our wishes. And the suprises what we get was wonderfull and also beautifull. The dessert was the best what I've ever tasted. I hope I can go back as soon as possible.

Sublime!

A rare and different/delicious culinary experience! Try the braised short ribs which are sublime. The bartenders are great and even remembered my name. Worth the wait and expense!!

Food is Fantastic

By le5691 |

Everything we ordered was delicious and the portions are large. I ordered three appetizers and had to take some home.

Great food, Great view

By joanwaitmd |

Varied menu. Russian classics, especially the soups. Try cherry pelmeni for desert. Sit seeing the boardwalk and the ocean.

Below average

By arsovat |

I suggest you to find another place to eat. The waiters look tired, no smiling and bad attitude. Food is no good and overpriced. Never again we are going to go there. All my friends say that the Tatiana restaurant and Tatiana grill became worse.

Horrible experience

By Tiana M |

Would not go here again. The waiter kept getting our order wrong. We wanted to take an item to go and she threw it out. The prices for drinks & food are not worth it. And the owner is absolutely disgusting. We couldn’t figure out where the bathroom was and he screamed at us. Do not give this place your money. They don’t respect their customers.

Food was not a good Russian food

By Angela26494 |

A few decades ago i visited Russia and liked their tasty food. Visiting New York we made a decision to try Russian food again. Tatiana Grill is right on the beach in Brighton Beach and we loved that. Customer service was very nice and friendly. However, food was a total disapointment: we ordered hering and it was old and smelly, i woul say maybe made from expired fish. Ukrainian borsch was not like an ukrainian borsch- consistency, color, taste was awefull. I believe that restaurant needs to find a better chief.

Great Lunch on the Beach

By blkWeyburn |

Tatiana's is right on the beach at Brighton and it's wonderful to eat in the outdoor setting. Russian food here is excellent and we recommend both the spinach and beet borschts and the perogies which have many fillings to choose from. Portions are hearty and the service was efficient and pleasant.

Terrible!

By F A |

Service is very slow (it took 20 min to be acknowledged) and food quantity as well as quality is horrible for the price you pay. I ordered "avocado salad" I received guacamole. The amount that they charged $16 is horrible. Don't order fried calamari it is not fried calamari but something that looks like onion rings. I wish I packed my own sandwich and ate it on the beach. My husband order burger and fries *( probably about 8-10 fries). Please save your trip, time and $$$ don't eat here. Maybe having only cold bear but not for food.

Stay away!

By Eduard |

I decided to come here for the nice outdoor location by the beach with friends and sadly the location is the only thing going for this place. The food is expensive but that wouldn't be an issue if it was actually any good. First of, if your looking for Russian food you will be disappointed, this place has a menu that closely resembles a typical diner. The few russian dishes that we did have all were disappointing as the meat was overcooked in all cases. Even the shrimp was overcooked. The worst part was the sardines dish. My friend didn't even eat them as they had a disgusting fishy odor and sent them back. The attitude of the staff is typical soviet attitude..."if you don't like it too bad, you don't have to eat here..." lol Well i certainly am staying away from this place.

A great meal.

By ss1783 |

With change of staff restaurant is much better. We lovef the shrimp scampi, bronzini and salad we had was overpriced for what you are getting.

the real thing

By Benjamin N |

many people might complain about service or even about the facilities, but then they really weren´t expecting to have a russian experience. having been to moscow and other places in russia I can tell you that Tatiana makes you feel in some "iolky-palky" place in old arbat. food is good, but you have to know that russian food is rarely better than "good". the chicken kiev and the borscht are just as I remembered them, and the bad service is a must for russians. I had a great brighton beach autumn afternoon, eating and looking at people walking by the sea. highly recommended. and cheap, also.

Russia it is

By Amen M |

Went there with friends; I am a Manhattan beach resident so Brighton beach is not too Russian for me; service is typical Russian "little bit dry ... Not the smiling high pitch American service we're used too; this was a straight face, or I though angry at first" Good was okay; more for tourists than someone living in a Russian naighborhood, service dry; excellent location This gives it two to three stars? Why 4 stars? I forgot my bag there; a back-bag that had my paycheck, cash and other stuff in it; I went back to the place 3 days later to check if I had forgot it there since I did not know where I had lost it and boom once I got there the Russian owener/ manager who had served us on our visit; gave me the bag Nothing missing and with a very nice face; he said he would have called me if he would know how to contact me. Honesty is rare these days; they do add 10% to the bill and guess what they are honest about it. I would recommend that you try Juliane when you go there its the best thing ever.

Birthday Party

By Jo H |

We came here on Saturday night for a small birthday party. They give us the table by the door that I did not like from the beginning but after that wasn't so bad because there was nobody around us, so basically we had this corner for ourself. We had waiter Alex (Александр) who was very sweet and attentive. The manager Michael came three times to our table to ask if everything is OK. The food was delicious and huge portions. We had lamb Osso Buco (excellent) and Beef Stroganoff (bit to salty for us). The show was very entertaining and the singers were good. The only problem I had are the songs they sang. Only 2-3 dance songs, the rest was mmmmmmm, not so! They have to change their repertoire. I was in this restaurant before and I think I'll come again in the future. Спасибо!

Great location

By Jose K |

We went for a family beach day and then had a late lunch here. The food (fish and see food) was good, service also ok. I highly recommend this place.

SCAM restaurant

By Yurii K |

Worst experience you can imagine. They asked for a reservation fee of $200. Later they didn’t deduct it from the bill and when we asked $200 back, they said that they don’t return deposits and that we can use it next time. It’s literally a SCAM! Service was terrible, food worse than average

Scrumptious lunch on Boardwalk

By Aly1648 |

Spent the day at Brighton Beach, a short walk from the attractions of Coney Island. For visitors, you can enjoy the quiet of this beautiful, clean beach that has distinctly Russian cuisine on the Boardwalk or walk down to the amusements that Coney Island is famous for. After a few hours in the sun, I stopped in this delightful place that serves everything from borsht to burgers and is moderately priced. Linen napkins & table cloths-- even if you sit outside -- make you feel like your in Europe. I had a Caesar salad with succulent jumbo shrimp that was garnished with fresh croutons and shaved parmesan. And a nice glass of wine. You can't beat the Ocean views.

Boomerang. We Aussies will return.

By Sidney R |

We lunched here one cold day in September. The place was quiet and the restaurant staff were busily rearranging the stage possibly for an evening performance. The food was exceptional and plentiful. We had nil gripes. Loved the place and as Australians we will come back.

Birthday Party

By Rita S |

I can't say enough, the food the atmosphere, the show our waiter. It was excellent. It was my daughter's 30th birthday and she planned the party. You must experience Tatianas at least once and I'm sure you'll want to go back.

Birthday by the beach

By NC R |

I haven't been to Brighton beach in twenty years and was excited to revisit. We went at night and this restaurant is entered on the boardwalk, not easy to walk to if you are wearing heels. The part of the restaurant on the boardwalk looked interesting and apparently the menu is different. We went inside for the more formal dinner. My family had not preordered the family meal preferring not to spend as much money and order food that would not be eaten. We ordered when we arrived. Even though the waiter was polite and took our order somehow half of the table was served immediately and the other half waited a half hour or more for food. We had brought our own booze so we kept sipping drinks. The floor show was fun, very 50s, very Russians in New York and the dancers work very hard on a small stage. We couldn't see most of the show because the table in front of us stood up most of the time and ignored the fact that we wanted to see. The dancing was fun and people were intent on having a good time. The bathrooms are downstairs and there was a lock missing on one of the doors but it was fun to hear the girls in there discussing their lives! It's loud and crazy in the club. The back room seemed quieter. It also seemed that ordering a whole filet and sides was a better way to go. The people in front of us were somewhat rude but other than that it was fun. We were very happy when our Uber driver arrived to take us home. I would have liked to try the borscht but somehow we couldn't order it inside. The steak and Chilean seabass were good and we had a lot of different kinds of potatoes . My nephew and friends had a seafood tower and that seemed to be the highlight of the evening.

A Russian Treat

By 397lesterp |

On the boardwalk in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn. been there several times. located in "Little Odessa" this place features authentic Russian fare. The view of the beach and ocean are priceless. Been going there for reunion with my Boy Scout and old neighborhood buddies from 60+ years ago. Food is great, service friendly and I get a chance to practice my Russian vocabulary. If you're in NY don't miss this place.

You should regard it as fun - don't judge too harsh

By Mr.Ché |

Welcome to the Russian corner in the New York – Brighton Beach area, famous for its Russian immigration. On the beach you will find two old style Russian restaurants – Volna and Tatiana grill, both belonging to the same person.  Volna is cheaper and simpler, Tatiana is more of a premium, though you will never tell that by just looking at it.  Don’t get scared away, the staff is quite friendly (though very specific), the food is good.  If you are here to taste Russian food, go for Kvas (traditional Russian non-alcohol drink), Borsch (traditional Russian and Ukranian soup), dumplings, blinis and more.  You will get the right hints there. If not, other food is also of good quality.  I has Chilean seabass and Greek salad.  Don’t take Greek salad, it is very strange and not good, but the rest was quite fine. Interesting experience both if you are a travelling to US Russian or if you just want to make a deep dive into the Soviet past years.

Very very not good

By Hamdi Salim |

My friend Vitalik from my ESL class take me to this restaurant. He say food very good like his home in Shymkent. I say ok why not. Lunch food was ok but price very high. $33 for cucumber + tomato salad with sour cream and 1 pastry with cream. I don’t know. I reasonable man so decideto give another try because my friend Vitalik really enjoy this place. I think he enjoy any place where they serve cheap vodka. We go back on Saturday dinner. We wait long time, we get seat. Wait maybe 40 minute for waitress to come by. Not good. Music play so it’s ok I guess. Food arrive and place very noisy. I enjoy show until a man come perform. He looked drugged and not happy. Horrible service, long wait, ok food, expensive and sad skinny man with bad voice not my idea of good time.

Very poor service

By west1983 |

We waited some time to be seated as waiters walked past us without saying anything or looking at us. Gave up and walked to the next place which, as we were seated, we noticed was actually the same place. Tables very close together which meant waiters constantly squeezing by. Took a while to order. At one point a waiter actually stood just outside and smoked. The food was actually quite good and portions more than adequate. Getting the check was also an issue. The first person we asked rudely said it wasn't his table. the second person did at least offer to find the right person to take our money.

The wife insisted on a RUSSIAN Restaurant.

By Joseph O |

We drove 3 1/2 hours in poring rain and NYC traffic, driving from up state NY. We got soaked running in from the parking lot. I spent the MOST ever for dinner for three. Was it worth it? HELL Yes! We had a ball. Dinner, wine, Russian Beer, soup .... all were Fantastic. Waitress, very helpful, always available, great personality. Music & dancing .... we had a ball. All the Russian men from other tables were up dancing... so I got up and danced with them. I'm Irish... but who cares. We LOVE this place, we will be back. When its not raining.

Great from outside, terrible from the inside

By Javierjk1 |

Great place from the outside, terrible food from the inside Since I got to the restaurant I noticed the lack of service, My waiter was Max, He just seems like it’s to comfort and doesn’t push himself to take care of the guest I order calamari first. Not bad, I liked them, asked if they had tartar sauce and Max very unpolite replied that they did have any Ordered half duckling , please do not order this plate, I felt like the duck was alive, loved the apples on it but hated the main course. When ask for the bill they bring the bill but when they brining the receipt to sign they kept the original receipt as the final receipt has the option. To add tip, so I got confused if the tip was included, I had to ask for the original recepit as they keep it for this purpose to see that gratuity was included. Not coming back here .

Limited options

By Ilya V |

Summer is starting so all the places on the boardwalk are very full. And that means extra crappy service and extra long waits for everything. Food is ok and they try to be helpful, but prices seem to keep getting higher and food keeps getting simpler. We went with a large group (6 adults, 3 toddlers) and waitress really tried, but it took multiple (think 5-6) requests for water, silverware, napkins, even before ordering food. When we ordered food some of the items were not available, but we did not find out about that until after food started coming out. In general, be prepared to wait, ask a few times for what ever you need, and have an extra thick skin about service in general.

Not the Russian experience I signed up for

By Ashland A |

I finally took a trip to Brighton Beach for I thought would be a great experience. Everyone told me Tatiana was the place to go. I expected spotty service. My traveling companion speaks Russian. As expected, as soon as the wait staff discovered this, I was fully ignored. But, again, this is not the first time this happeneded so I fully expected it. The menu was interesting. I opened the menu to a full color photo of specialty cocktails. Not what I was expecting at all. I was also a little disappointed to hear that they are not long able to serve infused vodkas. The food was a train wreck. borscht - decent, but I have had better ... and it came out warm. Not cold and not hot. Fisherman's Soup - dishwater with a lot of calamari... yes calamari Goat Cheese Salad - very nicely down and quite good Chicken - mixed. The legs meat was nice, juicy, and full of flavor. The breast was not editable. It was as dry as it could possibly be. After an hour trek from Manhattan to what was promised as my best Russian dinning experience... I can firmly say it was my worst Russian dinning experience. if that was the first introduction to Russian food, I would never try it again.

Great location, good service, meh food

By Ilya O |

Located on the boardwalk on Brighton Beach, this place is wonderful on a nice sunny day. Their main location may not be completely open (fire in April), so we ate next door at Tatiana Grill. Service was relatively quick and efficient, our waitress was very friendly and made some good recommendations. The food was average, especially for the price. We would go back, but mostly for the location and a beach view.

OK, but not good enough for a return

By Thomas |

Went here for lunch with my wife, who is from Ukraine. We tried the borscht and solyanka soup, pelmeni and vareniki. Everything was fine, but not outstanding. With two beers we paid 70 USD (with tips) which was too much considering the standard of the food. Won't go back there, but can recommend the place if you're close to Coney Island and want to try Russian/Ukrainian food.

The Best Russian Food

By Steve C |

Just down the Boardwalk from Coney Island in Brighton Beach there is an amazing Russian restaurant that sits right on the Boardwalk overlooking the ocean. It's like the setting from a movie. I'm sure there were Russian mobsters eating there. But everyone was boisterously friendly. They welcomed us like family. The place was larger than life. They have outdoor tables that are elegantly laid out under a big bright awning. At night, everyone goes inside and it turns into a wild dance hall. There are a zillion waiters and waitresses all formally dressed in black and white. The menu is a book. And it's full-on Russian cuisine. My wife is Russian and to be honest, most Russian food involves cabbage and fish, and I'm not having it. But they do salads, beef, and potatoes as well as anyone. And they always have the freshest meats and vegetables. I had the Greek salad and it was incredible. I also had fried potatoes and some beef on a skewer (kabob) which were equally tasty. My wife went for the exotic: herring, sliced fat, and some other weird delights which she said reminded her of being home. The point is this: if you think you won't like Russian food, you're wrong. Brighton Beach is packed with Russians and most of the people at Tatiana are Russian. Everyone is speaking Russian and downing vodka and having a ball. It's like a never ending party. And it's not expensive. If you want a truly unique and wonderful dining experience -- one that you will never forget -- go to Tatiana. Drink the Russian beer. Take in the sights and sounds. And cherish the diversity of New York. And you can sit there for hours on end like you are dining inside a grand theater.

If you were born in russia and miss home, come for a dinner to this place.

By Alina583 |

Very good selection of russian cusine and dishes, like borsh or hot tea with sugar and lemon. Beautifull ocean view and if you are cold because of the wind that comes from the ocean the stuff will offer you the warm cover while you having your meal.

Embarrassment for the Russian kitchen

By Olesia I |

It's really not worth it to go to this restaurant. The food is overpriced and doesn't taste good. The service is bad and the staff is rude. It's a real embarrassment for Russian kitchen. I would rather recommend you one very good Ukrainian restaurant "Taras Bulba", which is located in heart of Manhattan, in SoHo.

Terrible prices and service!

By Alex K |

We have visited this restaurant with friends on 7/31/2017 at around 8PM. The waiter was practically absent. Serving the table, replacing the plates - was absent. Used dishes stood on the table from the beginning to the moment when we left. The price of some dishes - not indicated in the menu, replaced by the incomprehensible term "MKP" At the end of dinner, the usual fried potatoes with mushrooms, marked in the menu "MKP" - turned out $ 39.99 per serving !!! (For comparison, a rib-steak is also $ 39.99) Also on the menu it is separately said -% 10 "service charge" will be added to the bill. The bill was brought in with the included% 18 "service charge" !!!

Excellent hidden gem

Walked the board walk and stopped by for late lunch, took a chance, hoŵver the food and service were wonderful , a very very eclectic menu. Certainly something for all tastes.....

Dinner

Very friendly people, very good food. Recommended to go to have launch , branch or dinner with friends, family, business partners.

This place is something...

By necorin |

This place is something else. It's like a russian Las Vegas. The food was good (tuna tartar with caviar was delicious), but it was the entertainment that was the kicker. An amazingly over the top extravaganza with showgirls, folk dancers, a guy in drag singing in russian, a guy spinning a fire baton...just...total craziness. A great time.

The worse russian restaurant ever

By malgsia170 |

I had a Birthday party last Saturday. What a dissapointment !!! They ruined my day. The restaurant is more expensive than any other restaurant in Brooklyn ,so you expect the best, but unfortunatly they are there to steal from you. They steal, they lie and they take adventage of you. They have no respect for their customers, they are only interested in money, how much they can make and how many people they can squeezed in.They are not business people. I kow they will never steal from me again.

Good pricey Russian restaurant

By Sasha B |

The variety of food is amazing! If you want a really good Russian kitchen, this is the place. They have it all!!! Plus non-Russian food. It's a bit pricey, but the location is awesome - right on the beach! Now, the taste of the food is a different matter. Most things are delicious there, but I ordered some grilled fish that I didn't really like. And for dessert we ordered a plate of fruits and it looked very beautiful, but tasted just yacky! Or may be it's because I'm used to Israeli fruit's taste! The bathrooms. In the entrance to the bathroom there sits a woman, and near her there is a sign: tips. You really don't have to pay the tips, and good thing that I didn't because the bathrooms are not very clean... But this woman sits there, doesn't demand anything, but since she's there one has to wonder if you need to pay the tip. Otherwise, recommended!

Fantastic food fantastic setting

By jim w |

We were recommended this place .take the b train to Brighton beach.the restaurant is right on the front in a fantastic setting.the menu is wide nut we had some potatoes with mushrooms and pork kabobs. The food was first rate and this is one restaurant we will definitely return to. They don't rush you and the mains are very filling . After eating Coney Island is a 20min walk along the beach lovely day great place

Incredibly Rude

By Suze06 |

Stopped in on a lark. My boyfriend and I were dressed casually, not realizing beforehand that this restaurant is very dressy. They treated us like garbage. Rather than explain to us we were not appropriately dressed (fair information to relay), they simply ignored us until we realized we were not welcomed and we left.

TERRIBLE ALL THE WAY AROUND

By Jeffrey J |

The food was bad; the service was very poor; the people did not speak English well enough - the show was not worth the funds and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Go to OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE or OLIVE GARDEN instead you will get your money worth for sure there and not waste your time have save a lot more money and have better services. OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE has a more you come the point services so ask about that and get your points for them.

Good lunch at Grazina Pilka & Tatiana

By Robert C |

The lunch was good at Grazina Pilka & Tatiana Restaurant on the Boardwalk in Brooklyn NY. This Russian restaurant served very good and large portions of beef and pork kabobs. The service was very good.

Russian Relish!

By RakelG |

This was my first time at Brighton Beach and Tatiana. I haven't stopped raving about it since then! The waitress while a little dry a first, was great. She helped me decide on a dish to share with my son. She suggested the chicken shish kabob and it was the perfect selection. Not only was it delicious, but the portion was more than enough to share. I also tried a little bit of my friend's borscht, which I had never tried, and was amazed. We also shared a simple salad with tomatoes, peppers and dill. I am not sure what else was in the salad but it was delicious. It was a great experience at Tatiana and afterward, we managed to roll ourselves to the beach, just across the boardwalk.

Delightful light lunch with one significant caveat....

By Trup |

Service was fine, had a table overlooking the ocean and we wanted a light lunch --- each of us ordered an appetizer; my wife had an eggplant caviar combo and I order a Russian version of pelmeni. Both dishes were very tasty. However, I am glad that before going I noted what another reviewer had pointed out --- that when the bill comes, look at it closely; they automatically add a 10% gratuity and fully expect that the customer will also add some more; if you are not careful you will be calculating your tip based on a bill for 10% than it should be -- it is a deceptive practice that needs to be "called out" as totally inappropriate and the owners should be ashamed of themselves for doing it. But for this, I would have given them a higher overall rating.

slow service

By ss1783 |

We love the food but the last few times we went the service was slow and people were not seated even when there was an open table. Excellent location on the Coney island boardwalk

WARNING-sneaky tip/gratuity added

By BruceMa135 |

Tatiana at lunch. Check the bill before paying. Beware the 10% gratuity added to the bill. For a nice boardwalk lunch @ $19.95. 4 courses (one is the side for the entree). Good sized appetizers. Entree is a nice lunch portion. Food is good. Service is NOT very attentive. You may have to ask for utensils, water, bread, and the soda that is part of the lunch. But on a nice day the ocean view is very enjoyable.

Never again

By wilolnacoco |

Never again very bad we ordered fish bronzino waiter bring deferent "trout", mushroom was black color i don't know what kind mushrooms they gave us feel so bad

Nice interesting food on the beach

By Schipa |

We were two couples with three kids for lunch. They seated us immediately at a very nice table overlooking the beach and graciously tried to explain various Russian dishes. No complaints whatsoever. We found the food really delicious (not that we are experts in Russian food), hearty, consisting of generous portions, and very reasonable by New York standards. 7 of us ate for one hundred dollars and we ate extremely well--borscht, Vareniki with meat, and sweet cheese (our favorite), pelmeni, sour cabbage and sausages with shpikhachki. We definitely would go back and this is much better than we expected in a rather tawdry stretch of Coney Island.

The worst experience ever!!!

By OLenany |

We went to Tatyana Grill yesterday Absolutely horrible. The place is totally rubbish. Dirty, filthy. Food was horrible also. It doesn’t even have the ambience of a restaurant, the ceiling is super low, it feels like you are in a basement. feels like a trash place. We went for banquet there. And everything was just horrible. Food disgusting, music horrible and the sound was too. The waiter was kind of nice , he tried to be fast and kind of efficient. But even the look of all the waiters was not neat, they had white shirts, which lost their white color so long ago. I think for the variety of food they had for banquet they charged too much $$$$. The food was too scarce. All of us were hungry. Salads were not fresh at all. They had mash potatoes and stew for banquet!!! What the hell??? That’s what we cook at home for every day, not a special occasion. Then we had deserts. Fruit plate: strawberries were rotten, they literally sugar coated that ( with confectioners sugar) So as for music. They have one person who sings. Was not impressed at all, the music he was playing it was impossible even to listen to: poor chanson songs!!!! He was nice enough to put songs that people requested. On top of everything there was a ROACH on our table, when we called our water and showed it to him, he said “Roach- here- impossible”. He didn’t even took it from the table and just left it there. Avoid this place!!!!

Great place

Great location by the ocean. The food is great /delicious. The menu is long with huge variety of russian food.Anything you order it tastes delicious.

Lovely food, great pelmeni!

This place serves one of the tastiest pelmeni dishes I have ever eaten anywhere and I have had quite a lot, in Russia, Europe and the US. Would come back for these!

A Fun Mini-Vacation in the Urals

By LeeBee386 |

We love to go to one of the several Tatiana's on the boardwalk at Brighton Beach. The food is always interesting and good, the menu quite is quite varied, the drinks are strong and the service is Russian - which explains some of the complaints by others, but really it gives one the feeling of being somewhere far away and exotic. We live in the other end of Brooklyn but always make sure to make at least one trip to Tatiana each summer.

Real Russian Restaurant with a show

By MeetMeInNYC |

First at all you need to understand that you are into a Russian restaurant serving authentic Russian food... You will be surprised by the wide menu and also by the large plates! Dinner time is very romantic and also has this unique Russian vibe: you feel in Russia! Saturday they have a show I will describe as a Cabaret style with dancer on stage! we simply loved it. So if you are near Brooklyn you should definitely try!

Nice place for a respite.

By HeckTClem |

While walking the Coney Island boardwalk my family and I got tired and hungry. Fortunately Tatiana's was there. All three of us had burger type sandwiches and I had the beer duck burger which was superior. The fries there were excellent, in fact all the food was excellent. The server had been in the United States for only two weeks from Belarus. This added a fun component to the event as we found out a little bit about each other. I look forward to next time I'm in Coney Island I'll be planning to stop off at Tatiana beach bar.

Overcharged..........Overcharged..........Overcharged..........Overcharged..........Stay Away..............Stay Away....

By kingmortgagebanker |

I was at Tatiana Restaurant yesterday ( i have been there many times of the years and decades, since i live next door ) and i ordered one of their Hamburger Platter meals. after receiving the entree , i noticed that there where Pickles ( what burgers , with the works, have NO pickles ??? ) , so i requested the waitress for some or at least one pickles, after a few minutes , she brings me 4 small pickles. at the end of my meal, i get the check, and guess what, they charged me ELEVEN DOLLARS for these 4 pickles , Wowwwwww !!! i immediately asked for an explanation, first she said it was just her 2nd day at work, then some wannabe manager girl comes with a menu, trying to show me some price list . i just told her some veryyyyyyyyyy basic common sence, that burgers , here in america, and not in some 3rd world country, come with the basic stuff, like pickles. she gave me the 'deer in headlights' look, after a few more wasted minutes of trying basic logic and common sense, and nothing working, i just paid the bill and walked home. also i love how these russian restaurants ALWAYS charge you a service charge, even when the service sucks or when they try to rip you off. as the saying goes, you can leave russia / ussr but you can't leave the ussr out of you

Absolute institution. Run, don't walk. We had a bit of a Slavic feast, with the pickle plate, borshch, pelmeni, varenyky, etc. Super delicious.

Great location and excellent Food

By Paul Mckay |

After walking from Coney Island along the Boardwalk our group decided on Tatiana Restaurant for lunch, The kebabs and pelmeni were outstanding, so much so that a few days later, when there were just the two of us we returned for dinner. Arrive before sunset, have a drink and take in the early evening views on the Boardwalk, especially during the summer. The food is excellent and finish off with a Beluga Vodka. Okay the service isn't the all singing all dancing New York style that you get in Manhattan and elsewhere in the City, but this is a traditional Russian restaurant with Russian staff who cater mostly for Russian customers so I reckon you have to take all of this into consideration and taking this into consideration we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, occasionally absent serving staff included.

Nothing special

By Art A |

We haven't been I russian restaurant for very long time. First time in NY and we've decided to go to Brooklyn and Brighton Beach. After 10 min. In russian groceries stores area we knew most of the news of community . The funny. Thing was: it seems like you've seen many of the people somewhere before. Seems like there are all from the history. Beach itself is nice. Tatiana restaurant located in perfect location with ocean view. Service was ok. The waitress was working hard and she tried to help us with menu. Speed was good, we haven't waited long for our food arrived. Menu is traditional, simple and comfort. Decoration of the restaurant is very basic. I would put solid 3 stars for the food and service. Don't expect to have Cote de Rhone or Chianti in the vine list. I think during the summer time it fantastic place to hang out and watch people after few vodka shots. Enjoy.

Awful - do not go

By Deb F |

On arrival the staff were rude and totally uninterested in seating us. They virtually threw the plates and menus at us. I will go as far as saying the staff were hostile. The restaurant was quiet and lots of tables were available......we were told when the waitress arrived that there is a minimum order of $15 per person......we left at that point !

Perfect place

By Patrik R |

I once worked there as a bass player, lived a little in the USA, it is unlikely that these people will read this, but still words of gratitude to Sasha Lvovsky, who convinced me that there is no need to stay in the USA....he is a good, kind and very correct person... .it was really a very long time ago...Kostya from Moldova, Yulia from Tashkent, Oleksandr from Ivano-Frankovsk, from St. Petersburg I forgot his name “gynecologist”...Rosa from Tashkent

Awful Service and rude wait staff

By Brian S |

Went out with some friends to spend a nice day on Brighton Beach. We were told this was a great restaurant but unfortunately this service was abysmal. We got served drinks immediately but then waited at least 45 minutes for an update on the food. Had to wait an additional 15 minutes with promises that the food would come and it never came. The wait staff and management was very rude. We paid the bill and walked out without ever getting our food. We were not the only ones in this situation. Many people did the same thing.

The restaurants were I try food or drink.

By olteya2016 |

3. The restaurant and grill named Tatianna in New York on Brighton Beach, sells to the clients poison fish.

What a horrible place!!!

By Bijou83 |

First of all, our server was extremely rude. He tried to make us order much more food that we are able to eat. After he took our order, he never showed up at our table until he presented the check. He included service charge for our table of four when the menu warned about that the gratuity will be included for the table of five and more. He was literally standing at our table when we needed to sign our credit card slip in order to make sure we give him extra tip which he did not deserve for his job. Nothing on credit card slip indicated that the tip was included, even though when we asked he admitted that tip was included. So beware when you pay the bill!!! The food was blant and overpriced!!! Disguisting presentation and poor combination of flavors! The Friday night show was completely dated and good only for old soviet union immigrants who didn't see anything but brighton beach cultural pathetic life. I felt embarassed to bring my non-russian friends over there. Dear management, I have a feeling that you do not care about your business. Do not expect that your restaurant will run sucessfully by itself. I am sssoooo dissapointed. People if you want to visit nice Russian-Ukrainian restaurant, I recommend Marivanna in Manhattan. Do not even waste your time in pathetic Tatiana.
