I Went there with a group of six graders. When faced with a difficult choices of where 10 people could eat I had my doubts that we would be able to satisfy all of them when some of them requested Ramen. However, everybody was able to customize their dish and find something that they enjoyed. It was very busy and Had communal style tables where eventually we were able to accommodate the large group but that was the most challenging part.

had a week in LA and hit this joint twice. Customizing your ramen in the ipad before ordering was a novelty but the flavours were excellent. The place is quite small, thus waiting in line is part of the thrill. wont regret

I have traveled a lot and I always look for a place to eat ramen. after a difficult search, I found this place. And I can say that its delicious. the atmosphere and the place 10 points. definitely a place to go. reasonable prices!

I've only been to the Melrose and La Brea location, but I've returned several times. Sure, Tatsu Ramen is a little on the hipster side architecturally and branding-wise, but the slick package delivers an almost perfect ramen experience The broth has depth and interesting flavor notes without being overpowering. The noodles are made fresh every day in front of the house, and have the right "plink" when bitten into. And the garnishes always seem perfectly prepared and well considered In terms of each other. The pork, in particular, melts in your mouth. The " Sides" menu is wonderful, and offers a nice change of pace from ramen alone, and the pricing is very reasonable given the high quality here. There are few better places for a quick, delicious, healthful meal. Eat here.

after road trip, we stop to this ramen restaurant , we really love it, delicious ramen, best ramen I ever try, order in the Ipad, pay, take your seat and enjoy your ramen

A great little Ramen joint that we wouldn't know about in a million years, but local friends who know what good food is took us there. A crowded place, but with very friendly service, so you wait patiently till there is a vacant seat. The Ramen was superb. And they also have free valet parking. We will definitely come back the next time we'll visit LA.

Not your typical Japanese ramen house. You can add a lot more flavor and spice according to your taste. I love the ability to be able to customize your meal. If you like spicy, this is the place to have your ramen noodles!

So good. We tried n ordered few type of ramen n even the rice bowl.. Fantastic.. Will coming back here again n again.. Fast , more like a self service , waitress very helping

Iāve searched out ramen in many cities, but I have to say that I ā¤ļø the CHEEKY RAMEN!! Itās all chicken based with a rich, amazing, almost creamy broth. Oh my!! I almost didnāt get it because I worried it would be bland, but oh no! It was delish!! The egg, chicken & onions in it were awesome too! Of course I spiced it up a bit with the little red dab of spice paste that came on the side of the bowl and then added some of the seasoning options on the table. Donāt forget to mince you up a little fresh garlic thatās right at the table! My hubby ordered the BOLD RAMEN & it looked nothing like the picture. He enjoyed it, but loved mine better! Donāt forget to get a SIDE OF NAKED NOODLES to add to your bowl & a SIDE OF FRIED RICE! Soooooooo yummy! Add the rice to the left over broth!š You will order outside from iPad stands and then wait for a table or get it to go. We went on Wednesday night late, like 11pm and still had to wait nearly an hour. SO WORTH IT! Small place and not too good for a large group. I bet thereās only enough seating for 30ish peeps. Service was great! I will go back to this place a few times before flying back to Idaho!

Great fresh ramen. Loads of different topings. Very cool ipad prdering system. Sake, Kirin and Ramune soda. Check it out! You'll be back.

Been to this place a few times and been the best by far. Offer various Ramen, You may have to wait a while for seating but it's worth it. Starting by order it on the iPads right outside and they'll text you once your table is ready. I've been to a few Ramen places in LA and so far this place is the best for it.

I grew up in Los Angeles California, but my parents were not foodies and I never knew that Japan town was a thing. But my husband is and he found this place that is recommended as one of the top Ramen places to go in the city. The wait was over an hour when we got there. However, be advised that you can check in at the iPads that are outside the front of the restaurant. You can place your order for eat in order to go. And then you can give them your cell phone number and they will text you when your table is ready or when your order is ready to go. We put in our order and then went down the strip mall a little ways and had some appetizers at another restaurant while we waited, which were also fabulous. The other thing we wished we had known in advance was that even though it is a strip mall, you can pull in and there is valet parking for free for all of the eateries in that strip mall. We did not know that and made the choice to park a couple blocks away for $10 instead. Next time we will just pull in and see if they can find a place for our car. With regard to the food, it was fantastic! We ordered the red ramen, the soul ramen and four juicy pork buns. Because we had already eaten potstickers and some buns at another place between the four of us we were able to eat all of these pork buns, but we finished the Ramen no problem. It was absolutely fantastic. We would definitely go here again and wait in line again. But I also highly recommend a place a few doors down that just opened December 2017 called Tasty Noodle House. Also Tatsu has another location across the street but the wait will likely be similar.

Great vegan ramen! Ordered the hippie ramen which has vegan broth with tofu and ate every last bite. Was hoping to try the veggie fried rice, but it was sold out by the time we got there. We needed a table for 6 outside on a Sunday for lunch and seating is very limited. You order outside on an iPad and then they will call your number to seat you. If you sit inside, you may sit at a big square table with other parties. We waited about 30-45 minutes for a table and once seated, still waited a bit for our food. The food was worth the wait though!

Love this place. The ramen was high quality, loved that you ordered beforehand on the IPad and the service was very good. Valet parking was nice as well (pay by tip only for Valet)

The ramen is really good, but everything else is horrible. The incompetence of the management staff is pervasive. Wait times that are off by an hour and cause crowds to gather (illegally) in front of the store. Today, they canceled an order 20 minutes before delivery even though it was ordered three hours in advance. If you want to get grossed out, when the restaurant opens again for dine-in, try walking to the bathroom. The grease coating the floor is not only dangerous but disgusting.

Amazing ramen! The thin noodles are cooked al dente as they are meant to be. Chashu pork tasty and generous portion. Soup so flavourful. Reasonably priced and super friendly service. Highly recommend.

Ramen tasted good but too rich and heavy for my taste. I wished they had better side dishes. Service was smooth and fast.

There was a line on the sidewalk but it moved quickly. You order at a kiosk so it was a little overwhelming. I ordered more food than we needed. The chicken rice came first it had a slight sweet flavor and was very good. The 4 ramens I ordered were also very good. The red was probably our favorite but I donāt remember itās name.

We always like to find smaller venues for eating out when traveling. This Asian restaurant was really a great find! Overall the decor is understated and really nothing special but the food and presentation of the plates (or lack of) was truly unique and most appealing. I strongly suggest a try.

Some of the best ramen Iāve had since Tokyo. Order on the iPads out front and theyāll text when ready. Cheap, flavorful, and firm but delicious noodles. Spiciness was customizable. This is how ramen is done and I will return!

We got there on a busy night.m, there was quite a line but the manager worked hard to get everyone seated asap. There was this one incident, a rude man decided to cut the line because āno one is using the ipad (that takes your order) so i can go ahead and use itā, not tatsuās fault obviously but it did make a lot of people uncomfortable and the manager couldnāt do anything. Once we got seated we got our ramen bowls and our burger! What a treat! Each plate has itās own unique flavor and it was perfect! Would definitely go back

This was one of the best meals I've ever had. I kid you not, a bowl of Tatsu Ramen is the single thing I look forward to the most when I come to Los Angeles. Their vegan broth with added spinach is divine.

I wouldn't call it the best ramen I've had, but it's pretty good. Service is fast unless you try going during peak times Friday or Saturday evenings. There aren't very many seats so you could be waiting longer for a seat than your actual food. Ordering from the iPads reminds me of ordering from the pay machines in ramen shops in Tokyo. The food is fresh. Simple menu, but you can customize bowls. There are a couple other ramen places in the area, but I find myself returning to Tatsu over and over again.

I love everything here. From the ramen to the pork rice. Must try the old fashioned ramen, the naked ramen and the pork rice. The prices are reasonable, too.

a nice modern styled restaurant serving various Ramen. I had the Hippie Ramen or Vegan Ramen with Tofu. It tasted quite well but not typically Japanese as I know from my Japan trips. The less Miso taste is very nice and I enjoyed. All Ramen are with 15 USD and more quite expensive.

I love everything about this place. From ordering your food on wall mounted iPads to the friendly staff and of course the most delicious ramen I have ever tasted. I visit LA every other month and always visit Tatsu. I must confess I've even eaten here two days in a row. I've also enjoyed their take on a pork bun and it's fabulous. It's very casual and they have a few outside tables as well as a bar (you can watch them cook) and a large community table. Each table has a wide selection of condiments to personalize your food to your taste.

This ramen place is located in west LA area among many Japanese restaurants. Very crowd especially UCLA students. I waited for almost one hour after placing order and paying through ipad. Soul ramen is good. Nice soup with ground pork and fresh garlic.

Went here because I noticed every time I drive by the place is packed. They have 3 iPads from which customers order so the wait was a little long when people are taking some time to decide their orders. Then you take your receipt and wait to be seated. Seating is tight because the location is tiny. BTW parking sucks. We actually parked in the back, can't remember how much I paid, but anyhoo... Finally got seated. The tables are tiny, and we were seated in bar stools, so no resting my back. They finally brought our food. I ordered the soul ramen, it was good but the broth was very salty so I couldn't finish it. Also ordered the fried rice. Small serving but it was good; and I ordered the pork buns which was my favorite thing on the menu. The meat was tasty, the bun soft and fluffy, and the portion size was substantial compared to some other places. I'm not sure I would rush back here, although they stay open very late I think 2 or 3 am, but I would definitely go back for the pork buns!

Waited long time but 12 empty chairs in outdoor tables, after complaint by a man, female manager started to assign. Recommend bold ramen and fried rice, food is yummy!

Good restaurant for two reasons. Reason One, I really love to eat ramen. Reason Two, my friends have a spectrum of eating profiles -- along this spectrum are fish and meat eaters to vegans and vegetarians for which Tatsu Ramen can deliver by absolutely pleasing every persons' palate. So, grab a seat because you are going to experience some good eats here! A pretty convenient location too as my friends live right around the corner on Beloit.

Got tired of 405 traffic and decided to find a place to eat. I have never gotten ramen before but I stumbled onto this place looking at suggestions in the area from TripAdvisor. The food is amazing with a crowd of frequent patrons and an easy system for novices like me. They have an tablet outside where you order and customize your food and pay. The menu is easy and quick. Was quickly seated after ordering and then the food came out. It was delicious, the soft boiled egg was like butter and the meat very well prepared. Great place to stop just off the 405.

This ramen restaurant very close to Santa Monica airpark is the place to go for late night ramen. They keep the menu simple and prices very reasonable. The staff is very friendly and the ramen broth like nothing I've tasted before! We were visiting Venice beach from Phoenix and had heard a lot about the ramen restaurants in L.A. Tatsu Ramen certainly exceeded our expectations!

The staff and crowd were all cool and helpful. Super tastee vegan broth and many other options sitting at the counter is sweet!

This place it's so good vegan ramen! Me and my wife every week here and then we going to ice cream and little damage at dtla ā¤ļø this is a must try

A nice hot bowl of Ramen noodles outside of the traditional flavors. Going in you order on some electronic tablets that made it easy. The place is small so expect to get in and out quickly, also don't forget to order your water as it's listed on the drink menu. Also if you're a little hungry order some extra noodles. Overall we had a nice meal but expected the ambiance to be a Lyle nicer.

through our california roadtrip wie stopped here for some NON FAST FOOD, and it was awesome! Waiterss was nice and the order with iPad was really funny. the cook gave us some spciality for free :-)

Love their Ramen! It can get crowded during rush hours but the service is fast. Everything is yummy!

This was my first time eating Ramen and I loved it! I really liked the ordering system as I could customize my own meal. The prices are good and so is the service. I would eat here again.

Came here for dinner after an afternoon at the beach. We haven't been back here for a few years and glad we were able to fit it in. The seating and ordering process is very efficient. First, you check-in with the host who asks if you want to dine in or takeout. For dine in they take your number and text you when the table is ready. Lots of shops around so waiting is not too bad. We came at the late dinner rush so we waited. We were quoted 20 minutes but got our table in 5. When you have a table then you place and pay for your order via tablet and proceed to your table. The place was bustling with lots of customers. Inside is small with space for 10 customers at tables and maybe 8 at the counter. I did notice a patio they set up outside which adds additional space. We ordered 3 ramens - 1 bold ramen and 2 old skool. I love the customizations allowed on the ramen. I got the bold and I got extra green onion and no garlic and 1 soft boiled egg. My wife and daughter got the old skool and had it with thick curly noodles and wood ear. Both ramens were really good with the broth being very flavourful. The pork was a little dry and on the old skool, the noodles were not quite QQ. I also ordered a Jones orange cream and chasu rice. When we sat at the table, a waitress right away gave us water but forgot my Jones. We had to flag another person later to get it. He chasu rice was really good. The place is bustling and it looks like they get lots of customers for dine in and to go. As a result, service is a little spotty. The staff are friendly and helpful but they are so busy that they just are so focused on their tasks that they forget about you until your order is ready. Also, I got my bold ramen first and I was halfway through before the old skool came. We still like this place and will be back.

Went as a group. Everyone's broth and noodles were different. The Hippie Ramen broth was rich and flavorful. Ordered with organic tofu, green onion like the hulk, and spinach. toppings of corn, garlic, and seaweed. On the table, I love how the garlic comes in cloves, and garlic presses to squeeze fresh garlic, seaweed, and sesame seeds. Ordering is easy with touch screen menus at the entrance. Food is brought out in a timely manner. Friendly service.

Finally had my arriving LAX passengers in the car at 1:00 Monday morning. Found this place - open until 2am weekdays, 3am(!) weekends. And there was a line, STILL! We each ordered 3 different ramen - i LOVE that you custom order on an ipad, and can add/remove ingredients with a click. We tried the Old Skool, Red Ramen, and Cheeky Ramen. All three were extremely different in flavor profiles, all rich in taste and satisfying. The noodles arrive quickly, and are cooked just right - chewy and not mushy. Very satisfying, and perfect after a long flight. Prices average about $14/bowl.

Ahhh, so that's what REAL ramen tastes like. And all this time, my mid-Atlantic palate really thought it was the inexpensive soup with little flavor packets. I would probably move to LA just for the Tatsu experience. Although it's not cheap, it's more filling and, I suspect, healthier than other dining modes I have functioned in. I really love the atmosphere and community dining, as well as the computer ordering process. The extra flavor options at the table (chili oil, garlic w/presses, seaweed) are fantastic.

We had Old Skool Ramen, just want a simple nice broth of ramen.....it was good and tasty....but a little oily, perhaps because of the pork-belly.... Food Quality: Very good...excellent taste.............4/5 Food Quantity: Adequate enough for our lunch.....4/5 Location: Easy to find......near many other eateries....4/5 Ambient: Small and crowded...especially in the weekend and at night...4/5 Staff: Very friendly and approachable.....5/5 Value: Very good........4/5 There's outdoor seating. You need to order from their high-tech ipad menu list....

Tatsu Ramen is located next to Pink's (the famous hot dog restaurant). It is very modern (you order and pay on a tablet as soon as you walk in) and sleek; I'm told it is much like restaurants in Tokyo. There is a sense of humor as there are anime style cartoons telling the story of the chef and restaurant, so it's a fun place as well. But the reason to go is the Ramen. If all you've ever had is supermarket Ramen this will educate you on the real thing. Regardless of which version you get, the Ramen here is deep, soulful and satisfying. There are also tableside boxes with fresh garlic. I recommended adding it to the Ramen for added dimension. Wait staff are very attentive (free refills on Coke/Diet Coke) so while it's modern it's not an impersonal experience. If you want to try something different, and memorable, try Tatsu Ramen.

As a visitor to LA, I only tried Tatsu once but was very pleased with the experience. Our family of 4 arrived on a Saturday at about 1:30 and was rather daunted by what looked like a chaotic scene. A server was kind of enough to stop for a moment amidst the bustle and explained that we had to order first on the wall-mounted iPads. He said that indoor seating would be a 20-30 minute wait, but he could seat us immediately at the outside tables (which we chose to do). We figured correctly that the heat lamps and ramen would warm us up. My husband and I are comfortable with self-serve kiosks and I am a fast reader, so placing our order via iPad wasn't a problem, but I could see how it might be a little anxiety-inducing for others who want to take their time and be thorough in looking through the options. It's neat that you can customize your bowl (choices of meat, more or less green onions, level of spiciness). If you are ordering for a large group with picky tastes, it could get complicated! We didn't want to hold other people up, so we kind of rushed through it, and decided after the fact that we wanted one extra egg. We wondered if we should go back inside and place another order for this one egg, but the server took the order from us, and we just paid at the table. We ordered the Red Ramen and the Old School Ramen. My husband chose the spiciest level for the Red Ramen but claimed it wasn't *that* spicy. I was content with the Old School Ramen and enjoyed the creamy tonkatsu broth. These two bowls, however, did not come with soft-boiled eggs (some of the other options do), so we ordered them for a $1 each. They were squishy and golden inside and altogether delightful (although my husband and my mom thought they were a tad bit too salty). We were very pleased with our servers, who were energetic, polite, and helpful. When we wanted to order our extra egg or needed an extra bowl for our kid, they were right on it and didn't seem at all put out even though they were clearly very busy. They also checked up on us periodically. It's definitely kid-friendly. We didn't need it this time, because we were lucky enough to snag street parking, but free valet parking is available for this restaurant--yet another reason to come here!

worth the wait (i think we waited for almost an hour)... we ordered the bold and soul ramen, plus the pork bun... you can easily distinguish the flavor of either ramen type... a must-try if youāre in LA.

Soup base for Ramen is delicious. Serving size is not huge. Ingredients are generous. However the line is a bit too long during dinner. We waited for 90 minutes. Go after 2 pm and before 5 pm to be able to enjoy the best ramen in LA.

It might not be incredibly authentic, but it is incredibly delicious. You order on iPads and then sit down. Service was quick for being very busy. The location was awesome, good to eat and then walk around. The waiter gave us a tip on waiting for our extra noodles otherwise they'd get cold. Cool that he took the time to let us know and essentially take care of us.

Great ramen in a strip of other restaurants very close to the LA airport. The egg was perfectly jammy which is a true requirement for good ramen in my book. Had the spicy ramen and was not disappointed. Iām not usually able to finish all the ramen and noodles but I cleaned my bowl and was so happy. Ramen could be the perfect comfort food. Canāt go wrong here

I like my food with lot's of seasoning and full of flavor and I have never had a ramen noodle soup like the ones at Tatsu Ramen.. I recommend the RED RAMEN. if you like ground beef and good rich flavor, this is is for you! Red Ramen Homemade Tonkotsu broth spiked with our sweet and savory red sauce. Served with ground beef. Customization: Amount of green onions, spice level. Customization: Amount of green onions, spice level, pork, chicken or tofu, soft-boiled egg

I loved the noodles and it had a wonderful taste. I got a ramen that was spicy and it added a great kick to the soup. Hundred percent would recommend to anyone who wants to try something new or trying to go out of their comfort zone. Also I would recommend it for anyone looking for new nice date night restaurant. ;)

Delicious ramen and rice dishes. Highly customizable via the iPad ordering stations. Almost always long lines, but worth it. Service is not always 100%, but that's because they're super busy. Powerful smells inside, so best to get a table outside (unless you prefer it smelly ;) Park at the Marshall's nearby to save on valet.

Do yourself a favour and drop in here before you drop your hire car back to the airport. Nothing better than getting onto a flight with a belly full of the best ramen you can buy!

Very good Ramen Moist and spiced to perfection. The place is clean and the staff is great. The wait is a bit annoying But worth it

Unique and tasty ramen! Efficient service with limited menu. Focus on the ramen and the dipping. Hearty portions. Never thought of pork broth as combination of sweet and tangy until coming here.

I love ramen so my cousin and I tried Tatsi for the first time. The line was not long but because the place is small we waited a while to order from one of the three iPads. There are several different choices plus you can add mix-ins. We also each got the pork bun which was sizeable for only $4 extra and it was delicious, and we also got fried rice! The food was good but the ramen broth was rather salty which left me thirsty the rest of the day. All in all I would still go back, especially for the pork bun!!!

If you have been to Japan, you know how tasty good ramen is...it's much more difficult than people think to prepare ramen, So, most of the time ramen in the US is not very good. I thought I woudl give this place a try on a recommendation from a friend. It's a hip place with lots of technology. (You order your food on an iPad and print out your receipt for the server.) If you visit on the weekend, be prepared to wait and you will mostly likely share your meal with a stranger at the same table, so if you dont like that type of set up, you can ask (and wait) for a table outside with more privacy. Overall, it was better than average. Friendly service, too.

My (adult) kids kept telling me about this great ramen restaurant in LA. My idea of ramen is nowhere NEAR great. My idea of ramen is the tiny package of hard noodles you add to boiling water! This restaurant was SO good. They make their own noodles (that, by the way are AMAZING); the broth was not too creamy, not too clear. And the chicken I added was so good. I DO need to brush up on my chopsticks technique before my next visit though (there are spoons too!). Don't miss this one!

Came around 6p on a Tuesday night before the dinner rush. Ordered by iPad which is cool and convenient. They seat you on a first come first serve basis. There are some customizable options but could use some more. For example, you can customize spicyness and amount of green onions but not type of noodle. Tip: if you want a different noodle like naked/wavy, after you order just tell the front host. My wife and I had the Bold and the kids had old school. Both broth were flavourful. You know a broth is good when your bowl is empty at the end. No broth or noodles left. Kids shared so we got extra noodles with their ramen which came in a separate bowl. Worth it. Noodles were great. Pork was tender albeit abit fatty. Parking is via valet which take tips which is common for this area. A fiver get there appreciation. Would definitely come back when I am in town.

Really good Ramen, but such a long line! After waiting in a really long line, you order your food off of iPads. The food is hot and good quality. Definitely recommend!

The place was awesome. Open 24 hours, you order on the iPad and select everything. It prints out a receipt and they sit you down. Their are several toppings available at the table including garlic. The ramen was really tasty. It was very crowded when we went and seating can be hard. Really enjoyed this place.

Went to Tatsu with my family and was blown away by their food. The ramen is authentic and delicious with a lively atmosphere. Ordering by kiosk made the process quick and easy and the service was excellent. Will definitely return on my next trip to LA.

Googled best ramen restaurant in LA and Tatsu came up. So glad we came here. Place is small and crowded...a good sign. We had about 20-30 minute wait in line. Were there around 1 pm on a Saturday, other times most likely would be better. You peruse the menu on 3 i-pads which are mounted on the wall. Place your order and pay with credit card. Very easy!! As you're waiting in line, you can watch the kitchen staff make the ramen noodles fresh...right in front of you. The waiting line goes around a small, glass encased room where the noodles are cut and folded. A waitress then takes your receipt/order and seats you at counters. The seating is at long elevated counters with stools to sit on. At your seating area you will find chopsticks, toasted sesame seeds in shakers, sesame oil and fresh garlic with garlic presses. The ramen bowls were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Honestly....the flavors were so incredible, my mouth is salivating just thinking about it. My husband and I both had the Old Skool bowls, he had pork, I had chicken. Both mouth watering, fantastic....loved every drip. My daughter had the Cheeky viwl. Also yummy. We had vegetable fried rice and sauteed spinach. Perfectly done, absolutely delicious!!! The bowls are large and contain alot of broth, noodles, soft boiled egg and any additions you order. Prices we thought, were reasonable. One of the best meals we had. Enjoyed VERY much. Highly recommend!!!

Tatsu has gone through many positive changes over the years. I've been going since they first opened and full disclosure, the owner and I are friends. I've tried all the major LA brands and it is hard to standout in the crowd. I am also picky because I used to live in Japan. American shops fit an American palette which is great for the local audience. Tsujita has been getting much deserved coverage, but its important not to make a direct comparison. Tatsu has its own crowd, own vibe, and own approach. Tatsu keeps the street food a street food. They started with an "authentic" recipe and brought chefs over from Japan. But when the shop got feedback from customers wanting more intense flavor, the chefs obliged and changed their recipes to fit the audience. To me, this shows a lot of heart. Their menu has grown and diversified to the point its hard to choose, everything is great! Can't go wrong with the "Old School" ramen and a bowl of chashu rice, my go to after a long day. Happy eating.

Bold interesting flavors at this ramen place in the Sawtelle area. Order and pay using one of the 3 iPads at the front entrance. Try the naked ramen- no soup, lots of garlic, a bit salty and so good!!

Ordered ramen electronically - mushroom, pork/tofu, green onion Seated almost immediately Picked a spot by window. Noodles arrived after 10 minutes. Tasted delicious!

The ability to have ramen, let alone gf house ramen noodles, is incredible. Its great for takeout but order online ahead.

After a night of clubbing in Santa Monica, my friends and I were starving... and thanks to Yelp, we found this place still open until 3 am. Yay, time for a ramen fix!! I was surprised to see this was located in my old stomping grounds while I was a student at UCLA--right in the strip mall where Hurry Curry still is. Whoa. I noted that the mall across the street had changed a bit since then, as the Japanese market has now become a karaoke place. But I digress. Tatsu Ramen was the only place lit in this entire area, and it was BUSTLING. We went up to the iPads on the wall to order and pay with our credit cards (now how cool is that?) I ordered the Bold Ramen, which they claimed was the most popular dish. Hey, can't go wrong when you follow the masses, right? Homemade Tonkotsu broth with 11 bold ingredients was so flavorful and served with seasoned soft-boiled egg. I chose chicken, but you can also select pork or tofu. You can also customize the amount of green onions and spice level, and they had funny saying next to the options, like if you were planning on kissing someone tonight, LOL. We snagged a table outside and noted that there was a container full of raw garlic bulbs and strips of seaweed to garnish your meal. Wow, my parents the garlic-lovers would love this place. I bypassed the white bulbs and went straight for the yummy seaweed strips. Mmm... This place definitely hit the spot after a night of hard drinking, but as one of my friends said, he wasn't sure if it was so delicious because the food was good or if it was because it was late and we were drunk and starving. No matter, I'm glad we came, because it was an EXPERIENCE. :)

Amazing, delicious, perfect ramen. There was quite a wait to be seated. The ipad ordering/receipt printing is modern and pretty damn genius. Once we were seated, the food came quickly. The service was excellent. I didn't have to add any extra soy sauce or chili oil or garlic - I ordered the soul ramen and it was perfect. Even my husband, who is hesistant with some type of food, loved it. Will recommend to all my friends and definitely make a visit back next time we are in L.A.

Many of the most acclaimed ramen spots in the city do not offer a vegetarian broth -- or, if they do, it's miso based. Tatsu has a great vegan option -- the Hippie Ramen -- and it's fantastic. Rich and spicy, and not a miso base. Easy to order off the iPad then find a seat, and you can customize your soup with choices like extra green onion, tofu, etc.

Defenetely the place to take a ramen newbie!!!! for the service and types of broths I give them all stars Very simple ordering process, but only street parking and or valet.

I ordered 1 bowl of ramen, and one of red ramen. It's the best ramen I've tasted, it was perfect, you can go there without any problem

We were in the mood for ramen and found this place on trip advisor and it was the best surprise ever! SO delicious!

Love the menu. Choices and pictures if you like. The BEST Ramen I have ever had. It is must to go !!!!

This was my first experience with Japanese Ramen. This place was excellent!!! Walk through the front door, order on an iPad and in minutes the friendly staff delivers delicious noodles to your tableside.

True authentic cuisines, such a pleasure. Had the best time taking with our waiter as well. A very well layer out menu, easy to read. Ramen was fantastic! Will for sure be back. Again service was wonderful!

I was in town visiting some friends and they took me here for dinner. Ordering was easy and simple, on an iPad. After ordering you wait to be seated. Ramen came out fairy quickly. So worth the price. Our waitress wasn't as great but I wouldn't base not going again on her service. Amazing Ramen!

I was so happy to see so many Japanese restaurants in one place! So fun! Loved both the bowls we got. They were fresh and hot and delicious. The pork in the noddles was a little fatty, but the pork in the pork bun was really good.

I have always wanted to try authentic Ramen so I am glad I found out about Tatsu Ramen in Japantown! The Ramen was wonderful! I ordered the Hippie with spinach, tofu and onions. It was delicious! I just would have liked my noodles a tad bit softer. My boyfriend ordered the Naked Ramen with a level 3 spice and he was able to eat alllll of it. He loved it! There was nothing left. The portions are large and I had plenty left overs. The customer service was ok, I loved sitting at the bar, but the parking was a beast! Be careful. I would go again. I

My friend took me here telling me it's his favourite ramen in LA. He was right. Love the iPad ordering system, it makes things easy and quick. The food was stunning no less, I definitely will come back.

The ramen there is very good, espeically in a windy and chilly night! Also, the iPad menu and PoS really make things easier to customers, and prevent people from waiting in a long line. Good expierence!

Great Ramen bar. It's usually quite crowded, but it's worth the wait. They got the Ramen eggs down to an exact science. The broth was good, but I think their noodles could be better. Overall, very good food.

I never write any reviews before. But this is exception. The restaurant is clean and modern, friendly staffs and the ramen is so good. The orders are taken by the tablet with picture besides (so u can imagine what yr food looks like). U also can choose the level of spicy, w/wo garlic or onion.. bla bla. And summarise for those lazy to read: GOOD RAMEN. MUST TRY

A little bit confused at first, but then quickly caught onto the iPads along the wall. You can place your own order (some free optional toppings included... CORN!) as well as the spiciness level. They have beer you can order on the iPad as well, and once you sit down, your server will check your ticket and bring you your food once it's been cooked. It's an awesome idea, and the ramen is amazing! It is not as greasy as many ramen shops, and you can even choose to get a small side donburi (rice bowl). It's a small location so you may have to wait for seating, but they are open late. It definitely is a better quality late night snack than a greasy, processed burger. :p

I was given a coupon to try all you can eat at this restaurant and was a bit hesitant at first because I haven't delved into the ramen world too much yet. Well, after dining here one time I can certainly tell you I LOVE RAMEN & I LOVE Tatsu! If you're in the area definitely check this spot out.

We enjoyed a superb and enjoyable Japanese meal here at Tatsu Ramen. Lightening fast service but very busy.

It's a busy ramen spot especially for dinner so we went for lunch. Had the old skool ramen. The broth is richly flavored from pork bones cooked for hours. The noodles are firm and chewy and includes roast pork, mushrooms and green onions. Takeout is available which may be a option for the dinner time rush.

I'll start from the beginning...the ordering process is very similar to ordering ramen in Japan. They have a few iPads outside the restaurant where you place your order and pre-pay (your order isn't made until you're seated if dining-in). The line was out the door when there were surrounding Japanese restaurants with no wait...that to me already screams must have! It took a little longer than I would have liked for us to be seated, and get our food, (it was a Friday night) but when you haven't been able to eat ramen in over a year because you developed a gluten intolerance, you're going to wait! Food was prepared fresh, right in front of you. DO prepare to be seated with strangers since they only have 1 community table and bar seating inside (which is going along with the Japanese tradition of things) and a few outdoor tables that are close together. I was only concerned with my food so it didn't matter who I was next to. Now on to the food. I ordered the "Bold Ramen" with Tonkotsu (pork) broth, seasoned egg, pork slices, and g-free noodles. Gluten-Free noodles are $6 dollars in addition to the price of the ramen, which is pricey for sure but again, worth it when you're restricted. *side note, I wish the kind folks over at Tatsu would give consideration to the fact that the original price includes noodles, so to have another $6 slapped on is kind of paying for double noodles imo. Granted it's LA (i live in Orlando) so let's move on* The broth had the perfect amount of flavor, the soft boiled egg was just right and the noodles were a perfect cut of what you consider "ramen" noodles to be. It was a bit chewy and I struggled just a little bit to bite it when slurping from the bowl but that could just be the brand of noodles they use or what the noodles are made from (didn't seem like rice noodles...tasted more starchy, but I could be wrong). I wish we could have a location where I live but I'll just look forward to my next visit to LA or NY.

This is wonderful ramen food, with side dishes available. The soups are around $13-15 and are well worth it. The flavors are wonderful, with table top options for additional sesame seeds, fresh garlic, and spicy oil and spicy powder. You order on the outside iPads, and then seating is available inside (limited) or outside on the sidewalk. Service is friendly, and they crank out a lot of food for eat in or carry out. Can't wait for my next visit. Vegan options and gluten free available.

We loved the Ramen and also the green tea was delicous. We sat ourside and the waitress was very nice.

After keep reading all the raving reviews about how great this ramen restaurant is, we had to check it out during our trip to LA and sadly we came with high expectations but left quite unhappy because my meal was very average. First the wagyu ramen burger then the bold ramen. I think the people who rave about the bold ramen so much, theyāve never had a bowl of good authentic ramen before. You cannot choose the hardness of the noodles and for me they made it too soft and the broth was really not exciting, quite bland. The only good soup was the one my girlfriend had, the red ramen. The red ramen was overall much better and tastier. Iām not saying anything was particularly bad just pretty average, except the red ramen which was quite nice. I definitely wouldnāt queue up again though for over an hour just to get a table.

Tatsu Ramen is a busy spot on a weekend evening for dinner. Every time I drive by though, its always busy! A good indication i need to try it, pronto! Finally, we got a night out to try the Tatsu on Melrose. We walked in and saw many iPads on the wall where we could place our order ourselves. A great idea and made for accurate dishes. Assuming the order goes to the kitchen for take out or dine in, we waited a few minutes and were seated quickly. The drinks came out within minutes and the exciting wait began. The ramen we ordered was the Hippie Ramen and the second bowl the more traditional Ramen with thinner noodles. There are many different types of Ramen at Tatsu including chicken and tofu options and vegetarian options as well. The prices are great and the food is very tasty making it a worthwhile place to visit again. The reasoning behind 4 and not 5 on this particular review is that our Ramen (ordered 2 bowls) did take around 40 minutes to come out, a little long for Ramen. However, we did let the store know and they responded politely and said they would look into why it took that long. I would definitely recommend Tatsu Ramen when in the mood for a good dish. It is hearty, filling, and tasty.

My companion had to quit 2/3s into her bowl because. I completed the broth (I'm a salt addict), but woke up a couple inches larger this morning. Like the concept, fresh noodles, great staff. Don't like one bathroom, acoustics, unable to order without pork on screen menu, and of course salt. Appreciate the staying close to Japanese ramen house, and dynamic atmosphere.

I really love it! Ramen its amazing ! Be pacient cuz a lot of people like it too! Veggie Ramen is remarkable

C and I loved this place! This is Ramen as it should always be made!! They have a bunch of different options to choose from to suit any palate or dietary restriction (i.e., no meat, vegan/vegetarian broth, beef, chicken, etc.). I opted for the "Hippie Ramen" which had thicker ramen noodles, chicken breast, veggies, and a delicious broth. It was awesome! The quality of the food was fantastic. A little pricey, considering it's Ramen, but it's LA. so I feel that it was a good value! I would definitely recommend hitting up Tatsu for dinner after a long day at LACMA!

Went to Sawtelle in Los Angeles to check out some japanese culinary and passes by tatsu ramen it was busy and i had no time to wait, menu looks good, friendly staff and they had ipad to place the order before we got sat.

Unique place. When you walk in, there are three or four ipads on the right. You look at the menu, select the ones you like, add anything else you like, click order and pay with a credit card on the ipad. Very convenient. Great idea probably save them a lot of labor. I ordered the red noodle soup. Very flavorful. The one thing I wish they have is a vegetarian soup option which they don't have. I was hoping that the soup I ordered might be loaded with meat but it was. Since I ordered it, I tasted it. The noodles are cooked just right. The soup was very good and spicy (I like it spicy) but it's very oily. The price is average. My bowl of soup is $10.99 which if you compare it with a bowl of pho, is on the higher end considering the ingredients they put in the soup is minimal. They are in Santa Monica so the rent is probably very expensive, hence the price. If you are not a vegetarian, this is a pretty good place to visit.

I visited with my husband after I was tattooed on a Sunday afternoon. The place is very different, you order your food from a tablet at the front of the restaurant. Most seating is bar style seating. The Ramen is to die for! We also ordered some friend rice and that was amazing as well. I am not vegetarian/vegan this place accomadates for those who are but also for those who aren't. I would definitely recommend and will be back when I'm in the LA area again.

The wait may be long, but it is very much well worth it. Place your own order using their stationary ipad, lots of choices to pick from. Make yours spicy or loaded w garlic, green onions, chicken breast, seasoned soft boiled egg, and more ! Tonkotsu broth made fresh everyday right in front of you for 12-14 hours. Pork chashu simmered to perfection. Seasoned soft-boiled egg, firm on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside. Marry that with noodles cooked perfectly al dente and you have a ramen bowl so good you have to come back for seconds!

After a night of failed clubbing, my friend and I decided to turn up at Tatsu Ramen instead and this place was packed even late at night. We had to wait at least 20-30 minutes but it was totally worth it. I had the Bold Ramen with a side order of sweet corn. Hands down best ramen Iāve ever had. I eat quite light so the broth was a bit salty for me, but absolutely delicious nonetheless. The portion was huge too! I was struggling to finish. Because we came in after an attempt to go clubbing, we were way dressed up compared to everyone else at the restaurant. The waiter pulled out our chairs and we actually had two waiters serving us and checking up on us the whole time. If you want that good service, come here in the tightest dress you own. Nah, just kidding. Their ramens are good though!

Staff was friendly but wait was extremely long and we were hoping for better dining experience based on the rating this place had. Food was good but nothing special and thus not worth the wait unfortunately... Price was ok.

I absolutely love the food here! There are plenty of options to choose from and they allow you to make the customizations to your liking. I recommend coming on a slow day to avoid the horrible parking lot and long wait times. They have a couple of tables set up outside but the store itself is pretty small. The ordering system is also pretty confusing and we were being told different things by different workers. One told us to order when we got a text that our table was ready while another said to wait until we were sat. I saw another party that was also unsure what to do so it would help if they put up some signs on busier nights.

Very delicious! when ever I'm in LA I have to come here, it is a bit small but it's a good chance to meet new people and the employees were helpful and awesome.

A hip spot that hits all the right buttons. Crowded ramen resto with a very modern concept. Orders are taken on an iPad with full customization of your order. Condiments are unique too. Make sure you use the garlic press provided to crush fresh cloves of garlic into your freshly made ramen for further flavour enhancement. Definitely worth a visit.

If you wan to eat very well cooked Ramen, this is the place. It has huge portions, you won't be able to finish it all.

An interesting visit to a very "in" ramen place with a do-it-yourself electronic self-ordering system. There are too many combinations to mention but basically you can customize your ramen for your own taste. Small and usually crowded, it's worth the trip to the Westside. Valet parking is available (and expensive) but if you don't mind the walk, you can park a few blocks away for free.

I am a ramen snob! The Bold Ramen from here is one of the best Ramen I have had along with their pork bun which is the best pork bun I have ever had as well! My fav ramen is a tie between here and "Daikokuya" ( see my review) and "Tsujita LA artisan noodle Anex" ( see my review) and a close second is "Shin Sem Gumi"... ( see my review). Another honorable mention is "killer noodle" (see my review) Tatsu Ramen has the best pork bun I have ever had, you must try it, you will be hooked! This Bold ramen and the pork bun are the perfect duo. Here's my fav in order and why with some tips! But to be honest 1-3 are a tie for their ramen. 1. Daikokuya- I get the regular ramen. It has medium noodle size. Also they have the best side of fried rice and my favorite side salad ( it comes as a meal) amazing Gyoza also 2. Tatsu- The bold Ramen is my favorite! Small to medium noodle and they have the BEST Pork Bun I have ever tried. Their side of fried rice is also good just not as good as Daikokuya or Shin Sem Gumi. 3. Tsujita Annex- The fattiest broth I have ever had in a ramen, but that's what makes it so amazing. Thickest noodle I've had in a ramen and great! I didn't really like any side dishes here, but no need the ramen is it's full experience on its own. They have my fav seasoning here called Onikasu I can't find it anywhere and I add it to the ramen by the spoonfuls! 4. Shin Sem Gumi- I get the original ramen. Think noodles like angel hair. They have a great side of miso paste that I add to the ramen. They have one of the best sides of fried rice just like Daikokuya and they have THE BEST fried chicken with Goma sauce and yuzu pepper sauce ( ask for both sauces) 5. 5. Killer noodle- Tokyo style with soup is my favorite! Then their Downtown with soup style ramen my second fav of theirs! Great and amazing ramen.

Great location, great place, great people, fantastic taste. The wait is a little too much but it's worth the wait, for sure. Highly recommended the Ramen, don't miss it!

This is some of the best ramen I have had outside of Japan. The broth is creamy, but very flavorful. The side of yuzukosho is also a great touch.

I was in Los Angeles for a week and I went to this restaurant twice! The soups are delicious and the pork bun are to die for! Plus, the prices are cheap and it's open late, so this is the perfect place for a late night meal

I love ramen noodles and the best I have had was in Hong Kong. Let me tell you that Tatsu ramen house has nothing to envy to those I always rave about in Hong Kong. It was so good that we went two days in a row on our short trip to Los Angeles. And besides their food the service is very good and the staff very helpful and friendly. Go there you wonāt be disappointed. Oh, it is SO good that you maybe have to wait to be serve. That place is very popular.

i love their dry ramen and i eat here almost everyday. their other ramen is also very delicious and ordering is fast and easy. nice staff and god food. what more can u ask?

Food will almost always come down to preference. In the world of ramen, this will be more than likely to be the case. Out of the popular ramen places in LA, I would put Tatsu ramen up near the top, beating out both daikokuya and shinsengumi (if you're curious, Santouka is probably my favorite with Tsujita's tsukemen being a close second). This review is for the location near Melrose & La Brea, though I have been to the one on Sawtelle multiple times as well. I would have to say that the 2 locations are pretty consistent. Bold Ramen I got the bold ramen with the default spicy (on the iPad, i think it was "a bit of a kick"), extra garlicky, and green onions "like the hulk". Because of that little spiciness to it, I would have to say that this bowl of ramen reminded me more the "Spicy Miso" type of ramen. The intense pork-y, tonkotsu-y flavor is not as prevalent in the Bold Ramen, Nevertheless, it is a very delicious bowl of ramen with fatty chashu, and close to perfectly cooked egg. The noodles were cooked okay too, with a strong yellow color (which may be the alkalinity), okay texture with a bit a chewiness to them. Soul Ramen The Soul Ramen is the reason why Tatsu is up near the top of my fav ramen shops in LA. It has the really rich, porky flavor of the tonkotsu broth that I really look for. With the addition of the black garlic oil, this bowl of ramen is just flat-out comforting and delicious. The noodles, chashu, and egg were the same as the Bold Ramen. Hands down, the Soul Ramen is in my top 3 or 4 favorite bowls or ramen of all time. Chashu Rice I ordered this on the side because I was especially hungry and what I usually like to do is when I'm close to finishing my ramen, and there is a bit of the broth left, I like to dump some of the fried rice and mix it into the broth with all the goodies on the bottom to make this delicious (almost congee-like) rice-soup hybrid thing. Just a warning, this probably isn't for everybody because the flavors can get very intense (almost too salty for some). However, my mistake was going with the chashu rice instead of the fried rice. I thought that the Chashu rice would be made with fried rice and cubed chashu on top, but it was just white rice. Another thing that I didn't really like about this one was that it was on the sweeter side, almost too sweet. You can definitely tell when you're taking bites of the chashu rice in between the ramen. My recommendation: just get the fried rice, and mix it into your bowl of ramen after your done with the noodles, but have some broth left over. What I really like about Tatsu is the ability to pretty much "customize" your bowl of ramen. On your table is chili oil, some strips of dried nori/seaweed, and WHOLE cloves of garlic along with a garlic press (this brings me joy because I absolutely love everything garlic). Make sure to garnish your ramen with those offerings! Most of my reviews won't say much about things other than the food. However, Tatsu has some things going for them which bumps up their review. If you're looking for tradition and authenticity, Tatsu probably does not rank at the top (although, they do have the "old-school" ramen, which I have not yet tried). You order via an iPad mounted to the wall which is pretty cool. They are a fantastic late-night option as they are opened until 3:00 AM. I arrived at around 11:30 PM and it was almost a packed house. Most of the crowd was in their 20's, either getting something to eat before a night of drinking or getting something to eat after a night of drinking. Especially if you're not looking into going to Little Tokyo or Japantown (aka Sawtelle / Little Osaka), Tatsu on Melrose & La Brea is hands-down, your best bet at getting a legit bowl of tonkotsu ramen.

My friend and I were getting coffee about 10 minutes away from Tatsu, so she said āhave you tried this Ramen place?ā I had not, so we went. We found on the street parking behind the plaza that Tatsu was in. We went at noon on a weekday and there were no parking spaces in the plaza itself. The meter we used took quarters and cards. You place your order outside of the restaurant, on iPads. I like this idea. It prioritizes guests who have made up their minds and paid. I canāt say whether it speeds up the process overall because the restaurant was not busy when we arrived. As soon as we paid, we were sat. Inside thereās bar-like seating facing the kitchen. You can watch them make your delicious meal while you wait. I got the bold ramen and a pork bun. It was so good. The pork bun was so filling, I didnāt finish the ramen. I brought it home to my husband! I would go to Tatsu again. Quick delicious food!

Loved being able to order via iPad, and to have views of the noodle-making room and the kitchen. My order was brought out quickly, the broth was flavorful, noodles perfectly al dente, and the entire dish rocked!

I love that you can customize your ramen here to have just what you like in and don't like out. I usually have trouble finding a ramen dish that has everything i want but here you can customize it. Service was friendly, Customers with whom you may have to share a table are friendly because everyone is happy with their meal. I loved this place. Will definitely return.

A Facebook friend of mines who is a "foodie" recommended this resturant to me. While I respect this persons opinion because he is a die heart foodie I think the best opinion is based on having a first hand experience. And my experience was wonderful. I recently changed some of my diet choices to psuedo vegan but definitely gluten free and my experience was AWESOME. Btw I added some pork that why I am not a real vegan. My dish was full of flavor and ingredients were balanced. My dinner partner also had a wonderful dish which was extremely flavorful. The staff was friendly, happy and helpful. The only downside we went on a Thursday at 10:30pm and the was a wait BUT well worth. I am on my way again today I would highly recommend.

Nice selection of ramen broth, clean and friendly ambience, and good umami and taste! Very authentic. Can't go wrong really, Tatsu is definitely up there as one of LA's best ramen joints.

I come here often given I live close by. Expect to wait at least 30 minutes on a Saturday. The wait is well worth it! I usually order the Soul or Bold soups with an extra egg (to save half for another meal). I would recommend trying the pork buns!! They are fantastic.

been going here for a while, food and service are always great (though the chicken can be overcooked/chewy at times) leaving a review now because some absolute chad of an employee convinced whoever was on music to play "Don't Mine at Night" but they didn't have the decency to play it out and switch at the bridge of the song, which was very unfortunate IMO. I go to the Sawtelle location semi regularly with my bf, and I wish they would find a better solution for the limited seating since they took away the patio area, especially since what was once a "go ahead and find a seat" has turned into a minimum 30 minute wait :))

Like everything great in LA, expect a line. Sometimes around the block, especially at dinner time on a Saturday, but it's worth the wait. If you are looking for a quick bite of ramen, microwave that .99c packet at home, but if you want delicious rich flavor, fully customizable, and a happy tummy then this is your place.

My friend took me here telling me this is the infamous ramen in LA. So I was super excited to try it out. It was already really late once we got there, but the place was packed. We lined up for 1 hour before we could finally place our order. We got seated and shortly after we got our food. It was a very generous portion and it was delicious! The broth was spot on and you can see that the ramen noodles are fresh and made in house. The people were friendly. I would love to come back when I visit LA again.

I really enjoyed the food at Tatsu. The prices are very reasonable and I would highly recommend! You'll love it.

I've eaten in at the restaurant a few times now and have loved it every time. Ordering on the iPads makes it very clear what the options are, and it's nice to see the pictures of all the ingredients. I can't seem to stray from the bold ramen because it's SO GOOD, especially with fresh garlic pressed into the broth to increase the richness. (This really surprised me - I had no idea that fresh garlic was so awesome in this context!) Even with all the flavor that it has, the broth is not too heavy or oily. My husband loves the soul ramen, which I think has a meatier, heartier flavor. I have also tried the red ramen, which is excellent as well. The pork chashu rice bowl is also top notch. The pork is very well seasoned and is very tender. I'm always torn about whether or not to order this because it's so delicious, but the ramen fills me up on its own, and the rice bowl is too small to be a meal. Maybe I should try it with a juicy pork bun next time :) My only reason for not coming here more often is the price - $10-12 for ramen is a touch more than I'd like to spend.

My son and I love this spot; we go often. We opt for the Naked Raman, which is vegan friendly noodled, with marinated soft-boiled egg, scallions, breadcrumbs and a sweet glaze. We add spicy tofu, and choose just the right amount of garlic. The flavors are lovely, the egg is sublime, and the service is relaxed. Order at a machine and wait. Grab a seat, unless there is a line, which there usually is. We also get an extra egg and side of rice. The Sawtelle location has parking. The Melrose spot is larger, but parking is tough. This is a great little noodle joint, as you are not forced to choose pork broth!

Went there with my husband who has lived in Japan and we were both impressed by both the ramen and the fried rice. Recommended!

Be prepared to wait a while for your food ,Once itās yours- itās just delicious. Savory , loaded with meat , noodles veggies. Really good. Sit in communal tables but people mainly keep to themselves on their phones

I have been wanting to visit Tatsu Ramen since I found them on Instagram almost a year ago. I wish I had gone sooner! Really fresh handcrafted ingredients that deliver outstanding flavors! There are standard bowls you can order but you can also customize to your taste. There will be a line and seating is limited so don't go if you're in a rush. The self order iPads are a little tricky but the staff is super helpful and on top of their customer service. You get quite a bit of food in a bowl so don't feel the need to order extra broth or noodles as one of the options. Authentically Japanese with Californian sensibilities.

This was my first experience with ramen as it is not that popular in India so I was very excited to try this place and boy was I happy I did! Firstly it has a vegan option which was great as my husband is a vegetarian, I visited this place 4-5 times over a period of 6 months and have tried the Bold Ramen, Cheeky Ramen and Naked Ramen- all are wonderful although I prefer Cheeky Ramen as it has a chicken broth......in the sides fried rice, corn and pork buns were all good............this is a must try place!

LA abound with Ramen joints but this place is real Mccoy minus the overly used fake port/lard soup base. Fun options via ipad for ordering so it saves the trouble of explaining to servers too.

This is my second visit. I will concentrate on just one of their menu: Naked ramen. One of the best dry ramen i have ever tasted. i would come back again just for this menu. I was impressed by the ordering system. Which is pre order via an app with a tablet provided. It was an efficient system. Highly recommended

Delicious ramen of the richest I have tried, its concept is different as you must order on a screen and then choose where to sit. The staff that brings you the service and the dishes very friendly. There is no sale of alcoholic beverages, I would have liked a beer. It has parking which is a plus and if not the area is not so busy and you can leave the car on the street. Also the ramen is super well served so it is a very consistent meal, the costs are not very high but also not economical as I had read. An account for 3 people with two tickets and a ramen for each was a total of 87 dlls, it seems to me that the cost is in the general average. A place to come back if you are visiting LA.

This place makes me so happy. Japanese noodles made in house, hip atmosphere, and great service. I frequent this place (I am lucky enough to live in the area) and I have never been disappointed, even with the delivery! I have tried almost every bowl and the sides are worth popping the top button on your pants. I always leave satisfied. I recommend this place to everyone local and visiting!

Nice ramen, nice broth. Worth the wait. The ingredients are fresh, staff is friendly. I advise maybe going on week days, Friday night might be really crowded ! Enjoy !

This place is a MUST add to your list. All of staff was very kind even though they were packed and people waiting in the line were rude to them. They got us seated quickly and our food came out fast. It was AMAZING! Place is super cute and the atmosphere along with staff is great.

The ordering process is done via iPads at the entrance. You can choose the exact ramen you want, the ingredients, spiciness, and any extras you want very easily. The noodles are made fresh in the store and the specific orders are made on the spot.

Strip mall ramen joint where you place your order on a virtual machine and seat yourself. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Credit cards accepted (no cash). Extremely limited parking is available in the lot, I would suggest finding street parking instead. One single occupant restroom is available in the back. They have vegan options available. Came here on a Wednesday evening with my friend around 7pm and there was a short line to order, that grew as the night went on. Itās a good spot to take someone who hasnāt had ramen before as you have a lot of options and can customize everything from the broth to the toppings. I liked my hippie ramen (a vegan option) but did find the birria to be a tad too oily. Service was friendly and came around frequently to refill our waters.

Great place. Efficient. Excellent menu with plenty of options. In the heart of a Japanese dining area with a lot of local and visiting clientele. Parking is not always easy, expect to walk a block or two if needed - or pay the valet. The restaurant is often crowded but the line moves efficiently and I have never had to wait more than 1/2 hour to be seated and enjoying my ramen. Highly recommended!

Great selection of ramen, meat and vegetarian. Pork based soup ramen are excellent. Chicken based very fatty and tastes of chicken fat more than great flavors. Ramen are perfect. Order from ipad, and they will text you when seat is available. Usually very crowded. Parking valet, street parking almost impossible. Each table has extras like dried corn and seaweed to add to broth.

Came to Tatsu Ramen while on a visit in LA after seeing the reviews on TripAdvisor. I've lived in Japan, and frequented the ramen houses. This place did not disappoint. I had the Old Skool ramen, and the broth was amazing! We went on a Sunday evening around 8pm, and had about a 30 min wait. Not too bad and well worth it. Being a newbie to the restaurant, my only complaint is that after placing your order on the IPad, I didn't know where we were suppose to wait. I saw people lined up against the wall with order tkts in their hand, so eventually figured it out. The staff is so busy and the place is small and crowed. A definite restaurant to come back to whenever I'm in LA.

Late night ramen place on Sawtelle - this place is THE place to go. I love the easy Ipads and ordering system. Although its packed, the line moves quickly. Corn is free and the tofu is so tasty !! Service is friendly and helpful too.

I like Tatsu Ramen a lot. They have multiple types of ramen and you can add to any if the standard selections. I had the spicy chicken which was very good. I also liked their seasoned egg. The ordering process is automated and efficient. The wait staff are pleasant. You can choose indoor or outdoor seating. The ramen portions are large and tasty.

Until yesterday's meal, I had never eaten at a ramen place. In this particular spot, you can order from a wall-mounted iPad which accepts your payment and prints a receipt. You are then invited to sit inside or outside or at the bar. (Seating is a bit limited. ) Our noodles arrived just a few minutes later steaming hot. In front of me were extra seaweed to use to garnish, plus fresh peeled cloves of garlic along with a garlic press if I needed more! There are many places that serve ramen in LA. I've only experienced Tatsu. The other nearby place had a long wait. Tatsu was fantastic and fresh so why wait??

I've been searching for a good ramen place since NY and I FINALLY found one. This place is a good combination of traditional food in a modern setting. You order your food by an iPad and pay then you get seated. I got the Soul Ramen, fried rice and pork buns. All which were SOOOOOO good! The tonkotsu broth of the ramen was simply amazing, apparently they simmer it for hours. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I definitely plan on visiting this place again. My only gripe was that I wish the place was a little bigger as it gets extremely busy. Wish there was also a closer location.

had delicious tonkatsu ramen! loved that they also have a vegan version. My only issue was having to order by ipad outside before you come in. It was fine for us but very confusing for our older parents, whom were with us. Otherwise, very delicious, quick and attentive servers.

We had to wait for about 1/2hr to 45min and that was starting at midnight. The place was small but very clean and modern. You order your food on an iPad and then finally grab a seat. 5 min. later your food is served. It was fantastic!! I love ramen noodles and these are the best and freshest I have ever had. Definitely, a little spot to hit! Enjoy!

First time at Tatsu Ramen on Sawtelle. You order and pay at the front door on an ipad. There is sitting outside, and a counter and a large communal table inside. We sat at the counter. In a small box in front of me were cloves of garlic and a garlic press! I put in four gloves into my 'Bold Ramen,' OMG it was great. I had the fried rice, also delicious, and a pork bun. Probably the best Ramen, I've ever had!

Good food and a cool system of ordering using ipads. As you enter the restaurant there are ipads set up that you use to enter your order and pay for it. Then you get a seat and the staff bring your food. You can park in the back of the restaurant for free for an hour.

Iāve tried other a Ramen places and this by far tops it all. The only drawback is the waiting time. So now I just order to go. Either way itās worth the wait.
Ramen Heaven
We enjoyed the experience and food. It's a hip and youthful spot and our teens enjoyed the iPad ordering feature. The restaurant is small, so it can become crowded fairly quickly and there was very little parking available from what we saw. But, don't let this stop you from dropping in. The broth was very good and all of the accoutrements were lovely & fresh, giving the finished meal a melody of balanced flavors. Yummy indeed!
