Great Food Great Service

By Michael S |

Excellent food and wonderful wait staff. Cole our waiter and K-la the assistant manager were friendly and helpful. Food was very good and served in a timely manner. Nice menu for adults and kids. Full bar. Casual and relatively quiet.

Wine & Appetizers

By Straightenup |

We stopped in for a quick glass of wine and calamari and were blown away by the efficient service and quality of wine and calamari! Our server Alexander, was outstanding and provided great input on the dishes available!! Also, the greeter was very accommodating. We will be back!

Good food, nice service

By Jim B |

We were a small group on a Friday evening. I had only an entree (Salmon Piccata) and a couple drinks, but everything was excellent. Everyone liked their food. Yes, a couple of us had to wait a little longer for our drinks or whatever, but you expect that on a Friday evening. The waitress, who had only started a week before, was working really hard and still was very friendly and helpful to all of us.

Good food, very nice ambiance

Was at the Domain for a conference and decided to try this place, since it is one of the few places where you can actually carry out a conversation. Good food, try the fried octopus, cooked to perfection and the Scampi with home made pasta. Very good food but definitely on the pricey side.

I'll try it again

Went on a Tuesday to take advantage of the 1/2 off bottles of wine night (It's all day Monday & Tuesday). You can't beat that. The food was just ok. I had the red snapper special. The flavor was there, but the fish was a tad rubbery. Like it had been thawed quickly. The spaghetti and clams could have been a tad better too. It needed more sauce. I prefer serving linguine w/ clams as sauce sticks to it. It's a place that I'll go back to especially on a Monday or Tuesday but there is much better Italian food near by. O

Always Outstanding food and service

Taverna at the Domain once again delivered. We had planned to dine elsewhere at the Domain, but arrived later than planned, and the waits were too long. We were able to snag a table at Taverna, and were reminded why it's one of our favorites. The burrata risotto was delicious. The Speghetti Carbonara hasn't changed in several years, nor should it, it's perfect. Wine selection represents multiple regions of Italy, and provides for perfect pairings. Frank was our server, and he was attentive, helpful, and extremely warm and friendly. Exactly what you expect from a Lombardi restaurant.

You would think your in Rome!

We have eaten here 4 weeks in a row and tried a different dish each time. We have been fortunate to travel to Italy a dozen times in the last 15 years and we truly found the food equal too if not better than all of the restaurants we dine in from Florence-Milan-Rome-and 3 on the Amalfi coast. I personally have never had as well prepared Carbonara in my 50 years of travel around this planet.

Underwhelming and feels like a chain

By Liz S |

"Nothing special" is right! Being in The Domain is like being in a fake downtown where there are no people running the cute bistros and businesses, just giant corporations trying to get you to spend money. I don't eat here often but when I do, I am reminded of how phoney everything feels. I had scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. It was ok, not great. My daughter's french toast was soggy (needed nicer bread) but flavorful. I tasted a hint of fish in the potatoes, like they shared the frying oil.....????? Not a deal breaker but not lovely either. The service was serviceable but a little slow. I would never go back.

Italian at the Domain

Good dinner experience here. Pizza, mussels and risotto were all good, but the risotto was rich with too much olive oil for our tastes. Upscale ambiance and attentive waitstaff.

Tasty Focaccia and Salads

By Gloria L |

We had seen the Taverna in downtown Austin but were in the Domain and decided to have a meal at the Taverna in the Domain. We were not disappointed. The salads were fresh, tasty, and I loved my Roasted Beet salad. The seasoning was just right and it was so nice to see and enjoy the spinach with the other yummy items in it. My husband and I enjoyed a salad and grilled chicken. The Focaccia was terrific, deliciously toasty and crisp with wonderful seasonings and cheese. The environment made me feel like we were enjoying a meal in Europe. The big glass windows were open and the weather was perfect. I look forward to returning.

Excellent Food

My daughter and I had dinner at Taverna on a Friday night. The wait was about 20 minutes for the two of us, and we arrived around 8:00 pm. The food was absolutely fantastic. There is a sister Taverna restaurant in my home town of Fort Worth, and the quality of the food as well as the presentation of the dishes was far superior in this Austin location.

Hair Everywhere

By Jon G |

Throughout our experience we had the following happen: 1) We waited for 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order. 2) Our drinks were messed up. 3) Our original waitress acted like we were invisible. 4) Two of the five of us found hair in our meals. 5) One in our party found the restroom in horrible condition. As the meal went on, the management gave us free beignets and another waiter helped us out. The food was actually quite good, but the whole experience took two hours and was a disaster.

Best Carbonara ever !!!

Chopped Salad and Tiramisu!

By Jonathangreenlee |

Taverna is notable for it's Risotto, but I came for the Chopped Salad, and Tiramisu for dessert! (One Warning! The Tiramisu has nuts in it! That's strange but I guess it's a family recipe) My friends had drinks and said the Cosmopolitan was great. This restaurant is in the popular Domain area so the prices are at the high end of "Mid-range". So I would recommend this place as a dressy date restaurant with safe Italian food. The service was good too. And Dogs are welcome in the outdoor dining area (important for Austin)!

delicious

This place is another Texas standout! The food was great, service friendly and the atmosphere was quiant

Caters for allergies

By John R |

A quaint environment in the newer part of the Domain. A good menu that allows most meals to be gluten free at a slight extra cost. We had a terrific lasagne and a gluten free calzone I would fully recommend this restaurant to all who love Italian food.

Decent Italian, a bit pricey

By Counterweight |

I recently had lunch here with my young kids. It was a bit cold to sit outside, but the patio space looked nice and (in better weather) inviting. The space inside wasn't very big, but it was well-spaced so we felt like we had private space even though there were other people all around us. I thought their Caesar salad was very simple, but delicious. I highly recommend it. The appetizer special was crab croquettes, which were well-prepared and wonderfully presented, but I still felt like they were missing just a little something to make them really great. I thought the pizza was pretty good, if again not outstanding. The staff was attentive, polite and helpful, one of the waitresses (not ours) came over to ask if I needed anything when she saw me squinting to read the daily specials board). I think Taverna has solid if not spectacular Italian food, in a nice setting. Prices are reasonable for the Domain.

Fantastic in many ways

By cdnusbaum |

My husband and I came here for dinner, and we were mostly impressed. We really enjoyed the warmth of the restaurant. From the covered patio with firelight, and the brick and wood decor, it was a very tastefully decorated space that was inviting and cheerful. All of the staff we encountered were polite and friendly, as well as accommodating. My husband ordered the Veal Parmesan. It was tender and well seasoned. Our Cesar salad was good, as was his pasta. I ordered a pizza with gluten free dough. The dough was good, the sauce was okay, cheese and pepperoni were also good, however... the peppers and onions were so wet, they had no flavor and honestly ruined the pizza. I have never encountered pizza with such wet toppings before anywhere. They made soggy spots in the slices and slid around. They weren't tender, they were WET. It was so odd, but since everything else was so good, we will be back. I look forward to trying other dishes, and in the future will order my pizza without the peppers and onions. I hated to say anything negative in this review, but it was so disappointing, I felt it should be mentioned. Please do give this lovely place a try! We are glad we did!

Delicious food, fantastic service

By Robin K |

We ate at Taverna during a recent visit to Austin. I was staying near the Domain, so this location was perfect. Our waiter was knowledgeable (he made great recommendations) and very pleasant. At our table we ordered the fried calamari, the burrata pizza, the lasagna and the sea bass. Everything was delicious and exactly as the waiter described it.

delightful dinner

By Hank956 |

Thank you Eric for the service. What a great place to eat in the Domain. Great menu, homemade pasta. Great specials on hand. Suggestions by Eric were on point. Started with the misto frito, different but good, shrimp, calamari, zuchinni, fried just right. Ordered the shrimp scampi and was it very flavorful, great amount of sauce, just squeeze of lemon and on point. Not your regular scampi, almost a picatta. Either way it was Awesome. The serving was not huge but with the misto just right. Ambiance was great. A must eat.

Best pasta my life

If you are looking for an Italian restaurant in Austin, TAVERNA is definitely the best place. Great FOOD, kind Staff and great draft artesanal beers

Brunch menu rocks

Brunch on Saturday was superb. Service was good and food was excellent. Nice way to spend a pregame Saturday!

Great Pepperocini

By fww2 |

The restaurant was visited by my better half and myself at Happy hour. We had the Pepperocini for our happy hour appetizer. It was so good, we had it a second time. The portion was large and it was much better than the main dishes (I had eggplant parmagiana and my wife had some pasta. The pasta was OK, and of what came with the eggplant, only the eggplant was excellent [it was very good indeed]). Nevertheless, everything was overshadowed by Pepperocini. My wife had the Prosecco, which she said was very good (especially with the Pepperocini). I, alas, am a teetotaler so I had water. The service was excellent, but the Pepperocini made the meal (in fact, it was so good, my wife and I will be returning for it).

Our out of town guests loved it

By Boopers |

We went to Happy Hour on a Friday night. They are one of the few restaurants that extends Happy Hour to 7 pm. We had large pizzas for happy hour price and the happy hour beers and wines. The waiter was very attentive and our meal was served very quickly. It was our guests' wedding anniversary and the waiter heard us mention it and brought them a free dessert. We all loved the place since we could talk easily (no loud music, conversation from other tables didn't spill over) and are going back this weekend. Our new favorite Happy Hour location.

Very nice Father's Day lunch

By Diane G |

We were in the Domain for a World Cup Viewing Party at another place and my husband wanted some seafood for his Father's Day lunch. We liked the menu at Teverna so we settled on it, and it was a hit. The Tagliatelle Scampi was delicious, as was my meal-sized chopped salad. Service was very efficient and friendly.

Acceptable. Not great, but not bad. Will do in a pinch

So yeah, the choices for great/authentica Italian cuisine in Austin is...limited. Trendy stuff yes, but the kind of classic italian cuisine you can get in the family-owned restaurants in Milan/Bologna/..., well, it isn't going to happen. (Mind you, it isn't going to happen pretty much anywhere in the US, w/ the exception of Barano in Williamsburg, NY, but, well, there you go) Anyhow, this is a fairly typical modern American-style Italian resto. The pastas range from ok to plebian (though we've had surprisingly good gnocchi once. Juts once mind you), and the foccaccia is acceptable only when it's warm. That said, the mortadella on the salumi platter is authentic (and rare!), and they have a decent wine selection. So yeah, you can do worse... Oh, Tuesday is "50% off a bottle of wine" day - take advantage of it!

Delicious - great patio

By Peter W |

We sat in the outdoor patio, which was covered (December). Nice setting, great food and service. Will definitely return.

surprisingly great pasta

By Roy H |

We were lucky to get a table after a short wait. Our party of 3 ordered different pasta dishes. All were cooked and presented magnificently, and the taste was sublime. The atmosphere was great, with lots of energy, and yet, the ambient noise was not overwhelming. I highly recommend this restaurant to pasta and pizza lovers.

Graduation weekend

By Brandy Q |

Unfortunately, Taverna does not take reservations. When I arrived after my college graduation, the hostess said the wait would be 1 hour to accommodate my group size. The manager Dan was able to seat me within 15 minutes after he noticed my distress. After one drink at the bar, we were seated in Eric’s section. He was extremely knowledgeable with the menu and overall had a great attitude! Thanks to Dan and Eric my graduation brunch couldn’t have gone any better! Thank you so much for making my special day even more amazing!! We will be back!

Nothing Special

By bohste |

We had dinner with a large group one evening at the Taverna in The Domain. It is a very eclectic place, much unlike Italian restaurants that I've eaten at. It was bright and airy. Their menu was that large, but we all found things that we wanted to try. I had the charred octopus appetizer that was very, very small at a large price. It was good ... just not that much of it. Others did not seem too thrilled with their drinks or dinner choices, so this trip was somewhat disappointing. The service was decent, but the prices were on the high side.
