Favorite restaurant in Seattle

By MrsFizz18 |

This was our favorite restaurant while visiting Seattle. Sadly we discovered it on our last day in town, or else we would have been back for a second time. We stopped in for lunch and shared the oyster sampler and a dungeness crab - so good. The oyster shooter was also surprisingly amazing.

Highly Recommended!

Taylor ShellFish Oyster Bar is excellent! Went with a colleague. The service was outstanding! IOur waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable - oyster origin / species / flavors ! Their menu is limited, but the experience was wonderful! I had the local oysters, they were plump and briny and finished it off with the Maqueca Brazilian ShellFish stew. Paid parking is right across the street ( if you’re a not a local, parking is difficult downtown). I’m a seafood nut, this place is the real deal. I don’t recommend the Crab Pot down on Pike Place Market!

Oysters

I came for dinner on a Sunday night. The staff was welcoming and friendly. I had 8 raw oysters including a fat bastard and an order of broiled oyster. The food was fresh. The restaurant was nice and clean. Will return on my next visit.

Nothing bugs me more

Walked in and asked about Happy Hour. Sat at bar. Employees talking to each other. Didn't have a clue who my server was. No communication. Very unclear who was doing what. I hate bad service. So got the vibe and left. Go to Agave. They act like happy to see the customer. Also excellent choice for happy hour. Oh and Taylor Shellfish automatically adds 20 percent. So glad I left. I would have been furious.

excellent

Dang did not get his name but the server we had was excellent he ran circls on the other staff. We ate there Nov 21. Got the impression he was family. Very proud of the business. Maybe he will remember we came from Alaska and talked about our friends that run an oyster business in Alaska. He was awesome! Food great.

Oysters to die for!

By Citydiva1 |

I would like to consider myself a oyster connoisseur. I love oysters and have tasted them from many different waters. Unfortunately, once you have the experience of tasting good quality oysters you can never go back to the cheap ones on the buffet. If you enjoy oysters with a more salty acidic base, this is the place. I have not tasted oysters this good and fresh. Their oysters are kept in a water bath and shucked fresh. They are beautiful and worth the cost.

Fresh fish, good portion sizes

There is more than oysters here. The clam chowder is delicious. The charred leeks was amazingly delicious. Muscles and the tuna were fantastic. We were satisfied.

Fabulously Fresh Oysters

By RJ+M4 |

Three times a charm. This small, clean and lively oyster bar was our choice three times in our five days in Seattle. Lunch, dinner, late night, no matter the time the oysters were so incredibly fresh and good. There are different kinds of oysters but the Virginica was definitely the hit, either accompanied by white wine as recommended by "Stump', or with scotch as preferred by Eli they were delicious. Serving queen Taylor was extremely helpful in her suggestions on the platter with three different kinds of oysters with shrimp, scallop sashimi and geoduck. A feast for sure. This is an 'Oyster Bar', bar none. We'll be back for sure.

Good but pricey.

By Deanna K |

There are several locations. We visit the one in the Capitol Hill area. They farm oysters and there is a live tank in the middle of the restaurant. Nothing already shucked on ice.so freshest of the fresh. The Caesar salad was one of the best I’ve ever had and a decent size. We went during happy hour which helped on the cost but it was still pricey. Automatic service fee of 18.9% on the ticket. Service was good but Seattle’s minimum wage laws are ridiculous!

A gem

By Vakatnr |

Low key, informal, exceptionally fresh, solid service, and very good value for money. The clam chowder is an absolute must.

Noisy but convenient

By Grgorio1 |

Good oysters but a limited menu, and a rather noiisy restaurant. NO table cloths, no curtains, or any noise absorbing ceiling coverage. Very convenient to seattle center.

Oysters and Crab near the Space needle. Teen daughter and I enjoyed crab dinner and oyster variety.

By JenMBoston |

Visited on a Tuesday evening. No wait and had the Crab dinner which included the Shucker's dozen which was a nice sampling of a variety of oysters. Good wine and bear selection, too. Wait staff was very nice, food was good and my teenage daughter and I enjoyed it. Service charge of 18.9% added automatically. Not cheap eats for sure, but was very enjoyable.

Great food crap service

By Pauly_Dents |

Seems a common theme food good service leaves a lot to be desired. We had walked some distance to eat here but before we committed we wanted to see if there was something for the ladies so on entering we went to look at the menu. We were greeted by young waitress with blue hair who appeared to be the greater and seater, who wrongly we ignored her greeting in our haste to view the counter menu, hating bad manners I realised what we had done and went to apologise and was snubbed. We were then made to wait at least ten minutes before someone acknowledged us. Even though the waitress with blue hair knew we were waiting and was informed numerous time we were there but chose to ignore us. Eventually we were seated by another person who looked like the manageress. The food and drinks ordered I watched as our things stayed on the counter as waitress with blue hair served other tables ignoring our food and drinks but eventually had to bring it to us. Pointed out to the other people what was happening and one said it was the Seattle Freeze or similar term. The food was excellent especially the smoked oyster dip, but atrocious service. I appreciate we appeared to be rude to start with and had she come back straight away I would as I tried to do apologise for ignoring her, but she went out of her way to be rude.

Don't Waste Your Money or Your TIme on this Place

By Sherri R |

While on a 3wk vacation: Seattle, Alaska 1 wk cruise and another wk on Pacific coast of WA state, we ate at Taylor's Shellfish and Oyster House at the beginning of our adventure. It was walking distance from the townhouse we were renting near Space Needle in Queen Anne Hill area. What an absolute disappointment! You walk in to see oysters in buckets being rinsed off and a tank full of live Dungeness crabs and your mouth starts watering. After being seated which took awhile despite there being several empty tables in this small place, we were seated by a window with a view of the space needle (and a whole bunch of homeless people). Coming from Florida, we eat a lot of yummy oysters and they are priced from 50 cents to $1 apiece at most places. So you can imagine our surprise at the outrageous oyster prices. We ordered drinks and found out that they had no red wine and were told the reason was because the owner didn't like red wine and thought it didn't go with his food. Only white, rose or sparkling wines. Really? Then we tried to order Dungeness crab and were told it was $57 for pieces and not a whole crab. And it was served cold, not hot! Again, because that was the way the owner liked it. When asked if they would cook one out of the tank and serve it hot, the answer was (you guessed it) no, we can't do that. So we ordered bowls of oyster stew that came in cup size proportions at $9 ea. And House salad that turned out to be a huge mound of very bitter arugula w no other lettuces and small almond pieces, tomatoes, cranberries and Parmesan shavings for $8.50. Our friends ordered mussels and salads, both Caesar and House. The waitress asked if we wanted bread w our meals and we said sure. Tried to order broiled oysters, but were told that they were out of broiled oysters, despite buckets of oysters on display. They weren't going to cook that up either. Oyster Stew (was tasty but never had oyster stew w cut up pieces of oysters before) and salads arrived but no mussels. Our friend was told they took longer and were cooking and would be there shortly. He tried to ask several times about the mussels when we could flag our server down and she kept saying they were cooking. As I said, this place is very small and you can hear the cooks and wait staff talking behind the bar. After awhile, we heard the cooks say "86 the mussels" and did see them being served to another table. After about 10 minutes later, the waitress came and told us this fabricated story of how the mussels were not up to Taylor's caliber and they were not available tonight. We all just looked at each other and didn't say anything about the obvious lie. Just tell us you ran out...that is ok and happens. You need to realize your patrons can hear you all talking. Then the bill came and the waitress did tell us about the almost 19% added gratuity when she gave us the bill (for very slow service). The surprise was for the extra $3 per couple for the bread and butter that was nonchalantly asked if we wanted to go w our soups and salads. Yikes! This place is very disappointing and expensive for what it is. By the way, we bought cooked Dungeness crab 2 days later near Pikes Market for $9.99/pound! Ate them at our rental place heated up w melted butter, which was also a no-no from the restaurant owner. So my traveling friends, don't waste your money on this place! Nor your time!

They know oysters!

By DaveC-AZCat |

We recently visted Seatlle for 3 days,a dn hit Taylor's multiple times. Cool and quaint ambiance, good bar, and great oyster selection! It's a walk from popluar attractions, and must if you're in lower Queen Anne.

Good deal, good food

By timothy L |

Oysters were fresh and light, my wifes mussels were outstanding. The chef was also very outgoing and kept us entertained. Great time!

Have the geoduck here!!

By StefJax |

We wanted some fresh seafood and to try geoduck and figured this would the the place. Everything we had here as excellent (including the beer and wine!). The oysters were yummy and the mussels were garlicy. But we cannot recommend the geoduck enough. They shave it and put this great sauce on it!

Oysters were top notch!

By MAP12 |

I came for the oysters, so was a bit disappointed when told they only had one kind that day. I had wanted to try a couple different kinds. Since there was only one kind I only ordered a half-dozen. They were so good I got another half. VERY busy place, but well run.

Perfect for Happy Hour

By ockerman |

We chose to visit for an early dinner during Happy Hour - no wait and great oysters and more at a great price. We shared 6 small dishes (raw, broiled, veggies, dip) with 2 beers for $68 with tip.

Great place, even better fresh food!!

By Wayne M |

Wow!! Was encouraged to check this place out from a couple I met on the flight over from the UK, and I thank them now. Having never tried oysters the staff were very accommodating and helped explaining. Went for the cooked muscles with bread and a few individual oysters. Fantastic!!

Disappointed with the service and food

By Natalia N |

I'm disappointed with the service and food. Ordered a crab - brought a salted crab. I did not get any food. The account brought almost $ 100

Stop in for your appetizer

By DougJ25 |

I stopped in here on a Monday night for some oysters prior to dinner. It's a great idea: have your appetizer before dinner! Great idea and I recommend the Kumamoto variety.

Good food and excellent service at a price

By Ed Dean Cruise Planner |

When something says MP (Market Price) you better be prepared with any restaurant not just Taylors. The server was very good The Food Dungeoness crab and Clam Chowder was excellent and some of the best chowder I have ever had. I was taken aback by that they added 18.5% gratuity if you dine in. I have seen that on parties as large as ours but never individually or just as a standard. I am adding pictures so be sure to check them out unfortunately you can not taste them. Good food but not Cheap Eats

Great service

By Kyla C |

Best service of trip. Immediate reaction to our Blue Jays stuff. Great advice on what to eat since we were new to oysters. Food was good but new to us.

Oysters you say? This is it!

By Gulliver07 |

We were a group of six and really craved some fresh oyster and other seafood. This place will not disappoint. The freshest high quality seafood anywhere to be found. The emphasis here is on shucked oysters and cold seafood (sashimi, prawn cocktails) but they also have some excellent clam pots. The vibe is right too. Lots of fun watching the guys behind the counter shuck the oysters and prepare other dishes. Definitely will be back.

Awesome Oysters and more!

By sea2la007 |

Fresh local oysters! Highly recommend Geoduck Sashmi (plain) and Poki bowl! The service was excellent. Even their grill cheese sandwich was awesome too! True gem for shellfish in downtown Seattle. Parking is very hard and it's only about 10-15 min walk from convention center area.

Excellent quality and service but overpriced due to trendy / touristy location

By John O |

The quality and service were great. We had a dozen of the best fresh oysters I have ever had, equal to anything I've had in the French Quarter in New Orleans. But, like the Quarter, this is a trendy and touristy Seattle neighborhood so it's expensive. The waiter was great, told me about each of the oyster varieties and chatted about Seattle. We walked to the Needle from here. My guess is natives know where to get equally good oysters and service at a better price.

Great oyster

By FooBoo |

My friends asked what I wanted to do or eat when I was visiting. I told them they could pick as long as I got some oysters this trip. Since we've all been to Elliot's a few times, they suggested Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar. It was a great choice because parking was easy to find and the place had a view of the Space Needle. Great for tourists or for a date. I saw some people having a business meeting there as well. When you walk in, there are several tanks that hold their live shellfish. Good to know what you order is alive and fresh. We ordered a bunch of shucked oysters to share and they were so good! Sweet and plump! We also ordered the Pesto Steamed Clams. It was also very good. Customer service wasn't outstanding but decent. The place was fairly busy so understandable. Great spot and I can see myself coming here again on a future trip to Seattle.

Excellent seafood and atmosphere

By NTB10 |

We visited here before seeing a show. The hostess was able to seat us much sooner than we thought; you could tell they truly made an attempt to seat everyone waiting in a timely manner. The waitress was very friendly and gave excellent recommendations. We only had a few minutes to eat, so we quickly had some chowder (which was excellent), but we would definitely like to return here for a longer dinner to try all the delicious-looking seafood entrees.

Lovely Fresh Seafood

By JohnDavid_1956 |

This is somewhere all Aussies visiting Seattle should try. Yes it's expensive but waste until you taste the fresh fat bastards, the Shigoku, Virginica, Kumamoto and Nahcotta oysters, the crab, the prawns and the local specialty, the geoduck (very, very ugly) clams unique to Seattle. Great cocktails and great service.

Late lunch

By A M |

Came here for a late lunch. The food was excellent and our server was top notch! Will definitely come back when we are in Seattle again.

Unpretentious, fresh, outstanding.

By Josef |

The venue is plain, simple and clean. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the food is as fresh as it gets. Eli told us about the (family) operation and (local) sourcing, and had good advice on wine. We split the crab dinner: whole crab cracked and ready to eat, a dozen oysters (3 ea. of 4 types), baguette and house salad. Plenty of food for us. Good, dry white wine and outstanding oysters. I wish we had time to go back before leaving town.

Nice oysters other dishes bit overpriced

By mvandervalk |

Great selection of oysters . Wine list very steep priced. Ordered Raw scallops . Only one scallop almost not prepared/seasoned and therefore a bit overpriced in my opinion. Nice but expensive Sancerre .

Won’t be back

By Tina L |

Came here for dinner on a Sunday night due to its high review on yelp and what a disappointment! The store is pretty small and isn’t busy at all but the servers were very unattentive. They told us to sit down anywhere and we had to grab the menu ourselves from the bar. Menu selection were very limited. Mostly all seafood: oyster, crab, sashimi, clam... etc. Guess it would have been a great place for happy hour. We ordered a dozen of oyster plus the dynamite clam. Oysters were fresh and sweet and the dynamite clam was great ! They also charge you 18.6% for the services for their employee benefit. Not sure if the reason why their service were so horrible. There were plenty of restaurants in Seattle that offer oyster so I would recommend going somewhere else. Our other choice was the Elliot’s oyster house which we had tried on our last Seattle visit. I would definitely recommend going there instead of coming here to Taylor’s. Over all the food was fresh and good but again for the same price you are way better off going somewhere else for the service and experience.

Cocktail Sauce

By armanistyle187 |

Stopped in the other day and really wanted some oysters. Ordered two dozen of various kinds. When they arrived at the table, one of the members of my group noticed that cocktail sauce was nowhere to be found. They asked for some, the bartender brought a tiny, almost thimble full, over for her. The bill arrives and there is a $1 charge for the cocktail sauce. We were floored. Spent over $100 on oysters alone and you charge us $1 for cocktail sauce? Really? It's not the dollar amount, it's the principal. What if more people had wanted cocktail sauce too? Is it $1 per order? Unreal. I've been going to Taylor for a long time, and have been okay with paying their higher markup for oysters because the quality is always so good. This experience however left a really bad taste in my mouth. With so many oyster options available in the city, I have to give serious consideration to spending any more of my money with Taylor.

Fun restaurant with great food

By NicholB07 |

We found this while walking downtown and tried it without any expectations. We had great food and drinks and a fun evening. We tried the broiled oysters, steamed mussels with arugula almond pesto and the smoked oyster dip. The steamed mussels were our favourite, but everything was great. We would definitely go back.

Its All About the Oysters

By Todd C |

I enjoy oysters when i can get good ones. If you like them, this is definitely the place for you. They offer all locally grown oysters in a sampler plate which is really fun. The different sizes and history of each was fun to learn from the very helpful bartend. They were so delicious i treated myself to two platters. And what is a great oyster without a dry martini? The full bar offers some unique local mixes and offerings. I cannot wait to get back to the city to visit the Taylor Oyster Bar.

Excellent seafood!

By 366Leigh |

This was a wonderful experience! My husband is a huge raw oyster fan, and he wasn't disappointed. He proclaimed them delicious. We shared the house salad, which was huge with a tasty dressing. I had the Dungeness crab with two dipping sauces that were much better than the usual melted butter.

Happy Hour Oysters!

By balledonna |

We were walking by and decided to pop in for happy hour given the dollar off oysters. We had 12 oysters in total and the shrimp cocktail. They oysters were exceptional - fresh and succulent! The shrimp cocktail was okay - loved the sauce! The wait staff was 50:50 - l felt like with one staff associate we were a bother with our stroller (he watched my husband and I carry the stroller up and down the stairs without offering to help) and then was annoyed when we asked to take another table that was more stroller friendly...he was snobbish and rude. So it angered me that our bill has 18.5% tip built into it...beware!!! I would have given 15% because of the other wait staff - like the guy that offered to help us with our stroller... Food - 5 stars Wait Staff - 3.5 stars

Great place to eat when around the Space Needle

By MtcSpoor |

When visiting the space needle we stoped for seafood in Taylor and enjoyed it a lot we had Oyster from the Pudget Sound, scallops and a Crab. We all enjoyed what we were serve, the place is nice and a good place for lunch.

If oysters are your thing .....

By Malcolm R |

Taken there by Seattle locals I can understand why they were keen we should visit Taylors. (As I now look into the restaurant don't be fooled by one review site that states - price for 2 - $30 to $30 but at least you get what you pay for.) It was a great opportunity to sample different varieties of oyster - especially when accidentally delivered one of the lesser ones when it wasn't ordered. It made the Virginicas and Shigoku more easily appreciated. (The smaller non-ordered Pacifics became complimentary). Would love to go back - again and again. I really went for the Virginicas. The Gravlax and poached spot prawns went down well. The grilled cheese and poached spot prawns went down well. For four of us the bill was about $130. Note that the "tip" is included at 18.9% calculated on the before tax total. Very pleasant interaction with the staff. Pleasing outlook near the Space Needle.

Super place for a light supper

By Nora W |

Enjoyed a pleasant pre-theatre meal here on a recent visit to Seattle. I felt quite comfortable on my own and was treated nicely by all the staff who served me or came by to check on my meal. The Arugula salad goes well with oysters and a crisp glass of wine. Great location: just a block away from the Seattle Repertory Theatre and next to the Seattle Center.

The best Happy Hour Place!!!

By Taylor Avenue Q |

All of the staff is awesome and the oysters are A M A Z I N G!!! and can you say delicious bloody mary's...WOW what is not to like about this place! Tiny little gem located on beautiful Queen Anne!! Love Love Love!

simple tasty and friendly staff

By Hedyyy |

I was craving for Oysters during my last day in Seattle and found this small restaurant nearby. There were 5 choices of Oysters at that day and the waitress was friendly and knowledgeable in introducing each of them. The price is also very acceptable compared with what I could normally get in Hong Kong. We also order a dish of clam which is very appetizing. The environment is very cozy as well.

Nonexistent service and hostility to cyclist

By Roberta W |

My visit to Taylor Shellfish on a Tuesday found two people working at the front desk, but no one behind the bar other than the oyster shucker. The signage indicated wait to be seated, so I asked one of the two at the host desk if I could enter and was told I could sit anywhere in the bar. I found a small table and again asked if it was OK to sit there, not wanting to run afoul of their rules. I waited for five minutes and was not acknowledged, given a menu, water, or anything. I walked to the bar and discovered no bartender either. At this time, one of the individuals working behind the front desk said I needed to move by bicycle from the sidewalk in front of their establishment, which was attached to their railing. I have parked here before. I do not recommend this place for cyclists.

Freshest oysters

By lileeewhoo |

Good news - Taylor has some of the best and freshest oysters you'll ever have. Bad news - we can't eat oysters at home on the east coast now because Taylor's were so good. We ordered a sampler dozen platter first to try out the 5 varieties available, and then ordered another half dozen of 2 of the varieties. They had briny oysters, meaty oysters, and even one that had a slightly sweet after-taste. So delicious! We also ordered an arugula salad - the dressing tossed in it was great. The guy shucking our oysters was nice and conversational and helpful. However, our actual server was pretty lackluster. We walked away paying $80+ for 18 oysters and a salad.

Reliably yummy oysters

By MEMDallas |

We had an early supper before the ballet. The oysters were as good as always! The Caesar salad made a nice side.

Family dinner after Seattle Center.

By LC73 |

We’re visiting friends in Seattle from Hong Kong. My husband had the oyster sampler plate, ceviche and geoduck sashimi. My kids had the grilled cheese, I had the caesar salad, my husband had a big bowl of mussels. Our server was friendly and great with recommendations. He mentioned he had been to their restaurant branch in Hong Kong with the owner just a few weeks ago. These guys know their seafood. It’s just so good & fresh ❤️

Super oysters, so-so service

By StevenAllen |

Stopped in here for lunch near Chihuly Museum on a Saturday in September. Not very busy but service a bit slow. We both had the oyster stew which was stellar. Also had some great raw oysters and pickled veggies. For some reason they could not/would not do the broiled oysters, which was a disappointment.

Hidden gem in Queen Anne district

By pammy88 |

Located so close to Seattle Center, in Queen Anne district. Fabulous food & staff were excellent. We shared Salish Sampler, lovely selection of oysters & other seafood. Well worth a visit

Fresh, Reasonable and Good

By William S |

Basic metal bar and cement floor, corner location. Charred peppers with a Mexican, salty cheese, great! Scallop Ceviche', could be a little larger but great taste. Brazilian spicy fish with shrimp, mussels and a creamy soup......Delightful. Very good restaurant.

Good stop before event

By Ronald S |

They were busy but got in. Lots of good choices. It was a rainy day before an event so I had geoduck chowder and baked oysters where usually I would have raw. Good taste. Wish they had more draft beer choices.

Happy Hour is a great deal!

By juliana74 |

If you love oysters, you MUST come here. If you don't fancy spending $33 on a dozen, come during Happy Hour (everyday from 4-6) and the oyster of the day goes for $21 a dozen. The oyster stew is a good accompaniment if you want something warm, and so are the mussels. It's a good spot to start the evening - oysters and cocktails and then head off somewhere else for a more substantial dinner.

Nice Find

By degraves2003 |

I visited this place after a long day of sightseeing. Ordered the geoduck and beecher's grilled cheese with a local beer. The geoduck was served sashimi and was very good. The grilled cheese was a bit rich and had to carry out but made a fantastic breakfast with some jam the next morning. Very nice bar but expect to wait if coming at popular times.

The place for oyster lovers !

By grace t |

Very fresh oysters , large variety to choose from ,nicely presented with various sauce accompaniments. Many other seafood for selection too. Friendly atmosphere . Compulsory 18.9% service charge .

OK

By Bigraider |

Nice place, can be loud. Ordered oyster plate, and pickled veggies, when delivered, forgot veggies, couldn't wait for them as we were going to catch a ferry. Oysters good, however one in our party got sick from eating oysters, had to go to urgent care. Ordered a glass of house chardonnay, and it was $17.00, so look at menu before ordering. $17.00 is wrong for house wine..

Best Mussels ever

By Adrian B |

Great place for lunch, friendly staff and amazing food. The Oysters and Mussels were incredible. The Mussels were the best I have ever had, just amazing.

Great for oysters and seafoods dishes

By Eataly01 |

Go for Happy Hour oysters and drinks. Their very fresh Washington oysters were delicious, and at very reasonable prices, paired with an excellent Rose. For the three of us, we shared four seafood "small plates". All were very delicious. Service was prompt and very friendly. We will return for our next visit to Seattle.

Good Service, Great Oysters, but Surprisingly overly-salty Clam Chowder

By Adrian L |

On this beautiful sunny day in Seattle, I ventured into Space Needle and just wondering around the neighborhood looking for a nice lunch place. I just happened to walk past this Taylor Shellfish Oyster bar, which was a bit on the quiet side at these off hours. Once I verify that it is the Taylor Shellfish Farm that I know, I decide to give it a try. I love Shuckers Dozen and the waitress explained each kind of oysters carefully. I also ordered a Mixed Green Salad and the Northwest Geoduck Clam Chowder. The salad was nice but they were a bit overly dressed with goat cheese. The Clam Chowder was sadly disappointing because it was really salty. I love geoduck clam but next time I will just order the geoduck sashimi, which looked great as I looked over a neighbor table. I like the oyster bar and will have no issues coming back again.

Excellent service, location, and product! Beware the 18%!

By bnasheller |

Wow! Excellent service! Excellent food! The oysters were amazing! We were there drinking and eating for a couple hours before a show at the Cornish. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star experience was the bill. I have no problem paying top price for top grade food. I am happy to pay an extra 18.9% so you can pay you're employees a living wage. Asking for gratuity on top of that is asinine. Pick which you want your employees to live on and stick with it. Overt greed kills any great dining experience.

The Best

By Richard S |

This family owned business have been farming oysters for over one hundred years in the local waters, and now have three restaurants open in Seattle where they offer the best fresh tasting oyster I've ever had, and I've tried them from New England to Southern California. You won't b disappointed if you love great oysters and mussels. Be sure to also check out their "Happy Hour" specials.

Excellent oysters, snotty waitress, beware of service charges

By Ian B |

Review lost stars due to having a snotty waitress and service charges on a receipt for a table of 3, if it was based on the quality of the oysters then the review would reflect 5 stars. My wife had the "fat bXXtard" oysters and she said they were excellent, I had the jamon Iberico, since I'm not a fan of oysters, and that too was delicious. Our other friend had the cheese sandwich, she is also not an oyster fan. By the way, not many options in this restaurant if your are not a seafood fan, that's not a complaint since this is an oyster restaurant, just an observation if your going here because someone in your group is a big oyster fan. So the food was great, the waitress snotty and the check surprised me with a 18.9% service charge.

About as good as it gets

By justvisiting_9 |

Ok, yes it’s a bit pricey but when you take the cost out of the picture this is a top quality seafood establishment. We stopped by around 4:30 and asked the shucker what was best that day, he recommended 2 certain types of oysters and the geo- / gooey-duck. The interior was on the small side, smart looking, neat and smelled clean which I think is important especially at a fish place. Off we went to walk up an appetite. Oysters had that totally fresh out of the water taste and texture, side tapas consisted of nice crusty bread, pickled veggies and olives. A bowl of Brazilian seafood stew and a perfectly prepared Dungeness crab. The star of the meal was geoduck sashimi though, tasted like concentrated scallop jerky but totally tender. Oh by the way, the servers here appear to actually enjoy their jobs, they obviously know their products and speak in depth about the foods origins, the farming and breeding techniques the farm uses and most importantly they add to the meal experience.

Great seafood and...

By BourdeauxBoy |

Friendly staff and service. Lacey was helpful in her recommendations and knew her wine list. The crab was tender and fresh. Wide variety of oysters

Outstanding seafood!

By Dan L |

Very fresh seafood always being served here. They have Dungeness Crabs, Clams, Mussells, and their oysters are the best! Service is also great. Highly recommended.

Best Crab Ever!

By AvaD22a |

Very cute restaurant in Pioneer Square. We ate during happy hour. Their vodka martini is good and only $8 during happy hour. Dungeness crab is $54 at that time too. 2lbs., enough for two people. Presented and cracked beautifully. They take the fat from the head and mix it with cream for dipping. Delicious! I had my first oyster there and it was a great experience. Dawn, our server was lovely and educated me on how to eat them. Great experience and the oysters were really fresh. I’d go back again when visiting Seattle.

Simple, crazy-fresh West Coast seafood!

By bulldogNYC |

Fresh fish delivered six days a week from their own seafood farm. Really, what more do you need to know? We came without a reservation, since they don't take for less than 7 people. But we showed up at 8:30 and were seated at the bar right away. A great choice, as our shucker was able to tell us the delicious details for the various delicacies. Shoguku, briny heaven. A wonderful array of oyster choices. Heavenly rich chowder, piquant but not too spicy. Salmon gravlax, with a cheesy spread, capers, and finely sliced onion. All this, a beer and a cocktail and a glass of rose, for $82. Service is included, a nice gesture. Super friendly, superb fish, and a gentle bill. A great last night in Seattle.

Excellent seafood - try the crab

By Mac_Harry |

I had lunch at the Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar and I had the best crab of my life. Huge portion with lots of tasty meat inside. Excellent service and great collection of wines.

Disappointing

By skippie_8 |

Food portions were small as were the drinks ($16 a piece). We had the smoked oyster dip which was very salty (and I like salt). I wanted to order the clams in broth but even though the menu did not say dish contained garlic the waitress confirmed it did. I’m mildly allergic and apparently there was no way to leave it out. I settled for the crab Mac and cheese… very small portion and again very very salty. My friend got the clams and broth which shockingly came with no bread. We ordered a baguette. I’ve never seen steamed clams in broth served without bread or crostini but I guess here’s another opportunity to charge you more by selling bread separately. Service charge was included no problem with that except the service wasn’t great. Had to ask twice to get table cleared of dishes and water was never replenished. Three out of five I guess I’m feeling generous today.

Nice flavors at fair prices

By KommissarKen |

This is a great place to share plates. My wife and I ordered mussels in arugula pesto, broiled oysters, seaweed salad, and blistered shishito peppers with cotija. All were excellent and flavorful. Add bread, a beer and a cider and our bill came to $75, a fair price in this foodie city.

Menu is extremely limited and food was less than good. Service was good.

By Nance T |

We ordered a dozen raw oysters which were great as I would expect from Taylor. We also had the dynamite clams and scallop ceviche. The dynamite clams tasted old and fishy and were extremely overcooked and rubbery. The ceviche was very average and came in a little glass (small portion) with a ton of regular old store bought corn chips (which is fine if you like to fill up on corn chips). We sat at the bar so saw one of the staff give a table a small sample of the smoked oyster dip served with Tim's Cascade potato chips so I ask for a sample. Glad I asked for a sample and did not order. The dip was smothered in mayonnaise and tasted of too much allspice. I expect when paying a premium for fresh seafood, to get accompaniments that reflect that. Homemade chips, potato, corn, taro or otherwise and fewer of them would be a great improvement. Don't try to pass off old seafood by cooking them and putting spicy mayo on top to cover the nasty taste. Oh and they charge $1 for cocktail sauce when paying $33 for a dozen oysters. Really? I mean REALLY?? I don't use cocktail sauce, just a bit of lemon but the upcharge seems overkill for what, I'm sure, would be premade, canned or bottled cocktail sauce. Plus the bartender whispered the word cocktail sauce as if it was a big NO, NO to use it on their fantastic oysters/shellfish. I hate attitude. They also have a 18.9% service charge added to the bill which begs the question why?? I almost always tip at least 20% but because they add it automatically and it is not based on the quality of service I refuse to add anymore even if the service is outstanding. Our bartender/order taker, was very good and timely in her service. The food was served by the kitchen staff at the open kitchen area behind the bar. They were friendly but did not know what they were serving and tried to pass off certain food items for things that they were not. We'll not return to Taylor Shellfish restaurants but rather order their oysters at other restaurants that serve them.

Above Average

By TxBamaEx |

Three adults and two under 2 were very nicely accommodated. The steamed fresh whole crab was outstanding but other dishes average. The service was below average and the almost 20% additional surtax for employee benefits prior to service tip was a surprise. Overall we were underwhelmed. With family now living in the immediate area, we will be regular Seattle visitors, so our search for nearby excellent dining will continue.

Great seafood

By Nicole L |

We had the oyster stew And a pot of mussels Both were great!! They have a great bread to go with it Just ordered wine But I know they serve beer and cocktails also If your looking for seafood this is the place

Evening dinner

By Rob S |

Oysters tasted fresh and we ordered the sampler for variety. We were glad we did. Smoked oyster dip was delicious. Geoduck was not very tasty, I would not order it unless you were very familar with it. prawns were ok. A bit over priced.

Excellent

By Bitty007 |

The oysters and crab special were delicious. The seafood was so fresh and we loved the sauce the chef made for the crab. The waitresses were all very friendly and nice. I would definitely recommend eating here.

Highly recommended oysters

By rogersantony |

We had brunch and were very satisfied! The food presentation was beautiful. I loved large windows and open design!

Best Oysters

By Merryl K |

We just happened upon this last week walking from our hotel. Turns out they supply much of the Oysters to the area and rightfully so. They were the best we have ever had and we eat oysters all the time. Great place and worth the visit. The tune Poke dish was also amazing!

Great build up, greater disappointment

By Ali V |

As a theatre goer, I’ve longed looked forward to dining here pre-show. Finally did and whoa, shockingly poor service. We were seated immediately, which seemed promising— 1) limited menu and branded seasoned grill cheese (not even a bechamel just gobs of one type of cheese). Asparagus great family styling serving, beyond bland seasoning. Caesar delicious and nice touch of anchovy! Oysters as expected amazing- but $33/dozen and they charge you $3 for bread (came :30 into the wait) and $1 for cocktail sauce- not sure who though that was a smart idea, but oh well. Won’t go back and we theatre weekly. 2) borderline neglected for over :30 in not full resto. Food came out late. But the staff is socializing amongst themselves, not checking in and drinking at the bar! When food came out, I inquired a portion of my order (shrimp dish) was missing. Waitress curtly replies “ food comes out when it’s ready.” well guess who never got their dish? Waitress was apologetic but then there was the 18.9% built in gratuity. The only reason that didn’t send me over the edge on a $66 lunch tab was out of respect to the shuckers- not an easy job and again, oysters only thing worth ordering a second time- oh, and the caesar. I’m actually shocked at that level of service is tolerated by whoever owns this restaurant. I could understand if it was crazy busy or if they had an elaborate menu with tons of options, but they do not. Charging for low-cost items like bread and cocktail sauce just seem to sour customers which I don’t think is the purpose of the restaurant.

Best sea food ever!!

By candice k |

i would definitely visit this restaurant next time visiting seattle!! highly recommended. Raw oyster is superb. You cannot stop having clam chowder. Service is v nice. It’s a perfect place for locals AND travelers.

Great experience for solo traveler

By nancyd3 |

I arrived a bit after lunchtime and sat at the bar for lunch. It was a perfect experience for a solo traveler since the bartender was available to engage in conversation about Taylor and the oysters. Each oyster was described lovingly and with plenty of information on how they were farmed and what the taste profile differences would be. I selected three (Virginica, Totten and Shigoyu) and they were each very different and excellent in their own way. I also had the oyster stew (a beautiful, complex broth with large pieces of oysters) and the fresh bread. The bartender paired my meal with a beautiful glass of Muscat. So far, the best meal I've had in Seattle, both in terms of experience and flavors.

Enjoy!

By Lisa B |

We were able to sit outside and dine on appetizers and drinks. Our members who had the oysters were very pleased. I had the grilled cheese sandwich, yes, it was divine!

CLAMS IN WHITE WINE BUTTER SAUCE😁!!

By stuartachilles |

Came here for a local Oyster experience and we found it here! Great location by the harbor and close to the downtown attractions. Oysters were great , and the CLAMS WERE AMAZING. (Ask for the white wine butter sauce). We didn’t know much about oysters or shellfish but the staff was very friendly and informative. They took the time to walk us through the menu even though they were very busy. Everything we tried was EXCELLENT and I highly recommend

Best for Happy Hour

By travelwa123 |

I don't think I would return if it's not happy hour. Food was good but very expensive. I would suggest they extend their menu if possible. Fairly limited options on the regular menu. Outdoor seating is great people watching! Excellent location for a bite before an event at Key Arena

Best in ocean food class in a residential neighborhood setting

By JMRC |

This restaurant delivers great seafood choices and a diverse fresh of the ocean oysters. This can be your full dinner as it was mine while drinking the local beers. Finish with a fresh Dungeness crab meat served on a martini glass, outstanding delicious bite by bite, did not want it to end!!

Seattle Getaway 2018

By SKOKRO |

Located right up the street from Starnucks Roastery-great small place for oysters. They actually own the oyster beds and have a nice selection of very fresh oysters. After doing the Roastery-great place to chill with some nice Sauvignon Blanc and some oysters.

Tapas-Style Seafood Dishes Close to the Seattle Repertory

By LMK101 |

The restaurant is small and very popular. We went in with no reservations, though we got in for an early dinner before the play across the street. There is a great selection of oysters. We tried the delicata squash salad which was phenomenal and quite filling for one. The Shishito peppers were big and deliciously cooked. The seafood soup and mussels dishes were really good. Try a variety of dishes to get a nice selection of seafood.

Oysters on half shell

By Ellen S |

We went here prior to hockey game. Oysters were wonderful! Gooey Duck chowder was fishy n not my favorite. We also shared their Cesar salad which was bland. We will go back but, only for the oysters.

Savory seafood, stellar service

By GoeieWitte |

We walked in without reservation after we spotted an empty table for eating outside. We were soon greeted and seated at our preferred table. Bare wooden table, no table linen. Happy hour only during work-week days. We paid full price for a selection of a dozen oysters. This is a variety plate with two of each kind. The oysters were juicy and tasted fresh. We added to watermelon salad and steamed clams. All food was served appetizing, at the right temperature and toasted good. Friendly waitstaff, knowledgeable and attentive. An enjoyable experience.

Overpriced

By Kurt R |

This was way overpriced, especially for an average meal. Two drinks, two entrees, two oysters, and the bill was $80. The menu said they had a beer list, which we asked for, but they didn't have. Then I ordered the Shelfish Stew, which I could have made better on my own at home. Overall, quite the disappointment.

Great Seafood

By MarineAir10 |

I’m a seafood fanatic and this place was a hit. Lots of good menu options. The staff was friendly and attentive. This place will definitely be on our list for future visits.

Finally got to sample geoduck!

By AldebaranFlorida |

We were walking back from the Seattle Space Needle Center to our hotel and passed the Taylor Shellfish Oyster Bar, so we stopped to check out their menu. We have been wanting to sample geoduck and it was on their menu. We decided to have an early dinner and were glad we did. We ordered Sesame Geoduck Sashimi, House Broil Oysters, Steamer Clams, Northwest Chowder (has both geoduck and clams), and a house salad. Everything was very good. The raw geoduck reminded of conch in a way, but more chewy. Tasty. The restaurant has a modern décor and is quite attractive. Our server was attentive and had a great sense of humor. The prices were reasonable, although they charge $3 for bread and butter which is unusual. Overall, a very good choice for dinner.

Knowledgeable waitstaff, great seafood

By Barbara T |

Although there are not a ton of options on the menu, everything we had was outstanding. We were lucky enough to catch happy hour, so enjoyed lots of oysters! The Caesar salad with crab was fabulous! Service was quick and the waitstaff could speak to the difference between the oyster varieties, which was very helpful when making our selection.

Fresh and tasty seafood

By Ron Runner |

Enjoyed every dish ordered. Seafood was fresh and tasty, service was friendly and helped out picking good dishes. Great culinary experience.

Very friendly

By Els J |

Good place dor lunch and frisheid oysters, ambiance a bit cold and sterile but very friendly staff and service.

Fresh oysters!

By sassyhippychick |

A small but mighty oyster bar! Right from the get go we felt welcome and got into the vibe. There are no stupid questions here, ask away and staff will share their knowledge. Shared the 12 oyster plate and smoked oyster dip - freaking great. It is a wide open bar, you have access to the oysters and crab,as well you can watch all the prep to get your oysters ready.

Fantastic spot

By westley_evan256 |

Fantastic spot to enjoy seafood provided by knowledgeable staffs. Fresh, directly from the farm oysters. Steamed clams are tasty, recommend to order a side bread so can enjoy the broth as well. Good selection of beer and rose/white wines that goes well with the seafood.

Oysteria haven!

By chalexico |

Oyster lovers rejoice! This is a place that has an outstanding selection of oysters. I recommend the Shuckers Dozen to start as you will get to taste a little of each, then for the second round choose your favorites! The Shikoku is my personal favorite. The service is quick and the atmosphere very welcoming. Located in the heart of Seattle near Key Arena and the Space Needle make it a great place to visit for lunch or to take new visitors to for a fresh taste of Seattle Living.

Great oysters and seafood soup

By Alfredo B |

A very refreshing dozen oysters on half shell. Very fresh and delicious. Plus you must try the seafood soup on tomato very delicious. The atmosphere of the place is very nice and service was great. A great place to eat

Great service, bad drinks

By Ktoctaquiza |

We stopped in for voicers and a drink. I ordered a double gin and tonic with extra lime. The 1st drink was terrible so the server corrected it right away.... I was shocked that a double gin and tonic wound up being $22 with a "living wage " included!!!!

Not worth for a mandatory 20% tip

By Alex |

We went there when we visited Seattle. The food was mediocre and overpriced. The worst thing is they added 20% tip for two of us, even though the service was bad!

Very little actual seafood served with a giant loaf of bread

By David C |

Very little actual seafood served with a giant loaf of bread to fill you up. Go elsewhere if you actually want to eat a dinner.

Fantastically fresh seafood!

By Karen R |

During a short visit to Seattle, wanted to find fresh, “slept in the sea last night” seafood and found Taylor’s on trip advisor. It was perfect- authentic non-fussy oyster bar atmosphere with a touch of class and authentic minimally adulterated seafood. Oysters were the freshest we’ve had anywhere. Classic steamer clams were delicious! Would highly recommend!

Waiting for the Shuckers Dozen

By Joyce P |

We deliberately ordered the Shuckers Dozen so it would come as an appetizer. Service was slow. Our waiter was multi-tasking. He was also the bar tender. We ordered three different salads: a Caesar with romaine, crouton crumble, parmesan-reggiano; Bay Shrimp Nicoise with bay shrimp, field greens, potatoes, lots of kalamata olives, soft boiled egg, asparagus, tomatoes and green goddess dressing; the Beet Salad had red and yellow beets, spring greens, goat cheese complimented the flavor of the salad also added pistachios, honey balsamic reduction. The only negative to this restaurant is the slowness of one wait staff for the afternoon crowd. Although it wasn't very crowded as it is before a game at one of the arenas. The food was tasty and the Shuckers Dozen Oysters were very good.

AWESOME!!

By loopycynic |

AWESOME! My husband and daughter admitted to pigging out on too many oysters! Had the fried shrimp po boy sandwich. Awesome! Husband had the fried oysters, also delicious. Shared the oysters as an appetizer. Got there about 3ish and at 4PM happy hour begins so we stayed to have half-prized oysters. Highly recommended.

Best seafood ever

By celine300 |

It is important to me to have fresh seafood . the restaurant has tanks which have crabs and other shellfish. What it is in the tank is in your plate. We went twice ! We had different type of oyster with crabs from different locations and species . The price are very reasonable. we had a bottle of wine with a dozen of oysters crabs salad for 50.00 per person .The oyster were meaty and the crabs was so big ! They also make their own bread. The second time we had clam chowder with bread and salad with beer. The place is small so might need reservation on week ends .They have about 10 tables outside .close to the arena and space needle

Fab

By Val |

Came here on my own as my friend recommended it who lives here. Great staff, fresh oysters, crab etc, I was on my own but I didn’t feel out of place. Will be back...

Good but a bit crowded before a ballgame.

By Kevin O |

Great for the happy hour oysters. Staff is energized and enjoyable while sitting at the bar. Like everywhere in Seattle, excellent selection of tap beer/

Outstanding oysters

By Patricia B |

Seafood is never inexpensive, but you get what you pay for at this smaller outpost of the Taylor Shellfish empire. Taylor is the designated provider for many fine Seattle restaurants, and it is possible to get a sampler of 12 (6 distinctive oyster varieties) for a decent price. The Caesar salad is big enough to share, and comes festooned with two tasty anchovy filets. We also shared the spicy roasted mussels and a local beer. If you are still hankering for a dessert, take a walk to Sugar Bakery just a few steps away.

Bad service

By Totonimus L |

We are tourist and we visited the place. The food was good, but the waiter service was terrible. The tip is included in the bill. If it did not offcourse I had not leave it.

Great Option Near Seattle Center!

By misopiso88 |

If you are looking for a spot to get food before or after the Seattle Center, this location of Taylor Shellfish is a great option! Food was delicious and service was friendly. Highly recommend, especially if you are craving oysters.

not a foodie experience at all

By Jeff V |

We had oyster shooters, Northwest Chowder, their "famous" Dynamite mussels and House Broiled Oysters. All four were good but far from great. I would not order any of them again. I would not eat here again, not because it isn't "good", but because when I want seafood I want great - either simply prepared or gourmet chef-inspired that tastes sublime and amazing at the same time. All four dishes lacked flavor. The mussels were bland, maybe it's just this subspecies from Puget Sound? If memory serves me, this is the first TripAdvisor-recommended restaurant where the TA ranking and my experience didn't agree. I had so grown to rely on being happy at any top 20 TA-ranked restaurants in any city, it was actually shocking how average it was. Service was hurried and she brought an item we didn't order. I have to admit she seemed overworked, constantly in a hurry and sweating. Ambiance was kind of cool, both in the good and bad sense. I went back and re-read some of the reviews and I just can't understand the hype.

Good food but overpriced

By WSUtraveler |

We frequently play tour guide for visiting friends so always looking for that special place to take them. This isn’t it. Food was OK; fresh and prepared nicely, but overpriced for the small proportions they serve. It also lacked atmosphere - stark furniture, mostly skinny high top tables and stools. Table don’t allow enough depth to adequately sit across from one another when eating. Seemed more like a cocktail bar setting guided as a restaurant.

Oh, the geoduck....

By RozB |

Hesitant to try this delectible delicacy, we added it to our bucket list of foods we needed to try. Served raw in thin slices with a light lemony sauce, it was delicious. Shortly before our trip to Seattle, we saw this oversized clam being introduced by Andrew Zimmern when he headed out with the Taylor family for a harvest of this odd looking bivalve..if your wallet can take it, it's a must try while visiting Seattle. Pronounced "gooey" duck I believe, this unique seafood was mild, delicate, and served with strings of dried ginger which added an unexpected pop of flavor. I enjoyed sipping a very cold glass of cranberry hard cider while we sampled a few other appetizers as well. Our waitstaff person receives a C, but the enthusiastic gal in charge of delivering our plates receives an A+.

Delicious Oysters

By Starryskies227 |

My husband and I love Oysters so we were excited to come here. The place itself is really cute and modern on the inside. They have a few drinks on the drink menu and various wine choices. We ordered the sampler platter of oysters. When the waitress set them down, she named them off. We listened but we quickly forgot. However, I know that she listed the ones called fat bastard in the middle (because that name is hilarious). When she came back, we wanted to order the first ones again so we asked her which ones they were and she flipped the shell over and said fat bastards which is NOT what she said the first time. The oysters were amazing! But our waitress lacked attention to details. We were left waiting for a long time to get our second round of drinks and it was not at all crowded. The ceviche was good but TINY! Overall, it was expensive but we felt we got quality oysters. we would come back for the food and hope for a better server. Try this place out!

Go somewhere else

By Scott P |

Food was fine, service eh. I understand why they add auto gratuity to all tables now that we had to deal with our server. We were seated and had to beg to be served. Had her slam plates down in front of us and tell us she is seating our spots even though half our group was still finishing their drinks. 4 of us not there even an hour with a 260 dollar check, and the moment we paid her attitude was “ screw you get out”. Lots of good places to eat around here, I’d avoid this one.

Fresh oysters. Everything was good.

By Peter J |

Services are average, but the oysters are very good and fresh. Nothing smelled bad. Crab was very well prepared and easy to eat.

Upscale but friendly staff.

By AngeliqueDixon |

Food was delicious. Clam chowder excellent. I had the mussels in a cream, bacon and leek broth which was decadent.

Too much hype

By callies |

Thought from reviews, we would enjoy this local place. The atmosphere is a bit strange, the service even worse. They add 18% to your bill so there is no incentive for them to serve you well, much less excel. Our server was inefficient at best and incapable at worst. Food was ok but would not return or recommend.

Incredible!

By Kira L |

We absolutely LOVED our dinner here! The service was great! Lacy, our server, was very down to earth, knowledgeable, and friendly. The food was delicious- we ordered the Salish Sampler (Shucker’s Dozen, Geoduck and Scallop Sashimi, and Prawn Cocktail), Shishito Peppers, and Dungeness Crab. Amazing! We were both thoroughly satisfied with our time here. 😀

Fresh oysters

By BuenosAiresFoodie |

We stopped in to Taylor Shellfish for lunch a couple weeks ago and had a nice meal. I had the clam chowder and my partner had steamed mussels with pesto sauce. Both were great and very tasty.

Fresh and Fabulous

By Romanophile |

Good fresh food provided by a sever (Jessica) that was exceptionally knowledgeable about the food and wine options. Raw oysters were excellent and the Margarita Oyster preparation was very good. Evening was topped off with sever-recommended Apricot liqueur. Once the stadium crowds thinned out it was a good place to talk. Will likely be back later this week with other friends. Plenty of options if you do not like oysters (or better option -- get converted there!! Exceptionally thoughtful wine list.

Go for the Oysters!

By VadoinItalia |

My friend and I shared the Shucker’s Dozen along with a soup, Macrina baguette and draft beer. A perfectly delicious light lunch.

Dinner

By JOVILLARREAL |

Visited the Queen Anne location which was walking distance from the Space Needle. Ordered a variety of oysters which were all delicious and fresh. The Dungeness Crab was amazing. Definitely the best dinner we had while visiting Seattle for the weekend, worth every penny. Try the jalapeño margarita if you can handle spicy and love margaritas!

The BEST Lunch EVER!

By gipsygman |

When it began with my own personal glass bottle of water, I knew it was going to be good. I started with a dozen assorted oysters and an oyster shooter, as they prepared my dungeness crab, right in front of me. Two by two, I sampled the locally sourced oysters as I drizzled them with mignonette, an herbed vinegar that accentuates the oyster's flavor rather than covering it up like cocktail sauce. The shooter is a combination of oyster, cocktail sauce and tequila, I almost ordered a second! Now onto the main course, the crab was the single best piece of seafood I have ever eaten and I grew up near the coast in New England. They removed the legs and pried out the body, then cut it in half. This was all assembled on the plate with the shell on the back. When the body is removed from the shell there is a yellowish substance inside, which is the fat. This is mixed with mayo and sweet chili sauce to make the most divine dipping sauce. The hard shells are cracked, so that you can get to the sweet meat without much work, but the small claw from the pinchers make a dandy tool for some of the tighter places. By the time I was done, no self respecting seagull could ever find anything left. It's not something that I could afford every week, but it was well worth the price and the staff was as great as the food.

Great Happy Hour

By irawine |

My wife and I recently went to Taylor for happy hour and had a great time. We got a dozen oysters for $21, which were very tasty and then had an opportunity to taste two other oysters on the house. We then ordered and split a bowl of their mussels, which were simply outstanding. These were huge and extremely flavorful. Service was great and we very much enjoyed our experience.

OK experience

By Domi |

Came here for lunch and ordered couple of oysters and seafood soup which were ok. I didnt like that the 18.5% tip was forced on me and then was asked for another tip again.

Best oyster stew ever.

By LYNNE O |

We were in Seattle for a trade show and had been working at the show all day, so we were looking for a light dinner near Seattle Center. We sort of stumbled into Taylor's and collapsed. We both had the oyster stew, which is usually kind of watery and insipid, but not this. Their Oyster Stew is nicely thickened, beautifully seasoned with herbs and somehow they manage to chop the oysters into bite size pieces, cook them and keep them tender. Served with bread, it is, no doubt a complete meal.

Stay Away

By Mimi N |

We were there for a birthday celebration. The waitress was as rude as they come. It took us a half hour to order with only three other people in the restaurant and 20minutes to get served. The fish was good but the service was terrible.

The best crab!

By Deborah W |

This is my second trip to this restaurant. The first time, I went with my husband and we had fresh oysters and the Dungeness crab. Everything was excellent, BUT I took my daughter last weekend because I LOVED the crab. They steam it and serve it with the crab fat. Sounds gross, but the Chinese serve crab with the fat and it's delicious. So much better than butter. My daughter and I had some raw oysters as well - Fat Bastard, Grand Cru, Virginica, and Sun Seekers. We liked Fat Bastard the best - meaty and briny. Grand Cru was a close second. The others were smaller and briny, so still really good. Also had the shishito peppers. Overall, excellent!

Amazing mussels and crab

By Carrie A |

Possibly the best mussels we have ever eaten, So fresh, tender and tasty we ordered a second bowl. Dungeness crab was a treat (they crack it for you).

Great oysters and mussels

By RandyRoss |

We had a yen for some good oysters on the half shell, so decided on this place. We ordered a dozen (mixed - 5 kinds) oysters on the half sell as well as a bowl of mussels and a small baguette. The oysters were delicious and the mussels were amongst the largest that we have seen. Very good!

Fresh Fish and more

By Ken V |

We took our son and family to Taylors at their recommendation. Totally enjoyed the fresh fish and oysters. And, they have a decent wine list (try the Sancere with the fish). Service is good although a touch too busy. We had to call for service a few times.

Juicy Oysters and Great Beer at Taylor Shellfish in Queen Anne

By jamesfG3934PA |

Taylor Shellfish in Queen Anne was one of our favorite places during our Seattle visit to celebrate my birthday. The oysters were large and meaty, but there were also a variety of oysters on the menu. We also loved the smoked oyster dip, steamed clams, and olives. The craft beer selection was nice, and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I strongly recommend visiting during Happy Hour, which is Monday through Friday, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm.

Best Place We Ate At In Seattle

By Jeff G |

My wife and I shared the Shellfish For Two platter, and a bottle of wine. The varied types of oysters were very fresh, and tasty. The geoduck clam was spectacular! We had never had it before, but now we're hooked. Our awesome server, Sarah, shared her vast knowledge about our oysters with us. The appetizer chips & smoked oyster dip was good too.

Fresh, fresh & fresh

By John |

We happened to notice an oyster bar listed on the mall map so headed that way. The place was fairly quiet on a Sunday afternoon. We grabbed a couple of seats at the bar and immediately ordered some draft beer and oysters. The bartender was friendly, informative and just the right amount of attention. Gave us extras like fresh horseradish and a sample of the Campari. A great place to have a drink or light snack and close to shopping and other sights.

Somewhat hard to review

By Vakatnr |

We were a party of 4, sat at the high top tables on reasonably uncomfortable stools. The initial service was slow, but I find that typical in Seattle. Why is it that PNW wait staff show up 6+ minutes after your seated and then almost without fail will say, "...I'll let you settle in and will be back shortly to take your drink order". Nobody dining out wants to "settle in" without a drink of some kind after being seated. In this case it took too long to actually get the drinks once ordered, but the whole experience improved dramatically from there. The food was fabulous; oysters fresh, steamed clams and broth exceptional, and Dungeness crab prepared perfectly - albeit a little small. The wait staff were very knowledgeable, and attentive once we were served the initial order. Btw, we shared items off the menu throughout the meal and it worked well. At the end of dinner, our reaction was twofold: the menu didn't do justice to the quality of the food at all, and the decor was a little industrial. I would go back for the oysters/clams when in the neighborhood, but would likely try a few other places in town before doing so.

Excellent!

By elsbethcat |

Great oysters, delicious asparagus, delightful leeks. The red seafood soup was good. Bread crunchy and sour. Lovely butter. Great olives. Really a wonderful find.

Great service

By patricia p |

Oyster were great, but what really made a difference was the waiter, he explain us how we should try the oysters and when he figure out we were from Mexico he bring limes instead of lemon and some hot sauce. Also introduce us to some local dishes as the geoduck.

Solid place for seafood

By ashmphi |

It's a nice location for a quick meal after visiting the Space Needle and the museums in the area. We tried the Shucker's Oysters and the prawn cocktail. While fresh, the oysters were not our favorite. The prawn cocktail was good, but only included four pieces and again, the cocktail sauce was not our favorite.

Best Clams and Oysters!

By bsc587 |

Tiny little delicious spot. The Dynamite Clams were so good we had to have a second order! Taylor's is a hop and a skip from the Chihuly and the Space Needle so a great spot for a glass of wine and lunch after sightseeing.

Amazing fresh oysters

By DoubleB6 |

Freshly farmed oysters located really close to the space needle, check this place out. Good prices small setting friendly staff.

Geoduck Pesce crudo

By Munyin C |

I tried the geoduck pesce crudo for the first time here. It was delicious. Also have the oyster sampler and a salad. Both are very fresh. A very light lunch on the pricey side.

Decent food but not great value for money

By Scythian41 |

We stopped here during our trip to Seattle for my wife's birthday dinner. A couple of hours later and with our pockets lighter by about $120, we felt that, although the food and service were okay, we could have had a similar or better experience elsewhere for less money. We had their oyster tasting selection, steamed clams, arugula salad (all that we shared) and a glass of wine each. The oysters were good, the salad was fine, but the clams were just okay as they didn't have much taste, seemed overcooked and the sauce was too acidic to my taste (probably too much lemon juice). Next day we went to the Crab Pot restaurant on the waterfront and had at least twice the amount of seafood for less price. So if you are a refined oyster connoisseur with some money to spend, this is your place, otherwise there are a few cheaper places in Seattle where you can enjoy high-quality seafood.

Casual Place for Good but Expensive Seafood

By msesqct |

Caution when ordering oysters at market price. We ordered two dozen oysters with geoduck and a Dungeness Crab with slaw. The food was exceptional but the table was tiny and the restaurant so full we were literally elbow to elbow. Our bill was over $265 with tip. Based on Northeast standards I'd rate this restaurant as expensive if you order at market price. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Amazing crab and oysters

By Trip-chick80 |

Had a fantastic lunch here with friends. Our server was really friendly and helpful with any questions about the menu. We ordered a couple dozen oysters to share and everyone was pleased with their food choices. The Dungeness Crab in particular was amazing and the Shrimp Po Boy Sandwich looked pretty good too. The shrimp cocktail was mediocre. Found the TV a bit off-putting and having to remember a code to get into the toilets could be interesting if drunk!

Wonderful oysters!

A group of us had great oysters, chowders and salads. A real treat for out-of-town visitors. My broiled oysters were particularly good.

Wonderful!

Wonderful oysters and people! We tried several different oysters based on recommendations from the staff and loved them! Fresh and yummy! Try the smoked oyster dip as well!

Stop by for Happy Hour

By ockerman |

Great happy hour and fabulous oysters. We had on the half shell, Rockefeller, Parmesan grilled and oyster dip. Add a couple of beers, veggies, and tip for $68. Less than a dozen folk here on a weekday happy hour

Excellent food and service

I went here at about 2:30 in the afternoon and thought it would be empty. I would say the restaurant was about 2/3rds full. The waitstaff and kitchen staff didn’t stop moving and I thought they were excellent. I had fresh oysters which were great. I would definitely come here again.

$$$$, Fresh, Good Service, Mandatory Tipping

By Alex T |

My wife likes to stop here when we go to the theater. The food is very fresh and tasty, however I think it's a bit overpriced. We've always had good service here. They do have a mandatory tip they add to your bill. Tip + tax on your tip = 21% FYI.

Great oyster-based lunch spot

Wandering around Pioneer Sq., found this delightful seafood place. Great fresh oysters (don't ask for cocktail sauce - hipster waiters will make a face and charge $1). Fried oysters also special.

Shellfish to Write Home About!

The oysters were wonderful. The mussels--the best I have ever eaten--tender and flavorful in a delicious, addictive broth. The seaweed salad balanced the shellfish perfectly--adding crunch and freshness.

Freshest oysters

Excellent choice of oysters in the Shuckers Dozen, including my favorite - kumamoto oysters, A good ceasar's salad with boquerones instead of anchovies. Tasty geoduck sashimi served with tobiko and wasabi cream. It hit the spot ( and saved us he trip to Chuckanut Drive). We will be back!

Winning seafood

An exceptional experience. Clean, open concept with large windows, medium size with an interesting layout. We managed to get in on a Monday night without reservations. And the place filled up quickly creating a great atmosphere. The food is simply outstanding. The oyster sampler dozen was fresh, meaty and tasty. I followed that with a memorable cioppino. Excellent dining in a casual atmosphere.

Area Seafood at it's Freshest

By costaricatravel09 |

Taylor Shellfish have been farming shellfish in the Puget Sound for over 100 years! This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend living in Seattle. We love oysters on the shell so we ordered the Shuckers Dozen which consisted of three different types of oyster, house-made cocktail sauce and fresh grated horseradish. This was accompanied by fresh bread and we each ordered one of the local beers - yummy! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant is very modern with lots of light and an outside eating area. Located in the Queen Anne district and by the Space Needle and Seattle Centre this is a perfect stop during your sightseeing or for an evening dinner date, however, I never would have known it was here if it hadn't been recommended to us.

Freshest Oysters, great variety

By wine4more |

I brought a friend from the east coast here, he was not too sure about raw oysters. Our Server was very knowledgeable about the different types of oysters and helped us choose the right ones for someone trying for the first time. They were exceptional and we actually ordered more. Wonderful wines to accompany. I can't wait to return.

Awesome seafood!

By Cindy |

Four friends tried a bit of everything: soups, mussels, clams, all delicious! The waiter was a hoot-so friendly and really made us feel welcome. the food is great, restaurant and restrooms are clean and well appointed. I'm getting a bowl full of mussels the next time!...When we're in Seattle, we'll definitely go back. It is a nice walk from the Space Needle or Chihuly Gardens. A park is nearby, so nice to shortcut through. Food for thought: If you've done the fishing/harvesting and shucked the oysters, you'll appreciate what it costs to bring this quality meal to the table consistently. These folks are very good at their craft and it's worth every penny!

Nice

We were visiting from Michigan and my son wanted to try some fresh seafood. We stopped in with my daughter and her boyfriend as they live in the area. They got oysters on the half shell, we also shared some delicious dip and the watermelon salad. Over all a very good experience but also very expensive.

Simple Yet Fresh Shellfish/ Oyster Bar Restaurant

By Steven C |

At the end of business trip in Seattle, our Asian counterparts of totally 10 persons had an exciting, memorable dinner to enoy plates of shellfish/ oyster along with bottles of wine, despite of its slow reaction to our request of table-setting made by receptionist at the entrance.

Best Oysters in Seattle

No frills. Wonderful selection of oysters. Also have geoduck. Super fresh .. Service is low key and friendly. Good beers on tap.

Definitely Must Go

We had never had oysters before & decided to try them. All the staff was wonderful. Oysters were great. Waitress walkers through what to order & how to eat. Highly recommend. Also the Shrimp Toll is a must have!

If Humiliation Is Your Game, This Is Your Place

By Vicki M |

When we arrived at the restaurant, there were many, many open tables, including several seats at the bar. There were two families with young children waiting for tables who were clearly not able to sit at the bar, so we stepped forward to ask the bar tender if the bar was open seating. Unfortunately, the host ran after us, hollering that the bar was not open seating and that we needed to get back in line. Needless to say, after the humiliation by the host, we left the restaurant. Never again!!!

Excellent shrimp cocktail and Entre-Deux-Mers

By Hannah H |

Stopped by for a small lunch after visiting the Space Needle complex. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, four pieces. It was astonishing to find a restaurant that carried Entre-Deux-Mers. Kudos. We will be back for Oysters.

Great Queen Anne neighborhood restaurant

We had a very relaxed evening with friends at this wonderful seafood restaurant. The food was great and servings were plentiful. Our server was delightful and even let us take home the shells from our massive oyster meal.

Amazing Kumamoto oysters. Pricey menu

By Amallison27 |

I love oysters and as anyone knows, they are expensive, but not very filling. I recommend Taylor's as an appetizer place or a first course as the food is very pricey. My husband got a chowder soup and though it was absolutely delicious, it was $12 for a small bowl of soup. I decided to just get a half dozen oysters and split them up. 2 Kumamotos, 2 Shimikos, and 2 Fat Bastards. Just get the Kumamotos. You won't be disappointed. They had a very refreshing flavor and were more tender than the other two. Shimiko and Fat Bastard were only OK in comparison. I was told the Kumamoto is a favorite here in any season.
