On second thought, maybe it's best I don't. If you are visiting Portland and you enjoy a solid, sincere, honest, thought provoking mixed drink then this is the place for you. They serve food, but i've only ever watched people consume it (my friend had a grilled cheese and tomato soup combo that looked divine) as whenever i come here it is for the cocktails. I highly recommend taking a seat at the bar, that way you can watch the magic unfold before your eyes in real time. And the reality is, it sometimes takes a bit more time to make a solid, sincere, honest and thought provoking cocktail. And after your second cocktail you might even notice the bar is actually shaped like a tear drop. Please don't just order your usual, take a gander at their cocktail list. It's chock full of throw-backs and historic libations, and even when it's not a nod to the past it's always inventive. Unless you're an officianado there very well may be numerous ingredients or descriptive terms of which you have never heard. But fear not, just ask your bartender and he'll be swank to bring you up to date. And if you're the studious type you can always check out their website and study the "glossary."

None of your crap here. Two agile able bodies behind the bar with old black and white movies on a curtain up high in the background. The drinks are reasonably priced and well made. Ample seating for solos and groups.

Great cocktail bar. Very engaging (when you want it) staff who will a see any of your questions. Cocktail list is extensive and well balanced. Love that they have a glossary of terms for some of the unique ingredients. If you know your cocktails talk to the bartender and order something not on the menu. Or even better, tell them what you like and be put into there hands. You won't be disappointed. Food menu is small share plates. Suggest sitting at the bar for the full experience. M

I have to say that the crowd here is a little too snooty for portland. The servers are not that nice or helpful when selecting a drink. Maybe I went on an off night for service, but the cocktail I did have before leaving was unique and tasty. I will give it another try next time I am in town.

Best friend & I were in PDX for some cooking classes and foodie fun, so we decided to stop here before having dinner at Andina. Bartender was very engaging and helpful in asking what sort of flavors & liquors we preferred and then he made suggestions for each of us. It was interesting to watch him concoct our drinks and he answered our questions (neither of us is well versed in all the new slants on cocktail ingredients). We came away with a whole new appreciation for the art - and while continuing our trip, we visited some local distillers and spirits shops to acquire the ingredients for some future fun when we return home to southern Oregon. We want to thank Teardrop Lounge for sharing their talent and passion for mixology - it added a lot to our evening and the overall trip.

I am a wine lover but a cocktail neophyte. I was afraid I would be completely out of my depth here, but the staff were lovely (and kind), and the "graph" that is part of the menu helped me to know where to start in my cocktail exploration. Just a delight! I will be back. Thank you, Teardrop!

Our only night in Portland and in search of a good cocktail, I Googled "best Portland cocktails" and found a site that had Teardrop at the top of the list. It did not disappoint. Our bartender Micah was excellent and crafted drinks to fit our specific tastes. Sorry Trip Advisor but I didn't get the names of the drinks ..... one was bourbon focused drink with benedictine and a lime peel, one a tequila based drink with red chili oil and the last was their classic Manhattan. You have to sit at the bar to see the artist at work. We didn't eat - I'm guessing the food is OK but Teardrop is clearly more about the cocktails than the food.

Top notch lounge with a wonderful atmosphere and unique fusion drinks in the heart of the Pearl District of downtown Portland. Great for a nightcap and connecting with friends.

Damn I wish I could remember the guys name but it is by far the best martini I have ever had. He made it exactly like I requested and then "with permission" added his own local flair. BAMN it was awesome. You've got to go to this place.

I've been going here since they opened. Hands down one of Portland's best. Their drinks are handcrafted, one of a kind. Food is all a great complement to the drinks. If you don't find something on the menu that strikes your fancy, you can tell the bartender what you like/don't like and they'll come up with a drink that matches what you've been looking for.

Loved the ambiance of this bar, the service and the cocktails. If you get there during happy hour, you can sample some really creative cocktails for a very reasonable price. Their menu is extensive and their cocktails are very fresh and creative.

So adorable its ridiculous. This place skipped over street-hip, went straight up to Cocktail Heaven! You wanna go there? This is the kind of lounge that makes you remember that you have an eternal pair of ice blue satin or dark blue-black velvet wings. The Teardrop bartenders seem to think you are worthy of the best mixed drinks on planet earth because that is what they give you consistently. I love the curves & the round booths in the nether regions & the wide curvy sitting booths in the front. Makes me want to be kissed ever so lightly! And the bar, rounded. If your day has been sort of jagged with sharp edges that cut into your tender underbelly, this place will smooth your ruffled feathers and you will be aaah-ooooh glad you came into the Teardrop for a landing. The lofty ceiling & glamour draperies have met the approval of the couture angel realm. The food is tasty. Everybody looks so happy here--because they are getting supreme service by some friendly dudes with great smiles who can make killer, knock-out cocktails. Pretty wonderful, huh? None of the Purgatorio and a taste of the Paradisio. The space and the guardian angels of the space make you feel special. There is a visible and invisible charm to this place.

What a fun place, simple but stylish interior design. Lot of drinks to choose from and a friendly staff to help you out. Music a little loud but once we were moved to a corner table / booth things were very different. All in all a great place with a fab vibe.

This place has OK drinks at Pearl District prices. Nothing special. The outdoor seating is just wire chairs and tables, but on a nice night there can be great people watching.

We were recommended to come to Teardrop by a local who had also recommended Oven and Shaker so we knew it was going to be good after Oven and Shaker. This is a small place that centers around their bar in the middle. We were lucky to find two seats at the bar on a busy Friday night, where the best show is. We met the bartender (wish I could remember his name!) and he took our order, hubby an old fashioned and me something like a Moscow Mule but different. He made me a fantastic drink and the Old Fashioned was amazing as well. He took his time and it was enjoyable to watch him make them. Their really is an art to making a cocktail, everything down to the huge ice block that they chip their ice for drinks from. We loved the ambiance here and would for sure come back again.

The Teardrop Lounge was one of the original bars that brought the often pretentious art of mixology to Portland. Thankfully, there isn't an ounce of pretense at The Teardrop. Mika, our bartender, was warm and knowledgeable about liquor. The patrons were friendly and engaging. The Teardrop Lounge is a great bar in a great city. Try some sophistication in Portland. Grab a drink at the Teardrop Lounge.

Teardrop Lounge is the perfect spot for any occasion. Date, girls night out, groups, or even to grab a drink solo. The bartenders are first class and the drinks are beautifully prepared. The art of the creating the perfect cocktail is alive & well here. They have a very limited food menu so for me, it's the perfect pre or post dinner destination.

This is what the Pearl is, an upscale bar making drinks to sit and relax with. They do have some food to go with the drinks, but I find Tear Drop a place to hang at before going to dinner someplace else or do a happy hour meetup. They have bar seating and tables around the bar, and when it isn't cold or raining, you can sit outside.

Wow.....cool cocktail lounge! My husband and I stopped for happy hour and enjoyed the drinks as much as the people watching. The drink menu was incredible. I wanted everything....it was difficult to pick just a few drinks! The bartenders spent so much time preparing each cocktail. Each drink we had was a treat. Savored and enjoyed.

Excellent and creative drinks served by bartenders that are normal people, they just love booze and want to help you enjoy it. Good little menu of snacks, but not really a dinner. Nice crowd during happy hour. Clean room though not clinically so.

This is a fun experience to treat yourself to a variety of choice before dinner. They make cocktails from the 1940's to present day concoctions. I liked a brandy manhatten, the Mr. New Yorker and the least alcoholic PTP. My husband enjoyed more traditional whiskey but was recommended good brands by our bartender. Ask for Micah. He makes delicious cocktails and is fun to watch.

You have some Unfinished Business there. Go see about it. Sit at the bar and watch the masters work.

If you like cocktail punches, Teardrop elevates them to a high art. I strongly recommend going with 3-4 friends and ordering one (or more!) to share.

A real integration of great cocktails, knowledgeable creators who offer a genuine welcome and excellent value. And a real mix of a real cross section of appreciative clients adds to the appeal

Full of PDX hipsters, but they let me in so it cant be that bad. Cocktail menu very extensive, but can be a bit fussy. The food menu was good for nosh and went well with the cocktail menu. I definitely would go again. Great for a date or a girls night out. Give it a go. You really can't go wrong.

The staff here is lovely -- and excited patrons enjoy the wide-ranging cocktail menu. A Portland gem.

Decent little place. Had a few nice cocktails here. Nothing too crazy going on here though. Would stop in again for a drink if I was in town passing by

This place offers some of the best cocktails ever. It caters to Pearl district crowds (well-off, trendy, young and successful white collar professionals) and it's not the cheapest place. The seating is very limited since the place is very small. It's a good place to stop by for a quick drink. That's about it.

Cannot say enough about the cocktails at Teardrop. Visited the lounge for drinks before dinner and almost went back for more drinks later. Sat at the bar and told the bartender that I was in the mood for a "savory gin drink" and husband said "I like bourbon." And then the fun began. Took us on a tour of delicious cocktails - changing it up a little each time. I also ventured into charted territory and ordered La Luna. Amazing. Ended the night on some kind of chili-tequila number that scared me at first, but was - by far - one of the most delicious things I've ever had in my life. Highly recommend.

Great!! Just great. Drinks are well crafted and food is to die for. Get the meat board and deviled eggs. So good. Great atmosphere, and maybe the most friendly bar staff we’ve ever met. Ruth rocks!! She was patient, answered all of our questions and had great recommendations. DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE. Wish we had found them earlier as we would come back again.

This is a small, rather elegant cocktail bar. They have a rather large cocktail menu of both house cocktails and classics (as well as wine and beer). The bar is horseshoe shaped, metal typed, and the whole place is sort of industrial-chic. I had a gin cocktail and my husband had their riff on a manhattan. Both were excellent. for our second cocktails we told them what our favorite cocktail flavor profiles were, and the bartender (who was the manager) helping us comes up with what he thought we would like. I prefer a sour/bitter profile, and my cocktail with gin and some sort of grapefruit liquer was perfect. My husband got a smoky drink which he liked - but not his favorite. I really like a place where you can just tell them the kind of thing you like and they make you something. We did not have any food, as we had reservations for a nice dinner later, but they have a nice menu of bar food - the meat plate and cheese board both looked very nice. The bartenders were knowledgeable, the atmosphere calm, and the drinks well made and balanced. What more can you ask for in a craft cocktail bar?

The cocktails here are fantastic. The bartenders really know their stuff and if you tell them some of the things you like, they'll brew you up an awesome custom cocktail. Our group ordered about 8 different food items from the menu. None of them were really that good and they were overpriced as well. The place is really small so it gets very crowded. In the end, stop here for a fantastic cocktail if you can get in and after eating somewhere else.

I believe our bartender's name was Aleandro. Great guy! This place knows how to make drinks! They mix up their drink menu from time to time. If they are making try the Other Side of Summer....you will not regret it. The prices are affordable. & this is a place to go for a small group intimate setting.

Serious cocktail lovers should make a visit here. They have tons of cocktail specialty drinks and a ton of house made bitters. They make their mixers in house daily. Their bartenders are very, very knowledgeable, very helpful, and super friendly. The bartenders are very happy to suggest cocktails based on your palate and the standard cocktails you like to drink. I included a few pictures. One of the bar. One of their house made bitters and tinctures. One of the Cobra Kai cocktail they serve; it has a little kick and might end up sweeping your leg.

We were hopping around cocktail bars and this was one of three we went to. We only had drinks. Great speciality cocktails but not cheap at $15 USD a drink. Good ambiance and amazing staff. Would go again.

Trendy space with great selection of cocktails. Bartender was spot-on with recommendations, as well as in mixing the perfect drink. Food is eclectic and worked well with the drinks. Highly recommended!!

After dinner my wife and I stoped here for some cocktails. I visited the weekend before with the guys but only had one hand crafted cocktail due to a busy Saturday night. During the week it was much more relaxed and had the full attention of the mixologist. We went through several drinks each getting better and better. Definitely a spot worth checking out 👍

Fun cocktail lounge in the Pearl district. Cool atmosphere, amazing (but very large) cocktails make for a fun evening out. The food is also delicious, we had amazing appetizers while enjoying out generous cocktails. The mushroom Napoleon was out of this world.

We visited the Teardrop Lounge several times for drinks while staying in Portland. Great atmosphere in the early evening - lively without being deafening. The bartenders are excellent and creative - if you want something that's not on the menu, they have no problem improvising. My tiny critique: I love using coupes when I drink champagne, but not so much for champagne cocktails, and that seems to be the standard at Teardrop. I prefer champagne cocktails in flutes.

They do have a small bar menu, which I'm sure is good - but let's face it - you come here for the cocktails. The bartenders and staff have made some amazing concoctions and are willing to help you pick one. Worth the price. Will go back again soon. Great ice cubes, too.

It was our first time there. After asking our likes as to our tastes, our waiter/bartender suggested a Bardstown Buck. My friend and I each had two, as one left you wanting more. Same with the Deviled Eggs, which are extraordinary. Would recommend the Crispy Cauliflower as well. Skip the Nachos. It initially looks impressive, then upon eating it, it's like finding a needle in the haystack looking for the toppings. Will definitely go back next time I'm in town.

I have been to a few bars in Portland and this is my favorite one so far. The staff is absolutely friendly and they make you feel like you are friends. The cocktails are delicious. There are tables and seats on the edge of the venue and the teardrop bar is in the center. I'd definitely come back here again.

I was in there for the first time back on May 12, 2013. My husband and I came in to have a shot of fireball. We were greeted by a rather snooty bartender that informed us that you are a martini bar. When we asked for some assistance in ordering something similar he told us he could make up something that would be the same thing. It was absolutely AWFUL!!! I couldn’t even drink it. We waited for must have been close to 15 minutes to get our check, paid, and chose not to leave a tip considering we didn’t drink them nor was even asked if we cared for them. Come to find out several months later when I am matching receipts to my credit card statements, that horrible bartender gave himself a $10 tip!!!! I had clearly, as I always do, filled out the tip line and wrote the total which was in this case a $0 tip with a $14 total so there would have been no mistake I meant there to be no tip! What came out of my account was $24. I contacted my credit card company. I am appalled at the behavior of this bartender all the way around! Would NEVER go there again.

Enjoyed our cocktails...traditional and trendy! Service was good. Atmosphere very trendy, urban. Stop and try a French 75. Music was a bit too loud.

Stopped in on a Wednesday night with the corporate expense account in tow. Had 5 out of towners looking to relax and unwind after long flights from around the country. The Teardrop required proof of vaccination (all had negative Covid tests on their persons), and being from out of the area (East) our business friends were not able to stay so we all left. Ran up a bar bill of $410 down the street at Life Of Rileys. Oh well...

Fancy schmancy drinks without the fancy schmancy attitude from the staff. The space is cozy and the bar is just gorgeous. We were too full when we came in to sample anything else but their bread, so I cannot comment on that. The cocktails, however, are things of beauty. While I can taste and appreciate the balance of all the ingredients, I could not have more than a few sips. They are strong, which I am sure most people would appreciate. But as I am a lightweight, this was kind of a downer for me. If I had a stronger tolerance for alcohol, I know Teardrop is one of the places I would love to have near me.

Teardrop lounge is a fantastic place to get the most premium drinks, they are very friendly people and the most skilled bar tenders around. You do not have to order what is on the menu you can just tell them what kind of drinks you like and they will make you a nice custom drink and if you like them they will even keep a index card on file with your name on it so you can build up your own menu with them.

Just love this lounge. Nice, small with great bartenders. Had a great dry vodka martini (it's actually pretty difficult) but also decent choice of vodkas and other drinks. Will be back

Went here with a friend on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar and had drinks and appetizers. The drinks were amazing. Nothing on the menu appealed to me so I told the bartender what I liked and didn't like. He made me 2 different drinks and they both were wonderful. The bartenders are creative and service oriented. Food was good too. We had the hoagie and lettuce wraps. LOVED the lettuce wraps. Wonderful find and will definitely be going back!!

This place makes the most interesting and delicious cocktails I've had in a long, long time. The bartenders were friendly, helpful, and not at all the pretentious sort one might expect in a trendy (and yes, a bit pricey) cocktail joint. My one piece of advice: Don't be afraid of the many ingredients you know know on the drink menu. Just order something that captures your fancy. If in doubt, tell the barkeep what sort of drink you usually like, and he/she will give you several recommendations that won't miss. Be adventurous! We didn't try any food items, so I can't comment on the quality of that aspect. But I'll certainly be back for more drinks, and may try the food then.

I went with a large group of friends. They were able to get us a table for 11 very quickly, despite being packed. The atmosphere is intimate and fun. The servers were attentive and professional. However, if you’re a gin drinker like myself you won’t be pleased. My specialty cocktail Moonshake (gin based) wasn’t great. Our server said their well gin is a mix of Beefeater and Tangueray. To “make a better cocktail gin.” Why they would mix gins is beyond me. Especially since Beefeater is foul. Aside from that they had ONE other gin option that wasn’t any better as a simple gin and tonic.

I had an incredible experience. I made a reservation to sit at the bar and was placed in the lower bar in the second section. I wish I had asked for the bartender’s name; she was amazing. I was there at 19:00 on 11.10.23. She was prodigious and attentive. The drinks were amazing. I would not order the food next time, but the drinks were awesome.

Great cocktails and nice seating area around bar. A good beer menu as well and cool movies being shown on big screen. Bartenders are cocktail "artisans". Cool vibe. Worth a visit while in downtown Portland.

Seating is limited, music a bit loud for conversations but the drink was delicious. A balance of bitters and sweet.

This trendy bar in the Pearl district has amazing mixologists who out unlikely ingredients together then shake or stir them to perfection. Drop in and enjoy!

Just came in for a couple of cocktails and they wer delicious. Highly recommend trying them! You can tell this is a place that takes pride. We didn't try the food, but I'm not sure if this is a place to eat a meal, mostly snacks. They recommended us a great place to go for dinner. Really friendly staff

I ADORE a well-written cocktail menu that makes you taste the drinks as you are reading it, but am so often disappointed when the drink arrives. Too tart, too sweet, too icky, too large, too much.....I know, I'm really picky. But Teardrop Lounge delivers!! While I only stopped in for one drink, that drink (the Silver Harvest) was delicious, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented!! I totally wanted a second one, but chose to move on to taste more of Portland. The bartenders were very friendly, which is sometimes hard to find in a place that takes cocktails so seriously. When I wanted to take a photo of ALL the bitters bottles, one of the bartenders faced them all for me. How sweet! Will definitely go back on my next trip.

Teardrop lounge may have been the craft cocktail bar that I was most excited to visit during my trip to portland. Maybe it was due to my current mood, but when we arrived I was a bit let down by decor. A weird attempt at modern with bad contemporary art work with cinderblock walls, wood beams on the ceiling and a mute Alfred Hitchcock movie playing on a projector screen... odd. Unfortunately the award winning drink I had read about was no longer on their menu, so I chose a mezcal based cocktail which to be honest tasted like smoked salmon. My partner enjoyed his drink very much. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. It's definitely a must visit if you're into authentic craft cocktails. I look forward to giving it another try my next time in Portland.

Nice, warm service from the guys working the tables and bar. The person I was with ordered a fussy, complicated drink, and the bartender gave her exactly what she wanted. She was impressed, and I was content. Nice decor in the smallish, one room bar. I've walked past this place for years, and never stopped in. Glad I finally did. My only suggestion: improve the food menu a bit

Ok, this might be a bold claim, there are a lot of great mixed drinks in Portland, but I have never once gotten a bad drink at Teardrop. They perfect the basics and create masterpiece drinks of their own. Always fresh fruit, top shelf only, fantastic bartenders and service. The atmosphere is also fantastic during the summer, open front, comfortable seating, and the bar is amazing. Oh and the food! Small plate portions of heaven! Expect to pay for the best and prepare to fall in love.

i went 3 nights in a row , on thursday quite early 9pm, on friday quite late and until open end and on saturday the quality of cocktails is very good, i prefer to seat at the bar than on the tables. you can describe what kind of dribks you like and they will try to satisfy you! they did with us!

Both my wife and I are huge cocktail fans so we always try to find the best in a city when visiting and this ranks high on our list. The cocktails are interesting and well priced (for what they are) and we loved the concept they had where visiting bartenders from all over the US would have a feature cocktail on their list. Service really impressed me as well. It was very busy when we arrive and a waitress came to us right away and wait time for our drinks was not bad at all. We liked the environment so much we ended up ordering a cheese plate which was very good as well. Highly recommend the visiting bartender cocktail the Boss Colada.

We met to celebrate the holidays and try their delicious drink menu. Incredible. Unique and memorable drinks. The food was entirely delicious, however a bit light in their appetizer serving size compared to other stops that we visited. Worth going there for the cocktails, but don’t go there hungry. :-)

The Teardrop never fails. A venerable pioneer of Portland's mixology legacy, the Teardrop Lounge holds its place in the Pearl district with majesty and reverence. Knowledgeable and friendly bartenders are the norm, and the warmth of the eclectic clientele welcome one and all. New bars come and go in the Rose city, but the Teardrop remains au courant. It's a great bar and the Teardrop represents Portland with aplomb.

I travel with a group of professional corporate mixologists and they said this place was great. When we arrived it was very classy, cool bar set up and when I asked the bartender to surprise me he definitely delivered with a very tasty cocktail crafted from what looked like 7 different ingredients. I was very impressed.

We kept asking all of the local servers, chefs and bartenders where they like to go and they consistently said "TearDrop"! We had to stop in for a drink and it did not disappoint - these bartenders know how to mix cocktails right. Inventive, beautiful and delicious. Definitely stop in when you're in the Pearl District.

The cocktails were fantastic! Service was phenomenal. The pappadams and chutney delicious! Highly recommend this spot.

Beautiful and vibrant lounge with some very spectacular cocktails. If whiskey or bourbon are your thing get the Fire Lookout., which i can't say enough good things about.

Cute and well kept bar, seating is limited, drinks are decently priced and staff was very friendly. Sat at the bar with friends, there are some tables to be seated at as well.

Hit this place up for happy hour with my girlfriend awhile back and it was great! The drinks were delish and strong and the server was friendly and helpful and laid back. The time we went traffic wasn't an issue but being in NW you should expect parking to take a little time and you'll have to pay for it. Want to go back and try more drinks and maybe some snacks. No complaints, try it!

Stopped by for Saturday drinks, did not disappoint. Really unique twists on traditional drinks, with seriously knowledgeable mixologists. Sit around the island bar to take advantage of the vibrant atmosphere.

Great bar staff. They know their stuff and they are beyond gracious. It's a very relaxed bar, but the signature drinks are clever without trying too hard. Nice bar menu for food, too. We made it for happy hour and would gladly have stayed except for concert tickets.

This is a very fancy bar. With high end type of crowed. The presentation and menu of cocktail are impressive. We ame here for an early drink around 17:00 and this place did not dissapoint.

this is it. Very welcoming bar/lounge with a knowledgeable staff. Asked the waiter to surprise me with a refreshing cocktail and he certainly did not disappoint. Tasty bites included a braised beef slider that I would definitely go back for. Come enjoy with friends

From the time you walk into the Lounge, the service is sublime. The drinks are eclectic and excellent. The food is also very good. I would highly recommend if you are looking for talented barmanship.

We had a wonderful time at Teardrop Lounge - a great place for cocktails. We ordered the "Other Side of Summer." ONE OF THE BEST COCKTAILS I'VE EVER HAD. Refreshing, crisp and gave us a buzz. I'd return to Teardrop Lounge!

This bar has the Best Old Fashions in the city and the best small bites in town. I love this place. I've been coming to this bar for years and the drinks have nothing compares to it.

we came here a couple of times The cocktails are amazing. I always tried some different every time I go back to the same place. Each time the cocktails were ones I never heard of, and each one was amazing. The place gets crowded and can be a bit loud. I will always recommend this place before going out for dinner

This bar was a great surprise (a positive one) as there are not a lot of places that close after midnight in Portland. The cocktails menu is the biggest I have ever seen and the staff is super friendly. Music is perfect (not loud). We made a reservation for 23 people and we all had a blast !

I’d heard some good recommendations for this bar and had to try it out. We had 4 different cocktails and all were very good to excellent. They had a decent happy hour bar and food menu. The place is very attractive and comfortable. Staff was welcoming and helpful. My only tears will be when I can’t get back there.

A local recommended Teardrop as their favorite happy hour place. We see why!! My partner and I were impressed that they think of every detail in the drink process, the artwork, the teardrop shaped bar, open windows, friendly staff - just a great vibe

We enjoyed a visit to the Teardrop Lounge in Portland last month. There is a very interesting list of cocktails, so if you are open minded to trying something new you will enjoy this place. There were a lot of good looking people in the bar---well dressed 20 somethings and very early thirties. Food was really good---enjoyed the baked brie.

One tired afternoon, hot from wandering in the Pearl district, we stopped in for a drink at Teardrop. It had been many years since last there. We had suffered recently from bad drinks at a recent eatery and wanted to make up for it. Indeed we did. We came in for a great drink and we had several. The bartenders are superb. The list of subtle and frank cocktail inventions covered the printed menu. The tie-wearing, dapper bartenders listed many alternatives that were not listed. I was asked what I liked and they suggested variations that sounded delectable. Two drinks later, and a bowl of olives, I was a happy wanderer. It is a great place for drinks.

Been here several times and always enjoy their drinks. I generally get my standard Lemon Drop, however, I did try one from the menu last time which was raspberry flavored with some bubbly wine in it. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.

In a group of 6, it's a hip spot. I see all kinds of "big" faces I recognize around portland. Everyone ordered different drinks. I tasted all of them= and they were all weird and disgusting. And I'm not a weird picky eater either. I have an experienced palate. Maybe it was an off night, but the staff was also HORRIBLE. Snotty, pretentious, wouldn't acknowledge me standing at the bar looking at you in the eye... Hello. Bad service doesn't get worse than this, especially for a crummy $14 bitter beverage. No thanks, never coming- telling all my friends.

Great classic cocktails, talented, creative, knowledgeable bartenders. I love going here when I'm in Portland!

This was an interesting experience. Large cocktail menu with all kinds of cool options. Very trendy vibe. The issue was more that my husband and I failed to live up to said vibe! It was quite dark with very high ceilings and some odd furnishings. Just a bit spooky and uncomfortable, haha. But worth a trip if you're in the area one night.

Went with friends and colleagues recently....it's great for cocktails, the bar is pretty cool, the staff are very friendly...but no draft beer. Perhaps this isn't s huge negative, but not everyone wants a cocktail when out with a diverse group of people. All in all, it's a swanky establishment, a touch hipster perhaps, but serving great cocktails.

This was a fun place to have a custom cocktail. The bar is U-shaped which makes for fun people watching. The bartenders are super knowledgeable. The drink menu is very creative and unique. It was fun to sit and watch the bartenders in action. I did not eat there but they do have small plates, too, as I recall.

I was surprised not to see a review of Teardrop already. I went last May, happened by and stopped in with a friend. Returned a couple nights later with more friends. A small place in the Pearl, they are serious about their cocktails - precise measures, multiple ingredients (including dozens of house-made tinctures and bitters), and all delicious. They will mix something on the spot based on requested ingredient(s), and have a daily special made with whatever they found fresh at the market that day. Highly recommended. It gets busy later at night.

I tried the Art of the Fugue, a vodka based cocktail and a Twentieth Century gin based cocktail. Both very well made and tasty. Only $6 each during Happy Hour

We have been coming here since they opened 11 years ago, and they have changed the way we look at craft cocktails. Daniel's plave is easily the best in Portland if not anywhere. You can find something to your taste on the extensive seasonal menu, but if not they can pretty much make you anything.

The best cocktails in Portland. Order off the menu or describe what you like -either way they will come up with something tasty and unique. Excellent service, nice atmosphere. The food did not wow me.

Very nice bar, professional barkeeps....they know their stuff and make each and every drink with pride. Food looked fantastic, I was simply there for the ambiance, quality cocktail and conversation. The shape of the bar, atmosphere....perfect. A little upscale but not pretentious.

Wow - really terrific cocktail bar. Do not go if you’re looking for a standard drink or beer. In order to bartend there, you must learn and memorize 300 cocktails. They take their craft very seriously and it shows. Chloe=Amazing! Highly recommend this place!

I stumbled upon this place, quite by accident. I can tell you that I truly enjoy mixology, and the team at Teardrop does as well. Micha was my server and he did a great job of mixing the perfect manhattan. I wish I had found this place BEFORE I had dinner, as I imagine their menu of items is as good as their drinks. The vibe there is awesome, and the options are plentiful. I was really impressed with how they engaged with the customers and made the entire experience one that I look forward to repeating. As an added note, my phone was about to die. So, one of the workers was kind enough to retrieve their charger. I was very appreciative.

If you want a cocktail that is made with as much passion, knowledge and love that you can fit in a glass... Go check this little gem in the Pearl out. These guys were on the front side of the whole cocktail culture resurgence and there is a reason why they continue to pack 'em in.

Great cocktails! This place has been here a long time now, and still consistently churns our inventive cocktails in a great prohibition era atmosphere.

Great place to stop for a well made cocktail with attention to detail. Bartenders in suspenders serving up great drinks with a friendly attitude. Hard to beat it.

Cozy little space with friendly staff and a wonderful cocktail menu - every cocktail ordered by the group I was with was a big hit. Happy hour cocktail deals are great, and make sure you try the truffle popcorn to go with your drink.

We went after dinner for a couple of cocktails on a Friday night, it was busy but the servers couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, they squeezed us in near the bar with cocktail menus & by the time our first drink arrived we were getting seated. The cocktails themselves were quite complicated & unusual for me ( from UK ) and really delicious. They seemed fairly priced to me. The whole ambience of the bar was relaxed & friendly and I would definitely recommend a visit

We were advised to ignore the menu and that's what we did. Belly up to the bar and make good friends. Give these artists a mood, a flavor, a texture a color and idea and ZING they're off. Stirring, eyeing, tinkering, fussing, tasting, WHOOOF a blow torch?, chilling, whipping, zesting, and in front of you is dropped your innocent looking metaphor in liquid form. This is great fun and you'll probably drop a small grip doing it but if cocktails are your thing, this place shouldn't be overlooked. The only downfall is that if you're anything like us, you'll want to run the gambit -- doing so will a. Get you very drunk and b. Probably make you feel less than happy with yourself the next afternoon (because you'll miss morning for sure). So, skip the pre-game, pace yourself and perhaps stick to a spirit of choice. It will still be worth it.

If you're into perfectly made cocktails with some prohibition era influence, this is the place for you! One of the mixologists we started talking to turned out to be the owner and he was very nice and super professional. The cocktails were just gorgeous! Ok, I was adventurous enough to try their mezcal and tamarind cocktail, maybe wouldn't go for it unless you really love both ingredients, but can't wait to be back some day and try more and more...

Teardrop boasts innovative cocktails, a fun round bar area, and the best bartenders. Loni was incredibly friendly and jotted a list of places for us to visit while managing half the bar. If you like fruity cocktails, try the Hotel Nacionale. We order several drinks, but this one was a favorite. We're definitely dropping by again when we're in the area.

I've been to a lot of bars in Portland and this one is one of my favorites. First of all the location is great, the cocktails are really good and all of the bartenders are friendly and take their job seriously. They also serve food their, I've never tried but I'm sure it's good. The bar itself is a very small place (maybe seats 50 people) definitely not for large groups but great for dates. The music is always good and even the bathrooms are nice and clean. If you are looking for a place to take your date I recommend this bar.

I walked in to a full bar, found a single barstool, and settled in. Before I even had my jacket off, the bartender had poured me a water, given me a menu, and asked the gentleman next to me to scoot over and give me some room. At the precise moment I closed the menu, the bartender came over to take my order. Mind you, the bar was full! I rarely see this sort of attentive and astute service. Kudos to TDL.

We visited Tear Drop with friends and had a delightful time. Our waitress was extremely helpful with suggestions, and along with a dictionary of the terms from the cocktail menu, we had four excellent drinks (we understand they have 100s of recipes). Don't plan on being here for dinner if you are hungry. The menu is light fare but delicious such as deviled eggs, liver mouse, crab stuffed avocado, empanadas and a peach cobbler (oh, how I wanted to try that). The decor is soft and comfortable. There is a table toward for four people that looks like the place to be but alas we discovered it to late. Check out the photo. We visited on a week night and scored a close parking space (fee involved) but it might be tough on a Friday or Saturday so plan ahead.

We were told to try out this new bar in the Pearl District in Portland, Oregon and have to say that we are so glad we did. The cocktails are handmade in true Mixology style. Interesting cocktails, funky bar food too. We just dropped in a for late cocktails and snacks. So good!!! Highly recommend. Very nice décor with their teardrop shaped bar. Great atmosphere.

This place is great! The attention to detail is what sets this place apart. It has a personality. That might be the personality of obsession with perfection. Seeing how perfectly arranged the bar is and how meticulous the staff is when making a drink is a real pleasure. Teardrop lounge truly elevates making a drink to an art form. It was wonderful and impressive to watch. Serving up both modern and classic cocktails. And by classic I mean I tried some killer cocktails that I had never heard that are about 80 years old. Well done! Had the enjoyment of visiting twice in our two day visit. Both times the music and atmosphere where bang on. They do have food but we did not have the pleasure of eating here. Next time I will. Go enjoy a cocktail. It will forever change your opinion of just how a cocktail should be served.

Small but very nice place with great cocktails. They customize cocktails to your taste and we have a few and they were all amazing. My favorite was the old fashioned.

...and then you came here. Their menu comes with a glossary, but don't be intimidated. These are nice folks who can listen to what you like and point you in the right direction. In the 3 times I've been, they have never steered me wrong! This is the mixed drink spot even your whiskey-drinking friends will love.

Incredibly unique cocktails with the best service. Our bartender really helped make recommendations to order the perfect drink, and made is custom creations that became new favorites. We will be back!

We stumbled across Teardrop Lounge as it was one of the few places open late on a Sunday evening, and what a fortuitous find! They do a diverse range of original cocktails, and Alejandro and Micah were extremely knowledgeable and willing to create cocktails tailored to our preferences. We'll definitely be back on our next visit to Portland.

This lounge is so much fun. The ingredients are premium and the atmosphere is nice. I’m not a big drinker, but I loved both my drinks. The flavors were so complex and not overpowered by the alcohol. My first drink was a grapefruit one and it had the best texture (it said it had egg whites in it). The next time I told the bartender (those guys work hard) that I wanted something that tasted like the beach. I’m not certain what was in it, but it tasted like citrus with a spicy after kick. I loved them both. I’ll definitely visit again next time in Portland.

This was one of the recommended places to check out during a surprise trip. Bopped in for a delicious cocktail before dinner. Had a delightful conversation with a local who frequents the place. I'd definitely return; great atmosphere!

Friends brought us here after a few cocktails at home nearby. This is a cool local bar with awesome bartenders who pride themselves on getting to know your flavor preferences and then introducing you to a new cocktail. No pretension or ultra cool vibe being put out. Very friendly and inviting. Great music in the background, but not so loud as to make conversations difficult.

Teardrop lounge is a non-pretentious and non-crowded lounge that's home to pretentious cocktails that are worthy of big crowds! Their cocktail menu has classics, plus creative drinks they originated themselves, plus creative drinks they've adapted from other bartenders in well-known bars from other cities! "Love in the afternoon" is one of the best cocktails I've ever had! "I have no thyme" was also incredibly delicious. The ambiance was lounge-y without feeling seedy or like a club. You can sit at the bar to watch the very talented bartenders make each drink, or else you can relax at indoor or outdoor tables with chairs. Our server was super helpful in figuring out what type of drink we wanted and giving us excellent recommendations. This bar is wonderful!!

After a long day of travel, we needed a martini. Teardrop fit the bill as we walked around getting to know the Pearl District. Good happy hour menu. Get the salmon drip: I actually liked it more than the drinks!

Great unique and original cocktails with bad service. The waitress was very inattentive. But the cocktails are fun.

Son took me here for pre-dinner drinks. Drink menu tells you this is a pretty sophisticated mixologist behind the bar. The server confirms all of that. Went for the Bond Vesper Martini--perfection. Went wild with their MaiTai (which may not have been on the menu but one of my favorites, if you can find a good one). Best Mai Tai in years, even served in a Tiki mug. Prices seemed reasonable. There is food to order but we didn't. Not too noisy. Very attentive staff and were not pushed to order more drinks. A wonder start to a night on the town. Will return.

I think many are too intimidated to go here despite them having the best drinks in the western part of the US. I too was preoccupied as I do not know any drink by name. But I simply told him I want a drink with hint of fruit and a hint of spice with no gin. And he made an INCREDIBLE drink. Easy. I will definitely go back every time I visit Portland. You'll pay about a tenner for a drink but well worth it!Awesome drinks, swanky atmosphere, hot girls..............

My husband and I stopped in for a drink based on a recommendation from the bartender at another restaurant. I asked where would be a good place for unusual cocktails and he said this was the place. He was right! The menu was about four pages long -- just for cocktails, not food -- and was broken down into four sections. House Cocktails for drinks they invented there, Adapted Classics and Friends -- interesting concoctions from other bars. I tried the "Weirding Way" -- mainly because I liked the name being a Heinlein fan, but also because it featured an unusual gin (Boomsma Oude genever, imported from Holland) and was described as "memories of trade routes in a glass." Who could resist? It was very good and at $8, not overpriced. They had an extensive collection of unusual liquors, along with several rows of housemade "tinctures and bitters." Another page of the menu was dedicated to a "Glossary of Terms" for those of us who don't happen to know what Batavia Arrack or Carpano Antica are. Beer, wine and sake were also available, although I can't imagine why anyone would order those here. The food menu was limited but the couple of small plates we ordered were good. Although the bar was completely full when we arrived, we didn't have a problem getting service from the bartender, who was friendly and helpful with the menu and not the least bit pretentious. Most of the clientele seemed to be in their 20s/30s, but they were not so young that we (in our 40s) felt out of place. Can't wait for a return trip to Portland to try another cocktail or two ...

I'm surprised this cocktail lounge isn't rated higher. As other reviewers mention, it does have a bit more of a euro feel… a slickness to its decor that is different that most urban Portland establishments. But the interior and exterior patio are still inviting and the drinks are special. By Los Angeles standards, we also found them to be very well priced. I don't know if the drinks are seasonal but they are all creative, carefully crafted, and really tasty. We found the servers to be knowledgeable and attentive enough. They definitely know the nuances of each cocktail, which is key. As with all things in Portland, everything is better on a warm, clear night (maybe folks from Portland don't see it this way?! Don't mean to insult your incredible city!) and this bar has large glass doors across the front that fully open to the street. Really festive with passerby in the popular Pearl district. Also walking distance to so many amazing restaurants!

We visited the Teardrop Lounge for drinks after work and enjoyed sitting in the sunshine on the patio. Drinks were creative and delicious, and there were some good bites on the happy hour menu. The interior of the restaurant looked nice as well - we will have to go back!

Great place to start or end your night. $7 cocktails at happy hour and some small plates. Cool circular bar and the service is great. Worth a visit for a cocktail.

Teardrop was a very enjoyable cocktail lounge, with friendly ambiance, knowledgeable service, and tasty concoctions.

Great cocktails and atmosphere. The bartender custom made my drink because what I liked wasn't on the menu. It was delicious. We did not try the food. Will definitely be back when we are in Portland.

Friendly bartenders who crafted us some tasty, specialty cocktails. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Portland, like a cool vibe, and enjoy strong drinks!

Went in late night Saturday night for a cocktail at the Teardrop lounge. Very interesting drink menu - lot's of new things to try - ordered a Manhattan which came out tasting super hot - lit chili sauce had been added to it - talked with the server who was super nice and quickly had it replaced - the new Manhattan was fantastic as were the other cocktails.
Great Place!
I visited this bar at 5pm on a Tuesday and loved it. The mixologists were very attentive, and created some fantastic cocktails. The atmosphere is cute and chic. I would highly recommend giving this place a try!
