Not a good experience

By TravelKid5760 |

Food was just OK. Expensive for the quality. Waiter did not take our drink orders until we asked him to do so. My wife ordered meatloaf. When it arrived she was told it was buffalo meatloaf. This fact was not stated on the menu. My wife is not a fan of buffalo. Manager offered us a dessert which we did not want. We will not be returning.

Phenomenal Food and Atmosphere

By FLCricket |

We thoroughly enjoyed the most lovely meal in their outdoor patio tonight. It was the rehearsal dinner for a friend of mine and our group of 14 was seated comfortably in the back corner at two large tables with a booster seat for the toddler. The two ceiling fans overhead were sufficient to keep us cool enough. Our reservation was at 6:30pm and we left at 9:30pm. Everything from the signature cocktails (my special request espresso martini was divine), extensive wine list, daily special appetizers (the lollipop lamb chops melted in your mouth), and the regular and daily special entrées were superb (from the Gruyère burger to the pan seared scallops or excellent fish special of the day with a grapefruit Demi glacé and set on a half and half bed of creamy beets and cauliflower). Totally forgot to take pictures. We were all so into our conversations and food & drinks. The 13 year old declared the burger and his mom’s fish special huge hits. If you are ever in the Buckhead area of Atlanta you have GOT to try this little bistro. Very friendly staff and management. Highly recommend! Ask for a table in Jessica’s section! She’s an excellent server and super attentive!

The Pork Shank is a great choice. Dishes weren't as hot as we liked.

By bhlraven1916 |

We had a great dinner at Terra Terroir. The jumbo lump crab cakes and gambas al ajero were delicious, and the lamb lollipop chops were well-seasoned, though small. I really enjoyed the slow-braised pork shank—tender and flavorful. The Kansas City strip and Alaskan halibut were also hits at the table. Only downside: the dishes weren’t hot, just warm. But the European-style decor and excellent service made up for it. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town.

A fabulous find! Wonderful experience

By Nancy G |

The food was outstanding! I ordered the shrimp and grits for my entree. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ate on the patio and it couldn't have been a lovelier setting! The wine suggestions were perfect. I am eager to go back soon.

Our little secret in Brookhaven

By JennieHelderman |

Tucked into the strip shopping center between RiteAid and a hair cut place is Terra Terroir, a Brookhaven secret and neighborhood treasure. I discovered it ten years ago and now it's a standby. I like the bison burgers and meatloaf although haven't had anything that wasn't good. Especially good wine selection and occasional wine tasting events..Nice patio. Quiet enough to talk inside. Families welcome. Good place to meeet for lunch. Wish it were easier to order carry out but I can never get through on the phone line. That's my only complaint.

A hidden gem

By Tamara M |

My husband and I really enjoy Terra Terroir. The food, the service and the ambiance are all wonderful. We look forward to dining at Terra Terroir again in the near future.

Great Atmosphere

By Sugar0123 |

The atmosphere was great. The food and wait staff very nice and professional. Brussel sprouts were outstanding. Only negative were the Mussels lack spicy flavor.

Wow! Unexpected Delight.

By Catharine G |

I was blown away by the atmosphere. I completely forgot I was at a strip mall the second I walked in AND the food was outstanding. I have shrimp & grits in every state I visit. Last week I had it in New Orleans. Terra Terror is THE BEST I'VE EVER HAD! Ever. You must try this place. Our entire group loved the food. The service was fair. It didn't match the setting & food quality but it wouldn't deter me from going again.

Hidden Gem

By ZexSwain |

Located in a shopping center on the outskirts of Buckhead is this neighborhood gem. Doesn't look like much from the outside but once you go in, you'll see this is a fine establishment. Excellent service and ambiance with unique eats. They good outdoor and patio seating. I lived in Brookhaven so I would come here every now and then as it was right around the corner.

Delightful Garden

What a splendid afternoon!

By KimberlysTrips |

We had a wonderful wine and a great meal. We asked to get the arugula salad split for two people and they were happy to accommodate. It was delicious! Then we both had a different sandwich and shared those as well. Both were great. One was the chicken salad croissant and the other was a grilled chicken. We had creme brulee and tiramisu for dessert. Needless to say, we skipped dinner.

Our favorite local restaurant for many reasons

By Danny S |

As always, the food, ambience and service were superb. This is our “go-to” place for special occasions or a relaxing evening as a couple or with friends. Yesterday evening we shared the Heart Salad, a robust combination of prosciutto ham slices, hearts of palm, artichoke hearts, olives, and Romaine lettuce. I had the lollipop lamb chops and my wife had the New York strip. Both were cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the crème brûlée and peach pie a la mode. Our server, Margarita, was so sweet and attentive, but unobtrusive. Hard-working Alec made sure our water glasses were refreshed and cleared our table of dishes to ready us for the next course, and always with a smile. To sum it up—if you want a casual yet upscale venue for a wonderful evening and fine dining, Terra Terroir is the best!

A must go

By Bill D |

Tucked away in a strip shopping center next to a retail pharmacy, this place is a must for people who want to dine with the locals who keep this place a secret for fear it will become too crowded. The food is well-prepared, simple, fresh and varied--by offerings and price. Dinner on the patio (heat devices keep the chill away on colder evenings) is a delight and give you the feeling of dinner in the country. The servers are attentive and engaging. The wine list large and thoughtful. Our place of choice when we simply want a fine, casual meal and a reprieve from our kitchen.

After a heated argument with the Boo

By Linda M K |

My husband and I had just gotten into a horrible argument before dinner but still wanted to eat, well at least I did. I asked my husband are you hungry he said no but I don't want you out alone. Well, this was our first time in this place and it was breathtaking when we walked in. It was a hidden surprise. My husband then says, well I guess I'll eat. Lol. Perfect food perfect ambiance , it was an amazing night

Multiple issues

By ejmont |

I had not been to Terra Terroir in a few years and was looking forward to a nice lunch. Unfortunately my experience was negative. I'll get right to the point: 1) Bench seats were so stained, I hesitated to sit. 2) Received cold Reuben sandwich (which was actually the special of the day!). 3) A cockroach was on are table. We could not find out server so we flagged down another waiter who killed the roach. We assumed that this waiter would tell our server but evidently he did not. When our server finally came around, we mentioned the cockroach to him. All he said was, "Oh, I guess this due to the rain". No apologies, no "what can I do to make it right", nothing. So of course we were not surprised when there was no impact on our bill. 4) Speaking of our bill, my friend and I split the bill with a credit card and a gift card. Even though we asked him to let us know if the gift card would not cover half the bill, he did not and ended up charging one of us 2/3rds of the bill. He just showed a complete lack of interest in our experience. The Terra used to be a jewel in an otherwise bland strip mall. Now it just fits the strip mall.

Lovely patio, great food, exceptional service.

By Kathy C |

This is a favorite. Although we usually dine inside, this time we were seated on the patio. It's just lovely and the temperature was controlled well enough to keep the heat out! Our waiter was especially pleasant and attentive! Had a great time, great dinner.

Pleasant break from all of Atlanta's chain restaurants

By EnjoyYourTrvl |

I have been to Terra Terroir a few times over the years but this is my first review. Having lived in several cities, my biggest complaint about Atlanta is the lack of small, privately owned restaurants. Accordingly, I find Terra Terroir a pleasant change of pace. The atmosphere is welcoming. The food is on par, or even exceeds, my anticipations. On the negative side, the server was very attentive initially. However, I did have to flag him down for a desert menu and ultimately for the check. Unfortunately, these are both a couple of my pet peeves. Nevertheless, I would recommend Terra Terroir to anyone in the upper Buckhead / Brookhaven area.

Lovely find in Brookhaven

By AZCatfan1 |

This restaurant was recommended by someone in our group. Our group was large and we were seated in a location not quite outside but a bit back from the main indoor seating area. I was unfortunate to be seated right under a speaker and near the outdoor area. I had the double whammy of not being able to hear and getting a cold breeze from the outdoors. The salmon was delicious. My wine was overlooked with the rest of the groups. I tried to cancel the drink order. The waiter advised that he would comp my drink so I accepted. It was not what I ordered... (Pinot noir vs. grigio). I tend not to eat out at restaurants this pricey.... $24 for salmon, I think $32 for scallops. I suppose if you know ahead of time, it's okay. I would return but this is not on top of my list.

Fabulous olace

By Tracy |

Terra Terroir is one of our favorite places in Atlanta. The staff are excellent, the patio is a fairytale surprise, and the food is absolutely superb. I was dubious because of the strip mall location, but once I entered, I fell in love. Two thumbs WAY up!! And be sure to say hello to the awesome staff! Carl, Brian, and the other fabulous one whose name escapes me, but he knows who he is : )

Little gem

By GailLAMBERT |

Great restaurant with amazing food. a little pricey but worth every cent. I think there are special evenings that are more reasonable, but the service and food was delicious.

Neighborhood Favorite

By missamandajones |

One of my go-to's in town. Food is always good. Service is good. Outdoor patio is remarkable! You would not expect much from the store front in a strip mall, but ask for a seat on the patio. Great date place or dinner with friends. Also has a great bar off the patio. You can bring your own wine and they have special wine events. Highly recommend.

Food and Service - Just Okay

By AtlFolks |

On the positive, the Butternut Squash soup was delightful; thick, creamy, and sweet. Also the Deviled Eggs has good flavor and was a nice appetizer. My Chicken Panini was too heavy on the bread, and the chicken was charred and dry. First restaurant I’ve been too that does not serve regular coffee, only an Americano, which was good but served by the cup only. Our server provided basic service - order taking and food delivering. Not overly attentive as a host. Place had potential and a lot of folks seem to like it, so it’s worth another try for me.

Second Visit

By WIgolfnut |

This was my second visit and just as with the first it was a great experience. The waiter suggested the brussel sprout fritters. I hesitated at first (who really likes brussel sprouts) but I am glad I went with his suggestion. Overall Excellent meal and wine selection.

Absolutely Amazing

By Lyle S |

From the moment that you see the outside decor & then walk inside, you are amazed at this place. Outstanding decor. The food is amazing. The owner meets you at the door & is extremely cordial. Kevin our waiter was outstanding and knew his wines to a "T". You will not be disappointed in eating here, The Patio is decorated to the "NINES" & is always packed. We will definitely go back

Special find . . . in an unlikely place.

By Thomas R |

Terra Terroir Kitchen & Bar is located in a small strip mall in Brookhaven. But, try it once and you won't care where you found it. The service is warm, friendly and skilled. But, better than the service you will experience is the delicious food you will enjoy. From appetizers to dessert . . . everything is exceptionally prepared and served. The ambiance is quaint and fun. You might get the feeling that you are on vacation. In my opinion, I believe it is worth a try if you enjoy a French theme. If not, there are many good things to taste. Enjoy!

A wonderful unassuming restaurant

By Tamara M |

My husband and I are pretty new to the area and we go to the dry cleaners next door. We finally had the opportunity to enjoy a lunch at this fantastic restaurant. When you walk inside you are transported into a beautiful almost nature like surrounding. We had no idea how nice it was going to be. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. We love the little sitting area that is outside too, so pretty and peaceful. We are definitely looking forward to our next meal at Terra Terroir Kitchen and Bar.

Amazing food!

By Traveler617514 |

The menu changes regularly and is always wonderful. I love the selection and the food is right in line with the prices. The dishes are classic with a unique twist and always delicious!

Disappointed but hopeful

By FlaGirl0616 |

We’ve always loved this place and supporting it, enjoyed the patio, the drinks, the atmosphere and solid service…. But now it’s all changed and not for the better. We recently invited family and friends to celebrate a special occasion and the drinks not only took more than 35 min to arrive but they were terrible.. we had to send a them back and just went with wine. The food was just ok and not the same quality caliber it once was. It makes us sad because we want this place to go back to the high quality and caliber it once was..

Great find in north Atlanta

By Traveling Coach |

I recently had a business lunch with two colleagues and one suggested this establishment which I had never heard of before. It is in a strip shopping center in Brookhaven (north Atlanta) next door to a Rite Aid. This is not your cushy and upscale Buckhead restaurant but when you walk through the door you immediately feel at home. This small, privately held restaurant is a wonderful change of pace to the large franchise and corporate restaurants common in Atlanta. The ambiance is low key and warm. The staff was warm, friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making me feel at home. Again, another change of pace in the hustle-bustle of Atlanta city life, We ate on the heated and covered back patio and had the place to ourselves for most of the lunch. In spite of the cold weather and rain it was delightfully warm and cozy. I started with the gumbo and while the consistency was more like Brunswick stew it tasted quite good. I had a salmon and spinach salad with a ginger sauce and it was delicious. My lunch partner had the salmon on the Ceasar Salad. The lunch menu is limited with soups, appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and desserts. The food is moderately priced and affordable. We had coffee and shared the creme brulee. It was very tasty. Overall, I liked this new experience a lot and intend to return, perhaps for an evening meal. If you are on the north side of Atlanta, give this family owned establishment a try. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as we did.

Exactly the sort of place we wanted to entertain family: Good food

By Gogocar |

My wife and I were visiting her brother and wife for Thanksgiving and we took them, their two grown sons and the fiance of one of them out for dinner on Friday evening. They chose the restaurant since we had no knowledge of the area, and it was exactly the sort of place that we would have chosen. Not too expensive (the bill before tip was $326 for 7 people including two bottles of wine and a couple of pre-dinner drinks - no desserts). The food was excellent, and the atmosphere very pleasant The service was fairly good, although it took us a little time to get our orders in.

Delightful food and atmosphere

By ChrisMcF612 |

Girlfriends and I went on Halloween night and the place was not crowded at all. Our waiter Eugene was a joy. We had the roasted brussels sprouts for an appetizer, and loved it. We had an expensive Chardonnay which was excellent. We tried the special: Red Snapper, the Veal Scallopini, and the pork chop, and all were presented nicely and delicious. Topped off the meal with the banana bread pudding, (Apparently the do a different bread pudding every night). The meal was superb, and the atmosphere is one of the most charming places I've been to in Atlanta. It has multiple dining areas, so everywhere feels cozy, and it also keeps the background noise very manageable, so it was very pleasant for conversation. Tons of fireplaces blazing and a lovely enclosed patio. You can't reserve the patio, but if there is 6 or more in your party, you will likely get a seat immediately in the patio area. We will definitely go back!

Outstanding food and service

By Alice W |

Love this chef inspired menu that changes seasonally. Cozy ambiance and comfortable seating. Craft cocktails and ample wine list. Outstanding, friendly service.

Great find

By GlobeTrotting790482 |

Great food and drinks. Took a chance & glad we went. My husband's Angus steak was cooked to perfection & the Riesling wine was great. The grilled octopus was my first time trying & was delicious!

OMG! Coconut Cake TO DIE FOR!

Words can not begin to describe the sheer decadence of this heavenly dessert! An escape to a tropical paradise all in a single bite! Carl - you are the master!

Best hidden secret in Atlanta

By Ed W |

My husband and I were in town for one night and wanted a place with fresh food, a good glass of wine but easy going I found the reviews on trip advisor and decidedly to give it a try WOW food was exceptional, wine list extensive but the best surprise what the covered outdoor patio with wonderful live jazz music Brussels sprouts appetizer was outstanding a must try even if you don't normally like them Excellent service excellent food exceptional atmosphere

Lunch with Old Friends

By Mary Anne H |

I ate at Terra Terroir with two old friends, one of whom lives in he area. The restaurant was almost empty but it was 2 pm! The terrace was lovely but because it was such a warm day, we chose to eat inside. I had the turkey and avocado salad. I ate every bite. This was a great choice for us to sit and catch up on the last 45 years or so. I would definitely return, especially if my friends were there, too.

Beware!!! Worms in Fish!!

By abaggs |

Spaghetti Worm Special? I went to Terra Terroir for dinner with a friend and got the special. It was Black Drum fish with veggies. I had never had it before and was told it was a meatier fish, not light and flaky. When it arrived, it looked and smelled good. I had two bites and thought it was fatty for a fish. So, I flipped it over and there were visible worms all over the bottom and inside of the filet. I was in shock. Called the waiter, Barrett over and gave the plate to him. He came back over and said we are really sorry, this has never happened before. We are going to comp your meal, but please still consider giving me a tip. Unbelievable! I have just ingested something disgusting and all you are worried about is your tip?? We left and no manager or anyone was in site on the way out. We were in the back patio and they were all hiding from us as we left. I went home and threw up everything. I was physically sick for over a week and couldn't eat out again for a while and especially not fish. I called the next day to speak with a manager about it and asked for the owner to call me. To this day no manager or owner of this restaurant has called us to apologize or tell us they have remedied the situation. Their lack of caring and compassion is very concerning and does not leave confidence the issues are being addressed. Highly recommend you stay away! I was told the fish came from Halpern's Steak and Seafood Co.

Beautiful place, great menu, terrible service.

By Hungrycat9 |

Several of us gathered last night at this beautiful restaurant. The menu was very interesting as was the wine list. Unfortunately, the service is some of the worst I've seen in an Atlanta restaurant. It truly was like our group was invisible! We got up several times to find our server---we seemed to have several or else there was just no one in particular assigned to our table. It really is too bad because it is truly a beautiful place in a convenient location. I hope they can do something about this because the bad service overshadowed what could have been a good meal.

Delicious neighborhood venue

By M H |

The decor in Terra Terroir will enchant you, especially on the porch. You feel as if you have been transported to a magical land. Once you have relaxed in this special setting, prepare for the food to delight you. We enjoyed the crispy brussel sprouts to start, and then we split the spinach ravioli with mushroom cream sauce. Fantastic!!!

Must go!

By Anne R |

Don’t let the outside of this restaurant fool you. It is a hidden gem. Great food, great service and wonderful ambiance.

Consistently Good

By layla207 |

Of all the restaurants in Atlanta, this is one that has stood out over the years as consistently good. The location looks lackluster on the outside but the patio is beautiful and prepared for all seasons. As far as the food, I have loved their salads, sandwiches and fish. Lunch and dinner were both great each time I've been. Service is good.

Surprise!!!

By Davis I. B |

Located in a strip mall, hidden next to a pharmacy and behind a fast food joint, I never gave this place much mind. On the insistance of my bride we visited on a childless weekend and with short notice (open table). WOW!! Def not what you expect to find behind the doors with a fully enclosed and decorated patio. Complete with fountain, heaters and ambient lighting to set a mood. Truthfully, it begs you to bring friends, laughs, great conversation and an expecting palate. The waiters were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. When the waitress did not have a strong recommendation for wine she summoned the sommelier who met our price point and individual tastes perfectly. Quite frankly, the whole experience was nice and easy. My only negative from the whole evening was I didn't rave over the brussel sprouts. They tasted awesome, just not to the crispness I liked them and I can forgive that because that's life. Will definitely be visiting again, only next time it will be with friends and no expectations of having to drive myself anywhere afterwards.

I Just Was Introduced to A Great Place

By 4thacura |

Friends took us out to dine at Terra Terroir and I was blown away. Nice cozy atmosphere and a wonderful patio area. Wonderful aromas hit you as soon as you enter. Every staff member we encountered greeted us warmly as we made our way back to the outdoor seating. Nice variety on the menu but you have to start with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts! Had to try the Whiskey Shrimp and was not disappointed. Fantastic flavors of each dish our party tried. Old school house-made Bread Pudding - out of sight! Gotta go back!

Birthday Surprise

By Yvette C |

I was surprised by a group of friends who treated me to this little gem. The location was the first surprise, as it is located in a small "strip mall" kind of area. However, upon walking in, you completely forget that. This place is both elegant and trendy at the same time. Good for a date night, or just dinner and wine with friends. Loved the chef, he took the time to come to our table and check to see how we enjoyed our meal, as well as taking a moment to chat. There is live jazz on certain nights as well as wine tastings....I would return.

Great Food, Bigger on the Inside

By PeachyGrace |

When you first see the outside of Terra Terroir you're not expecting much. It looks like a typical Dunwoody/Chamblee hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Of course, as we know, those often have the very best food. However, when you enter you'll know the food is not the only wonderful thing about this place. The service is fantastic. But if you want a real treat, ask to sit on the terrace. This room has a waterfall and twinkling lights. It's absolutely charming. I have been both on business and with family and each time I am happy all over again. The food is excellent and eclectic. I believe, if I recall correctly, that they also source locally as much as possible. I'd say it's good for date night as well as a night out with friends. And if you want to save a bit, go for lunch. Just delightful.

Fairly healthy eating...

Excellent Burger

By jonathb5 |

Mixed review with an excellent hamburger beautifully seasoned with a good greens salad and a mediocre apple tart filled with goopy filling. If this place could make every dish at the level of the burger, it would be a real winner.

Visited a couple of times now

By Kerwin Gray |

I have never been here for dinner, but I have met old coworkers here for lunch two or three times. The service is excellent. The food is but average, however, in my opinion. I tried the cold pea soup and the chicken wrap on my last visit. I have to say, it was just OK.

More than Meets the Eye

By Carlotta15 |

If you venture to the back patio or the cozy bar, you'll forget that this restaurant is located in a shopping center - which is actually a bonus since there is plenty of parking! Food is consistently good and there are lots of neighborhood regulars but its a spot worthy of a special trip. The patio is pretty spectacular and ideal for dates but also catching up with friends, its never too loud like some restaurants. Wine list is superb as are the drinks at the bar!

Surprisingly good local spot

By DBS5687 |

We regularly go to Terra Terroir and i have started to enjoy it more. The food is very good - brussels sprouts, lamb, salmon for example. They also have an excellent wine list. My only issue is that the staff are a little pushy - don't know if that is management talking or just the waiters. The best seating is in the back garden area and the bar is very nice as well.

Great ambiance and food!

By Jessica |

A delightful surprise for many who don't know at this restaurant. Great ambiance, service by attentive welcome and service staff and food. Vegetables in season, delightfully grilled and seasoned just right! Thank you!

Wonderful terrace

By Ann B |

Met friends for drinks and dinner and was very pleased to be seated on the terrace. Never expected to find such a lovely little terrace in a strip mall! Great deal on wine and excellent grilled artichoke appetizer. Excellent friendly service! Will definitely return!

Nice ambiance and excellent food

By whalewatchergirl |

My husband and I went for dinner on a Wednesday night. Place wasn't terribly crowded. Sat on the porch (which was very pleasant). Wine list is extensive. I ordered a Caesar Salad. I would call it very average (just romaine with bottled Caesar dressing on it). My risotto/scallops dish was very good. My husband had the seared tuna. He felt it was overcooked (not truly seared) but pretty good. We both really enjoyed ourselves and will probably go back.

Gluten Unfriendly

By Linda A |

Used to be our go to place. After celiac diagnosis we have tried to visit 3 times. First time waiter said pick what you want and I will check to see if it is gluten free. After 3 choices and 10-15 min between choices the rest of the table got there meals. We all were upset that they had food and I did not. The waiter flippantly said that I should eat plain lettuce if I wanted to eat with everyone. So I did. The place was only half full. Next time after the table waited to order until I got confirmation that my choice was gluten free the food made me very sick. We went through the unpleasant pick and check activity. The kids home from school begged to return to our special place. I called during the day to discuss my and my son's illness. At the suggestion of the manager, we made late reservations and requested the 2 special meals and allergy be noted on the reservation so that the server would understand. When we were seated we were told that they were out of our "choice". I began the difficult process of "you pick and I will ask the chief". My husband, daughter, and son's girlfriend waited to order until my son and I got something chosen. After 20 min and several trips to the kitchen the server came and said the chief was too busy to answer our questions anymore. We stood up and left. We went to There in Town Brookhaven where we were welcomed even though it was time to close the kitchen. The server understood our special needs and even warned us away from a dish that might have cross-contamination. There is now our go to place!

Fabulous mixologist and wine list. The food is OK

By GigiPM |

Sam at the bar is a gem. He makes his own cordials, syrups and is knowledgeable, will explain the cocktails and even have you taste some ingredients. The location and setting is great, secret gem kind of vibe. The food is OK. Nothing really special about it.

Great Find

By Dealmaker |

Well you could have blown us away when friends mention this nice little Brookhaven,GA restaurant located in a strip center. The ambience was wonderful, especially the back patio which was open air, but covered. The starter of brussels sprouts was great and the sea bass and salmon were cooked to order. The special pork chop of the night could have fed 2 people. Great bread pudding for desert. The server Eugene was excellent.

Terra-fic!

By isabill |

I met a friend at Terra for a lunch visit today and I have to say it was a successful meal. I was pleasantly surprised because I ate here about six years ago, and while I enjoyed the food then, the service was abysmal during that past visit. Today, the only cons we experienced were minor and are as follows: we were seated in the main dining area which could use a bit of sprucing up. The booth seat fabrics are a little tired and I felt like I needed a booster seat because the benches were so low! Be aware that the booth seats are not fixed to the floor - we almost lost our balance when getting up to leave because we used the seat backs to prop ourselves up from the depths of the abyss :) Our lunches were fantastic. I had the BBQ salmon sandwich (cooked perfectly) with a generous side of amazing truffle fries. My friend had the turkey avocado sandwich and fingerling potatoes. She also enjoyed her meal. The host was pleasant and cheerful. Our server was great and quite attentive. Water glasses remained full. The restaurant was packed - we were glad we had a reservation. It's a little pricey for lunch but typical of the area for this type of eatery. Don't let the bland shopping center location fool you. Terra Terroir is a nice place for lunch in the Brookhaven/ Lenox area. I didn't get a chance to peak at the patio this time but my recollection from my first visit is that it's quite nice.

Strip Mall Surprise

By Barbara K |

We dropped in for a quick dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. Located in an out-of-the-way strip mall, we expected mediocre food. Boy, were we wrong! It is a lovely place with beautiful outdoor seating when the weather cooperates. We ordered seared tuna, prepared perfectly - crusty and rare. We also had the appetizer lamb lollipops as a main course. The chops were meaty enough for a main, and again the preparation was spot on. We shared the Terra house salad, fantastic dressing. We also ordered the grilled artichoke, which we didn't enjoy and didn't eat. Without prompting, the server took it off our bill. A great gesture which, will encourage our return.

Great dinner with friends & family

By StevenHScher |

We had a party of nine people. We sat in the beautiful outdoor covered patio with trees & waterfall. It was a very beautiful setting. We were celebrating Mother's, a day early. The service was pretty good considering we had a party of nine & it was a busy Saturday night. The staff was very friendly & accommadating. The food was great. Six in our party started with the French onion soup which looked incredible & was delicious. It is made with a vegetable stock for those who are vegetarians. My wife started with the beet salad. She loved it. She said it was like eating candy, it had candied walnuts, beets, tomato, goat cheese with a balsamic reduction. I had the deconstructed lobster ravioli. Simply delicious. Not really ravioli. It was papparadelle pasta with lobster & beans & other greens in a type of vodka sauce. A very nice dish. My wife & several others had the special, a pan seared trout. It was perfect. The only disappointment was the children's pesto pasta. It was tasteless & watery. We shared the bread pudding dessert which was delicious. The prices are not cheap but reasonable for what you get. From the store front of this restaurant in a strip shopping center, you would not believe the decor & the patio. It was like stepping into a different world, a forrest. This is a great find.

Beautiful restaurant....food not so much.....

By Sherry P |

Nine friends gathered for lunch today to celebrate birthdays. The table was fabulous and set up for us. The waiter was great. The ambiance was terrific for a lunch gathering. The only not so positive thing was my meal. I ordered the Lobster roll BLT. It was 80% bread, maybe 1 ounce of lobster and tidbits of the BL and T. $15 later I was starving when I left. Some of the other dishes looked good and one of our party raved about the burger, but that was it. My only request is to please put some lobster in the Lobster BLT. Or just call it a Bread BLT.

Ate here w friends on NYE. We were informed that there was a fixed menu to select from. And THE PRICE. I have eaten here several times before & was very pleased w the food & prices. This experience was not the best. The food selections were fine but the portions were tiny! With tip we spent twice the quoted price!! We had one drink each & a modestly priced bottle of wine in addition to the fixed price. It wouldn't have been so bad had we not all gone home hungry . Had to cook a pizza when we got home. One couple stopped for burgers!! I will go again but will certainly order from the menu. Not a fixed one!!!

Great meal enhanced by atmosphere

By AtlantaTravlr |

Location - check. Bar service - check. Price point - check. Unique, delicious food - oh yeah! This small wine bar and foodie type restaurant is across the street from the Brookhaven Marta Station next to a drugstore in a long in the tooth strip mall. But check it out, and you will see why it has its regulars and might be hard to snag a table- especially outdoors. Friday nights they have a very nice reasonable wine happy hour. A great meal I had recently was the crispy brussel sprout appetizer and a seared salmon with some creamy grits and mushrooms. Entrees will run you about 20 -25 at dinnertime, but it is full meal and not alacarte. Service is great. Even if you cannot get a table on their patio, it is a nice bar to enjoy your first glass of wine in, and the indoors is cozy and warm ambience. I think this would by my first choice such as a small intimate event such as an engagement dinner or birthday celebration. Love it and will go often!

Fabulous!

By panpanda |

Never been to this beautiful restaurant before. We ate on the well heated porch in comfort, despite the pouring rain outside. Gorgeous plantings and a waterfall in a strip mall. Who would have imagined? Alex was our excellent waiter. I greatly enjoyed the chicken panini sandwich and side salad. The 4 of us split a huge piece of divine coconut cake. Wow!

I ate here on Wednesday with 4 of my friends. We all loved everything we got! We were a little bummed that we couldn't eat in the garden, as there was a party! Next time!

Happy

By Pat C |

Terra Terroir, was recommended by my sister, and I was very happy with the food and service. I was very happy no loud music so you can converse without having to yell. The food was also excellent, I highly recommend it. will be recommending it for my department Christmas luncheon.

Hard to find, but worth the search!

By Kay C |

This was my 1st time to Terra Terroir. It was a little hard to find...its signage gets overshadowed by the SteinMart & hair place flanking it. And you think 'uh oh' this isn't going to be good as it is a dinky storefront in a strip mall. But boy was I wrong. Once you walk in the door, the charm is immediately noticeable. The decor is subdued, but comfortable. The menu is good, but the wine list is extensive. Don't be intimidated...the server will consult with the sommelier and offer spot on suggestions! The food is good. The four of us started with the night's special watermelon salad (very refreshing); the beet & goat cheese (very good); the Caesar salad (huge and good); and the Caprese Salad (good, but too much mozzarella). The suggested white wine for our starters was terrific (unfortunately, as I was not the host, I don't know what it was). All four of our entrees paired perfectly with the suggested Pinot Noir. It went very well with the Scallops (excellent, but slightly salty); the Deconstructed Lobster Ravioli (WOW); the Tile Fish special (very good); and the Salmon (perfectly cooked). We all were so full, we passed on the yummy sounding desserts...next time.

interesting and delicious food - great place to go

By ann f |

It combines a great menu with wonderful ambience. Indoors and out , it is visually pleasing with a great staff and fabulous food

Surprising gem in Brookhaven

By madamson5 |

Located in a strip shopping center with an unassuming front door - this place is worthy of being on the regular rotation. Good variety of menu choices - including great desserts. A surprisingly affordable & diverse wine list.

Quiet suburban Oasis

By Jame C |

The correct name of the restaurant is Terra Terroir as shown on the receipt. On a warm clear Southern evening the patio seating was so relaxing and inviting that we lingered over our wine. Terra has an eclectic wine list including one of my favorites Hendry Unoaked Chardonnay. We dined on beet and goat cheese salad definitely enough for two along with the grilled artichoke appetizer followed by grilled trout on a bed of harcorts vert with rice and roasted chicken with garlic mashed potatoes and wonderful saute of mushrooms and brussel sprouts. The service was efficient and there was no attempt to rush completion of our evening. There is a large canopied table on the patio that would be perfect for a gathering of ten or twelve for a business dinner. Casual dress was the order of the day but I was comfortable in a sport coat. The price value taste relationship is excellent.

An unexpected haven in a strip mall!

By Delphine J |

Terra Terroir is one of my favorite restaurants where we have celebrated birthdays, anniversary's, graduations as well as casual dinners with friends and lunches. The Patio is the Best! Lunchtime Salads, Dinner specials, fresh, healthy choices. Do not be put off by the location - between MacDonalds and Rite Aid!! When you walk through the doors you will be greeted by friendly staff - especially the delightful older man at the front who is always charming! Take a walk through the restaurant to the outdoor patio which is a little oasis right in the city - fans and shade in the summer and heaters and fireplaces in the winter. You will not be disappointed.

Eating on the beautiful terrace is a delight in late Spring

By James W |

The wait staff were dressed neatly, and were friendly and attentive without being overly-so, and there were plenty of them on duty at 6pm on a Saturday. The food and drinks were served promptly. The vegetable and split pea soup tasted hearty, and the fillet mignon was tender and the portion size generous. My dining companion ordered a serving of fries with her steak, which was fairly large. We sat on the terrace which is delightful; the sound of the water fountain, birds and frog(s) - I'm unsure if they frog sounds are real - make it a memorable place to dine. I am happy to come here again and to bring friend's and guests. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous patio great food

By Tracy |

This is a little hidden gem. Don't let the strip mall façade fool you, the interior is like a secret garden! The wine list is extraordinarily reasonable with great selections and the chicken rivals baked chicken in France. We love this place!

3 1/2 - Good. After staying away for about two years, I was pleasantly surprised on a recent return trip that at least some of the things that made this restaurant a favorite when it first opened had returned. A brief history is important. When the restaurant first opened, it had a variety of reasonably priced comfort food items on the menu. (My favorite was the salmon with bowtie pasta and vodka sauce.) And it had a really nice wine by the glass list. And, it played soft selections of Sinatra and other pieces of the kind you hear on the "Singers and Standards" channel on the cable. A little later, they built out the back into a patio, and successfully screened it from the Kroger loading dock next door so that it made for a delightful outside experience on summer nights. (That grocery store closed long ago, so no more problems there.) It was a perfect spot for the Brookhaven/Club neighborhood around it. Then two bad things happened, and then a third. First, the restaurant got too full of itself and it's wine selection, and kept upping the wine selection until a glass of wine was in the $18 to $25 range -- really a non-starter for a restaurant that by that time had seats in the booths that were beginning to fail. Then they changed chefs (I presume) because the food quality went down. And later, worst of all, they changed the music to loud, contemporary vocals, which I find extremely annoying during dinner. So I stayed away, for several years. Having just returned -- twice now in the past couple of months, I was pleased with the new menu that contains a nice variety of dishes. The several I have tried have all been good. And, equally important, they brought the prices of the wines by the glass back down to a reasonable level. The music on the inside was still too loud and annoying for my taste, but fortunately on the patio it was quieter and very pleasant. Welcome back, Terra Terroir.

Nice lunch, beautiful restaurant, but a bit pricey

By Andi S |

We had a business lunch on a Thursday afternoon with our company's CEO and she selected this restaurant. I've never been before, so it was a first-time experience for me. We were a large party & were seated immediately. The restaurant is beautiful & much more spacious than it appears on the outside. There's a traditional dining area in the front, and a nice bar in the back, adjacent to a beautiful covered eating area outside. There's lush greenery & even a waterfall! The best thing about the restaurant is the atmosphere. The menu is pretty limited, especially if you have any dietary restrictions and the lunch menu is pretty pricey ($12-$14 for a burger or sandwich). I ordered the Mediterranean wrap (lamb, tomatoes, onions & yogurt sauce in a spinach wrap) and it wasn't very good. Even the fries (parmesan seasoned with truffle oil) disappointed...and I love my fries. Altogether, a nice spot, but with what they charge - the food could be a lot better. Tip - the white peach lemonade was delicious!

Nice neighborhood place, good food

Great arugula salad, nice tomato basil soup, excellent swordfish— long well done wine list— excellent service— not too noisy— nice outdoor area but too hot last night!

Great restaurant

I was with my family on vacation for 2 weeks in Atlanta, GA. One of the delightful restaurants we went was Terra Terroir. Clean space and very tasteful food. We will come again in Atlanta and we will go for sure there. Highly recommend

Great wines; great food; great value

By gracecpa |

I had one of the best bison burgers ever. The menu in general is quite appealing; I rarely find a dinner menu when every dish is appealing. When the weather is agreeable the outside patio cannot be beat and service is outstanding. This smart little cozy restaurant is a real find!

A nice surprise

By bigaps |

This was one of the few Italian restaurants we hadn't tried in Atlanta, and went last night. The entrance is small and almost inconspicuous, but the restaurant is quite large with a lovely arrangement for outdoor seating. The menu was fairly classic, with a few stand out items and a nice wine list. The appetizers, salads, and desserts (all home made) were excellent. Both entrees we had (mushroom pasta and seafood linguine) were of good quality and size, but a bit too bland. Not sure they have heard about garlic, onion, or Italian spices, and the pasta was overcooked - soft and flimsy. Prices were very reasonable and the staff very attentive and friendly. We will probably try it again for the non-pasta dishes, and ask for al-dente and extra spices if we get a pasta dish.

A hidden gem!

By Lolita D |

Like they say, don't judge a book by its cover. From the outside, this restaurant which is located in a strip mall looks very unappealing but when you step inside, it's a whole different world altogether! We celebrated our friend's birthday here last weekend and enjoyed the dining experience. We didn't get a table on the famous patio but the inside tables were just perfect. Our server was excellent! Friendly and knowledgeable. And the food came super quick! We enjoyed the yummy crispy brussel sprouts with spicy sauce. Yum yum! The Malbec went well with our choice of food. Lobster ravioli, rose braised chicken and lamb chops. All of them delicious! We ended on a sweet note with Kalhua flan which was very good. All in all, a delightful restaurant!

Nice Place Hidden In Plain View On Peachtree

By GuyFromAtlanta_GA |

We dined with our group (ten of us tonight) and had an enjoyable meal. I would have preferred the garden seating but maybe our group was too large. At any rate, the garden looks inviting. They have an impressive wine list but I suppose that would be expected with a name like Terra Terroir. I highly recommend the crispy Brussel sprouts app which comes with a killer spicy sauce. I ordered an entrée salad - the Mandarin Salmon Salad with Spinach. It comes with a fantastic soy and ginger dressing. My wife had the shrimp and grits. She thought the shrimp was a bit overdone and tough, but still enjoyed the flavors. My salmon was done medium and it was perfect that way. The atmosphere here is casual but not too casual - good for date night or a special night with friends. You will enjoy Terra Terroir.

Nice upscale neighborhood restaurant

By Cookejg |

We had another couple out and were celebrating a Birthday. It was our second time here, first was for lunch over a month ago. We were fortunate to get a beautiful table on the patio in front of the fountain. Food was very good and service excellent. We found prices a little on the high side, but wouldn't complain as the quality and service compensated OK. We definitely will return.

Tranquil dinner

By Ivona F |

Amazing setting, love the tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. The lighting and the decor just takes you to Europe. The duck was delicious and the crème brûlée was just perfect. I will definitely return!

An oasis-seriously

By Laurie G |

Terra Terroir occupies a storefront in an old shopping center. That being said, do NOT let it's humble parking lot fool you. This restaurant is AMAZING! Food is fresh & delicious & the atmosphere is literally unlike anything in this area->tucked away into the back of the restaurant is the coziest, quietest patio in Atlanta! The patio is first-come-first-served but it's worth the wait. Everything I've ever eaten there has been fantastic! It's Brookhaven's best-kept secret!!

Lamb burger extraordinnaire!

By KappaSuzy |

Excellent service out on the lovely patio by the fountain. Watermelon soup was amazing. The lamb burger with fresh mint in it was divine. I didn't even need mint jelly! Their name is similar to "From the Earth to the table" in English. Everything is fresh, extensive wine menu, and sommelier on premises. An Irish pub, gorgeous wood tables (each distinct) also on the premises. I can't wait to go back!

Marvelous food and drink! Excellent service!

By BrendaL |

We had our holiday party at Terra Terroir for the 4th time. Carl, Chris and Will and the team made it perfect! Don't miss going there!

Good fresh food and potential for a great evening

By John M |

We just happened on this place while in town before heading back to Birmingham and very much enjoyed our meal. Of particular note is the roasted Brussels sprouts - a simple dish, but done exactly right. We couldn't get enough of them. I also enjoyed a fine red pepper soup with a good fresh flavor. My risotto was also quite good, though the chef apparently has a preference for the thickest asparagus which I don't share. We did not have a reservation and couldn't get a table on the patio, but I did get to peek out there, and in the future, having a patio table would be a prerequisite for any return visit. It looked almost magically pleasant through the doors.

Excellent place for group gatherings

By DocatCHOA |

I have worked with David Foley five times now to schedule various social functions for our hospital staff. Each time has been a dream. The atmosphere at Terra Terroir allows everyone to relax, kick back, and really enjoy themselves. The wine selection is awesome. The food (especially the brussel sprouts) is tremendous. The service is very attentive. The administrative staff and the doctoral staff call it one of our favorite places. Thanks for creating a little heaven in the middle of Brookhaven!

Hidden Gem in Plain sight!

I've driven past this restaurant 100+times, and recently a friend mentioned going!!! Am I glad we went!!! Charming decor, great bar- and the BEST Patio for dinning in Atlanta! Food was fresh, updated, seasonal and Delish!

WOW!!!

By Nancy V |

Wonderful experience. Excellent menu with a great variety. Very reasonable, nice atmospere, & outstanding service! I had the chicken tacos which were delicious, a friend had the shrimp sandwich, and another the chicken salad. Oh, and to start off with a fried artichoke appetizer....yum!! When we walked out we all said " One of the best restaurants in Atlanta"!!

Lovely Evening

By njoireading247 |

This is in a strip mall but do not let that fool you. Even when you walk in you are thinking local pizza place....but it is so much more. Go through to the back and the door opens to a dining patio that was great. We had fabulous dirty martinis that went down so easily. A bottle of wine that was excellent and not too overpriced. The cheese and meat board was perfect for the four of use as we enjoyed our cocktails. The food arrived in an appropriate time frame, not to fast and not too slow. Sea bass was one choice for our table, and was excellent. Two had the NY strip which they thoroughly enjoyed. I had the tortellini and added shrimp....good choice although the sauce was a little more than I would have liked. Dessert was an apple bread pudding with ice cream that we shared. Lovely evening.

Ups and Downs

By hhstokes |

We went last night for a friends get together. There were five of us and none of us had been before. We all arrived a little perplexed; in a strip mall and next to a Rite-Aid? This was definitely misleading because once you entered, you totally have a different vibe. The front was modern and clean. The bar was warm and inviting. The patio was really cute although a little hot (July). There were a few mosquitos but with Rite-Aid next door we ran next door and got some spray. The wine selection was great as were the appetizers. The entrees were a mixed bag. The snapper special was delicious. The NY strip was perfectly cooked. The chicken Provencal was over cooked and like shoe leather but the really weird thing was the sea bass. 2 people of our group ordered it and 1 was perfect and one didn't even look like the same fish and was way over cooked. Willy, our server was terrific and the ambiance. I was sorry there wasn't more consistency in the food.

Great outdoors dining

By Darren S |

Sat outside on the hidden patio enjoying the warmth. Fantastic wine selection and I had the Sea bass which was done to perfection. Great atmosphere and the food, drinks and service were first class. Highly recommend.

Wonderful surprise

Excellent fried green tomato sandwich. So tasty. Lovely garden patio in the middle of Brookhaven- such a wonderful surprise. Great service. Will return!!

Great recommendation from an associate

By David R |

My work colleagues and I are in Atlanta and an associate that lives here recommend Terra Terroir it is close to their headquarters and not far from the hotel we are at. The service was great and the food excellent. The four of us had Salmon, chicken provencal, shrimp & grits, and the tortellini. Everyone enjoyed their food the price was a bit towards the pricey side but well worth the quality and service. I think we may return again at least once before we leave. It is located in a small shopping center and really looks out of place do not let the looks fool you

Very good food, lovely Maitre D'

By Emma H |

The Maitre D' here may well have been doing this for a while - a true hospitality professional. I was comfortable taking friends here for the first time before a Georgia Shakespeare performance, having dined once before. The sommelier was knowledgeable and didn't try and sell us something out of our price range. Menu was good - lighter choices (thank goodness) and very fresh. I love the hidden covered patio out back.

Wonderful food and service

By rcabr |

This relatively my small restaurant is tucked in the shopping center and not very obvious from the front. However they have courtyards in the back that are en closed, warm, (winter) with lighting and waterfalls. The food matches the decor. The sea bass was absolutely perfect. My husband's shrimp and grits were the best he's ever had. He also loved the crab cake appetizer. Our service was excellent. We will be back!!

Outside Looks Are Deceiving

By Thomas G |

While the strip mall exterior is ordinary, the fabulous food and charming interior make visits worthwhile! There is a wide-range of food and wine choice. Everything tried by our party was excellent. The service matched the food. With such delicious dishes, and a Wine Spectator recommendation for a number of years for its wine list, Terra Terroir is recommended highly!

All Around Great Experience

By Ann B |

We had dinner here with a group of 4 and everyone loved it! Brussel sprouts and mussel appetizers were excellent. Pasta, Scallops, Sea Bass and Ravioli entrees were delicious and service was excellent. Next time I would like to sit on the patio - a real gem you don't expect from the location in a strip mall. Will definitely go back and this could be our new favorite local restaurant.

Cheers to our BFF Jessica for finding this awesome spot,i have never felt more at home than this amazing hiding gem,it true the most amazing things are hidden in unexpected places!!!

Hidden jewel

By JanetHATL |

First time, you'll probably drive right past this place. After all it's in a nondescript strip mall. When you do find it, however, you will be charmed. It's a little sliver of a place, longer than wide, a bit like a shotgun house. In the back, however, is the most delightful patio you can imagine and a fabulous bar. The food is wonderful, the wine and beer lists extensive, and the cocktails creative. I always order the fig salad with rugula, sautéed figs, gorgonzola, bacon, prosciutto crisps and toasted walnuts. It's an unusual combination that just works well, with the spicy arugula offset by the sweet figs. Last trip, I had -- and loved -- the grilled flank steak with jasmine rice, arugula & pickled vegetable salad & sweet chili ginger dressing. A little arugula overload for sure, but hey, that was my choice! The steak was cooked to perfection with just the right bit of char. I tasted my companion's spinach ravioli with fried shallots, truffle oil, and a choice of sauces and meat accessories. He went for chicken and pesto cream. He was right to do so. Pasta was fresh. Had to be. We shared the bread adding, which also was good. Ok, so I have no complaints. This just might be my favorite new place!

Lunch on terrace

By Lisa |

The service, ambiance, food, and desserts, were superior! The shrimp tacos were delicious. All 3 shared desserts were divine, especially the creme brulee😋

Nice restaurant!

By Jola Z |

I went to Terra Terroir because I heard about it some time ago and I wanted to check it out. It looks like a Mexican restaurant from outside and it's very nice! It was cold, but we were sitting on a covered, heated patio which was perfect! Our waiter, Jamal (I think that's his name:) was very nice!! I ordered scallops with risotto (under small plates) and Brussels sprouts( as a starter, not a side). I liked the scallops with risotto, but there were only two scallops and it's $18 which I think it's a bit much compering to different restaurants that serve something similar. Brussels sprouts were good, maybe a bit oily, but with the sauce (a bit spicy, but for me spicy is mild for regular people) they were much better. My friend got them too and loved them. Except the scallops price that was too high, I think it's a great restaurant. I will go back there :) oh and no problem with parking because it's a huge lot next to Rite aid and McDonald's. Enjoy :)

The Best burger

By Pat_tripadvi |

The best burger I had. I also loved their prosciutto fig salad. Anything you’d eat here would be delicious. If I go back one day on the area I’d definitely grab some lunch or dinner there. Thankful you for the great food

I am dying to go back!

By travelbug155 |

I came here with my mom and 2 sisters. Everything we ordered was very delicious. Brussel sprouts app exceptional and the seared scallops that my sister ordered were making me want to go again soon to repeat the experience! Great service by Rob and indeed everyone there was very nice an accommodating to us (my mom is 93!) Also the atmosphere was lovely. I would like to sit near the twinkling lights and fountain next time. I will definitely be back.

Rare Find

By Wesstone |

Terra is situated in a half vacant strip shopping center just out of Buckhead in Brookhaven. When you enter, it is a totally different environment with detail in the decor and the food. The outdoor seating has semi private seating, a water feature and a Fireplace. The food is excellent, attentive servers, and a self proclaimed "wine geek" who keeps a great stash of wines. If you want to be able to talk with your dinner friends and have excellent wine and food this one of my Atlanta favorites.

Nice atmosphere, good food

By dbopen |

We dined on a rather slow weeknight. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere with a fountain in the outdoor area. overall the food was good but the service left a lot to be desired. Drinks took a long time to come and after our main courses came, we didn't see a server for quite a while - to check drinks or see how our meals were. Since we weren't in a hurry we just enjoyed our company and didn't let it affect the evening.

What a Nugget

By rankin2010 |

We were invited to meet friends here. When we drove up, I was not overly excited. Once I entered, I felt like I was in a whole other world. Decor was excellent. We sat in the way back in a private dining room. felt like I was in a family owned restaurant in Europe. Very relaxing. The wine list was excellent. The food was superb. Service was spot on. Pleasantly surprised when I got the bill. Did not feel like I had been fleeced. Try it. you will not regret it.

Excellent food in the USA.

By Fishp77 |

As Australian's we had come to expect most American dinning to be mediocre. Boy did this place prove us wrong. Excellent atmosphere, fantastic food and very good service. Portion size was just right for fine dining and the food was full of flavor and well presented. Five stars.

Just OK this time

By Nikki0715 |

We have eaten here many times over the years, this time they didn't WOW us. Couldn't taste anything but Spinach in the Spinach and Lobster Dip, and it was very runny. The Orzo in the Scallop Orzo was runny. The Filet Wellington tasted excellent, but was slightly overcooked. Have to say that the Sweet Potato Fries were excellent, but at a place like this and these prices, they shouldn't be the highlight of dinner.

Great Patio with Fountain-Good Food

By starter1 |

I ate here with a friend on a Saturday night. Make sure you get reservations on a Saturday night. We were there relatively early(6:45 pm) yet were only able to get a table in the bar area. The bartender served us and he was very friendly. The food came out in a decent amount of time. My friend had the salmon and I had the Lobster Ravioli. We both liked our food. It was very good...but can't quite say the food was great. The covered/heated patio area has a fountain. Would be nice to get reservations next time and sit out there. Good place to eat, especially if you are in Brookhaven. It's across the street from the Brookhaven Marta station.

Excellent dining experience

The food and service are excellent. Great cocktails and wine selection. If you have dietary issues, they will adjust the food. The covered patio make you feel like you are in a garden. Wonderful restaurant in Brookhaven, Georgia.

Fist Time

By PAP2300 |

A friend recommended this and we went for lunch. It was surprising! Located in a strip shopping center when you walk in you would think you had been transported someplace else. The food was good and a good selection. The garden area was delightful and the wine bar was very inviting. We plan to go back again , now that we have found it!

Good food (and wine), well served.

By 216bill |

They had and interesting and diverse menu with good specials. The prices were reasonable. We went back for lunch the next day.

Meh

By Richard M |

The food was distinctly average. Not bad, just nothing special. Service was hot and cold. Very attentive for a while, complete disappearance for other times. It's a decent place to go before heading to Georgia Shakespeare at Oglethorpe just up the road.

Don't go on Monday night

By Birdtrout |

Previously enjoyed a Saturday night dinner so invited friends with their family on a Monday. We were seated in the patio and a music group was playing. It was very loud so conversations was extremely difficult. The food was mediocre at best and servings seemed small and came in bowls. This did not even come close to our first experience at this restaurant.

Nice find

By J S |

My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant at lunch. The menu offers something for everyone. I enjoyed a delicious salmon salad; my husband had a beautiful hamburger with truffle fries. Although the weather was too hot for outside dining, the outdoor dining area is inviting. I would like to visit again in the evening.

Love Our Brookhaven Gem

By Charles B |

This was my second trip to the best little place hidden in a strip mall, but I did not do a review. Our dinner was excellent with the exception of a few flaws that were immediately addressed by our server Sam and the manager. I think it is important the staff knows when the kitchen staff are not on their game, no excuses for cold food when the restaurant is slow, and the price point, but everyone rose to the occasion and made all of us happy by taking care of the issue. I would recommend to the chef that hot food be served on warm (not bone cold) plates. The food is outstanding, so it’s a little let down to have a cold plate! I had the special, crab cakes, they we cooked to perfection and delicious, another had the rib eye, it was so favorable, tender and perfect temperature , another had the Frutti Di Mare which was a very plentifully dish, lots of seafood that was so tasty (the mussels arrived cold but it was corrected). I would have given this 5 stars across the board but attention to detail is a challenge when you are a 5 star restaurant which Terra Terroir has definitely earned. I highly recommend this hidden gem and I certainly will be coming back, more often too.

The name of the place is Terra Terrior!

By chrisco1000 |

It USED to be Terra Grille, but several years ago they changed it. What did not change is the superb food and interesting wine list. If you want a cocktail, if you want a beer, don't go here ... they only serve wine. But oh the wines they serve! And don't let the location turn you away. It is in a small strip shopping center on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven. Despite the fact that my dry cleaner is two doors down, the rest of the center is less than appealing. But walk into the door and prepare to enjoy a meal totally separated from the outside world. The outdoor patio is beautiful and comfortable. But what is best is the menu. I have been there with family, with friends, alone ... and have never been disappointed. Can I recommend a best meal? No. They are all good. Go. Relax. Enjoy. (Review notes: I have been there several times, so I just picked a random date to enter the review. Also, there is not really a bar, but don't let that distract you!)

Pleasant evening in every way

By GAbdan |

Since we live in another part of the city, this is not a restaurant I knew anything about, but it was recommended by another couple who live in the area. What a pleasant surprise, although we had some misgivings from outside appearances. It is almost hard to see the signage along a busy street and it is located in a half deserted older strip mall right across from a Marta station. All our doubts faded quickly as soon as we entered the door. We were greeted warmly and seated almost immediately. We were not able to sit covered back patio, but enjoyed our small table in the front dining area. Our waiter was very attentive and made good suggestions about the wines and the evening specials. The wine list is quite extensive and there are quite a few available by the glass...which is nice when one of our party doesn't drink wine at all, one likes Chardonnay, one Pinot Grigio and the other prefers the reds! I enjoyed the roasted beet salad very much; the other couple shared a garden salad and husband had the Caesar. For my entrée, I chose the shrimp and grits. It was delicious! It had just the right amount of spiciness with the sausage added, and the portion size was just right. My husband enjoyed the lamb chops and our friends had the sea bass. There was just enough room to share a dessert.....the bread pudding was a nice, finishing touch to a delightful evening. I would gladly make the drive to Terra Terroir again.....I'm thinking next time might be a girlfriend outing for lunch!

Outstanding Food, Wine and Value

I had dined at Terra Terroir several years ago, mostly for lunch, and always enjoyed it. For some reason I had forgotten all about it until this past weekend. My wife and I were delighted to be back. The dining room has a very nice ambiance, with outdoor seating as well. Both areas are upscale and comfortable. The menu contains many tempting items. We began by sharing an order of mussels and a Cesar salad, thinking that a $10 order of mussels would not be very large. Wrong. There must have been two dozen or more in the order. In addition, the mussels were large and the best we have ever had in Atlanta (where we order mussels regularly at 5 or 6 places). The Cesar salad was also very good. My wife ordered the Sea Bass, which was cooked to perfection. I had the Steak Frittes, expecting a relatively small piece of steak. After the mussels, I was not surprised to see the huge New York strip steak that was delivered to our table. It was prepared perfectly. I am a big eater and had to take half of the steak home for future enjoyment. Because everything had been beyond our expectations, we decided to share a dessert. We went with an apple, caramel bread pudding that was off the charts. Perhaps the most outstanding feature of Terra Terroir is their wine list. It almost brought tears to my eyes. They have a large, well balanced selection, which is priced very reasonably. We opted for the 2011 Vacqueyras at $45. We love this Rhone wine and rarely find it on restaurant wine lists. When we do, it is usually priced a little higher. Finding a selection this good and not be gouged makes for an excellent dining experience. All of this was enhanced by the service. Our server was "James H". He was knowledgeable about the food and wine. Better yet, he was enthusiastic about everything and helped make the experience delightful.

Delicious Food, Truly Exceptional Service, and a terrific Ambiance!

My wife and I recently had dinner here for the first time, and we were so enamored with the place that a few days later, when we asked our daughter, son-in-law, and 19-month old granddaughter out for Saturday lunch, we chose Terra Grille again! It did not disappoint. I can't say enough about the excellent food and super-attentive service. But watch out! Somebody could get hurt over sharing the Crispy Brussel Sprouts appetizer. There were knives involved! But I have to admit, my wife and I had been dying to come back here not because of the terrific food, but to experience the wonderful "indoor garden" patio area in the rear of the restaurant. We had barely caught a glimpse of it during our first visit, but it was enough to bring us back to check it out. This is one of the nicest venues I've ever seen hidden in a strip center restaurant. The high ceiling with cloth draped beneath it from end to end makes you feel like your dining out in a light-filled tent, and add to that a multi-tiered fountain at the end, a fireplace for the cold winter days . . . so nice it makes me want to drink wine. And they have a great wine list! And by the way, it's just across the street from the Bookhaven Marta Station, which makes it super convenient for busy travelers as well as locals. Great place. We'll definitely be back!

Everything Has Slipped Except The Prices

By sfinestone |

Last year my wife and I rediscovered Terra Terroir and I wrote a TA review rating it "excellent". We have returned many times and continued to enjoy the food, wine, ambiance and service. It had become one of our favorite "go to" places. Last week we returned for dinner and noticed a new menu with many of our favorites gone and the prices increased. Our server, who has taken care of us in the past, informed us that there was a new chef and improved quality. We had the charcuterie plate which was okay, but not nearly as good as before. Having loved their mussels in prior visits, I order that but found the mussels tiny and tasteless, compared to the large succulent ones we had become accustomed to in a delicious broth. My wife was not pleased with her entree either. By that point not much else registered or mattered. We were crushed. The wine list is still good and they still have the Vacqueyras wine and it is reasonably priced. Except for the wine selection and service, we left extremely disappointed and will most likely not return. It is sad to lose such a delightful and comfortable dining spot.

Special Spot in Busy Brookhaven

By Athena N |

Terra Terroir is easy to miss, hidden in a non descript shopping center but it is worth finding! Comfortable and charming with attentive staff and pleasant atmosphere. The menu is unique without being overwhelming or too 'precious.' Nice wine list and cocktails and the desserts are pretty special as well! Very nice spot!

Very Good, But You Wouldn't Know That From Outside

By atlantaga |

We have been to Terra Terrior twice in the last month. Both times, we found the menu to be interesting, the wine list good and the restaurant interior (with fine landscape photography) and the atmosphere to be a cut above. The place was packed with locals even though the restaurant is situated in an area that is challenging for a restaurant between two major town areas. The portions are generous and the food fresh. Without a better label, I would call it a California menu, strong on the so called "healhful" food (e,g. no fries) and it has some interesting menu items. It has a very nice outdoor patio. Try grilled portobello mushrooms, the spinach/mesculum greens salad, or the hangar steak with a dijon pepper corn sauce, for example. Or at lunch, try the tuna sandwich which is fabulous.

Disappointing Dinner

By JEwing4 |

I had dinner here recently with my wife and my brother- and sister-in-law. My wife has been here several times with her mother, and they have been pleased with it. I love the decor and the ambiance - colors, nice outdoors space, grill facing part of the seating area remind me of some restaurants out west. Very comfortable, not too noisy or quiet - perfect feel for a nice conversation after a busy day. Very nicely done to whomever designed the space. Very nice wine list, in my opinion. For dinner, I had the braised chicken (half chicken on the bone), the crispy brussels sprouts, and the truffle oil fries. With that, a nice glass of Lodi Zinfandel. Brussels sprouts were reasonably tasty, and the fries were OK as well, though not awesome. Unfortunately, the chicken was overdone and very dry, without taste -- not black, but to the point of my facing difficulty trying to deconstrut it with the utensils provided and then chewing it. The texture was literally almost to the point of being like chicken jerky (but without the taste). My wife informs me that although it's easy to overcook chicken, you can eliminate the guesswork by sticking a meat thermometer in and removing the heat when interior temp is 160-165F - perhaps this restaurant may want to try that in the future (in case they do not already do it and simply forgot tonight). I did not raise this problem with the staff because I do not like to be confrontational or come off as if I am jonesing for some free chow. I may or may not come back here - prices are somewhat high for what you get, and I am chary of taking another chance when there are so many great restaurants in Atlanta that have consistently delighted me time after time. In fairness, my wife had one of the entree salads and says she would give a "4."

An absolute gem

By Dennis B |

This restaurant is an absolute gem. Don't be turned off by its location in a strip center. It looks small but is spacious inside. It really is set up as two different decors. The first main room is open and spacious inside dining. The real treat is to get a table on the patio. It is enclosed to avoid weather. It is populated with natural vegetation, offering a very nice dining experience. They also have a room for private dining. The menu choices are quite good, and the food is fabulous. The wine choices are good. The service is attentive and friendly. This is now one of my top restaurants in the Atlanta area.

Hidden Gem

Very nice small restaurant. Great menu selections and nice service. It was cold so we could not enjoy the garden area, but I will revisit when the weather warms up!

Beautiful - Delicious

By GBee |

The restaurant is in a little strip mall so you might miss it but the back terrace is beautiful and calming and the food was delicious. My husband and I went in for lunch on our last trip to Atlanta. I had the Rome Picnic sandwich and my husband had the Mahi Mahi sandwich. Both were excellent. The only negative we had was ordering a starter that the waiter forgot to ring in and bring to us but we were both full from the sandwiches that we didn't need the starter. I would definitely go back on our next visit.

Outside patio rug smells funky

By Heidi B |

Neat atmosphere if you can get over the smell of the rug on the patio - the servings sizes are way small - I actually had to eat after I ate...

Always good, great local spot!

By tsw50 |

Short notice, met with a friend, what a treat...I'd forgotten how much I love this little place. But it's not really little, lots of different rooms each with its own ambiance. Food is always fresh and delicious, salmon is my go to and it's So Good. Great salads, pours a generous "by the glass". I tend to come for lunch but it's on my radar for dinner soon!!! Really like the little bar in the back. Great family run restaurant...service sometimes a bit slow but you forget how many folks are hidden in the other rooms. Ask the staff if you are on a time crunch and they will take good care of you and your table.

Hidden Gem in strip mall

By seven21 |

I was really impressed with this place since its location is deceiving. Don't let the Stein Mart strip mall spot make you think twice about eating here. The restaurant is more spacious than you'd expect with comfortable booths and table seating inside and a spacious patio out back. We chose to eat inside since it was a slightly chilly evening. But the back patio was packed on a Thursday night with local residents and what looked like a few girls get together groups. The food was good too. We had a tasty selection of beets and arugula salad for apps. We both had the sea bass for entrees with a side of Brussels to share. The sea bass was a nice sized portion and cooked perfectly. There was a mix of roasted Vegetables and fingerling potatoes served with the fish on top of a marinara sauce. The dish didn't need the marinara sauce in my opinion, so next time I'll leave it off. Service was on point too. Overall a very enjoyable experience and I'll be back!

Neighborhood Gem

By Bob M |

Don't let the strip shopping center deter you from trying this place. A great patio is available out back. Nice menu, which includes a fried Brussels Sprout appetizer that was just great, the Mussels were just OK. Entrees were good, not great, bison meatloaf was a little dry,but the service was excellent, prices OK. The jalapeno spiced chocolate mousse dessert was fab,

Try it!

Very good restaurant with a very pleasant atmosphere. The outdoor covered patio is usually my choice, but dining indoors is great too. The sea bass is excellent. Nice place for lunch or dinner.

A Jewell in BROOKHAVEN

By DALE S |

A wonderful restaurant in the heart of Brookhaven. Been several times and loved it each time. Atmosphere is great--especially in the outdoor garden restaurant area. The food is superb and the wine list very good and varied. Many good selections by the glass. A real neighborhood jewel.

Love the outdoor seating.

By mreesebryan |

I had not been to this restaurant in years but I did remember the great outdoor seating. You forget you are in a strip mall next to a drug store . Food very good . Loved the beet salad. My salmon was good but not a wow. Enjoyed the dipping sauce for bread. Good service.

Great Hidden Patio!

By KxCobain |

Terra Terroir has a great hidden patio in the back that adds a nice ambiance to the meal. The food and service are good as well.

Return visit? Probably-not sure

By letsgoeat |

Pre-bday lunch with a cpl of friends. Food was ok. Service needs a little bit of work We decided to sit on the covered patio (we were the only ppl out there) since it had stop raining (inside was a little bit too cold). The inside was not crowded at all - maybe 2 or 3 tables were occupied. The server had (I am assuming the manager-he didn't introduce himself just started asking what I wanted in a drink) "manager" help me out w/ drink choices. They didn't have a cpl of things I wanted so asked him to surprise me (anything sweet). He did. And, it was DELICIOUS! We ordered the Salmon Po Bo w/ parmesan truffle fries, Portobello mushroom panini w/ sweet potato fries, and vegetarian burger w/ potatoes. Not sure if we (or I) will come back. Maybe - just to give a second chance (but not in hurry to return).

Wonderful dining experience w/girlfriends

By cstocker |

Five girlfriends and I had dinner at Terra Terroir tonight. It was such a great experience that I came straight home to write up my review. Just like the other reviewers, don't let the half empty shopping center deter you from dining at this restaurant. We had reservations and was immediately seated on the covered patio. The patio reminded me of a small Parisian bistro with a fireplace and tranquil fountain. Our waiter was Chris and he did an amazing job of managing old friends talking and catching up while needing to order. We shared the crispy Brussels sprouts, mussels, and fried green tomatoes - all very good and tasty. For entrees, we had pan seared tuna, risotto, lamb chops, and grilled chicken. We all enjoyed our entrees very much. We shared dessert - awesome bread pudding, roasted plums, and chocolate torte. I highly recommend this restaurant and will return for dinner.

A Downtown Abbey Dinner!

By kacki41 |

This dinner was an "over the top" experience, but I am sure that anyone would get a meal fit for a Lord and his Lady at this restaurant! The food was delicious and the wine was great! The service was also great, very professional and courteous! The setting, the flowers, the candle lights, all made you feel like you were dinning with royalty! The evening was capped off with a talk about Downton Abbey! If you go to eat at Terre Terrior, you probably will not have the same experience, but you will not be disappointed with the quality of the food or the service!

Good food...but server not smart!

By spaintravelerAtlanta |

Went last night with 8 in our party. If you go you must sit outside in the garden where you listen to the (artificial) waterfall. There are space heaters outside so it was quite comfortable. Our server was not so friendly upon greeting us. The food was delicious....kale with shrimp, sea bass, salmon, vegetable plate, warm break pudding.....all great except for the fatty, tough, steak. When the person who ordered the steak told the server about how bad the steak tasted, all he did was remove the plate and not offer to remove it from the bill or even offer a dessert on the house. Big mistake! The price of the bad piece of meat will cost the restaurant the return of 8 people!

Wishing for improvements

By FlaGirl0616 |

We have long loved this restaurant for so many reasons, the beautiful patio being one of them. Be careful when you order a cocktail, I ordered a Cosmopolitan martini and got separate line item charges for everything in it on top of the menu price displayed - not cool. The menu really also needs to be refreshed. It’s getting harder and harder to convince ourselves that “maybe it’ll be better tonight”. Sometimes it’s a hit or miss. I would hate to see this place close but can’t continue to justify returning.

Dinner with friends

By Scott M |

I was looking for a place to take some friends who were in town and remembered that I had been here for lunch about a year ago and enjoyed it. We went for dinner on a Friday evening, were seated promptly (we had reservations) and had a fabulous meal. We sat in the back patio areas, which is like having dinner in an indoor garden. There is an extensive wine list with glasses and bottles for all budgets and tastes. The bread they serve is worth the visit by itself - crusty on on the outside and steamy soft on the inside. One of my companions had the rack of lamb, which she reported to be among the best she’s had. My other friend and I both had the special - a Denver steak with rice, asparagus, and a sauce whose origins I can’t remember but was perfectly salty and sweet. As I mentioned previously, the service was top notch - available but not intrusive. This restaurant is such a hidden gem. I will definitely not wait so long to come back.

Neighborhood GEM

By Shirley I |

Terra Terroir is one of our very favorite restaurants in Atlanta, and this city has many excellent restaurants!!! This one is a gem..... you wouldn't guess it from the outside, as it is in a strip mall and easy to miss. But it is across the street from the Brookhaven MARTA station, so even if you live further away, or are a tourist staying in a different part of town, you can still get here! It will be worth it..... the food is always fabulous, there is a superb and ever expanding wine list and the outdoor patio is one of the most beautiful anywhere. Bon appetit!!!!!

Bad dinner

By angie g |

Unfortunately we had a really bad meal last night. We ordered several different items and none were good. My husband ordered the Steak and Frittes. The steak was so tough he couldn't even cut it. The fires were limp and cold. I ordered a crab cake and it came out so cold it was almost frozen. Our friend wanted the salmon salad but the salmon was farm raised and was from Chile. When she ask to switch it for chicken he said it would be an extra $4 in addition to what they charge for the salmon. Really? He did later say they would just charge the same amount. Won't go back.
