Poor Service...

By tayl0rst0ne |

I dined in the restaurant twice on my stay and enjoyed conversation with the manager, Matthew. Shanance was my server and she was attentive, personable, and gave great service. I began my meal with a drink at the bar with the bartender (Randy I believe) she made it very obvious she did not want to work. When I walked in she was sitting at the bar on a bar stool. She was complaining to the other server about another guest in the restaurant. It took her 22 minutes to get my drink and I asked for a glass of wine. Maybe she was having a bad day, but the way she treated myself as well as others at the bar was ridiculous

Some good some bad

By Melvyn J |

Two couples ate on a rainy evening. The ambience in the restaurant was good even though there were hardly any other people eating. Starters were a creamy pasta dish, good but rich, deep fried crab cakes which were awful tasted only of salt, we should have sent them back. We chose a very good and expensive white wine but when the wine was poured it was left on the table to warm up so we had to ask 3 times for an ice bucket before it arrived. That is very poor service, we should never have to ask for an ice bucket. For mains we had tacos with grouper, grilled trout on a bed of creamed potato and a nicely presented burger. They were all okay.this was expensive for what we had and I wouldn't eat here again.

Unbelieveably Delicious

I love this place! We went to Atlanta Grill for lunch and sat outside on the patio. I had gotten the pecan smoked trout dish , and it was superb. The deserts are heavenly. It was a pricey lunch, but worth the experience.

Longest wait ever...

By JuliMcG |

We had a large party there this past week during Market week. We understand that the restaurant had moved from the second floor to the first, but the kitchen is still on the second floor. We were seated and all was moving along well until it came time for the main course to be served. It took 2 hours for the main courses to be served. We alerted the proper people and they only comp'ed us 2 meals. It was very disappointing. I know that options downtown are limited but I would seriously reconsider going back...

Good food, terrible service.

By luv2travel28056 |

I was disappointed with this place. My husband and I came here for breakfast before we left town. We didn't stay in this hotel. When we arrived, there was no host/hostess and it took a few minutes to get someone's attention to be seated. It's a very small seating area, and a small group of hotel guests were spread out all over the entire area talking, some not even eating. They had a breakfast buffet, but we preferred to order from the menu. We kept having to ask for everything and wait for it. Our food came out and we still had no silverware. It seemed like the waitress just ignored everything we asked for and, eventually never even came back to check on us. My husband had to get up and go ask someone else for silverware and napkins. We had to flag a manager down to get our check. When we left, our waitress was hanging out in the hotel lobby talking to someone. The only redeeming thing was the quality of the food. I ordered Eggs Benedict and my husband had the French toast. Both were good, but not extraordinary. However, at the prices they charge, I expect much better service. Maybe it was a fluke, one bad day? But, based on our experience, I would not return.

Tasty surprise

This was a nice place to go to avoid the masses when the gift show is in town. I am used to standing waiting for a table the first night I'm in town for the gift show. Tonight was a delight. Got seated immediately. (Had a reservation). We shared a salad and each ordered shrimp and grits. Everything was delicious. Had a bottle of prosecco. Also very nice.

Amazing food!

By cwood001 |

We had breakfast here everyday, which was great and also had dinner on December 31st. The menu was spectacular for NYE and the food was delish!

Great place for a meal and a drink!

Awesome Patio! Food was great and the selections were perfect. Cozy and quiet in the heart of Atlanta Downtown. Give it a try sometime.

Good Food

Ate on the terrace overlooking Peachtree Street. The food was good, but pricey. Not sure I would pay for that again. Great service however and Asia made us feel welcome.

A Great Find

By Nicholas C |

My wife and I visit Atlanta frequently on business and needed a quiet place with good food. What we found at the Terrace Bistro in the Ellis Hotel so much better than we had hoped for. Excellent food and extremely friendly, attentive service. I would recommend this place to everyone!

Great food bar service is terrible

By Michael J |

Unfortunately the night started out on the wrong foot because the bar could not get the drinks right. Grey goose on the rocks should not be a difficult drink to pour. Either our waitress wasn't listening or the bartender wasn't because I had to go to bar to get the correct drink. After that the night got better the food here is outstanding. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal.

Great time at the bar

By John J |

Went on a Friday night after visiting the Sun Dial nearby. We just stopped in to ask if there were any other good restaurants around (there weren't any other customers dinning in) but Daniel the bartender convinced us to stay. He was super friendly, funny and made great drinks. Would come back just because of him!

Unexpected great food for food lovers and foodies!

By The_Boulevardier |

I will be recommending this restaurant to all of my friends that visit Atlanta. Ingredients are fresh and locally sourced and the chef creates some wonderful and inspired dishes. I liked the food so much, that on my 5 day trip I ate here 4 times! Really, it is that good. I even asked the chef if he would share a recipe (ok, two) since I had to try to make some of his delicious food at home - to which he willingly and graciously obliged. Because the ingredients change seasonally, the menu changes accordingly, and now I only wish that I visited Atlanta more often so I can try more of the chef's tasty food. Recommended for anyone with a taste for delicious food.

Best kept secret for lunch downtown

By Stellatravels |

Don't be afraid to step into The Ellis hotel for lunch. I work downtown and have visited Terrace three times in the last month - bringing every visitor I've had for a delicious, sustainable lunch. I love that everything on the menu is sourced from local farmers and artisans. You can taste the freshness in all of the menu items from the Kettle macaroni and cheese to the turkey panini (with cripsy bacon, cranberry & orange relish Lollo Rosa, on the fluffy H&F ciabatta). Along with the delicious cuisine, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is fun but also peaceful/quiet. It's perfect for a business lunch but also a nice place to meet friends and linger for a while. If you are searching for a great spot for lunch downtown, you've found it here. Enjoy!

Wonderful food!!

By chairmanboard71 |

We have dined many times at the Terrace Restaurant. This time we decided to bring family and friends and the food was wonderful as always. Autumn, our server, did a wonderful job of making sure everything was good and that we were taken care of. A+ again for the Terrace Bistro!

Neighborhood Gem No More

By JezabelleATL |

Terrace (the restaurant at the Ellis Hotel) has recently undergone some renovations and new management. They now only offer an upstairs dining experience for events, and a much smaller downstairs area is available to general patrons. I work at a nearby company (within walking distance), and we have favored Terrace in the past for corporate events (probably around 5 events). Additionally, we have frequented Terrace with small and large groups (both in and out-of-towners) for their exceptional food and dining experience that favors local ingredients and Southern fare, bringing them business that totals in the $10,000+ range. After our most recent experience, WE WILL NOT BE BACK. In short, upon arrival for a company event, we were informed that our usual set up is no longer available (even though we had made arrangements beforehand and were told they would be happy to accommodate us). We troubleshooted, ordered some appetizers and drinks and sat at the bar (with the general public co-mingling in our intended-to-be private affair). When we were served the appetizers, WE (and our out of town investors) WERE SERVED DIRTY DISHES. These dirty dishes had salad dressing, food crumbs and had clearly been eaten on and never washed before being reserved. Management offered roughly $10 off (10% off the food only) of our over $300+ tab for the debacle. Although food and drinks were still very good (Tim in particular is an exceptional bartender who knows how to take good care of folks), I have never been more disappointed in serving staff and management. Unfortunately due to their new management, Terrace will no longer be the company favorite. They clearly value the short-term bottom line more than a long-standing relationship with a formerly loyal customer and company.

Best Breakfast in Atlanta

Not inexpensive but perfectly prepared and well served. Coffee and juice are fresh and just as they should be.

The Gluten-Free perspective - acceptable with potential

By GF_Seeker |

July 30 2018 There seemed to be a good number of GF options here. We only had a light, late lunch/early dinner: spinach salad with grilled chicken, and roasted beet and citrus salad with shrimp. The beet salad was nicely done; the spinach salad had too much dressing. We enjoyed dining on the terrace very much, even in the hot afternoon. An added plus is that it was open Sunday!

Food is ok

By goodieb2018 |

The food was ok, not great but it was convenient that it was inside our hotel and we didn't have to travel. The food was a bit overpriced though for its quality.

Cool place, downtown Atlanta.

By MIA_SN |

I had a late dinner there a week ago. Even though it was right around closing time they seated us and were friendly and accommodating. We started at a table outside, but had to move in the dinning room due to the weather conditions. They helped us and gave us a choice of table. We were in a mood for some Pinot Noir, but they were out of my first 2 choices, so it took some time to get a bottle. I ordered the Crab Cake Appetizer, which was delicious and for my meal I had the Mushroom, Arugula Risotto (appetizer). The wilted Arugula gave the risotto such strong flavor, so that definitely wasn't my favorite, but it wasn't bad. They get their food from 25 local farms and I could tell their dishes were made in the house, organic and fresh. I will go back.

Loved it! Special on so many levels

By n2dzine2 |

Fresh, organic, friendly, good value, creative menu, great wine, good people, convenient, will come back? Just go...

Excellent food and great service

By melstarrobinson |

We loved the farm-fresh food and excellent selections, eating there for dinner twice and for breakfast three times. Great breakfast buffet on the weekend, along with excellent food for dinner. We loved the fried green tomatoes and the Caesar Salad with heirloom tomatoes. Shrimp and grits and crab cakes also great selections. Nicole provided wonderful service.

Downtown Goody

By CinR84 |

My boyfriend and I decided against the bigger restaurants while we were visiting Atl this day. We walked down the street some and on a whim, decided to go into this little place. Its tucked on one side of the lobby of a Ellis Hotel Decor is upscale. you'll find business casuals having lunch inside or drinks at the bar. Doesn't seat many, but in the bustle of downtown Atlanta its surprisingly quiet. Onto the food. The food was great. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer since my boyfriend had never had them. He loved them and even ordered a second plate. He got the Turkey Brie melt-which was perfection. I had the shrimp and grits. Also delicious. the service was prompt and great, and if the food in the hotel is this good, I can imagine the hotel service. We will return.

Give me your tired and poor...

By Nadrod |

We drove all day from the sea island and decided to go downstairs just for a Happy Hour drinks. "We'll have a dinner somewhere else" was the plan. However, a friendly and professional service by Rick, great choice of wine and delicious appetizer were convincing enough for us to stay. The ambience was lovely, dinner did not disappoint and service was elegant and efficient! It was a perfect dinner after a long drive!

Farm to Table Creativity

By StarrTrekker |

I've eaten at Terrace several times, and enjoyed my meal. My most recent dinner there was no exception. I had scallops while my friends had roast chicken and coconut curry soup. All of us enjoyed our selections so much that we happily finished them even though we had said earlier that we were just going to have a "light" dinner. My friends also had wine with their meals. One remarked that he wished there were more wine selections. The by-the-glass options seemed a bit limited to him. Buying a bottle just for himself wasn't an option since we were on a brief business trip. Also, service was excellent. We were allowed to comfortably linger after our meals so we could continue our conversation. Our server was attentive but did not hover. I can recommend Terrace if you're looking for a sophisticated environment for dinner, whether for business or pleasure.

the perfect experience in downtown atlanta

By drdonatl |

have eaten at the ellis hotel a few times before, but this experience was the best. friendly, knowledgeable bartender at the bar in the lobby started the night off. moved upstairs for dinner, shared the spinch and arugula salad with my friend...we both agreed it was one of the most delicious salad we have ever had, i think i literally licked the plate. flat iron steak cooked perfectly, with delicious jalepeno topping and collard greens. the server was friendly , attentive and made us feel very comfortable. excellent wine recommendation topped of a perfect evening. cant wait for the outdoor, second floor patio overlooking peachtree st. to open for the spring. sitting in the heart of the city eating a fabulous meal ...what could be better?

Hidden Treasure

By vweek |

My team and I ate dinner here during a recent event. The Terrace has now become one of our favorite places to eat while downtown. I typically order a burger or a steak. The food is consistently good and prepared quickly. You definitely want to visit when you have the chance.

They serve a crab-cake that is absolutely like no other!!! I almost ordered another for dessert!

By elizabethwK8734OD |

The Terrace Bistro is certainly a very special, quaint and exceptional find for me. I lunched alone and viewed many small groups having business luncheons. Food delicious and perfect for meeting and/or quiet discussions. Eat inside in air or outside to feel the old fashioned ambiance of Atlanta. Wonderful!!

Some good, some notso; great service

By CA-Traveler1022 |

Walked by this several time and like the outside venue so decided to give it a try. Mixed reaction. Excellent service and very attentive staff. The item my wife wanted, the ravioli turned out to be unavailable, the kitchen had run out (at 6:45) so she sub with a small steak... which they gave us at the price of the ravioli! Class act there! Stake was done to perfection and she loved it. I had the crab cakes. Not bad, lots of crab! But the aioli they served with it was, in both our opinions, foul! I simply could not eat it. Not sure exactly what the problem was; certainly too much garlic, but tasted like no other aioli I've ever had. Thank goodness it was served on the side and not on the crab cakes. Ate the cakes which were good but missed a good sauce to highlight them.

Your Time Your Space

By TarunNPV |

The Terrace really lets you have your time and your space. The menu is well chosen ,though one could think of more options being provided. But given that a lot of the dishes are made of produce from local farms that support specific causes (and are not geneticaly modified) , one does not mind trying them out .

Definitely Overrated

By anichols8 |

This dinner was a kick off to a week long birthday celebration for my fiance'. I had purchased the Terrace Travelzoo deal a while back and then purchased the Living Social deal for the one night stay at the Ellis. I had originally reserved the outdoors seating but of course it was raining so we opted for inside seating. The ambiance is not bad for this downtown hotel restaurant. It was very chic and modern. There is not a lot of seating but it reminds me of smaller New York restaurants; the entire hotel did in fact; and I didn't mind that. What I did mind was the quality of the food. The Travelzoo deal came with two appetizers, two entrees, two desserts and two cocktails. For the appetizer he had the crab cake and I had the shrimp and grits. Neither appetizer was bad; the just weren't great. Keep in mind that this meal I am describing would have cost 146.00 before taxes and gratuity. For the entree my fiance' had the Trout entree and it was spectacular. I had the steak entree. I ordered my steak medium and it came out well done. I sent it back. It came out again, well done. The waiter said he didn't understand why the couldn't cook it right, ??? I was so frustrated because we had already been there a while so I just kept the steak. If it hadn't been for the Travel Zoo deal I would have left. The dessert was awful as well. If the pricing for this restaurant was lower then I would have expected less but considering the costs I was disappointed. I would definitely stay at the Ellis again but I would not dine at the Terrace.

Quaint Hotel Dining With Good Food & Service

By M L |

I visited The Ellis Hotel in Atlanta on Christmas day to see a friend who was staying there. The hotel itself is in a great part of the cities center with access to a lot of places to eat. We decided to dine in due to the rain, and I had a bacon cheeseburger with fries while my friend enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich. The restaurant was not very busy, and the staff had time to be very attentive and they were genuinely in a holiday spirit which was fun. I have never had a more amazing burger and I think its due to something they call "garlic mayo". They boast using local farms for their products which could be the secret to the delicious meal we savored. The prices were not terrible for hotel food. The burger and fries was 13, the pulled pork and fries was 10, sweet tea was 3 and delicious, a hennessy VS was 10 and a heineken was 6. I would not drink there again, but I would definitely agree the food prices were adequate. Paarth S was our server and he did a wonderful job. Terry was another wonderful server that we encountered during breakfast. I did not eat breakfast, but my friend had fruit with pancakes and eggs. The pancakes looked to be cooked to perfection topped with powdered sugar like a funnel cake, and my friend said they were tastey.

Very tasty, very local!

By Derek R |

We love the seafood variety! Try the grouper or scallops which were both cooked perfectly!!

Slow service and fruit flies galore.

By jean c |

Have only eaten there twice. Will never again due to fruit flies descending upon my meal inside the hotel.

Went there two nights in a row

Fantastic bar & restaurant staff, nice atmosphere (we sat outside on the balcony) and super tasty food! Highly recommend it.

Excellent food, service, environment.

By F16Pilot |

Locally grown can be a bit overplayed, but the Terrace does it right!

A real let down

By Harry95 |

The waiter was clueless as to the wines on their list and had to go to the bar to find out which wines were which. Fried green tomatoes were a very thin slice of tomato very heavily breaded for the thinness of the tomato. The squash and goats cheese fritters tasted very much of bread the goats cheese was indiscernable and yes I could see bits of squash but there was an overpowering cinnamon taste. The main courses in writing looked wonderful but in reality, my slow-cooked duck was no such thing, cooked from scratch for that order and quite tough. The shaved brussel sprouts were virtually raw and so very overpowering. My husband had the chicken and his spring greens were equally as uncooked and overpowering and his chicken whilst cooked had a very insipid skin. Have to say not worth the money.

Dinner was great but breakfast sucked

By Todd S |

Excellent dinner all natural food, breakfast was cold and very poor quality. I would not recommend eating breakfast at the Terrace.

Best Creme Brulee Ever

By Kathleen W |

We had our group dinner here on a recent business trip. Beet salad: very good. Pasta entrée: meh. Crème brulee dessert: the best I've ever tasted, anywhere, so my compliments and thanks to the pastry chef. Service: steady, prompt, and unobtrusive. Atmosphere: relaxed elegance.

Nice patio and good food

By CorpLibrarian |

The patio and the variety of fish options drew us in. It's a nice enclosed patio. So even though it's a busy street, it doesn't feel like your right on the street. We started with some happy hour drinks and appetizers. Then had dinner and shared a dessert. We enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and food. A great dinner for our last night in Atlanta!

Best restaurant in downtown Atlanta

By envirogal |

Whenever I come to Atlanta, I usually try to stay at The Ellis but even when I can't (like this time because they were booked), I go over to eat at The Terrace. Without a doubt, this is the best food in downtown with fresh farm to table ingrediants at fair prices. The ambiance is great and there even is a terrace to eat outside overlooking the downtown streetscape. Would highly recommend.

DON'T EAT HERE

By name9876543211234 |

The restaurant was empty when we arrived at 2pm, that should have been our queue to leave. We waited for about 15min, after being seated before any of the waiters came to get our orders- we ordered a sandwich and a burger. At 3pm we finally got our order. When i bit into my burger, it was all pink inside, even though i order medium well. I told the waitress and she took it back to the kitchen. It's now 3:30pm and I'm still waiting for my burger

Wonderful food, poor management

By beefweef |

I'll lay down the good first. Food is fantastic. Sitting on the terrace offers a unique urban dining experience which is rare for Atlanta. Supporting the local organic farms, the tasty farm-to-table dishes are the backbone of this restaurant. I've really given this place a chance. Thrice. On the third visit, I had reservations, but still took us awhile to get seated in a nearly empty restaurant. Waiter was lethargic and inattentive throughout the meal. Our appetizer arrived after 10 minutes, entrees took just over 45 minutes. Waiter described it as delays in the kitchen...there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant eating! Though the food was very good, I am sick of the management. Long waits between courses. An overall "green" waitstaff lacking knowledge of menu items, wine, etc. To top it off, after arriving ontime and honoring our reservation, the maitre'd canceled our OpenTable reservation after we had left. A simple mistake, but shows how disorganized and inefficient this place is.

Great Staff - Great Food!

By JTexUS |

The Staff really made the dining experience excellent for us - our waiter was outstanding! He knew the menu very well, was able to recommend several items, checked on a food allergy for us, and did not ignore us once the food arrived. We followed his recommendations and the food was great! We had the hamburgers (huge), they were cooked to our preference and served in a brioche bun which really added to the whole flavor profile. The location has both indoor and outdoor dining. We selected indoor and were disappointed with the level of noise in the room (difficult to hear each other talk), our waiter tried to get us an outdoor table, but they were full. Next time, we'll sit outside.

Perfect Rainy Brunch

By ErinWhatley |

We enjoyed omelets cooked-to-order and fresh bacon and oatmeal. Coffee was strong, yum! Atmosphere was modern, friendly and service was good.

What Food?

By Tom D |

We stayed at the Ellis Hotel and the menu for the Terrace looked fine, so why not? The restaurant is really just an extension of the bar and although nice was very poorly staffed the night we were there. It took them a while to find a bottle wine list so we ordered food while we were waiting. Apparently the sequencing threw them off since they completely forgot to order our dinner. After 40 minutes we asked what the hold up was, their response "what dinner?" We left. They comp'd the wine, but this place did not live up - in any way - to our expectations.

Average food but very clean

By Jacquie P |

The food here was average, not the best place to eat. For what i got it was a tad on the expensive side and the menu was not really to my taste. i found the portions small and some of the food combinations offered a little strange.

Great breakfast!!

By Duanne Aschton |

The bistro is small but offers a nice little spot for breakfast. The fare is delicious and abundent. We had made to,order on lets, thick cut bacon and delicious breakfast potatoes. All of this complimented by bottomless cups of coffee. Wonderful.

Great Organic Local Fare

By DianeP |

Nice setting overlooking peach tree ave. great salads and ribeye.

Convenient and nice, but not awesome

By Mark S |

I ate here in the evening and again the next morning. The staff is friendly, but not super attentive. The food is good, but not great considering the prices.

Great little place

By Pamela N |

We found this restaurant in July '10 and really enjoyed our meal. We went back last night and were equally pleased. LOVE the Farm to Table concept, and the chef puts together a really nice menu. Portion control is wonderful.

Great Room Service

By Tracy J |

Value and good food! Room service was very timely in their delivery and presentation was good. The staff was courteous and accommodating.

food good...service not

By Misty R |

We ate here for breakfast first. I ordered pancakes and bacon and my husband ordered sausage (which they told us they were out of, which was fine) so he ordered the bacon to go with his eggs and toast. The waitress brings out the food, without my pancakes, and apologizes and says the griddle won't get hot enough for pancakes are waffles ok. That was fine....but the fact I now I had a plate of bacon sitting there getting cold while I waited on my waffle to cook was not however they didn't charge me for the waffle since I couldn't get what I wanted. Move on to the dinner - they have menus in the elevators advertising their a Pre Fixed specialty menu and I saw something on it I wanted. We made reservations for 7pm and got there at about 10 til. We were sat and the waiter didn't give us that pre fixed menu, so I asked and he said "its only served until 7pm" I said its 7pm now and he looked surprised and said he would go check with the chef. He came back and presented us with the pre fix menu, but it was not the same as the one in the elevator. I mentioned this and he said the one in the elevator must be next weeks....or last weeks....I don't know they don't keep us informed. We get our drinks and we place our order. My husbands soup comes out and we realize their is no silverware on the table but we don't see our waiter again to ask for it until he comes to tell us he has to leave for a personal emergency, but will be around for a while (in actually ends up being for the next hour) and a new person will be taking care of us. Our food comes out and we are eating, but when we finish our plates sit...and sit....and sit. Our original waiter comes over and asks if we need more to drink and goes to get refills (he poured coke on top of a half watered down glass of the same instead of emptying it so I got watered down coke) and when he drops the off the plates still sit. At 8pm finally the 2nd waiter comes and asks if we are done, and asks if we want our check. We said we'd like to see the dessert menu (since my husbands meal price included dessert). He brings the menus and leaves. We were going to a ghost tour at 8:30 and thought we had plenty of time for dessert - we were wrong. 20 minutes later he returns and says "oh there was a glitch in the computer system and I just forgot about you" at that point we had to get the check and go or miss our tour which we had already paid for - needless to say my husband paid for the dessert he didn't get. We didn't have time to address this with the manager before we had to run, but plan to before checking out of the hotel.

Best crab cakes outside the State of Maryland!

By Bruce G. |

Stopped by for lunch the day after Thanksgiving, so the restaurant was empty and the bar was closed until 2:00 p.m. I enjoyed the crab cake burger with sweet potato fries. Portions were very generous. Waitress was very pleasant and efficient. Prices seemed reasonable for a restaurant in such a prime location. METRA train station entrance is across the street.

Delicious!

By Jean M |

While I wasn't extremely hungry the evening I stayed at the Ellis Hotel, a snack was in order so I decided on the fried green tomato appetizer and, oh, how delicious! The best fried green tomatoes I’ve ever tasted…please don’t tell my grandma! The service was excellent and the atmosphere delightful. . .very quaint.

Nice, but LOUD

By Candyndublin |

We should have stayed inside, but since we had been couped up in a car for hours we decided to hit the patio. The acoustics were bad and amplified other table discussions. The food was VERY good but the staff was "in the weeds". Still, all in all - great food and a reasonable price for downtown Atlanta.

Love this PLACE

By PLN_Bird_Girl |

Stayed at the Ellis Hotel for the first time for AmericasMart. LOVED IT! The very best thing was being able to come downstairs and eat an AWESOME breakfast. They have the surrounding hotels beat when it comes to food! We actually ate all of our meals here this trip - why go anywhere else when you can get wonderfully sourced, prepared, and presented food right here?!?

Excellent Food and Great Staff

By Lynn C |

The food is wonderful and the staff is very attentive without being annoying. Yes, it is a little expensive, but it is worth it. There are vegetarian and vegan options. The portions are not too big. The restaurant itself is very small, so it can be loud when full, and we made reservations both times we went.

Yum!

By lrizz |

Enjoying the best margarita right now on the terrace. Great service too.

Wonderful Food...Service...hit or miss.

By Janel H |

The food was fantastic here. We had a GREAT server the first day, his name is Sylvester. The 2nd and 3rd time we went, the service was sub-par.

Excellent Dining Experience

By Curtis C |

The service was outstanding. Our server was very helpful with suggestions for our meals. The meals were excellent and moderately priced.

Great Breakfast / Great Service / Great Price

By Becky J |

We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. From the time we walked in, we were made to feel very comfortable. The servers were very cordial and attended to all our needs. The cook making fresh omelets was very kind. The buffet included any hot item you may want, as well as cold items and pastries. The price was very reasonable. Shout-out to Joseph. He was the best server we've every had!!!!

Best vegetarian food I've ever had in Atlanta... Vegan and local Farm to Table!

By Martin S |

Wow. Just wow. I would never have gone to a hotel restaurant if I had known it was part of the hotel. I'm *so* glad I did. This place was awesome. Outdoor seating amidst a rain storm was just the start. I had the pasta/tofu dish, in which I never even noticed the tofu, and the cauliflower was the best I've ever had. The dish was a mix between cauliflower tempura and grilled veggies and spinach ravoli. I will come back to downtown Atlanta just with the obsession of finding this restaurant again. I don't usually review things as spectacular, but this was.

Last night in Atlanta

By Spressy |

We were looking to spend some time downtown before our flight to the next destination on the latest business trip. Had planned to go elsewhere but came across this restaurant, which admittedly was attached to the Ellis hotel- something I would normally avoid. After entering the hotel and heading towards the restaurant we were made very welcome by a team of hosts who worked together to make it a very pleasurable experience. The food was wonderful and very fresh. This was the best meal I had on my trip. We both had steak based dishes and they were very well presented and excellently prepared. The dessert menu was full of favourites and hard to choose which one to have. The Key Lime pie certainly come recommended. Very well done ......😀 no loud music blaring out, could hear ourselves think and we left to enjoy the food without constant interruptions

Excellent service and food!

By Dianne Hobbs |

Wow! We had awesome service from our waiter Daniel! He made sure our meal was perfect and kept our glasses full. He also went out of his way to take care of special requests. The food was very good also!

Enjoyed!

By Betsy D |

It was yummy! Love the farm to table. The service was great and enjoyed the wine list too.

Nice trrace, good food, good service, prices reasonable for downtown. We were there on a Tuesday evening, only 5 patrons in all.

2 Breakfasts and 1 Happy Hour

Ok. Its fine for breakfast and room service was also fast. I would go somewhere else for dinner. There are also better places for lunch within a stone's throw.

My FAVORITE place to lunch in Downtown!

By MaryKayLady4U |

With out comparison... I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ellis Terrace Bistro! I visit once a week and have sampled just about everything on the menu. Tasty salads, the BEST pulled pork sandwich you will ever eat, and an AMAZING Fried Green Tomato BLT that will make you question EVER going on a diet! The service is always top notch! From the moment you enter - you feel at home and welcome. Fabulous... fabulous... fabulous!

Great restaurant, the service was especially good

By Traveler12645 |

They had a special going for the day I was there, where it was a three course meal for the rice of a single entree. Since I had one other person with me, we were able to get two salads, two entrees, and two desserts. All of the food was awesome, not a single bad dish. The service was also great, where the waitress was able to remember everything without writing it down. She was always nearby, but never intrusive. Really perfect. The only issue I would have is expensive alcohol, which is to be expected. No draft beer, and craft bottle are $6, and average beer was $5 a bottle.

Very cozy with great service

By Talkdty |

caught a light hot breakfast which was terrific, very tasty and service was on par. Room service was available but we were up and out early for the day's event (TOA)

Best pulled pork sandwich EVER

By rosedagger267 |

Great hotel, great restaurant, great food and great staff. I could not ask for better, thank you. Hands down the best pulled pork sandwich I have ever had and the fried green tomatoes were excellent as well. Will definitely be back.

Nice meal - wonderful service

By Cathy B |

We opted to have dinner here when every restaurant was booked solid due to a convention and major football game in town (usually we try to eat dinner outside our hotel). Their patio was packed but we were happy to wait for a table so they gave us some water and menus to read while we waited at one of the high top tables inside. Within a few minutes we were seated in a great spot on the patio. The service was tad slow because the restaurant was packed but the wait staff was very accommodating and made us feel welcome and well treated. It was a beautiful evening so we had no problem with the extra time it took to get our food. The food was very tasty - we opted for appetizers and salads for dinner - we especially loved the fried green tomatoes. The shaved kale salad was very good as well.

Top notch customer service.

Like the title says, top notch customer service. Every single person was upbeat, super nice and they were an amazing team. The food was impeccable. It was all around a phenomenal experience. Way to go guys!!

Sitting by the rain...

By Kim T |

We took a short walk from our hotel on one of Atlanta's many Peachtree streets and discovered the historic Ellis Hotel. Of course, what we wanted was food and did this place have it. We sat outside on their small terrace, right next to a gentle falling rain. I had the grouper- kinda. They let me change my sides. The reason I say 'kinda' was because Cora, now almost 14 months, ate most of my fish, some of my fingerling potatoes, and the asparagus. Dannie finished the rest. The few bites I got were superb. The wine was very good, and served by Olivia. We had at least three wait staff during the course of our meal. You can't beat a lunch like that.

- 1 is too generous

By Rafael |

I apologize for scoring a One !!! TripSdvisory does not have a Zero score. I had to make three trips to the bar to get my drink order. ( ordering for our server was irrelevant ). The food never came .. When never was over , and my food showed up, I learned the chicken breasts have drumsticks bone sticking out. I canceled the rest of my food order. This place can not get it right to save their life !!!!!

Enjoyable Meal

By Karsed |

We were not able to get into the restaurant we wanted and walked around the area and found the Terrace at the Ellis - we were glad we did! It was raining, this was the weekend of the 4/20 festival in the park and things were crowded. We ordered the garden salad to share and they gave us each our own generous serving. The warm corn bread brought to the table disappeared in a flash and they offered more, but we declined. We enjoyed the grouper tacos and tilapia and shared the peach cobbler for dessert. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was very tasty - when we return to Atlanta we will definitely head back to the Ellis for another meal.

Completely mediocre

By Stevey |

We were simply underwhelmed by the whole meal. The hotel is really nice, and the restaurant space is very attractive. That said, the meal itself was average. The bread was stale, the hummus really dry. The shrimp and grits app was fine, but the goat cheese fritters SCREAMED for some sort of sauce. My wife's fish was OK. I had the duck breast. It had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Disappointing. The dessert was OK, but not much better than something you could prepare at home. Overall, completely unmemorable and certainly not worth the effort of a return visit.

Outstanding meals, generous portions

By SCMProfessor |

My wife and I were visiting Atlanta for the first time, and had an opportunity to stay at the Ellis, and eat at the Terrace. The meals there were so delicious we chose to eat there a second time in our short stay. The first night, we had scallops, mushroom pate full seasonal salad and the shortcake and carrotcake cupcakes for dessert. The second night, we had the Lamb Chops with mashed potatoes. Mmm... The portions were quite generous, and we found that splitting the full salad, and splitting the entree, were more than sufficient for the two of us (luckily we like to eat the same things!) We were also quite lucky that they had JUST brought back to the dessert menu the Peach Bread Pudding. Delicious! The amazingly friendly and attentive staff really capped an already great experience! I highly recommend anyone visiting Atlanta take at least one evening out of their plans to go and enjoy a meal--you won't regret it! BTW they not only take reservations, you can use Open Table--get your points!

You will be sorry if you do not eat here after checking in the hotel, it is premier all the way.

By Oreta S |

This resturant is quaint, quiet and the patio can be somewhat of an intimate setting if there are few guests. Definately something to check out. Wine list is great and the antipasta cheese plate is awesome for an after dinner treat.

Horrible Service

By S H |

The food at this restaurant was below average, however, the awful service greatly overshadowed anything on the menu. I attended this restaurant with a group of 12 people when we were at a conference in Atlanta. We arrived at 6:30, and it was at least 7:30 before we got drinks and at least 8pm before we even received our food. Even then, several plates were cold, one person's plate was not ordered yet, and many of the drinks had been seriously made wrong or mixed up. Not only this, but the server did not apologize for the service or lack thereof; she simply accepted the mix-ups as status quo and left us to sit there for hours on end while she did nothing to address the issue. We had joked about not getting out of there before 9:00, but it was after that time before we all had our checks given to us (they were wrong; and finally, after talking with a manager we each got 15% off our bill). We finally left after 9:30, and I can say I would never return here, especially in a large group. The service was terrible. I understand that mistakes happen, but there were no apologies from the server or from the management on behalf of the terrible experience. I absolutely would not recommend this restaurant.

Nice vegetarian options

By ca2va |

I was looking for a place to eat my first night at a conference, and The Terrace Bistro caught my eye. They had a few vegetarian choices on the menu - I picked the stuffed eggplant and it was amazing! The bread pudding was also the bomb - I had a great meal and the ambiance was nice - relaxed and casual. I would definitely go back.

Best little hangout in a great hotel

Food is wonderful...beverages are mixed perfectly and the service is excellent. Very attentive to every detail and they genuinely care that you have a perfect experience.

Didn't make it to dinner

By W4ATL |

My wife and I have eaten here many times and really enjoyed the excellent service and fine food for the price. The views of Peachtree were great if you ate on the balcony and the inside bar and restaurant area was very cozy and inviting. Note my use of the past tense. We were going to go to this restaurant for a nice Christmas dinner. Opentable showed they were open and available for reservations. When we arrived, my wife had to hunt the valet down while I waited with the car. When he arrived and I told him we were there for the restaurant, he ran back and got another piece of paper and then said to get it validated in the restaurant. Another stellar valet experience. The restaurant has moved downstairs and is extremely small, dark and cramped. We were the only customers there except for a lady at the bar that appeared to work at the hotel and was working on the menu. The host was also the bartender and our waiter. We decided to have a drink at the bar to soak in all the ambiance that this restaurant provides (lobby music, no Christmas music or decorations, dark, etc.) Our bartender/waiter/host had to find the key to unlock the liquor cabinet. After we ordered, and then explained how to make the drinks we ordered, my wife was instantly on her phone to make another reservation elsewhere. We finished our drinks and paid our tab without even ordering dinner. Our valet was gone again but the cabinet where he keeps the keys was open so I grabbed our keys, left our validated parking and "tip" inside the cabinet and got in our car which was just outside on the street on Ellis. We went to Nan and had a wonderful time!

Farm fresh,locally grown menu

By Misssherry |

Delightful restaurant, outdoor terrace with excellent service. I wanted to have a drink outside after an all day meeting in an air conditioned conference center. The menu was small and interesting with the listing of all local farms and providers for the ingredients of all menu items. Breakfast was delicious and the egg dishes were made from free range chickens raised locally. The Ellis hotel which houses the Terrace resturant offfers "wine down" from 5:30 to 6:30 week days.Great wines in an intimate setting and then I was handed a menu! I dined here 3 evenings and one morning for breakfast primarily because my server "invited" me to join him/her for dinner and breakfast. The service was great and personable. I wish I would have stayed at this small boutique hotel. Next time! The last evening I enjoyed a wonderful lamb dish and my server said " I hope I will see you for breakfast tomorrow, oh I forgot I don't work tomorrow, I"ll see you Friday. " When I told her I would be leaving Thursday she was genuinely sad. Great menu with servers who truly enjoyed their positions, Thanks, Ellis hotel, Terrace restaurant I will return!

Food Good, Evening Staff Bad

By 2011glen |

The food was very good but the evening staff needs an attitude adjustment and needs to lear how to smile and be attentive to their patrons.

Nice restaurant, but a bit small

By ccsuwxman19 |

Food was good and not too expensive. We got a $15 voucher for the restaurant when we checked in. Service was just fine.

Really good foox

By Gillian C |

The food, whatever you get here, is delicious. I made a reservation for 10 and 30 showed up. They were very accommodating (my friend is gluten free and vegan). The only issue we had was that one table was served a half hour before the other. BUT, to be fair, we did surprise them with three times as many people. I had the stuffed squash and it was delicious!

Wonderful experience at the Terrace Restaurant

By chairmanboard71 |

I set up an event today at the Ellis Hotel's Terrace Restaurant and we occupied one of the conference rooms on the second floor. It was a wonderful experience and the staff in all areas made the event go very smoothly. Special consideration to the general manager Kim and his restaurant staff including Sylvester and Jonathan. Thanks so much for everyone's help!

REstaurant Week

Great place for lunch in downtown Atlanta

By Jim M |

Nice and pleasant restaurant for lunch in downtown Atlanta. Service was excellent. Had the fried green tomatoe sandwich. It was just right.

Friendly People and Good Food

By TyBear |

The Soup of the day during my dinner visit was Beef Stew. OMG - It Was THE BEST I Ever Had. If I Knew How Good It Was Going To Be, I May Have Just Ordered 2 Bowls But Then I Would Have Missed Out On The Awesome Crab Cakes. During Breakfast The Chef Cooked My Omelet Wonderfully Every Morning. On Sunday I Arrived One Minute Before Breakfast Ended And The Server Made Sure I Had Everything I Wanted Before The Buffet Was Taken Down Including My Custom Omelet and Fresh Fruit. I Highly Recommend Eating Here.

Great Option for Vegetarian Food

By Mushugana |

Great restaurant in downtown Atlanta. Everything was farm to table so the veggies were very fresh and well prepared. They even had a delicious peach drink on special because the peaches were in season. I would recommend the mac and cheese starter, it was great.

Surprising gem

By Microsenthal |

In Atlanta on business, I went for a stroll looking for a place to eat. The Terrace Bistro had a pleasant looking patio, which I thought I would enjoy. I did. But even better, the food was great, the wine, was excellent, and the service charming. (Try the crab cakes and the fume blanc.). Great value for money.

Good breakfast

By cyberlinus53 |

Hotel bistro. Good buffet breakfast for $15. Selection oh hot and cold plates. Eggs prepared to order. Good value for money.

Great restaurant.

By iliketotravel123 |

Local, fresh food. Small but interesting menu. Take a look online. There were no specials, other than soup of the day. I had shrimp and grits for an appetizer. Tomato base which is not my favorite but very good. My husband had scallops enclosed in sausage then fried. Very good! My salad was the seasonal salad which would have been perfect if the peaches were not so hard. I enjoyed the flavor and combination of veggies. I had the trout which was excellent. Came with potatoes that were perfectly prepared. Yancey was our server. He was so helpful and attentive. He really was terrific! What a nice guy!

Other great choices to choose from in Downtown Atlanta

By Scott T |

We were walking by and starving so decided to try it out - not many people eating inside at 6:30 p.m. but went with the choice and sit down. The service was strange in that we had three people waiting on us and no one particular person was paying attention to our table it seemed throughout the course of the meal. There was more activity outside and it seemed the servers were more focused on them than the inside diners. I would not recommend the Parmesan Truffle fries -cold, tasteless and soggy. Our meals were okay they just took a while to make it to our table. Overall I would walk around downtown before choosing this hotel restaurant as I feel there are better options in that area.

Interesting menu and very well prepared food.

By Talkman |

Dinner on May 7, 2015 The restaurant is in the lobby of the Hotel Ellis. They have a very average coffee shop set up with unexciting tables. However, they have a not so large covered outside terrace for about 15-20 that was very delightful. The service was very friendly and very disjointed. They really need to get organized. It took awhile to get menus and settings, but the waiter knew his stuff and once ordered the first courses came out on time and the entrees came out together and hot. The trout was excellent, the steak and frites was above average and the stuffed eggplant was very well prepared. Price is not inexpensive but for the meal was not out of line.

Terrible

By Marierobo |

4 of us were having dinner. 2 were as ordered the other two were not. They were ordered as well done steak and they come out as rare or maybe medium rare. We asked for them to be redone. They came out again and one was medium to well done the other was still still rare. We sent that one back again and asked not to be charged. Food was average for what you paid. Would NEVER recommend this place.

Beyond my expectations: Great food, excellent service!

By TravelingGeneticist |

Wow! This was a fabulous restaurant. OK, it didn't hurt that the weather was PERFECT and we could sit on the balcony. We ordered cocktails. I had a regular mojito that would have satisfied my father-in-law! For starters, we both ordered the soup of the day, which was chilled honeydew melon and jalapeno with a mint yogurt sauce and arugula. Refreshing, and the jalapeno and arugula provided a hint of flavor and bite! At the recommendation of the server, I ordered the lamb. It was outstanding. My colleague ordered the pork chop. both looked fabulous, but he declared the lamb chop the winner. The dessert was also spectacular: cinnamon strawberry shortcake with a lavendar syrup and whipped cream. I will be adding cinnamon to my shortcake from now on! Plus, the wine list was good, and included several excellent by the glass options. I wish I lived in Atlanta so I could become a regular!

Convenient

Restaurant was located at hotel I stayed at. Food was okay, some items very good, other just average. Selection was limited, price was in the medium range. Drinks were average in taste and price.

Delightful service and cuisine!

By TheRealAwaxy |

Had dinner here with three of my friends. Beth, our waitress was extremely helpful with recommendations for both wine and food. I had a salmon special. While the fish could have been more moist, it was very flavorful. One friend had the carrot-ginger soup. She pronounced it excellent. Another in our party had the cheeseboard. There were 4 types of cheese plus candied peach slices, dried figs, dried berries, homemade raspberry jam, and a chunk of fresh honeycomb. It was all great! The wines were nice as well. I had an Oregon Pinot Gris and then a glass of an Oregon Pinot Noir. Both were fresh tasting and delicious. One friend had a Cabernet special. She said it was one of the nicest wines she had had in her life! When she ordered another glass, Beth admitted that there wasn't a manager on duty and they couldn't find another bottle. As compensation, she offered her a glass of any other wine on the house. It was a gracious and generous thing to do. We started on the outside terrace but when some bugs came by, we ended up going inside. Beth and the staff were very accomodating. I'd go back there in a minute!

Good but slow

By 777_Carla |

Food and drinks were very good, our waitress was friendly and attentive, however things just took too long to arrive at the table. The ambiance was very pleasant, with soul music and flowers.

Perfect food, perfect service, perfect evening!

By Michelle S |

My husband and I dined at The Terrace at Peachtree September 3, 2011 and it was a DEEEE-LIGHT! We arrived a bit early and decided to sit at the bar and have a few cocktails before dinner. The atmosphere is lovely and modern - but comfortable. The bartender was super friendly and made us his specialty. We were then seated at an outside table overlooking Peachtree St. Our waiter was very accomodating, informative, and friendly. The food was out of this world. We especially loved that each of the menu items were crafted from items from local farms. We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! We can't wait until the seasonal menu changes so we can go back and discover the new additions!

Sit outside on terrace

By Expert Traveler |

I picked this from my TripAdvisor recommendation. The restaurant is highly rated. I would not have enjoyed dining inside. It didn’t have a warm, cozy, fine-dining feel. I enjoyed dining outside on the terrace. It’s covered in the winter to keep warm. Our servers were excellent. The food is delicious. I especially enjoyed the fried green tomatoes. The trout was very good. The kale Caesar salad was also outstanding.

Fallen In Quality

By Tyler K |

Used to be one my favorite spots in Atlanta. The Restaurant has gotten considerably worse. The food is still good, but the management, ambiance, and service are terrible. They shut down the 2nd floor, and crammed everything into the bar area. One of my favorite parts of the Ellis, was sitting on the restaurant balcony overlooking Peachtree. Unfortunately this seating is no longer available. However, they do have a downstairs patio area that is ok. They really need to up their service and bring back the 2nd floor balcony for me to consider going back.

OK - but better nearby...

By MangaMan |

Average food (not bad, my steak was decent). But - much better food at the pubs very nearby for less. Overpriced and food took about 45 minutes to appear. Staying in the hotel? Not in a hurry? Don't mind paying a little extra? Then this should be fine.

Another good choice while traveling in Atlanta

By napalovers |

I chose this place for another night in Atlanta coz it was branded a true locovore experience. Also, I had admired the view of the second floor balcony from the previous night’s dinner. I had to start with the classic fried green tomatoes which came hot and crisp on a bed of greens and dash of dipping sauce. The tomatoes were firm and tasty though the crust a bit too heavy for my preference. The dressing complemented well, and serving was large enough (5 healthy slices) to share. Good thing I also saved room for a sample from the bread basket with excellent mini cornbread muffins and a savory light biscuit. My companion enjoyed the evening’s soup of chicken and rice. The half breast of roast chicken was tasty and juicy, a fair but not large portion and served on sweet potato mash with carrots cooked to firm with a mild sweetness. We wisely also chose to sample the sides from a list of tasty options (one for $5 or 3 for $12 at this time). We went for the sliced brussels’ sprouts, baked cauliflower and roasted mushrooms. An entire meal could easily be made from additional samplings from the list and would be quite satisfying. Dessert stayed true to the comfort food theme with a baked apple crisp also large enough to share. The wine list was adequate. Our server was helpful with menu questions.

Couples Dinner

By sbass464 |

Can not say enough good things about this place!!! They use organic ingredients sourced from local and regional farmers, fishermen and producers. I stayed at the Ellis several years ago and remembered how good the food was here. So even though we were staying across the street at the Ritz, this was where I wanted to eat!! I had the fish taco, (I know not that adventurous) but was I surprised. I don't know how they do it, but that was the most delicious thing ever!! My date choose the steak and when ask how he wants it cook, he always says "still mooing" most places don't get it right, but his was perfect and taste out of this world.. If you go and don't know the history of the hotel, hopefully you will get our waiter, as even though I knew of it, his version was full of interesting information and history!!

Another Mixed Review From Me

By idemandthebest |

First, the really great. The wild salmon entree was excellent. Ordered cooked thru but not overcooked, dry or burnt it came out perfectly and the side dishes were flavorful. The soup was too salty. It was some kind of chicken and noodle dish. The dessert was a peach crisp. It was too bland both in topping and peaches. Ate here last year with better results. I give it a very good rather than an average or poor due to the full entree that was excellent. It is sometimes hard to balance ratings when something is wonderful and something else is poor to average. Just stay away from the soup and peach crisp! Two other items. The Ellis moved the restaurant to the first floor right beside the bar. There should be some physical divider between the two areas related to visuals and noise. Secondly, Sirius music played. Too loud and not a pleasant station for relaxed or romantic dining.

Try the crab cakes!

By WCSteel |

We had a late night dinner - it was a great atmosphere and the staff were great - they tried very hard to please and even got us some bread immediately when we told them we were starving. Everything we had was delicious, including the soup, the crab cakes, the salad, and the desserts. A must try if you are staying downtown.

Beware if disabled

By Jason S |

They don’t think about people with disabilities so if you use a wheel chair or walking I would suggest a different place. As long as the serves are able to get to the table they’ll seat you regardless.

Good value, good food.

By Keith B |

We stayed at the Ellis Hotel, in which the Terrace is housed. We ate the Sunday buffet breakfast and, later, dinner that evening. The food on both occasions was good tasting and moderately priced. We were surprised that they did not have orange juice for breakfast, but they had other options. The made-to-order omelettes were good. The restaurant was essentially empty on Sunday evening, except for a few patrons at the bar. Only one server was on hand to address both bar and restaurant customers, but she was able to handle it relatively well. I enjoyed the trout I was served for dinner, but the potatoes were undercooked.

Disappointing

By vanholt |

In a city of much fried food, we loiked forward to a restaurant billed as locavore. We shouldve known rhere was a problem when at 7:30 pm on a Saturday night, we were the only diners. The food, which apparently came from organic area farms, was prepared in a mediocre way. hard to believe dried green to atoes could taste so bad in a sourhern state. Thr chicken and duck had uncreative sauces and accompaniments. The terrace outside was a nice French Quarter touch. Tbe aervice was okay, though seemed surprised by a request to taste one of the wines on the list. We didn't dare try the usual dessert (bread pudding, key lime pie, e.g.). Price was more than it was worth. Not to return.

Delicious Food, great service

By Paul D |

Wait staff was very king and willing to serve right up to closing time. Breakfast wait staff was extremely kind as well. I ordered room service from them as well and both the dinner and the breakfast was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Beyond Delicious

By Becky J |

This small restaurant is a must-do on our list of places to eat in downtown Atlanta. The food will just melt in our mouth. Each bite is more delicious than the one before. All food is farm fresh from farms around the area / state. The service is excellent. Servers are very attentive. The plates are served on modern style dishes and the food is beautifully presented. On this visit, we had dinner. On another occasion we had breakfast, which was equally as delicious as dinner.

Excellent restaurant in the Ellis Hotel!

By chairmanboard71 |

Great restaurant that offers very healthy farm fresh food! The staff is excellent as well as the food. I frequent the restaurant and the food and staff are always nice and helpful.

Wonderful concept not quite perfect execution

By grandmajane |

We had a nice evening. The black eyed pea hummus that started us off was not wonderful. We had a very hard time selecting our meals, but each of us was very happy with what we ordered. One ordered the 3 side selections and two of us ordered the tofu with rice and vegetables. Nothing on the desert menu sounded enticing. The server was very attentive and helpful.

Wonderful food and service!

By chairmanboard71 |

I make a weekly trip to downtown Atlanta from Marietta and always have lunch at the Terrace Bistro inside the Ellis Hotel. The food is wonderful and freshly made and the service is excellent. I have gotten to know the General Manager, Mr. Richard Kim Kleisner, and the Director of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Tom LaVaccare, as well as members of the restaurant staff and front desk. All are very pleasant and greet me with a smile and friendliness. I have tried several dishes at the restaurant and all are excellent......my favorite being the Coca-Cola Pulled Pork Sandwich. Definitely check this restaurant out and stay a night at the Ellis Hotel. I've stayed a couple of times and have enjoyed my stay very much! The staff treat their guests like family.

Visited twice. Good food. Weird mix environment

By Sjfotos |

I visited Terrace twice during a trade show week. The first time I sat in the covered outdoor space, which was a little chilly, but ok due to an overflow crowd. The second time I ate in the main room. This is a decent restaurant that is part of the Hotel Ellis. On both occasions I had the steak with Parmesan fries. First, the good. The servers on both night nights were very good. Polite, knowledgable and prompt. I could not ask for more. The steak was very good, as were the fries. There was a simple mound of greens with the steak and it was surprisingly good. The kitchen staff and servers had the right idea. The bad was that the restaurant has a built in compromise. The hotel bar and the seating for meals is in the same small space. The TV had a loud episode of "Family Feud" on. Yes....complete with the traditional fight ring bells going off and Steve Harvey at his promotional best....not conducive to dining on your $22 dollar steak. I would have asked to turn it down, but several stranded patrons were watching it....hey, it is a bar too....so, just be forewarned, you may feel like you are dining in a bar on some remote state highway....no offense to those establishments, but you go there expecting that. Second, they were out of some beers and the scallop entree. But I can understand that. It was the end of a long trade show week....a minor annoyance, not a major one. In any event, the food is good and you can probably count on that.

Wonderful atmosphere, mediocre food

I hate to even give a three star rating because there are so many positives but the food just did not meet my expectation. To start with positives - our server was attentive and friendly. Our cocktails were DELICIOUS! Definitely try the St. Germain + Champagne cocktail. The patio was awesome - we were basically right on the Atlanta sidewalk but under a covered patio so the rain could not stop our good times. But now the food :-(. I’m giving the lo rating because the restaurant holds itself out both in ambience, menu presentation and price as if the food will be high quality, gourmet food. It wasn’t. We ordered truffle Parmesan fries as an appetizer. Of course we were expecting hand cut steak fries with fresh shaved Parmesan and truffle oil. Instead - pictured with this review, what look like Ore-Ida fries with bottled grated Parmesan. The other food choices were equally disappointing. None of the food was bad - just didn’t meet expectation. If this were a sports bar, I would have no complaints - but for $100, the food was not up to par. That said - it’s a great location with a friendly staff. Oh and I forgot - $5 valet parking!!! the food just did not meet my expectation. First, this place isn't terrible. The wait staff are friendly and responsive. The restaurant is small but nice. They have a great menu. But, holy cow, how do you screw up a flat bread pizza? Soggy bread that's a weird structure. Nice ingredients but ones that don't mesh together. The service was so great and the wait staff so nice, I feel bad about complaining. I would give them another shot. Just order something else.

Last minute reservation available and so nice meal was had by all.

Needed a local place for dinner and so they had a reservation. Walked the few blocks to Ellis Hotel and dined here. Good choices for dinner and nice waitstaff. Busy but attentive service.

Great little place on Peachtree

By Pittsburgh_Don |

This is a great little place right on the corner of Peachtree and Ellis. Very nice menu. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. They have a very nice outdoor covered patio. I always like to dine outside when possible and this was a great option.

Pleasantly Flavorful

Very nicely appointed decor. Flavorful food. Pleasant service (Paarth). We will definitely return again soon. It is also centrally located in Downtown in close proximity to local attractions and destinations. Enthusiastically recommended.

Nice lunch--grilled cheese and tomato basil soup

Great lunch spot. Grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup were both fantastic. Clean and quiet interior.

Breakfast buffet and lunch.........both perfect

By Matthew T A |

I had the breakfast buffet and it was perfect..........and only $15.......biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, ham and cheese omlette.......every one totally perfect and delicious...........Autumn and Charles both just as polite and friendly as you could imagine. We also had lunch and the spinach/chicken soup was extremely flavorsome and satisfying and the burger was also delicious. I want to visit this restaurant again for sure in the future.

Good try but no cigar!

This tiny restaurant sits partly outside on a patio above ground in the boutique Ellis hotel on Peachtree. We loved the vibe being over looking Peachtree street and being in the city. Service is ok, waitress tried but after observing so many high end restaurants, I think the management need to provide more training; the dos and don'ts of serving. Food was so so, the most interesting course was the Tofu vegetarian main dish, watermelon salad was not quite there. The patio was quite narrow, so tables were set close and intimate, too bad there were two separate tables who got on so well, started talking about the football game and losing theri manners over it. We sat right in front of the door way and the door was never close, despite requested a few times, it was a gorgeous evening, the cold air from the inside blew right at us like a big fan, not talking about wasting of energy, I think establishment need to learn to conserve and open up door and windows like European do. All and all, we won't be back, nothing impressive.

A great place to dress up and enjoy a 1st class dinner with your wife!!

If you want to make diner special, the "Terrace On Peachtree" located in the "Ellis Hotel" is the place. Service was wonderful and every thing was great. I loved the Steak... The only down side was the wine list was a little limited but we loved. Looking forward to another date night soon!!

Ok breakfast downtown

By sp8holly |

Heard great things about breakfast at The Terrace. I tried it and it was just ok. The restaurant is lovely and clean but the service was bad.... I was there at an odd time and everyone was more interested in cleaning and setting up for lunch than waiting on me. The menu emphasizes use of locally grown foods. I didn't see anything much in the way of this. However the potatoes were delicious. Might be a better fit for lunch or dinner!

Fine food - high prices

Went here for lunch. Had the terrace burger. Food was fine. But in the neigborhood you can get the same for a lot less. So you pay for for the nice surroundings. Would go here again for a more formal lunch.

The "Food to Table" Sign Got My Attention

By yellowpixels |

This restaurant is located in the Ellis Hotel - a boutique hotel. It has limited indoor seating and additional out door "patio" seating as well as a small bar. They serve vegetarian and vegan dishes along with more traditional southern food. The food was surprisingly fresh and tasty - the entree I ordered ( ravioli ) was quite good. They were out of most of the deserts - no peach cobbler (sigh). A little on the expensive side - worth it if you don't mind paying for quality.

Great service, good food, decent wine list

I noticed a lot of comments on slow service at the Terrace and can only say that our expereience was the opposite. Staff were charming and helpful. They were great to talk with and very attentive. Special kudos to Autumn at the bar...she makes a mean key lime martini and is very concerned that the guests feel well taken care of and welcome.

Ok food, strange service

The food was ok but only two of three meals came out and we waited 30 minutes for the third. We ordered desserts to go and we embarrassed by what came out. A lot of money for poor service.

Excellent Food & Atmosphere, Awful/Absent Service

By Scott M |

My wife and I, along with another couple had a pre-theater dinner here recently. The weather was nice and we sat on the patio, it was lovely. The menu had something for everyone and went off he finally came it was excellent. The problem is that it took 45 minutes (and prompting from us) for salads to arrive. One of our party had to get her food to go or we would have missed our show. After we said something, the manager came and spoke to us. He said that he was unaware of any problem. That just made things worse to me. The restaurant was not very busy, I just think they lost our order. Other than this, everything else was good. I will probably give them another chance but not anytime soon.

Yummy

Loved the service and the shrimp and grits!! Nice patio terrace overlooking peachtree, no good sightseeing, but good to people watch.

Enjoyable evening.

We sat out on the patio and for us the music was well chosen and not too loud. No problems having a conversation and in early July, we got lucky with the weather. The inside was as described in other reviews, clean and small. I would have to agree with past reviews and note that the management has not addressed and or corrected the issues with training of the wait staff. One good thing that is done, is that the chef delivers the food down to the tables. I was able to ask him for recommendations, much more trusted than from the waitress who suggested steak and fries and shrimp and gritts. I'm glad I asked the chef as the pappardelle pasta dish was fabulous. To the wait staff's credit, they really did try, but just did not have either the experience or training to do their jobs adequately. One of my pet peeves is handling wine glasses by the bowl. My waitress did not know how to open a corked bottle of wine properly. Part of the reason was I believe the wine was in the early stages of going bad, possibly because it was not stored properly? This may have played into the problems of breaking the cork. The wine had an unusual sourness I was not accustomed to in Spanish reds. I sent back the first bottle and I watched the waitress re-cork it, to serve as individual glasses to other customers. The second bottle (again the Spanish Red) I accepted was the same, and I accepted it wrongly out of embarrassment and ended up drinking a slightly soured bottle of wine as I felt I was not an expert and second guessed myself. It was not as is there was someone there who knew any better than me. It is rare that I get a bad bottle, and I should have trusted my experience and sent back the second bottle and got something else. Again, my dish was excellent and I was glad I chose it. My wife got the burger and she ordered it medium. To my tastes it was over done, but I like my burgers at least medium rare. The burger tasted great and the fries were excellent. I would have to agree that the fried green tomatoes were not great for my expectations. They were cooked fine, but the tomatoes were very firm. The breading was on the hard side, but it did not break apart when cut. I did not like the dressing and to me it tasted like creamy ranch out of the bottle. I may have missed the description of the accompanying sauce, but I know it was not described or addressed by the waitress when served. I think a different or better condiment would have done justice to this dish. While not a cheap place to eat, our one meal here offered a respite from some of the other downtown restaurants that are truly expensive and can often deliver exceptionally bad experiences.

So glad to find a nice quite place for dinner

By Rich R |

I am staying near Peachtree Cener and every restaurant has loud, blaring music...I am on a working trip and just want a nice quite place to have dinner. Very low key, friendly staff...quite music...I had a steak which was large and very good... I will eat here again...they also have a full bar...it's at the Courtyard on Peachtree downtown

Delicious

By USAwalkers |

We had dinner on the patio at the Terrace Bistro. The patio is shaded, and the temperature was just right. Food was wonderful, service was good. I enjoyed the fish tacos and would like to go back!

awesome dinner

By MISProfessor |

First had appetizers and wine out in the veranda. Great service from "Nette" and then later had a nice meal indoors. The trout was awesome, great service. We also had the breakfast buffet the next morning - only $14, and they would have made us custom omelettes if we wanted.

Very average

By Exp_Biz_Traveler |

Small number of tables tucked into the corner of the ground floor of the Ellis Hotel. This is a very, very average hotel restaurant. Good and inventive-sounding menu, but the food wasn't anything to write home about. The tap list was similarly unimaginative. The appetizers were better, so I'd recommend this place for pre-functioning. Apps and a drink. But not for dinner.

Yummy!

Very enjoyable dining, with fresh ingredients and great service. Shrimp and grits were fantastic. The chicken was locally sourced on a bed of mixed greens. Easy access in downtown Atlanta.

Overpriced

By Susan J |

The servers were really nice and attentive and my peach Cosmo was amazing but the fish tacos should have been $12 not $24 and the greens with them had no dressing at all. Go for drinks but not dinner! My daughter felt her black bean tacos were worth about $10- nothing special and no dressing on her greens. Food was lackluster and overpriced.
