It was the food but much much more than that!

By Sylvana F |

The ambience is amazing. A true jewel. Such an enjoyable experience. You feel welcomed since the very first minute you arrive. The host is casual and friendly, the girl who served our table -Sofia- is the most lovely, natural, spontaneous person -and yet extremely professional and efficient- we have ever met. And gee she multitasks!!! The food was extraordinary! We will definitely come again and recommend this place to everybody who wants to explore some magic ambience, great people running the place and the most enjoyable food!

Ripped off on check, order came out wrong, snooty staff

By Sam W |

The food is fairly good, but somewhat overpriced. The server was snooty, didn't like the fact that I wanted a beer. Two of the orders at the table were incorrect and one came 10 minutes late. Overcharged on tip despite the fact that I have good handwriting. Find another place in Brooklyn.

Sophisticated and welcoming, but above all true Italian cuisine!

By Laura M |

As an Italian, I usually avoid eating in restaurants called “Italians” because unfortunately in my experiences I have noticed that they revisit recipes based on the tastes of residents not really typical. But my friends, after a week in Ny needed good homemade food and we went. I found the place very sophisticated in the furniture and lighting, there was live music that night that gave a naive touch to the evening. We finally ate some tonnarelli cheese and pepper as per the true traditional recipe and I must admit that the mushrooms and truffle dumplings were really special, never eaten so good! They recommended a red suitable for dishes and finally we took the tiramisu surprisingly delicious. The Italian owners were very welcoming and professional and the bill honest, given the very high quality of the ingredients and wine! A culinary experience you must try!

Delightful!

We had a wonderful dinner at Terre; we felt immediately welcomed. This warm and inviting place specializes in pasta and organic wines and there was plenty of both. Some excellent apps to start us off and then delicious pasta accompanied by a terrific bottle of wine. Just a great dining experience.

Unimpressed

I recognize that making a reservation for a party of 8 for a Friday night is a challenging ask for any restaurant. But some things about my experience at Terre grated on me. I reserved for our group, and we arrived on time. We were seated at the rear, directly under speakers, and it took quite some time for a server to take our drinks order. When the server came to the table, he noticed it was too loud for even him to be heard over the music, so he left to lower the volume, which took more time. He agreed to keep the volume low for the whole meal. He shared the specials, although he did not mention any prices (when the bill came, I was shocked that the balsamic vinegar tasting was **$45** — steep for any appetizer, as precious as the ingredients may be. Knowing the price beforehand would have been nice and is customary at most restaurants). When placing our drinks order, we were prepared to make a selection from the wine list, but the server insisted on bringing over two bottles to taste. Our reservation happened to fall on International Women's Day, and our party was seven women of color and one white man. The server assumed that the **white man** would be the one tasting the wine, which was pretty outrageous, since he was hardly the guest of honor or the one in charge! We corrected his assumption. When two of our diners requested to taste the two wine options brought to us, the second taster was given the stingiest of pours for tasting. Still more time elapsed before we were even able order appetizers. In that time, the music's volume returned to its loud level — the server said "other diners" wanted it loud. When our appetizers arrived, three in our party had NO cutlery and we had to wave our arms wildly for some time to get a server's attention. By the time the missing cutlery arrived, the appetizers had been eaten with fingers, unfortunately. Our pasta mains were hit or miss. The cacio e pepe was flavorful, but I ordered the tagliolino with venison that was so bland and underseasoned. Of course it took time for requested salt and pepper to reach the table. I will say, the restaurant did accommodate gluten allergies very well. In all, the meal ended up taking about 3 hours. I'm glad the restaurant was able to accommodate us at all, since a party of eight is large and unwieldy, but the experience did not inspire me to make plans to return.

Fantastic fare, great experience

Went to Terre for my wife’s birthday and we loved every bit of the experience. Having lived for several years in Europe, this was the closest thing to an actual Italian dining experience we have had in New York. Food and wine were amazing. We will be sure to return. They have vegetarian options.

Wonderful, but expensive

By Allan J |

This restaurant specializes in natural wines, all by the glass, and in pasta made on site. The setting is very informal, with tiny tables and small, uncomfortable chairs. The food and wine are superlative, though, and the service was friendly and knowledgeable. The waitress had excellent grasp of the extensive (for a small restaurant) wine list. Many of the wines are orange wines (made from white grapes fermented with stems and skins, as one would prepare a red wine from red grapes). Ours were interesting, with unusual taste and with tannins one wouldn't expect from a light wine. The pasta was the best we've ever tasted. It also was very expensive-- a bit over $25 per plate. The restaurant specializes in pasta. To order anything else would be like going to a steak house and ordering chicken as an entree. Fabulous as the food is, in the context of the neighborhood and the ambience, it is no bargain.

Delicious authentic Italian cuisine in a charming environment.

My husband and I went to this wonderful restaurant with our daughter and her husband who live in Brooklyn. It is their favorite restaurant and I can see why. You feel right at home as Daniele, the owner, greets you and takes the time to personally recommend dishes and wine. That night we ate some of the best and most interesting pasta dishes I think I have ever tasted. We shared the venison pasta, the gnochetti, the shrimp/pesto fusilli and the wild boar pappardelle. All were outstanding. You will not be disappointed - when in NYC make sure to visit here for some scrumptious Italian food.

A unicorn in the Italian food scene in NYC!

Excellent food and great service! Very authentic and of high quality. They offer special, regional menu from the Italian tradition, made with natural ingredients and curated to the minimum details. Highly recommended!

Special Place for NYE Dinner

Good service, good wine selection and delicious pasta dishes. The pesto shrimp dish was our favorite. Only complaint is that it was tight quarters and the chairs were not comfortable.

Next Michelin Star?

This place is just amazing. From the attention to details in the rustic Italian farm decor to the all fresh ingredients and handmade pasta to the 100 organic Italian wines (red, white and ORANGE!) - all served by the glass! OK, $30 for a pasta dish may sound steep but it is all worth it - I promise you have never tasted anything like this. The ambiance is just right, not too hip (for now at least) and the background music is at a volume level where you can still have a conversation without yelling across the table. One time I went there, the owners 90+ year grandmother who was visiting from Italy had prepared the special of the evening - a venison ragu with fresh pasta. I does not get more authentic than that! I have dined at many Michelin Star restaurants and this is hands down my favorite Italian restaurant.
