I worked in downtown Houston for over 10 years and never knew about this place. It took me buying a business in EADO to learn about it. I eat lunch pretty late in the day so every time I went buy to stop in it was closed. They close at 3pm. Finally one day I arrived at 2:30 and had the Turkey Stuffed Potato! It was excellent. There were so many great looking items on the menu. Next time I want to try the Greek Salad. Owner is there at all times so it's clean, well-run, and will take you back to the olden days!

We found this gem last year and every time we are in Houston we make it a point to get in for a meal! Our fav are the giant potatoes, I love getting everything along with pulled pork on mine. Making me hungry now....everything is good as well though! Last time we were there, we arrived as it was closing, but the owner waved us on in and after a bit he even sat down and chatted with us; great guy!!! It was very enjoyable! Highly recommend! As long as you know the hours though! 10am-3pm most days except they are open linger hours when special events are going on nearby. Centrally located to the ball fields etc....go try it out! Oh and they do catering too. For small to giant parties/gatherings/events.

We had not visited Texas BBQ House in many years as we felt the food had become mediocre given all of the other choices in town. However, we recently found ourselves in the near-downtown area and seeing a fair number of cars in the parking lot decided to check it out. We are happy we did, and have returned several times since. If all you wnat is good home cooking, check it out. Not trendy, no oddball items on the menu, just home style food that tastes good and fills you up.

I visited 11.May.16 It was my first bar b q in houston, and i didn't know menu. But.. Kitchen staff, waitress, owner, parking manager(?) was help for me. Food was good taste and big meat. If they see this, I just wanna say "Thank you"

Great old time burger. Huge burger, fast and friendly service. Bring an extra shirt, this baby is messy. Remember your jrart medicine, this greasy jewel will do you in...

This place is set up like a cafeteria...one direction is the BBQ and the other more traditional lunch items (pretty smart actually) The food isn't the best but its good and a good price. The employees are always friendly as well.

We were in town for a rugby game and spotted this casual bbq spot right near the Compass Stadium. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful (she could tell we were from out of town and trying to figure out the menu). This is a cafeteria style restaurant with lots of seating. The ribs were outstanding. Everyone enjoyed their late lunch, although I would avoid the fries (not warm and crispy). If you are in the neighborhood for a game at either Compass Stadium or Minute Maid park, this is a great spot to stop for some bbq.

On a recent midweek day my wife and I got a few take-away barbeque sandwiches with beans and slaw. I have been to many barbeques in my day from Chicago, St Louis, Miami, Atlanta, etc. but this place is class. Very busy lunch crowd. I believe it is right up there with the best of them. I don’t know where it ranks in Houston but it should be top 3 at least. The location is great, as it is in the EDO (East Downtown) district. It is definitely worth stopping to check out. Once you try it you would make it a regular stop. We will be back for sure. Cheers to Texas Bar-B-Que House on a very sweet lunch.

My partner and I were visiting from Australia. We had walked past this place several times and to be honest the front doesn't look like much, we decided to give the place a try and we were blown away The service is exceptional, all the staff and manager were happy to recommend items from the menu and have a chat with us The food was full of flavor and had we had bigger stomachs we would have eaten more, the brisket was amazing you must try it. The red beans were delicious also Do yourself a favour and check this place out, they're only open for lunch so get in there and enjoy yourself some delicious Texas BBQ
