We held a Rehearsal Dinner in the Legends Room in mid-October 2013. The food was great and all 50 people in attendance had nothing but good things say about the food and service. Allie helped arrange everything and she did an excellent job.

Stopped in here on our first night in Austin as it was near to our hotel and boy are we glad we did! Very quiet but staff friendly and attentive and the food was amazing! We had grilled chicken and salmon, both with a side of mashed potatoes and green beans and veg and it was amazing - simple but delicious! Would definitely eat here again as there were a couple of things on the menu we both fancied trying and if what we had is anything to go by, the other dishes would be just as amazing.

I shall start by confessing that I have an addiction. I am addicted to red meat, especially in the form of steak. On every vacation I seek out steakhouses. I have found my Mecca! I have just had the best steak ever in Texas Land & Cattle. I ordered the Texas sized Porterhouse (20oz) cooked medium well. Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly and cut it like a hot knife through butter. Meat heaven!!! Going back tomorrow! The service was excellent too. (Thanks Will)

The burgers were pretty good, but the whole meal was marred by bad service. When I order a beer, I expect a glass--not just the can. I asked twice for a can and eventually just walked to the bar and got one. Bread was tasty. Steaks just okay. Waitress disappeared for long stretches. As usual, with better service, we would've ordered more drinks.

We had an opportunity to eat here and found the service and food to be really good. The steak salads we ordered were of great portions and had a couple of cups of chili. The beer was cold and the prices were very fair. I would highly recommend going there and giving them some business. They just opened up and could use the bump.

Had a business dinner, we went without reservations and were seated promptly. The service was great, the food was good. I had the peppercorn ribeye, the cut was okay and it came out medium rare. Little disappointed in the presentation it was more about the sauce than actual peppercorn on the steak. We all had a great meal I would return. They had a great bar selection.

Hand the Texas Farm Hand steak with spinach, and fire roasted brussel sprouts. Everything tasted delicious. The service was great! Everything looked good as far as cleanliness.

We have eaten here every time we came to Austin to visit our son. There would be a group of about 8-10 of us. The service progressively got worse over the years and the food followed the service. I am not sure as to what happened but from getting our order wrong to it being served to us off temperature, it just was not good!

The appetizer is onion strings, not onion rings. And, very delicious. I recommend that if you want this appetizer, you do not need to order a second appetizer. You will not finish the onion strings. Whatever steak you order here will be great. The other adults in my group each had their favorites and enjoyed every bite. My 4 year old granddaughter had a wonderful hamburger. I had salmon, which was delicious. I recommend that you order the salmon without a sauce to get the best flavor.

What free beer? Yes - because they had their liquor license pulled for inspection they could not serve us booze, but they could (under the catering license) give us a beer or two while we ate... so yeah - free beer!!! I had the chicken fired steak and in truth i have had better - my traveling partner had steak with salad and his was good, not great... the best part was our waitress - Laura - she worked hard (they were not staffed so well) and we felt well taken care of. I would go back but i also get there maybe better options...

I have been to this restaurant previously last year. I only come to south Austin if I am meeting a friend who lives near the restaurant. My previous experience last year for lunch was great. But this experience was pretty horrible. I decided to meet my friend & also had my Grandson. I ordered my grandson the chicken strips off the kids menu, we ordered the sirloin chicken fried steak & the beef sandwich pick your choice salad or other to complete your lunch entrée. My poor grandson received his nasty chicken strips with fries with so much black pepper on the fries.. Really... this is a kids meal. I ordered the sirloin chicken fried steak & it was chicken. After 30 minutes trying to get a waitress, I asked her to check my order. I knew this was not what I ordered. She checked & sure enough it was wrong. 30minutes later I had a meal. Both meals, the cook literally unloaded the pepper on the mashed potatoes, so thick it was choking. The wait staff was almost non existent, tracked down another waitress to bring us the bread & butter & refill our drinks. Had been advised by my friend that the menu had been changed since our last meal. Should have taken a hint. I will never eat at this place again.

Service was very attentive and professional. Good food choice overall and convenient location near the hotel.

Cost for one steak meal, soda and tip was just over $25. On the positive side. The hostess at the door had a tremendous smile and greeted me on entering. The seating hostess was equally welcoming. The waiter was timely, friendly and courteous; he checked in without being intrusive. From seating to ordering to dining it was overall a pleasant experience. I had the sirloin steak but not the house smoked specialty which is smoked; smoked just doesn't appeal to me. The steak was rare as ordered and overall tasty; however, the seasoning was just shy of being too much pepper. Cracked pepper seems to be the favorite seasoning. The broccoli was warmed but still a little too crisp; it could have cooked at least a minute more - but OK. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted ok at first but as soon as I swallowed the first bite, the only taste sensation was pepper with a mild garlic undertone. Bite two more pepper. Bite three, overwhelming pepper; I did not eat any more potatoes. The waiter brought a small bread loaf with the menu; the bread was the only non-pepper experience from the food.

Like the food. Great service! Felt like I got my monies worth. Atmosphere is great. Liked all the wood and iron.

In Austin for a professional conference. The NC/SC attendees came here for dinner on a Sunday evening. They had 2 servers for our group. I'm pretty sure neither one of them had ever had a party bigger than 4 in their lives. It was obvious they were overwhelmed and in over their heads. We were there 30 minutes before our orders were even taken. Once taken, it took an hour for them to arrive. I had leftovers and had to ask 4 times for a to-go box. I must give them credit for the food - it was absolutely fabulous. Best steak I've had in a long time.

Went to dinner here even thou they had many negative ratings on this site and others. The front dest person at Carlson's Country Inn and Suites recommended it. The food was wonderful. I had the smoked dinner. It was prepared perfectly and delicious. My waitress Teresa was very attentive and helpful. Over all it was so good I called the manager over to tell him so. It sort of scared Teresa because she thought I was going to complain.

We arrived here around 6 p.m. with a party of 5 and the restaurant was only half full. The hostess told us the wait for a table would be 5-10 minutes. After about 10 minutes she seated us at a table that had been empty before we arrived. I don't know if this is some trick to make people think they are busier than they really are, but it's absurd when we can plainly see there are several empty tables. I ordered the country fried chicken that came with mashed potatoes and green beans. I also ordered Shiner in a bottle but they were apparently out, so I went with a sweet tea. The country fried chicken was delicious. The mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious. The green beans were undercooked and crunchy. The sweet tea was good. The complimentary bread loaf was tasty. The service was so so. Apparently we drew the short straw and had a new waitress. She was not very quick on the drink refills. The prices are average for a steak house. Overall, the food was great and the service/staff not so much.

This is the second time TXLC refused to honor a coupon that they themselves promoted through the Internet. Texas Land and Cattle sent a "Free Entree" coupon with the purchase of a gift card. I presented the certificate to the waiter when I ordered and made sure it was clear that it was for my entree. When the bill came the cheapest entree of the group was eliminated. I protested but the waiter said the manager said "that's the way the computer does it." That's a lot of BS! If I had come in alone I assume I would have had my entree for free. The coupon was mine in return for a purchase I made, not my neighbor who happened to be there with me. This seems to be a practice of theirs-- bait and switch. They have done it to me previously with another coupon. It is cheap, probably illegal, but they know nobody is going to go to the trouble of taking them to court. But it is shady and slimy and makes you think of all the other choices in Austin when you want a steak dinner.

Went to dinner looking for a good steak house different from the restaurant chains but I ended up here, I has some doubts based on previous experiences, well this time was different great service, good prices and very good steak. What surprised me was that the server asked me to cut my steak 1st to see if it was cooked the way I asked, and yes it was perfect and that shows me that they take care of what they do. Clean and friendly stuff . Good experience.

First and foremost, I would like to commend the impeccable cleanliness and tranquil ambiance of your restaurant. The serene atmosphere truly made for a relaxing dining experience, and I must say that your attention to cleanliness is truly commendable. However, I regret to express my disappointment with the quality of the food served, especially when considering the pricing. The prices ranging from $25 to $50 for a steak are rather steep, and unfortunately, the dishes did not quite meet my expectations in terms of taste and presentation. Additionally, the mandatory gratuity fee of 20% added to the bill regardless of the service provided was unexpected and left me feeling somewhat disheartened. As a patron who appreciates fine dining experiences, I believe it is essential to provide honest feedback to uphold the reputation of your establishment. I trust that you value customer feedback and strive for continuous improvement to ensure the utmost satisfaction of your clientele.

We had good filet mignons and I liked the steak salad. I did not want the steak burned and will know to not ask for well done but to request medium well. Bread was served slightly warm.

Great food, Great atmosphere. Easy to get to location. Prices are reasonable.

The wait staff was very friendly. The lights were turned low, almost too low to read the menu. There was absolutely no rush put on you between courses. I started with the Smoked Chicken Tortilla Soup which I enjoyed. It was a little heavier than tortilla soups I have had in the past and had a lovely smoky flavor. The Caesar salads were large and very fresh. The seared Ahi Tuna was done perfectly, and while I would have preferred a wasabi based condiment, the chipotle butter was very good. The savory Chile Verde Mashed Potatoes were very interesting. Altogether, I would put my meal at an 8 of 10. My wife ordered a 6-ounce fillet mignon and a baked potato. She said the steak was very flavorful, but not as tender as she would have liked. The loaded baked potato looked like they were running short of butter and sour cream in the kitchen. My wife gave her meal a 4 of 10. This is from a girl who owned a steak & rib house. I would go back if only to order one of the burgers that was served to the next table.

Nice wait staff and really good steak salads! My fave with a good glass of wine. That's all we needed!

We stopped in here to eat for the first time. It was 1:30pm on a Sunday and there was only one other group other that my husband and I. The other restaurants around were full parking lots, so that should have told us to stay away from this place. They don't have an expansive menu and you have to pay to change out any sides (EVEN THOUGH THE SIDES ARE THE SAME PRICE). I have never seen this at a restaurant any more and it is ridiculous. Our server was the bartender and he was nice. Our food came out wrong, but the server and the manager apologized. When we finally got it, it was not that great, just okay. The Texas Rose was yummy an was half price as Sunday after church is evidently happy hour...crazy huh!

Arrived without a reservation and were seated with no problem. This restaurant has a great menu, something for everyone.we shared a starter of Crab & Shrimp stuffed mushrooms.Delicious, and both had a steak as a main choice. The steaks both came cooked perfectly.washed down with a bottle of Texas cab sav and a cocktail to end we had a great evening.Staff are helpful and willing to wait until you ask for your next course to be served, rather than rushing it to you.I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The service was EXCELLENT but the steak, which was cooked to perfection, was below average quality. When you order filet mignon you have certain expectations. Mine were not met. My steak was tasty but very chewy. The sides were good but I would not order the sautéed mushrooms and onions again. The onions were undercooked and did not have the good flavor of the mushrooms. I'll pass this place up next time - lots of choices in Austin.

I usually like Land & Cattle but this is not one of the better examples. I will start with the positives: The waiter was friendly and provided good service. The bread was hot and fresh. Everyone liked the steak queso appetizer. Now for the negatives: The way most of the parking is situated, you walk from the back and get the pungent stench of trash and sewage combined. Not appetizing. Then, you walk in and are greeted with the smell of old restaurant carpet that has not been cleaned. Not appetizing. The rest of the meals were ok but not memorable.

You haven't lived until you have the 12 hour smoked sirloin. Melt in your mouth tender and wonderfully smokey.

Went with a group from work, had a private room. Server was fun and good, food was good too! Only downside was 2 groups came out after supper to find our vehicles had their windows smashed and laptops were stolen! One vehicle was parked in the front of the entrance the other was off to side. Just be careful nothing is visible and hopefully you'll be fine!

It has been a while since we’ve been close to a TXLC. We used to live nearby one and went there all the time. (So not this one.) But things were good here too! We really enjoy their food. The sign outside said they have new owners. For people who disliked the former owners. Give it a try again. Our food was good!

We expected good steak - and the house special of a smoked sirloin was a great pick. Very tender and lots of flavor. Enough for us to take a bit home for lunch the next day. Octavio was our server and did an EXCELLENT job! Timing was perfect and level of attention just right. Thanks

On the hotel's recommendation, I decided to get my last steak for my trip at Texas Land and Cattle. I was pleasantly surprised by the lower prices of the steaks compared to other places in the area. I ordered a 9oz filet with bearnaise and fries. The bread that came out was a delightfully HOT sourdough bread which was delicious. The steak came out cooked perfectly, nice, juicy and flavorful! It had a different sear on it then other steaks I've had, it was less "Dark" for lack of a better description, but it didn't seem to affect the taste. The fries were good, kinda wish they were matchstick, but not everyplace has them. I finished off the Bearnaise sauce with leftover bread. Yummmm.. I would highly recommend TX L&C for a good steakhouse without the fancy steakhouse price.

This establishment is under new management and working hard to bring folks back in. I had filet mignon with mashed and seasonal veggies while Mama K had wedge and steak salad. If you like "Bleu Cheese" dressing, it's a must! I give it 5 out of 5 stars. Oh, a nice mojito and Thirsty Goat amber paired well. One manager came by and checked on our service and meal--they really are trying to please customers.

Service.... Noticeably absent Food........ Not as good as previous visits. Price........ Well, the price of Gasoline has dropped, not the menu though I've eaten at several of these restaurants This one Should be closed.

The steak was hot and delicious. The restaurant was not busy on a Saturday night. That should have been our heads up. The service was slow and painful. We did enjoy the fresh bread and the food.

I so badly want to give them a higher score, but I cannot justify it. Their whole focus is steak and they have no ability to correctly cook a steak. I get an order to go maybe once every other month or so because it's convenient, really good bread and pretty good quality meat. The outside is always cooked, sometimes even burned. But the inside is either raw or overcooked. I like my steaks medium rare, every other place gets it right, they do not. With a to go order, I ask for it rare (they give it to me raw) and I go home and finish cooking it. The two seperate times I ate in the restaurant, I sent my steak back 2 and 3 times, came back wrong every time and took exceptionally long to bring out a new one in an empty restaurant. I have also received it well done when I asked for it rare, to be fair, they did refund me, but I just don't see why they can't get it right. And for $30 at a steak house, I don't think that's too much to ask.

The steaks were excellent. This is truly a Texas commodity. I enjoyed every bite. Service was great , portions were very generous and the atmosphere was charming.

It is a reasonably priced steakhouse, but even with that considered my son's medium steak was very well done, tough, and lacked salt or flavor. I'm no grill master, but he thought my home grilled steaks were much better. I had the fillet which was decent, but also seemed to have no salt or seasoning on it. Perhaps that's why A1 and Heinz 57 are offered before you try the steak. Loaded potato and wedge salad were good, but at nearly $30 for my steak I hope for a bit more. Service was a reasonable, but not amazing - didn't return to check on the streaks for a while. The smoked sirloin was pretty good, tasting like an extra tender brisket. If was an option I'd give 2.5 stars, but it's not so I'm going with 2.

Have been to this restaurant many times in the past and found the food very good. The last two visits however were terrible. One visit I ordered broiled trout. It was dry and overcooked. I thought it was an isolated incident. The next time we ordered the steak salad and a ribeye. The meat came to us so undercooked it was nauseating. I had ordered mine medium. The waitress was sweet and indicated she thought it was too rare before she brought it to our table. The knives were dull and the meat was tough and gristly. The waitress brought us a new knife but it was not much better. The baked potato was humungus and undercooked. The salad was old. Even the bread was not very good and very hard to cut with those dull knives. The lighting in the restaurant is very dim, I like to see what I am eating. And what is it with those rootbeer barrels they have at the door now instead of the traditional mints I wonder if this restaurant is under new management. Someone from another land? Bottom line is, we will not return to this restaurant.

My husband and I enjoyed wine and dinner at the bar on a stop-over in Austin. It's in a great location off of the interstate, and was close to our hotel. Our bartender was attentive and the food was good! We would stop at this chain again next time we're in Texas.

I had a very good steak and wedge salad combo. everyone at our table enjoyed their steaks. they were all cooked perfectly. they had baked sweet potatoes, too, which are always a nice alternative to regular baked potatoes. the kids enjoyed their mac n cheese and grilled cheese - followed by kids' sundaes, which were a hit! our waitress was exceptional and very friendly.

My experience here was far below that of others in Austin and elsewhere. Management refused to honor their own discount certificate; the main course came out just minutes after the salad; the steak, ordered medium-rare, was raw; I ordered a Cajun rib eye and it came out without seasoning. In short, nobody is minding this store. The assistant manager offered to "make it right" but once the tempo of the meal is broken (my wife was already done with her steak by the time he came by) it was hard too see what he could do. This place needs to learn something about customer service, and watching the kitchen. If they send you a $5-off certificate, they should honor it. And they shouldn't embarrass or try to humiliate you in front of your guests. They should time the service so you can enjoy your courses, especially when many tables were empty and there were no people waiting to be seated. If I just wanted food I would have ordered take-out. What I wanted was an experience. That they did not provide.

went there company party large group the service was excellent especially the manager mr Charlie Monlinar attended to the whole group excellently our waitress Meagan was also great attended to us without asking along with other wait persons food was mouth watering rib eye wife had the salmon and shrimp also great atmosphere also excellent had kids with us and they where even attended as an adult have always loved the food as of yet no issues mr Monliner made sure all was satisfactory as it was will return to this location always recommend very highly

Average steak house. Looking for a good steak while in texas. This was not amazing, but good. Several of us ordered the house smoked steak. We all liked it. Lil pricey for what it was, but overall a good place for a decent meal.

Atmosphere is dark but not unfriendly and nice after the 100F day. The steak was OK -not the freshest I have ever had but expected for the price and it was seasoned decently and cooked fairly well. The service was friendly and helpful. It is a chain restaurant so all in all not a bad outing.

We were headed home to Arkansas from San Antonio and stopped here. I have never eaten at a Texas Land & Cattle Steak House (Chain). I want to go back. The food was great, came at one time, and was hot. There was more than I could eat, and that means a box for the road!

Its about what you'd expect from a steakhouse. Worth the money though.

A nice medium priced steakhouse that has very tasty food and well range of choices. Unfortunately, the service was poor. Server was so busy chatting with the people at the table next to mine throughout my meal, I felt like an afterthought. At the end of the meal, I finally had to turn around and look at her to get her to come and take my payment. It was obvious that other tables in the area received the same treatment as I had. I will not return to this chain.

Rib-eye steak was about quarter inch thin; can't say "thick" because it wasn't. Bread was great, salads were great, and waitress was friendly and efficient. Nice atmosphere, but I expected a better steak. We chose it because it was across the Interstate from our hotel.

This is located in the parking lot of Lowes and the Fiesta Market. The front door is in the front, but all of the parking is at the back. It feels isolated, and rather dreary and unsafe. I tried to place an order for pick up, but calling them, and being put on hold was a real hassle. I started driving and arrived so I hung up. I ate in. I ordered the smoked sirloin. It came with a salad, and the cucumbers on top were clearly frozen. Slightly translucent, made me sad. The Blue Cheese dressing was thin, but full of blue cheese. The roast was VERY rare, but delicious and smoky. I mean, that might get me back there. It really was good, although the outside was so crusted with salt that you have to trim that part off. The loaded baked potato looked like it had been hanging around for a while. Service was pleasant, but due to a large party being seated at the same time as I was, a bit slow and distracted. I'm on the fence, I really enjoyed the meat, and the prices aren't bad ($17.99 for my meal,) but it was such a lack-luster experience.

My husband and I had dinner at Texas Land and Cattle on a Wednesday night. We both ordered the Famous House Smoked Sirloin (9 oz. $16.99 each). The steak came with a salad and garlic potatoes. I ordered the spice Caesar salad and my husband order the regular side salad. Both were good. We ordered strawberry cheese cake for desert ($2.49). Oh, my gosh, it was all so very tasty. The service and atmosphere was great. We will be back for sure.

Went with family there for Sunday lunch ( north Austin location ). Great dishes and healthy portions and fantastic taste. Little confusing service, the beer order didn't show up like expected. Other than that really good.

EXCELLENT steaks! Great customer service! Loved our waitress. Had great charm and seemed to enjoy our visit as much as we did. Everyone was pleasant and professional. Food was great!

I ventured down to this steakhouse because it was much more affordable than the places near my downtown hotel. It is a standard steakhouse and reasonably priced (think similar to a Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse). My main complaint was the lack of side options. Each steak comes with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. I asked to swap my mash for sweet potato but was told it was $6 extra! I would have much preferred to have an option to pick two sides rather than paying that much extra.

The stuffed mushrooms were great. Chicken fried steak and ribeye were wonderful!! Oscar was our server and he was professional and timely. Had a great experience.

Had great steaks, cooked to perfection , great service. Server was excellent, put some real personality in to it and knowledgeable about the menu and wine. First time visitors and will return when back in Austin.

I drove around looking for a place to have Thanksgiving Dinner , but places were very crowded. I stopped by Tx land and cattle. They offered a Turkey Dinner $25.99.. I should have got up and walked out. The Turkey was just thick pieces of lunch meat turkey. So I FEEL VERY CHEATED...I will not be going there again.

I have been here twice. Both times, no one is at the hostess desk. Both times, the bartender has to run from behind the bar and provide that service. Tommy (the bartender) is great. But...the tables and floor on both visits were not clean. The drinks, ( again the bartender) were great. The guacamole appetizer is very good. The fried, brisket filled jalapenos, were room temp on the outside and cool/uncooked on the inside. Go for the drinks, don't waste you time on the other...

Very cheap fatty, gristly cuts of meats used. Very untrained waitstaff. The prices are far too high for the quality of the meal. Drink prices are not listed on the menu and my iced tea was $4! Only knew this when the check arrived. I really suggest you avoid this place.

We arrived here at 8.45pm and were quickly shown to our table in this dark and poorly decorated restaurant. Our order was taken and drinks appeared rapidly (though no water - when I asked for this one glass was given and I had to ask for another as there were two at this table). The food was just about okay. The sirloin steak was rather chewy and overdone with pepper, the fries were soggy and limp. Halfway through our main course the bill arrived and the waiting staff started cleaning the tables around us and sweeping the floor, our waitress had a little tourch to check for any goods or money which may have fallen onto the floor. Clearly, we had outstayed our 'welcome'. The restaurant stayed open till 10pm but we were out by 9.20pm. Altogether, it was unsatisfactory and certainly the worst meal of our two week vacation in USA. My only regret was leaving any sort of tip for a waitress who had better things to do than serve customers!

This restaurant was recommended by the desk clerk at the motel we stayed at. Even though it was fairly late in the evening the place was packed with what appeared to be noisy, happy diners. My S-O and I both had the Smoked Sirloin special. She had the smaller size, I the larger. We both loved the entree! It was tender, the flavor was absolutely delicious. The fully loaded baked spud was a bit dried out. The salad was nothing exceptional, but was a nice size. The bread they served was terrific . Service was great. The decor fit the fact that it was a Texas steak house. Even the burning fireplace (on a hot night) didn't seem out of place. We left happy diners. We were hoping to have another meal here before leaving the Lone Star State, but ran short of time.

Was in Texas for the F1 race and the hotel staff suggested this restaurant as a good place close by our hotel. The steaks my brothers ordered were very good however my fish(salmon) was so dry it needed sauce to make it palatable.

Three of us ate at the bar as the table wait w/o reservations was 20 min. The bartenter was a bit harried but took good care of us and the steaks and sides where excellent. Cooked as asked and juicy. The wine list is very good and the price per person for dinner was around $36 - not bad at all. We enjoyed the food and plan on coming back tomorrow night! The salads where fresh, chilled and great dressings. Plenty of parking and easy to find right next store to the Embassy Suites Central.

We were flying out in the morning and my friend recommended this place. Brianna was our waitress and she was very good. It is good to see that some restaurants still value training. We both got the smoked sirloin which is slow smoked and never touches a grill. It was good but a little chewy. They have a wide variety of menu options to choose from and a full bar. Try some of the special margaritas for a real treat.

Restaurant was a bit dark, but the food was great. Nice juicy steaks cooked to order. Menu prices were on the high side, so this place might be best saved for a special occasion.

Very Good Steaks and great atmosphere. Not too expensive and worth a little wait.

Ambience was nice. Reminded me of Texas roadhouse. Staffs there were nice and attentive. However the sirloin steak was a tad over cooked. The drink selections were good. Nothing special.

Ate there 4 nights in 11 days, enjoyed every meal. They had endless ribs on Tuesdays and their smoked sirloin is to die for and not too pricey.

I was here with some colleagues and we all had something different. All the food was very good. I had the rib eye steak and I could not fault. IT was good value for money and I would certainly return again.

Went on a busy night during f1 weekend but wait wasn't that long and food was amazing. Would go again! Great wait staff, Shaun was attentive and helpful.

Good menu selections. Food and service is very good. Love the wedge salad. Spinach dip appetizer is wonderful.

Steak was cooked to perfection! Appetizers and sides were equally yummy. We were too full to eat dessert. The only complaint was that the restaurant temperature was really hot and stuffy, but when we mentioned this to our server, she took care of it immediately. We have eaten here before, and we were glad we chose to return!

The service was pretty good but they didn't tell us that they had no baked potatoes until they brought out our steaks. Salad was very good, steak was excellent, but then had to wait on mashed potatoes and fries, which were not all that good. Should have came out and told us right away that baked potatoes were not available. Otherwise a decent meal.

After arriving at our hotel; we decided to go to this restaurant because and got an Uber. I had the thirsty goat (drt) and the strawberry punch (delicious). I enjoyed the chopped steak and our waiter was great and really made our night.

Must have been an off night here when we ate there. Food was very average and a bit over priced. 1 person had steak the other a ground chuck burger with beef bbq on top of it. They said it was very unusual tasting and not worth the money. The stake was a bit above average. Service was good, staff friendly

The fillet was top notch, right up there with the best. The crab and avocado salad was excellent, and try the lettuce wedge to start, all good. The ribs were average to poor, definitely not fall off the bone and a little heavy on the cinnamon in the rub to our taste. The cheesecake for desert was also good.

In town for a reunion with friends and needed a place where a group could have a lot of choices. The food was okay but nothing memorable. I think the steaks were kinda pricey. The restaurant provided a good atmosphere for a group get together, however.

I've visited 2-3 times and highly recommend Texas Land and Cattle. A great place for steaks, grills and burgers. You can find their menus on-line. Service always friendly, food always good. You're guaranteed not to leave here hungry! Not recommended for vegetarians!! More fun in groups.

This was first visit to Texas Land & cattle Steak house. Noticed that they are famous for their smoked sirloin, so thought we would give it a try. Was so so, not quite what I was expecting. My wife didn't like it all all after even trying it with A1 steak sauce. The waitress did ask if she wanted something else, but she said no. Were nice enough to remove it from the bill. I finished mine, but would not order it again. Other than that, a nice atmosphere, with a a varied menu.

Had dinner there tonight with my two children and a friend. Seemed to be a really popular restaurant as it was very full. This did not delay service to our table at all. Our waitress Ashley was really attentive and friendly and the food arrived quite quickly. The children both demolished their cheese burgers and I really enjoyed my fillet mignon - it was juicy and tender, just they way I like it. I think for the quality of the food, the prices were justified. If you want a really nice steak I would recommend giving this restaurant a go.

This places caters to steak lovers first and foremost. It has a wide range of cuts. Its not an inexpensive restaurant, so plan accordingly. There are good wines to accompany the steaks.

This review is for the Lakeline location only. Fifteen years ago, TXLC used to be a great place to go for good steak, great sourdough bread, spicy caesar salad, and a carafe of iced tea. They used to have a service checklist for the staff: greet in 2 min, drinks in 4, etc. As the years have passed, the carafes disappeared, the cooks have not learned how to cook a medium steak (pink throughout) but choose to just cook everything well done, and they tried to fix the one thing that wasn't broken: the menu. I don't need your chimichurri sauce or toppings. They used to be offended if a customer asked for A1 or Worstershire or anything to mask the flavor; now they REQUIRE you to choose a masking ingredient when you order. All we wanted was a nice steak dinner, a wedding anniversary meal. It was 11:30am, only three tables seated. SURELY one would think service would be good when no one was in the weeds, no kitchen was backed up. And since staff arrives at 10am for sidework, there is no excuse to not be READY to GO at 11:30am. So we sat. And sat. Five minutes passed. We saw a young girl with a tray deliver food. Still, we sat. Yes, there was other staff. Did they address us? No. Were they busy? No. Did they care? No. Finally, she came by, could not muster a smile, seemed miserable, and got her contagious misery all over our table. No apologies like "sorry about the wait," just a deadpan "what can I get you?" as though we had the nerve to want anything. I thought about the $50 we were about to drop, about the $8 tip we would have left, and about how even if it weren't our anniversary, I should not have to be treated like this. So I told her my hub and I needed to discuss first, which we did, and then we got up and left. I got the manager and explained to her that all we wanted was to feel welcome, to get a smile and a how are you, and that our server made us feel as though we were a burden to her. Yes, it was inconvenient, yes, it ruined the moment, but hopefully that server leaned how to give better service. Service has been going to heck over the last decade, and TXLC is living proof.

We stopped at this restaurant during our visit to Texas. We ordered crab cakes (they were ok, not bad), smoked onion rings (nothing special) for appetizers. I ordered a steakburger with cheese and my fiance ordered a smoked sirloin cheesesteak. They were both pretty good! The meat was very juicy and the ingredients were fresh. We visited around 1pm and the restaurant was nearly empty. Our waitress was nice and there was an overall southern style.

There on Monday Night the waitress was very good and checked on us often, the food was good I would recommend their brisket tacos different but very good

The spinach dip was very tasty, the bread was served nice and warm. I had a sirloin steak, and my wife had the petite steak. Mine was very tasty, but kind of tough to chew. My wife was very happy with her dish. Plates were reasonably priced, not overly expensive, and they brought them out hot. However our waitress was matter of fact, and not too engaging. It seemed like they tried to hurry us.

I stopped here while in town for business, had the sirloin cap steak for the first time, and really dug it. My healthy side forced me to start cutting the fat off when I first started eating, but I realized that it was the highlight of the meal with cracked pepper on top of it, and man did it melt in my mouth. Two thumbs up! Friendly wait staff as well.

I have never had ribs that were this tough too eat. The creamed corn was delish but the spinach was not cooked to my likeness. I will only come back for appetizers or with friends.

I tried this Steakhouse as I was in Austin for a work assignment. The decor is very much as you would expect from a steakhouse. The menu was varied and did have a lot of items other than steak available. I was interested in a steak though so I ordered the boneless ribeye. The salad I orded was a lettuce wedge with blue cheese. The salad was just okay, nothing special, the steak was one of the thinnest pieces of steak I have encountered in my travels, yet the price was higher than most steakhouses for the same piece of meat. It was cooked to my liking, but the taste was not all that great and there was much more fat than expected. The loaded baked potato was over-baked and the topping very light, just a dab basically of everything. I would not recommend this place for anyone that likes a good steak!

Good American hearty food. Relaxed casual atmosphere, good service & good cocktails. Very reasonable prices.

We had a very nice dinner. NY Strip and ribeye steaks were perfectly cooked and delicious. Service was good, excellent to start but sort of fell off after meal arrived. Maybe was understaffed when we visited. Would recommend this restaurant for a very good meal.

We had a business lunch for a large group (over 15) and they had the large room ready for us (reservations had been made.) The young man who was our waiter was skilled and pleasant. I was torn between ordering a BBQ sandwich and their southwest chicken salad. I did the BBQ sandwich. When others got their side salads for their steak meals I realized I really wanted a salad so the waiter quickly got a side salad for me and it was delicious. Nothing fancy but fresh. The sandwich was good but nothing special. The fries were good and generous. Always more than you need. They brought small breads and butter before main food came out which I enjoyed. The check was handled as one. We found that they do not add the typical 18% automatic large group gratuity to the check which I thought was nice. This place was a bit of a struggle to get to with its location near an interchange but we figured it out the second loop around.

Well it's a steak house. Ordered the salmon and it was over cooked and dry. The worst I have ever had. Someone needs help cooking fish. The aspergrass was over cooked as well. Baked potatoe was good. Service at the bar excellent from Cassandra. Now have been here before so it is hit and miss. GO FISH...

We, myself, wife, and 3 and 6 year old kids, have eaten here 8 to 10 times and it is our favorite restaurant in Austin. And that is saying a lot cause there is lots of competition but their food is always top notch, tasty, with very good service. I usually get the bacon wrapped sirloin, medium with salad, (lime vinaigrette dressing awesome!) and sweet potato with cinnamon butter. The kids eat off the very adequate children's menu/play sheet. If there is a flaw, it would be the speed of server to the table on initial sitting but I am sort of picky about that. Otherwise the service is almost always flawless and any problems have been very quickly taken care of by server and or management. I highly recommend TXLC as it is known. We don't drink alcohol but the bar looks nice and seems well stocked. We will be back often.

Service was quick and reliable. Good menu and fair prices. It is a good location, but getting into and out of the restaurant can be a bit confusing if you don't know Austin.

My husband and I had lunch at Texas Land and Cattle on a Wednesday. We both ordered chicken breast ($15.99). Although we liked the chicken, the steaks we ordered in the past were tastier. The chicken came with mashed potatoes and veggies. Our food was tasty but it was not as hot as it should have been. The service was below average. We visited on a cold fall day and the restaurant was extremely cold inside as well. We will not be back anytime soon because of the service and restaurant temperature.

The staff is fun and friendly. The meat is not high in quality, but it is prepared properly. A good experience if one's steak standards are not too high. For the quality of beef served, and the fact that the beef is not grassfed and finished, the prices are a bit high.

They had me at the whipped butter but the rest of my meal was very enjoyable. I had the ribeye with the corn and salad. The ribeye was seasoned very well and cooked to perfection. My server was very helpful.

No negative items to mention here. From the food to the bread to the staff, its all good. I am a regular customer of Texas Land and Cattle Steak House and have never had a bad experience.

Just another great example of seriously good smoked Texas genius. They tend to rotate the wood they smoke with based on chefs preference whether it's mesquite or oak. But hey it's Texas and you can't go wrong with either. For me the interior could be nicer, it's showing its age and a little dark in there. But don't be fooled. It's well worth a visit. There are several locations so pick any one of them. Huge serving of meat. Great smoke ring on the brisket and literally pulls apart easily with a nod melts in your mouth. I could have easily made two meals from my plate...oh I did. Next day had leftovers and tasted even better!

We came in and sat at the bar while waiting for our food. The hostess came to get us when our table was ready and was quite rude. She did not seat us until our bar tab was payed (I can understand wanting to get paid but we were getting a table, it's not like she couldn't find us) The waiter was quite accommodating though. The steaks were good but not worth the money spent.

Everything came just as ordered, and was just as presented on their menu. My burger was cooked to perfection.

With all the steakhouses around the area, this one is not one of my favorites. Overcrowded during dinner and poor service just adds to the aggravation of just average steaks. Had their 9oz Peppercorn Ribeye for $19.99 and another steak with Cajun seasoning. Both were too fatty and had to trim excessively to get to the good parts. The queso was watery and not tasty at all (try Torchy's instead). The Cheesecake was good as were the grilled shrimp at $6.99. Our server was defensive and forgetful. The place was overcrowded and struggling to provide good service. Will pass on this one next time.

Restaurant was very busy but service was quick and meal was great. Great sweet potato fries - finally a place that doesn't pour sugar or sweet stuff allover them!

I love an upscale steak house, but it is rare to dine at a mid level spot and have a solid experience. These guys are "johhny on the spot" with service, cleanliness and nicely prepared dishes. Nice 'go to" spot for business lunches.

Texas Land & Cattle is Austin is always very good, rarely excellent but never poor. We particularly liked the Jalapeno Pork Chops, but they have dropped this from their menu. That's too bad since it was a menu item that was unique to them and set them apart from and above the other chain steakhouses.

Although its title implies steakhouse it is more like a Pub-style restaurant with good bar, varied menu and Pub-style food platters. Decent wine list. Plenty of parking and has take-out. Prices are reasonable.

Atmosphere was interesting and food was very good with a wide variety of choice on the menu. Need reservations as it is crowded.

TL&C just started a re-branding campaign this month. A new smaller menu with an emphasis on Texas items - steaks, wines, beer, etc. Our server said they are moving away from a "chain" atmosphere. This is phase one where they will try out new menu items for customer feedback. Sounds good in theory - unfortunately some of my old favorites are gone. Steak soup, the carafe of ice tea on the table, and the petite steak. The food was ok (not great) and we waited over an hour for our food with no drink refills (or extra bread). I expected more from one of my favorite restaurants.

We would eat there again. Try the smoked sirloin.... it was amazing.

We had the House Sirloin and it was great! The atmosphere was on the noisy side but that says the folks were enjoying themselves too. All is all, a very good expereince that we can recommend to you.

The restaurant was clean and the food was very good however the server did not do a good job of listening I ordered a sweet tea with no lemon and every glass she gave me had lemons in it. At one point she took my glass and I had to wait about 15 minutes for a refill. I actually had to ask her for a new one

Excellent food and outstanding customer service. The overall experience was exceptional. We will definitely continue eating here during our next visit. Food is always fantastic.

Fast service, we called ahead for seating on a Saturday night at 7 PM and did not have a wait when we arrived. Generous portions and well prepared. I was impressed by the Wedge with steak salad my daughter ordered.

On entering the restaurant it felt freezing cold with the fierce air con. We asked for a table away for the vents. They obliged but it didnt really improve things. We asked several times for the air con to be made slighty warmer but to no avail. The air con settings were clearly set for the staff and not the customers. It really felt like we were ignored as customers and certainly unappreciated. The food, however, was good but our enjoyment was severey affected by the room temperature. We wouldnt dine there again.

Business dinner - I ordered the steak & shrimp combo with the garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. Very good. Excellent Service!

Our family was in town for a wedding, tried this for a Saturday lunch. Menu is large and varied, you can't go wrong. I wasnt very hungry so i had the Ranch House Steak Soup, very tasty. Wife tried the Chicken Cobb Salad, lots of chicken. Son had a Steak Burger, daughter the Smoked Chicken Tacos. Everybody happy. Waitress Megan tried hard, but was a little spread thin that day. All good.

I work outside the country and don’t get back to Austin as much as I’d like to but when I do I like to hit the old favorites. TL&C was one of those. There was hardly anyone in the place at 7:00pm and the a/c was high. When a customer requested if they could turn it down because she didn’t like to eat cold the bartender said he liked it cold. They’ve fine from the bread loaf to heated buns. Ordered the Bone-in Rib Eye and the grill was too hot as it was charred on the outside and Ed in the middle. When I got my bill I was informed a 20% tip was included. I asked when automatic tips started and was told their having problems with their system and that was the ‘only way they could do it’. No heads up beforehand and no explanation as to what ‘it’ is other than to demand that they get tipped regardless of the service. The arrogance and greed of this was shocking. Hope it was worth losing a customer over.

Great food, fairly reasonable prices and wonderful atmosphere. We actually ate at the TLC in Lake Line Mall off Rt 620 and 183. The comments apply to all the TLC steak houses in Texas as we have been to several. Service was superb. Server attentive and very personable. We have never had a bad or even so-so meal here. Altho they are across town from us, we come every chance we get.

We had a group of 12 coworkers to dinner at Texas Land and Cattle last night. Our service was good but our steaks were only so so. Texas Land and Cattle isn't high end/price so I'm not expecting excellent but I ordered a medium well strip that came out medium and was still quite chewy, I prefer my steak more well done but I knew it was be really tough with more cooking time but it was well seasoned. My boss had a cajun ribeye and was disappointed with his steak as well.

Wow!!! Our first time here and will definetly be back!! The food was awesome and our server, Tom was outstanding!!!

This place makes a good steak even though it is a chain restaurant. Appetizers are not that memorable but steak is really good. I would come back.

In a group of 10 on Saturday night. Server was great, service was great and food was great. Great decor inside and multiple fireplaces to warm you up.

WE recently visited here in South Austin for lunch with an awesome gift card from my daughter at Christmas, Thanks. The service was awesome and sample of hickory smoked Angus steak was a first. We loved the steak. The young lady who served us was so enjoyable and a great server which is a good reason for us to visit a closer location in North Austin. Noise level was a little loud-even at noon so we really wondered about evening or happy hours!

amazing food and service. wait staff was knowledgeable and food was cooked to perfection. The bread pudding was a don't miss item.

As always my steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned! My husband was disappointed that they discontinued the chili but the steak soup was delicious. If you are still have room, they offer several desserts - big enough to share.

Passing through Austin? Visiting for a while? Heading out for a date? Yes, there are lots of steak houses in Texas, almost too many to choose from. This chain restaurant, only a few yards off Interstate 35 in south Austin has been consistently very good the last 3 visits. (They fall short of excellent due to noise level in the dining room and the service lags sometimes.) However, the food is almost perfect every time. The 20 oz. porterhouse steak is plenty for two, especially considering the generous portions of sides. (Try the green beans.) The salads are fresh and tasty. We are so full when we leave that we have never tried the desserts. There is a good selection of beer and wine and a full bar with skilled staff. A very, very good place for a tasty Texas-style lunch while on the road or a huge celebration meal. There are a few TV sets running sports, but thankfully, the sound is down. The focus here is excellent steak. When someone says, "Can I take you to dinner?", tell them "Texas Land & Cattle!"

Had dinner there tonight. Mixed about it. It’s been a few years since we have been but we were feeling like a steak. Always had a good experience before. The food was good and prices remain a good deal for the quality. But... the menu changed a lot. Way fewer choices overall and specifically, entrees are now set with sides you get. Instead of picking your salad/soup and side, you get what they list with the entree unless you pay extra. The delicious sour dough bread is gone, replaced with rolls that are okay. Silverware was a mismatched mess and paper napkins replaced the cloth. There was no plating in the food. Looked like I would serve it. Location felt worn and dated. So though the food was good, the ambiance was seriously lacking. Dining out for us is about the experience as much as the food. This wasn’t that.

Perfect setting, wonderful appetizers, excellent steak - cold beer and wine. This location is downtown, in a small strip-mall BUT if you plan to go eat here and it is after 7pm on a week night, when UT is not in session and the TX State legislature is also not in session, CAll them and tell them you are coming! Our group of 9 stunned the staff who was planning (we think) to go home early. Dont you hate it when they start to sweep while you are finishing coffee and desserts...?

This was one of the recommendations of the front desk clerk at the Candlewood Suites which was very close to our place of stay. She was not wrong !!Service was excellent, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food !!

Fine meal I had. Steak was great not too expensive. Good service in a not too crowded restaurant. Quiet place on a Saturdays night

Felt like a nicer Texas Roadhouse. We sat a large party after work and glad they could accommodate on a Thursday night. Server was quick to take our drinks and apps. Apps came out hot and good sizes for us to split. Everyone had something different for meals but the common side was mashed potatoes. They must do them well. Good meal. Prices were kind. Not a bad place to go and would return.

Nice atmosphere, typical roadhouse steak place décor. Server was great, but not well informed. I ordered the best rib eye they supposedly had.. cost 25.00, medium rare. it was so tough I asked for a chain saw to cut it. My friend tried to cut it also.No go. I was too tired to send it back, took it to go and tried microwave on it , no go . My friends prime rib was real good. Live and learn. The loaded baked potato was very good, as were the drink prices and service.

Been in Austin for a week for business and most of our meals have been great. However the Texas Land and Cattle Company was disappointing: - Upon entry lots of empty tables but the host wasn’t sure he had a waiter ready so said we might have to wait, but then found out the waiter was ready so seated quickly, but felt disorganized - Appetizers- we ordered the choose 3 appetizer, and the first issue was that two of our items came first and the sweet potato fries much later. The sweet potato fries were good - The chicken tenders had no dipping sauce with them and the breading was very bland - The spinach dip was terrible. The three of us who tried it all agreed it was the worst spinach dip we had ever eaten. - I got the Country fried steak was not good. Again the breading was bland. The mashed potatoes had too much garlic and the seasonal vegetables were over cooked. Our server was attentive and pleasant. The restaurant was not crowded and had a nice atmosphere. I’m hoping we just went in a bad night food wise.

If you have not been to TX L&C in a while be prepared for changes which are not improvements. The menu has totally changed with fewer options now offered. A few "old favorites" are still offered, but at higher prices. The variety of items in the menu is limited and offers lesser values than before. Their plates, glasses and portion sizes are all smaller, but more costly.. On the plus side, what we ordered still had great taste.

Being from New England I wanted to go to a real Texas steakhouse. I think I found it here. My sister and I stopped by prior to going to see a show on 6th street. The waitress seated us right across from the fireplace and everything was terrific. We got everything from soup to nuts and everything was up to our expectations. The gentleman that was our server was extremely helpful with everything from menu selection to the best root to 6thStreet.

I found too much pepper on my salad and meat. For a cowboy steak house it is tipical of a chain. It is O.k. if that is what you like.

Was taken here for a birthday dinner. Amazingly good steaks. We had a good waiter who took the drink and food order and got them all correct. The steaks vary in size and they are well cooked for the order desired and tasty. Good attentive service. Also full bar service. Good for friends, family and intimate dining. Good for kids,

My girlfriend and I went here for a nice dinner. We were initially stuck in a corner next to a large banquet room that was extremely busy and loud. We were then moved to another location that was acceptable. The ambiance is poor if you want something romantic. Its very loud and don't get the tables next to the restroom. Its just a door that opens straight up into the toilet area. There is no transition room in the bathroom. Gross! We each got a steak. It was a big disappointment. For a $35 steak, it shouldn't come out tough. It was not cooked to my liking either. Overall, for $100 meal, I expect much much better. Frankly, you could get a better steak at Applebees Dont go!

located close to my hotel - had a business lunch here. Good food and service. I was surprised at how good the new sliders are on the menu. The lunch portion comes with a side - very impressed and I would order again

We went there, a group of 5, and we head one of the best meals ever. Their steaks are made exactly as a steak should be, they are made on the spot and from a fresh meat and the service was very good. Thank you for very good evening.
Exceptional Steaks, Fantastic Staff
I’ve lived in Austin for 15 years and tried just about every steakhouse in the city. No other steakhouse stacks up to ACL. They know how to source top quality beef and know how to prepare it (don’t mess with it too much! Age it right and grill it right!) The atmosphere is perfect for a date night. I love how the waiters are knowledgeable but they don’t spend 5 minutes explaining the menu or specials. You want a wine rec? They got you. Questions about a cut? No problem. Other than that, they let you enjoy your meal in peace. I love this place and ALWAYS look forward to our next visit.
