Excellent Steak

By Pam Alan T |

Visited this casual style restaurant on Saturday at 6pm - the place was absolutely heaving and we had to wait over 30 minutes for a table. We filled in the time by drinking ice cold beer and eating free peanuts and, as per local custom, threw the shells on the floor. When we got seated we were attended to by Jack who was very friendly and efficient. Our steaks were well worth the wait - large, juicy and cooked exactly to our preferences. Definitely worth a visit by anyone visiting Austin.

best chicken fried steak...

By Holy D |

best chicken fried steak in Austin. Plus Willy Nelson owns it.

Great fried pickles

By Captainnano |

The grandkids go crazy for the fried pickles. The steaks are great and it has a wonderful family atmosphere. Yes maybe noisy but you know everybody is enjoying their food

Good steaks, great atmosphere

By Honky_Richard |

If you do not like Willy Nelson or football, stop here. The place is a (small) franchise owned by Willy (his picture is everywhere) with 12 gazillion screen showing football. The place was absolutely packed on a Friday night, but the wait was actually OK. And worth it. Good steaks!

Great steaks at great price

By BrakiWorldTraveler |

Just when checked in at our Buda hotel we were heading to Austin. Being hungry we googled steakhouses around, and this one appeared very close to us with good reviews. We came just after noon and it was almost packed (huge shopping center is adjacent to it) but managed to find a place immediately. Shortly after that there was a waiting line. The staff was very kind suggesting us what to order. We took 3 different to share - a sirloin, prime rib and best of all - the Dallas fillet. All were cooked right according to our orders. Prices are lower than in similar restaurants.

Outstanding service and good food at very affordable prices.

By Lorenzo E |

Even though it is a very busy place, the service was outstanding. The only negative comment is that it can be a bit noisy. Maybe because the music is already loud, people try to speak and be heard above that noise.

For a chain it's really good.

Consistently Great

By RudeboyRobbo |

I’m strictly here for the ribeye and baked potato. There’s always lots of flaky salt on the ‘tater skin so maybe keep that away from your juicy steak so it doesn’t get over salted. Also a fan of the cactus flower (bloomin’ onion) and biscuits. Decent bar too.

Love this Roadhouse

By JCS |

I love this Roadhouse, it's my favorite. We live in Houston but come to this one a lot as we have a place in hill country that we visit often. Great service and food is always good. My kids always want to go here.

Worst restaurant nightmare !

By TRaphel |

Came in to dine with 5 people. Saw they were closing early for “corporate training” we said we’d go somewhere else they said no you have plenty of time. We were seated and immediately were being rushed. I ordered a beer “were out of that” ordered wine instead. The salads came then the closing lights came on at full blast while the employees were putting up chairs all around us. Asked for Tobasco and some guy handed it to us with no plastic cap on it so half the bottle rushed out ru8ning the salad. I tried to order a 6oz filet ,were out, then a 9 oz filet, were out, finally a ribeye that was over cooked and paper thin arrived ..... the table was full of salad plates. Never picked up. Halloween decorations and party food being put on tables while employees showing up in costumes .... training session or Halloween party ? Went to the ladies room and found a male employee moping the floor with soapy water all over the floor and he sai “come on t ...it’s ok” seriously ? Let’s play slip and fall while I got to the restroom with a man it it cleaning ! I tried to quietly talk to a manager and did and told her not to go to the table. She ignored that request and sent another manager over to the table who came with an attitude. After recounting our nightmare of a visit she left rolling her eyes and under her breath she. Allied me a F.... B.... . They did take off one steak but I wished I’d never had gone there. I decided a tip was not earned so I didn’t leave one. I later found out that they illegally put a $69 tip on themselves for aggravation from us !!!! How illegal is that ! Needless to say you truly could not even pay me to ever step one foot into Texas Roadhouse ! Do not waste your money !

A nice surprise

By FoodfanUSA |

We generally avoid chains favoring local businesses but thought we would give this place a try. Nice to see friendly and attentive service coupled with good variety in the menu and high quality food at good prices. Far better service than many places in nearby South Park Meadows. Worth a repeat visit for sure.

Wonderful Steak and sides

By 62Vetteman |

ordered food to go, great service and location was booming but in order. Ordered four steaks and three loaded sweet potato's, just wonderful. Had a side of shrimp and just excellent. Service was fast, food was hot and delicious. Staff was friendly.

Valentines Day With My Honey!

By drn4 |

For Valentines Day I took my lovely wife for a nice dinner. I heard a radio ad for Texas Roadhouse for two ribeye steaks, two sides each, and an appetizer for $39. I thought it was a great deal. We had a very good meal and very good service. Our drink glasses were never near being empty. They offer call a head seating and I strongly recommends taking advantage of this service.

Smile for meat and taters!

By Mariah S |

Each of our steaks were cooked as we asked. Our waitress was great, except it would have been nice if she had explained about a couple things costing extra. $1 for marshmallows on the sweet potato, for example. She offered that to my son, so he smiled and said sure, but she didn't say it cost extra. Servings were large and we loved our food, especially the sweet rolls, potatoes, and steaks.

GREAT Service

By Judith Jaecks |

If you want the best steak in town, then go to this restaurant. It is so tender it melts in your mouth. You will love seeing all the stuff that Willie Nelson has contributed. Go see and tell me what you think!

Great atmosphere and food!

By Frank R |

The steaks and drinks are great here and always, worth the wait. One of my favorite places to dine when I lived in Austin. I love the rustic decor and the memorabilia on the walls is very interesting. Never been disappointed here.

Casual, Happy, Good food!

By Jan B |

The service is energetic, very friendly, and attentive. The food is good. My husband likes to pick out his own Ribeye...I love the big filet. Tender, full of flavor, great sides, great homemade rolls. Of course, I've had slightly better filets for 2-3 times the price, but, for the price, you cannot beat this place!

Great value

By rmaccara |

Enjoyed a lunch here and were impressed with the excellent service and great food. Wait staff were very attentive and the decor was just what you might imagine it would be in Texas!

Great steaks

By Mark C |

Took my daughter-in-law and son with us to eat here due to it's closeness to their apartment. Didn't expect much but got steak that was as good as any steakhouse in the area. I mean, it was grilled to perfection, juicy and so flavorful. One had the grilled salmon and it was also very good. Appetizers were delicious. It was a spur of the moment place but the food was so much better than I expected. Will visit more of the Texas Road Houses after this experience.

On a downhill slide

By GC50MH56 |

We've been dining here since opening. At first, it was a thrill, with good food and service. The food remains ok, and the service is outstanding. But, the men's bathroom! Total yuck. Smelly, wet floor with trash, unsanitary. Wasn't hungry after washing my hands to prep for meal after that smell. And this isn't the first time. We had a seat by the kitchen, which afforded is the opportunity to observe. The entryways have a stainless surround. We saw several servers and cooks place their hands on this and after a while, it was greasy with hand prints. One important way diners can always tell if a restaurant is clean is by inspecting the bathrooms and observing the kitchen area, is possible. Being that the bathroom is an ongoing issue, it will be a while if ever, that I go back. Can't get that smell out of my head.

Large meal.

By Kathy R |

We had wanted to eat here for lunch but saw that they weren't open during the week for lunch. I had a sirloin steak and shrimp with sides of a house salad and loaded sweet potato. Steak was pretty good. Salad was fair. Sweet Potato was very good and served as a dessert because it was very sweet. The shrimp were a little spicy. The rolls with the honey butter were great. The service was very good

Excellent steak

By Daniel Alvarez |

First dinner in Austin, in a business trip. We had an excellent steak, fries and corn. The restaurant was a bit noisy and busy, but the service was fast and efficient.

Always a pleasant experience ...

By N122198 |

We come here almost every week as a family. We loved their sirloin steak with matching veggies and corn kernels. Their drinks are great, as well as the non stop refills of freshly baked bread and roasted peanuts in big containers are all over the place. Their Staff treat you like a family, they're sweet and polite. Prices are affordable. You will always come back. Thank you Texas Roadhouse. See you again next week.

Worst Experience

By CharlotteAmalie |

The restaurant was small, cramped and felt dirty. All that made the atmosphere unpleasant and unenjoyable.

Always good

By Hannah T |

We eat here several times a month because it's so inexpensive and so darn good! We never get tired of the chicken fried steak, cold crisp salad, and rattlesnake bites. You might have to wait and it's louder than a 747 jet engine, but you will be greeted with a smile and hot basket of warm soft buttery sweet bread and a bucket of peanuts. This location is special because there are tons of pictures and autographs from Willie Nelson and his friends. The staff and management are always nice, fast, and efficient. I don't recommend it for a romantic evening, but it's great for family, friends, and birthdays. The only down side is the wait and the tiny booths in the bar area.

Staff always accommodating

By Michael R |

Staff always accommodating for special dietary restrictions, one of the few places we can eat at comfortably addressing allergens. Great Steaks and Salmon, potatoes and sweet potatoes.

Night out for meal

By Rod M |

Super meal, great service and steak and rib combo was delicious and cooked to perfection. Service was good and I love the touch of having monkey nuts on the tables and throwing the shells on the floor.

Sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss

By lonestarlizard |

As a birthday celebrating group, we have frequented this Texas Road House for a few years. Most of the time the food was good, if not above average for a chain steak house. However, last Monday night we went once more for our celebration. This time was one of the misses. We were greeted and seated immediately and our server, Regan took drink orders and left. After she returned with our drinks, she took our meal orders and we dined on the very good rolls and cinnamon butter, along with the free peanuts. All was well. Our salads arrived and were pleasingly good. Then our meals came. I had ordered the double pork chop plate with a side of chili. The chops were large and cooked just right. The chili was fine. The problem was the amount of salt on the pork chops. Whatever seasoning was used is simply way too overloaded with salt. The peppercorn sauce served with the chops was fine but the over salted meat practically ruined the taste. I ate just one and will rinse the seasoning off of the other at home. Our two friends ordered the 12 ounce rib eye steak, one medium-rare and one medium. Their steaks were not cooked to order or were mixed up by the server. One was almost a true medium and the other was, well, we did not what it was. True to their policy, Regan asked if the steaks were what were desired. The response was that our friends would look at the steaks a minute more and Regan would return. Shortly thereafter, a young man, probably a floor manager, stopped by and asked about our meals. I mentioned that the one steak simply wasn't up to TRH standards. Our friend said that his steak just wasn't going to work out. The servers took the steak, leaving his baked potato and vowed to return shortly. This action is what ruins dining out events. One person sits there while others eat. The steak problem has happened to me here as well before. I ordered the filet and got something that certainly was not recognizable as a good filet. It went back as well. Not good! His next steak came soon enough, was a much better cut of meat and was cooked very rare, not medium rare. He had a few bites around the edges and gave up. The only meal of the 4 to commend was the rack of ribs plate. Without doubt, the TRH serves the best pork ribs in Austin. You simply cannot go wrong ordering those. We may return but it will probably be just for the ribs.

Best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas

By bruce3404 |

I expect to get dissed by some foodies on the title, but having sampled a lot of CFS (or country fried steak as it's shown on the menu), I still think the Roadhouse's is the best (with Babe's in N TX a very close second). With your meal, you get a choice of two huge sides and if I have one complaint about this place, it's that they give you too much food (easily resolved by taking advantage of doggie bags). My favorite meal is CFS, with a nice crisp Caesar salad and mashed potatoes smothered in white gravy as my sides. Service is always good, the waitresses are sweet and while the atmosphere is far from quiet since so many people love to eat here, it's still pleasant enough. Oh, and they have a terrific early bird menu and my above favorite meal can be had for only $7.99.

Where was Willie??

By Jimbojetset_12 |

I missed Willie Nelson playing in Austin the night before so, my friends said next best was his Roadhouse restaurant. Visiting from the UK I am used to chain restaurants but this was different and what an experience, first the sounds, loud but fun, then the peanuts, I feel sorry for the folk who have to sweep. I had the large Tbone which was perfectly cooked, rare and rested so no blood, and perfectly sessioned. The wine was basic but good and not overly expensive. The service was great with attentive smiling staff. All round a great evening and I will certainly revisit next time I am in Austin. Thank you Willie

Excellent steaks!

By Amy Travels |

We visited during the water boil advisory in Austin... so service was slower and there was a limited menu. The staff adapted extremely well despite the challenging circumstances. We went for the steak and weren’t disappointed! The Caesar salads were also delicious — fresh flavours and not overly garlicky. The place was packed on this Monday night, so loud and festive with many celebrating birthdays. Would definitely return.

Great Restaurant

By Steve D |

I've been to several Texas Roadhouse restaurants before, but this was my first visit to this one. I ordered the Country Fried Chicken with chili and fresh vegetables with sweet tea. The country fried chicken was covered in cream gravy; it was moist, succulent, and delicious! The vegetables were steamed carrots & broccoli and was tasty. The bowl of chili topped with cheese and onions was delicious. The teas was very good. The service was fast and friendly. The prices are reasonable. It gets pretty noisy in here but a great place to eat and unwind.

Come as you are but come hungry

By TexasSweetTea30196 |

Best salad (loaded) and tender steaks. Tip--use call ahead seating it cut our wait time. Servers all seem young but are all nice. They will stuff you with homemade rolls. Try the strawberry tea also.

Saturday Family lunch

By Alisa W |

Food was good, service was great! Food arrived a little slow but only because our waiter saw that the steak wasn't cooked to our specifications and sent back before it even got to us! We'll definitely go back.

The good and not-so-good

By Lawrence S |

On a recent vacation, we stopped on a mid-morning Sunday. The place was packed, but we decided to wait. Once seated, our server was quick to respond and promptly brought out drinks. We gave our orders and waited quite a while for them to be served. The filet medallions was a nicely sized portion and cooked to perfection. The country fried sirloin was wonderfully done also. But the Herb Crusted Chicken was overcooked and very dry. The accompanying lemon was burned. Each of the meals came with 2 sides - corn, rice, salad, fresh vegetables, steak fried, baked or mashed potatoes. All of our chosen sides were quite good. In spite of the dry chicken, the meal was pleasant with good food. A bucket of salted peanuts was on the table to pass the time until orders arrived. cute

In the mood for BBQ or steak? Great choice.

By recumbentrider |

As you walk in you can see the steak selections in a refrigerated display case on the right. I was alone and chose to eat at the bar as I often do. The waitress promptly came over and introduced herself and asked my name. We shook hands. Unusual, I thought. Alas she can't be interested in me; she's barely 20 and I'm 69. Reality check. OK, it must be a tradition at this establishment. I was in a BBQ mood so I selected a pulled pork rib combo with two sides; fries and buttered corn. Wow! Possibly the best BBQ that I've ever had and I've lived in Georgia for many years. Two guests sitting on my left ordered steaks and were raving at how good (and large) they were. I'm never impressed with large steaks and I grew up in Argentina so it takes a very special piece of meat to impress me but those looked very good. Overall a great dinner at a very reasonable price with fantastic service.

Steak Soooo Tender

By viamaduro |

How do they get their steaks that tender?? Put a bite on your tongue and just savor it. Steak at it's best. They have other selections on the menu, but the steak is what we go for. As expected they are usually very busy, no reservations, but when you're heading there call ahead to get on the waiting list.

Great as usual.

By Fain R |

We had wanted to stop here for lunch, but they weren't open. We came back for dinner and each ordered a steak and shrimp with baked sweet potato loaded with marshmallows. It was way more than we could eat, but I tried anyway.

Always good at Texas Roadhouse

By Boris M |

Had dinner here one night whilst visiting Austin. I had previously been to one in South Dakota which was great and decided to try this one. I was not disappointed. Great selection of foods at very reasonable prices along with good service in a clean venue, what more could you want.

Always good and crowded

By Michael R |

Staff and menu are excellent. Easily accommodated special menu considerations. Staff always pleasant and professional although busy.

Fabulous Conference Dinner

By FlyingEagle86 |

The overall customer service was outstanding. The food was extremely tasty and delicious. We had dinner early and beat the late night dinner crowd. There are dinner specials before 6:00 PM.

Awesome place to eat, family place and service is real good

By Amy S |

Best place to eat hands down! Steak cooked to perfection! Best bread I've ever had and the butter is amazing. It has cinnamon blended into it, so sweet. The staff are the best in the biz. It's always packed so make sure you come early! The wait is more than worth it

LOVE their Steak and Bread!!!

By Anastasiya D |

My gf and I have been there several times and it's ALWAYS packed and the wait line is usually about 30 mins. Every time we managed to find a place by the bar and order food there. A couple times our order was messed up and the manager came and offered to pay for our food, which was really nice. They serve absolutely the best break with cinnamon butter ever!!!! I even hate cinnamon with a passion, but it's the best butter I've ever had! I usually love getting 11oz Sirloin steak with smothered loaded baked potato and chili, and it's super delicious! Margaritas are a bit too sweet for my liking. And generally speaking Margaritas are my favorite choice of drinks, but I usually just get a beer or cider on tap. Staff are super friendly and really fast! It's a great place for families with kids or couples, or just friends, or even solo!

Not so fond.

By Lisa M |

Dirty, germy and I did not want to eat here. I opened the menu to find food crusted over. NASTY. Since you can eat peanuts and throw them on the ground, there was just food crumbs everywhere. The whole environment just made me not want to eat the food. The service was nice- even after I brought them my gross menu. The bathrooms were clean. The food was ok. The TVs were small. Just not a place I enjoyed. If you don't mind feeling like your plate may or may not have been cleaned before you use it [ok, I know they clean their dishes but the hygiene here is not the best] then you go and have a good time!

Great steaks

By Andrew H |

Visited this restaurant and loved it so much we visited a branch in Houston same great food and service loved the cocktails

This Place Rocks!

By James T |

We are big Roadhouse fans, and eat at one of their locations frequently. This one is owned by Willie Nelson, so it had even more interesting décor than others we had visited. We were seated as soon as we walked in, which was unusual from our experience (in a good way). The place is loud and boisterous, but always so friendly and comfortable. We had the double chops (as usual) and shared a potato. We enjoyed the excellent rolls and peanuts (goobers if you please). We also sat near the bar, and enjoyed watching the folks interact. It was a very nice meal. If you are nearby, drop on in!

Please never vist this chain

By Dalton C |

Ordered takeout and was supposed to be ready at 659. Didn't get food till 745. When I got the food it was ice cold and missing items. Everyone was rude here and the girls were eating food from people's orders behind the takeout window. Do not go to any of these restaurants. It is not what it once was more like a feed trough now

Best service and steaks!!

By T & C |

My hubby and I had a delicious early dinner at Texas Roadhouse today. Our waitress, Desirae gave us excellent service as well beautiful smiles with her eyes! David grilled us the best sirloin we've had in years!!! Absolutely juicy, tasty and tender!!! Thank you Texas Roadhouse for brightening our day as well as feeding us well again!

exceptional service and food.

By arleneb5900 |

absolutely the best steak I have eaten here and the sides and servings were ample. they have a wonderful 8.99 early bird supper served before six pm which is very affordable. I had sirloin with a loaded baked potato and steamed broccoli all for under ten dollars. they have a full service bar and it is a very happy atmosphere. the waiters and waitresses are very professional friendly and knowledgable about he menu. I would highly recommend it to business travellers, family and friends.

Great food at fair prices!

By Klugeco |

My wife and I enjoyed late dinner on a packed Saturday night at this Texas Roadhouse. The servers were very on the spot with attentive service and checked on everything throughout the meal to insure our satisfaction. The steaks were cooked perfectly we were quite happy with the food, the staff and the atmosphere.

Visit the Willie Nelson owned Texas Roadhouse!

By Cathie Bright Moore |

Your typical Texas Roadhouse, but not your typical owner. Just fun to say we enjoyed Willie Nelson's hospitality :) The servers were all excellent, the food was delicious, biscuits outstanding, and the beer was cold! Good variety on the menu has a little something for everyone. This is a VERY, VERY BUSY place If you want to eat dinner at a reasonable time, I suggest getting there by 5:00pm.

Terrible food. Does not reflect price.

By Jodi P |

I'm kinda bummed writing this but this is the third time they can not get a steak right. Previous times we have ordered the Porterhouse and sent them back, didn't complain or review, but this time it was a birthday and somehow they managed to mess up 2 bone-in rib-eyes. They were too well done, not medium or rare like we requested, and when they offered to replace one, the rest of the table had food and I was left with bread and a over cooked steak I didn't touch. The waitress was super nice and was tipped at 30%, as this is not her fault. But for spending as much money as we do when we dine, this was a terrible disappointment, especially on a birthday. My go to is Eddie V's or Austin Land and Cattle, never an issue after 20 years of going, this this place needs to understand how to cook a steak more proper, especially for the price.

Family lunch

By Norma Luu |

This place is delicious and staff is very nice. Weekends might be a long wait but it's worth it to wait for your steak and a margarita!

Didn't see Willie, but had a great experience!

By crbtravels |

We love Texas Roadhouse, and this one has lots of references and items related to Willie Nelson, who owns it. The steaks are what make this a great restaurant, and the price is very reasonable. If you're looking for a great char-grilled steak, this place should be on your list. The young waitstaff is typically friendly, attentive, and happy to see you. Get a reservation, because it is very popular.

Great

By Bill E |

Got there in time for early dine. Bread and drink refilled without asking. Got tsble as requested...i don't fit good in booth.

Texas Roadhouse

By Lauren K |

First time here and omg…where has this been all my life? Excellent food! Nosy but it’s to be expected…outstanding grilled shrimp and the steaks are to die for! Server Amanda was awesome! Very friendly and helpful! Highly recommend!

Texas style restaurant with a fun atmosphere.

By Tina B |

Everything we've tried here is great. This restaurant is owned by Texas son Willie Nelson. My family loves the Roadkill. It is a yummy flavorful chopped steak smothered in brown gravy, sauted onions & mushrooms, & topped with grated cheese. Wait staff is extremely friendly and efficient. We always get a great meal at a great price.

Less than desirable

By Vanita |

Not surprising the service was slow and the food came out cold and mediocre. Two managers came by and again after another 20-30 minute wait after my cold meal arrived, I received my “warm@dinner. Only reason I went to use up a gift card… never again will I ask for a gift card from this place

POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES.

By Oliver Bowen |

The steak is super tasty, cooked to perfection, the staff were really helpful. The only negatives were the sides weren’t that great, I had fries which were quiet salty and green beans which weren’t that nice.

Highly recommended

By SilvioW |

We left the outlet of San Marcos, headed to Austin, passing some of the lunch time. We randomly stopped at Texas Roadhouse and decided to enter. What a good decision. Sensational food, there are several options,, has no comment, but by what we ate (sirloin and rib fillet) with their accompanying, everything is good. The environment is that typical texan and the environment very fun. The waiters are very attentive and at a certain point stop to sing and dance. Very cool. Recommended place

Huge meal, low price, great service

By The_Fishing_Badger |

Being from the UK the price shocked us afterwards. 2 huge meals, cactus onion sharer, unlimited coke, a beer and as many AMAZING rolls and cinnamon butter & peanuts as you could eat... All for the £25 ! That's crazy cheap and such good quality food. Staff and server where very attentive and polite. Welcomed two newcomers warmly.

The rolls are to die for!

By RaBond |

For dinner, I ordered the special that they were having which was steak and shrimp. I always order my steak in a restaurant to medium, or medium well depending on how many times I've eaten there and know their cooking, but I just want a tiny amount of pink in the middle. My steak was cooked perfectly, along with the shrimp.

Good dinner

By Suleman Ali M |

Good New York steak, done to perfection, with 2 sides, good service, good food quality. waiting to try Porterhouse 26 oz maybe tonight.

Slippery floors!

By Jarle1989 |

Be careful of extremely slippery floors. Bacon cheeseburger and ribeye both good. Service was good considering it was Sunday lunch time.

Wonderful Time with family

By N122198 |

We always come here with my husband and my daughter. This restaurant is family oriented, all servers are very welcoming and their foods are great. Last night I had the 10 oz Rib Eye and it's just so tender, fresh and delicious with corn and mixed veggies on sides. My daughter and my hubby got some sirloin at its best. Very fulfilling. Their free refill homemade rolls are the BEST. Peanuts are just the same, eat all you can. Watch out for dried peanuts on floors, you will step on them. We had fun bonding with family here. Service Staff are so wonderful. Their prices are reasonable, drinks included and we all came up a total of at least $60 plus tips. We always come here HUNGRY ... Overall, we will always come back To Texas Roadhouse and will recommend to friends and families.

Darn good place to eat a steak

By Mar S |

Ate one of the best sirloins here. Had a sweet potato side and a house salad. Everything was ridiculously delicious. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Price is not too bad either. Service was great. Made me proud to be a Texan.

Yummy!

By Devon J |

We are on the road home to California from Texas and stopped in for our first time at Texas Roadhouse. It was busy, service was quick and pleasant. What a fun place! The food was beyond amazing. Highly recommend!

Can count on continuity at the Roadhouse.

By Good_EyeTexas |

We frequent the Roadhouse and generally have a good experience with the food. This visit was no exception, it was good. The atmosphere leads a lot to be desired, unless you're a kid. The nasty little buckets of peanuts on the tables is not appetizing. The music is usually too loud, and a lack of ambience due to the dishes, plates and glasses clanging, in addition to the occassional whooping and hollering when someone has a birthday there. What would be nice, would be a similar restaurant with a quiet area for Senior citizens who dislike the hoopla...it wouldn't even have to have peanut hulls on the floor!! I have often wondered why restaurants don't use more sound absorbent materials on the walls such as rugs or quilts. But...a separate quiet area would be wonderful.

Good chain steak house and good food

By Joel M |

Came back after being a way a bit. Not disappointed. The service was on point. The food was served hot and hearty. The wait staff was pleasant, friendly and even offered the dish of the day. Had ribs and it was a good meal. The food was excellent. This place always calls for a return visit and am glad I finally returned.

Good food, good service and a good atmosphere

By Phaserblazer |

We we went here for a meal with friends who live locally and we all had a nice meal and were well looked after. This was the first time we had visited this chain but it seems very similar to Logan's Roadhouse and that is no bad thing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes the whole steak/ribs/chicken kind of fare.

Love this place

By Odessa C |

Steaks are always nice and juicy, prices are great, rolls are to die for, peanuts good to snack on, and yummy good sized margaritas. What more can you ask for??

Son treated his Mom on Mother's Day.

By Jun_Helen-c |

My son was asking his Mom where she wanted to eat on Mother's Day and his mom told him hat she wanted to have the onion blossom as an appetizer. He suggested that Texas Roadhouse would be the best place and they've got really amazing food to go with it. We ordered steak with shrimp on the skewer and chili on the side. Our food was amazingly delicious and sumptuous that we have to request a container to take home for leftover. Surprisingly most of the customers that left the restaurant have a pack in tow. We left the restaurant fully satisfied both for the excellent service and the amount of food served. Additional perk on the restaurant was it was owned by Willie Nelson and has a small memorabilia inside.

Amazing experience, great food, fine service

By jonathonlevy |

Texas Roadhouse is a noisy, peanut husks-on-the-floor family steakhouse that surprises and delights with high quality steaks, great service, and reasonable prices. Even on a Saturday at dinner time our waitress Gabby was spot on with each course, asking the right questions in advance to insure that we got exactly what we wanted. For example, she asked if it would be OK to bring the salad while we were eating our appetizers. Nice to have someone ask. The steaks were cooked perfectly. When I ordered mine I mis-read the menu and ordered one 2 ozs larger than the size printed on the menu. "That's OK," said Gabby, "If you like we can cut one that size for you." As busy as they were, they were willing to prepare a custom meal for me that was not on the menu. I declined, but was very impressed. This is a noisy place with lots of happy people having a good time. I could have used less noise, but everything else was just great. And they know how to cook green beans too, Texas style.

Consistently Delicious Steak

By Kevlin W |

The Texas Roadhouse on IH 35and Slaughter Lane is consistently our go to steak home. We have been eating here since it has opened. The staff is friendly and helpful. They start you off with peanuts and homemade, melt in your mouth rolls ,with cinnamon butter. Since we can’t make a good steak , this has become our go to steak place. They cook the most tender , delicious, steaks around. They hand cut their own beef and they do it well. We also enjoy their potatoes, baked , sweet or white , broccoli and their salad which includes cheese , croutons , eggs and carrots. It is a great place to visit while in Austin. It has the Willie Nelson vibe with pictures and memorabilia from its famous owner. Kudos!!!

Good food, great service

It's no wonder this place is always so busy. The food is good, and hot when served. Great service too. Love to eat here when in Austin area.

Best Steak in Austin's

Great Steakhouse in Austin

By rwmoreau |

This is my favorite steakhouse in Austin. I live here so I have been to many steakhouses in this area, and this one is consistently my favorite. The prices are very reasonable, the service is great, and the food is always great. I have never had a bad steak here and I have been going here for years. It is often crowded and it helps to call in your reservation a little in advance. This place is family friendly and a lot of fun. Kind of a laid back Austin kind of eating place.

Never mind the peanut shells- the steaks are amazing!

By PiratewannaB |

The service is outstanding; second only to the food! Noisy enough for you to bring the rug rats, too. I don't care about the atmosphere as much as the food and drinks, though. Both are appropriately Texas sized, and very good. Don't waste your money at more expensive steak houses: I've been to some really nice ones, and I don't think I ever got a better steak. The wait staff actually seem to enjoy working there, and that makes all the difference in how you'll be treated. I love this place.

Very nice visit

By Gary T |

We visited on a busy Saturday night at prime time and when we got there we saw that there were at least 100 people waiting for a table. We were so glad we had called ahead and gotten a call in number, we walked in gave our name and number to the hostess and we were at our table three minutes later. What you say- how can that be, they don't take reservations. True, they don't but you can call ahead and they add you to the list and give you a time you need to arrive by. Our need to arrive time was 6:18 and we arrived at 6:15. We had a delightful meal dining on two different steak dinners. I had the New York Strip and my wife had the Tenderloin Medallions which were on sale for $15.99. Imagine that, 9 OZ of Tenderloin and three sides for $16. Our steaks were prepared perfectly and all of our sides were yummy as well. Service by Cy---y was outstanding although the kitchen was a tad bit slow. Given the fact that every table was occupied and there were actually people sitting in the kinds of fold up chairs you take to tail gating parties or your kids volleyball games that can be forgiven. There are a number of reasons this place is so darned busy- great food, really nice people taking care of you and very reasonable pricing. I don't give many 5 stars but they earned one tonight.

Great Food, Great Location

By HappyPenny |

I always like the Texas Roadhouse chain, and really enjoyed this Austin location. Easy to find off the highway, and easy to get right back on the road when you're finished. We had a family celebration here, with a large party. Everything was just right - great food, great service, and a great time together. You can pay more for steak, but you won't get a better value anywhere. Unless you're only happy paying high prices, you'll enjoy eating here.

Dinner was excellent. We had 2 filets and 1 prime rib. The steaks were perfect. Service was great. Would definitely return to this Texas Roadhouse

Wild about Wild West Wednesday

By SeekingSpeakingValue |

WHAT a great value the sirloin steak on Wild West Wednesday special. Medium rare was perfect. Tasty. Tender. Friendly waitress. This place far excels over the “other roadhouse” on down the road, closer to me.

Awesome Meal w/Awesome Service!

By Tanja D |

My brother wanted a good steak and it was Friday before 3 so my husband and I took him to Texas Roadhouse for steak and baked potatoe. We were greeted by a smiling host and seated immediately. Our waitress was Kris--an amazing. ...fun.....personable young lady with a contagious smile. I ordered the grilled chicken salad (not too good) my husband ordered his usual ROAD KILL w/grilled onions & mushrooms. Delicious as usual. Oh yeah....those loaded mashed potatoes. Scrumptious! !! Great restaurant w/Amazing server (Kris)

Great Place to eat

By Judith Jaecks |

This is a great place to eat. The food is to die for, especially the rib eye steaks. The staff is also great and go beyond their service to help you get what you want. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like to check it out.

Consistently great steaks

By ATX_Golfer_n_Foodie |

Usually eat here every other Wednesday or so for their Wild Wednesday special - 11 oz sirloin and 2 sides for $9.99 (can't go wrong) Service is good, food is consistent and tasty ... and what a great deal on Wednesdays!

Great Food

Great food and great service at a reasonable price. A variety of choices on the menu. Enjoy the peanuts. Yum Yum.

Try the fried pickles! A little salty, but really good! :D

My favorite steakhouse, my no-brainer when in the area

By Alex Lee |

My wife and I bumped into this great steakhouse during our trip to Austin, and fell in love with it after the first lunch. Whenever we travel in the area, we'll try to stop for lunch or dinner. It never disappoints, though sometime you have to wait for a while. We've tried steak and spare ribs and some other entries, and they are all good. Food quality is good, service is good, and the atmosphere is good. It really feels like a Texas steakhouse. Free roasted peanuts with shells scattering on the floor is a big plus.

Unreal Steak

By J. Scott H |

If you like steak, do yourself a favor and get The Dallas Strip cooked medium. It was super tasty, and I love steaks from Ruth's Chris and Perry's Steakhouse. That, plus the awesome bread made my visit there perfect!!

Friendly staff

By Marty C |

My wife and I were guided to a seat. I said that I wasn't happy with the seating (close to the door). She just stood there and didn't say anything. "We just sat down. The waiter came over and said "Would you like to sit somewhere else?" (He evidently overheard what I previously said.) I pointed to another table and he said "No problem". We ordered two drinks while waiting for our guests. I had a draft beer. My wife ordered one of the margaritas from the several featured on the drink menu. It had sugar on the rim (instead of salt), to go with this drink. She said it was outstanding. Our guests arrived and ordered drinks. He ordered a bottle of Miller and she a margarita (with salt). We ordered a rib eye $20.00) and split it. We added the mushroom and onions. It was very good. We topped off the mashed potatoes (cheese and bacon bits). We will pass on the topping next time (not needed). Our guests each ordered the smaller rib eye ($13) and enjoyed same. Bottom line---good food and very friendly staff. We will go back.

Great food, Great staff. Best Texas Roadhouse ever!

By David L |

I'm a business traveler and can always count on a great dinner at Texas Roadhouse. This was even a step better. After meeting the very friendly bartender and explaining this was my first visit to this restaurant, the manager stopped by and shock my hand, welcomed me, gave me a bag of Roadhouse peanuts to take with and a coupon for a free appetizer. That little gesture will bring me back every time I come to work in Austin. The bartenders couldn't be much nicer. They acted like they enjoyed there job. They checked back constantly to make sure I was happy. My steak was cooked perfect medium, and great taste. Very delicious Real mashed potatoes and brown gravy. This is now my favorite Texas Roadhouse with all others tied for second. Always a great experience at Texas Roadhouse

Loud and OK

By Pebble_Daddy |

So we stopped on here for dinner one night . A few things - the place was very busy, usually a good sign. One negative off the stray was just the sheer volume of the place - really off the charts. You could not hear the people in front of you while sitting in the booth. The peanuts at the table were soggy due to sitting in the humidity (my guess). The waitress was great and friendly and the rolls with cinnamon butter were not too bad. The salads were standard fare, nothing unique. The steak - not a bad price for the 12oz Ft. Worth - was way too salty. The appearance has grill marks but the body was more grey then red. It was tender but just way over salted. With a name like Texas Roadhouse I thought they would rock the steak... Needless to say, the overall experience was not that pleasant. From the reviews and how the restaurant was packed, maybe I just caught them on an off day.

My Birthday at Texas Roadhouse was cool!

By TheSinglenista |

Thank you TR for. Cool birthday experience… The food was great, your waitlist process made it easy for me to arrive and not be in line, and the staff were superb! I am a Pescatarian but I at a Steak that day and glad I did!! Cooked to perfection and a great cut of meat for the pricing… My grands had a great time too, those ribs are there favorite!!!

Great food, fantastic service!

By redzin0613 |

We visited Austin for a wedding and stopped by for a quick lunch. The sirloin was tender and pulled pork was tasty. The service was outstanding. Our waiter was extremely attentive and the manager came by before the check arrived to ask how our experience was. I can't say enough about this location. Highly recommend the value for the quality of both the food and service.

Workers who STEAL

By Mich m |

I can not recommend this place when they don’t have honest people working there, I left my 600 US sunglasses on the table and obviously when the waitress back for his tip he took that glasses I came back to look for it and I also tried to talk with the manager, she only talked to me about the policies but she never talked with the waitress, I never imagined that this would happen in this place. Probably the restaurant is not caring about clients but I never going back to this place and I never going to recommend this place with people who steal.

good steaks

By jim d |

Steaks cooked to order with just the right amount of seasoning and ice cold beer.... large house salad with eggs just wish they had a better selection of appetizers.

HOME OF THE 9 DOLLAR BEER

By Jason Gomez |

Roadhouse at Southpark Meadows has a cozy bar with very friendly barmaids and not to bad on the eyes. My only beef is they do not have a real happy hour for the working man. This is the home of the $9 DOLLAR DRAFT BEER! And it is never on special. I went to apple bee's in Kyle and the same 22 ouncer is always $3.99 with great happy hour menu and prices. I mean come on ROADHOUSE your beer prices are Gentleman's club prices. Also Hopdoddy on West William Cannon has happy hour from 3-6 PM Monday- Thursday, half off on all beers!!!! These are expensive times and the dollar does not go that far, so I started going to Roadhouse less often because 4 beers was $40 DOLLARS without tip and food, OUTRAGEOUSLY OVERPRICED!!!!

Such a fab dining experience!!!

By frenchval88 |

Such a fab dining experience!!! Proper American diner and the steaks were SO tasty!!! The staff is super friendly, plenty to look at (decor...). We didn’t book and only had a 15 min wait. Don’t forget to ask for your military discount - if you are military obvs! Oh and the mango margarita was great too!!

Must Visit!!!

Absolutely amazing!!! I had a hand cut 11oz top sirloin steak with loaded mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli!!! Best I have ever had!!!

Very lively atmosphere. Roadhouse should alert you that it can be noisy. Greeted with a smile at the door and all wait staff seemed to be quite busy. Taylor took very good care of our party of 6. She knew the menu well and was able to make suggestions when asked. She was very attentive without hovering and had very positive personality.

Good Food but Poor Place to Eat

By Gause Traveler |

7 of us ate at this Roadhouse yesterday and found it to be average at best. We arrived to find plenty of parking. We got there right after it opened and told the hostess we needed a table for 7. During the conversation she said table of 4 and we corrected her for it to be for 7. About 20 minutes later we were called in only to be told they had a table for 4 and that we would have to wait for a larger table. Not very smart. Finally we were seated and our server, Camden, was right there and throughout the meal he did an exceptional job. He is the only reason I gave as high a rating as average. He was an exceptional waiter who worked hard to take care of us. Our food was good. Nothing to be raving about, but it was good and we enjoyed the meal. I think it is a little over priced for the quality, but not enough to argue about. The portion sizes were large and the food was fairly well presented, but again, nothing special. The biggest problem is the noise level. We could not hold a normal conversation at our table. We had to speak in very high volumes if we were to be heard. There is no excuse for a restaurant charging the prices they do being so loud that you cannot have a descent conversation. I would not go back and recommend you find some other place to eat if you want to enjoy your meal. If you just want food and don't mind the price or noise, then have at it!

Very Loud. Very Crowded!

By AQueenB |

No restaurant is with waiting 45 minutes for a table. Then we get seated and it’s so loud, you can’t hear the person talking across the table. The chicken topped salad was huge. And it was very good. Hubby got beef tenderloins and he liked them. And I know young folks today are used to noise and chaos but dining out should be relaxing and enjoyable. This was not.

an old standby

By allherfaces |

Been many times -- good food at reasonable prices. I love the filet mignon, the ribs, the pork chop, the road kill, the chicken fried steak. Great service. Go Willie!

All new meaning to TARTAR.....

By ktmaeder |

After traveling 45 minutes to have steak outside of Dripping Springs, we waited another hour + after being told 30-45 minutes. Then when we were finally taken to our seats we waited another 15 minutes before having our drink order taken. Had we not traveled that long to eat we would have already left, but by the time we would've gotten home it would've been past 9p and the kiddo needed to eat. I ordered the strip medium with sauteed mushrooms and onions, fresh veggies, and a side house salad. The steak was well done, mushrooms cold, and veggies overcooked. They only took the steak back to be cooked correctly, leaving me with a less than appetizing plate. My mother ordered the filet medium rare, sauteed mushrooms and onions, fresh veggies, and a sweet potato. Her steak was medium well, mushrooms and onions/veggies/sweet potato were all cold and overcooked. She was less than happy and they only took the steak back for correction. My sister had the strip medium as well but didn't want to wait any further for them to correct it and just dealt with the error. After waiting more than 20 additional minutes for the correction we were ready to leave and never come back. We asked a manager for assistance and he was able to bring us our food that had been waiting on the counter and arrived to us cold - like the other food that was left in front of us while they were supposed to be correcting the steaks. My mother didn't eat her steak, I only ate 1/2 of mine and the veggies/potatoes/mushrooms & onions remained on our plates. When we received the bill I advised the waitress she needed to remove my mother's plate at the least and make this visit right. That was all she did - her tip reflected the poor service by her and the kitchen. The supervisor didn't attempt to correct the wrong either. This was by far the worst visit to a restaurant I've experienced in my travels and locally.

Great value for steak.

By OregonCountry |

I was a little leery about going here, because I've eaten at another Texas Roadhouse that wasn't very good. We decided to give it a shot because of the good reviews on TA. There was a little bit of a wait on a Sunday night. It was Super Bowl Sunday, and the game was on the big screen TV, so we watched it while we waited. I ordered the 10 oz. Ft. Worth Ribeye ($16.99). My wife had the 8 oz. Strip Steak ($13.99). Both were good quality for the price. Salads were good, baked potato also good. Service was fine. A good value for a decent steak, if you don't feel like dropping $40-50 at a steak/chop house. We will definitely go back when in town.

Great steaks, good atmosphere

By Tibor T |

You can have great steaks here on a decent price. Maybe a bit salty but still good. I used to have it with double-corn. Their bread is superb, with cinnamon butter. If you need to wait in the queue you are welcomed to take peanuts but be sure not eat too much, steaks are not small :). Also I like the staff and the place itself, like a good sports bar, vibrating decor.

Great staff fantastic food

By loulefoodie2 |

What a great restaurant from the warm welcome as you enter, to the waitress you were made to feel at home. Fantastic Caesar salad with Steak fried Pickles were lovely.

Great place to eat

By Tom M |

The food at this location is very good. The service is extraordinary--a real surprise when eating out these days. I ordered a bottled beer but it turns out they were out of my beer in a bottle. They offered a draft, which I accepted. The manager came to our table a few minutes later and not only apologized for the inconvenience but she took my entrée off the bill. I was speechless--I a good way. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Great food

By vegasrugbyref |

One of my favorite inexpensive steak places. Even though I ate the delicious pork ribs, my party all enjoyed their meats too. I also had the cheese and bacon bits fries. Yummy! Almost 45 minutes wait time...accurately predicted.

I have had it with this place. They have very good food but when it comes comes to managing wait time, horrible.

By Leroy |

Wait time of 45 minutes is unacceptable. Especially with 15 or so empty tables throughout restaurant. …………………………………t

Yum!

By seniormom2017 |

Food, service and wine was delicious. The wine selection was a little scant but OK. The noise level at the tables was contained so you were able to talk and hear each other. Our waitress was very attentive, at one point I couldn't find her to order more wine and the young lady that passed was more than happy to put in the order and brought it ASAP. Fries were very yummy. Salad dressing choices were the usual. It was hard to get

great service

We have stopped here for lunch and on just about every time the service is great....good steaks, ribs, prime rib and chicken.the large beers are cold and inviting on a warm day.only thing there I don't like are the burgers....had twice and did not like.

Yummy

By Apanda8 |

My husband and I wanted to grab a bite before going to see a movie on a Friday night. The power of suggestion was set into motion earlier that day while I was at the gym to come here for dinner. The place was packed on a Friday evening and we ended up sitting at the bar. We managed to grab two seats on the end. The bartender was very friendly and took our beer orders and food orders. We were even told when happy hour was about to end so we could grab another drink if we like on happy hour prices. We started off with fresh rolls that were delicious with the not calorie friendly honey butter. The butter melted onto my bun making it even more mouthwatering. Yum! My first part of meal came out was a salad and my husband had the chili. The salad was a real dinner salad with that being lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, egg, and I had asked for no croutons. I had decided on oil and vinegar dressing on the side. A nice solid choice. My husband liked his chili and said it was flavorful. Then for my main meal I opted for a med rare (that's how I like my meat) Dallas 6 oz fillet with a sweet potato & honey butter. My husband ordered the roadkill with steak fries. Both our steaks were cooked perfectly to our liking and tasted equally delicious. I believe this is a good solid choice for a good meal if you are in the southpark meadows area. Yes, it is a chain restaurant but they have been consistent a good choice at all the locations I have been too. Don't forget you get unlimited peanuts to eat. Happy shelling.

Great Food, Great Staff

By JDubWaldon |

This was the absolute best visit we've had at a Texas Roadhouse. The food was awesome. My steak was cooked perfectly and we didn't have to wait long at all to get our food. Our waitress was always polite and checked on us at just the right times. They had an issue with the fire alarm while we were there. The waitress apologized before we ever said anything and the manager kept going around to each table to apologize and give an update. Everyone was very professional about it. Great place, great food, and great people!

Average value, average service--nothing more

By DGfromDallas |

Don't expect to be overwhelmed with the service. The place was not busy, but the waitstaff acted like we were more of an annoyance than paying customers. The food was of okay quality, but the apathy of the staff made it seem like they didn't give a hoot.

Excellent Prime Rib

Great service even better food!

By Denise A |

It was my fiancé’s parents first time here and they loved it! The service was quick, amigable and knowledgeable. The food quality definitely exceeded their expectations and we all loved our margaritas! The steak was so juicy and the shrimp were so scrumptious! We all cleared our plates. They definitely said they’ll be going there from now on and they were happy we showed them this restaurant! We’d definitely recommend them, a lot of bang for your buck!

Consistent Quality

By pooktravels |

I have eaten at more expensive steak houses and I will say that Texas Roadhouse for the money is as good as any. I always get the 8 oz sirloin and they always cook it perfectly. You can not go wrong here.

Went on a Saturday with the wife and my son, three of us ate for $28 with tip, my wife and I both had the petitie sirloin and vegtables my son had the chicken strip kids meal. My son, who is finicky, finished his and our steaks were awesome.
