Superb Thai food

By Amy W |

This was my first time traveling to Portland as a tourist. My local friend highly recommended this place. He was right - BEST Thai food I've ever eaten. The Thai food was better than any I've had in Seattle (and we have good Thai food). The ambience was warm and welcoming.

Great value at their happy hour

By lbipaddler |

Walking around the neighborhood we stumbled upon this place. It was a Sunday and they had happy hour pricing for quite a bit of their menu. We ordered off both the happy hour menu and the regular menu. The chicken wings were excellent with a sauce that had some tamarind in it. The yellow curry, pad thai, and thai fried rice were all very good. Will definitely return on our next Portland trip.

Better than average Thai

By Mike G |

We were nine but they handled us without a problem. Some standard Thai food but some unusual items as well (I had a very good and spicy duck curry) Reasonably priced.

Great Dinner

By Steve |

Nice atmosphere, friendly service and very good food. Five of us went and all enjoyed what we ordered, noodle and curry dishes were both really good! Highly recommend trying Thai Bloom!

Very good food but soicy

By amber1127 |

We had been to the Japanese Tea Garden and Rose Gardens and needed somewhere to eat. This was recommended. It was A Friday later evening and we were seated quickly. They had some tables outside for parties fewer than 4. Also indoor seating. They had a bar as well. We had the spring rolls which were good along with chicken satay and they were good. My 9 year old really enjoyed them as well. We got drunken noodles and this was a mistake since they were very spicy to us. We like heat and eat it often but those were very spicy. We had cashew chicken which was good and the panang curry was also very good. Huge portions for the price, great flavors, and nice service.

Best Thai food in Pacific NW

By Susan C |

I've searched high and low for a replacement for Typhoon...which closed down several years ago...taking with it my favorite food. Well they're back in the form of Thai Bloom in Beaverton and NW Portland. These dishes have the purest most vibrant tones and taste. The Tom Kai soup is addictive. The freshest chicken you'll ever find. I will only get Thai food from this restaurant forever more

Not Really 100% Authentic Thai

By Kebablover |

Don't get me wrong, we had a great meal at Thai Bloom. I asked for my duck curry to be prepared 'Thai hot'. It certainly packed a punch. The flavours were spot on. The menu is big. Especially if you factor in the 'happy hour' extras. Some of the dishes would be better placed on a Chinese or Indian menu. Also, some of the Thai dishes have either been adapted for the western palate or its due to the difficulty obtaining ingredients. (Lettuce anyone?). The atmosphere felt a little like a fast food joint during happy hour. An influx of diners appearing, eating and leaving in a short space of time. We were also told that our dishes would be brought to the table in no particular order during this promotion even though we ordered off the main menu. Ironically, this is the norm in Thailand. Having said all that, We would dine here again on a future visit to Portland.

And I don't like Thai food...

By Footloosewomen |

When a group chose this place for our meeting, I was dismayed. I hate Thai food. So I went expecting to be disappointed. Instead, I loved it. It is a very attractive restaurant, outdone only by the loveliness of their wonderful staff. I had a pumpkin curry dish that changed my ideas about Thai food. And the menu is expansive; there is truly something for everyone. Delicious food, superb service, attractive ambiance - and very modest prices. And on NW 23rd! I'm bringing more people who hate Thai food to dinner this week. I can hardly wait to see their faces. Kudos to the management and chef!

Best Thai food ever and gluten free options

By Pam L |

I have celiac disease and was so happy to see the very well marked menu. The service was very good and the food was exceptional. I had Buddah's feast and it was full of fresh vegetables and tofu with excellent sauce. Hubby had Panang curry and said it was the best curry he's ever had. We will make this one of our regular stops when we are in Portland.

Yum!

By cyn b |

I tried laab for the first time, and I'm a convert! Staff was attentive and super helpful with suggestions to do in the area. Pleasant outdoor seating - relaxing pit stop! I would definitely go back and try other things on the menu!

Amazing food and service

By jockette22 |

The yellow curry was so delicious! My husband loved the pad se ew. The service was fast and the atmosphere was pleasant. Would definitely recommend.

Good Happy Hour choice

By King A |

Stopped by for happy hour and was very pleased. Pad Thai was pretty good but the ribs in an orange tamarind sauce with cilantro were the absolute winner. Good enough that we will go back for dinner.

Great food, service & atmosphere!

By Patti C |

Lunch service has been great the 3 times I've visited. The food on the specials has been very good. Most recent visit. - the spicy chicken with basil was excellent!my friend really enjoyed the ginger tofu. I will happily return!

Good, solid Thai food

By Sarah'stree |

We visited with friends who have eaten here many times, but it was our first visit. The food was very good, in a charming spot. The restaurant was quite busy for a Thursday evening, but not noisy. We started with fresh rolls, which I typically love, but these were only okay - small and too much mint. This was the only thing we ordered that was disappointing. The other four dishes we chose all arrived quickly with great flavors and were generously sized with very fresh ingredients. We enjoyed Drunken Noodles with tofu, garlicky green beans, Eggplant Stir Fry, and the yellow curry. It is easy to find vegan and or non gluten dishes here.

Great Lunch with Friends and Family!

By Valarie E |

After being given a wonderful tour of the Japanese Gardens by a good friend who is a docent there, my husband and I wanted to treat her to lunch afterward. She chose this restaurant (we're from the east coast), and told us that it is one of her favorites places for lunch Since she is a fantastic gourmet cook, we guessed that we were in for a great meal. Indeed we were! My Pad Thai was the best I've ever had and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his ginger chicken. My granddaughter, who was also with us, loved the chicken satay and fried calamari. The service was excellent. We look forward to eating at Thai Bloom the next time we visit Portland!

Presentation and taste among best in Portland

By Leonard L |

We went on Mother's Day without reservation, but they took us with no wait. Place was busy, perhaps reason each of the three of us received meals at different times (only real downside to our experience). Presentation was among best I have seen at Thai restaurants. We had noodle dish, seafood medley and vegan option. All were very good. Decent atmosphere, certainly cuts above that at restaurants formerly on this site. Fairly large restaurant with additional tables outside. Friendly service.

Salad Rolls are Fab

By SusieH327 |

Stopped in here for quick nourishment. The Salad Rolls were great. The peanut sauce was served warm. Delish!

Go for happy hour

By thetravelorganizer |

Just a few blocks from the northeast corner of Washington Park is this neighborhood gem. We arrived during happy hour (4-6pm) and shared 2 orders of veggie spring rolls, chicken pot stickers, pad Thai, Chiang Mai sausage and 2 glasses or Oregon Pinot Noir. Total bill with tip and tax? Just $48! Tip: You can earn up to 5 airline miles/$1 spent with a number of airlines through the Dining Rewards program and get 5% cash back from DOSH on your total bill at Thai Bloom!

Really good Thai food

By rachelp9 |

Great selection, nice staff and the food was brilliant. I had one of the best chicken in ginger dishes anywhere. Definitely recommend

Awesome food

By Alekhya |

Loved the food. Authentic thai dishes and a great ambience. The menu was interesting. Their portion sizes are good.

Delicious flavors

By Ptorresmx |

A different experience with an out-of-the-ordinary menu. The dishes are plentiful and the service is friendly. We tried lettuce tacos, spring rolls and noodles all very well. It is seen to be a favorite of the neighborhood for the number of orders they have. Delicious teas

Great Thai option right on 23rd

By Ricardo Q |

We came here based on the good reviews from other guests and were not disappointed. My niece and her boyfriend were visiting and they were craving Thai food, so we stopped here after picking them up from the airport. We ordered family style: basil fried rice, chicken curry and broccoli beef and it was plenty for four people (we even took some home). The flavors were excellent and the services was on point. I would definitely recommend this place.

Good food, slow service

By Linnbada |

Very fresh ingredients and flavorful. Husband had the Thai basil chicken and I had the stir fried eggplant with chicken. It was very good but it had too much oil. The portion was very generous. Overall the service was okay. We couldn't wait any longer for our free ice cream and had to leave.

Yellow curry amazing

By HaveFun78 |

The yellow curry was REALLY good, better then expected. It had a nice little spice to it, which was the perfect amount. Coupled with the sticky rice it was perfect. We got the veggies with tofu. The yellow curry puffs were good as well they were sweet, and very tasty, however you only get 3 in the appetizer, but they are filling. The pad see ewe was good, but I have had better. I felt like the noodles were over cooked, but it was still good to eat. Nice amount of veggies and tofu. If you check in on yelp you get free coconut ice cream. If you like coconut then you will like it. The place in general is nice with a nice ambience. Everyone was nice. I have a thing about keeping my water full and they definitely did not disappoint.

Best Thai in Portland, My Go To Spot

By Sarah C |

This is the most authentic Thai food in all of Portland. We eat in, get takeout, or delivery at least once per week! (Don’t let the times when it looks empty inside fool you... they have a top notch delivery service and multiple walk ins for takeout). The happy hour is fantastic, service is always on point and friendly, and a big plus: multiple Gluten Free items for my dietary restrictions (with a well labeled huge menu for all allergens). Definitely worth a visit when you’re in Portland. Also in one of the best areas of town (NW 23rd) to walk off your meal afterward (straight down to Salt and Straw for dessert).

A new favorite for dinner or happy hour

By Madeleine H |

This is a recent find, but so good! The dinner is amazing, my personal favorite was the crab pad thai (the massaman lamb shank is pretty good too, if you like lamb). Drinks are really good and interesting, and if you go for happy hour even the cocktails are very reasonably priced. Happy hour food is good, fewer options than I would like, but their regular pad thai, miang kum (spinach, dried shrimp, coconut, lime, peanuts, and ginger), and the pork wontons were probably the best.

Really good food, large potions!

By loo2you |

Visited Thai Bloom on quiet Sat evening, pretty much had the place to ourselves(it was pretty late). Beautiful dining room feels upscale with cloth napkins and crisp white plate settings. The service was wonderful, attentive but not hovering. Our diverse group felt comfortable and welcome. As you can see in the pics the potions are large and even better taste so so good! We all got our own dish, but we had plenty to share so we were able to taste everthing. Very reasonably priced!! Definitely will visit again!

Very good thai on a fun street in Portland

By saspatel |

We were drawn to Thai Bloom on 23rd Ave by the great yelp reviews and we weren't disappointed. The tom ka gai soup, pot stickers, yellow curry and ramma were all very good from our (experienced) thai tastes. We liked their use of lots of fresh vegeys in many of the dishes too.

Yes please

By Eric |

Outstanding experience and customer service. I had the hordeverve sampler and a summer noodle special. Outstanding! Delivered!

Good Food Quick service and Good taste

By Alan K |

As a late night dinner following a convention, it was a nice change of atmosphere to chill some and enjoy some really good food. The service was on the mark and the place was really busy, even at a late mid week day. The happy hour portions were adequate if you ate two and the entree, a tofu curry veggie dish was really tasty and a good portion size. Will return to this restaurant again.

Beautiful presentation of delicious food.

By Mrs H |

Great location downtown. Seven of us went for a late lunch. It was quiet, but we could watch the bustle of the street outside. Our waitress was efficient and genial. Each dish we chose lived up to our expectations, as did the presentation. We will most certainly visit Thai Bloom again when we are in Portland.

Great lunch

By Deb W |

We stopped here because of other recommendations on Tripadvisor. I'm glad we did. We had the spicy soup and ginger chicken. Wonderfully fresh and awesome flavors.

Delicious Thai Food!

By mkp64 |

Try the Panang Curry with Chicken! Very fresh tasting and nice portion size for lunch. Dined outside and received great service (I always worry that the servers will forget about us if we're not in the dining room). Can't wait to go back!

Fantastic food!

By Kristian H |

Very good food. Good service. Good prices. VERY good Drunken halibut. AND Beef on broccoli. AND the Tom yum. AND the Buddha delight. AND the Swimming Rama. We got very full. We finished it all.

Great spot for tasty Thai and cocktails

By runrabbirunn |

We found this spot shortly after arriving in Portland (we're not locals, just travelers craving Thai). The food was fantastic, albeit a bit pricey. The cocktails were also delicious and the service was speedy. We wouldn't necessarily recommend if you're on a tight budget, but they do have some great happy hour deals if you are. Great spot for friends or a date night.

Mediocre food

By borist777 |

Very average food. On the good side, service is friendly and attentive. Portions are large. Ambiance is minimal to nonexistent. Food, however, is the weakest link. Rather bland, mediocre and non-memorable. There are much better choices of thai food in the area (e.g. Eem).

Good cashew chicken

By SPD622 |

I came after reviewing trip advisor, wasn’t crowded due to the snow, however that was outstanding. I ordered the cashew chicken which was a very good portion size. I could’ve asked for more heat it was kind of my own. Great fresh vegetables and the chicken breast was delicious. Will definitely be back next time in Portland!

Yum!

By khallman1972 |

The food was delicious and the service was friendly. Highly recommend the pad thai and pineapple fried rice.

Thai one on: Great Thai Happy Hour Food!

By sexybaby7399 |

We enjoyed great Thai food and drinks at the happy hour of Thai Bloom NW. We had a Mai Tai with coconut rum and a Raspberry Slam, a Long Island tea with real raspberries in it. Both drinks were great and customer service was exemplary. We both enjoyed chicken satay and my wife enjoyed chicken pot stickers in ginger sauce and I had a very spicy dried shrimp with Thai chilis on vegetable leaves dish that would blow your socks off but was quite tasty and much more enjoyable after the first of the five and particularly when you took a bite without the Thai chili in it before devouring the rest! Try this place! It’s the best Thai food in Portland and will definitely make you want to Tai one on!

Wonderful Restaurant

By Dan W |

Thai Bloom has very good food good service and good prices. They have an excellent NW location which I love. I really like their Drunken Noodle as well a broccoli beef. Excellent selection and the service is superb. I also would like to give then a shout out for providing the food for Lan Su Chinese Garden's member appreciation night. Very thoughtful of them to provide a couple of their wonderful dishes.

Exceptional Thai !

By Dave R |

Had a amazing meal here, this is the real deal here. Every thing is fresh and made with pride. What a great value for the money. I Highly recommend this Thai place, every item on the menu is great. Go there !

Disappointing

By Douglas L |

I had heard this place was really good and so was disappointed to find out it was only average. The Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup were overcooked, and the Thai sausage was too dry. The waitress was outstanding, though, very attentive, and the restaurant was attractive and comfortable.

Terrific happy hour specials!

By Barbara M |

Such great Thai classics, including larb, spring rolls, pad Thai, and then some delicious crust duck with soft buns. Interesting cocktails as well. We got to try a lot more stuff because it was happy hour with half portions available on the cheap!

I won't be able to get a table if I tell you how great it is...

By Knitsterchick |

Everything was absolutely perfect, and Sam is the best! The Drunken Noodles are to die for, the Pineapple Curry - YUM and the Tom Kha - well you'll just have to get a bowl! Clean, friendly, and great atmosphere! Fabulous shopping district! Please save a table for me!!!

May be the best Thai we've had anywhere

By C_J_CCTx |

Thai bloom sea-wrap is exceptional. Pineapple fried rice the best anywhere - lots of veggies, cashews, raisins with wonderful flavor.

Amazing Thai Happy Hour dishes!

By KittyGritty |

We visited Thai Bloom in Northwest Portland on the advice of someone in the restaurant business. Boy, was it ever a good choice. Draft beer and house wine, $2.99!!! Wonderful Thai food choices for HH, ranging from $2.99 (delicious boiled and salted edamene-one example) to $5.99 (we both had chicken Pad Thai-wow, delicious and generous serving). We also had red curry spinach dip and HAD to have desserts-mango with sticky rice and coconut ice cream. We had to practically roll ourselves home! HH Mon-Sat, 4p to 6p, and Sunday I believe pretty much all day. We also looked at the regular dinner menu. Wonderful sounding dishes-we will return one day for dinner. Highly recommend. I will say the service was sort of confused-and it wasn't really busy. I think maybe some communication missing somewhere. The food made up for it, though.

Good food served by hospitable staff

By sbcousa |

Thai Bloom is in a good neighborhood with lots of options and seasonal specials on the menu. I enjoyed the dinner (Thai curry vegetables with rice) as well as the service.

Takeout Order

By F00d13MN |

Ordered take-out and wasn't disappointed except one thing. We ordered many things- chicken satay, cream cheese and crab, potstickers, and pad Thai. Everything was great except the pad Thai left me disappointed. I would order more from them however.

fisherman fried rice and chu siu with egg noodles

By hweelow |

We went to diner yesterday, the service was fast and good. The dishes loaded with ton of sugar. It was way too sweet like eating candies. No original Thai taste was disappeared.

Fantastic for Happy Hour and Dinner

By krenno2 |

We stopped by around 5:45pm and quickly ordered some food from the cheap and extensive happy hour menu. We then moved onto dinner and got 2 hearty meals. My noodle bowl was a huge serving for $14 and filled me up at dinner and I still took about 1/2 the meal home for a leftover meal. I would highly recommend my meal and even consider splitting it with another person and doing a couple of appetizers to share too!

Good Thai on 23rd

By Jacqueline P |

Went in by chance but loved the choices the menu offered. I took the trout on a papaya salad and that was very tasty. My friend took the lemon a d ginger duck but she found it a little tough

in love with their thai basil gimlet

By TNGsWorld |

We stopped in during happy hour. Every dish was tasty. Our waiter was great. Our table next to the window allowed for good people watching of pedestrians. Several flatscreen TVs for viewing the Olympics. Thai basil gimlet was fantastic! Only criticism would be that the sauces that accompanied the calamari, dumplings, and chicken satay were too spicy for my kids. We can always ADD chilli sauce so make the sauces less spicy. Kids' dessert took a bit too long to come out. $8 for chocolate lava cake is too much to charge.

Amazingly Delicious

By Laura Z |

The food was AMAZINGLY delicious! Chicken Pad Thai-the best and another chicken dish equally delicious Pineapple Curry, Yum!!

Amazing lunch with great Thai food

By Voyager58580413192 |

Fabulous food Outside dining Great service We are picky and this is some of the best Thai food we have had. We loved the lettuce wraps, Tom Kha soup, green papaya salad. The cashew chicken, eggplant curry and basil chicken were finger licking. The drunken noodles were delicious

Tasty

By CG D |

Had lunch in this newly opened restaurant located in trendy NW 23rd St. Our family style lunch had these dishes: Salad Rolls, Green Curry (vegetarian), Garlic Pork & Kao Sol Noodles. Very generous servings & cooked to perfection! Highly recommended.

Great Thai Food

By DD68 |

Nice homely place, good service. Good selection of Thai dishes. Had the Miang Kum Tom Yam soup and Phad Thai. Dessert was great as well.

Big portions, awesome taste

By Langerike |

My favourite pad thai, my wife's favourite green curry. Their appetizer platter is also tasty choice.

Great as always

By pat1955sf |

Dining light or 3 courses; Thai Bloom is the place for us. Great food and cocktails with prompt service. Sammy is the best. All their salads are perfect and the Lamb Shank is sublime.

you might call it "Thai Fume" after eating here (shrimp in all 4 "vegetarian" spring rolls)….

By 3waytieforlast |

relatively bland flavored Thai cuisine, mostly noodles with few vegetables, perhaps shrimp transmogrified into non-animal…?

Huge plates of good food

By beachesToronto |

We had phoned ahead and so were seated promptly. A good thing too, as this is a very popular and busy place. Our waitress was helpful and patient with us as we struggled to choose from an enormous menu. We should have asked whether the plates would be of a size suitable for one person. In my view they’re all much too big for that and should be shared. I started with a so-called Larb Salad with chicken. In my view it was seasoned minced chicken with a couple of pieces of lettuce - not a salad at all. It was also spicier than I liked. We liked our curries, and the eggplant stir fry with chicken was good.

Family

By EmmJoans |

I ate here on 11/9/18 around 7:45p while visiting family in Portland. We waited about 15 mins before we were seated, which is good considering it was a Friday evening. Our food was served within minutes of ordering. I really enjoyed the Pad Thai. My cousin and her friend ordered the curry, which they enjoyed. This is an affordable dining option with generous portions.

Try "Tektronix" soup

By Julie S |

I'm not sure why it's called Tektronix soup but it's a yummy, spicy soup with shrimp, pork and chicken. Rice noodles and veggies. Plenty for two. My favorite take-out

So-so

By Jen C |

Service was good. The pineapple curry had some interesting ingredients. But the chicken In two dishes was overdone, the tofu in another was underdone. Not many noodle options in the menu. Anticipated more spicey-heat from the food, but I am unfamiliar w the palate of Oregon, so maybe it was normal for the region.

My go to!

By Debora M |

My mouth waters just thinking about this restaurant. The food is fresh, spices add flavor without overpowering, and the customer service tops off a great meal. I don’t care for over sauced dishes or ingrediates that congeal together....this place is never has either. It’s a pleasure!!

Not so much...

By Ted W |

With all of the wonderful reviews we were sure this was going to be a hit but unfortunately, not so much. We all had different dishes and they all looked beautiful when they were brought to the table but that's pretty much where the goodness ended. My halibut was overcooked and not flavorful, the Pineapple fried rice was way over curried, the yellow curry with shrimp was lacking flavor and spice and the Drunken Noodles with chicken was just plain not good tasting. We experimented with the Thai iced tea and found it to be way too sweet but that may be on us because we'd never had it before. Service was great but we all walked away with a bad taste, literally and figuratively. Like I said, with all of the positive reviews we expected tasty food.

YUMMY with great service

By Jill S |

This is probably one of the best happy hours in Portland. In addition, all of their food is nicely prepared and served by excellent servers. My food allergies are accommodated which makes me a frequent diner there.

Vegan Options

By Fonda W |

Great food! This place is worth the drive downtown, up the hills & around the one way streets to find difficult parking! Ha!! No really, it was delicious. I was able to make all the meals vegan. I started out with the curry puffs & they were good, I’d never had anything like it. I almost got the drunken noodles but I opted for the Pad Se Ewe noodles with tofu & veggies, the flavor was mild but I’d eat it again. My favorite was the yellow curry with tofu & veggies, I loved the spice & flavor, perfection. Beware they didn’t ask for the spice level so if you don’t like spicy, you might want to speak up.

Good Surprise.

By Binky L |

Not knowing anything about this restaurant, couldn’t have been a better choice. Portions very large, we probably over ordered, nevertheless, everything was delicious.

Has become our go to restaurant

By Tom Portland |

Good selection of dishes, very good food, fair prices happy hour excellent and outstanding service most of the time (sometimes they get busy like most good restaurant. After a few visits they recognize you and make you fell at home, they pay good attention to children

Thai cuisine.

By Desmond C |

I selected Tom Yum soup which is a thai soup with mushrooms, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaf and galangil root followed by Papaya salad which purports to give 4 main tastes of Thailand. O.K. but nothing special. N.B. There is a happy hour from 8 - 9 p.m. on Monday to Thursday, but note that this does include alcohol. This happy hour is for reduced food costs which means that the diner receives smaller portions for a lower price, e.g. bean sprout salad. Does the job but not a knock out.

Affordable Happy Hour

By lubell2017 |

Emphasis on the happy. They make a great margarita and the coconut elixir was delicious. We shared a bunch of small dishes. Pad Thai, calamari, chicken satay, dancing shrimp & orange ribs. All had great flavor.

Carefully prepared & delicious

By Patti C |

We picked the best restaurant for lunch while shopping on NW 23rd. Thai Bloom is spacious with a very nice atmosphere. The service and food were perfect. My friend enjoyed her Larb salad and my Panang curry was great! I love that I could choose brown rice and that the curry was exactly as described, and served in a bowl separate from the rice. I'm eager to return and I will!

Amazing thai food

By Ally Johnson |

Everything was amazing - the food, service, and atmosphere. We were obsessed with my coconut broth noodle dish. Absolutely recommended if you like coconut milk based sauces. In an area with many Thai spots, this one stands out. This place is one of many reasons I wish I lived in Portland.

I won't get a table if I tell you how great it is!

By thaigirllily |

Everything is absolutely excellent , and Sam is amazing! The Drunken Noodles are to die for! Pineapple Curry - YUM! Clean, friendly, great atmosphere!! Fabulous shopping district! Please save a table for me!!!'

Best thai food ever

By Anuja |

This is my favorite top pick amongst the portland restaurants. Best thai food ever. I miss this so much as we moved to chicago. Live their pineapple fried rice, cashew stir fry with tofu, pad thai...so many options for vegeterians too. Love love it!!!

A Place to enjoy exceptional Thai Dishes

By Juan R |

After three visits I thought it worthy of a Very Good ranking. The dishes are light, not sugary, fresh ingredients, and an excellent combination of flavors that transcend the everyday Thai family restaurant. I would like to highlight the soups which are delightful. If you are in the neighborhood during Happy Hour the menu it is worth a visit as well. In addition the NW Alphabet shopping and entertainment district provides many places for after dinner walk or shopping.

Yummy food well-presented

By 27christa |

We arrived for a week-night dinner and had the combination appetizer, which was perfect for two people to try an assortment. Then my husband had the Tom Yum bowl and I had a seasonal crab pad thai. They were wonderful and such large portions that we boxed up enough for a complete second meal the next day. My only criticism is with the three large-screen TVs above the bar. One showed a rotating view of the menu items, which was fine, but the other two were showing baseball and football. I usually look forward to enjoying a simple tranquility in the atmosphere of most Thai-food restaurants, and I thought the large-screen TVs were disruptive.

Good Thai food delivered to our door

By cathyandben |

This would be a good bet for Thai food. We ordered in three times and were always pleased with the food and it was delivered at the time promised.

Fantastic evening at Thai Bloom.

By Georgi R |

Fantastic evening at Thai Bloom. The crab and cream cheese wontons were incredible, especially once dipped in the plum sauce. We also enjoyed the Chicken Pad Prik, Prawn Panang Curry and the Drunken noodles. Portions were plentiful and the mains all included jasmine rice. The service was amazing we would definitely return time and time again!

Really good curry.

By Todd S |

The spring roll appetizer was good... not exceptional. The yellow curry was really good... not quite as spicy as I would like, but very flavorful!

Visiting

By Billiecruns |

So yummy. We actually hit happy hour. Totally cheap prices and big portions. Be careful how much you order:). So wonderful. Glad we found it.

Upscale Thai

By Marlynne P |

We were happy with all of the food. The curries are rich and not watery. We were surprised by the beautiful seafood fried rice. It was covered with a large assortment of flash fried seafood and quite a nice entree.

Wonderful Thai food!

By pmain58 |

We visit Portland every few months and each time over the last year we've eaten at Thai Bloom. Not only is the food incredible, the wait staff are personable and happy each and every time we visit. Happy hour is a great way to try a number of Thai dishes. Thanks Donnie, our waiter, for always taking great care of us. We will continue to visit each and every time we are in Portland.

An Absolute Must !

By Following JoJo |

Lets make this one simple. I travel in and out of Thailand a few months a year. I just got back 2 weeks ago from a month long trip from the northern Boarder to the Southern tip... The food here at Thai Bloom is 100% on point. It's authentic Thai Food in a classy and comfortable setting with great prices, friendly staff, awesome bar tender (I ate at the bar) and the Tom Kha/ Tom Kha Ki is award winning, with outstanding flavor. ( sorry no photos, I was too busy enjoying my food)

Nice Thai, attentive service

By Jordan F |

We came here on my brother's recommendation and it was a satisfying visit. The food is fresh and the service is friendly and attentive. What we chose was quite good, and I doubt you could go far wrong even if you chose things randomly off the menu. I would recommend the pad siew, spicy wings and the larb (we got the chicken, but I can't imagine the tuna one being a bad choice). I got one of the Thai basil gimlets while we were there, too, and that was pretty nice.

No service

By Igetaroundtowntoo |

We were sat promptly upon arriving. But that is all. We drank the water we were given. And we waited. And waited. And waited. There were only one or two tables inside and a few outside. At least one employee per table, so I see no reason why no one offered us some food? Oh well. Maybe, hopefully this isn't par for the 'course'

Lovely staff good food. Not suitable for Vegetarians or Vegans.

By Amber H |

Even though items had the V next to the dish, you could taste the fish sauce. Companion thoroughly loved his meal and has been talking about it since.

Late night dinner with family.

By Woodcrest55129 |

Our family dropped by for a late dinner after a day of traveling. Cashew stir fry, pineapple curry, and a asparagus salad (seasonal). All were good and with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Excellent service. We have eaten at one of their other locations.

New version of a great place to go. One of our favorites!

By Seat_2B |

Thai Bloom recently opened their 2nd location on NW 23rd. Highly recommend it! Food is excellent. Happy hour is a treat accompanied by generous portions. Ninkasi IPA and Stella for $3. Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai are great. The Beef or Glass Noodle Salads are fantastic. Thai fired rice nice to the last drop. Seek this place out you will not be disappointed. Their first restaurant is located in Beaverton if you are in that area.

Excellent Thai and quite unique

By YEl |

I had the best Tom Kha I have ever eaten here. Pumpkin curry and crispy pumpkin salad were excellent winter specials.

Walker Family

My family and I went there for dinner and sat outside. The atmosphere was really nice, quick service and delicious, fresh food.

One of the best Thai places in the area!

By Elly D |

I had lunch with a friend here. We decided to sit outside since the weather was beautiful. We started off with their crab wontons, which were nicely crisp and generously stuffed; the sweet honey-like dip went really well with them. Then, came our main dishes: Crab Pad Thai and Pad Prik King with Prawns, which were nicely portioned. I've never tried the latter before, but it was probably one of the best Thai dishes I've ever had! The dish was exploding with flavor and perfectly spiced—I ordered it just as it was, which wasn't overwhelmingly spicy. The chopped kaffir leaves made it all the more delightful. I tried my friend's Pad Thai and that was great as well—I've never witnessed such a liberal portion of crab! Of course, I had to top off this wonderful meal with a refreshing Thai iced tea. Also, service was on the spot. I will definitely be returning!

A large Thai Resto

By 727elisc |

I was surprised to find a large restaurant serving authentic Thai food in Portland The servings are large and we ordered too many dishes and the quality is very good. The Blooming fish was fantastic They have seating outside as well as inside and the ambiance is good and friendly.

Absolutely love their food

By Betty V |

Been to Thai Bloom several times, even more than twice a week at times. Being vegetarian the choice of dishes is limited yet always five-star-delicious. No matter if takeout or dine-in, gotta love this place. Great service at all times, even when showing up 5min prior to their closure to order takeout food.

Simply the best!

By localCOASTAL |

We've been here twice lately, just my husband and myself and then we treated our adult sons. Everything was wonderful and the service is friendly and prompt. The food was clearly freshly made and absolutely delicious. I had the eggplant stirfry with tofu and brown rice, my husband had Drunken noodles with tofu (both vegetarian), and our sons had Crying Tiger (omnivorous) and yellow curry with tofu (vegan). The beef vanished in a snap and everyone got what they liked.

Excellent Thai food

By lmdallas |

Very nice decor.Excellent Thai food-loved their sauces. Appetizers great . Excellent friendly and professional service. Wishe we lived in Portland so we could return.

Excellent food and portion

By MeenaB |

Excellent food and portion sizes..they also have a happy hour on weekdays, Friday’s and Saturdays from 9-10 pm and all day Sunday’s. Lot of options in the happy hour menu, and good portion sizes too. Their wine collection is also decent with local wines and some California wines.

Good food but not really thai

By reviewatitsbest |

I may be a bit spoiled when it comes to thai food this is why i want to give the feedback, that i believe the taste was a bit too much adapted to local requirements. But thai is soooo special so i want to have that special taste in every thai place i go. Food was good and staff friendly.

Great experience

Everything about this experience was great. Quick to get seated, great service and delicious food. Definitely would return again!

crispy trout and mango salad

By Chuck C |

After a lot of walking, found this place for an early solo dinner. Trout salad and a side of rice. Singha beer. Skin was nice, don't forget to enjoy it too! A bit too much mango and overall a bit sweet. By the end, I was getting a bit tired of the flavor. Service was excellent and quick.

Decent Thai food in NW

By Ken C |

Meal consisted of a starter - Thai Bloom! Sausage - and a main - Crab Pad Thai - with a beer - Ninkasi Total Domination IPA. The two sausages were tasty, and with the ginger and peppers, really great. Onions and cabbage were helpful, but cutting the cabbage a chore with fork or spoon. Different flavor profile for the crab pad thai - nice and hot, good blend of flavors, crab was a surprisingly nice addition. More food than I could eat, and was delicious cold the following day. And the IPA was a good match for both plates. Service by a gentleman I'd assume was the owner, attentive and pleasant.

Don't Miss Best Thai in NW Portland

By PortlandTravlin_man |

Things started out a little quiet for this second location of Thai Bloom in NW Portland. But now things are hoping. After many of the former Typhoon folks opened Thai Bloom in Beaverton, the Beaverton location became an instant success. This second location continues to put out great Thai food...and that is from a foodie who has had two long travel expeditions through Thailand. The Panang chicken curry is the best you will ever have and the Pad Ped Beef with Green Peppercorn packs quite the heat. The chicken larb salad is refreshing with the right blend of tang, heat and sweet. Parking in the rear after 5:30, which is very nice since parking around NW 23rd is really tough.

Just like food in Bangkok and Phuket

By Eugene F |

There were dishes I had eaten in Thailand that I couldn't find among the many Thai restaurants in Portland...then I visited Thai Bloom! The five of us each had different dishes, and every one was excellent. And, the quantities were large enough that three of us took food home. We also had a variety of drinks and enjoyed the imagination that inspired them. The service was excellent and the prices were very good with the tab being less than $100 with drinks for the entire group. I will definitely return.

Favorite Portland Thai Restaurant

By Sue PB |

I have been going to Thai Bloom since they opened. Everything is authentically spiced (you can ask for mild, medium or hot). Their coconut soup is out of this world. When my kids are home from college this is a must! Staff are friendly and courteous. Always a great experience.

Soooo yummy lunch

By mikenmaurya |

Food - 5 stars Service 3.5 stars - only because 2 of the 3 meals came out about 7-10 minutes before the third meal made it out. (I normally like the Thai way of bringing out food as it is completed and hot, but having to wait so much longer for my meal made it not as pleasant. And me eating too much fried rice while waiting!... It was excellent fried rice though!) Flavour of the food was top notch.

Lovely happy hour!

By travelgirl282 |

We always go there during weekend and love the hours and food selection. Beautiful setting and good service.

Finally the Typhoon void has been filled in NW!

By MeAgain8 |

The closure of Typhoon on NW 23rd a few years back let us wandering aimlessly for a new NW Portland favorite Thai restaurant without strip mall ambiance. Admittedly, this visit was just for take out, but I can say it was among the best Thai food I've had anywhere (and I spent 2 weeks in Thailand last summer). The house was full and vibrant on a Sunday night - great positive energy! Additionally, even though I had a short wait for my take out, I was graciously offered somewhere to wait and brought water. Although I haven't been, they have a sister location on Cedar Hills Blvd which might be easier parking-wise for take out. I'm looking forward to actually dining-in in the very near future! Well done!

Excellent Thai food

By metrochica |

We had dinner at Thai Bloom and really liked it. In fact, we wish we had been more hungry before we went. The portions are very large. I got the orange chicken special not expecting two chicken breasts worth of food. It was fantastic. My husband got drunken noodles which he liked and luckily had room to help me with my dish. The place was packed and I think it was a Tuesday night. You could tell lots of locals eat there.

A great Find..and delicious surprise!

By Mary M |

We just happened on this restaurant while shopping on fun 23rd street in Northwest Portland on a busy Christmas shopping evening. We were welcomed in to this cozy spot and proceeded to enjoy a delicious dinner.. The orders are well prepared and tasty..the wait staff is wonderful...Don't order too much as the portions are generous..A good place to try several dishes with someone to share with you... A delightful addition to a fun evening...

First Time Delight

By Dan G |

My wife, granddaughter and I had dinner after locating the restaurant on TA. It was excellent and a cut above the normal Asian restaurant.

delicious food, great happy hour

By EasyGoingTraveler007 |

dined here on our first day of a vacation to Portland. Delicious spring roll appetizers, fried rice and cashew chicken. beautiful presentation and chai tea, not too sweet.

Amazing meal!

By RPMNashua_NH |

Wow, I had an amazing dining experience at Thai Bloom. The service was great, which included very friendly wait staff. The ambience was pristine but comfortable. I had the Massaman Lamb Shank dish, which was nothing short of incredible! Probably one of the best meals that I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a lot of good meals in my day. It was cooked to perfection, and the presentation was beautiful. The taste was just great. Given the level of service, ambience and quality of food, the prices are very reasonable. Wow, I suggest that you don't miss out on this place if you have the opportunity to dine here!

Thai Curries

By Greenweiz |

Good location on NW 23rd. Food is generally good but service is sluggish and little confused. Tofu and Veggie Soup and Drunken Noodles were quite good.

Delicious Food during Happy Hour

By AcornOwl |

We needed to have an early dinner, so we came here at 5pm and were able to order off the Happy Hour menu. Same great food but smaller portions (and smaller cost). It was plenty of food for us and we will definitely come back. It was a mild evening, so we sat outside and felt very safe. The tables were socially distanced and all wait staff and most customers, had masks.

Thai Chai Tea!

By SDB |

Very good food, the staff is okay and the restaurant is good located. You can find there a good Thai Chai Tea that is not easy to find...

Great Happy Hour!

By Timothy T |

All day on Sunday! Tasty food at great price! Great value. Was first person on the bar, but by the time I left it was full.

Big portions of excellent food

By DewPortland |

We ordered four different main dishes and shared. We had two appetizers that were big enough to be a main dish: Chicken satay, and fresh spring rolls. Green curry, pad Thai ,red curry, pot roast in satay sauce, rice, and brown rice made up our lunch. All were big portions of outstanding food. Service was attentive and prompt. We shall return!!!

Best Thai food we’ve had outside of Thailand

By LUDWIG_Wayfarer |

Strolling along 23rd St. in the quaint and busy Nob hill neighborhood in Portland on a Sunday evening, we were looking for place to eat and decided on Thai Bloom. The restaurant is a great mix of modern chic hip and Thai culture. Though very busy, it was not so loud as to make conversation difficult. The excellent service was prompt, courteous and jovial. They also have a good selection of reasonably priced beers and ales. We ordered from the happy hour menu, which is of excellent value with tapas that are closer to full plates in size. Our selection included the Pad Thai, Chicken Satay, Beef Salad and Orange Ribs. We had both been to Thailand on several occasions but had somehow never been able to find Thai food in North America that was as good as that in Thailand. However, after the first few bites at Thai Bloom, we both agreed, this was the best Thai food we’ve eaten anywhere. The food was tasty and fresh, without any artificial sort of taste. We would certainly go back the next time we’re in Portland.

One of the best Thai Restaurants in Portland

By 912johannac |

Excellent food. Gracious service. Good location, with parking behind the restaurant off the side street. Try their Crab Pad Thai. Peanut sauce. Yellow curry. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented. There's always more than enough to take leftovers home.

Great food and value

By toddoballs132002 |

We ate here on a recent trip to Portland, food was very flavorful and one of the better Thai places we have been. Great service and we were lucky we were there during happy hour coincidentally so the prices were great. Definitely recommended

Fine if you just want some Thai food but nothing extraordinary

By PatriciaG-CA |

I was walking around 23rd doing some shopping and was hungry so popped in here. It was okay. I had the tom kha soup which was a little gritty and not much flavor, to start. Next I had the chicken with Thai basil - this was good. Nice flavor, nice heat. All in all it was okay but nothing noteworthy.

Still amazing food

By Susan C |

Thai Bloom used to be Typhoon. They closed overnight several years ago and i went through a painful withdrawal. Then some of the staff reopened and i am in heaven. What they can do to Tom Kai soup and green curries and green beans and Pad Thai ... and 100 other things is truly magical. I saved my WW points for a week!

Fun place with lots of interesting food options

By sandbg |

We liked Thai Bloom and the wait staff was welcoming and helpful, but not every dish was great. We enjoyed the fried rice much more than the unusual happy hour small plates. Those are hard to share due to size. Potstickers were good as well. Pad Thai was too sweet for my liking. Ordering off the regular menu is more the way to go. Happy hour is all day Sunday. Overall a fun and good place for Thai food.

Yummy Thai on a fun street in Portland!

By Rayyy2014 |

If you are wanting a good Thai restaurant on a fun street of shops, pubs, and restaurants, then you have found the right place! Here's some dish reviews: - The pad thai was great! Soooo much food and so yummy. Make sure you ask for the spicy chili paste on the side if you like it spicyyyy! - Basil jasmine fried rice is a good choice too. Make sure to get it with the thai fried egg (If you don't know what that is, don't fret, neither did I! It's a sunny side up fried egg with super crispy edges.) or it's not worth getting! - Although the salad rolls were recommended on Yelp, I was a little disappointed. They are mostly filled with rice noodles with very little vegetables. Still a good dish with the peanut dipping sauce though. Service -- Great! No complaints. Ambiance -- It's alight. If you're only in town for a bit and want to experience a "keeping Portland weird" kind of restaurant ambiance then I would suggest you find a restaurant with a cooler atmosphere.

Good Thai in cute neighborhood

By Tim L |

We ordered take out from this restaurant our last night in Portland. They forgot to give us our Ice Cream, but I forgive them because the food was so good.

Great food and caring service

By Kelsey T |

We happened to stumble by this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. We happened to be starving and we also happened to have our dog with us. My husband went inside and asked if we could sit out front since we had our dog with us. The manager/owner unlocked all the tables, sat us, and even brought us water for our pooch! The owner was extremely friendly, kind, and had lots of advice on the menu. He suggested a tea and soup for me based on me feeling sorta sick... The food was excellent and very flavorful. We will go back often. Thank you for the great service and food, Thai Bloom!

Late Night Happy Hour!

By materago |

This late night happy hour is apparently a Portland thing, I like it! Discounts on a good variety of dishes. We had the calamari, Pineapple Curry and Drunken Noodles, all delicious

Great thai presented beautifully

By Sheila R |

During a recent visit to Portland to visit friends, they recommended we eat at Thai Bloom so here we went. The restaurant is in a very nice area. This was a party of 8, 4 adults and 4 tweens. We all ordered different selections and they were all delicious and beautifully plated. Portions were big so our friends had some yummy leftovers to go. We didn't order dessert here because our friends suggested we try the ice cream store Salt and Straw down the street, but our friends did say their desserts are good too.

Variety of choices with cocktails

By donnaoracion |

Clean restaurant with good service and lots of choices in a nice neighborhood. A variety of cocktails are also on the menu.

A really good meal

By Mayatravels |

Thai Bloom is a great place to come for dinner. The menu offers a large variety of dishes, some more familiar than others, service is very friendly and prices are reasonable. The food is surprisingly good and there is even a nice selection of cocktails and glasses of wine. Outside seating was also available during the warm summer day we were there.

Tasty Food, Generous Portion, Fair Price -- About a 4.5

By BallardBeaver |

I wandered in for a solo visit and ordered pumpkin curry with chicken, sticky rice and a Tiger beer. They brought me both regular jasmine rice and the sticky rice. The curry was tasty, with a generous amount of chicken. The sticky rice was of a good texture -- not always guaranteed at Thai places in the U.S. Lots of leftovers for one person -- took it home and got a full lunch the next day and an entrée for dinner, so three meals for the price of one. Very Good+, but not quite "Exceptional".

By Bill T |

Our family was visiting Portland for the first time. It was a 95 degree day and after checking in to our rooms we searched for cold drinks and good food. The Thai Bloom answered our wishes. Starting with allowing short notice reservations on a Friday eve. The window view allowed for gorgeous sight of the busy city activity on 23rd. The quick seating and drink orders were the best. Excellent selection of cocktails and wines. Our appetizers and entrees were served hot and generous. Unfortunately we couldn't eat more but dessert menu looked great. You will not be disappointed if you select the Thai Bloom.

Vibrant Flavors - Great Service

By RobbieDavison |

We were a group of three and arrived on a Sunday at about 3pm. The place was full and buzzing with activity, yet we were seated right away. Drink orders were taken quickly - and actually delivered quickly - We ordered Salad Rolls (appys) and then the Ginger Chicken, Tofu Pad Thai, and Tofu Drunken Noodles which we all shared. We could not have been happier. The flavors just popped and the portions were ample. The tofu was soft and creamy. The smell of everything cooking was amazing and the atmosphere was open/urban-feeling and upscale'ish without being snooty. We had a great time and plan to return. Jaw-watering -good!

Buddha's Delight delights

By Pdxpizzaboy |

Stopped today for a quick lunch at the relatively new Thai Bloom on NW 23rd. Located across the street from Willam-Sonoma in a low one story building known to have been a restaurant graveyard, this Thai restaurant has been well renovated in the last year or so. Even now the long bar is being remodeled. I ordered the Buddha's Delight with chicken. The dish was wonderful. Lots of veggies with mushrooms and mini-corn prominent. I added a limited amount of spicy condiments to give it a kick. Service was attentive; the cleanliness was excellent. I will be returning with my wife who is a spicy Thai food addict!

Fun late lunch with friends!

By Shirazi35 |

Great food, great service, great price and great company! We went there last Sunday, which is a perfect day to go there for happy-hour that lasts all day. The happy-hour menu selection is really good; and you will not be disappointed with food portion! Thai Bloom offers happy-hour everyday between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm as well as 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. It is a very great place to visit for any occasion any day and anytime. Have fun and eat in a good health.

highly recommend

By Wendy W |

I had one of the seasonal specials, the pumpkin curry, it was wonderful. My waiter was attentive and pleasant.

Pretty good

By Kelsey L |

Nothing to call home and rave about but pretty good. Food just lacked flavor. Place was clean and the wait staff was nice as well.

Pineapple curry fried rice is a winner

By Joanne S |

Our server was unhelpful and nearly nonexistent, but our meals were outstanding. The pineapple friend rice with prawns was both beautiful and delicious (not too much curry). It was more than we could eat in one sitting and less than $10.

Excellent!

By V5216RCjank |

I stopped with my wife for dinner. Sitting outside on 23rd street on a fine June evening was perfect. Seasonal specials were superb. Ahi Larb and Crab Pad Thai both great- full of many flavors and prepared well. Service was also excellent.

A happy surprise

By Tabinosorakara |

We just walked into a Sunday happy hour. They have the happy hour menu all day on Sundays. The food menu is extensive $2.99 to $6.99. $6.99 dishes had good meal portions. Tom yum soup was tasty and very spicy. Spiny chicken w basil was excellent. My daughter ordered from dinner menu: ginger chicken. Yum! There were many girls sharing dishes and they all looked great. The service was excellent too. We will return for sure.

Excellent Thai Food, Great Location!

By Heather V |

We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here! We enjoyed drunken noodles, gai yang, and another noodle dish (the name escapes me) and everything was perfect. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. We chose to sit outdoors on the street and were accosted by a vagrant although that's not the fault of the restaurant. Just keep that in mind if you decide on outside. Can't wait till we're back in the area so we can eat there again!

Lovely dining room; good food and service

By ) NWTraveler99 |

This is a lovely spot for Thai food in the heart of the NW 23d Avenue shopping district. The dining room is bright and airy, with big windows looking over the street. The food is first class, and the service is always warm and friendly. There is an unhurried atmosphere, with enough table spacing and sense of quality time to encourage a relaxed meal. Highly recommended.

Thai to die for!

By CheleAshton |

Thai food is everywhere in Portland. If you are in the Alphabet district this one is outstanding! The duck was to die for as well as the green curry chicken. We had so many dishes I can't remember them all but my hips will forever! Anything and I mean anything on the menu is really, really good. I've been here before and it doesn't disappoint.

Not a place for lunch if you work!

By BarefootBuddies |

Very long wait for food and check, in fact, our server never checked in with us once we got our food. Although she was very nice. The parang curry with veggies and tofu was good. Spicy but not too much! The ginger chicken got left as it was bland.

Always a treat!

By CookingwithMary |

From the moment we step inside, we are so glad to be at Thai Bloom. The service is impeccable, friendly, and welcoming. For the budget conscious, you can't find a better happy hour menu. The food is delicately cooked, nicely presented, well portioned, and very tasty. No wonder it's a popular place!

Very Tasty Food at Reasonable Prices

By BigIsleFoodie |

There were 6 in our group, so we ordered a lot of different dishes. Especially good were the calamari and various noodle dishes (drunken noodles and Pad Nam). Very reasonable prices. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Flavor, flavor, flavor!

By Lovey13 |

We sat at the bar and had some great food! Brittany was great, bringing us good food and making solid suggestions to try. Everything tasted fantastic. My meal came out a little late, so they brought me fresh spring rolls to tide me over- on the house! We felt well cared for, and we're stuffed by the end of our meal. This is a gem, not just because of the food, but also because of the service. If this is how they treat their lunch customers, I can only imagine the care they take with their dinner guests!

Home delivery

Amazing pad thai and tofu. There is a wide range of options. Also the rolls are great. Not cheap but worth it. Everything was really tasty.

Good lunchtime "happy hour"

By PBCinEngland |

Reduced menu choice and keener pricing for competently cooked food, tamed for the more sensitive palates of the local clientele. Pleasant setting with some outdoor seating.
