Best Thai ever!

By Anish S |

We were here for lunch on a Thursday afternoon! The place was packed tight, took a couple of minutes to get a table for two. They have the lunch specials everyday, 11$ per person which includes a soup, egg rolls and a main course. I had the green beans & chicken, my friend had the pad Thai. I’d rate mine 5/5 and she did 4/5 cause the pad Thai was a little too oily. Ambience = decent Service = fast & responsive My only complaint was with the cutlery, I thought they were a little dirty. Had to change them twice.

Very Good Thai Restaurant

By 808MikeN |

It doesn't look much from outside, but interior has some redeeming quality. I think it's a BYOB restaurant if you'd like to bring your favorite. Food and service are very good: perhaps egg rolls were too greasy, but ginger chicken was excellent with generous serving. Spring rolls looked very good on my neighbor's table. If you like Thai food, you must try this place.

Understated Excellence

By bobemac |

This little place looks like a hole in the wall and it's on Blanco Road in a transitional area just South of Jackson Keller. Inside there are lots of hungry and happy folks. The food is very good, maybe the best Thai we've had in town. Our server was fast and efficient. I had the Panang Curry and there was a lot of sliced white chicken breast with red pepper, carrots, and onions in an amazing curry sauce. They add two tasty spring rolls and the daily soup was vegetable with tofu. My BW had the garlic chicken. This entree came with broccoli, carrots, and steamed rice. It had excellent flavor. Each entree was $7.95 and they were a good value. It's tough in this area, because there's no shortage of good Thai food restaurants.

Great food

By Wesley L |

Another restaurant that we went to based on my daughter's recommendation. Well worth the visit. A little hole in the wall place serving authentic Thai food. Everything we tried was incredible and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Great experience. Don't let the location fool you.

Excellent Traditional Thai

By Rick P |

Broad menu of traditional and fusion Thai cuisine. Thai family owned and operated. Casual and relaxed dining atmosphere. The staff is attentive and friendly. Overall great experience, give this hole in the wall restaurant a chance, you will not be disappointed.

Dont judge a book by its cover...

By Gypsy P |

If i wouldnt have been taken there by a local San Antonio resident, i would have never gone in...this best kept secret and its great!!! I enjoyed the food, service and the prices were reasonable. In all honesty, it looks like a "hole" in the wall, dont let that fool you...inside is cozy, ornate and theres not much seating but they turn tables quickly. The food is so worth it! No liquor sold, but its BYOB (bring your own booze). hint: theres a convience store next door that sell wine, beer

Best pad Thai

By Leslie N |

I always go here for the best pad Thai. Comes with a crisp egg roll at lunch. Is a very large portion.

Lunch Perfection

By Matt S |

It's not much to look at from the outside but the food inside is excellent. I've tried more than 5 different lunch dishes and all have been delicious. My go to though is the Kee Mao....EXCELLENT! and it comes with soup and two springs roles. Well worth the price! Enjoy!

What’s not to love?

By Emzy K |

Simply awesome. Family owned and operated, always great service and consistently great food. If the exterior scares you off so much the better for those of us in the know. Pad Woodsen and Kherson Mao are two of my favorites. Love, love, love this place.

Excellent Hole-In-The-Wall Thai

By peterpasquier |

Don't let the outside appearance or street construction deter you from this legit Thai experience. As per usual, I had fresh spring rolls followed by green curry (Thai hot!) with chicken. The spring roll interior was delicious, though I must say I was thrown off my what amounted to a tortilla wrap in lieu of rice paper. The green curry had, without exaggeration, the best Thai basil I've had. If I had to find a fault, the chicken could have been cut smaller, but that is really splitting hairs. The place was packed at 18:00, with people waiting to be seated. The secret is apparently out, so get in early.

Surprisingly Real Thai in San Antonio

By Pd946 |

I’ve been to Thailand many times and my friends discovered this place. The exterior to a bit disconcerting, but the restaurant is true Thai and excellent. We go back we we get hungry for Thai food.

Very Good Thai

By VonClimax |

Great food, nice service. Everything on the menu can be made vegetarian. They have a lunch special that is reasonable and quick, though the special comes with soup that is not always vegetarian friendly.

Authentic Thai

By Lizzy S |

The food at Thai Dee is truly authentic. My family vacations in Thailand and throughout Asia and I can tell you from experience, this is the real deal. Start with chicken satay or fried squid, try one of the curry dishes, and finish with an delicious scoop of coconut ice cream with sweet sticky rice. I live in New Orleans now and I haven't been able to find anything this tasty here.

BEST Red Curry in San Antonio!

By Jeanne C |

I have eaten there for years and while the small parking lot is a drawback, the food is top notch! My go-to is red curry with extra vegetables and either chicken or shrimp , and my husband's is green curry with extra veggies.... Consistantly perfect. Never disappoints. Staff is very friendly and attentive. If you cannot find a parking spot just go across the street to Furniture For a Cause.... Plenty of parking!

HIDDEN DELIGHT

By mspatron |

Don't let the current construction work stop you from going here, it is worth the drive. The parking is tight but it's doable. The staff is very friendly, willing to change the menu or substitute items if needed, open with recommendations. We had the green curry and the pad thai . I had stop eating pad thai because many of the thai restaurants i have been to the noodles were tossed to death, not this one. Each noodles was perfectly coated with the sauce, light tasting, shrimp perfectly cooked Fantastic The curry had great flavor, perfectly cooked chicken, the grren beans crisp. I plan to let anyone of my friends coming to San Antonio to stop here for some amazing thai food

Delicious summer roll and green curry

By bomberrazor |

This place is packed day and night and its easy to see why, food is excellent and so is the price. Will be back soon

Interesting new tastes for me

By Isaac M |

I had never eaten Thai before, so I ordered the Red curry chicken at the waiters recommendation. My compadres ordered Angry ocean and the tofu peanut curry. Appetizer Pork (Moo Ping?) was AMAZING!!, but I was really not a fan of the Red curry. It reminded me too much of black licorice flavor, which I do not like. The sticky rice was hard, but the normal rice was good. Banana spring rolls were good, could have had a little spice like cinnamon. I agree that the place could use another waitress; they were attentive but too busy to get refills very often. Prices were not bad really either. Overall, a pretty good restaurant.

Excellent

Don't let the exterior fool you. Great service. Great food. Clean restaurant.

Terrible Example of Thai

By Michelle S |

Went here on a Friday night about 8pm. The place was very crowded. We were seated quickly but there were people that came after us that got waited on before us and had their meals before we even ordered ours! I don't know what was going on with the wait staff but they looked confused and brought us another tables meal and had to be waived down to get any service. The food wasn't good either. Everything tasted like soy sauce was dumped on it. The spicy chicken my husband ordered came in a bowl of red sauce like soup. It wasn't even good. I've eaten at many thai places in San Antonio, and this is the worst. Do not go here! Go to Thai Corner or Thai house for really good thai food.

"The most authentic place"

By Michelle C |

We were told about this place by the head manager of La Mansion when he asked where we were headed. We said Thai. He said "Thai Dee - my Thai friend says it's the most authentic place in SA" We have tried a few Thai places here. This is by far my new favorite. The food is delicious & plentiful, with the most authentic menu choices. It's a small place & parking is very limited, however we found the turnaround to be pretty quick. We did have to wait for a parking spot to open up, but not long. I had basil noodles w beef - very flavorful & the "medium" spicy level was the perfect amount of spice for me (just a few jalapeño slices). My SO had the chicken pad Thai, also medium, but he likes a bit more spice so he used the very flavorful chili sauce they provide to amp up his level, although they will make it more spicy, if you specify. His pad Thai was also quite flavorful - he ate most of his because it was just that good. We will return.

Amazing food

By Yorka V |

This place is a gem. Don't be deceived by the outside, food and service are truly amazing. Excellence is consistent here, no matter what day or time you go, food is delicious.

Horrible!

By Erika S |

Did not like the pad thai at all! It was very sweet and gross and made me nauseous. Fiancé ordered the Tom kha soup which was good and some type of beef plate with chili powder which was decent. When we got there, we were sat next to the wall with other couples-felt very crowded when the rest of the room was empty. We also had to wait about 5-10 minutes for the waiter to take our order while they stood around talking and eating. Will not be going back!

Lunch

By Kevin N |

Food was great. Spicy if you want it. Lunch special is awesome. Would definitely recommend it for you to try.

Must try!

By Texas1980 |

The food seriously rocks! Everything we've tried at Thai Dee has been great. Service is excellent and you can't beat the prices. This place is also BYOB, so feel free to bring a nice bottle of wine and save a bundle. We had an app, two full meals and desert for $25! My boyfriend and I drive out of the way to dine at Thai Dee, it's worth it!

Everything tasted delicious

By Sam M |

We were a group of 10 and everybody ordered different things and all dishes were excellently prepared.

Authentic Thai

By guitarspeak |

Not only good authentic Thai food but also the atmosphere. Though its in s strip mall you'll forget once youve been inside awhile. Very nice. Good curry.

Really good Thai food, great service.

By trip2where |

A little scary looking from the outside and parking is limited, it was a fifteen minute wait to get a table but the food is fantastic! We started with the Crab Rangoon appetizer, wantons stuffed with cream cheese and crab meat then fried to perfection. For entrees we had Pad Thai, Pad See Ewe, Fried Rice and Pepper Steak. As is our family's custom, we all tried each other's dishes. Every one of them was delicious, with a perfect balance of spices and savory sauces. Additionally, the service is great too. All of the staff work together to ensure that tables are kept cleared of empty dishes, that drinks are refilled and that the food is served promptly and hot. This place is a hit!!!

Good Thai food

By roropatel27 |

Good Thai food, tried the pad kee mow and green curry. Both were delicious - definitely great for take out

Solid neighborhood Thai...

By Kent C |

Solid neighborhood Thai, cheap.

Amazingly Fresh

By kande12 |

This Thai restaurant is the real deal! Everything I have ordered is fresh and delicious!!! Tom Yum soup, yellow curry, masaman curry, summer rolls, basil chicken, coconut ice cream with sticky rice...everything is amazing. The restaurant is small. There is no waiting area and it is usually very busy. Go early for dinner to get a table. They don't serve any alcohol, but you can bring your own and they will provide the set-up. Not a great place kids unless they are well behaved and enjoy Thai food. The service is good but the food is THE BEST!

We LOVED everything about it

By Earthtokarmen |

Don't be thrown off by the exterior, once you enter the door you will be transported to a delicious and friendly place :) My boyfriend, my two-year old daughter and I went to Thai Dee on a Saturday night. We ordered the satay for an appetizer and really enjoyed the spicy dipping sauce. For my meal, I ordered Beef Panang Noodles. The curry sauce is DELICIOUS. I will be licking it out of the bottom of my take-out box :) My boyfriend ordered Moo Ping for his meal. The peanut sauce wasn't the best I've ever had but still very good. The service was outstanding. Everyone in the restaurant was very friendly and checked with us multiple times to make sure everything was to our liking. We will definitely go back.

Excellent choice for authentic Thai food.

By southtexastraveller |

Whatever you do, do not let the location fool you. This little restaurant in a non discript locale offers some fine Thai cuisine. This place was recommended by a friend from San Antonio several years ago and we try to make this place a top choice when in the area. When you enter the place you get the feel that locals are the ones who frequent the place the most. In January 2014, we decided to make this place one of our top restaurants once again. My wife had the chicken fried rice and I had the Lemon grass chicken. The flavor of my plate was exquisite - truly. My wife although not much for Asian foods absolutely loves their chicken fried rice. The chicken in her platter was flavorful and juicy. My only regret was to not take a picture of our food. So, if you're into Thai food and happen to be in the area, make this a bucket list. I truly doubt you'll be disappointed.

BOTH OF US GOT SICK IMMEDIATELY AFTER EATING HERE

By JohnJosephSAT |

Other reviewers are quite right--it may look like a dive on the outside, but the interior is really surprisingly attractive. My dinner companion and I arrived about 7:30 PM on a busy Saturday. The place was packed and we only had to wait 15 or 20 minutes. The young Thai servers were all very friendly, efficient, helpful, pleasant and smiling. It is BYOB. We ordered 2 entrées to share. Chicken Pad Thai was really very underwhelming. When Nam Tok (a pork dish) was served, we looked at eat other and almost simultaneously both said "it smells like ..." (sewage). I have a cast iron stomach and have eaten street food all over Thailand for over 40 years. But this Nam Tok actually TASTED quite good. The trouble started in the car on the way home when my companion started feeling ill. After dropping him off my stomach started growling like a B-52, which was the first time in my life it's done that. The good news is I was "uncomfortable" but never "actively" ill. Twelve hours later my stomach was still "talking" to me. I think there was something amiss with the pork and I regret not speaking up when we first got a whiff of it. Dinner with tip and tax was exactly $20 per person. Bottom line for me: a big disappointment and never again. No can recommend!

Good food, good service

By Lisa M |

Driving up into the parking lot kinda made me hesitate, but once inside, it was totally different. It was the first time most of us had tried Thai and it was surprisingly good. I ordered the Thai Dee entree, it was very good with lots of flavor.

Authentic Thai here!

By kpjimmy |

The green curry is absolutely amazing. The place looks like a holebin the wall and parking is very few. The tea is quite an experience. I love the experience every time I eat there.

Yummy authentic thai food. great restaurant experience

By bomberrazor |

this is a truly authentic Thai restaurant, don't bother by the location or the outer exterior, food here is excellent, I love their green curry, pad thai and summer roll. the interior decor is nice and clean, clean restroom. great service and friendly owner, truly an exceptional experience!!!!!

Disappointed

By hotmathsax |

This restaurant is waaaay overrated. I don't understand how it has such high reviews. Everything that I've ever tried there is lacking flavor, especially salt. And they never have salt shakers out on the table. The pad see ew with beef was a little weird and tasteless. Their pad thai chicken was also lacking in flavor. I was very surprised by this place, and not in a good way.

Real Thai food!

By LjGarcia |

We have gone to many Thai places in town and many were pretty good. This place is the best! Don't let the outside fool you since it looks like a hole in the wall attached to a gas station. The atmosphere is very relaxing with a pleasant decor. It's far from modern inside but when you are inside it feels authentic. Staff is very nice and you can bring in what you want to drink. Bring your favorite bottle of wine to enjoy with your meal since they welcome that. Everything tastes clean and we are never disappointed in a new dish that we try. They have a website that you can check out their menu.

Dinner Delight

By Pd946 |

Finding Thai Food in San Antonio is "hit or miss" ; this was a "Hit". We ordered Family Style sampling a variety of dishes. Pad Thai, a traditional Thai dish, was delicious. It's BYOB so bring it along. The ambiance is not inspiring, but the restaurant itself is clean, neat and nice. Try Thai Dee for good Thai food experience in San Antonio.

Very long wait

By Helis R |

We waited over 30 minutes on our food order. The restaurant only had 4 tables with customers, including ourselves. They apparently forgot about our order for 2. We were not very happy.

Great Thai Food

By maae40 |

My friend and I ate here this past week after hiking. We both like Thai food. I had read about this place on a blog. We went and loved their food. Another hidden gem in SA. Furthermore, you can take your own wine-another bonus!

A delicious find

By Jomama |

This is a quaint restaurant with an extensive menu. The server described the menu options to us. They accommodated the gluten free and the vegan in our group. I had spicy green beans and Tom kraft soup which were both excellent.

One of the best Thai places in SA

By Jessica v |

What isn't there to love about Thai Dee? The food is always delicious and fresh (we've had both their take out and dine-in numerous times), the prices are great, and the staff is always friendly. Love this place, don't be intimidated by the appearance, come here for some spice and tasty food!

Amazing Thai Food

By BedCab |

Wow, our first time here and so glad we opted for this place. It is a hole in the wall kind of place in a questionable neighborhood. We had the crab ragoons and pot stickers for appetizers and they were divine. I had the wide spicy noodles and it was the hit at our table. It was "spot on". We added it to the lo mein noodles and it was perfect. This will be a regular stop when in San Antonio.

Great Thai

By Mark H |

Two trips have confirmed, Thai Dee offers excellent Thai fare. If you like curry or noodle dishes you will not be disappointed. Well seasoned, large portions give you some to share or take home.

Greatly disappointed

By Melissa S |

I ordered the thai chicken salad and it was TERRIBLE. I couldn't even eat it. I told the waiter how bad it was and there was no compensation or discount. It was like eating a mouthful of pure cilantro and an odd crunchy spice that felt like I was crunching on glass. The eggrolls were very greasy. We were there to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I love thai food but was GREATLY dissatisfied with this place.

Great hole-in-the-wall

By Meltedcrayolas |

Awesome Thai food, especially for the price. The service is pretty choppy but the wait is always minimal. One of my favorite places for a casual meal in SA. Great vegetarian options.

Legit Thai

By Cruz C |

My fiance was in the mood for asian/specifically Thai food. I had no idea what to recommend, but we were able to find good recommendations of Thai Dee. It is almost a hole in the wall type of place. It is located next to a small grocery shop, so the parking is almost non-existent. Never judge a book by its cover, walking in was a surprise. I tried the Thai Tea, with half and half creamer, changed my life! I had a coconut chicken, my man had some curry chicken. Looking back, we could have shared one plate! Besides being Thai, they have Texas-Size servings!

Some of the Best Thai Food in Town

By 2fromTX |

A lot of locals claim Thai Dee has some of the best Thai Food in town, and they could be correct. I’ve been here several times for lunch, and it’s always packed and the food is consistently good. We came for the first time to dinner recently on a Thursday night and the food was just as good as their lunches and the place was just as busy. I had the red curry with pumpkin, which added different textures and a great curry taste. My daughter had the old standby, Pad Thai and she doesn’t like spicy food, but this dish was still mild enough for her. The main dishes were large enough that we all had enough take home for lunch the next day. They told us the curries do not have a spice level option, and our dishes were just right for my taste. We also had an order of summer rolls, which they only had in pork or tofu (no shrimp?) that were decent. Thai Dee was once a hole in the wall and felt like it, but in recent years they’ve upgraded the interior to be brighter and quite nice. Be aware that it’s very small, and they have very little parking, as they share a small, old strip center with a convenience store, and the location is kind of out of the way if you aren’t familiar with San Antonio. The prices for dinner were mid-range, not inexpensive — but since it’s good food, you get what you pay for. They don’t serve beer or wine, so you can bring your own — a nice bonus. Over half of the tables had done this on the night that we were there. Staff is super friendly and accommodating.

Excellent

By campi4 |

After asking for recommendations for Thai food, our peeps recommended Thai Dee. We were not disappointed. Parking was a little difficult, but worth the trouble. The restaurant is not large and was full of patrons. The menu is extensive. We had three appetizers, soups and five entrees. Everything was delicious and prompt. Service was excellent. Even our two grandkids (20 months and 2 years) loved it. It is BYOB so people had brought their own with a convenient store being next door. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely return.

Disappointed

By Foodie |

Service was good, iced tea was best part of meal. My friend had the pad Thai which she thought was ok. The egg rolls were just ok. I had the green curry with chicken which was rubbery and had a microwave reheated flavor. There was also an overwhelming amount of basil leaves and the green and red pepper in the broth were raw.

Our Favorite Restaurant

By Diamondtex |

We eat here regularly and it never disappoints! Best Thai in San Antonio. Love the Thai Dee, green curry, pad thai, Tom yum...really everything. The staff is friendly and the service is great!

JUST SO SO FOR ME

By Heatherj911 |

I tried this place because the reviews were so good, and I love good Thai food. I tried spring rolls, fried tofu (which I discovered I don't care for...kind of like eating fried sponge..yuck!) I also had the Tom Kha soup with shrimp was was VERY good. Then, I tried the green curry with chicken. If you try it, make sure you have them turn the heat down a bit...it was SUPER SPICY!!!! So, all in all, I've had better in my own home town, and I've had worse.

Awesome food - but I wish you wouldn't go or it will be too packed for me

By DannyAMZ |

Tiny place with excellent food. Probably one of the best Thai restaurants I've tried. The shrimp wrapped with crispy noodles was a little odd - tasted mostly noodles, but filling. The curry dishes were great. The only thing I'd say is - I wish you wouldn't go, because that will leave no parking in the TINY parking lot for me. Go early, before 7pm or it will be packed.

Outstanding service and Thai Food

By JamesSMc |

My wife and I have had Thai food from all over, including Thailand. Thai Dee matches or exceeds all of them! The food quality is excellent, with some dishes I've not seen elsewhere, such as moo ping, which is a pork satay equivalent. What also makes it stand out is the outstanding service. Our waiter made great suggestions and knew the dishes inside and out. Overall, outstanding service and Thai Food makes Thai Dee (oh, I get it tidy... he he he) our favorite Thai restaurant!

Food was very good service not so much

By Mireya J |

The food was very good and portions were excellent but service could use improvement. The staff of 2 people for a crowed restaurant was not enough. We waited a long time for our order to be taken then the staff does not understand English well and did not get our dessert order right. The staff was very courteous. I liked being acknowledged when we arrived and when we left.

Craving Thai

By Terese C |

Went here based on over 400 great reviews. Our egg rolls were cold and so oily the oil was running down my hand and so cold we could not eat them. The seafood dish was cold and consisted of mostly onions and a couple strips of green pepper. The noodle dish tasted like Chef-Boyardee! The worst Thai I’ve ever eaten. The jasmine tea was brewed with a tea bag and was cold. A very disappointing dinner for sure.

Exceeds Expectations

By pigletpuff |

Food is delicious. The interior is modest but clean and cozy. There is a picture of the Thai emperor or is it a king next to the register which shows the family's reverence for their homeland which also shows in the pride and love put into the food.

Some of the Best Thai Food Ever

By Nikhil P |

So I come here every week, the food is always delicious, and contrary to the comments, I have never once got sick here, and statistically I think that coming once a week would lead to me having at least one bad experience had their been any real issue. The Panang curry with tofu and no fish oil is my favorite. I definitely am going to miss this place when I leave San Antonio.

Best in SATX

By Mark L |

I have been to plenty of Thai Restaurants all over the world and Thai Dee keeps up with all of them. Great service and delicious curry. The Yum Nur and Red Curry are favorites of mine. Definitely worth the visit.

If you love authentic Thai food, look no further.

By Cal N |

We live 70 miles from this restaurant but eat there several times a year when we're in the city. Don't be put off by the unassuming exterior. This is really a mom-and-pop eatery and generally Paul and Toi are on site and come and visit with you. I refuse to eat Thai food anywhere else cuz I've tried and nobody measures-up to Thai Dee.

Wonderful surprise!

By Olga Flores |

Friend suggested Thai Dee. Sorry if a small hole in the wall definite surprise when we walked in. Very nice little place, good atmosphere, great service. We had the Thai Dee Delight ( noodles, veggies, shrimp, chicken, beef), Vegetable eggs rolls, Yellow curry with beef. Rolls good though could have enjoyed more accompanying sauce. Thai Dee Delight was good. Yellow Curry was very good. As we enjoyed more and more people arrived until there was a long line of waiting customers. Very popular place and most every one had a bottle of wine or beer with them for their meal. Staff quickly say then and immediately bought them wine glasses. Found out you can bring your own wine, beer, etc. Small parking lot was full. Told in weekends patrons line up outside patiently waiting for a table. Thinking you should definitely give this quaint place a try. We're definitely going back. Reasonably priced, $-$$.

Got Off the Riverwalk and Found a Jewel

By Airchef |

Took the night away from Downtown San Antonio and found this great little place up Blanco Rd. Authentic Thai cuisine, huge portions, and lots of flavor. You can get it Thai hot, or seasoned to American tastes. Service was prompt and polite...a standard on Thai restaurants, which is one reason we seek them in our travels. If you are visiting SA, do yourself a favor and venture off the river and try Thai Dee.

Not bad

By Seumas K |

a local family restaurant. Whilst I am not a Asian food fan, I found the food good. The wife is a big Thai hot fan and ordered as such. She reported that while her food was certainly spicy, she rated it as not Thai hot. Worth another try when in town again. Accommodated service dog without question.

Small but good place

By momdadkidsTexas |

It looks like very little from the outside, but step inside to get some very good food. The chicken pad Thai was wonderful, as was the Tom gai soup. Everything was very good, including the ice cream desserts served over sticky rice. The mango-rice-Ice cream dish is apparently seasonal, and is cool and refreshing. It is very small, so that is a downside in terms of wait time.

Amazing Egg Rolls

By Doctrknow |

This place is amazing. From the outside, you would not think to stop in here, but make sure you do. Quaint little hole-in-the-wall restaurant with the freshest and best tasting Thai food you will find. Everything cooked to order and made with fresh, and I mean fresh, ingredients. Huge menu of items including appetizers, soups, noodles, entrees, and specials. You can get anything made to order HOT to mild, so don't worry about the stereotype of ALL Thai food being extremely hot. We had a group of eight, and tried/shared several items from the menu, including the Thai Dee Light, Broccoli Chicken, Panang Curry, both spicy and mild, Moo Ping and Yum Nur. We through in some spring rolls and egg rolls. Everything was awesome! I did not hear one person say anything to the contrary and the leftovers went home in to-go boxes. We even asked for more curry sauce for one of the Panang Curry dishes, and they said they make the sauce just for the dish, so there is no extra sauce sitting around. Now, one item that really stood out for me was the egg rolls. They were hands down the best I have ever had. The outer shell was light, yet crispy and the stuffing of chicken, shrimp and veggies were perfect. Prices our very good for the portions you get. Best value you can find. You can BYOB and they will ice down and provide wine glasses and chilled mugs for beer. Great staff and very helpful with menu selections if you have questions or want recommendations. I don't live in SA, but would recommend this to anyone wanting some fantastic Thai while visiting.

Best Thai food in South-central Texas

By trip2where |

Small and busy place located on Blanco Road, just south of Jackson-Keller, near Nimitz Middle School. The servers are very friendly and polite. The food is the best Thai we've had in San Antonio, Austin or Corpus Christi. We'll be back.

Best Curry Ever

By Haley B |

The panang curry here is the best. It was recommended to us by a friend and she warned us the neighborhood is sketchy but the food is fantastic - plus its BYOB. She was right and it almost stopped us from eating here but the adventure proved well worth it. All the food we had was great along with friendly, welcoming service. A must try.

Simply The Best

By Poindextergoodfellow |

This is a family owned and operated restaurant and it shows. It is a small place but the food is the best Thai I've found in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Toy, Buck, Pops, and Nikki are the best and the food is prepared after the order is placed, not waiting for hours in a warming area. Fresh ingredients, traditional cooking by a family from Thailand. They have a BYOB policy as no alcoholic beverages are sold there. Come early or be patient as this place gets very busy at evening dinner and parking can be limited but super worth the wait.

Easy to miss

By Robert F |

This is exactly the kind of place you read reviews to find. It is small and inconspicuous. You could easily drive right by. It is in a strip center next to a convenience store that will tow your car if you are in one of their limited parking places. Once you find it, however, you are likely to come back. The food is excellent, the sizes large, the prices reasonable. That’s the key to success with Asian restaurants and they follow it to the “T”. Friends brought us here. We had a pumpkin dish that was scrumptious. We all left with to go containers, enjoying another meal the next day, all for one reasonable price.

Best Kept secret!!

By Ashlie G |

Out family found this place on Yelp! My Hubby wanted Thai so we looked for a hole in the wall and here we found it!! Thai Dee may not look very appealing on the out side being next to a mini mart BUT INSIDE its Beauty shows!! The walls are all wood with matching tables. Its a but small and can get pretty packed on wkends but its worth the wait! Its very well priced and the food is ALWAYS fresh!!! Their Spring and Summer rolls are NEVER dried our and their portions are enough to share!! For dessert our fave is the mango Sticky rice!! We tent to get 3 orders one for each if us and one for home!! We go in so often that they tend to have our order memorized! Even after not coming for a month or 2 we have walked in and our order would be placed!! This place is such a gem!! Its seriously the best kept secret in SA!! If you like thai You NEED To Try this place!!!

Location is a little rough, but stop anyway. The green curry and pad see we were really great. Service was superb. The interior looks like it might have a British or Irish pub at one time. Definitely got a star on our Google maps app.

Sumptuous food with service to match

Sensational food and the people serving epitomise their tradition of being polite and humble since we were in a hotel they thought of the smallest detail when packing Try anything and do not let the setup bother you, highly recommend their Larb

Nice people but HORRIBLE food

By SanAntonio_TexasJenz |

I've been here two times, for lunch. First time had chicken with lemon grass and it was very bland, nothing exciting, chicken was over-boiled. Thought I would give it another try, maybe I ordered the wrong thing. 3 of us got take-out. Had chicken with red curry. The chicken was on the verge of going bad. I cook a lot so I know the the smell and it directly correlates to the flavor the chicken had. The curry sauce was the most bland I had ever tasted. It was very runny -- not thick and flavorful like it should be. Had the pad thai -- was decent but once again, the spoiled chicken ruined it. Had a beef dish with onion and peppers -- can't temember the name but the beef was a cheap cut and it was chewy and sinewy. Had to spit part of it out, really. We actually threw the food out -- it was just that bad. There are a lot of great thai restaurants in san antonio -- this is not one of them.

Don't judge a restaurant by it's storefront.

Driving into the parking lot, you begin to wonder "Am I about to make a huge mistake?" I have to say the exterior of the restaurant has seen better days. Once you look past the graffiti and step through the doors it all changes. I was greeted by a very friendly staff. For starters I ordered the Tom Kha (w/ shrimp) soup. It was absolutely amazing. I am disappointed on occasion when I order this soup at other restaurants but Thai Dee delivers. I could not decide on a main dish but I was in the mood for seafood. I let my waitress surprise me with one of the seafood dishes. She chose the Angry Ocean. Once again they hit a home run. It's served in a sizzling hot skillet. All of the seafood was cooked perfectly, I was most impressed by the squid, it had a firm bite too it but not like chewing on a rubber sole like most places. The mixture of hot peppers and basil compliment but don't overpower the dish.

Fresh variety for the whole family

Fresh, delicious and generous portions that pleases the whole family. My husband likes Thai food but my daughter does not. Thai Dee prepares a chicken satay and sticky rice with a spicy peanut sauce that she loves. The wait staff and chefs are attentive and always have great suggestions for trying something new from their menu. The menu is large but the restaurant is very small, cozy and sometimes crowded. It's worth the wait! Stop next door and pick up your favorite beverage. BYOB

Love it!!

I love this place...pretty nice service and delicious food!! As a vegetarian I found a lot of dishes without meat. Also a lot of options for kids. We tried soups, wontons, noodles, rice, the special tea I wish they open on Sunday!! Definitely we will go again soon!!

Great "hole in the wall" Thai Restaurant

By PDC_Lovers |

This is a great place for inexpensive authentic Thai food. The Thai fried rice is great and so is the green chicken curry. This place is also cool because you can take your own drinks into the restaurant (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Highly recommended!

Amazing food and service!

Food are fresh and authentic, they have items I haven't seen before. We bad Moo Ping, Spicy Green Beans with curry sauce, Papaya Salad, Tom Yum Soup and Thai Fried Rice, all excellent. Definitely one of the best we had ever! Our waiter really know the menu and able to explain everything throughly!

Good Find

Little place in odd location that serves good food. It is BYOB, which we did't know. Try the chicken satay, generous size with Peanut sauce (was a little thick) and a delicious side of cucumbers and vinegar.

If you want delicious Thai food, Thai Dee is the place to go! Always made fresh and tasty!! Shrimp rolls and pad Thai are my personal favorite.

Thai Dee - Solo dinner experience

By Kitten S |

I was already excited going in, because it is a traditional looking restaurant attached to a gas station. A true ma & pop operation. The interior is beautiful with a lot of wooden accents, the service was great, and the food was delicious. I got thai tea, chicken pot stickers, curry noodles, and tom yum. Everything was really good. The tom yum was interesting because it was flavorful but not extremely sour. They added red bell pepper and it worked nicely with the soup. Good value as well. The prices are reasonable and the entree was huge. Had a good time. Thank you.

Dont let looks fool you

First time we pulled up, we nearly drove away because the outside looks very unappealing. BUT, you must go in and dine, the food is absolutely amazing. So affordable and delicious, been hooked on their food for a few months now and get consistently excellent food. The staff are lovely and nothing is a hassle. Although they dont serve alcohol, you are aloud to take some in if desired.

Best Thai food in San Antonio

By AndreaMN82 |

Nikky was an attentive, warm and authentic server. He made excellent recommendations about their menu that definitely did not disappoint. He was happy to provide nice wine glasses and an Ice bucket for us. The green curry was delicious. The Panang curry was not the same as I've had it before but it was really really good. The pad Thai was well flavored and the chicken was good quality. For a group of 4, we shared appetizers and 3 main courses and has some to take home. The $ was very reasonable. The only negative comment I have is that there is a dish that has chilis on a skillet that overwhelms the senses and made us cough/tear up. Otherwise we all loved it! Can't wait to go there again and try something new.

Awesome food

We ordened as entrance some fried calamar that comer with a sweet and garlic sauce on the side (they are really good). We also ordered a schrimp pasta and some rice with beef. The plates a very well served so we had to take the food home because it was way to much. Really good taste and the enviorment is great, lights and surrounding. There is always a waiting list to get a table but it is definitly worth it. The price was fare enough and i would definetly go back again.

Great food with reasonable prices

The food was very tasty and delicious. I haven't eaten much Thai food, I imagine this place is fairly authentic. The location is not the best and parking (10 spots??) can be tough since its next to this convenience store. The inside looks very nice and the waitstaff has wonderful service. It gets packed quickly so I recommend going early. This was a weekday and by 6:30pm the 15 or so tables were fairly full. I recommend the red curry. Everything is about medium spicy.

Yum Tum Yum Soup

Eating Wonderful pineapple fried rice with chicken at this restaurant made my husband search for a equivalent in PA. I loved the tum yum soup. Wish we had this place up north!

Looks are deceiving - take a chance on this one

Outstanding Thai food awaits those who ignore both the location and the funky exterior. Cozy interior and attentive staff make for a very enjoyable dining experience - not to mention the food. My usual order is pot stickers, Tom Kha & Pad Thai (@ heat level 8) but have ventured into other areas of the menu and found zero negatives. I especially enjoy the fish entrees.
