Success ruins restaurant

By evelyn s |

This restaurant has been in business for a long time because of its good service and food but lately both service and food has gone down. Maybe too much success has allowed them to not pay much attention to this things. The place was crowded as usual at lunch time. We ordered our favorite from the lunch special, Phad Thai. The soup that came with the lunch was nothing but boiled rice and tiny pieces of chicken. No taste at all. What ever happened to the lemon grass. Then our Phad Thai arrived, very pale looking with tiny morsels of chicken and way overcooked noodles to the point of being pasty. When we complained about the noodles the waitress merely said "that's the way we cook it". Anyone who knows how to cook noodles know that they get pasty and turn into glue when you overcook it. The waitress did not offer to replace the order, merely explained that they are busy with the lunch crowd. This is one place that will not see me as a returning customer again.

The Reason This Place Is Crowded...

By HappyPenny |

When you see a restaurant absolutely packed with locals at lunch, there is a reason! Any time you visit Thai House, you'll find the tables filled up with hungry customers. But they don't leave hungry - they leave HAPPY. I can't figure out how the Thai House manages to serve such yummy food at such good prices. The atmosphere isn't much, but you can't beat this restaurant for a quick, delicious, and inexpensive meal.

Hidden Thai Gem

By jottowag |

Highly underrated low profile Thai restaurant, family run, near Fort Sam Houston. Mother, father, and several of their children run this place, It seem as if only family work there. Great food, very reasonable prices, and clean qtmosphere. Many regulars go their almost nightly. We go two or three times a week, although there are several good Thai restaurants closer to our home. The military from Fort Sam know Thai food from being in Thailand, and make up a large portion of their customers.

Super Thai!

By Albert B |

The very best Thai in San Antonio to date and close to Ft Sam. Authentic to the max! If you go during the lunch hour, you may not even get in the door, it's that popular with the locals. Prices are reasonable and you get a Springroll and Soup included with the lunch entree.

Go here to eat, you'll be SO glad you did!!

MISSION: Lunch - Location: San Antonio - Menu: Not BBQ! Thai House fit the need and then some! A fresh, tasty, and worthy lunch menu. Some of the best Pad Thai we've had in awhile and another dish featuring sautéed noodle dish (forgot the name ;o) with cabbage, broccoli, and additional veggies. OMG, GREAT!! This was off their lunch menu that included a light chicken broth soup, un-greasy spring rolls. and large portions for a good price. We'll definitely be back before leaving. You've GOT to try this place, you'll be glad you did! Note: Not too fancy outside, but well appointed inside!

Not fancy but good!

Food is reliably good...service is quick. This is one of our favorite go-to places for a dependable lunch.

Better than Average but....

By nancy t |

Have visited the restaurant twice in a month and one visit was much better the first time we visited. The noodle dishes are excellent, but the soup and rice dishes were just ok, actually the rice dish one person ordered was very sweet, though I don't know what could make the dish sweet. The service was very good on both visits.

A family favorite. Straight forward Thai, no surprises. Good value, lunch specials.

Very Delicious Thai Food

By Sausheim |

Excellent Thai food. Pad Thai was delicious as was the Phad Se-Ew. (Phad Se-Ew seemed to have a hint of maple in it). Place is small and has a Hole-in-the-Wall feel to it. Line stretched out the door and around the corner by about 12:15pm so you better get there early.

MY FAV LUNCH SPOT

By Kesha S |

I dine here almost every week for lunch. Their dishes are delicious. My favorite dish is L2 Pad Se-ew which is mainly pad thai but with thicker noodles. I get medium spice and the meal comes with soup to start and your dish is served with a tasty egg roll. I recommend everyone to try them out. Delicious. Lunch hour is pretty busy but they get people in and out with no problems. Service is fast.

Nice service with good Thai food

By Hsphoser36 |

We had a nice experience at this restaurant with very kind service. My dish was only average and I do not recommend it. I had the super noodles. I'm not sure if I even finished it. We also tried some spring rolls that were pretty tasty. My wife head Curry which was good and we split a plate of fried rice. There are probably better tasting Thai restaurants, but my opinion Maybe limited because my particular dish was not very tasty. If I had gotten a courage as I probably would have liked it more but was adventurous and took a risk this time.

Great food, fast, service okay

Lunxh special was $7 for a great portion. Great flavors. Service was a little brusque. I had medium spice and it was plenty spicy, tread lightly!

Wonderful Neighborhood Thai Restaurant

By SAFoodie08 |

My family loves Thai House, and our four children (ranging in ages from 10 to 2) routinely request that we eat here. Our kids love the chicken satay, the cheese rolls, the tom kha gai, and the combination fried rice. My husband and I enjoy the spicy curries, salads and noodle dishes. The owner and wait staff always wecome us and make us feel right at home. Reasonable prices combined with consistent food quality and service make this a restaurant we all enjoy.

Like being transported to Bangkok!

By WhiteMtnRider |

Best Thai food I've had since dining at the street carts in Bangkok! And the staff was so friendly and attentive - a true Thai experience. Don't be turned off by the outside; one step inside is all you need to fall in love. I had the Penang Curry which was 5-star; my husband had the Pad Thai, and may have been seen licking the plate when he was done. If you want true Thai dining, excellent service, and don't want to break the bank, this is your place.

Hidden Gem

By TurtleT |

We love this place. The food is always good and the staff is always friendly. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it's a hidden gem in the area. The only thing I wish was a little better was the cleanliness of the place...The bathrooms and back hallway are always dirty when we go.

Favorite Thai in San Antonio

By Jim H |

This spot is not much to look at (I'm not sure what the picture here shows but it's not this place). That said, the food we have eaten here across the board is excellent, pat thai being one of my favorites. You get to pick how hot you want it. Service is very efficient in this family-run restaurant - a necessity, because it's almost always packed. Interior has kind of a drab lunch counter feel to it, but you go here for the food. Only down side, between the local military base and other Thai food lovers you may have a bit of a wait at lunch for sure, and often at dinner time. We still go, and tolerate the delay. Highly recommend the food here, and prices are reasonable.

Good Food, Small Space Availability

By EISMTraveler |

This Thai restaurant is nestled in the northeast part of San Antonio. It is extremely busy for lunch and has several great lunch specials. The quality of the food is excellent but the seating is very tight in this small restaurant. Diners can order the lunch special or can order from the menu. Many of the Thai Buddhist monks eat their lunch here. Great place and great value!

Quick Lunch, Even On a Busy Tuesday

By Eric P |

First, the food. Thai joys rolls were served slice with lettuce to wrap and dipping sauce. Amazing! Crispy little deliciousness. Next came a cup of soup. Simple rice and chicken. Perfect for a "cold" December day in Texas. The basil duck was prepared well, but had an overarching soy sauce taste to it. I am accustomed to a sweeter flavor from other great places. Not bad, just not what I was looking for. Busy on a Tuesday for lunch. People standing around outside waiting for a table. This seems like a normal occurrence since no one seemed upset about a short wait. This also indicated a good chance of a great meal since there were several other dining options close by that people could have left to eat at. Inside was a small dining area with a simple table/ chairs set up. Nothing extravagant. The entire place probably seats about 60. Table turn was quick and food was atrium quickly. The staff was fast and attentive. Bottom line, I will be back to try other dishes. Great little gem hidden away from the busy and expensive downtown scene.

Wonderful Thai Food!

By melcav57 |

A gem of Thai cuisine in San Antonio! The Pad Thai was excellent with the perfect amount of spiciness. The Pad Kee Mao, that my partner ordered, was wonderful as well. Such a nice blend of flavors!

Years later still great

By travelerpadoc |

The price is fantastic, food hot and fresh. First ate here over ten years ago and had to try it again. Still wonderful and the service was great.

Hidden gem

By Jamie C |

We ordered the pad thai with medium heat and as an avid Thai food eater, it is above average. There is great service and interior is cozy despite the not so pleasurable exterior. A must eat and go to place!

Best Thai Ive had in San Antonio

By DC_diva_10 |

It doesn't look like much on the outside, but the food is very authentic, service is excellent, great value. Lunch specials are popular and the restaurant is busy then. Take out available but not delivery.

Very tasty

By flksfhtx |

First time visiting this restaurant and we were treated to a tasty experience. The service was wonderful and the staff was very attentive. Our group of twelve enjoyed everthing that was ordered, to include those who had never tried Thai food before. I ordered the house special boneless duck which was full of flavor and the texture of the fried duck made it even better. Spice levels were spot on and not one complaint about anything being too spicy.

Thai House Restaurant

Every single time I have dined here, it has been consistent with great food, service, and pricing. I've been visiting here since the Mid 90's. The green Curry is amazing. I always add chicken, and extra vegetables.

Don't Let the Exterior Scare You Away

By Chris G |

This place looks a little weather-beaten from the outside, but don't be alarmed. Inside was well-maintained. I'm no Thai food expert, but the offerings were consistent with what I've seen elsewhere. The food I had was tremendous. Second visit was with a large party during the lunch rush. The food was served quickly and well-prepared. If you want Thai in the vicinity of Fort Sam, this is a very solid option.

Wonderful food and wonderful people!!!!

This is a lovely thai restaurant that has authentic yummy food!! 😊 We got the Panang curry it was yummy!!!

Great Thai food!

By ladyd60 |

The restaurant is a home like setting, food is awesome, I love the Thai combo fried rice and the Shrimp curry. Curry is sooo good! Friendly, sometimes they forget your order! So watch out for that. Can get pretty crowded, prepare to wait. Great deal for your money, LOVE the food.

Mediocre Thai

By Wendy R |

Avoid at all costs. I would give this a lower rating but They get points for service. Food was mediocre at best. Even the pad thai was iffy. There are definitely better thai places in town. Go there.

Best Pad Thai in San Antonio!

By Diana M |

I order Pad Thai at all the Thai restaurants I visit and the best one is at Thai House! It is really yummi, huge portion, sweet, flavorful! This time I wanted to be adventurous and ordered Panang curry, not the best one but it is definitely worth to try, a little spicy I think. All lunch entrees are accompanied by a soup of the day which in this case was the awesome wonton soup. I love this place it is hidden gem, service is great and has the best Pad Thai!

Bland and Boring

By Redlotus78 |

There are several good Thai places in San Antonio but this not one of them. My Pad See Ewe was bland, Egg rolls were mediocre, and fried tofu was boring (tofu can actually be tasty if made correctly.). Service was only okay and ambiance was lacking. I'd skip this place.

Good food Good price Good service

Was staying on the east side of San Antonio and happy to find this gem. A little off the beaten path, food was well worth the trip, service was great as well.

Pretty good lunch special

By 502ericaf |

Came here for a quick lunch and to try the lunch special. There is plenty of parking which is always super great since here in San Antonio driving Is necessary for almost anywhere u go. The spot during lunch is pretty busy and sometimes you need to wait for a table, however they are pretty good on the timing and the tables turn pretty quickly so the wait is not that long at all, as well as the time for the food to come, they are remarkably quick on that aspect. I had to have the Thai iced tea ofc and it was as always pretty great. For appetizer I had the cheese rolls, those are amazing, reminded me of the crab Rangoon but made with rice paper and came with some great dipping sauce. I had the red curry for my main dish from the lunch special, that came with a dumpling soup fried rice and the curry, since I am not big on spicy food I asked to have them make it mild and they hit right on the spot, it was not spicy just like I asked. Also they give a vegetable The fried rice was pretty good as well, the serving size is great and with the appetizer I still had some food left over. Pretty good spot overall.

BEST THAI - Don't let the exterior fool you!!

By Triple T |

Been eating here over years - this past Monday ordered to go for the first time - still Excellent..... The service here is always impeccable and food is amazing. I can't even suggest anything because I have attempted to try everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. The area and the outside of the building may be a little sketchy but there is nothing about this food that is.....

Very tasty Thai

By RvRover1 |

Some of the best Pad Thai I have ever had! Dining companion had Basil Vegetables and it was also delightful and full of flavor. The outside is nothing fancy but inside is neat, clean and tastefully decorated modestly in a Thai feel. Service was prompt and friendly. Will be returning again and again!
