I came for lunch today and it was my first time there. The food was great. Our female waitress was clearly annoyed and unhappy. Her attitude was very indifferent. My colleague asked for a take away box 3 times and had to go inside for it herself. I was there 2 hours for business and never was asked for a refill on my water or drink. There must be a balance of good service and food. Her passive aggressive attitude left me unhappy. I would love to come back but cannot take the chance of poor service again.

Nice presentation. Friendly service. Nice portions for lunch. Beautifully landscaped area. You can enter off Germantown pike if you walk thru.

I love the food here! Itβs consistently good and the price point is fair! Great service, excellent flavors!!!! Pad See Eew and Drunken Noodle are both delicious options!!!

Great ambiance. Menu was delightful and delicious. Will definitely visit again especially since they have take out.

We've been to Thai Kuu twice now for dinner and will definitely go back. Everything we've tried has been excellent, in particular the curries, Pad Thai and edamame & potato dumplings. It can get a little noisy indoors but less so in the back room, which is cozier than the front. The service is great, the decor sparkles and the BYOB keeps it affordable. (There is a liquor store right next store for those who forget). Thumbs up.

This was my 3rd visit and as usual, I had a great experience. The food is excellent, as is the service. A lunch mate and I visited for an early lunch, about 11:30 AM, so we were the only ones in the restaurant and it was very quiet. The restaurant is nicely appointed and a bit small so if you are looking for an intimate experience it fits the bill. Just bear in mind that because it is rather small should you go during a busy time you may not have the privacy you would like and the noise level will be greater. I will definitely return as this place has become one of my favorites and is one of the area's best kept secrets.

Terribly bland food. Pad Sew Ew was overcooked to the point of being just a blob of mush. You could tell the shrimp was thrown in and not cooked together. Worst $20 I ever spent. I love Thai food and enjoy it. Whoever made this did not love Thai food. Save yourself some pain and don't go.

This restaurant is a little gem just north of Philly proper. It is beautifully appointed and quaint in size. It has indoor and outdoor seating plus a bar. We at Chicken Panang Curry, Pad Thai with duck and their signature fried rice. Everything was wonderful. Fresh veggies and fabulous flavors. Lightly spicy but can be adjusted to your liking. The other advantage to this restaurant is that it's in a district of cobblestone streets and boutique shopping. Go for a whole day out.

I read the mostly all very good reviews and made the decision to dine at Thai Kuu. Two of us arrived to be seated immediately just to wait close to 30 minutes for order to be taken. Issues continued from there-we each even had slightly different menus(assume one was out of date). Received the wrong appetizer, correct was brought quickly, however the check was presented including wrong app and correct app. Had to ask to have check adjusted. Staff was in a hurry to clear away service ware with three occasions asking to take plates we were eating from. All of this and more. Particularly tough to take considering food was barely average. Too bad.

The green curry and masamann are fantastic. Upscale atmosphere. An added treat is their speedy delivery!

Just came home and we had an excellent meal. BYOB is the icing on the cake.

while the food is better than ok, the idea of byob is always great. staff are nice and the atmosphere is good with a bit of a cafe feel. recommend it.

Delicious, authentic Thai food. Service was outstanding, food was fresh and delicious. We are never disappointed when we decide to eat at Thai kuu.

Went here with another couple who had been here 2 times before and loved it. The food lived up to their expectations. I had the soup special that was wonderful, creamy, full of calamari and crab claw. My entree was the Panang curry with duck which was very good, just a bit spicy but not too much. My wife had the Pad Pong Karee Seafood which was loaded with seafood. Our friends enjoyed their meals as well. The only complaint was the service. Unfortunately, our waitress seemed to be missing most of the evening. We had to ask someone to get her to take our order, she never came to check if the entrees were all right or if we needed anything, she brought the check without asking if we wanted dessert and then never came back for it until we went to the front and told another waitress to send her back. We watched other tables come in after us and leave before us with other waitstaff. Our friends said they had never had this waitress before and would be sure to avoid her when they came back again.

We were in the Chestnut Hill area on the weekend and chose to try this restaurant for dinner. It was a great decision. The menu offers great choices and all the items we tried were excellent. The bowl of Tom Kha was hot and tasty with generous portion size. The green curry was pleasantly spicy and tasty with enough to take home. Service was excellent and friendly. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful meal with friends on a lively Friday night. Attentive service was evident from the moment we walked in the door. The innovative Thai cuisine was evident in the soups and entrees we enjoyed. Looking forward to a return trip soon.

Local restaurant which seems way to fancy for typical Thai food. I was very skeptical when we were served exclusively by black Americans..no Asians in sight but the service was quick and excellent and the food was delicious!

Establishment must have changed hands. Ordered the green curry with beef. The carrots were stale. The beef was revolting. Horrible experience ! The old restaurant was very good. Too bad.

I am so glad I discovered this Thai and Asian cuisine restaurant. I had a very pleasurable dining experience and will definitely return. The service, food, and decor were magnificent. We visited in June so outdoor seating was available, but we chose to dine indoors. This establishment is small and so will most definitely work for those looking for an intimate dining experience. Our server (I believe his name was Cin), along with all the other servers in the restaurant were readily available to keep our water glasses filled, provide complimentary shrimp chips, and to generally make sure we were comfortable. Our server used an ipad to show us the specials of the day (which he also used later in our visit to show us the desserts) as he explained what the dishes were. How's that for making technology a part of your dining experience?! I had the Pineapple Himmaparn and my friend had the Crab Meat Fried Rice. We both ate all of our food, which came in nice sized portions (see pictures) and was very flavorful. Additionally, I had the ginger creme brulee for dessert. Next time I visit I would like to try Cook on the Rock where your food is cooked tableside on an extremely hot rock. Nothing bad at all to say about this establishment. I will return :-). By the way, it's a BYOB so feel free to bring your beverage of choice.

Eat a lot of Thai food and Philadelphia is lucky to have truly great Thai restaurant πππππ Great wait staff very helpful.

The first time we dined here in Spring 2011 we had a delightful experience with both excellent food and service. The decor was fun and we sat outside. It made us want to come back. The second time, about a month later, we had a very different experience. We sat inside. The steak on a stone was way too thin and cooked up too fast at the table, making one rush to eat it. Soft shell crabs were so bad we had to send them back and get something else. Even the shrimp pad thai, a pretty basic dish, was very greasy. ANd it was extremely noisy inside, so hard to have table conversation. We had a very long wait for the food and an even longer wait to let them know we had a problem and get it corrected. The third time was just an OK experience--not great. We had tuna on a stone--and the thinness made it cook really fast and we had to remove it almost immediately. Thicker tuna would have been better. Salmon was good. Service was OK, but we had to wait a very long time to get the check and then give it to the server to pay (about 20 minutes for that transaction). The fourth time we came was almost as good as the first time. Our bottom line: The inconsistency coupled with prices made us reticent to make this a regular place to dine, which made us sad because we love Thai food.

I stopped in at Thai Kuu for lunch while in the area for business, thanks to the TA reviews I had seen. I was not disappointed! The restaurant was easy enough to find since I had the address for my GPS but I can see why people might overlook it; you probably won't find it by accident unless you happen to be getting off at that bus stop. There was plenty of parking around the back. I arrived right as they opened and was the only one in the restaurant so Chris, the server, was very friendly and attentive. The decor was tasteful and the restaurant very clean. I ordered off the lunch specials menu - highly recommended, very affordable. I had the tofu pad thai and added a soup (Tom Kha) and appetizer (salad) for an additional 2.95. The Tom Kha soup was the best I've had to this point, the salad was fresh and came with a tasty dressing. The pad thai was really good as well, but next time I'd ask for it to be made a little spicier. My meal came out to about 12 bucks and even though I'd eaten at 11:30am I was full for the rest of the day. If in the area and craving thai, I'll be back!

the place is such a nice atmosphere. My friend and I go there anytime there is an event that we support. Love the food. I always look forward to going there to eat.

Definitely a hidden gem! My cousin was raving about this place so we had to try it. We went when it first opened on a Sunday. The food was extremely fresh. The lunch combo is such a great deal! Its also BYOB- so how can you go wrong!! Parking is ample. They even brought a little dresser for my cousin since it was her birthday. Service was great. There was enough room for us to comfortably seat six. We all had a great time. Everything is good. Period!!

We recently had so e excellent Thai food in London and found ourselves comparing it to Thai Kuu. Thai Kuu is a fantastic restaurant and we actually ate there last night! The lettuce wraps appetizer is spices, but very very good. The golden pockets are also fabulous. As for the entrees -- they really give you and range and show the specials on a IPad which helps. Our recent favorites are the Thai basil fried rice, which is the beet I have ever had. And the Ginger stir fry, either shrimp, also tasty. Before I forget, I tried their soups last night and it was delicious, with a strong ginger base.

This restaurant is easy to miss since its tucked away in a shopping strip at the top of the hill. I urge you to go stop at the state store to grab some wine, which is next door, and go! It's quiet and tastefully decorated. They have a menu that includes standard Thai favorites prepared with fresh ingredients and plated attractively. Their spring roll, duck, and Thai basil are delicious. I've been here twice and was pleased both times. Added bonus:parking! It's also close to the rail line. It's the best Thai you will get that's on the Abington/Glenside/Wyndmoor/Lafayette Hill "suburban" areas since Chestnut Hill is in close proximity. I do think that it is a little over priced though. I would order their grandchildren if it were a little cheaper.

We wound up having lunch at Thai Kuu after visiting the Woodmere Museum. This BYOB has a very intimate and contemporary interior. The steamed shumai, with actual pieces of shrimp and sea bass, were served with a great sauce. Definitely a quality product. The chicken lab salad was delicious, as was the papaya salad with shrimp. The only problem with the papaya salad was that our server neglected to add shrimp to the order, and in the kitchen's effort to get the salad back out with the shrimp was that the shrimp were slightly under-cooked. All three dishes had a nice presentation. Other than for the mishap with the shrimp, service was fine. If we find ourselves back at the Woodmere Museum, we would definitely come back to Thai Kuu.

Went here for Valentine's dinner. The restaurant is small and intimate; it has the atmosphere of an upscale restaurant with reasonable prices, plus it's BYOB! For an appetizer we shared the Thai crispy spring rolls. The pineapple himmaparn with shrimp was amazing and the presentation was so cool - it is served in half a pineapple!!! My boyfriend had the garlic soft shell crab which was tasty as well. This was my first time and I'm excited to return. Only complaint is how dark it is in there. Service was great!

We went for lunch on a weekday. They have a lunch menu with lower prices than the dinner prices. Presumably this means a smaller portion size too because our lunch plate was nearly appetizer-size small. I thought the food was good (I had a stir fry type dish with pineapple and cashews), but there was just not enough of it. It would have been a bit better if a small soup or salad were included. Putting aside portion size I would give this place a very good rating.

I had lunch there recently and found the service attentive and pleasant. The food is carefully prepared, with a notable presentIon, good portions and delivers on quality and taste. Let's not forget the value, which is high for your money. The same comments can be applied to an evening encounter. Other pluses are as follows: they are BYO, accepts credit cards and provide a quiet setting in comparison to other restaurants in the area. It's worth a detour here- you won't be disappointed! Highly recommended!

We've been to Thai Kuu on several occasions and have enjoyed the food each & every time. We've tried the edamame, the dumplings, pad thai, the curries, and spicy basil chicken, with each dish delicious and nicely prepared. We really love the flavors of their food. The service has consistently been good, no matter how busy they were, with the wait staff being friendly and attentive. The only slight deterrent is the noise level on weekend nights. As the restaurant is small and cozy, it tends to get rather loud when the tables are full. That being said, we could still enjoy conversation, and the food is definitely worth it.

This place is becoming our favorite Thai restaurant is the surroundings. Compare to ones in blue bell and Conshohicken, this is our favorite one to dine in and take out. The restaurant manager needs to work on better managing the restaurant other than that foods are good and can't beat the convenience of liquor store just around the corner for a nice bottle of wine.

Thai Kuu is still the best Thai restaurant in the surroundings. It appears they changed the menu, correct me if I am wrong. Anyhow, they offer wonderful Thai dishes and good service. Now they charge $2.00 for cork fee.

I visited Thai Kuu for Small Business Saturday and I was impressed. We spent about 66.00, brought our own bottle, and shared four entrees. Pad See Ew Tofu, Massaman Curry Tofu, Green Curry Chicken, and Spicy Basil Sea Bass! Everything was delicious!!! The Sea Bass was EXCELLENT!!!!!!! I would recommend this place to anyone, the price point, taste, service, and atmosphere exceeded expectations! Great Job!

First time visiting for a graduation celebration for a party of ten on 5/12/2012 at 6pm. Location easy to find, parking a breeze with their own parking area. Normally in the Chestnut Hills area it is a struggle to find free parking. This location is a BYOB so you can bring your own bottles of wine, this was not a problem or issue at all. The staff at the restaurant was very friendly and attentive. Weather was warm so we were able to sit outside. Great appetizers, I had the soft shell crabs with vegetables. Little pricey but food was fresh, filling and very good. We were there for 3 1/2 hours and were not rushed at all. I will definitely be back.

Pleasant environment, and many dishes can be made vegetarian. Very nice presentation as well. They are also glad to adjust the level of "heat" in the spices. This was a first visit, and I would be glad to return.

Service ultra-courteous, food on target...many choices and all categories from soups to appetizers to entrees and specials were prepared perfectly and consistently...our second visit found the pad thai as well-prepared as the first, as was the tom yum soup, golden bags and red curry. We worth the visit, and use your gps as it's tucked in and easily missed at Bethlehem Pike off of Germantown ave.

I have been to Thai Kuu 3 times. The pad thai has been a hit each time. The restaurant is on the smaller side, but beautifully decorated. The service was average - not anything special, and just ok. I would definitely recommend - the food has been great each time!

Back yet again, enough said. For value and quality its the best restaurant in chesnut hill. We have been through most of the menu now and visit at least once a week. New owners are also thai people very friendly and the food gets bettet and better. Darren is an excellent host as is his colleague the young lady very good

Small quaint Thai restaurant that has been here about eight years. A bit hidden from the street. We shared the Larb Chicken Salad; tasty but could have used more flavor. The Spicy Pad Prik King was missing spice and they were very frugal with the protein. My partner was pleased with Chicken Basil. It is BYOB; wine and beer available within a short walk.

The food is ok and its taste is without any surprise. The very slow service at lunch time borders a complete miss understanding of the lunch concept. If you do not have more than an hour for lunch go elsewhere.

This was my 1st time in Philadelphia for a visit and I wanted some Thai food! This place was recommended. The Thai Kuu sampler appetizer was delicious. My entree was the Crab Fried rice. Yummy! I will have to come back again. I didn't have room for dessert. I wanted to try the ginger creme brulee. This is real Thai food. Many restaurants claim to be authentic. This place really is. Next time I'll experiment and try a little bit hotter/spicier.

My husband and I had a great meal here, very good, authentic Thai food, delicious curry and pad thai. While our server was pleasant enough, I felt the rest of the staff was a bit scattered, chaotic and unorganized. My best advice I would give future diners is this: -The location is VERY small, as a result it's extremely noisy. Be prepared to have to shuffle around frequently to let other patrons/servers by. -It's located in a 'strip mall' so your view out the windows include other stores, a bus depot and a parking lot. If you are seated on the parking lot side, be prepared to have car headlights blind you frequently... Not very romantic or intimate. I still gave this restaurant a very good rating because the food was great, well prepared and beautifully presented. I will definitely order from them again, but next time it's take-out.

We came with a group of friends to try Thai Kuu for the first time, and we were satisfied with the entrees we received. The chicken skewers were not my favorite, and the peanut sauce was average. However, I ordered the Panang curry which was quite good. The portion sizes were acceptable for the price. The decor is chic and elegant. The waitress was not very engaging, but not unpleasant either. Overall, we had a nice experience. *Side note: it is easy to pass the entrance for this restaurant, since it is not located on the street, but tucked into the corner behind the hoagie place. There is a sign.

I planned to go to the persian restaurant that used to occupy this location. What a pleasant surprise. I have been back 3 times and plan to continue trying different dishes. They have great seafood and curries. The Himmaparn Pineapple is served in a pineapple half and is amazing. The Toban Yaki is served in a hot pot and was also amazing. It is becoming more popular so reservations might be necessary.

We visited Thai Kuu yesterday and it was real great. The food was very, very tasty. There were 3 of us, my partner and friend took the menu " from the rock". They got a very hot stone with their choice, one salmon ,one sea bass, sauces, rice or sweet potato. They were excited. I did choose the special curry of the day, it was very good too. What a pity we only could have diner one time!

BYOB is a nice touch and intimate environment means great date spot but food was just ok. I have high expectations when I see a table full of Asian folks dining, but this just didn't live up to my expectations. We never ordered more than appetizers because we weren't WOWed by them.

I went here for a meal this week. Tge starters were fantastic had tge minced chicken with lettuce, won ton soup and the tom yung soup. The tom yung could have been a littke spicer but i like it really hot! Main was thai red curry with chicken, it was so big we didnt finish it. Byob too and considering you have an excellent wine store next door what more could you ask for! Will definately be back!

Last night we ordered take out. Spring rolls, Dumplings and Pad Thai. The spring rolls were mostly filled with noodles, some of those noodles were dry. the shrimp was big but had been cut lengthwise so it appeared to be a whole shrimp but I am doubting it was half. the sweet chili sauce was very good. The dumplings were okay, The Pd Thai was the WORST! If I had been eatting there I would have sent it back! The noodles were WAY overdone to the point of mushy and falling apart. The sauce was wrong, it tasted more like cinnamon and sugar. Way to sweet and no balance to the sauce. Awful. I won't go back!

Truly a reliable, very tasty Thai restaurant. We could always rely on their food as being top-notch, tastefully served, Even though we went there often, it was the go-to for take-out. Until now. My love always orders either the That basil rice or Pad Thai. I love their basil WOK with chicken. So, it was a lazy Saturday night, summer evening, and we knew just what we wanted. Well, were we disappointed. First, when I went to pick the food up, the waitress and the fellow whom I assumed was the owner seemed confused on how to work the digital credit card machine. So, I stand there while they change places trying to figure it out (food getting colder and colder...). Finally, I get home, we open our dishes and dig in. Immediately, we notice something is different, and not the good different. The Pad Thai seems lacking flavor and was missing the characteristic sprinkling of nuts; my basil brown sauce was now red chili sauce... Mine was ok. The Pad Thai,...a few mouthfuls later she pushed it aside: just not good. What happened? True, the staff was unfamiliar to me but I ignored that. So, I called the restaurant and said could i speak to the manager because they forgot to put the peanuts on as they should and I wanted them to be aware so no one else would be disappointed. That was it, I explained. "Please hold." A few minutes go by and someone professing to be the manager gets on, listens to me and says: "You want to come back for the peanuts?" No, says I, I want to warn the kitchen so they don't mess someone else's dish up. She didn't get it. Too bad. We're done.

This is not a destination restaurant for tourists, however, for people living in Philadelphia in the Mt. Airy, East Falls, Chestnut Hill or surrounding area it is a great option as opposed to going into town. The restaurant is pretty enough for bringing a date or having a small gathering of friends. It is not very large and has an intimate feeling. The menu has changed and I believe that is due to new management. There is a state store nearby if you want to pick up wine. In the summer there is outside seating. The menu has the standard Thai dishes and you can pick a curry and match with a protein. If you having a craving for Thai and don't want to drive into the City this is an option.

Thai Ku opened recently in the space vacated (unfortunately by Shundeez, a wonderful Persian restaurant that is sorely missed. But, in a neighborhood with three Chinese restaurants, two Japanese restaurants, and an Indian restaurant in close proximity, the addition of Thai cuisine is quite welcome. The restaurant interior space is an attractive redesign, in a contemporary orange-and-white theme. I have been told that the interior space is very noisy, so be forewarned. Perhaps they can invest in some help from an acoustical engineer. Thus far, I've eaten twice in their outside courtyard, which is perfectly pleasant, and ordered take-out once. The food is very fresh. The menu is not extensive-- and it is expensive, and will set you back even more than an occasional splurge at Tiffin, the popular and pricy Indian restaurant in Mt. Airy. On the plus side, it's a BYOB that is literarily steps away from a state store with a decent refrigerator case. Service was charming, if a little eccentric. My sense is that the young servers we encountered are family members, new to the food service business. Note: if you are not familiar with the area, the restaurant will be hard to find, as it is not visible from the street. Driving north on Germantown Avenue, turn right at Bethlehem Pike past the closed Borders. Take a left into the second driveway, which leads to a parking lot. From the lot you will see the restaurant.

Arriving on a moderately Busy Cold Winter night, An 8:30p.m. res is going to be a Late Quiet table.. Not. They tried to initally seat closest table by the door, Blocked by a decorative screen, the exiters alone @ 10 degrees would have chilled your Soup ! 2nd table placement next to a part of 6 ,w / Multi- bead accents to soften & separate, did nothing for noise reduction. Could not hear or Answer Basic Conversations..except theirs ! More 8:45 tables opened up for better choices (table #3) Noise level complicated a lack of Calamari on 1st Course, because Wait staff could Not hear me acknowledge her fine recommendations to pair my date's seafood soup app.Very Good Soup. ( i sampled). Followed by entrees of Shrimp Pad Thai & Ginger Stir fry with Sea Bass, Both were nice & properly cooked & seasoned. The Ginger Creme' Brulee was dainty enough that the think the other option (Coconut sorbet) could be offered as a "comp" palate cleanser.. Arrive Early, Arrive Late..But maybe not on Saturdays. Have been in as Small (or Smaller) intimate Dining, But never as acoustically Unforgiving. The Thai tasting as a Whole, (without Atmospheric factoring) , can be found @ a number of Quality Thai restaurants in Phila area 3 1/2 ***

Really really good Thai food! We order here at least once every two weeks haha. We usually get the pad Thai with tofu and veggies and the pad kee mao.
Great meal after a day of hiking
The Ginger chicken was very good and the waitress was attentive. The coconut sorbet was delicious. Both items were beautifully presented.
