Thai Lunch...

By francesinred |

I decided to try this restaurant as recommended by my co-worker for lunch. Parking is a little tight and possibly inadequate during busy hours. As I entered the restaurant, we were escorted by a server right away your table. The ambience is nice and saw the charisma of traditional Thai. For appetizer, I ordered fried tofu with sweet and sour sauce and I couldn't explain how perfect it was...so crispy in the outside and very soft in the inside. I've tried deep frying soft tofu before and it always gets mashed unintentionally. For main course, I ordered Thai BBQ and it's so soft and flavorful. My co-worker ordered Thai short ribs, which by the way tastes like Korean Galbi, sweet and tenderized. Their Arnold Palmer looks so cool as well for looking pinkish (I forgot to ask what kind of tea they used). Servings are pretty generous and could be shared. Price is not bad as well. However, one of the male servers doesn't seem like he's pleased to work that time and kept walking away in the middle of the request. Anyhow, this place is recommendable and I will come back here.

Yum!

By EagleRockers |

A friend took my husband and me here for lunch recently, recommending the $4.99 lunch special. I had the Teriyaki chicken that came with a small salad and a big scoop of white rice – Yum! My husband hand the curried chicken and said it was great. The place isn’t fancy, but it serves great food and the service is fast.

Best Pad Thai - Not the best Service

By TheTravelLadyBug |

If I were to rate this restaurant based on the Pad Thai, the Massaman Curry or the Mango Sticky Rice, it would be a straight up 5. The service is what brought my score down from a 5 to a 4. If you are a foodie and are ok with waiting for a waitress to take your order until you shout across the restaurant, then you will love this place. They have the BEST pad thai. If that's not enough, their mango sticky rice is seriously addictive. The next day after eating here, I am immediately getting the cravings for more sticky rice... it's so good! Great spot, just go in knowing refills, orders, and checks are going to take awhile since the wait staff seems to not really care. Other than that, it's a great little gem!

Good Thai food for a fair price

Nice place. They serve good Thai food for fair prices. The staff is pretty helpful and the service is quite fast.

Cruncy Fish w/ eyes wide open @Thai Patio

By Edwin Diego Africano |

Thai Patio @ the Epicenter of Thai Town, Hollywood/Los Angeles California This place has some high energy going which reminds me of a busy restaurant or a market place in Bangkok. An added plus, this joint comes with live music(felt sorry for the singer because it's usually noisy and most diners didn't care to listen), fast turn over of happy satisfied customers bec service is quick & efficient. Young/millenials servers help & got ea other's back, specially newbies that need help in translation from Thai to English. Extensive menu but what else is there to order but the usual. I have experimented in the past but always come back to the basic... So me & my friend ordered the following Phad Thai, Tom Yung Gum(fish, chicken or beef or shrimp), bbq chicken, sweet & sour Tofu, most Thai restaurants interchange the main ingredients and I like the flexibility of it. This time I didn't order my favorite crispy catfish in sauce but instead a whole trout deep fried and crisp to the max. For haven's sake, this dish has elevated my love for Thai food and this particular dish worth mentioning and recommending. A slow mo moment..., ... For sure it will be included in my death bed, foods to eat before I die.... And so I couldn't get over the crispiness of every single part of this fish from it's head to fin/s to skin to bones. You could literally eat the whole thing...I mean the whole freakin' fish w/ eyes wide open, I meant the fish... It's probably deep fried in peanut oil, but it has an amazing sauce that sets it apart and make it sooo special. It complemented the meat of the fish that we knew was soaked in sizzling oil. It's lemony, no no no, it's lime, you really can distinguish the citrus flavour and concoction of various thai secret spices. Unlike most thai thick sauces mix w/ coconut milk, cream, milk or corn starch this sauce is actually a little bit watery and clear almost like liquidy or liquified. This is a very special dish and comes w/ beautiful presentation in a fish shaped metal/aluminum plate. You gotta eat it w/ rice, scoop and lick the sauce to the last drop Thai Patio's dishes will make you keep coming back. The distinctive taste will linger in your palate and in your system for days... BEWARE: This particular dish is not for the faint of heart and may offend people who only eat fish filet. It's dark, with skin, a full head and eyes shut or wide open and lookin' at you..., ..., ...kid!

Lunch Special

By Taleen B |

Ordered Thai B.B.Q chicken lunch special. The chicken tasted old and even looked discusting. The fried wonton was burned. The steamed rice was very good. I told waitress chicken tasted old and she told me they got it in that day. I'm wondering from where. I won't be back

Dinner

By mberthet04 |

This restaurant was recommended to me with rave reviews so I had high expectations. We were seated immediately in the patio which was great! We ordered calamari as an appetizer, and my husband ordered Phad Thai with shrimp and I got the deep fried whole trout. The reason why I'm rating this a 3 is because my husbands dinner came first and we had to wait about 10min for our calamari and then another 10min for my trout! The mango salsa/salad on the trout was delicious but the trout itself was a bit over cooked. The husband said Phad Thai was good but not enough shrimp, and the calamari pieces were quite large which made them a bit chewy.

One of the best and affordable....

By arddwrld |

This is one of the best Thai restaurants I've patronized. Best of all, you don't have to love spicy food to enjoy a meal here. There are dishes that are not spicy or you can request that they serve the hot sauce separately. We had dinner here on a Friday night - the place was well-patronized. The live solo singer/instrumentalist added to a pleasant ambience. Some of the dishes we ordered were Prawn Pad Thai, Sole salad, and my favourite - Fried trout and mango. All great tasting.

Terrible Service

By floracupcake |

The food was reasonably priced. Portions were big. The service was HORRIBLE. My husband and I came in around 6pm. We got sat and had our drink orders taken. Took about a good 10 minutes for our drinks to get delivered. From where I was sitting I could see the servers dancing to the rap music that was playing on blast that had curse words in it. Which seem odd because there were families with children sitting right next to us. I ordered chicken panang which tasted good by the way. And it actually came out quick. My husband was just having a beer and was going to do a take out order when I was close to being finished. Well our server never came once to come check on us. Which I find very rude... we sat for about 10 minutes after I was done and I waved down another server to get us our check. We never got our take out order ordered. By that time we were over it. The restuarant was not that busy either.. food was good. But we will not be coming here again.

Good Food, Average Service

By Jon Matson |

This used to be our favorite Thai restaurant in LA. The food here was always delciious, the service was always great, and the prices are right. However my last two experiences here have markedly changed my opinion of this place. The place was much less crowded too the last time we went there, so I get the feeling that others have noticed the changes. The Tom Kha Kai soup that we always get and always love, was watery, and had little coconut flavor this time, and the chicken was tough. The waiters took a very long time to come for our order, which in the past never happened. We had to flag them down for everything we needed. They did not come to our table otherwise. They were not busy either as there were not very many people eating there. There are better choices for Thai down the street. Try Palm Thai, we recently went there and we loved it. It is what Thai Patio used to be.

Good Thai Food

By Zilfo |

Great place to have a good Thai grub. Ordered the grilled Chicken ($9), Choo Chee Prawns ($19), and Ho Mok Talay ($13). The food was cooked to perfection and the tab did not break the bank. Friendly service and family oriented atmosphere in Thai Town (East Hollywood). Seating indoor or outdoor. Highly recommended.

Good Services!

By BangkokSachse |

The restaurant is in Thai Town. We had to pay for the valet parking. The waiters and the waitresses provided excellent services. The fish dishes were delicious. The restaurant was nice and clean.

Great food, popular with locals

By Kary A |

Came here twice recently. The food was good and prompt and the casual atmosphere was really nice. On Sunday evening they have a piano player and the place is packed!

Delicious affordable Thai food!

By Marc C |

We ordered shrimp pad thai and chicken yellow curry with brown rice. Everyhing was delicious and we are sad we only went here on our last night in LA. Staff was nice too.

Casual place with good food

This place has good food at a reasonable price. The atmosphere is casual. Service is fast and efficient. Loved the keyboard player singing 80's songs--awesome.

Top of Thai Town

By LosFelizLarry |

Thai Patio is one of FIVE (count 'em, FIVE) Thai restaurants in this U shaped mini-mall in the heart of LA's Thai Town neighborhood. The interior is a large mess-hall style room, with long rows of tables (and an outdoor patio on the Boulevard). The spacing between the tables allows enough privacy for a couple as well as providing the opportunity to have a banquet for a dozen or more. The atmosphere is lively and the energetic wait staff are polite and responsive. The food is of high quality and generous portions. The menu is, like that of many Thai restaurants, extensive. Clear explanations of the dishes including a lot of photos help the uninitiated. We have never had a disappointing dish here. AMong our favorite appetizers are the fried tofu (creamy cubes of tofu, VERY lightly Panko-ed) served piping hot topped with ground peanuts; and the fried squid, again very lightly breaded, cooked spot-on tender with a tangy dipping sauce. There are some extremely tasty salads including the popular LArb et al but we have ventured into salads that are extremely tasty including Nam Tok with cooked ground pork mixed with toasted rice and spices among others. Main dishes are also a sure bet. Among our favorites are the Spicy Basil Fish and the Garlic Spare ribs. The menu is enormous and my advice is to explore. Beer and wine are available.

Cheap and cheerful.

Massive portions, tasty food, plenty of choice and good value.Within walking distance of motel and they will box up any leftovers.

Terrific Thai

By Terry L |

Ice been coming here for years. My favorite Thai place in Hollywood’. We like to come here before seeing a show at Pantages theater. Everything is good, service is quick and friendly, and it’s very inexpensive. It’s located in a plaza full of Thai restaurants but we always choose this one. Lots of seating inside and outside. The only drawback is the required valet for the whole lot but it’s only $3.

Affordable Place with Great food

By wolfhomma |

Parking in Thai Town is not easy. After a long trip from out of town, we just stopped where there was a sign announcing valet parking in front of a large number of Thai restaurants. The valets were very skillful in parking our car into a tiny spot. I asked one of them who had the best seafood and he pointed to Thai Patio. It turned out to be a good choice. Thai Patio is a large place that serves food in a clean but basic environment. I do not know how Thai Patio compares to other places nearby, but I can say that the service was fast and friendly and that the selection of food items was very large. Everything was delicious. I had been in Thailand two times and always enjoyed their Tom Ka soup. Thai Patio's version could easily compete. Two things you have to be aware of: When they mean hot, it is hot for Americans, but not Thai hot. So if you want spicy food, you need to order the hottest grade. Second, the portions are sizable. If you are tempted to sample a lot, you get a lot, and you get a lot to take home. We like the soft live music presented by various artists from a stage inside the large dining room,

Taste for Food it's Very good, Place Comfort & for the Price not Expensive . But if Drive a Car must Valet parking. U must try if come to LA

Favorite place in Thai Town!

By Brittany_11_10 |

Having been to Thailand, and experienced the wonder that is traditional and local Thai food, I have to say that Thai Patio is just about the closest you can get to Thailand w/o paying $1,500 for a plane ticket over there. It's easily the best restaurant in Thai Town (having tried almost all of the others) and on its own, even not being compared to other Thai restaurants, it's awesome. Fast and friendly service, great value, delicious food (especially pad thai and any of the curries), relaxed atmosphere, been numerous times and never disappointed!

Good Thai Restaurants

Thai restaurants can be found in most US major cities but on the whole they are quite average. This place was very good.

We were suggested by some friends that we must visit Thai town in LA if we can during our vacation. Despite the long drive to get there from SoCal, it was a Sunday Evening and very busy. Parking is difficult, but managed to find metered parking about 2-3 blocks away on N. Western Ave. There are several Thai restaurants in the area but we were hungry and basically chose the first we saw that didn't look like there was a huge line. The restaurant was very busy but we managed to get seated quickly. All tables seemed to lineup together like a communal setting. If you want more privacy, this place isn't it. Selection one the menu was amazing. Almost too much. Hard to choose. Having eaten in Thailand and have friends that cook, we had a good idea on what was authentic. I'd say they did a pretty good job outside of Thailand that is. Unfortunately for us, our meal was ready but got delivered to the table next to us by mistake. The table next to us didn't even realize it, which is kinda odd consider they should have an idea what they ordered. Anyways, the confusion was soon sorted and we got our meal soon after. It was very reasonably priced and the quality, flavors and portions are what to be expected. I always find with Thai restaurants that they never serve enough rice compared to say other Asian restaurants like Vietnamese. This place was no different. You could always order more. On our next trip, we'd love to visit Thai town again sample other restaurants and perhaps visit this one again.

Authentic Thai food, great value for money

By Mark H |

This place is always busy even on a Sunday night - that's a good sign. Beautiful freshly cooked food and friendly efficient service. Highly recommended.

I go there every time I'm in Hollywood

By FREQ_DINER10 |

It's all about the food ... The decor and atmosphere are non-existent, but the service is fast and efficient and the food is incredibly tasty and fresh. I love everything with shrimp, the prawns are gigantic, always well prepared, not chewy or mushy. The seasoning on everything is spot-on, no need for more, the soups are huge and delicious. All the noodle dishes are amazing. The Chinese stuff that the kids order is OK for them, I never tried it. They have a very extensive menu, it takes forever to decide, so we just start ordering and then decide as we go how much we can handle. Oh, and I forgot to mention the main thing: IT'S CHEAP!

Great food and nice place to eat if you are single.

By Saraleemacdonald |

The Thai Patio doesn't disappoint. The Chicken Sa-te is yummy and the Pahd Thai shrimp had good flavor. I can't wait to eat here again!

Affordable, Large Portion Served Hot

By Royston S |

Had a taste for Thai food. A friend recommended the Thai Plaza. I thought this was the name of the restaurant only to find that it a small u shaped strip with many different Thai restaurants. How to choose.... He recommended the Thai Patio. Interior is nothing to write home about but the staff is nice and friendly. We shared Fresh Chicken Ginger Stir fry Kai Kua Noodle w Tofu and the Banana dessert. The portions are easy to share and the price is reasonable so it wont break the bank. Worth a return visit. If I have a negative is they had someone singing as entertainment as it was too loud.

A hidden gem, delicious food great value

By Michael T |

We found this little place near the end of our L.A visit. They had a lunchtime special on and we got bang up meals for very cheap. My partner is Gluten free and lots more and was also very satisfied with the options available... Loved it!!!

A lot of rice

By StationToStation |

Good or great Thai food is a great sensation for the taste buds. Unfortunately, while this restaurant is inexpensive and it was full, the food really is quite bland. They have plenty of dishes with rice as the base. With so many great Thai restaurants in LA I think you can skip this one.

Best Thai food ever

By Katy04 |

We tried this restaurant because of the reviews on trip advisor. We were not disappointed! This was the best Thai food we had ever had. We ordered tom yum gai soup, orange chicken, bbq ribs, combination fried rice, and thai special salad. All were great!!! The service was slow...as other reviewers said..but when we started eating..we forgot about that. The only real negative was the valet parking at lunch. They blocked off all the available parking spaces in the little strip mall parking lot with cones then forced you to valet park your car. Our car was parked next to the restaurant but we had to walk past it and go to the valet stand.I totally understand this on a busy night, but at 2:30 in the afternoon the lot was almost empty. It felt like a scam!!

One of the best casual Thai places I have been too in SoCal.

By Lisa-Anne F |

LOVE their food, prices and portion sizes. Ambiance is not good at all and service iffy. The portion sizes were huge and we took home lots of leftovers. The veggies were all very fresh tasting. What I loved most is that they piled the veggies on in all their dishes. Often times in Thai places there are veggies in the meals but not a huge amount. The food was all really yummy and piping hot and freshly made. Can't wait to go back.

Great food!

By MatureTravellers2904 |

Found this place by accident and glad we did. It is usually a good sign when a restaurant is busy. We were not disappointed. Great meal and would thoroughly recommend. Even better, the meal was quite inexpensive.

Average veg option , good non veg options

By anuag |

I had gone here for my dinner, so except for veg roll there was not any option for vegeterians. In their Menu options there are some non veg items which they can convert into vegeterian, which was good. All my friends who eats non-veg , they liked the food. Best this about this restaurant was the music. The singing lady had a very good voice. Overall good ambience.

Thai Patio in Thai Town

Great vibe and atmosphere, especially when they have a musician playing. The food is quite good and the staff is friendly too. Great place to hang and eat!

Best of the Thai restaurants in Thai Town

By EydneW |

This is my absolute favorite Thai restaurant in all of Los Angeles. I visit on a regular basis. The food is incredible, the prices are fantastic, and service is great. Good for vegetarians. I like the live music on the weekends too. Parking is a total drag, but what can you do?

Parking, service, abundance, taste.

By mel1150 |

Parking in the strip mall was by valet, water was served immediately, drink orders were taken promptly, appetizers served quickly, dinner orders taken a little more slowly. There were six of us and two main entrees were served quickly, two more about five minutes later and the last two were served about ten minutes after the first four. I was told this is common in this type of restaurant. Were were all sharing, so it seemed to have less effect, but...to some it may matter a little more. The portions were definitely for Western civilization. Of the six only one entree was totally consumed. I had to ask if the meal was for free or would we be asked if we wanted anything else before getting the check. Once the bill arrived and cards submitted the return was lightning fast. I wouldn't suggest going for the atmosphere, there is none. All the appetizers were very good and there are more than 140 items on the menu. It isn't the first time I have had a similar experience, but do not appreciate children of employees under the age of five spending time at the restaurant while the parent is working.

Saturday afternoon Lunch

By Ninachka1 |

My son and granddaughter invited me to lunch today. My granddaughter loves Thai food and they decided to bring me here. I am glad they did. First, the service was excellent. The place is very clean and the prices are reasonable. The food is very good. We chose a variety of dishes and liked everything. Am now having the leftovers for dinner at work. Enjoying it again. Will be back.

Cheap, very good food, absolute value for money, live music

By Harold1974 |

It's all in the title, friendly waiters, live music. It is not a 5-star restaurant, but it is really worth it. Valet parking and do not forget ot take the Com Fried Rice (it is huge with meat / fish at own choice) + chicken satay with peanutbutter sauce (it is very common in The Netherlands (originally from Indonesia) and is delicious).

Probably my favorite Thai restaurant as far as purely great food for the price, my friends and I never had a dish there...

By TyCarlisle LA |

Probably my favorite Thai restaurant as far as purely great food for the price, my friends and I never had a dish there we didn't love (update, I'm a liar, my friend jesse didn't like his pad thai he reminds me, it was a little boring I agree), and their lunch specials are unbelievable: $3.99 gets you an entree, small thai salad, rice, and fried wonton. The spicy basil lunch special is by far my favorite dish to grab quick while on my lunch break (they don't do delivery at the hollywood blvd. location unfortunately). Also, warning to white people, I eat spicy food all the time and love it, but I gotta warn you they will kick you in the face with the fiery food at this place, so make sure to order mild if you can't handle the heat (they always ask first). I normally get medium spicy and it definitely makes my whole face sweat but I still love it. Located in the space vacated by Thai Elvis and the old Palms restaurant, this place is open late and has live music most evenings.

Cockroaches thia style

By luvmaui78935 |

We went to this restaurant after reading the reviews on tripadvisor. the food was tasty. Half way into our meal we heard the people sitting close by call the server to report that they had found a piece of plastic bag in their meal. Bummer I thought. About 5 minutes later as i was about to sip my soup I found a large roach floating in it. Disgusting!!!. the owner was sittling in the tables in front and didn't even come to talk to us. they did take care of the check but I have not been able to eat Thia food again. DON'T GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. NOTHING IS WORTH EATING ROACHES!!!

5 for food, 2 for service

By ProfMercator |

Pleasant place for good Thai food. I'm no expert but the eggplant basil I had and green curry my husband ordered were both enjoyed. I'm a Midwestern whimp when it comes to spice so mild was plenty spicy for me. The problem came with the service. Efficient order taken and drinks delivered by our waitress. Then the confusion started. We had ordered an appetizer but before that came my eggplant served by a young man who did not understand what we were saying when we asked about the appetizer. I did not start on my dinner because my husband had not been served. After a few minutes, a server came and took my plate away saying it was a mistake. ??? What happened to that dish of food I do not know. Then we got our appetizer. Very good. Then my husband and I were each served our dinner but before we had a chance to take a bite, these dishes were whisked away, mistake again. I do think I saw these being delivered to another table. Finally, our dinners came and stayed long enough for us to enjoy them. And enjoy them we did. I do recommend Thai Patio. Just be aware of potential service problems.

Yum

By Pam F |

My husband and are not lovers of Thai food but found this place really good when we were in LA a few years ago. Decided to try it again tonight and yum, it was just as good as we remembered it to be. Fair pricing, good size serves and lovely food. We'd definately go back if we get back to LA.

I liked it....

By MarcinDrP |

We went there for dinner... Portions were large... Food was very good... Food was not over-expensive... (in the low end of $$ and $$$). Is this the best Thai food I ever had? No, it is not... Is this a good food after a log day of walking and visiting... it surely is! ;-) Would I go back -- definitely!

Great little stop

By Dandrburke |

Stopped here since we were starving and traffic was hideous. Oh was yum. Clean and had super nice waitress. Wish I remembered her name. Everything everyone ordered tasted great. We got something with egg noodles and it was soooo good! Good prices. Would def eat here again.

Out of the 3 adults who frequent Thai restaurants on a regular basis, we all felt the dishes were super

By Judith A |

Our orders of Tom Ka Gai soup, duck noodles, BBQ Squid, and wild Boar were all above other versions of same dishes from other Thai restaurants. Not so spicy either, just deliciously picante. And very good prices too.

Average Thai

By Michael G |

Its a busy place, looks like a cantina. Nice friendly staff, quick service. We took 4 different platter. The taste was good but they charge you USD 1.5 for rice. Its a ok restaurant.

We couldn't ask for anything more

By Kn0ck0ut_Zed |

My wife and I were brought here by our friend while we were visiting L.A. Everything we had here was delicious. I don't know what else to say. We were entertained, served well, ate well, with no frills.

Great Cuisines

By JCFave |

That was the first time for me to dine in at this remarkable restaurant. The foods were great and delicious enough to meet my taste on Thai cuisines. Delightful and neat place to have meals. Great!!

Great if you know what to get, awful if you stick to the basics

By FilmEatDive |

So, Thai Patio is a bit of a funny restaurant. If you are not an adventurous Thai eater and you stick to things like Pad Thai or Tom Kha, you probably won't be very happy. Then again, you probably don't eat a lot of real Thai food, so maybe you will. I lived in Thailand for a number of years, so I personally enjoy seeking out some of the harder to come by items and Thai Patio has a number of great offerings as far as hidden gems are concerned. The eggplant salad here is wonderful, the lard is top notch and totally authentic and any dish with the century eggs is yum yum delicious. So if you are looking for a genuine Thai experience here, avoid the famous dishes and try something a little more adventurous, you won't be disappointed.

Not for Vegeterians

By DKD |

The service in this restaurant was slow. They have plenty of options, however for vegeterians this is not the place to go. They can customize and take the meat/fish out, however, then it loses it's taste. You are better off finding a different restaurant. There is paid parking available onsite but is mostly unavailable. You can use paid public parkings nearby. The live music in the restaurant was great.

Authentic & Delicious Thai Food in LA!

THE BEST Thai food I've ever had. Served fast and with a smile. High quality, large portions of food served around the clock. Its my go-to Thai restaurant while anywhere in LA basin.

Some of the best Thai food in LA

By Jahkeim C |

I've been here many times and the food is amazing each and every time. I agree with some reviews that the service can be a little bit better. When I go I usually get the red curry (spicy!!) and the garlic pork cuts (SOOOOO good). They also have a really great selection of beers from Asia here too and they are all like 5-7 bucks. I went to Thailand last year and this is food that definitely comparable to what you would find in Bangkok. I would for sure recommend it to anyone!

Spice life but not spicy

By Chinnawat T |

Number of seats with good atmosphere, Good price but not fully Thai ingredient. Not very spicy as I expected even I ordered very very spicy. Not wait too long for food, reasonable price in town.

Legit Thai restaurant

By anitaeat |

Legit Thai restaurant with coconut water that comes fresh in a young coconut. I had their version of beef pho and it was pretty good. Their spicy mushroom soup is just wow amazing. This was only a couple of hours after I had Mr. Chow so I was still pretty full to have anything else. [-]

Really a good choice!!

Thank you Thai Patio. I really enjoyed my dinner. I went solo as I often do. It was fabulous. Highly recommended. Awesome menu. Great prices. Just minutes from the Dolby Theatre. Loved it❤️

Excellent service, great prices & yummy food! Couldn't ask for more! Was a very enjoyable meal. And the food arrived quickly.

Large portions and cheap prices

By Jenppaful |

We ate few different tofu meals and the portions were huge! We got half of the food with us, because we could not eat all. Food was quite good, but I missed more authentic flavor and spices. Fortunately they had different sauces like soy and chili sauce at the table, so you could add some more flavor by yourself. Good service!

Went to the Thai Patio with a friend and had a delicious meal! I got the soup which was sooo good and the patio noodles which I probably wouldn't eat again....but I would go back. The soup was that good!

Really good food, great prices

By Matt A |

I used to live in Thailand so I know good Thai food, and this place has it! I think others agree, as this place was very crowded, but it's a large restaurant so you shouldn't have to wait long. Also, the prices are great - we're talking $7 - $10 per dish - way cheaper than most LA Thai places. If you happen not to like it here, there are several others next door, as it's located in Thai Plaza. Don't expect 5-star service, as the all-Thai waitstaff seemed mostly interested in just keeping hip with the pace of the restaurant. Also, parking out front is valet, otherwise there are street meters on surrounding streets.

Informal and good value

By Neatham |

It was great to find so many Thai restaurants and shops all located round a small parking lot (valet only). I was recommended Thai Patio by a colleague and was not disappointed. The food was very fresh, plentiful, and with great flavours. The staff were happy to make any dish vegetarian, so I had papaya salad without the dried shrimp, and a wonderful chilli-spiced green bean stir fry with tofu. There wasn't much choice of wine, but the food was very good, and the prices are very reasonable.

Best Thai in town!

By MooshLA |

Smack dab in the middle of Hollywood’s Thai Town, this place has always been my go-to for truly authentic and well priced options. Fast service and spice if you want it. Easy parking as well.

My favorite Thai food in Thai Town!

By Thea F |

I live right near Thai Town and have the choice of many Thai restaurants when I'm in the mood for Thai cuisine, or just a cheap quick dinner. However, I keep coming back to Thai Patio, and bringing new friends with me. It's a place with a tranquil interior, full of wood accents and white walls and dim lighting, with a charming enclosed patio. The restaurant also happens to serve consistently good food. My bf and I eat there quite often; we like the red curry a lot; it's a good standby for people who are inclined toward the tried and true. He also loves the jungle curry because he's a hot, spicy chili fanatic. I'm a fan of the massaman curry myself; it's rich and aromatic, with perfect seasoning. We tend to get these curries with fried tofu, by the way. We also like the spicy eggplant with basil and garlic, though I had a gluten reaction to it and can't at it anymore. It's really tasty for non-gf eaters. The curries are all a-ok for gluten-free diets, though. Be sure to avoid anything with soy sauce if you avoid gluten. That means no more tasty drunken noodles for me, which is a shame, because their drunken noodles are great. Get them if you can eat gluten! :) You can get out of this restaurant for around $10 per person after tip, if you just get a main dish. Their servings are plentiful, too, so that might be all you need. While the appetizers are good (I'm a fan of the fresh rolls with mango and mint leaves), getting one plus your main course will absolutely deluge you with food and leftovers. Then again, maybe you want that! Try the chrysanthemum drink or the ginger drink, or perhaps the Thai iced tea, if you're feeling thirsty. And be aware that when you order rice, you can order brown rice. To summarize, this place is cheap, tasty, has a beautiful and classy ambiance, and is consistently good. I wholeheartedly recommend Thai Patio to anyone passing through or around Thai Town!

Great Food at Reasonable Prices

Returned again to this Hollywood favourite Thai restaurant and enjoyed the food and service once again. Unbelievably, this restaurant was recommended to my Thai wife by a Thai server in a nearby Thai restaurant that we were eating in a few years ago. We visit this restaurant every time we go to LA and have enjoyed it now approx 8 times. The menu is extensive and food is authentic Thai and served by young staff who are all polite and efficient Thai speaking so my wife can ensure that our orders come exactly the way we wish. Prices for food and Thai beers are reasonable. They have added a small street side patio which may be nice in the right weather conditions. Parking can be found nearby for free on the streets to avoid the ridiculous valet lot that serves this small 10 store plaza. This is the only downside to this restaurant and easily avoided. Will definitely eat here again when in Hollywood ....near Hollywood Blvd and Western in Thai Town.

Good food for good money!

By CityTripGirL_RoX |

This restaurant really serves good food. It really is value for your money. The services however isn't that good. Sometimes they have too few personel, this makes long waiting times... even for your drinks... Go there for the food, not for the service!

Second and Third Impressions Not As Good As the First

By AugustoMonteverdi |

My first visit to this restaurant was for lunch, and I really like the dish that I ordered: Crispy Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli. The pork was indeed crispy, and there was very little toughness that often accompanies fried-till-well-done meat. For appetizer, I ordered the Fish Cake, which, unfortunately, was ordinary. However, the lunch, overall, was satisfying that I decided to order dishes to take away: the Chu-Chee Giant Shrimp, a huge portion of huge shrimps in curry, and the Jerky Pork, fried meat--again--served with tangy dipping sauce. Both the Chu-Chee Giant Shrimp and the Jerky Pork were not terrible, but ordinarily, they would not have lured me back. I never had curry that has shredded raw cabbage in it. But somehow what I remembered the most was how good my lunch was, so I decided to come back--this time with a friend. For dinner. I ordered Crispy Pork Belly with Basil, which is one of my favorite dishes. The dish came loaded with shredded raw cabbage, onion, and bell pepper. And this time the pork had all the toughness of fried-till-well-done meat.

We have our dinner here. The price is very reasonable and the portion is big! We ordered pad Thai and salad. There is a live music performance on stage. Love the Thai ambience.

Nice restaurant in heart of Thai Town, Lps Angeles

By TravelingParent1 |

Nice restaurant in Thai Town. Decent prices. Got the Thai Beef Salad which was tasty but the steak meat was a little tough. I got the ground chicken larb and it was really good. I was told the Spicy Thai Basil was really delicious. My son got the pork fried rice but it didn't have strong enough flavor. You have to buy your rice separately. Not sure why rice wouldn't come with your dishes. Got the Thai Iced Tea and it was good but a little too sweet.

Average Food

We were there for Lunch. Location is conveniently located on Hollywood Blvd. Has decent parking. Service was quick and portion sizes are large. However, taste was pretty average and food was kind of cold.Service is not great. Would not visit again.

Amazing food!

We were looking for some good Thai food after a day out in LA! This place did not disappoint! Very clean and friendly service. I will say that the portions are huge! Sharing plates would be highly recommended! You will not be disappointed if you stop here!

Solid Thai Meal!

I got the drunken noodle, wife got the pineapple fried rice. Both of us enjoyed our meals, which were prompt and with good service. Location was tricky to find. Would recommend.

Tired & hingry

By Amanda |

We popped in here as it was super busy which is normally a good sign plus we were so hungry. The waitress had a real job understanding what we were saying (we're English but this is a common problem we have found in America)! Anyway we got there eventually and ordered some food. We had to send our mixed started back twice as it was still cold/frozen in the middle. The mains were just a lot of deep fried freezer food. We weren't impressed at all. Reasonably priced but just average food.

Just Average Thai

First time eating here, we ordered sampler platter & chicken satay to start and they were really good. For main course i got fried filet fish basil (it was overly salty) and my friend had green curry chicken (it was very good). We were there around 8pm and it was pretty busy so basically no service at all...the waitress just took the order & dropped the check (after asking many times for the check) never checked our table whether everything was right or not. Since the food was pretty close to authentic thai food, i would come back to try something else on the menu.

Damn good Thai food for...

Damn good Thai food for killer low prices. Hadn't been to that spot since it was the Palms. I'm a bit of a Thai food snob and that is the only reason I hold out on the 5 stars. (you don't see too many Thai at the joint - think more hipster.) But overall I was super pleased with the meal and the four dishes we had were only $30!

Fabulous Late Night Meal

By DLLLA |

We were at an event near Thai town and stopped at one of my partner's favorite restaurants. We happily shared a saki and beer and while ordering, the waitress was able to assist me in getting a salad I wanted called Nom Sod (although with a slightly different title and in the same vicinity of the menu) as their Nom Sod has pork, but I was looking for the one with ground chicken with ginger. It was spectacular. We also shared the seafood volcano curry ... again, the flavors were so complimentary. We asked for medium spice on both and it was perfectly spiced to the point I needed no other sauces.

Good authentic Thai Food

This is not a place to eat alone if you want to taste good combinations of eating Thai food the way Thais do. The food is as authentic as in Thailand and the portion is big with affordable price. The place is big and clean, and can accommodate both big groups and small groups. Staff were very efficient and helpful. I was there on Tuesday night and got a treat with live music as well.

Amazing thai food!

Quick service, delicious food. Plates are big, We had two appetizers and two other plates and couldn’t finish all. We had the leftovers the following night which we never do back home. Wish we had a restaurant like that in Montreal

Great Thai in Thai Town

By dantex |

I was in West Hollywood and really hungry for Thai. I drove down Hollywood Blvd and crossed the Hollywood freeway through Little Armenia in to Thai Town. There are tons of little Thai cafes but did have a clue which to try. I pulled into this place and I'm glad I did. It seemed popular by the busy mid sunday afternoon crowd. The waitstaff were very friendly and smiling. I ordered Tom Yum Gai, shrimp rolls, and roasted duck. The Tom Yum is some of the best I've had outside of SE Asia. I would opt for the spring rolls over the shrimp next time. The shrimp rolls were good but I prefer something with fresh veggies and the roasted duck was delicious. I didn't leave room for sticky rice and mango but I did take a Thai tea for the road. The rooms is VERY causal with long community like tables with fish sauce and chiles. The price is very reasonable. The service was uneven but not at all bad. It's now my favorite Thai place in LA. They have a stage for live music too.

Best Thai food in LA

By ramonaruby |

After our honeymoon trip to Thailand we searched for Thai food that was close to the real-deal that we ate in Thailand. Thai Patio is that place. Located in Thai Town (just east of Hollywood), the prices are great, and the food is great, authentic Thai. My faves are the pork Thai fried rice and the green curry chicken or pork.

Good option in Hollywood

Good food, friendly and efficient service, very reasonable prices. Dishes adapted to western taste (not too spicy), but very tasty. Full recommendation.

Affordable & Tasty Thai Food

When I venture to Thai Town this a good go-to spot. It's affordable and has great portion sizes. If you have them make it very spicy they will so be prepared if you can't handle heat.

Dissapointed

I was super excited to try a restaurant in Thai Town LA. I noticed this place had the most customers so I would give it a try. I had fried rice, pad thai and fried trout thai style and I didn't like any of the food. I eat a lot of Thai food- maybe 4 times per week and this was the worst I have had in a long time. All three dishes- especially the pad thai were cooked too long and overly sweet. I don't recommend this restaurant.
