Tuesday's are discount sushi night!

By vertrude |

I just went this past Tuesday to cash in on the specials. From the outside, you may think it is a whole-in-the-wall, as it is located in a shopping center. But they did the interior quite nicely. They offer nigiri, rolls, and sashimi platters at a discounted price, but dine-in only. I ate at the restaurant, then took some home for lunch the next day and had to pay full price on the take home order. The salmon was delectable. It is my favorite nigiri, and it was very tasty. I ordered the spicy tuna roll for my next-day lunch and found it very typical of a sushi roll. That isn't a bad thing, but rolls are rolls to me.

Good Thai Food

By mootooaj |

We went with our friends and they had made reservations for four at 6:15 (we arrived a bit later due to traffic). However, upon arrival we got seated right away. The server was at the table immediately to serve us. Service was very good. We ordered coconut marinated chicken on skewers with peanut sauce and steamed fresh basil-shrimp roll with tamarind sauce for appetizers. Chicken skewers were grilled and served with bread and grilled pineapple. Both were very tasty. Among the four of us, we ordered chicken with coconut curry sauce, shrimp with coconut curry sauce, veggies with basil brown sauce and wok fried sukiyaki (shrimp/squid/ fish/veggies with cellophane noodles and tofu sauce). Everyone enjoyed their meal. All but the chicken dish had one pepper symbol that meant some chillies in it. It was the right amount of heat. The veggie entree' was lacking, all it had was mostly beans and bell peppers. Asians are known for vegetables. But at this restaurant, they did not really have a vegetarian specified entree. However the sauce was great. (The waitress had assured us they will put broccoli, cabbage and mushrooms but hardly any were in the dish.) After dinner one person ordered some of their green curry sauce to go since they sell them. It took a long time before the order was filled. If you want to take home some sauce, make sure to order them with your meal so it would be ready when you are ready to go. Otherwise they will put you in line with the rest of the customers seated before they fill your sauce order to go.

Everything is Good But the Name

By bbails |

When this restaurant first appeared quite a few years ago I thought to myself this name must be a mistake. But no, it's not. The restaurant and it's name have lasted through the decades and there's even a second one in the Atlanta suburbs. So lets get to the food. The menu is large and offers many Japanese and Thai dishes you might be looking for, including sushi in great variety. The menu offered lots of pictures of dishes. The sushi selections, nigiri, rolls and special rolls were listed in strips going up and down the side of the menu, which made it somehow harder to search and choose from. Everything we ordered was very tasty and fresh, with large pieces of fish in the sushi and lots of seafood in the cooked dishes. The decor was pleasant and the server was very attentive. I'd go back, even if the name makes me uncomfortable.

It's okay for a Thai restaurant

By TooNy K |

I try the rainbow roll, Pad Thai, and Spicy Catfish on lunch. TheRainbow roll is not good, the fishes don't fresh. I had a better sushi dish before and this one is like, below average to me. The sushi rice tasted like plain rice, not much of sushi vinegar just a little bit of it. You could smell the vinegar in their rice, bit not the taste. I'll give it 2/5. Pad Thai, the color look good. A little bit sweet, if you want more sour you need to ask for the lime. I'll give it 3/5. Spicy catfish, this one is pretty good. the taste and smell is great. The fish is deep fried and taste ok. If you want something spicy, I would recommend this one. I'll give it 4/5.

Mega Sushi Boat for Four - WOW

By WaterBuffalo2 |

Recently visited Thaicoon with a family group. Some of us decided to order the Sushi Boat for Four. It was magnificent, and tasty. If you and a few friends are up for a delicious adventure, I recommend Thaicoon & Sushi Bar's Sushi Boat for Four.

Dependably good...

By roadwarrior100 |

I had lunch at Thaicoon last week, as I often do with work colleagues. Service is fast, which facilitates an easy out-of-office lunch when on a tight schedule. I'm not an adventurous person when it comes to food, so I'm afraid my review will be lacking for those who are. For example, I do not eat sushi. My "go to" menu is dependably good -- an order of spring rolls, salad with dressing on the side, and sweet and sour chicken, which is wonderfully NOT fried. My experience with the staff has always been great -- polite, efficient, and they tend to get to know the regulars, if not by name then by sight. There's also a small outdoor area to eat. Not a great view, as it overlooks the parking lot but a nice option during good weather. I like Thaicoon.

Amazing Sushi

By Foodie Sunny ☀️ |

Great sushi options that are fresh and well made. The restaurant has nice ambiance. The outside doesn't match the inside. There is outdoor seating.

Excellent Food, Service and Ambiance

By takenthekids |

We had a great dinner at Thaicoon. The food was great and the service was excellent. They were able to accommodate food allergies. The vibe was elevated but also comfortable. We had a variety of appetizers and main courses and everything was cooked perfectly or prepared (sushi) with care.

Love this place

By PsPowers |

The people are very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. AND, their sushi is as good as it gets in Atlanta. You can even get hot sake (my favorite) while many of the other sushi bars only want to sell you on the cold version. I don't think they have ever been to Japan. I always sit at the sushi bar. Their Thai is good too, but I make the cross town drive for their sushi.

Good atmosphere, avg sushi, good Thai

By hkhine |

Visited several times this year. Attentive service. Above avg sushi. Price is reasonable. Good Thai food. Good neighborhood eatery but not much memorable.

Never disappointed

By CarettaChick |

We have visited Thaicoon for lunch for years. The food and service have never disappointed. Everything from the pad thai to the sushi and the variety of curries are awesome. When we go as a group, all will agree the food is stellar. Never have to wait for a seat and for large groups, reservations are accepted.

Nice lunch venue

By bigaps |

A nice place to have lunch with an extensive menu, good food, quiet atmosphere, and attentive service. I've been here several times and it has been consistently good. The various sushi, sashimi, and nigiri combinations in bento boxes are very nice and reasonably priced.

A gem

By Wesstone |

Hidden in Sage Hill shopping center who would think there would be such a great sushi/ Thai place. Friendly staff and consistent great food.

Great good choices

By Speach4tay |

Restaurant has a great selection of sushi. The food is fresh anf the service is pretty well. Somewhat hidden in the corner of a strip mall/plaza but all in all a great place.

Great Pad Thai and lots of rolls to choose

By rjhope9 |

Thaicoon is close to me but took me two years to get to. It's a great little spot. Nice dine in, to go and delivery. I'd recommend the Pad Thai!!

Great Thai cuisin

By Vatana Nath |

I have been to many Thai restaurants, but Thaicoon and Shushi Bar is no doubt one of the best Thai restaurant I have ever been. The menu has many Thai appetizers, dishes, and desserts. I love Sumtam the most, it tastes like to authentic Sumtam I took while in Thailand.

Okay but I probably wouldn't return

By Thatsmyrita |

We split two rolls at lunch. Sadly, I cannot remember the name of either, but I know we ordered poorly. We wanted a spicy roll, but didn't want krab. Our server suggested a spicy tuna roll that sounded good. What she failed to mention was the Garlic Kimchi sauce that was poured all over the roll. In my mind, garlic and sushi do not go together, so I didn't anticipate that. Being allergic to garlic, this was a problem. Other than that, the other roll was wrapped in cucumber. it was better without the cucumber because it was a thinly sliced roll. The watery-ness of the cucumber overwhelmed the roll which otherwise had a nice crunch to it. Had tuna and salmon sashimi which were okay. If I went back, I would try their thai entrees, but I don't think I would try the sushi again.

Very good

By sicilianprincess1 |

We are huge fans of Thai food... this was very good. A little difficult to find but good food so it’s worth it. We had appetizers and sushi and some curries. All good size portions.

Great Thai food!

I have been eating at Thaicoon for years. The food is always fresh, consistent, and delicious. Very authentic Thai cuisine. Highly recommend.

Nice renovation of a neighborhood spot

By BillC612 |

Thaicoon has always been a reliable spot for Thai food and sushi. The recent renovation makes it brighter and more inviting. Still the same good food and friendly efficient service.

Authentic Thai

By Vtm R |

Especially the Sunday brunch a big shot. Very good and authentic Thai food. Most dishes are $10-15. So not to expensive. Very wide selection of food. The restaurant is very clean and modern and is in a facility which looks like an old Mediterranean restaurant.

Don't let the strip mall location steer you away!

By Azua |

My husband orders sushi; I order hot menu items only. It's a win-win at Thaicoon. The 'Boat for One' is a sushi feast that is beautifully presented. The Pad Thai is excellent, as are the Spicy Thai Basil stir-fry and fried rice. If you are sushi-reluctant, you are in the right place for a good hot entree. The location is a bit deceiving. It seems lost at the end of a quiet strip mall near a dilapidated CVS. But the interior is as surprising as it is sophisticated, clean, and charming. It would be a great date spot, but small groups seem easy to accommodate. I frequently get Thaicoon for takeout and it is packaged in reusable tupperware, makes it home hot, is generously portioned, and fairly priced.

Unassuming Thai and Sushi

By ttbryan1 |

I had never heard of this place, but a friend lives near this place and recommended it on a Saturday night for dinner for our party of six. Their location in Marietta was the original one with this one opening in the past few months. We arrived around 7:30 pm with no reservation and were immediately seated. The restaurant was busy, but not totally full. We started with drinks and I had the Allagash beer, which is always good. Some other people in my party had the Crispin Raspberry Lager, which was so good. I want to try it the next time I am there. We had some appetizers such as the Crispy Duck Roll (excellent), Spring Roll (excellent) and the Tea Rose (excellent). After the delicious appetizers, I split four sushi rolls with a friend: Hurricane Roll (excellent), Dragon Roll (excellent), Rainbow Supreme Roll (excellent) and Double Fantacy (good). Another person had the Panang Curry Chicken, which he really liked. We were so full from dinner that we did not have enough room left for dessert. The prices are a bit on the pricy side, but not too bad. The service was good. The place is very unassuming because it sits in a strip center anchored by a Kroger. This is a good date place for small group gathering for anyone into Thai or Sushi.

Extensive Menu. Delicious Food.

By Jerry L |

I have been to Thaicoon numerous times for lunch and recently went for dinner. Friendly and efficient service every time. The food is consistently good. Well prepared and presented. The seafood hotpot, pad thai, sushi and sashimi boxes (lunch), and all of the rolls are all tremendous. Asahi beer on tap and served in an ice-cold glass. Restaurant is in the Kroger shopping center near the back. Can be a little hard to find. Worth finding.

Great dollar sushi night!

By Mayson C |

This has been my family's go to sushi restaurant for the past five years or so. Monday and Tuesday are dollar sushi! The new decorations look great and the sushi is tasty and better than other dollar sushi nights I have been too. After 5 years, I've never had anything other than the sushi.

Premiere food served by a professional staff. One of my favorite Thai spots.

By PublicHealthRxDoc |

Came here in the evening just before driving to attend the entertaining, as well as informative "Real State of the Union" presented each year in Atlanta by WAND. Only had about 45 minutes to dine and checked with the staff to see if the dishes we were interested in ordering would be a problem, or not. They came through just fine, with plenty of time to spare. Shortly after they provided the hot towels they took our orders. We had an outstanding spicy sushi roll (a specialty for the day- about $10) and, while have had an excellent spicy catfish dish here previously, I ventured to try their fried rice and shrimp dish served in 1/2 a pineapple (~$12). Nice presentations, and the portions were generous, while prices were quite reasonable. A good selection of menu items for those who are vegetarians or who only eat fish, as well as for omnivores. The waitresses came by several times to check on us and were uniformly friendly. The setting here is pleasant, plenty of outside parking. There is outside seating, but as it is a strip mall parking lot, just down the mall from Krogers, a small gym, etc., it's not an attractive outside setting, even when the weather is warm enough. The interior is pleasant, and the lighting level just right. Thaicoon takes reservations, and also offers takeout. While most of the patrons were couples, it is nicely set up for familes as well. We anticipate coming here more often in the future as it is a pleasant place to take guests. I didn't give a high mark for atmosphere only in that the view is what it is. Please let Trip Advisor know if you think this is a useful review.

Fun first visit

By Scott M |

My friends love this place but I had never been so they took me last night. It is hidden in a strip mall that has been around forever. The menu has both Thai and sushi. We had a brief wait at peak dining time on a Saturday evening. There were large groups and small groups in the restaurant. Families, dates, and groups of adults. We ordered five different varieties of sushi, mostly uncooked but some cooked. It was fabulous. The service was excellent and the prices are good. We did not get any of the sushi boats that the restaurant is well known for, but I will next time (and there will be a next time). Highly recommend!

Very tasty

By kiak_13 |

I liked the food. Nice Thai varieties. I always get the same thing because it is so good. I need to try more items. This is nice for the night life and dating.

Has fallen off, unfortunately

By LaurenR |

We've been going to Thaicoon and Sushi Bar in Atlanta since they opened many years ago and have always had a good experience until this past Saturday night. I almost always get several appetizers, although, I've eaten many a sushi platter, there, and entrees, as well. Everything has always been amazing, but, something was off this past Saturday night. I hope it was just a fluke, but, there were 4 of us, and, of the 4, 2 had unacceptable entrees. The Pad Thai that my friend ordered was WAY over cooked and the chef was very heavy handed with the fish sauce on another dish. I could smell it across the table. They ran out of basil rolls (how does that happen???), but, my husband's and my sushi were terrific, so, obviously they still have a good sushi chef. The Kanisu, which is one of my favorites, was still wonderful, too. Just disappointed in the cooked dishes and the lack of basil rolls, which I love.

Great Curry, Great Atmosphere

By ssmith9179 |

Decor much nicer than most Thai/Sushi restaurants. Attentive service, nice presentation and very good thai food.

Great Thai Food and I live in Thailand.

By Marisako327 |

Of course it's a bit Americanized but it's still really great Thai food that is consistently good and has been for many years. I eat here regularly when I'm in the US. Their Penang Curry is one of the best things they do. That and the Curry Puffs Yum !

Beautiful Plate with Great Food

By Amanda P |

Great food! Pretty loud on at a Saturday night but both Thai seafood dishes and sushi were very impressive! Great service too. We will definitely go back but probably at a slower time.

Go to neighborhood spot

By orchid2090 |

We eat here at least twice a month, and they are always spot on. Service is friendly, delivery is lightning fast. For a neighborhood sushi/thai place, can't be beat. If you want to try something new, go for thai lunch on sundays for their special menu. Papaya salad is delicious

Good authentic Thai food and Sushi

By EHF |

Were there lately with an American/Thai couple leiving in Atlanta. It is the place were a lot of the Atlanta "Thai community" is gathering in the evening for food. The Thai food is very good and you can have it made really spicy; I went for Sashimi and I was very pleased with the quality od the fish.

Love the Bento Box for Lunch

By Teresa S |

We have lunch at Thaicoon several times per year. The bento boxes are our favorite and are a very good price for the quantity and quality of the food provided. The sushi is very fresh and the tempura is tasty and properly cooked. Each box comes with a choice of soup or salad. The Thai coconut chicken soup is excellent. Service is friendly and efficient.

Party of 8 had a wonderful dinner

By StevenHScher |

I have not been to Thaicoon for a while. We had 8 people including 2 children. The food & service were excellent. I had the sashimi dinner ($21.95), which was 15 pieces of assorted fish. It also came with choice of soup or salad. It was a large portion & it was excellent. We also shared 2 orders of edamame ($4.25 ea.). It was good. My wife had the Pad Thai ($11.95), which was so fresh & delicious, the shrimp were amazingly good. Our server Amber was excellent. The prices are reasonable & they have a very extensive menu.

YUMMM!

By KVdeV |

I love this place! the food is always good- whether it be sushi or thai. every Mon & Tues is dollar sushi night- limited menu, but good stuff. they have redecorated and it seems very.... "southern" or "chabby chic".... not very asian anymore, which is kind of weird. but still owned by the same good people. Try the Super Crunch roll, my favorite!

Masaman

By JJ_Surgi_Rep |

I had the volcano which was dry, they brought out the ginger salad which was atleast one day old - not fresh. But it's not really a sushi dominant place more an after thought. My wife said her drunken noodle dish was excellent and My daughter said her chicken MasamanI was good except the sweet potatoes were too hard and she set those aside. The house Pinot noire was excellent 2 adults, 2 kids: $82.00

Good food, bad service!

By lizie2oo3 |

Terrible service!!! The food wasn't bad, but the people there were so rude. It's a dollar sushi, but you have to order $6 minimum ( which is fine). My friend who had never had sushi before wanted to share a plate with someone so she could try it and decide if she wanted to order her own. They said, NO! you can't do that. We didn't want to make a fuss so we ordered the food. She didn't like it, so the plate was full and she wanted to take the sushi home. She didn't eat the sushi and she was going to pay for it. Then once again said, "NO!" You cannot take food you paid for home (keep in mind it's NOT a buffet). Then once again we didn't want to make a fuss so we paid and left. As we were talking outside they chased us down and said we didn't pay. So we (party of 8) all went back inside with our receipts. They couldn't tell us what item was "unpaid" but demanded money. We said, "OK, print out and itemized statement and we'll compare it to out receipts and figure it out." They said no! In the end they couldn't specify what was unpaid for, the manager wasn't there, and they were rude. I will never go back there again!

Jim Crow with an Asian twist?

By gwadloupeen |

As a world-traveler I can say that the food is very good, sometimes even excellent. Moreover, the place seems clean and reasonably pleasantly furnished. However, the reason the patrons are almost all White is that the attitudes towards divers clients leave much to be desired (to put it politely). During my last of three visits, which will therefore likely be my last, period, the waiter - a diminutive young Asian - was so prejudiced that he a) not only failed to understand my order, he b) refused to give me feedback on their main courses and in the end simply c) did not put in my order - which shocked me and my blond dinner companion (who, of course, did get served)! Jim Crow on the Square, but with an Asian twist?

Decent portions, fresh veggies

By HerrP |

Visited here for lunch because I had read good reviews. We enjoyed the meal. I had the broccoli platter with squid. The amount was plentiful and the thickly sliced mushrooms and bright green broccoli were fresh and good tasting. The rice as expected was substantial and cooked just right. But 2 things stood out: the miso soup, while teeming with tofu cubes, was lukewarm. Is that normal? Also, the squid rings which were big and numerous really didn't have much taste. So yeah, I was disappointed. Maybe more spices would have helped. But the brown sauce was good My friend's thai ice tea was good as was the Prik King lunch. We also ordered the Secret Bag, which were 3 deep fried pouches filled with one shrimp and one scallop with some kind of cream cheese type mix. I didn't have any, but my friends said they were very good. Dip 'em in the sauce and eat the whole thing at one time. The sticky rice with mango for dessert was fine as well. All in all, 3 of us had lunch for $40 plus tip. Not bad. As other reviewers commented, the inside is much more attractive than how it looks from the outside. Don't be fooled. I'd go again to try their other dishes. Enjoy.

Did the ginger spice guy call in sick today?

By TheSnoopytraveler |

We liked the look and feel from the get-go. It was convivial with a right-sized crowd: seemed to be filled but a nice table for two was immediately available. The ambience was nice with scrumptious looking dishes and enticing sushi platters going by. The petite wine list had a few good pairing wines for Thai. Soon we had two generous pours in front of us at value prices. On the menu was one of our favorite Thai dishes, Ginger Fish. It arrived looking delicious--delicately golden fried fish fillets topped with spices. The first bite was delightful with a slight tang and delicate ginger spice. But that was it, no more ginger or other spices. My better half asked our server for more ginger. We received a bowl full of sushi-style ginger and laughed about having to eat it all. However, we used every single piece to get some flavor going in our dishes. I may give Thaicoon one more try if I'm in the neighborhood because everyone else appeared to be really enjoying their food. It seemed like a great neighborhood place so Iet's just assume it was a bad night in the kitchen for the poor Ginger Fish. Next time, though, it'll just be sushi and appetizer samplers to see what else is there.

Sushi boat!!

By PaulFasano |

Ok the Sushi boat was awsome!! The staff very friendly and the restaurant was recently remodeled! I highly recommend going with friends. The miso soup was great!

Good Thai by Emory University

By TheMcLeanVAFive |

I am happy to report that as a vegan, there are many options. The eggplant salad was excellent. My daughter raved about the sushi. One negative note is that my wife's Pad Thai was at best average -- and most likely not very good at all. Not sure why, as all the other items were well made. The restaurant is in a strip mall next to a grocery store, so the ambiance is just OK, nothing special. The service was efficient and our server was helpful and knowledgeable, offering many options for my vegan needs.

Great sushi and thai food!

By Julie A |

Love the food here. Great green curry! The sushi is always fresh and well prepared. Great service and reasonable prices.

Good Variety

By Shibumi365 |

The sushi was good a fresh. The variety of rolls and pieces was good too. The only compliant was the prices seemed a bit high. Otherwise had a good visit.

Great Sushi Monday Nights

By toujoursparis1 |

It is in an unusual spot - a strip mall with a Publix, but walking inside the decor makes you feel like you've walked into some colonial Pacific island. The decor is wonderful, but just sets the tone for excellent food. Monday nights the sushi prices are slashed. Most of the rolls are $2 - $3. The sushi is excellent, but one of our party had the Siam Chicken which was also excellent. The presentation of it being served in half a pineapple that was hollowed out was as impressive as the dish itself. The service is excellent.

Heavenly!!!!!

By agbo22 |

Great food, great service, great ambience, great location..... wish I lived in Atlanta just so i could eat at this restuarant everyday....reasonably priced too.

Sushi lovers rejoice!

This was my first time here, it's in a storefront but when u walk inside. ...!!!! Such a lovely, calm and intimate atmosphere. Dimly lit, but not dark. Looks upscale. ..wine glasses on the table for constant water re-fills. The menu is extensive and very very affordable. It has pictures of the food so u can see what you're orderimg I ordered the volcano roll....9.95. It was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the lobster roll...17.95. They enjoyed every bite. I'd definitely come again!

Food was average but service was terrible

By HelpfulAngel |

We went here on a whim, the restaurant is quite pretty, the menu was pretty extensive, the food was pretty good, but the service was terrible! The waiter didn't really know what anything was, the service was super slow. We ordered bangkok fries, sushi and a curry, the sushi was good but the curry not so good.

The Best Pad Thai

By Willx |

I have been to Thailand several times down through the years, so have had authentic Pad Thai, the tasty noodle dish. So, I decided to try the Pad Thai at this restaurant along with a couple of basil rolls. The restaurant is very nicely appointed, service was fast and efficient, and I will definitely return. The Pad Thai was served piping hot and was as good as any that I have had anywhere, including Thailand. There were generous portions of chicken and shrimp mixed with the noodles and sauce and I thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The basil rolls were served with a mild peanut sauce and were no doubt made that evening as the freshness was just delectable. The noise level in the restaurant was very low even with a moderate crowd. People were actually able to have conversations with each other - unlike many places where the crowd noise plus too-loud music make conversation difficult or impossible - one of my pet peeves about places. Next time I'll try the sushi boat - I noticed one customer had that and it looked like great fun.

Attractive Decor, Very Good Sushi

By rfreeman2015 |

I have been going to Thaicoon for sushi for many years and find it enjoyable. The décor is attractive, the service is pleasant and the food is very good. In terms of quality, I rate the food just a notch below Atlanta’s elite sushi restaurants. The salad, for example, is mostly iceberg lettuce, which would not be the case at a Taka or a Hayakawa. The sushi itself is good and satisfying but does not propel you into temporary “ecstasy” like the sushi at several other establishments. Thaicoon is a little easier on the pocketbook than some other sushi restaurants, and I always leave feeling I had a positive experience.

Good Thai restaurant and Sushi

By oceanquest33 |

This is a good choice for Thai Cuisine with a very extensive menu. Sushi is very fresh and prepared in view of diners. Located in a shopping center with plenty of parking.

Great sushi

By StevenHScher |

We had the lobster roll which was excellent. We shared a soft shell crab appetizer, also very good. My son had the super crunch roll and the fried gyoza which were both excellent. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice.

Fantastic and Authentic

By Breezy88 |

I was amazed yesterday. My girlfriend is Thai and new to Atlanta--this is where her friends go, this is where she goes, and she took me while I was visiting. I'm a chef and try to recreate traditional recipes but they slapped me in the face with their food. The simplest special of yard-long beans with chiles and nam pla and I think some miniature boiled peanuts...blew my mind. Light, yet filling, and it's nice to have someone that speaks Thai to help you a litle bit. Go on Sundays--specials galore. Sea urchin roll. Tasted of the sea. Wonderful! Oh yeah---Tom Yum also. Support the good places regardless of strip mall locations!

A little of everything, but no mango rice pudding

By Phil Y |

A clean and neat place for a casual evening dining. The menu is mixed with Japanese and Thai food, a combination but not a fusion. One of our friends asked for mango rice as desert but they didn't have.

Very good neighborhood Thai restaurant

By BillC612 |

Thaicoon is a very good Thai and Sushi restaurant. It's inexpensive and the service is excellent. If you live nearby I would definitely recommend eating there rather than driving to some more distant Thai place.

Shopping Center Pearl

By bh355 |

On a recent visit to Atlanta, I was interested in finding a sushi restaurant. I found one nearby, but was skeptical because it was n a rather run-down looking shopping center, on the other side of a Rite-Aid. So, driving by, looking at the store front, it had that look of a maybe ok sushi restaurant. So, I went in and was pleasantly surprised. It looked like the locals frequented the place (dinner hour), and there were several tables filled, a good sign. Nicely decorated, a sushi counter with lots of fish on display, and a Thai menu just in case you're n that mood as well. I ordered a sushi boat for one, $24.95. It had (IIRC) 16 pcs, just perfect, a combo of sashimi, sushi, and a roll. It was all quite tasty, and came with a nice green salad, as well as green tea (extra). Despite the poor location, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this. Sushi pieces aren't large, but are a good size, and the fish tasted very good. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

By vivia727 |

Like the sushi just fine, although nothing amazing, but every time I go I always seem to get assigned to the male waiter with the long ponytail. He's never smiled once and has been rude to my friends. I avoid this place now because of him, although sometimes am tempted on Monday nights for the $1 sushi special. I have never tried the other food here so cannot vouch for it.
