Acceptable lunch in the Meridien

By Bi-coaster |

Four of us had Sunday lunch here. Three of us ordered the Caesar salad with chicken and one, the kale salad with chicken followed by their ice creams and sorbets. Food was fine, but nothing special. Service a tad slow.

Stellar meal. Worth another look.

By viaggiatore |

We had an excellent dinner at Amuse, with superior, attentive but not intrusive service. I'd been there last year and was not impressed, but went back on the say so of a friend who'd been there recently. It was creative, delicious. Will go again.

Not your typical hotel restaurant

By Chic_Geek_Uno |

Amuse is not stuffy and the food is actually good. The wait staff is also courtesy, attentive and perceptive. It is not a long menu, but the items served are of high quality IMHO.

Stayed and ate at the Le Meridien Philadelphia

By dsriff |

Ate lunch there and food and service were both good. Ambience is lacking but menu at both the bar and the restaurant were interesting and the appetizers were good. Would recommend the restaurant as good if one desires to eat at the hotel while staying there....This is a convenience location rather than a destination restaurant.

Super comfortable and classy hotel

By Gemma S |

We had a wonderful stay! All the staff were friendly and helpful and Kay especially made us feel really welcome and taken care of. Amazing salad and delicious creamy tomato soup :)

Delicious

By pamperedPennsylvania |

Had lunch here during restaurant week and everything was delicious. The French onion soup was very good and the cream brûlée was out of this world. A little different than what I’m used to. It was warm but so good.

Bad anyway you slice It!

By bdbd231 |

The food was mediocre at best and the service was subpar so if you are in this area find another place to eat! The skate that I ordered had a funky taste to it so they replaced it with a cheap peace of flank steak which was no better but at least edible. Deserts had so much sugar that you will go into a diabetic coma. Service is S------L-----------O----------W!

Great bar

By Sierra G |

The bartender Joe was absolutely fantastic!! Very attentive and fun. Great service and atmosphere. The food and drinks were good as well.

Nice atmosphere and decent food

By austennewyork |

Nice steak tartare on the hous to whet the appetite. My family enjoyed beet salad, onion soup (a bit salty but plenty of carmelized onion and cheese and tasty) Entrees were signature steaks and salmon roulade. All tasty, small portions but adequate for us. On a 7:00pm Saturday after Van Gogh very pleasant experience - bar noise did not intrude. Waiter a bit dogmatic but attentive.

Beyond expectations!

By liss143 |

Everything about this quaint French restaurant was superb! Our waiter was a gem - extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and pleasant throughout our dining experience. The entire staff was this way as well. The food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was excellent. Will definitely return and recommend to anyone who is looking for an intimate evening oozing with class.

Christmas dinner

By Hirashiki |

We went there for Christmas dinner. It was a pre-fixed holiday meal. There was no kids menu. My boys had to join us with the pre-fixed meal. The lobster bisque was great. The rest of the meal was about 3 out of 5 stars.

Modern restaurant across of City Hall

By T D |

My husband and I went here for restaurant week because their selection for restaurant week sounded very promising. The restaurant itself was difficult to find - since there no visible signs of it (it's located in the Le Meridien Hotel). Once we found the restaurant, we were seated promptly. The interior design is trendy and had soft colors. I definitely liked it. I'll recommend the Lobster bisque for the appetizer - especially on a cold January day. The lobster pieces were huge chunks and the bisque was rich. I've posted pictures of other foods we've tried on my other blog: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Been-There-Ate-That/156499854368045 Another plus is the view on city Hall.. I'll definitely recommened this restaurant for special occassions.

Restaurant week and beyond

By LARRYOTTER |

Had dinner with spouse and friends as part of Philly Restaurant Week. had a drink at the crowded bar and then moved on to dinner. The Restaurant Week menu had something for everyone. Salads and soup to start. Our party sampled all the offerings, sea bass , steak frites and duck. desserts were very good. all meals very nicely presented and tasty . service was good. WILL GO BACK. The restaurant is small , maybe 50 seats. Spectacular view of Philly City Hall

Over rated a real disappointment.

By JeanneFromCt |

Since I was in Philly to attend the Flower Show, a long time friend, made a dinner reservation at Amuse as she wanted to try their steak frites. I was put off my the very limited menu, but decided on the lobster bouillabaisse. Food was good, not anything special. Frankly, this a big disappointment. Knowing the prices, I would have preferred to have spent my money on much better food. I had a ricotta cheesecake for dessert that had the oddest taste and was definitely not a true Italian style one which I thought I was getting. Service was good but our waitress didn't honor our request to have separate bills. (Not a real problem but annoying) I think the business traveler staying here should be warned to go elsewhere for food. There are far better places to eat in Philly.

A jewel in the heart of Philadelphia

By Nancy Z |

We dined at this restaurant celebrating our anniversary the other night with friends. The food was excellent. I had the lamb shanks, and although I am an excellent cook, these were far better than what I prepare at home. Other than the fact that the restaurant itself is located off the lobby of the hotel and the ambiance in my opinion should be upscaled more, this chef does incredible things with his menu. We attended a wedding here last year and we returned because of the exceptional food we were served at the wedding. We will return.

Quality and Fast

Portions were great and food was priced right. Speedy service and Attentive waiter/Bartender. So Delicious!

Awesome

By buztop |

Every thing about this place was superb. Our party of four was seated and addressed without delay. The server was attentive and knowledgeable. Every menu item we tried was exceptional. Venison - outstanding. The veal was so succulent and yet I ended up taking a sizable portion home. The restaurant was spacious yet comfortable. It was a bit pricey but we were able to justify the splurge thanks to a promotional deal.

Alyson was Awesome

By Jonathan T |

Best service provided A+ premium service everything was pleasant and wonderful I will visit this restaurant again.

Dinner at aMuse

By Betty M |

We were staying at LeMeridian and had dinner at aMuse. Victor, in the bar and lounge was extremely attentive and helped me navigate the menu as a gluten-free diner. The green salad was fantastic with the shrimp. My husband had the same with a crab cake. Nice ambience and friendly staff.

Superb Food and Service

By oteaatea |

I was staying at Le Meridien and decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. I have severe food allergies, and the waiter was careful to consult with the chef before making his recommendation. They ended up cooking me a special fresh salmon meal that was absolutely delicious. They serve meals with a fantastic half loaf of warm baguette with butter, and offer Fiji water (one of my favorites) as a bottled water option. I wasn't as crazy about the creme brulee, which was made with espresso and chocolate. I found the prices to be reasonable for a downtown hotel restaurant in a major city.

LOVE IT!!!

By Lovezubrus |

This place is so cool! I lovvvvve the vibe. It has beautiful views of City Hall. Everyone we interacted with treated us so well. We did not stay here yet but we had a drink at the bar and toured their event spaces as well as their hotel rooms. The rooms are very nice and they are in the process of renovating every room in the place. They are upgrading the TVs as well. The bar offers smoked drinks which was neat to see. We got the pretzels with dipping sauces. So yummy!!! The lobby is pretty busy. The atmosphere is fantastic. It's very City chic. The location is great. It's so close to so many awesome things to do in the city...whether you are in from out of town or locals looking for a night out or a quick staycation. The front of it looks awesome as well. I just can't say enough good things about Le Meridien. I highly recommend checking them out! I am looking forward to our first sleepover here!

A wonderful Evening !! YUM!!!

By marcia o |

Marcia O. Like another reviewer, I purchased a Travelzoo voucher and hoped for the best,,,and got just that. We (4 of us) had one of the best experiences in a very long time. We arrived early and opted to sit in the lounge area next to the bar for a cocktail. All were delicious except for 1 that was a wrong drink. It was very quickly remedied and all were happy. In fairness to the bartender, right after we ordered, about 20 people came in all at once and flooded the bar. So the mistake was understandable. While sipping our drinks, our soon-to-be server, Michael, came to introduce himself. He was a delight the entire evening. We thoroughly enjoyed the Ireland conversation. We were settled at our table in what felt like an open but intimate dining room. In contrast to an earlier reviewer, I think they did an excellent job of melding the old wooden accents with the contemporary design. The food from beginning to end, like the service was excellent. It was perfectly prepared and the presentation, exceptional. At our table we had the Tortelonni and the Sweet Gem salad. Our entrees included tenderloin steaks as well as the rib eye steak from the Bastille Day Menu. All were perfectly grilled as requested. The meal was topped off with the strawberry-rhubarb tart and peanut butter mousse cake. Odd as this may seem, I feel compelled to add a comment on the rest rooms. They were unique, beautiful and as clean as my own at home. I loved the red tiles!! Would we return? Without the voucher it was a bit over our usual budget but for a special occasion, it will be tops on my list. Thanks again to the lovely hostess, the entire staff and especially to Michael for making this a very enjoyable evening!!!

Memorable dinner

By jfcstcrg |

Dinner last Friday at Amuse was a truly memorable evening. Not only was the food superb but the service and setting were wonderful. Our server, Michael, was what all waiters should be: knowledgeable and professional with excellent interpersonal skills. He knew the menu inside and out and made thoughtful suggestions. The tables were set farr enough apart that it was possible to actually carry on a conversation without sharing the contents with everyone within hearing distance. Thanks to Michael and all the staff who made sure that not only was the food sumptuous but that the evening was flawless.

Surprise salad

By sable421 |

Went to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts to see some wonderful art. Happened to see the hotel Le Meridian and low and behold Amuse Restaurant. Had the Cobb Salad. Presentation was amazing, tasted great. It was deconstructed. The staff were so knowledgeable and friendly.

Simply elegant

By dalm0m |

Glorious well-lit elegant space. I hate dark, seedy hotel bars. This hotel bar was delightful. The design of the space made you feel like you were in 1700s Philly only with much better lighting & amenities. Friends from out of town were staying here so this was the most logical place to meet. It was quiet so we could catch up. My husband wished they had tap beer but I was good with the wine list. There was a limited selection of spirits but most of the top shelf options were visible. Joe the bartender was fantastic. He was right there with excellent service. If you didn't want it to, your glass would never run empty, whether alcohol or water. He had funny jokes & a fun brain teaser about football field goals using bar sips & a lime as a prop. When we came back in the next day, he remembered all of our drinks like a good bartender should. We did get a snack too. The pretzel was huge but I would have rather had 2 things of cheese & no mustard. DH ordered the wings & they smelled delicious. From the look on his face & his refusal to share I know they were delicious too. You could sit at the small bar, a few tables or in some conversation pits. We were able to engage with other out of town patrons for a lovely conversation. We may have been the loud ones . . . whoops. Joe had a listening ear for all of his guests. I was even able to connect to the Lobby WiFi to use an app to make a dinner reservation.

A Foodie's Paradise

By JL51 |

I can't say enough about this place. The food was excellent! I had the onion soup and then filet mignon followed by a raspberry/champagne sorbet unlike any I have tried before. The decor is modern and welcoming (including a cozy fireplace). I especially liked that the tables are not on top of each other, thereby allowing for private conversations while dining. The restaurant boasts a great view of City Hall. This is now my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia.

Tre Mediocre

By Terence M |

This place is an embarrassment to the Le Meridian. This restaurant is as close to French as is french toast is to a croissant. Service was competent but nothing remarkable. The lobster bouillabaisse was nothing short of terrible. Two dried out lobster tails, accompanied by four dried out little necks in a very thick, bland tomato "gravy". is an embarrassment. This was not soup - it was pot pie. My wife had a mediocre chicken that bore only a faint resemblance to that described on the menu. Do not worry about spending a lot of time perusing the wine list. It is short, uninteresting without a single bottle you have not tasted before. Prices are high, quality is low. Take a ten minute walk to LeCherie.

Delicious steak frites, but limited choices

By beentheredonethat56 |

The title says it all. The "free" amuse-bouche offered at the beginning of the meal was delicious, as was my main meal. But there weren't many inspired choices on the menu to choose from. Ambiance was lovely with a gorgeous view of Philadelphia from the window and a cozy gas fire.

Treated like royalty!

By LoveParkLady |

During Restaurant Week in Philly, the participating restaurants usually provide a simpler menu with smaller portions. Often those portions are so small that I call them "a tasting menu," because I leave the restaurant feeling hungry and somewhat cheated. This was NOT the case at Amuse, where four of us had dinner during this month's Restaurant Week. My husband and I had attended a wedding in the Le Meridien Hotel a few years ago that was catered by the hotel restaurant, Amuse. It was the very best wedding meal we had ever had, from start to finish, and yet it took us 3 years to make a reservation at Amuse. We are so glad we finally did. The restaurant is located off the main lobby of the hotel, with magnificent "bubble-like" chandeliers, super-high ceilings, and elegantly appointed tables. Before you even sit down, you sense that this meal isn't going to be average. Service was flawless, with plates and utensils being removed and replaced without us having to ask. Wait time between courses was almost non-existent. My appetizer was a huge crock of french onion soup with a thick lid of gooey gruyere cheese on top. It was so large that I couldn't even finish it. Two others each had a large spinach salad with goat cheese, candied pecans, saffron and port poached pears and a pear vinaigrette that they both loved. My husband had a braised duck leg confit with balsamic cherries and whipped brie. Three of us ordered the steak au poivre for our entree, which came with roasted potatoes and green beans and a creamy pepper sauce. The steak was sliced and easy to cut and was melt-in-your-mouth good. One of us had the quail with mushrooms, onions, and pancetta and said it was excellent. Desserts were gingersnap biscotti with a baked clementine and chocolate citrus peel for two of us and a beautiful plate of frozen scarlet cheesecake roll (it was much like a delicious strawberry gelato) with chocolate nibs, roasted plums, and a sesame cookie for the other two. Not only was all this delicious, it was also beautifully presented. The only negative is that the hotel bar is located right outside the restaurant. A large group of 20-somethings went to the bar at one point during our meal and were extremely loud. We were hoping that management would close the doors between the bar and restaurant, but they didn't, so we suffered in silence, unable to have a conversation among us, for about a half hour or so, until the drinkers left. Other than that, the room is large enough, with such high ceilings, that we couldn't hear the conversations of any other diners, even ones sitting right near us, making it feel like we had the place to ourselves. All in all, this restaurant is more than a cut above the usual Restaurant Week restaurant. Everything from atmosphere to service to food was sheer perfection. Their regular menu pricing is a bit higher than most venues in the area (perhaps about $120 per couple before tip), but their Restaurant Week menu, at $35 per person, was the best value in the city and a beautiful surprise.

Halibut is Fab

By ReeinRoanoke |

Great service, lovely ambience, and fantastic halibut. What more could I ask for? Friends had steaks and said they were outstanding. Loved the bread too.

Fabulous

By Paulette Y |

The next time we are in Philly, this place is a must! The food was over the top delicious. It is pricey, but you have never had a lobster bouillabaisse as good as this one. My mouth is still doing the happy dance. The Creme Brule' was the clincher on this meal. The service was excellent as well. A well rounded staff that serves only culinary delights!

Great service!!!

By Stephen B |

Had breakfast at aMuse and it was great! The potato’s were some of the best Ive had anywhere for breakfast. But the highlight of our meal was the service. Our server Alison was wonderful she made sure we had everything we needed and had a bubbly personality.

poor service and food

By globbiztravel |

food was not tasty and prepared how I requested, so I could not enjoy the over priced food. The staff were not attentive to my needs as a guest and provided poor service to me through in room dining and during a coffee break in the lobby area.

Great food and service at the right price

By N0ggie |

really nothing more to add! Just great in all aspects.

Exceeded our expectations...

By LLFL |

The restaurant Amuse Brasserie exceeded our expectations. Our group was surprised by the fresh seasonal menu selections and the Chef offered to adjust the menu for a member of our team who has a gluten allergy. The service was excellent.

Nice

By John379 |

The food was very good and the service was excellent. It was an enjoyable dinner. The steak and tuna tartare were both excellent. The filet was a little over cooked but still good. Only downside it was a little noisy, but otherwise an excellent meal.

Delicious

By ACYcouple |

We had dinner with another couple and had a great time. The food was excellent and service was very attentive and timely. We had a reservation but met our friends at the bar. They were very accommodating and held our table for us until we were ready. We started off with the crab and lobster, the ravioli, and the foie grois appetizers. They were all delicious and the shellfish was in large chunks and fresh. When the waiter realized I needed to be gluten free, he even had the chef prepare a separate amuse Bouche for me. For our main courses, we had lobster bouillabaisse which was light and delicately seasoned and very satisfying, tenderloins that were tender done just right (this came with fried broccoli and cauliflower that was outstanding), and the lamb which was rich and flavorful. We shared multiple desserts, from the berries Napoleon, orange creme brûlée, and a chocolate almond torte. All of them were delicious. We had a great time and would definitely go back.

Definitely amusing

By Seth G |

The night we ate there (a Tuesday evening) the place was packed with young singles and young couples. The menu we found limited and some of the items such as Halibut we unavailable. My wife had the striped bass and the chef, at the request of our excellent waiter Michael whipped up a pasta and vegetable dish for me. They were both OK, not great but decent. However, the bread was outstanding as was the dessert, a cranberry cobbler with a fabulous 6 spice ice cream.

A Brilliant Flower Show Dining Choice

By Barbara E |

We were meeting friends in town for the flower show and the Van Gogh exhibition. They left the choice of restaurant up to us and, due mainly to the difficulty of getting a dinner reservation at one of the more established places in the area, we had the good luck to choose Amuse. The first amazing thing about Amuse is that it is in the old Philadelphia Men's Y building. It is now a beautiful hotel and Amuse takes up most of the ground floor. Twenty foot high ceilings and windows overlooking Love Park. Rich wood wainscotting. We had cocktails in the elegant lobby before moving into the spacious dining room. Perhaps because it is new, it wasn't terribly crowded. The pace of dinner was slow, and that was fine because we wanted to talk and make an evening of our visit with friends. The food was really good. Two of us ordered the Steak with Fritts. Both liked it. I had the special fish of the day and it was delicious. The final order was Coq a vin - classic bistro presentation. We also ordered the cheese and meat appetizer plate. I thought the plate was rather spartan, but our friend commented that the portion was perfect. The complimentary steak tartare appetizer was also really tasty. I didn't think I would ever say that about eating raw meat. The wine we ordered - Silver Palme - was so good that my husband asked our local wine merchant to order some for us. From start to finish, a memorable and elegant dining experience.

Very good food! with excellent service

By Eileen Z S |

Our first visit to aMuse and not our last! Ambiance was chic and inviting ----fun/warm atmosphere. Menu is very good; food terrific and great service.

Expensive and not many options

By m0m6 |

This is the only restaurant in the hotel and it is in the middle of its historic lobby. It is a beautiful space. It is a fine option for a simple meal but not many items to choose from.

Amazing food and experience

By Amanda L |

I first went there with family because we had a coupon, a great deal that got us 4 drinks, 2 apps and 4 entrees. The drinks were amazing and so were the apps. For dinner the lobster bouillabaisse was extremely tasty so much that we were drinking the broth. I unfortunately got the ribeye, which was pretty much inedible. I told the waiter about it and got the steak frites instead, which turned out to be juicy and delightful. The manager came up to us and apologized for the horrible ribeye and gave us the meal on the house as well as 4 free desserts. They told us to come back, gave us their email address and told us to use our groupon at a later time. I did come back with friends and used the groupon. I emailed them like they said to let them know we were coming. They took care of us extremely well. Food and service was impeccable. I highly recommend the lobster bisque, lobster bouillabaisse and steak frites. For dessert, they make everything in house, but our favorite had to be the homemade gelato. I highly recommend this place, they definitely take care of their customers and deliver amazing food and service! We will definitely be back!

Great Food and Service

By ShihYu |

The hotel is currently under construction, but we still managed to have a great time. The food was excellent.

Restaurant Week

By silianosiliano2009 |

I know restaurant week is not the best time to celebrate a classy birthday in any restaurant. Friday night. Busy day. We gave a shot to Le Meridien. WOW. Good food, good service. Nice bar with wordelfull drinks and they had a sommelier, Andre (French, maybe?) to help us select a wonderfull and not too price wine from Uruguay. Usually we have just one glass at dinner, but who can say no to Andre's accent? He was efficient and quick. We had 2 bottles. Ohh..well!!! We will be back.

Needs Improving, Usually good

By litphyl03 |

This French Bistro has the best bread brought to your table hot in a paper bag. Last time we were there for dinner 10/28/13, the bread was just OK. The food, usually good was not hot. Onion soup and steak frittes were warm, my salad and main dish were not memorable. The creme brulee was delicious. The room is lovely, with city views or near a giant fireplace. Modern, sleek, yet cozy. We came here a lot but doubt if we will return for a while. One of their best waiters left and the place really has suffered. Everyone is very nice and I feel bad not giving it a better review.

so nice i had to do it twice

By phillyborn114 |

on a recommendation from someone, a coworker and i went to amuse for lunch..the atmosphere is so nice and peacefuland quite conducive for a good meal...the decor and cuisine are french inspired, even down to the working fireplace..teresa our congenial server made a very tasty lunch more enjoyable, even to having the chef split the onion soup in two bowls for us...lobster roll w/pomme frites was my companions choice, and i settled for the cobb salad minus the panchetta which i don't eat...my lettude hearts were crispy and fresh, and the chicken pieces had a nice smoky grilled taste...the lobster roll looked plump and fresh and before long was no longer visible on my coworker's plate...he said he could taste the freshness and really enjoyed it...i tasted a few of his fries and they were thinly sliced and darkly cooked but very flavorful...our window seat created such a coziness for us we didn't want to go back to work...but alas....

Great Restaurant Week 3 Course Menu!

By Judi W |

I went with some colleagues to this restaurant during restaurant week when they had a 3 course menu for a special price of $35. It was very good value and all course were delicious! I had the fondue, then the steak and then the creme brulee - all excellent!

Reasonable breakfast

By DJR188590 |

Breakfast is a little pricy, but compared to the quality in the surrounding restaurants and coffee bars a lot better!!

This is in Le Meriiden hotel but not worthy of them

By Pepper |

Nice waiter- an unfriendly woman who I think was at the bar or food bar- hard to tell what she did. I ordered the Po Boy- oysters on a sandwich- and no kidding, I had to chew carefully and still I wasn't sure I had found an oyster. So I think I had a fried breading sandwich- which is not so appetizing . It was big, I will say that for it- but I really felt duped.

Very good hotel restaurant!

By bkp21 |

Stayed at the Le Meridien during a recent business trip and was impressed with the food and the service at Amuse. Had dinner one evening and breakfast the next day. Good food at decent prices.

Very pleased with quality of the food and service

By Elizabeth G |

We purchased a voucher on Travelzoo and expected an average dining experience. We were interested in seeing the architectural design since with both remembered this building as a athletic club. The hotel kept the old paneling but we were off put by the modern interior design. In our minds, integration was not achieved. The food however was much more than expected! Our appetizers were good, especially the tortellini; however the entrees, the veal and bouillabaisse, were top notch. Dessert, crumble with homemade ice cream, made for a nice conclusion to the meal. Our waiter, Michael, was both knowledgeable and engaging. A very pleasant evening at a restaurant we will recommend.

Right in The Hotel, Great Service

By Ed M |

This is a nice little hotel located just off the lobby inside the Le Meridien hotel. I was not able to enjoy dinner here, but had breakfast which was very good. Just an english muffin sandwich and coffee, but everything was very good. They also served two great buffet lunches for the conference I attended. The service of the staff was excellent.

Spendy Breakfast Dining but good portions, tasty

By Turbo_Todd |

I ate here for breakfast twice, and both times I had really good food. It was pricey, no question. However you got large portion sizes, everything seemed fresh, and the service was attentive.

Very good, bit pricey

By lisam332 |

Good food, expensive good service. Nice atmosphere

Located just down the street...

By dMoniqueRenee |

This restaurant is located in the Le Meridien Hotel- Philadelphia It has only 20 tables or so and is just a quaint spot for a nice romantic evening. We decided to indulge in the SEARED DAY BOAT SCALLOPS, and the POT AU FEU which were both out of the world. Stop in here for dinner or happy hour you will definitely have a wonderful experience.

Friendly service, amazing food

By Ethan L |

We've been staying at Le Meridien for a few days and have done breakfasts and dinners at aMuse. All the meals have been stellar, especially the soups and salads for dinner (highly recommend the caesar salad with salmon). Kay was our server for some of our breakfasts and dinners and was incredibly helpful. She is a great asset for the restaurant and is such a friendly presence, especially early in the morning at breakfast!

Great find.

By BigCityBeing |

Very nice meal. Convenient location. Good service. Nice cocktails. Recommended. We'll be back next time we're in town.

Just Drinks

By Susan P |

Four of us stopped here for drinks, before moving on to another location for dinner. Our bar waitress was prompt and friendly. Specialty drinks were delicious and priced as you would expect in a large city. A little appetizer of mixed nuts was just right to hold us over until dinner. I, personally, did not care for the modern decor mixed with the classic elegance of the architecture, but that has nothing to do with our experience! A very classy spot. I would like to go for a meal sometime.

A nice Sunday Lunch

By JKNJ |

We wanted to take our out-of-town daughter to lunch while she was in Philadelphia at a convention. Not much in the financial district but this restaurant was great. Very friendly, moderate prices for a hotel restaurant in the city and great food. The fries are to die for!

Small and Sleek

By elsasol |

This is a small restaurant, but attention to cuisine and presentations is outstanding, as is service. Fine wine list with 6 or 9-ounce or larger pourings. Menu accommodates small appetites or large with excellent French food -- cheese and charcutrie plate are terrific and vegetarian options are lovely and delicious. Bread is outstanding. Breakfast is, too. The chef was flexible and accommodated special needs at both meals. The maitre d' is a pro. Bravo!

good hotel dining

By lindas286 |

I liked this restaurant better than the hotel. Our waitress was very nice. dinner was very good I had salmon and it was perfect. dessert was great it was a chocolate cake that was very decadent. very good

Nice restaurant hidden in a hotel

By TokePetersen |

I have stayed at the hotel once, and this is how I found this place about a year ago. Today I was I Philadelphia again and had to get the Lobster bouillabaisse, and it was great. Surprising few people, so the waiters are very attentive. A bit pricy, but so are many similar restaurants. I will be back

We did breakfast

By sparklesque |

Illy coffee, good service, nice selection of breakfast food. I had french toast for $14, and the American breakfast that included juice and coffee was $17. No buffet, just menu items.

Pretty Good Food, Awesome Service, but a little Overpriced

By Jose R |

The food was very well prepared overall (the venison appetizer was delicious). However, I ordered a steak frites cooked medium and it instead came out almost well done. Although the steak had a good texture, it was, unfortunately, masked by the charred flavor instead. Our server, Michael, was amazing and made sure that everything was taken care of throughout the evening. Overall, we did not have a bad experience here, but I feel like my wife and I would rather try a new restaurant next time we are in Philadelphia.

Nice food, great service

By KelPe |

I had several meals at aMuse over the course of my stay. The food was consistently good, and Shinoa F was particularly helpful.

Anniversary Getaway

By MomOfTheLaurens |

My husband and I celebrated our 7th anniversary at Le Meridien Philadelphia. We had dinner and breakfast at their restaurant "A Muse" located in the lobby. Not only is the hotel aesthetically pleasing, the service was absolutely perfect. Every team member was professional but we interacted specifically with Imelda, Jeff and Kay at the restaurant. I highly recommend this hotel and will certainly be returning.

Great Lunch

By John B |

The house salad, burger, and cheesecake were all excellent. I came in alone and sat at the bar. The service was attentive without hovering over me.

Amazing and unexpected

By travelqueen15 |

We stayed at le meridian before leaving for vacation to start the vacation early. I bought a travelzoo voucher for dinner at amuse on a whim. Boy am I glad I did. We had the most amazing dinner. Our Asian server ( I forget his name) was wonderful and full of suggestions that got us more for our money with the voucher. I don't even like scallops but he convinced us on the scallop appetizer and it was to die for. I now love scallops if they taste like that. He convinced me of the steak frites over the ny strip and it was cooked to perfection the sauces had me licking the dish clean and the sides were great too. It really was great all around. Went way over the voucher with drinks but oh well it was worth it. Delicious!

Delightful, Delicious, Devine!

By allen_10030 |

Love the decor, modern, yet warm. The mix of old wood with new designs is great fun. Michael was a wonderful server as were the rest of the staff. They gave us very useful advice about ordering. Food!! 1. Halibut flown in that day from Alaska, the best Mary had ever tasted. 2. Everything else was superb, the creme brulee was even better, perhaps the best ever tasted again. Great value, we have paid much more for much less.

Decent menu, a few faults

We have recently stopped at Amuse for a breakfast. We don't know whether there is a separate area for dinner, for the one we had our breakfast at is, at its best, a half-walled-off part of the hotel's lobby. Amuse offers a relaxed seating, the big windows provide a nice view to Philadelphia City Hall and the surrounding area, but unassuming tables and decor are way too informal, rather resembling a college cafeteria. The service is good, but average good, nothing that can be termed as 'above and beyond.' The menu looks better than comparable restaurants of the similar level and class; there is a nice addition of the Pommes de terre à la lyonnaise. Having said that, the look and the contents of the menu don't translate into a great quality food. Don't get us wrong, it is kind of good food, but... our steak that was specified as 'medium' was rare 101. It did not actually look like a steak at all but more like an elongated Braunschweiger sausage (please refer to our picture). We were never privileged to get a steak knife, so we had to work through the rare chewy steak with a regular knife, quite a challenge. Let alone Amuse doesn't offer a breakfast buffet as an option, which is a big turnoff for its potential customers. Amuse should definitely work more and more on its food, service and everything else to survive in a tough Philadelphia dining scene. Unfortunately, the so-called French restaurants in Philadelphia, and especially those located in hotels, are no exclusion; they are mostly mediocre and their French allegiance lies with brasserie-style looking menus and French wall decor, but not the famous food quality.

A Very Nice Meal

By Holly K |

We had a very nice meal here. Connor, our waiter, was attentive and charming. We started with the artisanal cheese plate, an interesting selection of local cheeses served with a fabulous fig jam. Handsome Companion had the salmon with fennel. The dish was well thought out but not well-executed. The salmon was simply overcooked. My roast chicken was very well executed, perfectly-roasted, and served over a bed of mashed potatoes. On a cold, wintry night, it was a perfect dish. The noise and music from the bar, just steps from the restaurant, drift in, so if you are looking for a quiet dining experience, this might not be the place for you. We enjoyed the music and bar scene from a distance. And given that it was the weekend of the Army-Navy game, things might have been a bit more hectic than usual.

Very Enjoyable!

By Rodvalente |

We dined there with friends on a Thursday night. We had purchased a half price voucher from Travelzoo. We were early so we had a cocktail in the lounge by the fireplace. The decor is warm and comfortable. We were seated for dinner with a great view of City Hall. The food was fantastic! We all has the Crab Frisée salad and it was great. My wife and friend had the Lobster Bouillabaisse. He said it was the best he ever had. His wife had the chicken and also, said it was one of the best she ever had. I had the filet which was awesome. The meal was one of the best we all had experienced. The service from our waiter Michael was extraordinary! He was attentive and knowledgeable. Everyone was helpful and courteous. All four of us said this was one of the best dinning experiences we have enjoyed in our life. I can always find something to complain about but, not here! First time I can say that.

Quite Amused

By Jeff M |

I ate breakfast here twice and was very pleased both times. Their American breakfast, oatmeal, steak and eggs and bacon were phenomenal. Service was top notch. I wish I would have eaten other meals here.

A wonderful, relaxing place for dinner, lunch or breakfast

By Stacy G |

The local cheese plate is phenomenal, as are the craft cocktails. I had salmon, my companion had taglietelle- both were excellent. The beautiful atmosphere makes this a standout among hotel restaurants.

Memorable cuisine

By Phillymark2011 |

My wife and I had a memorable dining experience at Amuse last night. Our waiter, Michael, was knowledgeable, and friendly as he guided us through the menu options. Grace(my Wife) opted for the Roasted Beets appetizer and I went for the French Onion Soup. Her beets were served with a vinagrette sauce and she raved about them. My soup was delicious with a well seasoned beef brooth, thick with onions and covered with a generous coating of melted cheese. For main courses Grace had the Lobster Boullabaisse, filled with lobster, mussles, and fish in an amazing red sauce. I chose the Pepper Crusted Ribeye and was presented a magnificant steak coated in rough ground pepper that was cooked to perfection , tender and juicy. We shared a Blueberry Apple Crisp that was covered with a House Made Salted Caramel Ice Cream. There are no words to adequately describe this treat. Overall we we very pleased with our dining experience and in a city of many fine dining choices, this will remain near the very top of our list.

Hotel dining - convenient

By v v |

Pricey for quality. Menu contrived and food just average. Fancy names for mediocre execution. Quiet - so that’s okay. That’s because nobody there 6:30-8PM

A fair experience

By Dave C |

We went on a groupon and had a good meal. The waiter was slow and overworked, which was amazing since there were only four tables occupied the whole night. The atmosphere is hard and I would imagine it to be quite noisy if fully occupied.

Great Restaurant with healthy menu choices!

By larkenRidgefield_CT |

This was the main restaurant in Le Meridien Hotel in Philly. The waiters and waitresses were all very personable. I loved that this hotel had so many healthy food choices...organics, fresh veggies, grains like couscous etc. We ate breakfast and a dinner here and felt pampered! The decor of the restaurant is cheerful and bright and the staff is very attentive. It was "fine dining" in a hotel and everything was cooked to perfection!

Okay Lunch in a Lovely Setting

By NYCBookMark |

Because we were a group, we had a limited menu from which to make a selection. I opted for a pistou-like soup which was okay and salad which was okay but nothing special. I would have thought this would have been more of a show-stopper. The lobby and building features are worth checking out and the bar looked like it would be fun in the evening. You can't beat the location.

Amuse yoursel at Le Meridien Philadelphia

By Ronda P |

Amuse had great food, service, wonderful presentation, warm fireplace, nice view of city hall and the municipal services building.

LOVED THE DECOR...THE FOOD - NOT AS MUCH

By DIANE PATTERSON |

My hubby had the lobster bisque. It was VERY, VERY rich. We each had the hangar steak with fries. The steak was superb. The fries were greasy. They brought us a side of baby brussel sprouts that we did not order & they charged us for them. We both ordered dessert. They brought my husband his, but, completely forgot about mine.

beautiful dining inside "le meridian" hotel

By fdcNJ |

this is not an inexpensive hotel restaurant, but rather a fine dining experience that is an excellent choice even for those not staying in the hotel. the decor is beautiful with giant " bubble" chandeliers. the fresh pea ravioli was so tasty! i had the lamb 2 ways, loin & shank, with polenta- fabulous! best part of meal- fresh hot bread that arrives at the table in a white paper bag! ask for seconds!! the bar area has a less expensive menu including burgers, just as delicious- great drinks too!

An unexpectly pleasant dinner on cold cold night !

By CapFerat |

We were lured to a visit Amuse with a Groupon deal. 2 drinks, 1 app and 2 entrees. Turned out to a full drink list but was carefully explained that it included all the drinks but only a small 6 oz pour of wine... however all other drinks on the menu were included. A well made Knob Creek Manhattan for me and a Riesling my wife like was a good start. Nice portions, warm bread made for a wonderful dinner on a cold night in Philly. I do love the French twist in dinners... the Foie gras excellent as was the lobster bouillabaisse and Black Cod. Worth a try yes ! Worth a return visit or two without a Groupon YES! See you there

The longest three course meal in Philadelphia

By Bo H |

We were lured to Amuse by a Travelzoo coupon but brought two more guests and intended to be generous in our orders and tipping. We were seated promptly but that was the last good service we had during a painfully long night. We asked for a glass of wine while waiting for our two guests - that request was ignored. Michael, our waiter eventually showed up and took a drink order which was delivered 25 minutes later. He then disappeared for another half hour before taking the food order. We spotted him laughing and chatting with a couple on the other side of the dining room, other times he was totally gone. The food was pretty good, some dishes better than others but I could never get Michael's attention, even when I grabbed him by the arm as he rushed past our table. Almost three hours later I demanded the check which eventually arrived. Today I spoke with his manager who assured me that Michael was their best waiter. That says it all.

Sitting in the lobby

By DrBrother |

The last time I saw a mouse in a hotel was at the Pulitzer in Amsterdam about ten years ago. Tonight I was sitting at the lobby bar and a mouse runs throughout the lobby! I was thinking that I would not be hard on this hotel. But this incident pushed me over the edge. The bartender didn't even seem shaken up. Oh well. There goes the review.

Slow service, mediocre food

By stellarose2018 |

I came here for 2018 Restaurant Week, which boasted a $35 three course meal (drinks not included). Other Le Meridien restaurants I have previously been to were quite delicious, so I hoped this would be the same. My friends and I ordered cocktails - at a reasonable $13 each, which is fairly standard. The cocktails were refreshing, and arguably the best part of the meal. My friends ordered the “cheese & charcuterie” platter, a very underwhelming board that seemed sparse with only 2 small samples of cheeses and 2 slices each of small salami and ham. My French onion soup was not bad, if not a bit salty. We all chose the steak frites as the main course. While the fries were piping hot, the steak was cold, and it must have been sitting at the window while the fries were finishing. One friend requested rare, but received medium rare. She declined to send it back as we had been waiting a while already. The steak was tender, but the flavor was overshadowed by the red wine/onion sauce on top, which tasted more like barbecue sauce. The creme brûlée I had was decent, nothing to call home about. The Black Forest cake my friends had included stale pieces of meringue on the plate - an unnecessary addition as the cake was rich enough, especially as it was topped with white chocolate garnishes. The service was slow and our server was inaccurate. She confused the number of dishes ordered: she brought 2 onion soups instead of 2 charcuterie boards, and brought 2 creme brûlées instead of 2 Black Forest cakes. Despite being a small, and fairly empty restaurant, it took the servers a while to come around to refill our waters, even when we asked. One server also took away our bread basket without asking, despite having brought the bread shortly before. All in all, I can’t imagine paying full price for that meal. I would not go back unless it were for a drink, as service is too slow and the food is barely average.

Expensive breakfast with awful service

By Sam S |

Don’t waste your time and money. The food is massively overpriced and the service was slow and poor. I sat down and ordered an omelette, maybe 3 people in the restaurant. It took over 45 minutes to turn up and it was completely the wrong order. The staff could not be less interested, after 30 mins of waiting for my food I was asked if I wanted to order anything - the same person that originally took my order. No cutlery, napkin or salt on the table even after the food turned up. Paying these huge prices for basic diner breakfast food I’d expect good service. A basic omelette with no extras after tax was over $25 and it was average at best. When the bill turned up 18% service charge automatically added, plus space to leave a gratuity. I will not be back.

Pleasant Experience

By Greg B |

We had a drink at the Amuse bar on a quiet Sunday evening and really enjoyed sitting by the fireplace and talking. The space is lovely. If you like a tart, lemony drink, my wife recommends the Georgia O'Keeffe cocktail. In the morning we had L'Express Americain Breakfast, which was part of our package. The eggs, bacon, and potatoes were well prepared; the Illy coffee was exceptional. We probably wouldn't make a special trip to visit Amuse, but if you're staying at Le Meridien and getting the Breakfast and Parking rate, you won't be disappointed.

French-Themed Food

By Sing4Elohim |

When entering the hotel, we were presumed to be guests rather than diners but the host eventually led us into a pleasantly small yet sparely decorated room. It was clear that the ingredients were of a fine quality, but the "french" style that I expected was lacking. My partner should know, he was trained by a french cook at a young age. For my part, I very much enjoyed the lamb and the steak was only marginally overdone. I was not impressed with the french onion soup which lacked flavor. The restaurant clearly encourages visitors to sample its wide variety of wines and I might have been more impressed if I had partaken. My overall impression was that the restaurant would have done better to offer smaller and more inexpensive entrees or held itself more as a bar than a fancy sit-down dinner experience. A good idea not entirely realized...

After 4.5 years it got much better. Low prices and great service.

By RGSOUNDF |

Last time we visited aMuse was in September 2014. Quite a few things changed, the most noticeable is the architectural and design overhaul. Unfortunately, aMuse lost if panoramic windows and the ability to enjoy the view of JFK PLaza, but the result, the new dining area, which consists of the open space adjacent to the hotel's lobby and the more private area in the back, is probably better. We had or meals at aMuse twice during our most recent stay in January 2019, for some "bar meals" at 3 PM, and the breakfast next morning. We would like to mention the great serving staff - friendly, efficient, timely. Also, the prices are really very forgiving, if not low, for any hotel restaurant. For example, the "L’EXPRESS AMERICAIN" breakfast (Two Eggs / Herb Roasted Potatoes / Choice of Toast/Choice of Applewood Smoked Bacon /Chicken or Pork Sausage/ Canadian Bacon/Choice of Juice and Illy Coffee or Mighty Leaf Assorted Teas) is priced at $18 (not $20 as advertised on the restaurant's website). You can't beat that. The breakfast food was very good, from the Illy coffee, to eggs, to chicken sausage. We also ordered one extra dish, the French pancakes, "Crêpes classiques filled with ricotta cheese and compote" and the portion was more than generous and the dish delicious. Our bar meal was somewhat disappointing, at least in one aspect. The Cheese & Charcuterie Board (Selection Of Cheeses And Charcuterie /Honeycomb / Mostarda/ Whole Grain /Walnut Raisin Crisp) only featured 2 kinds of cold cuts and 2 kinds of cheese. This is not how it is supposed to be, especially for a bigger size portion we ordered ($30). Our aMuse Burger (Butter Lettuce / Tomato / Red Onion Jam / Pommes Frites, with an addition of avocado) was quite good, on the other hand. All-in-all, very decent place. If you are staying in Le Meridien or not, we would definitely recommend a breakfast there.

Amuse is Seriously Good

By croc08 |

A bunch of us have a phobia about a restaurant in a hotel, myself included but fear not people, Amuse will change your mind. Tucked away in the Le Meridien Hotel is a fabulous french restaurant with mega tall ceilings, ultra modern decor, a stunning view of City Hall and the cuisine is tres bon. The meal starts off with bread...if you don't get good bread chances are you will not get a good meal...at Amuse we must have went through three bags of bread for a party of four so we knew we were in for a treat. From the creamy butter and bread we slipped into the menu by ordering Scallops with pork belly, venison with angolotti, foie gras, and a board with the finest array of home cured meats and cheese, this side of the pond and all that was just the beginning. Michael, our waiter, sommielier, host, all rolled into one, guides you through the courses with ease and brought us an earthy beet salad with arugula to follow our apps. Next came the entrees where we opted for rack of lamb, steak frites, and lobster bouillabaisse. Spot on. And we finished with creme brulee - how could you not? So set aside your hotel dining phobia and bring some friends to Amuse for some fab french food that won't break the bank and have you salivating to open your take-home package (should you be lucky enough not to clean your plate) the moment you walk in the door from your evening out.

Valentine's Day

By Tlynnjones75 |

My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day dinner. The hotel and restaurant are beautiful. My husband had the French onion soup for a starter and it was delicious. I had roasted salmon which was cooked to perfection.

Wonderful food & ambience

By Nthan |

I have been to this restaurant on many occasions including New Year's Eve. Beautiful contemporary and warm decor. Very upscale but reasonably priced. Limited menu but the food is always excellent.

Awesome Service

By gcee |

Love the ambience, and the food and cocktails were yummy. Ended everyday here for a night cap while watching various sporting events on their tv's. Great conversation and local recommendations from Victor at the bar.

Great business breakfast

By kkg003 |

I had a business breakfast here. The service was great. The food choices were good, too. Everything from eggs to french toast to omelettes. We were going to make it easy on the server and have him split the check evenly 6 ways. Instead, he wanted to split by person, so I thought that was nice of him to do so.

Nice breakfast spot

By NittanyLion70 |

We were comped by the hotel.. Issac, the waiter was very attentive. Coffee was fresh. Omelets were very good on Sat. Sunday buffet was more than ample.

Bountiful Breakfast

By GalavantingGrammy |

We had a delightful and bountiful breakfast at Amuse. The small size of the restaurant gave it an intimate and inviting feeling. My veggie omelet was done perfectly, and the cartelized onion topped :ions potatoes were outstanding. Coffee was great and service was "with a smile" and excellent! An outstanding way to start the day!

Excellent find!!

By w0rldtraveling |

We went to a great exhibit at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts ("PAFA") and around the corner was the Hotel Meridien, which we thought we could explore, for lunch. What a wonderful surprise when we got into their restaurant, Amuse. Excellent decor, attention to detail, beautiful presentation, great chef, great service. We will definitely go back and highly recommend it.

Decent

By b2b0813 |

The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. We enjoyed our breakfasts and a dinner there while staying in the hotel. A bit overpriced for what it was.

Perfect Brunch

By Waylandtraveller |

We had a large group in for brunch on a Sunday and this place was lovely. The room is spectacular and a fun mix of new and old. The various versions of poached eggs with salmon and eggs benedict were great. The service was efficient and attentive. Call the hotel if you need to speak to a live person about any special reservation requests - everyone was so helpful!

Breakfast experience during my stay

By suraj |

I have stayed here many times before but this time when I went for breakfast I was surprised by being welcomed with a warm smile from Kay . She was just amazing , very friendly , kind and she informed about how my coupon covered for breakfast and made me feel welcome to have the the breakfast like I would feel at home . This made my morning start with a pleasant experience at the restaurant prior to heading to work . If we have people like this we meet through our walk of life we will never have to be stressed .

Beautiful space, average food, good service

By inmyflipflops |

I was here for lunch with colleagues. The space is very beautiful and the ambiance is relaxed and calm. The service was friendly enough and quick. But the food was underwhelming. There wasn't anything special to the menu. I had a burger and I could have had it elsewhere just as good but cheaper.

Wonderful food, underwhelming service, but the food is well worth it.

By Irina |

I chose this restaurant for my birthday with the family. When we arrived, we were a little taken aback because the seating is pretty much in the lobby of the hotel Meridien, with no designation or sign leading to the restaurant. There was, however, a cozy fireplace which looked and felt welcoming. The server was condescending and flip, but the meal was still worthwhile because of the food. The food is the real star at this restaurant. It is organic, fresh, more than plentiful and beautiful to behold. Everything from the dreamy, creamy lobster bisque sporting the biggest lobster tail I had ever seen, the magnificent burratta with heirloom tomatos, bacon encased juicy dates , my delicate duck a l'orange with the most photogenic carrots I have ever beheld, the crispy free range chicken whose aroma filled the room, the hefty platter of not one but two buttery steaks with frittes per plate- was a feast for the eyes and the palate. The portions are so plentiful that we ate our filled and took substantial doggie bags home. I would even recommend sharing an entree. EVERYTHING ON THE MENU WAS GREAT (except for the homemade eclair in the dessert section). Will venture in again for sure.

Good Bar Menu

By Kathy W |

Had the Pomme frites and Cheese plate before heading out for NYE. Great food and service. Food had a French flair. Yum.

Everything was delicious

By eyemabajan |

We used a Groupon to check out this restaurant and enjoyed every part of the meal. We had lobster salad and spinach salad to start, scallops and steak frites entrees and mixed berry Napoleon and vanilla ice cream for dessert. All the ingredients were fresh and everything was delicious and prepared well. Although our waiter rushed as he went from back and forth, when he tended to our table service was good. A nice view of Philadelphia city hall, and a moderately quiet, romantic dining area added to the experience.

Excellent French cuisine

By ZSJPharmD |

Superb French cuisine; fresh ingredients prepared expertly and delivered timely. Reasonable portions. Servers are knowledgeable and very friendly. Highly recommend for a lovely, upscale French dining experience.

Excellent food

By Shakirak2013 |

We had heard good things about this French Bistro and we were not disappointed. It is located in a nice area in Downtown Philadelphia inside the hotel Le Meridien, It seats about 40 people. The decor is simple and elegant: white square tables with simple chairs. The chandeliers are very contemporary and I loved looking at them. We had a dinner reservation which we got easily. We were seated promptly. The staff is small but they are quite efficient and clean. The food is the main reason I would go there again. They served us complimentary Bouche in soup spoons made of fish and it was delicious. I had a small salad of baby greens and the Beef Tenderloin with Yukon gold Crepes, and both were excellent. The Beef was cooked exactly as I liked. We also ordered the Lobster Bouldabaisse and the Barnegat Scallops and they also were done to perfection. The place was about half full and it appeared that the guests were enjoying themselves. The street scene outside was festive since it is the holiday season. Not really a restaurant to bring children, but we did and it was OK The servers could be more chatty and smile once in a while.

Perfect!

By Shelbyrd |

My husband and I wanted somewhere romantic to celebrate our anniversary and, as we were staying at Le Meridien, we chose Amuse. Everything about our dining experience was fantastic. Michael, our waiter, was friendly, knowledgeable and really helped us get the most out of our meal. The food was delicious, especially the cobbler we had for dessert. Two thumbs up!

An Interesting Evening

By InTheMomentManhattan |

I was torn how to rate this restaurant. The décor is very chic and contemporary. The servers are very nice if overworked. The food is good but not great. All in all, this was a pleasant experience. But somehow not special. If you have time, because the service is slow, it could be enjoyable. The problem is that the level of quality does not equal the level of expense. This pulls down my rating.

Bar is relaxing

By David H |

While staying at the Le Meridien I decided to have a drink at the Amuse Bar. The bar tender, Ashley, was quick to service and very knowledgeable on the drinks and snacks offered at the bar. She really made my stay a pleasure. The only downside to this bar is the location. It is located directly inside the hotel. During the winter time it is uncomfortable sitting at the bar when the doors open. Overall I would have another drink there the next time I stay at this hotel, especially if Ashley is working.

Pleasant Surprise

By Canuckinbklyn |

We stayed at Le Meridien for four nights; there are not a lot of restaurants in the immediate vicinity. We had dinner at Amuse two nights and were very pleased both times. The menu is rather limited but everything we tried, especially the seasonal vegetable appetizer and the strawberry-rhubarb-peach crumble with basil (!) sorbet, was very good. Service was a little slow but very friendly.

Good Eats After a Long Day Traveling

By Lori McCaffrey |

I arrived at the Meridian in Philadelphia and didn't feel like going out for dinner so I called for room service from aMuse. It was simple but very good. I had the Black Forest Ham and Cheese. It was stacked high meat and cheese and came with delicious french fries. I added assorted berries which were very fresh and tasty! My waiter, Shinoa was fantastic!

Have a drink here

By GoingGlobal79 |

Michelle the bartender is the best had her on two different weekends in October she is a champion, especially in an underserved hotel with the same staffing issues everyone else has in the city. If you are staying here definitely a must drink location.

Excellent, even better service with Chef Islam

By Ali |

Very great service from Chef Islam and the whole staff. Will be visiting again soon! Thanks for the delicious three course lunch!

Big disappointment

By Dolores M |

This pretty room has a lot of potential but really misses the mark as a restaurant. There was no wait staff just the hostess serving whatever came out of the kitchen. The menu sounded much better than how the dishes were executed. I am glad I did not try anything too ambitious from the kitchen. The place needs some professional help here. It could be a very nice intimate dining spot

Don't Bother - Philly Has Better Restaurants

By Sharlene S |

Went to the Philly Flower show and decided to give this newly renovated establishment a try. Extremely disappointed in dinner. My husband and I both had the Onion Soup. It was just ok. Alot and I mean alot of onions with very little broth for a soup. We both pushed this aside half eaten. They should have called it onion stew not soup. Had the Pappardelle with duck. This dish was awful. The duck was tasteless and the pasta was swimming in some sort of watery broth. My hubby had the Steak Frites. His dinner was much better, I will admit the fries were delish. For the price tag that comes with dinner try someplace else in the city of brotherly love.

Delightful surprise!

By glasssea123 |

We had 2 dining experiences and the food and service was just delightful. The menu was well done with special twists and I would highly recommmend. Atmosphere was ok but food & servers took to it to another level

Lovely view, great service and wonderful food

By droppinout |

We celebrated our anniversary at Amuse and were very happy with our choice. The view of City Hall from the restaurant was amazing - something that you can't see from very many places in Philadelphia! The wine and cocktail list were extensive, but expensive, too. My husband had amazing day boat scallops as an appetizer. I had braised venison cannelloni which were also fabulous. Our entrees were lobster bouillabaisse and steak frites and they were both excellent. We would highly recommend Amuse for dinner!

An enjoyable meal - would go again

By CtHelsBells |

I was staying at the hotel and having walked around the Neighborhood towards china town I decided I wasn't in the mood for Asian food so ended up back at my hotel. The menu is nice. Cocktails enticing (I only had wine). Caesar salad was lovely and fresh and very tasty croutons (weird to comment on that I know!). It could have done with more seasoning but none was available on the table and staff were so busy I didn't want to ask. The same for my entree - I had steak frites and my steak needed more salt. Sauce and steak were perfect - very tasty and would eat it all over again. Had the good fortune to order the neapolitan for desert and it was delicious. All in all a good meal. Service was stretched just because the two staff seemed to be covering and restaurant and bar. They were very pleasant and capable. Much better atmosphere and quality of food then a typical hotel restaurant.
