The place is packed every single time I go there. Food is good, service is fast and kind. There are many Italian restaurants in the city but there is something special and different about this one. I recommend the experience.

Though I did not have pizza here, I did get the opportunity to try some of their wings and cheese sticks. The items had been pre-ordered several days before the requested date. Unfortunately when we went to pick up the wings and sticks at the scheduled time the wings evidently had been given to someone else. We had to wait an additional 20 minutes or so for the order. Normally this wouldn't have been a problem however, the order was for a big party later that day. Management was very apologetic for the screw-up. After getting home and serving the wings it turned out they were VERY DRY and almost tasteless. The cheese sticks were okay. A few days later, after speaking to a manager, a discount coupon was offered for the poor wings. Being a visitor to Miami I did not have a chance to eat in the restaurant but noted the pizzas looked and smelled amazing. You can bet I will dine in on my next trip to Miami.

Prices good but parking was bad, garlic rolls and pizza delicious, quick service burt won't return!!

Our second time here while visiting family. Great good, the garlic bread is amazing and the food was very good! Lots of cheese and very homemade. Get dessert across the street, Ice Cream or fudge.

My first time there with my husband and son and it was busy, but from the moment we got there, they took care of us right away. Omg the best garlic breads I have ever had in my life...I'm not kidding!! Fresh and oh so good!!! We ordered a large cheese pizza. Cheesiest pizza ever!!! The service was quick and our waiter very attentive constantly making sure we were satisfied. When it was time to go, we asked for a box for our leftover pizza and 2 garlic rolls. To my surprise, he came back with more rolls to take home. That impressed me so much aside from the attentive service that I tipped our waiter extra money. He really deserved it. Definitely plan on going back again!! Highly recommend this place!! đđđ

The Big Cheese is a well known great casual restaurant for University of Miami students , UM sports fans and others are welcome too. It is bare bones for ambiance but has great food and always outstanding service. They have great pizza, salads , subs and more. We have never not liked anything weâve ordered. Their Caesar salad is the best we have had anywhere !

While visiting Miami, we let our daughter, who is a vegatarian, pick the place for us to eat dinner Saturday night. She chose The Big Cheese. It was 9:00 pm and the place was packed. We waited about 15 minutes for a table for 6. No problem since the aroma coming from the restaurant was wonderful. The server was prompt and very thorough. The servers in this establishment were really hustling. Love it. None of them would qualify to work in a McDonalds. They move to fast! We all ordered subs. They were delicious. Nice and hot and the portions were enormous! We highly recommend this establishment!!!!

Friendly service, large portions and great pizzas! Rhet is one of the best servers in the place and always makes you feel at home.

This was my favorite pizza place when I lived in Miami. Always go here when I'm back in my hometown for business or pleasure. I love their pies and the garlic rolls are smothered in garlic and delicious! The staff is warm and welcoming. Good food and reasonable prices.

I had not been to this restaurant for about 20 years.Took my son's lunch and talk when I use to go when I was young and single and hang with my friends. We arrived early but the manager open the place early for us and what a surprise the place got pack in 15 minuets ordered a cheese pizza and it was good. The staff was very friendly.

I've eaten at Big Cheese for years and years. Service is good and the atmosphere is fun for families with children, but he only time I'm not disappointed in the quality of the food is when I order pizza and maybe, when I order the garlic rolls with the garlic sauce on the side. The pasta dishes are a huge (I'll give them that) but it's all a sloppy mess of blandness. You do get big portions and couldn't possible finish your plate, mainly because it tastes so bad...

You know that neighborhood pizza-Italian place that's been there for years, awesome staff, authentic local feel, great food (garlic rolls a must have). This is it. Must try.

I will start by saying I know this place is an institution here in Miami. I have been here on many occasions, but this last visit was extremely disappointing. The service was terrible, the waiter was clueless and had our order completely wrong, not too mention we waited close to 30 minutes for our food. The food was okay definitely not like before. I will say this, they need to clean up there act or this institution will cease to exist. I will say the manager offered us desserts which was nice even though we did not take them. I will think twice about returning. Happy Dining.

My sister who use to live down by sunset brought me here years ago. My cousin and I just returned by chance after being down in the area. I can't say enough about this place the staff, THE FOOD, everything is amazing. The menu is extremely extensive which is a challenge in itself cause you just end up wanting one of everything! It's great for families, couples, friends, whoever. Love, love, love, if you are down in the area GO to The Big Cheese, you will love it!!!!

On Friday I ordered takeout from The Big Cheese and was extremely satisfied by the garlic rolls that were sent with my eggplant parmigiana. Since I have some dietary restrictions concerning pasta I asked to substitute sautĂ©ed spinach and this restaurant. gladly accommodated my request. Although when ordered they said it would take almost an hour it was delivered with half of that timeframe. I have frequently visited this place over the last decade and look forward until my next visit. I wish that I could have given it a rating of 4 1/2 stars but couldnât figure it out.

Our fishing group meets monthly for dinner. The last 2 times we selected Big Cheese in Homestead we were greatly disappointed. Service was super slow and the waiter was always blaming the manager and the kitchen staff for the problems. It was decided not to go here again. Two other tables also got up and left due to slow service.

The food is good enough to warrant its own carry out window. Three garlic rolls come with entrees. This place is very popular with families and university students. Their wine selection is small but good choices. Parking isn't always easy. Across the avenue is another old local favorite- Wall's Ice Cream.

I had not been to this restaurant for about 20 years. I moved back to Miami and took the kids there for lunch. We ordered a sausage pizza and it was amazing! The staff was very friendly and provided great service.

Great Italian place, has that family feel to it. Garlic Rolls are great. Wait staff was great. Super friendly. Had the fried oyster ceasar salad, oysters were fried perfectly, dressing on the salad was perfect. Also had the lasagna, which was very good. My nephew just moved to the area and he is putting this on his list as his go to restaurant!

Let me start by saying I didn't dine here. My co-worker gifted me his deluxe/supreme pizza leftovers the next day after he ate there, and I was amazed at how delicious this pizza is! The crust is nice and thin, but not like a cracker, and they are very generous with the toppings! Everything tasted real and fresh. I wish I lived closer to this place. It would definitely be my #1 choice! I might have to make the drive because I'm sure I will be lusting after another slice soon. You must try their supreme/deluxe pizza!!

From the pizza to the pasta, this place is off the charts when it comes to taste! We attended an event and all the catering / take out was from here and I can honestly say these guys know what they're doing!

As I discover more of my new city, I found a flyer for $2 off for this place and I thought it was worth checking out. I am a fan of mom and pop operations. I love my pizza places and I have to say this is my second favorite. This one is defiantly a place you want to go or get delivery for a huge pizza that tastes amazing..and apparently has been here since 1984 with the original owners.

The Big Cheese is great ! The food is excellent and the service even better. They don't take reservations so the wait can be 45 minutes +/-. If you come for a late lunch early dinner (between 4 and 5 pm) there is rarely a wait. Definitely worth the visit !

First time here after living in Miami almost my entire life - why? I don't know; but, on that they we felt like shorts, t-shirts and garlic rolls. And when those garlic rolls made it to the table we simply devoured them!!! Ambiance is totally relaxed and shorts, t-shirts and flip flops are a perfect attire. Just get there and enjoy the garlic rolls and any of the many pasta dishes they offer. I strongly recommend the mozzarella sticks - the best I have had in many years!!! We all had pasta dishes - be aware that they are served with a hefty amount of tomato sauce; which I will ask to serve less of next time. I am looking forward to a next visit to try their pizza. Service was fast and corteous. Prices were reasonable. Forget about cholesterol and try The Big Cheese at least once!!!

We have been coming here for several years. I have been coming for over 35 years myself. My daughter wanted to go for her birthday so off we were. The food is always on point and the garlic rolls are the best in town. As always it is a definite destination for good food.

Every time Weâve eaten here/it is scrumptiously delicious! They give you a lot of food too. You wonât leave hungry. Always glad to enjoy a meal here.

Whoever runs this place has a motto in life: Garlic is life, the rest is just details. If that's also your motto, you may want to go to this place regularly. The food was pretty good for the most part. The rolls were good, but holy moly, I've never seen so much garlic in my life. My Stromboli came with another years supply of garlic (on the side, which I was thankful for). The Stromboli and pizza are good, but nothing to write home about. The service was average at best. The credit card machine was down, so I was forced to withdraw cash from the ATM (with a $3 fee). They comped my soda, but even with that I didn't break even from the ATM fee. I like garlic in small doses...but even the Stromboli had garlic in it (at least in the meatballs, and possibly baked in as well). I might go back...or I might just find a place that doesn't make my mouth taste like garlic for 24 hours afterwards.

This man called me to offer me his magnet service for our business. We went with his service so he charged my credit card, and after that, he disappeared. THIS PLACE AND/OR PERSON is not trustworthy. I've called over 15 times and left over 5 messages, and he never returned my call or got back to me in any shape and form, nor did his company as well. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with this place, and especially who sold me. His name is Chuck.

Best garlic rolls and cheese pizza in town! Food is delish, ample variety, fresh and hearty! The staff is awesome!

We had the Big Cheese catered for a business meeting and I was blown away by the quality of the food. We had a chicken cheesy pasta that was very well put together. The chicken was tender and not dried out, and included were the spices that put a great blend of taste to the pasta and sauce that went with it. The salad was just as equally delicious. When I come back down to Miami, I will be sure to stop in again.

We've been coming here for years. It's one of our favorite restaurants. They give our kids pizza dough to play with while we are waiting for the food to arrive. They love it and we love it! They are entertained while we wait for the food. Great pizza, salads and garlic rolls. Service is always excellent. Highly recommend. If you find my review helpful, please click helpful. Thanks!

Great family place for pizza and Italian food. The day this place ever closes will be a very sad day for Miami. This is a great place to come with friends or family and share a laugh, and maybe a Chianti, or a pizza pie or a couple of plates of pasta. The prices are great for what you get. It gets a little busy at dinner time. Skip desert and go across the street to Walls Ice Cream.

We love their pizza... We had a large, half bacon n pepperoni... Oh my!!!, and the other half mushrooms n onions! The garlic rolls are awesome! And of course, the staff, they are the super!!! It is a fun and casual place!

This place is amazing! Pizza and pastas are really good. I recommend the seafood pasta. One entree is enough for two. The deluxe pizza is our favorite. Price is good also. Go online and get coupons.

Great food, friendly service in this Miami institution. Get there early, lines are usually heaviest during weekly lunch and most of the day on Saturday and Sunday. But it's worth the wait. I like my pizza extra crispy, and it always comes out great. They have a Pasta with vegetables that is to die for, and if you dont want Pasta with your chicken marsala just ask for veggies. SO TASTY. Big University of Miami supporters. I have not had a bad meal there yet!! Whether you're catering, or have a yearning for a slice of pizza. This is the place to go.

Family oriented, close to UM TOO. Pasta dishes and pizza to die for!!! Portions big enough for us to have lunch with leftovers!!

My family and I ordered a large cheese pizza, garlic bread and Caesar salads. It was pretty good, and our server was amazing!

Do you 'Bleed Orange and Green'? Well, if you don't, make sure to keep that to yourself when you visit The Big Cheese. From the second you walk in, you are in a UM time capsule. So take a second to admire the photos, autographs, banners and signs - they pay tribute to your team! Over the years I have been a loyal patron of The Big Cheese I have tried many of the dishes, but a few stand out among the others. First, obviously, are the garlic rolls. These are knots of doughy, garlicky goodness and not ordering them would be a huge mistake. Do it, I'll wait *twiddles thumbs* see? wasn't that worth it? Sure, we can split another dozen! Do you love meat and cheese? The Art Kehoe Atkin's Special is for you! Grilled chicken, meatballs, sausage and meat sauce with a truly INSANE amount of cheese melted all over it. This dish is a monster, I think I split it into 3 portions when I last ordered it. Want some carbs? Well, order yourself a side of spaghetti and round out your feast. Not in the mood for a ton of meat? Still want to reach cheese nirvana? Their stuffed shells are slathered in meat sauce, covered in melted cheese and filled with sweet, delicious, creamy Ricotta. Pizza. You can choose individual slices from the specialty pizzas, which is a nice touch that many places won't allow you to do. You can mix and match any toppings on any amount of slices - perfect! This helps when you are going out with 4 other people who can't agree that putting everything possible on the pizza is the best choice (it is). Their slices are huge, so be wary! (you can always ask for a box) Everyone I have encountered that works there has been cheery, upbeat and clearly just excited to be alive. It is rare to see this kind of enthusiasm in the food industry, so clearly The Big Cheese is doing something right. From jokes to extra garlic rolls, these waiters and waitresses are on point, and I love them for it. The one real negative is parking. Finding a spot here, especially one that is wider than a smart car, is difficult, You can park at the insurance place nearby ONLY if it is closed, if not, you will get towed.

We had a great dinner, good food, fast and nice service. A little bit surprised on the wall decoration (many âladiesâ).

Been going for a couple of years. 1st visit was good and the rest have been awful. Food is average but the place is nice and seem to go when we are in the area. Pizza is really not that good. King's county in Aventura is the best I've tasted in South Florida for NY style. They do have good salads and subs. Today went to watch game ordered some apps and then entrees. Everything came out at once. Not even touched the wings before the entrees came out. Server seemed pissed when we said something and took the entrees away and said to let him know when we wanted them. Watched him put him in the kitchen to just sit there until we wanted them. Not cool. Service and Hospitality are important regardless of the caliber of restaurant.

I've tried a lot of pizza, and i'm a huge foodie! This restaurant is delicious.. When they say Large they mean it. The ingredients are all fresh, the veggies are delicious and the desserts are to die for. Have the canolies!

I am a former New Yorker and love pizza, however find it so difficult to find any pizza that compares with NYC. But the Big Cheese comes as close as it gets. The hearty slice is nice and juicy -have a side salad and soda at reasonable prices. They have been around a long time, so they must be good. Enjoy!

Went to dinner with the family. My girls had the shrimp pasta Alfredo. My gf had some mushroom Pizza and I had a full chicken Caesar with anchovies and it was great. Of course we had the best garlic rolls in town.

None of the staff wear masks. Go in at your own risk. How incredibly stupid and selfish. No pizza is worth getting Covid.

If you're looking for great Pizza, Pasta, and everything else, Big Cheese is a great place to eat in or take-out. Their Garlic bread and Clam with white sauce Pasta is fantastic! They even have sandwiches.

I go for lunch every week. The Pizza is great and also the garlig rolls. It is a friendy and clean place with good service.

The garlic rolls that they served you after you sit down were out of this world and probably good for a party of four! And the pasta and stromboli just hit the spot. Good customer service and we had a great dinner.

for a long time used to be the greatest pizza in Miami. Not any more, like every restaurant , once they had fame, they stopped trying.

When they say that they go took me to a pizza in Miami was like a ...what a pizza?? After tasting the pizza mind chance completly. The flavor was divine, the service quick and very good. Really a very nice place to go outside of the tourist places and with a great local flavor. Go their you will enjoy.

We when for dinner with my daughter, first time for me, and wow!!! First is so busy, but they have a great way to move people around, not long waiting. And then you get to seat and great service, immediately you have somebody asking what do you want to drink and soon your waitress to ask if we are ready to order....and meanwhile you are waiting for dinner you ask for those delicious galick rolls yummy!!! And dinner was as well delicious. The ambiance is very nice you see a lot of families, I like it!!! Service, food ambiance excelente!!! Recommended!!!

My family and I have been here on many occasions and we all enjoy the excellent selections on the menu. The food is FABULOUS and the service is GREAT! They are ALWAYS consistent. Thank you!

Prime location, Great Service, Awesome Food, Generous Portions. Went with my family, Carlos and Rhex provided too level service. Food was delicious and fast. Great family restaurant highly recommended will definitely be back.

We went to this long standing restaurant that has been around for years with our friends and family on a Saturday early evening. The food quality has declined as the prices went up! The garlic rolls were swimming in oil and the kids didnât want to touch them so we ordered another round dry. We ordered the Cesar salad which was the highlight of the meal, which reminded me of âthe old daysâ. The pizza was over cooked and dry and a disappointment. The kids didnât like their chicken wings. I will only go back for the Cesar salad.

What can I say about this restaurant except that I love the ambiance, the service and of course the food. Located in Coral Gables near the University of Miami. This is a place where Dwayne Johnson used to frequent went he was a student at UM. Very casual place.

Casual atmosphere service is great. The soups ok clam chowder was excellent. The pizza was ok not for me.

Big Cheese has been at this location for many years - the owners are UM fans and it shows in the decor. We've been coming here every so often for quite a while. This time, we both had clam chowder to start and the seafood pasta with red sauce. Our waitress was wonderful and made us welcome - it almost felt like we were family. The food was delicious as always. One warning, though: the portions are *very* generous and you WILL overeat! My husband calls the servings here 'linebacker sized' and you will probably be able to make a full meal from your leftovers. Prices are very reasonable. Warm garlic rolls are served as an appetizer - they are delicious and you'll be able to repel vampires all night. The only downside to this restaurant is the parking - it's so popular the lot is always crowded.

very good delivery service very good staff and I love it because it is all about the unit far I love the garlic rolls

I went to The Big Cheese with my family and another family. We had a group of eight and it took 25 minutes to get us a table, despite the fact there were empty tables that could have been moved. Once seated though the service was fast and efficient and the food came out quickly and was great. The pizza had a nice crust and good sauce with enough cheese. The garlic rolls are great and they put the garlic on the side for the kids. Fun place and good pizza.

I have yet to have anything that I can say is BAD at Big Cheese. the one item that stands out is their Garlic Bread. It really is amazing and a MUST. Their pizza and pasta dishes are all YUMMY! Yes...it is a popular place and is always PACKED. Prepare to come and wait for a table. But it is worth the wait. Dessert? You can cross the street and have some Yummy Ice cream. :-)

very nice food eat spaghetti and pizza really good and service âŠ..i recomend this place was my first time went with my whole family

Popular, always busy, local Italian place. Quite tasty, waiters efficient but don't expect much. Good for a quick bite or pizza take away.

We've been coming to the Big Cheese for many years, and the food just keeps getting better and better. Huge portions, fast and great service all the time

We tried the pink pasta with shrimp and it was delicious! The environment was great and the service very good. The waiting time to get the food is acceptable We tried tiramisu for dessert and WOW spectacular!

Had the pleasure of eating dinner with my family at The Big Cheese by the university of Miami campus. Service was very attentive, food was very good and the price was right. Garlic rolls were a meal unto themselves. Salad dressing was clearly homemade and every one enjoyed their meals. Can't wait to return next time we're in the Gables.

We have been going to Big Cheese for quite a while. The food here is always good. From the garlic rolls to the subs to the pasta. Real good stuff, but my favorite of all is the clam chowder. It is above this world. I have had a lot of clam chowder, but nothing compares to this one. The only problem is they only serve it Mon,Wed,and Fri. What a shame:(

We had the antipasto salad and the philly wrap. Both were tasty and good. The portions are large and we took half of each home. The prices are very good. Service is always attentive.

Great pizza!! Great pasta!! Great garlic bread!! Great antipasto salad!! Portions are big. Our server was Rhett; friendly and personality plus! This local spot serves all the way up to closing - thank goodness, because even on a Wednesday night at 9:45 the parking lot was completely full and people were still filing in! Can't wait for a repeat!

Went here with the family and had an excellent meal! I had the stuffed eggplant with their homemade red sauce and I requested the pasta to be covered with Alfredo. The food was absolutely amazing the flavors were authentic and reminded me of New York Italian shops. The wife had Alfredo pasta and the kids had a cheese pizza. My oldest son didnât want pizza and had a half of a meatball sub instead and he finished the entire thing. All of that and our bill was around $50!!! We will definitely be coming back to this place. Also I donât want to forget to mention the staff were great and service was top notch. This was on top of the place being extremely crowded with patrons.

Get Ready to Eat! Portions are Out of this World! Plenty for a couple to dine! Plenty to Brown Bag too! A great place to watch sports as well! GetSome!!

Whenever I visit my hometown, this restaurant is a must for me. This Big Cheese has been very consistent since I first started going there in the 80âs. It is a very casual place that has both indoor and outdoor seating. The garlic rolls are absolutely awesome as is their Caesar salad. Most dishes I have had are all really good. The one dish I am not a fan of is their linguine and clams. I would not order that dish again, but everything else is great. Pizza is also really good.

Lunch or dinner, hard to beat this place for tasty Italian fare. I've been dining here for better than 20 years, never had a bad meal or bad service. Family run restaurant you can count on to have the same great food each time you visit. Reasonably priced with large portions. Best , most garlicky garlic rolls in town. My favorites are the Spaghetti parmigian & the Chicken Franchaise.

Best pizza! Best staff! Always packed for a reason. Never a bad experience and always a full stomach! Go Canes!

Went with the wife and the girls. It had been a couple of months so we were due. We sat outside in 2 tables as there was a very long wait inside. We has the garlic rolls which were great. I tried the new adkins meal with sausage, chicken and meatballs smothered in cheese. My family had the shrimp pasta Alfredo with fettuccine which they get every time. We had so much food to take home as well.

Garlic rolls were flavorful, however, dough was undercooked. Pizza is extremely overpriced for the size and it did not have any flavor. Again, dough was raw. Ordered a calzone, great flavor, BUT slightly burned in the outside, DOUGH WAS RAW !!! Chicken wings are another rip off.....over priced, not very fresh, tasted like freezer burned. My local (and much closer joint, Casola's, has bigger and better pizza at a better price and the wings are huge). Went for the calzone in specific, hubby wanted to compare other items. Need a renovation with grimy walls and floor and the ceiling tiles look like they will fall at any moment.

Pasta ben cotta e tanto pesce. Davvero bravi. Il tutto in una location tipicamente americana. I am Italian and we know 2 things are sacrosanct: pasta and pizza. I wanted to venture the choice on SEAFOOD PASTA; linguine with seafood. I can assure you that I was not disappointed. Well cooked pasta and lots of fish. Really good. All in a typically American location.

Great Pizza, Salads & Home-Made Pastas! South Miami locals spot for years! Friendly and knowledgable staff make your visit a pleasant one. Order the Ceasar Steak Salad (enough to brown bag!). GetSome!!

The best garlic rolls around .....Nice thin style pizza and a large menu of all the Italian favorites. Very busy but not too long of a wait to be served.

I love their Seafood Pasta... You will too... They have pizza, salads, pasta dishes & desserts... Yummy, Chocolate Mousse Pie/cake... This place is located in a wonderful part of South Miami, right off of US1 & SW 67 ave... very convenient... Turnpike around the corner also. Check it out.., It is a big Miami Hurricanes Player & student favourite.

Was quick and tasty! Very nice employees who went extra mile to make sure customers were happy. Brought plates, napkins, plastic forks, etc all with the pizza since I was staying in a hotel.

I LOVE The Big Cheese. I grew up in Miami and every time I go back to visit The Big Cheese is a MUST. I love that the menu is always the same. The foo d is awesome and so are the prices. My favorites are the garlic knots, caesar salad and the stromboli. You won't regret eating here, promise.

Love this place and have been coming for years. The pizza, garlic knots, and Caesar salad are all amazing. The Caesar dressing, although potent, is probably the best I've ever had. It's a Miami staple.

Family dinner after Christmas visit, service was excellent and friendly, nice outdoor seating, good beer selection, pizza and garlic rolls excellent

This is a casual restaurant. The food is excellent and prices are good. Lots of dishes besides pizza. For lunch I had the Chiken picata with spaghetti. I was told the portions were huge, so I ordered a half order. It was delicious and the servive was great. Full of locals so you know its good

Been here for years. Pretty much you can not go wrong with anything you order. Large portions , great garlic rolls. Good service .slow at times because of the crowd.

Tucked off the corner of us1 and red this Italian RESTARAUNT has been around for ages Good pizza and they move it quickly try getting there a few minutes before 12 or you may be stuck...parking is a nightmare though

We absolutely love The Big Cheese, great food great service. Always a great atmosphere and always great food. It's always a great experience.

Very friendly and attentive staff! They help each other's tables. The chicken Caesar salad is delicious and the half portion is very generous. Good homemade garlic rolls. Nice thin crust pizza. Definitely will return.

Ordered delivery from TBC last night. Ceasar Salad was good. The Extra Large Deluxe Pizza was more like a medium , sliced in to many slices (some were slivers not slices) . The ingredients were very few & the pizza was dry not cheesy. $45+ dollars for a salad & pizza which is supposed to have sausage , peperoni, onions, peppers & extra cheese. I counted 6 slices of peperoni, 5 pepper stirps & the sausage were a few dry little clumps........hardly any cheese...definitely not xtra cheese.

Nothing fancy about Big Cheese, but get ready for a fantastic experience! The setting is basic. Come in as casual as you like ... and then get ready for spectacular pasta, pizza, salads, beer. And, suggest you start off with their famous garlic rolls. Unreal!! The service is good. Friendly, and quick. And the prices? One of the best values in town!

It is a family restaurant large menu mostly Italian, not gourmet, but good food informal but good service, they aim to please your request, prices on some items a little high but overall a good place for your buck

The Big Cheese, a popular Italian Miami restaurant with strong University of Miami "Hurricanes" ties, has been in business many years, and it shows. It has a loyal following of all ages with plenty of take-outs during the pandemic. In fact, I would go so far as to say that the Big Cheese is the very model of what a successful restaurant is, or could be. The food is great, the menu exceptionally varied, the prices surprisingly moderate, and the staff helpful and friendly. It's a wonderful family restaurant and also a great choice for a night out with friends. The area is safe and well-lighted.

I was hesitant to write this review because it's our secret lunch spot. The pizza is very cheesy and delicious. They also offer complimentary rolls .My son and I split a large pepperoni and mushroom. On a previous visit I had the chicken salad which was NYC deli quality. We love the pizza here but in the future we are going to try something different. We always say that but the pizza is so fulfilling that we just keep coming back for more!!

Fantastic Pizza and Pasta Plates-always too much for 1 sitting-be ready to take home. The pizza is extremely tasty-we had veggie and cheese pies. The garlic rolls (you can never have enough garlic) are the best. I had chicken parm and it was excellent. Great atmosphere, be ready to wait in line at primetime.

Food was excellent and cheesy. The rolls are for the garlic lovers in your life. Insane amount of garlic on top. Had pizza and pasta.

This is not at all a fancy spot, extremely casual, in fact. What you will find is fantastic Italian food ... all the pastas you can name, huge salads, spectacular pizza, and all value priced. Excellent food for the entire family ... eat in, or take out!!! TIP: Garlic rolls! Ask for the garlic rolls ... you will LIKE!!!

A great place for families, ball teams, and dorm dwellers. You can not go wrong with anything on the menu. Pizza, salads, subs, Italian food. The best of the visit will be the never ending class of soda drinks! A must stop.

I ask the waiter to recommend a plate for me, and the pizza maker guy jump in to the conversation and said "please try the Seafood pasta". The pasta was cook perfect and the seafood was fresh and tasty. I will definitely recommended this place. The customer service is outstanding.

Family of 8 out to dinner after the ball game. The Big Chese was the perfect spot. We found an extensive menu and ended up ordering Lasagna, Strimboli, Spaghetti and Meatballs and the house special. Everyone enjoyed their meal! Large portions at reasonable prices make this the perfect spot for a casual meal. The beer was cold and refreshing. Expect a wait at peak hours, but it will all be worth it.

I used to enjoy the Big Cheese back when I was a UM student. I brought my kids to Coral Gables for a weekend visit, and I thought they'd like it. We ran into a small issue when we arrived, and dine-in was cash-only (and I didn't have cash on me). We ended up just ordering as take out and bringing it back to our hotel room (which actually worked out better for us). Pizza was great, Chicken Parm was a huge portion. My kids and I loved all of it. We will definitely be back next time we're in South Miami or Coral Gables.

I used to visit Big Cheese on a regular basis for over 20 years. I moved to West Kendall a few years ago and had not visited since. i was in the area with my kids that loved this place and decided to go back. The garlic rolls as always were great!!!. I had the calzone that was full of cheeses and sausage and my daughte had her favorite the pasta alfredo with shrimp. The portions are hugh so we took my son the left overs and he loved it. I need to find a way to get back more often.

We like this quick restaurant. I like pizzas (mostly X-Large) :-) My children like too. Sometimes i take out pizza from here. Quick and cheep.

I want to share responsibility for the non-tasty food I ate by admitting I should have ordered the pizza which they are apparently known for. Instead, I ordered the crispy chicken sub and my husband ordered a meatball sub. He only could eat half of his as he said it tasted terrible. I then gave him the other half of mine because I thought mine was terrible. He ate it. LOL I guess if you are hungry you will eat something terrible if it is different. This place has good reviews which is why I picked it. Maybe they just had an "off" night...I don't know. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt which is why I'm not giving fewer stars. I'd order pizza next time.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Dadeland/Miami area and they delivered it to our room. The sauce wasn't spicy like most places and we go back I would order from them again.

Iâve been eating here for years and itâs always great. The Caesar salads, whether plain, steak or chicken are always tasty. The sandwiches, pasta and pizza are equally great. The sautĂ©ed chicken with mushrooms is my favorite. If not too hungry you can order a half order. Must visit.

We ate here on the recommendation of a local friend and we were a party of 8. They were crowded and busy with take out, college students, and families on a Friday night. The facility was cleaned and priced right and everything our party ordered was delicious. We had fabulous garlic rolls, buffalo wings, eggplant parm, and pizza. Would definitely go again.

There was a long line of people waiting to get in to eat! On the outside it looked like nothing special. Once inside the graciousness began! Every staff member was friendly and eager to assist. I never saw a restaurant where the staff seemed to be having fun in addition to working their buns off! The price was so reasonable and the size of all our meals was Grande!! The pizza was the best, full of toppings and crispy crust. Pasta platters were enough for more than one. We shared a pasta platter and a fresh slice of pizza..yes you can buy it by the slice and it's made fresh... not sitting around. Be sure to stop in for a great meal..and top it off with ice-cream across the street at Wall,sđ·đșđš

I have been eating there since I was a kid and continue go back all the time, the seafood pastas are excellent and the plates are huge.It gets a little crowded on evenings fri/sat which is a good thing in a way, meaning the food is great. ONE CAUTION, Don't park in the karate parking lot next door, those people are MORONS and will get your car towed even when their closed. Guess they are jealous of the great business next door.

The food is decent, but the posters of half-naked women all over the walls and bathroom are offensive to me as a woman and especially as a parent of small children. I spend a lot of time assuring my children that they are worth far more than their physical appearances and I stress that women are not mere objects to be ogled. Unfortunately, I was forced to endure a lunch there with my children looking on. I will not be back.

pizza was excellent and garlic rolls delicious. But we felt rushed we were not even done with our food and they started to pick up the plates. Service could be improved.

Great food, good portions, always fresh.. Garlic rolls "Yum", very casual. Good price. Very popular place.

Always a great Italian-American food. Fresh rolls served with Pasta Dinners with or without copious amounts of minced garlic(I like). We been eating the same things here lately now that I don't work close by anymore. Had the Chicken Marsala. Thinly pounded chicken breast lightly floured and cooked with a generous amount of mushrooms with the Marsala sauce served on top a huge amount of linguine. Tastily served with the pasta on the bottom and then poured on top by the perfectly cooked chicken and mushrooms follows by all that Marsala wine sauce. All so yummy! We got the seafood pasta for second dish served with a mixed seafood of mussels on the shell, minced clams and shrimp cooked a creamy sauce that becomes a seafood sauce served over another generous serving of linguine. Also yummy! Plus this time I had a takeout and just as delicious as when we eat in. I went I. A Friday night for the take out and the place is always busy, so I had a 20-25 minute wait for the food, which is decent considering how many people are eating in and taking out simultaneously. We also like the pizza and steak Caesar salad.

The ambience in this restaurant is great for families. We like to sit outside. The rolls are delicious. They come with a garlic and marinara sauce that are delicious. The pizza is tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant.

A favorite of the family. Excellent menu, large selections, huge portions, great service. Good value, perfect for families, moderate prices.

Had lunch here recently and rekindled my love for this place. It has amazing garlic rolls, good pizza and Italian pasta dishes. Really enjoyed the relaxed vibe. The garlic rolls are amazing (and potent) and we order a large pizza that we ended up taking half home. It wasn't busy when we went so noisy level and chaos was at a minimum. Very family friendly spot and of course Walls Ice Cream is across the street if you want to continue the nostalgia experience for dessert. Wait staff were very good, fast, friendly and to the point.

I love the Big Cheese. I was born in Miami, and this is a classic Pizza and Pasta spot locals love, and few tourists find. However, it's easy to find. But best of all, is the kitchen crew. They are busy, busy, busy, but never too busy to help you when you walk up to the take out counter. My favorite entree is the chicken breast with mushrooms and choose on pasta...it is GREAT!...and the portions are really generous. You can eat "in" too...they have a nice dining room, but we've gotten in the habit of picking up our order for take out. It's always ready, everybody's pleasant, and it's reasonable too. BTW, you need to be a U of M sports team fan here...they're huge supporters. Location is simple...in So. Miami just north of So.Dixie on SW 67 Ave.

One of my fav places to eat since I was a kid. Problem is, the place looks the same as when I was a kid. The food is awesome. Best Caesar ever. Why can't they upgrade the place. Fix it up. Remodel, refresh it. Much needed. Food is the best, but the place looks like a disaster.

Great family restaurant with plenty to choose. The pizza is excellent. Pasta dishes are huge. The garlic rolls are one of a kind. Wait time can be 30 minutes but worth the wait.

This is one of our favorite local spots that truly is a local gem. Great giant pizza slices with generous portions. Pasta dishes are abundantly cheesy and can serve 2-3 people. The homemade calzone is a must try, but come hungry!

Had not been back in years, but went for lunch on Saturday and it was great not to mentioned packed. Real good food, not fancy, but great family place. Won't stay away so long.

The place hasn't changed much since the 80s. It's a college pizza joint right by University of Miami. It's decorated like a college sports bar. It gets packed. The pizza and garlic knots are delicious. You can watch the pizza chef making pizzas while you wait for your food as they have a partially open kitchen. They serve Coca-Cola products.

Always busy, lots of regulars. Pizza a little doughy but plenty of sauce and cheese..service runs good to excellent

I left Miami for college in 1979 but my parents still live there. I have been traveling down to South Miami a lot more often to visit them. Their ability to cook for themselves is slowly diminishing. The well-known chain restaurant "C" they go for Italian pick-up in South Miami is not only expensive but just plain unacceptable. I'll rake them over the coals later. Each visit, as I drive by this fairly nondescript building off of Dixie Highway, making my way to Dadeland, I always say I'm going to stop by. Well, I finally did. I had to find a better Italian restaurant for mom and dad in the area. The Big Cheese made us so happy! I went for take-out. As I entered, all of the old Miami memorabilia put a big smile on my face. It made me feel young again. I chose the worst night. It was crowded. Saturday night, early evening with large parties and little league sports teams but could not have run into nicer, friendlier staff wanting to please. This place is organized chaos. It's not a place for a quiet, romantic dinner. The Big Cheese is for plain folks and families who want fantastic, authentic Italian food. With the intention of having an extra meal for the next day, I ordered lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs with extra meatballs, chicken parmesan, sautéed chicken and mushrooms, house salads, and garlic knots.(They gave me extra because I had to wait a few extra minutes) These days, that means something to me. Everything was delicious-even loved the house Italian salad dressing. Out the door, including tax and tip was about fifty dollars. I wish I would have gotten a slice of that cheesecake. Hey! These people want you to "Mangia, mangia!". We made four extra meals out of this order. Very generous portions. In my opinion, Marinara sauce is one of life's simple pleasures. I love plenty of sauce. The Big Cheese does it right! Lasagne usually tends to run dry but not this one. What do they do? The sautéed chicken and mushrooms was impressive. It had just enough tang and was so moist with the lemon garlic sauce. Those garlic knots are the devil! They were buttery, garlicky, and need I say more? As far as local South Miami Italian restaurants I would want to return to, this was going to be strike three and thank goodness it turned out to be a home run. Yep! Definitely going back and will happily recommend The Big Cheese to everyone.

Sports bar feel that has excellent large portions of pasta, great garlic rolls, and yummy pizza. Reasonable prices

This restaurant is a good Italian place on the more casual side. The garlic rolls are fantastic. If not a fan of garlic, get them with the garlic on the side or without. The Caesar salad is excellent. Pizza slices aren't as good as ordering a fresh pie. Friends enjoyed the steak Caesar salad, I had the grilled chicken Caesar and eggplant parm sub. I always return here when in town.

What a super restaurant. You might have to wait to get seated because itâs so popular, but itâs definitely worth it. If youâre looking for tasty food in a trendy atmosphere, this is your place. The portions are more than ample and the taste is âWOW.â I canât wait to go back. Itâs worth a trip.

ordered the new entree " beef tips ". colossal mistake., beef inedible. some sort of acidic spice or marinade. waiter got permission to try another item, we chose ravoli--so-so next time stick with their pizza

Was at my hotel and they suggested the Big cheese deliver in . Had onion and meat ball and their garlic bread it was fantastic . The delivery guy my husband knew from last time funny enough he remembers him too. This was Dadeland Miami the big cheese . I would suggests this is great if your hungry because bring you a lot and cheap .

This place was highly recommended. So we tried it. At first it was great. From there it went south. The pizza was the greasiest I have ever had. The server checked on us once and ignored us the rest of the time. I saw a news article on tipping and it said you should tip 20% no matter what. Sorry I wonât comply. Service must be very good to get a decent tip. Just because you bring food to my table doesnât make you a good server. The amount of food served on one plate is really too much. We donât need to eat that much food. Best thing of the meal weâre the wings. Sorry your not the Big Cheese in town. Better servers is the answer.

This is another of these landmark places in Miami and a must do place if you are in town for a bit. I usually order the Caesar Salad and a cheese pizza and am supremely satisfied. In my opinion, the best caesar salad in the city. Highly recommend.

Went here on a recommendation from a friend who used to work at the U and we were not disappointed. It has a great college pizza place feel with Miami stuff all over the walls. Our server was hilarious and very conscious of our needs. We ordered the garlic rolls and ended up getting another order because they were so good! We both go the chicken parm dinner and it was loaded with cheese which makes sense given the name. The only qualm I had was that both of our chicken was a little overcooked. Good value though for the amount of food they give you.

Guys.. Let me start this off by saying i am in the 1% of people who don't like pizza OR pasta. Let me explain. I have never had either made to perfection like they do it at The Big Cheese! I remember coming here years ago, and never really went back. Fast forward to Present Day.. I've visited this restaurant three times in the past week. And not once have I been let down. The Servers are always awesome (some don't mention that they have "Half Portions" of certain dishes i.e, Pasta and it also isn't mentioned in the menu but some do.) If you're down to eat about half your weight in amazing pasta for less than $20, go with the Full Size portions, plus you'll have some to take home. The food is served pretty quickly for the amount of customers they have at any given time. not only is the food served quick, but it is always insanely fresh. The Garlic Rolls are a must, with the garlic either on top, or on the side, and even if you have them add cheese to them (drool) - Their salads are always nice, light and crisp, dressed to perfection (but ask for extra croutons on your ceasar!) I enjoy that they offer slices, even of their specialties (The delight is my go-to!) and the fact that each and every one of their dishes are amazing is the toughest part of visiting The Big Cheese. Again, i'm not a pasta person.. so when I tell you that each time i've gone, I leave craving my next dish.. and mind you I'M STUFFED! And no, i'm not a paid spokesperson, im just a happy customer who appreciates good food and service at an affordable price. **No pictures were taken because i lose my mind when I see my plate approaching my table, sorry people, i'm pregnant lol

Subs, pizza's etc. All the good Italian stuff. Dine in. Packed on a late night TH. TVs to watch the game too. Good for kids too; nice and noisy!

Ordered a pizza and pasta yesterday and have never been this sick in my life. Stay away very greasy possibly bad cheese. I do not recommend this place to anyone

Great Italian food!! Being a native New Yorker itâs hard to find good Italian food, Big Cheese makes my list!! Generous portions, good prices, garlic rolls are THE BEST, great service & super friendly staff!!!

This was the second time I have gone and both times I had been brought there by my local friends and they could not be more correct. Nothing fancy, just a great local find. This is not an overpriced tourist joint but I guarantee you will feel comfortable here none the less. The staff was running as fast as they could to keep up with the lunchtime crowd, I hear the weekends are very busy. The garlic and butter rolls are a great starter, and the menu has many, many options. Try it you will not be disappointed and you will not break the bank here either.

It was my first time in this restaurant. We had the sautéed seafood appetizer and, at first, we thought it looked weird in tomato sauce, but it was delicious. We decided to split our main course, seafood pasta, it was quite nice too, though it only had mussels and shrimp (just like the Appetizer). Portions in this place are huge, we shared both and we only hardly ate half of the main course as it had already been split in two. We had a girl who took our order, but Joey was the one who was on top of everything, drinks, food, silverware, etc. What I loved the most of his service is that he was able to anticipate our needs. He was running up and down and he still managed o make us feel we were the only table he was tending to even when the place was packed. I appreciated his fantastic service and I will be back and I will definitely recommend it

Went for a late lunch with my wife. We split a Caesar Salad and each had a slice. All food was very good served cold and hot as appropriate. Staff iwas attentive to our needs without interruptioning our lunch. A few years ago the Big Cheese had a bad period but has recovered nicely. If you stopped going a few years ago itâs time to return.

Disgusting! The chicken and veal parmigiana were burned making the meat real tough so they covered it with spaghetti sauce. The Philly Cheesesteak was definitely đŻ NOT a philly cheesesteak, it looked more like the meat from a burrito on an Italian roll. The sauce was so sweet you could taste the sugar. My daughter vomited on the way to the car. Very disappointing. $110 thrown away.

If you want simple but awesome pizza, subs and pasta in a family hometown vibe. This is the place to go. The staff is upbeat, the food is solid, and the customers are regulars.

Went for lunch with a few friends and really enjoyed our meals. The food was very good and the thing about cheese is no joke cause they pile it on (which is great cause I love cheese).. Prices are OK no meal is really less than $10 which is fine. Parking and the restaurant itself are really tight but other than that it was great!

My primary goal was to get something to eat delivered to my room, and they did, as promised. I liked the food, maybe would order again, but you must be in the mood for pasta, if I recall correctly

Very friendly service. Delivered in the exact time frame they stated. The menu is large....with lots and lots of item choices...salads, sandwiches, pizza, all kinds of pastas, calzones, seafood, chicken, desserts and more. The food was all good and are large portions (even the 1/2 size salads). The garlic knots were a little doughy, they could have been cooked a little longer. Delicious strawberry cheesecake! We didn't try the pizza, just lasagna, salad, and cheesecake. We would order from them again.

As a former Miami local, this is one of my favorite, low key restaurants in the area. Reasonably priced and family friendly with a laid back atmosphere. Some of our favorites are the garlic rolls, calamari and pizza.

My husband and I stopped here on our way to Ft. Lauderdale coming from the Keys because of the good reviews. I'm so glad we did! It was some of the best pizza we have ever had.

Great family place with University of Miami Football memorabilia.the service was good and all the food was excellent. very largo food portions.

The Big Cheese has been on my radar for several decades. No matter what, it provides great value for the prices, - and the best pizza in town. I usually order "take out". The owner seems to always be on the premises, - which is why (in my opinion) the quality remains consistently high. If you're not looking for anything fancy, - but a good family dining experience, the Big Cheese is great for classic Italian food!

I used to live nearby and would frequent them often. Finally went back today and got my favorite eggplant Parmesan sub and fettuccine Alfredo to last me a few days. Really great place everything made fresh on the spot.

My husband and I used to go to The Big Cheese all the time while studying at UM 10 + years ago. We were just in town last week, and wanted to take our daughters to somewhere we used to go back when we were dating. It was SO good! Our daughters loved the cheese pizza, my husband loved his calzone, and I loved my spaghetti with chicken and mushrooms (The Walter KBC Special I think it was called). I have dreamed about those garlic rolls, and they were just as good as we remembered! We will definitely be back next time we are in town!

It is a shame the poor customer service at this location, we were a party of nine and since we our party was incomplete, did not allow us to sit at the table and asked us to please sit outside it being 93 degrees outside.

Informal. Large variety of choices. Awesome service. Consistent high quality food at a very reasonable price. What more can a guy ask for.

From the moment you walk in the door until the moment you leave you feel as if you have been there a 100 times befor. The staff is over the top friendly and helpful. My waitress was incredibly helpful when trying to decide between 2 dishes and gave me additional information that helped me embellish the choice I did select. The rolls are crazy good and if you ever worry about vampires you should definitely ask for the garlic rolls; you won't be disappointed.

Went to lunch with my daughter and her best friend. We started with the amazing garlic rolls and they were great. We had the fettuccine with shrimp, the spaghetti Parmesan and the crispy chicken Caesars. All the food was very good as always.

Don't be put off by the looks of this place, It has looked the same for as far as I can remember. Great restaurant for a large family or just friends gathering. Plenty of parking, good, fast service. The kicker is the huge menu with almost every variation you can think of Italian cuisine. Yes, they have large pizzas and every king of pasta you can think of. The Caesar salad is actually amazing. Cant go wrong with this restaurant. The pricing is just fine. Strong Recommendation

This restaurant is busy because they offer tasty Italian food for a decent price with good customer service. They have both indoor and outdoor seating options. The building itself is older and adds charm to the dining experience. They also offer beer, wine, and dessert.

This is a popular restaurant with university students and everyone else! Some of the greatest garlic rolls around! Always piles of food, whatever you order, and delicious. We've had most of their meals and have never been disappointed. And the pizza is Great!

Ate there while on a vacation trip with our grandchildren. Fun and for a family dinner. Food was delicious and very reasonable. Atmosphere is casual. We really enjoyed it!

Well my husband parents home were close to the UM , so he visited this place long time ago, and kept coming back, their menu it's huge, It's a classic place for families and couples or maybe have a reserved room for private which was my impressions . The place it's pack at 3 or 4 pm in the afternoon, pretty good service, not the graters but what to complain if you got time. It's not a fancy place, but very busy. Sorry for the person whom complain about his check, it can happens in better places even if they are not busy. Parking can be an issue too. About the bar not so sure, but they serve wine and beers.

Crowded and loud just what you'd expect at a "old school" pizza shop. Good food garlic knots are amazing no short of garlic! Btw I'm a UNC fan in a Miami U joint!

My first visit here because I usually order papa johns for my Italian cravings and also I'm lazy. I end up watching Netflix and chilling but in a non- sexual way & alone lol. Nick was my server and had my coke refilled every time I hit half empty which was unbelievable. Food was amazing and definitely helped me towards my goal of getting a "dad bod". I had some weird&huge dish that was only chicken-sausage-meatballs, pizza sauce, and mozzarella cheese melted on top of it; where has that been my whole life? Place was a bit busy but service and food were on point; I will visit again soon.

Great menu and prices, one of the best pizzas I have tried. Pretty crowded on the weekends though, had to wait 45 min.

One of our favorites, The Big Cheese is a great place for classic Italian comfort food. The pizza is good, but the pasta is amazing. Best pink sauce in town. And don't get me started on the mozzarella sticks, they are made in house and are the best. Everything is fresh and tasty. Service is fast and on point. Portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. Highly recommend.

I have been going here for several years and is always on my list of good little local places to go with good food while I'm traveling. The Italian dishes are very good and the pizza is one of the best in the area. The wait staff is awesome. One of the waiters knows what I want to drink when I walk in and I'm only there every few months. Atmosphere is basic but food the great.

Visited here with a friend and two young children. From the moment I walked in. I could smell the pizza sauce and it made my mouth water. The first thing they bring you are these freshly well baked garlic rolls with plenty of garlic on the side. They are absolutely delicious! We ate seafood pasti, baked ziti and pizza. Everything was awesome. We asked for the check and our waiter brought the check in one hand and a glass covered with cotton candy in the other. We had fun making fools out of ourselves for that candy. Needless to say we went back two more times.

I have visited many times and the food never disappoints us. The Portions area big and tasty. The rolls are fresh with lots of garlic. I had the Silver Badge pasta and a meatball on the side. Great family place. Very friendly and a good value
One of my favorite places to eat
This restaurant is great! Has a large menu with mostly Italian dishes and located dkwn the road from the University of Miami. However, I must advise you on the outside it looks like you should keep driving, but the quality of the food is what keeps me coming back. Prices were fair last time I ate there and the service is good. My favorite dish is the baked ziti. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is the parking situation.
