I was looking for a kid friendly Vietnamese restaurant as I have to active toddlers. So happy that I found this place. We tried Chao Tom, egg rolls, fresh spring roll for appertisers. They were all delicious. The House pho and the crispy seafood noodles were great entries to share with the kids as well. On top of the great food, the staff were so friendly. They were very patient with my boys. All in all, highly recommend this restaurant.

Had a terrific bowl of pho and fresh salad rolls with peanut sauce. We ordered the low carb option, switching noodles out for extra veggies - loved it ! Very clean, great service, highly recommend. Will be back.

I was recently in Portland and stopped in The Boiling Bowl for an early dinner. The restaurant was not busy with dine-in patrons but there was a lot of "to-go" activity. I ordered Pho and because of dietary issues they were happy to replace the noodles with bean sprouts. It was delicious and very filling.

A great spot for some Vietnamese soup to warm the soul on a rainy day. Great for families, business, or a date. You’ll enjoy this restaurant.

Had a delicious bowl of Pho with beef brisket and meatballs. I went with the super bowl which was as big as advertised. If you do go that route be ready to be stuffed!

This is a casual, homey Vietnamese restaurant in Portland's Alphabet District. It offers a wide selection of dishes, including many varieties of Pho, the Vietnamese national soup. One unusual choice was the Oxtail Pho, which we had. It was excellent. The waitstaff is welcoming and efficient.

The pho was excellent and the staff friendly. The on-site free garage parking made access a breeze. We'll be back!

Excellent Chinese Food! Don't judge a book by its cover. Outside doesn't look like much. Inside beautiful. Nice friendly waitress. But the food was the BOMB! 5 stars!

Excellent quality Vietnamese bun rice noodle bowl. This is the first time I've seen it come with la lot beef (ground beef wrapped in betel leaves) - YUM!. Very clean with a pleasant atmosphere and wait staff. We'll be back!

After spending two weeks in Vietnam, enjoying the great cuisine from street food to high end restaurants, we have talked to a lot of friends about that trip. So when some friends planned their trip, they suggested we sample a Portland Vietnamese restaurant to relive our enjoyable experiences and prepare them for their trip. We selected a relatively new, only open three months, restaurant, The Boiling Bowl, in our neighborhood. We were delighted with the service, prompt and attentive, and the diversity of the menu. We started with classic crispy fried egg rolls and they were perfectly done, filled with pork and veggies, tightly wrapped and crispy. The chicken wings likewise arrived crispy, with a tangy flavor from the garlic and carmelized fish sauce. For the mains, we had a "super" large bowl of Pho Dat Biet, the house combo with thinly sliced round steak, well done flank steak, and beef meatballs and noodles, with all the condiments: limes, jalapenos, basil and bean sprouts. We had to take some home, the portion was so large. The other main was seafood with crispy noodles. The server recommended having it with steamed soft noodles and I think it might have been even better. We had too many crispy dishes. With herbal tea and mango smoothies, however, we were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the overall cost was. On a previous visit, I had a pork banh mi, which did remind me of the street foods of Vietnam.

Delicious Pho and amazing lemongrass stir fry! Seems like a neighborhood gem just a bit off the main drag. Unpretentious but everything was delicious and the Bubble Tea was a treat! We tried another well-rated Vietnamese restaurant and then ended up coming back here for our final meal before leaving Portland because it was so delicious and friendly.

The PHO was pretty good, but the egg rolls are not good. The service here was terrible-very slow and inattentive- and the music was super loud and obnoxious. The plus to this place is the free parking, but that's about it. I would definitely go somewhere else. This was our least favorite dining experience during our five day trip to Portland.

My wife and I have eaten lunch at the Boiling Bowl about a half a dozen times. It's relatively new, so when we first went there we were not surprised that the service and quality of food were not what we had hoped they would be. Now we are really happy that we did not write this eatery off. Each trip back since that first time has been more and more positive in every way. It has become one of our favorite places to have lunch. Currently, we would say that the food is exceptionally well prepared and presented. The portions are quite generous. Our favorites include pho in a chicken broth with thinly sliced breast of chicken and vegetables. The broth is excellent. Another favorite is chicken fried rice. This dish is remarkable for the delicate manner in which it is seasoned. The service is excellent, with the staff being very friendly and accommodating. The ambiance can best be described as Asian, tinged with a cozy feel. And the music is terrific, ranging from easy jazz to Asian. For the price, this place is outstanding. Try it. We think you will like as much as we do.

Food and drink are tasty. Staffs are very welcome and friendly. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Looking for Satisfaction?!?
Satisfaction. If that what you are looking for, here is the place. I didn’t go for the must-have Pho, instead I went for grilled pork rice dish, and it was spectacular
