Hello, they dont have reservation stsyem. Since they are very famous you have to wait for 30-45 mins even weekday evening. Price for value is good. We paid 70$ for shrimp, king crab leg and chiken tender. Service is good. It was good experience

COOL CAJUN SEAFOOD!

By LarsonSG |

We waited and waited and finally decided to pack up and do take away. The place is absolutely packed! One tip though, there is a dessert store right opposite and you can do take away from BC and eat inside the store and eat provided you order a drink per person. Do check with the waiters there, they are used to it... My colleagues and i ordered snow crabs, clams and mussels and each in a different sauce. Our favorite is "Something in between", where they mixed in all 3 sauces into the bag. The clams and mussels are great but the snow crabs is somewhat lacking. Prices are not cheap though and expect to spend $35 - $50 per person if you are really looking to feast here. If you are doing take away, go back to the counter and ask if your orders are ready, they don't call out... Oh and as everyone says, be prepared to WAIT.

High quality, fresh and tasty seafood

By S D |

Great place for crab/lobster/shrimp, very informal atmosphere, things can get quite messy when you eat with your hands with all of their very tasty sauce. Can't fault the food. Downsides: wait can be very long and they are quite strict about it (no seating until all of your party are present); can get quite pricey (we had one lobster, one dungeness crab, a basket of 10 breaded shrimps + 2 soft drinks, the bill came out to $120); quite noisy inside since it's very busy. If waiting is an issue, they actually have a take-out shop right next door, which you can purchase to eat at a cafe next door. Would recommend this place on the quality of the food and the service, if you don't mind the wait to get in and if you've saved up for it!

Excellent!

By Alpha A |

Get the one with the mix of three sauces, avoid the king crab legs, I think they were cooked frozen. Get the whole crab, they are delicious! Clams are great!!!!!!!!

Great food and fun casual ambience.

By GraceSin |

We didn't have to wait long because a friend came earlier to leave her name on the waiting list. But we missed out on the crawfish which we really wanted to try as we heard it was amazing. Regardless, we ordered shrimps, crab legs, lobster, in garlic, Cajun and She-bangs sauce and fries. The food is great! The lobster was very fresh and the waiter help us to de-shell it which I would recommend you to allow her to do so because they know the best and most efficient way to de-shell. The shrimps and crab are also good but I feel that the Cajun and she-bangs sauce is too similar. Garlic sauce is not bad. Only negative thing is that seems oily. But overall still a 5 because of the lack of wait, the freshness of the food, the tastiness and the price. Definitely would recommend to come and to come back again!

Delicious crabs if you are in a casual mood

By Lifestyle Resor... P |

Simply delicious shellfish: crabs, shrimps, lobsters, crawfish (upon season), etc. We did a snow crab and a king crab order with a sip of Corona, and were happy as small children cracking them ))) Extremely casual place with no silver and no plates, but it's so cool to be in such mood sometimes! Take note: it doesn't take reservations and is always packed, so you will have to wait outside about 20 minutes to get in during the lunchtime. If you are in the mood for simple food - try it )

The best seafood, hands down

By Cyndy Z |

The best crawfish I have ever had in my life! Here you'll be ordering seafood by the pound and literally eating with your hands and given a cute bib. I would recommend this to anyone, but the line is just ridiculous. It's always at least an hour and a half.

if you value your time...

By brian l |

PROTIP - IF YOU CAN SNAG A TABLE AT THE ADJACENT CAFÉ, THEN DO SO BECAUSE THEIR POLICY IS THAT AS LONG AS EVERYONE IF YOUR PARTY BUYS A DRINK, YOU CAN BRING OUTSIDE FOOD IN. You'll thank me later by not waiting 2+ hours. Very deserving of 3 stars: Taste is the redeeming factor of this place and aside from that, the prices aren't too bad for this kind of experience. The shrimp seemed like it was never ending, however, I wasn't particularly blown away by everything in general - hence the deserving of 3 stars.

Great seafood to cheap prices

By Linnéa |

It's botchy, fresh and delicious. What's not to love? Great place to hang out with friends and have some fresh seafood at great prices. Fun Experience.

Excellent

By MonicaDee |

Brilliant food, attentive service. Rather loud and a bit of a wait for a table so be prepared but definitely worth it.

The Best!

By HeavenTheQuaintrelle |

“Was so excited to eat here simply because I love crabs! haha. First time in LA, it was close to our hotel, easy to find, we got there about an hour after it opened & it was about a 25 minute wait. We ended up only waiting for 10 or so minutes. Sat down to a very nice waitress who broke down the menu for us. Crabs, Potatoes and Corn was delicious and everything came up to less than $100 which wouldn’t have been the case at your fave crab spots in NY so that was a plus!”

The hype is real

By Patrick Y |

Get anything and everything is the whole shebang and spiciness according to your own level. Sit back and enjoy. There are many imitators in the area but, they are all pretty bad. Nothing beats this place!

Okay

By Ausjaz1234 |

Had an hour wait. Ordered crab and did not even get a pound. Left hungry. Not sure if I would go back. Server was very friendly

Long wait but we are crab fans

By Tommy P |

We were on vacation in the area and always try to find good seafood or crab places to eat. Neat location and had over an hour wait. Was a unique style. Good seasoning.

lobster is great

By 2017SGT |

we had to wait for 30-40 min in order to get tables but food is great. enjoyed the variety of seafood options and getting our hands dirty. We ordered lobster, shrimps, clams, sweetcorn and some veg fries and had a very satisfying meal!!

The food was very tasty!

By Jonny Bravo |

We went The Boiling Crab to have our brunch, had King Crab, Prawns and Corn on the Cob. The food was very tasty! Highly recommend!

Unbelievable!!

By Hany G |

I go to boiling crab every time I visit LA, and I can't get enough of it. The shrimp and the snow crab legs in the shabang sauce are amazing, and you can through a piece of corn with the shrimp, I tried couple of restaurant that serve shrimp the way broiling crab does, but no restaurant can match the boiling crab sauce. The downsides, the wait no matter what time you go is always an hour and plus. Tums or antacid is a must after boiling crab, you can see the oil floating on the top of the sauce, but what I can do, I still love it.

Good food, interesting concept

By oldtiredandretired |

After reading a few reviews we though that we would try this spot out. The food arrived fast, we had shrimp, mussels and king crab. All were cooked well This is a very messy situation as you get no cutlery and you just dump everything on the table. The restaurant should supply wet naps at the beginning of the meal not at the end. This is the least environmentally friendly restaurant you will ever visit as they don’t compost the food waste and they toss a plastic table cloth for every table served. Biggest complaint was that the bath rooms were FILTHY and didn’t have paper towels which after a greasy meal like this are absolutely a necessity. it was fun but we probably won’t head back again

The savor of California

By 1996rainier |

We always craves for it the shrimp, crabs, fresh oysters! No place could compare to their sauce on shrimp! It's more than delicious! The place is suit the food and ambiance! The price is always the same and service is great! Too bad they don't have it in the east coast! That's why if you fly to California never miss this place and I will never wait for the world! Good food at a easy pace

By Perkadventures |

Ate here for late lunch early dinner. Good menu choices for both of us, blue crabs were out but other foods available. Server was attentive and checked back frequently on how we were doing. Tried the lemon fries which were quit tasty. This is hand food for all. Try you will like it.

Best Carb EVER !

By Najjarno |

during my visit to LA I wanted to eat crab and I was searching and tried many restaurants then I found the boiling crab and I was surprised the long line waiting on the small to go restaurant but when I tried the crab and lobster I was shocked as it was the best crab and lobster I ever tried in my life so far I didn't try such a testy king crab legs

Food so good its impossible to find parking!

By ShuiTseung |

If you can walk there, the better. Parking is very hard to come by in the area. There's not a lot of sitting room in the restaurant. There's take out but its way better to eat it fresh from the pot. At peak times, there's going to be a lot of waiting but its worth the wait.

Delicious

By mohammed s |

Yummy . A sea food restaurant with a new concept. It always crowded so make sure to make a reservation . I like shrimp " yummy" also the crab . If you like sea food you most try this one .

Love it!

By Evelin _Øiestad |

Amazing food! I wish we could have somthing like this in Norway! The shrimps are the best, I think :-)

Fantastic dinner

By Samsac |

I took a Freind to this Resturant for dinner. The food was fantastic and the service was so good. It is a place that must visit when you visit LA. Well done. I wish they can open in London UK. Will come again soon

Very disappointed

By Grantwatson777 |

Had to wait over 45 minutes to be seated. The service was good but after the wait I wasn't in the mood. We had 2 pounds of crab and prawns plus the Cajun chips. They delivered the crab first for 4 people with only 2 tools for opening the crab shells, what did they expect the other 2 to do. My wife ordered the shrimp basket as didn't want to have it spicy, we were told it wasn't but it was. Price was pretty cheap for a seafood restaurant but the wait was definitely not worth it, will never go back..

Fresh and delicious!!

By Kenneth Smith |

Best seafood I’ve had in Los Angeles! Small number of seats, very casual atmosphere, total focus is on the food. We will definitely be back to go thru the entire menu.

Just like the OC originals but closer

By Nickmbishop |

I have always loved BC and the new one in Westwood (90405) is great - its bigger - it still has the wait but that is all part of the deal. Always get the King Crab legs, shrimp, sausage and Corn. Got oysters as well today - fresh and all delish. will be back. This trip advisor isnt the right address as its so new but thats ok too

Brilliant Seafood with the best Cajun seasoning I have tasted ever!

By MUK04 |

Fantastic seafood with amazing Cajun seasoning. The only issue is the wait time to get a table. You have to wait outside the restaurant for a good 30 minutes - at least in my case. Friendly staff. If you are the upmarket type of foodie and expect shining cutlery and proper manners, this is not your place. Clean paper based table covers which is removed after every meal a bagful of seafood in spicy sauce which you can dip into, tear into or do anything with your hands! Go for the snowcrab and the shrimps. Brilliant. Would definitely recommend and a great place to return.

Fresh & delicious

By Reneetravels2 |

From the time we walked in the door to the time we walked out there was a steady line of people waiting for a table. After getting my Crawfish I can tell why. I think they were better then lobster. So sweet tasting. I also got a corn on the cob & it was tasty as well. Everything comes in a plastic bag in whichever type of seasoning you ordered. Be prepared to get your fingers messy. My mom & friend both got the catfish which came with French fries. They were pleased with the taste and portion size. I got the lbs of fresh crawfish & had a few left over. You can not order less when they are the fresh crawfish. It was perfect serving. I'm not a fan of the heads, so it is kind of a waste because you only get a few big crawfish the rest are pretty small. It takes a lot of work for the small amount of meat you get. I don't know what I will try next time, but I will be back. It is a must try if you like this type of seafood. Casual atmosphere

A long wait - but worth it

By joekerr23 |

Came with the wife for dinner. Both big seafood fans so though this would be a good choice. On arrival told that would be an hour and a half wait for a table (!). To be fair it was like 8pm on a Sat night. Went around the corner to a little dive bar for a few beers while we waited. Came back about an hour or so later and they seated us. I’ve never quite had anything like this before - seafood cooked in a bag with spices and sauce. No plates. Bibs. Table covered in plastic. Sounds tacky but I enjoyed how unpretentious it was. Shows how confident they are in their food when they don’t need to mess around with fancy decor. We ordered 1lb of shrimp, 1lb of mussels and some fried shrimp too. Xxx spicy and various sauces. So much food. Probably didn’t need the other portion as couldn’t finish it all (and I’m a total animal too when it comes to eating). Genuinely spicy as well - a nice slow burn that catches up on you so by the time you are finished you can feel your head sweating. Good selection of beers too for $5 a piece (which is worth it alone!) They even had Newcastle Brown Ale which being a native Geordie (resident of Newcastle, U.K. for any Americans reading) I found entertaining. I would like to note that it’s crazy that this seems to be a trendy beer here - as in the U.K. the only people who drink it are old men and lunatics. I can even remember my mother telling me not to to drink it when I was teen, as it was the drink that rotted my Uncles brain. But I digress... Overall cost under $40 for a bucket of food, 2 beers and burning mouth. If I’m back in LA I will be back!

Good, but only if you have the time!

By HatemSamie |

The food itself wasn't bad at all. The shrimp was very good. However, we had to wait in line for approximately 2 hours. The place wasn't very clean, probably due to the non-stop flow of customers. Staff was ok, didn't smile much due to the load of work they had to do. It was an "ok" experience but not worth the 2 hours wait.

Every Time I go to LA. I eat here

By Phil C |

I love this place. If this place were a person I would kiss it. The sauce is wonderful and the seafood... the bountiful seafood. I honestly spent over $300 last time I was here just because I wanted to share it with all my cosplayer friends at AX. We went to the hotel room and just destroyed it. To get the full experience go and eat there but the wait is hella long. If you get take out you can get it quicker, but it's not the same. Man I miss this place! It's worth the wait!

Amazing food must try

By Tarek K |

Amazing seafood but the crab legs are really exceptional the best I tried ever. The only thing is the long queue to get it so try to show up a little early

Always Good

By tnkr14 |

We’re in LA said had to check out the LA Boiling Crab. We waited about 20 mins or so because they weren’t super busy yet. Friendly staff and the food always speaks for itself. Even though it’s LA prices weren’t horrible like I was expecting. With restaurants it’s always about consistency and this was based on our experiences was the same as Dallas. Stop by and check it out for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

Love it!

By Gaby L |

Everything is delicious!! King crab legs, clams, shrimps... The whole sha-bang! sauce is a must. The concept is simple but cool. Be prepared to get messy; eating with your hands and wearing a bib.

An experience, but totally not worth the money

By Dlit99 |

I am not sure why people find this so wonderful. It is definitely an experience, but one not worth the cost. Let me start off by saying it is SUPER casual. You eat everything with your hands and there are no plates or silverware. You simply eat on the table with tons of napkins. In fact, the food even comes in bags! The only saving grace is that they give you a bib (although many people could use a full body suit). Now, as many people already noted, the service is so-so. We sat down and waited at least 10 minutes for someone to come offer us drinks and explain the menu. After our food was served, our server went on "break" and I literally had to get in front of someone to stop them and finally get the check. Now, on to the food. I am not sure HOW this place only got $$. It is VERY expensive, for the most part. There are a few "cheap" fried items on the menu, but the bulk of the seafood is very expensive ($30 or more per pound). You have no say/control over the minimum amount you get. In other words, you can't simply say "I'd like a pound of crab legs." You get what you get...and plan on spending at least $35 or more per person. We were 3 people who ordered 2 bags of seafood and some fries and the bill was $85!! I guess I should have known we were in trouble (money-wise) when almost every item on the menu was marked as "Market Price." As I told my daughter, that is a nice way of saying we don't want to put the price on the menu because you would run away screaming before you walked in the door! The seafood itself was good, as was the sauce it was cooked in. However, I think they need to rethink their spicy scale. I got what was considered mild spice (not no spice) which, I was told, was on the order of the spicy Cheetos. Well, let me tell you, if spicy Cheetos were this spicy, NO ONE would touch them. The sauce literally burned my lips, mouth, and even irritated my hands. That is mild spice?! The non-seafood items in the bag, which you get to choose, were just OK, at best. As one person noted, the corn was super soggy. The sweet potato fries were quite good...but, again, since you have no plates, it is quite hard to share them with ketchup and all. I am not sure why this restaurant serves no, and I do mean NO, vegetables. There are no vegetables you can choose to put in the bag and there is not even coleslaw (a staple with seafood). When I asked about it at the front and suggested they consider adding at least coleslaw, the hostesses answer was "we offer corn!" Does she not know corn is not a vegetable? Finally, if you are going to serve food with no plates, no utensils, no nothing....I might suggest you put a LARGE role of paper towels (and perhaps a pile of wet wipes) on the table as opposed to an individual napkin dispenser!! After all, for the prices you are charging, I think you can afford some Bounty and Wet Wipes. So, personally, while it was interesting, I don't think it is that great or worth the money. I would choose a Joe's Crab Shack over this place any day! It will be interesting to see how long they last given their high prices and low service.

Prepare to get messy... with some delicious food

By JonDur57 |

There's usually a line to get in, but so what? There's a bar opposite, so sit down, have a beer, wait a while. Once you're in, be prepared for some foodie mayhem. Everything seems to come in a large plastic bag, slathered in whatever sauce you have chosen, and you have no choice but to dig in with the implements they give you, your fingers, hands and any other appendage that's available. You will need the bib. You will end up with bits of seafood everywhere. But it's tasty, good value and well worth the wait. The staff in The Boiling Crab are friendly and fun, too.

Can I give this place 7 ✨ 💫? This is one of my top spots in the🌍. I'm not even exaggerating. Be prepared to eat with your hands 🙌 and enjoy the real seafood

Different and fun experience

By Sabine A |

A different, fun and informal experience. The seafood was delicious, as was the corn. The attendant was very friendly and suggested the most requested sauce, which mixes everyone and was very good.

No silverware, yes hands

By Yasarlev |

You will experience to eat the crabs, shrimps and lobster by hands accompanied with a delicious sauce. Prices are quite acceptable. This should be experienced , at least once in a lifetime.

BEST SEAFOOD AND it's worth the wait

By c0lleen711 |

I love going to eat at Boiling Crab but I absolutely hate the wait, but it is so worth it! The whole shabang is SOOOOOOOOOO good! I can handle spicy and I'm surprised because medium spicy and my mouth was a bit on fire. I love getting shrimp, clams, with the whole shabang and corn in the bag, and the fries! I'm drooling just thinking about it. Definitely get there early especially for dinner and lunch because you'll wait about 2 hours. If you get there at 8 pm don't expect to even get in. Service is good, atmosphere is good. Your hands will smell like garlic for a few days even with heavy scrubbing and soap and they give you a bib so you don't get splatters of sauce on your clothes so I still suggest you wear dark colors. If you don't feel like waiting, we noticed people doing take out at Boiling Crab to Go which is right across from the main restaurant, and people bringing their food to this one restaurant next door. At this restaurant you can eat boiling crab and all you have to do is order a drink from them. Beats waiting at least 2 hours. Love eating at all the Boiling Crabs, top 5 favorite restaurants of all time!!!

Worth The Wait

By Wini R |

We had to wait for +/- 1 hr to get in, but tell you, it was worth the wait! We're a group of 3 and we had one of the most scrumptious seafood dinner ever in our life. Started with fresh oyster, move to lobster, crabs and clams, and closed with cajun shrimp! Delish! I still think about this place even until now...

Great Restaurant

By Akasmaa5 |

Had a wonderful experience here! The seafood tasted really good. Just take care that the food is really spicy! Even the mild one

Phenomenal

By Sierrita |

This is a special place to be kids again Haha. Just kidding. But you have to eat with your hands. And the place is like the old times in Louisiana for the Mardi gras. The boling is just like sea food for your hands and it would be memorable. My lovely friend really enjoyed it and loved the flavor, the service, and the great idea. This is a fantastic place to come again. We taste a shrimp special and tostones and white rice. For the drink we had beers. Full recommended. It was fun and unique.

My favorite restaurant in LA !

By Jisu K |

You must have shrimps, corns, and sausage with the whole shabang. If you enjoy spicy food, try MED, not XXX. After enjoying all seafood, have rice with the whole shabang sauce. I highly recommend the Boiling Crab if you are seafood lover.

Poor service and no help for first timers

By Debbie J |

As first timers to this restaurant, we didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly greeted by a young man, who proceeded to tear off a length of butcher paper and guide us to our table toward the back. It was rather noisy and we had a hard time understanding what he was trying to explain about the menu and how to order. Finally, we each decided on different items to try. I had the fried shrimp & cajun fries. The shrimp was just passed by a fryer and was not de-veined. An immediate turnoff for me. Another had soft shelled crab & regular fries, which she said was fair. Another had a pound of shrimp cajun style with three potatoes (priced separately). It came in a plastic bag all mixed together. The pound of shrimp came complete with head and shell, along with the veins. You are expected to eat all food items without utensils. They give you a canister of napkins and then come back with lime slices which they dump out of a bucket onto your table. I've always wanted to have a seafood boil but this wasn't it. I can tell the regulars love it but the messiness of dipping hands into plastic bags and then peeling and de-veining your own meal is off-putting. The menu doesn't tell you the price of some items, like the crab, and our less-than-efficient server didn't offer to tell us. After she brought our limes, she disappeared and we never saw her again. Someone else brought out meals. We got no refills on drinks from anyone and finally had to ask another server if he could find our server in order to get our check. He very kindly got our check and apologized. The plastic bags didn't phase us as most of the other diners had them. It was the poor service and veined shrimp that we won't order again.

I am still hungey

Not even enough food for money spent. Waiter staff is just horrible. Food delivery is 10 minutes between my meal and husband. No lemon Food presentation is unbelievably bad Very noisy Go somewhere else

Freshest and tastiest seafood in Los Angeles

By Cris C |

We waited for an hour before we finally got a table, but the wait is well worth it! We had the tastiest and sweetest prawns, mussels and crab legs! The sauce is to die for! Service is excellent!

Fresh Oysters says it all

#LAFoodcrawl HITS: Cajun-inspired Shrimps and crabs Eat with you hands, disposable hand gloves and bibs will be served along with your food ORDER THE FRESH OYSTERS, PERIOD MISS: Line can be as bad as 30 minutes or more. Arrive earlier and wait for your turn. It's worth the wait.

Worth the trouble.

By John S |

It's is always pretty crowded and there is usually a wait to be seated but it is worth it. A great fun atmosphere with fantastic food.

Seriously amazing King Crab

By NancyA5 |

Great family night meal - we did the mild spice on the shrimp. It was fun to crack them open! But the King Crab was out of this world. Tender and sweet. Don’t wear white! It’s messy and wonderful.

One expensive mess.

By Marc M |

There is a touch of the Creole authenticity that not everyone is expecting or wanting, unless getting a plastic bag full of unpeeled shrimp that you dump out on the table, shuck, and eat with your hands seems fun to you. Not to me. It's messy (especially because it's drowning in sauce) and not particularly worth the effort. If I were at a beachside clambake or out on some pier I might get with the vibe, but not at a sit-down restaurant. And considering the very high price of the meals, you'd think they'd give you more than paper plates and plastic utensils.

Shrimp heaven

By Joseph S |

My family and I went to the boiling crab recently, and I it was amazing!. The crawfish was the best part. My favorite part is when they give your food In a bag filled with spices because the flavor sinks in. All in one, the experience at Th Boiling Crab was EPIC.

Great seafood, Cajun style

By Grant L |

Rambunctious place every night of the week made me decide to go for take-out. They give you a bag with all the good stuff on top. It's oily, spicy and filled with goodness. If you're not good with spicy food, you're already going to find the least mild seasoning hot to begin with. For take out, definitely ask for bibs and a table cloth. For orders that have different seasonings, remember to tell them to separate the two flavors or you'll get them all mixed together. Great value, great food, and a fun place.

Come here for the experience and the food

By jennifer s |

Super popular place, long queues especially on weekends so plan ahead. The experience is what makes this place, and the food is just as great. tasty crab claws with excellent butter cajun sauce as spicy as you like served with corn, potatoes, gumbo. Oh and expect things to get messy.

Not great

By Stay42177642725 |

Service was awful, the server forgot to change our drink and kept forgetting our request for takeaway boxes. We asked about 10 time. Food was average at best was expensive for what we got.

Not A Seafood Person But...

By Si M |

This place was crowded to beyond packed with absolutely no chance for hours of getting a seat. We chose our food to go and we wished the hours were longer so they didn't close so early- maybe we would have waited to be seated! The food ok only OK to ME, but let me say that rep-wise, others who are true seafood afficionados swear by this place. So since I didn't immediately spit out the crawfish I must say it MUST be good because this is the first time I've ever SEEN crawfish, much less eaten it, that was in any way appetizing whatsoever. Altogether this place in an LA Institution. You've got to try it! If a real seafood hater like me can eat my fill of it's fare, then if you love seafood you'll be in heaven. But CALL AHEAD FOR RESERVATIONS because otherwise you're dreaming if you think you'll be eating IN!

Love it

By Cahill45 |

We come here often. It’s a fun place and they do great prawns and crab. Staff are happy to help with special requests and offer recommendations. It’s messy but all part of the charm.

Superb Service

By danity50 |

What an enjoyable experience I had at the Boiling Crab. The food was so good and prompt. We had 3 Ibs of crawfish, and the shrimp basket!! It was Devine. Everyone was friendly. Five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Taste of the food has greatly declined.

By AdiahaTraveler |

I am a Boiling Crab FINATIC. The first time I came to the place I fell in love and got all of my friends hooked as well. However, this taste of the food at this particular location is going down the drain each visit. The Shebang sauce in particular needs a tweak. It wasn't always bad and at one point I had no problems whatsoever but now just that has me driving an extra half an hour to a farther location. It could be that they put too much oil which takes all of the flavor away or that the cook is guessing the recipe but that should be fixed asap. Just to make sure Im not crazy I did go to other locations and their shabang sauce is still on point. The one at this location is oily, lacking flavor, and lacks the ability to actually coat and flavor the things they soak in it. Will continue avoiding this location for a while.

Delicious shrimps

Fantastic food, lousy booze

By vlad s |

Great place with lots of students from nearby uni (pocket money gets better these day) and many Asians who are used to raw sea food. Food is very good and reasonably priced but serving wine (acceptable) in plastic cup is beyond comment.

Great experience

By Georgia R |

We had the boiled prawns in mixed sauce and some fries between the two of us. It was a bit expensive for what we received but I can see the experience ended up being about $40 plus tip. The food was done nicely and was full of flavour so can’t fault that in anyway. Service was alright.

Authentic

By Navigator828459 |

Location is important; I have visited 4 diferente locations and service, food quality and taste varies depending on location. To me the best one is in Garden Grove, on Brookhurst Blvd. Best food, best service. Loooooonnnng lines, but it’s worth

Good Food

By Creekrobber |

The seafood was good and the beer cold. I ordered two lbs of Cajun shrimp. It is not the cleanest place but what you'd expect at a place where everyone is eating a seafood boil.

Messy hands

By nmontesa877 |

Make sure you wash your hands before eating because no utensils in the world would prevent you from using your hands to eat here. And what a delight when the server ties a bib around your neck and he lays a plastic cloth on the table. You realize this is a place to eat not dine. Great experience and wish something like this is close by in the East Coast.

Boiling Crab in Koreatown, LA

Went to the Boiling Crab for lunch, had King Crab, Prawns and Corn on the Cob. Highly recommend the Prawns, were fresh an delicious, loads of meat! The King Crab is a must have, large portion with loads of meat, easy to crack Simple and very helpful service (showed us the right way to crack the crab)

I tried it once, and I wish they open branches in the middle east! Such a great experience with food and hammers! The menu is full of Seafood dishes with a variety of souses. you must reserve, and you will have to wait until your table is ready. but! it is so WORTH IT!

❤ Boiling Crab 🦀 It has been a long time visiting here. Always like shrimp 🍤 corn 🌽 clams and butter sauce.

You wait & then terrible stuff happens

By EdM330 |

This place takes no reservations so you may wait an hour on the sidewalk. Once in, it's noisy and your table is cramped and covered with butcher paper. We ordered fresh Gulf oysters on the half shell. They were tasteless, quite a feat unless they had been refrigerated for a week. Our king crab legs, and all the others orders for our table, came in a big plastic bag with melted butter at the bottom. We got a plastic crab tool and plastic fork. The crab tasted like freezer burn. Getting someone to come back to your table, e.g., "I need horseradish," was an ordeal. I can think of nothing to recommend this place. Ugh!

Another win

By deadpool |

Glad they are expanding....now get in the valley. This place is just as good as the one in SGV and Westminster/Garden Grove. Really, enjoyed it.

Seafood feast

By MikeAlen |

Great seafood joint. Be ready to eat with your hands and get messy. My boyfriend did not like it as much because of this: not to many options of what you can eat without using you hands. Cool place to get together with company. Nice selection of seafood: shell fish, crabs, etc. Very engaging experience, but gets pricey should you decide to indulge.

Lunch Visit

By Andrea P |

This was my first time trying Boiling Crab, and I Loved it. I had the Catfish basket, and everything was y u m m y... can't wait to go back. Only thing I hate, is that they don't open until 3pm. But other than that, they are great. Good food, and I'd recommend to anyone.

Reasonable but very expensive for what it delivers

By Romulo D |

Restaurant with a different theme, with very good service, the negative thing I had was the value in relation to what was delivered. The cost benefit is not worth it

LA Seafood

By francisjulian |

If you're looking for a great seafood experience in the USA, then Boiling Crab it is. Restaurant is always full, (we we're there at past 7 pm) so we have to wait for about 30 minutes. But the wait was all worth it. Yummmmmiest place for crabs!

Everything was good but the wait time

By comento123 |

Stopped for the first time to have some shrimp and crab. Was passing through town and decided to stop and try it out. When we checked in they told us it was a 1:40 minute wait time to check back in about 40 minutes. Check in for the second time and told us it would be about another 40 minutes. Lots of customers waiting out side not enough sitting or shade out side. Lots of customers got bread from the bakery next door. I got one and it was freshly made and was supper good to dip in the sauce! Make sure to get your French bread if you dine in. You don't get any bread of chips to munch on. You get the food in a plastic bag the tables are line with paper and they put a bib on you it gets very messy, this is a fun restaurant to take the kids and make a mess! Just make sure not to wear white. 😃 will dine here only if I'm town to far for us to drive just to eat here. And I will bring my own chair to sit out side. Other than the wait time, my kids loved it we had fun. Great place to eat so if you are in town make sure to stop here and have some crab! There's also lots of televisions on the walls.

The closest thing to Louisiana since I've left. I haven't tried very many crawfish or boiled seafood places since cali because the ones I have tried were bland. We first tried the fried shrimp from a long beach/ OC boiling crab and found it to be pretty good. But since moving to LA, we've graduated to the boiled shrimp which is great and I even think the fried shrimp taste better. It's like one of my favorite places now... reminds me of home. I will have to try a few more menu items but I really love the place. And of course some of the best places in New Orleans, ie: acme, the old coffee pot and port of calls all have long lines! I wouldn't expect anything less for great Cajun food.

Fantastic

By Meander298734 |

The wait at 8:00pm on a Sunday was 35min!! It was worth every second. Once sat we ordered our boils by the pound, shrimp, clams and crawfish. Chose our sauces and waited. When the orders arrived in the plastic bags. For each I can only say Wow!! So simple as a business yet so good. I wish we had this in Portland!

Delicious food. Be prepared for a long wait on weekends

By Nr H |

Delicious food. Acceptable price. Be prepared to get your hands dirty. A wonderful place for family and friends. However the place can be packed on weekends.

Wow!

By cln475 |

My kids wanted seafood on our trip to Los Angeles. We travelled from Missouri to Vegas and they took a few days to go to LA. We were NOT disappointed. The restaurant is not fancy. No plates. A sheet over the table. Seafood by the pound is served in a bag with spices. But, your table will be quiet when your food arrives. It is DELICIOUS!

A Good Sea Food Experience

By DeadlyDD |

You have queue up for this restaurant. We put our name on the waiting list and was told to return in 20 minutes. The trouble is, there is nothing around this part of LA to look at in 20 minutes. There is a nearby bar but it did not appeal to me. So I looked at the other restaurants through their windows and generally mooched around. When you get inside The Boiling Crab you are hit by large TV displays showing sports and a large seating area. There are lots of families and a few groups which tend to be quite loud. I guess they were showing their appreciation of the food. Everyone looks happy to be there. I have to say, this does not look like my kind of place but the food changed my mind. It is delicious! I will come again. Each table is protected with a covering for what is to come. The seafood and it's sauces make a real mess. The shells from the crab and prawns go everywhere! The seafood is fresh and top quality. The crab legs are mega-tasty. It is not "fine dining", but it tastes just as good.

Great Chow!

By Jim A |

This was the second time we visited the Boiling Crab, it was great. Recommend bringing a black sharpie or some cool stickers to leave your mark on the walls. The food is incredible, the service is fast, and the price is reasonable. Highly recommended if you like large crab legs, boiled potatoes and corn. I got some of the hot wings this time as well - they were great.

Such a long wait but tasty food

By lyssa83 |

Me and my husband went here for lunch one day . We came at 3pm and it was still so busy and the wait took so long . About an hour and half . They really need to expand into a bigger space . When we finally were seated our waitress was amazing ! She was very helpful in suggesting what to get . We got the shrimp , crawfish , crab legs , side of corn which I got mine in the extra hot sauce extra saucy so I could just dip my seafood into it without it being too over whelming . We then got all our seafood in the non spicy shabam sauce I think it was called . We also got rice on the side and I liked using the lime dip for my seafood . Everything we ate was so tasty, we loved it. First time having crawfish and it's a lot of work for something so small but still good , they need more bathrooms too such a long wait but overall great food and a great time.

Good home style food

By Gavstar88 |

My first night in LA was spent at this restaurant, 30 minute wait on a Tuesday night was a good sign for me. Very busy restaurant and smells awesome in there. Food was served quick, fresh, hot and tasty. Worth a trip if you enjoy your seafood :)

Great food, cool experience

By Jay |

My friends and I went to the boiling crab for dinner on a weeknight and it was still surprisingly busy. You have to wait outside on the street for a table to open up, but the food was well worth it. When ordering seafood customers have the option to pick a flavor and level of spiciness (I went with the non-spicy King Crab Legs Rajun Cajun flavor). After some waiting, the food is served in a plastic bag and the shells are discarded on the table. This can get very messy, and you will need lots of napkins and wipes. The food is very tasty and cracking open shells and getting messy makes it more fun. I would recommend this place specifically because of that as well as the excellent food.

Great!

By perkinsshanika |

The food was great at this location - the only suggestion I have is to give more sauce. The locations in Northern California may have spoiled us, but the sauce was very limited in SoCal. Food was still great!

Crab is awesome!

By kisssmee |

Gotta love Boiling Crab, but you hate the wait. I know, it's all a part of the experience. I got the shrimp of course in the whole sha bang in mild. I really do enjoy the medium, but man after a while they get to you. Cajun fries are also a must here. However, I would love to try the crab here. Sadly, they were out of it. Next time here, I am ordering to go!

Long wait, messy eats, awesome!

By heWhoIsAlwaysHungry |

As others have said, the wait here was/is crazy. We ended up waiting about 2 hours to be seated. After finally being called into the restaurant, we proceeded to order a pound of shrimp, a pound of king crab, a pound of mussels and an order of lemon pepper fries. Yes, we were hungry before the 2 hour wait. At this point we were ready to eat! Hit up the restroom and make sure you wash your hands: now's the time to put your Boiling Crab bib on and get ready to get messy. The seafood came in bags and was simply delicious! Peel, dip it in the sauce, eat, repeat. Go ahead, lick your fingers. Can you tell I loved this place? It has been about 11 months since our visit and the flavors are still fresh in my mind. Don't miss out! Make sure to get there early.

Unique Seafood Experience

By Nicole |

Enjoyed a fun and unique seafood experience here. Basically you order your seafood of choice by the pound, any add ins, and choose your seasoning. It comes out in a bag and then you peel and eat. We order shrimp and clams with corn and sausage. The seafood was delicious. Even on a weeknight it was very busy so be prepared for a bit of a wait.

McEnroe way to eat seafood

By Nyphoon966 |

My first time after 1000000 recommendations from my friends ... The food is great and tasty... The place is ok not waaaw but it is just fine. Tables are comfortable and a bit close to each other ... Might loss privacy unless you sit in the booth around the sidewall They need to put more than washing room for the customer as everyone eat with the hands ... Prices are fine The King crab legs are waaaaaaw and also the shrimp ... Order it mild Enjoy it guys

good food ,good service ,goodatmosphere

By Aaron W |

I went on a weekday and there was no wait, the service was good, the food was good,I had king crab and shrimp I cant remember what kind of sauce I had but I remember it very good ,I had shrimp left over and they where even better the second day,I cant wait to go back to the boiling crab the next time I'm in L.A.

Great tasting food

By Gabriel A |

Me and my girlfriend decided to go this restaurant for a date. We were greeted by very enthusiastic waiters and the service they provided was brilliant. The food was tasty. The only downside was the amenities eating with hands which i dont mind but they need to provide a way to wash your hands before you eat. You go toilet wash your hands and then figure a way to get out without touching the door handle which is annoying. Also wet wipes do nothing for you once you have finished your meal another way to get your hands clean would be nice. Apart from this a wonderful place to eat and go on a date night things can get really romantic when you have to feed each other.

Very good food

By Jose B |

Their crabs are the best, nothing like I've tried before. The different kinds of sauces are all excellent. For first timers like me and my wife, I wouldn't advise to try the spiciest sauce right away. You have to ease yourself into it, but after a while, it's very good! The service is likewise very good, the staff and servers are all very friendly and hospitable. The only drawback is the waiting time, and they are only open up to 10 PM. It took as a while to get into the restaurant, about 2 hrs waiting time on a Friday night. If you have time to kill and did not go there really hungry, it's worth the wait and the experience. And go there early!

King crab

By David V |

We arrived early on a weeknight to avoid the line. We ordered shrimp and king crab. What an experience! Next time in L.A. I'm definitely going back!

Great Seafood

By Charles S |

This is my second or third visit to this place and it does not disappoint. There is plenty of food to go around and we always seem to order more than necessary. The fried shrimp and the fried oysters would be sufficient but the king crab legs, the lobster and the rock crabs sing their siren song to eat them also. Only problem is no reservations taken and it can get pretty crowded so go early.

First time, hopefully not last

By Eglė J |

We are not living in USA so once I found this restaurant on TripAdvisor it was definitely a place I wanted to visit and it didn’t disappoint us. The service was nice and quick and food was TOP! I like that it’s not one of those places where you sit with a fancy clothes and eat with cutlery haha.

Best seafood experience in Los Angeles!

By D.P. |

I can jokingly say Boiling Crab would be my last meal if I was on death row. The death row part is the joke but Boiling Crab part is real! This place is like no other from the food to the experience. First of all if you are anything like me, I hate getting my hands dirty specially while eating. I love that this place got me to experience eating with my hands and get out of my comfort zone. So far every person I have introduced to this place has loved the food and the vibes. It's a fun place to come for a fun date night or with a big group, they accommodate everyone! Now let's talk about the food! I usually order the same thing. Shrimp, whole shabang medium. An order of cajun fries medium as well. A corn on the cob on the side with butter. And occasionally we order a dozen of oysters, they are worth it! I have also tried the lobster, the king crab legs and the crab but my favorites are always the same, shrimp, fries and corn. I love that you get to pick your spice level depending on my mood. The flavor is consistent and I always leave happy. On the flip side there is a couple of things that have changed. The prices have gone up since I started going a couple years ago. Price went up from $9 to $13 a pound of shrimp and the whole shabang spices/juice got a little lighter. By lighter I mean the sauce has less garlic than before and much less juice in the bag but still delicious don't get me wrong! I just loved having tons of garlic in the buttery deliciousness to dip my shrimp in. Also, don't come starving since you will wait an average of 45 to an hour to enjoy your seafood. I don't really mind since we always go across the restaurant to have a drink or around the corner. Time yourself to check back in, they're usually pretty accurate and if they skip you it's ok you will just be next when you check back in. Overall I recommend to all seafood lovers!!!

Worth the wait

By Travelfather59 |

My daughter asked me to try this place out during my recent trip to Los Angeles. I went with some friends and we were told the waiting time was about 90 minutes. My friends were not willing to wait so we ate elsewhere. I returned the following day..alone and early. was a nice try as I was told that there was 2 hour waiting list. I decided I was not going back without trying this place. I tried the King Crab legs with their Whole Shangbang sauce ..medium spicy. The crabs were fresh, juicy and delicious...simply out of this world and worth the wait.

So worth the wait!

By supercoder77 |

Hour and 10 minute wait, BUT- service/server/food- EXCELLENT! Casual atmosphere. They dump it on the table and you dig in and enjoy!

Fast food

By Chris M |

Seafood options that co.e quickly, pretty good food. A little pricey but satisfying. The staff works fast to get you served.

Don't go!

By J S |

Don't go. If you aren't hungry and wish to get a big bill, than this may be your place. Unfortunately, I was hungry and was okay with being a big bill. That did NOT happen. My bill, for just me, was $49.34 and I was starving when I left. This place is a pass for me.

It's OK to be messy!

By Initrah |

It was our first time there and we didn't know what to expect. So we ordered as per normal and when the food came, everything was laid on the table and it was a great experience and for once, table manners are not needed here. :) Food was scrumptious. Loved the experience there.

Cant wait to go again

By BasketballMom2019 |

Very nice establishment Good location The food was to die for My family and I will definately be visiting again when we go to LA

The food is ok, but the volume of plastic - what a disgrace

By Rukstar |

This is one of those gimmicky eating places that people go to and rave about. We ordered three varieties of crab and two shrimp. They all tasted the same, as if the shrimp and crab had been pre-boiled and then mixed with the same sauce. Eating off the table cloth may appeal to some people.... What appalled me the most was the huge amount of plastic used by this restaurant - all of which no doubt will choke our ocean life in the near future. The tablecloths are plastic, the food is served in clear plastic bags and drinks are served in plastic cups with plastic straws. Everything is 'disposable' and plastic.

Boiling Crab is my FAVORITE restaurant in The USA

By chanyanats |

It is true and i'm not over reacting. Even if we also have this kind of food ( like seafood mix with sauce in bag ) in Thailand. ( or I also try this in New York ) but I love Boiling Crab the most! I went there on my last 2014 summer and when I knew that I had a chance to go back to LA I was like oh no I have to go there to the Boiling Crab and i'm counting down everyday for this. ( is it too much? haha ) I love clam and shrimp in Cajun blend. And the oyster is good too :)

Unique Experience

By Louie antonio L |

Went here with friends. They have eaten in other boiling crab locations. But for me this is the first time. I love the experience. I am Filipino so I love eating by hand which Boiling Crab encourages. Downside is they use powder to mix in the product which somehow make the taste uneven and unnatural. But the hotness and the spiciness of the food was great.

Amazing seafood boil

By Journeys of Two by Four and Reekapeeka |

There is much to say the food is amazing. I had the snow crab and clams in the extra hot boil. My wife had snow crab and shrimp’s in the medium boil and my uncle had the lobster in the medium boiled. Everything was amazing we have no complaints and we are looking for another one in the local area.

Amazing!!! Best restaurant in LA!

By LJBanny |

My partner and I absolutely LOVED this place. We are both from the UK and have never been to anywhere like this. Our waiter Brian was extremely friendly and helpful. He recommended popular items and talked us through the menu. As a massive seafood lover, I ordered the 1lb of shrimp which was around $13 and snow crab legs which was about €18. Both were absolutely incredible. Super fresh and tasted amazing in their mixed spice sauce. Prepare to get messy - everyone does! I really enjoyed tucking into the shrimp; you get a lot for your money; there’s no wonder why they are the most popular item on the menu! My partner (who doesn’t eat seafood) ordered the chicken tenders & fries basket with a side of chicken wings. She said they were the best wings she had ever tasted. The fries were crispy and came with a choice of two seasonings. She was very happy! Best place we visited! Always a queue (says it all really). We arrived at 3pm when it opened. Had to wait 15mins but it was totally worth it.

The shrimps here are amazing!! Very tasty and fresh and the seafood is one of the best. I definitely would come back again next time I'm in LA!

Great Food, Extremely long wait

By skillcutz |

All the reviews are on point for this place. We showed up a bit later, closer to 9pm. We were put on the "non-guaranteed" list for a table. After about 30 minutes and seeing that there were still about 8 families ahead of us we decided to do take out. This is ordered at a different window. We ordered our food there and were told another 30 minutes. That was correct timing. The food was great, the seasoning spectacular. The only thing I didn't like was the sweet potatoe fries. Not worth the $4.00! We ordered the whole Shebang seasoning. All in all, great meal. Very messy.

Great seafood!

By @chatmoiselle |

The place was packed when I arrived with my cousin. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table but it was worth the wait. The staff drape you in white aprons and cover the table before bringing your meal so you eat with your hands. The seafood was great too and not too pricey. Totally worth the hype

Bibs are Underrated

By SamplePlatter |

Westwood location: It started out with one and before we knew it, the signature red crab insignia would come to command eager bustling hungry crowds all over town. The Westwood location can be bit tricky with parking, but there is a $5 all-day parking garage with the Hammer Museum or if you want to get savvy, you can park in Target and get validation (with a contribution to their place of business of course...). Now that we have logistics out of the way, let's focus on the nitty gritty, down and dirty, bib wearing details. I've been here plenty of times and usually stick to the whole sha-bang but this time around had the belly burstin' opportunity to try quite a bit of their menu. The fried catfish takes the cake with its crispy, moist, flaky-goodness. Take it for a dip in the tartar sauce, made in-house and achieves the perfect balance of light and creaminess. Tie it all together with a squeeze of citrus. Now I know the next one doesn't exactly fall in line with what they're known for, but their cajun dry-rub wings deserve a shout-out. Bathed in a multitude of spices then fried to a beloved crunch, the exterior offers that perfect bite we all hope our wings to be and as you sink your teeth deeper, the succulent aroma fills your mouth. Be warned, these wings pack a stealthy fieriness and you'll be chugging that pitcher faster than you can say YOLO. Whatever you do, DO NOT forget the corn with your sha-bang. Remember to re-dip that bad boy with every bite. Double-dipper phobics, sorry, all considerations go out the window for you here. And guys, let's NOT leave those shrimp and crawfish noggins left unsucked. Fellow condiment whores, order a side or sides of the spicy, peppery, sweet, savory, tabasco (and other things) concoction that comprises their secret GC Sauce. Not for the faint of heart. Bib up. Tonight we feast.

Must've been a bad day

By Greg U |

I only ate food from this location once, but it was disgusting. We ordered shrimp, mussels, and crayfish to go. When we got home and began eating we were utterly shocked. The sauce consisted of way too much oil and tasted old. I know this couldn't be the norm, otherwise they would be out of business, but it was too late too complain. I'll just stick with Hot n' Juicy.

Worth the wait!

By apocalv |

Long wait - about 1 hour and a bit but the prawns and corn was absolutely amazing!!! So full of flavour and very friendly service, Everybody had a smile on their face in the restaurant!!!

Average Food

By Zainudin-Abd-Rahman |

Every branch got long line at least 1 hour of waiting. Food is good but not to my taste bud. Overall for first time visit is ok but to return again will give a miss

Disappointing!

By Rica Y |

1 word disappointing! I am a very huge fan of hot'n'juicy and I've heard great things about the boiling crab. So I went with a positive attitude and an empty stomach, the customer service was great but that's about it. I ordered the shrimp, it was almost cold when I received it. It was an oily unflavorful disappointment, I DO NOT recommend this place. I'm hoping it was just the location but for now I'll stick to what I know hot'n'juicy! I've been to almost all of the locations they have an have never not been able to enjoy my food because of the taste!

Too salty

By Satraveler318 |

I was really excited about visiting this place due to all the reviews. However, maybe I am a picky eater and tend for healthier options but everthing was overly salty: shrimp, mussels, clams, dungeon crab, softshell crab (yes, we ordered all that). I feel everything on its own without all those spices would have been way better for me as the shrimp and crab meat had a nice sweet flavor under the shell. This is just my opinion... other people with me seemed to enjoy it more than I did and others said they wouldn't come back. It is a fun eating experience though as you get to use your hands and dirty them up!

Enjoyable

By Dawood Al-Jarrah |

I like the concept where the food is thrown in plastic bags in front of you and you grab it out. We ordered shrimps, crabs and mussels. I have to admit that the spicy marination was super perfect! It will make end up with a crab massacre in the table :). On each kind of food there is a half portion and full portion. The restaurant was crowded and busy. Staff was friendly though. The price was a bit high but it worth it.

Fantastic

By Phil C |

Make sure you get there early, there were queues around the block when we got there at 7pm... It's well worth the wait though. Brilliant for families and for groups of friends, grab a bib and get stuck into the crab legs or shrimp, make as much mess as you like. If you get a booth seat, try and make sure you write your name on the wall!

Delicious seafood!

By Amy |

Came here with a bunch of friends and it did not disappoint! The seafood was fresh and delicious. Our server was amazing but couldn’t remember her name. We all left with full bellies and wished there was a boiling crab in London

WOW! Be prepared to wait...but well worth it.

By kjNBYPT |

WOW! Be prepared to wait but well worth it. Went with 3 college students who though it was the BOMB! Obviously a fish only place. Pick your fish (we had king crab and shrimp) pick your spice and heat. Sides include cajun fries, corn, rice etc. Brought to your paper cloth table in a bag.. Don't forget the bib! Simply yummy.

certainly NOT cajun

By Traci G |

everything taste the same, they claimed they ran out of fresh crawfish and only had frozen. they had NO CLUE that raw oysters are to be served with Saltine crackers and lemon, much less cocktail sauce. Seriously, dont call yourself cajun and then present this mess! they wouldnt survive one week in Louisiana!

Great seafood

By TommyT15 |

Seafood was great but the waiting list was super long.Fresh seafood and lovely staff. Worth it to wait for hours!

Cajun Rocks!!

By Paul L |

Was only a short wait to get at table at Boiling Crab in Ktown and it was so worth it! Good service, we ordered a bit of everything since we didn't know when we would have the chance to eat cajun seafood again. Loved the experience eating off the table, seafood served from plastic bags full of mouth watering seafood, sausage and corn. Also got some fried catfish We love it hot and sauce was great with awesome heat, just couldn't get enough of it kept double dipping everything in it. Be warned it gets messy!! Can't wait to go back.

Just awful!!!

By Raymond M |

What a complete waste of a Friday evening. First, a half hour wait for a table; followed by six of us being crammed into a booth designed for four. Then a paltry and overpriced market menu for various crab amounts for which the wait staff could not account. After only a short wait, plastic bags of crab parts appear in a butter solution to be dismantled by the diners. The "fresh" oysters on the half shell were not and were tasteless. Stay away from this place!

Unique and exquisite eating place

By Yathiender S |

The crab leg and prawns are priced based on weight and served with rice. The crab leg is spicy and tasty. we need to eat with our hands and provided with tool for cracking the crab shell. Outstanding experience.

Cool place, Spicy food

By MCH |

We knew they don’t take reservations and the line would be long no matter what day of the week. We went at 5pm to enjoy the “senior dinner time” and still had to wait for 45 mins. We had Dungeness crab, crawfish, clams, shrimp, corn on the cob, sweet potato fries and Cajun fries. All very tasty but expect to be thirsty the rest of the night. The place was hip and fun, would definitely recommend it for a special occasion or when you have a spicy seafood craving.

Awesome

By rgeulen |

I tried boiling crab at Vegas and wanted it again. Took Uber to get here and waited an hour to get a seat. Worth the wait!!! The food was awesome. Get the shrimp with she bang with corn and potato and you will love it. So worth it.

One of my favorite restaurants!

By Vincent Blackwood |

One of my favorite restaurants! I always get King crab legs, shrimp, and corn on the cob with the whole shi-bang sauce. I usually get mild because it still has a spice kick to it. I also love getting their sweet potato fries! Fantastic service! The only thing is that there's ALWAYS a long wait. However, it's worth the wait!

Seafood and fresh oysters

By review guru |

A restaurant for sea food lovers. It is very unique because we ordered shrimp and it was served in a plastic bag soaked with the sauces we requested. We tried different sauces ranging from mild to hot, liked the garlic one the best. Had fresh oysters as well. Table can get a bit messy as the food is not served in a traditional manner, but as long as you are enjoying the experience, it should not be a problem :-)

Absolutely Delicious

Good seafood. To eat without cutlery

Holiday in Los Angeles

By Renato V |

Near the center, you enter the room where luxury does not prevail but the Cabin that tastes of flavors and things to discover, the service for us Italians, Romans in particular, remembers that of the fraschette of other times with the paper on the table and without cutlery and plates .. shellfish, crab and molluscs of course, the typical 'of the place .Orders by type and quantity 'and after protecting you with gloves and plastic bib, they dump you on the table what you ordered in bags from which come out incredible smells of spice, garlic and spicy sauce that does not cover the food cooked, all very pleasant. Great food, mussels, shrimp and crab delicious. Quiet prices, however, we drank only water to put out the fire that was unleashed in the mouth. Experience for those who happen to be around here definitely to do

I am a huge seafood lover, so I must admit that I will be returning to this place very soon for dinner with my friends!

Best seafood on earth!!

You must try if you like seafood

This restaurant offers awesome food in very good portions. The shrimps were amazing, the mussels were good, and the catfish basket was very good. The service is very friendly. I highly recommend this place

Our Day with Daddy Cool

By anneten10 |

The food is really really good. Though we are told of 30-45 minutes, it's worth the wait. The calamari, shrimp, fried catfish and crab was good. And my Dad enjoyed the fresh oysters. The prices, I will say just good also because it is market price. When we came we saw notes that they are making renovations, hopefully to make the place bigger so waiting time will be minimal. My brother told me when they first time going they waited for almost 2hrs, go thing that didn't happened when we came because we have our Daddy who is 77years old and waiting for him will be very difficult. In their website, they indicated that they accepts reservations but when I called they is none. Hope this will help - food & prices good, the one who served us is a nice person. So hope all of them working in the place are nice also.

Best Seafood Restau in LA

My husband and my brother took me here on my birthday. Food is great. Service is superb! The place is pretty busy. We will come back again this week! Totally recommended!

Great flavors

By Diane W |

The food here is really good! Great flavors! I love spicy, but glad I only ordered medium heat! Can't imagine if I'd gotten hotter. NOT a good place for a first date! There's a reason you're given a bib & plastic table cover at the door! You're no longer cute with hot sauce under every fingernail & all over your hands & arms! White is probably not a good idea to wear either?

The Best Seafood Experience

By PASKY2015 |

Went for a short visit in LA and my brother brought us here for dinner...it was quite a long cue and we waited 20 minutes to be seated...but what can I say...it was worth the wait!!! We had shrimps, mussels and clams in special cajun sauce. Seafoods cooked to perfection..definitely will always go back when in town...

By Problemchild2 |

A fun place to visit with guest. very casual and plenty of food. Everything is good and must get it with all the flavoring (the whole sha-bang. The corn and shrimp is tasty. Our family and kids loved the food and had a lot of fun

If you want to use utensils......go somewhere else!!!

In all my travels I have eaten in some of the most amazing places around the world. As family style restaurants go, this was in the top 5 for sure and pretty close to the best. From the second you arrive and see all the people anxiously awaiting their table (no reservations and your entire party must be there to be seated) to the amazing aroma of seafood once you walk through the door, you will be in awe of what this establishment has to offer. I loved how the waited ties the bib (yes, bib!) to your neck and then once the food is ready comes and "dumps" the pounds of glorious eats all over the table. If you are a foodie or just want to have a relaxed time, The Boiling Crab is a must do! I also happen to think this would be the PERFECT first date spot!!!

Decent food

Fried oysters and fried catfish

By Martin S |

The fried catfish plate was recommended as the most popular. It came with fries that had cajun seasoning. The catfish was thick and juicy. I was amazed how moist it was. The breading was good and seasoned to your preference (I chose mild which had a bit of a kick but didn't burn my tongue). The fried oysters were excellent. The shrimp in a bag with sausage and cajun seasoning was excellent. I'm not much for peeling shrimp myself, but it was very good shrimp and sausage. It got messy so the bib (which the waiter puts on you himself) was much needed. The raw oysters were pretty good, too. I prefer the fried.

Long wait but worth it

By Olivia H |

I am from Australia so I have been eating lots of fresh seafood all the time. Seafood in Boiling Crab is not the best but the taste is very unique that I have never tried before. I waited for 2.5 hours to get in and I think it is totally worth it. Service there is excellent and you feel like you got taken care of. Be ready to get mess as it tastes better when you use your both hands.

Best thing ever

Honestly it's the best thing. Simple, honest, fresh food. Probably not one to take someone to for a first date as it does get messy but genuinely top 5 places to eat in LA!

Great Seafood

By Richard T |

Southern style seafood served in a bag along with great gumbo. The place was packed early on a Thursday evening but we were seated quickly. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was great. The restaurant is unpretentious with all types of people eating with their hands and getting a little messy!! Reasonably priced too.

Great seafood and experience

Enjoyable Seafood Lunch

By Claire T |

We came here for lunch on a Saturday and they said they had no blue crab only the Alaskan crab legs which are very pricey for the qty they give you and not very tasty. But we did also order the Cajun shrimp, Cajun fries both mildly spicy as we requested as well as corn and Mexican beer. They put the seafood in plastic bags and you eat on the table no plates which is fun. They also put bibs on you. If you have your heart set on blue crabs as we did call before you go to be sure they have. Service was excellent. All in all an enjoyable meal - would love to go again.

Get there early

Great food and friendly welcoming service. There is a line to get in so you know it's just that good.

So when I visited LA my cousins asked me where I would like to go... i told them i wanted some good seafood..... and boy did they live up to my request!!! This place gets really packed so we had to arrive early .... they had fresh of everything and so needless to say it was a good experience! Would definitely go back next time when I’m in the city of Angels!

Fun place to eat and excellent seafood

By mcorbin560 |

Boiling Crab is a fun place to eat at. This location is in Westwood village and plenty of cool places to shop at. Hostess services was friendly and professional and kept you apprised if there is a wait. Service was excellent and multiple individuals help out on all the tables. Food is fresh and very tasty. They even have chicken for the non seafood eaters. Wife like the shrimp. You have many different choices in the way its cooked and seasoned. Like this place a recommend it.

Great food

By Raed |

The food was really good and the sauces are amazing. The shrimp was hot and nice but hard to peel off the shrimp. The snow crab was a little cold which I didn't appreciate. The fries were amazing.
