Great local

By nick371 |

I was traveling through Portland stay near the BG&B and found the service and selection of beers to be great, oh and the food was good as well.

This was a good place, but is now closed. It has been replaced by a microbrew that I have yet to try.

I Finally Had It with the Noise

By Guide06525473999 |

We’ve been going to The Broadway Grill & Brewery for at least five years, maybe longer. I’ve never loved the loud music, but the food was solid, the service friendly, and we’d grown attached to the place. That made the tradeoff tolerable—until now. This is my goodbye. Recently, we stopped by for lunch, but the place seemed paralyzed—no one was being served, and the staff looked overwhelmed. That wasn't like The Broadway Grill. They must have been really short staffed that day. We left and ate a few blocks away. It turned out to be a blessing. The other place was quiet. No loud rock music. No screens flashing sports highlights. Just calm. Back at The Broadway Grill today, two things hit me. First, the lingering smell of fry oil—maybe a ventilation issue on a hot day, but not appetizing. Worse, though, was the TV. On a wall across the room, a giant screen was showing a post-game recap. I couldn’t make out the words, but the tone of the panelists’ voices carried all the way to our table—irritating and impossible to ignore. When I wandered to another part of the restaurant, I found that sports talk had cut to commercial. That’s when it clicked: they were piping television ads into the dining room. Not just background noise—actual ad copy, delivered at conversational volume, into what’s supposed to be a shared public space for meals. This isn’t just a design flaw. It’s a choice. Someone decided that leaving the TV on—ads and all—was fine. Maybe they think no one notices. Maybe they think it doesn’t matter. But it does. It says the management sees customers not as guests, but as passive consumers, ambiently subjected to whatever content the TV channel happens to air. That’s not what I want from a neighborhood spot. I’m done.

Part Sports Bar, Part Restaurant.

The next time I want to shoot some pool or take in a baseball/basketball/rugby/women's gymnastics/soccer/football game, I'm heading to the Broadway Grill. Pool is cheap and by the hour. The food is solid American fare with little flare but good flavor. The service is fast and friendly. The prices are fair. It's a good hang out spot for friends or for happy hour fun.

Solid food, good beer, friendly, attentive service.

By KommissarKen |

The pub food menu is predictable, but it is well-executed. Thee beers are generally good. The space is roomy with lots of TVs for sports. The best thing is the friendly staff, which makes this a good place to bring a group.

A good place to watch a game

By KommissarKen |

The beer is better than McMenamin's, but not among the best in Portland. But it'll do. The menu is definitely pub food, but pretty dependable. The calzone is big, filling and tasty. If there was the ability to go 3.5 or 3.75, I'd probably rate it that way, but since I can't, I'll give it a 4, with a nod to the attentive service.

Breakfast burrito outstandin

By Stephen K |

Visiting Portland for the first time. Sunday morning we were planning to go to the Cadillac across the street, but there was a long line waiting outside. So we stopped by The Broadway Grill. It was GREAT and so too was the service. The breakfast burrito was like a ham and cheese omelette wrapped in a flour tortilla. Big enough for two, but because it was so good I almost ate it all.

Nice atmosphere

We stopped in after happy hour and had a drink and snack. We ordered the chicken quesadilla, which was fine. Nothing special. The waitress was pleasant but not friendly at all like the majority of people we encountered in Portland. Just doing her job, which was not what we experienced all week. I had no interest in returning during our stay.

Good pizza

We popped in to the Broadway Grill & Brewery and had a wonderful pizza. The server was quite pleasant and the restaurant was in walking distance of our hotel. Would return!

Good local spot for Friendly People and Good Food

By OkieGirl_3400 |

This was our first meal in Portland. I had a bacon cheeseburger which was fantastic. The bacon was excellent! The fries are great too. One order feeds a family. Our server took time to share things to do and places he likes to eat as a local. We really felt welcome.

Pleasantly Surprised

By Michael E |

A friend and I crossed the street to try this establishment because our initial Saturday lunch destination had a long wait.We were glad we did! Very good service.Nicely decorated for Halloween with note on the table that kids in costume will eat free on Halloween. My friend enjoyed a Reuben and I was very pleased with my breakfast burrito. Both were well presented and so large we each took half of our meals home. Neither of us had ever been to this establishment but we will definitely return perhaps to try happy hour and brewery samples.

Disappointed

By Rick U |

Sorry, but we were disappointed. We visited the Broadway a couple of years ago and were very impressed. This visit we were met with average beer selection and beers, average food and average service. Not sure we will try again.

Great Beer and Great Food

By Rick U |

Service was the best here. We tasted some craft brews and had excellent pub food. We liked this spot so much we intended to eat every meal here but didn't get that chance. A must for Portland tavelers.

Such a cool place. The beers were great and the happy hour food was awesome. But it was our waitress that made the place shine. Her name is lisa.and she was great. Helpful and open. Got to check it out.

Lunch Surprise

I walked into the BGB while waiting for a meeting. Great place with great service, quick and with lots of smiles. Food was tasty and so was the beer. Always fun to find good places by sheer luck :-)

Super Chow - Groovy Brews

By Mark H |

Stopped by for a quick bite on the first night of a business trip. I hadn't had lunch yet, so by 5:00 pm I was ravenous. Lucky I found this little gem! It was mostly empty when I arrived but filled quickly as the supper hour matured. Staff was super friendly and actually had opinions on the offerings, which I always appreciate. I stared with a $2.00 cup of mushroom, lentil and barley soup. It was as well assembled as it sounds. Some of my favorite recent soup. The burgers were calling, so I went for the Maple Bacon Heart Attack, which isn't as cardiac inducing as the name suggests. I've had bacon infused burgers before, but the maple flavor really stood out with this one. Not overwhelming, but very present, in a delicious sort of way. I also love how all the burgers are served with shredded lettuce, sliced onions and tomatoes. Kind of old fashiony in an artsy foody style. The beer battered fries were also good, but not a standout. As for drinks, I started with a $3.00 Bloody Mary, which was good but not noteworthy, and finished with their Porter, about the same. I love dark beers with real character, and the last couple I've had have been a bit bland. Don't be afraid to challenge me folks! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood.

Excellent Happy Hours

By ObjectiveUnknown |

Great happy hour menu! Visited this place with my family. We don't drink but it was the only place that was still open at the time (about 9pm). There was a sign that said family welcome. The waitress offered us the happy hour menu along with the regular menus. Starting prices for happy hour menu was $2 and it has a wide variety from wings to weinnies to burgers. The prices on the regular menu were not bad either. It was pretty average for any grill, pub, brewery style place. If I remember correctly, their happy hours are from 2-4 and 9 to closing. I'm certain on 9-closing but don't quote me on 2-4. The food was terrific. I enjoyed the Shove--a-burgers but my wife thought the meatballs sliders were better. There was 8 of us and the server (Francesca) was excellent and very accommodating. Food came pretty quickly. I'll be honest, I'm normally not a big tipper but I had to give extra to Francesca. She earned it and I truly thought she deserved it.

M-M-M-Morgan & the Totssss

By AMarie314 |

My friend & I met in Portland to go on vacation; she is from CA & I am from St. Louis. We spent the day around Mt. Tabor & Astoria & it was my job to find places to eat. 😀 I picked The Broadway Brewery & Grill & I am so glad I did! ! It has a great neighborhood bar ‘feel’ to it & we were seated quickly. The local beer was DELICIOUS, the meatball appetizer & Club sandwich really hit the spot. But we were mostly impressed by Morgan our waitress; she was very attentive even though it was busy. The tater tots were awesome, a perfect crispy outside & soft inside. We came back the next night & Morgan remembered us & what we drank the night before. Pizza was good also. Highly recommend visiting this place. Eat local!!

Not fancy, but fine

By AZGrotta |

Stopped in for lunch - and it is exactly as advertised. Great place to get local beer, good food. We were there on a week-day. Want to go back when a good game is on to see what the crowd is like. That said, food was good, service was good, price was right. What more is needed?

Lousy Food

By finaG |

We're from Tucson,AZ and have been coming to PDX for many years. We finally bought a condo right next door to The Brdway Bar & Grill on Jan 2009. We had been to the place many times before and loved their beers and food was good. But about 4 years or so, they food quility went downhill in quility and taste. We come to PDX every 2 or so to use our condo and tried to eat the food when we go for beers buts its really unbearable everytime. We tried to tell them its the food that their place is practally empty even for happy hour, but our advise has gone to deaf ears. Its a shame because their place is large and shoud be jumping with customers especially on Mondays when they feature one of their beers for a great price all day long.

Gravy fries and beer

By Kimberly L |

Popped in and was surprised by happy hour selections. I got a shove a burger with cheese and mushrooms. Perfect sized burger with good toppings. Also got gravy fries which I could eat all dang day. They were disgustingly delicious. They went well with the great white wheat. My partner got chili cheese tots and the chili was a little weird but that may be a Portland thing.

Great "American" pub

By Bob |

We found this pub 2 blocks from where our daughter lives. It looks a little grungy on the outside, but is completely refurbished on the inside. An excellent bar, with home made beers and a very extensive menu. With so much variety, we suspected the food would be tasteless and rubbery - we were pleasantly surprised. A huge Reuben sandwich and a spicy blackened chicken burger were both delicious. They came with kettle cooked chips. There was a huge selection of beers and they were cold and delicious. Complimentary tasters were provided if requested. This pub is near a group of interesting restaurants in the Broadway and NE 15th Ave area - a great area to dine when in the Lloyd District.

Awesome spot

Grabbed a quick bite here before heading to a concert at the MODA center. We were in and out, but we could have stayed longer if we wanted to. Great environment & wonderful wait staff. Food was tasty too! :)

Outstanding bar and grill

By Minnie |

Wow this is my second tune here First time I had the hamburger and tater tots This time I had a chili dog on the happy hour menu and a meatball sandwich with tater tots The waitress was outstanding kept refilling my tea glass, ensuring my food was perfect!! Eeje was her name I highly recommend this place

Awesome happy hour

By S. J |

We popped in for beer, and after checking out the happy hour menu, decided to order the falafel and pita sandwich. Amazing - sooooo good. After we finished, we both wanted a second one! Not that we were still hungry, but because it was so tasty. Definitely will be back, and definitely will order the falafel pita again. Service was top notch, friendly and funny. Great atmosphere and very clean.

Worth a visit if you're in the area

By Winesoakedjourney |

We visited this brewery only because we were in the area. Their beers were average and nothing really stood out. If searching breweries to visit, I'd give this a skip. The food was much the same and was average. One of the better choices in the area, but would not go out of my way to visit.

Soooo amazing

By Jbaska |

The problem with Portland is its unlimited of great food ;) we stopped in for a pint and ended up ordering the cheesy garlic sticks... 10/10! If I wasn't so full from Aztec Willies I would have ordered at least 5 items off the menu, and that's not easy for a vegetarian ;) Definitely worth checking out!

Breakfast

By mel040964 |

Breakfast choices were very slim, just not much to choose from and a big in the high side for what you can get in the surrounding area

Cheap eats!

By Charlesvincent A |

I ordered off the cheap eats menu, wow how cheap and awesome! I got the tex mex burrito for 3 dollars and paid an extra 2 for Pico Gallo and the enchilada sauce. The enchilada sauce had a nice kick to it, I really enjoyed it. The portion size large for $5. I would highly recommend. FYI it is a vegetarian dish!

Great place to watch the game

By Stephen F |

I really like the Broadway grill. Our granddaughters live in Portland so we visit that city often. Broadway grill is one of my favorite places to have a beer or eat lunch. Even better is to watch a football game there. Knowledgeable fans, good food and great beer can't be beat. I especially like the beer battered fries and the Bombay IPA. I recommend it for a friendly vibe and pub food.

Good salads, fries, always a fun place.

By CSSD_12 |

We enjoy this go-to place. It offers nice salads and excellent fries. The burgers look great and their Happy Hour is a good one.

Great Food, Brew & Atmosphere

Great Birthday Party Here!

By Lindsey |

We threw a surprise party for a friend who was celebrating his 100th birthday, Broadway Grill staff could not have been more helpful in planning and pulling it off. We booked their "back room" for dinner for 35 senior citizens who loved the informal ambiance, pub food, wide assortment of house-made ale plus full bar. The Broadway Grill even managed to handle all of those orders at the same time and to give everyone separate checks. Special kudos to General Manager Shannon and Kaily, both of whom helped with the planning, and to Chris, server extraordinaire. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this friendly, neigborhood pub for special events as well as for regular meals.

Popular local spot good reason

By Brian J |

Being totally honest, I wrote the Broadway Grill off years ago. I'd visited a couple of times and "meh" would be a kind review. We gave it another look in 2023 because of the strong gluten free menu, it's pretty closely, and I got the sense it had gone from slow/medium busy to pretty consistently busy. I don't know what changed but man, what a U-turn. Solid food, nice service, all with the aforementioned gluten free options. I can't attest to how strong the breadth of the gluten free menu is, since their pepperoni pizza is among my son's favorite in town. He never orders anything else. My wife and I have explored more (admittedly non gluten free) and I don't think we've ever been disappointed. It is a sports bar so if there's a game with significant local interest, it will be loud & busy. Beyond the Ducks I'm not sure if it has a NFL allegiance, wouldn't surprise me though. Like most Lloyd area eateries, it sees a decent amount of pre-Blazers game traffic as well. In a year where they aren't terrible, that schedule might be something we'll need to keep more of an eye on. They have an affiliated west side restaurant The Old Market Pub that we'll definitely keep in mind if we're in the area. Driven by it on the way to sports a few times and it looks like a fun place.

A fun sports bar with a hearty breakfast menu

By doctorglenn |

I have been here several times for breakfast. The breakfast burrito is great, the other breakfasts I have tried are also wonderful. Sundays is the football crowd, and they accommodate everyone's requests to see specific games. Looks like there are a lot of regulars.

My mouth was singing, and I ate every speck on my plate!

By S. J |

My daughter and I went to the Pub for dinner mid-week. There was qiute a crowd, but we got a seat no problem. Waiter was prompt, and kept our drinks filled. We ordered the cesear salad - the dressing is amazingly yummy. I had the gyro - sooo good, I ate every bite. My daughter had the pizza, and she totally enjoyed it. She was really happy to take some home for later! Will definately be back soon. You won't be dissappointed.

Broadway Grill

Visiting our daughter in Portland...went to this neighborhood pub for dinner. Huge menu with lots of choices in food and local beers. A bit loud but it was a sports bar with multiple televisions. We were there for happy hour. Very reasonable prices. Will definitely go back again...

Mediocre at best. Decent food. Questionable service.

By Alfredo227 |

I have been here at least 3-4 times and walk from a near by hotel. The food has been decent and at a decent price I believe. The beer is what brings me back, definitely not the customer service. Each time it has gotten worse and with so many options in PDX I fear this will be my last time patronaging this establishment.

Great Place

My hubby and I popped in on our Portland trip not sure what to expect. We got yummy food, great beer and an awesome server. Loved enjoying the heat outside!

Great Bar Food - even for vegetarians

By Martina Z |

Friendly, spunky service... a vast menu full of delicious comfort food. Great soups. I stayed in Portland less than a week and ate here 3 times. This is like an enlightened sports bar with amazing food and a game room. You really can't go wrong here, especially if you're starving. Portions are big, ingredients are fresh, service is friendly and efficient. I recommend the soup in a pizza dough bowl. The salads were amazing, too.
