Other items are good, too. My brother and sister-in-law accompanied me, along with their 2-year-old son. I got the green salad with roasted chicken on top; it was delicious and very filling (I had to take leftovers home). My sister-in-law got a sandwich and my brother got a hamburger; they ordered a child's size macaroni and cheese for their son (which came with a small fruit salad on the side). All were satisfied. Total was around $40.00, before tax and tip.

Really good Chicago brunch spot. Quality bottomless coffee which was surprising to me. They have a diverse menu with options for any taste - I’m normally a savory girl but I ordered the maple cinnamon bacon infused waffles and fell in love! Very cute place to have brunch

Great location, great service and great food. Just the basics here. They do it all well. Portions are very generous, served hot and with a smile. So many breakfast places try to trick it up. These guys just serve great food at good prices.

Food was ok. Order came out wrong-missing items. The hostess told us 15 minute wait. 45 minutes later we got seated after being told to go wait outside when we questioned how long the wait remaining would be. Lot of attitude. Wont be back.

sandwiches! soup.

Not really that hidden it is right on Clark street, It is definitely one of our Favorite restaurants for breakfast, lunch or weekend brunch! Since the new owner took over this place and brightened up the decor hired a new chef and updated the menu, while still keeping all the old favorites, this place is sunny, cheery and delicious! It has been remade into a great friendly atmosphere! They also kept all the excellent serving staff which adds to the friendly experience! Thanks to Tom and his partners for saving this resturant, Alex & Karlina CuozzoKeep

OK PEOPLE OF THE WORLD HEAR THIS Or those in the Chicago area, this past weekend I had the pleasure of eating at Frances’ and I also had the pleasure of being waited on by Devon. Both events were great. I shared the Lox platter and a side of bacon with a friend. The bagels were warm, chewy, and perfectly toasted, the salmon was cold pink and melt in your mouth, the cream cheese was thick and tangy, onions crisp and capers, well cappery (is that a word?) The bacon was good not the best in the world I had had better but hey I have had worse. Others in my party ordered the pancake corn dogs, and the skillet bowls. Everyone was happy with their order and very much enjoyed their food. And I am not saying that I eat with people that like to complain, but I do eat with people that like to complain, and everyone was too busy eating to complain. This in my book is a huge compliment. The atmosphere is inviting and eclectic with a family feel we were surrounded by visiting families, local families, hipsters, scenesters, yuppies, and the all around Midwest mom visiting her kid at University. The Brunette at the hostess stand was super friendly the clients were super friendly and Devon was super friendly and cute, wink wink Devon. I would say this is a great breakfast, brunch spot, great for Sunday morning, hell great for Friday night 5 stars, enjoy, oh btw HUGE glasses of OJ so that’s a plus.

We totally skipped lunch after having breakfast at Frances' The corned beef/pastrami sandwich is HUGE. Egg dishes were delicious & and the lox plate exactly what I expected.

If you’re looking for a great breakfast that will fill you up until dinner, this is the place. I used to live nearby and have eaten at Frances many times. The skillets are tremendous, and come out of the kitchen in the actual skillet. Careful, they are hot. A variety of delicious omlettes are also available. The french toast and pancakes are as good or better than most places. You really can’t go wrong with the breakfast menu, although I think their coffee is mediocre. The lunch menu is also pretty good. My favorite is the Lincoln Park sandwich, which is heaps of turkey, Muenster cheese, and honey mustard on challah. Other excellent choices are also available. If you have a sweet tooth they have one of the best chocolate milkshakes in the city. The price won’t break the bank but it is not cheap eats. I usually spend $15-20 per person for breakfast, but it is totally worth it. Get there early on weekends because by 9:30-10 am the place is packed and the wait is long. Finally. The name. I am told that once upon a time Frances was a true deli. Now it is a very good restaurant.

Went for Sunday brunch/ lunch. The Reuben omelet was excellent. Very varied menu. The potato pancakes were almost as good as what my Grandmother made. A good family restaurant, friendly staff

great traditional deli--although I did see lots of folks sending meals back so look things over carefully--hubby got pastrami when he ordered salami--fixed right up & all was well!! great sandwiches, soup & the breakfast looked immense!!

It is 5:30 and we are both hungry. No pizza;nothing large like from Basil Leaf; Chinese? Let us just swallow a box of MSG; shoot me. Humm! How about a corned beef/pastrami with potatoe pancakes, apple sauce? Um-Um-Um! Call, order, deliver. I will put it up against any deli here or in NYC. Strictly a local place. Love it!

Frances’ is a cute breakfast-brunch-lunch spot offering a good selection of sweet and savory options. I prefer savory breakfasts and really enjoyed my breakfast burrito. It was generously sized and came stuffed with cheesy hash browns, three different kinds of peppers, onions and homemade turkey sausage in a tomato tortilla. Homemade pork or chicken sausage are also options. It set me up really well for a full day of walking! Our server was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed.

This is our third time coming here when visiting Chicago. Well worth the bus trip up from Downtown. Local flavor, but staff is always cordial and accomodating. The corned beef hash is wonderful. Their Bloody Mary's look amazing, though we didn't try one on a Sunday morning recent visit.

Love everything about this little place. Everything is homemade and incredibly delicious....real roasted turkey (!), out of this world corned beef and pastrami, pancakes to die for, amazing french toast, and more. If you're looking for a reasonable delicious lunch or breakfast in Lincoln Park, this is the place! It's worth making the trip in a cab too! We always eat here when we come to Chicago.

Typical diner with great service and plentiful items for breakfast and lunch.

Haven’t been here in a while , place is fantastic totally redone fresh clean and more importantly most delicious brunch and lunch items French Toast Flight to die for . Four different toppings with four roasts. Turkey and cranberry sandwich and tuna so big we could not finish One of our guests had the lox platter never seen one so extravagant and bountiful We had mimosa flights and milkshakes with Kailua for dessert One of the best brunch /lunch places we have tried Kudos to the new owners they really know how to lift a place that was dying

Looking for an upscale breakfast experience? Frances' Deli and Brunchery in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood has been providing them for 83 years. Located at 2552 North Clark Street, Frances' Deli is open from 9 to 3 daily and offers breakfast, brunch and lunch fare. But breakfast is the big seller. How about a Great Since '38 Breakfast, two scrambled eggs, sausage and an English muffin? Or three cinnamon rolls, cinnamon swirled buttermilk batter pancakes with cream cheese glazed icing topped with home-made maple butter? My wife's favorite breakfast treat is Belgian waffles and Francis' version is a keeper with blueberry batter and topped with fresh berries and home-made maple butter. I'm partial to the strawberry shortcake French toast, a brioche dipped in home-made strawberry infused batter and topped with fresh strawberries and home-made maple butter with cheesy hashbrowns. Don't forget lunch. Try a bowl of chicken soup with noodles and a turkey Reuben sandwich, real roasted turkey, Swiss cheese, 1,000 Island dressing and cole slaw on sourdough bread with a kosher pickle and potato salad. Or a Reuben sandwich with home-made corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and 1,000 Island dressing on grilled rye. Anyone who has been in business since Dizzy Dean and Gabby Hartnett and Phil Cavarretta were playing for the Chicago Cubs must know their way around a kitchen.

Haven’t been here for a while since pandemic, new changes added garage door windows making the dining experience elfresco outdoor dining Food and service always top notch with unique items as French Toast and Champagne Flights and a Bloody Mary like you have never seen Unique dishes like scallops and shrimp egg dishes and homemade sausage patties and a lox platter Must try this place it’s a gastronomic experience Five Star review

We had breakfast here two days in row. The breakfasts are generous and tasty with many items to chose from. Although we didn't partake, there is a Bloody Mary Bar which looks spectacular for weekends.

World class establishment located in the Libcoln Parm section of Chicago. I enjoyed the food, drinks and vibes! If you are in a large party, expect a long wait.

We stopped by for an early St Paddy's Day lunch. I had the corned beef sandwich with a potato pancake - I liked the potato pancake best. Lots of tables - so everyone is on top of everyone else. Only saw our server to order and when he gave us the bill.

We ate breakfast here on a Sunday morning. My friend and I ordered the Fried Egg B.L.A.T. and Cheese Blintzes and mentioned we would be splitting between us because we couldn't decide on just one thing. A few minutes later the food was pleasantly delivered - and already split for us. Never had we had someone do this for us (and we "split" often!) ~ and it was just one indication of the awesome service of this deli. I will DEFINATELY be back. (and the food, by-the-way was AWESOME!!!)

Came here for a yummy outdoor breakfast and was not disappointed. Everything made here was incredibly tasty. Pricy but worth it.

Met Chef Derek today! What a treat! Had 3 people in our party and enjoyed the amazing mimosa flight, iced coffee, homestyle skillet, French toast flight, and biscuits and gravy. Everything was deliciously and totally gram worthy! That’s to Chef Derek and the crew for another amazing experience!

Frances' Deli at 2552 North Clark Street has been serving traditional comfort food in an old-fashioned diner setting since 1938. It is Lincoln Park's oldest deli, a Kosher Jewish deli that features great Matzah ball soup, hot corned beef and hot pastrami sandwiches and other traditional deli mainstays, and boasts that it produces the best breakfast in the city. I don't know about that but old-timers vouch for the oatmeal, Frances' flapjacks, cheese blintzes, omelettes, nova lox plate, skillets, fried Mazoh, pancakes, fried egg sandwich and the fried red potatoes skillet, which includes two eggs, Frances' own sauce, Amy's all-natural chicken sausage and corned beef. We arrived for lunch. We aren't Jewish but we had to sample the home-town favorites, the signature items, Matzah ball soup, hot corned beef and hot pastrami sandwiches and the banana split sundae, a delicious blend of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream topped with hot fudge, hot caramel and chocolate syrup surrounded by fresh bananas with shipped cream, nuts and a cherry. Other sandwich options are the Reuben, hot pastrami, hot roast beef, BBQ burger and chicken. Dinners? How about roast turkey with stuffing, baked meatloaf, roast beef with gravy, beef stew or brisket of beef? Breakfast is served all day and a Bloody Mary bar with 50 ingredients is available on weekends, which usually are crowded inside and on the sidewalk. Frances' Deli has been serving delicious comfort food for more than three-quarters of a century. So why did it take so long for us to find it? After all, North Clark is becoming a very popular restaurant hangout. Even if you don't like pastrami or lox of Matzah ball soup, you can't pass up a banana split sundae.

My favorite is the matzo brei with salami (scrambled eggs mixed with matzo and pieces of fried salami). Wonderful large sandwiches. Perfect matzo ball soup. Has been in the neighborhood since the 1940's. Highly recommend for breakfast or lunch. Very complete menu. We've been there literally over one hundred times and always pleased. A Chicago landmark.

Chef Rylon does it again!!!! Amazing food and excellent service every single time. Our family loved it.

The server knocked an entire cup of hot coffee on my son (adult) as she was setting down his food. Needed towels for the table and a mop for the floor. My son spent over 10 min. in the bathroom as his shorts were soaked. His food sat and got cold and I went ahead and ate 1/2 my meal while I waited for him to return (not how we wanted to spend our Mother's Day Brunch outing as I was visiting from out of state). The waitress had not seen this happen so I told her at checkout that I thought they should do something. She came back saying they would give us the coffee for free and 10% off (about $10 total). As we had to go straight home so my son could shower and change, vs going to our next stop, I thought they should at least comp his meal. I asked to see the manager. She came out with an attitude! When I said that an entire cup of hot coffee had been dumped in his lap, she feigned concern and said, "But you are ok , right?". When I said his food was cold she said, "But you ate it, right?". I said I was very disappointed that this is all they would do and that I'm sure if a full lap of coffee had been dumped on her, she would feel differently. "Accidents happen" she said. She just kept acting like she was doing us a big favor taking the equivalent of $10 off the bill. It really was not about the $$, it was about her horrible attitude! If a server dumps a full cup of hot coffee in a guest's lap, giving them that coffee for free and 10% off and acting like that's a fair and generous offer and all you can do is NOT the right answer! TERRIBLE customer service!! The food was ok, the place was super loud but cute.

I ordered a hamburger with everything on including an fried egg excluding the the bun. No problem...it was easy and delicious. The french fries are plentiful and good tasting. This is an old-fashioned deli with formica tables. Don't expect anything fancy but excellent food and very good service. It is a bit loud due to the metal ceiling but it's a really fun place to eat plain, good food. Outside dining is available.

well i read the reviews so i waited til the weekend so i could do the build your own caesar. next time ask for ice on the side so you have more room for the fixins. the glass is way too small!! very delicious. had the #3 which if memory serves was a mix of pastrami and corned beef. i'm in heaven

Love challah French toast, matzo ball soup. It is a bit loud with close seating, but the food is worth it

A change of hands and menu on May 1 has converted this venerable (since 1938) kosher-accented mainstay into yet another "bruncherie" (its word) in this bruncherie-bursting neighborhood. Lots of omelettes and benedicts. So if you need a spinach-and-cheddar something or a shmear of zest-accented hollandaise on your egg and ham and English muffin, the menu says you'll find it (or something close) here, so enjoy. Live and be well. But I ordered what for 80 years was a Frances must-have -- a pastrami on rye (a half sandwich, actually) -- one of a few surviving deli-style offerings tucked apologetically into a corner of the new menu. The pastrami was a couple of slices of dry, flavorless matter resembling that packaged stuff best suited for chipped beef, folded over and served on stale rye. There was no mustard on the table; I had to ask for it -- and after a few minutes, a dollop arrived in a little paper cup. Was there a dill pickle spear alongside the sandwich? Don't be silly. When I asked if they still served chocolate phosphates (another traditional drink here resembling a New York egg cream), the waiter looked at me as if I'd ordered yak milk. So: If you want eggs or waffles or pancakes, etc., topped with something you probably don't keep at home, this restaurant with "Frances" still on the sign may have it, and it may be the best you ever had. But if you want hot, perfectly unlean corned beef stacked high on rye with a pickle and a side dish of kishke with gravy, and a chocolate phosphate to drink -- preceded by a steaming bowl of mushroom barley soup made onsite -- well, I know a guy. He isn't here.

we came around 10am today, Sunday, and there was already a slight wait. we opted for a high top in the bar and were able to sit right away. by 11am, it was busy! our server was Kevin. he was terrific! very friendly, efficient and explained the menu to us. he was awesome we had a BLAT and the 1938 skillet. i chose the English muffin and upgraded to cheesy hash browns. who doesn't love cheese and potatoes?!?! everything was delicious!

This is the only item I tried, so can't speak to their whole menu. However, I was delighted with the fresh salad with roast chicken slices on top. I'd go there daily, but unfortunately they have rather odd hours, open for breakfast and lunch, closing at 3:00 p.m. Mon-Wed. They stay open till 8:00 on Thursday, Friday or Saturday, though. And they serve beer & wine.

It's been around for a long, long time and I've walked by it many times, but it took me a while to stop in. I'm kind of kicking myself now. This was such a fun place. We went for lunch on a Saturday and opted for sandwiches. The triple-decker sandwiches are pretty massive. They're pretty much 4 "normal" sandwiches, but they are excellent. The "Clark & Arlington" was the favorite. Potato salad was a bit on the dry side for me, but good. I'd probably opt for fries as we saw them on a neighboring table and they looked good. Service was super friendly and efficient. Atmosphere is also great. Feels very "old world" Chicago. Definitely worth making the effort (and likely waiting in line on the weekend) to enjoy a nice meal.

Sometimes eating at a deli for breakfast or lunch may not be top on the list of things to do. But, at Frances', we were not disappointed with out choice. The omelets are very well sized and made to order with lots of choices. The sandwich I had was piled high with meat (not fillers), like a double decker sandwich. Potato latkes were not greasy, a little crispy around the edges: just the way they should be. Also asked for a bloody mary with less than usual liquor. Server was happy to accommodate. Great job! If that wasn't enough, the price could not be beat. Do try Frances'. It is low key, clean, the staff is friendly, food is great, no counter to sit at and, if you can't find it on the menu, probably wasn't what you wanted anyway.

Huge sandwiches with choice of side and big pickle wedge. We usually get the potato pancake for the side (one of the best potato pancakes anywhere) but got the potato salad last night in a takeout order and it was great. Usually very loud and busy but we always get a table pretty quick when we eat there. Our take out order was ready when promised.

LOVE THIS PLACE. The atmosphere is so cute and the staff are wonderful. Food is AMAZING. Some of the brunch/lunch dishes come with a small side of coleslaw and it's the best I've ever had. Definitely try their mimosas.

We ordered the Bloody Mary and then tried to decide what to have for brunch from the many menu selections we wanted to try. I opted for one of the specials...a Chicken Alfredo Omelet and it was wonderful. My son had the Red Velvet Waffles. The service was great and so was the Dark Matter coffee. We will be back when we return to Chicago!

I hope this is a trend that catches on, but this restaurant does flights of EVERYTHING. Flights of French Toast, Waffles, Mimosas, BACON! 5 different kinds of each and not just different toppings, like the flavors are infused in the batters, so things are bursting with flavor. I just ate here with my girlfriend, she got the scallop omelet and was blown away, I tried the jerk shrimp and grits and I feel compelled to write this review. We shared a bacon and a mimosa flight. Must try a blood orange mimosa. I am not joking. THIS RESTAURANT is everything I need in my life. I need to come back for lunch and try the turkey ruben, because the table next to ours was raving about it. Very, very friendly staff, adorable decor, would love to see this place franchise. Okay, I'm done. Did I mention they have BACON FLIGHTS?!?

Good food that is consistent and satisfying. Down home service and regular breakfast menu.

Frances' Deli at 2552 North Clark Street in the Lincoln Park neighborhood is what an old-fashioned diner is all about, traditional comfort food, friendly service, local clientele, a menu filled with salads, burgers and sandwiches--and all-day breakfast. What separates Frances' Deli from others are some unique offerings, such as the Fatty Melt, a 1/2-pound burger between two grilled cheese sandwiches with cheddar, bacon, grilled onions and tomato served with fries or the real roast turkey hot open face sandwich with mashed potatoes, gravy and stuffing or the Zookie the Bookie triple decker sandwich, hot roast beef and real roast turkey with Swiss, 1,000 Island dressing and cole slaw or a Clark and Arlington, hot corned beef and hot pastrami with Swiss, 1,000 Island dressing and cole slaw or a hot brisket of beef sandwich. Wash it down with a root beer float or a chocolate milk shake. I recently stopped by for an early breakfast, two scrambled eggs with corned beef and salami. That's right, salami. And I took home an egg salad, tuna salad and chicken sandwich to eat while watching a football game. I also took home a Julienne salad, real roast turkey, salami, Swiss, cheddar, tomato, carrots, cucumber on lettuce with a hard-boiled egg. For breakfast, you might prefer lox or a skillet or omelets or flapjacks or French toast or cheese blintzes or even fried Matzo. Whatever your taste, Frances can satisfy it.

Several years ago after a doctor's appointment in Licoln Park area, we stumbled along this place. Not a large menu. Not very fancy. But the best burger. Now everytime I go to Chicago, I want to go to Frances' Deli. This place has been in business since 1933, probably has not updated it's interior, but I feel it's part of its charm. For Chicago area, probably moderate pricing.. burgers, fries and sodas for 2 people will run you about $35.

We went on a recommendation from Children's Hospital across the street. We were so happy this was the place we chose. You walk in grab your menu and find a seat. Service was quick and friendly. My daughter is a very picky 10 year old and she said it was the "best chicken ever". I ordered the turkey avocado club. It was "AMAZING". Food was fresh.

A wonderful place for breakfast, lunch and Dinner, wonderful Matsa Soup, great sandwiches,Waffles, desserts etc.Wondeful Corned Beef, Pastrami, Brisket and multiple other delights!

This place has food for all taste buds! The inside is cute and the service is friendly. Unfortunately, I feel as though the food is over priced and the turkey on my sandwich was dry. I can tell it's fresh, but it was still dry.

Had a lovely breakast here this morning. The orange juice is fresh and the food comes out hot. We have been eating here for years and it is consistent.

Generous portions, delicious spinach-mushroom omelet, pancakes with real maple syrup, cheesiest hash browns, breakfast sandwiches, full lunch menu too: a yummy experience but plan to get there by 10 or 10:30 on a Sunday morning or you'll have to wait. Also, it gets loud.

Came to the big city and wanted the best Rueben sandwich available. What I got was right on target and right what the doctor ordered. Had the potato pancakes with the sandwich. This was a good choice.

Frances' Deli has been serving traditional comfort food in an old-fashioned diner since 1938. They pride themselves on providing "an upscale breakfast experience" to their loyal, longtime customers. Well, they've been in business for 81 years so it figures they know what they are doing. Located at 2552 North Clark Street in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood, Frances' Deli is open from 8 to 3 daily. Breakfast doesn't get any better than this. My wife regularly chooses one of four favorite options--strawberry shortcake French toast with brioche dipped in home-made strawberry batter and topped with fresh strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream; caramel apple French toast with brioche dipped in caramel batter, sliced Granny Smith apples and topped with candied walnuts; Belgian waffle with bacon, cinnamon and maple syrup; or Belgian waffle with caramelized apples and topped with walnuts. I'm not as particular. I have two choices--corned beef hash skillet with two scrambled eggs, corned beef, fried potatoes, onions and peppers and the 1938 breakfast with two scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, home-made spicy pork sausage patties and toast. See you at Franny's.

This deli has the best sandwiches! Try the Turkey Ruben or the Lincoln Park... YUM!!

This was one of my best meals in Chicago! Great service, and amazing corned beef sandwich ....i have not had better..it was just delicious...trek across the city in rain, snow, sun whatever to have lunch here!!

I understand that Chef Derek Rylon has taken over this place and it is truly amazing food wise The breakfast menu they once had is being transformed to a Brunchery... French Toast Flight of four French roasts each a different flavor Strawberry Shortcake, Blueberry Crunch , Caramel Apple and Lemon Zest all to die for. Special of the day soft shell crab omelet wow was Amazing. The old staples are still there a Fat Burger between grilled cheese sandwich and of course Corned Beef You must try this place 5 STARS plus Truly amazing food

Stopped in for a bite and have leftovers for two more meals. We ordered a tuna melt, turkey sandwich (fresh turkey), soup, and onion rings. All were very good. Our server, Nicola, worked her butt off and gave us excellent service.

Went with a client for brunch/lunch Very unusual entrees, we had a French toast flight as appetizer it was five pieces of French Toast each with a different topping…apple cinnamon, fresh strawberries, fresh blueberries, lemon chiffon and pecan pie! It was truly amazing best ever had. Not only was there a topping but bread was infused with fresh fruit batter! For lunch we had Nutella banana pancakes and the Chicken and waffles, waffle was sweet potato The whole adventure was amazing food, service and ambience Give it five stars prepare for a wait on weekends and they also have outside seating and garage door windows for al fresco dining A must go in Lincoln Park

Our group decided to “Bike The Drive.” Afterwards, we hit this place. They have indoor/outdoor seating. It was a mid-70* day; we chose to sit outside. Our meals were all very good. No one left hungry. We were pleasantly surprised by the menu prices. Much more like suburban prices than Chicago city prices.

You can't help but feel at home at Frances'. The place is very clean, even though old. The service is very friendly and efficient. Better yet, the food is great. The blue berry pancakes, sausage and eggs were hot and tasty. My family enjoyed their tuna melts, large enough to take half home. They have a very expansive menu for any hour of the day.

I had a wonderful breakfast last Saturday (May, 04th, 2013) the eggs was great, the tosts are perfect as I ordered....people that work there are kind and fast! Amazing!

Frances' was recommended at the place we worked out. We were seated and met by a smiling server named Catlin. She was very personable and attentive. Food was plentiful and excellent. I would highly recommend!

Dear Frances, what a wonderful visit we had yesterday for lunch! Tell Rueben he was delicious - perhaps the best Rueben ever. Stacked with corned beef, my husband had the pastrami option, perfectly toasted rye and not even sort of soggy. Just yummy yummy yummy. The serving sizes are plentiful with pickles, slaw, potato pancake and apple sauce. Service was fast and friendly. Tables were a bit tight but for the major great food, I will joyfully endure. Tempted to try the spiked shakes but had to save that for next time. Can't wait! Thanks Frances!

Not a huge place but very busy be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes for a table Place has been remodeled and looks great only to be surpassed by the food We had the French Toast flight, five pieces each with a different sauce Chicken and waffles outstanding Sandwiches huge and delicious especially the corned beef sandwiches Many tables had champagne flights that looked amazing Would highly recommend and would definitely come back

The service and food were great. The blueberry pancakes were great. The sunny side up eggs tasted great but could've looked a little more appealing. The ham was simply a thick slice of deli ham but it tasted good too. It was satisfying.

I stopped into Frances Deli this morning to grab a quick bite. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it's breakfast and I have eaten at worse looking places. Not much inside but had great music playing, a large chalkboard with soups and specials and a great people watching table available. I sat down and the server approached right away. Very pleasant and took my order. I had the Egg BLAT Sandwich. It comes with Fried Redskin Potatoes. It was served in a reasonable amount of time and looked terrific. The egg was perfect with just enough yolk, ample avocado, fresh tomato, nice assortment of leafy lettuce, perfect bacon to give it a little smoke and salt and a generous slice or two of swiss cheese(goey and yummy). It was easy to eat and not messy. I loved it and will probably crave it now. The fried potato's were out of this world. Just "diner" greasy enough with tons of crispy golden brown bits and edges. They were that good. I can't speak to anything else on menu but I really enjoyed my selection

Do not dare waste your time and go to this place. On a scale of 1-1000 it is a 5 out of a thousand. I give it 5 out of a thousand for at least having rye bread. Although stale and no taste. This place is truly a nightmare. Trip advisor reviews are generally decent but trust me this was not just a bad day. They do not care about food. They serve hot sauce in a jewish deli, no mustard on the table. They warn you the pastrami is not recommended , so I tried the corned beef...... bad idea. They recommended the potato latkes, they were harder than my car tires. STAY AWAY

On my last visit, about a year ago, I found a Frances' that had changed managements and concepts two months earlier -- it was no longer the kosher-ish deli we'd loved for generations. What had replaced it was . . . well, a one-star mess. Skinny sandwiches on stale bread, shoddy everything, service included. The good news: It got its act together. The familiar stacked-style sandwiches (corned beef, pastrami, etc.) are back, plus other things we crave -- joined by imaginative plates and sandwiches that invite exploration. I tried the Impossible Burger (a choice my grandma would find impossible to believe), a plant-based patty energized by avocado and other good things and was delighted. My wife thoroughly enjoyed a loaded salad whimsically called "Fancy Schmancy." I watched big, beautiful sandwiches pass and considered my next try here, perhaps for one of the zillions of breakfast options (biscuits & gravy! chicken & waffles! fried matzo! a lox plate!). In brief: Maybe that first try came too soon; for sure, this revisit took too long to happen. We'll be back, and thrilled -- and frankly, grateful -- you're here. Thank you.

Went for a late lunch in freezing weather, great food, great service.... The interior is welcoming, menu is varied enough for anyone. Great stop off point on our winters day walking around Chicago.

Busy place, so you expect it to be good...and it was. The Bloody Mary was full of flavor. Rich and delicious. The egg sandwich with salami hit the spot. Expect to sit shoulder to shoulder as the place is tight and packed. We were there on a Sunday around noon. Tables turn quick so hang out it there is a line.

Great brunch very friendly staff and great food thank you nothing too much trouble from the nine ladies from the UK

You could do a whole of worse than France‘a especially for the area. On a Sunday morning the parking was free & the owner & staff assured I was satisfied.

This place is south of Clark and Broadway so it has a different crowd that the other delis near by. It was very busy and active. I wanted to try the regular corned beef to compare to the others that make it great. I could not do that here. They had a sandwich that was famous from the TV show Friends. I had to try it as I have wanted one for a long time. That is right, they sell the "Day after Thanksgiving " sandwich. It was magnificent. This area within 7 blocks has 3 fine delis. It is worth eating here and cruising the area for several other fine places but you will eat here more than once. They even have special large sandwiches if you want.

Awesome matzo ball soup, lean corn beef, great service, and sweet neighborhood vibe. What's not to love?
The place for brunch near Lincoln Park!
Fantastic place for brunch in the Lincoln Park area north of Chicago. Black owned by the chef, his food is amazing and the atmosphere is wonderful. All the food looked and tasted great. They do mimosa flights of varying flavors, great way to celebrate or just start the day right! This is a breakfast and lunch restaurant only, no dinner service. The menu is large, difficult to make choices. Bring your appetite and you will still be taking home a doggy bag of leftovers!!
