Instagram-worthy Restaurant

By Oai Truong |

Come here if you want to take some beautiful Instagram-worthy photos, or possibly run into a Youtube star. The ambience and decor is beautiful, and the lighting from the skylights provide for picture-perfect photos. The service is very slow however when busy, and the food was good, just not as spectacular as the setting.

Casual and cool.

By Osa |

Pretty alright. Cool ambience. Food could use some more flavor to it. Reasonable prices. Great location w option to sit outside.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED

By Danielle C |

I know there is always one person that leaves a bad review but I have never reviwed any restaurant before but I am so livid with these guys it’s worth it. The worst customer service I have ever seen!!! They don’t cater for allergies are extremely rude and don’t reply to any emails or messages about their service. I sent them an email informing I had been rudely turned away as they couldn’t cater to my allergy of no garlic or onion ( you would think avocado on toast would be easy enough) they never replied to my emails of my messages. Don’t go here if you want to be treated well or actually want to eat something. I drove all the way across LA to visit this restaurant and they are awful!!

Beautiful brunch spot in Venice

By melrox559 |

The Butcher's Daughter came to us as a brunch suggestion from the owner of our Air BnB. We visited on a Sunday and it was BUSY! My husband and I waited about 20 minutes for our table, and it was worth the wait. I prefer savory so I ordered the Surfer's Burrito without avocado which contains farm eggs, pinto beans, cheddar new potatoes & green salsa. My husband with his sweet tooth ordered the Seasonal Stone Fruit Waffle (vanilla waffle, whipped cream, almonds, & bee pollen) which was topped with nectarines from Fresno. We each ordered a champagne flight with their fresh pressed juices. Fantastic brunch!

Awesome

By Carmenzita91 |

Great food and drinks as well as absolutely nice staff! Besides the interior looks really beautiful, too!

Not worth your times.

By Michael Price N |

What a terrible experience. We had a party of 7 and had made reservations 2 weeks in advance (as we are all old friends gathering for different parts of the country). While we were still eating dessert and drinking our coffees, the hostess swooped in told us, "We need this table. We'll give you 5 more minutes." Huh?? I've eaten all over LA and across the country and around the globe and no one's EVER given me an ultimatum like that! We took our time to finish. Final verdict: over priced, mediocre food and a staff that's overly impressed with themselves. Stay away. Find a more hospitable Venice restaurant.

Tasty, lovely & good vibes

By Patrick Vollert |

Very nice restaurant, totally recommended! Decor is industrial kind of vintage and the vibes are very welcoming. The food goes in a range of organic and fresh dishes & juices. Don’t miss some of their kale chips and one of their signature drinks to go with your food 👌🏼

Pizza is a must!

By tessaroyal |

This place rocks! Friday night I had a beet margarita which had a nice bit of spice to it from the jalapeño garnish. The pizza is a must. I have had the mushroom with truffle oil and also the fig, pear and Gorgonzola one. Epic flavor profile. Their plating is great as is the service. I also went for Sunday brunch by myself and sat at the bar. Matcha GF pancakes were delicious and I feel must be nutritious 🤣. Well worth the wait if it is busy. The Golden State Tumeric latte gives Australia a run for their money!!

No meat.but really tasty

By Jack L |

A friend invited me to this place when I got there they at least they told me it was a vegetarian no meat I was a little skeptical the service had a little bit to be desired they brought me the wrong food then they charged me for the extra food that they brought me but overall the breakfast was very good I had I have the eggs benedict with avocado is very tasty I also ordered a scone which was kind of small for the price the coffee was good other than the service I would have to say it was worth a second visit but if you're looking for sausage or bacon with your breakfast don't go there

enjoyable vegetarian...

By eyeu |

Even if you are not a vegetarian the menu offers excellent flavors that are essentially undistinguished from non-veggie food. Hamburgers are excellent as was the thai bowl...good assortment of foods with very helpful servers...dessert was good.. A change of pace for all...fun atmosphere...

Best Brunch 2018

By Mr. Francistein |

So this place....The Butcher's Daughter...pardon my spanish pero "Que pedo con esto, wei!?" If you like food...literally...anything here is top of the line. Most of the time I didn't even know what was going in my mouth but every friggin' bite was just pure joy. And I hate eating. I know that's weird for me to say, but I hate eating. I like 10 things and that's it, but this restaurant took me on a gastronomonic rollercoaster of delight and joy. We sat on the patio which I recommend because it's LA and everything looks awesome. The drinks were small, but I asked for a bigger glass and they got me one. We had amazing service with the manager coming over to ask if we were enjoying our food and the city and chatted a bit. Nice touch. The decor felt like I was in Sex and the City the Movie. I am trying to keep some of it a surprise cause you have to just go there and enjoy it. The vibe is unlike anything I've ever seen in a bruncheria.

Inclusive menu!

By Dayna |

I don't drink and this was the first and only place I've ever seen juice flights on the menu. I was so happy because I could order something while my friends got drinks and I didn't seem like the odd one out. Not that I ever care but it was just really nice to be able to order something fun and interesting. Other food options included vegan and alternative dishes, all delish!

Outstanding service, great food, lovely place.

By Greg D |

I have been to The Butchers Daughter a few times and the service is always great. On this visit we were sitting in the patio area. Our waiter was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. He was so welcoming, friendly and wasn’t one step ahead always ensuring that our needs were met. The gent bringing the food to us was very friendly too as was the host. Having just had a bad experience earlier at the awful ‘Shutters on the beach’ where the waiter had treated us terribly it was refreshing to come to ‘The Butchers Daughter’ and be shown how to treat customers with respect and kindness. Thank you, we will definitely be back and recommend you to our customers and colleagues. Great job.

Hands down the best place in Venice!

By LittleOasis |

Every single dish looks wonderful, the place is amazingly beautiful, the decoration in every corner matches the place. The service is great and quick, the waiter was always there for you. The quality of the food is very good and all of the menu looked tasty. Would come back without thinking it twice.

I Loved this place!

By brawn238 |

I pretend to be a vegetarian once in awhile... i was really happy with all the various dishes that my friend and i shared. Very creative thinking going into some of these recipes. A bit too laid back for a so called "dinner".... but a vibrant and tasty place...

Wonderful restaurant and lovely staff

By amira |

I came here Sunday night around 8pm for dinner, there was a wonderful live DJ playing great re-mixes and the restaurant was full but I didn't have to wait for a seat at the bar. The ravioli pasta was incredible!! I would like a larger selection of wine by the glass however it was such a fun dinner with incredible food, that's just a 'nice to have'. I will go back for sure - a wonderful restaurant and lovely staff. Amira rating: Feeling the love :D

Best Vegetarian/Vegan Brunch

By Emma N |

I’ve never seen so many fresh healthy drink options! Some of the ingredients (Chaga, cordyceps, reishi, lions mane) I didn’t even recognise but I was intrigued by the title of this particular drink (Mudwater), made of of such a strange concoction that I had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was actually really tasty. I also opted for a fresh ginger shot. Wow 😯 The zingy spicy hit was like eating a chilli! Loved it. I opted for the Crab Cake Benedict - obviously it wasn’t real crab but it tasted great with just the right amount of spice. Delish 🤤 My Dad had the Huevos Rancheros (which he last ate in Texas) and he was not disappointed. It looked amazing. Service was swift and friendly. Great vibe and very busy at 10am on a Sunday morning. Loved the casually decorated interior and there’s also a lovely outside seating area. I wish there was a cafe like this back in my home town. I’d be there all of the time. Fab find!

Mouthwatering meal with surprise upcharge for dairy-free option

By DebMDR |

Enjoyed the flavorful vegan cauliflower "t-bone" with a mouthwatering sweet and spicy sauce, ordered to-go style. Upcharge for dairy free option was a birthday surprise.

I rarely pick a veggie option, BUT

By Jeff H |

I rarely pick a veggie option at a restaurant - but this place is fantastic. The sandwich I had made me weak in knees. And great coffee too!

Very nice vegetarian restaurant

By Roshy P |

Very nice vegetarian restaurant in Venice. We tried their juice, waffle and breakfast burrito. My waffle had a delicious whipped coconut milk on top. The place also makes homemade bread... super yummy

When vegetarian and vegan is done well

By ADXBS |

Really enjoyed our dinner with the vegetarian Pad Thai being our favorite but all the other dishes were exceptionally tasty and well presented. Friendly and fast service.

Great place to meet

By OCDane |

Nice place - very cozy and friendly. It is a vegan place. Server was great, wine glasses seems small, but also not as expensive as other places.

Veggie heaven

By Strozzapreti |

Every dish in this restaurant is both suitable for vegetarians and delicious. So take your veggie friends, and they'll thank you profusely. It can get very crowded, and I don't think I would make a trip from one end of Los Angeles to Venice Beach just for this place, but I would make every effort to go if you are close to the coast.

Small portions, insincere staff

By David W |

The green curry was very delicious and we highly recommend it. The portion of pasta is tiny and you will leave the restaurant feeling hungry. The solution to the small portion according to staff is to simply buy another main course! The staff are incredibly insincere in their “friendliness”.

Summer Vacation

By Wes G |

Great food great atmosphere! Went with our daughters and they were able to accommodate our food allergies with excellent options and fabulous flavors! Good work!

Great vegetarian place

By TrueHotelReview |

We stopped here after a walk along Venice Beach and really enjoyed it. We hadn’t booked but got a table within a few minutes. Service was friendly but a bit erratic as it was so busy. The decor is quite cool too. We really enjoyed the mushroom pizza. The Mac n cheese was delicious as well. We were there during happy hour so wine was $7 a glass. All in, with coffees as well, it was around $50 which was worth it.

The atmosphere!

By MsOzz |

I loved sitting by the bar, watching the barman create his drinks with the most wonderful flavours. As it was very busy when I was there, Saturday night, it took a while to get my farmers market with cashew cheese pizza so I got some kale chips to munch on. They were awesome. Loved being here. Probably a great place for a date or with friends, so much you’d like to talk about :)

Brunch with a personality

By Leonardo B |

A lot of restaurants offer brunch but all the do is cook some basics and serve in the morning. Not the case here. Even the scrambled eggs had a very distinctive taste and nothing in the menu is left to chance. On top of that, service is great and the location is awesome.

Delightful

By dziran |

Took vegetarian friends from Germany here for a post wedding visit to LA. This place is wonderful. The food was very good even for a non vegetarians. Great selection of beers for the ethnic German. A great mix in all for an eclectic group. Sophisticated and hip in a vibrant area of west LA.

Poser's Paradise

By OnlyMyThought |

If you like to pose like a Californian posing like well like, like I don’t know. This is the place for you. Leaving one’s name with an outside host and hostess to be texted when a table is ready, only to be told after much time has passed that a text was sent but “Oh, we must have texted the wrong number”, was not the best start. It is a most popular vegetarian place. Why? I don't know. The food is not spectacular. The Butcher’s burger, which is apparently vegetarian but looks like meat, is in fact exactly that. Don't expect it to taste like meat. Soups and salads are OK, and the pizzas looked good (we didn't try any) though the view (depending where you are seated) of industrial size cans being opened near the back door of the kitchen is not quite the freshness I expected. The service was pleasant yet there isn't a warm welcome to the place. Perhaps they could tell I was not Californian or even worse, a carnivore. The NYC restaurants are better.

Very cute eatery!

By TennisgalGreenBay_WI |

Very cute eatery with a great vibe. Got an open air table. Ordered some juice, which came in cute glass bottles. Daughter got the Surfers Burrito....looked very yummy. She said it was a little dry, tho. Husband got the crab Sandwich. I got the mushroom calamari, which were delicious along with the sauce that came with it. The servers were very friendly and the place was very clean.

Lovely restaurant but pricey and slow service

By CLDC16 |

I have wanted to visit The butcher’s Daughter for a while & on a trip to LA I finally got a chance! Not too far from Venice Beach, this place has a beautiful interior and fits the trendy healthy vibe that has been taking LA and LDN by storm. I ordered the kale ceasar salad, my husband a pizza and we both enjoyed our food. I had a glass of “bubbles” too which was refreshing and tasted good. However, I am a big fan of places like the Butcher’s Daughter and have been to a few. We had the good fortune of happening upon happy hour so our bill was reasonable but I can’t imagine how costly it must be otherwise. Also, although friendly, the service from the waiting staff was sloooow. The waitress was sweet but served other people before us who had been sat down after us. She even said she’d be right with us before serving them instead! Kitchen service was swift though and we didn’t wait long for food. On the whole, a good feel but I’d have felt put out if was paying full price considering the slow service.

Great for vegetarians!

By Recent_TravelerCinci |

The food here is amazing! We have eaten at this restaurant every time we are in the Venice Beach area and it never disappoints. I had the surfers breakfast and added black beans and it was delicious!

Bit of hype but still worth a go!

By SashaM93 |

I had read that this was a great spot for an all-day brunch menu and it didn't disappoint. It was clearly a cafe that had become an Instagrammers metropolis, so that was quite funny to observe, and also made the front desk staff a little bit up themselves. However, once seated our server was really pleasant and efficient, and the food was really yummy! We had the avocado on toast and pancakes, both of which were delicious. I also had the most delectable gluten-free peanut butter cookie.

Vegetarian restaurant and nice place to eat.

By wilmavangrinsven |

Vegetarian restaurant with nice dishes and friendly staff. Located in nice shopping street. Too bad a glass of wine has to be so extremely expensive.

Good for what it is

By Nahi |

First off, to be fair, I went there craving a burger which I realize is complete mistake on my part. In comparison to another vegetarian restaurant, it was better, but not my style of place at all - though it was very busy and everyone else seemed to really enjoy it. One thing though, why do all these vegetarian restaurants insist on calling their menu items names that sound like meat?? just call them what they are! If you're a vegetarian, I would assume reading "pork" or "beef patty" on a menu doesn't really ring your bell no? Anyway, if you're looking for a vegetarian place, this is one of the good ones apparently.

Amazing restaurant

By AnneFi |

Great restaurant in the beginning of Abbott Kinney. Super menu, tasty foods and excellent service. The food is meant for sharing and gives you great choices. Waiting time about 20 mins, there is a bar where you van wait.

Underwhelmed at Breakfast

By Brian M |

Tried the Surfer's Breakfast, which promised "black bean mole," but turned out to be an ordinary burrito with egg, beans and a little potato. My daughter, who used to live in Mexico City, was disappointed in this Daughter's idea of mole. Sweetened with light maple syrup, buckwheat pancakes with banana slices, walnuts and "coconut anglaise" tasted healthy. Drip coffee could have been more robust. Mexico Cacao Elixer in a small glass jar was delicious—just beware of the cayenne. Hashed browns looked tempting, but we didn't try them or the wide array of fresh juices. Got to give them credit for offering strictly vegetarian fare in this high-rent neighborhood, but based on the place's impressively artful looks and the menu prices, we expected more. Note: it's vegetarian, not vegan, although vegan options are available.

The Butcher’s Daughter learned how to cook without meat!

By JoeKupe |

The Butcher’s Daughter is a hip vegetarian (and they can make their items vegan as well) spot on Venice’s well travelled Abbot Kinney Blvd. We were five for dinner and although we all ordered our own items we did lots of sharing. We ordered a few salads/small plates plus two pizzas. The small plates and salads were eaten quickly (the white bean hummus was a standout) and the Impossible Sausage pizza with Burrata was the favored item of the evening. Several of us mentioned we’d try Impossible Sausage on other items too. The Mushroom Pizza was not as big as a hit, but we all loved the light airy crust on both pizzas. Upon paying out we were given souvenir postcards and of course I asked for a few extras as I knew our nephew would enjoy getting them in the mail!

Not Comfortable

By BobAndRenee54 |

The broccolini was delicious. The Kale Caesarean Salad tasted good but the kale had lots of stems that made it difficult to eat & the bread crumbs made you feel like you were eating sand. There were no toilet seat covers in the restrooms, the seating was uncomfortable (little hard stools and benches on top of each other, so that whenever the people behind you moved it felt like an earthquake), the waitress never came by to check on us and the ambiance was very noisy.

Beyond Trend, But Yesterday Still Here

By PlatinumHoney |

When you are so busy being today’s trend with all the healthy concoctions of drinks designed to imbue all sorts of benefits and food to match, hard to believe can still do the yesterday cappuccino (not on the menu, but asked and delivered), very good despite the seeming lack of practice, and a delicious apple danish. Old school under wraps. Could do without the metal water goblets...just doesn’t taste fresh (or healthy for that matter) to drink the nicely bottled and mint flavored water on the table from these. Nice industrial vibe in the heart of Venice shopping.

Passable address near Venice Beach

By Clorinthe |

Friendly address for lunch near Venice Beach with varied cuisine. Award correct for location. However, there is a lot of waiting if you do not book. During high attendance, they do not take the credit card (without warning or even a word on the door...) and the avocado toast is very spicy while it is not specified on the card (I cannot eat spicy). Conclusion: this is a troubleshooting address, but you can find much better in the same neighborhood!!

Nice find for breakfast

By myles c |

Great place for a quiet breakfast. Nice ambiance and good service. Specialty coffee and breakfast biscuit (for $10) which were both very good. Nice background music

Recommend especially for breakfast and pastries.

By traveler5005 |

Have dietary restrictions and found this place on line. Courteous staff. Allergy conscious and accommodating. Tasty food including vegan chocolate chip cookies. Not sure if it is a chain but did not feel like a chain (a plus).

Very Good Food and Efficient Service

By Robert58213 |

My family and I visited this restaurant, and I was a bit skeptical of the menu (as I am not a vegetarian). However, we enjoyed the food very much -- particularly the macaroni & cheese and delicious pizza. We visited late on a Sunday night, and the restaurant was busy. However, the service was efficient, and the food prepared quickly. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Butcher's Daughter.

ceo

By marc bob |

just bought food from there. good quality at prices that leave a large profit to owner. it is not fair on TO GO 1- to charge sales tax 2. to charge us a health tax( to be paid by owner) 3. to ask us to put tip 20% TO GO. hope they will change since none of these charges are mandatory.

Great place for a vegetarian meal

By Smi230 |

We came for dinner whilst visiting Venice beach. The restaurant was very busy but we had to only wait a few minutes for a table. I loved the decor . The staff are very friendly and the food was excellent. The vegan ice was amazing. We would come back .

Moderate food with a rip off

By Sam0070 |

Had breakfast here. Food was ok - not really difficult to get an Avo Toast together. Service ok as well. Setting is nice. However, prices are way too high, they even charge you for the staff‘s health insurance. That‘s just off!

Excellent

By MellieX |

I'm not a vegetarian but this restaurant was fantastic, I ate there twice and the food was delicious. The décor is great and the staff even better! I had a wonderful experience at this establishment. The only negative is the stools at the dining tables, they are uncomfortable and not conducive to a relaxed evening. I'm pleased to hear that they will soon get a spirit license, which was sadly missed by me!

Incredible brunch

By Jason Dyba |

The açaí bowl was one of the best I’ve ever had. The avocado toast was as good as I’d hoped (note: a half order is a single bread slice; full is 2 slices). The waffle was okay; a bit too heavy and sugary for my taste. The flight of juices was good.

Beautiful discovery

By annelabelge |

Just a treat, healthy and tasty food, nice service, nice atmosphere, remember to book because it is a popular place

Love, love this place!

By Helen B |

This is a dream come true for a vegetarian/vegan! There are lots of great choices in both foods and beverages. I started with a flight of the heritage juices ( #'s 5,7, & 9 were my favorites). The kale salad was spectacular, with great flavors and just the right amount of crunch and sweetness. My family member loved the mushroom pizza, and tried 1/2 with vegan cheese. There was plenty of cheeses and the crust was perfect.

Excellent quality food

By kaushal-s-shah |

Great vegan options. Lovely ambience and good service. Healthy food. A must go. Tried the avacado toast

Hungry for quick meal

By Dharmadji5 |

It was recommended by my daughter and she had been there a few times. With the name of ‘Butchers’ never though of vegetarian place. A bit apprehensive I ordered fried artichoke w sambal. Others had Beet hamburger and surfer’s burrito. Well the artichoke was sensational, w drizzle of sambal was to perfection!! I’d return for that particular item!! While the surfer’s burrito was also delicious. Well done

should try the butchers brother maybe

By Richard |

the soggiest pizza, the worst pad thai, really good artichokes. other dishes were solo. way over priced. would never go there again or recommend it to anybody that i liked.

Check it out even if you’re not vegetarian

By Nowra_Australia |

I was recommended to check the restaurant out by a local. I LOVE the kale chips!!! Quick service, I was very impressed with that! Great ambience. I don’t think my photos did the food justice. My main was the one with warm farro, mushroom dashi broth and maitake mushrooms. It was delicious too!

One of our favourite restaurants during our US holidays

By Marco V |

This place was just perfect for our lunch on our way to Venice Beach. First of all the place is just beautiful, service was quick and friendly. But let's get to the food: we tried different Impossible Burgers during our US trip, but the one at the Butcher's Daughter was definitely the best we had. If we sum this with an amazing caramel cookie as a dessert, then this place definitely deserves the highest possible rating.

Brunch

By katinka87 |

Very nice place, the food is super delicious and fresh! The benedict egg, the green smothies are delicious! In this restaurant you will see that meet is a side

Brilliant!

By JoDubaiUae |

We’re not vegetarians but we enjoy tasty vegetarian food. We tend to avoid vegetarian restaurants that seem obliged to present themselves with a nerdy image. This is absolutely not one of those places. The staff make this place lively and fun - they were without exception great ambassadors for vegetarian food which was tasty, imaginative and hugely enjoyable. Despite not having a reservation our number was taken and we got a message within 30 minutes. Got seated at the bar and had a great evening

Loved this place - amazing warm buttermilk scones!

By Jaye J |

We loved it here! Great choice, great service, and the BEST warm buttermilk scone (biscuits) we’ve ever had! Make sure you go!

Absolutely banging

By CazzaG369 |

The Boardwalk at Venice Beach can leave quite a perplexing first impression - a dirty sensory overload that appears pretty unsafe. Enter Abbot Kinney, a street a few blocks back and an absolute MUST for foodies, or anyone with a bit of class. What a banging, stylish precinct that completely changed my perception of VB. Butcher’s Daughter was super accommodating with my rather large suitcase (was meeting a mate on the way to the airport) and I can’t fault the place. It was happy hour when we go there and the waitress reminded me 2 minutes before it finished in case we wanted to get more drinks or food. The decor is stunning - sophisticated and comfortable, but still very laid back. The local kolsch and Californian wines I tried were all sensational. I hear it’s run by Aussies, so that’s another BIG plus!

I'd eat here everyday if I could:)

By Fabbie |

In a city where there are so many options to get good food, The Butcher's Daughter really impressed me. Good selection of Vegan/Vegetarian food. The menu is impressive, the decor simple and eclectic. The most amazing, friendly and patient staff. We didn't have a reservation, however the hostess took our number and called us to inform us the table was ready in exactly 10 mins. She was hospitable and friendly. The lovely and professional lady serving our table, Hannah, was amazing, patient and is a real asset to this establishment. The food was delicious and the variety was very good. If I lived in LA, I would definitely be a frequent visitor:)

not recommend

By Dima Biserov |

Would not recommend long service The food is all average and tasteless. not even an omelet or pancake, a US classic. I don't recommend it in general. I was fooled by the reviews and the interior, don't do what I did.

Worst coffee in LA

By Omar K |

The reviews made it seem like Butcher's Daughter Cafe served up some of the greatest coffee, and as I hail from Melbourne, Australia, home to what many consider to be the best coffee in the world, I had high hopes for my visit. I asked for an oat milk latte, but they were out, so I substituted almond milk; the coffee was scorched and bitter, making it one of the worst cups of coffee I've ever had. As the owner of several cafes, I speak from experience. The food menu has a contemporary slant. Popular dishes we all know have a modern twist to them; however, I was discouraged from ordering the food based on the coffee experience. The music was so loud that it was difficult to conduct a meeting. If you want to do some work or have a business meeting, this is not the place to settle to do it. The total for two coffees came to $15, but for what you receive, it wasn't worth it. If you love a great coffee and an environment where you can conversewithout yelling over the music, there are many options nearby.

Not living up to the hype!

By Janice2007 |

Visited last night (on a Friday), place was buzzing and had a really nice feel. Only waited half an hour for a table and the service was pretty quick. Waiting staff all really nice as well. The food however was just okay... Maybe we chose the wrong things though. Between us we had mac’n’cheese which was okay, a kale and pine nut pizza which was okay and my friend chose the garden vegetable pizza which came without any vegetables. This was a communication error I think as the market vegetable on the pizza was sweet potato which was apparently soaked in vinegar (!?!) and as my friend has a vinegar allergy they brought the pizza without the veg. This left her with a lemon and cheese pizza - a bit of a strange one. Had the waitress told us there was an issue with the market vegetables, she would have changed her order. That said the waitress made good by taking the cost off the bill. No complaints about the restaurant, it was okay but probably underwhelming and I’ve had much better veggie food.

Good veggie restaurant on Venice Beach

By L.Lamas |

The idea of 100% vegetarian is pretty good. The veggie burger was good as well as the pizza for the children. The correct price we will say for the neighborhood

Amazing lunch spot!

By Kimberly Lopez |

I first heard of The Butcher's Daughter in New York when it was suggested. The second time it was suggested it was in Venice, California. Once we arrived to the location there was a 30-45 minute wait. We had no problem to wait while we shopped around.I recommend to make reservations. Time flew and before we knew it we had already sat down. We didn't sit at the bar but rather a U stool where the barista was.The decoration of this place was very pleasant. All white with greenery that made this place feel clean. The server was very busy but we still got good service. The detail on the infused mint in the water bottle was just the beginning of great food and beverage, I had the mimosa flight that was creative with all pressed natural juices. My favorite was passion fruit. My friend had a delicious bloody mary with tequila. For the meals I went with the Recharge bowl with roasted brussels sprouts, kale, red quinoa and I added avocado on mine. OMG this was the best and healthiest meal of my vacation! I took a bite of my friends veggie burger and this was out the world! Super dope spot I recommend to anyone even if your not vegetarian you will have a nice experience trying the concept!

Beautiful decor, disappointing food

By Amanda Ellis |

Although this place is beautiful and the service is friendly, the foods fails to meet these standards unfortunately. Rather disappointing overall.

Beautiful

By CatherineCruz |

Beautiful place, good service, a few expensive but good food. For me, it look just a little small the plates that we need for a lunch, and considering that I really though a little overpriced but that taste is good.

The greatest

By TamEliSha |

I visited this place twice during my holiday in de LA area with my parents. We are all vegetarians so it was truly a dream come true. Really nice ambiance, the kindest staff and really good food. A bit expensive.

Vegetarian heaven

By cgood243 |

So nice to be able to eat anything on the menu! Do not miss the Cauliflower Cacio Pepe! Other faves were the Mushroom Calamari, Mushroom Pizza, and “Carbonara” pasta. We were a large party and were seated in a private room with a living wall and fireplace. A lovely evening with family.

Best brunch in abbot kinney

By JM27S |

Had to come back to this restaurant. The vibe is very cool and the food amazing. We had some brunch dishes and a kale pizza which was amazing. It has an open area to abbot kinney which allows you to be inside but still have a view of this ecletic street.Coffee is not my favorite but good. Will be back for sure.

delicious

By catmalways4ever |

ambience is bar none.. upscale farmhouse style. food is delicious, vegan options available. great spot for lunch/brunch.

Good for breakfast and lunch

By Jef V |

Very nicely decorated place. Light, fresh and open. Food is nice and especially for healthy meals you go to the right spot here.

ZERO service

By Saori |

I was in Santa Monica for my short vacation just a few days ago. I was exploring Abbott Kinney area and looking for a nice place to have lunch. This place has great reviews for food and service so I decided to drop by. I went in and it was very busy inside. Fortunately I got a seat at a counter right away as I was on my own. Soon after I sat, server - white guy came over and just put a bottle of water and an empty glass in front of me and just gave me the menu. No particular greeting. About five mins later, the server came back and I ordered one cocktail and a salad. I waited about 10mins and food came first, I told a food runner my drink has not come here yet. Then right after my drink came. I was there for 30/40mins overall and the server never come back for quality check and even when he was taking my plate away. I asked the bill and it was $37. I left $50 with no change. The server looked at me and smiled at me. He probably did not expect me to leave the good tip as he thought I am just an Asian girl who is ESL and does not know how to leave tip. As I was leaving, this guy finally said thank you to me. That was very first time I heard his thank you to me for my entire stay at the restaurant. In addition to that, just before I was leaving, there was a white guy sat next to me. Same server - white guy went over to him right away and greeted and started to explain about their menu which he did not do that with me. All he did with me was taking one drink and one food order. No explanation about their menu not even proper greeting. He probably just assumed I do not speak or understand English very well. I have lived in Canada for 9 years and work at a hotel. I have no problem communicating in English. My conclusion for this place is their service may be very good for white customers but not for Asian, especially solo diner. I have never ever felt being treated differently this obvious at a restaurant. Not even in Canada. This is incredibly horrible unpleasant and disappointing restaurant experience. I will never ever come back anyway as I live in Canada. If you are Asian and ESL, I strongly suggest not to go to this racist restaurant. Perhaps you should take Caucasian so you will get “good service” otherwise all you get is an unpleasant, upset and insulted experience.

Very nice and cozy vegetarian restaurant in Venice. We booked a lunch during our weekend visit to Los Angeles and it was a lunch we enjoyed so much! They serve healthy but very tasty food, really among the best ever eaten! We ordered a tacos and an Avocado toast (with eggs in addition) both very good and the portions are in our opinion “very” plentiful, we are not big eaters but we could have had lunch with only one of the two dishes, only they were so good that we obviously ran out of them! For our lunch with water and 1 beer we spent $65.

A Veggie Dream

By Christopher C |

We had a great experience at this fun and inventive eatery. The menus is filled with delicious vegetarian options that are inventive and filled with a variety of flavours. We had a few of their fresh and festive bowls. We’ll be back for more.

Trendy and Tasty wrapped up in one

By jess darke |

The Butcher's Daughter is a vegetarian restaurant. They serve mainly plant-based dishes but also offer cheese and items made with egg and/or dairy. You can request vegan. The Butcher's Daughter has some playful menu options like "crab" cakes and Pad Thai as well as more traditional items, cue the Kale Salad and Mac & Cheese. Beer and wine are also served. This can be a great date spot!

Deceptive pricing full of surcharges

By 601nick |

I really wanted to like this place. Great location. But was deeply annoyed at the deceptive pricing. They slap a surcharge on the bill after the fact for employee health care. This is a business expense like any other and should be reflected in their prices. It's not about the money it's about deceptive pricing. I don't want to see an extra 10 dollars added to my bill (and then tax and tip calculated on top of that) because a restaurant wants to pretend that its prices are lower than they actually are. What's next? A surcharge for "employee wages?" For "environmentally friendly waste disposal?" And sure you can probably ask for the charge to be removed. Like anyone wants to tell their server - someone handling your food - that you want them to do extra work on your bill and don't want to pay for their healthcare. Beyond obnoxious

Solid vegetarian place even for non vegetarian

By somethingeneric |

We wandered off Venice boardwalk into Abbot Kinney. My husband wanted to try this popular vegetarian restaurant. The restaurant is really pretty and trendy. The food was good but small portions. At the end, we both enjoyed our meals!

Visit whenever I am in Venice

By Nora W |

I try to visit The Butcher’s Daughter whenever I am in the area, every few weeks. I’m usually there for late breakfast or lunch. I’ve been lucky not having to wait to eat outside where dogs are welcome. I had the açaí bowl today because I want something refreshing on a hot summer day and was pleased. I’ve had this light and healthy dish there before. I’ve had the kale Caesar in the past and really liked that as well. I’ve eyed the coffee martini but haven’t had a chance to have one. One thing to note is the seating outside is rustic…you are either at a table with a bench or a stool ie no backs. The service is very good, nice and friendly and my server looked familiar which is nice to see. Fingers crossed they’ll open a location in Pasadena, CA one day .

Plant based cuisine that will wow meateaters!

By mrs_un0 |

I was simply blown away by the brunch at The Butcher's Daughter. From their coffees, smoothies to the amazing "calamari", and their brunch offerings this place hits the spot. Beautifully decorated and great service added the cherry on top.

Give it a pass

By Claire622 |

Not worth the hype. I was expecting something more interesting, and the server was definitely less than pleasant. Would not recommend

Delicious!

By VanIsleMonkey |

Delicious! I came here with a group of 8 and we only had to wait for maybe 29 minutes for a table. Such a cozy, contemporary atmosphere. We were all very impressed with the interior! None of us had anything bad to say about the menu! Everything was fresh and delicious! Some girls in my group enjoyed a veggie burger, while others enjoy jets pizza and salads. I enjoyed the Spicy Kale Caesar Salad and I added tofu to it. This might have been the best kale Caesar I’ve ever had! Fair price for portion sizes. I’m so glad we tried this spot out!

Vegetarian Restaurants in LA

We thought we were eating meat. And oh surprise no steak in burgers. We stayed and found these healthy burgers pretty good. The setting is very nice and we had a great time.

Great Veggie and Vegan food

By Jaime G |

Wonderful food and great staff. So so so good I can’t express how good this restaurant is . The kebab and the impossible burger were amazing . Totally worth the visit .

Cool vegetarian restaurant

By Limor W |

Went for brunch and had an avocado toast and Eggs Benedict. Nice vibe. Can be a long wait but they will take your phone number and will text you when your take is ready. Nice juice options ( but on the pricy side)

Brunch

By CaymanGreg |

Went for brunch and had a great time. We ordered 4 dishes and several sides, all were delicious - though the bean bacon was not quite what we expected. Overall I will be going again when back in the area. Service was awesome from everyone who touched our table. We had to wait for a table but we went in high time on a Saturday so not surprising

Great Quality Veggie and Vegan

By Mike G Bold |

We had a really nice breakfast here - the patties were awesome alongside scambled eggs. Really good.

Definitely avoid this place!

By Legend |

I very disorganized place with horrendous service and really poor food. We were greeted by a poorly dressed host that wasn't friendly or helpful at all. Shet had a line of people because she didn't seat the tables efficiently obviously wasn't suited for the job. There were many vacant tables when we arrived and when we were seated after 35 mins there were many vacant tables around us for the duration of our meal. We ordered a Mango Lassi, which wasn't available, we ordered a Brazilian Blast or something like that which wasn't available. We then ordered another green drinks. Although it looked good when it arrived, a green milky icee like thing with desiccated coconut on top, it tased nothing like any of the promised ingredients. It was tasted like a watery mess. We ordered the burger and for $15 it was extremely disappointing. Tasteless and left us with upset stomachs. We also ordered a rosemary hash brown, which was decent. Our waitress was slow, not very helpful and obviously wasn't listening when I ordered as I asked the green drink with the milk option and she said, so you want it with coconut water. I said no, the milk and she repeated, coconut water. She finally got it right after 3 requests for the milk option. We ate at 3.30pm on a Monday and they were only offering brunch, which was also bothersome. The only good thing was the food runner. She was efficient, pleasant and helpful. Don't believe the hype. This place is definitely not Wirth visiting.

Top notch vegetarian fare!

By Greig B |

Trendy Venice eatery on Abbott Kinney boulevard that does great quality vegetarian food, craft beer and good wines. Young hip crowd mainly but still caters for groups and over 50’s like me!

Great vibe for lunch !

By Redsetter |

Really nice vegan vibe …. Reasonably priced, ! food lovely, margaritas lovely ….. a rare commodity in Venice beach …. It felt safe …. Again rare in Venice beach …. Beware the prices on Abbott Kinney …😫🤯😵‍💫 crazy place …..

Cool place and good food

By Petter Pablo S |

We had a really good breakfast. The portions are good and we shared two breakfast dishes and the waffles (try them!). Service was exceptionally nice and the place really cool. Loved it.

Worth it

By itsBG |

Good service. Interesting food options. Tasty. Quirky atmosphere. Reasonably priced especially during happy hour. Worth a try

Soooo over priced & not worth it!

By Toast2012 |

We came here as I had seen a few bloggers go and as a restaurant its super cool place so Boho and cool. The food however not so much! The orange juice was amazing I think it was orange and carrot but $10! Then I had eggs on sourdough and kale and some vegan bacon... Well the eggs where lovely, kale was yellowy green so not fresh and not nice at all the sour dough was cold and not toasted at all. The bacon was vial! The chai latte took maybe 20 minutes to come after having to send back as it was wrong, it was coffee. That and a breakfast burrito came to a whopping $75! Totally rip off and not worth it. Gutted!

Expensive, Crowded - But Worth It

By Twins That Travel |

The Butcher's Daughter has received a lot of hype on social media and naturally we couldn't resist stopping by when we visited Venice Beach. We were advised to arrive early to bag a table and managed to get a seat outside, on the veranda. With pretty dappled light shining through and views of one of LA's coolest streets - Abbot Kinney Blvd - The Butcher's Daughter certainly has a great setting. The plant based menu was inventive and looked delicious, although fairly expensive. We shared two dishes and a juice. The food was great, but probably didn't warrant the price tag. However, if you're used to LA prices, it probably seems reasonable. Visit on a sunny Saturday morning for brunch and watch as the world passes you by.

Nice atmosphere, food was not great

By Asro1971 |

We loved the atmosphere of this restaurant, but unfortunately the food had a strange taste. There are better vegetarian restaurants. Also sitting on a small stool is not very comfortable. Waiter was friendly.

Butcher's Daughter impresses

By Kim S |

Excellent cocktails food and service. Vegan at its finest. Enjoyed sitting outside with the world going by. Would definitely go again

Cute but over-hyped.

By Shayna |

We were so excited to try this place as we are a vegan and vegetarian family of 5. It was cute and the servers were warm and welcoming. I had a cold pressed juice that knocked my socks off... however the meal did not. We got a vegan and a regular pizza, the pesto pasta, a veggie burger and the goat cheese pasta. They were all okay but nobody was thrilled with the food. We agreed for the hype and the price it just was not worth it. We love to support vegetarian places but this one just did not do it for us.

Cool place

By annemaBirmingham |

Nice settings with a soft green arrangement. A DJ, at least on sundays, plenty of choice from Katchapouri to avocado toast. Good music. Good service. I enjoyed. Good valet service.

Don’t go here

By Stacey P |

This place was terrible. The service was absolutely atrocious, and two out of four of us had to run to the bathroom immediately after breakfast because our stomach felt so sick. Keep walking past this place don’t even go in.

Vegan friendly spot that originally started in NYC

By Shanelle |

Vegan friendly popular spot on Abbot Kinney. Came here to grab drinks with a couple of friends on a Monday evening. Street parking available. Indoor and heated outdoor seating available. Reservations accepted. We all tried the mudwater which comes with chaga mushrooms and cocoa, which made for a warm, cozy drink. We didn’t have food this go-around but they have various shareable plates and also have a good mix of options. Service is really slow but they’re nice. The place is super aesthetic and you can definitely get a nice shot for Instagram here.

Amazing amazing food and great vibe

By Hannahfay123 |

We had he coconut yoghurt and the breakfast bouritto both were amazing. Lovely decor inside too just make sure you allow your self time for a wait

Healthy, Light & Delicious - we'll be back!

By Sally H |

We LOVED the Butcher's Daughter for midweek brunch. Arriving at c.11:30 on a Thursday, we waited only 15 minutes for a table. The juices were wonderful - being overwhelmed by 16oz sugary servings, we took the opportunity to share a 4x4oz juice flight so we could enjoy more variety. The vegan BLT and breakfast burrito were both outstandingly delicious, served promptly. We loved the bright & airy venue too. The only criticism, if we could make one - is that the venue is such a cult favourite that a number of wannabe bloggers were more interested in taking pictures and moving to different parts of the restaurant to take staged photos, than they seemed to be in actually dining - this took something away from the authenticity of atmosphere but should not detract from a fully deserved 5-star review. If back in Venice, we would undoubtedly visit again.

Cute place, great for Vegetarians

By NicMoraXO |

The atmosphere is so cute!!! If you’re looking for a trendy vegetarian spot this is it. I loved the breakfast burrito. Kale Cesar was pretty decent. The service seemed a bit rushed and the waiter took things off of our table before asking, which I did not like. Other than that, pretty good overall experience.

Brunch in Venice

If you are vegetarian it’s one of the best place for brunch/lunch and also for a short coffee break Welcoming staff

Get a juice flight!

By Vicki A |

We were there for breakfast. There were a wide variety of items on the menu to satisfy those who want a light snack, like a scone, to those who want a full breakfast, like buckwheat pancakes or breakfast tacos. The smoothies and juices are healthy and delicious. I recommend a juice flight (four small glasses of your choosing).

Best vegan breakfast burrito ever!

By abarnes1 |

The breakfast burrito had amazing fake cheese. All was average pricing and the decor was just perfect. Staff were lovely. Would come back again and again.

Amazing brunch!

By tammykayly |

We were here for brunch : drinks and light food. The service was amazing! Our server was attentive. Food was amazing- fresh high quality vegetarian food. I had the mimosa flight that is served with their fresh cold press juice, which I highly recommend.

Good service

By Anna K |

A really nice place. Friendly staff, good food and IPA. The cheese plate is so good! And the pizza to. We didn’t have to wait to get seats in the afternoon. Highly recommend. No free WiFi though.

Favorite in LA

By Anamagnolia |

This is my favorite place in LA best location and delicious ! I love the juices and I tried all the menu always delicious !!

Cozy ambience

By Janus R |

Had the Surfer’s breakfast which was super tasty, my wife had the avocado sandwich which was quite plain. Shared the pancakes which were great! Topped up with smoothies. The place is beautiful and have a nice hipster character to it. Great service too 💪🏽

Archetypical vegetarian restaurant

By bbbbbqqqqq |

Very high quality vegetarian food. Service is not the quickest but it's not egregious. Do go here if you are looking for something other than giant steaks.

Nice restaurant

By Melechow |

The sandwiches are very good and reasonably priced. The orange juice is outrageously expensive though. The service is friendly and very authentic. The restaurant is beautifully decorated.

A come-back-to place even for a meatlover like me

By Thomashauk |

Been twice to Cali in 2018 and that means twice here too. Fresh food, creative recipies, and a wide range of things.

Could have been better

By Laura Z |

Great taste and quality but the menu was quite tiny and portions were a bit too small for the prices they charge. Is located in a residential area near Venice beach, maybe could have been a bit less expensive. Food is good though

Blown Away by the food and service

By SLVS-22 |

We cannot speak highly enough of our whole experience. Our waitress was phenomenal and our food was delicious. A bit pricey, but worth every penny. From smoothies and lattes, to pizza and cookies, we were all impressed with our meal!

Three times in three days!

By Heidi R |

We spent a three day weekend in Marina Del Ray, and ended up having lunch one day and breakfast the following two days. Excellent atmosphere, music, staff and outstanding food! Vegetarian and yummy! Best pad Thai we have ever had...

Best pizza!

By tessaroyal |

This is a vegetarian and vegan paradise! Mushroom Truffle oil pizza was split with half burratta and half vegan cheese. Was hands down the best pizza I have had! Also we tried a slice of the fig jam, pear and blue cheese pizza which was also delicious. Crudités were fresh and beautifully presented! I will be back.

This place rocks

By Jamie W |

We’ve been in Venice beach for just under a week and keep telling ourselves we need to try more restaurants but we keep ending back here for breakfast and dinner. Such a great menu, mushroom calamari is a 10/10. Please open one in Vancouver BC😁

they must have lost their minds

By GuidoKarp |

Love the place for years - and I am not vegetarian. I was unhappy with my most recent visit, though. First, 2% of the check were being added without even being told - let alone asked. OK. Then the place suggests a minimum tip of twenty percent - gotta understand, everything got more expensive these days. I understand: the meal gets more expensive - then the staff gets more tips as the check gets higher. But I do not want to spoil the game; I give twenty percent. Then, on the check, the restaurant suggests tipping even more. C'mon, guys, things get more expensive for me too - and I still have the same paycheck. As much as I like the place - and accept the attitude they show at times - this is horrible customer service.

Fresh choice

By Terry S |

Vegetarian/vegan gourmet breakfast for all tastes. Fresh healthy choices and great meat substitutes. Coffee, tea and juices are great too.

Wow, this place rocks!

By RickD774 |

Great food, served hot and fast! The place is packed with people and good energy! staff were over the top nice and all of our food was delicious.

Original, healthy and delicious

By Faker |

Ideal place for a healthy lunch contrasting with the various restaurants usually encountered in a US trip. Also good place to change someone’s mind about vegetarian dishes. As the restaurant is heavily frequented by both tourists and locals, you might have to wait or book a table (don’t know if it’s possible tho)

Lovely breakfast/brunch spot

By eastontravel709 |

We were recommended here by local friends and really glad we went. Great spot and even better food with lovely decor and vibe. Definitely recommend!

Out of towners - 100% must!

By erinp958 |

Yogurt bowl was life changing! So good! Avo toast was great and the Brussels bowl was exactly what you need for a boost! Coffee also great. All around great place

Good burgers and amazing fries

By Charity Connolly |

The restaurants is in fast food style. You have few option for the burgers in which you can add ingredients as you like. The food comes out quickly and well presented.

Amazing LA lunch!

By MarthaWK |

We arrived to LAX and decided to drive over to The Butcher’s Daughter for lunch to get in the California vibe. They have delicious cocktails and menu items. We had the burrata for an appetizer and then salads & pizza. All were delicious! And the neighborhood is a great place to stroll & shop, especially after sitting on a plane.

Cool vibe with okay service

By Melody G |

Very busy restaurant and a cool vibe. Servers were pretty laid back and not the most attentive or they were perhaps short staffed so not sure. All vegetarian restaurant so don’t expect to find any meat!! I would suggest reservations.

The decor was the best part

By Iulia (Yu-lee-ya) |

My friend and I flew into LAX around 10am but couldn't check into our airbnb till about 3-4pm so we decided to walk around Venice Beach and enjoy the beautiful weather. But of course, we had to eat and none of the spots on the boardwalk sparked our interest so we looked a bit further and that is when we found The Butcher's Daughter on yelp. The pictures of their decor were enough for us to walk about 10 minutes from the beach to give them a try. Upon entrance, we were greeted by a friendly hostess and immediately seated at the bar which we didn't complain about since we were pretty hungry. There was one bartender working the bar, as well as other employees running in and out of the bar area; yet nobody said hello for a good 7 minutes and we didn't get water for another 10 minutes. Once the bartender paid some attention to us, we were ready to order and we went for the following: Mezcal Minded (cocktail), Yellow Juice, Spicy Kale Caesar salad and Dolce Picante pizza. My cocktail was too damn strong but I assume some people may appreciate that. The Yellow Juice was pretty good as it was very refreshing and a great combo of pineapple, jicama and lemon. I didn't taste the salad, but my friend claims to have liked it. My pizza was a good size and didn't taste bad at all. What threw me off while sitting at the bar is that one of the employees was adding coconut flakes to a drink with her BARE hands. Umm no, thank you! Absolutely loved the decor of this place though. Super cute and instagram-able if it wasn't for all those people lol.

Heavy traffic

By Avikoo |

A very nice vegan breakfast restaurant the dishes are big and tasty try the spicy kale salad with avocado the only problem is that place is crowded we wait 45 min for a table

Yummy food and great service!

By Mayi Barov |

Yummy food and great service! I love the decoration. It’s a perfect place for brunch/lunch and awesome drinks!

The juice flight is a must. The atmosphere is relaxing. Very friendly service! The Matcha was fantastic. I plan to return soon.

Good alternative in LA

By Cristina García |

Wonderful place, atmosphere and food on Boulevard. The letter depends on the arrival time (we arrive at 4 pm). We ordered the Caesar salad + pizza white. All very rich.

Nice

By Iragn |

Went with friends and had lunches. We got good service and good food. Great decor and friendly staff

Average

By Alexis |

Full disclosure, we are not vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free. We didn’t do our research and thought this must be a steak restaurant when our friends recommended it. Boy were we surprised! We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching all of the craft cocktails being made. Ordered the mixed mushroom pizza and the Mac and Cheese - both were tasty. I don’t plan on returning next time I am in Santa Monica. Don’t think the restaurant meets the hype that comes with it. Felt out of place and not a welcoming vibe.

Delicious breakfast

By Elizabeth P |

My daughter and I were looking for a delicious vegetarian restaurant for breakfast and this definitely fit the bill. The food was delicious, and the service was super friendly.

I LOVE IT

By DebbieDowney |

I'm from Italy and i found out this place during my last vacation. I love it! I love the place and the staff was really kind. I had breakfast and diner there. Try them they are great!

Salads are delicious

By Ally B |

We had one of the salads here and some wine and the experience was awesome! It’s right in Santa Monica , and they do have a great selection of healthy food here. This restaurant is beautiful and would be a great place for a date or with friends. We will be back for sure .

Almost everything has an egg on it!!!

By Cristina García |

Beware when going around lunch/brunch time during the weekend. If you’re not up for eating eggs there’s little choice form that menu. But if you do want your morning eggs, then great place to be. Also different healthy options. Classic avocado toast. Fresh juices and non dairy lattes.

Beautiful

By Hgtravl |

Such a beautifulllllllll place! From the outside to the inside, such a stunning place with plants, accented wood & just well thought out decor. Stopped in for an early morning brunch. Place was quiet & welcoming. Loved that they offer vegetarian & vegan dishes. Amazing coffee to start the brunch. Everyone at our table loved their food. The vegan lemon waffles? To die for!!! Everything was super fresh, craft quality & just so delicious! The vegan waffle batter was thick & the flavor profile was on point. Scrambled tofu with cheese was also amazing. Very cozy & beautiful place for a chill brunch with friends!

WOW!

By Climber741093 |

What a fantastic restaurant. Lovely buzzy friendly & help staff/atmosphere. The food is yummy. Anyone who can make a kale leaf sing is good enough for me. I want wow & taste amazement when I go for a meal & we got that. So much so we went back 2 nights later with more people!

High quality food and drink.

By Bhav P |

First night in L.A, straight off a flight. This dinner was perfect for night one. Clean, flavourful food, nice atmosphere, good options. Would definitely recommend.

Breakfast

By Gianna |

I ordered avocado toast and an orange juice. From the taste it very good and it was freshly prepared. The decor of the cafe is nice, also the service is friendly. I find the prices a bit too expensive.

Not going back

By H.M_13 |

Hostesses were awful. Very inexperienced and ignorant. Rest of the staff were professional. Food and drinks were good.

Best meal of our 15 days

By GBItineraries |

The Butchers Daughter was recommended by our Air BnB host. The was by far our best meal during our 15 day holiday which was echoed by our 14 year old son who normally gets cross if no meat is available. All staff were great, helpful in recommending from the menu and good service. Tends to be busy throughout the week and no bookings unless for large parties.

Over Hyped and Over Priced

By Giri G |

I had read great reviews about this place and being vegan I was excited to visit it. The decor is charming and quaint and the wait wasn’t to bad for a Saturday night. Regarding food: first of all the menu had limited options which would have been Ok if the food was absolutely phenomenal. We ordered pizzas and the burger. Both mediocre. Nothing exceptional. It was extremely expensive for the quality. Would I go back? No!

One of the best vegetarian restuarants....however watch out for the tipping system

By Roger M |

The Butchers Daughter is a very cool and friendly place. We went on a Monday evening and it was alive...great atmosphere...mixed clientelle from singles to families. Super choice of food and excellently presented. However, the service was a bit hit and miss...quite slow and got our drinks wrong on two occasions...soda in the Gin instead of tonic and our waitress was somewhat resistant when we pointed this out. Anyway, it wasn’t a big deal. However, we were really taken aback by the minimum 25% tip (it was either that or no tip choice). I really do not like this system and 25% is over the top...it equated to $40 which we reluctantly felt oblidged to pay. It’s an embarrasing scenario and really should not be presented to customers.

Nice place at Abbot kinney

By Linda Z |

We had dinner here. Made no reservation but they noted our telephone number and after 15 minutes we received a text that a table was available. The kale salad was very nice and the portion was good. However, the bread we ordered as a starter was quite small. Friendly staff and well priced!

It has a great view and is

By RMS |

It has a great view and is located in a very nice place. The good was good but the service was not great. They would take forever bring us what we wanted and when it came time for the check, they never gave it to us. We had to go to the host and pay.

Great Breakfast!

By Ositojoe |

The Açaí bowl was fantastic! It was followed by scrambled eggs Greek Style with avocado and feta. Super delicious. Good service and reasonable prices.

One of the best breakfast

By Warl K. |

Amazing breakfast, lovely staff and great service. No one can ask for more, nice environment and positive vibes.

Overrated

By Sana Fatima |

Maybe it’s because I’m from London and we have so many amazing places like this, but I was underwhelmed. The food is decent, but overpriced for what it is. If you’re into style over substance, you’ll probably like this place but if you want a good honest meal, I’d head elsewhere. Nice, but not worth it.

Enjoyable, whistle-stop, brunch

By JSully80 |

This was my final stop in LA before heading to the airport, and it was a bit of a flying, solo, visit. Again, coming from a local's recommendation, I made time for this venue and without a booking was seated at the counter after a couple of minutes wait (and they looked after my case for me). The menu had fewer 'well known' options than I'm used to which helped me to choose something I might not have gone for otherwise. The juice selection isn't just a single source, they're all mixes and I went for 'Orange' (orange, carrot and something else). I needn't have worried about the carrot being too strong, the flavours all worked well together and the serve was both unusual while refreshingly practical. For food I went for the boldly-title "best egg sandwich ever" which was served in a croissant with kale, avocado and egg. The taste was really, REALLY, good, especially as it contained things I'm not normally a fan of (avocado). The only annoyance was that it was hard to keep everything in place as I was eating it, but we're talking about the top 5% here. The staff were attentive and pleasant to deal with, and I noticed great interaction with them and other clients. Would certainly go back for a more leisurely meal if I had the time.

Horrible Hot Chocolate & Mediocre Meal

By French H |

Their vegetarian dish was tasteless and their hot chocolate outside the fact that they served in water glass instead of mug didn’t taste like chocolate. Their decor is warm and nice also they have these metal bars that stick out of barstools by the bar that not ideal for clumsy folks like me :) We end up have table because we order food but I didn’t really like their dish and it taste. I think they need to change their chef

Delicious

By Sara |

Absolutely delicious, worth the 20 odd minute wait, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. Would 100% recommend!

Coffe and biscuits

By Lee S |

We had great service from the waitress to the table service. The coffee was good and biscuits flatly. The jam was particularly delicious.,

Veggie Food nirvana

By Highburysunshine |

Avoid all the restaurants on the beachfront and head to Abbot Kinney Blvd, about 6-7 minutes walk inland. Eat at this place and you won’t regret. Great location, ambience and crowd. Food is tasty. We had the eggplant and the artichokes, followed by the cashew-based ice creams. We like meat but didn’t miss it for a moment at this gem. Prices are sensible too.

Great brunch spot

By Ellpett |

We had an excellent brunch here on a sunny Sunday in March. Although the restaurant was really busy, we were seated quickly (without a reservation) at the central counter with unique cantilevered stool type seating. It was a great spot to sit for people watching! The food & drink did not disappoint. We tried the brunch pizza with excellent veggie “sausage” that had the flavour and texture of the real thing. The juices were also excellent. Although we didn’t have our dog with us, others did, and the location seemed really dog friendly. There are even branded dog treats available to purchase.

Yum!

By Lisa L |

First of all, this place is just so cute. I went with my sister and my niece, neither of them are vegan, but we all loved this place. My niece and I shared the Basil BLT and my sister got the surfers breakfast. Then we shared the chocolate matcha cake and that was absolutely delicious. Also, I got a flight of juices, which made me feel super healthy. :)

Terrible

By PG tips |

Awful experience, we had a reservation in the evening, we arrived and waiter asked us to wait. We waited, we waited, we waited. Some tables freed up but nothing happened. We ended up inquiring and the guy had totally forgotten about us despite walking by us at least ten times. Half an hour wasted and we left. You can’t have this type of quality of service in a place that tries and pretends to be upscale. The good thing is that we discovered another fabulous restaurant in the same street. So, in the end, thank you butcher’s daughter but we won’t come back.

Great food

By Dee94 |

This is really good vegetarian restaurant. Went here with some friends. Cool surroundings but really relaxed. The burger is really amazing and delicious. Great to bring meat lovers as many dishes did not feel like they were missing meat

I love this place!

This restaurant is in the middle of shoppingstreet Abbot Kinney. The restaurant has only vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. All the dishes we had were very tastful! My husband thought he ordered a burger. The waitress asked him about his meat- expectations and advised him to switch to a 'taste-like-meat' burger. Mainly young people are there. It's hot and happening. I love this place.

Good but Not Mindblowing

The Butchers Daughter is a very Instagram-ready, aesthetically pleasing, Abbot Kinney ‘must visit’ according to most reviews/foodies etc. It is very thoughtfully decorated and has a trendy vibe about it BUT... As they don’t accept reservations there is often a long wait for seating, particularly on weekends, sometimes in excess of 1hr+. We were lucky to get bar seating for brunch on a Friday, unfortunately the swing around seats aren’t comfortable if you’re planning on having a good catch up with friends/plan on hanging out for awhile. The service was good, with the hostess on the day being very friendly. There is however a mandatory 3% “wellness tip” before the suggested tips which start at 20%. Absolutely no idea what the wellness tip is for? The service however was not exceptional or deserving of a minimum tip of 23%...I suppose this is an upside to working in an upscale eatery on AK. The food was good but not as mind blowing as I was expecting. The price for both a pizza and açai bowl were appropriate, particularly for the location. The açai bowl could be a bit more creative. The prices of juices are a bit steep, particularly when the OJ was bitter and the size consists of about 3 gulps. I’d try The Butchers Daughter again because they’re all vegetarian and have a wide range of vegan items and would recommend for those wishing to give it a go. But if you’re not overly phased and don’t want to wait for seating then there is better nearby! Overall, it felt like a lot of the people visiting were just doing it for Instagram likes.

Good, bright and fresh

Really good food arrived swiftly, and service was perfect - timely without being overbearing. Of course it comes to Horribly Expensive but everything does in California. Portion sizes were very good.
