My adult son has a severe dairy allergy which we communicated to the server very clearly while ordering. Ordered a NY strip NO BUTTER. When the food came we pointed out the sheen from the butter and the server apologized and told us he would have kitchen prepare a new one immediately. A few minutes later he brought what we later found out was the same NY strip but they charred the buttered side and flipped it over. My son didnât notice, and after a few bites began feeling unwell. He asked for a box and took the rest to-go. At night he got sick and the next morning was even worse. We couldnât figure out what had made him react that way until we checked the leftover steak and noticed what the restaurant had done. Food allergies are very serious, and the way the server and the restaurant handled the order was deplorable. Needless to say we will never return to this Capital Grille again! Terrible experience.

We thought we'd give The Capital Grille a try for a special night out. We were well received. We were seated in a quiet location, as requested. Our table had little heart decorations and a note congratulating us. Our drinks were well prepared and dinner was very good. ( filet/ oysters). Ford was our waiter and he was attentive. We were presented with a lovely dessert on the house! To top it all off, the managing partner , Jasmine came over to make sure our evening went well. She also gave us a tour of the kitchen. We definitely felt special and treated right! This restaurant would be great for a special event. It is pricey but for special occasions, they produce. Valet parking available.

After doing a bit of online research we opted for the Capital Grille for a celebratory dinner. We wanted steak! The host gave us a very warm welcome and our server was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. I opted for the prawn cocktail to start, which is somewhat different to a UK prawn cocktail - large prawns on ice, with a spiced tomato dressing on the side. For the main I had fillet steak, and shared sides of mushrooms, fries and spinach rather than having my own (at the recommendation of the server). As it was our first visit we were offered a complimentary taster portion of two desserts - cheesecake and espresso chocolate cake which were both delightful. Iâd recommended the Capital Grille if youâre looking for steak with great service in Austin.

Thank God for the valet parking! Downtown is a mess. Most in our group had the steak or seafood and they were very satisfied. Appetizers were good, the salads were wonderful and the bread is fresh, hot and very tasty. There were 2 vegetarians with us and they were a little disappointed with their entrees. They ordered the vegetable stir fry with tofu but there was no tofu. The waiter soon returned with a plate of tofu, but if it isn't prepared in the original dish, it is tasteless so that was a no. Deserts were wonderful and the wine was very good.

The restaurant was lovely and the steak was great, but very much over priced. The service of the waiting staff lets the place down badly.

My husband took me there as a big splurge last night for our anniversary. They offered many sweet touches, like heart confetti on our table and a rose for me. Both our main dishes were outstanding! Their lobster mac & cheese was incredible, just wish we had more than 2 bites of lobster though. The had a great wine list, but their ipad wine list is no substitute for well trained wait staff; although our waiter was really eager to please he steered us towards a bottle of wine that was not what we'd requested because it'd gotten a high score on their wine list app. We were stuffed after our entrees and on our way to a show, but they packed up a complimentary dessert for us to share later. Even if you werent going for an anniversary, their white tablecloth, dim lighting, and jazz still made it a very romantic setting. Not quite perfect, but we'll definitely again.

While I only stopped in for drinks, the bartender was very friendly and professional. The menu looked superb. They had one of my favorite Tequilas, Clase Azul Reposado.

Had a New Years Eve dinner with a group of friends (8 of us). Had dinner, drinks and dessert. Wait was a bit long and bar drinks were not exactly excellent, but the rest of very good. Tomatoes+Mozzarella Salad, Steak with Gorgonzola sause perfect. The hit across the table were surprisingly the Brussels sprouts side dish! Dessert - the cheese cake with with brulee top was excellent

Excellent restaurant. Upscale, but relaxed. Good selection of entrees, but not overwhelming. We tried a couple of appetizers and four different lunch selections. Everyone was pleased. The lobster and crab burger was my choice and I thought about going back the next day. The coconut cream pie may be outlawed as addictive.

I joined up with relatives Christmas Eve for dinner at the Capital Grille on 4th St. We had a 6 PM reservation and plans to go see Star Wars afterwards. Not that Capital Grille has anything to say about it, but Austin downtown traffic planning looks like it was done by Afghan refugees. Terrible mess even on a light traffic evening. Our table was ready and waiting. We were given menus a basket of bread and told our waitress would be with us in the moment. She arrived and was quite pleasant. Took our drink orders in a rather unusual but quite effective way for her to remember who had ordered what. After approximately 10 minutes our beverages arrived. She returned about 10 minutes later to take our dinner orders. An assortment of beef, surf and turf, and roast chicken with risotto for myself. Sides of asparagus and au gratin potatoes. About 20 minutes later the food begin to arrive. Servers were well-trained knowing which side to serve and remove from. All but one of the steaks were cooked to perfection and I'm not sure any chef could've pleased the person who complained. My roast chicken consisted of two boneless breasts with the first wing joint attached bone in. It had been over cooked and was quite dry but had a delicious sauce that more than made it edible. The risotto had been perfectly prepared. Very creamy with lots and lots of very delicious assorted mushrooms. Normally I would've sent the bird back at these prices but I have a feeling they were somewhat understaffed for the large crowd due to it being Christmas Eve. Also, I have eaten at Capital Grille in Ft Worth and know their service to be exemplary. Our server disappeared for the rest of our meal although we really didn't require much. We did want our check so we could make our show which didn't happen. I finally asked another server to locate ours as we would like to leave which he did. From the time she came until the time we finally had bills to pay was approximately 20 more minutes. Overall a nice meal with family on a special holiday night. Any other night $590 for seven people with one bottle of wine I would've knocked it down to three star. Will gladly try them again when in town.

My wife and I ate here with some colleagues. We had group of about 30 in a private room. The Ribeye steak was amazing! I rarely eat a steak with any type of sauce. I'm more a, season it, cook it medium-rare, then eat it, person. The Ribeye I ordered came topped with a sauce I never would have put on a steak, but it made the meal standout. Can't get better service. I can't really comment on the value, since, I did not pay... which of course always make the food taste better :)

We went here for our last dinner in Austin---very proper-waiters very well dressed elegant tables and a great menu-I have a petit felit-I ordered it rare and it was perfect. Great service-a place to go back to

With the help of our son, a room was reserved for 20 of us to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The experience was as memorable as the reason for the occasion. The menu for our party was extensive and all items were very good. (I had their salmon, which was perfect.) The man and woman who oversaw the party (I'm sorry, I didn't get their names) only added to the occasion. They were so friendly and personable. All in all, The Capitol Grille hosted a perfect party for the celebration.

We loved the bread basket and our steaks! The French onion soup appetizer was too salty for me but my husband loved the lobster bisque. Au poivre sauce was amazing. I loved that we could get a smaller portion for the sides since there were only two of us (most sides feed 3-4 ppl) Absolutely loved the scalloped potatoes but didnât like the creamed spinachâŚnot creamy and sweet enough to take the bite off the spinach.

They donât disappoint on the steaks. Delicious filet! The calamari is excellent as well, a must order if you like calamari. The Augustine potatoâs are to die for and the fact that they have some pappy van winkle on occasion is nice for my hubby!

Came here for lunch and tried their house burger. Assortment of fresh beef tasted great. Tasty Parmesan fries as a side.Really liked the bar with its relaxing steakhouse bar atmosphere

As always ,the food as expected , keep the good work of maintaining the quality as well as the service.we certainly enjoy

My girlfriend and I spent 4 days in Austin during the 4th of July weekend, and had dinner at a nice restaurant in the downtown area each night we were there. Our last night we decided on The Capital Grille. In an effort to keep this review short and sweet, I will put the bottom line upfront: This restaurant was the highlight of our trip. The location was extremely convenient; we literally walked from our downtown hotel. The atmosphere was smooth, and pleasant. The bar made some killer drinks. The food was spectacular in taste and sight. The price was very fair. Last but not least, our waiter Robert Burton had such an amazing personality. We had an enjoyable conversation about college football, art, and adventure. He was delightful and very professional. We absolutely had to get a picture with him before we left. We will be back next summer and we will be sure to make a reservation on a night he is working so we can catch up. If you are looking for a perfect evening, this is the place to go. 5/5 stars...Boom.

Terrific staff and menu. Food prepared perfectly as is the norm at Capital Grille. Service was excellent from beginning to end.

We always enjoy Capital Grille. Service is excellent, white tablecloths, nice placesettings, great atmosphere. Food is steak and seafood centric, with a bit of special offerings/ surprises every night with chef's offerings. Good place to take guests, you know you will be treated well and everything will be done to your liking.

Our rehearsal party of 15 was comfortably accomodated in one of the three private dining rooms and had a great time. Head server Kelly assisted by her able assistants was great coordinating champagne, wine, and food. Everything was well received by our guests, a delicious dining experience from start to finish. Everyone from hostess to servers to manager on duty was so kind. Thank you Capital Grille for a memorable evening!

We came here for drinks and appetizers before a show. We didn't mention this to the staff, but the service was prompt and we didn't have to rush. The filet mignon sliders were the best of the apps - which included the lobster and crab cakes and the shrimp cocktail. The bread basket, which came with soft butter, was outstanding. Good drinks as well.

The Capital Grille is always superb--but not this time. Still very good, but I've had a better filet for a much cheaper price. The staff was very accommodating and served me an 8oz that wasn't on the dinner menu, so I give them high marks for service, but the quality of the meat just wasn't what I've had at the CG in Orange County, CA or Washington DC.

This restaurant caught my eye when I was wandering around Austin so, I made it a point to have dinner here. I had happy hour at a nearby place to wait for 5pm. Thatâs when this place opens up. Thereâs a team of hostesses to greet & seat you and your party, since Iâm the Lone Ranger, I went to the bar. The bar folks are attentive and great to be there if you need anything. There is live music to add to the restaurants ambiance. The a la carte menu has your usual suspects for a steakhouse and my choice tonight was bone in ribeye with gratin. I started out with the burrata - very good! The steak was cooked to my liking & the au gratin was good as well. This steakhouse has all the great elements one would need for a great dinner experience I was here on a Friday night, please know that it will get busy so enjoy some good drinks, good music & good people while you wait for your food. :)

This downtown establishment has nice decor and atmosphere for a good meal and then menu they served are well chosen . The steak and sides are good and so are the desert. Service are great as well. Itâs a place for fine and fun dinning.

From being seated where we requested by the hostess, to our water being poured by Monica, through a couple of other folks who brought us bread and finally to Bradley, our waiter, these were arguably among if not the best service staff I've experienced in Austin in recent years. We could converse over dinner without screaming to be heard over the herds who come to Austin restaurants to be heard and seen and not to dine. Both of our steaks were arguable the best we've eaten in the last several years - well, except for those beefalo rib eyes, but those are REALLY hard to find - and both cooked exactly the way we asked Excellent Manhattan and a very nice Pinot for my lovely dinner companion followed by desserts. Attentive but not intrusive servers and waiter, capped off by a brief visit by the Maitre'd Hotel who checked that all was to our liking. Capital Griill has two new regulars. Expensive, but worth ever dollar.

The drinks were perfect, the steak was AMAZING. Our server was simply amazing. She was great with my 3 year old niece and made sure she was happy as well as the adults. The dessert was RIDICULOUS!!! This experience definitely ensured I'd be visiting Austin again.

Just passing through town on a semi-business trip and had never visited Austin before (GREAT PLACE and MUST spend more time next time). When in Texas, gotta try beef and we had not had our steak yet after more than a week in the state so wandering around downtown we walked into the Capital Grille which looked like a pretty good steak house. We were WRONG! It was a GREAT steakhouse! We live in Mexico and have are in the hospitality business and one of our businesses is a bar and restaurant. We probably dine out 90% of the time during the year and all over the U.S. and Mexico and encountered not only excellent food at the Capital, but some of the best table service we have ever had the pleasure of receiving. Magda Kelly was our server and from start to finish what a joy. Knowledgeable...professional...and just plain fun we just wanted her to join us and sit down at our table! From drinks to food, her suggestions were spot on! The lobster bisque was the best we have ever tasted. Magda also suggested the pan-fried calamari for appetizers and they were also excellent. Oh...and the craft drinks were incredible . Wish I could remember the names of them but I had a grapefruit concoction and my wife had some kind of killer good martini! Dinner itself was a 22 oz bone-in ribeye and 1/2 sides of au grautin potatoes; asparagus; creamy garlic spinach and grilled brussel sprouts (4 separate sides). No way we could finish it all. The steak was done perfectly and was incredibly tender and flavorful. We opted NOT to put any of the special toppings on it (Magda's suggestion) so we could just taste the great meat and she was right! I'm glad we were walking that night because we waddled back to our hotel! Thanks, Capital and thanks so much, Magda. An hall-of-fame dinner!

On a recent business trip to Austin, TX, I had the pleasure of enjoying a business lunch at The Capital Grille in downtown. What can I say... it's your typical Capital Grille experience through and through: the staff is exceptional; the food is delicious; and you always leave knowing that you'll come back for more. Whether in Austin, Miami, and anywhere else, if it's Capital Grille, you know it'll be great.

It was hard to find a nice restaurant which opened for lunch, on a Wednesday afternoon... and I would ddare to say that this was quite a good one. They have excellent wine choices, the food and service are pretty good.. we had a good time here!

I had dinner here last night with a large group and the service is impeccable. The starters were Crab Cake and Calamari. The Calamari was quite nice as it is prepared with grilled Peppercino's. I had the NY bone in strip, I believe they call it the Kona and it was delicious. Prepared perfectly and tasty as could be. The side mashed potato's and green beans were delivered cold so no joy in them. Other than that a really nice meal.

Closes early so only able to grab a pre-made sandwich to eat after the Capital tour. Paid $8 for a small sandwich wrap. But when hungry, itâs the closest place.

Our 38th wedding anniversary dinner with another couple became a very special evening thanks to the folks at Capital Grille. From the confetti on our table, to the lovely card waiting for us, our server Anthony was delightful and the food was very good. We lucked into restaurant week and a special wine offering, but even without those 2 things, the evening would have been a standout. We really appreciated the extra touches, including the complimentary lava cake at the end of our meal. Thank you for making our evening special.

Great steaks with a great wine list. The burgers and happy hour menu in the bar are outstanding too.

This is a great place to go on a date or for happy hour. Golf themed accessories at the bar are cool. Food is pretty expensive but the lobster mac&cheese is a bucket list kind of thing. It's fantastic! Their salmon is luscious. Very nice place but can get pricey, i.e. $150 for 2 for dinner.

Had bone-in Filet. OMG. truly amazing Waiter was awesome. Wine was excellent. Gran Moraine Pinot from Willamette Valley. We will come back here!!!!!

This was my second time Dining at The Capital Grill. My husband had the steak and I had Lobster tails. The food was good..and the service was good. For me I would prefer Perryâs Steakhouse or Flemings Steakhouse in Austin. I was not really impressed with Capital Grill. The location not appealing and building was like you were walking into a warehouse. Inside the restaurant was so dark! I could hardly see my menu. I gave them 3 stars for the food being good! Not great!

We used to frequent this restaurant in Houston, and then so many new steak houses opened , it fell to the âstand byâ list. But, we just celebrated daughterâs 25th Bd last night, and out waiter, Kyle not only did an outstanding job, but the food was just superb! Nothing could have been better!

We went here for dinner while in town for a convention. The food was absolutely amazing - especially the beef - and we rarely eat beef. The service Audrey provided was perfect. I have to praise all of the staff as they are professional and attentive. The atmosphere has kind of an elegant old school vibe and was quiet. We did not have to shout to have a conversation at the table, which is a personal pet peeve of mine. My only jab at this establishment would be the overpriced wine list. Maybe we are spoiled coming from California Wine Country, but the prices were obnoxious. There are plenty of quality wines for less than $100 per bottle. Sadly, there were not listed.

âGreat food! Beautiful atmosphere! Great waitstaff and delicious steaks. Always good. Love Austin! â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸

This location like all the others is fantastic. The menu is the same as all the locations. Definitely a fine dinning restaurant.

I had the fliet mignon and it was the best i've ever had. Melted in my mouth. The other food was also excellent as was the wine. Waitress was very good and friendly. Would go back.

This restaurant reminded us of an elegant dining experience of decades ago, not in a negative way but as how we imagine it used to be in the salons of Europe and U.S. large cities.Beautiful decor, furniture and soft furnishings. The menus were full of quality food which was realised when our choices arrived along with an excellent glass of red wine. Unfortunately my wife was very poorly and we did not stay for dessert. The most memorable part of our unfortunately short evening was our excellent server Andrew. Polite, knowledgeable about the menu, the specials and the wine. In fact I told him he would be a star in the top London restaurants. Outstanding! When we left Andrew gave my wife some special teas to help her heavy cold. Superb restaurant all round

We had the opportunity to experience the 4-7 cocktail hour at The Capital Grille, what a treat! The featured menu is good, plentiful and well priced. In addition, the featured cocktails are delightful and, most importantly VERY tasty. My favs were the Korean Fried Chicken Sliders and The Churchill, yum! Make the time to pop in after work for a wind down, with friends prior to dinner and as a fun pre-event with a date. The cocktail hour will please and impress.

On a weekend visit to Austin, my wife and I made reservations at the Capital Grille on 4th Street, just a block away from our hotel. As we have come to expect at a Capital Grille, the food, service, and ambiance were exceptional. Our server, Michael, was attentive and very helpful. The clam chowder, pear walnut salad, steak au poivre, miso better seabass, au gratin potatoes, and sauteed spinach were all perfect. This upscale restaurant has an impressive wine list as well where wine may be ordered by the glass or the bottle. This was a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.

I had been to this restaurant several times. I like it's New York atmosphere and it reminds me of the good ol days. Problem is when I finally took a date there, the bartender assumed that I wanted the most expensive bourbon on the house and charged me almost $30 for my drink. I have been all over the world and have never been charged that much for a simple bourbon drink.

If you've ever been to Capital Grille, this is exactly what you would expect. Excellent food served by a very professional waitstaff in a handsome setting

Great food only exceeded by the service. Excellent tuna steak, veal and lamb. Everything cooked as requested.

Superb food and professional service. thought I should have some beef while visiting Texas. Ate in the lounge with some nice live music - very enjoyable. I started with a cup of butternut bisque. Then had the sliced filet mignon with mushrooms, and a side of asparagus. A Malbec from Mendoza valley went very well with this. Finished with a very nice crime brĂťlĂŠe and espresso. Kelly was an outstanding server.

My husband and I celebrated our 40th anniversary at Capital Grille! We couldn't have been more pleased with the service and the wonderful food! When we arrived our table was decorated and there was a card waiting for us! The server for so pleasant and the food was cooked to perfection!

My wife took me there Friday night for dinner. The ambience is very cool and the live music that was playing was awesome. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and the food was amazing. Itâs also located in the heart of downtown so itâs easy to get around from there.

Another outstanding evening at the Capital Grille in Austin. Service was impeccable with Kelly at the bar. My three other business associates were very pleased with their entrees and cocktail service. Kelly, recommended a local bourbon from The Garrison Brothers Distillery, and it was well-received by all. The filet and lobster was super, lamb chops were outstanding, and the porterhouse was tender and delicious. Shrimp cocktail served in the old school style, along with tuna tartare and fresh oysters on the half-shell were enjoyed by all. Lots of other extensive menu options to please the palate. Valet parking available. Reservations recommended. Highly recommended!

Had a group of 8 for NYE dinner. The food and service were amazing. Ordered a filet and it was cooked perfectly. There were several specialty drinks that were really good and a decent wine selection also. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menus and offered ideas for substitutions/enhancements to the regular menu.

simply sublime tuna tartare, oyster pepper steak, sea bass!!! just WoW he is a remarkable and affordable leader to follow the sauces are delicate, the cooking is done just right, the fresh products are perfectly mastered respect đđť

The Capital Grill, downtown Austin, TX, has regained its glory! We recently stopped by for dinner on a Saturday ... the restaurant was on point in every category. Pre-dinner cocktails were very good, the Stoli and Grey Goose martinis were fantastic. We decided to try the "The Generous Pour" wine pairing with dinner, which is a 2 oz glass of 7 different wines, kind of paired with dinner courses. At $28/person, its a bargain, and at least 4 of the 7 wines were bottles we will look for next time. The promotion is ending, so we'll wait until next summer for the G-Pour experience. All of the food was off the charts. My wife's monster NY strip steak was over cooked, and the manager had a new steak out, at the perfect temperature, in less than 10 minutes. The delay was harmless, our dinner didn't miss a beat. The restaurant brought out a dessert sampler platter to make up for the "steak delay" which was unnecessary, but a very nice touch! Nicholas Vachon was our waiter, attentive but not instrusive ... PERFECT job Nichloas. Kudos also go out to the restaurant's general partner Jasmine Peterson, who contacted us after our last visit to address concerns raised in our Open Table review. She made things right! Thank you Jasmine, you were delightful!

Okay...I'll be the first one to admit, when I have a good dining experience at a restaurant, I'll haphazardly give five stars. In this case, in the immortal words from Spinal Tap..."This one goes to 11!" This was my first visit to The Capital Grill in Austin. I have been to the one in Houston a couple of times, but that was just for a drink and an appetizer. No special occasion here...just the wife and I going out for a good dinner. What we were in store for was much more. We rolled in at six, and got seated promptly in a nice cozy booth. Out waiter, Ron Bruscia, introduced himself and the started in with small talk. We knew right then that we were in good hands. Ron opened with the wine list as well as a couple small sample shots of something that tasted like it came out of the Wonka factory. He asked what we were thinking food-wise and recommended pairings. We skipped the appetizer and just left into wedge salads. These were, without a doubt, the BEST salads we ever had. Typically, you will get bacon bits or crisp bacon on a wedge...these came with pork belly! Outrageous! Ron then brought out a small sample of the Fisher Unity Cab...this was perfect, especially since I had just ordered the porterhouse steak. My wife is not a huge steak eater, so we asked if the could cut an 8oz filet for her. They did without pause. She got her steak Oscar style, while mine was crusted with their signature porcini rub. Both steaks were cooked to perfection. We also got a couple of sides...asparagus and au gratin potatoes. Really nice sized portions for only being half orders of each. We also got a visit from Jasmine, the managing partner of the restaurant. She was very appreciative that we chose them to spend the evening with and asked to not hesitate if we needed anything. But as I mentioned earlier, we were in for much more than food. Ron made this evening absolutely perfect. He talked with us, not to us, was a great listener as well as conversationalist, and made us extremely comfortable and relaxed. He even brought my wife out a red rose, for he said he was equally as appreciative that we were cool to talk with. I've been to some of the most high-end steak houses in the US, and even though this is a chain, this was my best experience, hands down. An absolutely perfect evening...thanks to the star of the show, Ron. When you go here, and you should, please ask for Ron. I will guarantee he will make your evening as great and memorable as ours.

The Capital Grill is one of the better steak houses in Austin. The food is of top quality notwithstanding Austin, Texas steakhouse prices. Our special occasion dining experience was ruined by a white male waiter in his late 30's who could have cared if he worked that night. He had the worst attitude... totally unacceptable. One can only guess that restaurants in Austin have been forced to reduce their wait staff standards aka supply and demand.

Have eaten there twice since moving to Austin. Best steak in Austin. Onion Soup is best I have had in this city. The Ribeye and the New York Strip were done just right. Service was excellent. Got the exact table I wanted. Would choose this over Eddie V's and Ruth's Chris.

For various reasons we ate here two nights in succession. The second night we four os us ate in the formal dining room. To start with our table wasnât ready when we arrived. Not a big deal in itself, but not an ideal way to start what is supposed to be a nice night out - four of us left standing in the doorway for 15 minutes. We were shown to our table and seated. We were told out wait staff would be along shortly.....it took a rather long time to see this guy. When he eventually arrived, he took our drinks order. I order a bottle of their Malbec. After another 15 minutes or so, a lady describing herself as the assistant manager came by the table to tell me that they had run out of that wine but could offer a more expensive bottle (at a more expensive price). It was only $10 which you are not going to notice if you are taking four people out for a nice dinner at Capital Grille, but it is poor to not be offered a small concession in these circumstances. Anyway, I said yes and continued to wait for the drinks to arrive.....during this wait we ha some good conversation and I noticed how much noisier the Restaurant was than the Bar, interesting as its usually the other way around. Not a problem, just something to note. We had a good conversation during which the waiter finally reappeared, although still without drinks, to take our dinner order. Now I donât know about you, but one thing I hate, especially in what is supposed to be a high quality restaurant, is when wait staff just appear at your table and talk over the conversation rather than waiting for a convenient break. This guy just appeared and shouted over me while I was talking - so rude and so poorly trained! I wonât go into further detail of the evening other than to say that the bread was fabulous, the steaks were good quality although massively over seasoned (if you have steaks there make sure to ask for them un-seasoned), we had to carve off the outer layer of meat to get rid of the salt, and the slow service just got slower still. The restaurant should get 2, considering how pricey the place is. It is a mass market franchise masquerading as a one off fine dining establishment. They do not put the necessary training nor policies in place to support their perceived place in the market.

I was very familiar with this chain and so surprised to see this one open for lunch with special deals. Great Wagyu burger for lunch. Recommended.

The food was amazing and the service was great. The lobster mac and cheese is a must as well as the calamari. All of our table had a range of entrees and everyone left impressed.

This is a lovely location for a work lunch, celebration nibbles and nosh as well as a special occasion dinner. This venue is both sophisticated and tasty. There is a wide variety of food, sometimes specials (burgers and wine pairing), in addition to a full bar. A major draw back is the lack of designated parking. The closest lot is across the street, 4 hours is the smallest time option ($15).

Capital Grill is superb. One of the best Happy Hours in Austin. The martinis are made just right and I would hearted recommend the tuna salad. Very, very good. Now with the Parker Jazz Club open below the Capital Grill you have the perfect evening at basically one address. Romantic dinner at Capital Grill then great jazz after doowstairs at Parker's.

Had a wonderful meal here during a recent visit to Austin. Conveniently located just off Congress St. in the heart of downtown Austin. The service was impeccable from the minute we walked in the door. Friendly, attentive and prompt. The food was excellent. Ambiance great. We are big fans of Capital Grille restaurants. They are consistently great and never disappoint.

Went here for Mother's Day and had a wonderful experience. Andrew was our waiter and did a superb job explaining the menu and specials. He also asked if we were in a rush or not - which I thought was a nice touch. From then on, he was attentive but not annoying. This was actually the best seafood we found in Austin (much better than Eddie V's even though the same management company owns both chains). The filet was also very good. In the end, my wife was given a gift for being a mother - a rose, some candy, and a scarf. They had bags that they were giving to all the Mom's who ate there. When was the last time you saw a restaurant do that?

Generally, I have my lite birthday snack outside of the country but this stayed in Austin and whenever I am in Austin on my birthday, I go only to the Capital Grille for my lite birthday snack. They know how to pamper me and make me feel at home. I arrived on time for my reservation and after being seated at my table, my server, Ron, introduced himself and asked if I would like something besides water and I said, "Yes, something with authority like an Old Fashioned". First, I ordered one of my favourites at the Capital Grille, the Lobster Bisque, made with North Atlantic lobster that is lightly sauteed and when served at the table, you can request that the server drizzle a little sherry across the bisque. My main course was the Sushi-Grade Sesame Seared Tuna, lightly seared to provide a flavorful crust and served with gingered rice, white soy, and sambal vinaigrette and a side of Creamed Spinach with their classic bechamel sauce. I had a glass of a Spanish Albarino that paired perfectly with the main course. Last but certainly not least, was the little Happy Birthday platter with cheesecake and fruit to which I added a double espresso and a snifter of Drambuie, for digestive purposes. As always, the Capital Grille did not disappoint and truly made my day đ

Casual Elegance. Let them know about celebrations. For my Birthday I received a birthday card and colorful confetti scattered across the table. The lobster bisque was tasty but next time I'm getting the French onion soup. You can not beat dry aged stakes cooked to perfection. The coconut cream pie and flour less chocolate cake were awesome. $$$$ but worth it.

We selected Capital Grille for our T'giving dinner because local media listed it as one of the Ten Best for T'giving We were seated promptly, and our cheerful server proceeded to tell us that it was a steakhouse, then reeled off steak choices. We had to ask for the Thanksgiving turkey special, which seemed to be an afterthought. Our dinners arrived in less than five minutes--obviously plated in advance and sitting in the kitchen getting cold--and we were still perusing the wine list! We resisted this fast-food treatment and told the server to take the dinners back until we selected our wine and sampled it. She complied. Then the bread basked arrived. After our wine arrived and we sampled it, we told the server to bring our turkey dinners, which had been sitting in the kitchen getting colder. The turkey was tough, the mashed potatoes were cold, and the string beans were underdone. They clearly offered this "special" Thanksgiving dinner as a second-rate adjunct to the steaks--and their assembly line broke down badly. The din in the restaurant was unbearable. A little girl at the next table was playing with a raucous electronic game for the duration--this in a supposedly first-class restaurant with steep prices--but it was almost drowned out by the general noise. We complained to the server, who brought over a manager. She deleted the cost of our dinners; we paid for the wine (which was good). The restaurant gets two stars for at least acknowledging our complaint; otherwise we would have rated it one star.

Ok, we all have had bad experiences at restaurants...but at Capital Grille? I've been to this chain 100+ times...this was my second time in Austin. The Generous Pour program is typically a great deal, but I cannot say anything good about the food portion of this meal. Wine was good. The steak was dried out...I'm sure I pissed the waiter off by asking for it to be MedRare+...I like medium rare, but last time here it was more rare than I wanted so I thought I hedge. Ordered a baked potato because 'sometimes' they do offer them...this one was at least a day or two old and when they did cook it, it did not get done. Tipped 20% begrudgingly, but this was an embarrassment in front of customers and my boss.

We had dinner around 5pm, a little early for us, but it was great. The music, a piano player with backing tracks was chessy, was ok. Best part was the service! We sat at the bar and (canât remember her name) blonde woman server/bartender was fantastic. She explained all the dishes and wines offered and all done with a flirty smile. My favorite :) The crab claws were just ok, skip them. The mini lobster was great, but my filet won the show. Perfect! Dessert and espresso was spot on as well.

I had sliced filet with mushrooms and onions. It was tender. Could of used some additional seasoning. We also had the seafood platter before our entrees. The seafood was very good. The au gratin potatoes were good. The brussel sprouts were a bit over cooked.

We came here for a nice steak dinner when we were on vacation. Could not have been more disappointed! We were seated promptly but had to wait at least 15 minutes before we were even able to see a drink menu. As it turned out, we had to wait for another table to finish with it before we could see it and then did not even list the beers available. Tried to understand the server who had clearly lost her voice and could not even be heard over the noise of the other diners. After that failure I was told that there was no draft beer and if I wanted beer I could view what was available in a cooler behind the bar. Seriously?!?!? How simple is it just to have a basic printed drink menu? Next, we learned that $48 for filet mignon only gets you a piece of meat, no sides at all. If you want sides, those are $10-$12 each!!! Extreme ripoff to say the least! Iâm not opposed to paying for a nice meal but come on! Really? After some discussion we cancelled our order and went to Coopers BBQ which was outstanding. We will certainly never return here and would not recommend this place to anyone.

Went for late lunch (mid afternoon) and did not want to sit in the dining area. The bar has full menu, but since I was not very hungry, I choose two appetizers. The tuna tartar with avocado was delicious, light, great seasoning. But I was still a bit hungry, so I ordered the lamb chops. Delicious. Service was effective and I would return any day for dinner. A bit pricey, but the ingredients were excellent, so worth the price.

We had the Turkey and all the trimmings. Everything was exceptional. The service was perfect. Our table never wanted for anything. Perfect! Perfect!!

Went Friday night over Thanksgiving with family of 4. Been to 2 or 3 Capital Grilles in other states. This was more or less the same as the others. Except for the pictures on the wall, nothing about the food distinguished itself from the other restaurants. The food was very good. I had the porterhouse. The salads were fresh; the drinks were measured. the prices were about as high you would get in Austin. You will get a first rate meal and first rate service here, and spend about $100-$125 pp with sides, an apopetizer and wine. You won't remember it as being special or unique like one of the barbeque food trucks

We ordered the fillet on the bone and it was superb. My friend said it was the best steak he had ever eaten and he eats steak! Service was first class and a very good wine menu.

This is a must stop if you are dining in Austin. Great atmosphere and incredible food are staples at The Capital Grill. The service from the staff is second to none and everyone is super friendly. I had the filet and it was very lean and prepared to perfection. All of the sides are amazing and they have a great selection of wine. I highly recommend this place for your special occasion or just a night out.

Austin has many good restaurants, although the tend towards cowboy/Mexican/Italian varieties. Fortunately The Capital Grille provides an alternative. Being Texas there are steak and potato type menu items, but also many other, more thoughtful and sophisticated choices including nice fish and dinner salad options. Wait staff was simply superb on our visit - attentive but not hovering, friendly and competent. Add good wine, beer and cocktail offerings and you have the makings of a great evening's dinner.

We recently visited the restaurant. Our experience was outstanding. From the moment we walked in and sat. All the staff was friendly and attentive. Our waiter Jason was very observant and polite. Our food was amazing. All the appetizers were delicious as well as our main courses. The swordfish was the best I have ever had and our steaks cooked to perfection and so incredible. We hope to visit soon. It was one of our favorite times! Thanks to all the staff, including the chef!

The Dry Aged Steaks cooked to perfection are only the tip of the iceberg. The ambience alloys you to unwind and enjoy the best appetizers, sides, & desserts you can imagine. The extensive Wine list and Mixologist Cocktails are the icing on the cake. FIVE Stars on every aspect.

Went with my wife for a romantic evening with delicious food, first visit for both of us. We both enjoyed the evening. Food as well as the presentation was good although my wife's filet with lobster tails was under cooked. They went above and beyond to correct the mistake. I had the bone in N.Y. Strip, it was cooked to perfection. The appetizers were also very tasty. I normally don't have a desert, but we did split a flourless chocolate cake, it was deliciously decadent. I would recommend this place to my best friends. It hold up to the best places and has a nicely decorated interior.

Gave son and daughter-in-law dinner here prior ro him leaving for Korea, stated best steak he's ever had, pricey but service was impeccable, highly recommend

Our dinner was fabulous. Our server, Lori Ann was outstanding. She provided suggestions for the perfect wine and was attentive but not overbearing. We will be back!

We had a splendid Thanksgiving meal. Food tops, service excellent, surroundings elegant, quiet. Valet parking easy. All in all, a fine experience.

Just dined tonight 2.12.21 J our server was SPECTACULAR He recommended my favoriteâŚ.. lobster bisque And ended the the evening with a magical dessert recommendation

Food, atmosphere, service and drinks were all phenomenal!! Blake was our waiter and he was spectacular. Very efficient and there when we needed him. Excellent dinner.

Went there for Thanksgiving dinner, there were seven of us in our party. Showed up 10 minutes early and there was no wait for our table even though the place was absolutely packed. Everyone ordered the turkey dinner. It was hot and very tasty. Our server did a very good job keeping up with our requests for more gravy, more bread, more wine, etc. The restaurant was loud but I expected that with it being a holiday crowd. I had not been to this place before but based on the quality of the food and the service, I look forward to going back.

We were hoping to try a couple of other steak houses in the area but this was the only reservation we could get and it didnât disappoint. Our steaks were perfect, the scallops were huge and the wine selection was good. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for!!

An absolutely wonderful evening. A very busy night but excellent quick service. Lobster Bisque was the best we have ever had. Chunks of lobster, and be sure to get the added dry sherry to bring out the flavor. Bone-in Filet was flavorful and tender. Salmon was delicious! Added a lobster tail to each, side of incredible sweet brussels sprouts, finished with the brĂťlĂŠeâd cheesecake and super rich flourless cake. OMG. So good! The perfect evening!! Server Andrew was knowledgeable with spot-on service and recommendations. Jasmine Peterson manages with total professionalism, but with the personal attentive care that sets this place apart. Eager to return soon.

Not the cheapest restaurant in Austin, but certainly one of the best. We had a beautiful meal, mixture of steaks and seafood. I can highly recommend the lobster and crab cakes, they were divine and we'll be going back for more.

Wow!! Never been disappointed at a capital grille, but Austin rocks! They accommodated a table move with a party of 8 into the bar without a flinch. Great knowledgeable and friendly staff with a great sense of humor. Enjoyed a memorable meal after the F1 race. Cheers to capital grille.

Highly recommend if you want a fine dining experience. If you are only looking at cost, it's on the pricier side; you will get an exquisite dining experience worth the cost. The wine list is varied enough and the tasting notes are detailed enough that you will be able to find something both in your price range and that will complement your meal. (I also want to say that, in a time where I often will order meat done a certain way...and it isn't...these folks both verify what you want (medium) - "warm and pink in the middle?" and clearly the chef knows what the terms actually mean - my meat was done exactly the way I ordered it). My partner and I shared entrees and starters, and I honestly had no issues. I would highly recommend the filet mignon with onions and mushrooms, the cheesecake was quite good. Equally important was the responsiveness and professionalism of the wait staff - they elevate this restaurant from excellent to superb.

Came in here looking for a quick but good meal and they did not disappoint. Ordered the wedge salad and asked for âExtra Baconâ. The thick cut bacon chunks were great. Then decided I wanted something different than a traditional filet or NY Strip. So I got the beef tenderloin and lobster tails for $54. It was perfect with a side of green beans. No room for desert and I was out of here in just over an hour. Watched the game between it all. Nice job Capital Grill. Iâll be back.

Took out a few items last week. The pear and Gorgonzola salad was delicious. Large, juicy slices of pear, and a good size salad overall. Steak and tuna. tartare were both somewhat small portions but delicious and, the clam chowder was full of clams. Nice job. my wife was craving the steak tartare, and this restaurant satisfied her craving!

My wife and I celebrated Valentine's Day with dinner here. There are several wonderful steak and seafood places in Austin - this one is in the top tier. We enjoyed an excellent filet mignon, OUTSTANDING sea bass filet, nice bottle of chardonnay, and some kind of chocolate heaven dessert. The service is top notch and professional too.

I was so disappointed in my choice. It wasn't that they were chintzy with the lobster but it was drowning in mayo, celery, and spices. Definitely too much filler. đ I had the lobster bisque which was quite good and my friend shared the tenderloin sliders (which were excellent) I kept oohing and ahhing as to how tender the steak was. She acted like tenderloin is always that tender (because after all "it's not stringyloin or toughloin) but I assured her that was definitely not the case and this was exceptionally tender. There was a ribeye sandwich that look delicious also. Capital Grille has always had great steaks and service is spot on as usual. I just will stay with ordering steaks.

An outstanding dinner, good steaks and excellent service. It's a challenge to suggest what might be the best of the varied steaks. They use lobster well in their crab cakes and their mac & cheese. We liked the berry crostata for dessert. The wine list is good on the west coast side -- ask if they have any special wines not on the list.

We have had within the past weeks two excellent meals here. The dining room is handsome and quiet. Service is professional. And several dishes in particular are worth a shout-out: the lobster salad served at lunch is world class. And both the clam chowder and lobster bisque can only be equaled by the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station.

Our group of nine had a wonderful evening at the Capital Grille. They put us in a private room around a large round table. Our servers were excellent - prompt, knowledgeable and helpful with their menu. The food was also excellent. I had the filet with lobster tails and we shared several side dishes - each delicious. Everyone loved their entrees. We shared a variety of desserts which were also delicious. The 4-foot painting of Austin legend Farrah Fawsett was a bit unusual but made for conversation!

Pam loves steakhouses! Capitol Grille is one of her dependable choices when we travel. I, myself, am not a big steak eater but do enjoy the red meat offerings at the Capitol Grille. Being a "foodie" the entree is only part of the meal for me. We were visiting my daughter in Austin and treated the family to The Capitol Grille. We are talking about a nice sized check! However, I was very disappointed in the side-order selection offered on the menu! We have eaten at Capitol Grilles in four major cities in this country and Austin was the first to disappoint. You would figure with the "green" attitude of most of the citizens of Austin there would be more that ample vegetable selections on the menu. Not that we will give up eating at Capitol Grilles. but I just had to let everyone know about our disappointment! Salute!

We came here for a nice dinner and it did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I recommend the bone in filet. I would like to return in the future.

Nice decoration, good quality food ( meat) , efficient service , good variety of wines. Good atmosphere. But it is not cheap!!

Had dinner here on Saturday night with two of my sons. The staff was very friendly and seated up promptly after we arrived. The waiter was very friendly and did a fine job confirming my wine choice and recommending appetizers and sides to go along with the three bone-in filets we ordered. We didn't have desert but were definitely tempted. I'll definitely come to this restaurant again next time I visit my son in Austin.

We always go to capital grill in Dallas and have a wonderful experience. First of all, we called before we went and they assured us that they would have a vegan meal. When we got there, of course they were out of everything. Our waiter Ken hardly ever came back to our table to check on us. The steak was good but the sea bass tasted very fishy. We were celebrating 2 anniversaries and of course they forgot until I reminded our waiter. Don't know whats going on there but I only hope they get their act together like the other ones.

It had been several years since we had visited, but my wife snuck me to Austin for my birthday weekend and in wandering around town decided to go find the Capital Grille. We love just sitting at the bar in a restaurant so we wandered in and grabbed a seat. We were going to have dinner, but then I ordered the big shellfish appetizer and we were DONE! (in a good way). It was huge and had giant shrimp, oysters, crab and more. Add the bread and a couple of pineapple infused vodka's and we were fat and happy! Gotta give a shout-out to Connor who was bartending and took such great care of us. Personable...professional...just great to have a seat with him behind the bar. His recommendations were spot on and check out the dessert he got for us too! Thanks, Connor and Capital Grille. We'll be back!

The staff is friendly, Kelly did a great job. The restaurant was easy to find and very accessible from any of the down town hotels. Capital Grill's are typically my go to as I travel a lot and can always count on them. This one was average and not to the standard that I am typically accustomed to from Capitol Grill. Restaurants key ingredients are location, service and food quality, this one had 2 out of the 3. Just summarize; not bad, but certainly not up to Capital grill standards.

They have a wide selection of meats including a number of dry aged options. A tour of their meat locker confirmed my suspicions that they have some of the best prime meats in town. The ribeye with the porcini rub is outstanding! The staff is superb. The manager visits our table every time we visit to ensure everything is to our liking.

A bit odd to be singing the praises of French onion soup at a grill with a ton of steaks and burgers on the menu--but the soup was really outstanding. Ten dollars for a cup, but a well filled cup with an excellent slice of rye bread smothered in cheese atop a goodly portion of broth and pieces of onion. Put their signature cheese burger to shame. The cheese burger was fine, excellent bun, condiments, but the requested medium was medium-well to well done which left it a bit dry. Very good wait service. Noise level a bit high but okay for lunch.

Picked this restaurant based on good experiences elsewhere in the USA. Food excellent and service attentive. Choosing wine by iPad OK but would have preferred a hard copy list.

Great place for a business lunch - excellent service, and quiet enough for conversation. Recommend the lobster roll and the salmon salad.

Dinner with friends while visiting Austin. We were running a bit late doing touristy stuff so we didnât really have time to get to the hotel and change out of our shorts and t-shirts. We called ahead and they said no problem, come as you are. I frequent a lot of high end Steakhouses and everything and everyone here met or exceeded all expectations. The food was outstanding and Madison, our waiter, was fantastic. Highly recommend!

We had a private room for our party of 30-35 which was nice. Since we were a large business group our host had preselected the menu so unfortunately I wasn't able to try some of the items that would have been my choice. That said, everything we had was very good! The salad was excellent! The steaks were cooked to perfection! Everyone at our table chose either the filet or the ribeye and loved them! The pescatarian in our group had salmon which was fine, but not noteworthy. The sides were mashed potatoes & green beans. They were fine, but clearly not the star of the show. The bartender was excellent and prepared really delicious cocktails.

The food was on par with what to expect from a fine dining restaurant; steaks were cooked to perfection and sides were excellent. What sets this place aside is the service. We were celebrating our anniversary, which normally gets recognition from the server and a complimentary dessert. Capital Grille went much further; a hand written note and table decor, glass of champagne, printed picture of us and a second hand written note mailed to us as a thank you. Nice job (and a thank you) to our server Andrew; this is what keeps customers coming back.

Looking for a terrific steak in Texas? Try the Capital Grille in Austin. I loved everything about this place. Walls adorned with portraits of historical Texas statesmen, I had to,wonder how many political deals were hammered out over a fine dinner in this Austin restaurant. Had two dinners here, one steak and one seafood. Bone-in filet cooked to perfection and the swordfish was absolutely wonderful. Madison was an outstanding server, a true pro. Terrific employees here! Will definately come back!

This is a very good American cuisine restaurant. The dĂŠcor is elegant and quiet. The food is exceptional and wine list is extensive.

First time at any Capital Grille. Ate at the bar and service was great. Got a nice glass of Prisoner wine, ordered the Tuna Tartare which was amazing, topped off with a medium rare Filet Mignon that was cooked perfectly. Kelly the bartender was great and very hospitable. Watched the MNF game between the Bills and Pats the whole time.

Visited while in Austin for a conference. I had the dry aged porter house, Oscar style. It was cooked perfectly and the crab Oscar sauce on top was a perfect compliment to the steak. We also enjoyed the wine event and was able to enjoy about seven different wines throughout the meal. The crab and lobster Mac and cheese was good. Definitely try the bacon wrapped mozzarella as an appetizer, it was delicious.

Capital Grille can be found in many states. They are consistently refined and sumptuous with a well-appointed wine and dinner menu. The filet is a perfect cut of meat cooked exactly as I ordered. You can select from several shareable sides that are equally exquisite. Such a great restaurant!

A true Austin treasure! Excellent service, cordial and unhurried, and a menu with great variety of choices. The food was excellent. This restaurant will work for any occasion and you wonât be disappointed.

Had to find a place to take 14 people for a business dinner. Staff was attentive and accommodating, food was fabulous and my people were very grateful. They loved their meal and service.

First time to this location in Austin. Have dined at many Cap Grilles around the country and am a devout fan. This one did not disappoint. Although I thought the location and layout was not of the typical CG, the service and food were very good. Excellent choice of wines by the glass as well. Would recommend if looking for that special night out. Food and service top notch.

My husband and I dropped in for a quick bite for lunch before a business meeting. Staff was professional. The place was very nice. Food was awesome. My husband had seared tuna and is still talking about it. I had a steak and it was really great. The food was taking a bit longer than expected, so I started getting nervous that we would be late for our meeting. I told a server and the food came out pretty soon after that. Cheri McMonagle, the manager that day, came by, apologized that the food was taking a bit longer that day (a rare occurance), and actually took care of the tab for us! It was such a nice surprise. We often have meetings downtown, and probably wouldn't have gone back to the Grille during lunch if we didn't have at least 2 hours. However, now we know that wasn't normal for the restaurant, so we will definitely be back. Thanks Cheri for taking such great care of your customers. We'll see you again soon!

I live in Denver and the Capital Grille here is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been to several other locations of this chain throughout the US. I found myself at the Austin restaurant and had dinner there recently with a client. I had a decent but not memorable meal. Service was not just spot on like it always is in Denver. Not bad but not great either, frankly Trulucks across the street does a better job at service and food than this place. I did have the lamb chops from the bar menu, always at treat as an appetizer for a meal, and they are not on the main menu but they will always make them for you. We also had side salads and my caesar was good. The lobster mac side dish with my steak was pretty light on lobster but tasty. My steak was done kind of inconsistently. Part was spot on the rest was under done to my liking. Plus, the server did not check to see how our steaks came out which seemed odd. I would not go seek this place out on a future visit, but would go there in a pinch. We went later in the evening when the place was not that busy, even then our service was on the slow side throughout the entire meal.

Tried this out during restaurant week and we enjoyed our meals. I wish I could make the citrus glazed salmon the way that they did; it was excellent. The rest of my party enjoyed their selections as well. Bread was good as were the mashed potatoes and French green beans. I would return!

I had my birthday lunch yesterday with dear friends, Sir Laurence and Lady Karen. The Capital Grille was chosen because we demand perfection and The Capital Grille delivers. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Dominque and taken to our reserved table. To prepare our palates for the delectable delights to come, we ordered a round of Old Fashions. Julie was our server and she did an excellent job in crafting a proper Old Fashioned. Julie mentioned that the Lobster Bisque was on the menu so I had to start off with it. It was absolutely devine, rich, buttery with very generous portions of Maine lobster. Julie also added a bit of dry sherry and fresh cracked black pepper to send it to the ultimate level. I ordered the W & W, Wagyu and Wine, The Wild Mushroom Wagyu Cheeseburger with 15 year old Balsamic and paired it with a Goldeneye 2013 Pinot Noir. This was indeed a match made in heaven. For dessert, I had the decadent Espresso Chocolate Cake and Crème BrÝlÊe served on a birthday platter. To top things off, I had an espresso and on the side, a snifter of Drambuie. Hostess Dominque, Server Julie and Executive Chef Laurence Cohen made this birthday luncheon most memorable. Thank you so much.

The Capital Grille can be found in different cities, and what characterizes it is consistency. The food is consistently excellent, service is consistently good. The day I ate here the place was packed. However, the staff received us with a warm smile and courteous attitude. We were seated almost immediately and service only got better from there on. It felt as if they knew me. The food was superb, in quality, size and taste. Cooked to perfection, our steaks were tender and flavorful without any overpowering spice. And the drinks, especially my vodka martini with three blue cheese olives, were the perfect lubricant for this large meal. A must go restaurant if you crave for good steaks and better service.

Went there for a work function with about 40 other people. We were seated and served drinks in a quick and very professional fashion. We had snacks at the table and food was ordered as we grazed. Food was all presented classically and seasoned perfectly. My steak (NY Strip) was a dead perfect medium. I was quite happy. No jus with the meat, but that is the classic steak house style. Dessert was served tableside and was great. Coffee and drinks arrived after. I did not notice a lull at anytime during the evening. Amazing service, if you barely notice they are there. My sincerest thanks to all the staff.

Maybe we are just lucky. Maye we are particularly lucky to have Lindley as our server again. We had a celebratory dinner for our anniversary. Excellent food. Excellently prepared and served. Excellent service and attention from a raft of unobtrusive people

I ordered a filet mignon and I was not disappointed. The steak was prepared perfectly to order and it had a very great taste. I also could not avoid ordering the lobster mac 'n' cheese, and I did not regret it. The atmosphere was very romantic and relaxing and the service was great.

The Bar features a great Happy Hour, Live Jazz Music, and extensive menu. They are known for their Steaks, but this time I had the seafood and so glad I did. Their service is always exceptional and the food amazing. Located in the heart of the Warehouse District in Downtown Austin.

I absolutely enjoyed the Capital Grille, this in particular was an Anniversary Dinner and I was just blown away. My boyfriend loves oysters and they were great! The chocolate dessert was gone before I could capture it! Thank you Capital Grille for a memories to cherish forever. We enjoyed every bit and shall be back.

We happened to stumble on Capital Grille by accident. What a nice place. The service started slow, as I think they had some confusion on who was going to take the table. So we waited longer than usual before a server came to great us. But once she did, she was wonderful. Everything the 3 of us ordered was great. To top it off, we ordered dessert, which happened to be an apple pie tort of sorts, with in house made vanilla ice cream. That dessert was the bomb! All told a very nice experience and we would go back next time in town.

We just had our anniversary dinner at The Capital Grille on 4th in Austin! Such a truly wonderful experience from start to finish! Our table was decorated and we had an anniversary card from the staff. Everything we ate, from the outstanding seared beef with sweet child sauce, French onion soup, the Kona steak and a glorious 10 oz. lobster tail poached in tarragon butter was mouth watering and a pleasure to eat. Our truly fabulous waiter, James, so personable and knowledgeable and added a great deal to the dining experience as well!! Be sure to ask for him when you go there. Topped the meal off with a miniature creamed brĂťlĂŠe cheesecake and a miniature chocolate torte dusted with Dutch cocoa powder. Simply the best!!!

Brother and I met up in Austin and went here (first time) for dinner. While very pricy it was worth it. Bar area was great and drinks were first rate. We had oysters and filet with sides. The oysters were awesome as were the steaks. We added a great bottle of Shafer 2014 and it was a perfect evening. Best restaurant in Austin.

I wonât write much other than to wholeheartedly recommend this fantastic restaurant. Wonderful service, delicious cocktails and wine and the best steak Iâve ever had. It was out of this world (Porcinni rubbed ribeye). Itâs expensive for sure but actually amazing value. Go.

Took my son to the Capital Grille for dinner. Had one of, if not THE best dining experiences ever. The food was amazing. Lori Ann was our server. She was friendly, attentive and on top of her game. The manager Emily checked on us throughout our meal. We literally could not find enough great things to say about the restaurant, the staff, the management team and the food. 5 stars all around! If you're looking for fine dining in Austin, amazing food and an unforgettable night, visit the Capital Grill and ask for Lori Ann!

Was in Austin on Business and had an evening to myself..so wanted something relaxing, and tasteful. Capital Grille was amazing again. Shrimp Cocktail fresh and filling, 10 ounce fillet done to perfection and the Reisling superb.

Visited for lunch, service was fantastic & friendly. Food delicious. We wish we had time to go back and eat there again. A little pricey but worth it !!

Super friendly staff that go out of their way to ensure you are taken care of. A bit pricey but the experience and service are well worth it. Food is perfection! Waiters become part of the group with their insights and knowledge of the food and wine menus. No pushiness and very relaxed for a restaurant of this caliber.

First time to Captal Grille and really impressed. Filet was perfection with an awesome char! Au Gratin potatoes were top notch but the top off to the evening was the cheesecake! Really good sweet with a caramelized topping.

Capital Grille is one of my favorite destinations when I travel. You can always count on consistent food and service. The location in Austin is no exception. It is in the center of downtown Austin and within walking distance to many of the hotels in the area.

Such a nice evening! Professional and kind service in a cozy atmosphere. Everything was delicious. We shared oysters, truffle fries and asparagus. We both had beautiful steaks. Would go monthly if I lived here.

The atmosphere is classic, the food and service excellent. Twenty-first birthday dinner for my granddaughter. They made it a memorable event. This is our "somewhere special" place in Austin. That it has an elevator for wheelchairs and accommodates my wife's service dog with confederation makes this restaurant a find.

Typical Capital Grille, excellent service crowded and food never disappoints. I made reservations weeks in advance, was notified several times to confirm reservations. We arrived five minutes before our reserved time with a party of 6. We waited 20 minutes for our table. Several of us ordered the thanksgiving turkey special, excellent but no dark meat that was my only disappointed. Those of us who wanted traditional Thanksgiving dinner were very happy with our meal. Nice to have the special and also offer the menu. In walking distance from The Driskill Hotel.

Fantastic. Fabulous Audrey was beyond the best at our care and needs. She was so perfect. Spoiled. Very nice birthday girls weekend celebration. Champagne and vodka was excellent ribeye sandwich grand. The crab cakes melt in mouth and dessert. Wow. We were treated like royalty. Asked to be seated in different location. Immediately addressed and the great customer service began with perfection until we departed. My first time at this restaurant. Highly recommend loved the sheep and deer mounts and the historical paintings. Felt like paradise. The one in Seattle is now on my list!

As out of Towner's, after the conclusion of our conference we celebrated with a bang. My friend got the filet mignon. I got the dry aged sirloin which was crispy and perfect. Both of us added the Oscar, crab bearnaise and asparagus topping however mine was so delicious crispy it was not needed. We shared the superb potatoes which paired perfectly with our steaks after the magnificent wedge salad, drizzled with the blue cheese dressing savoring a hint of Dijon. Pricey but it was a celebration of flavors.

I'm not much on "Chain-Food" though Capital Grille is an exception. That's becasue they are consistently exceptional with their steaks/food, service, and ambiance. This trip was no different. I'd gone to Austin to catch-up with a longtime girlfriend - by the time we chatted etc and got ready to go out it was pretty late for dinner. Even though we came in close to closing time - there was no problem. Some places will frown at you or try to rush you out. They made us feel welcome and unrushed enjoying the very last sip of our bottle of Veuve Clicquot around midnight. Ordered the filet medium rare with the porcini rub, lobster mac & cheese and a wedge salad. Again consistent - no difference between this Capital Grille and my usual one in Houston. Can never go wrong going here! Cary

Plush atmosphere, great steaks and seafood. The meat was great quality cooked to my preference "medium rare plus" perfectly.

I donât think my wife and I can ever have steak again. Words couldnât describe our meal every single item we tasted was a â10.â Our server was Ron and he was excellent. We canât wait to return to Capital Grille of Austin.

This was our first time here. We came in for dinner. We got the Lobster Crab Cakes, Seared Tenderloin With Butter Poached Lobster Tails, and Gorgonzola And Truffle Crusted Dry Aged Bone-In NY Strip. They were all amazing. Honestly, I would've given this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the service. After we got seated, we sat there for several minutes while waiters and other staff walked by but nobody even made eye contact with us. Finally, someone stopped by to get our drink order. Our waters came but still no waiter in sight. When he finally showed up, he was very nice and professional. Our appetizer took forever to arrive. Meanwhile, we didn't get any bread. They only noticed that we didn't get any bread after we got done with our appetizer. They were nice enough to give us some carpaccio samples to keep us busy while the bread arrived. Which, for some reason, took forever. It honestly wasn't even that busy of a night in the restaurant. We finally got our entrees an hour into dinner (not exaggerating). Dinner was amazing. But we continued to get ignored. Water glasses were not refilled until after they sat empty for a while. At the end of the meal, we sat with empty plates for a pretty decent amount of time before they were cleared and we were asked about dessert. Check took forever to show up too. And then of course running the credit card. When it finally came back, they didn't even have the credit card receipt in our book (but they remembered to bring a pen :) ). We decided we just couldn't wait any longer, so we left the tip in cash and left. I would love to go back and give this place another shot. Maybe they were just having an off night. The food is definitely worth the visit.

We fell in love with Capital Grille years ago in Dallas, then again when we lived in Chicago. Having retired in Georgetown, we have wanted do make the trek to downtown Austin and chose to go for our anniversary. This restaurant was absolutely perfect, the food was prepared and presented well, service from Jackie Barros was impeccable and we were made to feel so special. In addition to giving us a complimentary dessert Jackie took pictures of us and gave us a gift certificate for our next visit. All around, a perfect evening and well worth the trip!

For a top rated restaurant it was very disappointing. My NY Strip ordered Medium Rare came out medium and tough. I shared asparagus with my wife and it was disgusting. Thin and brown. My martini was ok, my wifeâs Old Fashioned was overly sweet and not good. Will not return.

These folks have the corporate dinner game down cold. Flex up or down from 8 to 10 or 12, no problem (very unlike other restaurants which would balk at last minute adjustments) Makes me want to use them exclusively for my corporate dinners. Their participation in OpenTable makes it easy to reserve. Food is delicious, service is impeccable.

This was a business trip for me in Austin TX. We were 10 people on the table. The service was superb and no errors. The waiting time for the food was reasonable and the food was great. At one time we had 5 servers bringing the food and cleaning. If you are a mat lover this is the place. Warning: this place is pricey but worth it.

As usual our experience at a Capital Grille was excellent. We dined at many of their locations and this was our first in Austin. The server was very personable and did a wonderful job. If we lived near here we would invite her to our home! (I'm having trouble remembering her name....but I do remember that she just relocated here and she was originally from Kansas----sweet gal!) We ordered the same thing we've ordered at all of our visits to the chain. proscuitto wrapped mozz. A filet filet w/ fig essence tomato & burrata salad triple choc. dessert My husband loves their Old Fashions....and their wine selection is excellent as well.

An upscale dinner with friends. My lamb chops were to die for, my hubby's Ahi Tuna was deliciously delicate. The bread basket selection was something one does not come across too often in restaurants these days; the taste of the warm rolls and various breads peeking out of the crisp white linen serviette still lingers. A return visit to the Capital Grille is, without a doubt, in our immediate future.

I attended a local association meeting at The Capital Grille on Thursday and was very pleased! The service was excellent. In fact, I've never seen so many waiters, servers, and bus people in any restaurant! They attended to all of us, as though we were family. The food was delicious! The atmosphere was great - they had our meeting in the front bar area. Thank you for a wonderful time!

I have eaten here before but in the bar. This time we decided to eat try the formal dining room. What a different experience! To start with our table wasnât ready when we arrived. Not a big deal in itself, but not an ideal way to start what is supposed to be a fancy night out - four of us left standing in the doorway for 15 minutes. We were shown to our table and seated. We were told our wait staff would be along shortly.....it took a rather long time to see this guy. Anyway, I said yes and continued to wait for the drinks to arrive.....during this wait we had some good conversation and I noticed how much noisier the Restaurant was than the Bar, interesting as its usually the other way around. Not a problem, just something to note. The waiter finally reappeared, although still without drinks, to take our dinner order. Now I donât know about you, but one thing I hate, especially in what is supposed to be a nice restaurant, is when wait staff just appear at your table and talk over the conversation rather than waiting for a convenient break. This guy just appeared and shouted over me, while I was talking - so rude and so poorly trained! I wonât go into further detail of the evening other than to say that the bread was fabulous, the steaks were good quality although massively over salted (if you have steaks there make sure to ask for them un-seasoned), we had to carve off the outer layer of meat to get rid of the salt, and the slow service just got slower still. The Bar deserves 6 stars (out of 5!). The restaurant should get 2, considering how pricey the place is. It is a mass market franchise masquerading as a one off fine dining establishment. They do not put the necessary training nor policies in place to support their perceived place in the market.

The dry aged steaks, super fresh seafood, craft cocktails, and fine wine make this fine dining Steakhouse an absolute must. The service is impeccable from start to finish and I have never been disappointed here. Make sure you save room for dessert, it will be worth it.

Cannot be faulted. Would go back in a heartbeat. Great location. Can't say anything more to recommend this restaurant. If you get a chance go! It's a bit pricey but worth it.

My wife and I decided to join our best friends for dinner at the Capital Grille and overall the experience was nice. Our reservation was completed online via their website, and when I had to call to update our time, we did not experience any issues. We found parking at 4th and Guadalupe within the state parking garage-$10, and is about 2-3 blocks from the restaurant. There is valet parking, price unknown. We started at the bar while we waited for our company to show up, there is a great selection of drinks and the atmosphere was good for being able to carry on a conversation. As we were seated, the four of us were placed at a round table that really either needed to be bigger or we should have sat at a booth. The amount of items on the table is quite busy and does not make for much room to eat. For dinner I ordered a NY Strip-Medium, side-salad, and then my wife and I split the mashed potatoes and the asparagus in-between the two of us. My issue with my food was when my steak came out it was severely under-cooked; the steak is a very large, thick cut. When ordering, be sure to take that into consideration. By the time my steak came back, everyone was close to finishing, and then my steak was over-cooked. It was "ok", but for the price I was hoping the experience could have been better. Everyone else in my group who liked to eat their steak medium-rare were all content with their steaks. Overall, my experience was good, service was great, but unless management could guarantee me that my food would come out as ordered I do not see myself returning.

Had expected more. Lobster bisque was floury & tough lobster bits. Seared tuna salad below average quality- salad was not fresh.

My wife and I visited Austin for our anniversary and there was no shortage of options for a great dinner. We settled on Capitol Grill after asking advice of many locals and were extremely satisfied with our choice. From apps to desert every bite was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. They also set up a few great anniversary surprises since I noted that when I booked online. I'm sure the service is top notch throughout but if you are lucky enough to have Mr. Gene Walker I can guarantee you that your expectations will be surpassed. Splendid job all the way around by the Capitol Grill staff.

The service was fabulous. Ryan our server was very professional and very friendly. Never had to wait for refills of water. The steak, bone in ribeye was cooked to perfection. The side dishes, perfect! The appetizers were great, beautiful presentation. Love the pan fried calamari, and the shrimp cocktail. Perfect place to have Ana amazing steak or fish meal.
1st Time Experience!
I will write this as my experience unfolds: Why would any upscale restaurant serve rock hard whipped butter with one slightly warm roll and one cold flatbread? The very large plate of greens arrive with 4 half slices cherry tomatoes, nothing else, no toasted croutons, small cheese shreds. I was seated in a nice booth but the A/C is blowing right down on me, Ron, my waiter brings me a warm pashmina! Thank you Ron! Yay! Found scallions in my salad.... Ok moment of hope and truth: the NY arrives, supposed to be medium but is a little beyond rare! đŁ To Rons credit he agrees and whisks it away for adjustment.... but the restaurant is next to empty.....why?? This time manager brings it back and the interior Still undercooked?!?!?!? Ok well I will eat what I can, the flavor is Delicious! The side of Brussels are wonderful but why is it the trend to excessively sweeten them? They really are soooo good without all the added sugar! Overall I'm good with the meal.
