Worth the price.

By Wayne C |

Went knowing the price was high, so were expectations. Capital Grille did not disappoint. Server Susan was very helpful and cheerful. Ordered bone-in ribeye medium, turned out perfectly cooked, juicy, flavorful. Seasoning felt a little too strong, overwhelming close to the end though. Desserts were up to standards. Had a great experience here, would definitely recommend. 一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一一

Late meal

By Swasserman |

Arrived late into Houston. Grabbed sliders at the bar which were generous and tasty. Good drinks and friendly bartender.

Always a winner

By stefanl70 |

This is like many other Capital Grille a winner. Great food, even better service. They really care about special wishes. Also I like the wine pad with all the information about your wine

Visit to Rice University

By Camille Y |

After having an amazing dining experience in DC last spring at The Capital Grille, my son and I decided to visit the Houston Capital Grille. While it wasn't quite as fabulous as the Washington DC restaurant, we still had a lovely meal. The oysters were truly perfect: briny and fresh. The Caesar salad was good. I always am wowed with tableside prep of this salad at a good steakhouse so there is room for improvement. We each had the filet. Mine was perfectly cooked medium rare, but my son's was a tad underdone, but still delicious. He had the lava cake for dessert and I managed to snag a bite and it too was excellent. My cocktail was delicious and the service excellent.

Excellent steaks, rushed service

By Felipe R |

This restaurant is a Steak mainstay in Houston. Classy dark interior and elegant urban-Western décor. For this business dinner, we had a range of seafood appetizers and steak main courses. The crab-cakes are a delight. Likewise, the steaks are very very solid – one cannot go wrong here. Absolutely delicious. Prices are accordingly. 1 point deduction though for the rush. I don’t understand why one cannot enjoy the food in time. The appetizer plate is literally pulled away while eating only to have the main course placed in front of you. It really takes away from the experience. The same is true for the nagging questions for a refill while glasses are not empty. Give the guests some room to breathe.

Consistently good

By Tom P |

Capital Grille is one of my wife and I's favorite places on "date night". Service and food is high quality and consistently good. Never been disappointed.

Excellent Service and Extra Touches!

By Goplaces63888 |

Recently had an anniversary dinner here, food was great and the service from John was excellent. Personalised service with a rose for my wife, table decorations, card, free appy and special dessert was all done perfect. Topped off with a picture for the night and a visit from the Manager.

A Delightful Dinner

By William D |

Had a lovely dinner and a wonderful waiter. Got there early for our reservation and the restaurant was packed and buzzing within 30 minutes. Decided on the Food Bank menu. I had a ceasar salad, porcini rubbed tenderloin, cheesecake and a glass of duckhorn napa merlot. The salad was fine but a bit on the weak side as it was mass produced in the kitchen. The tenderloin was perfect (medium rate) but I could not taste the procini rub. The cheesecake and the wine were very good. Service was actually very good and attentive. We will be back but I have had better meals here.

Just ok

By Sarah K |

Just ok food, and the service was not great. We had a nice waitress but we were passed off to her after our first waiter who was quiet and not hospitable.

Great service! High end menu!

By smartin481 |

The service was excellent! The food is pricey! Elegant dining experience, I would recommend this restaurant, don't forget your wallet lol

Excellent Steak

By Michelle M |

Steak in Texas. What could be better? The staff is knowledgeable and helpful from choosing a wine, main course, sides and dessert. They are also responsive to any additional requests. Great food. Fantastic ambiance for couples or groups.

New Years Eve dinner

By Lizardia |

Going out on New Years Eve was not as bad as I thought. We'd made reservations early and were given a great table. The Steak was a little past medium rare. I'll start ordering rare to medium rare in the future. The food was good. The service was good. Nothing stood out. Steak tartare was very yummy!!!! It's an old Houston standard steakhouse.

Houston Restaurant Week - Yes!

By ppettyHtown |

We went to the Capital Grille for HRW. The restaurant offered some additions to the HWR menu for a small up-charge which was a very nice option. One of us chose the lobster bisque for an extra five dollars. That choice was well worth it! Lots of lobster meat in a very delicious cream bisque. Some of the best bisque ever! And the filets were outstanding per usual: Buttery flavor, cooked to perfection. The sides of smashed potatoes and French greens beans were also very good. Best of all was the cheesecake with berry topping and fresh fruit. The portion was smaller but really great with a sugar crust on top like a creme brûlée. Probably one of the better HRW options and a bargain for $45 at one of Htown’s best steak houses. You will be glad you helped the Houston Food Bank and have an excellent meal for your effort!

Great steak

By avalle12018 |

First of all the appetizers were amazing the lobster bisque was delicious. The lobster Mac and cheese was one of the best side dishes I’ve ever had and the Strip steak was made exactly the way I wanted. The wine list will not disappoint and will compliment everything on the menu you will not be disappointed here. Will go again if I visit Houston

Lively Saturday Night

By Briarpatcher |

Our party of 7 had a sort of quiet table near the kitchen on a lively Saturday night. There were few if any empty tables and the atmosphere was boisterous but we could still carry on our conversations. Everyone either ordered Salmon or Steak and there were no complaints. A table starter of fried calamari was well received as were sides of sautéed spinach, mac and cheese and grilled asparagus. The take away from our fun dinner is that even on a loud, crowded Saturday night you can have a great meal, share good conversation and thoroughly enjoy yourself at the Capital Grill.

Outstanding NY aged

By Andre O |

Outstanding NY aged, can’t ask for better one. Service was great at a classic ambiance. Probably reservations must be done, we went without it and get seated right away, it was a sunday night. It was my first visit and for sure will return.

Stylish, classy, and full of gourmet delights

By red11hed |

A must eat while on Westheimer, great location, upscale décor, and without doubt delicious food...You have tons of choices on Westheimer but this should be your only one for fine dinning. The entire staff is run brilliantly by the manager named Steve. If you have a choice then ask for Jason; for the best attentive waiter. Your needs will be well taken care of in his hands. The Delmonico steak is above-excellent compared to Ruth's, and Vic & Anthony's The Lobster bisque is the best in Houston hands down. If you are looking for Lobster than it's deliciously prepared using only the finest ingredients. Then finish your meal off with the entire dessert tray!

GREAT FOOD

By jld4243 |

We had lunch here and found the steaks to be wonderful. Not the best I've ever had, but very good. The service was excellent and the decor is subtle and elegant.

Quite but consistent

By mackswim |

Stopped by and sat at the bar for dinner as I was solo. Food is very good, bartender attentive. Other customers there were obviously regulars but not local, business travellers. I had a side salad, truffle fries and a glass of wine for $40. That's ok on an expense account but pricy on your own pocket. I was happy for the comfortable place and good food.

amazing 🤗

By MarieChristineh |

beautiful restaurant, great food , NY steak was amazing ! good service ! Carl best waiter !!! 😜🇺🇸👍🏽

Super steaks in a cosy restaurant.

By norgaardikast |

We had the pleasure to eat at this cosy restaurant, located close to the Galleria shopping mall. The food was fresh, well prepared and service was excellent and very attentive. I had the Porter house steak - a 24 ounces T-bone steak cooked to perfection, served with parmesa and truffles, as well as grilled green asparagus. If in Houston this restaurant is absolutely worth a visit. Jens

Classic Steakhouse

By HoustonFoodAndWine |

I eat at upscale steakhouses probably 4-5 times a year, and each time I do so I am reminded of how much I enjoy this style of dining. The rich and savory cuts of meat, the plentiful bounty of family-style sides, the cocktails and wine, and the friendly service. This time around my wife & I dined at The Capital Grille with some of our friends for a Houston Restaurant Weeks + Generous Pour duo and it was fantastic. Not only is the Generous Pour an absolute bargain (especially given that this year's highlight was Duckhorn wines) but this year's Houston Restaurant Week's menu was also particularly well-crafted and thoughtful. While this was both my wife & I's first time dining at The Capital Grille I can easily foresee it not being our last time.

Good food

By Lauraann N |

First time going to Capital Grille. Unbelievable steaks, lobster Mac and cheese is to die for. Expensive but could have taken steak home, if I wasn't so hungry. I had the balsamic steak, delicious.

Excellent food. Well informed staff.

By tempsc |

Just back from business trip to Houston. Business meal out demanded the Capital Grill on Westheimer. Staff attentive. Well informed and working with an excellent menu. Wide choice of wines. True. Everything is expensive here. Food, wine and bar drinks. Decor is a little dark for my taste but that doesn't affect the food does it? All in all, would recommend.

Superb food and service

By bjornarhuse |

Again shows why the Capital grille chain is actually worth the price. Fantastic seafood starter and perfect steak as a main, courteous waiter (from Armenia) with an excellent wine choice for the food.

Birthday dinner

By Latasha H |

I visited the location yesterday, we had reservations for 6pm. When i walked into the restaurant the manager and a waiter were standing behind the hostess desk. I stood there for over 5 minutes and was never greeted by either person. I called the person to asked where were we sitting and had to walk myself to the sit while on the phone while she directed me to the table. Once the dinner came out my steak wasn’t medium real it was cook well done and dry. I didn’t complain about the steak because the waiter wasn’t very attentive to our table. Once the bill came one of the person I was having dinner saw a mistake on her bill, when she got the attention of the waiter to tell him he immediately told her gratuity is add when there is a party of 6 or more. However the waiter didn’t give her a chance explain that he made a mistake on her bill. I asked for a manager but at this time I was ready to go.

Date night

By Taylor Cusack |

What a fun date night place. The staff was wonderful and welcoming, the food was spectacular and the drinks were delicious. Will be back.

Best steak of my life

By Antti K |

Incredible meat and 5 star service. They didn't know how to make a proper Hendricks tonic (the cucumber goes in the drink) but that's ok. I forgive.

Date Night

By Shelly D |

My husband and I were looking for a nice place to eat in the Houston area when our hotel clerk Gladys recommend The Capital Grille within walking distance of us. (Double Tree Inn by the Galleria) I'm SO glad we talked to Gladys because our food & experience was phenomenal! We started off with the absolute best calamari I've ever had. I had to try a cup of lobster bisque (Gladys again) it was just as good as she said 😍 For our entrée I got the surf & turf (fillet mignon w/ lobster tail) and my husband got the sliced fillet over onions & mushrooms I saved room for the creme' brûlée & espresso. IT WAS ALL PERFECT!! The atmosphere, the service & especially the food. I wish I had the option to give it 10 stars!!

Great, iconic, nighborhood gem

By AlphaNation |

This place has been around for sometime now and seen its' fair share of how much Houston has changed. But, Capital Grille has remained true to its brand and upheld a high standard of dining and food quality over the years. Great food! Good wine list to match!

Great place for lunch and learn event

By SMB80 |

I love the Capital Grille. I have been to 3 different ones in 1.5 weeks. This is a great place for personal, business and wine. I used if for all and it never disappoints. Classy and consistent every time! Staff was very good and made my lunch and learn event exceptional. The staff was extremely helpful from the moment I valeted my car, helped me carry in my packages, got me some tea while helping me set-up, tested the audio and provided a great experience for my clients. Maddy was very helpful and it was a true success. The waitstaff was very attentive and aware of the needs of the attendees while serving during the presentation. I would definitely recommend hosting a small event here in the side room. Thank you all!

Great Steaks

By Dianne W |

The steaks, we both ordered filet mignon, were wonderful. The service was outstanding. They have a nice wine list. My husband said the oysters were great. My shrimp cocktail was okay. The sides we ordered were okay, mushrooms and green beans. If I returned to Houston, I would go back.

Nice aged meat

By Space2035 |

I have been to Capital Grille many times, almost all the time on Fridays. I try coming on Thursday around 6 or 7pm, and forget it, it's packed. You can't even find a seat at the bar. The hostess who you meet as soon as you walk in once told me that they have "regulars" who come in. Who goes to a steak house regularly? Anyways, whenever you go, eat the 24 ounce dry aged Porterhouse steak. The Filet Mignon side of this steak is godly. You can taste the fact that it is dry aged, at the back of your tongue. It's massive obviously. And obviously it's pricey, but not any more pricier than other steakhouses like Palm, Smith and Wollensky and Ruth Steak house. But it beats them all in taste.

Excellent Dining Expereience!

By Erin D |

We always love the Capital Grille. You know what you are going to get which is good service and good food. Love the wine selection. Love the lobster mac and cheese.

A must go. This reatasurant is well run. Kudos to Steven mgr.

By Bo B |

Over an over I have mentioned this to be one of the finer capital grills. How does one, a pauper I might add get a wine locker:?

Short pours on the glass of wine, rude and obnoxious host.

By soflodoug2000 |

Place is about a stuffy a crowd as youll find. Lol, bar full of old men with appearant escorts hand feeding them and one guy blurping out curses to himself. Wine pour was short the graft they used was just over half full and they explained how they dont want to spill it or something like that as an excuse to short you on a common pour of a glass of wine. I was there for dinner for 2 probably would have spent about $200.00 but when the cocky host had the correct amount of wine poured into my glass and then said we cant do this again I told him im closing out and my date and myself went to another competitor of this restaurant close by. Ive eaten at this chain before in miami and it was very professional and properly operated by mature and professional people not some snotty host who could care less if you ate there or not appearantly. Would never set foot in there again.

Early Valentines Day Delight

By Eric A |

Always a great meal at the Capital Griile. My wife and I went out for an early Valentine's Day dinner and had one of the best meals in our 10 years of dating. The Lobster Bisque is the best I have had ever. We both ordered Surf and Turf, which consisted of Filet Mignon and Rock Lobster. Absolutely perfect! Our server Michael was fantastic. After dinner we received chocalte strawberries with Champagne. Great place for a romantic dinner.

Great food and service

By TeresaCassar |

Had a lovely dinner here on New Year’s Eve - food, service and ambiance was excellent. Would go again.

Excellent

By sjlloyd |

From the moment we entered the "Grille " we were treated as if we were the most important clients. The meal was well prepared, the service was prompt, courteous and discreet. The ambience was perfect for a quiet meal at the end of the day.

Excellent Food & Great Service

By texanscot99 |

Celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary here. Lobster and crab cakes to start - served with a fresh and bright corn relish. They were delicious! Bone-in filet was perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth tender and had fantastic flavor. Complimentary dessert courtesy of Jeff who looked after us in expert fashion. A great meal - fantastic food well prepared and served. I'd certainly recommend a visit to the Capital Grille when you have a chance.

Rude manager

By Kelly K |

First, I will give the positives. Paige, one of the bartenders was awesome and an absolute delight. This was my first time experiencing this restaurant so I was happy with the introduction to this location, as I was meeting up with a potential beau. After he showed up, we spent awhile at the bar excitedly acclimating ourselves to each other after speaking on the phone for a while. Unfortunately, this excitement was obviously mistaken for belligerence by the (what I'm assuming to be) manager who, when I shared that we were ready for a table, proceeded to tell me that we wouldn't be served any more alcohol until we ate something. Now, at this point, he had one glass of wine and I had one and a half (since I ended up having to wait for him). While taken aback by his comment, I let him know that I agreed that we needed to eat and that's why I was letting them know that we were ready for our table. My date stated that this was highly offensive. However, to keep up the momentum of a great date, I brushed it off and we continued our meal. Our waiter was amazing! I wish I could remember his name! We did close down the restaurant (I'm always one of the last people at restaurants, smh) and was confronted by the rude manager again, telling us to leave (in a rude way!)! I've eaten at way better establishments in Houston, have drank way more at the bar and, have closed many of them down. I have never been accosted so rudely by a manager at any of these other locations! True, we are high energy people and were exuberant to meet each other in person but the manager at this establishment was out of line and highly offensive. They have totally lost any more of our business!

Bar staff on point

Every time I have been there the food and service have been outstanding. It is a quiet place and you can hear yourself and others around you. Great for conversing either business or personal.

Guaranteed amazing food and excellent service

Delightful ambience, delicious fresh oysters, excellent succulent steaks accompanied by world class wines (worth consulting the in-house Sommelier as they store some real gems). The service is discreet and professional.

Excellent as always

By red1990 |

We had another great dinner in the bar at the Capital Grill on Westheimer on Sunday night. They have added another big TV to watch sports in the lounge area and it is great. Service and food were wonderful as always. They just do an excellent job.

Great steak house, as expected

We enjoyed our dinner here. We had not been here in 15 years, so our memories were a little old. The staff was great, the food was great and the atmosphere was great.

Beautiful old school setting with outstanding service - first impressions. Entree and Main were both exceptional - knowledgeable waiter recommendations were so delicious. Steak had an amazing rub and was very tender. I can't fault this dining experience and looking forward to the next visit.

Great Dinner at The Capital Grill

By red1990 |

We love this place. We have dinner here several times a week. Great service and wonder people. The food is always great.

Bar so cool, almost forgot dinner!

By SanDiegoCouple2 |

We were meeting friends for dinner, checking in at the bar first. The bar staff and space were so inviting we stayed there 45 minutes past our reservation time!! The hostess was gracious in accommodating us. We were seated for a beautful meal with some of the best steak I have eaten! The steaks, all cuts including tenderloin and ribeye, were perfectly prepared and presented. The sides were sufficient to share among four of us with the mushrooms being a favourite! Always happy to have an excuse to visit the Capital Grille for delicious meal!

Spectacular again

By drdavies |

Capital Grille in any city is my favorite steak restaurant. When I have the pleasure of going to the Houston - Galleria location where I am immediately greeted by people who actually recognize me though I was last at this location more than a year ago. My favorite drink here is concord grape. When I sat down they had it at my table, chilled and ready to go, without my ever mentioning it. Nice touch. I had the bacon appetizer - an unbelievably scrumptious dish with bacon more than an inch thick (maybe 1.5?) on a surprisingly seasoned tomato jam. Then the best wedge in all of restaurant land. With extra lardons of bacon - cubes of mostly meaty bacon about 3/4 inch cubed. Extra lardons brought to the table without my asking, The smile of a bacon lover is clearly enough and they picked up on it. I had the 32 ounce porterhouse cooked medium rare. Perfection to the seventh power. And a side of smashed tatoes, I stopped there, though their desserts are wonderful. My server was Jacob Torres. He was spot on all night. I dined solo, and they never made me feel out of place, though that cannot be said for >80% of fine dining places. Still my favorite place.

Red carpet treatment - ALWAYS!

By Elizabeth A |

The staff accommodating every need for our group of 30 over Super Bowl weekend. We were all very pleased. They never disappoint.

Worth every penny!

By SweetCLV |

Went for our first visit to The Capital Grille as part of Restaurant Weeks benefiting the Houston Food Bank. I had always wanted to try this place out but for a family of 5 it always seemed too pricey. My husband and I went with friends as the Restaurant Weeks menu was to good to pass up. The food was fantastic. I started out with a wedge salad that was very delicious. Next was my filet. I am a very picky eater, but our server was pleasant, patient and the chef delivered it cooked to my extreme satisfaction. Our desserts were very good and the perfect portion. I'm not sure if the size of the desserts is typical or just part of the Restaurant week menu, but I was happy. It was just enough to satisfy and not over stuff you. Plus it tasted like you were really indulging, but the portion made you not feel bad about it! Our server was helpful, attentive and did a fabulous job. We did not feel rushed and enjoy the wine he suggested. I will go back, but not with the kids. I'll keep this as a good date night place. If you don't mind spending a pretty penny for an excellent meal, give this place a try.

Smaller quieter room sections

By TxBamaEx |

We love the Capital Grille. The prime steaks are premier. A huge CG advantage remains the smaller and quieter sections of the restaurant that project and implement a more intimate environment. They do it well.

Fantastic!

By Cindy M |

I brought 26 people to the Capital Grille last month for a business dinner. Not only was the food delicious but more than anything the service was out standing! Jean Gundy was exceptional! Her enchanting personality along with her warm smile helped make our evening just perfect. Thank you for fabulous service!

Disappointing

By Tom D |

This was the first time my wife and I had been here in a long time. While the ambiance was typically steakhouse and our waitress was exceptional, the food was a total let down. Calamari starter was way too big even to share as well as cooler than it should have been and greasy. The $42 halibut was dry beyond being edible, the sprouts were cloyingly sweet and the mashed potato was just too ‘doctored’ to be pleasant. My wife had the citrus salmon which again was sweet and not terribly warm. The waitress and a nice bottle of Gavi were the only saving graces. Won’t be back.

Nice restaurant

By Beth T |

We had a reservation for 8:30. If you can’t get in, visit the bar. We went there to wait. We ended up staying. Our waitress was very accommodating to what we needed even though it was in the bar area. The Stoli drink (pineapple infused vodka) is a must. We had dessert and it was delicious. We had the warm chocolate cake and the coconut cream! Both were delicious!

Dinner before going to a play

By Terry F |

Excellent food and service as always, love the decor inside, Steaks, seafood are excellent, the cloudless chocolate cake is delicious.

Fabulous restaurant.

By Christineaf1955 |

Luxuriously appointed, we had a very comfortable booth. Loved the artwork and bronzes decorating this classic restaurant. Also loved the open kitchen, always good to watch the cooking process. Our meal was very good, and like everything in Texas - HUGE! Well located very close to The Galleria shopping mall. Good, helpful valet. Highly recommended.

Another excellent experience.

By integrator1 |

Always good. Food , service, atmosphere very good, as always. Attentive staff. Food cooked to order. Pleasant overall dining experience.

One Not So Great Experience Will Keep Us from Going Back

By mklsu1977 |

Between this location and the one in City Center we've probably eaten at Capital Grille 10 times or more. I will start by saying this, the food has always been good. It's why we have continued to go back. For this reason I could not in good conscience rate it lower than 3 stars. I firmly believe you will have a good food experience here. The service on the other hand... They also run great promotions (Wagyu and Wine, Generous Pour, etc.). In fact, it was the Wagyu and Wine where we had a non-enjoyable visit. We showed up (Westheimer) and the bar area was full. I believe the Wagyu and Wine is only available in the bar. We waited a few minutes and noticed a couple leave from a table so we grabbed it. This is when the waitress came over to tell us that the bar area table, which was supposed to be open seating, was reserved. At this point it could have gone a number of ways. I would have been OK with being served Wagyu and Wine in the normal dining area, waiting for another table or even driving to City Center. We were told we could stay at the table and she took our order. No problem. And after delivering our glasses of wine that's where the service ended. The couple who had "reserved" the table arrived a few minutes later and continued to uncomfortably look over at us. Our bus boy and the kitchen staff served our food but by the time it arrived we were out of wine without a visit from our server. Yes it was busy and I get that but it still doesn't answer why our server was able to check on the 3 tables next us 4 times, including the "reserved" table guest, but only came back to deliver our bill. Why would you walk over and stop at each table but walk past ours? She didn't even ask if we wanted anything else to drink. Not that we really wanted it by this time. We were feeling like we weren't welcome and just wanted to leave. The food is good and we may be back to the one in City Center but according to my wife we will not be back to this location. There are just too many other great restaurants in Houston to go back to some place where the rules are apparently bent for some and where others are made to feel unwelcome.

great meal

By Andrew J |

we had flown in from new zealand and had an excellent meal from appetizer to dessert all perfect, great service too. porcini steak was the standout.

Perfect Anniversary Celebration

By Tanya B |

We love celebrating our anniversary at Capital Grille. The rose and the Anniversary card along with table decorations always makes me feel special. My husband had the filet and I enjoyed the scallops with parsnip purée. We always have the potatoes Au gratin as a side. Our server, Tarek was excellent. He took our picture and gave to us as a souvenir and brought champagne and delicious dessert to finish off our evening celebration. Thank you Tarek and Capital Grille Houston! We had a wonderful evening.

Great Food and Great Service on a Busy Saturday Night

By Helene S |

Fantastic date night without the kids. Place is bustling and romantic at the same time. Sat in a booth for extra privacy. Had the Red Snapper special-perfectly grilled fish served over couscous and carrots. The Chilean Sea Bass over mushrooms was delicious as well. Our server, Carl L.. was great, but our busboy, Cesar, was amazing as he anticipated our every need. Thanks for the extra TLC.

The very best steakhouse eat-in or take-out - even the bread is the best

By drdavies |

Capital Grille Galleria has long been my favorite restaurant in the world. Tonight I got a hankering for the bread, and could not stay for a sit-down dinner, so I did take-out. I usually get the porterhouse but under this situation I go the strip. By the time I was able to eat the steak it was cold. Even cold, the flavor and texture of this steak was fabulous. A complex beefy flavor that doe not need any sauce. I was amazed that the cold steak was so much better than the steak at other restaurants. Simply, magic. The wedge had ample cold crispy lettuce, unique lardons of bacon, and creamy tangy dressing. Not only great for steak, this place has the best wedge salad. But, my original hankering was the bread. Their warm bread is spectacular, but the bread even when cold was very flavorful. My crazy trek through 30 miles of heavy traffic to get bread at Capital Grille was vindicated by the spectacular bread. I am going to do that again.

Nice place for dinning in downtown Houston

By maherakh |

We went there with friends and family for one friend’s daughter graduating. It was good overall, food and drinks, their salads were not impressive and the service was slow and not stellar, but is was ok overall

Great dinner experience

By SteveA |

My daughter selected this restaurant for her birthday, it was my first time there. I would say the service is the biggest highlight of this restaurant. They had our table reserved with a Birthday card which added a special touch. Our waitress Shandreika was outstanding. She had great attitude, very attentive to every need and made the entire dinner. The food was good overall with some highs and lows. Appetizers: crab cake are good and fresh but the calamari is the star. It was cooked to perfection and the peppers added a surprise level of flavor. Lobster bisque was outstanding, French onion soup was good. The fish is fresh and cooked to perfection. From the dishes we ordered the swordfish was cooked to perfection. I decided to try the ribeye with balsamic vinegar, didn’t find it a great combination which was sad since the meat was very tender and cooked to perfection. We were having great time and we ordered a lot of food that I didn’t bother to send it back but definitely would not order it again. Side dishes were good except the lobster Mac and Cheese that was out of this world. I would have it for a meal by itself. Side dishes portions were big and meant for sharing. The desserts were good. From the food we tried, I see they have fresh products and they care for details. It was hard to give 5 stars since I didn’t like my dish but there was a lot that was great items and the outstanding service made up for it. Prices are not cheap, but it is in line with fine restaurants. Since my daughter liked this place I am sure we will go back again, for sure I would order the steak with no sauce on it:)

Dinner

Excellent service and food. Ate in the bar, specials are offered but ordered from main menu. Filet and lobster were excellent. Shaved Brussel sprouts salad was good but a bit overdressed. Had the 'in fashion' - very strong but good!

Excellent

While in Houston, I revisited The Capital Grille having eaten there on a previous visit, well worth it. The staff were friendly and welcoming, food was fantastic, I left there very happy and well fed :)

Steak dinner and info!

Nice relaxing dinner- don't be in a rush, dress nice, be prepared to spend money. Great place for celebrating any occasion. Make reservations for the weekend. Be aware it's all a la carte! Food cooked to your specifications- with great taste. Adult atmosphere, no recommended for children- upscale dinning with valet parking. Plan on $100 per person. If you want a good steak eat here.

Best Place for a Wonderful Birthday Dinner

By ScenicWanderer |

First time in Houston and it was my birthday. Our hotel was right across the street from The Capital Grille and our Concierge made birthday reservations for my husband and I. What a welcome we were given! The table was nicely decorated with glitter and a birthday card signed by the staff. Our meal was wonderful - I ordered the Ribeye Steak and a Lobster Tail and it was yummy. For dessert we were presented with a nice picture of the two of us, a flute of champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries - all complimentary, of course!!! It was a very memorable birthday dinner from a great staff.

Didn't disappoint!

By KDM2013 |

This was a highly recommended restaurant to us while visiting Houston and they didn't disappoint! Amazing service, amazing food, amazing atmosphere. Would return when back in Houston! Thank you!

40th anniversary trip

By imacroy |

My wife and I returned to Houston after our first visit 40 years ago. The capital Grill was suggested as a place to dine. I checked off the special occasion box on line. The restaurant is easy to drive by because there is not a sign, just the name on the building. Our table was set with a rose in a vase and rose petals on the table. Jason our waiter was fantastic. He took our picture and place it in a cardboard frame. The food was great. The best bone in NY strip I ever had. When it came time for dessert. a small sampling of two items was presented on a plate with happy anniversary scripted in chocolate. It was not cheap but worth every single dollar.

Always a pleasure

Great service, outstanding food and ambiance...CG never disappoints, no matter the city. Accommodating and delicious!

Excellent as usual

By Bill R |

My wife and I like to celebrate our anniversary and other occasions at this excellent steakhouse. I don't usually put anything down when making the reservation as to it being a special occasion but several years ago we mentioned to our waitress we were celebrating and now they remember every time. It is very nice to be welcomed with anniversary greetings and recognition. Cap it all off with excellent service and food that is high quality, cooked to perfection and very tasty and this restaurant is hard to beat. Our waiter on this occasion (Carl) was, like all before him, very professional and attentive without being intrusive. We look forward to our next visit.

A Capital Experience

By L774TRbarbarad |

The Capital Grille hosted The Houston Concierge Association and WOW we were all impressed. It starts with the rich ambiance. Dark wood and mood lighting lends itself to impressive drinks and delicious fare. Service is impeccable. Jonathan and Francisco kept our plates full and glasses filled. Customer service at the finest level. Thank you Rodrigo Mosquella for your excellent hospitality. HCA will certainly be referring our hotel guests, and personally returning.

Just GREAT!

By red1990 |

Had a business dinner here the other night and it was excellent. The food and the service was great as always. The lobster bisque was fabulous as always as we're the lamb chops. The people here are wonderful and they make your evening very special for any occasion. Great management. One of my favorite restaurants!

Great place for steak

By Tony T |

Been here on several occasions. Was full during the OTC week. Server was professional, food was good. Asked for medium rare but it came mostly medium done on my steak except for the bone vicinity. Great place, great food and ambient but pricey.

Very good food BUT

By ppettyHtown |

When we arrived, the hostess tried to sit us at the very back of the restaurant at a very tight booth. Apparently since we were two older female patrons, she thought we would be OK with this. We returned to the front and asked for something more comfortable and were accommodated. Why do restaurants do this to older ladies dining out? But the food was delicious: beef tender medallions and lobster tails; bacon and tomato jam appetizer; and chicken with Parmesan risotto. Yum. BUT service not up to expectation. For example, after finishing our appetizer, no one removed our plates. Then when one of the waitstaff brought our entrees, we had to pick up and hold them while the waiter put our entrees on the table. Bad form. We don’t work there! And our original waiter never came by to see if we were happy with our entree or needed anything else. The next time we saw the waiter was to see if we wanted dessert. Very good food. Service, not so much. And if you are two older ladies dining out, oh well...

Just great as always

By red1990 |

My wife and I had dinner in the Bar lounge last Thursday night to watch the Texans game and it was wonderful as always. Great food and fabulous staff. Everyone always goes overboard to help and make sure our experience is the best. One of our favorite places for dinner in Houston. Where ever you decided to eat, either the bar lounge or bar or the main dining your will be well taken care of. Outstanding staff and excellent food. You will not be sorry you went to the Capital Grill for dinner.

Perfect for a special occasion

By arcgrafx |

The Capital Grille has incredible steaks that melt in your mouth. The wait staff is highly attentive. Ambiance is elegant and classy. I would recommend any of their locations for a special occasion or for a client dinner to impress.

Great Food Great Price for the ambiance, Great Service, Just a Great Place

One of the best

By Nancy M |

From the minute you walk in, you feel welcomed. Staff is professional and respectfully friendly. Pan seared bass was amazing, sliced fillet mignon superb, wedge salad one of the best. They don’t rush you, serve the best cocktails and go out of the way to assure you have the best dining experience. Susan our waitress was a joy.

wonderful experience

By KatieG958 |

This was my second time at Capital Grill -- the first was lunch several years ago with my husband, this was for dinner with colleagues. Both experiences were wonderful. Everything from the atmosphere, the wait staff, the food – all of it was top-notch. Wheelchair access was easy to move about. In some cases the tables might have been tight, but the hostess was aware of things and seated us in a perfect spot. I will certainly return next time I’m in town.

Perfectly cooked steak

Cozy atmosphere in the Wine Room

By Frank_19661117 |

We yesterday had a Business Dinner in the Wine Room. Jessica made an excellent job and treated us as really good friends and valuable guests! The meat „Porcini rubbed Bone-in Ribeye“ was really delicious. The 15yr old Balsamico made it be a great experience. Starters (Steak Tartare, Crab cake & Tuna) were a good selection as well as the Hot Chocolate cake as dessert. Offering mouth water in the Restroom is a nice detail. A really great evening!

Pleasantly Surprised

By Jeff D |

Received a gift card from a local hotel, so figured we would give it a try. As far as chain establishments go, this is one of my favorites! The staff was very friendly and our waiter was awesome! Food was some of the most flavorful that we have had.

Disappointing

By Tom P |

Beautiful, fancy restaurant, with high prices. They wanted over $60 for our usual Chateau St. Michelle Reisling. The bread was tasty and varied. The beet and cheese salad tasted good, but the rib-in rib eye steak was tough although it had good flavor. I was disappointed that the waiter did not appear soon after serving our steak to see if it was cooked properly and offer ground pepper, as most good steak places do.

So disappointing to write this review.

By tcannizzo |

Being in Houston means I can enjoy good food not available where we now live. Seeing that CG has always provided consistently amazing food and service when we lived in Atlanta, I was thrilled to have a good meal since it’s been some time. That’s the end of the thrill. I ordered a Porterhouse done Pittsburgh. I was clear that I like seared out and rare inside. Unfortunate there was hardly any sear on the outside and the inside was cooked medium. So I sent it bk. The second was seared to borderline burnt (and only on one side) so I had to deal w burnt flavoring. And the seasoning used was incredibly salty. The lobster Mac which is usually divine had maybe 3 small pieces of lobster and the rest just cheesy pasta. Unfortunately as soon as I sent the first steak back, service went down too. My waiter never came bk to ck on me until the check was needed. The mgr gave me the redone steak but had no idea I had sent the first bk. I dunno— maybe the Atlanta location is just heads/shoulders above the CG brand. This Houston location could take pointers from them. I’m not normally a fussy diner, but for a $130+ meal for ONE person, I expect service and appropriate preparation.

My New Favorite!

By sdatex |

DH & I enjoyed a quiet meal at this lovely restaurant the week between Christmas and New Year's. It's a favorite of his for business, but we live many miles away in Magnolia and it takes a lot to get me out of the country and into the city. This trip was worth it! We arrived early and were seated in a quiet spot in the back of the restaurant as my husband had requested when making the reservation. Terry waited on us and he was a large part of why the evening was so very enjoyable. His timing & dining suggestions were perfect and he was never intrusive. We started off with the Crab & Lobster Cakes. They were delicious and filled with big chunks of lobster. My husband had raved about the Lobster Bisque, so I tried a cup of that too. It also was absolutely filled with lobster and felt like velvet in your mouth. My entrée was the Sliced Filet Mignon With Cipollini Onions, Wild Mushrooms and Fig Essence. Again so delicious. Hubby had the 14 oz. Dry Aged NY Strip au Poivre with Courvoisier Cream. He loved it and ate every bite of that big steak. And, even though we were both full we had dessert - the Warm Double Chocolate Cake. Who doesn't have room for chocolate and a cup of hot coffee to go with it?! As you can see, Hubby was right and I loved Capital Grille and everything about it - the atmosphere, the waitstaff, the wine, and the absolutely delicious food. I can't wait to return! I wonder if I could talk them into opening one in the NW quadrant of the city so we wouldn't have to drive so far? :)

Tuna to die for.

By Neil M |

The Capital Grill is as good as you would expect. This is a top notch restaurant with an excellent choice of food and wines. Service is very good, never rushed and professional. Is it the best in Houston? No! Is it good value? It sure is pricey so, if you are looking for value, then No....you could eat as well in dozens of top Houston restaurants.

Outstanding Anniversary dinner

By Mspoff |

Our anniversary dinner at Capital Grill was amazing. Our waiter, Yoshio, made us feel special but was not intrusive. Our food was perfectly cooked and presented. I highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions. It can be a bit noisy so ask for a corner table or booth.

Amazing Steakhouse

By Alexander B |

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Houston. The food is great! Beside the steaks the sides like the creamed spinach and the potato gratin are soo good! Would always recommend the capital grille

Still really good steakhouse

By ppettyHtown |

We had not been to the Capital Grill in a few years. Still very good, especially the interesting and delicious steak specialties. The steakhouse bread basket, old school style, with three kinds of bread served with butter lightly dusted with sea salt was a treat. The filet with onions and mushrooms is really good as was the tenderloin with butter poached lobster! The Schramsberg champagne was perfectly chilled as well. The building and rooms are a bit dated but who cares with great food and service!

Great Food, Great Service

By rolandlinda1 |

My daughter and I had a Christmas eve dinner here. The place was packed but the food and service was still excellent. We ordered a salad, steak and side and shared everything. The servings are very good size so we had plenty to share. This place is a bit expensive but well worth it if you are attempting to have a special event or evening. Overall, very please with experience.

Good but be prepared for mas ching

By Michael M |

It was very good and was a beautiful dining atmosphere it reminded me of the old speakeasy's great for DINING the food was very tasty but in my opinion Ive had better for a whole lot less. The waiters were on top of their game but there was only us and two other guys in the entire place at 4:30 in the afternoon. It was within walking distance of the hotel.

Always a pleasure!

By Vlad_Anastassia |

I’ve lost count how many times visited the place and always enjoyed it. Always! We all know how difficult to sustain, but they do. All I can say: thank you very much for the pleasant times with you, The Capital Grille!

Late dinner

By Claiborne G |

Had a late dinner at the Galleria location a week ago. Walked in with no reservation, but was greeted in a friendly manner and ws promptly seated. Had a delicious martini, followed by a wedge salad with bleu cheese and applewood smoked bacon. The top quarter of the iceberg lettuce head was cut off and the dressing and bacon was slathered on top. Great! Followed that with a small filet cooked perfectly-very rare, with a glass of red wine. The waiter was very attentive, but not pushy. Very good service. Overall a great evening and much enjoyed.

Best Steakhouse in Houston

By A-Steel-Guy |

First Class place from beginning to end. Their dried porchinni (sp) mushroom rubbed done in ribeye is the best steak they have. You can get the that rub on any other steak though. It's always perfectly cooked to your temperature with a nice crust on the top and a 15 year balsamic drizzled on top with a bit of olive oil. This will be the best steak you will have ever had.

Amazing Salmon too!

By RichAdvisor |

We had large group here on Valentine's Day no less but still they arranged a great table for us! Having had a big steak the night before I went with the Salmon and it was PERFECT! Very tasty and cooked just right!

Great Food AND Service

By Marc L |

I had a salad and surf and turf; all excellent! My wife had calamari and sea bass. All the food was wonderful as expected. And the service from Susan was amazing!

Classic top shelf steakhouse in Houston

By TheDude1974 |

This is an upper end classic steak house, and has a few famous folks favourite wines under lock and key in the front, including George W’s. Overall a great restaurant, they will make almost anything for you on request, we asked for just berries and unsweetened creme fraiche for dessert and there it was! Wine selection is extensive, lots to choose from, including by the glass. Tables are set far enough apart so that you can have a conversation without being in someone else’s lap. Our waitress (and I can’t remember her name) was absolutely fantastic, just a card to talk to, she bantered with us, made excellent suggestions for meals and was probably the best waitress I’ve had in a long time. By all accounts from my friends, the steaks were excellent and they looked it. They appeared to be on par with a restaurant of this stature. I chose something different, the Alaskan king crab legs, already cracked. Just delicious. If they have it on special, get it, because it was the best crab legs I’ve had. The Mac and cheese is an amazingly good side, a must have recommended by our waitress. Not too noisy, great ambience, a mainstay option to choose from.

Outstanding birthday dinner

By Susan L |

WOW - this was the best dinner I have had in the Houston area probably ever ! We do more upscale restaurants for special occasions- birthdays/anniversaries etc. I chose the capital grille for my birthday dinner and it surpassed my expectations! The food and the attentive service was 5 plus stars . There were sprinkles on the tablecloth for my birthday and they took our pic. We each had a cocktail - shared a Caesar salad - I got the tenderloin w the lobster tails and hubs got the filet oscar - also had to have their signature lobster mac n cheese- the entrees were amazing and the mac n cheese was deliciously decadent . They brought a complimentary birthday creme brûlée w berries - it was perfect . Jason was our server - he was awesome as well as the attentive support wait staff . Jeremiah, one of the managers, stopped by twice to check on us which was truly wonderful customer service. They will have our business for all our special occasions from now on !! Thanks for such a wonderful birthday dinner Capital Grille 😁

Midweek Business Dinner

By Jon H |

Our party of four adults visited for an informal midweek business dinner - we know each other well. Two of our party are not in Houston very often so we thought to go somewhere nice. I have never been to the Westheimer location before but have visited the City Center location many times over the last ten years, mostly for after work meetings in the bar. We enjoyed Bluepoint Oysters on the half shell and Clam Chowders to start and went with Bone-in Ribeye x2; Roasted Chicken Breast (I know - he can't do red meat), and the Filet Mignon Slices for mains. Our sides (for the table) of Roasted Wild Mushrooms and Creamed Spinach were not fully consumed, only because there was just so much food. The food and service were both exceptional - 10 out of 10. The Capital Grille is expensive, but eating Ribeye at this place is a humbling experience for those (like me) who think they "rock" at grilling steaks. With that in mind it is very much worth it for a treat, in my opinion.

Memorable Anniversary Dinner

By Rich D |

My wife and I are both in our 60's, but we just celebrated our 4th anniversary last month. To mark the occasion, we spent the weekend in Houston. To start things off, I made reservations at the Capital Grill on Westheimer. I cannot begin to tell you how special they made us feel. We had a reservation for 7:00 and we arrived right around that time. They immediately took us to a waiting table with a congratulatory note and a lovely rose with petals (see attached pic). Our waiter, Jacob Torres, was very personable and professional. My wife and I had drinks, a great appetizer of boiled shrimp and lump crab meat, split a huge steak with a couple of great sides, and were treated to a very special dessert compliments of the house. It was already a great night when Jacob informed us that my wife's son had called in and paid for the meal. Wow! Words cannot begin to describe how honored and special we felt! We thanked the manager, Steve Joest for making our night so memorable and we made sure to brag about Jacob! Thank you to Steve, Jacob, and the staff at Capital Grille for making this such a special night.

Couples Night Out

We were with two other couples. Excellent service and meal suggestions from our Waitress. All of us commented on how wonderful our individual meals were.

Great Anniversary Dinner!

By texanscot99 |

It's a while since we have been to The Capital Grill however our previous visits have always yielded exceptional food and service so we thought we'd pay it another visit to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by friendly, smiling staff who asked us to wait just a moment while they checked our table was ready. A few moments later we were escorted to a lovely booth facing out into the restaurant. The tablecloth was sprinkled with glittering hearts and was set with a rose for my wife and a handwritten note of congratulations. A special touch and much appreciated by us both. We started with Tuna Tartare which came served on a bed of diced cucumber surrounded by a few dots Sriracha sauce. The fish was fresh, perfectly seasoned and was a truly delicious start to our meal. We shared their 22 oz Ribeye together with sides of Cauliflower Au Gratin and Wild Mushrooms. The ribeye was beautifully tender, perfectly seasoned and seared on the outside and bursting with flavor. Sharing a steak meant that we both had perfectly sized portions and there was no waste. A major shoutout to Jeff, our waiter for the evening. He was friendly, knowledgable of the food and wine and after allowing our main course to digest brought us a complimentary plate of deserts together with two glasses of champagne! Truly over and above our expectations! The Capital Grill, though a chain, never fails to delight in the quality of the food or the exceptional service that they provide. A big thank you to all of the staff, both front of house and back for providing us with a memorable evening with which to celebrate our anniversary.

Great steak!

By Terje B |

Good and prompt service without pushing. Great steak, perfectly prepared, tasty and juicy. Try the one with lobster tails, delicious.

Great for Steak

By Carlos G |

Had dinner, the NY steak was great and well cooked, had the spinach, macaroni, fries, caesar salad for sides, also ordered the onion soup which was more than great.

Wonderful Meal

By CJTravelerTexas |

Our latest encounter with a Capital Grille - this time in Houston, Texas - proved to be another excellent dining experience. My wife had the butternut squash bisque followed by Chilean sea bass and grilled asparagus and I had the French onion soup followed by steak au poivre with potatoes au gratin. Both selections were wonderful, as was the ambiance and the service.

Stunning food

By Celtic_traveller165 |

A colleague and I went to the Capital Grille on a Wednesday just before 7pm. We didn't have a reservation but got a table straight away. As usual in these places, the service was great throughout. I decided to go for a wedge salad followed by a fillet steak. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium and that was exactly how it came - cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour. For dessert, I had the creme brûlée which again was first class. We didn't' have any drinks other than water so I cannot comment on the quality of the wine, although the variety looked pretty good. There are quite a few top end steak restaurants in the area including Mo's and Morton's. This competes rather well and was a little less expensive. If you're in or around the Galleria or Post Oak, give it a try.

Came again and never regret! Emazing place!

By Vlad_Anastassia |

We, 6 of us, came half past 9pm. No problem! Good table, excellent service, super food, very nice wine and super expensive tequila (forgot name of it, but remember price of it:)). The feeling is like you coming to your old friends late, but they are still happy to see you. Thank you all, guys!!

Classy bar

By exskygoddess |

Always enjoy the Capital Grille when visiting Houston. I love the cozy, classic classy bar. Excellent service. The steaks are very good, cooked perfectly. But my most favorite is the Stoli Doli...their signature martini. Yummmmmm.....

Best Steak I've ever had!

By RedHornet72653 |

We went there on a business dinner and were next to last to leave. The food was absolutely GREAT! This was the best Filet I have ever eaten! It was better than one I recall from a restaurant almost 40 years ago. I don't take quality food lightly and this was a great place. The service was good and he could go up or down with the guests needs on service. The waiter was really able to retain the quality appeal the restaurant obviously demands, and still not be to stuffy for us. We had great appetizers, variance in food and the only thing that left me thinking more was the desert. But heck, this was a wonderful experience and they allowed us to fucntion without intrusion. Kudos and I have already suggested this one to friends.

Runs like a top...

By Capt_H00k |

Was there over the Super Bowl weekend with Friends. The place was packed! Even the waiting room had a wait! Luckily we had a reservation so were seated promptly. Every table was full but the team didn't miss a beat. Drinks were kept topped off and the food came out on time and the proper temperature. As always the Steaks are excellent. Great Job by the team - always impressed with the service here.

Wow

By ditlayout |

Absolutely the best Filet Mignon ever ! Excellent service. Loved it. We are a family of parents and two adult children. We all loved it. I would come back anytime again :) They also helped us with sightseeing ideas in both Houston and New Orleans :)

Mediocre for a high $

By Highenuff |

Very nice ambience and decor. An upscale place with courteous wait staff. I expected an high end restaurant would have a wine expert or Master Sommelier on staff. The kale salad was tasteful. I wasn't to impress with the menu very lacking for vegan or vegetarian eaters. The waiter didn't offer any crack pepper for the salad or parmesan cheese for the pasta, the waiters jacket were dirty which was undesirable in such industry. It's in the galleria district so expect high prices. Will probably never visit again. I leff and went elsewhere for a quick bite.

Weekday Dinner...

By Kimberly H |

It was a good dinner.... just can't seem to give it a five star again. The food is tastey but there is something lacking. The service is good as always. Just never leave there with that, "oh my gawd I cant wait to go back mentality."

AMAZING STEAKS and WINE

By RichAdvisor |

Was invited here for a business dinner and the bar drinks were great---the salad was great -- and the steaks and wine were just perfect. Couldn't have asked for a better dinner!

It's nice but for the price....

By Janice N |

This is a typical very high-end steak house that is very nicely appointed with great service, but for the price, it is wished that the food was superb rather than just really good (which it is). I can't fault it for anything but that. Everything is a la carte, and there is no getting around that your tap will be "up there" quickly. Be prepared--if you don't have an expense account! For the "regular person", it is definitely a special occasion experience.

Solo

By catharine k |

So, when dinning alone I sit in the bar. The bartenders are AMAZING and will take care of you! I had the French onion soup which is very savory and oh so amazing! The wedge salad won’t disappoint you either!

Voted #1 in Houston all the time!

By LOUIE H |

The most romantic restaurant in Houston, hands down! You can go anywhere but if you are looking for the cut above then this place is it. Steve Joest in the most top-notch GM you will find in the restaurant arena. If you wanting anything special, do reach out to him directly!!!!! His expertise will surely have you feeling first class. Ask for Jason or Susan if you're looking to be treated like a Queen or King. They both are down-to-earth ,caring, and cultured. This place is excellent both for romantic cozy dinner or for corporate clients. Houston's Capital Grille is the best in the USA.

Quiet dinner at the bar

By Lauren D |

Stopped in late night with a friend to grab a quick bite and a couple drinks at the bar. We had the French 75 and the burger with brussel sprouts. The sprouts were AMAZING. But not as amazing as the service from Paige, our bartender! While it was a short dining experience, the service was impeccable, food was delicious and cocktails were mouth watering! Thank you for a great time!

Love it here!!!

By Chris |

My wife and I come here every time we come Houston. It's our favorite steakhouse here. Great service, wonderful atmosphere, and the food is always divine.

Traditional Excellence

By Julia B |

I absolutely love Capital Grille. The steaks are superb. It has a clubby old steakhouse feel to it and every meal feels like a special event. The service is excellent. The price is a little too expensive to go often, but it's great for special occasions.

Birthday celebration

By Catriona G |

We had dinner here last night for my birthday and the experience was superb. Susan was our server and she went above and beyond even taking our photo and putting it on a card for us to bring home as a memory! The shrimp were delicious and very meaty, the steak was excellent ( managed the 10 oz even though I thought I couldn’t!) A free dessert of creme brûlée with a candle was a delight and a thoughtful touch, Thankyou

Treated like royalty

By Glori C |

We had such a lovely time at the Capital Grille! I ordered clam chowder and a salmon dish. The salmon was sushi grade, moist, and delicately seasoned. The clam chowder was fabulous too. When our waiter, Roberto, found out it was my birthday, he comped us a wonderful flourless chocolate cake. Roberto couldn’t have been more attentive; the chef Daniel P. visited our table twice, and the manager Gabriela visited our table, too. My meal was just $20. We are not wealthy and don’t dress that way. We are retired without important positions and know no one who has one. But the people at the Capital Grille made us feel as if we were truly special. It wasn’t just lunch at the Capital Grille; it was a dining experience.

Capital Grille Never Disappoints

By Jfled |

Excellent, Romantic Dinner for my Wife's Birthday. I looked at plenty of other options for this birthday celebration, but ended up going back to the old stand-by, The Capital Grille. I have taken numerous visitors as well and everyone always raves. The Delmonico Rib Eye is fantastic (Porcini Rubbed with 15-year aged balsamic) is out of this world. The lobster mac-n-cheese is a must. Excellent service and ambiance. And they added a special touch for the birthday.

Top Notch

By local |

One of the best steak houses you will find. Consistent quality of perfectly cooked aged steaks. Fine dining romantic atmosphere. Perfect to impress a date. Definitely one of my favorites.

Steak house?

By AUSAGUY007 |

This place use to be good but their are so many competitors in the area that this place dose not even really stand out.. It taste more like a chain steak house than a boutique steak place. There desserts are ok but not the best.... For the money would rather go to papa steakhouse it's about the same price

Party of 14 please !! lol

By DJR |

Saturday night August 19 wow ! Place was packed and quite warm. We had reservations for at least 3-4 weeks in advance and we were there on time, actually early. We waited 45 minutes and were treated to sparkling wine in the lobby and 2 large seafood platters as an apology from the manager. Hard workers these servers are. 1 server for 14 people ? I felt bad but hopefully everyone left a nice tip for him as there was a few separate checks. Overall it was 9 out of 10 experience which for as busy as it was they did an excellent job ! You can count on Capital Grill being consistent all around the country in service, quality and smiles.

Good service, but okay food

By mouni99 |

We went there for my birthday and New Year's eve. At check-in, the waitress was busy talking on the phone, but the wait wasn't too long. We were surprised that they didn't have a New year's eve menu. I ordered the tenderloin with lobster tail and my friend order the bone in ribeye. I have to say, the portion of the food was fairly small. I have never seen the lobster tail being this small and the taste was average. However, the size of the ribeye was decent and the taste was okay. Our waiter offered pretty good customer service and that's the only plus for the restaurant. The atmosphere was okay, nothing too special than any other restaurant. I don't think we will go back there.

Great evening

We had a dinner party for 6 here and the service was top notch as was the food. Enjoyed my well marbled steak, and everyone else was commenting favorably. Recommended even though it’s part of chain, the individual attention and unique setting made up for this.

Good steak

By Hein O |

Steaks are well made and of good quality meat. Sides come in very large portions. Service was good and fast. Wine list is on an iPad and ratings from wine critics are provided, nice feature for the Robert Parker adapts amongst us. Thought the food was a little expensive but the wine was fair priced.

An Amazing Anniversary. We were treated like royalty

The service was impeccable. Our waiter was Carl. He was excellent. He knew the menu forward and backwards. He gave us great suggestions and made our dining experience the best. They prepare our table with rose petals and hearts. Nice touch. They wedge salad is the best we have ever had. No competition. My filet mignon was so tender it could be cut with a fork. It was flavorful and juicy. The best steak I have had at Capital Grille. My wife had Tenderloin and lobster tails. She loved them both. The lobster Mac and cheese is out of this world good. You cannot go to Capital Grille and pass it up. Excellent!! Cheese cake is great. They camelize the top like a Creme brûlée. Excellent touch, and super tasty. We had an unforgettable night. We will definitely go back, and highly recommend Capital Grille.

Excellence throughout

This location of Capital Grille is everything you expect from this caliber of restaurant. The decor is on point and the restaurant is very clean. Every staff member we met was polite, helpful and very efficient. Suzy was beyond excellent as she added extra cheer to the evening. We had veal and ribeye (of course!) along w potatoes, Brussels sprouts and a bottle of wine. All of the food was cooked to perfection and arrived at the table hot. We skipped dessert because we were absolutely stuffed after the main entrees. Pricey, but on par w other Houston steakhouses. A worthwhile stop.

Great food and service

I have been wanting to visit this restaurant over the years if travel in several different cities where they are located and finally got to visit the one on Westheimer in Houston. The service, apps and dinner were outstanding. Had the steak tartare, wedge salad and seared tuna. great food and the service was outstanding.

Pricey... but worth it

I've eaten a cow or two. Found this place on Trip Advisor and it was only an 800 meter walk. I knew it was a high end, but I felt like a good steak. I wasn't wrong. And you get what you pay for: Nice ambiance. Quiet. Comfortable seating. Miguel the waiter was excellent - attentive but not hovering. Since I didn't order an appetizer he brought me a little bite-sized shrimp/mango something that was really tasty. Service was as fast as could be given the cooking to order. Water kept full. Great place for a quiet business meeting or romantic encounter. Had the bone-in rib eye, mushrooms, and a glass of a nice Malbec. One of the best steak meals I've enjoyed! Steak cooked perfectly - and somehow stayed that way as I ate... didn't seem to keep cooking. Enough mushrooms to sink a ship. And the wine perfectly temped (even though it was one of the least expensive). Total bill before tip was $80. I could have spent a little less.... I also could have spent lots more with an appetizer, second side, and more(or more expensive) wine. But worth it!

EXCELLENT SERVICE AT BAR AND DINING ROOM

By John G |

As always Jessica greeted you at the bar while waiting for my friend to arrive and fresh chips and ice tea and when Paul arrived for his first time to CG he was impressed with service and NY Strip and I had a Rib Eye and onion soup . Paul also ordered more chips and with the ketchup and bread almost filled us up. The service was impeccable and I apologize as Server name I have had her wait on me but I forget her name. I am texting Jessica now to get her name and it was susan so make sure you ask for jessica in the bar and susan in the dining room!!!

Great Meal

The food and service were great. We both had seafood and it was excellent. The prices are in-line with other Houston restaurants of this caliber. The only negative was that we happen to be there on a very business Friday evening and were seated next to the bar. The noise from the bar was a bit much from time to time.

Very Relaxing Night

My wife and I had reservations at 830 on a Saturday night. We had a comfortable booth for two at the back of the restaurant where we stayed for two hours. Jason waited on us, we were not rushed to leave making good drinks and great food very enjoyable. We will be back!

Delicious and the atmosphere 👍🏼👍🏼

Love the atmosphere in this place! Quiet and romantic, ambient lighting and wonderful service. Don’t miss the Stoli Doli martini (go take a look at it in the bar). Food is delicious! There are other locations but this one is the best.

Pricy but delicious!

Definitely recommend this upscale restaurant. Great service and the food is wonderful. I ordered the lollipop lamb chops and they were some of the best I've had. My mojito was terrific!

Impeccable service matched with an incredible menu!

By William H |

From the valet to the table, the service is top-flight; the wine selections are top notch and anything on the menu is prepared to perfection. Whether for a special occasion for just a nice dinner, the atmosphere has an old world flare that is immediately relaxing and only adds to the aviance. Definitely, I will be coming back soon and often. Thank you for a great evening!

Good meat and desserts

You get a choice of meat and seafood under the same roof. While the food is tasty and high quality, the interior design trumps it.

Personalized, quality engagement

It is a combination of things which make this an excellent choice for dinner. Easy to find, complimentary valet parking and very engaged staff. Secondly, they take reservations. Let them know if you're celebrating something special. If you wish to, for a price I imagine, you can have a cubby hole to store your favorite wines with your name. It looked very impressive. It was our anniversary, we had a lovely booth, our table was sprinkled with rose petals accompanied by a lovely single rose. e had wine and desert on the house. The meals are Texas servings so select carefully. My wife was very impressed and I received very high marks. The manager stopped by to say hello and our host was gracious, knowledgeable and so very courteous.
