Fun experience at an Irish pub!

By Inspire696861 |

My husband and I have been to The Cottage 4 times We love the ambiance of the beautiful bar, the choice of 52 beers and the quiet of the back sunroom. We have met family for lunch, friends for dinner and will return again this weekend. Whether we have a cheeseburger, salmon salad or fish and chips, we are most pleased with the food. The only thing that could be better is a little faster service. We are going back again this week-end!

Awesome find, atmosphere and food were great!!

We went at happy hour after two recommendations and will go back!! Great atmosphere, good prices and delicious food and cocktails! We got the Irish fries with curry sauce which were amazing, the potato skins, good and Moscow mules which were fabulous. Only spent about $30 for 2 apps, 2 mules and 2 beers. Great place and we will go back!!

Great food and service.

Shoe leather for corned beef

The menu for both the Reuben and corned beef/cabbage meal is advertised to be made with “tender home-cooked corned beef”. Not the case. Both meals had the toughest and driest pieces of meat. Most of the slices you could not cut it nor chew it.

Traditional Irish fare

Stopped in around 4:30pm for dinner on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was not too busy. There was live music in the back of the main area and it was happy hour. We were told to sit anywhere and went to the back room where we easily found a table and asked for a high chair/booster for the baby. Water and menus were brought for us and we put in orders for beer (50%) and appetizers (select ones were also 50%). We looked over the menu which is not extensive but has a variety of Irish specialties and were ready to order when the drinks arrived. We chose the Rueben sandwich, chicken pot pie, fish & chips and fish tacos. Our appetizers came out and looked very good. We had ordered the chips and curry and spinach artichoke dip. The chips - hand cut potato fries were thick and tender and the curry was sweet and tangy. Both were very good but the chips & curry was absolutely my favorite. The spinach artichoke dip was very cheesy and we had plenty of tortilla chips to dip. As the restaurant was filling up after 5 we had not yet received our food and asked the server because we had actually called before arriving at 4:30 and asked about wait time… it was Father’s Day and with happy hour we wonders if it would be slow. We were told there was no wait and food was coming out quickly. Not the case, but since we had been some of the earliest people there we imagined our food would come out first. After an hour waiting - thank goodness we had ordered and received the appetizers, the baby was fussing and we again asked about our food. Other tables who had come in well after us were receiving theirs, eating and leaving so it appeared our order had been misplaced. The server then brought out three of our four meals, no fish and chips. And the food was only warm - appeared to have been sitting awhile. It was another 10 minutes before the last meal of fish & chips arrived (now nearly 6pm). We speculated another server had grabbed the fish & chips for another table and we were left hanging as they made another order and the other food sat under warmers and only when we asked did they bring us what was ready. The food all tasted delicious and other than being only warm we had no complaints about the food quality. The pot pie was like a chicken, cream & vegetable stew with chunks of carrot, potato and chicken topped with a flaky pastry. I love pot pie and really enjoyed it. The fish tacos were flaky and loaded with cabbage. The Rueben was delicious and instead of fries (chips) we had asked for the soup… potato leek was good. The fish & chips were flaky and hot when they arrived - straight from the fryer. As we paid the tab to leave we asked about the unexpected and unreasonable delay and were told it was Father’s Day and so busy, but because we were there before the rush this was not a believable excuse. We asked for future (because of the baby and planning) how long orders typically take to be filled and were told 10-15 minutes. Happy hour runs 3-6 and there is live music some evenings (I believe Friday-Sunday) and the 50% beer, drinks and appetizers are a great deal. The menu is homemade Irish fare and the atmosphere goes with the Irish theme. Food tasted fantastic and would give the place another chance if we lived here.

Try the stew

Cool and rainy day today. Stopped in and tried the Irish beef stew. My server was friendly and quick. Atmosphere is cozy. And the stew was delicious. I’ll definitely be back and explore the menu here.
