Andrew the bar tender here was absolutely great with great food and drink recommendations. I had the great fried chicken which was excellent. So refreshing that a restaurant has exclusively local wine and beer! You should definitely stop here at the airport for great meal and service

But didn't. Gravy was tepid and lumpy. Biscuits okay. Service was marvelous. Main restaurant in Montivilla so much better

Breakfast in a restaurant is something we enjoy regularly. We arrived early for our flight and had planned on getting a quick bite somewhere. This was really outstanding and the service was fast. I had the breakfast sandwich with a side of potatoes and my husband had their omelette, which included cheese and potatoes. Every item was delicious, fresh tasting and got our long day off to a great start.

There's no way airport food should be this good. There is serious talent in the kitchen here, and all of food screams fresh, quality ingredients. My breakfast beef hash was amazing, and my wife's grilled ham & cheese sandwich was great and came with a cup of superb smoky tomato soup. The service was super fast and friendly, too. If you're anywhere in the airport, do yourself a big favor and stroll over to Concourse D.

Ate at the airport location while waiting for a flight. Was surprised at how fast the service was. The 3 egg omlet with white cheddar, roasted potatoes and bacon along with the Bloody Mary were amazing! Highly recommended!

We ate lunch at the Country Cat before our long flight. The scrambled eggs were so oily we literally could not eat them. The home fries were not good either. The service was slow. The biscuits and jam were ok. It was not the meal we wanted to eat before a four hour flight.

We stop here every time we fly. We have never had a bad meal. Their breakfasts are healthy (for the most part) and well prepared. On our most recent trip we were in a rush but had to find time to eat something. The waitress took our order immediately and the food came without a long delay. We split an excellent kale salad and a turkey club. They were kind enough to split the salad onto two plates for us. Good quality ingredients and a reasonable price.

We had a nice lunch and beers at country cat at the PDX airport. Views of the TVs in the bar for football playoffs. The club sandwich was enormous!! Good service and convient location.

While PDX is famous for its local eateries in the airport, many of them close in the evening (because duh, they're local, not a chain.) So when I was catching a red-eye out of the airport to the east coast I had limited options in both the food court and Concourse D, but Country Cat offered up comfort food that satisfied. I had the grilled cheese and tomato bisque and both were excellent and substantial.

My husband and I had an early morning flight home, so we ate here before boarding the plane. The food was very good, and the portions are generous. My pancakes were enormous. This restaurant was definitely a pleasant surprise at the airport.

Was really impressed with their grab & go ginger pound cake on last year's vist...plus, a star in PDX rest. world said it was a great place (he meant the restaurant in PDX). This review is of the airport rest. which I'm told has little to no affiliation with the PDX restaurant!!?? My smoked turkey sandwich with onion jam was great to eat on the plane...my hubby's egg scramble was (to quote him) unmemorable. P.S. they didn't have the pound cake this time ; (

This place was horrendous. All started with customer service. The waiter was about as unprofessional as it gets. The jokes he was cutting and attempts at humor were not welcomed. He offended a lady bad enough that she got up and walked out and he was laughing and made a snide comment. Food was average. Wife’s salad can out with “smoked salmon”. Looked like stuff right out of the can from Costco. It was cold. Doesn’t advertise that on the menu. Won’t be coming here again for my flight out meal unless some real changes are made.

You can get Sumptown coffee here, hot and fresh. Plus, you can buy whole bean bags for cheaper than you can in their downtown location.

Am I really at the AIRPORT?! Sweet Lord! This is the best hash I have ever had!! So many glorious flavors! Just amazing!! I don't want to get on my plane! I want to stay here and try their whole menu!! Just fantastic! Service was great also - friendly and fast!!

Tale this for what it's worth but this is the one the best meals I have had at an Airport. Yes it is still expensive compared to what you can get outside of an Airport or Sports Arena but they do have fresher ingredients. We had a great server (Amber K) who answered all of our questions politely even when we repeated some of them (dietary and allergy concerns). We had sandwiches (Grilled Cheese & Turkey Club) and Tomato Soup. It was good and what we needed to start off our Journey. We would eat here again the next time we travel through here.

We shared an eggs benedict made with an English muffin instead of their normal southern biscuit. We ordered the southern biscuit on the side with butter and jam.

So you arrive at PDX after a morning flight & looking for a good breakfast place. Well then go to the Country Cat. About 10 minute ride from the airport. Located in so/so area of town. You know its the place by the picture of a tiled cat by the door. You know the food's good by the crowd at 10:00 AM on a weekday. The menu is pretty sophisticated with dishes like red corn beef hash/sourdough French toast. Service was good/attentive. reasonable prices.

A perfect start to a very long day of travel. This restaurant offers table service and prices that are very moderate considering the ‘norm’ for airports. A wide variety of menu selections pleased the grandkids. Fast service.

The Country Cat, at PDX, Portland International Airport, is a wonderful little spot to grab a bite to eat and your favorite coffee or other beverage before boarding your flight. I had the Broccoli and goat cheese quiche. The crust was light, buttery and flaky. It was a tasty and delightful breakfast. I chose to accompany it with Columbia Gorge organic orange juice, also excellent. The service was friendly and fast.

Ever since both the husband and wife owners of this restaurant won on Chopped I've been anxious to go. But the Portland Parking is a turnoff. Lo and behold they have a mini restaurant at the airport. Had breakfast they did not disappoint, had a mysterious yummy parfait with crunchy coconut fresh pineapple and a yogurt concoction and a breakfast sandwich. Prices airport high but worth it. Delightful staff....Yum, Yum......

We had the biscuits, eggs Benedict and bloody Mary's. All were excellent and our server was super friendly. I would highly recommend this place.

Ok weird start but the home made fresh pork rinds were amazing. Be sure to get the meat and cheese plate. I wanted to lick the cheese dish clean! Hubs came especially for the Whole Hog meal and was not disappointed. I had a salad with friend chicken. Yummy. And the wine selection was great. Great service. Fun atmosphere. 👍🏼

Stopped over in Portland while traveling and wanted to grab breakfast. We ran across a winner when walking into the Country Cat! It is a farm to table restaurant with fresh local ingredients used and we found what we ordered to be excellent! The server was on top of things even when the restaurant was pretty busy with the early morning breakfast crowd. Coffee was kept filled and hot, a water carafe in the table was kept filled. We ordered the egg sandwich and the eggs Benedict. The sandwich came with choice of green salad or fresh fruit. Bacon, egg, cheese and greens on a bacon biscuit with fresh fruit (berries)... delicious! The eggs Benedict came with choice of salmon, ham or veggies. I had the salmon Benedict, with spinach, fresh watercress, sunny side eggs, hollandaise over a flaky biscuit. It was amazing! The serving was perfect! The price was so reasonable for airport food! Definitely a place to seek out when traveling through Portland!

Decent breakfast place with fast service and good food. I had sausage and eggs with a biscuit. All came out right. There were potatoes also, cubed pieces. Service was friendly, food came out quick. Love when that happens. A pleasant enough server. Worth checking out, note, there are other places along the way to Terminal E. I thought that this was my only choice. Still it was passable for a sit down place for a quick meal.

Typically, I rank airport food with most attraction food. In most airports, the food is mediocre, at best, and overpriced. Portland International (PDX) seems to have a higher level of dining options. The concourse had delicious food smells around every corner. Country Cat has excellent food! We ate at Country Cat before our flight to Helsinki. I love shrimp and grits. It's a dish that's always tasty but seems to have a limitless amount of permutations. Our service was a bit slow at the beginning. The server was very nice and apologetic about the wait to get our orders taken. I wouldn't go to Country Cat if you are in a hurry to catch a flight. We had a three hour layover so it wasn't a big deal. I can't wait to go back to PDX to order their fried chicken! My husband flies frequently for work. He prefers PDX to SeaTac. SeaTac is a much bigger airport than PDX. The energy at SeaTac is frenetic. Portland International's tone is very chill. PDX even has a row of comfy chairs to relax in and watch the planes, while waiting for your flight. SeaTac (to my knowledge) has only one good restaurant. That is Beecher's. The others I've dined at in SeaTac are mediocre at best. That's very ironic because once you get out of SeaTac airport, the quality level of food in the Puget Sound area is quite high.

It's not often (ever?) that I look forward to airport food, but this place is an exception to that otherwise iron-clad rule. Be sure to get the tomato soup -- smoky and delicious -- and if you can spare the calories, pair it with a grilled cheese sandwich that you can customize. My waitress recommended bacon and avocado, I went with bacon alone. Fantastic! Full bar with lovely wines.

PDX offers a good variety of restaurants, bars and shops. The best place is the Country Cat Restaurant. Waiting for our flight, we were lucky to have time for lunch at the end of our Oregon vacation. We chose to have “ Proud Mary “ (their special Bloody Mary), and “Maple Leaf “ cocktails, then double cheese burger and the turkey club. Everything was delicious, to die for. On top of the great food, we had the best service ever. Sarah W. is simply an outstanding server. She gave us great recommendations, she made us laughed and due to her, we had an unforgettable time. THANK YOU! Highly recommended !

Great breakfast, descent service. Fast service and good coffee. I am a little disappointed with the lack of interaction with the waitress (did not talk to me) but overall, I would recommend.

I had been looking forward to eating at the Country Cat and since I would be in Portland airport, here was my chance. I emailed a few days before and called asking for a menu - or if it was the same menu as other location and was told similar - no menu was ever sent. I had lunch there today - ordered the cast iron chicken, potatoes and greens - the signature dish. The chicken was over cooked and dry, the mashed potatoes were luke warm at best - however, the greens were awesome - I wish I had just ordered a side dish of the greens. Nice restaurant. Nice serve staff. Food was disappointing and I really wanted to love this place. Please see the pics as I included a menu in case it’s helpful.

I have no idea why a Southern inspired restaurant is in Portland airport but I am glad they are. Let's start with Andrew, from the moment you walk in, you are back home. He is energetic, friendly and knowledgeable. His favorite wine is your favorite wine. I would come back just for Andrew but then add in the really creative menu. I had fried pork skins with a dip to die for. Plus fried chicken paired with a great Red Zin, which was Andrew's favorite. Great place, love it!!

I gleefully dragged my wife in to their airport location having heard such great things about the restaurant's Montiavilla HQ. W e were somewhat disappoined - my wife had the Country Cat egg and I had an Egg Sandwich (but $12.50?). Just okay. Should have gone elsewhere was our decision -- not many choices for breakfast, high prices.

Country Cat is the same restaurant as the one on SE Stark here in Portland. Good food and the price is not bad considering your in the airport. I had the omelette with white cheddar and bacon. The bacon was large chunks of meat rather than tiny bits. Breakfast was wonderful. Coffee was local Portland Stumptown. If you have never had Stumptown you must try it. Portion size was just right. Not too much, but plenty to be comfortable. The restaurant is fairly large too, so plenty of room. Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Very nice since it was 6:40am. It is right inside the ‘D’ & ‘E’ gates security. If you’re flying out of PDX I recommend eating here.

I know it’s an airport joint. I know it must be a miserable place to work. But a smile and passable service isn’t too much to ask, is it? After we were seated we sat several minutes waiting to be greeted and to get some coffee. A table of folks that came in after we did received menus and beverages before we were acknowledged. If there is one thing that makes my chili hot it’s that. There are limited options after security at PDX (terminal D). Country Cat could use some competitors to make them hustle a little. The food (breakfast) was quite good, once we were finally able to order and be served.

Being from Portland, the original Country Cat is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I travel frequently, so when they opened a cafe in PDX, I was very excited. It seems that they took them a couple of months to find their footing, but now I can say with confidence that you won't find a better restaurant in any airport. The menu is somewhat different than the original, but their mainstays of fried chicken, burgers, wings, and great wine and beer selection are in tact. Plus the rotating seasonal menu items are spot on. If you're in the PDX airport, you have to go here! Don't tell my boss, but I often come early before my trips just to eat here before departing.

If you get a chance try the cheese omelette it is incredible. The service is good for a airport restaurant but the food is exceptional.

Just came from SFO to PDX around brunch time. They had a good choice of foods from breakfast food to dinner. I had a turkey sandwich and my companion had some chicken. The food tasted fresh and the portions were generous.

I was concerned about the reviews posted, especially regarding the service. I found it fine - it's an airport spot, so I didn't expect a two hour meal at lunch. The waitress served water within 2 minutes, and I had my drink (Flight Delay) within 5. Ordered grilled cheese and roasted tomato soup. Soup was great, sandwich pretty good (I would like liked a cheese with a bit more punch). For $10 I had no complaint. Way better quality than anything at Oakland airport, my destination.

Love the shrimp and grits. Extremely tasteful and satisfying meal. Awesome Great service. Surprised to find this jewel at the airport. Love it

At 5:30 a.m., I am barely expecting a restaurant to be moving any faster than I am, much less put a smile on my face. Country Cat at PDX did so. The waitress was very efficient and personable, and the food was good. We joked about having a beer, and with slight encouragement wound up sharing one (among the four of us) called Sweet as Pacific Ale, which tasted a bit like a mimosa, and was very good.

I've eaten at Country Cat's excellent downtown location but the airport site is not in that category. Avoid it if there's a crowd and you have a limited time to departure. The staff were friendly and the coffee came immediately, but a couple of fried eggs took 20 minutes and were overcooked. So there was nothing about this basic breakfast to recommend it given this restaurant's reputation.

Airport food tends to be low quality and high price. This place is just the opposite. I had reasonably priced pancakes and home made sausage for breakfast with real maple syrup and apple compote. It was great. Coffee was good too. Waitress very attentive and friendly, also. It was so good that I went to their take-out department to get a sandwich for my flight. It was well made and stuffed with meat. Much better than airplane food. Cheaper, too. I consider this place a great find.

I have stopped here many times for a pre-flight drink and some food. The bar is the most extensive that I've found in the airport with the widest variety of hard liquor, and bartenders that know how to make drinks. Andrew has helped me most times I've come here, and has always made perfectly balanced cocktails. I ordered the cobb salad, and was not disappointed. The large lardon pieces complemented the chicken, egg, and fresh avocado nicely. On my most recent trip, I had breakfast there with my family. My daughter's pancakes were light and fluffy, with crisp ends. I had the biscuits and gravy (B&G) which was a pleasant mix of fresh greens on a perfectly baked biscuit with a nice light gravy on top. One member of our party is vegetarian, and they had a number of options to satisfy her needs. I've been here many times before, and will continue to come here for my pre-flight meals and drinks.

We went to the airport to see the new, beautiful remodel. It was GORGEOUS ! When I looked at the map beforehand, it looked like The CountryCat was still on the other side of security. We were happy to see it was now in the middle of the airport, so we stopped for lunch . Our drinks were great .The food was fair . The bartender that made our drinks seamed friendly enough . When she took our order for our food , she asked if we wanted anything for our fries . My husband wanted Thousand Island and she didn’t list that as a choice, he asked again and she VERY snarkily repeated herself . When she walked away , I told him he better not tip like normal , which he replied No problem. We normally over tip . After we finished and paid our bill , she asked if we were planning any trips , we said yes to France in the spring. She got on a tangent about the political scene about nothing will be fixed until there’s a Civil War ! Really ? You are a server in an industry, that this is not a subject to talk about with customers ! I told her we would not be going to Europe if Trump wins , and her reply was that both candidates suck , to which I replied I like Kamala way better than Trump . Her response was , “ Sure , , but she got where she is by sleeping her way to the top “ I asked her to repeat what she said , and she repeated it again . Are you FIng kidding me !? If my drink wasn’t finished I would have thrown it in her face . This server is a NUT JOB ! She also bad mouthed the new restaurant the previous owners of Country Cat , now own . This woman ruined an otherwise lovely day . Please go back to Deep Battle Ground and stay !

Airport food is not known for its culinary delights. My husband and I had ample time so we opted for the full service “Country Cat” on D concourse. We chose this because it is local Portland and gets good reviews. Our experience was mediocre. We ordered Chicken fried steak and Fried Chicken ( the house speciality ). The meat portions were ample and hot! The mashed potatoes and collard greens were less than room temperature . Cold collards are not good. Service was spotty and rushed although the restaurant was not full. I think we could have eaten much better at one of the local food carts in the airport . A disappointment considering most reviews.

Hubby and I had the eggs Benedict and banana bread French toast. Both dishes were great. Portions are generous and the service was excellent.

Found the food good but very bland, ordered chicken and biscuits and the biscuits were to be cheddar biscuits, unable to taste any cheddar at all and since the main dish is more soup than meal the biscuits were served in the soup, they are soggy, I would suggest they ask the customer if they want the biscuits on the side. Prices are a bit high, probably due to airport location.

"Homemade" muffin with jam (& standard eggs and bacon) & water is $12 and is very good at 5 am in the morning. Same price level as NYC but the quality is great.

This place is way better than an airport restaurant, yet here it is an airport restaurant. It reflects the spirit of Portland. So friendly, open, comfortable. The pancakes with apple compote will surprise you. It is delicious. Comfort food before a long flight.

Waiting for a flight, we wanted breakfast but most places looked like piled processed crap being served at a high price. We decided to try the Country Cat in Concourse D and it was terrific. They also serve a wonderful Proud Mary with great vegetable and beef jerky garnish. Very good prices too.

Do not every ear here worst service I have ever received. I have money like every one else. Waited 8 minutes and didnt get any help. No tip for that women. Burgerville is way better.

This restaurant was the coolest looking restaurant in the terminal and the menu looked cool also. My Brisket plate was amazing, and my daughter loved her grilled cheese sandwich with Tomato soup (it appeared to have been a made with Texas Toast, the bread was so big.) My wife’s first attempt at a meal, however, was a disappointment. She ordered the Chicken and Biscuits. Note the first ingredient in the title: chicken. What was delivered to the table was what looked like a very “brothy” vegetable soup, with three small biscuits and tiny shards of chicken, less than 1/4 ounce. When we asked “Where’s the chicken?” The waitress replied, “We ran out of roasted chicken, we can take some off the price for you...” My wife ordered fried chicken instead and was pleased

From the ridiculous Bloody Mary, excellent Fried Chicken, greens-to-die-for, friendly staff, full bar and wide-screens, this is the only restaurant to consider at PDX!

As I fly into PDX a great deal I wanted a break from the usual fast food options for lunch. I decided to give the Country Cat Restaurant & Bar a try. Ordered the Country Fried Chicken w/mashed potatoes and gravy and substituted a salad for the collard greens. As others have mentioned the Fried chicken were two medium-sized breasts. One of the breasts was way overcooked -dark brown- asked to send it back The gravy on the mashed potatoes was borderline rancid. the place is a comfortable alternative to the fast food options on the other terminals. the wait staff was nice and attentive. The manager had his life covering the entire back bar area which was pretty distracting. Probably a better choice for a pre/post flight drink than a meal.

I had enough time for breakfast and I was starving. I ordered and proceeded to wait and after 20 minutes asked what happened with the order. After 30 I finally left. She claimed she put the order in twice, yeah right. So now with no time before my flight leaves I'm hungry. Bunch of jokers.

Great food will adjust anything on the menu to use Udi's gf bread and buns. Well done it is so hard as a family traveling and finding gf options. Thank you, thank you, thank you country cat! You're the cat's pajamas! Simply purrrfect!

Wow, what a great find! Super fresh and tasty farm to table food in this restaurant in the airport! Thrilled with the delicious smoked turkey club on fresh baked wheat bread. The chicken salad with capers was outstanding. The dish of fresh berries was beautiful! The staff was friendly and hilarious, the restaurant was super clean, and food was fantastic. We will stop here every time we are in this airport for sure!

We enjoy our breakfast every time we are here. We love their coffee. They also have a to-go kiosk if you don't have time to sit down. Very good food and one of our favorites in the airport.

We were impressed by the great food and good service early morning this week as we headed out for a 8 am flight. The wait staff was very attentive and we loved the 3 egg omelette! So fluffy and the bacon was lardons with tasty fresh thyme herbs. They bake their own English muffins! Highly recommend!

Had the Shrimp and Grits. A little soupier than the LA-GA-SoCAR version, but very tasty. The grits were laced with a very creamy cheese, and were quite tender and delicious, with shrimp, bits of bacon and other items in a light, etouffee-style sauce that was nicely seasoned. Overall, a good effort, very warming on a cold, rainy day, and the waitstaff, one Jerri P., was all over it, doing a good job. For airport food, you could do a LOT worse than The Country Cat at PDX.

Was heading out on an early flight to Vancouver BC and had just enough time for breakfast. It was 9a, but I’m an East Coast girl, so it was really 12n. I had a cocktail. Really creative cocktail combos and a full bar makes this spot ideal. We chose one of the breakfast sandwiches. A warm, soft, homemade biscuit spilt open and packed with bacon, cheese, and an over-easy egg. It came with a nice little mixed green salad with just the right splash of vinaigrette. One bite of the biscuit sandwich and the egg yolk began to ooze. Definitely delicious. Lots of different items on the menu to choose from, but this one just spoke to me. Ate every bite before flying off into the friendly skies.

The goodies at The Country Cat are INEDIBLE and EXPENSIVE. Old and stale and obviously were not very good when they were fresh. The new airport is a beautiful building but the concessions this side of Security are terrible. In the old airport, they were first rate and not too expensive. What a pity we can't have something good to eat as well as good to look at.

Decently priced and good portions, flavour was ok but not so special. Staff is friendly and the Benedict eggs we had were spot on.

Definitely not the quality of the Montavilla location. Grits very lumpy. Shaved ham Benedict had good flavor but biscuit hard. Server very nice.

Country Cat at PDX The downtown location of Country Cat was on the Food Network show, Dinner, Drive In’s and Dives. While this is not the same, the quality of the food is very good. What is amazing is the speed of the service. My wife ordered Shrimp and Grits, and I had the chicken fired steak. Within twenty minutes we had our food. They were somewhat busy around 4:15 in the afternoon. If you want some fine food and have quick service this is the place to go while you are at the Portland airport.

This restaurant is located just inside security in D/E check. Southern food and regionally salty. Service is fairly efficient. Accommodations could use charging ports and possible table paying kiosks to tend to the high turnover. I'll try it again to see if the atmosphere improves.

I won't mark them down to 3 stars because I think this was an anomaly and the servers were having a bad day. I sat for a full ten minutes before a server came by with a menu. When the food came there was no attentiveness or offers of ketchup or hot sauce. The omelet, when it arrived was lukewarm. The good news is that it tasted great and was pretty much the perfect size for a pre flight meal. I will try it again. The location is great, just let down by mediocre service.

Waitstaff was unprofessional and make comments they should have been smart enough to keep to themselves or insure customers are not around to hear. Bar staff didn't seem to be in a hurry and we needed to remind them of our drink order. That said. Now the good: food was tasty. However, at noon they were out of their signature fried chicken. Try a grilled cheese with bacon for a nice treat. I would like to try their other location abs give then another chance.

Mother Nature won this time. After some serious rain outs of our activities we decided to stop fighting. We headed to the airport early and sat down for a few drinks before our overnight flight.. the wife had heard of this place, they have a location in the city, so in we went. Friendly bar staff and excellent food. Probably the best airport food I have ever had actually. Shrimp and grits was the real deal. Can't say enough about how good it was beginning to end. Wife had the fried chicken which was also very good. Craft cocktails were also very good. A definite must try if you are in PDX

What a surprise - good breakfast at an airport! I was on one of the first flights out that morning, starving, so dropped in here while I waiting to board. Simple food: omelet, biscuit, coffee. I wish I could get this kind of breakfast every morning when I travel. Nothing overcooked, nothing fake: all natural ingredients, honey, real butter. It was a good start to a long day.

This is really pretty good for being an airport restaurant. It's a self-seating place but once you're seated, your order off the menu. The menu is pretty small but everything on it was mostly good. I got the Brisket, which came with a purple slaw and white bread. The brisket was nice and tender, although the au jus that it came with it, was a bit too sour for me. I didn't care for the slaw either I added the fries to that, which was a humongous portion, and I can't believe I managed to wolf the whole thing down. The server was really friendly and made the meal that much more enjoyable. And yes, I put the draft beer next to the glasses to give you an idea of the size. They brought me the wrong me the wrong size (the bill confirmed that, but it was only $2 more). Now, that I couldn't finish!

This place is just not good. Service is uncaring, food is nondescript and cold by the time it’s served. It’s in an airport - but in pdx there are far better choices.

Stopped here with a group of friend before we separated ways to different gates. We were going to go to a different restaurant but because we had a hiccup with security, we stopped here as it was close to all gates. We were greeted right away and our order was offered to be taken right away. The entire table ordered the cheese burger. No one was disappointed. The burgers came out quickly, nice and hot. The fries were fresh and not from frozen potatoes. The only thing I did not like was the homemade ketchup. I had thankfully asked for this to be off my burger. It was tangy. The rest of the table seemed to like it - but all admitted it was different. If you are someone like me who does not really like ketchup to began with, make sure and ask for a side. it is good to try, but it is definitely different than the average ketchup. Overall, great service and great food. I would love to go back and try the fried chicken.

I wanted to avoid airplane food and had enough time to wander around the concourse to find what I wanted. The m nun at the Country Cat looked good to me. I settled on their French toast. Good decision on my part. I'd gladly eat here again. Quick device, good food, fairly priced for an airport, all that I could ask for.

I travel through PDX often and this had been a place I liked to go. However after sitting for 10 min, with wait staff ignoring me despite trying to get their attention, I left. Not great for an airport restaurant. Fortunately, there are others.

I'm soooo happy we have this option at PDX, in a town with so much great food. I rarely make it to their SE location, so having it available at the airport is that much better. The service (Geri) is great!!!

Stopped in at the Portland airport location while delayed and had the most moist and delicious skillet chicken I’ve ever had. Top that with bacon mashed potatoes and how can you go wrong? Had a nice quiet table in the corner overlooking the runway, so it all helped us kill some time. Service was great too. They also had Breakside on tap for my husband which was just the icing on the cake. Would highly recommend.

Arrived at the airport with a few hours before our flight and decided to stop in here for a bite to eat and some drinks. The food was actually quite good. I had a gourmet grilled cheese with bacon on a sourdough bread with a side smoky tomato soup. One of my colleagues had the shrimp and grits and the other had the salmon, quinoa and greens. All 3 dishes were presented very well and tasted wonderful. The price was also very reasonable. We also found a table in the back by the windows which was a little quieter and offered a good view. Highly recommend this as a good stop if you're hungry before your flight and want some decent food!

We went here to meet with an old friend from college and although we had to wait a bit it was worth the wait. The waitress was super nice and helpful in choosing what to get. The bathrooms are clean and outside of the restaurant. The place was clean, a bit loud when busy and they have good coffe. #planforamiracle #drsoul

Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced, they were extremely rude. Food took way too long if you dine -in, when if you took it to-go you’d be out in a minute. Staff does not care and it clearly shows.

This is hands down one of the best in airport restaurants anywhere in terms of food quality. I was skeptical despite celebrity chef Cat Cora’s backing. But I was wrong as this spot offers farm to table gourmet offerings.

We needed to kill a couple hours before our flight back home and found this little restaurant inside security at the Portland Airport. Our server Sara was very friendly and took the time to guide us through the menu, making suggestions and even offering to have our entree cut in half. Meals are large here with more than enough food to share one dish. We selected the iron skillet country fried chicken with mashed potatoes and braised collard greens, which were some of the best I've ever had. Location is perfect to view planes as they traverse the runway and our gate was D1 which was directly outside the window in front of us. Prices were very reasonable and some of the best airport food I have had while traveling.

We specifically went to this restaurant because it was written up as a country place with great pan fried chicken. We were seated promptly and were given a warm carafe of water. Is ice now something you need to ask for? We got a glass full of ice. Service was prompt, I think it was the manager since he seemed very busy - maybe short handed. I was hoping the fried chicken breast and thighs would have the bone in. Nope, just 2 puny dark crusted dry chicken. I asked the waiter which was the breast since they both were about 2" long. He said he would give me another one. Again it was the same size and undecernable. The collard greens took up most of the plate and was OK. My friend ordered chicken wings. We asked if we could have a mixed order - 1/2 sweet/spicy and 1/2 buffalo wings. The answer was no. We were told they were the whole wing, they were not. I would not recommend the restaurant but they had a togo area which I wish I saw earlier. Those items looked much better.

Sat myself at one if the closely spaced bar tables. Server took my order of eggs Benedict with spinach , smoked salmon and biscuit. Also had a side order of grapes and strawberries - no raspberries as originally told vi server. Drank local green tea. Delicious breakfast all in all!

Ashley is a great, attentive, and engaging bartender. She was warm, welcoming, and made her patrons feel like they were her friends. I appreciated being treated like a regular.

Tried this based on the recommendations of friends. Food was good, but portions not nearly big enough for my hungry teenage boys. A little disappointed.

Had breakfast here in March. Food was typical airport food. Chicken sandwich was $16 and their Country Cat breakfast was $15. Food was fine, but when we got our bill, we had been charged $4 for 2 glasses of water. Really? Service average.

My favorite spot in Portland. Was able to visit post flight and pre flight. Great food, deep bourbon selection. Bryan is a great host. Look forward to visiting on my next trip.

I am a frequent flyer and a frequent diner at this restaurant. The food here is simply delicious and it does not get any fresher then this restaurant. The items take a bit longer to cook and is to be expected when you get quality farm fresh items. Take a look the picture of my sandwich and I’m not going to say much more, then Delicious!

Sorry, there is just no other way to say it. I have tried this place for breakfast twice and it has served food that was so bad I just refused to eat it. So much vinegar on a salad you just could not gag it down. Chicken so over-cooked it was bone dry. There are better options down the concourse.

Like most restaurants aiport, the place is full quickly. The food was ok not much. People smilly and nice. Just a place for a quick food before boarding

The $14 hamburger was overcooked and had no tomatoes, pickels, or onions. It comes only with aioli, cheese, and fast-food style shredded iceberg lettuce. Looking for a juicy, flavorful pub burger? -- go elsewhere. I'm a frequent traveler and this was the worst food I've ever eaten at PDX.

Easily accessible, right after security, lots of seating and interesting views of the runway. They had a disappointing tap selection, but the fried chicken and friendly staff made up for it!

What a great find after a long flight. The food was fabulous, all farm to table. The grilled cheese sandwich came with a cup of tomato soup, not your typical Campbell's. A bit of spicy smoke flavor and that perfect for dunking the grilled cheese. Husband ordered the brisket sandwich and it came with slaw. Just the right amount of tang to it. The best part was the old fashion I ordered, beautiful presentation and very tasty. We will travel through PDX just to have a meal here.

we stopped here before our flight. They have a good beer selection. We have the 22 oz mug of local beer. the food was very good too. Very wide variety. fried chicken ordered at the table was very good. The vegetables were great, Mashed potato with gravy was fantastic while the collard greens was good too. Good service, quite fast. Highly recommended for a place inside the airport.

The grilled cheese was phenomenal. Our server was great, never letting our glass be empty. Highly recommended.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner with a southern flair. I don't usually expect a lot at an airport, however, the food was delicious, the service friendly and the restaurant clean and welcoming!

Food was only so so. Actually, the turkey and trimmings were pretty dry and definitely overpriced. Drinks and service were good, however. It was raining like mad outside. We had a nice window seat but the old single paned window was leaking onto our table.

Went here for breakfast as it is coveniently located between security and the gates at Portland airport. Full marks to them for the speed of service: Eggs Benedict were served in just over a minute. However they were heavily over-salted, the ?bread on the base was soggy and the addition of a badly wilted green salad could have been left off. The coffee came in a filthy cup. Not a place I will return to.

This is one of the few places I truly miss about Portland. We fell in love with it from the first visit shortly after they opened and never once after many many visit were we disappointed with anything other then having to wait for a table. Dinner or Brunch you can't go wrong. The whole hog, the grilled cheese, the Monte cristo, and the fried chicken are all a must try.

Drinks good prices, food medium prices small portions for the cost....portions are filling just over priced. Grain bowl is awful they said fresh veggies....well I think they were at some point before setting on a steam table till off colored soggy and left a pool of yuk in the bottom on a “grain” bowl which made it soup

I admit it. I'm a procrastinator when it comes to getting to the airport. Every time I have a flight, I give myself an ulcer because I get on the plane JUST as it's minutes from having the doors shut, I'm panicked, and I SWEAR that I'll get to the airport early the next time. *record scratch as we cut to me snoozing the morning of another flight* Anyway. SOMEtimes I get to the airport early, or an airline has come to their senses, seen me on the passenger manifest, and then fakes a mechanical/weather issue, thus buying me an hour delay. Wheee! I'm so early! If you're early at PDX, stop in here. This place makes it worth getting to the airport early, because who doesn't love a hot breakfast?! Or a mimosa? Did I mention the hot breakfast? The biscut/gravy combo is delish, as are the pancakes. Why eat the airplane food? Eat early and then act superior while everyone else is scarfing depressingly at their gruel, thinking you're in control, when instead you're full of eggs over easy. So very Machiavellian (assuming Niccolo flew coach).

This is a great fun restaurant if you like fried chicken or pork, but if I have time I always go for their great bloody mary before my morning vacations flights. I agree that this is one of the best restaurants at PDX if you like southern meat inspired food.

We were looking for a good dinner and we are so glad to have found the Country Cat Restaurant! I had the kale and spinach salad with salmon and it was the best I've had in awhile! Cooked to perfection as I ordered it. Service was awesome! We would highly recommend a stop here! Very clean and comfortable!

For a variety of breakfast selections & prompt service the Country Cat will meet your needs before boarding your flight. Having had breakfast twice at this charming restaurant, I would encourage morning travelers to embark upon this local airport eatery!

This is a great place to stop for coffee and a bite before heading out on a plane... strong coffee!! Good service.. the food is a tad over flavorful for myself but love going here every time I fly out.. The sausage patties are super fresh and pounded out that day.. just very strong flavor so not your standard patty taste

Went to County cat after watching a show on Travel channel with Andrew Zimmerman futurist their famous Croque Monsieur sandwich. Got there after driving cross town just to be told that’s not on their regular menu it’s kind of special occasions as it’s very time consuming. So that was that. Guess I’ll keep going to Papa Hyden for a Croque Monsieur. Other than that it’s a nice neighborhood diner with a full bar , good friendly service , clean , had a very good fried chicken sandwich. One of the best French fried ever.

Lackadaisical service with no efficiency itor urgency in of all places an airport. Food is lackadaisical as well. Nothing special. This is a home grown Portland restaurant attempting to give the airport a little local flavor. For starters overpriced and underwhelming food and ridiculously pokey service. Skip it and head down the concourse to Burgerville if you want better food and need the local flair.

Had some time to kill at PDX and the family was hungry. Did not expect much but was very surprised. Service was friendly and the food was outstanding. The turkey club was a highlight and my daughter loved her pancakes. If you need some food while waiting for you plane, this is the place to go!

This was Your typical sort of airport restaurant. They had a good selection for breakfast. So we stopped in and enjoyed our breakfast before our flight to Detroit. Does what it says on the tin

If you sit down to eat at PDX, this is where to do it! It's just past security though. Had an amazing burger and fries, high quality, fast friendly service when I just had 30 minutes before boarding.

I was there in December and then back in February. Both times I had their grilled cheese and tomato soup. The soup has a nice smokey flavor, but the grilled cheese is what I really come back for. I don't know what kind of big porous bread they use but it's perfect. The same could be said about the cheese. It's so hard to find a good grilled cheese and these guys have it. Also, they move pretty quickly because they know you have a flight to catch. Guess what I'm going to eat next time I'm leaving Portland?

Had a late breakfast/early lunch here with my husband prior to taking a flight to Tennessee...we had eaten at their other location in Southeast Portland so we knew we were in for good food. My husband had their French toast and I opted for the turkey club. Both were very good. We also had two large flaggons of beer to accompany our meals. Staff were very helpful and friendly. We never felt rushed or unimportant in this very busy airport location. The price point was on target for the location. If you are flying out of PDX or have a layover (does anyone ever layover in Portland), go to the Country Cat in the D concourse right by TSA!

Left without eating, this is why: The restaurant appeared to be about half full, and it was a standard dinner hour. We were sat at 5:48pm and when the server / (manager?) approached us at 6:08pm (20 minutes with no service) we asked about gluten free options. He audibly groaned, and in an exasperated manner said the kale salad is gluten free, and that if we asked for a gluten free bun, the burger would be as well. He said "that's it". That was a lie, unless they had a bag of flour in the kitchen that they dumped on top of half of the other dishes on the menu while plating them. I asked if the iceberg wedge was gluten free as well. He rolled his eyes and said, "Yea, I guess that is, too." At this point, my wife said something like "maybe we should go somewhere else..." And the man cut her off and said "yes, maybe you should" aggressively while reaching down and grabbing the menus off of our table. We were shocked, their board out front advertised their many gluten free options. Needless to say, we did leave, as we no longer had menus. We ended up eating at the Rogue Brewery in the same concourse, where the server, in an extremely polite manner, explained the gluten free options even as the restaurant around us was twice as busy as the Country Cat had been. My wife said she had never been treated so poorly in a restaurant, and I have to agree. This was aggressive behavior to the point of near abuse. I want to be clear that we never used rude language or tone / contributed to the escalating stressed environment. The server / (manager?) also never apologized for the delay in addressing us as customers, if that needs to be pointed out. I hope we caught him on his last day or something, explaining his incredibly aggressive tone and language. Might as well throw this in, we were seated in the normal dining room, and I was treated to overhearing the sexually explicit joking of the chefs in the open kitchen loud and clear while we waited for service. I hope the owners read this and follow up, unless the goal of the business is to worsen people's travel experience to a dramatic degree.

In addition to being one of the sole sit down enjoy your self places in this side of PDX, it happens to be FAnTASTIc!!! Hand crafted cocktails (drink the Fairweather Friend - a super health tonic detox health juice you want when flying PLUS vodka cuz you also what THAT lets be real) And farm -fresh tasting eats like a tuna Caesar and Shrimp and grits packed with flavor and cooked with real ingredients. Not easy to find a great healthy but rewarding airport joint with a view of the runway and great personal service. Bummed this isn't my home airport as I would return!!

Stopped in here at 6:30am for breakfast before our flight. We sat at the bar and shared an order of French Toast with candied pecans and maple syrup and a side of bacon. The French Toast was exquisite, thick slices of light and fluffy bread, thickly battered and fried with golden brown crisp edges, the topping was a mixture of sour cream and powdered sugar wich tasted more like cake frosting but not quite so sweet, and the syrup was "Grade A" real maple syrup. The bacon was thick cut and crispy with a smokey flavor. What a delightful surprise at an airport restaurant. The bartender was very friendly and helpful, she steered us to the French Toast. Thank you!

As soon as you get through TSA this reastraunt is on the other side. We had a really great meal with great service . There is a bar here if you need a drink to help sleep on the plane.

We stopped in for a quick bite before our flight. Service was slow but polite. Forgot our drinks until the food came but then took them off the bill. My salad wasn’t prepared as ordered and for the high price it wasn’t worth it. Just average food.

I ended up getting to the airport earlier than planned. I was looking for a place to eat but saw mostly fast food or unhealthy bar food. I liked the menu here and the fact they serve breakfast longer. The food was delicious and the bacon cooked perfectly.

This relatively small restaurant is a fun place to visit and grab a bite to eat. I had the Seasonal Vegetable Hash with 2 poached eggs on top. I added some bacon which increased its flavor. It was a good healthy meal for $13.

Great restaurant at PDX serving comfort food before your flight. Service is always good and the food is freshly made. Good choices for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Recently had a great dinner before transatlantic flight.

This was hands-down the worst service I've ever experienced. After sitting down and waiting for 20 minutes before being approached by someone, we ordered our drinks and I inquired about gluten-free options. The board outside the restaurant specific advertised "many gluten free options." When I asked for guidance on the gluten-free options, our server rolled his eyes, audibly sighed and threw up his hands. He said the kale salad would be the only possible gluten free option. Then he added the burger could probably also be gluten-free with a gluten free bun. The he said, "that's it" and rolled his eyes. When my husband asked about the wedge salad, the guy rolled his eyes (definite theme developing here) and sighed again and answered, "fine, that too." Given that I have a severe allergy and this is an important issue for me, I replied, "never mind then. Maybe we should go somewhere else." The server sneered, "yes, you should" and ripped the menus from the table and stormed off. We were appalled. To be clear, we were polite and forgiving of the initial delay - both my husband and I have worked in the service industry, so we definitely get it. The horrific customer service here was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Don't advertise that you have gluten free options if you aren't going to train your staff on gluten free. Oh, and that server should be fired. His attitude was offensive and rude. This was by far the worst experience I've had. It really put a damper on our otherwise wonderful, fun and (GF) food-filled trip to Oregon. Clearly, the Portland PDX airport is not the food-aware, customer-service oriented place Portland is. If you're celiac or gluten intolerant, eat before you get to the airport.

we had to get up early, too early for breakfast, to get to PDX for our early morning flight. this establishment was open, bustling, (not tooo busy). we had (interestingly?) salads with our breakfasts. too bad the server(s) didn't stop by more frequently to replenish coffee cups.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast before departing. Scored a window table with a great view. Service was friendly, quick and on top of things! The eggs Benedict with smoked salmon were very good and well prepared. Will I dine here again? Yes.

I love that PDX is the BEST airport to visit. The Country Cat is one of my new favorites. They have items that can be GF/DF. I enjoyed the turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich and had them substitute their gluten free bun for the bread. It was delicious. Just ask them to toast the bun or it will fall apart and it doesn't taste quite as good. Or, pass on the bun and have it wrapped in lettuce. Great farm to table.

Never thought I'd review an airport restaurant but this is a surprisingly good place to eat. Caught breakfast with pleasant and alert staff available, making the visit more enjoyable, And then the food was good and the prices competitive with what we saw in Portland.

Like others, I had time to kill before my flight to SLC, Utah and the Country Cat had been recommended to my by a colleague friend of mine. She said the breakfast for an airport was really good. I found the help to be friendly, the coffee and juice was perfect and the eggs benedict yummy! There is plenty of room to store your carryon's and enjoy the experience, even if it is an airport!!

The Country Cat shows that it is possible to have a successful local restaurant with fresh local ingredients in the airport. A simple breakfast of eggs and a biscuit was flavorful and satisfying. Too bad so many airports opt for the fast and mundane. Wish I could come back and depart later n the day to try their other offerings. Service was also friendly and attentive.

You can't go wrong at the Country Cat. We went for a late breakfast and the place was jumping. We had to wait for a table, but it was worth the wait as the food was delicious.

Arrived early for a flight home to Denver and decided to stop in the terminal for breakfast at The Country Cat. We both had the 2 eggs any style (chose over easy), country potatoes, chose bacon and wheat toast. All arrived quickly, nicely presented and well prepared. The potatoes were especially delicious- crunchy on outside and nicely seasoned. The service, too, was top notch. Great choice.

So this restaurant is two separate things: a grab and go, and a bar/sit down. The way it is laid out looks like you order from the register, and then can sit down to eat. My family and I had been dealing with a cancelled flight for almost 5 hours, and when we went to sit down, we got yelled at because the tables are only for people ordering from the servers. We had gotten food from the register, that again is the same restaurant, and tipped at the register. We ended up sitting down and ordering the rest of our food, and when we apologized to the server for the confusion, he said “well yeah there’s the bar” as if that made their layout make anymore sense. After waiting in customer service lines for 5+ hours, getting yelled at honestly broke me.

I travel and eat at airports often, but I've never experienced a fresh meal like the one I had at Country Cat. The ingredients were local farm fresh and cooked perfectly. Homemade whole wheat bread and homemade Marion Berry jam. It doesn't get any better than that! The service was also excellent.

Decided to have breakfast before my long flight. So I decided to try the Country Cat at the airport. I took my table at the very same time as a solo Male customer. He had coffee and his hot meal in about 5 minutes. I waited for a server and ordered after his food was on his table. I flagged down 3 different servers to get someone to wait on me. Finally they delivered my brown scorched eggs. These went back and again I waited. Meanwhile the man next to me was asked at least three times if his meal was ok and did he need more coffee. He was paying his bill when my food finally came. It was ok. Food Ok. Service, well I hope it wasn’t gender driven

Friends wanted to stop here before our flight. Slow service! French toast...while it looked fabulous it tasted burnt. Favorite part was EXCELLENT juice...both orange and grapefruit were fabulous! Slow service for an airport restaurant.

I had a great meal at the country cat at PDX. Food is down home cooking and fried chicken with mash potatoes with gravy was perfect. They have a good selection of cocktails (ginger bombshell is delicious), beers, and wine. Service was exceptional for Friday night at the airport. I would go again.

My wife and I were traveling on Christmas Day and had a long layover at Portland Airport so searched out the restaurant with the best reviews for our Christmas Day dinner. We settled on the Country Cat cafe with their signature dish being “pan fried chicken” with mashed potatoes, gravy and collard greens. We found the restaurant and sat down with anticipation. It is not easy to find pan fried chicken these days, and especially not in an airport. The dinner was a huge disappointment. The chicken was deep fried (apparently in a cast iron pan). It was over cooked and dry. It appeared to have been microwaved, and it came out so quickly it probably was. The potatoes were cold. Very cold. The collard greens were good....and plentiful. But at $17 per meal we were hoping for more than good collard greens. Our meals were terrible. But our server was very friendly and good. Without the good service, this would be a one star review. Next time we are at the Portland airport, we will try one of the different restaurants that look better.

We had an enjoyable dinner at the Country Cat in Portland so when looking for a breakfast place at the airport, this place was the obvious choice. The choice of breakfast is large (lots of eggs option), coffee is good and the service is very friendly.

Yummy lunch and great bar service from Caleb!! Fast service and excellent food. I was very glad I chose to eat lunch here.

We had brunch there on our way out of town. The provided good, sitdown service. The quality of their food was impressive. I had their take on Eggs Benedict they used house cured ham, and scratch made biscuits, hollandaise and fresh spinach. Great meal!

Finally made it here, have been waiting to try for a long time. Worth the wait. Our server was pleasant and helpful. The chicken was done perfectly. Got there well before 5pm on a Friday, were able to be seated. The place filled up quickly. Reservations would probably be a good plan, especially on a weekend. Looking forward to going back.
Obligatory stop at the PDX airport.
Ever since the Country Cat opened up in the airport, I actually look forward to traveling, and getting to the airport an hour early so I can sit, relax and wait for my flight at their bar. Great drinks, delicious food, good service... what more could you possibly want from an airport experience? Always puts me in a good mood just before flying. Get anything with their amazing homemade biscuits, or also the fried chicken is to die for.
