Underwhelming

By Baggiecat |

As a family of “BBQ aficionados”, I’ll just say that this was very underwhelming as far as BBQ goes-we’ve had better, and I have made better at home. The portions were great, but nothing had real flavor, and I noticed that the brisket did not have the smoke ring distinctive to smoking meat. The sauce was also more of a Carolina type sauce, which is not what I have had at other Texas places. The best part was the bread, which was very good, and being able to eat outside along the Riverwalk. It’s not terrible, but there are most certainly better BBQ places in San Antonio and Texas!

Slipped in Quality

By Relampago Blanco |

This once great bbq restaurant has slipped greatly since it opened years ago. We ate at the Riverwalk location and left disappointed. Brisket was leathery and the sausage was not quality meat. Sides were ok. Save your money and go down the road to Pinkerton’s BBQ. You will not be sorry

Worth a Visit!

By marfak |

This was very good Texas BBQ. Smoky and flavorful. Although they give you a small margarita glass, they also give you a shaker full of margaritas. Highly recommended.

Pretty Darn Good

By JeffB32 |

So this was our first meal in SA after a flight from Detroit. My wife got a little crazy ordering the bread appetizer (ok but the butter really made it), the Jalapeño Cheese poppers (small and not very much kick) and half slab of ribs. The ribs were very grisly and the meat was pretty dry. I had the brisket sandwich and it was outstanding. The cold Lone Star beer also hit the spot. Service was just ok (I could have used another beer).

Good ambience, food and service....

By Paul H |

The County Line we went to on the North West side of San Antonio is not listed on Tripadvisor and so I'll write my review on this site. The ambience, the friendly service and the pretty good food warranted the five stars rating.... The food we had was not special at all; baked potato with goodies inside and turkey breast with beans, fried okra and mac & cheese.... But everything was just right....

Nice place by the river, very good dishes,

By Giulio L |

We ordered a dish that was to share with different cuts of pork, beef, chicken, chorizo, really very good as we could taste everything. The service was very good, we asked you to suggest some local beer and a hit! The brownie for dessert, very good too

Pretty good!

By Ken D |

My wife and I ate lunch here. Our server was wonderful and very nice. We split the chicken fried chicken (delicious with the gravy) and the two meat (smoked chicken and brisket) combo (added pork ribs). Our sides were garlic mashed potatoes (eh), coke slaw (chunky and good), French fries (good), beans (pass on those). The food was very good except for the beans (might have been a cultural thing, but not for me).

Good BBQ but pricey ....

By 891travelling891 |

We went in for beef ribs but this particular County Line does not have it. Pricey but servings were huge. Ask for items you like eg burgers, chopped beef sandwich which were not on the menu. Our server was good and very accommodating to our needs.

Not a fan - had much better BBQ

By CodyDC |

Not a fan - had much better BBQ at other BBQ places. Wasn't a fan of the cole slaw in how it was chopped in large bits instead of stringy like typical cole slaw. The serving size was good, the turkey was large enough to come out of the bun, but really no taste as the bbq sauce was just average.

Relaxing by The River Walk

By 230cabm |

Nothing like a good Texan Barbecue. Good food and good margaritas. Just chill and relax by the River.

BBQ for Dinner

By Linda Sue B |

Good food, good service! Allowed 89 year old mother to order from kids menu. Shared 1/4 chicken and sausage with hubby. Charro beans were good, coleslaw not so much.

serving was rude, no alcohol,

By alamo |

serving was rude, no alcohol, rude food was ok. place is very nice but would not go again, there's a lot of better restaurants really close, also had to wait to get in

Good meats

By thumper1 |

My husband ordered a sausage plate and I got pork ribs. He loved his meal. My pork ribs were very good, but the coleslaw was not very good. Service was fine

Pleasant

By garizza |

Typical Texan restaurant along the splendid Riverwalk of wonderful San Antonio. Typical Texan dishes from barbecue to Tex-Mex. Nice place. Friendly staff.

Okay food, not responsive to problems

By fly2muchDAL |

We have eaten here a number of times. The serving sizes are more than generous. Food quality is okay, not great. The homemade bread is great. It comes with a nice honey butter. This last time, we were seated not too close to a large group that was extremely loud. That would have been one thing, but he foul language was not. We asked the server to say something, but apparently that is not their policy, so he asked the manager. Nothing changed. It ruined a nice dinner with my wife. The other patrons at other tables also were visibly annoyed by this as well. I asked to speak with the manager and it didn't seem like they really cared. No offer to comp a drink or anything. Just a policy that doesn't allow servers to talk to other tables. Don't think we'll be back. Other place to get barbecue. Don't need to hear loud f-bombs while trying to have a nice dinner. By the way, it was not late at night but about 4 in the afternoon.

Excellent t service, great food

By jabc5 |

I had excellent service, the hostess and especially the server were very friendly and attentive. I ordered the turkey platter and it was excellent t. It’s probably the best turkey I had ever had at a bbq restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place for those looking for a good, reasonably priced bbq place.

Fast service amazing food and staff.

By teamsnardy |

The turkey was the best I’ve ever had. The vegetable special for that night was collard greens cooked perfectly. Our server Kevin was great and gave us helpful tips about the river being drained. The service was crazy prompt. Food came out fast cooked to perfection. An overall amazing place.

Very good BBQ joint

By Jan575 |

We stopped in for dinner during the week. The food was good, the prices were reasonable and the service was great! Will definitely go again!

Great place to dine!

By Terry H |

Had dinner here one night last week. Great service and Great food! The brisket was amazing! So was the cole slaw!

Awesome bar-b-Q right in the river!

By Omalley1118 |

Stumbled in this place when we couldn’t get into another. Their loss…the scent alone was enough to draw us in. The food was amazing paired with excellent service. I had the combo platter-chicken and lean brisket with Mac n cheese and beans. Not a fan of the latter, but the rest was amazing. Cornbread would have made the meal perfect. And then there was the bread pudding! To. Die. For. Do yourself a favor and don’t skip dessert. Life is short, and you only get one.

Good Barbecue

By Lauri M |

We went here tonight with out of state friends who wanted Texas barbecue. We were able to get seated inside quickly (it was too hot to sit outside). The homemade bread with the honey butter was pretty good. I had a very yummy house margarita and a two meat platter with turkey and chicken and sides of beans and black eyed peas. The turkey was really good, but the chicken was a tad dry. The beans and black eyed peas were decent, the barbecue sauce was really quite good. My husband had the sausage platter. The sausage was excellent. Our friends had steak and ribs which they both enjoyed.

Amazing!

By Jessica C |

Amazing!! My husband and I ate at several restaurants on the river walk, and this was a standout. We upgraded for their homemade bread, which was delicious, and each had a two-meat combo meal. The meat, the sides, their sauces - everything was so so good. The service was great, waitress was very kind and they turned on the heater when they saw I was cold. And can't beat the view! We sat right along the river and it was perfect.

Ate Here 2 Times in 5 Days

By ZR900MAN |

Had ribs, chicken wings, garden salads. Very good food. Nice seating directly on the river. Service was very good. Had an Old Fashioned drink which was so very tiny for $10. Maybe it wasn't an Old Fashioned? The whiskey was spectacular though!

Order the sampler platter for 2 to share!

By Shelly4Shore |

We ordered the platter for 2 and it was so much food! The turkey was wonderfully seasoned and moist, the chicken was deliciously smoked, the sausage had a great flavor, the ribs had a good chew, and the brisket, while it had a beautiful smoke ring, was a little dry. The bbq sauce had great zing so that helped with the brisket. Our sides of green beans and Cole slaw were delicious. Our service was excellent, even though the restaurant was crowded. We never felt rushed and had time to enjoy an after dinner cocktail. We would definitely come back!

Average BBQ large quantity

By Mountainman827 |

Average BBQ large quantity and great location. We shared both types of their brisket, ribs, and sausage. Included 2 sides and great tasting bread. More food than we needed so sharing is a good idea. Sad to say bbq was average have had better in several places. Good service and very pleasant sitting by the river walk. I

Outstanding Texas BBQ

By DDay1959 |

One of our business associates invited our group to dinner at this amazing Texas BBQ place on the San Antonio Riverwalk. The BBQ was absolutely fantastic. I had the peppered turkey with coleslaw and beans. Everything was delicious. We also had a slab of ribs for the table and a loaf of their famous fresh baked bread.

Average BBQ

By Karin |

We went to The County Line BBQ on the recommendation of friends who had gone twice in one trip. It was my pre race meal before the Rock n Roll San Antonio marathon and they didn't have a wait unless you wanted to sit by the river. The menu said the homemade bread was worth the $$$ so we ordered half. This was the only amazing thing about the meal! My brother ordered brisket meal with 2 sides and for the money...he got very little. It wasnt very flavorful and dry. I had the half smoked chicken, salad and potato. The chicken skin had some seasoning but not like it had been smoked and the meat was dry. Our server was great and very attentive. But it was disappointing for Texas BBQ to be dry and flavorless. If you go, just get the bread!

Good food seating a little to cozy

By Jill V |

Had dinner on a Monday night and was able to sit on the river. The tables were a little bit tight, to the point you can barely get around without knocking against another table. We ordered the half loaf of their famous bread, it was delicious and half a loaf was more then enough (we could not finish it). For dinner we shared the 5 meat dinner for 2, which was samples of all the meats, lots of food it comes with 2 sides (we had the salad there are other sides to chose from). They were out of green beans for our second side, so we were given the choice to have something fried (all the other sides) or pay extra for something else. The food was good and filling the service a little slow and the tables are uncomfortably close together.

Average

By Patti |

We just had an appetizer and drinks. Sat inside, seemed a little unclean. Food was average. Drinks were good. Fun atmosphere.

Good location Ok food

By Ashleigh M |

The location on the river walk is the only reason this place is still in business. The food was fine but our server was very pushy. We ordered brisket and it didn’t even have the crust on it. I’m pretty sure the mac and cheese came out of a tray. Our server told us about a fast food place nearby that has great barbecue. Texas is known for barbecue but you won’t find it here.

Delish!

By LillyBee |

Delicious Ribs and huge chicken wings. The deep fried cheese balls are a must. We loved our server and the food did not disappoint especially after walking around all day.

Ok BBQ

By robfromnmusa |

On past trips here we have enjoyed the BBQ @ the Countyline. So we don't want to be too harsh.....especially with all the Corona issues...the babyback ribs were greasey, the sauce was nearly flavorless, potato salad like cardboard....clearly their standards have dropped......staff was friendly & excellent... spent $48.00 bucks on nothing special....the sausage was ok....it will be awhile before we return......sorry guys....

An expensive disappointment

By Hans |

Beer is served in bottles (you don't get a glass!). Meat is cold and very(!) 'well done'. Salad is not fresh. NEVER AGAIN!

Two Different Experiences

By Mark G |

We got 2 perfect seats right on the Riverwalk and proceeded to have 2 different experiences. My lean brisket was OK, but I have had much better and was surprised by it. My side of mac & cheese was a little watery and the Cole slaw terrible with huge chucks instead of shredded and not much taste. My wife on the other hand had a fantastic peppered turkey platter with very good potato salad and baked beans in a tremendous sauce. The tale of 2 meals, one a 2.5 and the other a 4.5. Also $5.75 for a Lone Star bottle? Then again you are on the Riverwalk.

Skip this place

By Beth C |

This is a great location. That is all it has going for it. The ribs were very dry - basically inedible. Mac and cheese was Stoufers quality. The bread they rave about was very thick slices of basic white bread with honey butter served in plastic tubs. Every item was just a food-service (like US Foods) item from the barbecue sandwich to the potato salad and other sides. It’s expensive and not worth it at all. It’s basic cafeteria food. We enjoyed sitting by the river and that is its only good point that you can do at many other restaurants along the Riverwalk. Skip this place.

Eat Here - Eat Frozen

By Relampago Blanco |

Went with the family to eat at the Riverwalk location. The service was decent. The food was served cold to lukewarm and did not have an authentic cooled on site taste. Instead tasted just like getting frozen bbq from a grocery store. Service good - bbq not for price - sides cold You decide

Waited for service

By T S |

Well we were tired, hungry, w a 3 year old and saw good ratings on this place since it was by the riverwalk. We got there and only 2 tables had customers on them. We waited for 15 min and saw the waiter go to the table next to us on several occasions and going out of their way to tend to them. We never got asked for our drink/food order! The waiter definitely saw us and exuded to ignore us. So we walked out…needless to say we are never coming back sorry not sorry

OK BBQ

By yorosey |

Went for lunch as I wanted some brisket. The BBQ was OK. When I have BBQ in Texas I expect better than what they serve but it was OK and to be expected with where it is located (Riverwalk)

BBQ at its best

By Dave B |

Awesome food and staff. Very busy, but so accommodating. My wanna-be cook teenager loved it. Will always go back.

Great BBQ!!!

By Ronna H |

Great BBQ with plenty of portions! Extensive drink menu and full bar. Nice food selection. Great for gluten free or keto options

Good food

By Mike K |

Food was pretty good. Brisket, chicken, peppered turkey, ribs and sausage. The mac n cheese and the beans were both great sides. My only complaint is that we had to grab another server to go find our server just to get drinks. Once that was all straightened out, we had a good experience.

BBQ it up on the RiverWalk!

By gemini h |

This place was great! The 5 meat BBQ sampler was ace! The pepper-crusted turkey was very good, brisket fall-apart delicious and the BBQ sauce with an orange flavor was amazing! Plentiful and quick drink service, and a nice shady spot makes this an amazing RiverWalk choice!

Very different barbecue.

By Nancy M |

Got seated immediately, waiter was informative and good. Portions were large but we didn't consider the food bbq'd.

Perfect TX BBQ

By FLGIRL |

Went for lunch. We have found wherever we go for BBQ, always go for lunch. The meat seems to be the freshest. They have a small lunch menu at a good price for the amount of food you receive. The bread they serve with honey butter spread is like having dessert. The sweet tea is super with lemons. The lunch platter comes with 2 sides, we had fries, potato salad, coleslaw (both had coleslaw). All were just fine except the coleslaw had chunks of the core cabbage that I thought should have been removed before serving. The ribs, turkey and brisket all had excellent flavor. Found the brisket a minor bit dry but still flavorful. Service was off the charts. Shakia R. Took excellent care of us, professional yet personable. Would definitely go back!!!

Definitely coming back!

By patrick k |

Robert did a great job. I have never met someone who knew the menu more! A special experience and DELICIOUS food. His recommendations were awesome. Best fried pickles I’ve ever had. Come see Robert at The County Line. Robert is top two and he ain’t two!

Decent restaurant, not anything special

By caylinsgranny2014 |

Decent restaurant, not anything to get excited about. Not a lot open when we visited and who doesn’t like bbq. It was good, the service was good and we enjoyed the atmosphere and company of our friends. We all had bbq of some sort, I liked the ribs and brisket. They do a lot of business being on the Riverwalk and it’s not a place to go for the great food. Average, filling, home food.

While it took ok a few minutes

By SMGleb |

While it took ok a few minutes to get the waitresses attention, the food was excellent. The lean brisket meal was so good. The texture of the meat was perfect. Tender but still a slice ( versus some BBQ we’ve had lately where it fell apart. The coke slaw was perhaps chunkier than I’m used to but it was very fresh and very tasty. The fries were thin and crispy. Hubby had the sausage appetizer and raved about the flavor of the meat. Shared a slice of delightfully warm pecan pie that was excellent. Definitely recommend.

Loved this place

By fred5110 |

We had a wonderful BBQ dinner here. Ordered the 2 meat platter and a 1/2 rack of ribs. Both were excellent. Great sides and a few Shiner's...doesn't get any better.

The bread was wonderful.

By Donna F |

The bread was the best part. The brisket and sausage were good, but the sauce was too spicy. My husband liked it, however. The waiter was very sweet and he was one of the best we had in San Antonio.

Yummy Food and Nice Outdoor Seating

By Tiffany KY |

John our server was quick and on the spot. The homemade bread was worth the extra cost. The fried pickles were delicious. I would suggest eating there for a quick bite. Totally suggest the brisket.

True Texan BBQ

By TRACEY M |

Looking at previous reviews we had to give this restaurant a go . We went for the 3 meat platter and what a delightful taste! We would highly recommend.

Expensive, small portions

By ken j |

People go here to sit by the riverwalk, which is beautiful. But the restaurant is not good. Small portions at big prices. Barbeque was ok, not great. The only positive was that their potato salad was very good. Go somewhere else.

BakerFamily

By BakerFamily |

Had a last minute dinner here after our plane was forced into San Antonio, because of a Dallas/Ft. Worth shut down due to weather. Being from the south is wasn't my idea of BBQ at all. I was OK, but for me thats about all. We ordered the bread and butter appetizer and that was great. It is a unique location and its on the Riverwalk which is very tourist oriented and in most cases overrated and overpriced. Don't want to be to harsh since maybe my opinion is just my take on what BBQ is. Didn't care for the side too much either. But we were appreciative to being probably one of the last tables they served that night.

Good lunch

By amorace |

We had a Friday Special which was a bbq pork or bbq beef sandwich with French fries and a big bowl of beans for $13.99. Great deal on good food!

Average BBQ

By Nicole |

The bread was DELICIOUS!! But other than that I felt the BBQ was average at best. I ordered a brisket sandwich which is my go-to and I felt the bbq sauce was ok and the meat wasn’t that flavorful. The service was ok. They forgot a few things but other than that they were pretty timely and attentive.

Fantastic BBQ place

By Del D |

This was the ideal place — great location— very friendly service from Aaron and the couples meal was perfect: a great combination of brisket, ribs, chicken, sausage and turkey — fabulous BBQ sauces. Will definitely be back.

Come hungry ... and get the brisket!

By Southernfried4 |

I was determined to have some authentic Texas brisket while in San Antonio for the Final Four. But because I didn't have a car and was staying downtown, I was limited to the choices on or around Riverwalk. Touristy areas aren't usually known for having the best restaurants. But The County Line BBQ is the exception to that rule. You can tell the place is going to be good just by walking past it. That smoky aroma of beef cooking low and slow is unmistakable. And the finished product tastes even better than it smells! I got the 2-meat combo with second-cut brisket and sausage, with beans and potato salad as my sides. The brisket was tender and juicy, the sausage was also very good and the BBQ sauce was tangy with a little bit of a delayed-reaction kick. Thank goodness I got the small plate, because I felt like I needed a nap after eating all that food.

Great lunch!

By Millye B |

The chicken fried steak I had for lunch was the real deal! Perfectly cooked with great white gravy! It arrived in ample time for us to eat and return to our meeting. Patrick, our server, was great!

Just ok

By Steve T |

This is a decent BBQ spot but not as good as I expected for Texas. Meat was somewhat fatty which turned some of the group off. BBQ sauce was ok. Sides got mixed reviews as well. Service was also a little slow.

Texas BBQ to kick off our trip!!!

By DannyD81 |

Had a very good dinner at The County Line to kick off our first trip to Texas! Great location on the Riverwalk. We had the shredded beef and brisket sandwiches. Both were very good. Load the bbq sauce on the brisket and dive in! …they even have a corn dog meal for the little ones that aren’t too BIG on BBQ just yet. Apparently, that was a hit, too!

Best BBQ on the Riverwalk

By Sue L |

Lee is an awesome and friendly bartender, mixed a great old fashioned and we highly recommend the smoked maple old fashioned. We shared a brisket platter, the meat was tender and flavorful and the beans, OMG, we could eat a gallon of those. Stop by and check it out

Dinner

By Jaynel C |

We had ribs, brisket, and chicken. Everything was great and portions were "Texas" size! Our server was attentive and kept out drinks full. We would definitely come here again!

Look at your bill before you pay!!

By Dana M |

Had a nice lunch but when bill came, we were charged for more than we ordered. Also the tip percentage calculation is way off. Our $27 bill recommended an 18% tip $10,10 and 20% $11.22 at 25% at 14.03. Way off!

Glad we chose this restaurant

By Debbie |

We had a great meal here. We ordered the stuffed baked potatoes (one with pork, one with turkey) and they were great! Also ordered appetizers. The chips and queso were too spicy for me, but my husband loved them. The half loaf of homemade white bread was amazing! Great view of the River Walk, great service on a Friday night, great food.

Good bar-b-que right on the river.

By William C |

Made a reservation at 6:00 just in case the restaurant was too crowded and we’re seated right away. As we were heading out, it had gotten very crowded so I would recommend a reservation as the riverwalk gets VERY crowded in the evening, and especially on the weekend. Our server was a trainee and was being assisted by an experienced one who did a really good job. She was attentive while not overbearing. The drinks were cold and food hot. Loved to fried pickles as an appetizer. The homemade bread is a must. The meats were all good, turkey, chicken, brisket and sausages. I really liked the baked beans as well. The interior is very cozy, and there are a bunch of outside seating as well.

Good BBQ

By Elaine F |

Good Barbeque in the Texas tradition. The homemade bread is wonderful and worth the price. The brisket and sausage were both very good. Beans are a little watery (but that may be Texas style?)

River walk bbq joint

By Dynamicjohn |

We stayed on the Riverwalk and read up on all the bbq joints around town but we just didn’t have time so county line is on the riverwalk and I couldn’t come to Texas without having bbq!! We went twice and the staff was very nice and helpful with the menu. I really enjoyed the ribs(pork and beef) but thought the brisket was ok. I think this spot is good if your staying on the riverwalk and want your bbq fix

OMG great

By Janice G |

Walking by lures you in with the great smoked smell. Our dinner was fabulous along with the service, Henry. The view was nice also.

Come for the view, not the food.

By Carron H |

While the view is great if you can score a table outside on the river, I was expecting more from the food. Mine was lukewarm at best and the brisket was more slow-cooked than smoked.

Great BBQ

By Pamela R |

I had the BBQ chicken, sausage links, baked beans and Mac and cheese. It was all great. The mango margarita was also really good. I would recommend this restaurant.

Very rich and recommended

By Shalgg |

Very rich and good service. The tree platter is typical Texas food, very delicious. And the best thing right on the River Walk. The waiter was super friendly.

Good BBQ

By dennisd3850 |

Ordered the 2 meat combo of ribs and brisket with mac and cheese and beans. The ribs and brisket were tender and tasty. The mac and cheese creamery. The beans were just ok

We had great service along the River Walk and a fun people watching afternoon

By MNice |

After you hit the Alamo head south across the street (well, actually, we’re from out of town; go towards the big buildings) and go down the stairs along the River Walk. On the left side you will find a version of the famous County Line Barbecue. We sat directly on the River Walk and didn’t venture inside the restaurant. The food is good and they have their famous bread; we ordered a half loaf and it was still too much. Their breaded chicken is really just boneless fried chicken. Our waiter was spectacular and sitting there drinking was a great respite on our brief tour of the Alamo and downtown.

Always Yummy!

By Extraordinary787411 |

Riverwalk was really crowded so was a wait for lunch, but staff seemed right on top of everything and we were seated within time we'd been told. Service was prompt and pleasant even tho super busy. Food great as always.

Texas Two Stepping

By joendaltx05 |

We had dinner at the Riverwalk location and decided on the three meat plate. The brisket was tough and dry. The sausage was average but needed the bbq sauce to spice it up. Ribs were ok but if you prefer those that fall off the bone- these are not that kind. With so many restaurants closed due to Covid we stopped for BBQ. Not a place we would recommend or return to.

On the riverwalk but not a tourist trap.

By E P |

Nothing exceptional, but well placed, meat restaurant. Not much for vegetarians. The server was attentive without pushing for consumption.

Pretty Good, but not the Best

By RMabe_PA |

Had dinner here one evening while on a business trip based on local recommendations. The brisket I had lack flavor, tasted more like a simple roast, but was very tender. The atmosphere, sitting by the rive was very nice and the staff friendly. I certainly had better BBQ in other parts of the country.

Avoid!

By Heather C |

My in laws were visiting from England, and they chose County Line to eat. We were six altogether — me, my husband, our two boys (4 and 15), and my mother in law and father in law. We were there on a Tuesday afternoon when it wasn’t busy. We all sat outside. Our waitress started off alright. She took our drink and food order. The food took forever to arrive. It finally arrived about 45 minutes after we ordered. The food was just okay, and it wasn’t warm. All of it was just room temperature. I expect it was because of our waitress who was just too lazy to bring it out when it was actually ready. She seemed more interested in talking to her coworkers than working. During the long wait for food, we all needed a refill on our drinks. Our lazy waitress never once checked on us during our 45 minute wait. I had to go in and find her which I did. She was talking and joking with her coworker. I asked if we could have our drinks refilled. She said okay. From the time I asked her for refills to her actually bringing them out, it was about 10 minutes. My husband bit into a piece of foil while eating his pulled pork sandwich. Our waitress was nowhere to be found after waiting some time, so he found another waitress and told her. The manager didn’t charge us for that sandwich. I also had some kind of sauce on my cucumbers that were on the side. God only knows what it was. It looked like they had been grabbed from someone else’s plate. Oh, my lemon pepper grilled chicken tasted like it had no seasoning whatsoever. It just tasted like a plain chicken breast. Because we were a party of 6, there was an 18 percent gratuity already added to the check. I guess our lazy waitress thought she would get an automatic easy tip due to this added gratuity. It was funny seeing her expression when my father in law asked her to remove the added gratuity. He did leave her a tip, just not the 18 percent since she was a horrible waitress. She’s lucky she got anything. Avoid County Line. The service is horrible, and the wait times even when not busy are atrocious. The food is only okay. With so many other restaurants on the Riverwalk, go somewhere else.

Delish!

By crocuslover |

On a balmy Sunday in October we decided to have lunch here. Place was hopping but we got a picnic table outside. Pigeons can be a major nuisance here and I had to wipe the pigeon poop off my bench. First great thing was they served ginger ale! Yay! There were four of us and we ordered salads, brisket, chicken kebab and veggie kebab both with baked potatoes and beans. Everything was so so good! Chicken was juicy and delicious. Beans were a home run, potatoes were huge. It was a LOT of food! My veggie kebabs came with potato, beans, salad and bread. A feast! I really loved this place and would make it a point to go back.

Big Daddy Beef Ribs

By Tommy H |

They had the best beef ribs in The Riverwalk. I used to go to Tony Roma's, but the restaurant closed due to fire. So the alternative is this County Line BBQ. They did not disappoint. I had the full rack and shared with my son. All of our hands and mouths got messy and sticky, signs of good BBQ. This restaurant will be our go-to place to eat beef ribs from now on.

Good food, great service

By Michele B |

We just ate here while walking our pup on the river walk. I had the brisket sandwich and it was really good. Hubs had the pulled pork and said it was awesome. Be careful of where you sit though.... couple to our left got pooped on by pigeons in the tree... hilarious to us but probably not to them 🤣

Authentic Texas BBQ on Riverwalk

By Jim W |

Top of the line Texas BBQ on the Riverwalk. Authentic flavors great service. Able to seat 10 of us easily for dinner. A definite must eat BBQ location when down on the Riverwalk.

Good Barbecue, Great Margaritas!

By SuzyQu15 |

We were promptly seated at our table at our 7 p.m. reservation. The portions were very large. We shared an appetizer size pork ribs, plus an entree which included 2 sides, which was more than enough. The margaritas were delicious, served in a large tumbler with ice. Service was good. Located in a scenic area of the river walk.

Horrible service

By kgj28 |

Horrible horrible service, the server Dee had the biggest attitude, forgot our appetizer, disappeared the entire time we were there, only came out to see if we were done twenty minutes later. Not like she was busy, the place was empty and we were the only table. I don’t like to post bad reviews, because everyone works so hard, but this server define needs to learn some basic manners and people skills. Turkey was cold, Coleslaw had giant chunks of the cabbage root in it, also the fries were about as undercooked as they could have been. Super sad that we didn’t enjoy ourselves. Felt like we were not welcomed by the server.

Nice outdoor dining environment

By paxa |

Took a stroll on the Riverwalk after visiting the Alamo. We just arrived in SAT and were too tired to do much research for a place to eat and this place is at one end of the Riverwalk loop where it's much quieter therefore preferable. They have a nice outdoor section with a number of tables right by the river. We had the brisket and half rack of ribs, both were delicious, reasonable prices, although the ribs could have been a bit more tender. The BBQ sauce was very tasty. Coleslaw and potato salad were nice especially the former with very tender cabbage. Overall it's a very pleasant environment to dine in - not as noisy (without the obligatory mariachis) or too much foot traffic, but a great place to people watch as the river cruises pass by frequently which is quite entertaining.

Good service - horrible BBQ

By John N |

Went here for lunch. We had a pulled pork sandwich and ribs. The pulled pork had zero color or seasoning. It looked and tasted like it came from a crock pot filled with water. If he thought long and hard he could maybe think of worse ribs than those served here. Waiter was nice and attentive and the seating on the River was nice but the food was horrible. We have eaten at other County Line restaurants and they were good. Skip this location

A nice place by the riverwalk

By Souvik Bhattacharjee |

It was a pleasant late-noon lunch. What makes the experience best are the tables by the riverwalk. Though u might be a little troubles by over-eager pigeons who’d like to make friends with you. Ordered the 2-meat Combo Platter with Brisket and Pork Ribs. The meal was more than fulfilling. I’d have given a 5 star if not for the hostess, who lost my Credit card. The manager was courteous enough to not charge for the meal for this mishap. The restaurant called me back late at night, as they had recovered my credit card, while cleaning up. But I had already left the city by then. In all, could have been a great experience if not for the short mishap.

Server needs a lesson

By JackandBetty |

We visited with a large party of 11 on a busy Saturday, had called earlier in day for reservation. River walk very crowded. We got there and they didn't have our reservation. That should have been our clue but they created a table and seated us quickly. We ordered and salads were served. The server explained the dressings and said "vinegarette" no mention on the menu about food allergies or nuts in the salad. One in our party began to have a severe allergic reaction as there were nuts and in the menu the dressing says "pecan vinaigrette " He was ill and needed to leave our celebration with his girlfriend. When we tried to explain to the server that they need to describe the dressing correctly and put nut warnings on the menu he argued with us. Sent the Manager over and she was apologetic and took his meal off the menu and wrapped it to go for him. The chicken dishes were very good, the brisket a little fatty. The incident put a damper on things. For a bill that totaled over $300 they could have done more to smooth it over....

Great Service, great food

By Christy C |

My husband and I stopped here for an early lunch before spending the day at the Riverwalk. There was only a couple of other people in there at the time, service was excellent , very quick and the food was delicious!! We both thought the portions were great for the money.

Impressed

By Traveler |

After a long hot day visiting Sea World, our party of 6 was seated immediately. Drinks were ordered and on our table within 5 minutes of being seated. The food was on the table soon after and was delicious! Will recommend & plan on coming back!

Tough Ribs

By Bob M |

My wife and I went to The County Line on the Riverwalk for dinner with friends. We have been there before and the meals were at least passable. One friend had brisket, one turkey, and my wife and I both had pork ribs. Neither friend complained about their meal, but neither raved. Our pork ribs were terrible. We should have known better. Barbecue in Texas is beef. First, they used the spare rib, but did not trim off the row of cartilage on the end making it difficult to separate into individual ribs. A St. Louis cut is much more appropriate for restaurant service. More importantly, they were grossly under cooked. The ribs were extremely tough. Rib meat should have some pull, but come from the bone cleanly. This meat had to be wrestled from the bone and never came off cleanly. Both my wife and I gave up the fight after a few ribs.

Found this place by accident and was well rewarded.

By Tom S |

I was hungry and needed some lunch. I was walking along the Riverwalk and stumbled on this BBQ place. I was SO glad I did.I was hankering for some real Texas BBQ and this place had it. I started with the side Caesar salad, which turned out to be huge and very tasty. Then I had their brisket sandwich and some of their very tasty BBQ sauce. It was fantastic.

The beer was good; dinner below average

By Arnold S |

We had two orders of their 2nd cut platter brisket dinner and a dark shiner for a beverage. The brisket okay, but was exceptionally greasy tasting. The fries and coleslaw were good and a bottle of shiner dark to wash it all down was the best part. By the time I got to the last three slices of meat my stomach started to rebel and I left the rest hopefully for some hungry dog. I have eaten bbq for many years and was looking forward to some great Texas bbq, but I didn't find it here. The County line has to have some of the worst bbq I have ever experienced. If it were not for the bbq sauce I would not have been able to eat as much as I did. The beans were not that tasty either. Since we were on vacation a tip was left, but that was for fairly decent service. It had nothing to do with the poor quality of the food.

Finally Made it to San Antonio Riverwalk!

By BamaGrad93 |

I'm not sure why there have been bad reviews because my husband and I thought the food was great and the service was fast. He had the brisket tacos, and I had the little plate of the peppered turkey with beans and potato salad. Everything was delicious! The turkey was very tender and tasty. Some of the best potato salad and pinto beans that I have eaten at a restaurant. Very flavorful! Our server, Mariah, was very attentive and sweet.

Enjoyed our meal

By KAS |

We had our 1st meal here on the river walk and liked it. Since neither my husband nor I are big eaters we shared the brisket dinner which was good and a piece of pecan pie which was excellent. We liked the atmosphere, our waiter was friendly and helpful and the prices were fair. They do have sitting right by the water but due to the heat we ate inside. We’ll return.

BBQ Flop

By Bill |

Sadly this was a total disaster of a meal. The service was fine, the food not so. I had the rib dinner and while it looked good it was horrible. The ribs were fatty, not cooked properly, zero seasoning, basically a really bad rack of ribs. The beans like the ribs were flavorless, no seasoning, and the cole slaw followed suit, zero seasoning. If this place considers itself to be a BBQ spot, clearly they don’t taste their own food and clearly need an actual chef who knows how to handle BBQ properly.

The Countyline Sucks!

By Douglas M |

We’ve been goi g to the Countyline BBQ in Austin and San Antonio for years. Especially after Texas football games. We always got the beef ribs and took home a bag of dog bones for our 3 dogs. It was another reason to go there. Went there tonight; same order, beef ribs. Poorly cooked ribs with 90% bone and 10% beef. Only 2 meatless ribs - $46 for 2 people. No more green berms on the menu. 4 fried pickle spears - $9. Half a loaf of bread -$5. Two glasses of tea - $7. We had my brother along; 2 meat dish - $19. He had sliced brisket as one of the meats - he got 1/4 lb of brisket. And now the dog bones. They will no longer give you bones for your dogs. They sell them without meat on the bone - 3 for $5! Our meal cost $98 with tax and they expected a tip for a bad, overpriced meal. The Countyline has become a craphole that is no longer worth going to. This was our last meal there. Do yourself a favor. Avoid this BBQ place. Poor quality food that is grossly overpriced. Put them out of business so they can’t fleece and gouge other people. So sad the owner has become so money hungry and greedy. But, not at our expense again.

Excellent Fare

By bearscat |

great choices from brisket, ribs, chicken, fresh breads, big selection of beers and drinks with the ambiance of a bustling BBQ restaurant right on The River Walk. Great beans...

BBQ, Different

By Philip J |

This was a good meal, as I always say, never met a BBQ I did not like, but this isn't NC BBQ! Different type of BBQ but okay. I had Brisket, Smoked Turkey and Ribs, they do not have BBQ (Pulled Pork?) The sides where great, corn on the cob and the slaw was really good, bit chunky but had a great flavor. It was worth the try but I would not try it again, but the locals recommend.

Best Bar-b-que!!!!!

By Stevensonkarrie |

Best bar-b-que we’ve had in a long time. The brisket is so tender and great flavor-so good you won’t need bar-b-que sauce!

Skip the Shredded Beef!

By Theresa L |

Disappointing shredded beef sandwich. I expected more from Texas. My husband and I just wanted a sandwich for lunch so we chose from the lunch special of the day. (you could choose a shredded beef or pulled pork sandwich or a combo of the two). It came with fries with a bowl of beans. Our meal came out quickly. The sandwich was heavily sauced, and contained onions and pickles. I didn't expect pickles. Is that how shredded beef is prepared everywhere in Texas? We didn't care for it. The fries were heavily salted so I only ate a few. The beans were rather soupy but were just okay. I can't speak for all their dishes but we were disappointed.

Tasty

By Maggue |

We ate dinner which was a trio of brisket, ribs and peppered turkey. All three were delicious. We ordered beans and coleslaw as our sides and 1/2 loaf of bread. The beans were good. The coleslaw was large pieces of cabbage with a sauce Did not enjoy it. The bread was huge, 4 very large slices and was served with butter and a cinnamon butter. I enjoyed it my husband didn't as it had a light sweet taste. We had the $3 margarita which was good. So good we came back the next day just to get a margarita. We topped off the dinner with a hot peach cobbler with ice cream. Very good. I would return.

Not happy.

By Sandy C |

Not happy. Came with a large group. We were told we could not order drinks until we are some bread! Don’t go here if you are with a group looking to have fun.

Order the platter for two and the house margaritas

By Melaney68 |

Lines are long at the river walk restaurants in the evening. We were thrilled to get seated right away at this location. Our server had worked since 10 a.m. and still took great care of us with a smile. The house margaritas were perfect and the platter for two would feed three and was a great way to try all the meats. The flavor of the coleslaw was good but the fries could have been hot.

Over rated

By salemcat402018 |

If you want flavor don’t go to County Line. Try Pinkerton or the Smoke Shack. The one thing nice I have to say is the meat was tender. The fried pickles are wedges and the breading is way too thick and someone needs to clean the soda fountain.

Better than expected

By GoneAwayRemington |

The food here doesn’t scream authentic Texas bbq, but it was ok. The sides were very good, as were the drinks. Service was excellent and folks were very friendly.

Total and complete disappointment

By mauidave65 |

What a disappointment. I was expecting so much more from Texas BBQ. We had the platter for 2 which is a sampling of everything with 2 sides. The first platter came out stone cold so we sent that back. The replacement was a little warmer but still bad. None of the meats had any flavor. The ribs were not smoked and were more like boiled. Such a disappointment. Possibly the worst BBQ in all of Texas. Save your money people. Go somewhere else.

There's better bbq is San Antonio

By MMDenault |

The portions were fine and considering this restaurant is on The Riverwalk, the prices were good. But, nothing really to rave about. The file slaw was off and the beans seemed old. The brisket and ribs were good. Atmosphere fun and air condition inside.

Riverwalk barbecue

By mtxprim3 |

Nice restaurant , the good service, the bring you good healthy portions, the food is pretty good , not top tier BBQ but worth a try

Decent food with a great view, nothing to write home about.

By Diane C |

We spent the day at the River Walk and wanted a place to eat a late lunch. There are so many choices and it was really busy. We decided to try County Line, and we had some decent bbq. The meat was surprisingly dry, but the sides were really good. Had a couple of decent drinks. The best part was sitting right on the river, but there are other places to do that. The experience was alright, but I wish we'd picked somewhere else.

So Delicious

By McDonald ♡'s travel |

It was so good we ate there twice for lunch and went back just for dessert because we were so full the first two times. We tried the chicken, sausage, brisket, mac and cheese, fried pickles and a lot more. Everything was delicious and the service was great. When we went for mid-day dessert our server was the nicest man we had a very nice chat about his recent engagement. If you try this place try to save room for dessert and definitely try the Kahlua Chocolate Chip Brownie or the peach cobbler.

Very disappointed

By Patricia M |

We were looking for a good place to have barbecue on the River Walk and this was a restaurant that was recommended. We ordered the 3 meat plate and I shared with my husband. I ordered the brisket, chicken and paid extra for the ribs. All of it was very disappointing. Also, they give you a very small amount of food. The brisket was dry and not moist and had the texture of pork and you got a few very small slices. You got a few ribs that were also disappointing and you pay extra for the ribs. The chicken was chicken it would take a lot to ruin chicken. I would absolutely not recommend this place. The food is definitely edible but not what you would think barbecue would be in Texas. Nashville is the place for the best barbecue.

Dried Out

By Joseph W |

Ribs an baked potato were served 2 minutes after we ordered. Apparently both were on heating rack for some time. Both ribs and baked potato were dried out. Worst excuse for ribs I ever had.

Decent food

By ElConquistador000 |

We enjoyed being able to eat outside on the river walk. Great location. Our server, Victoria, had great recommendations. We loved the food and good beer as well.

BBQ WOW!

By worldtravelier |

Service great, quality of a vast menu wonderful. Went with 9 everyone had rave review. A must go. Happy travels!

Just OK

By Kathy M |

We went to the restaurant for dinner. My husband ordered the BBQ chicken and I ordered the BBQ ribs. The ribs were really large and meaty, but the flavor just okay. Same with the chicken. The service was very good. Our server came over frequently to check on us. We would return, but it would not be our first choice.

Worst BBQ I have ever eaten

By Trina Louise |

The food was overly salty. And I am being nice. The only good thing about my meal was the "homemade bread" and the butter that came with it. So, pretty much, that was my lunch. Bread and butter. I would not recommend this place at all. Nor will i be back

It’s a lot of money for what you get.

By Getowork |

Well, here in Texas, we do love our BBQ.!County Line is a chain BBQ. This one is on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. Outside on the river you can order food and drinks and enjoy the passing boats with people and also watch people walking by. These are great parts about the restaurant. However, you pay for that. On the menu, you can order a variety of plates. The standard BBQ is offered, brisket, sausage, pork ribs, beef ribs, chicken, and turkey. The prices are a bit high for what you get. You expect to pay for a meal and tea $20 a person. Some plates are much more. Also the portions are minimal. My wife and I bought a combo plate for two, around $42 with tea. It comes with 1 beef rib. How do you share 1 beef rib. 4 1/2 slices of brisket. 1 small sausage, 4 1/2 slices of turkey. 4 St. Louis style ribs,With 2 sides. Not a good deal. Also, the food is dry. It’s been reheated. There are much more fair options for BBQ. The service is Riverwalk service, almost like no service. So, you are on the Riverwalk so, what do you expect? Good luck. Cheers!

Just ok!

By 80bey709 |

I remember eating at The County Line in Lubbock. After eating at this one, I was a really disappointed. Everything was good except the meat. The pork ribs were tough. Smoked turkey was ok, but I definitely have had better. IF I ever go back I might try a different type of meat.

Go see Lee

By BMF70 |

Lee the bartender gave great service. Quick with refills and help navigating the menu had ribs appetizer , potato salad and beef sandwich lunch special.

Worst BBQ in San Antonio

By Miguel N |

I went to its branch in Austin and it was awesome but this branch is totally disappointing ribs was over cook (dry and burn) and the brisket that supposed to be tender it was solid as rock. Sides just average. The original bread is awesome but it don’t worth to visit a bbq site just for the bread. AVOID THIS PLACE

Good barbecue restaurant on Riverwalk.

By Bob S |

We enjoyed a great Riverwalk view while munching on yummy ribs & brisket! Good for people-watching on river with reasonable prices for Texas barbecue & drinks. About $55 for 2.

Very good pulled pork sandwich

By AmazingSparkle |

Very good pulled pork sandwich & brisket! Very quick service! Great place to eat lunch! Seat very quickly!

Good Food at a Fair Price

By booshouse |

We thought the food here was very good. Hubby ordered the 1/2 rack and I ordered the Lite 2 meat with sausage and brisket. It was still a ton of food even though it was the Lite option. The sauce was good and the food was also good. I would recommend eating here. We ate at the SA location, not the Riverwalk location.

Dry brisket, chicken and turkey

By txbatgirl |

Ate here with a group and no one was impressed. We’re all from Texas and have eaten good bbq, but this was definitely some of the worst. All meats were dry and sausage was a link like bratwurst or something. Very disappointing.

Average BBQ

By trey_pa9 |

The beef rib was very tough which made it difficult to get a decent bite and it was flavorless. The pork rib was solid as were the sausages. The brisket was okay. The service was mediocre. It was an average to slightly below average meal when weighing the cost of it all.

Just okay

By cjbphd |

we both opted for mixed plates, sowe could get to taste a larger choice in both meats and sides. We so wanted to love it all, sadly not so. The beef ribs were way over cooked and very dry. The other meat choices were good to very good. We both felt sides were pathetic and just not tasty. Would we go again probably not there has to to be better BBQ in San Antonio

Solid Meal. I’ll give it a 6.5

By Hovitez1979 |

This was solid dinner. Portions were decent. Salad was nice. Setting on the Riverwalk brought rating up. The bbq was ok but the smoked chicken was dry. The beans side were yuk. Waiter looked like the baddy murderer from Ghost and was not attentive. Clearly thought tips are a given not earned.

Summer Vacation 2019

By Randall H |

If it is authentic Texas barbeque you seek, your search has ended! Friendly staff, spacious dining area and quick delivery of our order! They have the best Ribs and Brisket we've ever tried (because that's what we had)! You will NOT be disappointed!

Not that good

By Richard M |

We went there for pork ribs, Brisket and BBQ chicken. The chicken was dry and so was the brisket. My pork was okay with the ends dry and burnt. Compared to the other BBQ places in San Antone, this place is mediocre at best and expensive. Since we only had BBQ, I cannot say if the other items on the menu are good or bad.

Good BBQ on the River Walk

By Linor T |

This restaurant is located on the River Walk and you can choose indoor or outdoor seating. The staff were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was what you would expect from a Texas BBQ house. The food was good and a little on the pricier side. There are probably better BBQ houses in Texas, but this one is worth a try if you are in the River Walk area.

Yes for BBQ! What a great

By Jaeed |

Yes for BBQ! What a great place! Delicious food and the atmosphere was great too! All the portions are nice size. Decent prices for everything and kids even get plenty to eat!!

Great BBQ

By disneyfan1120 |

Was great food. You must order the bread it was so good with the honey butter. My son and I enjoyed a combination plate for 2 and my husband had the turkey. Everything tasted great. The Mac and cheese was the best I have had at a BBQ place. We also enjoyed out riverside table.

I expected better

By Kyle V |

Went for an early dinner. The service was great and sat at a table next to the river. The BBQ was average at best. The cole slaw was not tasty and the fires were typical frozen fries.

BBQ done right

By CMPOOLSHARK |

One of the several many choices for a meal along the Riverwalk in San Antonio, but well worth choosing over most of the others. The County Line is a chain of 7 restaurants across Texas and New Mexico. Their primary faire is BBQ and they know what they are doing. Can’t say as much for some of the other tourist trap eateries along the river. The environment is rustic, but clean, the prices reasonable and the service is great. I had the pulled pork with potato salad and coleslaw. My wife had the turkey sandwich. All scored high with us, which is a compliment as we have dined in 50 states and 8 countries. A definite new entry on our list of favorites.

Great Dinner Spot right on the River

By Sean C |

This dinner provided some of the best brisket Ive had. We arrived shortly before closing time so it didnt take long to get seated. Our "45 minute wait" really only took about 10 minutes. Our service was great and the food was delicous.

Acceptional food

By Marilyn L |

Food was great as well as the server, Tracy T. Meat combos are terrific with alots of food. Will sure to bring our out of town guest there.

Service sucks

By Roxanne S |

We were seated and promptly ignored by three different wait staf while three tables that came in after us were all taken care of. Got up and walked out. Hostess didn’t even ask us on way out why we were leaving since she had just seated us. Made best choice going across to Bubba Gumps instead.

BBQ on the River Walk

By Bmccormick65 |

If you like heat then try the queso dip with added burnt ends! You will need a beer. The pulled pork sandwich is piled high and moist. We had both sauces one mild and one sweet .

Very disappointed

By Vince S |

I ordered the 2 beef rib plate -- I could see other people that had, and they looked good. The two they brought me, however, were about 6 inches long and had practically no meat on them -- obviously both from the very end. (Sorry, really wish I'd taken a picture.) I've eaten here many times, each seemingly worse than the last, but never again -- the prices are exorbitant for the quality, and I can get much better barbeque for $21. I'm not sure why anyone would serve food like this, but I hope the folks who were given the good ribs were happy with them. I'm afraid that those of you who have given this place good reviews will eventually be as disappointed as I am.

Dinner Experience

By Sheryl |

The restaurant is located on the banks of the River Walk in San Antonio, with beautiful scenery and a great place to relax. This time the St. Louis ribs, the second beef and the legendary homemade bread. The ribs taste soft and tasteful, beef breasts are rich in oil flowers, the smell of chimney is abundant, very satisfied with meat control! And the bread is indeed a sign, the inside of the sauce is soft, combined with the cream makes it unbearable to continue. Service staff are polite and will actively water and ask if the taste is satisfied. It's raining on the day, the temperature is cool, and it's especially comfortable to eat along the river. The overall atmosphere brings a little relaxation and is ideal for a family meal or a small break during the trip. Overall, it was a pleasant Texas barbecue experience, recommended to friends at River Walk!

Good BBQ, Good service

By tngregscott |

Stopped here for late supper on our last night roaming the Riverwalk in San Antonio. It's hard to impress someone like me that lives so close to Memphis with BBQ, but I'm always up to trying out a new place. The peppered BBQ turkey was really good; the ribs were so-so (a little under-seasoned); and while we would love to talk about their famous homemade bread - we never got any (even after 2 requests). The sweet tea was great (first batch) - the next two glasses were almost unsweet. But, overall it is a good spot for BBQ, not overpriced, and the service was good.

Great food, great atmosphere

By James H |

We stopped in for a burger and we’re pleasantly surprised. Great food and atmosphere. Service was very good. I would recommend this place to eat

Good BBQ

By Elise Garcia |

This was a nice BBQ spot- and as a Texan we are serious about our BBQ. The food was literally falling off the bone. The servings are just right and the staff is very nice. Not many places offer hot wings and half a rack of ribs as an appitizer but this one did. All in all a good experience.

Good Service

By John N |

The service was quick, the food was delivered hot, and the price was reasonable. I thought the sauce flavor was lacking, but that could be a personal opinion. Bianca was my server and she was excellent.

BBQ on the river

By JeanfromFL |

We enjoyed our dinner right on the river. The food was tasty and comparable to some of the nicest BBQ we have experienced, we were not disappointed. We found the portions to be ample. The BBQ sampler dinner had chicken, sausage, ribs and brisket. Very good.

This is texas bbq?

By Habby N |

A little disappointed in the quality of bbq. I have always heard that Texas bbq can't be beat. So the wife and I ordered the platter for 2 that comes with a sampling of all the meats. Brisket, pork ribs, sausage, turkey, and chicken. Sides were slaw and beans. Dessert was the peach cobbler. Also ordered a half of their homemade bread.so the bread was excellent. The best I can remember having. The sausage was just ok. Good snap and decent taste. The pork ribs were excellent also. Perfect seasoning and cooked properly. The chicken was good but some bites required water to wash it down. The turkey was drier than the Sahara. Finally the brisket. Well let's just say I almost got lock jaw from chewing. Lacked seasoning. No bark and dry. What did I forget? Oh yeah the cobbler. Well it is nothing to write home about. You remember those dollar fruit pies that we would pop in the microwave? Well that's what it tasted like. Now the service was great. Our waiter did a good job keeping us in drinks. The sad thing is that you walk into a texas bbq joint and the best thing on the menu is the bread and pork ribs.

Good BBQ place right on the RiverWalk

By dorsalmo |

Great table right on the RiverWalk. Food was good. Margaritas in a shaker were really good. Service was really slow, though, even by COVID standards.

Riverwalk BBQ

By Sue Albany |

We LOVED this place. Hard to get into on a weekend night but well worth it. The best place to go for brisket which our tour guide said was essential to have if you're in TX. Derrick and JimmyJoe were great servers. Very attentive, friendly, gave us suggestions. Ask your hotel for recommendations and this will come up, but the hotels have coupons for free appetizers, etc. Ours did this and we were very happy. They aim to please, so don't be shy, just ask how you want your meal. This is right on the river walk so it's easy to find. Open air dining. Food is plentiful and delish. Beware of the receipt however. How they figure out their "suggested tip" section is beyond simple math. You DO NOT tip on taxes, only the service. I will bet there's a law somewhere on this. Tip is for the server/food prep. Not the Gov't!! Ugh. Otherwise, this place is a must !

Excellent BBQ

By Cindy J |

This was a great find for our first night in San Antonio. We shared a sampler platter which was a great (and very reasonably priced) option to be able to try a variety of meats. And the bread was delicious - don't skip this, it's well worth the additional $5. Very good service.

Good

By whatadude |

We stopped in here while visiting the river walk. It's a nice place right on the water. They say it's the only BBQ restaurant on the river walk. The BBQ was good but the sides were mediocre. I would eat here again.

Ok bbq!

By cheri975 |

We had lunch here and it was pretty good. The brisket and sausage were ok, not the best, but fair. The potato salad and cole slaw were both very good though! We would eat here again.

Delicious aroma..disappointing food

By teenakay51 |

This restaurant is on the riverwalk. We were drawn in because it smelled delicious. We ordered the four meat platter to share. It was a ton of food and the sides were delicious. The pork ribs and beef ribs has a good taste but they were very tough and we could hardly get the meat from the bone. The smoked turkey, brisket, and smoked sausage were all very good. Our server did a good job.

Not TX BBQ

By Michael O |

It’s BBQ but if you’re really looking for Texas BBQ I’d go somewhere else. All meats were smokey but bland as was the banana pudding we had at the end.

Dessert and drinks

By tiffers2184 |

Amazing cobbler...peach was the special for the night. The ice cream was amazing on top. Kids had the shakes, vanilla and strawberry, some of the best I have had. Also had a 30oz Meltdown Rita Grande as a drink that was great.

Nice place to get something to eat

By jssc21 |

It was an extremely wet night when we went and the restaurant was quite quiet. The meal was nice and the server was very attentive

Great Service, blah BBQ

By Darryl S |

Staff were great but BBQ wasn't. The brisket was one step away from a pot roast. Sausage was okay. Turkey was decent. I just a BBQ restaurant by if I need to put BBQ sauce on the brisket. Definitely needed to at County Line Riverwalk. If you are looking for the best Texas BBQ, don't go here.

An Okay Barbecue Place

By RMB634 |

We were part of a tour group with dinner included at County Line. Our offerings were limited. The Barbecue foods were good and the sauce good, not the best I have ever had. The service due to the large group was just okay.

Just OK

By mjenks8 |

Not great for TX BBQ. I should’ve known being in the middle of tourist central River Walk. Pork ribs were good. Sausage and brisket were just ok. Brisket was braised I think, then smoked. It didn’t have a slow smoked texture. It was tender but too tender almost, if that’s even possible. Service at the bar was good. Bradley I think, he was the best part of the visit. Corn on the cob was mushy, beans were good. Sauces weren’t that good either. Definitely would not return but it was ok.

BBQ

By AndyKansasCity |

This is a BBQ restaurant located on the River Walk, so has a great location. We had the brisket tacos, pulled pork plate, and sausage plate. The sausage was good and the lighter serving was plenty.

Good barbecue and good service but not outstanding.

By Jim C |

We got the two person sampler with turkey, ribs, chicken, brisket and sausage. It was all good but what really disappointed was the sauce. The meat was good and sides were huge servings. We got our order quickly and efficiently and we left very full and satisfied, just not super impressed.

Not as good as I was hoping

By cansecret |

I was really looking forward to Texas bbq but was disappointed. Nothing I ate from the meal for two with portions of many meats made me want to return? The ribs were soggy. I make better dry rub ribs at home. My husband did love the cole slaw!

Good BBQ, excellent Riverwalk views

By DrAlliI |

We recently visited San Antonio and had a hankering for some Texas BBQ with a view. The County Line did not disappoint. The food was good - not the best BBQ I've had in Texas, but nonetheless good; portion sizes were large; and the views of the Riverwalk were the best. We enjoyed sitting outside and people watching as we enjoyed our meal. Our server was phenomenal - the best service we had the entire time we were in San Antonio!

Good Brisket

By kidflemingo |

I dont normally BBQ on the riverwalk but I was too lazy to drive anywhere else. I have eaten here a few times and it is always good, not great but good. Heck good Texas BBQ is still better than anywhere else. I had the ribs and second cut brisket and the ribs were a little cold but the brisket was great. I should have ordered all brisket. The server did a great job. If you have never had Texas BBQ then this is a good place to try it.

Excellent dinner

Went here for dinner after a long day at the Alamo and in the San Antonio area. Staff was wonderful and super helpful at all times. We had to wait for a seat, but we had a party of 7, so understandable. We ordered a sampler platter and each of the meats were wonderful. Price was average as expected for a BBQ place and the kids got Ice Cream included in their kids meal price. Overall wonderful experience. Would recommend and return.
