Great restaurant!

Very good restaurant. Great food and great service, as well as convenient location. Highly recommended for everyone.

Beginning of a great night

By Debra W |

What an incredible experience from start to finish. Our waiter was attentive, personable and very precise. He inquired of our timeline for the night and stated that we wouldn’t miss our evening event. The kitchen promptly serviced hot, delicious and eye appealing food. The busboys inconspicuously removed empty plates and eating utensils. A special birthday surprise didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for the exceptional experience❣️

What a great dinner just prior to the theater

By Vacation-Advocates |

The octopus appetizer was one of the best I’ve ever had. The Dearborn burger was simply amazing, cooked to perfection, extremely depth and flavor, and one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. In addition, we had a prosciutto and arugula pizza with an egg, and it was extremely tasty, what a nice place just blocks away from the theaters.

Experience not to be repeated

By FrancescaR1986 |

Very cool place, we didn't like it at all. Exorbitant prices, ridiculous portions. The service was terrible. We waited at the bar counter for a table for almost 45 minutes, with half the tables empty. Elaborate dishes, but the cost is not justifiable. You go out hungry. Experience not to be repeated.

Simply outstanding

By Paul Bennett |

In Chicago for the Bears game (Chargers - we lost again) in October 2019, and caught up with a friend from the Raiders game / Tottenham Stadium a few weeks previous (just happened to be Clodagh the owner). Fantastic food; great service. Thank you guys for a fantastic evening and sorry it has taken me so long to write this review. I remain optimistic for the Bears btw.

Sunday brunch + live music = pure vibes!

By Denney P |

The service was outstanding, and the vibe was relaxed and inviting—we even got to enjoy live music during Sunday brunch until 3 p.m.! Will absolutely be back!!!

A dinner at the Dearborn

By Phillip B |

Great tasting food and service was very good. My son had the Midwest fried chicken and Parmesan truffle fries and I had the Amish chicken curry. Both were excellent and came out hot. Waitress refilled our drinks and was attentive to our needs. I would highly recommend!

Delicious Dinner

By StaceyTPC |

Stumbled upon this restaurant and was so pleased. Our waitress was so friendly and cool, the vibes were perfect and the food was SO good.

Excellent meal selections, before going to the theater.

By T D |

Excellent food and service makes this a place to return to every time we are in the area. Menu selections are great, staff is always helpful.

Unprofessional Hostess, Poor quality food, ridiculous charges

By aaronfmd |

The hostess, Ingrid, was a jerk. I called and asked to move my reservation from 530 to 6. She told me if I showed up after 545 I would lose my reservation. I showed up at 540 and she told me I asked for a 6 pm seating, and I was welcome to wait at the bar. Ha ha! There’s no place to stand in the packed bar and she knew it. Seated at 10 after 6 after standing for 30 min. Seated by the restroom. Well played. If you want a professional dining experience go somewhere else. If you want to get screwed around with, this is your place! Wait staff was the highlight of the visit. Hamburger Wellington tasted like blue cheese cat vomit. I’m not kidding. It was disgusting and I suspect rancid. Pepper sauce for the steaks was really good. Finally, $2 for ice in my $17 drink is an insult (see screenshot). I won’t go back.

Quick Get awat

By matt s |

On the way back from visiting family, we stopped in Chicago for a show. Chanced on the Dearborn because it was close to the hotel and took reservations. We had excellent service and the manager stopped to chat about our meal. The chicken fried ribeye sounds dodgy, but it was great. Reasonable prices for downtown Chicago and a solid beer menu.

Beautiful evening

By Manuel G |

Very warm welcome with a warm waiter. Quality of dishes of very good level. Modern and clean room. My best dinner in Chicago and I finally found pleasure in eating again. As a result, the value for money is good compared to what is practiced in Chicago.

Nice location food lacking

By Hinsdalejoe |

Started well with a nice Prosecco and ended well with a great cappuccino, wish we would have skipped the food in between. Wife had a sandwich which was not great. I wished to eat lightly so ordered a Quiche and a side of potatoes. Spuds were great sautéd with mushrooms, but Quiche was a big disappointment. I like quality over quantity. The slice was huge, so they needed to burn the outside to cook the inside, and it wasn’t very good. Plus, it was served on a tiny plate so food kept falling off onto the table. Pointed it out to served and manager who defended that it had to do with presentation. Doesn’t make sense as food on the table is the opposite. I did see some people being served fish and chips and the fish looked very nice, not sure about the fries. Come here for people watching and a drink, nothing else.

Delicious Burgers and Home-made Ice Cream

By RCSColumbus |

This wonderful, stylish gastropub offers an inventive and creative menu serving everything from burgers to marrow. We opted for the burgers, which were outstanding. The side salad is excellent with their house lemon vinaigrette dressing. Save room for dessert, because the homemade chocolate ice cream is absolutely scrumptious, some of the best I've ever had. My wife's cherry-chocolate ice cream didn't taste much like cherry or chocolate, so that was the only miss of the evening. Overall, The Dearborn is a great experience, with excellent food, decor and service. We highly recommend.

Near the Nederlander

By HubbellGardiner |

Overall I enjoyed our meal. We sat at a nice quiet table. The waitress wasn’t overly friendly but competent. We ordered too much. I enjoyed the burger and the Brussel sprouts. My friend enjoyed her salad with chicken. I would go again if i visited Chicago and attended the theater again

After play, after glow...

By Lisa W |

Nice place to go for creative cocktails after the show. Truffle fries and Mac n cheese were ordered at our table for the hungry actress who put on two shows of A Christmas Carol that day. Great service and a special place to make memories.

Buzzy place for lunch with friends

By Sarah C |

This is a great place for a quick lunch with friends, located handily in the Loop. I enjoyed the burger while my companions had the buffalo chicken. There's a real buzzy atmosphere and the wait staff are very attentive

A new discover in downtown Chicago

By foodieinGR |

On a recent mini vacay to Chicago I was wandering around downtown looking for a quick lunch and stumbled across The Dearborn. The menu posted outside looked like just what I was in the mood for (light, healthy options). The interior design was very well done with something cool to be seen and appreciated everywhere your eye landed. Had the Mezze sampler (olives, tzatziki, eggplant puree, white bean humus, etc) and the Shrimp & Grits and both where very well executed with skill and care. The prices were reasonable and the staff friendly and helpful in discussing what other establishments I should check out during my visit. Highly recommended.

5 stars! Excellent, delicious food & impeccable service.

By Tempesttost |

We experienced excellent, friendly, and caring service from everyone we encountered at The Dearborn. The food was delicious and served promptly (we had the Dearborn Burger with Truffle fried, the Fish & Chips that beat Bobby Flay, and roasted Brussels sprouts. We devoured our food and highly recommend those dishes. The restaurant also has a listing of alcohol-free cocktails and even a Riesling. These were wonderful as well. The location is especially convenient if you are seeing a show at the Goodman or other local theatres.

Nice Gem

By GattoViziato |

The place is located in the theatre district , but do t let that divert you. During the week it’s packed with locals and for a good reason. The bar area is packed , they offer a nice variety of beverages. The food is outstanding , well prepared and high quality. I had a fast meal which was the fish and chips. The cod was fresh and well prepared. What a nice dish, will be back to try other dishes.

Delightful

By Tim Z |

In summary, this restaurant is truly delightful. It emanates a warm and inviting atmosphere, while the staff greets you with utmost friendliness. Our server provided excellent attention throughout our visit. We opted for a couple of invigorating grapefruit mimosas and indulged in the delectable Dearborn Burgers. The mimosas were refreshing, and the burgers proved to be absolutely delicious. Accompanied by a choice of salad, fries, or truffle fries, the burgers truly offer great value for your money. Without hesitation, I highly recommend this restaurant for a lovely brunch, lunch, or dinner date.

Thank you again.

By Theo |

The food was very good, the staff very friendly and service oriented. We were there as a family and we all loved it.

Our favourite restaurant

By Silvio Nenna |

The Dearborn Restaurant / Bar has turned out to be our favorite restaurant in our 6 active Chicago stay. Excellent care, great, smart, lively ambience, whether lunch, afternoon or evening always well staffed. The food and drinks were excellent. Highly recommended! Silvio Nenna, Switzerland

Scrumptious Brunch and Very Attentive Service

By caribtraveler2010 |

We enjoyed a weekend brunch at The Dearborn. After being seated quickly in a nice, quiet booth by the window overlooking Randolph street, the server answered all our questions about the menu and took our order. The highlight was the Crab Cake Benedict with everything prepared perfectly with spot-on seasoning. So delicious and well-balanced with a bright green salad on the side. We also enjoyed a side of Dearborn Potatoes, the second favorite dish, again with great seasoning, not overly salty like in some places. The Cinnamon Roll French Toast is really a dessert. Everything that sounds like breakfast in their "for your sweet tooth" section of the menu is really a dessert. So, beware. It was HUGE and very rich. A little crisper on the outside than expected but it was pretty good. Just wouldn't order it again as it comes topped with a mound of whipped cream and is rather sweet. The service throughout our meal was very quick to fill up water glasses, check on us at the appropriate times, etc. The General Manager, Greg, stopped by the tables and chatted with us and other tables. Very amiable and pleasant and offered to help in any way we needed. Overall a 5-star experience! We will be back, at least for the Crab Cake Benedict (only offered at weekend brunch) and Dearborn Potatoes!

Fantastic

By CharlotteEC |

Visited on a busy Friday 2 days before the Marathon. Service was brilliant and super friendly. 2 of us had steaks and another had a pizza, we shared the greek mezze. Food was delicious and cooked how we asked for it. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent food, warm and inviting atmoshpere

By toma_nova |

Visited on a Thursday at 7pm, no reservation needed. Sat at a hightop in the bar area - lively but not crowded or loud. Very attentive service with great recommendations for both drink and food specials. Delicious cocktails, "normal" Loop prices at $20. Excellent fish and chips and veggie gnocchi. Nice shared dessert to end. Would visit again next time we're in Chicago.

Delicious Sunday Brunch

By Irina |

The Dearborn is a very modern, upscale, popular restaurant, located in the Theater District of Chicago Loop, at 145 N Dearborn St. I've been to this restaurant several times before, but never to Sunday Brunch. The restaurant was very busy, and I was seated at the bar, where a friendly bartender gave me the menu, and commented on a few options. I have to say, that besides the high quality of meals, the restaurant also serves huge portions, as was always the case during my past visits to The Dearborn. It wasn't easy for me to place an order this time, and with the help of a friendly bartender I made a decision. I also have to say, that it was the right decision: Fried Perch Benedict with a small salad turned out to be one of the best delicious meals, I've eaten in the restaurants -- everything in this meal was perfect: cornflaked-breaded Lake Superior perch, wilted spinach, an English muffin, poached eggs topped with Creole Hollandaise sauce. I truly enjoyed this meal very much! And I wasn't too hungry before, when I came to the restaurant in late morning :) Hot tea was excellent, as well. The service was very attentive, helpful and friendly. One more important thing: ambiance. The jazz band trio was playing a very pleasant music, and the female singer was just lovely! That created great impressions and memories of an excellent Sunday Brunch. Thank very much, see you next time.

A Tastebud Delight

By Vee T |

I stopped in on Sunday for brunch. There was no line & I was alone so I sat the bar. Angies was pleasant and conversational. I appreciated the fact that she had eaten things on the menu. I settled in the shrimp n grits. Being from the South I was skeptical about the dish. Well I was wrong the shrimp were cooked perfectly. The grits were okay but the gravy was the star of the dish. It was so full of flavor & that is the key to this dish. I also had a hot girl slimmer to go w/ it. It was the perfect drink a balance of alcohol and sweet w/o being too sweet or fruity. This was definitely a good find & a tastebud delight for about $35.

My family and I had dinner at the Dearborn before a play. The server was friendly and attentive. The ambience was great, the restaurant was decorated for Christmas and had holiday music playing. However, the food was not good.... The fish and chips was bland. The Dearborn hamburgers were md. The wellington hamburger, not edible.... The drinks were pricey (normal chicago pricing) but good. Oddly, the restaurant smelled of urine to my family and I.

What I’d hoped for

By Mary F |

Friendly lady bartender, took great care. Sometimes solo guests are overlooked or worse, but not here. Fast service from bar staff. Great food (burger, fries, wine) , andlovely ambience. Terrific

Good food, good drinks, but somewhat pricey

By AnniK_K |

We visited the Dearborn just for drinks about two months ago and came back because we wanted to try their food. It was good, though not great and the prices are pretty high. That being said, the service is really good and so are the drinks.

Great Choice

By Irene |

So glad I found the Dearborn online. Booking the reservation with Sarah, the asst gen'l mgr by phone, I already sensed this would be good. My two grown daughters and I were in Chicago for one night staying at the LaSalle Hotel which was in walking distance of the Dearborn - but since it was raining we got an Uber and arrived timely for our reservation. It is crowded and lively even at the early hour of 6:00. We were seated in a very quiet tiny hall in a booth with oh so much privacy. Jeremy our server was there promptly and understood our desire for a longer than usual stay. Our sommelier, Kisong Mun, was outstanding!!! One daughter ordered the new on the menu - buffalo chicken pizza , and we all LOVED it! Sort of envious I didn't go that route but my fish and chips were excellent. Wonderful experience and in a world of rising expenses do-able.

Delicious

By NinaLeeYYC |

We had the Kale pizza, Brussels sprouts, crab and tuna nachos and a couple rounds of Moscow Mules. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. A really elevated experience.

Highly recommend!

By Frida L |

Good food and nice atmosphere. What pulls down from a fiver is that we unfortunately got the wine after we had received the food and that everyone's food in the company did not come at the same time.

The Dearborn made it to the top of our favorite stops in Chicago

By Eileen R |

A group of the family planned a long weekend in Chicago. Our mission was to see all the sights and sample as much food as possible. On our list were all the famous Chicago eateries. We lucked out and found The Dearborn and had lunch. It was excellent! I had the fish and chips. It was the best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time. The atmosphere was delightful and our server was excellent. Thank you to Nikola for making our lunch even better. We will be back.

Perfect spot before a show!!

By Car7177 |

This is the perfect spot before a show at the James Nederlander Theatre! It is right across the street. Food was great and service was fantastic. A special (but not outrageous priced) spot to start the night!

Great place for casual dining

By Simon C |

A great place, good location, friendly staff, generous food portions at a reasonable price (for Chicago). Its traditional fare, with a blissfully relatively limited menu, but we had no trouble choosing and enjoyed the food.

Steaks were disappointing

By GrandTour418880 |

The service was fine but for an upscale restaurant the food was not good. The steaks were a major disappointment. Not flavorful . Small portions for the price and not cooked as ordered. Chicken was good.

Highly recommend

By sammatthews6 |

Great meals. The fish and chips are no joke, i see why it beat Bobby Flay. We actually ate there 2x during our 5 day trip which speaks for itself. The others stand out was the calamari blt (lunch) and pepperoni and hot honey pizza. Make reservations. The first time for dinner we waited over an hour so be prepared.

Delicious!

By Marina |

Nice environment, attentive staff. We went on reservation and, we had no problems to enter. The house was full, however, there were no queues. Well-presented and tasty dishes.

Old Fashioned at the Dearborn

By 66dino66 |

Going to the Goodman for SantaLand Diaries. Had a great lunch at the Dearborn. 11:30 am on Sunday. Sat at the bar, no waiting! Started with an old fashioned, followed by the Dearborn burger, medium with fries. 10/10! Wife had blt with avocado, 10/10 also.

Excellent food in the Loop area

By MVSanDiego_Traveler |

I had the two best meals of my Chicago trip at the Dearborn. The first time, it was the fish and chips that beat Bobby Flay’s. They were as good as any I’d had on the West Coast (and there’s some stiff competition in California and Washington). The ambiance is appealing, and the service is good. My second meal was the Dearborn’s filet mignon. I chose the Brussels sprouts as a side dish. Delicious, and at competitive prices. I topped off the second meal with an interesting rhubarb/ginger cake with strawberry mousse. A memorable meal. I was also pleased to learn that the restaurant is owned by two sisters, Amy and Clodagh Lawless. I highly recommend dining at this restaurant in the Loop area.

Good place

By Pamela P |

It's a very comfortable place. The service is very good and the food I tried was delicious. The chicken sandwich buffalo is one of the richest I've ever tasted. I would definitely come back. I recommend it.

Perfect!

Great food and the staff was super friendly and professional. Very enjoyable. Would definitely go back!

Fish 'N' Chips!

By Irina |

It was a late lunch for me, but in a very familiar and a very welcoming restaurant -- The Dearborn. Located in the center of Theatre District, this restaurant has been very popular with business people, theatre goers, both small and large parties, people of all ages. Its two spacious dining areas are tastefully appointed and modernly decorated, tables are placed quite distantly from each other, the indoor dining area is well-lighted and well-aired. The day I visited the restaurant in July, the front window panel of the indoor dining room was purposely taken out -- so that the outdoor fresh air and the ceiling fans of the restaurant could create the perfect air circulation, and a very pleasant dining environment indoors. The restaurant was very clean, the sanitation measures were in place, in accordance with the state regulations for that time period in summer. The Dearborn is commonly known as an urban tavern, with a modern interior design, an upbeat ambiance, excellent food and great service. And it was just like this: I was seated right away, the server was attentive , friendly and cordial, and very helpful with the menu. I ordered Fish 'N' Chips. If you ever visit this restaurant -- try it! The size of the meal was overly generous, tempura-battered cod was fantastically tender and tasted delicious, fries were abundant, house-made and melted in my mouth. House salad was very fresh and tasty, as well. The amiable server regularly refilled my coffee cup, and coffee was fresh-made and also very tasty. It was so enjoyable to dine in this restaurant, in a very friendly environment. For better description of the location: The Dearborn is a part of Block 37, located at its south-east corner. The views from the dining rooms are great, too: I could see James M. Nederlander Theatre across E Randolph St , and Goodman Theatre up N Dearborn St, and I knew all along, that Cadillac Palace Theater is just a several minutes walk from the restaurant. Thank you very much, my lunch was fantastic -- and I look forward to being back to The Dearborn in the near future!

Great atmosphere-trendy spot-good food-pricey

By Carol K |

Great food with nice prep. We had the Caesar Salad and the Meza Plate for two, and it was quite filling even though they are both appetizers. The main entrees looks very good, but they are pricey for sure. Great atmosphere, feels like a really trendy spot. All tables were full and we had trouble getting a reservation even a week in advance.

Fish n’ chips as seen on Bobby Flay

By hrobinson1114 |

I stopped in during their Saturday brunch period. I was torn between the fish n’ chips or the burger. I’m not a fish n’ chips fan, but had to try it because the restaurant chef (who was on site that day) had been on Beat Bobby Flay with his recipe. If you’re a fish n’ chips person, you gotta try this! The filet was huge and crispy, served with the usual tartar sauce and malt vinegar as well as slaw. Fries hot and crispy. Again, I’m not a fish n’ chips person, so once was enough for me, but I like to try special things or things a restaurant is known for—if you’re into this kind of thing, it rapt is great! I had a couple cocktails—the peaches cocktail and the desert flower. Both refreshing and not too sweet or sugary. They have multiple cocktails of many varieties available. Again, I had the brunch menu, but the dinner menu has a few more large entrees on it. The burger is still there, but they add some decadent pasta dishes, steak cuts, and duck/chicken. Cooper was my server and he did a great job. Despite being sat with a 16 top, about 50 percent children and infants, he never neglected me and always made sure I had full water glass and a new cocktail.

Award Winning Fish and Chips

By Dblue40 |

Stopped by The Dearborn while in town on business with two colleagues. The waitress said that their fish and chips were award winning, as with most restaurants that state that I inquired what award they had won and she stated that their chef won against Bobby Flay. Two of us got the fish and chips and it was definitely good. It was not oily at all and the batter was light. The other person with us got the curry chicken BLT and said it was also very good. The wait staff was pleasant and timely.

Farm to table cozy comfort food

By Simbet |

We ate at the Dearborn for dinner on a Friday night while we were in town. We picked the Dearborn based on Tripadvisor reviews and because we could walk there easily from our hotel. We arrived early for our 7:15 reservation but were starving so ordered the burrata and beets at the bar along with two tasty cocktails. When we got our table, we had the prosciutto and fried egg pizza and the chicken with gnocchi and mushrooms. For dessert, we split banana-toffee fried ice cream. If that sounds like a ton of food for two people given the generous portions, it was! Everything was delicious in a comfort-food-meets-farm-to-table kind of way. The pizza was a bit of a salt bomb, but on the other hand there was a ton of prosciutto and cheese on it, so what do you expect. The only thing that was a little…average?... was the fried ice cream, which was frozen rock hard so was a challenge to eat. The extra addition of a giant fried caramelly half banana alongside the giant ball of ice cream provided visual entertainment. Ambiance was upmarket cozy British pub, which we really liked. All in all, we really enjoyed our meal at the Dearborn, and we would definitely return and recommend!

Comfortable and Classy

By jpnlaw11 |

Welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, delicious food. You feel a welcoming ambience from the time you walk in the door. Great downtown spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Fantastic!

By Mark F |

The Dearborn is a place I will always go back to when in Chicago. I have been there twice and both times they have exceeded my expectations. This last time my wife and I sat at the bar and had the Carrots and Labneh, which was exquisite, as well as the Parmesan Truffle Fries, which I highly recommend. We enjoyed a delicious Krombacher Pilsner and the best Espresso Martini that I have ever tasted! We would like to shout out to our charming Irish bartender for this. I am sorry we did not get your name: A.M. Anne-Marie? Unfortunately, I am unable to upload a photo which we took of this work of art.

Lunch in Dearborn

By Χρήστος |

There was a suggestion as a good place to visit. We visied it with a friend and family. Visit outlines: Nice Atmosphere, Good Service, Delicious Food, Tasteful Wine

Gotta love consistency!

By The_Indy_Traveler |

I always want to try a new place every time I go to Chicago because the place is the food capital to me. The Dearborn is the only place I've returned to in the city. That says a lot. Consistent energy from the 1st visit. Tasty food, cool unique atmosphere, slappin music and yes even the same polite blan staff! LOL. Breakfast was simple and good. Portions are worth the price and I definitely had to get my Midwest chicken to go. I had the mocktail, Don't page me. It was good. Didn't expect to enjoy without alcohol as much as I did. Great choice if you're not going to drink that early. My husband loved the vibe and food as well. We were mesmerized watching the bartender at work. A true mixologist or certainly well trained. I wanted to go back in the evening for dinner but we gave another place a spin. I will be back AGAIN.

Wonderful evening at The Dearborn!

By EnjoyMyReviews |

First time for dinner. Great spot. Friendly service. Owner came by to check in. The salmon was excellent. Burrata also very good. We also had the highly acclaimed fish and chips. It did not disappoint. Fairly priced. Nice atmosphere. Will definitely return.

Having lunch at The Dearborn in Chicago

By Luna C |

Having lunch at The Dearborn in Chicago was just excellent! The food was delicious, the staff was very kind, and the atmosphere was warm and comfortable. They have several options on the menu, such as burgers and sandwiches, but also vegan and vegetarian dishes. We found the prices reasonable for Chicago.

Average

By Mike X |

The fish and chips were definitely the highlight paired with the Japanese curry. The meze plate was also a great appetizer. The burger Wellington and the Midwest fried chicken were average. Chicken was a little dry and the sauces weren't memorable. Brussels sprouts were good but a bit bitter. Service could have been more attentive as there were long stretches of time where our server wasn't around. Overall pretty average for the price and location

Even at the bar, worth the money

By Beavextex |

We came at about 3:00 on a Sunday afternoon, thinking we wouldn’t need a reservation. Wrong! The hosts offered the option of sitting at the bar, and after a few minutes someone relinquished their seats. Glad it worked out because the bartender service, food, and drinks were excellent. I did miss the tofu salad they used to have on the menu - please, more meatless options! - but the mixed green salad was very good and the fish & chips were fantastic.

Beyond our expectations

By Len L |

Planning a brunch/lunch on our long weekend in the area, including this meal with a close friend on a "meet-up", we hoped that this eatery would be special. It really was. I reserved a booth weeks ahead and we were given a great space in which we enjoyed a two-hour "chat, chew, etc.". The bar/bartender provided choice beverages. The very interesting items on the limited menu were prepared in creative and outstanding fashion. Nikolai, our server, was tops all the way throughout our meal. Unique items included the Parkerhouse rolls, my Caesar salad with primo white Spanish anchovies and our double-order of shared cream cheese carrot cake for dessert (double yum). A bit expensive - yes. Worth it - without question. Highly recommended. NOTE: Brunch served on Saturday & Sunday. Reservations are highly recommended to avoid a long wait.

A bit overpriced.

By fitnesstraveler |

Great location is my first comment. Perfect for an after theater meal. I feel it has a limited menu and a bit over priced. Servers were all excellent and very knowledgeable with how the food was prepared. I am not sure I would go again.

Extra crispy chicken.

By Rob M |

Ordered the fish and chips, which was good. However, the bottom appeared a little soggy. Supposedly, it beat Bobby Flay. The chicken maple mustard glazed with homemade hot sauce was fantastic. No side came with this. The total price was around $60.

I would highly recommend

By Stu |

It was very busy but we got a great table and our server Grainne was fantastic who made the experience even better. Food and drink were amazing and we had a great time.

The best food I’ve ever had in the US

By FarAway141506 |

The Dearborn just happened to be super close to my hotel and I’m just so grateful! After many trips to so many US cities I’ve finally real food, cooked well with real flavour. I cannot over estimate the quality of this restaurant, the service or the atmosphere. The smoked vanilla bean ice cream OMG AMAZING

A Bit Pricey But Good

By JoeBenevides |

The waiter was very nice and the food was good, but for what we ordered, a home-made style pizza and a burger, it was a bit pricey.

Dearborn for Dinner

By Bill T |

This is our favorite pre-theatre dinner spot. So when we had tickets to the Lyric this was where we went and we were not disappointed. Great martinis. A delicious Meze plate (white bean hummus, tabbouleh, fattoush salad, tzatziki, and house made pita bread) and a delightful fish & chips complete with French fries. We recommend it for fast, friendly service, reasonable prices, and great food.

Attentive waitstaff and amazing halibut!

By CHILL617 |

Fantastic restaurant. I ate at the bar. Very attentive waitstaff. I had the halibut that was cooked to perfection. I also had the meze plate as an appetizer which was fantastic too. I will return here when J visit Chicago again.

Fantastic all-around!

By PalmSpringsCA |

What a nice, trendy little type of spot in Chicago. It was perfect for a late brunch/lunch on a recent Sunday. Definitely a bustling place, so my guess is, get a reservation!!! Food choices are diverse and it was hard to make a selection. All the food coming by looked fantastically plated. We had shrimp and grits and a burger and salad and both looked fantastically and tasted just as good! Service was top-notch, good music/band playing while we were there. What a nice spot to hit whether you live in the city or are visiting! I will definitely be back and tell many friends!

Great pre-show meal!

By MikeDailey |

We stopped by here before going to Christmas Carol at the Goodman. Didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table in the bar by just hanging out for a bit. Service was very good and I had a burger which was really nice. The kids menu is actually really reasonably priced. My burger/fries was around $16, which is pretty normal for the Loop. Atmosphere was great, I really liked the design of the place. Cocktails were above average, though didn't blow me away. I'll certainly come back for a pre-theatre meal and/or drink in the future.

Fantastic for lunch

By Hawaii_traveler200 |

We had a memorable lunch that featured the best ceviche I’ve ever had and the fish and chips that beat Bobby Flay. We sat outside and had great service. Outstanding experience.

A Chic and Cozy Dining Experience at The Dearborn, Chicago

By Defne Ertuna |

Located in the heart of Chicago, The Dearborn offers a stylish yet cozy dining experience that’s perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The restaurant’s interior blends modern elegance with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for a variety of dining experiences, from business lunches to intimate dinners. Service was attentive and friendly, with the staff making sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The pace of the evening was relaxed, allowing us to enjoy the food and drinks without feeling rushed.

Reliable; hidden fee obnoxious

By L H |

Nice place with high ceilings, a cool vibe, good food and service, generous portions. The croquettes are rich and tasty, French-style halibut preparation (stewed in a skillet) is interesting and delicious. The tacked-on 3.25% "operational fee" is very much not appreciated.

Food and atmosphere on point!

By The_Indy_Traveler |

This place is definitely a vibe. Very unique can't quite put my finger on it. The food was awesome. Awesome! Like made me dance in my seat after a bite awesome. Good portions. We shared each dish. I find the pricing typical for this kind of Chicago restaurant. I honestly thought it was just a place to get full but no I haven't enjoyed a meal like that in awhile. I want to go back and try more. Well crafted cocktails. Way too much ice for the price. Felt like I took 2 sips and it was gone. The staff was blan but very polite. The manager stopped by to check on us. Made us feel more welcomed. The music was a surprise good mix. I had a great time.

Our "Go To" Restaurant

By ChgoLvr2 |

The Dearborn is very much a "go to" restaurant for my husband and I, whether it's for a working lunch, getting together with friends after work or meeting family before a theater performance. We have also enjoyed special dinners there too. Some of my favorites are the shrimp and grits with a side of Brussels sprouts and my husband very much enjoys the burger. The prosciutto & fried egg pizza looked delicious, but I don't think they have a gluten free crust option. It is always nice to see Amy and Clodagh greeting guests and stopping by to talk with their customers. Keep up the great work!

Excellent food and service

By roger t |

Amazing food large portions and super friendly staff. The Brussel sprouts are amazing and a huge portion everything was delicious will definitely be back in the future.

Good food and service

By Andy P |

This was a busy restaurant but we were seated promptly and the service was very attentive. We had a high table looking out to the street which was nice. We had the fish and chips which were outstanding and the Dearborn burger which was delicious. We shared a chocolate cake which tasted amazing. Would recommend everything.

Great ambiance and staff!

Great ambiance and staff! Sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive and the food came out quickly and was very good. Place is lively and very friendly. Will define go back for lunch.

Great food and value

Random drop in but well worth it. Had the BLT, which came on crust brewed draped with egg, bacon, tomato and lettuce. Came with excellent fries and side salad. Tremendous vale at $17 and filling. Came back after Cubs game for a beer.

Fantastic

We had dinner here and it was great. The food was delicious. The manager served my husband a drink of the day and he enjoyed it. This was the nicest, friendlist place with great service and wonderful food.

Outrageously Good!

By Anthony G |

If you're visiting Chi-Town, then don't leave without coming here. First thing- ask for Vanessa! Vanessa was more than a waitress, she was a guide! She is Dearborn's number 1 fan and everything she recommended was a hit! She's energetic and very sweet! Every thing she recommended was 100% on point!!! Fried- Chicken- which is on the appetizer portion of the menu- was amazing! Hot and sweet! Definitely unique and tender. It's pretty filling this plate so we had it as a entree. Fish and chips- A must have when you go. It's a popular item and I see why now. CRAZY GOOD! Creme Brûlée- we weren't planning on having dessert- but Vanessa convinced us. No regrets! DELICIOUS!!! A definite plus is that all their food is locally grown. Ambiance is certainly for business meeting, date night or hangout! The vibe here hits all occasions.

Favorite meal of our trip

By Edie S |

We had lunch at the Dearborn on a recent Friday afternoon. It was our first stop when we arrived in Chicago for the weekend, and I regret that we didn't get a chance to go back and try more of the menu. It was mid-afternoon when we arrived. We were seated immediately. It was a really cool space, and service was excellent. It's a nice, upscale restaurant and yet casual enough to drop in for lunch with family/teens. I had the mushroom grilled cheese, which was very good, but it was my companion's truffle-parm fries that have preyed on my mind. They were amazing (much better than the ones we had later at another establishment). I will definitely be back to get my own order if I ever have the chance!

Amazing experience, great food and atmosphere Alaska halibut Provençal is very rich in flavors and colors. Would definitely go again!

Great lunch spot

By Kimmo K |

Had a business lunch during a conference. Efficient service, nice staff. The Caesar salad had a tad too much of anchovy in it but the meals others in the company had were well-received. Overall, no big complaints.

Fish n Chips!

By yesmate |

Really a nicely decorated restaurant. Original seat was a bit awkward so asked to move to a booth which we were accommodated. (Thanks staff). Order a salad and fish and chips. Coming from England, it’s been hard to find fish and chips close to being as good as back home but these fish and chips were pretty good. Probably the best I’ve had in the USA. Caesar salad was good too. Our server Makayla was super friendly and helpful. Overall a good dining experience.

Lovely setting, good food.

By BenjaminRVA |

Good food and drinks. Server was great. Seasoning was a little off on the burger, but the curry was excellent, portions were solid, and the atmosphere was really lovely. Enjoyable evening. Might help to have a GF menu.

Mid-Afternoon Happy Hour

By kristinalisan |

Our hotel concierge recommended the Dearborn for their fabulous bar, and he was right. We stopped in mid-afternoon on New Years' Eve for a glass of wine and the very unique macaroni and cheese. Our server was delightful and took a great photo for us. They served gorgeous gin concoctions as well, and if I had not started with wine I would have had to have one. We didn't visit that many, but this was our favorite bar of the trip.

Lovely classy bar/restaurant in the heart of the theatre district.

By FOXYSKI |

Loved this bar/Restaurant went there twice, once for drinks and snacks and once just for drinks. They’ve got a fab menu, excellent service, thanks Jurien. Super friendly staff and lovely that the owner popped by too. Took a recommendation to eat at The Gage too, which was also fab. Would definitely visit and eat here again in Chicago.

Excellent service and food

By Tamsin F |

Wonderful experience. There is a lovely cosy and warm ambience to this venue. The service was attentive and perfectly managed, not too fast and not too slow. The food was delicious with a good selection to choose from.

We can always count on it

By Norris A |

It's reliably good and a splendid time is guaranteed for all. Luckily we had a dinner there before Chicago went into lockdown in March 2020. A Friday night at 8 pm so the joint was, as usual, jumping. It's a modern bar/restaurant which means hard floors, high ceilings and huge glass windows. Add 100 people with clinking glasses and TGIF spirits and animated conversation and you have a LOUD restaurant. Regardless we ask for a "quiet table" (LOL) away from the bar. Well our request was met tonight and we found ourselves in a previously unvisited corridor at the foot of the stairs to their Private Dining space (which has it's own bar if you have a really large party-24 seats). Luckily no one had booked it that night so our little booth tucked away back there was about as quiet as we have experienced in this lively spot. We could talk and hear each other. Tony would be our waiter tonight and represented the brand as well as the other waiters who have served us over the past few years there. We see the same waiter faces so they must be happy working at the Dearborn. That speaks well of the Management. A pint of draught Guinness ($8) and a Windmill Ginger Brew ($6) came to wash down their addictive Cheddar Chive Milk Bread, warm from the oven with herbed butter for spreading. Our appetizer, one we haven't tried before, but will again was the charcuterie platter for sharing ($18). It comes on a wooden cutting board. It's a lot of good food. The menu spoke of country pate (I'm so there!), chicken liver mousse and "traditional accompaniments which included two kinds of mustard (loved the grainy one) nuts, grapes, daikon and cucumber. A great selection of flavor bombs. The menu says their Fish and Chips "beat Bobby Flay" and I often have that here but tonight was in a burger state of mind. $16 with a $2 uncharge for two massive thick slices of bacon hanging out the sides of a Brioche bun that held up under the onslaught of my gnashing teeth. Flavorful hand -formed burger with Wisconsin cheddar, bibb lettuce and some tangy crunchy pickle. I made a good choice-cooked medium, nice and juicy! Madame loves their fried chicken ($17) but asks for the honey on the side. The only words out of her mouth during her attack are "Oh, so gooood". She smacks her lips. Dessert? We are stuffed but...."what do you have?" She choose a Banoffee trifle to share- butter cake, coffee mousse, caramel and sliced bananas ($9) Scrumptious! I also had a double espresso ($5) and a Sambuca. Another very satisfying meal at the Dearborn. Faultless, unstuffy service. $110 spend before tip. Once Covid 19 says it's safe to venture out to a restaurant we will hit up the Dearborn! They have live music on weekends, if you're asking. It's in the theater district and a great stop after a show!

excellent dinner at The Dearborn

By Marilyn M |

While I was at a professional conference in Chicago, I had dinner at The Dearborn with a colleague. Both of us had the FISH & CHIPS *AS SEEN ON BEAT BOBBY FLAY* (which was *outstanding* and which I would highly recommend). We shared a Caesar salad. The service was superb, and I especially appreciated the professionalism of the staff at The Dearborn after having lunch at another Chicago restaurant a couple days later where the host was shockingly unprofessional. (My only suggestions: I thought the Caesar salad and the cole slaw were more on the sweet side than I care for. But I see other people who have reviewed these food items really like them.)

Perfect place for lunch or dinner

Super nice ambience and relaxed atmosphere. Delicious food, fair portions. Fish and chips are highly recommended. Very friendly staff.

Love the profiteroles

By Taylor B |

Sisters and proprietors Amy and Clodagh Lawless and executive chef Aaron Cuschieri opened The Dearborn in 2016. Since then, it has become one of the most cheerful, relaxing and refreshing restaurants in Chicago's Loop. Located at 145 North Dearborn Street, it is a popular destination for shoppers. Open from 11 to 10 Monday through Friday and 10 to 10 on Saturday and Sunday, it is one of few restaurants that offers profiteroles on its dessert menu. That, in itself, is a reason for me to stop by for lunch. For anyone who enjoys tiramisu but likes a change of pace once in a while, profiteroles is the answer. I started with Parker House rolls with Nordic creamy Wisconsin butter, sea salt and chives and a bowl of spicy chicken and mushroom soup with chicken broth, sesame, Napa cabbage, pulled chicken, bacon, mushrooms and scallions. For my entree, I chose fish and chips with tempura-battered Icelandic cod, rainbow slaw, remoulade, malt vinegar and charred lemon. With fries. Finally, the main event. Profiteroles with vanilla bean gelato, chocolate sauce, raspberries, candied pistachio and choux pastry with a crunchy top. Best tasting profiteroles I've ever had.

Theater Dining Excellence

By Lawrence L |

Post-Hamilton dinner. Terrific vibe, excellent and varied menu. Fish & Chips ; Midwest Salad highly recommended. Super friendly, efficient staff.

Perfect location for theater venues

By Lynda G |

This neat spot is around the corner from several theaters: Goodman, Chicago Theater, etc. It’s packed early so definitely get a reservation. A bit noisy but if you get a nice big booth further into the space, it’s terrific. Service is knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Caesar salad can practically be split 4 ways with a nice taste for each. Fish & chips, burger and Amish chicken are all very good. The pizza is a great deal-thin crust and very good. . Wine list is sparse especially if you drink Chardonnay-they offer 1 by the glass (6 oz) at $24. Maybe I’m not used to the big city but that seems pretty pricey: the cosmo was $19 and very average, whereas the Prosecco was very good.

Very good but expensive

By Robert L |

We had lunch here, quite busy. The menu had many tempting options. We had a grilled pear and cheese sandwich and a chicken curry sandwich. Both were delicious and came with a ton of fries. Way too much food but quite delicious. We should have shared something.

The best place in Chicago

By Kim W |

We spent 5 days in Chicago and visited The Dearborn three times as it was just the best place in the area for us. We were very well looked after by Brian and Jose who could not have been more attentive. The birthday dessert for my husband was very much appreciated. The atmosphere here was vibrant and just perfect for our trip.

Probably the best all around diverse eat within the loop

By Travelfunandenjoy |

Retired restaurant, owners, and friends who live in Chicago recommended this restaurant, and it was outstanding, we were lucky to have as our server, Whitney Martinez, who was full of knowledge and recommended their fish and chips, one of their signature items, and we were lucky, chef Aaron Cus Chieri Was running the kitchen that night and had actually beaten Bobby Faye on that very dish, and the fish and chips rocked!!!!! lastly, I always like to inspect the bathrooms, and the male bathrooms were clean and modern

Expensive and underwhelming

By mojitomargarita |

This place overcharges and underdelivers. Wine pours are chintzy. Menu slides right past veggie-unfriendly and into veggie-hostile. Service is lackluster. It is resting on being the only upscale bar in the immediate vicinity; hopefully, it will get some competition and have to up its game.

Go there for any reason and you will have a good time!

By Manasvi K |

Wonderful restaurant! Wonderful Ambience! Great Food. Great vibe. Find any reason to go, date night, with friends or family, solo traveling and you will have a good time either way. The service was fast, the food is delicious. I had fried chicken sandwich on sourdough bread and I could not get over the softness of that bread. There is an outdoors and an indoor, so you can choose where to be seated depending on weather. There is also a fancy bar area which would be fun to dine at during night time. Honestly, try it out, you will see what I am talking about! I look forward to going back!

Excellent food!

By tsnordstrom |

Although everyone mentions Bobby Flay, we simply selected this restaurant due to proximity and overall reviews, We did not eat the fish and chips, although it did look very good. We ate here twice during our visit to Chicago because the menu was great, everything we ordered was delicious, the staff delightful! Sunday brunch featured a musical trio who were fantastic. Highly recommend.

Love It!

By TryitAllCA |

We had lunch as a group at the Dearborn during a recent business trip, and had a really enjoyable visit. The management team are all so friendly, and the service was on point. They had a diverse food menu, with a little something for everyone. The ambiance is inviting, and I would strongly recommend!

Can’t believe we haven’t been before!

By Amile-N-Andrea |

I can’t believe we haven’t been there before! We live only a few blocks away and always pass it in our way to the movies next door. So glad we finally came in! Great food, well presented and generous. We had 2 appetizers - the Buffalo Sweetbreads & the Duck Confit, and shared the main course - the Porcelet w/ French cheese dip (and a side order of mash). Everything was delicious! The cherry on the cake was not the Brown butter & Pecan ice cream dessert, but the impeccable service offered by the very friendly and knowledgeable Josh, who even found the perfect cocktail to suit my rather picky preferences. We will be back and highly recommended it!

Excellent Experience

By Amanda T |

Excellent food and nice atmosphere. We didn’t have a reservation, but they were able to seat us! Incredibly friendly and helpful service. Felt underdressed in a hoodie, so I’d recommend dressing business casual. Loved the fish!! Delish!!

Anniversary Lunch!

By Andy M |

We stopped in for lunch on our 1 year anniversary and had an amazing lunch. There was live music and they were remarkably good as I often find live music distracting or too loud to have a good conversation. Our server, Nikolai was an absolute dream! He was great, we both had shrimp and grits and because it was our anniversary they gave us a free dessert (gelato that was excellent)!

Nice Meal, Great Service

By Walter O |

Had dinner reservations for 3 on Thursday and Pedro did a great job taking care of our table. He was efficient and pleasant. Food was very good (steak, salad, sorbet, etc. Easy walk from most loop hotels.

Fabulous Spot

By JMMcE |

Chosen for its location - heading to Hamilton at the Nederlande Theatre – three of us ate at the nearby Dearborn Restaurant without any great expectations for our meal. But, what a fantastic restaurant – I noted later it was 30 out of 4,400 Chicago eateries and on our experience a placing that is fully deserved. The portends were good as we entered – great looking interior packed with people and a great “buzz”. Starters were fabulous, particularly the steak tartare with bone marrow, served with pickles and bone marrow sauce. The prosciutto and white cheddar croquettes were equally delicious as was the fresh and tangy cod, prawn and salmon ceviche. For mains, I chose a tasty Burger Wellington. My only issue was that I chose it and not my wife’s Filet Mignon – it was a beautiful piece of meat and when dipped in the accompanying gravy was one of the nicest bites of steak I have ever tasted. A great restaurant and I highly recommend it.

The Dearborn is a great dining experience!

By Sandra H |

First class food with exceptional service enjoyed by all the family. Offers perfect mix of cozy ambiance and seriously good food. The fish and chips is a must but honestly everything we had was delicious particularly the Midwest fried chicken and Parker House Rolls . It’s a must for anyone visiting Chicago.

Great vibe, but the food was just ok.

By Robsaga |

Went here on my last night in Chicago. Had dinner with my cousin and it was recommended by his friend. A couple of great glasses of Pinot from Delta North Coast, CA at the bar. Then got sat at our table. This restaurant is know for their Fish and Chips (it was on the Bobby Flay challenge on the Food Network). Decided to get something else. Ordered the bone marrow, it was delicious! Fatty goodness on toast! For my main, I had the honey glazed fried chicken. Well, they could've eased back from the honey glaze. It just seem too much and too sweet. I like my fried chicken a little savory. Also, it seemed to have too much of a coating on it. I should've gone with my first instinct and ate the Fish and Chips. Overall the meal was decent. finished off my meal with a glass of Malbec Alpataco from Argentinian, along with some creme brulee.

Great place, excellent food. Service is outstanding.

By Balthazar |

Great place to go and have lunch. Very beautiful restaurant, the decor has a lot of character. Service is excellent and food is very good. My wife and I were delighted to enjoy the food here. Very good experience. We didn’t have reservations, we were walking to Michigan Ave and decided to give this place a try. We were not disappointed. Appetizers were fantastic and the entrees were very good. Great service. The Dearborn won’t disappoint you.

Great experience!

By Amanda G |

Amazing! Service was great (Victor) and food was perfect. My husband had the traditional fish & chips (fish was light and flaky and not overly greasy). I had the Carnitas & Baguette and an Espressotini. The menu changes based on the chef’s choices, but I highly recommend checking it out. The manager even came by and offered a bowl of water for our service dog. We will be back on future business trips!

Mixed Feelings: Tasty Food, Poor Service

By vjz1115 |

I have such mixed feelings about a recent dinner at The Dearborn. I reserved a couple weeks ahead of time for a quick overnight in Chicago and was glad for the reservation as the restaurant was packed. The first minor disappointment was being seated in a back hallway where there were two large booths. While I suppose in the Covid era it was good to be in a quiet, non-crowded area, the place had an upbeat vibe and some cool spaces so we missed out on that in our sleepy corner which was out of sight and out of mind. After being seated we waited 10 minutes for anyone to come to the table. Eventually someone who looked like management walked by and asked how things were. We let them know we had been waiting awhile and he apologized and took our drink and appetizer order. Again, we waited. An icy server did come by and brought our drinks and apps (seasonal salad and mezze…both delicious!). For mains we went with the daily steak and chimichui, which was outstanding, and a pizza, which was beyond disappointing. Given the menu selection and the overall esthetic of the restaurant we expected an artisan or elevated pizza for $25; we didn’t expect it to be large but did expect it to be good. What came was something that looked like a frozen pizza on a silver baking tray. Big let down. We even had to ask for plates so that my partner didn’t have to eat off a pizza pan. Overall the food, minus the sad pizza, was a solid A. The space, minus the desolate booth, gets an A also. The service was just lacking all around: C. For a busy restaurant with lots of staff moving around, it’s surprising that our table (and what seemed our adjacent booth-mates) was no neglected.

Better than anything in Michigan City.

By steve g |

We were told there would be a 20-30 minute wait. No problem. We had just been out walking in the cold rain and we were wet, cold, and tired, so we found a corner to sit down and wait. And we got out our phones and waited and time escaped us and then the lady came over and asked if we were waiting for a table. She said she texted us a while ago and sure enough. I just had unknown numbers blocked. I was grateful of their attentiveness. We were seated one foot from guests on either side…so I guess covid isn’t a thing anymore. Didn’t bother me but felt a little too intimate. Food was really good. I wasn’t feeling great so I just had the rolls. Holy camoley those things are unbelievable. Wife had whitefish. She loved it. And the Cesar salad I’m told was incredible.

Great Restaurant

By Shelton5765 |

This is a beautiful restaurant. It is centrally located in a good neighborhood in downtown Chicago. It is a few blocks from the river and the lake. The food is excellent. You can choose from a variety of menu options. i tried the fish and chips that "Beat Bobby Flay". They were very good. The Fruits De Mere was outstanding. The Ceviche was wonderful.

Unique luncheon treats in a unique urban atmosphere

By Taylor B |

When was the last time you sortied from the Magnificent Mile, crossed the Michigan Avenue Bridge and recalled what it was like to walk along State Street, that Great Street. Remember when it was the city's shopping mecca in the 1950s and 1960s, before Marshall Field's turned to Macey's, before anyone heard about Water Tower Place? On your next shopping trip to downtown Chicago, be sure to stop at The Dearborn for lunch. Located at 145 North Dearborn, at the southeast corner of Dearborn and Randolph, in Block 37, in the heart of Chicago's Loop, it affords a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the theaters, museums and shops. Established in 2016 by sisters Amy and Clodagh Lawless, with the culinary touch of executive chef Aaron Cuchieri and pastry chef Julianna Westgor, it is open from 11 to 9:30 Monday through Thursday, 11 to 11 on Friday, 10 to 11 on Saturday and 10 to 9 on Sunday. The dining room oozes with the spirit of a Chicago tavern with murals, leather booths and memorabilia inspired by Chicago's past. Oh, the food? Hey, that's why we're here. It came highly recommended. We started with chicken and kale soup topped with parmesan cheese, Midwest fried chicken with maple mustard glaze and home-made hot sauce with dill pickles and Parker House rolls with bousin-cream cheese spread. Especially good for relaxing and people-watching. For a main dish, my wife ordered a corned beef Reuben sandwich with a special sauce, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut on maple rye bread. I couldn't resist The Burger, a house specialty with Catalpa Grove beef, Wisconsin cheddar cheese, that special sauce, dill pickles, bibb lettuce, caramelized onions and Baker's bacon on a brioche bun. Two hands full. And delicious. Desserts are special, too. We shared Chef Julianna's ice cream sandwiches with triple chocolate chip cookies and a slice of mini-blueberry-ginger hand pie. But the caramelized white chocolate coconut cake and the chocolate and peanut butter tart looked very tempting. A day of shopping never tasted so good.

All right.

By Manou |

Very classy and rightly so. The menu offers a wide selection of reasonably priced Chicago dishes. Count around 30€ for a dish and less for the burger. Very good service and nice decor.

Best Lunch Ever

By Michael F |

Stopped in before a Saturday matinee and was pleasantly surprised with a great meal: -- the best chicken-vegetable soup you're likely to find anywhere -- a great sandwich with avocado, fried egg and bacon on toasted bread. The bread alone was super. -- a tremendous salad called the Protein Bowl, which sounds boring but was anything but Service was efficient, professional and courteous.

Excellent Place in the Windy City

By COTraveller33 |

Made two reservations on 19 April - 10 people at 7 pm and 5 at 8 pm. We didn't make the 7pm, and when we arrived for the 8pm -- they said they never had the 7pm. Glad we were late, and they were accomidating. Great place. Perfect Service. Excellent Food. Solid beer selection. This made our "Team Dinner" with people from all over the U.S. that much better. I ordered the Fish & Chips (per diem does that) - and my cod was cooked perfectly, decent batter and a robust filet for the fish. All in all - everyone loved their meals. Food: Excellent. Limited, but good menu. Service: Attentive and friendly Bathrooms: Clean Ambiance: Lively Would recommend: Yes! Would re-patronize: Definitely the next time I'm in Chicago

Good

By Laura Z |

Welcome to an American tavern boasting a diverse menu of delectable dishes. Prepare to be impressed by the exceptional array of appetizers! Our personal favorite was the Duck Rillette served with crisp toast. While the burger and traditional Icelandic cod were undeniably delicious, they didn't quite reach the heights of extraordinary flavors. The non-alcoholic beverages, on the other hand, erred on the side of being a tad too sweet. As for dessert, the apricot sorbet was delightful, although it proved to be a bit too much to conquer after the generously portioned meal. From a pricing perspective, we find it to be quite reasonable. It would be great if the service could be a touch swifter, but all in all, our experience was predominantly positive.

Great food. Great atmosphere

By DerekPower |

Wonderful food in a nicely set up restaurant. The fish and chips were good but the chicken was amazing. It’s a must try. Parker house rolls with the chive butter is a must try as well.

Phenomenal

By GustinB |

We were not impressed by any of the restaurants in Chicago. Basically a big yawn until we stopped here. This was amazing and interesting. Adventuresome dishes and great combinations! Big time win and a must do on a return trip. I was impressed. We all were!

Great food, service, and atmosphere!

By Anna T |

Not only is the food and service great, the vibe of The Dearborn is perfect. Great cocktails AND mocktails! I'll definitely be coming back each time I'm in Chicago.

Great Place to Grab a Bite

By Dave D |

We stopped in after walking around the city for a while and had a quick bite to eat. My wife ordered their Everything Parker House rolls, while I ordered a pepperoni pizza and we split the fries. Everything was delicious and the staff was super friendly and helpful!

Large portions and great staff

By kanaehall |

My friend and I had a great lunch here. Both the pancakes and the fish & chips were delicious. The portions and prices were good considering the location in Chicago. I would highly recommend this place, the staff were super nice!

great lunch!

By Sandra H |

We loved our fish and chips - best we have had in years. Great service and nice pace to our meal. My husband had a honey puff (?) dessert, which he also enjoyed. Tea was served in an unusual but effective teapot.

Good drinks

By AnniK_K |

We came here for drinks and those were very good, as was the service. We didn't eat anything, but the food looked great, so we will have to come back and try it.

Best meal of the weekend

By Kathy H |

The food was fantastic! Had the Mediterranean appetizer plate. It was amazing - the eggplant mousse was really good. And the spice on the Naan was unusual, but a great compliment to all of the items on the plate. Would definitely go here again

Very good food, large portion sizes

By Dino P |

My experience here was good. I ordered the Beat Bobby Flay Fish And Chips with the parmesan truffle fries and my mom ordered the Roasted Pear Grilled Cheese with a salad. The food was great. Everything was delicious, and the parmesan truffle fries were out of this world. The only thing that we had an issue with was that the portion sizes were ginormous. I think that 2 people could share the fish and chips with that size. It is not a big problem, but something that I think should be stated. But it was amazing, with friendly staff and good food. I would come back.

Sadly, lacking somehow

By MaryAnn H |

We wanted to check out a new (to us) place, so we took the Metra train in to The Dearborn (I'm from Woodstock, my friend from Jefferson Park.) We aren't sorry we tried it, but it was definitely a one off. It's a very large place and there appers to be lots of staff, but I think that was deceptive - everyone seemed rushed and harried. The pepper grinder was empty and it took 10 minutes to replace..we finally went to a just vacated table and took that one. Prices are high for the value- $9 for a mock-tail..$15 for a glass of wine - and not a particularly high end winery. The ceviche was lacking something, so my friend asked for hot sauce to add, which they charged us for!! The Blueberry waffle benedict was interesting, but a little heavy on the citrus, so a little too tart. Our server, Luke, was personable and I'm sure did his best, but was, in my opinion, stretched too thin. We thought about eating outside (it was a last beautiful warm October day in Chicago) but were glad we decided to eat inside. We were in a booth in the window overlooking the outdoor dining area and it looked like the service was even slower out there. We think if the restaurant were 2 blocks away in any direction from the heart of the theater district, the prices would have been more reasonable, service more timely and value better. It's kitty-corner from Petterino's, where prices are even higher yet somehow it feels as if you're getting more value for your money - that could just be the Lettuce Entertain You quality, service and ambience though.

Grabbed a late lunch. Service

Greasy spot

Sandwiches are so greasy we need a doctor after this stop 🛑. Wnt be going there again . Unless you love greasely food and want to see a doctor fast

Good food and drinks

By msinger2018 |

Sat at the bar and bartender was great. Drinks were made well and had the fish n chips that beat Bobby Flay. Amazing. Will go again on return trip.

Great, lively spot with good food

By Gregsky |

My wife and I went here for lunch during a recent visit to Chicago. Service (Ting A) was fast and friendly. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. I had the (huge) buffalo chicken sandwich and my wife had the curry chicken salad on a pita. Both were delicious and the sandwich came with a TON of fries. I could not finish everything. Cost with a soft drink, mocktail, and salad upgrade was $66 with taxes, not including the tip.

Service was exceptional, food was top notch! We are from Louisiana and had the fried chicken and it is the best we have ever had! Michael was our waiter and he is magnificent!

Great for before theatre. Service was excellent wide menu choices, excellent prepared and presented.

Unexpected excellent pleasant restaurant. Excellent food and great service, good selection on menu. Time well spent.

Fresh and Inviting

By Barry T |

There's nothing like "coming home" when you find a "go to" reliable dining spot - prior to a matinee in the Theatre District, there really is no better choice for lunch and a glass of wine (or a cocktail) - high quality ingredients, a talented chef, committed family ownership and exceptional service rounds out a most satisfying experience. Whether it's award winning fish and chips or a fresh market salad - and try the fried chicken in the appetizer list - nothing but winners on a menu that should allow most diners to find a new (or old) favorite. You won't be disappointed.

Delicious

I went twice. Both times when I walked in and sat at the bar I was asked what I wanted to drink and handed a menu. The bartender came back and just says “do you know what you want”. This happened both times with different bartenders. They weren’t rude but definitely not friendly. No going over anything in the menu. As far as the food goes, it was fantastic. Had a filet the first night. The au jus was unreal. Second night I had a burger. Very good also!

Curry chicken blt for the win

By Jenn M |

Curry chicken blt was amazing! The restaurant had a good vibe and the wait staff were friendly. We went during lunch when it was still slow so maybe that made a difference.

Great gastropub/tavern just off the river

By Rdennisjr |

Great vibe, beautiful venue, wide variety of drinks and food, great service and fantastic location. What’s not to love!

Great find

By Julie R |

Service was initially slow but once order was taken the food arrived quickly. Food (although a little pricey) was excellent, well presented, nicely cooked and tasty. Loved the atmosphere, great 'buzz' without being too loud. Will definitely go back.

Rich and delicious food

By FStone |

Rich and delicious food. Interesting menu, beyond the usual suspects, some innovative dishes. A burger of course but also a burger Wellington.

Good place with a cool menu

By busybee2775 |

Nice place. Great location. Good drinks. Menu is interesting, as it a combo of an elevated pub food with some upscale American and truffle options. So, lots to choose from. The bone marrow appetizer was delicious. The duck confit was really good. My companions had truffled caccio'e'peppe and a burger and said it was great. The place is busy but service is still attentive. Would def return.

Great dining experience

I can't recommend The Dearborn enough. At first I was a bit skeptical of the seating, as we were seated close to the kitchen and there was a bit of traffic through the area, but in the end it turned out to be no problem. We had plenty of space, and we actually ended up being impressed because we could comfortably see the efficiency of the kitchen from where we sat. This place has it together. The service itself was exceptional; our waiter, Nikola, was super friendly and super informative. Somehow he was always attentive whenever we needed, but never intrusive when we didn't. We ended up opting for fish and chips because of the rave reviews, and I have to say I've never had better. I'm personally not a huge fan of fish, but when I go back to Chicago I'm going to this restaurant just for the Parker House rolls and the fish and chips. Finally, my wife ordered an Irish Coffee as "dessert," and she said it was the best Irish Coffee she'd ever had. All in all this was a great dining experience. We went to a steakhouse the next night, which was excellent, but we agreed that if we'd had it to do over again we would have visited The Dearborn for a second time to check out the other dishes on the menu and see what we missed.

What a great find!!

By tinathetoad70 |

This restaurant was great!! Our server Whitney was great. We got the truffle fries as an appetizer. The cocktails were really good. I had the fish and chips. It was great. My husband had the burger and said it was excellent. The decor is very unique. The only negative I say is the portion on the macaroni and cheese was a bit small for the price. I would go back for sure.

Best Restaurant in Chicago

By PaulaX1213BS |

We had the most amazing meal in this lovely down town restaurant. The food selection was excellent and the standard of food and beverage unrivalled. Each of the three of us enjoyed different starters, main courses and deserts but each dish was exceptional. There was something on the menu to cater for all tastes. The service was superb, very informative but also very friendly and welcoming. I cannot recommend The Dearborn highly enough. It was without doubt the best meal of our trip to Chicago. .

Excellent food and cocktails!

By RWSII |

Excellent food and cocktails! I ate here twice for dinner and the food is outstanding. They do a whole farm to table / locally sourced food thing. The chicken - The Miller Amish specifically is outstanding. Great atmosphere and you can still gave a business conversation. The wine list is also and I’m definitely going to be coming back.

The Dearborn is a fun and lively restaurant. The food is solid. I had a duck breast, a dish many restaurants mess up, and they nailed it. The hamburger Wellington was creative. All in all a solid experience, but is this *really* in the top 1/3 of 1% of all the restaurants in the City of Chicago? I think not. Go here for a solid fun time but I wouldn't expect the fireworks that come with this rating...

Rude, nasty service

By Allie |

Stopped in for lunch on a random Sunday afternoon. We were seated immediately by a very kind hostess and then were ignored for about 10-15 minutes until the sever, Melissa L. stopped by our table. She quickly told us what dishes they were out of, then walked away. We sat for another 15 minutes before she came to take our order. The food came out and was fine, nothing special. We then waited another 20 minutes for her to come back so we could get our check - we finally gave up and went to the bar to find out if we could pay there. Service was rude, condescending and down right nasty. Will never go here again and will steer everyone I know clear of this place.

Delicious Dinner

Ate at the bar as the restaurant was full, able to eat from the full menu. Fabulous service from the bar staff. Burger Wellington was amazing.

Amazing

We had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was perfect, a softness to the industrial decor. Food was decadent, drinks top notch and excellent service!

A sure thing

By HeidiH-L |

We found the Dearborn on TripAdvisor and discovered it was close to our hotel. Unable to find anything after 2:30pm on Open Table, we took a chance at 3:30 on a Saturday. When asked whether we had a reservation, we explained what we’d found on Open Table. Thankfully, they found us a spot. By 4:15 the bar area was full and more were waiting outside, so be warned. The atmosphere was upscale but not at all stuffy. And the service and meal were both outstanding. Sadly we cannot recall our waiter’s name to give him a shout out. Motivated by the decadent dessert menu, we decided to share a bowl of the Squash and Apple soup and an order of the Beat Bobby Flay fish and chips. Holy moly. The soup was creamy smooth and so good. And the fish and chips - with an upgrade to the Parmesan truffle fries - were delish. For dessert our waiter recommended the baked apple in phyllo dough, and the carrot cake. Scrumptious and unique, both of them. We highly recommend the Dearborn and look forward to coming back.

Bryan Fahy and team run a fantastic restaurant. Delicious food, great service and a fun atmosphere. 100% would recommend.

Undercooked, Order Wrong, Waste of Time and Money

By ChgoTraveler68 |

I tried three times to get a table here, each time the wait was 45 minutes. Today I finally ate at the bar. The menu was very limited with few potentially appetizing options. So I ordered the burger, medium, with no "special sauce." Of course it came with sauce anyway, which made the bun soggy and limp, and it tasted bad. In addition, their notion of medium is seriously flawed. The meat was dark pink and cool (probably about 120 degrees). I wouldn't even call it medium rare. It was disgusting. The fries were limp and luke warm. If you like waiting a long time, for the wrong order and horribly undercooked food, this is the place for you.

Their tomato Bisque is to die for!

By LMK101 |

We came here for lunch and another time for dinner. Each time we were seated right away. The servers on both occasions were helpful and attentive. The tomato bisque is so creamy and flavorful. It has a few little cheese curds that add some great flavor. Their gnocchi, fish N chips, pork three ways, ceviche, burrata are all good choices. They have a great selection of wines as well. The managers are useful when they come around and know exactly what you need and just bring it, i.e., extra napkins, water and so on. This is a great place to dine with a good atmosphere.

Loved this spot!

Loved this spot! Great food, attentive service, welcoming atmosphere and convenient location - - it was a winner. We all enjoyed our meals: hearty soups, tasty burgers and award-winning fish and chips. Highly recommend.

A great lunch spot!

Delicious lunch with lots of options. Service was wonderful and the food was outstanding. Ordered the fish and chips and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend. And save room for the macarons for dessert!

Mehh

By JPatti1 |

Disappointing to say the least, though with an admittedly small N of 1. The restaurant, on the NW corner of the Block 37 development, is attractive enough but has something of a patina of an elevated diner (e.g., mid-range tables and chairs), which we immediately noticed but (due to the good ratings on Tripadvisor) we assumed that the food must elevate the experience. Sadly not so. We started with salads, which were adequate but just that - functional but quite non-remarkable. The main course was the most expensive entree on the menu - an $85 combination board of four 4 oz steaks (one half of each of the four 8 oz steaks on the menu). Not only were the steaks not well-prepared (not a seared edge to be found on three of the four) but each of the four of them was quite tasteless. There was hope that the two sauces would elevate the flavor, but one was merely a soy/teriyaki (?) sauce that did not go well with the meat at all and the other was a very slightly spicy red sauce that only one of the four of us liked the taste of. Oddly there is also a house policy of no substitutions, so the waiter apologized for not being able to swap out the provided mashed potatoes for fries. Pretty surprising in any sit-down restaurant context, but particularly for an $85 entree. Perhaps we had the wrong impression going in and should have stuck with the burgers or the heavily promoted fish and chips. Those might have been better choices, but I don't think we will experiment with this restaurant again and instead stick with actual steakhouses or restaurants like the Gage.

Excellent food and service. Highly recommend

By AmyYas |

We made a reservation last minute since it was close to where we would be that night. The food was so good and service was top notch!! Appetizer was prosciutto and Gruyère croquettes which were fantastic. I had the hamburger and had no expectations, after all it’s a hamburger. But it was the best I’ve ever eaten. Soo good. Husband ate fish and chips which were very good. Cocktails very good. Dessert was the root beer float cake and also so good. Will definitely return. Highly recommend. Reasonable prices too!

Will go back!

Nice atmosphere. Came here on a Saturday night and we were promptly seated. Food was delicious. We had fish and chips and the spicy chicken a mushroom soup. Wonderful dinner experience. Definitely will go back next time we are in Chicago .

Perfect lunch would come back for the burger any time

We sat at a high top by the bar great service and great food! Burger was incredible fries fresh and hot, fried chicken and waffle very good

Don’t miss this theatre district gem!

By C P |

We went in to the Dearborn on the recommendation of the desk at the Hotel Allegro. Sometimes, you wonder if those recommendations are authentic- this one definitely was! We enjoyed a special breakfast, with lovely, attentive service. We especially loved the shrimp and grits and the cinnamon monkey bread. After our day out, we couldn’t think of anyplace better for dinner- so we went there again . We loved the “beat Bobby Flay fish and chips.” It is the rare restaurant that can make you so happy for two meals in one day. Can’t wait to go back again!

Food & Service

By Thad Scott C |

First time to The Dearborn and our waiter was extremely helpful. Limited menu but what's on the menu is excellent. The oysters were fabulous. Ordered the Fish and Chips and The pizza with the egg in the middle. Walked from The Westin North River. I would go back in a heart beat. A laid back, casual place.

Decent late night menu

By wilson1128 |

Went after theatre. Decent late night menu. We had Pizza and Guinness on tap. Guinness was better than most. Sat at bar, wait staff were friendly and competent.

Great Food and Service

By AlphaDelta2912 |

Dropped in late Saturday afternoon early evening for dinner. Wasn't overly busy at just before 6pm and shown to a table for 4. Ordered the oysters to share, bread and then ordered a regular burger and the Wellington Burger to share and 2x fish and chips, and drinks. Not the cheapest but beautiful restaurant with great food and service.

Great service and interesting menu

By John C |

Everyone on staff was great. The people at the podium, the bar staff and our server were uniformly warm and helpful. The menu was not extensive but was very interesting. The ceviche was excellent and the carrot salad delicious. The chowder was less grand. My wife had a chicken dish that was very tasty. All in all, a fine experience.

A Disappointing 3rd Visit

By The_Indy_Traveler |

I've been here twice in 2021 and this was my third visit. It was so good the previous times I was looking forward to returning. I bragged to my friend how good it was but this visit dropped the ball. I ordered what I ordered the previous times, Midwest Chicken, Everything Parker Rolls, and Fish n' Chips. My friend order the filet mignon. The rolls were as good as I remembered and expected. The chicken was okay. The glaze was sweeter than I remembered and a bit...dry but had a good crunch on it. My friend loved the rolls as well as the chicken. She very surprised how good it was. Although I appreciated his attentiveness, the busser was swarming like a bee to pick up our dishes from the appetizers. We didn't want to eat them as fast and rather save some to go with our dinner. Which took quite a while. The fish seems like it's under a new recipe or chef. Didn't taste as I remembered or looked forward to. The batter tasted salty. The filet, which was ordered medium rare, was still a struggle to slice. The table shook as she cut threw it. Her whipped potatoes were actually pureed. You'd think it was a creamy soup. I didn't like the pomegranate anise mocktail and it was removed. We had very little interaction and attention from our server. She was blan but polite. We saw the busser more than her. I assume she must of been really busy because one of the managers in a suit delivered our food. I wanted to love it but it just was very underwhelming and disappointing this visit and perhaps with the holidays and peak theater time may have affected everything. A lot a people were waiting to be seated so you know the place does serve good food. Just an off time this time I guess.

Trifecta - good, drinks, service

Great atmosphere, super friendly staff, fun drinks, and OMG the food was amazing. Try the halibut - seriously, just go for it - you’ll thank me later. Definitely coming back.
