If you get seasick, stay inside at the restaurant

By ta96silver |

Food was great, service was great, but the deck rocks as the Columbia River moves. The outside deck is tied to the inside deck and rocks more. We started outside and had to move inside because of the movement on the outer deck. Once we got past that, the food was great, as was the service. We'd go back.

Food was good and the view beautiful

By Karen F |

Hard walk for older people....steep walkway going back up the hill...the food was good and I would go again

Best outdoor Portland dining experience.

By ATCTraveler |

Huge rooftop deck to get some afternoon sun with good food and a glass of wine. The waitress recommended the fish and chips. Risky in my book because that is a favorite of mine. It turned out ok, not top notch but with the sunshine and wine, super.

Food was great, service horrible, again...

By heatherfeathr |

Wait staff very rude, dosnt check in after food is dropped at table. We will give it one more shot, this time we will say something.

Perfect "Happy Hour" drinks and app's

By Gabriele A |

Spent a sunny afternoon with friends watching the boats go by on the Columbia. Love their "Happy Hour" Margaritas accompanied by Halibut fish tacos, which are a great value for the price.

Looling around watching the river is great way to relax

By Collins M |

Being near the small boat Marina near Jantzen Beach is great way to relax. The food is typical ocean offerings with our favorite being the Ahi Tuna. For the sandwich lovers their is many burger offerings. The shrimp salad is good when a person wants just a light snack. Their offerings are also liked by the small children over other Columbia River restaurants.

Nice setting on the water. Popular.

By BunnieinOregon |

We usually come by boat. We lunched here twice last weekend and I think the food is very much improved so keep up the good work. I don't care for the mystery wine for 4 bucks and it will be either Rieisling or Chardonnay but they don't tell you first! People who like Chard gag on Riesling and vise versa. Mystery Chardonnay or mystery Riesling catagories would be okay as long as it doesn't come out of a box or 2 Buck Chuck quality.

Very good service and happy hour!

By Peeteega |

Nice location but for anyone with disability, going down the ramp to the marina could be difficult. Service was good, happy hour prices and selection very good, and drink prices were excellent. Parking is tough as the lot is fairly small and the place is very busy but we were able to grab a table fairly easily. From what I could see, it is sporadic.

Fun on a sunny day

By MarineAir10 |

A nice place for a quick bite on a sunny day. On weekends it gets very crowded and you can wait a long time for a table unless you are there at opening. People have a tendency to 'linger' at tables which is understandable as you watch the boats go buy,

Great place for a summer bite to eat.

By shewholovestoeat |

What a fun place for a drink and food. Right on the Columbia river. It's a big place, full of people having fun. You can order drinks and food, and relax on the river. Staff is fun. Happy hour is excellent. Stop in for a bite and some fun.

Mother’s Day

By ISRAEL Z |

I decided to bring my wife to this awesome place for the Mother’s Day. She loved it kids also. It’s so relaxing and beautiful panoramic place

great spot to watch the river and have a drink

By ezflyer1 |

we had to tie up to their dock due to some issues with our boat. The staff ran out and grabbed our lines. Offered to let us stay there as long as we needed. wait staff were really friendly and food was outstanding. I got the halibut burger with blue cheese. wow - it was amazing. loved it. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful night on the river

By jdsharkey |

We saw a sign up in Vancouver and decided to give them a try. I am so glad we did. The weather was perfect. A light breeze was blowng and 68 degrees. Had the steamer clams to start. You get 2 lbs. Most places only give you 1. They were the perfect size. Not too big and they were great. For dinner we had the shrimp salad. You get a lot of shrimp. You don't realize how much lettuce is in the bowl. I got to the point I had to just eat the rest of my shrimp. The atmosphere is relaxing and unhurried. I am looking forward to going again.

Very disappointed

By Scott C |

Food was good, service was excellent. Servers are beautiful. Location is awesome. Seriously though the only non fried option is some salmon. How about a grilled daily catch would pay premium for some sturgeon or halibut steaks. Missing the good stuff. Bar food only

Waterfront dinning

By 65stang |

I saw a small sign re: floating restaurant that appealed to us on a sunny Sunday. Approx 2 miles east of I-5 on Marine Drive the restaurant is attached to a Marina and is a long walk down the gangway and through the moored boats to the pub style restaurant. The outside deck is fairly large, but the wait was fairly long so we choose inside, however because there are no walls, inside was still outside but with a roof. The menu is typical for pub food, but with less fried items and reasonably priced. We had to ask for a server as we were ignored for quite awhile, but from then on, the service was good. The entertainment consisted of ducks and geese swimming by waiting for a handout and a sailboat race along the river.

Tuna!

By halleckst |

Excellent service - friendly staff - the seared tuna is fantastic-perfect medium rare and had it with the greek salad and yummy house chard...couldn't ask for more -

Enjoy the river with pub food

By docyjk |

You visit the Deck for the views of the Columbia. It's windy, the waves rock the restaurant on its floats, and geese and gulls beg for handouts. It's also very sunny on a sunny day, though hats might be an issue (wind). Note to those with mobility issues - there is a long ramp down (and therefor back up again) to get to the dock. The food is predominantly pub style, with an emphasis on fried items. Drinks are generous. There can be a wait and parking along the river can be congested, so plan on going at an off-hour and/or carpool if possible.

Best Happy Hour In PDX!!!

By Melinda D |

Consistently great food and drinks with a happy hour from 11am-6pm! The halibut tacos are wonderful!

Happy hour heaven!

By mejavi |

We went for happy hour, arriving a little after five. The access ramp must be really tricky for some, but on a hot summer evening, the setting is perfect. The buoy beer got the thumbs up, as did the happy hour margarita. As we’d had a big lunch, the happy hour appetizers were just right for us - shrimp cocktail and halibut tacos. We sat indoors but still had nice views of the river and really enjoyed the atmosphere - and the check was under $40!

Marina on the Columbia River

By greentarpon |

Great location on the river watching the planes flying enjoying the wildlife and a wonderful seafood dinner service was awesome

Tacos!

By jon r |

I used to live on the river near here in the 70s so walking down the plank brought back memories. Not a long walk at all to the waterside tables which are well served by experienced wait staff. So - what stands out for me? The tacos. Not a certified goodie but I know above average food. These are the best American tacos I can remember. All around good. Right sized. Quality stuffing and just memorable. Do yourself a favor and give them a try!

Good American food

By RobertaCar |

Good food. Don't order steak to share - too small portion. Sandwiches are good size and flavor. Attendants are great and helpful.

Extra start for location!

By Palmgirl33 |

This is literally a deck on the river! A cool idea and would definitely be great for drinking on a summer night. We went during the day and happy hour was happening (apparently all day but prices seem normal instead of discounted?) the food was bar food so doable. For sure be careful of you do drink there because there are no railings on the dock when you are walking to the place!

Adventure Plus Good Food

By 728irisheyes44 |

The Deck just off Marine Dr. is a happy place. A group of ladies had lunch here, and the table was reserved and ready. We walked a steep plank to the dock where the restaurant sits, ate some good food, then climbed back up to the parking lot. This is truly a place for river folks who come by boat and need nourishment. Food. Their Happy Hour menu works most of the day, and some items are the same as the regular menu. Fish tacos were the favorite in our group, but some people had sandwiches which were tasty too. The wait staff accommodated every single one of us, and allowed us to pay separately. The Deck is in the flight path for commercial jets leaving PDX, so the conversation just has lulls in it. No big deal. We gabbed away an hour and a half, then made our climb back to the parking lot. Folks with knee or walking issues would have a tough time getting down or up from the restaurant. However, the outdoorsy feel, water under you, birds watching you eat, just add to the atmosphere of this place. I'd return even with the noise! Signs are well placed now for parking just off Marine Dr.

Great afternoon RIGHT ON the river!!

By PDXtraveller707 |

Enjoyed a nice lunch at this floating houseboat pub right on the River, literally, ON the river! What a cool place, food was delic (we had nachos, sandwiches, and fries - all good!) cold beer/drinks and a one of a kind experience floating . . .we loved it! They have both umbrellas to stay cool and blankets if it gets chilly :)

WERE FROM COLORADO

By Pegasus44 |

Don't know if it's because we're from Colorado and don't get much seafood or if this was really good. Plumpest clams I've ever had reasonably priced

Terrible service detracts

By Lauren B |

When the manager of a restaurant blows off the crowd waiting by the door (some of whom were trying to sign in for their reserved tables), it sets the tone for the overall service ethic of the venue. The Deck has a fun location, esp. on a sunny day. However, long waits for food and drink and inattentive staff make me hesitate to go back. The bartender did not give us the happy hour price on one of our drinks and the waitress double charged us for the same drink. Food and drink are merely mediocre. I can't recommend The Deck for anything more than the setting.

Can't get enough of the water!!!!

By Kristil and Jer... J |

What an experience... Owner so warm, and the staff great spirited! Coconut shrimp, margaritas, sunset on the water was amazing. This was our last night of our honeymoon...and what a great ending indeed.

Great Food, Fun on the water

By gjbmn |

We found this place our 1st day and liked it so much we ate there again for our last vacation meal. Great friendly, quick, and attentive staff! And the food was fabulous! Loved being right on the water!

Always fun on the water

By Movingman143 |

Usually there are 6-8 of us that arrive to enjoy the deck on the river. Sunshine, water, boats, taffy......yummy. We are never disappointed with the Deck. We come here around 7 times each year. We highly recommend you try it. Seniors that don't walk well and wheel chair access are a little restricted.

Open air and fun

By Switters B |

Weather allowing, this is a nice place to go for lunch or dinner. Hot days find respite with the river's breeze. Great owners and staff. Now sometimes jets approach PIA over the top but all part of the experience. Only one downside and river dependent: ramp from lot down to marina area can become quite steep during low water Summer/Fall. Descending/Climbing could be a problem for those impaired and wheelchair access would be a no go.

Good lunch and beer spot.

By Finklebell |

We visited with a group of 12 just because it was close by. They happily took us in with no reservations and the service was great. The restaurant is in a marina so it is about 100 yard walk down a wood dock and the ramp can be steep due the tide. You will hear an occasional airplane; the Portland airport is near by.

Great ambiance and nice service

By Rick A |

Very unique place to eat, right on the Columbia River and I do mean on! Tricky to find. Drive down NE Marine Drive keeping close eye out for their sign. Drive through open gate and find a parking spot. Then find the gangway down to the docks. WARNING: AVOID HIGH HEELS😜. This was a very steep drop and boat shoes/sneakers are advised. Obviously you are about to walk out into floating docks which WILL move as you walk. Be careful of your footing. Once you arrive you will find inside seating, outside seating and in between seating. Remember, it gets windy in the Gorge show choose carefully depending on weather and wear warm anyway. Despite arriving within 30 minutes of closing, service was prompt and delightful! Our cocktails arrived quickly and the coconut shrimp shareable were delicious. The cheeseburgers, black and blue cheeseburger oyster basket were all delivered quickly and hot out of the kitchen. All were devoured! This is a unique spot to enjoy, whether for a bite to eat or a sunset drink, be sure to check it out! P.S. When you leave you may find the gate closed! Don't panic, as you drive up to the exit gate it automatically opens! Enjoy!

So so

By Jody L |

Food was fair at best. Could be an amazing spot given the location. We were looking for a local joint that wasn't too expensive...it fit that bill but needs better food. Cool views though.

Great ambiance good food

By ChrisandTom10 |

The ambiance is great at this place. It's a floating restaurant with lots of outdoor seating. Plus we had out dog and they were fine with that. It was beautiful day when we went and we had to wait a bit but all in all it was a great experience. Food is just bar food but good and plentiful. I will go back again.

Casual Food With Beautiful Views!

By syrahgirl |

We had made reservations at Salty's yesterday after dropping off our daughter-in-law and granddaughter at the airport and wanted to dine at Salty's but they were closed until 4:00. The server told us about The Deck. The outdoor patio is very nice with gorgeous views of the river. Our service was attentive and the Hamburger With Carmelized Onions and Dipping Sauce was good, served with French Fries. This is a nice alternative to Salty's when it is closed. Casual dining, great food, service and views in Portland, by the airport.

Relaxing atmosphere

By Beckie38242 |

What a fun outdoor place to have an afternoon lunch. Two couples and we sat outside on covered deck by the water. 2 of us ordered the Deck Burger 🍔 which is the best twist on a burger I have had. You dip it in au jus and such a great change. 2 had the fish and chips and was very good. Loved throwing ice and French fries to large fish in water who are waiting for the drop. Only bad part was the steep walk to the restaurant Highly recommend

Awesome place to eat

By RStellman |

This is a great place to relax and enjoy the company of your friends and family. It's an outdoor floating restaurant on the Columbia River on Marine Dr. in Portland Or. Enjoy the good food, drink and eachother's company while watching the planes overhead and the boats on the water. Great sunsets. Friendly staff. Wonderful place. Only open from about end of April to end of September.

Great food, beautiful view

By ORbeachdawg |

Only negative would be long long walk from the parking up above the docks but it was worth it. Great service, great food, view to die for, will go back again for sure!

Everything about it was fabulous

By BunnieinOregon |

From the atmoshphere to the waitress and even the wine, which I'm particular about was good! We ordered several items from the happy hour menu and all were excellent and a good value. I was most impressed that they didn't try to pawn off a cheap Chardonnay on me and had 14 Hands for their house wine and served it in a wine glass and not a plastic tumbler like HIdden Bay Cafe and Island Cafe. There is dock space for your boat but watch out for the sand bar at the entrance! We got stuck on it and it's not marked. They have happy hour all day from noon to 6 p.m. FYI

*Sigh*. The Deck can do better than this...

By mholbrook |

*sigh* we love this place. But tonight I had the "halibut fish and chips" for the first time. Pass the Prilosec. These are pre-frozen/pre-battered very greasy, rock hard batter...but the fish was somewhat edible if you dug it out of the batter... but even then, not much flavor. HULLO?? We are close to Alaska. Fresh halibut!!! Halibut is spendy, I get that. But serving frozen icky halibut won't keep The Deck afloat. We will return, but I'll have the grilled fish tacos or something better than the F&C.

Great food and the floor that moves

By Carol B |

We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Deck. Service was great, cheerful and fast. The food was delicious, The prices seem to be averaging $15 and had a variety of interesting bar drinks.

The Deck - A Summer Must!

By Tammi W |

We just discovered the deck this year and are hooked. You can sit out on the river and your troubles just float away. They have happy hour from 11-6 daily! The food portions are great and we haven't found a bad thing on the menu! My favorite is the shrimp cocktail because the portion size is huge and the cocktail sauce has an awesome kick! Though it is a seasonal restaurant, we can't wait to start enjoying the water next year!!!

Favorite restaurant in Portland

By David_G52024 |

This is our favorite restaurant in Portland. Each visit is like a mini-vacation to the coast or the Caribbean. Great atmosphere and views floating on the Columbia in a marina. Fabulous sunset views. Open May 2 through Sept. My favorite menu items are the Anchor (tuna melt) or Grown-up Grilled Cheese and the beer selection. We bring our grandson for lunch often (ducks and other birds provide entertainment and there's a children's menu and a treasure chest of reward toys afterwards). The happy hour menu provides lighter meals.

Summer Fun dinning

By Ron S |

The Deck is simple but be prepared to walk up and down very steep long ramps. Very limited restrooms since you are eating on a fishing dock. The food is simple like bar food. Although very good for the price. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Parking is a pain and very little. Pan extra time to park and walk to the Deck. We would return again.

Beautiful setting on the Columbia!

By Jennifer B |

Great fish tacos! We love The Deck because the staff if friendly and the location is great! Good variety of food on the menu! If you want a great outdoor dining experience this is the place!

A Meal We'll Remember!

By 743bud |

My husband and I just celebrated his 75th birthday at The Deck! It was awesome! The food was fabulous and the service was warm and friendly. Jeff was the best! It's perfectly casual. Great atmosphere! If you want to be have a great day on the river...put on your deck shoes! You won't be sorry. Can't wait to go again...and bring our friends with us!!!

Not ideal for wanting to conduct business

By cdtanager |

There were 2 other large parties in there, they were hoopin and hollerin’ and celebrating, making it difficult for us to hear ourselves. We had asked to have the outdoor seating but they closed it for some reason. Dinner special was very tasty. I’d return if I was in a group celebrating, but not for business.

Wonderful location

By RUSSELL M |

The setting on the Columbia river is wonderful. The walk up and down the steep "gangplank" to the floating restaurant was fun. We even enjoyed the occasional jets overhead resulting from the proximity to PDX. Happy Hour all day long is a nice touch. However, the service was very poor. We waited several minutes to place our order. We asked for extra salt on our margaritas when ordering. When the drinks were delivered, you could barely see any salt on the glasses. We asked about the lack of salt and were told to use the salt shaker on the table. The waitress barely showed up again. There was so little meat on the sliders, that you had to open the bun to see anything. The nachos were served with salsa which was a good thing, since there was almost no topping on the chips.

Great Happy Hour

By Sue H |

Tonight was my first ever experience at The Deck. It is a floating barge on the Columbia River off Marine Drive. Our neighbor had recommended it, and then when some friends called us to meet them for Happy Hour, we suggested The Deck, and our friend knew the owners. Such a small world. The Happy Hour menu was a nice mix of items, shrimp cocktail which was huge with a good sauce with plenty of horseradish, nachos which was good size and not skimpy, butterflied shrimp with a coconut and pineapple sauce. The drink menu was reasonably priced for Happy Hour. The best part was the river, the boats, the setting sun. Unfortunately this is a seasonal restaurant and they will close September 29th and reopen on April 20, 2013. Happy hours runs from 11 am to 6 p.m. Their regular menu was extraordinary if you get there after 6 p.m. Be prepared for a steep walk up and down from the parking lot to the dock.

This place is Awesome!

By shVerASGAM |

We always get treated very well with wonderful service. The food is excellent and I can say we've always had a great time!

Feels like home

By mona a |

I love this place. The food is always good, servers are happy and helpful. And it's floating on the Columbia River. The Deck burger is my favorite. They had specialty drinks that are fun and yummy.

"Nothing to write home to mom about "

By Ella |

To start with the atmosphere, it's a deck and it's nice it's outside on the river . It's got a low budget slapped together feel, with cheap tables and chairs . The food came out in a frisbee , and some dollar tree Plastic plates . The food is poor quality nothing that stands out , it's all frozen or out of a can tossed together. It's also very pricy for what you get . Happy hour is regular price , and the regular prices is over priced . The salad in the picture is 6.50 very small with dressing out of a bottle . (Bath lot style food you can cook at home out of a can ) I would skip it , there are too many good places to eat around town to waste your time coming in . I guess if your just going to drink it might be ok , your not going to noticed the rest of it if your drunk .

Fabulous and unique

By brenirish |

Loved this place. Totally on a deck. The wind was up and the deck was moving slightly. Very rustic and quaint. The restaurant supplied blankets to customer's to help keep warm. The food was excellent, as was the service. The facility was not spotlessly clean, but the nature of it required a certain amount of napkins flying a bout and an occasional bird chowing down at the table next to you. The parking lot is at the top of the hill, if full you have to park on the street. Then you carefully walk down a reasonably steep incline to the warf and find The Deck at the end. Great and interesting. Don't wear high healed shoes. Casual.

Great place…..need strong legs to get there and back!

By Kris S |

Great food and drinks, prices also good…..but the walk down the ramp to get to the deck is steep, comes with warning not to go barefoot or in heels! I was worried about getting back up! Service was prompt, super friendly, The Deck Margarita was fab! We had a nice sunny day with a light breeze, had the Turkey BLT toasted, came with great fries, nicely seasoned and crispy. A great experience…..I WAS able to get back up the ramp with a few breaks…considering I’m over 70 not bad at all! Worth a repeat or more!

Excellent

By mona a |

This restaurant is a floating restaurant on the Columbia River. The view is excellent and is mostly outdoor seating. The Deck Burger is amazing and a good value. The staff can't help but be happy.

Nice View

By 1WindowSeatPlease |

I found this spot while staying at a hotel near the airport and I've gone back several times. It's a floating bar in the river with causal pub food. There's a great view of the river and of the planes overhead. The people are very friendly, which is nice for those on a solo business trip. There are some happy hour food deals. I got wings and a pitcher during happy hour for about $20.

Unbeatable on a Sunny Summer day

By JMc |

We've been to the deck for lunch, drinks and dinner. If it's a beautiful day, the location itself is a 10. Depending on what you order, the food can be a little hit and miss. A major hit is the Tuna sandwich--a definite 10. The clam strips, however, are more Costco quality and should probably be avoided. Drinks are reasonably priced.

Pricey and LOUD planes

By biggbirdd |

Really cool place and the staff is awesome. The food was mediocre. I had salmon tacos (2) and surprised to get chips and little salsa on side for $16... Husband had the cod fish and chips same price and got a lot more goodies like fries and coleslaw. Drank Ice tea and total was $40 with tip. Waitress was again "awesome" we brought our small dog and she was welcomed:) I would go again but will have a couple of cocktails and enjoy this floating patio restaurant on the Columbia river. Reminds me of Virgin Sturgeon at home Sacramento.

Casual atmosphere and romantic ambiance

By Sarah M |

I love when this restrsunt opens in may. It has a casual atmosphere with good burgers and cocktails. The floating deck makes it special. The next i go i need to go in the evening to see the sunset!

Cannot beat the view!

By cherylf235 |

We love The Deck. You feel like you are in the middle of the Columbia River. The food is good traditional “pub” food. My fav is the adult grilled cheese... multiple cheese including Brie, tomato and bacon. Yummy. Service always fast and pleasant.

Nice on the Columbia River

By Winngrip |

This is my third trip to The Deck. It sits on floating rafts on the river, There is roofed and open to the sun seating. The food is always good and the staff quick and attentive. It's a little bit of a hike down to it but well worth it. Just so you know.

Quaint and rustic

By Doug-n-Barbara |

First time at The Deck restaurant on the Columbia River. Located at; 2915 NE Marine Dr Portland, OR 97211 look for the A frame sign because the parking lot is easy to pass by. It's a seasonal floating restaurant located out of the city proper by the airport. After parking locate the ramp which is a steep San Francisco type downcline, remember you have to come back up. This is not suitable for the weak of heart, bad legs nor wheelchairs. Navigating the down ramp walk out on the dock amidst houseboats and boat slips on the way perhaps seeing a swimming duck or two and you come to The Deck. The bar is inside and the restaurant section is a deck with both open air and covered seating. You can watch boats going by on the river or parking at the dock as seagulls fly by. We were in a group of ten and and it was the season opener so the 20 minutes it took to get our food as they were also quite busy is totally forgivable. All the servers were friendly, smiling and professional, KUDOS to them all! A few friends had various burgers which they all seemed to love as did one who had a Reuben on marbled rye. A friends steamer clams were enjoyed as was his wife's clam strips she said. My wife sampled a clam strip and found it tender and tasty. My wife and I had a happy hour starter, cheesy/bacon fries and they were wonderful! We ordered Halibut fish and chips and I was surprised to be served processed frozen fish portions instead of freshly battered fresh fish. Be that as it may it was done well, moist and not greasy. The fries were also hot, done properly and non greasy. It came with simple shredded slaw with a honey mustard dressing, a nice touch and dill based tarter, my favorite. Multiple beers and some drinks are brought in small sand buckets and margaritas served in jars, as I say very quaint. All in all a great ambiance for your meal and don't be surprised if a duck strolls by. The four stars is for the fish. Call me picky but a sit down restaurant should serve fresh fish. Amenities include: Take-out, credit cards, good for Kids, good for groups, casual attire, full bar, free wi-fi, and even bring your small dog.

Great Spot on The Columbia River

By Timothy C |

Had lunch here on a glorious September afternoon. We were seated right on the water with great views of all the river traffic. Food spot on with the place's motif. Service was excellent and the cold beer soothing.

Hidden gem on the Columbia River

By Nathan R |

New ownership this season. Dog friendly. Great drinks. Good food. Spectacular setting. Meet up with friends for a great time on the water

Awesome dinner on Columbia river

By Archie |

Definitely visit at happy hour! There is a great deal on appetizers and drinks. The drinks are definitely strong. Its a boat on the river floating and you can definitely feel the movement. The servers are nice. It gets very warm. We ordered some drinks and shrimp cocktail and calamari, hummus and veggies. We also got quesadilla chicken as part of the specials. It was a relaxing dinner with lovely views. There is plenty of parking. We walked down to the river.

Perfect view and awesome food!

By Colleen J |

If you are coming to Portland, don't miss having a meal at The Deck. It's a floating restaurant on the Columbia River and you can watch the sailboats and jet skis drive by. The staff is friendly and laid back and you feel like you're part of the family. Their burgers are delicious and so is the shrimp cocktail. If you have a boat, you can boat up and have lunch or watch the sunset. It's amazing!

Not bad

By newyorker1953 |

Great view. Outdoor seating, but birds are a nuisance and we had to move to another table to get away from them. Beer on tap. 1/2 bay shrimp cocktail (happy hour menu ) was huge and fresh. Steamer clams tasty but needed to be washed better as some had sand grit. Service was excellent. Be prepared for a long walk down and up a steep ramp to get to and from the restaurant.

The Deck

By Greg W |

The Deck has a has a great location on the Columbia River , It a Little Hard to find when you Drive into the parking Lot . You will have to walk down a pier to get to it . The week end is very busy and the food is good , You have a beautiful view of the Columbia River and the sunset . The Drinks are also Great and the service is wonderful .

Relaxing on the Water

By PlainsHiker |

My wife loves to meet me for lunch on the Columbia. The floating restaurant is fun for lunch on a summers days. The food is good and the location makes you feel like you have gotten away from the bustle of the city or the airport.

Great service, food and views!!!

By SamAdamsPDX |

I rate The Deck 5 stars: How has this floating outdoor bar and restaurant escaped my notice until now!? Miguel our waiter and all the staff were wonderful. Happy hour food and beverage options were plentiful. The views of the Columbia River at water line level superb!!!

Right on the river, but also in plane path

By AZGrotta |

When the sun comes out and the weather's warm, nothing beats a cold brew and some grub right on the river. The Deck fits that description perfectly....BUT... It is right under the flight path of planes taking off from the airport. Most of the time it's bearable, but when four fighter jets took off overhead in quick succession it was almost unbearable. That said, we'll keep returning. The happy hour starts at 11 a.m. Not bad.

Be Observant of Thieves Watching!

By Leigh G |

Please be advised this restaurant has thieves hiding out and lurking! We were in the restaurant 30 to 40 minutes. During that time, our vehicle encountered a smash and grab where ALL of our luggage was stolen as well as other valuables. The Deck has no signage forewarning patrons to remove all belongings nor do they have cameras that work. This is a PSA announcement for all future customers to remove everything from your vehicle before dining at the deck restaurant.

Our new favorite on-the-water restaurant

By knhdah |

I hesitate to tell anyone about this place, because I love that it isn't super crowded, unlike its more-well-known Hayden Island neighbor, the Island Cafe. The food was really good and they have Happy Hour all day long--from 11am to 6pm. I had the cheeseburger which was delicious, my husband had the Caprise Club sandwich--also good, and our 7 yr old daughter had the Halibut fish taco from the Happy Hour menu. She didn't really care for it, because it had "SAUCE" on it, but my husband & I thought it was yummy! They also had lots of seats in the sun, and a big covered patio if you preferred the shade. The only drawback is it's a seasonal restaurant, aka only open late spring through early fall, and you have to take I-5 north, if you're coming from the west side of Portland. But other than that, yummy, and we'll definitely go back!

If you have never had lunch out on a river before then you must try The Desk. The food is amazing and some of the best burgers you will get anywhere. Pricewise and you're on a budget go here. The service was great also. It’s more reasonable that some other places in the Portland area. Plus you get to eat right on the river. You will have a clear view of the river and may see boats and also aircraft flying over on their way to pdx. On a side note if you have trouble walking like I do there is an extremely steep incline you must walk down to get where the boats are mored. Then you will need to walk out over the river on the pier to get to The Deck. Even with my limitation, it was definitely worth it.

Great for Outdoor Dining

I love this place! The owners and their staff are very friendly. They make you feel at home in this river front restaurant that is in the water like a house boat! The food and drinks are good as well. I would recommend on a hot summer day!

Atmosphere and Food are Both a Homerun

By Dave L |

The ability to eat on the water with a great atmosphere was enough to get our group all excited. Then you add excellent food and service and you have a truly excellent place for your next meal. We had a fairly large group that tried a variety of almost everything on the menu and they were all excellent. Add on some of our favorite alcoholic beverages and we had a truly memorable evening. We are looking forward to our next trip and keep up the great work!

GREAT VIEW - COOL FOOD

By MrRodgers2011 |

Brought out of town company to this restaurant which floats in a marina on the Columbia River. It was a very windy day, so sitting on the open deck was a bit of a challenge, but they wanted to experience the view. Ordered drinks, including 2 margarita's. Ordinarily, a small glass can be fairly strong, but these were as weak as dishwater. Our guests ordered beer which was a much better choice. Working the deck was the manager and a young lady handling all the ordering and delivery of food. She was a bit overwhelmed, although there were a number of empty tables. As a result, food was coming out of the kitchen slowly and sitting under the warmer too long. By the time it was delivered most of the heat had left it. I ate my food rather quickly rather than let it cool down anymore than it did. The cheeseburger was very good, and the fries were non greasy and did stay warm longer than my burger. The other dishes served were equally on the cool side, but not bad enough to send back. I am sorry to see so many restaurants cut back on the number of servers and risk delivering food that is no longer hot. I am almost of the mind to begin carrying a meat thermometer with me to validate sending food back that is not delivered hot. It is understandable that with the higher minimum wages in Oregon, this prompts reductions in staff, but it risks alienating your customers too.

Beautiful day in Portland, went to the Deck for a late lunch. Seated immediately, right on the water. Nice view of the Columbia and the Interstate Bridge. Ordered halibut bites and chili dogs( Nathan's) off Happy Hour menu. HH starts at 11 and ends at 6pm. Love this place. Great owners.

Great view, fun night out

This floating restaurant has a great fried food happy hour and the best view in town. You are literally on a deck floating in the Columbia. It is an unusually warm and sunny summer and the day we visited the weather was glorious, so may have prejudiced my opinion. The drinks were great, the staff friendly, and accommodating. We had several fried choices; onion rings, chili fries, shrimp, which were just fine. Then had a really tasty halibut taco. I found the atmosphere to be really relaxed, friendly, and charming. I plan to return soon. However, the warnings about steep ramp should be heeded if there are those in your party with challenges.

Check it out for Yourself!

Wow,...another restaurant with reviews all over the map! For myself we were waiting for a party to come into town & wanted to catch a bite close by. What a beautiful location to wait for a flight. The staff was very friendly & our meals were tasty. We left there thinking why did we normally stop @ the first two restaurants along the river while waiting for flights. Will go back to the Deck & yes it seems like they run a Happy Hour all day!
