Cool place

By Kambojambo |

First time coming here, went after the Hawks game and overall pretty satisfied. Wasn't too busy, got seated right away. Lots of beers on tap. I had the blacken blu burger, was good. I wish I got the bbq burger, that looked awesome. I will have to come back and try it. Heard a lot of people saying they have the best burgers, I wouldn't agree, but they were pretty good. A lot of tvs to watch.

Worth trying

By Louise J |

We stayed 5 minutes from Capitol Hill and this was a great place to eat without having to go downtown. The food was fresh and there was a great range of beers to try. Burgers were a big feature, which were good value and filing. I had the Vietnamese Chop Chop salad for lunch and it was a very tasty and interesting. There's nothing outstanding but for the price it's a good find on Broadway.

Good then not so good

By TLER021213 |

We really enjoyed our first experience at this bar & grill. The food was good and it has a very relaxed atmosphere. Our server was very attentive and we had an overall nice experience. So much so we went back the next day. Our second experience was not as nice. Food was not hot and the chicken fingers were overcooked. Our server was not very attentive. Just proves that a good place to eat is only as good as it's employees on any given day.

Good not great

By PaulJoHan |

This is a fun, divey place with a long history in the neighborhood, but the food and service was just ok. Our waiter provided everything we needed but was not very friendly or prompt. I had the cheddar ale biscuits n gravy. It wasn't bad, but it was a little uninspired, no strong flavors. My sister liked her hangover burger considerably more than I liked my choice. My Bloody Mary was good. I would stop in again for a drink, maybe grab a burger if I'm in the neighborhood and craving one.

If you could just find a place to park!

By Apoet2 |

Wow! What a great little place. My friends - who are Happy Hour experts - said this was one of the very best in all of Seattle, and I they are correct. We met them there for Happy Hour and were really impressed. Good food. Good service. Great prices, and fantastic value. Plenty of appealing menu items, and very nice portions. We were amazed at how good the food was. The only drawback, and it could be a big one, is that they Broadway area does not have any decent parking. I let out my friend near the restaurant and finally found a place to park about 7 blocks away. I guess the upside of that is if one drinks too much they have a good chance of being sober by the time they get back to their car. Maybe you can get lucky and find something closer, but don't bet on it. If you don't mind the walk, this is a fantastic place to enjoy so good food and drinks, and still have your wallet not drained. It is more comfortable than classy, so yuppies might want to look elsewhere, but a great place for real people.

Deluxe IS

By SherryLS |

Always enjoy the Deluxe bar and Grill. Near Harvard Exit Theatre and kobo art Gallery etc. Heart of Capitol Hill. The fettuccine was great last night. I recommend it with an Arnold Palmer. Great tastes together. The fish tacos, not as great as they were many years ago. Deluxe is in the right neighborhood for fun.

Good food, great staff

By Cal92673 |

The staff couldn't be more attentive! Ive really grown to appreciate that in a restaurant. The Hangover Burger was awesome. The carrot almond soup was unique and ok. My wife got the chicken , blue cheese, romaine, etc salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. She really liked it. Nice bar area.

Great Place to Spend Some Time on a January Afternoon

By BathMonkey |

We met up with friends and loved the feel of this bar. Warm and friendly, with an excellent drink selection. Our bartender, Roland, was super knowledgeable about mixing cocktails. Wide selection of beers. We will be back!

Cozy and tasty

By Brian O |

Staying down the block on business we stumbled upon this very cozy and warm pub. Service was very friendly and attentive. Burgers are great size and good tasting. Great selection on menu. Soup was top notch. Good selection of beers.

The Deluxe is still a Seattle Standard

By normee |

We had linch at the Deluxe after not having been in for years. The turkey club and chicken sandwich were very good. We'll go back again soon.

Chill Capitol Hill bar

By loveDCA |

A great Capitol Hill bar to catch up on sports and enjoy a delicious beer and burger. It’s on the quieter northern part of Capitol Hill.

Fab burgers and local drinking space

By HelenStonehouse |

Their burgers are phenomenal. That's all you really need to know. They also have a crazy fun beer list. It gets rotated about once a week, and sometimes includes such revelations as Klingon beer... The staff are also super friendly - nothing better than sitting at the bar with a burger and a few beers and chatting away to whoever's working that evening. They also have pool and a pretty decent brunch on the weekends. If you've not been, you should stop in. Go now, in fact.

Long-time Capitol Hill staple elevating itself

By Anthony H |

There was a time I was unsure about the Deluxe. It was inconsistent and not at all inspiring. Then two years ago, the menu and level of service was elevated back to what I remember. Aside from the Wednesday burgerama event, their happy hour and main menu offers a lot of choices. Their mac and cheese and various salad options are among my favorites as well as the French Dip.

Dirty Sticky Table

By FRED W |

Visiting Seattle and went with friends to The Deluxe. Table was sticky and looked like wiped with dirty rag. Wiped down with water from glass and napkin. Good fod OK, and server was pleasant.

Solid Burgers, Good Experience

By BrianSeattle425 |

I went to Deluxe for the first time recently. It was a solid experience. It's pretty affordable and the food was solid. It's kinda divie but clean and the staff was friendly. Our cocktails were good. I'd go back next time in the area.

Its OK...but nothing notable

By Jake5280 |

Went here on a Thursday night. Walked up and down broadway, and decided this was the most appealing. It was a bit of a let down. Food was ok. Drinks were a bit pricey. Probably won't go back.

Best Bleu Cheese Burger in Seattle

By kvdk0624 |

And yes, I've been to Smith with their "organic" buns. DeLuxe is better. The bleu cheese on the burger at DeLuxe is chunky AND creamy, which adds great texture to the burger. If you ask for it medium rare - it REALLY comes out medium rare!!!! Juicy and warm and gooey! This is not a fancy shmancy burger, though. This is a down and dirty, creamy bleu cheesy delight.

SUBPAR SERVICE THAT GOUGES THE UNAWARE CUSTOMER

By STEVE C |

Indifferent service. no fork/knives until asked. Better bar than restaurant. They had the nerve to sneak in a 3% "service fee" for the kitchen help. I had then take it off the total and left no tip. They never asked how was our food? This place has great location, American pub food, and subpar service, Capitol Hill has many other spots that are superior.

Bad Service and Food

By Randal P |

We ordered the BBQ quesadilla and po'boy turkey sub. The badly seasoned quesadilla was impossible to eat because it was drenched in BBQ sauce. The Po'Boy had no taste plus it was mostly old cheap bread. The waitress seemed confused and stoned when asked questions. After she took our order the last time we saw her was when the check was placed on our table. We have lived on the hill and eaten at the Deluxe off and on over the past 30 years. The food and service is gone completely and we recommend to stay away until the "under new management sign is raised".

Great Food here for years!

By Kevin L |

This is a super great venue location that has stayed with us through times of trouble. Always, Always good food and friendly staff. Try it and then post a review.

yum

By Hillarie C |

We were hungry and decided to give this place a try and glad we did. We really enjoyed the meal. We both got the chicken sandwiches and fries. I got mine blackened and it was delicious and so were the fries. My boyfriend enjoyed his as well. The waitress wasn't our favorite, she was just ok. I would eat here again!

Awesome for beer and cider

By dunl1122 |

We went here for the late night happy hour. The fries were awesome.... And it came with the best tarter sauce I've ever had. Knowledgeable staff about the drinks on tap. Good bar atmosphere

Ok for drinks, but the fish and chips were disappointing

By Cecelia T |

When we arrived this quaint little bar and grill was not very busy, but within an hour it filled up with the Friday night after work crowd. We stopped in to have a quick dinner with a drink. The waiter was cordial enough, but seemed a bit put off when I asked what he recommended in a a citrus mixed drink. The margarita was okay, but nothing special. We then chose the fresh Alaskan cod fish and chips. It took almost an hour for our waiter to reappear and remark that the order should have been served by now. By this time, several newly arrived patrons had placed orders and been served. He brought our orders and the fish was overcooked and the chips were very soggy, as if they'd encountered a spill? We each ate a few bites of our dinners and felt that somehow there might have been a salt spill in the kitchen? The dinner was not good at all. We asked for the check the next time we saw our server, paid and left. I'd like to think this was a one off type of experience, because this is a convenient location and I'd hoped to like it, but there was really nothing much to like. I hope this was a one off.

Dinner and Beer

By _ju_1919_ |

We had Dinner there a few days ago. We eat Burger and they were very good. The also have a good selection of Craft Beer. I can recommend this Restaurant.

Great bar food

Decent

By smcvan |

This restaurant is still here since the last time we visited Seattle 20 years ago. It has changed, as have we, but it still fit the bill. Food was decent. I had fish tacos and my partner had a burger. Food was as expected, good service, some great beers on tap. Price was decent as well.

Nice Brunch

By micah |

Kids brought us here for brunch on Saturday on our recent visit. I had the baked avocado, which was fabulous, and wife had the eggs Benedict, also great. Nice relaxed location for brunch. Staff was great and value is good for Cap Hill.

Great Neigborhood Eatery

By kjbrownfam |

The Deluxe is a Seattle staple. I've been going here for years and it remains hip, cozy and the food is always great. If you like pool, they have two tables in the back. Wednesday is Burger Rama - not to be missed. Specialty burgers are $8.99 including fries and a drink and 1/4 pound burgers are $7.99. Enjoy!

Decent burger

By ampty2017 |

I got a cheeseburger, and it was just fine. Nothing special. Maybe a little dry, and just nothing to write home about. But it was decent, and I ate it. This place does have a fun atmosphere, and it's a nice place to just sit and talk. The service was good and friendly.

Friendly casual neighborhood corner bar

By Brad M |

Felt like Cheers. We had late night drinks and soup. Full of laid back locals. Nice way to end an evening.

Timeless and comfortable

By Chris H |

After going to the Deluxe for nearly 40 years, we continue to come here on occasion for a nice relaxing dinner or lunch. It has barely changed in those 40 years and I mean that in a good way. It’s comfortable, well maintained and their food is good comfort fare. What you would expect for a bar and grille. They don’t offer their huge Idaho potatoes any longer, people stopped ordering them. But all the other selections are well made, tasty and good portions. Turkey club is a great sandwich! Excellent fries, not wimpy, nice and crisp. Pool tables are available in the back. Great bar, service and neighborhood ambiance. In summer they fold open their big front windows/doors, nice street scene, too.

Great fun on the Hill

By Robin R |

Great fun on the Hill

For the price it is great.

By Osidemike |

We had an early dinner here. The place filled just after 6pm. Friendly efficient service. This is not fine dining. I rated it 5 for a bar and grill in its category. The burgers—I had the mushroom Swiss cheese; my husband had bacon onion avocado—were perfectly cooked and the ingredients fresh. The Caesar salad for an additional $3 was crisp, fresh and tasted like there was anchovy ( a plus for us). Super nachos for happy hour were delicious. The atmosphere is lively and the clientele eclectic (as one would expect in Capital Hill). All in all, a great place for a casual meal. It is one of those go-to places when you want delicious food but don't want to spend a fortune.

Good solid American Food

By Keith O |

We have been here a few times and always get a good meal and good service. The is well stocked and the is always something good on tap! Try Saturday brunch or hamburger Wednesdays .

Disappointing

By x2fr |

I thought I'd take my wife and our toddler there for dinner. After our experience there...I'm surprised both of them still love me! Quality of food and service were terrible. We ordered "salt & pepper calamari"...it was basically like Gorton's Squid Sticks or something insipid like that; just breaded and flavorless didn't taste either salt nor pepper! It couldn't have been more processed! We also had the Caesar salad that's basically smothered with bottled dressing; my wife ordered the prime rib sandwich with au jus...tough meat! I had the Kobe burger, suppose to be medium rare; well, only about one square inch of it, the rest was dry and overcooked. Fries were lukewarm and soggy. I felt bad for our toddler the most, we ordered the chicken strips off the kid's menu for her...she normally loves chicken strips but she pushed this one away after a couple of bites. We discovered why, it was--not exaggerating-- like boiled leather! It was dry, fibrous, and had some terrible charred taste to it! Child Protective Services is gonna come after me for that abuse! All these after more than a half hour wait for our food to finally come. And the service was so erratic, they kept forgetting to get us things like... utensils! I asked for Tabasco as soon as my burger arrived but they didn't bring it until I've already eaten half of my burger! Bottom line...I do not recommend this place; there's better restaurant choices around it.

"Everybody knows your name" bar.

By Nathan H |

This place was barely 2 blocks from our B&B on Broadway East. It seems to be an "everybody knows your name" bar. We had drinks only the first time, and a full lunch the second time. Service was good. Food was about what you expect from a bar with a grill. I had a burger and my spouse had a blackened salmon sandwich. Both were tasty, but there is no way that salmon was blackened. Not at all. Still, it was good. If you're in the neighborhood and need to quench your thirst, you could do worse than Deluxe. (Question: why is everything so expensive in Seattle? We live in a city in Canada that is just a bit larger than Seattle, and meal prices in Seattle are at least twice (sometimes three times) as expensive as home.) When you consider the lower cost of food basics in the US, it just doesn't make sense.)

They used to have delicious fried artichoke hearts. Good burgers and starters.

Efficient bar staff, pleasent atmosphere.

By Michael B |

Just up the hill from our Air B&B in the northern part of Capitol Hill was this nice neighborhood bar. We only ordered cocktails, but it seems to be a very friendly place serving the usual American comfort food. (fries and burgers) The bartender was fast and good at his job, my wife’s old fashioned was exceptional and my well bourbon and seven was not the usual fire water. Relaxing place to sit for a short while after climbing up the hill, as the table seating is comfortable, and with all the windows it’s a perfect place to people watch. Found the art work on the walls interesting, and for sports fans there are plenty of TV up there to watch whatever. For those more physically inclined there are a couple of pool tables. TIP: Good place to start exploring Capitol hill from.

Fresh but fries and some...

By Jim H |

Fresh but fries and some of the finest burgers in the city with a great beer selection and a full bar showing off interesting house cocktails. Appetizers bigger than you so bring an appetite!

Nothing special

By photogal1022 |

Had dinner here because it was close to where we were staying. The food was average. The salmon cakes were dry and overcooked. One of us had the quesadillas and they were good. There are so many choices around that area, I would opt for someplace else.

The oyster poorboy Wow!

By Lemuria9 |

I asked for the oysters to be on regular bread, they accommodated and it was fantastic. Nice red wine. great hamburgers. Cozy atmosphere. I went with a group and everyone loved this place.

My son and I had an enjoyable breakfast at a reasonable price

By Dedgehog |

The online reviews of this place seemed to vary but it was located very near to where we were staying and it opened right when we passed by. My son had the classic Benedict while I had the veggie omelette. Both of us enjoyed our breakfast and I really liked the potatoes that came with both meals. Service was friendly and attentive

Even after coming here for 2 decades, I still love the food and service!

By PatriCanuck |

Broadway on Capitol Hill is one of my "go-to" places for myself, friends and recommendations for great food, some decent cocktail and brew choices. Funky ambiance, great service from staff. Haven't tried everything on the menu, but the fish & chips was some of the best I've had in a long time on either side of the WA/BC border *and* was a good deal! Highly recommended. Please take some time to practice your dance moves as well with the instructions imbedded in the sidewalks throughout Capitol Hill.

Great bar. Even better $4 hamburger night.

Good beer selection and menu varied. Eclectic clientele made for a lively and friendly vibe. Sit at the bar, restaurant table or play pool in the back room.

Good food, decent prices

By Richard C |

Cruising Capitol Hill in Seattle led us to try The Deluxe Bar and Grill. Deluxe might be a bit of overreach, but you might not have many customers if you called it what it is, which is decent. A neighborhood bar with good food and a chummy "Cheers" kind of vibe. I had the grass-fed BBQ burger($9.50) and it was delicious. The fries were hand-cut and very, very tasty, don't pass them up. My date ate the grilled pork chops($14.50) and found them average, but she enjoyed the Mac and Cheese side, as well as the broccoli. What I enjoyed the most was getting decent food in Seattle without paying $$$$. There are a lot of foodies here in Seattle, so many new things to try, but if you are looking for comfort, a decent meal at reasonable prices try the Deluxe Bar & Grill on Broadway.

Great happy hour food prices

By lady58_11 |

No reservation needed. The Deluxe is a neighborhood bar and grill. I had the deluxe burger and a cocktail on the “happy hour “ deal. It was great! Lots of fries come with it. Thee service is swift and pleasant. My friend had a large salad and a glass of wine and was happy.

Our Seattle Go-To

This place is always so reliable. Excellent location, great staff, and the best hangover food in town.

Large Groups Not Wanted Anymore

By Tokengayguy |

Don't spend your money here. Three days before I'm supposed to have a large party here, ownership and management implemented a new group reservation policy and did not grandfather in old reservations. I've now found a new venue for 40+ people and will not be returning to Deluxe. Mainly because their new policy was presented in a non apologetic way and without flexibility. I've also been helping host dinners of 20+ people here for the past 3 months or so and will not be doing that anymore either. It's a shame that management and ownership are terrible, because the staff is amazing (besides the bartender who is always rude to the staff), the food is always good and the restaurant is always clean. I'm very disappointed, and that feeling will not go away for a very long time. With all the restaurant options in Seattle for large groups, Deluxe is not a place I will be spending my money at and I recommend you do not either.

Deserves good rep

By Erin K |

Read about this place in online Seattle Times before our trip (I'm just a little obsessive). Wow, it totally deserves the rep it's got! Food was splendid, served quickly, friendly staff, easy to find. Definitely worth the trip away from the convention area. On-street parking was a little intimidating for us, never seen that type of payment process before, but wasn't too hard to figure out. Maybe there is other parking near the Bar & Grill? Anyway, completely pleased with eating experience. Try it for realz.

First class lunch at low price

By Jonis7 |

Wednesday Burger - Rama was old school burger with sweet potato fries and a drink (I had v-8 juice) for $8.99 - excellent. I was really in the mood for a burger. Charles had an oyster po boy which he rated the best he'd ever had - four big juicy light corn meal coated fried oysters + clam chowder for $11.00. This place has been here for. decades, but feels upgraded. Happy!

Your basic go to place.

By JOHOSeattle |

There is a part of me that loves the Deluxe. I've been coming here off and on since I was 19--I'm 56 now. This place has your basic pub food done well (salads, fish and chip, burgers, etc.) l Almost want to give it four stars but there really isn't anything special and the service can be spotty. So I usually don't bring guests here. That said I'd bring my own family. If you're looking to have a beer, burger, and maybe some pool this is a fine place. I'll be back.

Deluxe Bar and Grill

By Allen E |

Ate here and watched the Sounders game. Good was typical bar food and the beer selection was decent. I would eat here again.

Good bar food and burgers

By Steve M |

An old standby as it's been around forever add if your in the area for a quick bite, this is the place. A good beer selection caps off the lunch! Wednesday is half price burger day and they offer grass fed beef

Nice bar atmosphere

By Beinman |

Went for lunch on a suggestion, good appitizers and the burger was not bad. Our server, the bartender, was excellent. A good place to hang out for the afternoon.

What neighborhood pubs should be: good food, drinks, service and value

By judyjupiter |

This is old-fashioned goodness. Not a "dining experience" but a place to be comfortable with a friend and enjoy tasty food and drink with friendly service. This is how people who live in Seattle enjoy life. Very good eggs benedict for lunch. So much more genuine than the tourist traps. A place to relax.

Good food, slow service

By zinneccm |

Food was good, though very slow in coming. Fun atmosphere!

Perfect Capitol Hill meeting place

By Europhile62 |

We had been to the Deluxe in the late 1980s and we were delighted to see that if anything it had improved. The portions are nice sized, the food delicious, the beer/wine selection extensive. When they have there steak special it is even a great value! It reflects the quirky eclectic flavor of this vibrant neighborhood.

Great Breakfast & Lunch Choice

By Nancy G |

Outstanding restaurant! The ambiance is quiant with lots of windows, the service is outstanding and the breakfast\lunch is fantastic! Located on the corner with easy street paid parking makes this a perfect Capitol Hill breakfast & lunch spot.

Good place for brunch on Capitol Hill

By Alec D |

The Deluxe has been around as long as I've been in Seattle. I went back for brunch last Sunday and it was good. I had the eggs cooked inside an avocado, it's a nice preparation and very tasty. They also have half price burger night on Wednesday which is worth a visit.

Unpretentious and Very Good

By James S |

Dined for lunch several times and found the service and food to be very good. Salads were large and the added Salmon was nicely prepared. Will return!

Some Things Never Change- For a Good Reason

By Bob F |

I have gone to The Deluxe intermittently over the past 4 decades. It has consistently good and well priced bar foods, sandwiches, burgers, homemade soups, and salads. The staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive. There is a large selection of local craft beers, WA wines, and specialty cocktails. The Deluxe is a place you can count on to deliver what it does well. It is a nice friendly and fun atmosphere (can be crowded on nights when they have their all day burger specials- great prices on great burgers though) that is always inviting and that serves late if you need food now and it is midnight.

Wednesday is Burger Night

By Jay J |

We often go for the Wednesday night Burger special- $7 for a grass-fed gourmet burger and fries or salad when you parchase a drink. Truffle mushroom burger is especally delicious, but all the types we've tried have been yummy. Steaks and salads very good, too. Fun place to watch sports games, but the screens don't dominate. Service is always friendly and welcoming.

Super cute little pub

By Jordan Tetreau |

They have a great drink menu and I love how they have the 'roulette' where the bartender picks for you. I ordered and our server just asked what I like and made me something and it was great! The food was also really good and the server was awesome.

Iconic

By Tom H |

After being a regular patron to the Delux Tavern in the 70's, I was surprised to see that the place was still in business. Same location and great, great food. Most people go to the Delux for their hamburgers and steaks but they also have terrific pasta and salads. Although the interior has changed (modernized), the restaurant retained the charm of a great Capitol Hill to to place. Highly recommended.

Maybe best burgers in Seattle?

By Stuart W |

This is a sports bar-cum-restaurant, famous for its burgers. There are many large-screen plasma tv's so that regardless of where you sit you can get a good view of the action. Best to come very early on special days, such as when Seahawks games are being televised, so as to be sure to get a table. And Wednesday is half-price burger day. You can get in at lunch without a wait, but in the evening the place is packed and you might have to wait for a table. Very friendly, prompt, courteous service.Great choice of local micro-brews. Very lively atmosphere.

Friendly bar (not a dive!)

By MDE |

Visited Deluxe two evenings, as it was a short walk from our B & B. Both times we sat at the bar where service was top notch. We enjoyed salads the first evening. The second time we succumbed to happy hour deals ($8 for a cheeseburger and side salad is definitely a deal!) Burger had that delicious chargrilled flavor. I wish I had the bartender’s name. She waited on us September 26 and 27. She’s awesome.

casual

By Lee P |

casual, friendly, bar food kinda place in the capital hill neighborhood. The neighborhood has a very active street scene
