The food was excellent and the service was great, but the pricing is ridiculous. That alone will keep me away. Also, I miss the jazz trio that used to play when it was Bandaras.

Had a great lunch along Michigan Ave. Started off with amazing cocktails. I'm still dreaming of the Cougar juice - a perfect blend of watermelon, cucumber and lemon, so refreshing on a hot Chicago summer day. Food was beyond delicious. I had the roasted half chicken - incredibly moist and flavorful. Huge portion over the most delicious potato puree. Highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

We loved everything about this restaurant. The food at lunchtime was delicious, generously portioned, and very reasonably priced for what we got. Service was outstanding in an elegant but very relaxed setting, in a great part of the city.

This is a great place on Michigan Ave but hidden too. Luckily our server warned us about the large portions. Everything was fantastic, from the service/attitude to the food. Definitely recommend!

One of the best places I’ve tried in years! We ordered several different entrees to split them among the table and everything we tried was delicious. The fish sandwich was a favorite with the lobster roll being a close second. The Yuzu Sour and Old Fashioned were great choices from the drink menu.

The Evie is a hidden gem. The atmosphere gives you that swanky Manhattan feel while making you feel familiar and seen at the same time. The waitstaff goes above and beyond to serve and recommend. The food is outstanding. Everything was memorable. The lavender cocktail, watermelon salad, volcano roll, and French dip were a few of the favorites. We will be back.

I am beyond obsessed with the restaurant. This is my second time going there and it has only been open for a week. The service is top notch and the decor and ambiance is cool, trendy, beautiful and fun. EVERYTHING on this menu is beyond delicious!! Some of my favorites: GRILLED ARTICHOKES, Mag Mile Sushi, Fresh Baked Bread, Signature Prime Rib Dip, Hand Cut Fries, Cornbread! For desert, the Homemade Bread Pudding to beyond incredible! It is the best desert I've ever had. It's warm, creamy, and packed with heavenly flavors! Can't wait to go back for more! You will not be disappointed!

Really cool atmosphere, great view, and lots of menu choices. Jack our waiter was very friendly and made us feel at home. On the fancier side- wear something nice.. but the prices are reasonable. Everything was fresh! Same owners as Wild Berry I guess.

A hidden second floor gem that 100% worth trying. The lobster Sandwich and sushi was impeccable as was the service. Features an excellent atmosphere that is warm and cozy with a modern flare. Staff was super friendly and very attentive.

Truly a wonderful experience from top to bottom. Steak frites were phenomenal and the whole meal was a great value. Hard to find a place to please a large group and there so many amazing options!

For years, Bandera was a culinary fixture on Chicago's Magnificent Mile, a popular restaurant for shoppers that specialized in roast chicken. But it closed in 2000 during the pandemic. In July, 2023, executive chef Phil Rubino, partner George Archos and chef/partner Nick Nitti opened The Evie in the same space at 537 North Michigan Avenue. It features an open kitchen, sprawling dining room, charming bar, a cinematic view of the Mag Mile and a menu filled with reimagined American classics and Chicago favorites, including sushi rolls, fresh baked bread, Chicago-style Wagyu hot dogs and USDA prime steaks. And a great website. Open from 11:30 to 9:30 Monday through Thursday, 11:30 to 10 on Friday, 10 to 10 on Saturday and 10 to 9 on Sunday, the operate a serious business...no hats, flip flops, tank tops or team athletic attire. Too informal and not appropriate. I started with fresh baked bread, a house-made baguette with garlic herb butter and baby gem Caesar salad with parmigiano reggiano and breadcrumbs. For my entree, I chose Lake Superior whitefish with lemon capers butter, roasted garlic and herb crust, smoked carrots and mashed potatoes. Dessert was a treat. But which one? Key lime pie with graham cracker crust and whipped cream? Home-made bread pudding? Banana cream pie? Tres Leches cake? I finally settled on key lime pie. Good choice. How's that for a hard-to-beat lunch?

The Evie is the newest hot spot on Magnificent Mile!!! A definite must-stop if you’re on Michigan Ave. Eclectic menu with a range of sushi, salads, sandwiches, & steaks. We loved the signature roll, spinach & artichoke dip, thai salad, & prime rib dip. Highly suggest stopping here to experience some of the best service in an elegant yet chill atmosphere!

This restaurant came recommended by a friend and it did NOT disappoint for a special date night in downtown Chicago. We were greeted right away and seated in a nice wrap around booth near the windows. We found the decor and overall ambiance to be right up our alley. The music was excellent, not too loud, not too quiet and contributed to the atmosphere very well. Servers are dressed professionally and all were happy to help if your server was not nearby. Our server, Nancy, took excellent care of us paying careful attention to a food allergy. The food, oh my goodness, the FOOD was out of this world delicious. Everything was prepared with perfection. The serving sizes were massive. The quality.....life changing!! The filet melted in your mouth. Yes, the price is high for for their steaks, but expect to be treated to something exceptional when you order it. The cut, the size (large!), the preparation, the plating .....everything was done with perfection. We enjoyed every last bite. We also enjoyed a tasty salad as well as a generous plating of sushi. Everything was incredible!! We highly recommend The Evie for your special dinner out. It was such an enjoyable evening for us. We didn't feel rushed in the least. It is most definitely a very welcoming, enjoyable restaurant with a top notch staff from the hostess, the servers, chefs, and all. We will definitely make this a repeat stop for us when we are in Chicago. Note, that this restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a Michigan Avenue building. The street entrance greets you with a tall pair of escalators to drop you right a the entrance of The Evie. I was a little surprised by this, but being on the second floor also adds to the fabulous ambiance if you can manage to request a table near the window so that you can view the lights and activity along the street. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. I can imagine that there could easily be long wait times for walk-in guests.

One of the best restaurants we dined at in Chicago. The sea bass was amazing, great gem Caesar salad and great wine selection.Impeccable service. One of the owners created us at our table. Highly recommend.

The Evie is a beautiful restaurant overlooking Michigan Avenue. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was wonderful: the restaurant has beautiful local art displayed throughout. The French Dip was delicious. The bread is made in-house and and the results were great. Mag Mile Sushi was wonderful. Artichoke dip was amazing! Key Lime Pie is a must if you are looking for dessert.

I really thought everything was great, whether it was the sushi, salads, or burgers. Everyone had a fun time and enjoyed all the food and service. Great menu variety!!

Amazing restaurant located on the Magnificent Mile! The staff was phenomenal, knowledgeable, and extremely polite. I look forward to visiting again as the food was well above my expectations!

First time visiting Chicago I visited THE EVIE by occasion. I really loved it. Super delicous dinner at the bar. The food has been delivered within shorest time. I really enjoyed the evning here. I will come back as soon as I'm back in town.

The ambiance is superb I highly recommend this restaurant, the food was amazing and the service was fantastic. The sushi is probably some the best I've had, the Signature and Mag Mile roll were outstanding The Rib Eye was cooked to perfection and deliciously seasoned. This new establishment seems to be managed very well, and very well planned out and hits all the points. The staff from the hosts to the wait staff are very knowledgeable and accomidating If your looking to celebrate a special occasion or have a romantic night out or this is the spot to go to

The food was excellent and the service too, great experience in general and a very good option to enjoy dinner in Mag Mile

If you miss Bandara on Michigan, you’re going to love The Evie! They took over the space and brought back all of our favorite Bandara menu items. Service was friendly and if you request a table by the window you can people watch Michigan.

Fantastic food & views of Mag Mile! It is a very nice place, more suited to couples or adults but they accommodated us nicely with young kids (there were maybe a couple other tables with kids). This was a nice light meal compared to heavy Italian dinners we had the rest of our trip. Definitely will go back!

The Evie is a wonderful restaurant and, for the quality of food you get, actually very reasonable. I was desperate for salad since arriving from the UK into Chicago and so I had the Caesar Salad and it was lovely, albeit a little plain but just what I needed after a couple days of high fat and high sugar foods. I’ve already recommended the Evie to friends and colleagues who travel to Chicago regularly.

My wife, daughter, and I went here for lunch during a recent visit to Chicago. Typically, when we go to Chicago, we like to try different restaurants each time, but we will definitely return to The Evie. Excellent service (thank you, Jadyn M), cocktails, and food. I had the Smoking Pistola cocktail. Very creative and very good. My wife had the Hemingway Daiquiri, which she enjoyed, although she commented that I make a better one, not to be immodest. My wife had the house smoked Faroe Island salmon. Our experience has been when we have had smoked salmon (versus lox), that the salmon is dry. This was not. Our daughter had the crispy jalapeno roll, and I had the summer watermelon salad. All were great.

Excellent food and service at The Evie on Christmas Eve! Abigail was our server and she provided outstanding recommendations and service. We started with a few sushi rolls, the Spicy Tuna was our fav! Entrees varied from salads, salmon to the Chicago hot dog, all were excellent. The brownie dessert was over the top and delish. Can’t wait to go back!

Had a spectacular reunion of old friends from Belgium, Japan, Mexico, Florida and Chicago. From the Hostess to awesome professional Server, Paige, we had a great service experience and delicious food (sushi and Thai salad, salmon, etc.). Drinks prepared just right per instructions. Awesome experience. Thanks Paige

Needless to say, everything is expensive today for us in the U.S. and passing by we found ourselves well in this restaurant on the first floor on the street of the big shops in downtown Chicago. Great food, service and speed. Beautiful contemporary atmosphere and with kitchens, traditional and Japanese, both open. If you are in downtown Chicago and want to give yourself a good time I recommend it

We had lunch here in the holiday season, and the place was packed. Our server was attentive and knew the menu well. He recommended Signature Prime Rib Dip and Chili Honey Glazed Salmon, and both were very good. One of us ordered Butter Poached Lobster Roll, and the lobster roll tasted fresh and sweet. Another one of us ordered a set of Suchi rolls and liked the freshness of the fish but was slightly disappointed that the rice wasn’t flavored as typical Suchi restaurants do. The restaurant obviously uses high-quality ingredients and prepares its food carefully.

Holy Smokes!!! This restaurant is amazing. The food is great, fresh, and refreshing. The filet was the best my wife and I’ve ever had. They have this watermelon mint salad that will blow your mind. The wait staff, chefs, hosts, and managers are super friendly and made sure we had a great experience. The parking is easy to get to, and the entrance to the restaurant is very easy to find. The views are great! Right on Michigan Ave (magnificent mile). We can’t wait to go back!

Cocktails were decent and appetizers were very good. The entree's were not as good. Service from Makayla was excellent. The premises are a bit undistinguished.

The Evie Delivered on all points Beautiful decor, and great views of Michigan Ave from the tables up front The service upon arrival and throughout our dinner was top notch everyone was very accommodating and very knowledgeable and were on point with the recommendations that were offered Delicious high quality plates, selection of wines. We tried quite a few of the entrees and one of their desserts, the sushi was amazing, especially The Signature roll, Mag Mile roll and Sashimi Everything was de-li-cious. Highly recommend Will definitely be on our short list of our favorite restaurants to go to

The prime rib steak sandwich was delicious and we had a window seat view. Customer service was exceptional and we would definitely go back again.

Seems like a nice venue with a nice vibe . Shame we sat at the bar being ignored for over 10 minutes. Got up and left … so can’t comment about the food

The food was so good! I loved the sushi and Thai peanut salad. I can’t wait to go back!! Great dining experience

Simply spectacular, from the cozy and intimate interior to the astonishing food and drinks and bringing it all together, high quality service…some of the best that Chicago has to offer. This is a great spot if you have friends and family from out of town that you want to truly wow and also makes for a wonderful date night spot! The Evie is definitely a must-go spot on the mag-mile.

Bandera, a long-time lunch and dinner favorite among Magnificent Mile shoppers, closed during the pandemic in 2020 and never reopened despite having seven years remaining on its lease. So along came partner George Archos, chef/partner Nick Nitti and executive chef Phil Rubino to launch a locally owned, upscale restaurant in the 537 North Michigan Avenue address. The Evie, named for Archos's 14-year-old daughter, offers a menu of American classics and city favorites with an open kitchen, a sprawling dining room, enchanting bar space and a view overlooking the Magnificent Mile. Of course, the big red sign is gone. Open for brunch from 10 to 3 on Saturday and Sunday and regular hours for lunch and dinner from 11:30 to 9:30 Monday through Thursday, 11:30 to 10 on Friday, 10 to 10 on Saturday and 10 to 9 on Sunday, The Evie features freshly baked breads, sushi rolls, Chicago-style Wagyu hot dogs and USDA prime steaks. My wife and I started with a home-made, freshly baked baguette with garlic herb butter, a jumbo lump crab cake with louis dressing and lemon and Baby Gem Caesar salad with parmigiano reggiano and bread crumbs. For her entree, my wife had Lake Superior whitefish with lemon capers butter, roasted garlic and herb crust with spicy broccoli. I opted for a prime filet mignon with garlic, herb butter and pomme puree with creamy coleslaw and smoked carrots. For dessert, we shared a large slice of key lime pie with graham cracker crust and whipped cream and a large slice of banana cream pie with banana custard, shortbread cookies, bananas, cinnamon sugar streusel, whipped cream and salted caramel. Evie, welcome to the Magnificent Mile.

I can simply add mine to the already positive reviews: although I have been coming to Chicago for many years, I have never known this place before. A perfectly relaxed shop where I have already gone for a short lunch twice in a few days and felt extremely comfortable. Simply excellent, simple yet refined American cuisine served in a feel-good atmosphere. Located just off busy Michigan Avenue, you can watch the street from the first floor, superb sandwiches and salad enjoyment, while providing extremely nice and relaxed service, not a matter of course in the immediate vicinity with frequently boring and unfriendly service, this place is really a boon to relax and enjoy for a moment. Simply a recommendation.

The food was awful. Ordered the chicken barely edible. Ordered a mojito sent it back. The service was ok. Not worth the money at all.

Delicious restaurant, a little dark, if you can order near the window for me are the best. Sushi is certainly the best, spectacular and excellent service. They might have more options for digestives, very poor supply.

Such a cool vibe of a restaurant. Decorated very well and very nice/upscale. Our waitress was great and so kind. The fresh baked break was great. I got the crispy chicken sandwich and the waitress let me change it up to fit my liking and it was delicious!!!! The fries that came with it were great. Everyone loved their food. Definitely a place to revisit. Recommend reservations

Don’t go here if you want to control salt. Everything was salty, even the broccoli that I ordered plain. I don’t understand why kitchens pile on the salt instead of realizing customers can add it at the table. Sushi is the only thing customers can order and control salt by amount of soy sauce they use.

Delicious food, great cocktails and attentive service in a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

Have been here twice and loved all the food. Good service. Some seats with a view of the shoppers below. Will be be on my list to return anytime I’ll be shopping in the area.

The food and service are exceptional! Do not miss this beautiful, peaceful place right on Michigan Ave. Hidden gem that just opened and the food is so much better than most you get in touristy areas!

The food, atmosphere, and wait staff were good. The menu is typical and broad. I had a salad with some grilled chicken. My husband had a salad too. Dressing was a bit bland. This place is new and is building up a following.

Nice restaurant full of vibe, nice service and welcoming eith smile. This is our third time here. We came this time with our son before his Marathon run the next day. Usually they seat us by the window but they were all reserved yesterday. We sarted with fried artichoke, it was ok, I don't recommend it because you don't really eat anything from it. Then we shared the dragon sushi, which was delicious and filling. The sushi bite size was large it fill the mouth, mabye if the chef resize it we would be able to enjoy it more. I then had the fried fish sandwich, my son the roatbeef, and my husband had the fried chicken sandwich. For desert we ordered the tre leche. It was ok too. Their sunday desert is better. We will still go back we do enjoy the atmosphere and food. And would like to try other dish on the menue.

Amazing new spot. Delicious food, great atmosphere and un rivaled customer service! Make sure to stop by before they are on a wait!

THE WORST SERVICE EXPERIENCE ON EARTH. I've had better service from street vendors in India than we had here. This restaurant went to great lengths to make sure we had poor service. (I should say I've worked as a waitress, my sister is a chef. I know how restaurants work. This one DOESN'T.) We waited 25 minutes for our "reservation" and then our party was split in two. Our tables then had separate servers (so instead of mandatory gratuity on one table we had it on two tables.) It took almost an hour for half of one table to be served and then they came and told us they'd made a mistake and took our food away. Then they served the whole table about 20 minutes later (making all of us wonder if we being reserved the food they'd taken away.) For those of you playing along at home, we're now almost 90 minutes in. The second table wasn't served for another 20-30 minutes, and only after we complained. We were told that we had two different servers and there was trouble in the kitchen tonight. Our server said "We aren't usually this busy on Sunday." Note to the owners of Evie: ASCO comes to McCormick Place every year, the same week. Restaurants are always hard to book, hotel prices are higher. You should perhaps pay attention to these kind of massive conferences which happen annually. (Again, there's a way to run restaurants.) We were offered free desserts and then charged for them. When we complained the manager told us that he didn't know we were supposed to get free desserts -- the previous manager who was now gone didn't tell him. Add poor communication to this debacle. I hardly need to add that one party got their desserts shortly after they ordered but the rest of us had to wait another 25 minutes until we went and asked where our desserts were. We were told they'd been ordered so they were coming. Then our waitress came and told us the restaurant is closed and "everyone just wants to go home." We were also tired and stuck in some kind of god forsaken limbo waiting for this nightmare to end. My complaint her is not with my server or the kitchen, it's with the abysmal service and the complete lack of respect for us as customers. When we complained about the bill the manager said he "understood" but didn't seem to know anything about our party or the events of the night. Then in act of cowardice, and everyone at both tables noticed this, after the manager talked to us and said he'd take care of the bill he sent the waitress with new bill. We all thought he was too afraid to come back to the table. The food was good and regrettably the front of the house has NO IDEA what they are doing. There are many excellent restaurants in Chicago -- go there -- for example somehow Quartino manages to serve what looks like 100s of people with dozens of small plates without a hitch. They are nice, charming, and efficient. It's loud but at least they seem to care about customer service. Skip The Evie it's not worth your time or money.

Went for dinner with a business group. Right off Michigan Ave., the location is convenient. Noisy-ish interior but not overwhelming. Menu (which reminded me a lot of a Hillstone group restaurant, though this isn't one) was easy to like, especially for a larger party. Sandwiches, salads, sushi, some entrees, nice appetizers. Elevated but not esoteric. Food was good. A whitefish was nicely prepared in a buttery sauce with capers. The kale salad was excellent. Server was super helpful and did a great job with a large party. Hostess also very welcoming. Would definitely return!

I had the opportunity to dine at The Evie recently, and I was very impressed with the food. The food was excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was inviting. I would definitely recommend The Evie to anyone looking for a great dining experience in Chicago.

They have a bit of everything, sushi, salads, burgers and sandwiches (I loved their butter-poached lobster roll), steaks, and more. Everything I've tried seems to be very good, and the service is fast and courteous. Great place.
Beware of salt
Not for people wanting to limit salt intake. The sushi was good- you control your own salt by the amount of soy sauce you use. Everything else was over salted, even the side of broccolini which I ordered plain. Most the desserts contained salted caramel. Service was good, and we liked the vibe, but will not return.
