Cosy, trendy restaurant.

By Adrian W |

The food was so good that we ate there two days in a row. The first night we had burgers and beef Ragu. The generous burgers were done as ordered with tasty fries and reasonably priced at $14. The beef Ragu was flavorful. The beet appetizer, while rather small, was very tasty. The second night we had striped bass, mushroom tart and orange salad. The bass was cooked to perfection, but the mushroom tart was a disaster. The server said it came with flaky pastry and it came with a thick pizza dough pastry. It was tasteless and chewy and over priced. Fortunately, the root vegetable soup that I had with it was exquisite. Service on both nights was friendly and the food came promptly, despite the place being crowded and people waiting. We were not rushed and the friendly manager was going around making sure that everyone was being taken care of. The décor is blah but the place is clean and bustling. We will definitely return.

Good food!

By lola11n |

Our son lives near by, so we have eaten at this restaurant a couple of times. The food has always been very good and the wait staff are all friendly. Try their beet salad or their kale salad. Both are excellent, as are all of the entrees we have tried. It can get a bit noisy, but the food is worth it. One of our favorites!

Delicious and great ambiance

By Michelle H |

We dined at Thanksgiving and though we thought the traditional meal would not be that inspiring, it was quite wonderful! We loved the fact that most of the food is locally sourced. Recommend if you find yourself there for the holiday. Lovely lighting and artwork gave the room a romantic vibe. Just what we wanted for our first Brooklyn dining experience. We also brought our school-aged boys and they were comfortable and enjoyed the farm animal toys as we waited for dinner.

Rushed through my meal, twice

By SS |

This very trendy restaurant in gentrifying Brooklyn has a mean streak. It’s overcrowded, especially for bunch on the weekends, and they had no shame whatsoever in making my and my companions uncomfortable, clearly wanting to seat others, when we were not by any means overstaying our welcome, simply having a second cup of coffee that we paid for after a reasonable meal where we ordered sides, drinks, etc. This happened on two different occasions and I will never go back. Food is good, customer service is rotten!

If you want farm to table food this is it

By Gardoz9 |

Went here with some friends. You should make a reservation as the place fills up quickly. We had the rabbit which was very good, the lamb dumpling in a clear broth which my wife loved. Another friend had the half chicken with he raved about and I had the special Beef Heart which was cooked just right and very good. Service was friendly and attentive and knew their products. Would go again.

Every dish on the menu is awesome - it is definitely worth the trip out to Brooklyn

Bar maybe Restaurant No

By Chanoch S |

I have eaten at the Farm on Adderley 4 times in the last 5 years and it is so disappointing to think that you will get good food. The prices are high and the quality nothing to write home about. The may be a good bar however they should get a good chef that no how to cook. Sorry guys

Yum

Recently had dinner there on a cold and wet Thursday night. It was so welcoming and the food was superb! Jerusalem artichoke soup and bruschetta. Definitely would go back.

SLOW, UNFRIENDLY SERVICE!

By Kerry D |

Visited for dinner on a weeknight with my family, a party of 5. Not a single staff member has any personality. We interacted with 4 different people; a host, our server, and two other people who deliver drinks and food. We ordered promptly but waited about 15 minutes for our drinks, another 30 for 2 appetizers. When the appetizer arrived, they only brought 2 out of 3. I had to flag down our server to ask him about it. He said it would be right out but took another 10 minutes. After appetizers, we waited another 40 minutes for our dinners. Throughout our dinner, our server never checked on us and we sat with empty drinks through our meal. The food was very good but the deathly slow, unpersonable service was enough to make us not go back. There are many better options in the area, including Lea, where both the food and the service are wonderful.

Great menu and great food

This is a jewel in the crown of Victorian Flatbush. In an unassuming local shopping street is this fine dining experience with good, fresh local produce and a down-to-earth yet imaginative menu.

Wedding Eve Dinner

By Hla3452 |

Beautiful dinner with our families on the eve of our son's wedding. Every dish served from appetizers to dessert was to die for, especially enjoyed the chocolate moo use for dessert. Wait staff very helpful about recommendation and the service was impeccable

Good hearty food, good service.

By terry h |

Foods were well prepared and presented. I had cauliflower soup, others green salads. I had flank steak, as rib, steak of the day, was gone that evening. My daughter got the last rib piece. Others had fried chicken. They were all good. Service was excellent. Lighting, little more light may be better. Chocolate moose was good, a little too much serving? I had Sorbet that was like once-melted-then-reiced?, more like crashed ice texture and I didn't care.

Just plain superior

By Jeffrey M |

Our family and friends, ages 3 to 70, invaded after a funeral for the customary decompression time together. The place is quaint; the food is good and interesting; the owner was helpful and intelligent and VERY TOLERANT of four kids under the age of 11. None of us live in Brooklyn, but we would all come back if we were in the neighborhood.

Sweetest BK brunch spot

By Exploration721295 |

Been here a few times and it has never disappointed. I’m almost happy I hadn’t written a review sooner (which I should have) but because my last experience was my favorite yet. I was there for a very short time, but the bartender who h believe was named Cassie (blonde female) was so welcoming and kind. While it shouldn’t be the norm, it is that bar tender can be a little cold if they think you will only be ordering a small amount. Again, exactly what we did. We shared homefries and had a mimosa each. We had actually come straight from another brunch spot which didn’t hit the spot and I remembered how much I loved the home fries here. Anyway, ordered very little and the bartender knew, yet she was so kind and welcoming. Not once did she rush us. There is no doubt we will now make this a more regular brunch spot and we will be sitting at the bar if Cassie is working. Amazing food and service !!!!

Good

By BENJAMIN P |

I love the farm. They have delicious hot dogs and they have very delicious apple cider. They also have free little plastic animals for the kids!

Tasty fresh food and homey atmosphere

By Becky Nao K |

The food was prepared well, not overly seasoned so that you could taste the ingredients. The potatoes were especially tasty. The staff was very accommodating when it started to drizzle and we wanted to move from the patio to a table indoors.

Fantastic brunch spot

By stella8888 |

Love this place. I was there for brunch with two other adults, one small child and a toddler, and ALL of us were happy with the place. We adults appreciated the well-made cocktails and sophisticated taste of the food (honestly, there isn't much one can do to make brunch food sophisticated without being fussy, and the Farm did it just right), and the kids loved the chocolate brioche (not too sweet, thankfully). We all appreciated the attentive and efficient service even when the place was packed and the line was a mile-long. Very happy with this neighborhood joint!

Awesome Little Spot

By Thursty T |

The neighborhood is really thriving and this addition was just what was needed especially since Picket Fence, a neighborhood fave, recently shuttered. The place gets pretty packed, but the wait is never too long and the service always friendly and fast! They have a cute little outdoor space and brunch on weekends (huge portions at a reasonable price).

My absolute fav in the hood.

Expensive for average food

By dreamgenie |

While the decor is homey, the food is just OK--nothing outstanding. I was here for brunch and ordered the smoked pollack cake topped with a sunny-side up egg. For $11 it was a pretty small portion and not remarkable. The pollack was a bit dry and the egg just a bit overdone. The Farm Spritz cocktail was fine--my friend and I had two each, bringing the tab to $43 each, including tax and tip--expensive for an average brunch. The noise level gets pretty loud when it's crowded--we were there over July 4th weekend, so it wasn't as packed as usual. I think this place is popular due to not much competition in the neighborhood, as I wasn't overly impressed. But it's fine for a standard brunch. Show up early (before 11) to avoid the usual long lines for brunch in Brooklyn.

been there only once... apple french toast was the beessst..... will return for that oh and to try their dinner menu...

Romantic dinner

By Viktoryia K |

We have an anniversary of our wedding and we wanted to celebrate in a quiet place. The Farm On Adderley was absolutely the right choice. The interior is very elegant and classic. Good place if you want a quiet dinner and talk. The menu has good choices of vegetables and meats. We have ordered butter squash soup, duck breast and rabbit - all was very good. I liked spices selection a lot. Definitely recommend!

A Bit Down on The Farm

By theelephantman |

We came here with a family group of 10 on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. This is one of the many "Brooklyn Revival" establishments in this area. They give you plastic farm animals, but other than that it has little to resemblance to a farm. The menu was a bit short on depth and the portions were small. For this type of place, my Farm scrambled egg dish ($10) with yellow colored tasteless bread was nothing to write home about. My daughters spaghetti squash(?) pasta entree was OK but she complained about portion size. The place has that antique look with old well worn wooden floors, the service was O.K. and friendly, and it appeared that have a decent following in the neighborhood but I'd like to check out some of the neighboring establishments before making a return appearance.

The Farm on Adderley

By Vidhi |

I found the food a bit pricey and overrated. The ambience and service is nice. There are not many options for vegetarians.

Nice eclectic place

By GregR11235 |

Interesting menu, slightly off main-stream, sort of island/continental, i guess. Good service, sometimes a long wait on a busy evening (place is somewhat small). Good food.

Very nice restaurant

By XBoneIP |

We visit Brooklyn 3 times a year to see our daughter and family. Every visit, we take the time to eat at The Farm on Adderly. Unlike some others, we've never had bad service. We've always been greeted promptly and graciously and tonight was no different. Excellent service throughout the meal. We ordered Martinis and Felipe, our waiter, suggested a small batch gin from Vermont that we had never heard of. It was great and a nice change from the standard national brands. Our salads and pre meal bread were brought promptly and were excellent. I had the spinach and my wife had the beet salad. The bread is almost like cake and is served with olive oil. We both ordered the steak special. It was Cooked as ordered, perfectly medium rare, with a delicious wine reduction sauce over a bed of spinach sautéed with alight taste of garlic. Finally, we had the homemade apple custard cake with vanilla bean gelato which was very good, not overwhelmingly sweet. All in all, an excellent meal with great service on a beautiful day on their outdoor patio. I guess you could say we liked it, lol. Oh yeah, as another's reviewer noted, the chairs aren't all that comfortable.

Tasty dishes in cozy neighborhood environment

By Henry B |

This restaurant has a rather small menu but everything we've ever eaten here has been delicious and well-prepared. The bread they bring you before the main course is delicious as well, hot and buttered. I used to like the chicken breast but lately this has been missing from the menu.

Nice neighborhood restaurant

By WayfaringStranger7 |

Recently went to The Farm on Adderley for dinner with several friends. There was a small but select menu and I really enjoyed the green tomato gazpacho as a starter. I had the tagliatelle with peas and pea greens for an entree. Although tasty, I felt the portion size was a bit small. I'm not one for large portions but it seemed for the ticket price of $18, they could have put a few more noodles on the plate. Service was friendly and attentive. A nice place to have dinner, but overall, given the great choices of restaurants in Brooklyn, I wasn't entirely blown away.

Always Leave A Little Disappointed

By tylerdeanking |

I always give "The Farm" another try and always leave wanting more. The options are minimal and the cocktails are always really weird, sometimes undrinkable. The burger is always good, but the other dishes are small and for the price I seem to always leave hungry.

Great Place in Up and Coming Neighborhood

By Foodblogger |

Visited restaurant in June 2013 with my son and his family. He is a fireman in Ditmas Park area down the street from this delightful place. A great find in an unexpected place. I don't live in New York anymore and remember this neighborhood from years ago as being rather drab and sketchy. An influx of young families and people seeking less exorbitant digs have caused this neighborhood to attract some talented chefs. This one is a great example. The servers were friendly and efficient. The wine list is not ironic (I hate that term and only use it to indicate that even Bourdain would be welcome here). I'm sure they have the best french fries (with curry mayonnaise) in the world. And in a world that is over inhabited by french fries, that's saying something. Where they are normally considered an aside, here they are an experience in and of themselves. Lest one think that FFs are the main draw, dig into grilled squid, crostini, roasted chicken, butcher's meatballs at the very least. Everything fresh and mouth-watering. Their bread is to die for. Can't wait to go back.

Perfect spot.

By esbNewtonMa |

This is the perfect spot if you are a parent in from out of town taking your Brooklyn-based young adult out for brunch or lunch. Comfortable vibe, not too trendy, excellent food, pleasant service. Lucky strike extra are the pretty and clean bathrooms. Notables: home fries (I never like home fries. Ever. But I can't get enough of these.) Grapefruit soda is refreshing. Omelettes delish. Chicken schnitzel with an egg on top - pure decadence. The table in the front window is a great place to sit and watch the Ditmas Park world go by. Check out the Dollar Store 2 doors down. Seriously.

Average restaurant

By BiologyBY |

This is a solid average place. Starting with decor: average! Nice outside area which is lovely gets downgraded to average by quite uncomfortable seats. Menu selections are ample but nothing particularly interesting, all..... yep, average. Same goes for main courses. Staff is pleasant but but can't say they are very friendly or unfriendly. Price is acceptable for quality although they definitely need to step up types of dishes or decrease the price for the average dselection they have. I would probably go back if I happened to be nearby but wouldn't make a trip to visit the place

Terrific food and reasonably priced!

By Memphisthecat |

The Farm is THE spot in Ditmas Park, but really it's worth a travel from elsewhere in Brooklyn or Manhattan (or WHEREVER!). The food is delicious - very market fresh, and the service is always extremely friendly. But the thing that gets me about this place are the prices. For amazing, locavore-type market fresh food it is ridiculously reasonably priced. I think my shrimp & grits at brunch there were about $8 or $9. I often compare this place with Stone Park Cafe in the Slope, in terms of type and quality of food (not price), but the Farm is definitely more laid back... Definitely eat here!

Just short of great

By iberjan |

I'll start by saying that I like this place and that I'm sorry that I can't give it the excellent rating. The menu is small and seasonal and yet they seem to run out of things - regularly and this can be quite frustrating. Add to that service is a little spotty - OK, more than a little, and it loses that fifth star. On the flip side, the menu and food are very good and not unreasonably priced. They have a nice, albeit somewhat crowded, back yard and the interior is fairly typical nouveau-Brooklyn and nicely done.

Excellent fresh food served with a smile

By b812 |

Was feeling adventurous and headed to southern brooklyn to the Farm on Adderley - wow I'll be going back there! An amazing restaurant. Wonderful fresh food, prepared with love (A bit too much butter and salt for my tasting), great staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend for good organic food at great prices.

Vegan options available

Wanted a peaceful Sunday brunch. Vegan request accommodated. Great for family multi-generation outings.

Burger and Fries

By BlayneAdeline |

This restaurant is close to where i stay .Have had many good meals .My favorite is the burger with cheese--thick and juicy--prepared medium rare as i like. French Fries are homemade and outstanding. Good beer list .Nice wine selection .By the glass you can have 5 or 10 ounces

Nice people, nice vibe, good food

By HistoryDude14 |

This place is nice for brunch as it has that farm to table vibe. Had the Farmer’s breakfast. The sausage was interesting. One of those things where I couldn’t tell if I hated it or loved it. Worth a try. Other than that, food was good, staff was very nice and helpful. Only down side is that they serve Brooklyn Roasting Coffee (so bitter).

Permanently closed.

By L T |

Ate here many times -- was fantastic. The food was always perfectly cooked and presented, with the freshest ingredients. Alas, they closed July 2022.

Decent but Overpriced

By Matthew Q |

The Farm on Adderley has a very pleasant atmosphere and the wait staff is generally attentive. I'm afraid that is where the positive experience ends. The menu lacks choice (only 4 entrees), the food struggles to be average and the prices offensively high for what you get. Despite its recent popularity, there are better choices on Cortelyou Road such as Purple Yam, a few doors down.

Brooklyn Brunch Bunch

By Stephanie M |

Took the girlfriends to Brooklyn for an amazing brunch at this VERY popular spot. No wonder it's popular...the service and food are superb. For suburbanites like us, a crowded diner comes close to the buzz this place has. The french toast with apples, the egg sandwich and the farm breakfast were our choices and each of us oohed and aahed over the freshness and quality of preparation. Yes, we had to wait 45 minutes after leaving our names with the hostess, but I would do it again and again. You will not be disappointed. Hang out and talk with your friends as you anticipate a true farm-to-table experience.

Beware of inedible specials

By EJS S |

Both the food and the service have gotten a lot worse. The last time (and we are not going back!) that we had dinner there we were, without any warning from the waitress, served some half-cooked, incredibly spicy peppers that burnt my mouth and ruined the rest of the meal. When we complained they gave us a half serving of the least ordered side dish (Brussel sprouts, I kid you not) to make up for it. Thank you very much for your generosity, The Farm!

Yawn...

By jt702016 |

I thought this place was great. In 2005. Eleven years later, it just sorta sits there like an old tire behind a chicken coop. Eventually weeds and moss will cover it and everyone will just forget about it. If you live nearby, eat here. Give it a shot. But don't adventure away from your comfort zone to test its waters. Let's dig into the positives: Farm fresh ingredients. The vegetables and herbs are definitely noticeably different. You can taste the local flavors. The meats, not so much. Like I stated earlier, a decade ago my mouth waters with their flank steak and fries, even their burgers. But now it's so-so. The steaks, and I've had my fair share of them here, are frequently cooked incorrectly. The burgers are always undercooked. If you like it well-done, which I do not, then you will be disappointed for the most part. Their menu changes with the season, and while this is mostly a good thing, sometimes it just doesn't work. You basically get what they grow. Better restaurants have closed shop in Brooklyn and other boroughs, but The Farm keeps on truckin'. Are they adaptable or invincible? Hard to say. They are, in actuality, one of just a few options in the area. So that's something. I will say this: Their revolving cocktail menu is decent. Creative infusions, strong, a punch to the palate. But you're really not there to drink, are you? Maybe you are. I don't know your proclivities.

Pricey

By turist_from_NYC |

We were part of big group. Therefore, we had a chance to try everything. Skip steak and chicken (below average). Go for burger and appetizers... Get a bottle of wine (dry, $45-$55)

Delicious and great service.

By brooklynnw61 |

The food, drinks and service are all excellent. They know how to make each dish unique yet not fussy. Tasty food prepared well & always a couple dishes for vegetarians.

Disappointing

By bklynguy |

Farm on Adderley is a popular place with outdoor dining. Staff are very nice but unfortunately, the eggs came out barely warm and the chicken schnitzel was warm, dry and not the best quality. Nice wine selection but expensive for the little they give. Coffee expensive, I think $4.00 and it wasn't that good. Just a very disappointing experience and will not go back.

Best Brunch in BK

By teambk |

My husband and I checked this place out for their famed brunch. The menu is inventive on some classic brunch dishes i.e. Red Flannel Hash- red potatoes, corned beef & red beets, sunnyside egg (i changed to poached), beet mustard, salad. This was one of the most delicious hashes I have had in a while the mix of the sweetness of the beets with the smokeyness of the meat hit the righj spot. Also most breakfast joints don't know how to make a poached egg properly, not The Farm. Every poached egg that I saw come out of the kitchen was perfectly cooked not wet at all and with a beautiful golden runny yolk. We had a side of the curried french fries (amazing crunch with nice potato texture with curried mayo-mmmmmmm) and the cheddar grits (not your normal fine/smooth grits, these have a heartier stone ground texture) I could have just had a bowl of these they were unreal! We ended the glutoneous meal off with a chocolate banana upsidown cake that was buttery banana with a dark chocolate cake base that did not over take it. Definitely worth the trip! Remember this is a popular brunch spot so either get there early or late so you don't have too long a wait. We opted for the bar which was perfect and the bartender was very nice. FYI- very interesting liquors stocked so I would venture a guess that they make a decent cocktail.

Breakfast like you never have at home

By Linda C |

I have only had breakfast here but wow, what a breakfast! One trip was the poached eggs on polenta - perfectly poached and a delightfully surprising great combination - very creamy. Next trip it was the scrambled eggs with cheese and caramelized onions. The sausage and bacon are wonderful and feel like real meats instead of greasy afterthoughts. I had never had a chocolate laced bread with rough kosher-style salt before and it was also delicious. Very nice atmosphere in the back and service is always with a smile even when dealing with the crowds on the weekend.

Hip Locale for the Brooklyn Adventurist

By annmelissa |

This attractive and perfectly laid back place on Cortelyou near Coney Island Ave is what it means to see what's going on these days that makes Brooklyn the internationally "hot" spot it now is. Fresh interesting menu, good wine list and a wait staff that gives gracious urban service. I have only had late lunch there, but the herbivores among us will appreciate the broccoli...do get this. Next weekend I am taking my Manhattan friend there for dinner so we can sit under the great white tent near the birch and massive trunk of some unidentified tree off the cozy back porch/patio. Both meat eaters and vegans should enjoy this place equally.

Brunch is amazing.

By Andreainalberta |

Came by with some friends for brunch on a beautiful Sunday. Wait was 45mins for 4 people so we grabbed coffees next door at qathra and enjoyed the sun. When we got inside, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and brimmed with people of the neighborhood. We were seated in the back garden which is beautiful. A quick peruse of the menu showed an omelette, burger, adult grill cheese, porridge, fish cake, kale salad, hash, sausage and eggs, French toast, as well as many sides, including the infamous chocolate bread. We ordered the chocolate bread to start, then the omelette, adult grill cheese, sausage and eggs, and kale salad. All were perfectly served and didn't even need a dash of salt or pepper. Well worth the wait.

Reliable and beautiful

By opullara |

This is our neighborhood go-to spot for a drink, a snack, or a meal. The space is beautiful, staff well-trained too attend to every detail, and the seasonal menu is top notch. We are never disappointed.

Nice

By Eva T |

We liked this place ok. Because there were four of us we were not allowed to make a reservation, but when we arrived we were seated right next to the bathrooms and in a spot where everyone was running past. Thanks a lot..! The food was just ok - maybe meat eaters love it, but our vegetarian dishes were just so so. A little bland? The bread and desserts were very nice though. There was a confusing number of waiters who seemed to be responsible for our table.

The food was so delicious ...

By EowynTravels |

A foodie friend recently moved to Brooklyn and highly recommended this place to meet for dinner. The highlight for everyone was the Kale Salad! Everything we had was very good but I STILL think about that salad. One of my friends even mentioned on FaceBook that the salad was the highlight of all the food we had on our long weekend in NYC. I also had the Striped Bass which was yummy! My three friends had the Pappardelle and cleaned thier plates. This place was so impressive that our foodie friend is thinking of having her wedding dinner here.

Overpriced for the Quality

By DancingCarl |

My wife and daughter are big fans, but in my opinion the price is high for OK (not great) quality and fairly boring food.

The best spinach salad we had ever eaten

By nomadicfour |

great imaginative food, I wish we had The Farm in Seattle!

Local, seasonal, creative

By MIchelle D |

Food is all seasonal and local -- so very fresh. Each dish shows creativity and the flavor blends are very interesting, creating a true dining experience! The menu changes frequently. We did not have the same staff experience expressed in other reviews. We had a part of 3, and one of us had eaten already, so only wanted dessert. Staff were very accommodating.

Food is good but small portions..

By Riggy R |

The portions are so small (for any adult) that if you don't order a side you will probably leave hungry. I'm not the only one out of a party of six who thought so, it was unanimous.. Also it is cramped when the place is full, the tables are too close together. The draft cider and black hog ale listed under 'drafts' were not available, with no substitutes available. Speaking of substitutions, there are none allowed on the dinners. If you don't like kale or are allergic to something it can be removed from your plate, but you will need to order a side for its replacement. Also, the mandatory 20% added tip to parties of six or more is simply excessive. None of us stayed for dessert, we were heading to a show, but everyone said they wouldn't have had dessert here anyway. Food, decor and drinks and service were very good, unfortunately none of our party would return here again due to the aforementioned issues. We truly 'bought' the farm on this one.

Excellent Neighborhood Restaurant

By Ajay L |

As others have said, the food here is local and fresh, and uniformly well prepared. Food quality and preparation are generally excellent, but portion size can vary and a few dishes stray from being memorable to merely good. Fish was outstanding on one occasion, but overcooked the next. The cocktails are creative and well put together, especially the specialty cocktails, and the wines are excellent and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is informal but comfortable. The servers are knowledgeable about the restaurant offerings, tending toward the professorial, but read on. The reason I did not rate this five stars was a troubling incident of getting a check that was about $100 higher than it should have been. It was not a mistake of having been given a check for another table, but rather it included doubles of some items, including two, rather than one, bottles of wine. Mistakes can happen and the check was corrected, but perfunctorily and without an apology. Normally a mistake of that magnitude would warrant something more.

I was not impressed

By ChristieMcManus |

My son and I went there for lunch. He has been there many times before, but it was my first time. My chicken was extremely overcooked to the point where I could not eat most of it. His fries were also very overcooked as was his burger, which he had requested rare. The veggies were good, particularly the sugar snap peas. Watercress salad was OK.

Consistently exceptional

By Rob C |

An infrequent but always delicious stop for us in Brooklyn , Farm on Adderly came through again.Although the menu had limited options for those who don’t eat red meat or chicken both the rainbow trout and the barley risotto were excellent. The peas and corn that accompanied were tasty as was the radish on the spicy salad. Looking forward to the next occasion we can stop here.

Food good Service Bad

By Linda H |

The food however does not make the service ok- not just bad- upsetting condescending dismissive. We finally took our food to go and bought our second bottle of wine at a wine shop and ate in our room.

Amazing food, esp. for the ethical eater in us all.

By SunbeamTraveler |

The farm was a great place introduced to me by a friend who lives in the area. She swears by it and from the experience that I had, I would have to agree. Although it was a little pricey, if you "believe" in eating locally and ethically harvested food, this is your spot! The burger that I had was amazing and flavorful and the veggies were fresh and bright. My vegetarian/gluten free friend was also well satisfied and the server/cook were happy to adjust. For the "socially aware of us", this is a must and also a delight for all!

Not like it used to be

By Kidzot |

We have been coming here for years. Suddenly staff changed and today they gave away our table right from under I ur noses. I asked host if kitchen changed and he got all defensive and snooty. Food is not what it used to be so kitchen staff must have changed as well as service staff. I will definately skip this place from now on and you should too. From a place that once probably had some of the best fries in the city, today they were grainy and not crunchy. The food seems to be hastily and lazily prepared.

great meal!

By cbl60 |

I visited the Farm this last Saturday at the advice of my son; we had a wonderful meal. I had the burger -- sounds like nothing special, right? Not so! Amazing, well prepared. My son had the chicken, and his friend a pasta dish. Great food all around, tremendous service, great vibe. It's not super-formal, but high quality food, well prepared, in a lovely space. Highly recommended!

don't be in a hurry

By Larz V |

,,,,yes service is slow, to approach you, and be prepared to wait after you order. The usual collection of millenials and hipsters (both serving and being waited on). The food is ok but I did not think anything special. We sat outside which was pleasant enough, as the inside was pretty crowded. There are many places at which you could dine in this area, and I am not sure I'd return here.

great food and service in an unexpected place

By freedshop |

Our daughter recently moved to Brooklyn and suggested this place for dinner when we visited. I had my doubts because of the location and the fact that our daughter eats a mostly vegan diet. But she assured me that my husband and I would find food we liked, and she was right. Although it does have several vegetarian choices, it also has steak, burgers, chicken, and fish. I had the steak and my husband had the pan-roasted skate, and both dishes were delicious, as was our daughter's vegetarian dish (something with squash, I think). We also shared a tasty cauliflower soup and a couple of desserts--I don't remember which ones but they were very good. The service was very friendly and attentive (although I did have to ask them twice to bring ice for my water--for some reason it was served without ice). The dining room was very pleasant, with a warm and welcoming feel. It's not a very big place and after 6:30 or so it was packed with a wait. Only complaint about the setting is that there is only one bathroom (unisex), and not a lot of room to stand outside the bathroom to wait. The meal was quite expensive, especially with wine and one cocktail, but not out of line with Manhattan restaurants. It was worth it for an occasional splurge, and we would go back there again next time we visit.

Great brunch place

We went there for Sunday brunch, and the place was packed!! Luckily got a table soon after, but would have recommended making reservation for weekend brunches - people continued to arrive well into lunch time. The food were really good. Friendly services, and great atmosphere.

Nice Food average service

By Nicolas_Arodes |

Cozy atmosphere, nice simple selection for lunch and good quality. If they can improve a little bit on the service that would be nice.

Trendy restaurant with disappointing menu choices

By J G |

The restaurant tries to be fancy and trendy, but we found the menu choices very limited. Portions were mediocre, taste was ok but not extraordinary. All in all a little overpriced. Service was friendly and fast. Atmosphere is nice, although we had a table with a lot of "traffic" passing by.

Such a dissappointment

By MattyIce58 |

This restaurant had been recommended to us, especially for breakfast/brunch. Sadly our first visit was dinner. The menu was under-whelming to say the least. Then a few of our entrees were served luke warm. The service was adequate; unfortunately when the food is substandard, your perspective on service is impacted. We will give it one more shot in the future; however this time we will stick with brunch.

The Farm is fabulous

By Erin O |

This is my favorite restaurant in NYC. Although I live in Manhattan, I frequently travel to the Farm for brunch and dinner. The menu is varied, the prices are fantastic and it has the most diverse customer base I've yet to see - from multiple races that seem to come from an eclectic background in a very friendly atmosphere. Love the mix of ingredients - farm fresh from local farms - used in the dishes.

Fresh lunch with a creative twist

By Heather W |

While I agree with another reviewer that our waitress was less than amazing..as in our food came before our drinks, but I love the creative twist on lunch with natural foods, even the burgered ordered was of an " I can eat 2" variety. Mmm!

wonderful dinner on the patio with friends

By SND139 |

Our first visit to the restaurant and loved it. We shared the snap peas with ramps for the table and they were excellent. Had the french fries, of course and satisfied all of our french fry cravings. I ordered the polenta and fried egg with eggplant caponata, the portion was large and it tasted great. Our guests had the kale salad and enjoyed it a lot. Had the salted carmel topped chocolate cake and a wonderful surprise with tthe warm carrot cake. Nice wine list and beer choices.

Small menu, but excellent choices.

By SuzzyG24 |

One perk of having a smaller menu is that almost all of the dishes are delicious. This was no exception at the Farm. The kale salad is amazing and a must try! Don't miss out if you are in the area.

Good food and service!

By Vel122 |

I guess restaurants especially can have good and bad days as seen by some of these reviews. Lucky me I was there on a good night as my food was really delicious and the service was fine - not overly attentive, just enough. I had a grilled Mahi Mahi with a light ginger sauce, pumpkin mash, sauteed greens, roasted garlic and tangerine slices. I think the greens garlic, ginger were locally produced. i appreciate that. Plus, they were easily able to handle my gluten free diet. I will certainly go again and would recommend it!

A deja vu disaster!

By PukkaWorld |

We met another couple here Sunday, June 22, 2018 for a pre-show dinner. A big storm slowed our friends down a tad so I had to convince the nice hostess to let us go to the table and order a bottle of wine while we waited for our friends, who arrived about 15 mins later. By then the tasty dip with chips and a small salad we ordered with the wine had arrived. I think I've mentioned it before in reviews and I will again because this system of not seating guests until all have arrived, is so rude and elitist, and that in 17 years of managing restaurants, I think I experienced maybe 2 times where some of the guests couldn't make it so we had to move the ones that made it to another smaller table and if they canceled outright we always managed to use the table eventually, so not a single loss in 17 years. Get over it paranoid, cheapskate restaurant owners! Anyway, our show was at 8 pm and we were all ordered by 6:40. Then we waited, and waited more and then some more, and nothing? The waitress apologized once blaming it on the kitchen but tables that came after us got their food which can indicate a forgotten or late order, on the server's behalf. At about 7:30 pm, 50 mins after ordering, we were told our meals would be out in 7 minutes giving us about 10 mins to "enjoy" our meal before running off in time to catch our show. We had a vote and decided to cancel the meal and get something after the show which they wee good about and compted our second bottle of wine. I would like to have thought our experience was an isolated incident but it was then we remembered our first experience here one year before almost exactly when we were also totally forgotten, service wise as were our meals! That time we had waited about 40 mins and when we finally got hold of a waiter they came back sometime later to tell us they had on run out of one of the two meals we had ordered! We gulped the one plate they had down and ran off late to our show. That time we also got gypped on their "special" of ramps which, when it finally arrived, was 3 stringy shreds of chewy grass for $16! If a place can't handle pre-dinner shows then they shouldn't offer it. The pleasant but not very attentive wait staff were apologizing left, right and center the entire time we were there. Cannot recommend.

Worth the wait!

By ZeeWee |

This is a gem and definitely worth the wait on a Saturday or Sunday. The food is fresh and the quality is superb! I've never, ever liked brussel sprouts and our waiter talked me into trying this as side dish. Wow! I didn't regret it at all, they were amazing! But a must try is the toasted chocolate brioche bread with a bit of sea salt sprinkled on top...my daughter are still talking about it! My husband absolutely loved his breakfast with trout. I thought that the prices were in line with NYC prices. The service was better when we went on a weekday when it wasn't so busy. The service otherwise was good...not stellar...good. This is a must try when in Brooklyn!!

So disappointed

By lighthouse1378 |

I hesitate to give a bad review of this restaurant as I am only talking about one dish, but I went back to the Farm this evening and was looking forward to a salad that I have had several times in the past. I visit Brooklyn from Florida whenever possible, and always look forward to my favorite salad, and can not believe the difference in the Bibb Lettuce and Fresh Shelled Pea Salad...there is no comparison to the salad that I have always enjoyed...first of all, it was not Bibb lettuce, the dressing, instead of the amazing buttermilk dressing that was served before, was bland, the peas were hard, and the shallots were missing. In other words, for $9.00, I was given huge pieces of lettuce, and little else.

Great Breakfast Place

By laceandwit |

Sausage is outrageous - not fatty. My husband liked the salmon omelet. My son had French Dip sandwich and liked it. Side salad is quite tasty - delicious dressing. I was very impressed with the attentive service.

Nice but expensive

By Lorna M |

Nice little restaurant on Cortelyou. Small garden area with a lot of seating, we sat right inside the garden area so still had the breeze. The menu was fine, but quite expensive. My husband had the lamb dumplings and was hungry after-not served with any side just 3 small dumplings in a broth. I had the burger which was fine but I don’t think worth the price. Overall just an average meal for us.

great thanksgiving fare

By Nancy B |

A bit pricey but very good. Small but has friendly ambience. The chocolate bread pudding was divine and the red cabbage salad was unique but tasty

Delightful

By Red B |

Loved the cold corn and leek soup. The bread was delicious. The hamburger with cheddar bacon and tomato (every item a la carte for $5) was Devine. This is my second time here. The draft beer was very good.

Yep

Cocktails are fabulous AND they made me like Brussels sprouts. Outside dining out back is intimate and relaxing. Wish I was there.....

A little gem, especially for vegetable lovers

By Noe12 |

a little restaurant with great art work on the brick walls very sensitive and accommodating service reasonable prices exquisite combination of seasonal tastes with a great variety of delicious vegetables desserts oddly served, small portions large portions but still delicious, especially the almond, blueberries, and vanilla- all in one! This little place is really worth a detour for the culinary treat.

Good, Not Great

By thedailyguru |

Just because it's the one solid restaurant in the area doesn't automatically make it a great place. While the food was enjoyable, I just can't see myself heading back to this place...even if it is only a few stops from me on the subway. The staff was quite agreeable, and they had a very solid knowledge of the menu options and what was not available that evening. The food itself was good, but when compared to the price, it simply does not compare to what can be had elsewhere at a similar price point. Also, the place is rather cramped, even by New York City standards; as there are even 2 or 3 tables that are pretty much right in the main "foot traffic" of the place the entire time. If you're in the area, the food won't disappoint you, but as a local, there are MANY options within a reasonable distance that offer far more for the money.

Wonderful eatery!!

By cpdexterhaven |

This resturant was recommended by a friend who lived in the neighborhood. It is a gem. The wait staff was attentive. The menu very interesting, the food beautifully prepared and presented at very resonable prices. We selected a wine from the wine list and they were out of it, but the sommelier (if he would go by such a fancy title) recommended another which was wonderful with the meal - and charged the lessor price of our first choice. In all ... it was an excellent evening.

Good food but pricey

By yenny f |

The farm is a brooklyn neighborhood restaurant with good food and service but with identity issues in terms of prices (Manhattan prices).

Amazing!

By Lidolover67 |

Wonderful modern cuisine, ultra friendly staff, superior wines and cocktails... and such good fun! All our favourites are on the menu: cheese and meat platters, salads and avocado dishes! We visited a couple of times whilst on holiday in Brooklyn and N.Y. Wow! It's wonderful! What a find! Trendy decor and unusual, creative cuisine locally sourced and home made. Try their Whey Jam!! Incredibly delicious!! Thank you to Maggie and Sophie who looked after us So well! You're fab!!

Wonderful meal!

By Andymarian |

We had a delicious dinner here before a show at the Kings theater which is in close proximity to the theater, We were beyond impressed with the food, my husband had the Cod which he described as having great flavor and texture, deliciously flaky. I had a simple burger that was absolutely delish! Served with yummy hand cut fries. Also a plus, great cocktails and a very nice Cab franc by the glass. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to come back here!

Unique dishes and fabulous flavours

By KAWJuba |

Not a huge range of veggie options at this farm-to-table restaurant in the lovely Ditmas Park area of Brooklyn but that does not detract at all from the fabulousness of this place. The kale salad starter was nice, but it was the roasted squash with pickled blueberries and polenta chips that just blew my mind! Then to top it off, the chocolate mousse was perfectly complemented by a salted cream...yum! Service was excellent and it was obviously a family friendly place judging by the number of children in the restaurant. Would thoroughly recommend. Oh, for the non veggies out there, there were loads of great sounding meat dishes. And if you're in the mood for something sparkly, there is a great New Mexican sparkling wine on the menu.

The promise of great food, but extremely salty

By Puck55 |

Friendly staff, nice ambience. The outside terrace looks like a great place to enjoy a meal on warmer days. We did not make reservations and did not have to wait at all before we were seated. The food was not so great however. For a starter we shared the tempura of eggplant, unfortunately tasteless.. The Farm burger was tasty, as were the fries, but these were extremely salty. The ribeye steak was really good meat, however completely ruined by the salty salty salty sauce on top. It was lip creaking salty, which was really a disappointment, since the meat was really tender and of good quality. It felt like the chef smokes heavily. The asked for wine advise from the waitress. She was friendly and helpful, but the wine she recommended was not good at all, slightly sour even, and did not complement our dinner. We skipped dessert, and cannot comment on it. In all, it's a nice place, but we think The Farm can improve, since the ingredients were good!

Beige.

By drinkswhiskey |

I was visiting my cousin who lives in Brooklyn. He likes this place so took me there. The drinks and food were "fine", nothing great, not horrible, but I would definitely pick somewhere else next time. We shared some roasted veg as an appy, he had the bass, I had the steak feature, then we split a dessert that I can't even remember what it was. Pretty beige and forgettable meal all around. Have to say the service wasn't great, overly long gaps between courses and we saw more of our busser than we did our server as she seemed to disappear for really long periods at a time.

Overpriced Small Portions ...don't bring your appetite

By eileenj622 |

Somewhat friendly but way overpriced with appetizer sized potions and a whopping 20% mandatory tip for more than six people. Service was mediocre, table space very tight and everything a la carte. No substitutions!!! Quality of food was decent but not nearly worth the 25.00 for six scallops. Thank goodness for the bread and French fries otherwise it would've been a stop for pizza on the way out!

Great food!

By Jboogs326 |

I have been here a few times and the food is always good. For the first time I tried the farm burger and it was absolutely amazing!

Exceptional first visit!

By Matthew A |

All five of us really enjoyed our meal here. Our server, Violet, was fantastic. We really enjoyed sitting at the front table and people watching on the busy street. All of our apps and meals were fresh, unique, and delicious. When back in the area I could see us stopping by again.

A bit disappointing....

By Dinnerout66 |

Went for lunch and ordered tuna salad sandwich. Not budget pricing either. Light herbs mixed in but nothing to make it stand out in any way. Huge and impossible to manage. And it was dry.

Mediocre Food for a Price

By tahirina k |

The food is neither good or bad- it is just okay. The outdoor seating area is beautiful during warmer months. The prices are not worth it.

Goals are great; delivery just so-so

By Madeline N |

My partner and I love this restaurant's commitment to local and/or organic food and drink. We only wish the results were more consistently better. On a recent dinner, we found the (organic) wine, purported to have a "unique approach", much tarter than we would have guessed. A roasted beet appetizer sounded delectable, but turned out to be more of a (very, very sour) pickled beet salad. A pasta main dish was very tasty, but a very small portion. We also found the acoustics a bit jangly. All that being said, it is clearly very popular locally, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the ambiance pleasant. We just wish we loved it.

fresh and delicious

By hazellen |

For weekday lunch, they have limited menu but there were enough choices. We had vegetarian sandwiches..portobello mushrooms, cheese, avocado on terrific bread. Portions were on the small side...I will return next time I am in that neighborhood. Its a strange place...one gentrified block with this place, 2 cafe/bakeries, 2 art/antique stores surrounded by car repair, Bengali markets and cheap stores....interesting slice of Brooklyn contradictions.

Not friendly ok food

By Pawnee7 |

On Father's Day my daughter made reservations for 7, 3 of which were fathers. Five of us arrived on time but two had driven and in this area it is very difficult to find parking thus they were late about 20 minutes. Our table was right next to the entrance but we had to stand until the last 2 arrived. That is their rule. No one gets seated until all arrive. The place is nice, the service good. Four of us had french toast. The rest had eggs in various form. I had the toast with maple syrup and it was ok but I've had many better. The bread was perhaps multi grain which is not my preferred bread but good enough. Since I was a father I did not pay so I cannot say what the total cost was but from the menu I would say it is reasonable

Small portions Excellent food

By sovta |

We arrived early for a week night dinner without a reservation and had our choice of tables. The service was good and our entrees delicious. I truly enjoyed the well prepared fiddle head ferns and just wished there were more. My friend ate every morsel of her trout served with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. We shared the Giving dessert and loved the delicately flavored lavender ice cream. We will not hesitate to return.

Good food, service lacking

By lisac2020 |

We were informed of this restaurant by the owners of the B&B we stayed in. The restaurant is pretty, which opens to a back patio area, which is we're we ate. The food was delicious - my husband had the meatballs entree, I had the ravioli with brown butter - yum on both! The service left a lot to be desired. Service was friendly, but erratic, as we waited a while before we were greeted by our server. Once we received our food, we did not see our server again! Also, my husband ordered a cocktail and it took forever to get it. After at least 10-15 minutes of waiting, my husband cancelled the order. We were ready to leave by that time!! Another server took care of us once we were done eating and gave us the check. When we were leaving, we saw out server sitting at the bar and eating! She never told us she was taking a break - she just disappeared! Disappointing service, not sure we'd go back.

Yum!

By minstrelmiss |

Super yum! We especially enjoyed the shrimp and fried garlic. The pork was a little tough but the buns were so soft and tasty. We also had a salad and finished every bite. We LOVE a place that offers small portions at reasonable prices so we can try more things! We would go back for another visit.

GREAT Brunch

By japii-phl |

Loved the smoked trout dish, fabulous!! great mimosa as well (not bottomless though)...bit of a waith but service was great...

cute and quaint, great food and service!

By sarah n |

I was trying to find a good brunch place on the weekend to accommodate a party of 10-12 people that 1) took reservations; 2) had space. I stumbled upon this great place and was very happy I booked with them! I worked with Stephen, the manager who books for parties 12+, and he was very quick and responsive to my inquiries via email. Everyone had a great time at the brunch party; the food was excellent and affordable, the service was on point, and the atmosphere was great! It wasn't too loud, and we had a large table reserved for us at the front. Brunch was great!

Worth a trip to Flatbush

By BrendafromFlatbush |

The Farm on Adderly is a little gem tucked on the recently-minted "restaurant row" of Cortelyou Road in Flatbush, Brooklyn. (It's an easy 3-block walk from the Cortelyou Road station on the B and Q trains from Manhattan.) [GOOD FOR KIDS? Not really, especially small ones; tables are close together, food is sophisticated.] Just a friendly, lovely place with delicious American food sourced from great places, many of them local; and they have one of the very best hamburgers and fries, well, anywhere. The garden seating is less comfortable but should still be your pick in temperate weather. Warning: This place is now hugely popular locally, doesn't take reservations, and has a long wait for brunch. IMPORTANT: If you're not a local, make SURE you take a long walk before or after dining here in the magnificent Victorian historic district directly to the north of the restaurant. Walk one (beautiful) block to Beverly Road, then continue past the brick flower-topped stanchions into the Prospect Park South historic district, a sampler of mansions worthy of Newport, RI. It's safe to walk around at night (when you can also catch glimpses of the meticulously restored interiors of these incredible homes); and keep an eye out for movie crews, who film here often.

Best brunch/lunch spot and killer coffee

By Jordan S |

Don't miss this place! Great coffee and brunch/lunch. Everything we had was amazing, the brioche (especially chocolate!) was unforgettable.

Great Mussels

By James P |

The mussels are awesome, the rest of the meal was good. The place is nice. I had the pork chops, I think and they were good. Place isn't cheap.

Good food but ambience, service and conveniences are lacking

By yk13_nyc |

I came to the restaurant really wanting to like it. Some things did not disappoint some did. The main positive was the food: pan seared sea bass was very tasty, Appettizer special (fried shishito peppers) was excellent, steak special (flank steak) quite decent although bit tough to my liking. The disappointment cam from several factors: 1. We were seated by the outdoor garden which was closed. However, the door was not sealed too tightly so there was a cold draft. 2. The restaurant is too kid friendly in my opinion. 7 pm Saturday nigh dinner is not the time that I want to be eating next to screaming children. 3. The restaurant has a single bathroom - couple with the little kids needing to use it, this has produced a substantial line. 4. The table was a bit too small with plates crowding it too much. The service itself was not bad and the noise level was reasonable allowing for a conversation.

Uneven.

By Marignyland |

It's a neighborhood oasis so we locals are loyal visitors because there's not much else to turn to. It can be stellar, or exactly not. The Farm OA might consider aiming lower in favor of consistency? It's pricey, so I admit I weigh traveling further before visiting each time. I'm lazy, so I keep coming back. A same-category alternative near Cortelyou Rd would change that.

Great Atmosphere, All Natural Menu

By TomCost |

This is a small restaurant with a deservedly large reputation. It was packed at dinner time but our wait at the bar was pleasant. All the staff are attentive and informative. The menu features a great assortment of unusual fare - the brook trout and sunchoke ravioli were our choices - that is sure to please.

Micro portions and super ridiculously expensive

By whirldpeace |

I wasn't even close to full after spending $80 on main course and three beers. We asked for extra bread so we wouldn't leave hungry. The food was delicious, no doubt. But the scallop dish, which had a mashed squash base, literally a tablespoon size in broth that diluted it to being completely tasteless. Service was responsive and pleasant, which is why the review is better than it would have been. But she missed placing our appetizer order. 20% tip is excessive for a built-in tip. A general practice historically is 18 tops, with an option for patrons to add more for excellent service. This place is ideal for skinny, moneyed hipsters with kids who have nothing better to do with their money. Yes-- we were the 'healthy-sized' table stuffed into a round in the back, out of sight from other patrons...

If only the staff wanted to be there...

By MTA-CTA-MUNI4ME |

The restaurant is nice enough, but it was hard to get beyond the absolutely bored bartender and below average service at table. It's sad, because this place could fail because of it. There are other places with good food...that are somewhat pleased you show up.
