Nice bar etc Ordered the beef Shepard s pie. My God. There was so much salt in it it was unreal. No flavour due to the salt. Said it to waiter and got the blank not me dude response. When the bill came the waiter said "took the pie off" and ran away. I didn't ask for the meal to be taken off my bill. The way he did it took from the opportunity for him to say sorry you didn't like it and as a gesture I have taken it off the bill. He has compounded a bad dish with a here's your money back attitude. Villain here is the salt overdrive chef. Toilet Report: Ok Pricing: n/a Recomendations to Owner: Put this review on the kitchen fridge door where staff can see it. Talk to chef about salt. Talk to waiter about attitude to legitimate complaints Recomendations to Chef: stop killing the flavour with salt. You will be arrested!!

OMG...The portions were HUGE... Fish and Chips were delicious and the happy hour specials were a nice benefit. Staff was super friendly and attentive...

This is a must come place if you like Irish Pubs - it's the true authentic vibe. And they have the Irish food choices too. I just wander in for Happy Hour and get very happy with some bar bites and beer, for me it's Harp on tap not Guiness. There's always specials here for drinks and eats but also many special reasons to just celebrate with events, music and sports on the telly. Great atmosphere all the way around.

I was in San Diego with a free evening and had not been to the Gaslamp District, so I looked on TripAdvisor and found the The Field Irish Pub. I love a good Irish pub. From the outside it is nothing special. But then that can be said of 99.9% of the pubs I've been to in Ireland. Walking in you notice the aged wood and old world ambiance. Good Irish pub atmosphere except for the two giant TVs over the bar with baseball games on. That gave it an American sports bar vibe. But there was Irish music on in the background, so points for that. I sat at the bar and ordered a pint of Smithwicks, fish and chips, and the apple carmel bread pudding. The bartender's service was quite good. The fish and chips were excellent. The chips were way above the usual: hand cut and nicely deep fried. The cod lightly battered and also nicely prepared. Three pieces of fish, more than enough fries, and a generous dollop of cole slaw. It was nice to actually have a bottle of malt vinegar set before me without having to ask. The bread pudding was disappointing. It was a generous portion, but served cold and it was more than a little chewy. I didn't finish it, and I'm not one to let bread pudding go to waste. In my experience it was a bit pricey for pub grub at $18 for the fish and chips. The entire tab, including a 20% tip, was just under $40. But I knew the costs going in. I suspect the above average pricing is a result of being located in the Gaslamp District and the foodie menu. Overall I was glad to have visited. Would I recommend it? Yes. Overall its very good, as long as you are aware going in that it's not inexpensive.

They have my Irish stew and my Magners cider, what more can you ask. Lovely real little Irish pub. Very calm upstairs. Good service. Prices very reasonable.

Another year, another visit to the Field, with great authentic food served piping hot, and drinks of all sorts. I don't think I could drink a Bud Light here, except if the local musicians are playing, but this time I requested and had a flight of Irish whiskeys to sample. They didn't have me try Bushmill or Jamesons, instead focusing on the smaller labels and more aged whiskeys. Had a great time here again in spite of the very friendly lady ("I'm only going to have one more") that had to be escorted out before she took over for the musician. The best place in the Gaslamp!

I just can't accept the underhandedness of hidden charges. This is a charge or charges that you do not made aware of until the final bill comes. The Field has one of these and why they simply don't add it to the menu price of all items in lieu this unethical practice is beyond me. Shame on them. I won't be back.

More like late breakfast but very very good and authentic. History of pub says it was disassembled in Ireland, shipped to San Diego and reassembled. Looks like that to me (that's in a good way) Amani, our Irish waitress, was very accommodating and helpful. We started with excellent bloody Mary's (suggest hold the salt though). I had Irish eggs Benedict and my wife had rasher and eggs. Both excellent choices. It was Sunday morning and all was slow outside. Inside just perfect. Our bill was reasonable and you could feel the Irish pub friendliness. We've eaten here before but not in the morning. It's an Irish pub, how could you go wrong. Stop in and enjoy. Tell Amani Roy & Jeanine sent you.

Wonderful place to stop for lunch. Classic Irish fare that was lick the plate good. Staff was night. The decor was classic Irish look with a good futbol game to boot. Defiantly worth a stop.

Stopped in to get their Tuesday special which is corned beef and cabbage. (For the second time) It's that good and different in a creamy gravy way. It was around 2 so it wasn't very busy. I also had a Harps which paired well. Can't beat the atmosphere and friendliness of an Irish Pub. This is an example of that.

We were at Apex and after a long day with meetings and walking around, we faced a fairly long walk back to our hotel. So we stopped in for a beer and refreshments. It was packed, as was fifth ave. Beer and refreshments pretty ordinary, at least it broke up the walk. Nice weather though.

This is a nice little Irish place to hangout with friends and have a beer. Food is OK and service about average.

Bad service seems to wipe out any positive aspects of a dining experience. After being seated, I waited and waited for a waitress to come over to my table. I finally had to ask the hostess to find my waitress. Then after I was finished and my plate was cleared, I had to wait and wait to get a bill. I finally had to go to the bar and ask the bartender how I could pay for my meal. Horrible service.

We went in and ordered the sampler which gives you Sheppard’s Pie, Boxty, Irish Stew and Corned Beef with Cabbage. We devoured every bite. This place is interesting, fun and the food is absolutely delicious.

We had a great time here. Prices are good but the staff are better. Shane from cavan in particular was great craic and dead sound

We discovered the Field Irish Pub in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego on YouTube and it looked authentic, so we added it to our list of places to visit during our ‘Big California Adventure’. By the time we got to the Field Irish Pub on the vibrant Fifth Avenue after a 3 mile walk, we were ready for cooling and alcoholic drinks. The very strong smell of cannabis on the way in to the pub was a little off-putting (might have been somebody sat outside where it is legal) but there was a good atmosphere in the pub and the staff gave us a friendly greeting. The Field Irish pub had a good look, with wooden interiors and from what we’d seen online, almost everything was indeed from Ireland. It seemed genuine. An Irish lady, who could have been the owner as far as we knew, asked if we were okay, even though she wasn’t (apparently) on shift. Friendly! So far, so good. We took prime seats at the bar and watched the L.A. Dodgers -v- San Diego Padres baseball game on a TV, knowing the battle was taking place just around the corner from where we were. The 3rd game of 3 was to take place tomorrow and we had originally intended to come back to the Field Irish pub for more drinks before and/or after we’d been to the game. We’d dutifully followed their Facebook page before our arrival and had seen the tasty looking food and thought we’d order that on a second visit to the pub - however the service we received on this visit was so dire we knew we would not be back. In the 2 hours we were in the pub, the staff behind the bar rarely approached us - even when our glasses were empty. We tried making eye contact as they were fussing around and chatting to their coworkers so that we could order more drinks, but it was almost like we were invisible - and the bar wasn’t really that busy. This was probably a good thing, as we only had 6 drinks (black and tan, Bud Light x 3 and Harp lager x 2 in imperial pints, not American sized pints) and the bill came to $57.99. Including the gratuity, we left a total of $70.00. Really, we shouldn’t have left one! This almost defined our experience of a visit to a San Diego Irish pub, but we unexpectedly ended up inside another - and only five minutes away with cheaper drinks and very friendly service.

First off, definitely the freshest Guinness I have had in a long time. Food- I had the fish and chips and it was fresher than my Guinness. Excellent! My better half had the sampler plate which includes Corned Beef and cabbage, Shepherds pie, The Boxty (delicious) and Guinness beef stew. The server Summer was a great waitress as well. We definitely will return!

Pub food and drink but very nice for a relaxing evening with friends and family. Great selection of beers and very nice wait staff. Would definitely go again.

This is an authentic Irish Pub in downtown San Diego. The food is really good however our server could have done a better job. Michelle disappeared and we had to ask other wait staff for another napkin. The décor is very interesting and if you have ever been to Ireland you know it's authentic. We enjoyed our lunch there and returned to listen to live music that same evening. We'll return for meals on our next trip to San Diego.

Seriously it is an Irish Pub and exactly like almost every other Irish Pub I have been to. The service was friendly and the shepherds pie and fish and chips were perfect.

We have been coming to the field for years. It is an authentic Irish pub and the staff and the food make it so. Their sausage rolls are to die for and their stew and shepherds pie are on point. All of their food is good...we have never had anything bad here. They have a full bar with a good selection of craft beer. They also have different bands and performances- all Irish! It is a lot of fun so make sure to stop by when you visit San Diego!

Nice environment. Fish and chips were very good, albeit a smaller portion size on the fish than expected. Bread pudding was also very good. Buffalo wings were above average and overall pricing was fair.

Long happy hour. Lunch and dinner menu quite similar and prices about $1 more at dinner. Friendly staff and good service. good beer selection. Watched a good soccer game on three tvs

Stopped by and sat at the patio during happy hour. The young lady working there was super nice and chatted with us about her home town in Ireland! Loved the inside decor too!

We are loyal customers to this great place, even though we live in Fort Worth. And it was the Shepherd's Pie that hooked us though it is a technically a Cottage Pie. The fish and chips.... OMGG!!!! We always say if we were to live in San Diego we would be here everyday. The staff is amazing and somehow remembers us every time we visit! They also have live music on weekends which has always been good. A must when visiting San Diego!

Made reservations but not sure why since only a few tables were taken. Staff was extremely cordial, Our waiter was great and on the spot to deliver but the food was just okay with just okay portions. Corned beef sandwich was dissapointing but my wife's Pie was good. Prices were high for what we received but the live music and atmosphere made up some if the difference.

From the Irish folk music in the background to the imported vintage Irish artifacts, The Field tries very hard to set the stage. Friendly, professional staff, decent to good pub grub, and happy hour specials make for a good place to settle in for a pint and a bite. Happy hour prices are very reasonable. The regular prices are well in line for the Gaslamp district area. Insider’s tip: There is an ATM just inside the door, if you’re in the area and need cash.

This PUB is great to share a moment with friends. No A/C upstairs: is a little bit hot over there. A little bit expensive in my opinion

If you don’t bring your passport out with you I wouldn’t recommend this place, our server checked our id and served our drinks, a couple of minutes later after drinking our drinks another lady who looked like the owner came over and rudely told my friend she had to take her drink of her because she showed an Irish full driving liscene in an Irish pub instead of a passport . Unacceptable and we should’ve been denied drink before being served rather than having the drink taken off us

I absolutely loved it here! I'd just returned from a trip to Dublin two weeks prior, and I felt like I was back in Eire. My Bailey's coffee was a generous pour, I walked out just a bit unbalanced. (Then again I'm a lightweight.) Service is fast and friendly, and sitting outside people watching was a great way to pass the afternoon. The interior is just as it should be, cozy and a little bit dark. I'd be a regular did I live in the area. Absolutely recommended!

Located midblock on 5th Avenue in the Gaslamp district of downtown San Diego, the Field “Authentic” Irish pub is a genuine Irish experience. Everything, the floors, the walls, the bar, the light fixtures, the waiters, and barmaids are from Ireland. This Irish mecca for football, soccer and rugby is small, crowded, dark, loud and wonderful. We like to sit in one of the two booths at the rear where we have a good view of the large screen and out of the way of all the turmoil. Our favorite dishes are the corned beef and cabbage and the fish and chips. On our last visit we ordered from the Happy Hour (noon till 7:00 pm): the Black and Blue Sliders ($3) that were just average; plus the outstanding Irish Combo platter which included fried chicken nuggets, stuffed potato skins, (super delicious) onion rings with ranch-type dipping sauce and skin-on Irish fries ($9) and Irish coffee ($4). The meal was super; we enjoyed every bite. Definitely, it was a one-of-a-kind Irish experience. Ask my wife, she is Irish.

We have been here in the past and decided to try it once again on our trip to San Diego. We were impressed. Value for what you get is very good with our bill coming to half what we spent the night before for what was inferior service and ok food. The waitress was very friendly, down to earth, knew the menu (and beers) well, and was very helpful in making our selections. The food was very simple, however the portions were reasonable and the quality good. We will continue to return here on future trips. Overall value for what you got was very good.

In San Diego to join a cruise ship next morning, staying in the Gaslamp area next to the Padre's stadium. and my TripAdvisor restaurant research for dinner led me to The Field. They served Guinness which is my main source of sustenance. I had already decided on my entree before I got on our flight from Chicago. The perfect pairing of fish and chips and Guinness. That's the ticket! Madame was leaning towards the Corned Beef and Cabbage, a dish she makes at home on St Patrick's Day back in Chicago. It wasn't March 17th but rather the week before Christmas. She paired it with a bottle of Ginger Beer. The hostess and server were both welcoming. I had reserved a table on the wide sidewalk but it was a cold Friday evening. I had made a reconnaissance visit earlier to scope the place out. Inside was warmer- an Irish pub that legend has it was shipped over in pieces from Ireland- but the small tables had a speaker directly above them piping jaunty Irish music directly onto the heads of people who (a) might want to talk over dinner or (b) find jaunty Irish music tiresome. I fall into both categories even though I am from Ireland. We had to eat outside consequently. They had gas heaters outside and we asked for one to be lit. It was even though the lighter man said it was low on gas. It performed like it was. I had a draught Guinness so it didn't matter to me if the food didn't come quickly-but it did and I set about putting vinegar on my fish and chips. A good dish-not outstanding like the last one I had in Dublin but worth the price. Hand cut fries were a tad flaccid but were hot and the fish was on point. Across the table she sawed through her corned beef. Oh dear-that looks pretty dry. She sawed off a piece for me to try as she was making faces of disapproval, disappointment and something else beginning with "dis" that escapes me at the minute. Dry it was and it was an unhappy chew. And chew and chew. A total swing and a miss. We didn't see our waitress while we were eating-there were only two tables occupied on the sidewalk so she busied herself inside. Madame directed her attention to the mashed potatoes and cabbage which despite being tepid were at least flavorsome and would fill her hungry tummy. When the waitress did return our plates were pushed to the side. She didn't seem surprised that none of the corned beef slices had been consumed. "Ready for dessert?" I suggested the bread pudding a la mode and said I would share with Madame so she could salvage something from what she has later called "the worst restaurant meal of my life" (ouch!) I doubt if there is an Irish chef in the kitchen. The bread pudding was yummy and the bowl licked clean! My dessert was to be an Irish coffee. Delicious! I might recommend The Field for their drinks but would probably (definitely) eat elsewhere. Maybe the Corned Beef is the only thing they are poor at? Or the Chef was off his game that night? We are unlikely to go back and take a chance. Pity-it's a nice bar and the staff are friendly.

I am partial to Irish pubs, and this spot did not disappoint. There were some authentic artifacts present with historical significance to "the Field" in Irish culture. The service was fine, and I even made a friend at the bar as generally the folks there were very friendly. I tried a few different local beers all excellent choices. As a bonus, there happened to be LIVE music starting at 9PM. That was a nice surprise.

The food was excellent. Had potato skins for an app and the Irish sampler for dinner. The Shepherd's Pie was the best I have ever had. Nice portions of meat. The stew was a perfect blend of meat and veges. The service was top notch. Would definitely recommend if Irish faire is what you dare.

Stopped by for lunch while visiting San Diego. They have a great selection of Irish beers, know how to properly serve a Guinness, and have a great luncheon menu. I chose the Chicken Boxty, and it was delicious.

Very authentic food and beer at this pub. Enjoyed trivia night too! Lots of artifacts from Ireland on the walls and they even bought an old bar from a pub in Ireland and shipped it over here! Service was good- bangers and mash (champs) were good as well as the chicken crepe dish. Would definitely recommend!!

Delicious food in a lovely atmosphere, just like Ireland! The kind and helpful Irish server told us that all the interior decorations were retrieved from a genuine Irish pub. Lovely atmosphere!

On a quiet Sunday night we sat down upstairs to eat sausage and champ washed down with Harp lager and a glass of wine. After the bustle of the weekend it was a great chill out experience to watch the world go by on the street below as our Server Brian attentively provided great service. We will be back on our next visit to San Diego.

I'm trying to figure out why this place is so highly rated. The food is just OK and the service is terrible! I have zero desire to return.

Food was amazing ( strongly recommend the curry chips) staff were friendly and attentive. We had to sit outside due to covid but the set up was great

Cute old looking Irish bar. Good cold beer. We had potatoe skins. They were pretty good. Very cute interior!

Standard Irish fare raised to a higher level, shepherds pie, corned beef and fish and chips with flavorful twists.

I was born in Ireland and take as many opportunities as possible to visit Irish Pubs that claim to be Authentic. This one now tops my list. I have had "Shepherd's Pie" at many Irish Pubs and most have been made with beef (not authentic) The Traditional Shepherds Pie in Ireland is Lamb (where the name comes from a shepherd). The Shepherds pie here is worth the 35 mile drive for me to go there. The staff were friendly and they have a great traditional atmosphere.

Dropped by The Field August 14th and the hostess was very welcoming and explained that no inside dining available due to Covid regulations . She explained it in such a pleasant way plus mentioned that the patio dining is a great experience. Got a table with an umbrella. Brie was the server and she "immediately connected" and made me feel very welcome. Great food plus had dessert. Great casual atmosphere and their patio is large and well spread out. Even though I do not drink the ice tea was very good. Brie kept bringing re-fills. Thank you to The Field and I will be back. Donal D. Tucson, Arizona

Came in for a change of pace from the delicious Mexican venues in Gaslamp area. This is a nice traditional feeling Irish (American) Pub. 20 oz. Smithwicks for Happy hour is a great choice. Also - They were showing Rugby World cup live (from Japan so figure the time!). Good fun place for a solo traveller.

Wife andI stopped by on a Saturday night to share a sandwich and have a drink. Sat outside and enjoyed streetfrom activity. Ordered a pinot Giorgio and a Blue Moon beer. a corn beef sandwich. Verdict: 4 stars for atmosphere, 5 stars for service but a 3 star for the sandwich. Had much better especially back East. Go for the fun but necessarily the food.

Good and quick service. A bit bizzare that the guy at the entrance wanted to see my picture id (I'm 58 years old!), but I guess rules are rules. Great pub, I didn't try the food but the drinks were great.

Saw the reviews and the menu and had to check this place out. My wife and I both had the lamb shepherds pie. Perfect for a cold drizzly day. The pie was good, but a little too salty and a little heavy on the rosemary seasoning. Made it hard to taste the lamb. The waitress was awesome. Friendly and took very good care of us. The atmosphere was just like being in a pub in Ireland. Would definitely try this place again.

Visited (twice!) on a recent work trip; brunch was so good that I went back for lunch the next day. The breakfast sandwich with bangers, rashers, and egg was very tasty and filling along with a pot of Barry's tea. I highly recommend the Shepherd's pie for lunch, and they absolutely make the best Irish coffee I've had outside of Co. Kerry. Visit the upstairs for the finds from the original Field pub in Leenaune in Galway.

This is not a knock off or chain restaurant. This is as authentic as you can get. Food is awesome, service is attentive and ambiance perfect. If you want Irish go no place else but here.

I visited The Field for a beer and a burger and thoroughly enjoyed myself. The staff were very friendly and made me welcome. They serve a good selection of beers and the food was great. A great place to kill a couple of hours

Good Irish Pub. Good drinks and decent food, but service tends to be slow. If you are looking to have a quick drink and bite, probably bot the best place.

Heard about the hype, was just Okay, visited for lunch. Pretty quiet but the blonde Irish girl, who we wont name on here, starting with N, just didnt seem awfully interested in my presence, there was about 15 people in the bar. Food was nice but was still hungry after. There is quick food and there was this, food was on my table less than 20 seconds after I ordered so makes me question if the food is made fresh or pre-prepped. Would like to go back but not blown away first time round

Great atmosphere and beer. Food is good although a little pricey for a pub. Every other Sunday they have Irish dancers for entertainment.

Excellent Irish food. Staff were great. Definitely popular and for a good reason. Inside was great seating. But outdoor was good too. One of the best in the G. District.

Great place for a couple of pints. Prices are good. Staff very friendly. Real nice setting. Food is good.

The restaurant is a well-located classic Irish pub. It sits in the middle of Gaslamp District, one of the most youthful neighbourhoods in San Diego, and recreates with a detail-rich interior the atmosphere of a Dublin public house. The lamb shepherd's pie is really hearty and comfy, perfect to counterbalance the loneliness that sometimes characterises a trip. Also the waitress was really kind and cheerful.

We needed a quick dinner one night and headed in here for some pub food and it didn’t disappoint. The Shepherds Pies, lamb or beef, are both absolutely delicious and you have to try the sausage rolls as an appetiser. Great service and drinks too and if you’re lucky there’ll be a great band on.

Went to the pub to listen to local musician Ike Kanakanui and had great Irish comfort food. The atmosphere was great and had a lot of interesting things around the restaurant to give you a glimpse into Ireland. The people were very friendly and the music was fantastic!

We had the burger with bacon and blue cheese. Also the house salad with chicken. Very tasty! The service was great and the decor really gave you a sense that you were in an Irish pub with the streets of Dublin just outside!

We went because we had heard about the unique origin of the pub and how it was shipped over from Ireland. We arrived at around 4pm on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. We sat upstairs overlooking the street - nice people watching views. The pub has a great traditional vibe with lots of old photos and no tvs, which is nice. One of us ordered a pint of Guinness and the other an Irish mule. Both were great. We also ordered the fish and chips and a side of onion rings to share. The fish was very fresh, chips (fries) were also very good, and the onion rings seemed to be made in house and were super good. Overall it was a nice experience, but a tad bit spendy considering. Would recommend going during happy hour to get the better deals. If you're looking for a nice Irish pub, or just a good place in the Gaslamp to hang out and be able to have a nice conversation (as it's not too loud), this is the spot.

We found this gem randomly. Decided to come in after a few minutes discussing whether we really wanted to try it. We are so happy we tried it. It was very interesting and indeed it was Irish! We had the Irish coffee, the Irish tea, fish and chips, turkey sandwich, potatoes soup, and the dessert. It was absolutely delicious. It has its history and the feel inside with its Irish decor transported from Ireland, definitely gave us the Irish feel. The waitress was very friendly. We definitely made this our little place to visit every time we come back to San Diego. We were here a while and we were never rushed to leave. We felt so comfortable.

The Field has good food, good live music, and a fun atmosphere. No complaints at all. It was exactly what I expected. I was there with three family members, and everyone enjoyed their meal. I don't remember what they ordered, but I had the fish & chips, and it was delicious.

Spent a lovely couple of hours upstairs overlooking the vibrant early evening nightlife on 5th. Enjoyed the food enormously and had the first decent pint in weeks. Not too noisy, huge attempt at authenticity, staff, all Irish, personable and eager to please. Yes we would recommend this venue to anyone (families included) for food, drink, staff, location......

This bar was originally from Ireland. It was disassembled and reconstructed at it current location. It is worth the time to just step inside to see it. As long as you are there , you may as well have a beer. Great staff.

Thursday night drinks. They could not organise a p**s up in an Irish brewery. None of the servers looked interested. Keep asking us if we were going to eat, each time the answer was no, but still kept trying. Drinks took forever and that was wrong. This place was hurt and everyone else busy, I know why.

Great pub food! The sausage rolls were tasty along with the fabulous beer battered fish and chips! Fun atmosphere!

Great food and great atmosphere! Alfresco seating, inside seating also has an upstairs area. They offer a "All Day Menu," a Happy Hour Menu." a "Brunch Menu," and a "Breakfast Menu." There's something for everyone at any time of day. We both ordered the "Guinness Beef Stew." Really tasty!!!

This Irish restaurant has everything - music, drinks and excellent food. The building has old fashioned timber on part of the walls that were apparently brought from Ireland. The menu has a wide variety of great food - my favorite is the shepherd's pie - that is served up warm and tasty. I even got a great shandy to drink! Will certainly be back next time I'm in San Diego.

I really thought this place would be a tourist-trap, considering it's trendy location in the Gas Lamp Quarter. Our meals were good, service was excellent, and of course, plenty of Irish beer was available. Try the fish and chips and the Guinness beef stew!

The food was quite good at the Field Irish Pub. Service was outstanding. However, we were seated next to 4 men who were pretty much toasted and very loud and vulgar. I would have expected someone at the restaurant to tell these guys to tone it down especially as patrons were entering with young children. Considering the circumstances, I was somewhat surprised that the wait staff continued to serve them alcohol, often multiple drinks for each person at a time. Kind of ruined our experience

Great atmosphere and delicious food! We had the lamb shepherds pie and the beef shepherds pie. Both were fantastic and authentic!

Stopped in for lunch and was very happy with the quality and authenticity of the dishes. Menu has a wide array of options.

Looking for unique while visiting downtown San Diego in the Gas Lamp District and we found it. This place takes you across the pond with some authentic Irish flavor in a classic pub style. As I understand it, the pub was once in Ireland and was moved piece by piece here. The atmosphere is just superb. So was the food and service! Had the Shepherds Pie and bread pudding for dessert. This unique flavor beats massive chain store every time!

I had the great fortune of being at The Field the night that they brought in Smithwicks, and have enjoyed both the place and the ale ever since. My wife loved the fish and chips while I went for the Bangers sausages and mashed potatoes. The authentic feel of the place, the excellent food, and the great decor make it somewhere I'd always have to visit. Check our the Celtic dancing for a great night of fun.

It is full of personality as an Irish Pub. Very cool! Great server - bartender rude. Fish and chips were excellent, the chicken strips in the sampler basket were ice cold. Mixed review - would go again for ambience and a cocktail.

The thought of going to an authentic Irish Pub in San Diego was exciting. We got there and sat at a table, upstairs, overlooking the street, feeling the buzz from the packed restaurant, the cars and pedestrian traffic from the street below. Everything was feeling great. Unfortunately the waitress changed that. We ordered the sausage rolls to start and the fish and chips, lamb shepherd's pie as mains. Everything practically came at the same time and were literally dropped on the table. We did not feel welcomed at all. I loved the shepherd's pie but my wife said the fish batter was too thick. Better luck next time.....maybe.

Good service but average food. Went for dinner last evening - warmly greeted in this lively bar. Would recommend sitting upstairs if eating. Service was faultless. However, the food on arrival was pretty bland and lacked seasoning. Not bad, just ok on the food side of things.

Stumbled here after a late night stroll When the bf was craving an Irish coffee. Never came across or heard of whiskey infused! Had their Jameson Mint & it was the perfect drink for me! Also had a live musician! Bartender was chill!

Superb food and service. We had lamb shepherds pie and corned beef boxty. Apple bread pudding for dessert. Highly recommend this place for atmosphere, food, beer and service.

My husband and I ate at The Field: Authentic Irish Pub yesterday for lunch in Gaslamp Quarter. We first off enjoyed the authentic-looking atmosphere! Darker, old woods, stone fireplace, etc. I believe a pub from Ireland was brought to America for the interior, according to what is advertised. Our server was actually Irish--I detected a slight Irish accent, and she confirmed she was from Co. Mayo, Ireland. Though there wasn't live music--which they do have at night, along with Irish dancing--there was piped Irish music playing, which was enjoyable. We both started with Potato Leek soup, which was very good, and served with a good, hearty Irish brown bread and butter--it had a nice sweet taste. My husband ordered the Lamb Shepherd's Pie, and said it was excellent. (Aside: One not into lamb could order "Sheperhd's Pie"--which has beef, instead.) I am one who will usually order corned beef and cabbage, though I might add, it's what American's expect in an Irish Pub, but, usually, that's left for home cooking in Ireland. (It CAN be found, but primarily in tourist areas like Dublin.) But I decided I wanted to try Boxty. I enjoyed it. It was a potato pancake (on each side of my platter) with chicken pieces in/on it and a sauce. In the center of my platter was French fries, and they were great, however, if I were to do over, I would have told them they were way too salty for my taste, and could I please have them re-do, lighter on the salt. (I was thirsty the rest of the day!) I am certain they would have prepared new fries for me had I said anything! Would we go back? Yes! And I hope to get there in the evening sometime when there is live entertainment (nightly)!

The inside of this Irish Pub features architectural items from a pub in Ireland; neat doors and history. The service was attentive and friendly. The fish was the best; however, corned beef and cabbage, cottage pie, and stew needed more flavor. Oh, and friend said good Irish Coffee!

The staff is friendly and the Irish coffee is awesome. Their cream is hand made and they you get a chocolate clover on top. We stopped in several times and started with the coffee but then moved on to the whisky. Enjoyed some music and would go back again.

We had lunch here. The meals were a reasonable size and we'll priced. The servers were friendly. There's a selection of normal American style menu with a few Irish selections available as well

Authentic Irish Pub! Excellent food and the atmosphere is just right. I had the fish & chips and my husband had the lamb shepherds pie. Both were excellent and very fresh. Perfect place for hot comfort food.

Terrific and traditional Irish pub--obviously loved by locals, as the couple at the next table recommended several items on the menu. We chose curry fries (my sisters' choice) and shared the sampler platter--more than enough food for all 3 and offered each of us exactly what we going to order separately, plus a bonus! Highly recommend the boxty, Irish stew, and Shepard's pie!

We choose this for dinner on our first night in San Diago as I am coeliac and searched TripAdvisor for options with gluten free food this was recommended by some customers, When we arrived I asked about gluten free options was told they didn’t have much choices all I could have was potatoe skins for start & cornbeef cabbage /carrot for mains sauce came with mains only to be taken back saying that’s actually Not gluten free our started & main came together Actually it was very disappointing & tasteless Wouldn’t return or recommend this restaurant Disappointed

We stopped in for a quick bite but ended up staying a good part of the evening! We picked the one night of the month that they had Irish Dancers and could they dance!! So we ate ate bangers and champ, sipped Guinness and watched these young folks tap the night away! Sometimes the best experiences are the ones you don't plan! The service was top notch! Add this pub to your travels the next time you are in San Diego!

After a long and warm day touring San Diego we walked into The Field and felt as though we had stepped into a pub in rural Ireland. The atmosphere was truly Irish, the staff was warm and welcoming. We were offered a number of Irish drinks and food. After a couple of pints and some wonderful bar food, we left happy and refreshed, regretting we could not stay.

Had a great dinner here last week, I had the beef (I could tell it was high quality) Shepherds Pie, my co-worker had corned beef and cabbage which also looked great. The inside of this pub was created using materials from Ireland, so it is indeed authentic. Service was excellent, pricing good. Highly recommend.

In San Diego for a conference. Imagine our delight when we found this great pub! We liked it so much we ate here 2 nights. The shepherd's pie was excellent as was the boxty. Great selection of beer.

We liked this place so much we went back a second time: 2 nights in a row. Our party of 10 thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Olde Irish Pub homey atmosphere. They have the Irish vibe down perfectly. There are two floors: we tried both. The service was outstanding. Our 2 women servers (one for each evening) were fantastic: personable, friendly, knowlegeable, extremely competent. They make you feel as if you are being hosted in their home. I had bangers and mash the first evening and my wife had shepherd's pie. We each loved our meal. So did the others in our family group. The second evening I odered a corned beef sandwich, expecting great things. That was a letdown. The meat was very dry and tasteless. But everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals. I didn't want to be a party-pooper and complain, so I let it slide. Overall everyone had a good time each of the nights we were there so I'd go back. One caution: the tab can add up very quickly, so I suggest discretion when ordering, especially the drinks.

We were in San Diego for a vacation and visited The Field every night. We were treated like family. The staff is first rate, the food was fantastic, and the atmosphere perfect. The best Shepherds Pie I have had in the US - and the best overall pub food too. Even without the food The Field should be a go-to place for everyone who loves a good Pub. I can't say enough good things about the staff - friendly, efficient, and they take an interest in their patrons. Dave made this a wonderful stop. Fantastic experience.

I was looking for a place to have lunch on a Saturday in San Diego and wandered by The Field. It has a nice Irish pub atmosphere, they know how to pour a pint of Guinness and serve good food. The bartender was attentive even though the place got pretty busy right after I arrived. I talked with a few locals and was informed that this is the best Irish Pub in San Diego, since I've only been to one other Pub there I will have to take their word. I enjoyed my visit and will be sure to go back when I'm in San Diego again.

Irish food is famous for potato lovers and this place will not disappoint in this regard, overall the food is OK. The service OK. Nice Irish pub decor. Great location in the middle of the gaslamp district. Many TV showing sports.

A couple of friends and I were in town for a conference, and thought we'd give this restaurant a try. We're glad we did! We had a lovely time! We were seated on the second floor, in the window, which was super fun! It was warm and breezy outdoors, so it was wonderful to get the best of both worlds... and the people-watching was a hoot, too! Two of us had chicken sandwiches, and the other had the guinness beef stew. We all loved our meals and finished every bite! Our server, Cyril, was also wonderful, and super attentive! We can't wait to come back. :)

Wow - this is a really fun pub. Our concierge suggested this and he was spot on. Shepard's pie was tasty, hot and the Guiness was a great compliment. Service was top notch too. Well done!

The food was that good We came back the next night highly recommend the fish and chips amazing there was a live band on too they were a good band plus the staff are so friendly

The field is one of the better restaurants in the Gas Lamp district. The Shepherds Pie, Corn Beef and Cabbage, and Beef Stew were excellent. Highly recommended.

We were very pleasantly surprised by this pub. They had a good beer selection and the food was authentic Irish fare. The staff was very good. We would definitely return And highly recommend.

Wanted some good old grub. The Smithwicks was superb. Had a salad and Stew. More than enough for us two. Stew was hearty and very tasty. Salas fresh and also tasty. Just what we were looking for. Fast and Friendly. Pub atmosphere, seating etc.

Seated promptly and comfortably in classic pub surroundings, just like The Temple! Menu small but all classic pub style dishes, friendly server and food arrived in good time - generous helping of chunky chips, big pieces of fish and tartare sauce too. Left impressed.

This was our best surprise in San Diego. There is an excellent range of beers on tap and a good list of traditional Irish dishes. The food was very well prepared - like the Guinness beef stew. The atmosphere had Ireland stamped all over it. The prices were very reasonable and the happy hour is eight hours -- from 11 AM - 7 PM.

Really authentic pub experience. The corned beef sandwich and fries were phenomenal. My wife had a salad that was very fresh and tasty. Rosemary gave it a unique flavor. Magner's Irish Cider provided a refreshing, not too sweet beverage.

And authentic place to enjoy a pint and craic! We always stop in when we are in San Diego! My wife truly loves her Bailey’s and coffee especially with the Cloverleaf done on the top of the whip cream! I’m always good for a pint of cider and Guinness. This visit was as good as anytime we’ve ever stopped. We truly enjoyed the sausage rolls and fresh chips with a side of curry sauce. Thankfully they are not a plastic Paddy! Keep up the great work!

Just stopped by to meet some old friends for some guinness and appetizers. Nice atmosphere and great service. Unfortunately I cannot review the quality of the entrees.

We ate dinner here twice on a 4 day weekend. We both had different meals each time. All 4 meals were awesome. Service was fast and friendly and we even got a floor show on Sunday night. We loved the look, the atmosphere - everything!

We came here for dinner and drinks and the place is kind of interesting.. its a bit too much of what someone thinks an Irish pub should be. For us it was too dingy and dark and worn. they did not have a table for 4 available inside that had a bit more light so we ended up on the patio and had some drinks. I'm sure the place is a blast late night.

We go to a lot of “Irish Pubs”. It’s our thing. We hit a town anywhere in the world and look for one. Many are really good, many more are a “strip mall” or shopping center inauthentic idea of an Irish pub. A sports bar with a couple of Guinness signs and an Irish flag does not make it an Irish pub. Go to The Field and prepare to be amazed. This is as authentic as one could get. They actually bought an old pub in Ireland and sent it to San Diego piece by piece. Of course atmosphere is important but it’s only one part of the experience. The food was incredible. My wife and I don’t eat much so we shared the sampler. It had small portions of Guinness Beef Stew, Lamb Shepherd’s Pie, Corned Beef &Cabbage and a Chicken Boxty. Choosing a favorite was impossible. They were all that good. There are a lot of attractive choices in The Gaslamp area of San Diego. The Field has our vote!

I love a good Irish Pub and this one was excellent! I was meandering along 6th street on my 1st of 2 nights in SD, casually glancing at the menus for all the places and did a double-take here because I was slowly walking away (I'm in SD for the first time, I've been to Ireland multiple times...I wanted fish and local cuisine, not another irish pub even though I love them!)... Anyway, I was slowly starting to walk away when I thought I heard live music. "You have live music right now?" to the hostess. "Yep." "Awesome. Dinner for 1, I'll take a seat at the bar if available." "Looks the bar is full, do you mind a table?" "Nope." And she proceeded to sit me a table over from the 2-man band that was playing. Atmosphere was a true irish pub/restaurant, through and through. This was a Thursday late evening (9pm-ish?), night before the U2 concert and night of a Padres game. The experience was great. I only ordered apps -- the potato skins were excellent -- and my go-to Smithwick's. Service was excellent, fast and friendly. This was an unexpected highlight of my trip! If i was local, it would probably become a go-to spot.

This bar had a good band which made things lively. The beer was very cold which you don’t always find even though you’re paying for it.

Well located typical Irish pub. Staff was very nice and great. We had a very nice evening. We'll be back!

Great little pub with very friendly staff from Ireland. Good good and the Guinness was served at the right temp. I had the pestrami sandwich and my wife had a Shepard's pie with an Irish coffee. All good!!

Hung out with 12 friends on Friday night 7 February and ordered the sausage rolls, corned beef sandwich, the bacon blue burger and of course some wings!! Everything came out hot and tasty!! We also ordered black and tans!! (Guinness and Harp).

We were looking for some good Irish food and this restaurant did not disappoint. They actually moved the entire Pub from Ireland and re-assembled it. You get the real pub feel while you are sitting there looking at all of the interesting sights from Ireland. The food was fantastic, we had the Sheperds Pie, and the Sampler Plate, it was phenomenal. The staff was great and the ambiance was fantastic. The pricing was a little high, but moderately priced for being in the Gaslamp district.

A hidden gem for that famous Irish Coffee. Honestly, one of the best I've had. The lamb shepard's pie was also delicious. Service was quick and sitting outside on a nice day makes the whole experience wonderful.

One of the highlights of our trip! Excellent service and amazing traditional Irish food. They are very family friendly and even have a kids menu.

What a great place! The bartenders were fantastic, attentive and gave great recommendations on the food. Huge selection of spirits, beer and wine. Good music while we were there. Can get crowded.

Buyer be aware! Menu lists happy hour items. We order happy hour items. After receiving order, was told no happy hour today, owner decided to cancel happy hour. Had to pay full price for everything. Will not return. I despise bait and switch sales tactics.

Find this spot by walking around Sunday morning onto the Gaslamp Quarter. The decor is classic & not very busy around 10a. The best part was ordering Irish Coffees. The bartender put effort in making sure the drink was going to be enjoyed. He made sure the glass was warm before assembling this beauty. He finished off with a perfect dusting of an Irish clover. At $5 a glass, it was very very good. I gave the place a 4 out of 5 since they didn’t get the breakfast order right & tried to still serve it. However the bartender fixed it without any issues & made sure I enjoyed. It definitely is a spot you will want to visit if you want to have some morning drinks, enjoy football, & get the late morning started with a smooth buzz!

Visited on a friend’s suggestion that’s from Southern Cal. Excellent service with a true Irish feel. I heard they imported the furniture and much of the woodwork straight from Ireland.

This Irish Pub is in the Gaslight district and had a very loud and raucous band that was a lot of fun. There was a violinist and guitar players, and they even belted out Hava Negila. Be sure to take your friends here for a really fun time.

Visiting for lunch while in town for conference, food was good but not outstanding. Beer specials over lunch. After visiting Ireland recently, this place was reminiscent of Irish pub.

Love this spot, live music, amazing food and friendly bartenders. They also have a great happy hour (they had me at mini shepherd's pie) but seriously their food is delicious. Definitely worth stopping in instead of walking by!

My husband and I walked to the Gaslamp district (10 minutes) from our hotel to the Field Irish pub. Dave had a Bass Ale, I had a house Cabernet Sauvignon and we relaxed in the quaint bar. I ordered lamb shepherd's pie, and Dave had Guinness beef stew. Really, really good Irish bread. I think the beef stew was best but both were good. Great server, very nice people. We watched the Bruins beat TPA Bay on the bar TV then enjoyed walk back to retire early.

Stopped into The Field to grab appetizers and a beer while walking around the Gaslamp district. It was a delightful little place with a great staff, good food, and great beer (Kilkenny). My wife and I had a quick bite and a beer and were pleasantly surprised

We sat outdoor, it was warm because of the heaters. The music was good. Happy hour was till late so we could still get food on the happy hour menu The service was really good. The sliders were yummy.

Both tourists and locals kept The Field with lots of patrons all the time even when other nearby restaurants were near empty. The food is very good, service is equally good and the setting is comfortable and enjoyable. I drank a Sculpin beer made by Ballast Point Brewing Company in San Diego, new to me and now a fan; my wife had a excellent Bailey's Coffee that was sweeter than customary Irish Coffee. I had a House Burger and thought it was quite good. My wife had Lamb Shepsherds Pie and rated it as very good.

Wandering through Gas Light District in San Diego. Came across this pub. Great atmosphere. Friendly servers. Terrific Food. Would definitely recommend and will go back again!

This is as authentic as it gets in San Diego for Irish food. Waiter was amazing. Shepherd's pie had best mashed potatoes on it. Tried on San Diego food tour - enjoyed so much went back for a full meal. Go!!!

This is an old Irish barn (I believe) that was torn down in Ireland and rebuilt in San Diego. It is great. The atmosphere is second to none, the food is good and the service great too. I also like Dublin Square which is 1 block up, but there is something about The Field. Just a warmer, inviting atmosphere.

I arrived hear for lunch just in time for the England vs Croatia World Cup game. The place was packed with fans. Had a great festive atmosphere and the waiter was attentive even with the full house. The corn beef and cabbage was good and I heard someone at another table compliment their shepard's pie.

Service was great and food was even better. One of the best Irish pubs I've been at outside of Dublin!

We found the The Field Irish Pub while looking for another pub. What we found was a super Irish Pub with a very deep bar selection nice food selection and great service

Who doesn’t accept a British driving license as ID... it seems the Field is the only place in SD that doesn’t! Had to get a Diet Coke instead! Would have reviewed it worse but went in the week before to watch the rugby and the breakfast was pretty good! Don’t have the Diet Coke, it tastes like balls!

We ate here on 19th July. It was emptier than expected for Comic-Con, but an amazing meal. We had the Shepherd’s Pie, Fish & Chips and Chicken Sandwich. All of them were great, and our server (can’t remember her name, but she was from Ireland) was very friendly, and spoke to us about being from the UK. The service was quick and the atmosphere was great, would definitely eat here again.

This was a fun stop for us as this is a true Irish Pub with all of the music and atmosphere. Our waiter was Irish with the true accent and great service. Irish music in the background made it that more of an experience. Only got the sampler which was good but the drinks were great.

Decent food and drinks. Shepard's Pie was decent. It can get quite loudat times, but the staff was very nice.

Authentic Irish pub in the Gaslamp Quarter. We had a great waitress upstairs that recommended the Boxty & Fish & Chips, both of which were excellent. Cold imported beer on tap didn't hurt either!

Wasn’t feeling like too much so get a chicken tenders and two portions of curry chips for both me and my boyfriend , whilst the portions were significant , it was still expensive for the food we got. They also added a surcharge of 5$ for what I don’t know!? Was very mediocre food for an extra price , with a guiness and a cocktail added in our total cost was 70$!

We were staying in the Gaslamp Quarter for a night, and decided to try The Field. Great choice! It's funky, fun, and staffed by Irish people who really want to please their customers. Good drinks, and really good food as well. The hospitality is warm, the prices reasonable for what you get. Back here for sure on our next trip to SD.

We ate here last night. Our server was exceptional. I ordered the corn beef and cabbage. The corn beef was so lean you could cut it with a fork. My husband ordered the chicken boxty. We both loved our meals. The decor was awesome. The owners had this bar restaurant moved over from Ireland. This was an awesome experience!!!!!!!!!

Had one of the best Shepard's Pies ever. Stopped here while one tour and the Guiness and meal were excellent.

Looking for something different and fun in the Gaslamp. The Field Irish Pub is great for a beer or a drink. The food is great as well. Staff is friendly and great. Fun place to hang out for drinks and food. Good Irish Pub.

I actually ate twice at the Field Irish Pub on successive days -- first for a solo lunch and the following evening for happy hour beer & snacks with my husband before a game at Petco Park. Both visits were similar, sitting at a high top table on the outdoor patio, located on the street on 5th Ave (which is closed off to traffic). On both occasions, the staff was stretched pretty thin for the number of patrons, so service could be slow but unfailingly friendly. It's best to know what you want and order it immediately when the server first comes to your table. You may not see her for awhile if you tell her you are still deciding. On both visits we stuck to familiar bar standards. For my solo lunch, a bacon burger with fries, washed down with a couple of Ballast Point Sculpin IPAs. For our pre-game happy hour, 3 sliders (served individually at $4/each), as well as a combo platter of snacks (potato skins, onion rings, fries, and chicken tenders), along with a couple of Half Door IPAs. The burger for lunch was better than our happy hour snacks, as the grease quotient for the latter was pretty high. We were pleased to discover that, despite the baseball game, they were offering their Happy Hour menu that evening. Many of the bars in the area suspend HH pricing when there's a home game at Petco. We'd certainly return.

Great little pub in gaslight district. Lots of draft and whiskey choices. Not busy at all around 1:30 on weekday. Perfect lunch spot.

We greatly enjoyed our dinner outside on the closed street. I had a Irish dish that I had never heard of before and it was amazing. The service was great and the servers even had Irish accents.

Lots of places claim to be an 'authentic' Irish Pub but are not.The Field is TRULY authentic! I went here twice--once for lunch and returned for breakfast and each time the experience was amazing. I was seated right away and the service was way above excellent. The bartenders knew what they were doing and poured a true Irish coffee. I cannot recommend this place enough. they also have music at nights.

Love the food, always an evening eating with friends and family at the Field. Daughter and her college friends introduced us to the place years ago and we have been back many times

I wasn't super hungry when we went there with a group of 5, but enjoyed having a beverage and eating some appetizers. Will go back when I'm hungrier and try some real food!

Staff were friendly, the beers nice, but the shepards pie was well below my expectations. Dull taste, like the filling came straight out of a can. Not recommended.

Been here many times and always come away satisfied. Shepherd's Pie is great. Service is good and the Irish Pub vibe is great. Great place to grab some lunch and a beer. On street parking can be a bit tough in the Gaslamp so you my have to take an enjoyable 2 or 3 block stroll.

We returned in another visit and it was fantastic - Brendyn took great care of us and we met some interesting people at the bar.

The food itself was great, but the atmosphere would have been better without the cigar smoker hanging out at the open front door chatting up the hostess.

The food and atmosphere here are as Irish as it gets. I visited Ireland about 2 years ago and this place took me right back. The food is proper Irish and done absolutely brilliant. We had a taste of most the dishes but the beef stew washed down with a Guinness is an absolute must.

Cute little pub with great decor and fun upbeat music and atmosphere. The food was great and the servers were nice. Would come back.

The atmosphere and the service were both good, the food was ok, overall reasonable but not outstanding for better or for worse.

Stopped in prior to oyster happy hour across the street. I don't drink so just got a Pellagrino. Full disclosure, we sat outside and didn't even look at the menu. But, we had good service and they checked on us the right amount of times. Paying the bill was quick and easy. I walked the establishment and they do Irish right. Had some kind of Irish jig playing and several of the wait staff had pretty thick accents. The place itself is steeped with dark wood fnishes everywhere. I would recommend if nothing else, just to grab a drink.

Had checked out a couple of other pubs and decided on The Field. Dropped in one afternoon after a rainy outing at Balboa Park. We ordered a couple of hot Irish Coffees to warm the bones. Perused the menu of typical Irish fare and of course chose the Fish and Chips. The fries were hand cut along with three nice size pieces of fish and coleslaw. A wee bit of malt vinegar and we were set. Nice pubby atmosphere where Irish ex-pats were hanging out watching "football". Overrall good food, service and atmosphere. Happy hour from opening til 7!

We ate at Fields last night. Just OK experience, bunch of small disappointments. Asked how a local beer was, got answer on the light side, but it turned out to be a medium to heavy beer. Ate burger & corn beef sandwich. Burger & corn beer were good, but buns seemed buttered, a bit greasy. Asked for mustard and got unopened bottle of imported mustard. Looked yellow but was hot like Grey Poupon. I'm not a fan. Asked for extra crispy fries, received normal cooked ones. Service was attentive but info could have definitely been better. Out of restaurant's control was the loud Caribbean music being played by neighboring restaurant. Repetitive heavy music was not fun after a few minutes. Street activity was fun, but for us, this was a 3 star dinner.

We dropped into this pub while visiting the Gaslamp district. When you don't know the area an Irish Pub always seems like the safest bet to get some good tips and hits about the surrounding area. This experience is certainly not what was received here. The pub itself is awesome and very authentic. The design and bits and bobs all over the place was perfect. The staff on the other hand definitely did not pocess the Irish hospitality that the Emerald Isle is known for. The barman was border line rude as was the hostess walking the floor. I can't speak for all the staff but there was no sense of hospitality coming from any of the staff and it was like none of them even wanted to be there so it was a bit disappointing. I would have liked to try the food but we just had one drink and left because we really didn't feel very welcome.

Great Irish food choices and everything everybody in my group picked was delicious! The prices are reasonable, the staff was accommodating and friendly, and it was a great choice among so many choices!

I don't normally write reviews, but I was very disappointed in the conduct of this bar. On a Thursday night, the pub randomly decided halfway through the evening that an Irish driving licence wasn't sufficient form of ID so some of the group coming from dinner couldn't get in, even though most of us had gotten in on the same. The bar wasn't busy, no one was rowdy, all of the group around 30yrs old or older on a work night out. No reason at all given for the change in policy besides that it was a management decision, and that its their standing rule on Fridays and Saturdays anyway. I don't carry my passport as a rule if I'm going out, and I don't see why I should have to when I have other recognised forms of ID. I couldn't recommend it for tourists or anyone else really, no regard or respect for their patrons.
Always great
I visit here whenever my travels bring me to San Diego. On this visit my husband and I both had fish and chips and split an order of sausages. Excellent food served hot and fresh. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Great little place for a taste of Ireland.
