Top taste and service, moderate prices,

By nina1939 |

This neighborhood fish house feels like you are in a Key Largo marina with fun decor and super fresh seafood. As soon as you sit down you will be greeted with a friendly welcome and the best fish dip in town. We had the grilled skillet shrimp, mahi, and chicken with assorted sides. The long list of standard sides (fries, Cole slaw, corn, etc.) also includes local "Cuban" sides of yellow rice, black beans, fried plantains. Our server, Marta, was knowledgable, fast and friendly. Stay around in the back room for great live jazz and blues. Dinner for three not including drinks & tip $57.

The best fish in Miami

By mmmm1234 |

I have been eating at the Fish House on Miller for about 5 years now. The place is clean and has the most delicious fish dishes in town. It is a family-run business where the atmoshpere is friendly and it's one of those places where "everyone knows your name." They have a fresh fish market also with great prices. PS Don't go to the one in Pinecrest-they are not affiliated. mm

I am here now eating.

We just sat down. So far so good. This is the first time we have been here. It's 3pm in the afternoon and there is hardly anyone here.

Happy hour

Amazing. Fresh and delicious oysters for 50 cents. Draft beer 2×1 until 6 pm can't beat it. Great fried shrimps and calamari.

Great restaurant

This place is great. I visit this restaurant often with my coworkers. They have a large variety of food and drinks.

Fish, Beer and Blues!!!

By jwilli8620 |

What a great find this was in the Kendall area of Miami. My wife and I, along with another couple were looking for a seafood restaurant with live entertainment. We couldn't have been happier to find The Fish House. This is a family owned restaurant that offers a great seafood menu, including a large selection for the fresh catch of the day. Each of us had a different entry and no one had any complaints. The meals were cooked well, sized appropriately and at a reasonable price. We sat in a room called the BackroomLive, where live entertainment is available every evening. The night of our visit was a Blues night. The six piece band was terrific and throughout the evening other local musicians arrived and joined in. This made for a terrific atmosphere. The room was filled to capacity with regulars patrons, but we were not made to feel out of place. As we were leaving we struck up a conversation with Angela, the owner, she was extremely pleasant and helpful. She suggested several other restaurants with great live entertainment and several little known attractions in the area. If you are in Miami and looking for a spot off the beaten path, where the locals go, I definitely would recommend The Fish House.

Good seafood at fairly good price

By M G |

I am giving them a good review, due to the food being good and service personnel being friendly and tried hard to take care of my order. Ordered for pick-up: Fried calamari, then grouper (not available) and had to settle for Mahi-Mahi, Fish tacos. All these with the portion of rice, beans, crackers, garlic sauce, fish paste, etc. For dessert, we ordered the tartufo and tres leches (three milks) and here is where it went south. As I get there to pick-up the order, the bags were already "tight closed", so I asked straight up if "everything was there" and the answer was a solid "yes". But to no avail, got home, opened the bags and surprise, surprise...Dessert was not there (of course I paid for it). I called back and explained the situation, they were apologizing and I will have to go there to get my credit back, as I was already far from the restaurant and not interested on dessert the following day. One thing for sure, they were amicable and friendly...They were as well on the phone with me.

Humiliating

By Mary A |

I had been a customer of the Fish House for the past 10 years, but I will ever go back. My experience was very humiliating and it was because I had acertificate. Many patrons heard the ordeal and that was humiliating enough. The restaurant refuse to take my debit card as payment, my husband had to go to the bank to get money out and our dinner was ruined. I ended up throwing up my dinner after I got home and my son was highly embarrassed because i demanded they take my bank card as payment. The manager would not even come to the table to explain to us the reason, instead she sent a waiter who told us the reason they dint take credit cards is because of the fees and they don’t make any money with the coupons. I dint read their disclosure where it said it had to be cash only neither did the waitress bothered to explaining it to me when i showed her the coupon( before dinner). They turn a birthday gift from my daughter in to a horrible humiliating experienced. I even asked them to make an exception since i had been a long time customer. And to add insult to injury they fail to disclose that their seviche is made with tilapia. First I am allergic so some tilapias specially farmed raised. I am a cancer patient and have to be careful what I eat. When they first open they brought the fish every day from the Florida Keys, but I guess things have changed a lot since then. I am still very upset, this morning because I was standing for my rights to pay with a legal form of tender and they made me feel like a second class citizen. Please don’t think I'm saying this out of pride; I am just amazed as to how awful I was handled that not even the manager came to the table. I'm sure if we had spent 150.00 she would have. MS. Angela Rivero should be ashamed the way I was treated. If she doesn’t want to participate in this program, she shouldn’t, or at the very least she should train the employees to explain how the coupon works before dinner. I know is a neighborhood restaurant and the prices are fair, also the food is acceptable and pretty good. But there is no reason to treat peopl different just because they are not spending as much as the retaurant wants them to spend.

Have it All—Fresh & Wide Selection

By SayCheese |

Don’t hesitate, go! Fresh seafood and a wide range of choices. Their lunch special goes til 4pm. Had scrumptious shrimp plates, one blackened, one with a salsa and side of potatoes. Mahi boiled was excellent, as was the lobster bisque soup. We had three meals, three appetizers, three soups, for Ice-T’s, one slice of Keylime pie and it only came to $108! 🐠And to top it off, when you sit down they give you a smoked whitefish, cream cheese sampler with crackers that was over the top as well. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh!🐠🐟

Fantastic quality, family friendly

By Gerardo P |

Had not been there for close to 10 yrs, just too many choices in Miami . I was so impressed with the quality and taste. Friendly service and family atmosphere. The mussels fra diablo simply was the best sauce I've had in quite some time. You must get it with the garlic bread which was also over the top.

Nice place...nice food

By JAM |

friendly service good fresh food in this family neighborhood place. Love the oysters and the Mahou Spanish beer

Superb Lobsters!

By iglici |

Realy superb place! Very good price - performance ratio! Really very delicious and fresh! We took the lobster and oysters cooked with garlic! Fantastically delicious! Staff nice and responsive! Parking available!

Expect the unexpected

By Eldred F |

A dozen raw oysters, a plate full of Mussels Diablo, a PokeBowl, and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. What more to ask for?

A mountain of fry

By Susan C |

The fish selection was either tilpia or salmon. I got the calamari. It was a mountain of very greasy and breaded calamari. The coleslaw was too chopped. The oysters from Washington state were horrible. The only good thing was the fish dip and the service was excellent.

Miller Road Fish House

By amr1617 |

The Fish House on Miller Road is the only one left in Miami where the food is still consistently good. The origianl owners since 1995. Do not go to the SW 8th ST. because it closed doors in June 21, 2008. The Pinecrest location is a franchise that soon will close not worth to try.

Over priced

By Rroi |

They raised their prices it's not worth the increase. $19 for a fried shrimp platter? I'm been going for years but will stop going . Service is good but prices too high.

awesome ,everything is delicious aT this restaurant

By selective2015 |

the scallops are awesome, out of this world , also the mahi mahi with mango sauce is one that you shouldn't miss

Great Seafood

By Chris R |

A really nice Mom and Pops joint. The seafood is freshly prepared and the prices are pretty good. There is a raw bar for the more adventurous and a ton of cooked options are available as well. Check it out if you get a chance.

Excellent sea food

By Moniatis |

Off the beaten track, but I am glad my friend suggested we go there. A rather rustic interior adds to the atmosphere. It was Tuesday night and, therefore, 50 cents oyster night! The seafood linguini was fantastic, as for the fisherman's soup it was out of this world. Good service.

Dinner

By YourHelpfulWendy |

Wow, we finally made it here and it was a fantastic experience. I checked on my Yelp app which places around the area had live music and this one was the first one to pop out, which was perfect because I had it bookmarked. The took us to the "backroom" where they had two people playing live amazing Jazz music. We had dinner and I loved it. Fresh and affordable sushi and my boyfriend's fish was soooo fresh and delicious. They cooked it with sauteed vegetables and the taste was phenomenal. I can't wait to go back!

Local Seafood

By Travelerone1 |

The raw oysters were great. Lobster Bisque was incredible. For dinner I had the stuffed salmon. All were great. My only complaint was that it took forever to be served. They have a band that plays at nights on the weekends.

We will return

By VictoriaTravelsToo |

Don’t let the location or exterior fool you; the ambiance inside is great. As is the decor. The fish is fresh! There are few fresh fish places in fall-out-of -bed distance. It’s a nice find. Plus, this place features music four nights a week!! Jazz on Wednesday - $7 cover Blues on Thursday - $7 cover Friday & Saturday (free). Check out their website.

Happy Hour

Love it, staff very friendly food is awesome very fresh oysters love the Mahi Mahi, delicious lobster the fish dip is the best I ever had, go there at least twice a month.

The Best Fine Seafood Grill & Raw Bar, Service, Atmosphere!

By MJ778 |

This Restaurant we highly recommend. We had Maria, as our server. She was fantastic. We were refer to the Restaurant by Scotty, a server of this restaurant & server on another Restaurant as well. We order 2 dozen steam oysters(from Maryland & Washington that day) so delicious I drank the broth all up with the spoon they served along. The Octopus we order was so tender and sinful; trust me I love Octopus in any shape and form, and have had many, but no one Tops this dish. A must to repeat! We also had and enjoyed the whole Yellow tail fried dish. Remarkable tender, tasty, seasoned perfectly. The side order of yellow rice & side of black beans, not over season, spot on tasty. Must order their Large tostones (they come with home made garlic dressing on the side). They are famous for their Home made fresh daily Fish Dip, OMG! is out of this world (not greasy or too fishy on taste). This Fish Dip is a home run! They greet you with a small portion and crackers when you are seated. We order 1/2 Lbs. to go, that's how good! The Menu is outrageous there is something for everyone to eat and enjoy, including for meat and veggie lovers. On Easter Sunday, the place was very busy but we were seated promptly. The kitchen was running out the must beautifully plated dishes & service was very smooth. We asked Maria who was the Chef and She pointed out the owner/Chef José behind the Kitchen window. He is very meticulous, perfectionist, and boy José has been doing this for 30 years he sure knows how to cook, lucky for his wife/owner. All the Staff, was very friendly and professional. The Women & Men Restrooms were very clean; as well as the whole Restaurant. They offer Sushi bar seating, tall tables seating, booth tables, small tables, large family size tables. They offer two additional separate rooms towards the back of the Restaurant. The Restaurant decor is Typical/Unique Florida Keys look and theme. We highly recommend for Families, work lunches, celebrations, and fun oriented people. We saw couples, kids, elderly, young people. Their Backroom comes alive on Mondays-Saturday with Blues, Jazz and live Music. Monday's-Friday Happy Hour 3PM-6PM they offer $2 off appetizers on items $7 and up. 2X1 Draft Beer and what a selection! Also on House wine, wine bottles 50% off. Free Domestic pitcher with wings $16. 12-6 every day buckets of 5 (Bud & Bud light $10) Presidente $15, Corona $20. So if you want to feel like you are in the FL Keys, having amazing food, atmosphere, fun, this is the place for you. After all they have been around incredibly for 20 years. In addition Trip Advisor gave The Fish House "2015 Winner Certificate of Excellence" with four stars, I guess you can add one more for 2016? We know and feel is a perfect 5. The only one thing we wish they would have is an additional choice for Pinot Grigio beside Ecco Domani. We would love to highly suggest Cavit & Santa Margarita! When you have this fine dinning, a superb quality of wine for the winos is a must, lol! We are returning soon, and we are telling others. When you find something this good, it must be shared.

Disappointed

By mercedes50 |

I had gone to the Fish House about 10 years ago and was not happy then. Decided to give it another try., unfortunately I was disappointed again. The service was extremely slow I could understand if the restaurant was crowded but there were maybe 4 tables being served. This was on a Saturday night around 7:00 pm. The fish dip was average, the fish croquetas were over cooked and the musses were lacking flavor. The waitress was lost had to hunt her down for refill of water. I will definitely not return.

Great food, mostly good service

By AlexandraMel |

10 family members for a late lunch early dinner this past Sunday for our Tia Dulce that turned 91. The food was delicious. The mussels would have been better with a little bread to dip in the yummy sauce. Twin lobster tails were perfectly cooked! The service took a little long but I assume it could have been due to our 10 person table. The Mahi-Mahi was excellent, do get it with the sauce.

Wasnt expecting it...

By Seramop |

Went with my wife and kids to have some seafood on a Saturday Night. For the most part then place was pretty full but we managed to be seated right away in the music room. The lighting is dim but the music was good! Food is fresh as can be, I should know, I worked many years in seafood and it is good stuff. The only thing is the guy who was out waiter could have been a little more polite. Other than that, a good place with good food that you can take the family to. I highly recommend!

Great atmosphere

By Brenda L |

So this is the place that if you don't look fast enough you could miss it..well search this restaurant out! The staff are great, the atmosphere has a cozy nautical feel that reminds you of a little place that you'd find in Massachusetts. They bring you a plate of crackers and a tasty little seafood spread after you're seated. They have wine and beer, nothing else but they have a good selection of those things so you won't miss it. I had the fried oysters, French fries, and Caesar salad.. The oysters were cooked perfectly and you are given a nice helping. My friends ordered the sesame salmon and the cod..both looked amazing and were given great reviews. I strongly suggest you don't pass this place by. This is also a fish market by the way..

Happy hour

By Canesbiggdogg |

I went for the .50 oysters during happy hour. I have to say they were big and tasted good. There are other happy hour items that were mostly beers and wine but oysters were on point.

Fantastic Nights

By TimenSpaceTraveller |

Feeling homesick and missing live music, I was really happy I found this place. I visited here several times in 2014, as the folks here are really friendly and made me feel very welcome. You get to hear some great musicians, and Thursday evenings is jamming night, this was just amazing. The main house band of Darrell, Michael, Mel, Randy, George and Bill, are joined by some very very talented folks, providing some memorial nights. The food is very good and not surprisingly Fish is the speciality. If ever I return to Miami, this will be the first place I head for.

back room Blues night wonderful!

By Tuscancountess |

fish house is a fairly big restaurant, but there is also a "back room" whit a small stage where bands play. I went on a Thursday which is Blues night...it felt like a slice of New Orleans...great sax, great guitars... and more. there are few tables (need reservation to grab those) and food is great! I do not eat fish, but I got a Blackened chicken and it was amazing! Great fun, even with small space people were up and dancing.

very Good and fresh

By Canesbiggdogg |

went for dinner on a Monday night. We started with a dozen oysters and they were excellent. She had the tuna poke bowl and I had the oyster roll and another seafood roll. All the food was fresh and tasted good. A definite hidden gem.

Great food, great value but out of the way

By Bailey55 |

We had lunch at The Fish House and had a great meal. The seafood is fresh. The fish wasn't dry, quite moist. Would go back and eat there again. Worth the trip for the meal.

Great local fish restaurant with a flair

By 54tomas |

What a surprise, after passing by for over two decades we finally pulled in and wow what a surprise. We were greeted by Ashley and promptly seated. We ordered a margarita and glass of wine, then Ashley answered menu questions and recommended several of her favorites. We started with fish seviche and wife had the mahi fish tacos, I had the fresh grouper grilled and ended with a slice of key lime pie. All were fresh and expertly prepared. We will return soon.

Fishy experience

By nana_traveler255 |

Decided to go on Ash Wednesday for lunch. Hubby had the Oyster po-boy. I had grilled shrimp special. Food was great, Especially the shrimp. I got 12 pieces of shrimp with a generous portion of rice. Service was great. Decor was very "ocean pier" style, but I love the sea so I really liked it.

Fish spread sooooo delicious

By Gonoyo9999 |

Had grouper, snow crabs, salmon and mahi tacos. All we're a hit except for the tacos. Pass on the dessert, not great at all. Service and waitress friendly and knowledgable. Dont understand how they can run of corn especially since it's available year round in Florida.

Good seafood

By loren p |

This place looks unimpressive from the outside, but the interior is nice. We had fried oysters and fish croquettes for appetizers. Both were equally good. The main course of coconut shrimp was amongst the best we've ever had. The sides of yellow rice and tostones were also good. The service was good and I would recommend this place to friends.

Yummy Seafood

By Kelly W |

Very tasty seafood! Everything was delicious. From the fish dip they bring out when you get there through the ceviche appetizer to the lobster dinner. All yummy!

Gut it and clean it

By Geoffrey M |

What was once a decent fish house needs a refresh. The prices have jumped the shark. The food quality is not near what it once was with fresh fish, well prepared, and reasonably priced. Had the calamari and the fried coating was soggy and the squid was chewy. Try a milk bath or use fresher squid. Had a fish sandwich with grouper that was $20 dollars. That's right $20 dollars. Absurd. I say toss it back and fish elsewhere.

Great fish and live Jazz

By industry person |

We had been recommended The Fish House and were not disappointed. The huge selection of fresh fish and other dishes was amazing. Our various Mahi Mahi were great as was the service. The live jazz was also good.

Great Seafood Restaurant

By remark95 |

If you want a great seafood restaurant go no further! Get there early are you will have a wait. Upon seating, instead of bread you are given Fish Dip and Crackers. They have an extensive menue of seafood, as well as non seafood items. I ordered the Fried Shrimp, Corn on the Cobb and Ceasar Salad. Best Fried Shrimp I ever had. Perfectly cook and breaded. They give you a hefty portion as well. Their Cesar Salad is very tasty too!

Great place

By FoodLover7000 |

This place is great. I order coconut shrimp and it was good. The other people in my party said what they order was delicious as well. The waitress was nice.

Great food

By Maricel P |

Great food nice small area to have a quite dinner. Server need to not be talking to each other so much in front of customers. I would have given it a 5 star but I had an issue with the Service

Delicious seafood restaurant

By Gioia333 |

Best oysters and steamed clams. Seafood pink linguini was delicious. Prices are moderate and service was great as well, will definitely come back.

Above and Beyond GREAT

By forensic33 |

Found this out of the way place through the internet and Trip Advisor while visting Doral Florida from So. Calif. and looking for an inexpensive seafood restauant. Atmosphere is not romantic but is very friendly casual Old Time Sea Chanty motif. Prompty seated Service was excellant. Couples, families and groups were there on a Sat evening 6:30-7:00PM Got crowded as we were leaving after 8:00PM. LARGE diverse MENU and it all looked good. Crab cakes were among the best I have ever had. They were on the menu as deep fried but I asked for pan grilled and they did it that way. Took 1 "to go" and was just as good reheated!! Smoked fish dip also excellant as were the 2 dinners, Cairbean and Cuban Mahi prepartions. Not a full bar but wine and beer service. For the price, atmosphere and fresh fish/seafood can not beat this place but it is out of the way. Wis it was at home.We are going back tonight for a return trip before we leave Ffloida later int he week.

Fresh seafood

By Sudchai |

My co worker and I are in town for business and we want seafood. Found this place on trip advisor and went there tonight Feb 9 (Fat Tuesday) (Mardi Gras). The place was packed with fun people. However the hostess was extremely nice and found us a table. They offer full menu, the seafood were terrific, very fresh, and inexpensive for good seafood. I would definitely return

good and basic

I go tot the fish house in Miami about once a month. Good fish and very tasty tartar sauce. Never a wait and totally afordable.

Yummy

By jjjsfish |

We were looking for a reasonable restaurant for seafood that was not touristy. This place was great! Raw oysters were a dozen for $6. Good food and very fresh. Good service.

Great fresh fish in a casual, eclectic nautical atmosphere.

By Nancy C |

Have had lunch here twice in two weeks. The first with the "girls" from work. We had a wonderful assortment of dishes - all gobbled up. I had the shrimp with rice - kind of like a paella, but with more tomato flavor. Quite tasty. My second visit I had mani mani which was perfectly cooked and served with a salad.

Fish House dinner

By walshbrown |

We found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. What a gem. Dinner was the best we have had in Miami, We plan to come back on jazz night.

Don't expect any taste to your fish

By Dr. Rodriguez |

Don't expect any taste you your fish. I had the scampi as well as tilapia and neither had any taste to it. I also had the fried oysters and they weren't that great either. The friend oysters were very over fried. Their beer selection is very limited and don't even expect a margarita or monitor because they don't make cocktails. Although there's lack of taste in the food and a limited alcohol menu, the location is decent, indoor atmosphere is nice and staff is friendly.

Consistently Excellent

By MJ778 |

It has been a while since last review. I had Maria as my server, she is fantastic. Watched the soccer game on TV while enjoying a delicious grill octopus and the amazing black beans. I have to mention that the food is consistently excellent. Love the home made smoked fish dip. Always have to purchase extra to take home. The atmosphere is friendly, great for families, singles, seniors, the seafood is very fresh and the sushi is incredible had it many times before. They have live Jazz bands see website. I want to mention that this establishment is a big supporter in fighting against all blood Cancers. Until my next visit. Congratulations.

STILL HOOKED ON THE FISH HOUSE

By 1Trippermonth |

Been to The Fish House several times before and continue to be pleased with the meal. Very generous portions and relatively good value for the meal. Will come back.

Bisiness

By Anadalys de Armas |

The quality of the food wasn’t good for the price. The waiters was very pushing to sell the expensive items on the menu.

Food at best mediocre; service awful. Recommendation: stick to the fresh fish.

By Mrgeeee |

This restaurant has a great reputation locally for the fresh fish and many people go back again and again. We went - a party of seven - to enjoy the Mardi Gras festivities - and were hugely disappointed with the food and the service. First the good news. The smoked fish dip that is served as a complimentary appetizer - excellent! Then the large selection of beers including favorites from across the nation. And did I mention Blue Moon and Goose Island IPA on tap? Cheers! So far, so good. Since the fresh fish dinners are priced (justifiably) in the $25 range, we ordered from the more budget-friendly part of the menu. The mahi mahi was mediocre, the oyster po-boy was disappointing, and the crab cakes were mushy. My wife had peel and eat shrimp which she reported were great! For that reason I am thinking that we should have bit the bullet and ordered from the fresh fish section of the menu. For sides, I had delicious parsley potatoes and cole slaw that was grated so fine it was mushy. I recognize there are many different ideas of what constitutes good cole slaw, but I know they can do better than this one. Mediocre food can often become quite acceptable if the service is friendly, caring and efficient. We had the misfortune of being served by Richard, a man who was evidently having a bad day. His initial demeanor was harried and gruff (even though the restaurant was not yet busy.) When we indicated that we wanted separate checks for each couple, he seemed to be hassled but said he would do that at the end. When the food came, two of our party had to ask for their sides to be brought out (probably not Richard's fault). As the crowds built waiting for tables, we asked for our check - and that's where the problem began. Richard brought out the check, tossed it at us and said we would have to divide it out for him. Understanding that his desire to provide excellent service was not going to improve, we did the arithmetic, wrote down four subtotals at the bottom of the check, and passed it back to him so he could split the check as is customary. After a while he came back quite flustered and said he couldn't split it out and that we would collect the money together to cover the check. We indicated that we would be paying with plastic, gathered the cards together and gave them to him in the same order as we had broken out the subtotals, so he could ring them up one at a time. After another while (remember there are crowds of people waiting for tables), Richard came back furious and yelling that our subtotals did not add up to the total of the bill, that we were trying to rip him off! I showed him how our subtotals added up to the total of the sale without the tax and that he would have to add the tax. We had no way to calculate the tax accurately since it is a combination of sales tax and alcohol tax. He yelled that he was not going to be ripped off and that we needed to divide the whole bill into four even parts. To cut a long story short, we asked for a manager and were helped by a young lady who resolved the issue without even a hint of apology for inconvenience. Hopefully Richard got a good night's sleep and is in a better mood when you go. I, of course, will not be returning.

Battered Shrimps Incredible

By Natalia N |

I personally do not like seafood so my expectations were low, coming into the restaurant. However, when the plate came with freshly battered shrimp the flavors of the shrimp exploted beautifully, in my mouth. I was shock at how good the food was. I absolutely recommend this place.

Great neighborhood spot

By Andrew R |

Very good seafood and music at this out of the way spot with outstanding service and eclectic decor. Would come back again.

Freshest seafood!

By Susan F |

We ate there today for lunch. We split a dozen Texan oysters on the half shell; every one tasted excellent accompanied with a cocktail sauce that's a little different than the usual. The grilled octopus was done perfectly. It was super tender and seasoned so nicely. It is even served with a beautifully split and seasoned potato. The spicy tuna roll had the largest amount of fish we've ever had. Our waiter, Enrique, was attentive, but allowed us to savor our experience.

It's very good

By Sergio B |

Absurd, I went for the 2nd time and confirmed that it is excellent. Dust is the best I've ever eaten. This time we went in 6 , we managed to try various dishes. Ostra, camarão, viera, . It is worth it!!!!!!!

Lobster groupon!

By DALIA G |

First of all, I have never had lobster! So now that I got that out of the way....you can judge my judgment on this place! But I absolutely loved the lobster at this place called, The Fish House! We went during the start of happy hour, but it was not packed. Two for one drinks tho! I had the house Chardonnay, and I must say, it was good. Hubby had the Stella Artois. We started off with the lobster bisque soup for kicks... it was ok. Hubby liked it. The staff was super nice and I felt like they really took care of us. The star of the night tho, mmmmm That lobster was served just right! And it was the perfect temperature, HOT! I'm not sure what a bad lobster is so I'll describe. The lobster was tasty and tender. And that smooth butter just topped it off. We had so much fun cracking and digging into this baby that we got totally lost in the lobster dinner! Sorry i didn't check out the menu more, but we had a Groupon, so i forgot to check it out. I don't know how the prices compared. I wouldn't recommend for large families, or those with small children, but great for meeting with friends, or for couples.

Never greeted or seated

By RP1379 |

I have eaten at this restarant on several occasions. The food is good but the service, especially the hostess is hit-and-miss. This last visit we waited at the front door with 15 +/- other customers (5-7 parties) for over 15-20 minutes. The hostess and staff walked and opushed past us several times. NO ONE acknowledged any of us during the whole time! At one point a customer took it upon himself to scout out the restaurant and loudly announced that there were several tables avialable. He became very upset and started asking for an explanation. Finally the hostess stopped by and announced that there was a 30 minute wait but took no names. At this point we walked out along with 4-5 other parties. Management needs do a better job at greeting and seating the customers in a more prompt and professional manner..

Oh My...What A Great Restaurant!

By Bass4JC |

We made this our pick when visiting the area and trying to find a good seafood option. WOW! What an amazing find. We sat in the reserved booths area and received excellent service. Our choices were wide ranging; Mahi-Mahi grilled, Linguini with super sized shrimp, Caribbean Mahi with a mango influenced sauce (includes shrimp), and grilled shrimp. Everything, and I mean everything, was awesome. Salads, sides, all delicious. Got garlic bread and it was fantastic! Then dessert...Tres Leches and Key Lime Pie. Delicious. Coffee with it was even superb. Rarely do you get such a wonderful surprise, but this was among the best ever. The Fish House is an original, owned by a family for over 25 years. We will regularly be back in Miami and will always make this fabulous restaurant a MUST GO!

Recommended for the crab cakes and they did not dissappoint. Atmosphere was very relaxing and the staff was open to special requests.

Awesome Fish Sandwich

By hamlet_63017 |

If you're traveling to the suburban kendall-westchester areas of Miami and you're in the mood for an excellent seafood meal, the Fish House is the place. We particularly love their fresh dolphin (mahi) and grouper sandwiches. Their soup of the day is nearly always a must have as well. Friendly staff, casual atmosphere, excellent food.

interesting fish tacos in Miami

By martinezcm |

This restaurant is located in an area of Miami with a dearth of restaurants. Perhaps, for this reason and the fact that the seafood is fresh explains its popularity among locals. The grilled shrimp used for the fish tacos were abundant, fresh and tasty. They have an extensive menu but the dinginess of the place and the pushy waiter did not encourage to go further than the tacos and a shrimp quesadilla. The latter was also good. It is not an attractive place but the best food around the neighborhood in a city that does not shine because of its cuisine or originality for foodies. The rating of three circles is ranked among other fish shacks. In a more absolute scale two, would be generous.

Fantastic Seafood & Service

By miami M |

Fresh and Plenty are good words to describe the food at the Fish House. Unlike most seafood places they serve large portions and the oysters and fish were fresh. We visited on a Sunday night and it was crowded but the servers were both friendly and excellent. Did I mention the beer was cold too? I would recommend this place to anyone looking for high quality food in a casual atmosphere. Believe it or not, finding a good seafood place in South Florida is hard and this place moves to the top of my list. One hint - Fisherman's Rice.

Wow... You have to eat here...now

By emliu |

Great seafood. Friendly and relaxed environment. Excellent service. I LOVE the tuna dips with the saltine crackers, and that is just the beginning. You should try the clam chowder. It is amazing. I espeically enjoyed the conch fritters and steamed mussels. For the main course, I recomend the teriyaki Salmon and the shrimp wraped in bacon. Have fun.

Service Was Not The Usual

By allitati |

Normally this restaurant has good service and the value is good. On our recent visit, they were understaffed and overpriced....we were very dissapointed. When we asked the server why my food (my husband and daughter had practically finished theirs) was taking so long, she blamed me for waiting so long to order; she stated that since they had live entertainment that night, the orders placed from the other side of the restaurant (where the band was) were being filled first! We complained to the manager and they took care of us; however we did not feel we got our monies worth for what we ordered. Sign of the times or just a bad night? Not sure but we will be taking a break from this place.

Friendly folks and Excellent Seafood

This unexpectedly surprisingly good seafood restaurant is the place to go for fairly priced excellent seafood. Seek it out and enjoy some fine food and friendly folks.

Fresh seafood at a very casual, yet clean neighborhood restaurant! Open for many years

By JCofino |

SÚPER FRESH SEAFOOD at very reasonable prices, We have been going to Fish House for about 8 years. Very good seafood! If your kids are not into seafood they have very good burgers and pasta. You get fresh fish at all times! Great soups (clam chowder, lobster bisque, the Fisherman soup is a meal by itself) Nice Jalea! Great shrimp cocktails. BEST FISH SPREAD....is DELICIOUS! STRONGLY RECOMMEND!!!

Good Oysters

Came for a late lunch/early dinner. Raw oysters were really fresh. Also had some beer steamed shrimp that were delicious. Would recommend this restaurant when you're in town!

Great food and service!

By Griffie2014 |

On Father's Day we went to The Fish House for an early dinner. We had called for reservations and spoke with the owner/manager whose name is Angela. May I say that she is everything an owner/manger should be, very pleasant, professional and makes you feel welcomed and valued as a customer. Our server, Marta, who has attended us every time we go there is truly exceptional and one of a kind. Our food came out hot and just the way we ordered it; and as for their smoke fish dip, all I can say is "WOW"! If you are looking for good seafood, this is definitely the place to go.

Awesome on Sundays

By angelface52786 |

My family & I always go the The Fish House on Sudays. They are super affordable...A dozen fresh oysters will cost you $3.99...And they have the best libster bisque in town. It is a down to earth neighborhood restuarant but the food is excellent and very fairly priced. Two thumbs up!! If you go the one on 8th street and 122 avenue be sure to ask for awaiter named Enrique. He is the best!!! So friendly and attentive...

Nasty

By jazzsmin |

Ok where do I start.. I ordered a drink 20 minutes later I got it and it was warm melted rum runner and honetly tasted AWFUL.. But didn't complain and drank it to be nice. Number two, 30 minutes later still waiting for food, a HUGE ROACH craweld from underneath my table, I off course in shock and speechless quietly told the waiter so no one else would notice, because believe me I AM NICE and did not want to ruin anybody elses lunch.. he cam and literally squashed it with his foot. Then picked up with a napkin.. THATS IT... It was unreal! My food came imediatley after, and I tried to put the roach out of my mind and just deal with it....the food tasted so bad. Really, how do you get tilapia sandwich wrong... the fish just had batter no seasoning whatsoever.. My kids ordered chicken fingers, it tasted like fish cause the use the same batter and oil for EVERYTHING. and finally... as if it could not get worse, they give us our bill, NO DISCOUNT or appology... we paid... We left and the waitress comes running after us cause she charged us the wrong table... so we paid again...and she told us she voided the wrong table We get our amex bill and we got charged for BOTH tables... This place is a total disaster... 8th street and 122... just awful GO at your own risk.

Poor service, Dirty place

the waitress kept forgetting order, never put water, and finally after 1 hr waiting served plate with a hair in it. I asked for water and came with dirt on bottom

Great fish, live music

By twhite4809 |

The Fish House is a rustic little place tucked in a nondescript strip shopping center in west Kendall. However, the place has great fresh fish at bargain prices. I don't recommend it as a tourist destination, but certainly worth it if you live anywhere in this part of Dade county. There is live music several nights a week, but it can vary in style and quality quite dramatically. One time we heard some members of the great UM jazz band. Another time it was a one man band of considerable less talent, although some patrons thought he was great. The good thing is that you have the option of sitting in the front section, on the left as you come in, where you can't hear the music at all - which is in the back most room. Service is very prompt and personable, but not "hi I'm your new best friend for the next hour or two".

The Florida Keys in Miller... This is it!

By rafos |

For a great value in fresh oysters, awesome Florida spiney lobster and the best fish in town this is it! Forget about the glitzy places in Miami Beach and the Miami River. Venture west to this authentic place. Share with family and friends. We moved to Miami only 4 years ago and have searched for a better place and always come back to Fish House. Live entertainment Friday and Saturday evenings. Make sure that Juan is your server; all are nice, but Juan is your man! Have fun!

Great Seafood!

Great, great seafood. Smoked fish dip is fabulous. Wonderful fresh oysters. The grilled octopus is the best!

Nothing fishy here

By Robert M |

It was pretty interesting visiting this particular place, my wife wanted some fried fish but not from some dingy place and we were not disappointed as this place proved to be quite nice with excellent service as well as speedy. The wait time was zero, luck or good service only time will tell as well as a return visit to verify which I definitely will do, the waiters were courteous and friendly almost felt as if I was back home except the music was cool jazz instead of reggae which was surprising since the location would dictate Hispanic but never the less it was very nice. As you know we were not here for the atmosphere! So how was the food? It was superb the fish not salty which was a surprise as most fried fish places chose to season with a lot of salt, not good for those with BP. Which allowed us to taste the flavors of the seasoning which was quite Reminiscent of the island flavors all in all it was a good visit. Will be back.

Consistently Outrageous, Locals Favorite and Tourist Favorite

By MJ778 |

We have become attached to this Restaurant because of the great quality of the food and service ! Plus AMAZING deals during Happy Hour. Now they have this wonderful new young Chef, her name is Monica from Miami Dade College Culinary School, Wolfson Campus. Located in Downtown Miami. The Fish House and this talented Chef are serving Sushi Bar specialties after 5:00 pm. Poke, shrimp, salmon, octopus and himachi. Raw Bar Tiraditos: salmon, hamachi, scallops. Sushi Rolls: spicy tuna, hamachi, salmon, fried oysters etc. I asked the Chef who inspired her cooking, and she told us that her Grandmother Stella did. "Our Grandmother with her cooking kept Our Family together" she stated. Her Grandma Stella got to cook with Julia Childs. Her Grandmother Stella had her own restaurant in New York. You must come and try her cooking and see the preparation of these dishes. Her presentation and taste are spot on. We order the Poke appetizer Octopus which was delicious, we also order the Poke hamachi which was great. In addition we order to take home the spicy tuna sushi rolls, again delicious and great! If you do not care for spice, make sure you tell your server to relate that to the Chef. The Fish House has a great Team of employees: Maria, Martha, Ivon, Maidoly, Josephine, Richard, Juan, Nestor, Alberto, Noel, Ezequiel, and many others. From the Chefs in the kitchen, to the owners Angela and Jose. Incredible service, accommodating, caring, friendly Team members that work hard for your experience to be as memorable as the food is. Now, with Monica's new twist on seafood dishes we are super pleased. The location is great inside a shopping plaza, good parking and don't forget the Jazz and Blues live Bands in the Back Room: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday ! If you are a Fresh Seafood lover this is the place for you !

Outstanding fish sandwich

By Zubin B |

We were looking for a good grilled fish sandwich and came upon the fish house. The specialty fish sandwich is mahi-mahi grilled and it was perfect. Large piece of fish could easily feed two. Our server Maria was excellent. We were very pleasantly surprised. Definitely coming back here.

Great food served by the best personnel

If you are looking for fresh seafood cooked with excellent recipes, this is the ideal restaurant. Add to that a proper wait to prepare them, friendly servers, and the best conch soup in town. As a bonus, they welcome you with crackers and a delicious seafood dip, for free!.

We found this place the last day of our vacation before flying home. Looks like a Dive Bar in strip mall but looks can be deceiving, The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Owner came by our table to ask how the food was, Nice Touch.

Music was great

Enjoyed the music group. Excellent band. The service was a bit hectic and I do not remember the food. I was disappointed that there was a cover charge but the band was worth it

Great restuarant!! Best lobster bisque and very tasty homemade fish dip. Beautiful Sushi Bar. Owners have been here 23 years always finding ways to add new dishes. Hard working and very involved. Menu has many choices. Definitely worth checking out. Very experienced and friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend trying this neighborhood restaurant out.

From the first bite to the last EVERYTHING here was amazing! The food was so good and I loved the rustic look interior. Crab cakes to die for, sea scallops, coconut shrimp, fish bites and everything else in between was perfect. FAST service and great seafood, what more could you want! Going back again and again for sure. I HIGHTLY recommend this place if you love good seafood then go for it. If you won't be disappointed! I LOVE THIS PLACE!

Fabulous value

By António VB |

Fantastic seafood, service and decor. All at a great value. I strongly recommend this place for proper well prepared seafood, something I rarely find outside Portugal (where I am from). It makes you feel you are by the seaside and everything is very fresh. I will be back next time I am in Miami!

Come for the food.. Stay for the show !

By DDayMiami |

This place is family run.. Most everything is made in house.. They feature live music (jazz, blues, etc) and celebrate all the great events with gusto. Quirky decor and owners Angela & Jose are fun too ! A great local neighborhood spot for great, fresh food and a fun time. Best fish dip around and I'm partial to the shrimp po-boy.

Fresh fish in an unpretentious location

By TravelFivers |

The Fish House boasts fresh fish in an unpretentious location. The place is tucked into a typical strip mall on 56th St (Miller), with parking difficult to come by during peak times. Inside, it's the standard wood beams, chunky furniture, tacky nautical decorations and flat screens tuned to various versions of sports channels. Further inside (in the kitchen), someone knows how to handle seafood. Was served what may be the best peace of sea bass I've ever had: fresh and simply grilled to perfection without sauces or other cover-ups. Sides are bigger portions than you'd expect. My lunch buddy said his side salad was terrific. Lunch specials in the $9 to $11 range. Dinner and the fish-of-the-day selections run higher. Service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely use their 50% off coupon next time (thank you acielesz for the recommendation).

Fantastic

By Miguel L |

Our waitress was fantastic & loved the food. we had their: bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp bacon wrapped scallops fisherman soup blackened shrimp parmesan shrimp fish dip conch fritters all of it was completely delicious except for the fritters. the fritters taste was nothing special and way over priced. but the rest was just absolutely great. definitely will visit again

Great spot for seafood!

By Dee C |

I came for lunch on a Sunday and was very happy with the service. The food was very tasty (especially the calamari and coconut shrimp appetizers) and the service was great. I would definitely recommend this place if you like seafood.

Food Was OK, But...

By miamiair |

After hearing and reading about this establishment, we went yesterday to give it a try. First of all, it is in a strip mall, so you may miss it if you blink. There is plenty of parking. Upon arrival, I told the hostess it was a party of 5. We were sat in the back room where they played live music. You would think on a Friday they would have a band, not one guy with a guitar and an iPad. While waiting to be seated, I was watching the sushi chef do her prep work and was fascinated by her skills. The waitress showed up after a while and took our drink and appetizer order. Conch fritters were excellent, and that is where the story starts taking a slide. The menu allows no substitutions, they want an up-charge, which didn't turn me off until I saw the portions sizes. For the price I paid in the salmon, I could have gotten a much larger portion at a comparable establishment. All the food was excellent (except the burger, stay away from it). The portion size as I mentioned, is small. And it was a turn off for the prices on the menu. I'll keep going to the comparable establishments, if you know what I mean.

Don't be fooled by the plain exterior and interior!

By J H |

Having asked the hotel to book a top notch fish restaurant for our group I must admit I was a bit surprised when arriving outside and seeing this place, even more when coming in. Fantastic decoration throughout the place and very friendly and all worries were gone the second we sat down and the guy came over to take our orders. What a menu, and every dish was delicious! There is love for fish food put into everything they do, and we all had a great eating experience here. Strongly recommended if you're in this area and even if it's a bit out of the way for you. You will never forget this restaurant and the amazing food you had, was it fish or shellfish!

The Freshest Food

By Deborah16300 |

This place is worth going out of your way for, if necessary. The service is excellent and the food is so fresh and good. We visited for Mother’s Day and oh boy what an amazing treat. The soups were so delicious; mine was lobster bisque and the others ordered clam chowder. The fish dip is sooo delicious, I asked for another serving. The waitress gladly obliged. The appetizers were indescribably scrumptious. The main entrees did not disappoint either and the portions were so hefty. There was plenty to take home to enjoy another time. I greatly appreciated the ambiance there and plan to return soon. Oh, the prices are comparable to other restaurants but they serve bigger amounts. You get a lot of bang for your money. Thanks to everyone!

Very good

Nice restaurant in a location where you wouldn't think there would be such a great seafood restaurant. Food was great and service was good. Everyone enjoyed their food. We'll be back.

BEST meal so far! We made the mistake of eating at tourist central last night. Today we drove to and from Key West and had time to look for REAL food. Nothing more REAL than this place. Great food, great wine, great music, AND I’m assuming GREAT owners (I THINK the hostess was actually the owner) she treated me, my husband, and my 3 children like we were her closest friends. Food was fresh and staff was friendly, what more could you ask for!?

Our favorite for Over a Decade

By Robert H |

The Fish House is a "Gotta Go to" restaurant for your "bucket list." Fresh, always fresh, with Florida favorites. The menu features both Florida/Bahamian/Caribbean style preps and Japanese-styled sushi/shashimi/poke. Tuesdays are "oyster on the 1/2 shell special" day, with a dozen oysters at $9. That is what I had a dinner, with a Bahamian conch chowder to finish off dinner. The fish spread is a delight! Thursday's are Blues Night" with live enetertainment. Reservations for the Thursday music room are a must.

Quality seafood

By Lisy P |

My husband and our 3 children dined here yesterday. We were looking for a seafood spot and it's a location that is usually hard to choose because not all places serve it fresh. We were so surprised. The waiters/hostess and everyone were friendly. The service was great. They say us in the live band room and the music was great. The musician interacted with all of us and he joked and sang and it was such a great atmosphere. They bring saltine crackers to the table with a smoked fish dip which is made in house and delicious! Our kids ordered chicken fingers and fries which were really good. My husband ordered a shrimp po boy. The shrimp was so fresh and tasty. I ordered the snow crab legs. Everything was fresh and delicious. All I can say is that we found a new spot that is great for families, entertaining and their food is exceptional and fresh! The staff at The Fish House is doing an exceptional job!

Great fish and service!

By Griffie2014 |

Found this restaurant last week thru the internet as I was searching for a good fish place in Miami. My husband and I had such a great experience, great food and great service, that we returned again to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday this weekend. Beside the great food, our server, Marta, was such a pleasant and extremely friendly individual that it made us want to come back and ask for her. She truly is very customer focused and checked in on us frequently making sure our drinks were filled and that our food was to our tasting. The smoke fish dip that is served with crackers is absolutely awesome!

Unexpected Goodness

By Jim M |

My friend's son and his wife took us to this family run restaurant. We were greeted immediately and seated within 10 minutes. While waiting, we were able to browse the fresh fish case and watch them shuck oysters. This is not a "fancy" place but it was busy and clean. Juan our server appeared immediately with a smile and menus. We asked about wine and he brought 5 of his favorites to the table. He recommended an Argentine Malbec and, it was delightful. My friend had octopus and a salad. This was an appetizer but a very large and tender octopus. I had grilled grouper over a house salad. The grouper was done to perfection and the portion was almost more than I could eat. The food arrived in a timely fashion -- all in all, we were very pleased with the service. Family run restaurants are great. Please try this one. Thank you to Juan for the excellent service.

Service Unacceptable.. Seafood fresh but nothing special

By italiano7711 |

Service is unacceptably slow. Seafood is fresh, but nothing out of the ordinary being from a city very close to the water. Went on a Tuesday (half-priced dozen raw oysters). Our 1 1/2 dozen oysters took exactly 50 minutes to get to my table. Other tables experienced the exact same frustrating delay. Our entrees arrived 30 minutes before. A complete disregard for timing and service. I think they delay the raw oysters on purpose to prevent too much consumption on half-price Tuesdays. I've been to innumerable oyster bars before all over the country and I've never seen anything like it.. First and last time going to this restaurant. There are simply too many excellent seafood restaurants and oyster bar options in Miami and the keys.

From the atmosphere, service, food quality this is the seafood place to eat at when in Miami. A very nice embedded in the neighborhhod style seafood restaurant. Definitely worth waiting 30 minutes and I see why the food was Excellent-5-Star(*****)!!!!!

The soup was good

By Joefern |

Had a craving for fried shrimp but was no where near the best place in Miami. So I stopped at Fish House. I know this place has been here a while and has a good reputation. If only been here once and they've definitely changed it since then. It's now more "Keys style" with a Cuban touch. The staff is very warm and welcoming. My waiter, Richard, was an older guy with a relaxed nature and sophisticated sense of humor. They start you with a sample of their fish dip but it was served in a cup only a little larger than a thimble. It was very good though. I ordered the fish soup and the fried shrimp with a side of tostones (fried plaintains). The soup was very good but had lost its temperature by the time it arrived. It also arrived with the shrimp that were nice and hot. So it was a scramble eating everything at once. The soup was full of fish, veggies, rice and had nice flavor. The shrimp seemed fresh not frozen and were on the small size although they was at least a dozen in the order. They lacked seasoning and were a little overdone. The tostones were nicely done although obviously frozen (which is how most restaurants here get theirs anyway). The menu is huge and included a "sushi grade tilapia". That might be something but I'd never heard of that and just sounded funny. $3 fountain sodas are out of control. I'd come back to try something else but won't be in a hurry.

Great Mom and Pop for local seafood!

By Wendy A |

This place has it all! It is only a 20 minute drive from the airport. It is fun, casual, friendly and most of all it has fresh seafood that won't break the bank! If you like music they have different types throughout the week. The owners are always there so you know things run well. They do wonderful catering too!

Worst birthday lunch

By Miami7820 |

Went there for lunch ordered fried shrimp which on the menu it states it comes with 2 sides from chef section but was told only one with side then tried to use coupon for 50% off entree but was then told it did not apply to lunch but no where on coupon did it state that. Also showed the waiter at the beginning the coupon and he never told us that or we would of order from dinner menu. The waiter looked clueless about the coupon. Also we had to ask to get our drinks filled. Poor service.

Excellent fresh seafood! The calamari was wonderful. The service was a little slow, but the place was packed. It was a great experience!

Managers/Owner Review

By Angelini C |

This review goes to the lady owner or the manager we are not sure. Anyhow a red headed unpleasant, uneducated and very aggressive "lady". After having consumed dinner for two and 4 beers later, this "lady" had the audacity to asked us to surrender our table or to continue consuming beverages. In light of this, I asked for check. Once on our way out I summoned the "lady" and told her that since she had been so "polite" we were leaving and never coming back. This lady was totally oblivious to the fact and did not hesitate for a moment to give our table to another couple. Typically of Miami, people is not allowed to expect good service at a restaurant. All in all the service at this restaurant is very good and the food is OK. The manager or owner is the one that should learn how treat people.

A taste of NOLA in Miami

By Gus L |

Stopped in for lunch after hearing from several friends how good this place was. Well I am happy to say I was not disappointed. The staff are all very friendly, food was delicious and the beer was cold. What else can you ask for. I give this place two thumbs up and I look forward to coming back. They will be doing a big party for Fat Tuesday, 3 bands and a craw fish boil. How can you go wrong with that.

Locals know best

By Bea Llama-Rosabal |

This unassuming restaurant in an inconspicuous little mall is one of Miami's hidden gems. The seafood is as fresh as it gets and the menu is comprehensive, including a Peruvian-inspired ceviche selection and a wide variety of sushi rolls and dishes. I always have the Ceviche Nikkei (tuna), my go-to. And we start with buffalo shrimp, the craving that gets us over there every time. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is super relaxed (shorts ok!). But if you seek more of a date night, the room in the back with live blues is where you need to sit. BTW, if you're not feelin' salty and crave meat instead, have the churrasco. They rule both the surf and the turf.

Amazing

By Anheidy A |

Amazing sushi Best I ever had, this place has the best whole fried fish Delicious fresh fish that the cook Christian makes in deferent ways I love this place the service was good as well

Good Seafood--bad smell!

By Andrea C |

The Fish House makes excellent shrimp. They serve each entree w/ two sides (salad, slaw, rice, corn, plantians, black beans). Service and atmospher is fine. Get the coupon from their web site and pay 1/2 for the second entree. Only negative is that the place always smells like clorox.

Good seafood in the Kendall Area

By Catherine M |

My husband and I have eaten at the Fish House before, but we hadn't been in a while so we stopped in on a Friday night and were glad we did. When you enter the restaurant you feel like you are stepping into somewhere down in the Keys because there are boat and fish related things everywhere you look, which adds to the charm of the place. There is seating at the front of the restaurant and toward the back. We were led to the back of the restaurant to a booth. Our waitress came over and took our drink orders right away and was very friendly. (They have pretty good drink specials.) She made sure if we had any questions about the menu to please let her know. She did not rush us, but gave us time to browse the menu, which even though is mostly with seafood there are a variety of ways they cook it. While we waited she brought some crackers with a delicious seafood spread. My husband ordered the lobster bisque soup to start, which was delicious and we got an order of conch fritters, also very good. For the main course I ordered the Fried Seafood Combination plate that comes with fried shrimp, calamari, fish and scallops. It came with two sides so I picked the Caesar salad and parsley potatoes. My husband ordered the Sea Scallops scampi style, which were so buttery they melted in your mouth. While we enjoyed our dinner we could hear the live entertainment, which was an added bonus. Overall between the service, food and entertainment we had a wonderful evening. I definitely recommend the Fish House to anyone living or visiting the Kendall/South Florida area.

Still good

By Levi70 |

I have been going to this place for years, I like the live music and certain dishes are very good. On a recent visit I noticed is that they have raised the prices. A bit disappointing but it is a business after all. Don't expect the best service when a major celebration is in place, they get very busy and it is sort of understandable so enjoy your time there best you can. My friend ordered a burger with cole slaw, came with fries, when she told the server her response was "we ran out." Hmmmmm.... And this was early in the night, I did not like that. Only choices to drink were wine and beer. Just my two cents, there is always room for improvement. But.... I will continue going there.

Excellent Fish

By Rockrolex |

Two couples had dinner there last night. The yellowtail snapper was very fresh. The conch fritters were to die for. The key lime pie for dessert was out of this world.

The fish here is amazing. My family and I have been looking for a place where they sell good quality seafood and we finally found it! This place also has live jazzy music some of the days of the week, and the service was phenomenal! Their ceviche is so good.

Food Worth Stopping For

By Chris N |

Huge menu of seafood, Po Boys sandwiches, Sushi, and Ceviche. Excellent service, good selection of draft beers. The Bahamian Conch Chowder was excellent as was the Yellow tail snapper. My wife had a shrimp Po Boy that was huge, one son had Spicy Tuna Roll and Hamachi Roll sushi and the other Corvina Ceviche. The key lime pie was a good way to end the meal.

A (good) fishy experience.

Friendly atmosphere, nice servers, had lobster bisque and broiled scallops, both were very good. I specially liked the fish paste and crackers' appetizer.Could eat that every day! The prices were a bit high, but they also have a Lunch Menu with some dishes that are reasonably priced. I will return to try other dishes.

Great food

Great food, awesome service. I love the fish dip. Yellow tail snapper was great. The lobster bisque was delicious.

Terrific food, ambiance and service!

Don't be scared off by the "strip mall dive bar" appearance of the outside. Incredible food, ambiance and service, generous portions, reasonable prices; great value, a must while in the area.

Always great seafood

Well worth the visit. Have been to this restaurant several times and the seafood is always good. One of those neighborhood institutions that feel as if they'll be there forever.

New Orleans/Key West in a strip center!

By Ronald B |

My wife and i dine all over the world and The Fish House is as good as it gets. Wonderful, hard-working owners, fabulous seafood and un-seafood dishes, great waitress, and an atmosphere that can not be described. I read one report that said that it was old and not clean. RIDICULOUS! It was a mixture of New Orleans and Key West with a whole broiled fish prepared better than $200 ones that I've had in Hong Kong! Without getting into a long story, just go there and order anything on the menu and i promise that you will be satisfied. Their skillets looked awesome, fajitas in a non-Mexican restaurant, amazing! The separate entertainment room makes you look around for Cajans walking around and I was waiting for a Preservation Hall jazz guy to walk in! (New Orleans) In closing, I can't say enough about the owners, unique atmosphere, seelction of food and quality of food. A couple could eat there for $25 or $75. Either way, they will have a good a meal as it gets. Bravo Fish House!

Absolutely amazing!

One of Miamis Best Seafood Restaurants I've visited. Loved their motto"We are not fancy, we are fresh" and let me tell you, I've traveled to Naples for Conch Fritters but not anymore, this place has the BEST and FRESHEST OYSTERS AND CONCH FRITTERS in Miami. Loved the Happy Hour that included Oyster at .50 cents, Monday to Friday 3pm to 6pm The Conch Fritters have the correct consistency, crunchy outside, soft and Delicious with real Conch tangy flavors. The Lobster Sushi Roll, I would have never thought but OMG, DELICIOUS, made with Fresh Lobster Tail. This Restaurant just made its way to my top 5 favorite Restaurants to visit. My family and I enjoyed it to the max.

Good Seafood

By Tim P |

For some unknown reason Miami does not have what I would consider good seafood restaurants but considering it's location the Fish House is one of them. My wife and I dined there not too long ago and really enjoyed it. Located in a small strip mall if you didn't know it was there you may mis it. Fish was very fresh and the sides were extreely goos. And the fish spread the provide as an snack was great. I also felt the prices were fair. My only problem was the noisey adult birthday party with children eunning around and that's not the restaurants fault but the inattentive parents. Overall a good seafood diner.

Rubbery shrimp

By Andrea C |

What has happened? We used to depend on a great fried shrimp plate here. The shrimp plate is $15. And can be blackened, grilled, or fried. It comes with two sides ( slaw, salad, Caesar, fries, potatoes, rice, black beans etc.). This, however, is not a deal if the shrimp are old, rubbery, and tiny. Service was wanting. We had to re-request our salads, water, and check. I hope this is just an isolated occurrence but both our dishes were the same :(. Go on line to get the half off coupon before you go.

Food is good but place a bit tacky

By Gary J |

Went as it had decent reviews. They had a live band playing who were quite good but it was a bit difficult to order any food/drinks during play. Overall place is a bit out of date and tacky. Food was good and good value. Staff engaging and friendly. Worth going if you do not expect too much.

raw fish

By Ricardo P |

A fish house that gives you the skinny part perfectly cook and thick part uncook . Any dive in the florida keys can do this better. The least you should expect in a fish restaurant is that they know how to cook a fish. Will never go back, expensive and bad food.

The Fish House- Kendall Florida

By Dinora S |

This was our first time eating at this fish house and we enjoyed our meal. The staff was friendly and the wait time was good. Not a long wait at all. The food is great. Feel free to enjoy eating at this restaurant

Disappointed

By KSH50 |

Reviews online were good, but I wasn't impressed. The conch dinner consisted of batter fried tough and chewy conch. My wife's grouper was good, but sides not so much. The chardonnay by the glass was so so. Other dinners seemed quite happy, maybe we ordered wrong.

Not the best

By Audra K |

The place was very dirty and food was less than good. The service was okay, but overall the value for the food was not great. I personally would never go back again.

Seafood and Music

By Julee59 |

The oysters at noon were outstanding - cold and minerally and with just enough substance. They were a dollar apiece and worth even more. But when we came back for the music Thursday night - blues jam - we were blown away. The back room doesn't hold more than 100, and every seat is great. The $5 cover charge and the $25 bottle of "not bad" wine seemed ridiculously affordable. Gotta go back, and often. The other food is good too, with that Latin touch that infuses the output of almost every eatery in Miami.

Casual Fresh Fish Place that's Yum!

By DaliMama327 |

I really enjoy meals at the Fish House on Miller. The food is consistently good and the staff very nice. My favorite is the Buffallo Shrimp and Grouper. Everything is always fresh and tasty. The place itself is has some crazy pirate theme decor that no matter where you look, whether the wall or ceiling, you will find something. This makes it fun! There is fresh fare on display in a glass refrigerator right has you walk in so you there is no mistake you are in a seafood place. This is a great neighborhood restaurant visited by many locals.

Very good seafood platter

By Gary W |

The Fish House has a wonderful seafood platter. I had fish, scallops, calamari and shrimp with plantains. I can eat a lot, but I had to take some home. I also had sangria wine, which was okay.

Still Awesome

By Esthersitajr |

I’m a local and had not gone back to this restaurant in years . Took my daughters for the first time for dinner . To my surprise it was even better that I remembered. The food is always fresh and amazing . Same great family style service and the Sangria was out of this world. I will definitely be going back more often .

Exemplary service and food

By Patricia L |

This is definitely a one-stop diner for all things seafood. I had the chance of eating some fresh stone crab claws. It had been quite a few years since my last stone crab claws and those were at a very expensive restaurant. These stone crab claws were fresh as were the jumbo shrimp served up in my fried coconut shrimp order. The fried calamari were lightly breaded and cooked to perfection, not over cooked hard or rubbery. The oysters were also fresh and their fish dip is delicious.

Tuna and Conch are Must Try!

By Steve C |

I have been here a few times to have a drink or listen to live music, but this is the first time I've eaten here, and now aren't I the fool? Yes! The food ROCKS. Here's why: * Gator Bites - Tony was thoroughly impressed. They were well tenderized prior to serving and very satisfying! * Conch Fritters - one of my favorites. Despite the fact that this place does a high volume in fried fare, the conch flavor came through fresh, loud and clear so I appreciate that they clearly rotate fry oil with the frequency. #SCORE! Fresh, rustic, delicious! * Tuna Tartar. WOW. This dish (thank you Angela!) was MY FAVORITE! It really left an impression with everyone in our 5-person raiding party. Fresh, raw, tasty, made to order, and tossed in a proprietary blend that includes lime, soy, a hint of ginger a lil garleeek. WOW again. Must try. Lightly dusted with sesame seeds. * Smoked Fish Dip - It came highly recommended from the New Times and CBS and who knows whom else. I'm a bit of a smoked fish expert. I found this to be creamy, made with cream cheese, fine and smooth with a spreadable consistency - made daily with mainly with mahi mahi and tilapia, never with shellfish, simple and awesome. I want more. #SCORE! * Fish Croquettes - Excellent and fresh, they made me a fan even though I'm not generally into croquettes. * Lobster Bisque - I didn't try it, but I heard perfect-hair Rodney moaning as he inhaled his serving, so I assume it was awesome. * Fresh Oysters - The side sauce was super fresh, I like the hint of lime, mine would've benefited from more horseradish but still delish! * Awesome proprietor! Angela and Jose rock! Excellent service. Excellent music. Maverick Music was in the house and they come highly recommended too, because the back room was packed with an awesome vibe, awesome crowd, lots of good energy, hugs, and laughs. Highly recommended! Cabeza OUT!

Wow, what a surprise!

My wife and I were visiting Miami Beach and she had a craving for grilled octopus, not sure why but I did my usual and found the Fish House. It wasn't close but we decided to make the trip. The location and the outside of this place is very deceiving, if I had not come from such a distance I might not have gone inside. That would have been a big mistake. This place is great, the decor is very campy. It is decorated with lots of wooden fish, old signs and a pirate. Now the food, everything was oustanding, raw oysters, steamed shrimp, ahi tuna and of course, grilled octopus. The value of this place was great, I eat at alot of seafood places, can't beat theses prices. They also have a separate jazz club that operates in the back, hopefully we can get back to the Fish House before we leave to get some more awesome seafood and listen to smooth jazz music!

Oh, yeah, and that burger...

By Bea Llama-Rosabal |

Let me just disclaim that this is my second review of The Fish House. My first 5-star review involved mostly seafood dishes. This time, though, I stayed on land. I was not feeling the seafood vibe when my husband had one of his frequent Fish House cravings. But I remembered watching a very well presented burger go by last time and wondering if it would be any good. So, off we went to The Fish House. Again. I ordered the Nikkei Cebiche as an appetizer (can't skip it, it's THAT good), and the burger for lunch. And today, The Fish House earned my overall-great-food-no-matter-what-mood-you're-in badge of excellence. That burger was one of the best I've had in Miami. The bread was dense and soft, holding tight until the end and not falling apart. And the patty was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. My son had the chicken wings, reporting that they were great. So next time you and yours can't decide what you're in the mood for, The Fish House will please everyone, land lubbers and salt-lifers alike.

Always on point.

The never seem to disappoint me.! Always the freshest seafood. Love the oysters! The best is the little free fish dip each person gets. It's so yummy. I come at least one a month. Most of the time the have live entertainment.

Favorite Fish Restaurant

By Griffie2014 |

My husband and I frequently dine at The Fish House either by ourselves or with several couples. The service and ambiance is great and the food is fresh and perfectly cooked. I usually call and speak with Angela, the owner, to make reservations and she is always so pleasant and accommodating. We also always request to be seated with Juan who makes us feel welcomed and makes sure our meals are cooked exactly the way we order it; he is truly exceptional. If you like tostones, they make the BEST, thin and crispy, and Juan's Cuban coffee is excellent.

Excellent Seafood, Local Music, Treated Like Family....

By DanLevineCPA |

I just cannot get to the Fish House enough. I try to sneak away there for lunch during the work day and often try to get by in the evenings for great food and local live music. The food and service have always been excellent, but what really sets the Fish House apart as a great local place is the people and ambiance. Angela and Jose (the Owners) and their staff always make you feel like family. And I can tell you first hand that they also do a lot to give back to the community at large--sponsoring charitable events, local musicians and regularly allowing others musicians to use their "Backroom Live" for fundraisers and musical adventures. I always love the complimentary fish dip on arrival. I cannot decide which I like more--the "Jalea Mixto" or "Ceviche Mixto". I will just have to continue getting both! Or should I get the Fisherman's Soup? Or the Shrimp Po Boy? Dan

Best restaurant during 3 week vacation

By SouthlakeDD |

I organized a reunion of friends and family recently . We went to Miami, Tampa,Naples, Ft. Myers and cruised in the Caribbean. To kick off this monster vacation we researched multiple options for dinner at each venue. Long story short. Miami was going to be a challenge . Many excellent options. We opted to get off the beaten path and discovered The Fish House. Everything was outstanding . Every appetizer, every entree. We were just lucky to be there on a Friday night and had a table back in the music room. Excellent jazz band entertained us. We had a crowd. Everyone raved. I was fortunate to host . Go to this place. Excellent seafood. Excellent service. Just go

DELICIOUS SEAFOOD-GOOD PRICES

By Jessie623 |

Picked this restaurant from Google due to its proximity to my hotel and it was an excellent choice. Great variety of seafood. I had fried oysters as an appetizer that were huge and very fresh. Had great shrimp scampi as an entrée, Sides were good and the servers were helpful. Would definitely eat there again when in Miami.
