Need a place for a wonderful business lunch? My go to choice from now on will be the Florentine. Classy without being pretentious. Excellent service and attention to details from the staff that greets you to the bus boys. Everyone addresses you with utmost politeness and is most helpful to make your dining experience superior. And the food... on the menu it looks ordinary enough, but each dish is well plated and expertly seasoned. My butternut squash soup was slightly disappointing as it was really bland, but the brussel sprout salad, the Italian Sausage Entree, and the Chicken Paillard were all beautifully presented and each has a tweak of interest. All food was perfectly done and presented hot. Service was thoughtful but not rushed. Very nice wine list and dessert menu. As this is in the JW Marriott it is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. There is also a large bar area for those just wishing a cocktail. Will definitely visit again.

Fabulous little place tucked away inside the JW Marriott in the Financial District. Perfect spot for a private luncheon, following a private, guided tour of the Rookery (just across the street). We had the butternut squash bisque and spinach salad for starters, then moved on to a choice of main -- salmon on brioche (quite good), pork milanese (also very good), and butternut squash ravioli (excellent!). Quite pricey for lunch with wine -- about $80/person -- but it was delicious and memorable. Excellent service. Would definitely go again.

This is a great place for breakfast just off of LaSalle Street. Not cheap, but the food is very well prepared and the service is very capable. Room is not noisy and the tables are far enough from another to promote any discussion.

We were looking for a quiet place to have a family dinner. This restaurant is not quiet at 6-7 pm when the afterwork crowd hits the bar. It did quiet down when they all left and we had an excellent meal....diners said it was the best steak they had in years. I had butternut squash soup and ravioli which was also excellent. The staff was attentive and accommodating as well.

The hotel lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas and is elegant. The food at the Florentine was delicious! The service though, was very slow to take our order, then to serve it.

We were here for a pre-Marathon pasta buffet so I can’t tell you much about the menu, but the food was fabulous! And it that’s possible the service was even better! I’m going to spell his name wrong, but Cashmere was excellent! He had a great sense of humor and made the meal even more fun. We did get so sample a variety of pastas, vegetables, chicken breast, and dessert cookies. Everything was outstanding. If their regular menu is this good, you can’t go wrong! The Malbec was a perfect compliment to a wonderful meal.

I think about it now, I should have had the pizza. But I didn't. I ordered the short ribs - heck, it is 3 degrees out. They sounded good. Unfortunately, they were not. Neither was the bread. And, well, the decaf coffee was pretty bad too. It was a non-drinking business dinner, but I still hoped to enjoy my food. The service, though, in the light of a very large, bustling, and vocal (bring earplugs) crowd, was fast, courteous, and very attentive. Five stars for service. One star for food.

First time here....always looking for great authentic Italian restaurants in Chicago and this one was amazing. At the recommendation of our waiter, we started with the roasted meatballs on a bed of polenta. Some of the best I've had (and I'm pretty picky when it comes to spending a lot of money at a restaurant) For the main course, my wife got the Pappardelle al Forno, which were large homemade noodles (similar to lasagna noodles) with grilled chicken in a vodka sauce. I got the Orecchiette, which was homemade shell pasta with homemade sausage, rapini and chilis. The Pappardelle was really good l, but the Orecchiette was amazing. Deep flavors...it was delicious. Would highly recommend it! Ended splitting a banana cake with cream cheese frosting and drizzled with chocolate sauce. All around, everything was really good and we will definitely come back!!

We were staying in the hotel and wanted a quick bite to eat at around 930p( after a baseball game). We decided to try the hotel restaurant on a whim. They had a great bar (late night menu). We decided to try the BLT burger with Parmesan fries and a pizza. The food was delicious and very fresh.

Clearly a go to place for business lunches judging from all the suits - perhaps that speaks more to speedy service than good food. Had the soup of the day which was good -butternut squash soup. Also had the Papardelle which was a little tasteless and overcooked. The added chicken was delicious. A little disappointing for the cost. Portions were good. Service was diligent.

We ate here two mornings while staying at the hotel. Their breakfast was awesome. We had the omelet one morning. It came with potatoes and greens. Another morning we did eggs, bacon, again it came with potatoes and greens. Coffee was great and the english muffin so tastey. Wished we could have had dinner here but it didn't work out.

The service and atmosphere was really lovely. The chef really impressed me by allowing me to order off the menu as I was craving a Chicken Milanese with Fettuccine Alfredo. The pasta was fresh and homemade. The Chicken and marinara sauce was incredible. I wanted to take some home with me. It was really good. The restaurant is large and very clean. I loved our table it was very comfortable. I would definitely recommend. The service is top notch!!

The food was and wine were both really lovely - pasta cooked to perfection with tasty imaginative sauce - accompanying bread a little dry but free ! The service was distinctly average , we arrived with no reservation quite late in the evening (2115) but were greeted by a friendly and engaging hostess. However, once seated the menu was by QR code only and the server was disinterested and a little surly. Pasta served no pepper etc offered and had to be asked for. As we were having our meal they started to clear down and sweep the restaurant floor around us - did not add to the atmosphere ! Nice surroundings, good food but poor atmosphere caused by indifferent servers.

Really nice restaurant in the JW Marriott hotel. Been there 4-5 times and generally very good food. Down to earth kind of a place. Excellent bar with great food service there. Very good eggs for breakfast.

We reached 30 minutes earlier at 1130am. Surprised to see a few tables already occupied The service was impeccable- courteous and non-intrusive while helpful at all times The food itself was above average and the portions were huge And by the time we left at 1230the place was packed to the gills. Looks a popular lunch destination and it deserves the crowd it attracts, almost entirely business and professionals.

I was staying at the JW Marriott Hotel for a business meeting and decided to try the restaurant that was on site. The wait staff and food are excellent. I had the calamari appetizer and mushroom pizza with the egg in the middle. I really enjoyed my meal and the pizza is baked in a brick oven. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone staying at the hotel. You will not be disappointed!

I started my most recent visit to Chicago with a breakfast meeting at The Florentine located within the JW Marriott. As with my last few visits this was a great start to the tip, this time I had the egg white omelet with crab which was exceptional. service was attentive, atmosphere conducive to discussion. I reccomend.

This week was in need of a very nice restaurant nearby to host a farewell luncheon for a colleague leaving our company. Kiddingly we called it the last supper and I am very pleased we picked The Florentine. Very nice vibe in the well appointed room and the food/service were excellent. Great selection of fine food and all attending thought their choices were superb. Well done and count on me coming back.

Many restaurants near the Loop were full or not open on Sunday so we settled for The Florentine. It was a three minute walk and the restaurant was empty. No reservations were needed for our party. The host was friendly. The watermelon salad was cool and delicious which was a very nice surprise. I ordered the rigatoni with sausage and veggies. It was a good and filling dish but nothing special. A friend order the crab raviolis and that was better than mine. The kids had roasted chicken which looked more like grilled chicken. It was extremely dry and slightly burnt. Not very good. Waiter was kind and professional. Overall, there are so many better places in Chicago so I wouldn't eat here unless for the convenience.

I visited the Florentine on Wednesday. The first thing that I noticed was that the restaurant had a spacious feel. This is one of the few restaurants that do not crowd the tables together. You can comfortably have a private conversation at your table. They started us out with their bread selection, bread sticks, and olive oil. We were greeted with specialty cocktails when we were seated. They have an extensive, unique, and creative cocktail list loaded with fun drinks to try. We sampled six different drinks and were not disappointed. Chef Zachery Walrath prepared four different Antipasti dishes for us to sample. I decided that I could not choose a favorite… they were all outstandingly delicious. I sampled the Pan Seared Scallops (Capesante), the Shave Brussels Sprouts (Insalata Autunno), the Cream Filled Mozzarella (Buratta), and the Zuppa (Roasted Butternut Squash Soup). Immediately following the Antipastas, Chef Walrath presented three Pasta dishes that were unique creations that exceeded expectations. I must admit that I fell in love with the Fusili Oxtail Ragu. I will definitely be ordering this in the future. The Gnocchi Butternut Squash and Ravioli Roasted Pumpkin were very compelling. The main courses were spectacular. Chef Walrath presented three very different dishes. The first was the Pollo Boneless Cornish Hen Milanese. This is an artistic upgrade to the traditional chicken parmesan. The second dish was the Bistecca Pan Roasted NY Strip with mushrooms. This NY Strip rivals some of the best steakhouses in Chicago. And finally, the Vitello Veal Chop Saltimbocca was perfect. I am absolutely certain that you will be impressed with any of these three. In closing, the Florentine is a great restaurant with a wonderful menu in a terrific location. They should be on your must-try list!

Enjoyed an excellent whisky menu and steak. Was able to converse with five other persons in my party with overly loud background noise.

I wish to express my gratitude to all the staff of The Florentine. I spent 2 weeks in JW Marriott and it was my choice of place for breakfast but also lunch and some diners. Staff is professional and you feel unic each time you come. However, breakfast service is from my point of view is more "client-orientated". The menu is delicious. I reccommend especially the squash soup. Pizzas are delicious too. For breakfast my choice was greek yahourt with berries and honey. So delicious ! Thanks again for this place ! I reccommend it definately !

Awful food totally overpriced. Do not believe the high ratings. There are a lot better places to date. Paid 200.00 for 2 people for awful food

My wife and I went for a nice dinner during a long weekend trip to Chicago and were staying at the JW Marriott, where the restaurant is located (on the 2nd floor). We were able to make a reservation the day of our dinner and were quickly seated a few minutes before our actual reservation. Our waitress was absolutely incredible, offering suggestions (when we asked for them) from the menu and wine list. We started with the burrata which was excellent and both ordered a salad as well. Both salads were very large and excellent (we had the caesar and cavolo salads). For the main course, my wife had the risotto which was very tasty, and I had the linguini. My linguini was great with plenty of seafood (the clams were EXCELLENT!). We chose to have the Italian cookie dessert, which was a very nice assortment of delicious cookies to finish off our meal, along with a good cup of coffee. Finally, I will have to compliment our waitress (we wish we could remember her name!). We are more familiar with French wines, and the Florentine stocks a large assortment of Italian and domestic wines (understandable given their fare), and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the wine list, asking us what types of French wine we enjoy and various questions about things like tannins, earthiness, and color to make a suggestion. Her suggestion was wonderful and right on point for our preferences. All in all, a great evening in a great setting!

Manager above and beyond: my college age daughter had dinner at the Florentine. Her shoes broke and the manager gave her a pair of Birkenstocks as she felt bad for her. She also said that the food and service we very good as well.

Remember when you were discouraged from eating in hotel restaurants? How times have changed. The Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton in Chicago was a five-star venue in every way. So was the Four Seasons. Now I don't hesitate to eat in a hotel restaurant. How about the Florentine at the JW Marriott in Chicago's bustling financial district? Located at 151 West Adams Street, it is a sleek Italian restaurant that was selected as the best new Italian restaurant in the city in 2011 by one critic and the best restaurant in the city in 2011 by another critic. Chef Zachary Walrath, a native of Rock Falls, Illinois, who came to Chicago in 2006 and has worked at the Florentine for the last five years, has put together a menu of antipasti, pasta, seafood, steak, chops and desserts that should satisfy any weary traveler. For starters, we chose scallops and Caesar salad. I wanted to start light because I knew what was coming. Branzino. As an advocate of the more fish/less meat diet, I have grown to love Branzino, a Mediterranean sea bass that caught my eye a couple of years ago while vacationing in Florida. Since then, it has become a frequent item on many menus. My wife opted for Faroe Island salmon over pan roasted trout. Pasta lovers will enjoy linguini, gnocchi, risotto and cavatelli. Desserts are a treat, too. We settled on pumpkin cheesecake and apple pie. But the house-made gelato and sorbet, panna cotta, panettone bread pudding, tiramisu and frozen coconut mousse were tempting. I guess hotel owners finally figured out they were losing money by watching overnight guests walk out the door to go to dinner at a nearby restaurant and decided to give them a first-class reason to stay home.

It's on the second floor of the JW Marriott but is worth climbing the stairs for. I had an incredible meal, lots of food, even when they did half portions. Great, knowledgeable staff with really top notch recommendations.

Had lunch here last week and the food and service were excellent. I appreciate a place that values your time and the food came quickly. Our starters included the Burrata and roasted butternut squash Zuppa and mains of the short rib and gnocchi. All were delicious and well prepared. Highly recommended.

We booked a stay at the JW Marriott to celebrate our anniversary. The first night we had plans to see Hamilton and decided to keep it easy with dinner at the Florentine at our hotel. We had a 530 reservation for the 730 show and this gave us plenty of time for dinner before making the 10 minute walk to the theatre. We were very pleased with our overall experience here! They started us out with complimentary champagne for our anniversary. Our pasta dishes were all great. We learned you could split 2 different dishes which was nice to be able to try a couple things. Service was great and food was up to par for an upscale Italian venue like this. Makes a great pre Hamilton dinner and no reason not to go here if u are staying at the JW!

We ate here for breakfast before checking out on Sunday morning. We both ordered an omelette. I asked for fruit instead of the toast and potatoes it came with (since I don't eat many carbs) and they did, but said we'd be charged an "up-charge" (which is funny since a bowl of fruit is probably cheaper than the toast and potatoes) for swapping. We both enjoyed our breakfast. The service was a bit slow as it seemed our waitress was taking care of the entire large section of the back of the restaurant and she did appear a bit flustered or overwhelmed at times. I also noticed that as she was walking someone their orange juice she coughed right over it, which was gross. The food was rather pricey, but tasty. The restaurant is comfortable and the ambiance is inviting.

Was staying at the JW Marriott and figured I might as well eat there. Great menu, I just had a pizza and salad, both were very good. Staff was quick to ask f anything was needed.

So I have eaten here a dozen or so times in the last two years as I stay at the JW Marriot often but tonight I noted the prices were higher than I recalled. When I went to order the bronzino that I had before (and that was a $40 entree) I asked if I could get a little pasta instead of the potatoes. After 5 minutes he came back and told me it would be $9 extra for the add on. I told him I was asking for a side not a first dish. He said he understood. I thought that was outrageous and paid for my drink and left. I am not even the one paying for the meal, and I am not shy to city prices as I was ordering a 40 dollar fish, but I just thought it ludicrous for them to ask that. There is a great sushi and fish place at the W hotel across the street and their salmon was excellent for $30. They are now my new go to when at the hotel. On another note the restaurant was not busy so perhaps others figured this out already.

Breakfast food we ordered was almond brioche french toast and the avocado toast. Wonderful. As a treat we shared the homemade doughnuts. I recommend you do the same :) Lunch we ordered the Argula and Tuscan Kale salads and they came with bread which was more than enough to hold us for the day. Dinner, Osso Bucco and one of the seasonal pastas. The pasta that we ordered was not liked and the Florentine removed it from the bill. A pizza was ordered it it's place and it was very tasty. Although in a hotel, service and food were top notch and the restaurant acoustics allowed for conversation at the table.

This was my second visit to this establishment and both were quite enjoyable. The staff is amazing: professional, friendly and welcoming. I was undecided between two salads and received a split (which was not on the menu). Both salads were delicious and I’m glad we had the opportunity to share these greens (I love white anchovies). The entrees! The Chef graciously visited our table. The Chicano food scene is quite varied. One can explore multiple cuisines. I’ll continue to patronize The Florentine.

Good food and staff, would not have the lobster stuffed pepper, would go for the lamb lollipops Clean and comfortable.

One of the worse restaurants i've been. We came early 5:30 pm before the concert at CSO. The bread was served first, nor eatable, not fresh, just taken from the refrigerator and smelt like other fridge products. The appetizers and entry were served at the same time. I asked "why" and the answer was "because the other table ordered the same dish, we cooked for you too". The salmon was overdone, dry, and the whole plate was cold. Looks like it was cooked in the morning and reheated a little bit and served. Extremely disappointing experience in the center of Chicago. Wouls never recommend

We ordered several appetizers (the pizza was awesome). I also had the potato leek soup. Yes, potato leek. It is served table side, with 4-6 small perfectly cooked cubes of spiced potato, and the leek is poured over it. Impressive, and very tasty. Overall, all the items were cooked excellently. I ordered the lamb and it turned out a little rarer than I usually have but was still very tender and good. Presentation were excellent as were a very attentive and courteous wait staff.

This is a soulless hotel restaurant. If I'm being honest, eating at Outback (both food and service) would have been better. The bus boy provided better service than Conor, the waiter. The waiter was disheveled, inattentive, didn't proactively make recommendations or attempt to upsell, and was just below the fine or upscale dining standard you expect. Given the restaurant's location in an upscale hotel, a good waiter could make out like a bandit here with tips. If Conor had been halfway good at his job I would have ordered a bottle of wine and made a night out of it. After all, a good wine can make some other issues seem like no big deal. My first course (seared scallops) was good, although the seasoning overpowered the flavor of the scallops. If the scallops are quality you don't need to cover them in a blend of spices and seasoning. My second/main course was the salmon. The waiter said the chef prepares it medium rare. It came out raw, outside of some searing on the outside. Completely inedible. Who wants to eat cold barely cooked salmon? When I can cook better salmon at home, there's a problem with the kitchen. More troubling: the restaurant is not sanitary. I saw staff brush off the placemats and reuse the placemats between guests. That's disgusting. This is the same surface silverware goes on and it's also the same surface water glasses are placed top down. It's funny because the restaurant doesn't have menus because of supposed COVID concerns (customers use a QR code that doesn't really work) but they don't replace placemats. Here's an idea: get tablecloths and changed them in and out between customers. Normally, BLT's restaurants are on the better side of things but not here. Obviously, this is the reason why the hotel recommends its lobby bar and in-room dining to guests. Avoid. Eat in the hotel lobby or find an Outback.

The food is very good and the service is excellent. I would stay away from the watermelon salad since it's really just two hunks of watermelon with some fruit on top. Everything else I've had there is great! It's very noisy at lunchtime so if you need to have a serious business conversation, it's not really possible.

Very nice restaurant! I usually stay away from the hotel restaurants, but Florentine is an exception. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. I had the sea bass, they showed me the whole fish and de-boned for me. It was the freshest! I enjoyed their bread as well. Overall excellent meal, price reasonable for this high end hotel.

This is a overages and expensive place. We were talked into the fixed menu. The salad was fine. The entree was two very small - really small and very dry - very dry pieces of trout. The dish could not pass for small bite and served with nothing. They offered one choice for desert which we did want - absolutely no substitutions A truly terrible meal

Took some colleagues here for lunch. I had the peach pizza because it was intriguing. I was disappointed. It lacked flavor. It could have used a little spicing up. My colleague had the squid ink pasta. A bit odd. It had a strong seafood flavor. The texture was a bit odd also. Another colleague had a hamburger and it actually looked good. The ambiance is good. Perhaps other menu items are good. Beware if you have an Arnold Palmer they charge $1 for refills. They don't tell you that either. Free refills in regular ice tea.

We enjoyed an amazing Sunday breakfast. The donuts made from ricotta were phenomenal. I loved the Pecorino Scramble. The service was the best!!!! Will return.

I have been to this restaurant many times, for lunch and for dinner. For a business lunch, it is good food, middle to high prices, nice waitstaff, but rather noisy. It is in the J.W. Marriott so it is a convenient place for the south financial district. I would recommend it.

Please note that Chicago is one of the biggest cities with the best restaurants in America…this is not the case. We went there for our pre-marathon pasta dinner since we needed to have pasta and some of my friends were staying there at the Marriott's. When we arrived I noticed at the entrance it had Michelin stars so I was delighted and expectant. The service was terrible and after complaining about our rude waiter and had been sitting there over an hour unattended, we finally got our dishes, which none was over the top. My kids meat balls were raw and and after a no alcohol (we were running the next day) and no dessert and half orders of pasta and few entrees, we all in the table agreed it was not worth that bill!! All 8 in our party were not surprised with this meal…on the contrary,; it was pretty mediocre instead. I made up my mind it only survives because the hotel guests keeps them in business, otherwise it has nothing to do in Chicago. Seriously, for one third of the price you can walk down to Giordano's and have a much better Italian Chicago meal!

Our only experience was with breakfast, for which they have a varied menu with lots of great choices. The cost can be considered pricey, but then again, so is the hotel (JW Marriott) in which it is located. So what else would you expect. If we get a chance to stay in the JW Marriott again we will definitely plan a dinner visit.

The wait staff was great, attentive and professional. The food was disappointing... beginning with the bread. The focaccia was dense and tasted like ordinary wheat bread, the dinner sized caesar salad for $14.00 was small, croutons lacked flavor. I had FettuccineVerdi. The pasta was heavy and gritty. The speck was thick and leathery. My Friend had the Gemelli. The rock shrimp was very fishy and completely over took any other flavors. The atmosphere was nice, but the food left much to be desired.

This place is a hidden gem, located on the 2nd floor of the JW Marriott, most people get lost in the lobby bar, which is fine as well. Florentine carries with it a special aura, with customized attention to each customer, a staff that is as attentive to your specific tastes and needs, and an ambiance that is conversation friendly without being obnoxious. Alexandra, the manager, is key to greeting as many customers as possible with a vibrant smile and a sharp knowledge of wines (she's a sommelier) and bartenders Greg and Julio are on top of all your mixology needs. Hit this place up!

My boyfriend and I went here for a fancy date night on a Friday around 5 ish- we were seated right away and had great service. The food looked delicious & tasted even better. 11/10 recommend!!

I have stopped by the Florentine many times for a bottle of wine at the end of the day with colleagues. Alex is the Sommelier and manager at the restaurant within the JW Marriott. She is always looking for eclectic type wines, is thoroughly knowledgeable and helpful with the wine list. A great add-on to this venue is that you get a fantastic wood fire pizza for free after 4pm. And the toppings are creative and distinct.

Good place for gathering, lot of tables. Wide selection of wine. Food is acceptable but the service is good...... Pizza and my pasta is delicious.

Top notch food, good wine list (expensive). A good business dinner choice. Our German guest was hoping we would pick a steak place, but had a very nice steak.

I came here for a work lunch, and the service was fantastic. I drink a lot of water, but my cup was somehow never empty as they kept a close eye on it the entire time. For my meal, I had the orecchiette. The sauce was very full flavored with just the right amount of spice. I would definitely order it again.

My husband and I visited this restaurant today, tomorrow we are participating in a marathon, so we ordered Pasta: Langostine, shrimp, tomato, brandy cream, which turned out to be the worst in our life!!! For some reason, the penne was fragmented and buried in a huge amount of fatty and highly salty sauce. Pre-marathon dinner ruined. We chose this restaurant because of the high rating, which is clearly overvalued. This food has nothing to do with Italian cuisine. The tips were already included in the bill, without our consent.

This must be the lunch place in the area for business meeting as the line was about 20 deep at noon. Great looking space, which I found out from my lunch guest, used to be the trading floor of a local bank. We were seated quickly and the servers were very attentive for both taking orders and refilling drinks. The fresh mozzarella in a pool of pesto and toasted bread was excellent. The calamari was grilled placed over bean salad and greens so not your traditional prep. Two of my colleagues had the mushroom and black pepper pasta and they loved it. I unfortunately though the margarita pizza was a safe bet after seeing the pizza oven behind me. It was typical cheese pizza with way too much cheese (never thought I would ever say too much cheese about anything) and a soggy crust. A Margarita should have a good deal of sauce, a fair portion of mozzarella and ample basil. This one, not so much. It was luke warm and the over loaded cheese topping lead to the sogginess. They had some good-looking stuff on the menu so if I return I will opt for the pastas and avoid the pizza.

Had dinner here. Restaurant wasn't crowded, and it's a bit hard to find in the hotel. Gnocchi was great, as was the burrata. Dessert (fresh donuts) was a tad undercooked, but otherwise quite tasty. This is a splurge, but worth it.

This was billed as an Italian restaurant. It felt like a noisy bar. The staff interrupted us every few minutes. We felt rushed to leave, even though there were empty tables and no one waiting. The food was very salty and while we both ordered the same filet medium rare, one came close to medium and the other barely rare.

great food, great service, great drinks....it wasn't that crowded surprisingly. we had seeral different apps, fish as an entree, desserts. overall great experience. also loved the ambiance

The service was fantastic, the food awesome, and honestly if it wasn’t a little pricey I’d give it 5 stars. However, it’s on a 5 star hotel so I should expect s similarly classed restaurant.

We had an anniversary dinner here and enjoyed it very much. The decor is impressive and the staff attentive in their service. Jelena was our wait person and was informative and pleasant throughout the visit. She was very helpful with wine choices. We had starters and pasta mains and enjoyed the Tuscan vibe. Overall, a good choice and experience.

We scheduled a business dinner at The Florentine, and wow, what a meal. The service was top-notch, and the food was amazing. The dishes were very flavorful, with large portions. We had a great time.

When I travel, breakfast is an important item. I didn't stay in the Marriott. Went here just for breakfast. I am a good cook. A foodie. I had the picorino scramble. The best scrambled eggs I have ever had. Seriously. I will come here again just to have these. Coffee was good but not great. But what eggs!

Antipasto was fine but ran out of 2 of 6 entrees? My salmon was not tasty. Nice pleasant environment. Very fine service

Ordered an omelette and a bowl of fresh berries when staying here for a two-day trip in November. The berries were fresh and sweet - surprisingly so for a day at the beginning of November - and the omelette came with fresh greens and amazing sea-salt encrusted potatoes...all that and whole wheat toast and coffee made it an amazing breakfast overall! Held me through almost until supper. The staff was really friendly, too - so nice to be greeted warmly at 6:30 in the morning and to have fresh coffee and ice water keep appearing before you even knew you needed it...

It was 8 degrees outside so the Tuscan barley soup, dark wood floors and bright smiles all brought welcome warmth. We met at 1:00 and it was bustling with the business lunch crowd and a little loud for my taste. The host seemed a bit flumoxed by all the activity but within a few minutes we were seated and from then on, we had a pleasant time. The servers were attentive, enthusiastic and knolweldgeable. The food was tasty and well prepared. The King Salmon was flavorful and well presented and the chef took seriously our request that it be seared and very rare. All in all, a nice mid week lunch.

Breakfast was excellent and convenient for those staying in the adjacent JW Marriott hotel. You need to tell your server that you're staying in the hotel (they don't ask) to be able to charge the meal to the hotel bill and qualify for a discount.

We wanted to have a late and relaxing breakfast before heading out for the Miracle Mile experience and we found The Florentine on the 2nd floor of the JW Marriott. Helena took good care of us and had a rich lot of hot coffee delivered to our table along with ice water and lemon wedges. We were pleasantly surprised with the inviting atmosphere and good service. The Florentine Benedict was very good. The poach eggs were perfect, the spinach prepared just right, all topped with a wonderful Hollandaise served atop crunchy English muffins. The plate was also adorned with a nice field greens mix and a subtle vinaigrette. I also had a side of applewood smoke bacon. It was okay, but certainly not Nueske’s. We may try dinner here while in town.

Lovely atmosphere and decor. We sat in a corner of the bar in a booth, which was quieter on a weeknight than it would be on a weekend, and quieter than the main part of the restaurant. The squash soup was excellent, creamy and complex. The pennone pasta was quite good, with fine mushrooms and truffle oil. The cauliflower side dish was bland and rather like kraft dinner, with too much and too thick a cream sauce. The wine selection is very good. Dessert featured home made gelato and sorbet. Fantastic dessert! Waitstaff was attentive.

We dined at The Florentine while staying at the JW Marriott Chicago. Located on the second floor of the hotel, the Florentine is separate from the hotel. They have a very expansive wine collection and large bar area as you enter the space. Seating wraps around to the left and the big windows look out onto LaSalle street. They also offer a private dining room in the back which can be reserved for one large group (over 30) or split into two smaller rooms. Italian photos decorate the walls and the furniture is dark. We dined here on Sunday morning for breakfast. It was actually the day of the Chicago Marathon and you could watch the runners go by. In preparation for the runners, they also offered a pasta buffet the night before. The breakfast menu offers traditional items such as omelettes, eggs, and fresh fruit. If you are a guest at the hotel, you also get 15% off your bill. I have to say, breakfast was good, yet dinner was the highlight. The dinner menu offers many Italian classics. We had the fish of the day prepared with vegetables and a delicious watermelon and arugula salad. We also dined on a Sunday night and all bottles of wine were half price. I also highly recommend the dessert gelato and mini donuts. The donuts reminded me of fritelle that are served in Venice durring carnevale and were the perfect finish with blueberry compote. Our waiter Hugo took great care of us and we had a very memorable meal.

Delicious food, and fantastic service. We were there at 11 AM on a Sunday, and the brunch menu is in effect. There are a few lunch items (including a burger), but the majority of items are breakfast oriented. The quality of food is really great. The atmosphere is casual, but the service is what you'd expect for fine dining. The Florentine is on the 2nd floor in the Marriott hotel on Adams St. in the Loop.

First I want to say that I ask an Italian place to a friend in Chicago, he recommended the Florentine: a real gem. Service: one of my best experience for a long time, friendly, fast and excellent recommendations. For wine ask for Alexandria (Somm), she is the best! Wine: they have a Coravin wine by the glass list (I would say around 25 wines) a real treat we took 4 different wines during our diner, asking reco to Alexandria for each course - perfect. Food: we had the scallops and calamari as appetizer then the pasta and then Fileto and Brandzino, everything was so delicate and perfectly presented. Price: very good price versus quality Overall: I am coming back there at my next trip!

We had a nice relaxing breakfast. Service was slow, but we were not in a hurry, so this did not bother us much. Love the artwork and decor in this restaurant. I had the eggs florentine Benedict and husband had the omelet. They were well prepared. Enjoyed the big potatoes. Excellent green tea.

The restaurant is by the JW Marriott. Seems to be a good restaurant. I went for breakfast. It is a la carte only. I ordered French Toast. When they served the plate, the waiter said to try it before pouring syrup as it was already quite sweet. Boy was he right. The French toast was full of some type of cereal (seemed like cooked crispies) and cooked slices of apple with a lot of cooked sugar or something sweet. So I was not very happy I was not told when I ordered this is not standard French toast. Personally, I think they overdid it to make it look fancy.

We had breakfast here, they where horribly understaffed. Food was ok at best and it was expensive. The waiter was working as fast as he could.

This is a very good surprise in terms of Hotels restaurant. I had he opportunity to have breakfast, lunch and dinner in this restaurant and let me tell you each one was a very great experience. For me you can also consider that for the quality of food served the price is very reasonable. if you decide to have breakfast I have to tell you that the Pecorino Scramble was amazing. If lunch will be your call and you are craving for a sandwich give the Lamb Burger a try and I can guarantee you you will be more than pleased. But if dinner is going to be you moment, the burrata and the Risotto are awesome !!!

It's a lovely restaurant with excellent service and is located in a beautiful hotel. We stopped for a late night meal after flying into Chicago. The wine list was ok and it was about $12 a glass. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the risotto small plate. She got the half-order and it was more than enough. The scallop entree was scintillating, though the prosciutto was way too salty for us. The stone pie was topped with fig, cheese and prosciutto and it was good; it would have been better if not for the heavy salt in the pizza dough. This is a safe choice for fine dining in a pretty environment but just know that we found other fine dining choices in the Loop that were better than safe -- they were food forward, and/or mind-blowing.

Florentine is in the JW Marriott. I had breakfast there, and the setting was very nice and the food was good. I only gave it 3 stars, however, because the service, while friendly, was painfully slow.

My daughter and I braved the insane lines for the Willis Tower, and instead of following the crowds to Giordano's, we went to The Florentine at the JW Marriott hotel instead. It was perfect. Quiet, no wait, and the Italian Cobb salads we ordered were the best Cobb salads I've ever had, and I've had many. Two thumbs up for The Florentine!

If you are staying in the area, you should dine at the Florentine. Note that the menu pricing is higher than average. The food is worth the money spent. Portion sizes can be a bit large so make sure you bring your appetite.

I was there for Thanksgiving dinner and was disappointed with the food. The Thanksgiving menu included all the staples. It was nicely presented. Yet the taste and texture of the turkey and side dishes reminded me of Boston Market in the 90ies. I also tried pasta dishes - the sauce in both was over salted. The service was nice and friendly. I’d give 5 stars for service, but 1 star for food.

Had dinner at The Florentine the first night in town for the National Restaurant Show. Went expecting average food, but was pleasantly surprised to find a good upscale restaurant with chef inspired food.

I dined at The Florentine for lunch with 8 coworkers. We were seated in their private dining area and I'm glad that we were seated there - it had such a nice atmosphere and it was also more conducive for a conversation with our large group...so much quieter there. While we really enjoyed our meals, we were especially impressed with our waitress, Helena. She did an excellent job describing the drinks and the dishes; she was very enthusiastic in describing each item. Helena was also able to answer all of our questions. I've dined at the Florentine two other times. I'm glad that the food and service are still excellent.

This place was great. The food was amazing, bread basket was one of the best I've had and came with high quality EVOO, the wine was great (albeit a little pricey, but at least you get a good pour), and the service was on point. I stopped in after landing in town for a work trip. While it was relatively quiet when I was seated, the other tables did book up pretty quickly. I was pretty surprised that while I didn't complain about the Cesar salad I ordered (it was overloaded with dressing and had anchovy on top - some people may like, but it was a bit much for me), the waiter ended up checking in before he cleared it away and noticed I hadn't really touched most of it. They ended up taking it off my check (without my asking), and the manager (I think) came over a little while later and apologized. Above and beyond what most restaurants would do. They even send over some delicious desert at the end. I would definitely seek this restaurant out again, even if I wasn't staying nearby.

We returned to the hotel later than expected and were still desiring dinner. The staff directed us to the Florentine on the second floor. While we didn't have reservations, we were promptly seated and waited on be a very professional server. The food was wonderful, the service was fantastic, the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The entire meal greatly exceeded our expectations. We will definitely dine here in the future.

Had the gnocchi with ramps, pecorino, and onions. A tasty dish. Slow service in a loud room but good Italian fare.

Good Italian, quiet at start, packed by the end, comfortable and accommodating for our 2 kids. All the food was tasty and better than anticipated. Restaurants in hotels sometimes get a bad rep but The Florentine exceeded our expectations.

Shared a delicious Caesar salad to start....pasta dish was excellent but the risotto was best I have ever had. Served with kale and braised short ribs and it was melt in your mouth! Waiter was very attentive and friendly....would give it top marks!

This restaurant is conveniently located in the JW Marriot Hotel in Chicago. The atmosphere was inviting and the food was really good. Our service was excellent during the lunch rush.

The food was very good for a hotel. The service was great and the ambience was nice. The wine list was a surprise and then when we got 1/2 price bottles (April 15th Tax Day Promotion) it made it easy to oder a 2006 Cain Five to go with my filet.

A friend and work colleague of mine had suggested that he found a great restaurant l with one of the best steaks at his JW Marriott hotel, Florentine. I like to think of myself as somewhat of a foody and the idea of a hotel restaurant was not what I would want to waste time and money on in Chicago. However I checked Trip Adviser and it was reviewed, excellent. Sorry folks hate to break your mold this is NOT the Excellent restaurant at this price level. The service was pretty good but not exceptional for a $45 entree with everything a la carte. The waiter called it contemporary Italian and the recommended entree was Filetto grilled filet mignon, ricotta creamed kale, herb butter, barolo, .....Steak? Steak with Gorgonzola cheese and mushrooms sauce? I tried it. It was big and smothered. I ate half before the taste of the steak broke through and it was not great, my taste buds and hunger were spent. The delicious sounding Zuppa roasted butternut squash soup, smoked apples, pancetta, amaretti cream, truffle oil was unmemorable. Save your money. No offense but my usual verdict remains, hotels are good at running hotels not typically restaurants. They usually subsidize restaurants.

Staying at The JW in Chicago had a hankering so ordered the soup of the day from the on site restaurant. Mine was a root vegetable purée that was really good!! For my husband I ordered tiramisu as a treat. He says it was good. Both bites. The portion was SO small!!! Almost looked like a joke. The soup portion was generous. The tiramisu quite the opposite. Disappointing.

Had a business dinner here. The dinner had a limited menu due to number of people, but my chicken dish was excellent and the service was superb

The space is great. Beautiful bar. Menu is limited though. Not a basic dish on the menu. I had to ask to create an antipasto. Also had to ask for other pizza options as they only had 1 on menu with brussel sprouts. The food was good. Not great. Chicago has better options. Service was very good though.

This is a great spot to get in and out in an hour for a productive business lunch. Good food. Great service. Bustling atmosphere.

Three of us tried the Florentine for lunch. Walking in, the first impression was that it was a noisy place -- the background music was too loud, people were talking loudly to be heard above the music and there was lots of wood to bounce the sound around. Still, we had heard good things about the food and wanted to try it. We each had a different sandwich. Portion size was generous, but flavor-wise each was judged average. This despite the prices ($14-16 each). The real shock came when we found that the charge for a glass of Iced Tea was $4. How they could justify that price level for Iced Tea is beyond me. All in all, the consensus was that we'd "been there, done that, don't need to do it again."

This is a large spacious restaurant with outstanding decor, very comfortable. The service is outstanding, friendly and prompt. We were a group of about 40 people, and everything was delicious. The food was served Buffett style. I enjoyed everything piece of food. Well done.

We stayed at the JW this past weekend for our anniversary and had a beautiful dinner at The Florentine to start our stay. Jamie was our server and she was absolutely fantastic! She started off our evening with complimentary champagne, which was such a nice surprise. Jamie then helped us pick out a wonderful bottle of wine and was so friendly and warm to us during our entire meal. She really made us feel special on our anniversary. The Chef came out to bring us our entrees, which was also an impressive touch. We really enjoyed the veal meatball appetizer, the steaks we had for our entrees, and the twice baked potatoes side. To finish, we had the pumpkin cheesecake which was absolutely phenomenal and a great way to end our meal. Thank you to the staff at The Florentine for a memorable anniversary meal and to Jamie for the exceptional service!

Chicago has some amazing Italian restos, but if you want to sample some delicious wines, pizza and food make sure to venture here inside of the J.W. Marriott Hotel. Hotel food you say ...yes, I was shocked too while staying here for a wedding three years ago and have been back many times since. The wine list is fantastic, the pizza thin and devious like Italy and no one can have a bad time here once you relax and let the wave of pleasure wash over you.

Hidden on the second floor of the JW Marriot on Adams, The Florentine proved to be much more than an average hotel restaurant. The dining room is beautiful and inviting with views of the busy city. The service was wonderful and the food was amazing. My daughter and I started with the asparagus fritti served on a delicious bed of tomato sauce and topped with a fried egg. I enjoyed the Bucatini Carbonara and my daughter the risotto. It was a lovely lunch and we hope to visit again some day.

Good reviews online and walking distance. Cannot complain. Good wines by the glass but served as a quartino which is a small pitcher. Much more than usual pour and more than I could finish! Great Nero! I started with their tomato soup. Didn't know tomatoes could be so red! I followed with the lamb sagu. Basically a meat sauce done with pork in the roman style but varies by area. Chunks and not a ragu or bolognaise. Pasta was basically cut up squares of lasagna noodles but cooked al dente. I ordered a half which was not unusual per the waitress but not listed. She advised me that that would be plenty and did not need order a main course plate. Still the bronzino did sound good and next time I may bring a friend to split it all. The half pasta was a full plate and the regular size would feed a whole family by what she described. I opted for a semifredo and was good as well. Wish they had smaller sized plates perhaps as a pre fis or tasting to have the ante pasta. Pasta and then a primo n secundo dishes.

The service from the greeting to the farewell was courteous, attentive and professional. The food (Eggs Florentine in particular) was well delivered if overly supportive of Idaho's economy. Ambience is business appropriate and you can hear yourself think.

Been here several times for business lunch meetings. Usually I get an overpriced salad, but I chose to mix things up a bit and went for the Salmon Burger. It was really good. The salmon was most and the bun was fresh and soft. Came with seasoned fries that were pretty good as well. Nice luncheon option to salad without killing a cheat day.

I can only rate this restaurant as very good because nothing we ordered was just exceptional. We enjoyed the bread served with seasoned olive oil. The Caesar salad was generous, but not very flavorful. The seafood pasta was very good, with good flavor, but again...not anything to rave about. The seafood was fresh and abundant with good flavor. An example of Exceptional would be my wanting to return for the dish again....and I wasn't wowed. We also had the sautéed mushrooms which were large and firm, but the flavor was a bit too acidic for our taste. Our waiter had described the dish accurately on the acidic side and he really liked the dish, but we found it wasn't our favorite. Our waiter was very friendly, originally from Cuenca, Ecuador where I had visited years ago. He had a great personality and very attentive. Overall, We had a great experience and plan to eat breakfast there at some point. The atmosphere was very relaxing, with big screen Tvs tuned to the playoffs and hockey. The decor had a very homey but upscale look. It was a great place to end our day.

A group of us attending a conference at this hotel came here for dinner. We all enjoyed our meals; the food was delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. Our server was friendly, but service was very slow. Also, although there is a card in every room advertising a 15% discount at this restaurant upon showing one's room key, to obtain this is quite difficult. The server was very flustered, and the hotel makes the strange requirement that the charge MUST go on the room bill. If you want folks to eat at your restaurant, why make this so hard?

Great location, great service, great food. Do I really have to say more. I will be back the next time in Chicago. Oxtail is awesome.

We enjoyed a lovely dinner with exceptional food and service. We also had brunch there and enjoyed lox and bagels.

The Florentine is located within the JW Marriott. It is a bit expensive, like many hotel restaurants, but the food is good. It is strongest at breakfast and good for lunch. I thought my dinner was fine, but only that. Service at dinner was friendly, but slow.

This restaurant was noisy, the waiters were scattered, the food was disappointing. It's located in a Marriott hotel but seems to have a problem accommodating the large crowds they must get frequently.

Stood at the host desk for 12 minutes, waiting for somebody to give me a table !! Restaurant was almost empty. Followed my 12 min rule and walked out when no one bothered to ask what the hell I was doing there or did I want to eat !!

this was in the hotel we were staying in, the JWMarriott. it's not affiliated with the Marriott. Great service and very good food.

We came to this restaurant since we were staying within the JW Marriott and do not regret it. The treatment that you receive as you come through the door is quite amazing and servers are more than accommodating to meet your needs. Our server assisted me in making sure than we finished our meals no later than a certain time in order to be on time for Hamilton. The ambiance is romantic and quiet. I would recommend it

Well i love this place! The restaurant is very Upscale, the food its great! I strongly suggest that you start from appetizers and the home made pasta the best! Don't forget to grab desert i usually never do dessert but my wife was in the mood for one and we loved it! It was some passion fruit with frozen dessert and caramel delicious ! Thank You very much GM Amanda! You have a lovely place here!

We were in town for a long weekend and stayed at the JW Marriott. This 2nd floor restaurant would normally be a little out of my price range for dinner, but they have a great happy hour! Buy a beer or cocktail and get a woodfired pizza Free! Good beer selection, handmade cocktails with fresh ingredients and good pizza. We were actually too full for dinner after splitting the pizza! We sat at the bar and found the bartenders to be friendly and knowledgeable. I think this is the best happy hour deal in Chicago! The bar/restaurant is beautiful and it is clear that the whole staff takes pride in their work. We will be back next time.

Great bar and very good food. A little over priced. Service was excellent and staff very accommodating.

I made a reservation for my family and they were very accommodating. The hostess was great. The food was fine, but the waiter was not nice or attentive at all. And it wasn't crowded! It soured the experience.

I think the service can be better. The manager needs to train the servers on their menu. When I asked the server about their desserts after a wonderful meal, the server just went and got the dessert menu. If a restaurant is charging top dollar for food, I would expect the waitstaff to be educated on the menu, specially a dessert menu, which is usually small. Also, I think a server should wear long sleeve shirts, if they have extensive tattoos on their arms. I want to maintain a good appetite and respect others way of life. But, when serving food, it is unappetizing. The food was great though, their Italian Meatball appetizer hit the spot. The pasta dish my friend ordered was liked by her. The wine selection had some good Rose's. Everything else was fine here. The decor was classy with a library feel, they had book shelves around with actual books. This restaurant is located in the JW Marriott and easy to get to from the metro and next door to the Sears tower.

My husband and I were able to each find one dish that did not contain things we do not like, but that pretty much exhausted the menu for us. We found the food to be ok overall, but not worth the high pricetag.

We are a family of 4 and were staying at the hotel. We came here for dinner and had a great meal. The service was great, the food was delicious, even my kids enjoyed it. We would definitely eat here again.

I highly recommend this great restaurant in the JW Marriott. My husband and I ate here one evening when we were staying at the hotel. We had reservations booked elsewhere but were too tired to go out that night and stayed and ate at the Florentine. The food was just fantastic and our service exceptional.

This restaurant is located on the 2nd floor inside of the JW Marriott. As a hotel guest, I went for lunch in a Wednesday around 12:30 and was surprised at the size and population of the venue. There were no tables available and a few seats at the bar. The place was bustling with a large lunch crowd. Reservations are recommended. I ordered the trout, which was absolutely spectacular! I came back for dinner and ordered the steak and lobster. Dinner was not as busy. The steak was okay and the lobster was actually in small chunks on top of the steak. The trout was definitely the better tasting entree.

This swanky, romantic restaurant is in the JW Marriott in Chicago and is a good choice for elevated dining. Instead of two entrees, my wife and I mixed it up. We shared two appetizers: the Burrata ($19), Steamed Mussels ($18) and one entrée: the Tortoloni Tartufo ($26). The Burrata was very good and the home made sun dried tomatoes that came with it were so good (light, not overpowering) that we asked how they made it. The Steamed Mussels were just a 7 out of 10 because the saffron was a bit strong, and we prefer mussels in straightforward garlic/wine/butter anyway. Six large Tortolonis were stuffed with truffles, pancetta, Portobello in sage brown butter – and they were very good, too. We were happy and recommend The Florentine overall. We had two drinks each and before tip the total including tax was $128.51. The server was excellent.

We went for Christmas dinner thinking it was going to be momentous. It was just average. Bread served was fresh and the rosemary Parmesan was nice. The appetizer of charred octopus while very distinctly flavorful, had more potato slices and only a few bites of the star ingredient. We then shared a pasta dish as they advertise made in-house. That was pretty good but came to the table cold and no one came to offer grated cheese for the top. I did see another table later that was offered grated cheese for their pasta. The prime rib on the other hand was a very generous portion of 2 thick slices atop mashed potatoes but the meat was not of top grade and again cold! We both had to wrestle with the meat as it was not easy to cut even with the steak knife provided. Another table sent their plate of prime rib back. Food delivery timing was way off. Small touches forgotten and a meal non-memorable. We skipped desert and had it elsewhere. Wouldn’t recommend.

We had a runner for the Chicago marathon, so we looked for an Italian restaurant where there were lots of pasta choices. I ordered a chicken rigatoni dish that looked suspiciously like a frozen meal offered by weight watchers. The Parmesan sauce was watery and tasteless. My partner ordered lasagna, which was very dry and crunchy around the outside. The runner in our group ordered spaghetti...the portion was maybe 1 -1/2 cups worth of pasta..not enough to carb load. We asked for more bread and they did try to accommodate as best they could. Disappointed overall, as the location was beautiful- I expected a better experience. I gave this 3 stars mainly as our waiter was amazing and did his best to compensate. He was awesome!

Omelette with variety of toppings, toast and fresh greens. Friendly and courteous. JW Marriott guests receive a 15% discount.

While staying at the J.W. Marriott I had only breakfast, twice here but both times it was fun to have breakfast in such a vibrant setting (like a library met a modern art gallary) and to have such excellent food with an Italian accent at breakfast---not your usual fare, but bacon and eggs, for example ARE available. I understand it's a favorite for lunch and that the chef has a fine reputation. It's strange that it's hidden in a large hotel, but it's worth the visit.

I was a guest of a colleague for lunch and had a great time. While not typically in the south loop for lunch, this has to be on your radar. Very welcoming staff from the hostess, coat check, waiter And bus boy. We all dined on fantastic ceaser salad's, some plain and others garnished with chicken, that was accompanied by home made grain bread. Lunch was good and noise levels were muted enough to be able to carry on a business conversation without screaming. I now know why this place is so popular and often crowded.

Met a work colleague for breakfast and had some ups and downs. Chicken sausage was dry, but the breakfast potatoes are fantastic. My colleague had the quiche and enjoyed it. The waitress was super chatty and kept interrupting us with stories about herself. It made for a long meal.

The service from Kirby, the bartender, Stephen, his helper and Amanda, the manager was impeccable. They all anticipated needs. were prompt and gracious as well as welcoming to the establishment. A delightful experience! The food was average but the service and attention from the staff more than made up for the food. I would dine there at any returns to Chicago.

Our party of 4 dined here before seeing "Hamilton". It's a quick walk to the theatre and one of the reasons we chose this restaurant. We loved many of our dishes: scallops appetizer, butternut squash soup, kale-sprouts salad. Also, our server made one of the best Negroni cocktails! I deducted 1 star for the poorly butchered steak, lots of gristle. They compensated by bringing several complimentary desserts but I don't like sweets so not much of a compensation.

This restaurant is in the JW Marriott on West Adams Street in Chicago. We just had the most delicious dinner this evening. The pasta is fresh and light and delicious! Our waitress, Jamie Lee, made the evening for us. She really took care of us and was very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. We found the customer service to be exceptional and will definitely be coming back on our next visit to Chicago.

My husband and I enjoyed breakfast here. While we typically don't venture outside of the Marriott Executive Lounge provided breakfast, we made the exception this trip. We were so glad we did. The restaurant served typical breakfast entrees with a twist. The food was excellent. The staff was attentive and helpful without being overbearing. We will certainly be back! Interesting to note: this restaurant has a beautiful bar. We will be sure to take advantage of their cocktail hour and free pizza the next time we are in town!

Tucked inside on the second floor the JW Marriott hotel is this fine Italian restaurant. We opted for this restaurant for the convenience since we were staying in the hotel, and our expectations were greatly exceeded. All of us enjoyed our meals ( I had the pork chop, others had the truffle pasta, and the risotto with short rib.), the service was excellent, and the cool vibe was a great retreat from the busy street scene downstairs. You'll love it.

Had a really wonderful business dinner. Delicious food and great service. Very comfortable dining room.

While staying at the hotel we visited the place twice, once for an event and the second time for lunch. Solid food with great service.

Had breakfast a few times. The omelette was good and pancakes decent too. I think it will be lively at night given it has a bar

The restaurant is situated on the second floor of JW Marriott Hotel Chicago. The atmosphere is amazing. I really loved the decor. Felt fresh and stylish, just like the food itself. The pasta is deliciously prepared and the dishes come in really large portions. It's a little pricey considering it's an upscale hotel restaurant but it's a very tranquil spot to take a lunch/dinner break from the hustle and bustle of the big city outside.

This was the most amazing eggs benedict I ever ate. So fresh and different with avocado and ham on it. My friend ate the French Toast and gave me a taste and it was fabulous.

we took advantage of their happy hour when staying there, complimentary pizza when you buy a drink. Good pizza and nice wine. Very buzzy place and can get a bit noisy.

This is a very convenient and delicious lunch spot for a business meeting. There is always so pasta made by scratch to choose from as well as a good selection of salads and other options.

We stayed in The JW Marriott for the night! Clean fresh room with a comfortable bed! Conveniently located in the City with a gem of a restaurant Florentine on the 2nd floor. Perfect breakfast serving lots of food and great service by Cashmir. We had the omelette with cheese and bacon, doughnuts with Nutella, fresh juice and coffee! A styling wood looking restaurant with jazz music playing. Perfect for a small group get together.

Hotel restaurants are typically overpriced and mediocre at best. The Florentine shatters that perception and brings ALL the design, cuisine and service you would expect from Chicago's finest restaurants. The menu isn't huge, but it IS diverse and delicious. Drinks and dessserts are also delightful.

Located in the JW Marriott hotel near the theater district, this is an outstanding restaurant that should be better known. We were staying at the JW Marriott and had two meals there. To clarify, there is "the lounge" in the lobby, a more informal version of the restaurant that is mainly bar and bar snacks and pizza and a nicer restaurant upstairs in the Mezzanine. Several of the reviews I read seem to confuse the two. We ate in the upstairs version. The dinner was wonderful. I arrived with my teenage daughter and we were give comfortable rounded booth. The layout of the restaurant is near perfect - the bar did not interfere with the dining area, there were smaller tables along the windows and areas separated by partition walls for larger gatherings. We had a wonderful experience with the waiter and sommelier, the latter of whom recommended a fantastic wine to go with my main course (lamb). The waiter offered my daughter the lounge menu if the main menu looked a bit daunting, and then apologized graciously after she said, no, she was fine with the yellowfin tuna pasta dish. This seems a small thing, but graciousness is hard to find in this world and we really felt the staff cared about our comfort. We ordered the buffalo mozzerella and prosciutto appetizer, which was average. This is one of those dishes I should know better than to order outside of Italy, but can never resist. My daughter's fazzoletti tuna pasta dish was out of this world. There were a lot of fish dishes on the menu and I would bet this is someone's area of expertise, either the executive chef or the chef d'cuisine. Outstanding. My lamb chops were perfectly cooked. The deserts were incredible and should not be missed. The tiramisu was the best I have ever had, and I order this desert a lot. My daughter had the semifreddo mousse which really was semifreddo. Incredibly good. The desserts alone were worth a visit. Dinner was expensive, but with the service and atmosphere and quality of the dishes, worth every penny. We also had breakfast in this restaurant and it was substantial (very large breakfast portions) and delicious. For the portion size and quality, and, again, the service and atmosphere, the breakfast was a bargain.

Our family had a wonderful meal here, although things were on the noisy side on a Friday night with the after work bar crowd. Once that group left, the noise level was much more tolerable. One of our family members has a limited diet and I was impressed at how accommodating this restaurant was to ensure that he got what he needed for his dinner. Not all restaurants are so willing to adjust spice levels or provide something not on the menu to work with a guest. The two folks that ordered steak said that it was one of the best steaks that they had ever had. My taste of it confirmed that it was excellent. I had the butternut soup which was heavenly and then a half order of risotto. I was pleased that they did a half order because I didn't think that I would be able to manage soup and a full order of the risotto which was also great. Nice decor and friendly and helpful wait staff.

While staying at the JW Marriott in downtown Chicago, we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, the Florentine. The restaurant is beautiful with a very authentic Italian feel. It is very intimate and romantic. We only had breakfast there, but we did review the dinner menu and it had a very wide selection of Italian dishes. The wait staff are very attentive and professional. We felt very valued and the staff did whatever was asked. If you're in the neighborhood, definitely give The Florentine a try.

Food was great. Went with a party from work. Noise level in the restaurant was a bit high, yet it was a party from work. I had a Caesar salad which was ok. I also had a Mahi Mahi pan fried with a prosciutto crust on the skin side with brussel sprouts and a light puree of something - maybe squash with some citrus. The fish was amazing and the service was great. I would definitely return.

I have lived in Chicago for over 30 years and I never knew this restaurant existed! I only discovered it due to a business event. Having indulged in appetizers, lunch, and coffee, I can certify that the food is great. The servers were very courteous and attentive to our needs. As other posters commented about the noise level, yes it was quite loud, but it was not too big of a deal. Overall, this is a great Italian restaurant that is in a prime location to host guests coming from work or from a day of visiting downtown Chicago.

We had brunch there on a Sunday morning. Basically a very comfortable, solid, unspectacular place. If you want eggs, pancakes, omelets, it's all fine. Nothing memorable about the food, but a very easy place to chat and spend time.

A bit on th expensive side, but the service was great, food was amazing. The spacious restraunt, is something that shocked me, in Chicago. On the 2nd floor of the jw Marriott its, relaxing place to have a drink, and some lunch on that side of town.

went there pre-theatre to musical DONNA SUMMER.They are located about a mile from theatres and quick uber.went on sunday night and wine bottles were 50%off so had a good bottle of wine.they start your dinner and serve you a impressive bread tray with some olive oil.best dishes we had were in order branzino-filet mignon- oxtail pasta.they have a 3 course theatre menu for $45.highly recommend.on second floor of hotel.

A great place in the JW Marriott. A lot better than the normal restaurant in a Marriott hotel. Very open, airy with a dark wooden design. Big bar in the middle of the restaurant with excellent food service. Food here is very good, both breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have stayed at the hotel many times and never been disappointed with food or service at the Florentine. P.S. their eggs for breakfast is a must!!

With a somewhat average luncheon menu that covers the basics and is well prepared, the place is a stalwart for the many of us who work in the area and need predictable fare for unpredictable business luncheons. The fake library-style decor and the somewhat challenging acoustics are a distraction.

Starters were nice, main courses took well over an hour to arrive and were luke warm. All the food was over priced. When we complained about the delay in getting the main courses, the manager wasnt interested and demonstrated that they felt we were being unreasonable to complain. Would not recommend. The food wasnt good enough or hot enough to justify how much it was, or how slow it was.

Friendly staff that were attentive without hovering. The breakfast menu offered traditional choices as well as some more gourmet plates. Overall, a nice quiet environment and good coffee!

Quiet, upscale dining, had a very good, almost perfect bone in pork chop. Very reasonably priced wine collection

The food was great the sevice timely and the atmosphere relaxed. I had breakfast and lunch, can not comment on dinner

I had several breakfasts and a lunch and a dinner here while staying at the JW Marriott. High quality, good tasting creative food and solid service. Definitely recommend

Went for brunch on a Sunday. Fairly empty so noise level not an issue but could see how it could be noisier during busy times. Felt more like lunch so I preferred meatballs which were dry along w/ polenta it came with…literally spongy. My daughter had the avocado toast…couldn’t see avocado. We both had tea and total came to about $50 / not including the 20% tip. Service was ok but it’s Covid so sensitive to tipping even when it’s not great service. Our server seemed uninterested. Would not recommend unless staying at this hotel and nothing else open.

Had a few drinks here while staying at the hotel along with a pizza. Cocktails were fun and the pizza was a perfect size for two! The bar was nicely set up and seemed to be lively although we didn't stay for too long.

The service here was excellent. The waiter started by asking about dietary restrictions and preferences. When I stated I was a vegetarian, he disappeared briefly and then returned to tell me which dishes were vegetarian and which could be made so. The food was also excellent, albeit pricey.

Gnocchi was amazing. Most unique preparation I have had. Calamari was butterflied huge pieces that were grilled with an olive, pepper, and cannelini sauce underneath.

I've had a meal for dinner with clients; was very good, and they were very accommodating. The dining room is huge, and they included one very late arrival quite easily. I work nearby and have ordered pickup (once a weekday night and the other a weekend lunch). On the more recent occasion, everything was ready on time. The burger was cooked to order (med-rare). On the first occasion, they forgot to make the fries so I had to eat the burger at the bar while the fries were cooking. They offered a drink for the inconvenience. I also ordered the grilled cauliflower; it was excellent. The portion was huge. The only reason for 4 rather than 5 stars the meal - a burger and fries - is expensive - but it's very good.

I have eaten at The Florentine many times. The breakfast is consistently quite good, with excellent service and-for a hotel restaurant-fairly reasonable prices.

Great food and drink specials at the bar for Happy Hour. Service was exceptional. Enjoyed my food a lot and liked the vibe in there -- didn't feel like a typical hotel restaurant. Definitely worth a visit.

The common perception is that you don't usually find outstanding restaurants in hotels. Well, my wife and I have just returned from a vacation trip to Las Vegas and, trust me, that perception is all fiction. It doesn't figure in Chicago, either. Have you been to the Florentine at the JW Marriott Chicago? Located at 151 West Adams Street in one of the city's newest and finest hotels, the Florentine was opened in 2011 and immediately was rated "Chicago's best restaurant" by Crain's Chicago Business and "Chicago's best new Italian restaurant" by Time Out Chicago. The sleek Italian restaurant, on the second floor, has been masterfully put together by chef Zachary Walrath...cuisine, service, decor, atmosphere. Dinner is a very enjoyable experience. For starters, my wife and I had Caesar salad and bruschetta with romerco sauce, mixed mushrooms, goat cheese and mint pesto on ciabatta. For an entree, my wife chose Faroe Island salmon with baby carrots, fingerling potatoes and shiitake mushrooms. I couldn't resist my favorite new dish, Branzino, the meaty but tender and delicious Mediterranean sea bass, with fingerling potatoes and roasted broccoli. It's amazing. Two years ago, you could rarely find Branzino on anyone's menu. Today, it's everywhere. For dessert, we shared large slices of panna cotta with banana custard and chocolate sauce and chocolate cheesecake with raspberry coulis and chocolate ganache. So who says hotel restaurants don't rate four stars?
good value in a great surrounding
A great lunch and friendly staff. we were looking for a place to have a brunch on a Sunday, everything was closed. We went to the second floor of the Marriott and here was one of the best kept secrets in Chicago. You will be happy that you stopped here for a meal, great surroundings, fast and efficient. The price was right too.
