The Flour Box deserves all the accolades and praise, with owner and baker Pamela Vuong at the helm as a 2022 James Beard award finalist. Every two weeks, there are four rotating and seasonal flavors, which are posted on Instagram and their website (for those of you who are like me and mostly try to stay off social media). They're only opened during limited hours from Thursday to Sunday because they spend the rest of the week prepping and constantly experimenting with new flavors. This bakery is an exemplary model of quality over quantity, and the quality and creativity is high here. Donuts are light, fluffy and, flavorful with just the right amount of filling. I've never had a bad flavor here (tried London Fog and Yuzu Custard). Don't sleep on their brownies. They are to die for - so creamy and fudgy. I'm not a brownie person at all, and I think about them often. Their coffee and Thai tea are also pretty good and worth enjoying with your donuts. The staff is also super friendly and tries to move the line fast. As for the lines...so I have been here twice. I went on a nice sunny Friday at 10:50 AM, waited maybe 10 minutes and all the flavors were still available. I've also gotten here on a drizzly Saturday at 8:30 AM and was one of the first 5 people. The lines started wrapping around the block by 9 AM. They usually sell out by noon and will post live updates of how much stuff is available if you want to check before heading over. They have a lovely and spacious seating area too. I think it's great they are in South Seattle, as we need more businesses like this in the neighborhood to build community and create more spaces for gathering. The owner also grew up in South Seattle (according to Eater) and often collaborates with other local businesses on donut flavors and drinks, so you know they are using the best ingredients and are definitely worth supporting.

..and on our second try, sweet success! 2nd visit to the flour box today. Tried to go a month ago, waited in line for hour+ before they sold out to the customer two ahead of us. Today, got there at 9:30--half-hour prior to opening. Line was already down the block. Pretty festive group, really. Malasadas were top notch- smoked salmon, lemon/lime, coffee brulee, pecan. Go early and have the right mind-set. Enjoy the experience and drama of "will they last til I get to the front of the line!"

We had heard about the Flour Box so decided to get there right when it opened to buy donuts. We arrived 10 minutes before opening and there were already 100+ people in line! We stood in line for 90 minutes in the pouring rain. When we finally made it to the register we ordered 2 of each donut. We tried each one and decided they were ALL worth the wait! Highly, highly, recommend!
