Both my sons live in Brooklyn and we drive up from Phila. to meet for lunch quite often. My sons (in their 30s) always pick the place for lunch/brunch. It is usually pretty cramped and loud. Freehold was a pleasant surprise. We went for Sunday brunch around 12:30 and it was pretty peaceful and nice. The place has high ceilings with skylights and big booths and table spaces. Definitely make a reservation. As the afternoon progressed, it did get louder, music turned up and more crowded. But it had a great vibe. Food was very good and not over priced. $5.00 Bloody Mary's too. WE really enjoyed it. Street parking wasn't too difficult either.

I may be a spoiled San Franciscan, but the acai bowl, was more like over ripe fruit in acai soup. The service, ambiance, other food items, etc were all fine. In fact, my friend loved his mixed market greens with chicken and my son enjoyed the burger.

To be honest we came here as a second choice and was a tad disappointed. Their grade is pending and seems that it’s been pending for quite a while ,I asked the host and was told they had appealed and waiting for the great any day. The staff is super hip and very nice . There were flies flying around and the bathrooms had very slow drains ,that concerns me as a diner . We had two small tables and a really cute couch setting, however ,the tables were so rocky that we had to hold onto them in fear that our breakfast would be in our lap. Even though one person in our party had a hair in their food which ended up in their mouth unfortunately we all still tried to enjoy the food .... this is supposed to be a super fun bar at night and I think I will definitely be back for the bar atmosphere but I will branch elsewhere.

Freehold has a great vibe. It has a smaller menu, which in my opinion means they do it all well. Half price beer, wine, and cocktails are Monday-Friday from 10am-7pm. We started with the House Made Ricotta Crostini. The ricotta cheese blended with the truffle honey is a delight in your mouth. I also had the fried chicken sandwich. It was all white meat and was very moist. It was topped with cabbage slaw and served on a Hawaiian bun. It was very satisfying. The side salad was flavorful and had a great dressing.

The real Williamsburg coffee experience and also a great place to read a book or do a little work!!!

We came by with some friends that were visiting from out of town. The drink menu is appealing with several different cocktails, affordable beers, and a half decent wine list. The bar is expansive with indoor and outdoor spaces on two floors. There is also a ping pong table and several arcade games. Service was hit or miss, but we were a big group so it was okay. I would definitely recommend to those in the area!

Great night out with family. Loved the environment; very chill. Drinks were good. Will be back again whenever in New York.

Freehold is a large venue experience. It's a place to meet up with friends or co-workers. With free internet you can work on your computer. They have bar snacks, salads, sandwiches. There's an outdoor ping pong table and many comfortable sitting areas. Cocktails, beer and wine are available and there's Happy Hour during the week.

What a great space for a restaurant/cafe/activity/community like experience!! Seriously, it is spacious, with a great lounging feel to it--The kind of place you can hang out and have a nice long chat with friends from the West Coast! We were there at 11:00 AM right when the restaurant part opened and the menu was a very suitable mix of breakfast and lunch items! We had chicken fried French toast!--A real hit!! The salmon/fried egg dish, the breakfast hash plate, and the odd man out, --pulled pork and fries! It was really great, except the scorched brioche bun, and scorched toast on the two other plates. Very odd indeed....And just so you know, on a Sunday, they have full reservations for all seating for 1:00 PM, so definitely get a reservation if you will not go there before noon. Enjoy!

Four of us were looking for a place to meet for a casual business lunch so we selected Freehold. Lots of tables both inside and outside. Great food and drinks too. Highly recommend!

Went to Freehold while visiting a friend who lives in Williamsburg. I guess this place is a coffee shop in the morning and a bar/ playground a night. We went at night, it appears to be a fancy place by first impressions, especially inside the bar, but after spending a few minutes you realize its just a nice hangout. I was very surprised, the beer was on the lower price range and so was the food. I had the Dirty Egg Sandwich which was a nice little surprise. The fun really starts in this place when you go out to the patio area. They have a ping pong table and corn hole boards. The atmosphere was very laid back and fun, had an excellent time. I think this place would be a good time in any city.

Freehold is a great space, I first discovered the cafe, and didn't know about the restaurant in the back, what a great place, amazing food, great specials, and fabulous staff that allow you to hang their all day long.

Nice spot in a quieter area of town. Good selection of beers and cocktails. Feels like a great locals bar. Has a small roof deck for those summer evenings.

Good solid all-around spot. Good little patio and plenty of seating. Service was very friendly and fast. Large bar area so you do not feel very crowded. I would highly recommend coming here during the day for some drinking or night, obviously.

One of my favorite spots to work in Williamsburg is Freehold Brooklyn. The space is amazing! It’s a mixture of coffeeshop / bar / external courtyard. It has natural light all around, which is definitely one of the highlights here. The menu is very diverse, ranging from bagels & pastries, to breakfast specials, salads, snacks, sandwiches and desserts. There are numerous drink options too like cocktails, house classics, shooters, beer, wine, liquor, and obviously tea and different types of coffee! It’s opened for everyone to just walk in, sit, work, have fun, meet young and interesting people, and have great food. Wifi is free and you have energy plugs all around, which is also perfect for people that come in to work, hence...it's a freelance friendly place! YAY! Oh, and the "play" happens after work hours. The place gets quite full, loud music and great people! No tourists!

It's like a coffee-shop / hang-out / "work from here" kinda place by day, and turns into a bit of a "see and be seen" joint at night. The vibes are chill, the staff is cool, and the wifi is free. What more could you ask for? (Oh, Greg Boulos - the chef, is really quite good at taking the ordinary, and twisting it by around 10% to give it just that little bit of unfamiliar kick that makes all the difference)

Went there with my girlfriend for breakfast. Location is great - many different areas. You can sit outside, inside at the bar, diner tables, couches, coffee bar etc. ... Had coffee and joghurt which were good - maybe a little bit overpriced. service was generally nice as well, but before we left we wanted to check out one of their arcade games in the back. Machine took the money, but did not let us start, so we asked one of the waiters to help out. She told us that she would get the general manager for this. It took him 10 minutes to show up (he was sitting at the bar around the corner - playing around with his mac... for real). Then he finally showed up, obviously pissed that we "interrupted" him from hanging around (i mean the place was almost empty), fumbled around at the machine for 5 seconds and told us to use the other machine, which was already timed out at this moment and therefore wasn't working correctly either. I mean the situation itself was no big deal, but if your GM has such an attitude towards guests, i pretty much an idea of what this whole thing is up to... One star for location and another one for ambience, but I think I will not go there again. Good luck with this dude...

This place is second best in my opinion in Brooklyn after Devocion but is also very nice. Loved the coffee and croissant with cream cheese is a must. Their outdoors area is amazing and unique in NYC in terms of space and atmosphere. The guy from Senegal that works there is really nice and took care of everything. Thanks from Brazil!

What can I possibly say that others haven't yet?! Well, if you're reading this review here's what I think of Freehold. WHY ARE OTHER BARS NOT AS COOL AS YOU! Boasting a super large indoor and outdoor space, Freehold is home many a night to millennials finishing long work days, grabbing drinks and hanging with friends. One of the reasons Freehold is so popular, at least for me and my friends, is because it's not simply a bar. It boasts a large game room in the back, including a ping pong table outside. The bar is pretty large too, with very high ceilings and modern designs so you don't feel like you're stepping on peoples toes even when it's full. The outdoor space is perfect in summer and winter. They have heaters warming up certain seating areas so you can have a nice chill beer and cigarette in the winter while keeping warm (every humans dream). I usually order wine although my friends are cocktail lovers and the ones they've ordered until now have always been great. They are cool with substitutions. The wine menu is small but the variety is great. One of the issues we always fall into is finding a bar with good drinks that also serve good food. Here at Freehold we found our happy medium. They have an extensive menu with a variety of superb dishes. Of the dishes I have tried (Pictures posted below) I would come back and order those again and again. I do enjoy the fact that they have different menus for different times of the day. The brunch menu, Dinner menu and Late night menu all have different options so if you're going, you should definitely try each one. The service has always been a breeze when I go, on the occasion a server will be busy with a million other things but if you go over to the bar they'll come help you right away. I honestly love Freehold, and absolutely love that a place like this exists in Brooklyn in my own back yard!

Great spot for drinks and food, service friendly and fast and they also have Games night on Wednesday Night.

The bar is set out as a hotel lobby and it works. Plenty of space inside and out. Good selection of beers. Relax in comfy couches or sit at the working table with everyone else on their Mac books.

Had a great time at freehold. The bartenders were friendly and fast. I just wish the people doing the security would be more polite.

Small neighborhood cafe with very industrial decoration. Suitable prices even if it remains New York. The coffee was very good. A good place for a break.

Relaxed & friendly atmosphere with good music. Food was really tasty too! I bit of a walk from the subway station but persevere as it's worth it!

A fantastic club based in Brooklyn playing a wide array of music, with a great atmosphere amongst a beautiful setting

Wife, daughter, her friend, and I attended Trivia Night on WED night before Thanksgiving. 3 hamburgers, some sweet potato fries, and several drinks. We ended up winning the Trivia contest, so we got $50 off our bill, and a $50 gift card for a future visit. Great fun evening!

....now who wants that hey? But once you are in, the vibe is fun if a little busy. Drinks are on point!

Checking Freehold website you'll see a number of options covering everyday of the week so want to clarify we we're a group of 9 celebrating a birthday on a Saturday night at their 'DJ Series'. We reserved a booth for 8pm in the main indoor bar area which had a $700 dollar minimum spend. First impressions: Great mix of music and spaces with a cross-section of clientele that was diverse while still reminding you of the Williamsburg location. Music was loud! This is not a spot for a quiet date night... Seeing as we wanted to eat as well as drink we ordered a number of 'Check-in' (apps) and 'Room Service' (entrees) menu items. Pretty much all of them were excellent. The Avocado Toast was a huge chunk of toast (unsurprisingly) generously loaded with x2 eggs. Truffle fries were as good as I've eaten and i hear the Crostinis were great just never made it to me. My only observation is while the Dip Set is plentiful, the 'assorted vegetables' (raw) weren't so much. Item's from the 'Room Service' selection also noteworthy the Fried Chicken Sandwich. Where I feel i really have to commend Freehold is with the service to our table. I wish I'd heard our servers name so i could make a specific mention but she really was excellent. This may have been a result of few available tables but more likely that they put extra emphasis on groups like ours really having a good time. We ran up a pretty decent bill in the process! In summary, this is a great spot for any occasion if you want the full package of food/drinks/music/dancing in one location, plus a number of decent bathrooms (so rare in NYC)! Not much else to say other than don't leave it too late to arrive. Busy when we got there at 8pm and a notable queue when we left after midnight!

They sure do know how to throw a great party, even on a weekday. We visited a few times during our stay in New York. Alcohol prices are reasonable for this part of Brooklyn, the music and events are awesome - they have live bands, comedy nights, just good atmosphere. Also really nice terrace!

My friends and I really enjoyed coming here on a weekend night for drinks. Very crowded but also a really cool venue

Freehold is home court. There is absolutely no better place in the greater NYC area to day drink on a nice spring/summer day. I've been to Make Believe, I've been to the Public Rooftop, I've been to Boulton & Watt, I've been to the Ready Rooftop. All of these places are like Freeholds ugly little step cousin. My fault that's the red wine at altitude talkin. There is an outdoor patio that has ample space and a full service bar. I'm a little too loaded off this pinot rn to say what I want to say but it is a fantastic environment to grab a table and order some pizza or to get in there and really get active. FREEHOLD... THIS IS FOR YOU!!! IG @jnov_ TIktok @jnov__
Great garden and fun atmosphere
Ended up at Freehold after walking across the Williamsburg bridge into Brooklyn. It was a beautiful day so we sat in the garden to have brunch. The food was delicious. I had a fried chicken burger and it was fantastic. The service was a bit sporadic, but I didn't care. After weeks of rain, being out in the sun in a fun location with friends this was a nice way to start my Saturday afternoon.
