one of my faves. I heart red hook. friendly friendly people at this place, interesting menu.

The Good Fork has some of the most fantastic food in Brooklyn. It is definitely worth traveling to Red Hook to experience their unique back garden and exciting dishes. The bone marrow french onion soup was fantastic as was their signature chicken dish. Wine and beer lists were well curated.

The setting was charming and relaxed, we sat in the backyard patio. The food was very good farm to table fare. We had nice service and enjoyed a pleasant, Sunday night celebratory dinner with friends. It is a local find!

Nice small venue managed by youngsters, friendly but not enthusiastic. Good food in a rather short menu, anyway an excellent choice in the area of Red Hook.

I've been to The Good Fork about a half dozen times and always had a good meal there. The prices are decent, the portions are on the small side, but the food is fresh and well prepared. The drinks are excellent, the ambiance delightful, and service wonderful.

We were there on New Year's Eve. Ben was very sweet to accommodate us last minute. Just talking to him over the phone made us want to go there. The food was crazy good!! One of those meals where everything is perfect....and I dont say that often :)) The place is cozy but I thought it was adorable and had a great atmosphere. The service was also professional, thorough, well-timed, and very friendly. We had some lovely champagne too. Really overall a great experience and I would definitely go again!

Red Hook is an interesting section of Brooklyn.Home to Ikea and Fairway. If you are in Manhattan ,the most enjoyable way to get there is the Ikea ferry from Wall Street. Once you are there The Good Fork is a few short blocks away on Van Brundt the main drag. The decor is interesting, it's like being in the bowels of a wooden sailing ship. The food is excellent, Korean influenced American Bistro. Reasonably priced with attentive service

We were taken aback at first by how small the place is, but it's part of what makes it so wonderful: the noise level can only get so high and the service is terrific! The menu is made new daily so everything is fresh as can be and sourced locally. It was great to have such a delicious salad with no cheese on it! The St Louis style ribs and steak and eggs were hits at our table but the lamb curry with homemade tagliatelle pasta took the prize last night! Can't wait to go back!

Fork is not the four letter word that I would choose to describe the service here. My suggestion is to bring your own snacks because you may get hungry sitting idly with only your drink for nourishment. After an hourlong wait I had to call out for a crust of bread. My Duvel beer was served in a snifter glass which maintains a head on the beer but when the head subsided it revealed a bug in my beer. I flagged down a waitress and she helpfully took my spoon, flicked the bug out and then handed me back the glass and the spoon. My companions and the people at the adjacent table all were appalled. It was not all so weird. The food when it eventually arrived was tasty and had it arrived in a timely manner my opinion would have been substantially better. PS. I never finished the beer.

Just love it, good food, small place, perfect menu and excellent service

ohhh it's far, but it's heaven!

Our Red Hook favorite

Get thee to Red Hook. Go to the Good Fork. Eat the dumplings. Have the Korean Steak and Eggs. Enjoy the pleasant, attentive but unobtrusive service. Interesting and reasonable wine list. Great spirits, some locally sourced. Just an amazing restaurant. Go!

We ate at the Good Fork in Red Hook, Brooklyn last night and had a delightful time and delicious meal. I had the roast chicken which was on a bed of mashed potato and was moist, warm and delicious. One of my companions had the streak and eggs which he said was a nice combination and very tasty. Good size portions in a warm and inviting atmosphere. I would have liked more vegetables as part of my chicken entree and would have liked the female server to have refilled my wine at the same time as the three times she came over to our table to refill my three male companion's glasses.

Enjoy Korean American eats in a comfortable and welcoming place. Seats for 2-8 in 2 rooms as well as an outdoor patio. One of the best burgers that I have had in a long time. If you prefer something lighter- try the starter menu, particularly the dumplings, fried green tomatoes and scallion pancakes.

My husband and I "discovered " this little gem of a restaurant in Red Hook this weekend when looking for an early brunch. We were delighted by the electric menu including locally brewed draft beers . Our server was knowledgeable about both the food and beverages , no fuss when we asked to sample brews we were not familiar with. Both of our dishes The bibimbap , my first time was tasty the beef was deliciously rare and tender the waiter happily provided guidance on how to best enjoy (attack) the large portion and the butternut squash and scallion dishes were terrific. The service was attentive, not intrusive. The restaurant has a warm funky look and feel . We were there on a cold day but it looks like there is a beautiful back room and perhaps a garden. . We look forward to exploring these on our next visit as well as sampling more of the interesting menu items . Def worth a visit , street parking was free and very easy

After the mix up with my booking last month I must credit Ben and the team for accommodating another visit to Good Fork. The food was fantastic with the Korean-style steak & eggs and potato parsnip mash the highlights of an enjoyable evening.

We chose The Good Fork because of its good reputation for food as well as reasonable prices. It was a little out of the way for us in Red Hook but we wanted to try something new. The owner was very friendly from giving us directions to helping us order. They did say everything was good and it was but I went with the duck confit which was the the most delicious I've ever tried. It was served medium rare with French lentils and scallions. The sauce was tasty but subtle. My husband and I split a beet salad the was good but perhaps a little too cold. My husband as a vegetarian loved the ravioli served with hot and baked with a creamy looking cheese sauce on top. I thought the deserts were good but not up to the rest of the meal. I has a chocolate bread pudding which was a little too dense and sweet. My husbands apple pie looked impressive but tasted just good not as great as it looked. We loved the ambiance; a combination of homey, pretty and unique. We felt like we were eating in another part of the country. The service was very good as well. All in all we loved it.

Good food nice place to get a brunch on the weekend. The dumplings were really good and the chicken sandwich was great. The kimchi was a good side as well

We are unfamiliar with Brooklyn and thought the Red Hook neighborhood might be dodgy, but it turned out fine. The outdoor seating was quiet and comfortable. We ordered the scallion pancake for openers, and the short ribs and skate for entrees. Each dish was terrific. We’d be glad to return and continue sampling the other creative things on the menu.

Have been staying in the red hook area for the first time and have tried a lot of the local eateries . The Good Fork stands out head and shoulders above the others! Small but varied menu with a Korean twist ,the cooking has been excellent , staff very friendly . Would recommend very much ,shame we are leaving !!

I've been there a couple of times. Once for dinner inside and once for lunch outside. Both times I had really bad service issues. First of all, the place is adorable. One of the best atmosphere restaurants in NYC, both inside and on the patio. At dinner, I ordered a fish that was way overcooked, but the waiter never came by to see how we were doing, so I wasn't able to tell him I couldn't eat it. When he came to clear our plates, I let him know. He did not care. I think it was around $34 for something I could not eat. The second time, we asked to sit on the patio at lunch. The hostess told us there was no seating available on the patio. When we said we would wait, she seated us on a patio with about 8 empty tables and only one other table was sat while we were there. What? So, after those two experiences we probably won't go back.

Started my Sunday evening at Sunny’s for a few drinks, made my way to Fort Defiance for an Irish coffee and planned to end my evening with takeout food from the Good Fork. Having never been to the Goid Fork I was excited to try their food since I’m a huge fan of Gage & Tollner their sister restaurant. Ordered a beer while I waited for my food. Opened my order when I got home and unfortunately the food order got messed up. I spoke with management and they did agree to reverse the charge for the messed up item. I suppose mistakes do happen so I’m going to leave a positive review. But I sorely miss that I never had the opportunity to try their cheesesteak and was stuck with a Sheppard pie in its place. Dinner ruined. Sigh :(

Sundays brunch at the Good Fork is worth the excursion in the Red Hook neighborhood where it is still pretty quiet, with empty street so close the crowd of Brooklyn. Great Bloody Mary. The chef is Korean and it gives an exotic touch to some of the dishes. The dumplings as a starter are definitely a must. The steak & egg as well as the bibimbop were delicious, the tortilla shell with avocado and pulled chicken was a bit disappointing as not so tasty. Nice and quite garden in the back, cosy inside. Well worth the Red Hook tour this Sunday.

I dined here with my family the night after Christmas. The cordial co-owner greeted and sat us in the back dining room which was quiet and cozy. We received excellent and attentive service - the bartender custom made a special non-alcoholic drink for my niece that she proclaimed the best she'd ever had. Among the highlights of the meal were the fried brussel sprouts, the green kabocha squash, the homemade pork dumplings, the noodles in a duck rage and the Korean-style steak and eggs. The brisket special was also quite tasty as were the decadent desserts. It was definitely an enjoyable experience that we look forward to again in the future.

We were sat in the back and our waitress did not come around very often, but everything else was excellent. The good fork seems like a fusion of American and Asian foods and they come up with combinations of food that are very mind blowing. The ambiance is relaxing and all of the items on the menu are worth ordering.

I arrived here with high expectations, the word was this place is great and lo, for once in NYC, it turned out to be even better than I imagined. Our server was sweary, which as a Brit always makes me feel at ease and the food arrived swiftly and was, I kid you not, perhaps some of the best I had in New York in a week and half of treating myself. Super savoury, super flavourful, super good. All the supers. Worth a detour to Red Hook to get some of this comfort food in your life. And swearing, plenty of swearing.

While the Good Fork is set in a rather hard to access part of Brooklyn, the food is well worth going for again and again. Delectable American fare with a Korean flair, atmosphere is simultaneously cozy and lively, service friendly and welcoming. Plus, great caipirinhas!

I chose to celebrate my birthday with a few close friends at this cozy little restaurant. The blood orange margaritas were divine, as were the famous dumplings we ordered as appetizers. The main dishes were incredible: diver scallops over beet risotto, roast chicken, and rack of lamb, all served by our charming waitress who made us feel like a welcome guest in her own home. We somehow managed to find room for key lime pie (with birthday candle, of course). I plan to return and try out the garden seating before the weather gets too cold.

For the most part, the food was very tasty and well prepared. The ribs were downright delicious, as was the shrimp pancake. However, the "halibut" on the menu came to the table, and it was either haddock or hake - much less expensive and much less tasty fish. In fact, the fish did not resemble halibut in the slightest. After talking (politley) to the manager, he insisted that I was wrong (my dad was seafood chef and I know the difference between halibut and haddock, for heaven's sake). It's a real shame, because everything else about the meal was really very good. Anyway - to the owner - not everybody who eats in your restaurant is an idiot raised on fish sticks and hot dogs - there are peoiple out there who know their food, even in Brooklyn! If this dish had been served to a critic for a major publication, your restaurant would be in real trouble, so consider yourself a lucky, dishonest restauranteur.

From the moment I walked in I knew it was going to be a great experience. First of all the place was packed full of people; a very good sign. My friends and I were seated right a way and the service was attentive. I loved the coziness of the place and the welcoming atmosphere. They had my favorite Korean dish on the menu, Bi Bim Bop. It was like I was back in Seoul again.

Enjoyed a day of walking around Red Hook... Good Fork offered a tasty offering of brunch items. I had the avocado toast, which was really delicious, and had pickled onions/deviated slightly from your everyday avocado toast. Liked the bacon. Friend liked her salad. Would return. It was crowded and we were lucky to get a table so would recommend reservations.

I have been a NYC native most of my life and have with that shared in many succulent dishes around the city, but dropping of my children in red hook July 6th 2013 changed everything , when my family and I walked into the Good Fork in Red Hook Brooklyn. The atmosphere was great, our hostess who was also a local artist was amazing as well. we all tried different meals my wife and Mother-in law had the Korean steak and eggs and I fell in love with the classic bibimbop. The food is reasonably priced. I recommend this quaint spot to any in town foodie or out of towners adventurer. Kudos to the owner whoever he is...By the way the decor is also cool.

We ate at TGF with my daughter and a friend - the menu is light on vegetarian options, but my wife (who is veggy) found a couple of starters which sounded nice and had one as a main. The rest of us had lamb, beef and fish. All cooked and presented well - as one of the chefs is Korean, there is also kimchi on the menu, which was great as a "between courses" taster. Drinks menu has beers, wines and some killer cocktails if you like that sort of thing (we do). Bill for four came to $300 including the tip (for Brits in NYC, the going rate is now 18-20%, so allow for this when reading the menu). Only disappointment was that some items were already off the menu (we ate around 8.00pm) but they tried hard to make up by offering a free dessert (which was very good).

Out of the way, but totally worth it. Korean cuisine meets comfort food.

Fabulous!

Wanted to love, but was disappointed. Food was under seasoned and sounded better on the menu than it tasted. Service was not good either.

Thank goodness they survived to re-open after the super storm. Ben's handmade wooden interior gives a warm glow to the fantastic dishes coming from the kitchen. The dumplings are superb, as are the Korean Savory Pancakes, the Pekin Duck Breast, the Korean-Style Steak & Eggs, the Roasted Chicken, and of course, Steve's Key Lime Pie. The wine list is fairly-priced. Reservations are a must.

This place is incredible. From the moment you walk in the door you feel like you are at home. A small place with a patio area for the good weather days you should probably make reservations because its that good and is always packed. Incredible Korean American fusion food. Great cook book and great reviews of the cook book in the Washington Post are spreading the word of Good Fork. We had awesome service and incredible food, the pot. We had the dumplings and the scallion pancakes and they were both yummy but did not last long on our table despite the generous portions. Most of the table had the steak and eggs Korean style and everyone raved, I think they are famous for this dish. The shell steak was delicious too I can't even remember all the other good things we ordered and ate but everything was a hit. Great cocktail menu and beer menu. You can not go wrong at the Good Fork. Cannot go wrong here, can't wait till we go back

Came for brunch. The food is Korean fusion, and the flavors and meal were spot-on. The decor is funky. Service was attentive but not overly so. Save room for a piece of Steve's Key Lime pie. Ample street parking closeby

I went with an old friend and had a great time. Great ambience and close quarters encourage closer gatherings. The drink menu is very good (she had an orange Bloody Mary and I had the Manhatten). Dinner was also very good. Pork chops were excellent- tender, flavorful, good presentation. The grouper was very good as well, but if I had to do it again I would've gone for the pork chops over the grouper. Dessert entailed a hot chocolate cake with a liquid center that was well worth it as well. Definitely worth a visit!

Fantastic food and great service in an interesting area of Brooklyn - although it was out first visit to Red Hook, the Good Fork has ensured it won't be our last. A great mix of American and Far East flavours, served beautifully and with panache. Loved the meal here and we'll be back soon as we can.

For years, we used to meet our Park Slope friends in Manhattan when we visited NYC. But Brooklyn is quickly becoming our preferred meeting place. Good Fork did not disappoint. It is a relatively small restaurant in a narrow brick building. The bar is at the back of the restaurant away from the door. There are only four (maybe six?) seats at the bar. But if you can grab a pair of seats before dinner you won't be disappointed. The hipster bartender is warm and friendly and sports a full beard -- which is apparently de rigueur for all NYC bartenders this decade. He also happens to make fantastic cocktails. Our friends ordered the house Negronis. I ordered the Fiscal Cliff for my husband (he prefers lighter, slightly sweet cocktails) and I had the Trance of the Harpsichord (I like boozy or "spirit forward" cocktails). They were all wonderful ... but the Harpsichord was the clear winner. With regard to dinner, first things first --- you MUST order the house made Dumplings. The meat eaters in our group (3 of the 4) thought they were sensational. I don't eat meat but pass on their enthusiastic recommendations. We all absolutely loved the asparagus appetizer that is also part of their regular menu. The rest of our dinner were that evening's specials both fish and meat. They were fabulous ... and if I had fewer Harpsichords, I could tell you all about them. This much I know for sure, the bluefish was excellent. We ordered at least two desserts, the olive oil cake, the key lime pie and possibly one more. I know the olive oil cake was the winner because my husband is STILL talking about how good it was. Last but not least, our server was warm, friendly and attentive. All in all, it was a great night and we highly recommend Good Fork.

Small restaurant with hipster clientele. Modern Korean food. Delicious and beautifully presented. Friendly, real good service by a lovely hip woman. Very Brooklyn. Had to take Uber to and fro from Manhattan. The Scallion Pancake is worth the trip alone!

Ate at The Good Fork at the recommendation of a friend who insisted we get the burger because it was 'the best anywhere.' Ambiance was cozy, service was excellent, food was delicious and well-prepared, produce was from the farm down the street, price was reasonable for the generous portions, and the burger was indeed very likely the best burger we'd ever had. Plus, tempura onion rings... who knew? Can't wait to go back! Our meal... drinks: best French 75s I've had all year starters: mixed AV field greens, pork and chive dumplings, and that night's special four-cheese tortelloni with mustard-green pesto and pine nuts. mains: wild striped bass with barley, oyster mushroom, parsnips, red wine mushroom reduction and the good fork burger with tempura onion rings. dessert: flourless chocolate cake

One of our absolute local favourites during our month long stay in Park Slope. Only a short trip on the B61 away, The Good Fork was originally recommended to us by staff at other (non related) restaurants - we were very happy that they did. Service was very friendly, great atmosphere, well priced wine list - but the food was the star here. Classic dishes with just a touch of Korean influence. Chanterelle vol au vent with gruyere and thyme, home made pork and chive dumplings, Duck leg confit, skirt steak beautifully cooked with fried egg, arugula, apple and kimchee rice. On another visit the pancake, maltagliata, free range chicken and lamb saddle were equally sensational. Thanks Taua for everything. Highly recommended.

Had a group of friends going to make chocolate at Raaka and this lovely place was willing to give us a reservation. Small and charming with lovely outdoor seating. Limited menu with interesting items. Great blood orange (fresh squeezed) mimosas. We all had different items and everyone was happy. Best local key line pie -better than Joes Stonecrab in Miami! Will come again-excellent waitstaff as well!

We went with a party of 6 and were seated overlooking the patio. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal except me. I picked an Asian noodle meal from the menu that reminded of the wonderful yaki soba I'd had in Japan. It was noting more than a glorified version of rarmen. My mistake I don't hold the house responsible. The service was great, the wine recomended was great and we had a wonderful time in a very cozy atmosphere.

Enjoyed brunch on the back patio. Menu is small, but has enough variety and the food was well done. Prices are reasonable.

The food is sensational, the drinks are great and good atmosphere. In fact it would be 5 stars but it is a bit cramped with some tight spots inside. Loved their specials and the red hook neighborhood. Is funky great. We go several times a year and usually take others here

Absolutely pathetic customer service. I made a booking a month in advance, then received 3 x confirmation text messages prior to the booking (including 2 the day of). This is important when your restaurant is way out of the way in Red Hook. But when we arrived at the restaurant a guy in the kitchen told us it was closed. All we got from the restaurant was an apologetic phone call 15 minutes later. Does nothing when we just travelled all the way from Midtown. Do yourself a favor and bypass this amateur, poorly run restaurant. Not worth the effort.

I had never been to the Red Hook section of Brooklyn always having heard that it was a rather drab industrial area but, upon the recommendation of a friend's son who lives not far away, I went with three friends to Good Fork for supper and all of us were just delighted with our meal. The menu is limited but imaginative with some combinations that were certainly new to me. Lovely setting, fine service and excellent food -- what else does one need?!?

This place has been around for quite a while but produces wonderful meals. IT is a bit crowded so make sure that you have a reservation. The food and service will not disappoint you as the quality of dishes is very high and has been all of the times that I have gone. It revolves around what is good in the market and the seafood , meat and veggies are terrific. Although Red Hook is a bit off the beaten track it is well worth while to go there; you will not be sorry.

Great overall menu, beautiful restaurant, amazing cocktails. Burgers used to be better but they switched the bun. Tempura fried onion rings are the stuff of dreams. Steak with kimchee rice and egg is superb. And their oysters lightly fried in cornmeal are so delicate and delicious -- I could go on and on, but just go and see for yourselves

We arrived on a fairly warm day and were seated outside. The outdoor area looked cute, but we couldn't enjoy it as it was too windy and there were too many flying insects. We asked to be moved inside- which they did rather promptly. The service was okay, not great, and food was really forgettable. Even presence of Drew Barrymore and her family that were eating there that night, could not make this a more memorable experience. Others seemed to enjoy the place and the food and appeared to be regulars in this restaurant. Unfortunately I was not impressed.

Get the dumplings to start and a glass of wine white. Then a glass of red with steak and eggs and kimchee! My wife and I have been coming here for a decade!

Our party of 4 had diner on Halloween, We were pleasantly surprised about how cozy the space was and the friendly staff. Cocktails were excellent but the real delight came from the wonderful dishes we had: Chanterelle mushroom salad, and Skatewing to start with black Tagliatelle with tuna, duck breast and tofu with fried egg and Kimchee rice was wonderful. Enjoy!

Hey, I went to your restaurant on July 5th with my family for a lunch before they got on the Queen Mary and I have to say the food was delicious we are native New Yorkers and have been to many restaurants in the city but you guys take the prize. My wife had the Korean steak and I had the classic bibimbop which was a delightful mix of awesomeness and WOW. I send my compliments to the Chef with all the Tats who made the food. We are due back in August and we were not going to travel into the city again as we live upstate now, but your food has me questioning my decision . Thanks so much for opening and have the best atmosphere and food I've had in quite a Looooong time

I was taken here by a friend last night because she saw it on Bobby Flay's Smackdown. It is a quaint little restaurant on a back street in Red Hook, not a place you would find because it is not yet a strolling neighborhood. The food is American with a Korean influence. I had Korean barbecue skirt steak which was delicious and cooked perfectly. Judging by the empty plate my friend enjoyed her roast chicken and mashed potatoes. We shared pork and chive dumplings ( the owner won the Smackdown on these) and duck confit egg rolls, both delicious and perfect to share. Tow excellent glasses of wine, a Sancerre and a rich, velvety Valpolicella. The dessert was Steve's Key Lime Pie, made in Brooklyn, terrifically tart and sweet. Great little place that I definitely recommend. Parking was easy on a Thursday evening. We arrived at 7:45, and it was quiet, an hour later it was bustling with young Brooklynites.

Super cute, quintessential neighborhood hideout. Lots of seating options between the indoor, sunroom and patio areas. I went for a Saturday brunch and had the bibimbap bowl (tasty!) and a side of homemade kimchi (good flavor, not too pungent or spicy). The staff was nice enough to charge my dead phone for me.

Brooklyn near Red Hook cozy casual with fair prices for comfort food. Two specials a night. Under appetizers, the dumplings are great. Decent wine list. Pork, fish well-prepared.

I was absolutely blown away by the food and service at Good Fork in Red Hook. We were a bit nervous that it wouldn't live up to the prices which seemed a bit high, especially for Red Hook, but everything was amazing. We arrived without a reservation and were told we could have the cool little table in the corner as long as we could be done by the time the reservation arrived. The quaint, lovely, garden area was completely full already though I'd go back just to sit out there. Service was very good throughout, very friendly and helpful with recommendations. It wasn't particularly fast, but the atmosphere lent to a laid back feeling and we enjoyed relaxing and taking it all in. The wine, sourced locally from the nearby winery, was exquisite, not expensive, and complimented the food very well. The mussels we ordered as an appetizer were delicious. It was a huge plate of about 30 mussels in an incredible spice that hinted of old bay. The garlic bread was also delicious, I wish they gave more than one slice. The mussels were obviously high quality as they had none of the hint of fishiness you often get with them. The duck breast was superbly tasty and was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The veggies and sauce were also wonderful. I really liked the spicy sauce but wish there was more. The bass special was also very good and came in a delicious stew. We even ordered dessert because the dulce de leche and pepper ice cream sounded too good to resist. It was everything I hoped for and more. I could have dealt with it being spicier with more pepper, but realize not everyone wants to cry with their ice cream. The spice was well balanced with a delicious savory taste. Red Hook may be a bit far out of the way, but with he free Ikea ferry and how good this meal was, I think we will be back.

The breakfast/brunch menu looks conventional at first glance but then it turns out that the dish with eggs, skirt steak and rice comes with vegetables and flavors you would expect in a Korean restaurant. What a delicious and satisfying meal. My wife has tried a lot of fresh yogurt and granola around town, and this was among the best. We are eager to try the place for dinner when back in Red Hook next month.

GREAT PLACE

Great food & Folks

great american food, wonderful brunch place.

I am a regular dinner at the restaurant with my partner. This is one of the few restaurants were high food quality and value come together in one location. Moreover, the high food quality has really been maintained over the years. Additionally, the wait staff really knows how to treat you special-- they are responsive and laid back at the same time. I would recommend the duck and specialized cocktails-- try the red hook cooler on a hot afternoon to get back in the right frame of mind. Tip-- get there early if you want a great seat-- tends to get crowded after 7PM "you can spend more on gourmet food in NYC, but why bother when you have consistently high quality food in the fork" Pros= Great food and value, and great service easy parking and close to fairway Con- Small restaurant, wish the backyard was expanded

A perfect fusion of Americana/French and Korean. Sumptuous meals, great appetizers and wine selection. My wife and I have been coming here for years.

We had the pleasure of sitting out in the back yard of this restaurant on one of the first warm days of spring. Friends who live in Manhattan took us over to Red Hook on the ferry, which is worth doing (and free!). Our egg roll appetizers were nothing to write home about, but I loved the night's special, pork loin wrapped in bacon and served over mashed rutabaga. There were also some grilled pineapples that I could have done without, but maybe that's just me. My friends raved about the cocktails; I just had a glass of Sancerre, which is always a treat. The servers were hardworking and generally on the ball, though at my table the other five people got drinks and I didn't get mine. When another five minutes went by and I still hadn't gotten mine, I asked her and she acted as if I was being unreasonable. But at that point the restaurant was filling up and she was probably stressed. Overall, a good experience.

The Good Fork is not about finger food, but creative dishes that bring together nature's bounty with the hands of expert cooking. Our favorites are the pork dumplings to start followed by the roasted chicken. You also have to have the Red Hook Winery Cab Franc which is made just a few blocks away from the Good Fork in Red Hook. You cannot get more local especially in the summer time when the chefs serve local produce grown in the Red Hook Community Gardens. The best tables are in the front when we once saw Michelle Williams eating with her child and boy friend.

every meal has been both exciting and a pleasure. The wait staff are terrific. The food is extraordinary and unique

Stopped in on a Saturday with my husband. There was a 45-minute wait but they took our phone number, we got a drink at Fort Defiance and we got a call about 50 minutes later. The host was really nice, as was our waitress. They have a good wine selection (reasonably priced too!). We got dumplings & croquettes for appetizers, both were good, neither blew me away. However, our mains were delicious. My husband got the fluke and absolutely loved it. I got the crab cake appetizer & side of asparagus - both were fantastic. For dessert we split the chocolate bread pudding which was also delicious. I would definitely come back - they change up the menu with the seasons, it seems, and I'd be interested to see what else they have in store!

It was a dark and rainy night... it actually was and my wife and I were driving from Manhattan home to Brooklyn and decided to check out The Good Fork in Red Hook on the way. What a find. The food was delicious, help so warm and friendly (possibly helped by the small crowd, a result of the weather I'm sure) and the prices quite reasonable. We started out with caipirinhas and I knew we'd come to the right place as I watched the bartender use a mortar to mash the limes. It was as good as any we'd had in Rio. My wife had the fried fennel salad with blood oranges and I had the soup, knob celery with another veggie I'd never heard of. Both were great. I had the pork wrapped in bacon, my wife the duck, and again, both were excellent and the portions just right. For dessert we had the key lime pie, which comes from a local bakery that specializes in them, and so while not made in house, was exquisite. The bill came to $110 (with tax and tip), which for food that good was really a great price. The place is really cute. It has the look of a boat, and the owner, whom we talked to briefly, built it himself. You need reservations on weekends he said, but I'd say it's well worth making them.

We went with friends who knew the owners. The service was great. The food was okay. My wife spent the evening in the bathroom because the appetizer disagreed with her. We haven't been back

I was already "hangry" and not really excited about the "nonconforming" menu items, but narrowed it down to the Pork Tenderloin and spaetzle with apple and sauerkraut while my partner went for the "tofu steak and eggs" on the kimchee rice (like a bibimbap).... Most of our dinner conversation was dispersed with "omg, this is so good!" So good, I joked about them adding MSG! The portions were fair and filling for the price, but not so much we didn't have any room to try their dessert... omg, again... they didn't mention the chili spiced chocolate cake melted in your mouth because it is SERVED HOT! (like a chocolate lava cake) We will be returning and definitely suggesting it to friends!

You'll need a car to get to the Good Fork but it's worth the trip. It's one of those charming, off the beaten path places that adventurous diners and travelers love to find. It's romantic and quirkly at the same time. Best of all is the great food and service. This is a chef-owned restaurant and the attention put into the food really slows. I've always had a great meal and great service here. Highly recommend !

Comfort food with fresh, seasonal ingredients (produce comes from nearby farm in Red Hook) and a Korean-influenced twist. The crowd, atmosphere and service were super. One of the owners and husband of the chef made the curvy wood ceilings. There were 3 tables of senior citizens sitting alongside Brooklyn hipsters. A really great neighborhood hangout with some seriously good mussels.

Excellent dumplings. Great steak and eggs. Delicious chicken. Wonderful dessert. A little warm in the restaurant but otherwise excellent.

This place is a must try if you're ever in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn. Very inventive dishes that combine classic American cuisine with Italian and Asian flavors. The hangar steak and eggs over kimchee rice was absolutely delicious as was the grilled shrimp risotto. The atmosphere is homey and not too loud despite the fact that the restaurant was quite packed. There's also a table with a record player that you can operate but I would probably only recommend that for an evening with a cool breeze because it can get a little warm in that room. Overall, a great find and a great value!

The atmosphere, the drinks, the appetizers, the main meal and the desserts all make for a complete dining adventure. These folks have all the bases covered. I am a sucker for the Korean style steak and eggs. And their signature drinks are so tasty, it's hard not to order a second one. Which I happily do.

We returned a long time after our last visit, and it was even better than before. Of course we had the dumplings, and they were terrific. Our mains were just as wonderful.

When I mentioned my impending visit to IKEA in Red Hook to an old friend with whom I was dining, he suggested I try this restaurant in a neighborhood without easy subway access. Immediately upon entering we felt good vibes, from the lovely wooden paneled wall curving up to the ceiling, to the comfortable array of tables and seating for about 25 in the principal dining room. A room for another 15 was located beyond the kitchen. Our waiter made us feel like guests, not customers, and his evident enthusiasm for the creations of the chef was contagious. We started with five plump, dumplings, with tender, almost gossamer wrapping and a stuffing of succulent pork and chives. The fragrant aroma of spices complemented rather than overwhelmed the dish. Next came a bowl of the special pasta of the evening, maltagliati, perfectly cooked al dente rags dressed with ambrosial sauce redolent of herbs and spices that celebrated a delicious merger of Europe and Asia, reminding us of the tradition that credits Venetian Marco Polo for bringing spaghetti from China to Italy. Finally, the good old American hamburger, grilled perfectly medium rare and juicy, came with delectable kimchi that gave it a delightful Korean accent that made it an intercultural triumph, remote from the CONfusion that often results from self-conscious efforts at "fusion" cuisine. The handcut french fries that accompanied the burger were superb. The restaurant's high standards remained intact with the desserts, a moist, flavorful olive oil cake, with muted sweetness that married well with its olive essence, and a refreshingly light and delicate panna cotta. For beverages, an excellent IPA on tap and a bottle of unique, slightly effervescent, dry Italian rose wine stood up well to the food. The only downer of the evening was our ill-advised order of rye Old Fahions for after dinner drinks, which turned out to be an expensive but unsatsifying detour, with the whiskey overpowered by what appeared to be lemon.

On a recent visit to the Brooklyn area, on a rainy, chilly evening my wife and I were looking for comfy & satisfying dinner and The Good Fork hit on all marks. It was quite a charming, little oasis and provided warm & gracious hospitality and very satisfying cuisine. We nearly were going to just have appetizers as they looked so yummy, but upon seeing that they offered a Berkshire pork on the menu, we shared this also. Prices were quite fair, beverage offerings were satisfying and yes, we'd go back in a heart beat when we are in the area again.

The breakfast sandwiches are delicious with croissant-like bread sweet maple bacon, egg, and spiced pepper, it's balance flavor hit the spot. The clam-digger is tasty, essentially a bloody marry with salty clam juice. The interior is mellow with a relaxed feel, well done without trying hard.

To celebrate my husbands 50th birthday we did the Brooklyn Spirits Trail . We started at The Good Fork! The food and staff were wonderful! I will be returning very soon!

Way off the beaten path but worth it.

This is a real winner. Though off the beaten path (you definitely need to drive or take a taxi), it is so worth the trip. The food is wonderful farm-to-table, but incredibly inventive. Also, the service is great, especially the attention paid by the host Ben. Go go go!

This is not an obvious place for tourists to visit but we went with some locals and the trip was worth it. The area of red hook is certainly on the up but still holds a very different vibe to the more familiar parts of NYC. There is good fusion cooking on show and the staff are very friendly.

Neighborhood favorite

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn. Great atmosphere, attentive service, and absolutely delicious food. HIghly recommend the pork dumplings, hamburger and onion rings, any fish dish, and most of all the steak and eggs over kimchi rice- SO GOOD!!! Outdoor garden is very nice too.

Soooo great, killer friendly, no attitude. The best breakfast sandwich ever. Good coffee. Yummy French toast....went twice this month with son and lovely wifey!
