MG, the Reviews Were SPOT ON!!!

By Rick W |

My wife and I were on a 7-Day Business/Anniversary trip to LA. The first couple of days were spent taking in the typical Hollywood sights, and we looked for a good place for Breakfast. We tried to get into The Griddle on Sunday, but the line was way too long. We tried again on Monday and met with success. I've gotta say, we weren't quite prepared for what we found. We were seated right away by a very friendly hostess. The menu was a bit overwhelming, but my wife decided on the Good Old Fashioned pancakes, and I got the Omelette My Soul with Shrimp stuffing. Even though we hadn't eaten in nearly 20 hours we were knocked over by what was delivered. The pancakes were absolutely the diameter of a basketball. No lie!!! She could barely eat one of them, and they brought her three!!! My omelette was OUTRAGEOUS as well!!! TONS of shrimp inside, with a massive amount of green chiles and mushrooms. OFF THE CHARTS Good!!! Look, if you're looking for a place to feed you GREAT FOOD and enough of it to last a couple of days, The Griddle Cafe is the place to go!!!

Family size pancakes đŸ„ž

By aslHelen |

Grab a few friends and head out to Hollywood for a pancake experience you’all never forget! Yes there is always a line (longer on the weekends) but totally worth the wait! A great selection of flavor combinations, each stack of three fully fills a standard plate and topped with a generous amount of whipped butter or sweet cream cheese. Even if you bring your appetite you will still be taking leftovers home.

Popular & Easy To See Why

By Trev_and_Kath |

Be prepared to wait for a table. Be prepared to think that the wait was worth it. We had breakfast on 2 occasions here and both times sat outside as the inside always always full. They actually have a queue line arranged for customers. The menu is easy to follow and provides all you could want. Service is smooth, friendly and efficient. The food is delicious and served with minimal wait (especially considering the number of clients). For any English readers, beware of portion sizes! It’s not an expensive place, but I guarantee a take out box will be needed. We’d recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Giant pancakes!

By Marta C |

Nice experience for our first breakfast in America! Divide because the portions are truly gigantic. However, we expected a little more from the eggs!

Fabulous Breakfast

By Sam R |

We enjoyed our breakfast here. It's known for its pancakes, a standard order is 3 but knowing that pancakes in the US can be side plate sized I always ask there size before committing, upon hearing that they are about 12" /30cm across I went for a single Raspberry and Lemon, there was also the option to have a short stack (x2). My single huge pancake was delicious. My husband had the french toast which was lovely. He also recommended their coffee which came as a french press (cafetiĂšre) which is unusual in the US. There is free parking at the rear, accessible from N Fairfax Ave.

Hidden gem

By Janet E |

The pancakes are larger than the plate and there are many interesting choices. Three of us shared and order of Scotch on the Rocks pancakes (butterscotch chips, coconut and pecans). and an omelet. We had so much left over we had break fast for 2 more days. Now we're back in Chicago but I can't stop thinking about their breakfast. There is so much more I want to try.

Huge Pancakes and So Tasty

By elizabethlascheid |

The Griddle Cafe on Sunset is always crowded. If you are in a hurry, stay away. Once it opens in the morning, about 8 am, the line starts to form. By 10:00 am you will be waiting about an hour, outside in a line, to be seated. We try to get there the moment they open. I don't care for lines in the sun. You can eat indoors or out. The place is super cute but very small, hence the long lines. There is counter seating a couple of booths and tables and chairs. The place is kept quite clean. The service is very nice. It is not the best I have ever had, but the food makes up for any lag in service. It just depends on how busy your server is, I guess. They are very nice and they know their menu, which is large. All of the food is great. They are known for their huge pancakes and they have a variety. Order just one, it takes up the size of the plate, or you will never finish it. They have a super Eggs Benedict and we also love their tuna melts. Their fries are just okay. The coffee is French Press and is strong and good. Have some. The Griddle Cafe has great offerings for breakfast and lunch. All of it is good and you will be happy. Have fun.

nice one

Nice cafe with sooo yammy sweets , that I took some extra weight those days :D . Prices are also good

Hidden Gem

By Fran C |

I was told to visit this restaurant by a couple of my clients. They eat there a few times a year while visiting their son. The Griddle Cafe is tucked into a strip center on Sunset Blvd. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and it's not much better on the inside. However, the food did not disappoint! The pancakes are so large that they hang off the all edges of the plate. They come in stacks of 3, but you can get just 1, if you wish. My companians had 2 different types of pancakes which we all tasted. They were delicious, but very sweet! I had the french toast, as had been recommended by my clients. The two pieces of bread were close to 2" thick and took up the whole plate! It was delicious, but I couldn't even finish 1 piece. I recommend visiting with a friend and sharing a dish. The food is good, but the sizes are ridiculous! I would definitely go back!

Mother of All Pancakes

By Braszman |

An old friend and Hollywood resident took me for brunch. An inspired choice. A short wait for us. By the time we left the restaurant the line was half way down the block. Everything on the menu looked great but you come here for pancakes made by wizards in the kitchen. At my friend's recommendation we shared a "Golden Ticket". After some coffee, juice and some delicious chorizo sausage out comes this "Mother of All Pancakes". Two or 3 magnificent pancakes, stacked a foot wide and 4 inches tall. Fluffy and loaded with banana, caramel, whipped cream and some sort of golden crunchy goodness. I watched some of the other entrees being carried out. This was no fluke. This was just amazing. I've got business in LA later this month and I will go back there.

LOUSY SERVICE

By gregw561966 |

I drove from Fontana to this place today. Upon arriving, I was told that the wait would be 20-30m, after 1h10m I walked out. I told the hostess of our experience and that I would be doing a review, her response was " do a review if you want to. This was a waste of time, and needless to say, I won't be returning.

Good, but wouldn’t go again

By poohneller |

Parties of two have a third of the weight time at this restaurant. We waited 35 minutes to get in, but another 45 after seated before our food arrived. I was beyond hungry at that point. I love bananas, so I ordered the Golden Ticket. To much banana for me which is saying a lot! Daughter had Selfie on Sunset. I liked it better, but it was super sweet. Hubby had Hear Me Roar which he said was good. Portions are huge....such a waste of food! We couldn’t do leftovers as we weren’t heading back to the hotel. Seriously, one order would easily feels 3 or 4 hungry people....if you can decide on one flavor (and that is a big IF!).

It's ok

By mysterioustraveler90 |

Nothing special. The lines are insane. It's slightly better than Denny's, with a much longer wait time.

Still a bad experience so most probably the last one

By okbsh |

Again we tried the griddle cafe to see if this experience would be better than last time as the pancakes are really good . Unfortunately once again the culinary experience is spoiled by the service and the temperature inside ( still freezing ) As to the staff you are explained although you enter number 2 in the cafe that it’s normal that the 15 party that came after are served before you
. Inefficient staff

Brilliant

By ChrisMcP |

Great food, Great service. Pancakes are ridiculous in size but very tasty but everything else on the menu is wonderful too.

Unbelievable Breakfast

By Mansi K |

Magnum portions, out of this world pancakes, simply amazing food and quality. Might have to wait for the table but it is totally worth it

The Great Griddle

By OakRidge_NC_Traveler |

If you came for nothing but "Mom's French Toast" you would be making a good decision. We read the reviews and were not disappointed at all. My family went during the week in the late morning. We five were seated right away. Our order consisted of the aforementioned French toast along with its Nutella stuffed sibling. Our other items included the blueberry pancakes, perfectly cooked bacon, freshly squeezed OJ, and French pressed coffee. Uniformly excellent and simply massive portions. In fact we took most of the pancakes and the Nutella French toast back to our AirBNB and ate them as part of our breakfast for the next couple of days. It was not cheap-something just north of $100 for the five of us-but amazingly good and completely filling.

Not The Healthiest Option But They Are Willing To Try

By Kebablover |

Yep, we followed the crowds. It is worth the experience. My wife is a bit of a health freak (sorry sweetheart) she managed to get a great looking plate of healthy food. I went half way by ordering a small portion of the pancakes. There is no way anyone can eat the 3 that constitutes a normal order. SHARE!!!! Its more than enough for two big appetites. Dont forget to take a look in the kitchen. How do they keep going at that rate?

Quantity over Quality NOT WORTH IT

By Elizabeth Z |

This place is not worth the good reviews, people are appreciating quantity over quality and this is what the place is, the food is not worth the wait, believe it, unless you want just to eat without the good quality, go ahead and eat here. Worst eggs I've ever tried. Seriously I don't understand why they ever put eggs in the menu when they do not know how to make them, The pancakes are good, very creative and huge (which seems to be the style people like in the US), even though we order a single they charged us almost as if we ate a full-stack. Anyways, the eggs are just a mix between flour and some low-quality eggs, omelets are plain and terrible, no flavor at all, this place just delivers quantity but Not quality, how come an omelet had everything on the side? Also, the "scrambled" eggs looked terrible and were served with "green chilies" from a can! horrible food, DO not order another thing than pancakes in this place, other options are just not worth it.

Unpleasant people work here.

By Pete |

Parked near the cafe and was greeted by a strange small man saying ‘pay me 8 dollars’ as his introduction. It seemed he wanted to move my car from the space to charge me a valet fee and was really rude in the process. Went to a better place with better staff instead. That fight to scam 8 dollars cost the restaurant at least $100 + our future visits + whoever is warned off that they’ll be targeted for cash demands when they arrive.

Full Experience

By MichaelN66 |

Showed up early and just beat the line. This place has an Old Fashioned Diner Vibe with a new spin. Trendy , including good music ( that could be turned down in volume just a bit) welcomes you along with a cool brick wall and the smell of good food. I ordered a basic stack!! My fellow diner ordered a stack to split between 4. He was the wiser. The food was delicious and overwhelming. The coffee good and the service prompt and courteous and prices were fair . So with atmosphere, service, food quality and certainly quantity you could have rolled us out having enjoyed the FULL experience. I will be back again, and again.

Great Place for Breakfast

By Richard Stewart |

We arrived around 10:15 am and even though it was busy we only had to wait a couple of minute for a tables. Pancakes looked amazing but far too big for one person, people were taking left overs with them or sharing with someone else. I had cheese omelette which was delicious and just enough to keep me going.

Very big pancakes

By Julkaslaw |

Had blueberry pancakes for breakfast. You get 3 of them, byt the waitress recommended I take just one because of their size. She was rights, I didn't even manager to eat one whole! Very Good coffee. I recommend this place!

You will need a nap after

By Dana |

If breakfast is your favorite meal, you will love this place. If you have a sweet tooth you will LOVE this place. The catch is that the restaurant is tiny and there is always a long line and there isn't much shade so you will be standing out in the sun on the sidewalk for a bit. You can buy sunscreen next door at Rite Aid, though! I always need a nap after I eat here as the food is very heavy.

Yummy for Burgers too!

By MrsRussell805 |

we parked a block up and had a little difficulty with the meter, there's no parking/no stopping between 4:00 pm and I think 8:00 pm, however I asked one of the waitstaff and it turns out there's a parking lot and back entrance which is very convenient for L.A. it took a while for service but only because there were 3 large parties that had arrived just before we did. The waitress was an absolute doll. My husband ordered a burger off the menu and I ordered a Pure Imagination which you choose your own toppings. The burger comes with fries or fruit, we both choose fries, the burgers were delicious, and they had a great assortment of hot sauces to add. We loved it. The only down side was when we paid with credit card it took a really long time to process, because they use a DSL internet connection. which I thought was a little weird. Definitely a great family, couples, or friends destination. We plan on coming back next time we're in the area.

Disastrous

By okbsh |

We went for breakfast as we went to this restaurant before. The food is certainly fine but unfortunately the attitude of people is questionable to say the least and the air conditioning is blowing so strongly that it is impossible to enjoy having breakfast . The guy at entrance basically treat you very rudely in a take it or leave it attitude and then when you complain 3 times about the cold blowing on your face they could not care less . So in a nutshell if you want to get a cold while having pancakes this is the place to go

Go on an empty stomach and with a friend

By Dee |

I know that America is known for our large portions but I truly have never seen anything like this. It is not possible for one human being to eat this at all. Let alone in one sitting. I do not know how this restaurant has not ended up on some version of Man VS. Food. Portions aside, this is actually a really delicious breakfast. The coffee was good, the staff was kind. It's clearly an old place but has maintained all its charm and the portions and the price are great. One thing I can guarantee is you will have leftovers

Excellent everything

By Gary |

Wonderful breakfast spot that I absolutely recommend . Great service, pancakes were top notch. Huge portions. Best guacamole I have ever had.

The pancakes here are SO BIG.

By AmyD5 |

The pancakes here are SO BIG. Like massive! Go hungry because you won’t be able to finish them. But they’re totally awesome, the yummiest I’ve ever tasted. Simple pancakes the way they should be and fab coffee. Just a shame to waste so much! But omg, go here for authentic pancakes. Brilliant. Loads of choices. Great service and a hidden gem, recommended by a friend. 100% worth going!

Skip this place

By JJohnson |

Horrible service!! Waitress was texting instead of checking our table! When I asked for a manager they told me that there was not a manager on site...this place does NOT let you do substitutions and its overpriced. Just skip this place.

Excellent

By Graham P |

Excellent pancakes and breakfast options! Exceptionally tasty pancakes; ham was also requested. We enjoyed the food, the drinks, and definitely the ambiance!

Excellent breakfast spot

By Jeremy M |

We tried TGC on a whim and are happy we did. The pancakes were YUGE! I recommend only ordering 1 pancake unless you are really hungry.

Amazing

By Kladija D |

Food and portions were amazing. Only one order of pancake needed. Good comfort food. It’s a small diner but the customer service and atmosphere was nice.

Great food huge servings!!

By Mikailia R |

I would definitely recommend!!! This is not a place you go to only once the menu is huge!!!! And you will wanna try everything!! Come hungry they give a lot of food md be prepared to wait in line but it’s soooo worth it !!

Delicious. Oversized. America.

By Oscar A |

Beware! Order one pancake you will not finish them all😅😅. If you order pancakes do not order any other food. You won't finish any of it. The french pressed coffee was delicious though and I did finish that.

American Breakfast đŸ„ž

By Cristina GarcĂa |

Came here looking for an all American classic breakfast and for those massive pancakes you see on the pictures they have!!! Tried the chocolate french toast and it was massive (in a good way) and yummy as well. A guy sitting next to me ordered blueberry pancakes, the classic french toast and some kind of eggs. He said you can’t go wrong with anything that’s on the menu - and that’s probably true!

Negative Calories on everything

By Marlon Elias |

Likes: - The portion size is worth it. - The price is reasonable. - The food is great. - You can call for pick up. Dislikes: - They don't have WiFi. - They close early at 4pm. - The can't do online delivery like Grubhub or Postmates etc. Overall I like it. There is always room for improvements and I highly recommend it if ever you guys visited Los Angeles. I will definitely come back to this place whenever I visit Los Angeles.

WOW!

By Brittany Waters |

I knew just by looking at the reviews and photos this place wasn't going to let me down. The only downside to this place is picking a flavor, and then not being able to conquer that delicious pancake alone. My son is an oreo lover so he of course ordered the black magic. My husband and I opted for the golden ticket. They were both so damn good. The service was great as well. Not the healthiest way to start your day but definitely a tasty way ha. They do validate parking for the lot in the back. Highly recommended if your a pancake lover like us.

Enormous portions!

By TrueReview |

This is a unique breakfast and lunch diner with gourmet pancakes galore! The portions are massive and come in many decadent flavor combos. I used to have Sunday brunch there with 3 friends and share one plate. They have a good selection of teas that come in little seeping pots, too. Expect a wait on weekends.

Best breakfast I’ve ever had!

By Audrey N |

Wow! This place is a must for breakfast lovers like myself! We were lucky enough to get there early and not have a wait, but it would’ve been worth the wait. We started with mimosas and the French press coffee, both absolutely amazing! Three of us shared the eggs Benedict with avocado, Nutella stuffed French toast, the the peanut butter crunch caramel banana pancakes.. way more than enough food but we were determined to try it all. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS! We couldn’t stop eating even though we were beyond stuffed. Highly recommend grabbing breakfast here!

Pancake Day

By leagirl12 |

You can't go wrong with choosing to have breakfast here. We were lucky enough to not have to have a wait and the staff was very friendly. The pancakes are amazing and HUGE! When you order, specify just one pancake. We didn't realize until we were leaving that you could order just one. A normal order was 3 pancakes. Trust me one is plenty. The flavors are great!!

Service was the worse we expirenced in America

By keithx1 |

All i can say is make sure you go with a star of some form because you will need it to get past the ques. This places services sucks big time. We waited for 20 minuites to get a table to be told to sit in the street next to the que and I mean next to the que IE every one in the que is now part of your breakfast it was like being a exhibit at the zoo. We sat there being a examined by the people in the que for well over 10 minuites no one came to the table. The whole expirance was a bloody disgrace we walked away in the end as no one turned up to serve us. Horrible Horrible experience wood never try again

Disappointed ..too much food

By sue |

The pancakes were good but for people who have not been there..way to much food. They should really show on menu pancakes feed four. I hate throwing away food ...pancakes after sitting with whipped cream on them will not reheat well...I packaged them and ended up telling them to keep. This is very wasteful. They cannot handle adjustments to menu well. Then a second waitress took over our table and seemed miffed when I paid our waiter instead of her the tip. Loud..way too much food. Pricey... Will not return or recommend.

What a fun place for breakfast

By eurohandsofsteel |

Big portions and great food to be had. On the weekends is a big line to get in. If you are by yourself you can always get a counter seat.

HUGE pancakes!!!

By Deb H |

Nice atmosphere, ample seating and got great parking right out front. Service was helpful and friendly but not super fast, waited quite a while. Pancakes are HUGE!! Delicious and great selection, but only go here if you are really hungry!! Two of us barely got through one of these pancakes. o kids menu or smaller portions available.

Loud and funny

By Annette L |

Loud, personal, funny with gigantic pancake-meals! I'd go again if I lived closer. Loud music and talking, but if you're in for something that feels authentic and like the pulse of LA, it's more than OK!

Great breakfast

By Giorgos S |

Amazing dishes, great service, huge pancakes. Overall you come for the pancakes but you return for the egg dishes.

French toast is a must!

By Emily991 |

The portion of pancake is enough for 4 persons in my hometown. Really enjoy the french toast sooooo much!

Overrated

By Tallgirl1984 |

Our Uber driver said this was one of the best places to go. Waited over and hour in the line. Menu is large. Portions are larger and the quality/taste was average. Sadly nothing special or exciting. My pancake were actually quite dry. Our waiter was not overly enthusiastic. My sprite was mostly ice so had to have like 3 glasses to actually get some juice. Pretty disappointed and with all the other places in LA to go I wouldn’t waste my time going there.

Amazing breakfast spot

By DaniElle |

What else should I say? Absolutely amazing pancakes and egg dishes. You‘ll get a lot for a reasonable price.

Great spot for lunch as well as breakfast

By SilverSpringer |

I read reviews before we arrived and they were very helpful. Portion sizes are huge-saw the giant servings of the three plate-sized pancakes. Lunch portions are also large and great- the tuna melt and shrimp blt were very tasty. We also followed advice to park ar rite aid parking lot and come in back entrance. We arrived at 130 pm so no waiting for tables. Sandwich with a ton of fries was about $14, next time we would get one sandwich with fruit instead. Highly recommended!

HUGE portions, go early

By fastrada |

They don't tell you this on the menu, but, if you want the pancakes, you can order just one pancake, or two. The usual portion size is 3 pancakes; I ordered one and did not even finish that! I ordered the Bailey's and Kahlua pancake and it had actual booze in the whipped cream on top. We got there shortly after it opened on a Sunday morning and were seated right away but the line formed pretty quickly after that; we may have been the last ones to walk right in and sit down.

Good food

By Zhoshua E |

Wonderful views, 10/10 decor and great food! This cafe has arguably the best location of any restaurant in LA. You probably will have to wait 2 hours+ but it is worth it. Make sure to get the pancakes because the portions are huge. The staff are lovely too. I strongly recommend this place for brunch!

BIG ASS PANCAKES BUT THEY ARE DELICIOUS!

By D'Yahna B |

This place was so damn good! the pancakes are larger than most. Mom's french toast is just as good! Their bfast nachos are amazing!

Typically large American Breakfast here

By Sarah B |

Five of us visited at the end of July 2018. Our family member took us here to experience a typically large American breakfast, and it certainly was. It took a while to be seated, as do not take reservations, and it was very busy. I reckon on balance it was worth the wait. Looking around at what other diners were having, it seemed that the pancakes stack was huge with people looking physically in pain while trying to eat them all! They were impressive but also excessive. Due to this, non of our group opted for the pancakes. I had eggs with smoked salmon, a bagel, cream cheese etc, and it was delicious and a good size. The French toast was a little soggier that I would have liked, but it was still tasty. The staff were quick at getting orders taken, but a little slow at delivering them. They also did not check for any drink refills. To be fair I’m not really a breakfast fan, so I probably wouldn’t come here again, the rest of my group enjoyed it more though.

Incredible Find

By sogonblick |

The Griddle Cafe is a fantastic place for coffee of all kinds great family fun for everyone. If you like club sandwiches this is the place tuna sandwiches tuna melts egg salad sandwiches chicken salad burgers and a variety on the menu Non-Stop. There is ample parking come casual and hungry.. Five ☆☆☆☆☆ Star Rating..

OMG

By addie b |

The pancakes were gigantic! The breakfast was what we expected. You definitely cannot finish the whole thing. I had the Oreo pancakes so the kids and it was delicious. There's definitely nothing fancy about the place but it's worth going just to try out. The only thing that I would suggest is for the restaurant to definitely make it very clear to sign your name first before you stand on line. I stood online for about 20 minutes before I realized I had to do that and it pushed my wait time back. I will definitely go back when I'm in town

Huge!! Tasty!! Affordable!!

By 11naomi |

Was recommended by a friend to try this place and our tour guide and were we wowed the breakfast was delicious and the pancakes are just a whole nothter level huge, you really just need to order 1 for a family of 5

Awesome

By A_consultant_abroad |

My wife and i were so impressed that we ate breakfast here everyday of our three day stay in West Hollywood. Food and service is on another level. Well done!

Great food good service

By Rene M |

The wait is pretty long 45m-1hr. But the food is really good i ordered the nutella stuffed French toast, and my wife the Chicago Charlie scramble . They both were really good the portions are really generous. And the service was great and friendly our waitress was Lauren.

Unforgettable

By tatanatalia2 |

Best huge fluffy delicious pancakes. 3 years after im remembering that day. My friends and I went out full and super happy. One order fill 4 people, but try at least 2 :) when in Los Angeles again i will go back for sure!

How to choose? Pancakes, pancakes and more pancakes...

By struncla |

Looks like a bit of a dive on the outside but the place was bustling inside. Endless choices of pancakes with serving sizes that overlapped a typical dinner plate. You can order a stack of 3 or just single pancake for tasting. My 10 year old daughter and I each picked 1 different pancake "flavor" and share some eggs on the side. We barely made it through 1/2 the cake. Food was good and worth the experience if you have kids.

Great food

By Christian M |

Monster breakfast. Very interesting twist on an Eggs Benedict. Lots of people and a bit noisy. Ignored the crowd and super enjoyed the food.

Yummy Breakfasts!

By Heidi D |

We tried the Griddle Cafe due to the many positive Tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. There were many breakfast options to choose from, and all we tried was good. Really enjoyed my scramble with eggs and avocado, and my husband loved his Red Velvet pancake. There was a wait, and we were seated at the counter. I rated the restaurant lower as we were not asked whether this was ok or given an option to wait. The seats were close together, and a few of our neighbors not what who we'd choose to sit near. Service was leisurely, which was ok.

Biggest pancakes ever!

By emma r |

We came here for an all American breakfast experience , and we were not disappointed! The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful! Tap water was provided on arrival, and shortly afterwards we were offered coffee. The menu was extensive, featuring a wide range of pancakes, French toast, eggs and more! The portion sizes were absolutely huge - more than enough food, and they even let you take home the leftovers if you want! We felt relaxed, welcome and comfortable at all times - would really recommend eating at the counter! 10/10 would recommend!!

Start your day here!

By Tyu L |

Great atmosphere for the morning, but most importantly the food was insanely good. DELICIOUS pancakes and omelettes. The service here is very good and according to prices is mid-range.

Fantastic food and service

By Silas B |

We ordered French toast and Pancake as well. Both of them were fantastic. The service was quick and attentive, our server was wonderful. The prices were moderate and portion were decent size. The cool and relaxed ambiance was adding to the whole dinning experience.

Horrible

By Samiya B |

If I could give it 0 stars I would! Horrible customer service, I didn’t even get a chance to order food.

5+ stars if only no wait

By Sarah W |

Devils’ food French toast and any pancake on the menu would leave you spellbound. The portions are outrageous in the best way but how the dishes tastes is what will blow you away. It is worth the wait. Worth the cluster and traffic and parking etc. highly recommend.

Be sure to share

By The Browns |

Yesterday my wife and I went to Griddle cafe. We both had pancakes which were massive, we both ate around 30% of what we were served. If possible make sure you sit inside, we felt forgotten outside on a table. We queued for 30 minutes to get in, then after being seated it was another 40 minute wait for food.

Great food, loud/ noisy restaurant !

By Fani Giwa |

The food was delicious, very big portions specially the pancakes. Different flavors of pancakes offered. Lots of people taking to-go boxes. Very, very busy and tight space, very loud with noise/ music. Can hardly talk and hear the other person next to you. There are about 2 tables in the patio for seating. Highly recommend as food was one of a kind and delicious but beware of the wait, finding parking and loud noise and minimum space.

Wow, biggest pancakes I've ever seen

By pdm66 |

Lovely Cafe, the Pancakes are so big, to be fair one would feed two people, but where would the fun be in that! Queues are long for this place, so get there early and be prepared to wait, its worth it. The prices are reasonable, especially when you think you won't need to eat for the rest of the day.

The best pancakes in LA

By Tom |

I visited this place whilst on vacation from the UK. I had Googled the best pancakes in Los Angeles and this was consistently top of the list and it did not disappoint! I had the chocolate pancakes which were absolutely incredible. VERY filling so be sure to arrive hungry.

Pancakes are too damn big...

By 38enso |

This is tasty. I recommend it. Service good. Prices good. But an order of pancakes serves at least four people. They didn’t warn us when we ordered and it felt like we wasted a lot. Go, it’s a good meal but the portions are ridiculously large.

Family summer vacation

By Wizeone23 |

The food was excellent the service was excellent I would recommend this restaurant for brunch. The portions are large as you can see. Come hungry.

I dream of the pancakes!

By Attorney Day |

We were told to visit the griddle first thing on a Sunday and we did just that arriving 15 min before it opened and the first ones in line. The place gets widely busy so I recommend going when it first opens. (when we left the line was rediculous). Portion sizes are gigantic, but unlike some chains that sacrifice food portions for flavor, it truly was one of the best pancakes I've ever had in my life. I highly recommend the banana it was a very flavorful moist fluffy pancake with carmalized bananas in the batter not slathered on top as an afterthought. Their house syrup was equally delicious. Service was amazing and we left full and satisfied. Portions are easily shared. I would not hesitate to visit again! I dream of how delicious that pancake was! Sundays are buy 1 get 1 mimosas which were nice.

A taste worth the line-up

By Katherine H |

First- the pancakes are huge. HUGE. Each easily a foot in diameter they come as a stack of three. Upon seeing them it was clear this was not something to order for one, but to split between several. On your own their are several other options- I had excellent french toast and bacon that I would go back for again. The line was not a long wait and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Great spot!

Good service average food

Service was very good, food was average . Had tacos a d they were not the best .for arrived fast , place not very clean , a bit noisy

Super food good take away!

By MaloneFrank. |

The food was delicious, very large portions especially the pancakes. Different flavors of pancakes offered and good looking. Many people carry take-out boxes. Very crowded and narrow wide space, very loud with noise / music. You can barely speak and hear the other person next to you. I highly recommend it as the food was one of a kind and delicious but beware of waiting, searching for parking and loud noise and minimal space. We will be back soon maybe with headphones.

SO GOOD!!!

By WBJM2009 |

We ate at the Yamashiro location and it was excellent! We arrived right when they opened (highly recommended because they get very busy and the line gets long). Food was so good and the view was beautiful. Staff was attentive and friendly. We will definitely return!! Outside seating.

BIG Buttermilk Disappointment

By Brian M |

Full disclosure: I was a bit hungover last Saturday morning at The Griddle. Within half an hour of opening, almost every seat was filled—tables, sidewalk and counter. I'm not huge, but felt squeezed at the counter. Music was BLARING from overhead speakers. A full stack (3) of basic buttermilk pancakes is $12; I got a short stack (2) for $10. You can also order just one. I should have: they were truly bigger than the plate, but so dry I could only stomach one-fourth. I tried to wet 'em down with maple syrup from the bottle on the table, but it didn't help; besides, I prefer my syrup heated. More butter might have worked. Maybe the frog-frou pancakes and waffles with all the fixin's are moister. The coffee ($5 per person) comes in French-press pots, which produce a mediocre brew that's murky with sediment. At least the waitress was very pleasant and refilled my water tumbler without being asked.

What an awesome place

By jezabel76 |

The food was delicious!! French toast was phenomenal!! I also got the eggs benedict, the sauce was to die for.

You need to share

By Jim611 |

portions are really huge, I mean big time huge, that you absolutely need to share. It is a nice place to try once. I am nit sure I'd go over and over :)

5 pound pancakes

By Alexa B |

Our first day in LA we decided to go to the Griddle Cafe for breakfast. The staff was very friendly and the food was very tasty. I would suggest if you order a specialty pancake to only get one as I had leftovers for days and barely made a dent with my order of two pancakes. I would suggest ordering "Mounds of Pleasure" if you enjoy the taste of coconut. Decently priced for the amount of food you get.

Huge rations

By irerg |

We tried their pancakes and they were TASTY!! the dishes are huge, better to order to share if you don't want more than half the dish, highly recommended breakfast place, our best breakfast in Los Angeles was here

HUGE and DELICIOUS panckages

By Yoana |

We came on a Sunday at noon and there was a line (45 minute wait) which was expected based on previous reviews. The food is delicious and you receive HUGE portions. I ordered the Black Magic Pancakes (Oreo pancakes). I received 3 HUGE portions and were impossible to eat by myself. The french toast are also huge and delicious. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND for you to give it a try.

So good!!! Loved it!

By DrCDB |

Food its just delicious! The size of the portions is great as well. We went two days in a row to have lunch and breakfast. We tried the hamburgers, the eggs and of course the MASSIVE PANCAKES! so good and delicious. We really loved it. A must when in L.A.

Most Amazing Breakfast

By Dennancy |

Never saw such a pancake!!! My son had scotch on the rocks. A pancake withcoconut, pecans, oat and butterscotch chips, with whipped cream and powdered sugar. It was heaven on a plate!! Every bite delectible and enough for five people. I had" Poached y Papas "Benedict. The best eggs benedict I've ever had! It was baked ham and eggs on top of potato skins with hollandaise sauce. So delectible!!My husband had Hash It Out,Which was corned beef hash with eggs, It was homemade hash not the can stuff, with big chunks of corned beef and potatoes....so good!! I can understand why there is a line to get into the restaurant. It is so unique and food is awesome!!

Loved the Music but not during breakfast

By Lakiesha M |

I’m probably not used to the LA life. But we waited in line for over 30 minutes to be seated. When inside the place is cramped with just enough space for the staff to maneuver through the tables. Once inside, I was not expecting the dark mysterious atmosphere, the loud blues music (which I actually enjoyed) or the humongous pancakes. The pancakes were good. My bacon was undercooked we returned it to be replaced with well done bacon only to not get it back and it wasn’t removed from the bill. I had to go across the street to the coffee house and buy a coffee to use the bathroom because the bathroom at the Griddle Cafe was dark and even in the dark I could tell it needed some attention. The food was not pricey for the large sized pancakes but I wouldn’t visit again. It’s probably too trendy for me. I am thankful for the wait because while in line we searched for other places to eat and that’s how we found Norms.

Long wait; no coffee and no one cares

By Stacie |

The Griddle at the Yamashiro is in a very cool setting but be prepared to wait with NO coffee available to order while you wait. Do a big customer service bonus; serve some coffee while people wait an hour in the cold!!

The BEST breakfasts

By Paul Gillingham |

Hands down, the best place I’ve ever gone for breakfast. The portion sizes are insane but the quality of food is outstanding. I went here for 3/4 mornings and would eat here every day if I could.

Out of this world pancakes!

By Evans1988 |

Delicious, fresh, gigantic pancakes. If you love pancakes this is your place! We ordered the oreo pancakes, blueberry pancakes and original pancakes. I suggest you share an order for 3 people. Large portions.

Great views in the hills with yummy food and sunny sjies!

By bannana_red |

Food was very fresjh, Overly generous portions. Ambiance is the best. The wait time is not fun, but everyone is willing to wait for the yummy goodness of this plave. Pancakes are extremely big and delicious. The small salad was not small and so fresh. Shrimp tacos are on the much higher end in taste. Taste is excellent My only complaint is the bathroom. There is not a changing table for babies. Luckily my son is in pull-ups. I cant wait to come back. 😍😍

Great place-if you can wait.

By Carol S |

I love the food and vibe. I hate the wait. Might want a snack before you go as the line is Long! Once you are seated the delicious food is the best!

Interesting place!!!

By Skyruby |

Humongous portions of pancakes, waffles, omelettes and other breakfast favorites, it’s an icon in Hollywood and you should definitely try! don’t expect amazing service or anything fancy but it is definitely different and worth visiting. Some days there is a huge line outside so prepare to wait.

Great breakfast

By Loockey |

Great breakfast, fantastic pancakes, portions far too big for normal people and very good service at decent price level. Very worth trying!!!

Hits the spot

By Bumble-Brig |

Hit this place up on a Sat early afternoon. 25 min wait in the shade-not bad we have seen this line much longer. We order apple pork sausage, over easy eggs , bacon, scramble eggs and the good ol fashion pancakes. Food came out in a reasonable time. The pancakes are HUGE! So huge that the people sitting next to us offered to split the pancakes with us. We all ended up eating together and enjoyed everything that came to the table. Good place for breakfast or late breakfast. You get locals and tourist which makes for great conversation. If you are in LA try to make it here!

Go early to avoid long wait

By Caroline L |

Came here with friends on a Sunday morning at 8:30 and waited about 15 minutes to be seated. The french press coffee is awesome and the french toast is delicious. We tried the strawberry pancakes but I thought they were average. All of the pancakes here are novelty size and cannot be finished by less than 2 people. My honest opinion is to skip the pancakes and get the french toast or an omelette. When we left the restaurant it was about 9:45 and the line had grown very very long. So get there early to avoid a long wait.

Sunday Brunching

By U Heads |

For brunch we went to “The Griddle Cafe” located at 7916 Sunset Blvd in the city of Hollywood CA 90046 phone number (323) 378-6311. My nephew, D’Artagnan had told me about this spot many years ago. If you want to call and get a table, don’t bother, they do not take reservations it’s first come first serve. Their hours are Wednesday-Sunday 8am-3pm. When we arrived our wait time was approximately 15 minutes. The items of choice were: French-Pressed Coffee with Bailey's Irish Cream Baby (yummy) coffee lovers will truly enjoy. Strawberries and Cream Waffle Topped With Strawberries and Brown Sugar Sour Cream. BLUESberry Pancakes The said You'll Hit The Right Note with 3 Blueberry huge filled Original pancakes that are topped with Blueberry Sour Cream.  They are so big that they flopped over the entire plate. 3 people shared them and could not finish the plate. I was told they were okay but not very flavorful. Eggs with Griddle Potatoes cooked to perfection with cheese, cheese and more cheese. Chicago Charlie Scramble Italian Sausage, Potatoes, Bacon, Bell Peppers, Mozzarella Cheese, Garlic, Basil and lots of Onions and a side of Chicken Breast. Good place to bring the family.

American breakfast!

By maikol77 |

We decided to try the Griddle Cafe after all the wonderful reviews and, although it didn't disappoint us, there was a bittersweet feeling after our breakfast. First of all, we arrived at about 10.30 for breakfast, and although the place was already full, we were lucky enough to find a table, so no waiting in line for us! The interior of the place is not something special, I would say it has a latin american feeling, but the tables are big and the service is fast and efficient. The pancakes are the specialty of this place, and I have to warn you, they are massive and there is no way they can be eaten by one person! They are to share, and that is the reason we didn't order them, because we wanted to try something else from the menu, too (we were only 2 people). I also ordered the Soul omelette made with steak and I had huge expectations of it, but I was not excited after all. The omelette was ok, but the steak had no flavor, perhaps because of the green chiles peppers that were also stuffed with the steak inside the eggs. The chiles were just TOO many, and made me not relish my plate. Finally, the griddle potatoes were just as tasteless. The special avocado sandwich that we also ordered was quite nice, and the french press coffee was very good. Overall, I felt that we ordered wrong plates, but this place has potential and I would give it another chance if I am ever in Sunset blvd again! I had the opportunity to try the sunset scammble which taste like a plate of spices threw together and cooked, not necessarily well blended. The sour dough bread was a great touch to my meal. The french press coffee was a nice touch the medium blend taste a bit blah. Overall I it was an ok experience, and if I'm every back in the area I would definitely give then another shot.

This is what I imagine brunch is like in heaven.

By Ally C |

So much food at a great price! This was our second visit and will continue to be a must-do every future trip to LA. Get there early because you may have a wait! It's well worth it though.

Tourist/diabetes trap

By Scott L |

I mean, really? The leftovers from one breakfast could feed a small village in Africa. A short stack alone will give you diabetes. The pancakes are great but the line is like I’m trying to get into Stufuo 54 in the 80’s. Is It worth It? Not sure yet

Humongous Pancakes

By boncan630 |

We met friends for breakfast here when we visited L.A. with our kiddos. They love this place and apparently visit here every time they come to L.A. There was a wait - the line went out the door and down the block. But we visited with our friends so the time went by pretty quick. The pancakes were HUGE - I'm talking they hang off the sides of the plates. My son ordered the peanut butter crunch french toast and he said it was amazing. I ordered the say cheese omelet and griddle potatoes(awesome), and my husband ordered Mom's French Toast (he loved it). Our waitress was attentive. The food was great - portions big. The restaurant is small, so it gets a little noisy. But we didn't mind it.

Biggest pancakes I've ever seen

By wherelolawent |

A friend from the UK had suggested eating at the Griddle so my friend and I waited in the queue outside for a good 45 minutes on Memorial Day. We were seated at the bar area, which was fine for us, but a bit tricky given how limited the space is when you're right up next to other diners. I ordered the Black Magic Oreo pancakes and didn't realise you could order a single so out came this monster order of pancakes. I LOVE pancakes. As a North American living in the UK, where they still cannot grasp what an American pancake looks like, I was really ready for good ones. I managed 1/8th of my portion despite being starving having just hiked Runyon Canyon. I don't know if I would believe that one person could finish an entire order. They were, however, fantastic and I took about another quarter in a takeaway box. My friend had some sort of omelette that looked really good; she couldn't finished that either. I thought the prices were low given the quality and quantity of the food. That said, the coffee was a bit crap. Be hungry, be prepared to stand in a line.

The best pancakes and the biggest!

By bd3Melbourne |

Ok so think of the size of a dinner plate ... now imagine a pancake that completely covers it - that’s what you get. The thing is yes, they’re huge but they are beyond delicious too! They are fluffy and depending on what you get they have a heavenly caramelised top which is so good. Warning, standard is a stack of three, but you can order one or two if you prefer. You will probably have to wait but it’s worth it!! Great to fuel a day’s walking!

Must go, especially if you're hungry!

By Paul R |

This little place serves the best pancakes and french toast ever. Plus, they are MASSIVE! One order of pancakes can easily feed six people. There will be a line, but it's worth it

The World’s Best Pancakes

By Michael C |

I actually found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. It was close to where we were staying and was ranked high on it’s reviews. It did not disappoint! I had the Yellow Brick Road pancakes. Caramel Butterscotch Walnut pancakes. They may have ruined me for all other pancakes for the rest of my life, they were that good. They were huge and huge over the side of the plate. A friend ask me why I was putting any syrup on them. Because they didn’t need any. I actually did end up putting some syrup on them but not until after I had all ready ate a third of it. Go hungry the portions are large. The service was fast and friendly. The coffee was strong and delicious. If you like pancakes or a great breakfast to start your day, you have to check this place out. I will definitely go back the next time I’m in LA.

Rude and obnoxious Manager

By JK |

I’m assuming the guy on the door was the owner/manager. If he was, he was the worst manager I’ve ever come across. His attitude to us, other customers and his staff was appalling. Our waitress was great though. Based on this guys attitude I would say don’t put any money in this guys pocket. He doesn’t deserve it.

Betcha’ Can’t Eat Just One

By Curt K |

Whille vacationing in Los Angeles, we were treated to breakfast at the Griddle Cafe, the home of oversized pancakes. My wife ordered the Eyes Wide Open and I had the BLUESberry. These were humongous flapjacks that exceeded the size of the plate. I attempted to finish my plate but I had to wave the white flag leaving a small portion of the pancake. These were excellent pancakes with excellent service. I would love to try this again.

Nothing is conventional here, but it tastes really good

By Taylor B |

The Griddle Cafe has been drawing rave reviews since it opened in 1948. I read a review on the internet and immediately jotted the name on my vacation itinerary. Located at 7916 Sunset Boulevard, in Los Angeles' West Hollywood neighborhood, it is open daily from 8 to 3 but specializes in all-day breakfast, which includes French toast any way you like it and large pancakes with 100 percent pure maple syrup from Vermont. I raised some eyebrows when I ordered oatmeal with raisins and brown sugar and Griddle Cafe's version of my favorite breakfast item, Eggs Benedict, with two poached eggs and a thick slice of Canadian bacon on an English muffin topped with the house's special hollandaise sauce and seasoned potato skins. With a bowl of fresh fruit and multigrain toast with strawberry jam. If I could have that breakfast every day for the rest of my life, I will die a happy man.

Share a round of pancakes!

By LatteQueen |

Came as recommended in my tour book and a pod cast that I listen to. Service was quick and efficient, had to queue outside but we were seated quickly, if you have a bigger party you may struggle when it is busier. We saw the size of the pancakes coming out and decided to share but even this defeated us!! They were delicious though. The coffee refills were in cafetiĂšres which was a nice touch and the blend was really good. Such huge portions though and I did feel a bit sad seeing all the food being wasted.

Too much.....

By Fuzzyhunden |

We came on a Monday morning and the place was almost empty. We ordered a plate of Fiesta Scramble, a pancake and Eggs Benedict and it was just way too much food for the three of us. The food tasted nice, but the portions are just sooo big it almost put us off the food. So if you like large portions this is the place for you!

Best pancake breakfast đŸ„ž!!!

By anne_b_1703 |

Best pancake breakfast ever!! This is the place to go for breakfast or brunch. The staff is friendly and the line outside is worth it. Authentic American diner, and humongous staks of pancakes. We will be back!

I love it

By Jennifer J |

I love it. Best Breakfast and huge portions. Very tasty. Long wait and noisy. Great food. Love it and I will be back.

No idea why people line up for this joint

By Travel Addict |

If you want terrible pancakes as big as your head, combined with the worst service in Los Angeles - this is the place. The pancakes make for nice Insta pics, but really you will work out why people dont eat much (its not just the huge pancakes, they are hard to eat)...... The pancakes are not good, Denny's or IHOP do better pancakes. Its easy to do big pancakes topped with sugary stuff from a bottle and lots of cream!! I am dumbfounded by the amount of people that line up for this crap - explains why the wait staff give the worst customer service ever. No maple syrup on my table, took our order - dumped it on our table and never seen again.......no offer of a coffee top up - so we paid over $5 for a little cup of coffee, as no one could be bothered to top us up - preferred to stand in the corner watching their tables, just waiting for a tip for doing sweet f&*k all. No water even given.......we would have asked but all staff avoided us or eye contact so we could ask. Head somewhere else for breakfast - you will get better food and service. Service is so bad you will be ok with not tipping.....

DON'T COME YOU DON'T HAVE TO GIVE YOUR FOOD AND IT TAKES 1 HR TO GET YOUR FOOD

By Marco Antonio H |

From the moment you arrive they make you wait and in our case they moved us to the bar table area which gave us a fan that after 10 minutes I realized I was already freezing, my order never arrived and I had to go to the For 40 minutes I saw that it didn't arrive, the truth is, I was very disappointed in this place, then no one did anything to apologize, it was horrible.

amazing dessert

By Leandro R |

I highly recommend trying dishes that include potatoes, as well as their pancakes—they are a real treat for the taste buds. However, do keep in mind that the restaurant is located in a small building, and during busy times like rush hour on a Saturday, it can get quite noisy. This might make it a bit challenging to have conversations with fellow diners.

Not good anymore.

By Juliebeth12 |

Gone downhill. This used to be our favorite go to breakfast spot. We went today and the quality has changed dramatically. Everything tasted stale and just not good. I will not be returning.

Breakfast Kings!

By Cynthia A |

It was great coming here! Happy with everything. Food was great and the pancakes are enormous! Coffee is also good, fresh squeezed Orange juice is so good.

Worth the wait

By Janette L. |

Came here after a loooong night celebrating a friend's birthday. I was taken aback by the line that formed outside, but it went by fairly quickly. After like 25 minutes we were seated. This breakfast food and a coffee are like a cure for any hangover! I would suggest sharing the pancakes because they are HUGE!!! Wish I would've known how big because I literally chowed down the biggest red velvet pancake i've ever seen in my life. No regrets though!!!

Start off month right

By Svetlana Z |

Good American size portions, good taste. I like this place. Was first time here. Will be back again later.

Bustling Cafe

By Twenty Something Dude |

It’s a busy and loud spot with pretty good breakfast. Price was a little on the high side for what you get in my opinion. Service was so so. I don’t recommend going here if you’re really hungover - the loud ass music and noises would give me major scaries. Also, you could split an order of pancakes with 2 - 3 people.

Ummm...BEST PANCAKE SELECTION EVER!!

By Ladeebug918 |

What an awesome surprise on our Cali vacay! Super reasonably priced breakfast food that has gargantuan portions! The menu is fun and full of exciting combinations. You will not be disappointed! #familyoffive

Freshly-Made Mouth-Watering Golden Ticket

By MyraMiranda |

If I were rating The Griddle based solely on the food it would receive 5 stars. Hands down the most delicious meal I had while vacationing in LA. Unfortunately, my husband and I were ignored for close to 18-20 minutes after the host sat us. You’re probably asking yourself why we didn’t leave. Well, we’d already waited close to an hour to be seated. Which in all fairness was made clear to us when we arrived. The host was very friendly and polite. It looked like she was having to ask/beg several of the waitstaff to take our table. I do understand that it was getting close to 2pm, but it wasn’t our fault that the wait had been so long. Anyway, menu has an array of options. We had plenty of time to decide while waiting. I had a glass of the mimosa with Prosecco, the Golden Ticket, my husband had a Bloody Mary, the Hash and we decided to split an order of the Kicking and Screaming Breakfast Tacos. Let me tell you that it was absolutely worth the wait. Words can’t describe how perfectly cooked my pancakes were. My drink was spot on! My husband liked his food, but agreed my pancakes were better. He was disappointed in the Bloody Mary. He said the Bloody Mary was bland and basic. He mentioned zero seasoning and no spice. You must try out this place!! Too bad the full bar wasn’t available because I was really hoping to try the strawberry daze!

Big portions, delicious food!

By jrol89 |

Went on a Saturday around 10:30 am. There was a line as expected, but moved fairly quickly. We were able to get seated after waiting for about 30 minutes. It was worth the wait! Great staff and the food is amazing. It was so hard to choose something, but we chose the red velvet pancakes which were perfect. Very large and so good! Love the french press coffee as well. Will definitely be back once we visit LA again.

Huge pancakes

By Pinargencal |

There was a line it took 15 minutes. But believe me it worths to wait. Portions are huge so you should try to share.

Best pancakes in the world, but be prepared to wait.

By faithc |

This place is my GO TO when it comes to sweet pancake options. It really doesn’t get better. Two warnings. There is always a wait, unless you go at really off hours. Also, the place is pretty gritty, not glamorous or comfy, just gritty Hollywood. But worth it for the food!

Lunch

By GeoffandTiff |

Our Airbnb host recommended this cafe to us, we had a look at the reviews and decided to give it a try. Between my wife and I we ordered the small guacamole and the Eggs Benedict and Coffee. As previous reviewers have said the serves are big so if your not a big eater or not that hungry be careful with how much you order. In terms of the food it was all fresh and tasty, service was quick and the coffee was french press and was very good. We will definitely go back if time permits

Delicious food - hope the wastage isn't too high

By Harriet W |

We loved the food, but there was way too much in each serving. You could get it packed to take with you and I really wish we had because I felt bad wasting all that food when the streets outside had so many homeless on them. But the food is gorgeous.

The pictures don’t lie

By Andy |

Pancakes are huge and delicious. NO ONE finished their pancakes. EVERYONE was taking them home in a big box. (I chickened out as I did not want to carry my leftovers around all day) Coffee was best I’ve had in LA so far ( I had mild roast). I had cheese omelette- without pancakes - and even struggled to finish it. (3 eggs and about half a pound of cheese) Restaurant was full at 08:00 on a Friday) Great atmosphere. (Noisy but sociable). Service was prompt and courteous. Would go ago just for the coffee and to watch everyone’s faces when they received their pancakes!

Huge Pancakes

By MikeL3810 |

Great place for breakfast. Worth the wait. Humble inside but with large selection of pancake options and other breakfast items. Well worth the trip and will definitely revisit! Pancakes would feed the whole family! Thanks.

Bomb

By Alex H |

Great breakfast . The line was long but well worth the wait. Their pancakes with the breakfast was very enormous and fulfilling great taste guys

Excellent food, but watch

By KatrinkaSD |

Excellent food, but watch your waistline and keep it simple, would be my advice. There were massive leftovers at other tables. The history of the building and amazing views alone make this a must visit, but the service was excellent, particularly at this difficult time. I would prefer different music and a little less loud, but we had a good time and will be back. Also, staff should know more about the history of the building. They should know where the 600 year pagoda is
or even what the word means.

Great food but always packed

By ChaseK173 |

Had a to die for breakfast spread of some big ol pancakes and all the oj you could want. Server was great but you could tell the amount of people was really causing some hectic running around. Other than that if you want a place to fill up before walking around this is the place to go.

Great Food - Extremely Crowded and Noisy

By Jerry B |

The Griddle is famous for delicious, unique, and creative pancakes. They are thick as a layer of regular cake. Options include chocolate coconut, crushed oreo-filled, and espresso chocolate chip. The burgers are great also; very fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately, the restaurant is extremely cramped and crowded. At 11:40 a.m. on a Tuesday, it was a 20 minute wait to sit elbow to elbow at the counter. The noise level was so high, it was difficult to have a regular conversation. The traffic and congestion at this location is horrible. While the food and service were very good, we don't plan to return due to the cramped seating and the noise level. Really hard to enjoy the meal. Most of the menu items are $12 - $14. One basic burger, one order of french toast and a side of two eggs was $38 (including tax and tip). No drinks.

Pancake fiends will love this place!

By betsnow |

Look, I am a pancake FIEND and this place delivers on amazing pancakes. About a mile from where we were staying we popped in here for breakfast... mostly for the pancakes but also because someone told me you can sometimes spot a celeb eating here and I am nosy like that. We came at the perfect time, weekday at about 8:30 and were seated right away and receiving top notch service which lasted throughout our meal. I ordered a Mocha Coconut Latte that was divine. My colleague ordered regular coffee which he said was awesome as it came in a french press and was robust and smooth. We were warned when we ordered our pancakes. I got the Golden Ticket, my pal got the Banananana. Our server told us there were three pancakes to an order and were huge. We opted for the short stack which is two... and should have gotten a single. These things were enormous. I literally could only eat maybe 2/3 of one pancake. The pancakes themselves are off the charts wonderful. I also ordered a side of bacon... gotta say they have killer bacon here... thick quality slices.

great views

By welbymd |

Good French pressed coffee, and good but very oversized portions. We walked up the hill from Loews. Our service was good but can imagine them getting overwhelmed.

Best breakfast in LA!

By James A |

By far one of the best breakfast places I’ve been to in the USA! Amazing pancakes, french toast to die for! Food was so good we returned to try other menu items. French pressed coffee is a must also.

Biggest and Best Pancakes Ever!

By Tom M |

OK, we did some research on some unique and different places to eat on a recent vacation we took and came across The Griddle Cafe. Boy are we glad we stopped and found this place. First off we ended up going later in the day so we did get seated right away. We had saw the reviews and looks at pictures but nothing is like really seeing the size of the pancakes live and in person. They are unbelievable. Service was excellent and the location seems like parking might be a challenge but we took an uber from our hotel which made it easy. We ordered Barry Yellow, Good Ol Fashioned, Mom's french toast, the Golden Ticket and Some Like it hot scrambled. There was 4 of us and what we did was share with each other to try some different items. I will tell you that even sharing we still had food left over. All the food was excellent, serviced quickly and we would definitely stop again if we are in the LA/Hollywood area. Definitely recommend this as a stop if you are in the area looking for a unique great meal. Enjoy!

Biggest pancakes I've ever seen!

By Hannah C |

We had heard about the Griddle Cafe from friends and online and we arrived for just after it opened (7.30am). We expected to queue but we were able to sit at a table straight away. Service was very good; staff were friendly and attentive. The coffee was great! A huge choice on the menu! We opted for the pancakes which were delicious! Struggled to eat even half so we were able to box up what we didn't eat to take away. Reasonably priced and would return!

Amazing

The food here is just immense.. awesome pancakes with pineapple.. Breakfast foods are great too.. Highly recommended. Portions are a very good size

Breakfast

By Imcold1956 |

Visited for breakfast on our first day in LA and enjoyed one of the best meals of our stay. Food was good, massive portions and the service quick and friendly. Proper American diner experience.

Fantastic classic American Diner and amazing breakfasts

By AnilJ |

Fantastic breakfast choices and a classic American diner cafe that is 100% service all the way. The Black Sunset needs to be shared as huge and all allergies and vegan choices can be accommodated. The place is right on Sunset Blvd. Definitely try visiting when in LA.

Lovely breakfast with atmosphere

By Kellyb58941 |

We stopped off for breakfast on the way to Universal Studios. The coffee was good and the pancakes delicious. The pancakes are extremely large, and It would have been great if the staff had advised us of the extraordinary size prior to ordering for children. As a family of 5, we could have ordered 2 pancakes and still had left overs. We would return but order much less, as the food wastage was huge (each serve was 3 large pancakes overhanging a dinner plate).

So much food

By Hannahfay123 |

This is great for a novelty value trip but I wouldn’t go again. Portions are HUGE and you can just order one pancake but they don’t tell you that so we ended up ordered 3 and so much went to waste. Lots of fun flavours on the menu

Where legends are born

By Gary S |

Classic, institutional LA sunset strip diner. Busy and full on opening at 8am on a Saturday. Excellent, fast friendly service. Tequila Sunrise with sour cream and avo - legend! I will have to go back and try another dish.

Literally, one of the best breakfast places like ever. I wish there was one closer to my house. Their pancakes are to DIE for. I ordered eggs, has browns, bacon and pancakes. It looked like I ordered for a whole family! The portions are VERY large and oh soooo good. Great for leftovers as well. Highly recommend making this a stop on your list!

Man v food

By Jetset |

My partner found this after looking up man v food not because he likes to eat a lot but because he wanted an authentic American diner breakfast. The atmosphere is typically American, loud & bold, with seating around a central bar type area & other tables. I ordered eggs benedict & he ordered the traditional pancakes. Mine came with a side of toast, breakfast potatoes & a spicy salsa. His came with butter & syrup. Now he can eat but only manages half of the huge three pancake pile though you can ask for a container to take out. All in all a good traditional American breakfast.

A mixed bag, but definitely worthy with the right info up front

Food- 5... enjoyed the benedict & the Creme de la Creme French toast Service-4... Isabella was great, though we were forgotten occasionally, being seated at the very end; she helped us get a free small glass of Prosecco by registering Process- 0... they moved a few miles away in Feb, but Yelp & TripAdvisor are not updated to new address, so we Uber'd to the wrong location on Sunset & needed end Uber up the hill; only the 2nd of over 700 restaurants I've been to this season of the past 18 months that refused to give paper menus (what do sight-impaired people & those who left their phone in their car do?); BUT they didn't tell you to scan the QR code at check in & didn't have the code at the tables, so we wasted 15 minutes before bringing their menu up online; then they required payment on another QR code on your cell phone, emphasizing the touchless process despite all the times they touched our food, drinks, setups, check,... View- 5... outside tables, overlooking Hollywood, up in the hills at Yamashiro

We love this place! This was our first time visiting with our baby. We went after the rush, and were seated immediately with room for our car seat and stroller. The service was friendly and we each ordered huge and delicious French toast.

Beyond Perfect Breakfast

Amazing breakfast experience. Service is great and food is delicious with a large variety of meals to pick from. Allocate enough time, it is crowded and you have to wait outside to be seated. Also, plan $25 per person for your budget. I would return.

The best breakfast in LA

Been going here for years. Love, love, love it. Usually get the yellow brick road or red velvet pancakes. It’s across town so don’t get there as often as we like. Lines get crazy on weekends if you don’t arrive early but always worth it. French press coffee always hits the spot! Free parking in the lot out back. Friendly staff always, even when hectic and crowded. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Excellent breakfast venue

Excellent breakfast venue with an awesome menu. I would avoid the pancakes on health grounds! The benedict is quite something. Throw in local celebrities and it’s a must visit

Where Quality meets Quantity in breakfast form

I went here after a hike on a friends recommendation and it did not disappoint. The pancakes were literally as big as my forearm and engulfed the plate! They were so incredibly delicious and I only ate half of it. If you like pumpkin in July this is the route to go. We also split the Caballero breakfast burrito which said on the menu “This one is HUGE!” However based on the size proportion of their pancakes we were a bit disappointed. My friend got the “It’s No Secret” French toast with Cinnamon Streusel and it was on point! Definitely recommend this spot to anyone that likes good breakfast food and there are plenty of leftovers too!

Breakfast yum yum

Busy cafe we had the muscle bound omelette and eggs Benedict highly recommend although you might have to wait because they get very busy it's well worth it. Great food great price and very helpful staff definitely go again.

Nice staff and service

Massive pancakes and nice coffee. Very packed but there's a quick turnaround so you aren't waiting long. Pancakes were nice, nothing special and the eggs were okay. I would go again to try other dishes. Get there early to avoid long queues as it gets REALLY busy.

Superb experience!

The Griddle is such a 5 star restaurant quality establishment! Today, I ate the Señor Juan’s Tacos with steak fries, it was awesome!!!! Tasted very good and seasoned to perfection!!! It was sooo good!! I want some more right now! Even, the man beside me, I overheard praising his food to the person he was with; and some more people I overheard praising their food! It was phenomenal! Also, my waitress was really nice and exemplified great customer service!! I didn’t get her name, but she was awesome!!! Great atmosphere and great to bring friends and family to have a happy fun breakfast or lunch!! I highly recommend!!!

simply amazing!

Fantastic pancakes and breakfast selection! Super delicious pancakes - also ordered the ham (both HUGE portions). Would suggest splitting all orders - enough for two! A great breakfast/brunch place - but if you go on weekends - get there early to avoid the wait!

Belly Full-O-Pancakes

Huge portions-seriously consider sharing with 4 people! We got Holey Moley whole wheat pancakes and they were good, just a tad sweet which is what I wanted mostly savory. Very busy place!

I’m stuffed

I ordered the Belgium waffle and a side of scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese. I could barely finish it. The pressed coffee was delicious. I think the waffles are made with whole wheat flour. The cinnamon was easily identified. The waffle was served with a large chunk of butter. Pure maple syrup was served. My wife enjoyed her omelette and my son couldn’t finish waffle. It’s very noisy inside when there’s a full house and two televisions give you something to watch while waiting for your order. Service was friendly. The long wait in line for a seat at the counter may have been worth it. I’m sure no one left hungry. Note: The parking meters on the street are only good for one hour.

Huge!

Very very nice meals but you will definitely need to share them! They are huge for just one person, have this in mind when you order!

Not Worth Your Time

By James Frost |

I live within walking distance and I'd wondered why people line up at this place that looks much of nothing from the outside. Apparently people will line up for anything, because this place is a huge disappointment. The servers don't seem at all happy to be there, and their negativity shows in their service, as they are abrupt, unhelpful, and if you don't order coffee, they will take away your cup so you can't share with your friends. The pancakes are not good-- an enormous pile of flour and sugar that is weighty, claggy, and gummy. The flavors are lost to maple syrup anyway, which is not quality maple syrup that you would expect in an expensive breakfast place. So unless you want a plate of gloppy pancakes the size of the Millenium Falcon, you will be disappointed. Go to Toast, Kings Road Cafe, or even IHOP and you'll be far happier.
