I suppose you should make a reservation, but being just the two of us, and because we were surrounded by so many wonderful restaurants, we didn't bother. It was a Monday night and they sat us immediately. We went there wanting a nice bottle of wine and the charcuterie plate, which was perfect, but also ended up with the lobster truffle mac n cheese, and a large rare filet mignon, with a loaded baked potato. The loaded potato was legendary. The didn't get skimpy on the toppings, and the peel was salt n pepper crusted just like mom used to make. So arrive hungry and willing to share. Neither of us could finish, even though everything was delicious, the portions are big, the staff was friendly, and it was well worth the experience.

We were on an extended trip with one night in Chicago and were staying nearby. We saved up our appetites for legendary Chicago steaks and was a little disappointed, OK but nothing spectacular. Service was outstanding, however, and it was easy to get a last minute great table (but now maybe I know why). Nice to walk right across the street to see Hamilton at the Theatre afterward.

Delicious food, great service. Nothing more to say. Had a great dinner and got sloshed. Highly recommended. Get the porterhouse !

We went early so we could make sure we weren't rushed to make Hamilton across the street. That worked great and obviously the staff knew what to ask and how to schedule the meal. Our wait person was Ivan who was great and we were rewarded with an excellent meal that started with the ahi tartare. This was followed by the t-bone prime which I thoroughly enjoyed. My wife had the steak salad which was prepared exactly the way she wanted. For dessert we had a fruit topped creme brûlée, perfect. A very nice wine list and not overly expensive. High;y recommended.

We did not eat here but just had drinks before Hamilton. It is a great place. The food smelled excellent. The service was great. I would go back for dinner.

I brought my husband to Chicago for his birthday and to see Hamilton. I reserved a table before the show and my first clue should have been they still had spots four days prior to the show. The staff was gracious, attentive, and even wrote a birthday card for him. Tony, our server, couldn't have been better... I wish the food had been better. We started with the charcuterie board... packaged crackers, packaged buffalo mozzarella, packaged goat cheese, just not made in house overall (mustard seemed from a jar as did the preserves). Husband enjoyed his filet, cooked beautifully. I had the sesame ahi tuna and ordered shrimp on the side. The dish had so much soy sauce on it, it was almost inedible. The shrimp were overcooked, rubbery, and very salty despite not being coated in soy sauce like the rest of the plate. For a $200+ meal, everything should be on point. Our Lyft driver tried to convince us to go somewhere else... Can't recommend... stars are for the staff and thoughtful attention to my husband's birthday.

This was one of the best meals I had in Chicago. When I got to the restaurant about 7 pm, it was packed with people whom I assumed were attending the play Hamilton directly across the street. The food was spectacular and came quickly despite the crowd. I had the Double Cut Filet and a massive baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly and just the right amount. I later had the Fried Gelato, which capped off a perfect meal.

Three couples, dinner before Hamilton at CIBC. I can't say enough about the perfectly cooked 22 oz ribeye, nor the Beer and Goat Cheese Salad appetizer that was a meal in itself. Excellent bar, others at the table had the Filet, and the Pork Chop, all raved about quality and perfection. Slightly expensive, but worth every dollar. Oh yes, the carrot cake at the end was superb.

After a day at the aquarium and Field Museum, we wanted a good steak dinner in an upscale atmosphere. We almost didn't keep our reservation because of the weather - rainy, high winds and cold. Very glad we took a cab and came anyway. From the scallop appetizer to the steaks to the excellent desserts, the food was wonderful. Wait staff very attentive without being intrusive and food well worth the price.

A fantastic restaurant to enjoy good food and wine in a nice setting. 10 of us visited and the bill was £2.5k which is steep as a headline, but the quality was fantastic and we had a great time. Service was good. A slight word of caution around paying on credit card as they add fees for this.

This restaurant is superb. There is such a different atmosphere than other restaurant. You were seated in private room as we were a group of 20 people. Food was delicious, service impeccable and wine was great as well. It was chic without being snob. No need for Jacket

While not the best steak house I have ever been to, it's location for Hamilton ticket holders could not be better. My steak was cooked well (Medium rare) and my side dish of crispy brussel sprouts was good. My wife enjoyed her pork chop and mashed potatoes. Our server was very friendly and did not rush us - he told us that as long as we had tickets, we did not need to wait on the long line and would be fine going 15 mins before curtain time (he was right). Dinner came to around $175 with tip, drinks and cappuccinos.

Best service and food. Thank you Jason and Camille! Jason was extremely helpful in suggesting wine selections with our dinner. We started with oysters and the sausage and peppers. Both were wonderful. I had the Carbonara - very flavorful and the pasta was cooked perfectly - al dente. My husband had steak that was cooked as he ordered and was delicious. He had the side of Brussels sprouts and they were excellent. The chocolate cake was so moist. Highly recommend this restaurant.

The food was excellent, as was the wine. Our waiter was most a accommodating, encouraging us to linger over dinner so we would not wait out in the cold waiting to get in to see Hamilton. It is directly across the street from the theater, so one stop parking was very convenient. We had the salmon and surf and turf, it was delicious.

We went there for an early dinner so didn't need a reservation. The food was delicious. I would recommend the pork chop! We had apple dumplings for dessert and it was the best! Great service and great location if you are going to the theater!

Had a terrific pre-show dinner here last month. I did call ahead for reservations as we were a party of 7. We were quickly seated, and our waiter was very attentive of the fact that we had 7:30 PM show tickets. Our reservation was for 4:30 - we were unrushed and had cocktails, meal, and dessert easily in that time - even considering we wanted to be at the theater by 7 PM. The 'Hamilton' themed cocktails were all very good and quite unique. Members of our group had everything from surf and turf to fish and all enjoyed their meals. They even accommodated us and made some delicious chicken nachos that used to be on the menu but no longer are. Overall, this was a perfect start to the evening, and we had a great experience.

Arrived right on time for 6:30 pm reservation. Seated immediately. Waiter asked if had theater tickets. He didn't hurry us, but once we ordered our orders were out quickly and done precisely as ordered. The food was very good. Never felt rushed and we were done with our meal with ample time to enjoy the play. It could not have worked out better.

We wanted a restaurant close to the theater hosting teh show Hamilton. We couldn't get any closer, right across teh street, with excellent service and food. We had an early reservation so we could make the show on time. I advised the staff and they handled things perfectly. We were not rushed to eat. Atmosphere is perfect for an evening meal without being overly posh. Steaks are as good as it gets. Great wine list. They didn't mind serving one meal split for two seniors. This is a soup to nuts eating establishment that will meet most dinner out needs.

The Grillroom is the ideal place to have a snack or dinner or drinks before Hamilton or any performance at the theatre. Food and service are good. Restroom is in far back corner. Try the mac and cheese.

We were walking near our hotel and saw a giant Weber Grill on the side of the building. We had to check out The Grillroom and discovered it was popular with the locals. We were able to sit outside which offered a quieter atmosphere. The appetizers were yummy - and the large greek salad was HUGE. Portions are ample here - so choose wisely.

We celebrated Valentine's Day at The Grillroom. We ordered the NY Strip, a Filet, the crispy bussel sprouts, sausage and peppers and a few drinks. The steaks were very tender and juicy inside with a crusty outside and cooked exactly as we requested. The brussel sprouts with pancetta and parmesan were absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable!!! We can't rave enough about the food and service and hope to get back soon to try the other dishes. Waitress Kelly and manager Jason were 100% top notch, suggesting wines based on what we were eating as well as other food/booze pairing trips. We didnt encounter the constant water fillings. This tells me the staff is well trained. BRAVO! FOR THOSE OF YOU STAYING AT THE PALMER HOUSE OR SEEING A SHOW AT THE CIBC theatre, there is no other top notch place to go.

We had a reservation prior to the Hamilton show, unfortunaely we were late getting to the Grillroom. They did accommodate us immediately, we only had 45 minutes prior to the beginning of the musical, so we ordered a drink and appetizers. The waitress was nice, quick and understanding. It was my birthday, since we were late we declined the restaurant's birthday celebration. I am not sure what it was, but I will visit the Grillroom again and have a steak and leisurely dinner. It's directly across the street from The CIBC Theatre, where Hamilton is playing.

The location across the street from the CIBC Theatre makes it a very attractive option for theatre goers. The menu takes advantage of that with Hamilton themed items. Our waiter was good and the food came out in a timely manner. I found the food somewhat bland and ordinary. I probably won't return...there are so many other choices nearby.

Excellent food and friendly staff. The price is not that bad either, especially for downtown Chicago. Nice ambiance for business or pleasure.

This is a great dining venue whether or not you are going to see a play at the PrivateBank theater. Since it was a beautiful night in Chicago, we decided to dine in their outside area. Dinner was delicious and the service was delightful!

Dined here entirely because of it's location - directly across from the PrivateBank Theatre, home to Hamilton Chicago. There is an outdoor patio with direct views of the theater. A perfect place for a quick drink, appetizers and dessert, or a full meal. The outdoor patio seat backs are somewhat reclined. Great for relaxing, not so much for dining. Food was unimpressive during our visit. The filet was not served as ordered, however the flavor was good. Fish and shrimp were overcooked, tough, and dry. Sides and soup/salad were forgettable. Service was very good until the end. We asked for a dessert menu and received the check for dinner instead. If you dine here, try one of the mac and cheese offerings. Several diners around us were glowing about it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. There were two minor issues. MINOR. DO NOT GO WHEN THERE IS A SHOW across the street. HAMILTON is playing and the place was jammed..BUT we tucked ourselves in a spot in the bar area with a shelf where you can place your bag and drinks while you wait. The show which usually starts at 7:30. There was an awesome server Jose who accommodated us by getting our beverages for us so we didn't have to order from behind patrons who were enjoying their meal at the bar. When we were done, one of the bartenders gave us the wrong check which is an innocent mistake. It was too bad because our check was $80 more and being from NY, we were seriously thrilled.....which only lasted about 5 minutes. all in all, loved the place and the food and the location to our hotel (Central Loop).

Delicious food, helpful staff, and a very comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. Jason, the manager was great! Came in as part of a large group with a reservation and everything was really good.

Had a great meal. Steaks cooked to perfection. Fairly priced. They knew we were going to Hamilton and we’re efficient but not rushed. Very old school atmosphere. Could have easily been in NY or Chicago. Would definitely go again.

We made reservations and came here before we went to see Hamilton. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Would definitely go back.

Poor service. 2 ‘managers’ ‘working ‘ but not helping with customer service. Neither of them asked us anything about our experience or if they could help us in any way. The subtle feeling in the atmosphere from them was that we were uninvited guests that just ‘dropped in unannounced ‘ for dinner. Drinks left empty, had to ask for dirty dishes to be removed. Food quality was poor and overpriced. Sorry to have bothered you.

The food was delicious of our party of 5 every person loved their food. Very expensive but high quality. Was not impressed with the service, it started well, but I guess we were there for the theater rush. If you plan to go to dinner before going to theater let them know when your making your reservation, they will help you set up the time and the staff will do their best to get you to the show on time.

Bar directly across the street for our hotel. Crowded and popular. Excellent and extensive choice of wines. Friendly and efficient service

We went to the Chophouse mainly for convenience and because it was rated well. It was so easy to book an open table reservation for 6PM and be finished in plenty of time to enjoy our meal and get across the street for the Hamilton play curtain call at 7:30PM! P.S. Actual curtain was closer to 7:45PM. Was a magical evening and the food, service and decor were great last night! The goat beet & cheese salad was delish with a side of broccolini. Hubby had the cheese board for his meal and was not disappointed. Daughter had chicken veggie soup that was too salty and had to be watered down. She filled up on gratis bread & butter anyway. All was fabulous and would go back. Bathroom was clean, but don't wait too long just before leaving if you're headed to a play as the ladies rest room line got long @7:15PM. Hope this helps!

We had a lovely meal before the show at CIBC…location is unbeatable…we had Salmon, salads, gumbo…delicious drinks ..fried gelato…unique.. our server was aware of our plans and kept us on time for the curtain…

I am so sorry I did not take a photo of the 22 oz Ribeye we shared. After the Onion Bread, French Onion Soup, Wedge Salad and Baked Potato with Sour Cream and Chives... we were in a Food Coma! On to Hamilton!

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely lunch here before crossing the street to see Hamilton. The food and service were amazing and quick.

We stopped to have a late lunch as we left town. The menu has great variety and mid-range priced. We had delicious, huge burgers on pretzel buns. The restaurant is located across from the CIBC Theatre and the Hampton Inn Majestic making it an excellent location for theatre goers.

This is a good option if you're in need of a meal before seeing Hamilton as it is literally across the street from the theater. The night we went to the show, it was raining so it was very convenient to not have to figure out travel from the restaurant to the theater. If you are arriving pre-show, be sure to make reservations, allow at least 2 hours and let your server know that you are on a deadline. The menu was varied, which is good if you have a large group (something for everyone). I order the marinated steak cobb salad which was very good and filling. The roasted brussel sprouts were ok, I like mine a little more roasted (so the leaves are starting to get crispy) but that's just personal preference. All in all, it was a pleasant experience!

We happened to luck into this place. Very nice atmosphere, the steaks were great and the service was too.

Ate outdoors. This time a year, some mosquitoes. Service was excellent and the steak was a true medium. The house cab, excellent as well.

A good restaurant for different occasions due to its proximity to businesses and theatres in Chicago. Food is solid and reasonably priced. Service level is good and professional.

From the minute we walked in, our experience at The Grillroom was wonderful. We were warmly greeted by the host and shown to a table immediately. The room was not too bright or too dark and the music was not so loud that it interfered with our conversation. Our server (Amber- the BEST) was very knowledgable about the wine choices, the menu items, and the specials. She was friendly and professional and attentive. The food was unbelievably good- one of the best meals I've ever had in my life. Steak and lobster tail with grilled asparagus was one of the specials- and it was amazing. Cooked and seasoned to perfection- just the right amount of food that it was satisfying without being too much. Cheesecake dessert was light and wonderful. We will definitely be going back to The Grillroom - everything about it was wonderful. Bonus- it's right across the street from the CIBC theater which makes it perfect for a night out.

My family and I had dinner after a matinee of Hamilton, which is right across the street. Everyone loved their food. I had their special, a filet crusted w blue cheese and a lobster tail w mashed potatoes and green beans. The entire meal was fantastic. For the table we ordered sides of the pulled pork mac and cheese which was delicious. The brussel sprouts seemed under cooked with not that much flavor. The cocktails are Hamilton themed which is fun.

We had a wonderful dinner before walking across the street to see Hamilton. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The steaks were perfectly done. And we had perhaps the best raspberry sorbet ever. We went at 5:30 before a 7:30 time, and finished a leisurely dinner by about 6:45.

In Chicago, it is difficult to find a fine dining restaurant -- a steakhouse, Italian or French -- that is open for lunch. Most open at 3, 4 or 5. But the Grillroom Chophouse & Wine Bar is a welcome exception. Located at 33 West Monroe Street, in the Loop's bustling Theatre District, near the Art Institute, it offers a power lunch from 11 to 3 Monday through Friday with dinner from 4 to 9 on Monday, 11 to 9 Tuesday through Friday and 4 to 9 on Saturday. This is a Loop steakhouse with modern decor that serves all-natural steaks, salads, seafood, pasta and wine. It features a full bar with wood and leather finishes, a hardwood floor, wood-paneled walls, tall leather booths, high ceilings, warm mood lighting and a good bar scene with jazz music in the background. Just what my friends and I were looking for. We started with a bowl of tomato bisque, bruschetta with marinated tomatoes, Buffalo mozzarella, basil and baguette crostini, meatballs with arrabiatta sauce, shaved parmesan, asiago and garlic toast points and classic Caesar salad with anchovies, oven dried tomatoes and parmesan bread sticks and a dilled shrimp cocktail with horseradish cocktail sauce. For entrees, we chose a 12-ounce double-cut filet mignon with bearnaise sauce, a giant baked potato with bacon, cheddar cheese, sour cream, butter and scallions and hickory smoked mushrooms, a 14-ounce bone-in ribeye steak with peppercorn, buttery Yukon mashed potatoes and sauteed green beans and herb-crusted whitefish with artichoke beets, broccoli and marble potatoes with garlic and pomodoro broth. For dessert, we indulged in baklava, sponge cake with strawberries and fried vanilla bean ice cream with granola topping. Sure beats a lunch with soup-and-sandwich.

After seeing Hamilton (across the street), we stopped in to have a drink and wait for an Uber. We ordered a total of 6 glasses of wine and 1 sangria and our bill was over $70. How absolutely ridiculous. Our first clue should have been the lack of people there following the show. It might be a great place for dinner but we will never find out.

My wife and I traveled to Chicago to see "Hamilton." We dined before the show at The Grillroom. We enjoyed our meal. We had reservations for 5:30, and we were seated immediately. Our server Anthony was efficent and helpful. We never felt rushed during our dinner, and we completed our meal including dessert a little before 7:00 pm (7:30 showtime). We were there during the week (Thursday night) so I do not know how that would compare for weekend service. As for the meal itself. We both enjoyed our meals. My wife started with a Waldorf Salad. She is accustomed to a Waldorf that has mayonnaise based dressing. This salad was dressed with a light vinagarette, but she enjoyed it. I had a wedge that was topped with a generous portion of blue cheese dressing and blue cheese on the wedge. It was also very good. For our entrees, my wife ordered the herb crusted white fish in a pomodoro broth. The dinner came with two generous pieces of white fish. She reported that her entree was very good. I had the eight ounce filet mignon with the baked potato and red wine demi sauce on the side. The steak was prepared just as I ordered it, and it was nicely seasoned. I also enjoyed the red wine sauce with the steak. The baked potato was one of the "shareable" sides so it was large. I only ate half of it. It was also baked well thorugh the entire potato. For dessert we shared the fried vanilla bean ice cream with a granola topping. The dessert was a nice way to finish off our dinner

One of many good steakhouse options in Chicago, probably not better than many but among the several very good options. Excellent steaks and several non steak options. Across the street from CIBC Theater (front windows give a view of it) so perfect for Lee or post show. Very pleasant wait staff were competent.

So a group of six of us migrated over to the Grillroom after Hamilton and it was initially crowded so the service was a bit slow (understandably)....But: We waited for the rush to end then grabbed a table in the bar area and service somehow for worse? We never really had a server, more of random people checking on us periodically. When we asked for more drinks the response was let me get your server? Huh? Then why come to the table? That was a bit frustrating for us but we endured and ordered some food. We had a Southwest salad which was pretty good! A pork chop entree which was decent, but nothing fancy. Our friends had charcutterie platters, spicy rigatoni and the pulled pork Mac n cheese. The Mac was really pretty bland and served room temperature, the platters looked decent and the pasta was sizable. All in all the food was average but the service was underwhelming. So in a nutshell, nice place to grab a pre-theatre drink and/or snack but don't expect a fine dining experience. Maybe they had an off night? You decide and give it a try but this was our experience that particular night.

Located near theaters and across from Hamilton. Was a great before theater meal. The service was very attentive and the steaks were out of this world. It is a great place for a meal anytime and we will definitely look it up when in Chicago next. I tend to like my steak more well-done and the rib eye was cooked through, was very juicy and tender. The accompanying dishes were excellent also..

Great location with indoor and outdoor seating. Wonderful atmosphere inside with music that complements conversation rather than drown it. Had the seafood plate (awesome value) and the flat iron marinated steak. Everything was prepared just right and the server was right on the spot every time. Would gladly and wholeheartedly recommend.

Had a walk-in lunch at the bar and couldn't pass on the steak. Medium rare (did have to send back and get one less done). The service was very courteous and proper. The feel was perfect for the experience.

Crowded with before theater crowd but service was quick and orders delivered promptly. Reservations a must with Hamilton across the street. Noise level a bit challenging but we were lucky enough to secure a booth so that helped. Dinner salad was excellent.

Went to dinner to celebrate my friends birthday. The staff was so very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. I had the crab Mac and cheese and a side of broccolini with spinach. So garlicky and yummy! 2 of my friends ordered steak and lobster though and said that the lobster was over cooked and chewy.

The food was excellent from beginning to end. Calamari app, lobster tail and steaks all cooked very well. The service was really special, too. I don't know why the restaurant wasn't more crowded.

Had patio dining available but we ate indoors. Seating was slow but then service was excellent. We walked over at 5pm so we were early. Had salmon which was perfectly grilled.

Totally empty restaurant on one of the busiest days of the year (big conference in town). The manager refused to turn on one of the TV's so the game could be seen by the one table eating there...our table...claiming it would hurt their reputation. NO ONE was in the dining area but us. NO ONE. We waited until 8:30pm...no one coming in. He refused. We tipped out the staff because it was the right thing to do, but I did not want to because it would indicate we were satisfied. We were not. We will not be back. 12/01/2019, 6pm reservation. Manager needs to be removed.

Great romantic spot. Fabulous food, cocktails, and service. Conveniently located across from the theater for Hamilton. Awesome Hamilton-themed drink selections. Mouth watering steaks.

Great dinner spot before theater show. Convenient location to CIBC theater and Hamilton. Food good and service as well, made sure to get you seated and out in time, without feeling rushed.

Right across the street from Private Bank Theater! Grabbed lunch before Hamilton. Food was very good, but be prepared, it's pricey! It was fun drinking a Monticello Mule (from the Hamilton themed cocktail menu) and watching the people take photos in front of the Hamilton marquee and gather with excitement before the doors open to the theater. We made a reservation for 11:30, and when we arrived the place was empty. I joked to the hostess that we didn't need the reservation and she indicated that it would be busy soon. By noon, the place was packed wth business people and theater goers. Husband and I had the 3 fish taco special with house salad....Yum! Sons had pulled pork sandwich and macaroni and cheese. Both cleaned their plates! F you're going to Hamilton, this is the place to eat or grab a drink!

The food is very good. The service was wonderful. It was an enjoyable experience before seeing “Hamilton”. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We arrived on Sunday evening which is a slow time for this restaurant. It’s a large steakhouse nicely outfitted. Our server was very accommodating and even mentioned that their sides would probably feed the three of us. We each order the small fillet mignon. And we ordered our s cooked three different ways. They we’re grilled exactly as requested and even the medium well was tender. Drinks we’re good and we would definitely return again. Great meal for the cost! Thanks.

Right across the street from the CIBC Theatre and a great spot for our family to enjoy dinner after a Hamilton matinee. We enjoyed the cozy, curved booth seats and our meals. Our service was excellent - thank you!

Terrific food at this steakhouse, great menu and reasonably priced even considering the convenient "tourist trap" location opposite a trendy theater. Bone-in Kansas City Strip was surprisingly delicious. Definitely big-league steakhouse here!

Went here for dinner after seeing Hamilton at the Private Bank Theater directly across the street. We arrived at 4:30......very early but had great service and a delicious meal. Had the sea bass and it was outstanding! My friend had the roasted chicken and enjoyed it. Good service, kind waiter!

My wife and I hope for a dining experience when we travel. We found one at The Grillroom. Dark and quiet, a secluded booth, excellent service and great food. If you want glitzy, flashy, and a waiter that rushes you, go elsewhere. Set down your phone and enjoy the experience.

steak was great! quality of the meat, the way it was cooked... nothing but compliments on rhat side. Bearnaise however was absoluty not good, neither were the french fries. Big disappointment for me was also rhar you need to use your cell's flash to see anything. Even your plate will be hidden in the dark. No, sorry, no place for me..... No value for the money.

We went here before seeing Hamilton. They accommodated us knowing we didn’t have all night! Good quality food and wine with service to match! This will not let you down when you dine.

We walked in without reservations an hour and a half before going to see Hamilton. We were not really expecting to be able to get service without a reservation. The staff were so accommodating!! Every effort was made to ensure that we were served in style with the best food in a limited time! The steaks were cooked to perfection for everyone in our party!

We stopped in before the show for cocktails and a quick bite. The Hamilton-inspired cocktails were great, as were the appetizers. We had the seafood selection, shrimp cocktail and bruschetta, and all were wonderful. Very convenient location, and nice decor.

We went here before a show largely for the location (Hamilton was playing literally across the street) and not expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised both by the depth of the menu offerings and the preparation. Despite the name there's plenty of lighter items on the menu (I had an excellent tuna tartare) Nothing particularly creative, but no miscues. The service was quite good, and they clearly have experience in getting people to the shows on time. Wine list was adequate and no more pricey than you'd expect for the location.

The Grillroom was recommended to us by a person in the audience at a matinee performance of Hamilton at the CIBC Theatre. It is directly across the street. We didn't have reservations, but we're seated promptly and had a marvellous dinner with a bottle of wine! Steaks were wonderg, as was the lobster bisque, pear andx goat cheese salad and lobster tail. Service was impeccable and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal in this classy restaurant!

We had reservations at the Grillroom after seeing a Sunday performance of Hamilton. Wonderful menu, attentive wait staff and great lighting and jazz playing in the background.

Two of us ate here last night because the location was convenient to the Palmer House where I was staying. Here is the summary: my steak was really good (8 oz filet), no sides come with an entree, the Brussel sprouts were hard and frankly awful, fair wine selection (disappointing since wine bar was in the restaurant’s name), service was good, old looking/little atmosphere. There are much better chop houses in Chicago.

Excellent service, great food, great location - especially if staying downtown. Steak and salmon were excellent.

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at the Grillroom and then Hamilton. We had a splendid time and brilliant meal.... our favorite part? the roasted garlic head that we could spread onto our bread and steak. What an incredible pairing!! The creme brulee with candied nuts and strawberries was to die for, and since it was our anniversary, dessert was on the house! Wonderful wait staff who made sure we got to the show on time. ACROSS THE STREET from the PrivateBank Theatre....Couldn't get any better!

I have eaten here before and not been impressed, however, since my last visit to the restaurant it has improved. The prices remain high, two teenagers and one adult spent over $200 without drinks. Two of us ordered steak which was cooked perfectly. I have had better steaks elsewhere for a lower price, but the location is a factor in the pricing. The third ordered lobster mac and cheese which she felt was very good. Calamari appetizer was excellent and creme brûlée got good reviews as well. My own gumbo was too starchy and almost could be cut with a knife. Sat in the pot too long. The service was excellent. The waiter was available and anticipated needs nicely. In an unusual move they stored leftovers for us until later in the evening, an appreciated service. In short, if money is no object consider this restaurant. Food is above average, but not concomitant with the price. It is very convenient to the Private Bank Theater which is across the street.

Located across the street from the Hamilton theater, it's a great place to go before the show. A 5:30 reservation should give you plenty of time before a 7:30 show. I started with the salad wedge, which was loaded with chunks of blue cheese, while my husband had a delicious seafood gumbo. For dinner, my medium-rare filet was tender and cooked perfectly! We also split 2 sides (al a carte). The delicious bread pudding we chose for our dessert was comped since it was a special occasion. It was a great dinner for a special occasion, but I would not normally spend that much when I go out.

My sister and I ate here before going to see Hamilton across the street. Perfect location to see the front of the theater. I had steak which was a wondrous rib eye cooked to perfection but not seasoned to my taste I came close to adding salt. I also ordered Brussel Sprouts which were a bit bland as well even with the promised parmesan cheese. My sister had a crab cake appetizer with a salad she had no complaints. Service was very good with our drinks never running dry. It is a bit pricey but this is downtown Chicago - I guess I expected perfection and was a little let down

This has the feel of an old fashioned type steak house in the heart of the Loop. This restaurant is right across from the Private Bank Theatre on Monroe street. The wait staff will help you make your curtain. Food is really done well and the service is very attentive and knowledgeable. Any beef dish will be a good choice and they have a small wine list. Definitely go here pre or post theatre but it fills quickly so have a reservation.

Dined here after seeing Hamilton across the street. Dining outside if you want less formal. Service was outstanding and accommodated a doggie bag without any grudge. I had a steak and it literally melted in my mouth.

Two friends and I dined here during our girls' weekend trip to Chicago to shop and see Hamilton. We arrived ahead of our reservation and were seated right away. Our server was out of this world-- I think her name was Ashley or Amber-- absolutely amazing! Because we wanted to just enjoy our time there before the show, she told us she would space our appetizer and entree orders out enough to allow us time to talk and enjoy our wine. We first ordered calamari and salads. For dinner, I ordered the sesame Ahi Tuna-- it was delicious! We shared desserts, which were also very good. The food was worth every penny and because we were right across the street from the theater, we were able to just walk over when we were ready to go. Absolutely worth a visit!

It was raining and cold in May; it was warm and welcoming inside the restaurant. Food was good, though as expected and nothing out of the ordinary. Lots of folks who had stopped in after work on a Friday evening. A good place for dinner.

Sat in bar, 65% empty, but took 10 minutes to get any other human to notice I was there. A wee bit unorganized. Could it be my cologne?!! Ordered onion soup, filet, and grilled. asparagus. Dinner rolls good. Overall food very good.worth a return trip.

We had matinee seats for Hamilton at the Private Bank Theater (wow!) but did not have plans for dinner after. We saw the Grillroom Chop house right across the street and decided to have an early dinner there. What a nice surprise! Lovely atmosphere with little lamps on each table. Nice menu and very good service. By the time we left, the restaurant had filled up including the sidewalk tables outside. Perfect place for the theater crowd. Not cheap, but some more reasonably priced choices are available.

There were 4 of us on a 5 day visit and were interested in traditional American steakhouse for dinner. Some of the other downtown options were overpriced or fully booked so we tried the Grillroom and were not disappointed. Easy to get to by walking from a downtown/riverside hotel or via "L", Uber or taxi. The service was top notch, the food was very good to excellent. A good wine list was available and was fairly priced. Steak done to perfection.

We've been to the Grillroom Chophouse several times for pre-theater dinners and have always enjoyed it -- both for the convenience (right across from CIBC Theatre), service, food and ambience. Our last visit was in March 2017. Months in advance, we made another dinner reservation for Dec. 8, 2017. We had raved to our theater companions about the Chophouse, and everyone was looking forward to the experience. About two weeks before our reservation, we received a voicemail from the restaurant telling us they were canceling our reservation because the restaurant now had a private event that night. What a shoddy way to do business and to treat customers. We ended up having to find another restaurant at the last minute, and it's several blocks farther from the theater. Hopefully the other restaurant will be good and we will have found our replacement for the Chophouse Grillroom. A very disappointing experience and bad customer service.

Food was delicious... filets cooked to perfection. Fun Hamilton-inspired cocktails and an ample beer and wine selection. Super convenient pre-theatre location. Service was... uninspired. Adequate but certainly not attentive.

This restaurant is directly across from the theater where Hamilton is playing. Service was prompt and attentive and thoughtful. Had the salad Nicoise which was very good, and an unoaked Chardonnay. Music is big band, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.

Located from the Private Bank Theatre, the staff was great! The drink menu was designed to compliment the popular musical. It included a federalist wine list and specialty drinks including a Brandy Alexander Hamilton! The cheese board is a treat and the creme brûlée can't be beat.

I went to the Grillroom with my boyfriend, sister, and her fiance before seeing Hamilton. The service was great and the food was even better. I recommend trying a Hamilton themed drink if you get the chance - the "Hamil-teeny" was delicious.

This place was amazing, they knew we had tickets to see Hamilton and were able to get a group of 8 of us fed and out within hour, that's with appetizers, drinks and steaks! the service and food were fabulous, would recommend especially for anyone going to the theater across the street.

This is the perfect place to dine before Hamilton at the CIBC Theatre, as it's right across the street and the food is really good. As is the service. The staff pay attention to the timing, aware many diners are trying to make a show. But it would be worth trying even if you're not going to the theater. The filet was perfect, and the sautéed green beans divine. My fellow diners complimented the salmon, as well. The Hamilton drinks are fun. Warning: It's easy to drink more than one.

This restaurant is excellent, and it's so convenient before or after going to The PrivateBank Theatre, which is right across the street. The servers are wonderful and used to getting you out in time for the curtain call. We ate there before seeing Hamilton (amazing!), and we enjoyed it tremendously. We enjoyed fabulous salads and entrees of steak, pork chops, and scallops. And there is a delightful list of Hamilton-themed cocktails that are really fun. Highly recommended.

This is directly across the street from the theater. Made reservations at 5:45. Had plenty of time to have a drink and eat. No dessert. Food was excellent but pricey and wait service was very prompt. But when you are taking your wife to Hamilton for her Christmas present you go for the gold.

OMG! The food here is absolutely delicious and so are the cocktails. The ambiance of the restaurant is great and so is the location. The service was great as well. This is a place that I would go to over and over. There is no use in telling you what to try on their menu because you will enjoy whatever you order. All I can say is, if you are in Chicago, don't sleep on this restaurant! It is one of the best in the city!!

We had dinner here before Hamilton, great dinner, extremely convenient, great service, wonderful steaks, cannot go wrong!

great food, atmosphere and the prices may not be great but they're good. right in downtown near DePaul university and its romance brings you in the food will keep you coming back for more..... bon appetit

Excellent food, great service. Close to Palmer House and downtown attractions. Highly recommended for a nice dinner.

Went in here for a drink and some appetizers as it was opposite the theatre where we were going to see Hamilton. They had cocktails called after the Hamilton characters which was quirky , they were very good and not too expensive either. Our appetizers were delicious....bruschetta and scallops. Service could have been faster but it was Saturday night and they were super busy. Would definitely return if in the area again.

Great meat. Fresh baked bread. Jazz music in the background and the dark wood interior create a classical setting. Friendly service. Good place for a meal in the Sth Loop of Chicago.

My husband and I were up in the city overnight to see Frankie Valli at the Auditorium Theatre. Out in the far south suburbs where we live, we have only your mass-market chain "Roadhouse" type places, so we decided to whoop it up and try an authentic Chicago steakhouse to round out what was a very extravagant weekend for us. We booked the Grillroom on OpenTable but in order to make our show we had to book for 5:15, and this was at about 5pm. Nothing was available after that for more than an hour, which would have been too late. We had to cover a few blocks quickly on foot from our hotel, the Congress Plaza. We did arrive about 5 minutes late but were seated immediately and had a lovely evening with everything we expected. Since the restaurant is directly across from the theatre showing Hamilton, they are used to show-attendees and keep service moving so everyone makes their curtain time. My husband went with the surf and turf special which included sides. I had a steak salad, which by steakhouse standards would qualify as a "best value" at under $25, and the steak was cooked exactly as I requested (rare and it was very tender and tasty). Both meals were excellent and more than we could eat comfortably, not that that stopped us. This was not a budget type of meal, but we felt it was reasonably priced overall for the quality and experience. We felt welcomed and well cared for by our server; the expected very courteous but not bothersome attention. We were dressed for the evening, but not fussily so, in slacks and nice tops (husband was in a nice polo, I was in a dressy shell and sweater). We felt perfectly fine compared to the other customers; many were dressed similarly, though some came in suits/ties and more formal dresses. Would very happily visit again.

We were a little nervous being from out of town and wanted to find something great to eat near theater. We were so happy with our choice. This wonderful place is literally across the street from the show. We made reservations late in the day and was surprised that many options were available. But all worries went away when our waiter asked if we were here for the show. He kept time for us and let us know when to head out for maximum enjoyment. Friends both had white fish and both plates were wiped clean. I had the tuna tartar and it was amazing. So glad we made this choice. Everyone was incredible !

We stopped in for cocktails and a light meal before the theater. The service was wonderful, they are very mindful of showtime, as it is right across the street from the theater. Both food and cocktails were delicious.

We enjoyed excellent serivce and a high quality meal from a diverse menu. We would return to this restaurant again.

My family and I dined at this restaurant before attending Hamilton. We were thrilled to discover that it is literally across the street from the CIBC Theatre...so rather than waiting in a long line to go to our assigned seats...we watched the crowd dwindle while we enjoyed a yummy dessert. The filet was done to perfection...so much so that my daughters wanted to share one, too. The mac n cheese with BBQ pork was decadent but a bit too rich for a main course for my daughter. I enjoyed the seafood special...scallops served with veggie risotto. It was delicious! Our server was informative, attentive, and personable :-) I would definitely return!

Had lunch at the Grillroom while staying across the street at the Hampton. The food was fantastic, as was the service. The atmosphere was a bit formal for my taste, but not so much that I felt uncomfortable. I would absolutely consider the Grillroom on my next visit to Chicago.

Great classic steak dinner. Excellent service and perfect spot for dinner before you see Hamilton. Excellent Hamilton inspired cocktails

We truly enjoyed our visit. Our daughter is a very picky eater, and it was no problem to adjust the menu to satisfy her with our waiter Nick giving us some suggestions like adding a side of French fries, which were really crispy and delicious. From the rosemary chicken to the mac and cheese to the desserts, the meal was extremely enjoyable as was the atmosphere. It was very conveniently located across the street from our hotel and the theatre. I would definitely come back here again.

We brought 16 of our business colleagues to The Grillroom Chophouse & Wine Bar. We had a private room. Service was implacable, prompt and friendly. We started with an outstanding seafood tower with fresh seafood. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. The restaurant is very pleasant, nicely decorated. This is an outstanding restaurant, especially for large groups.

Right across the street from the theater where Hamilton is playing. We made reservations which I recommend. Service is good. Food is just ok in my opinion. Between the four of us, we had the salmon, filet mignonette, and chicken. Side dishes include the mashed potatoes, pulled pork Mac n cheese, grilled asparagus and a Waldorf salad. My chicken was just ok. The Mac n cheese was a little dry. The salmon and filet were on point-delicious. For dessert we shared an apple dumpling which no one really liked because the crust was very tough. It was rubbery. I’ve had better meals and desserts in Chicago for way less than the price we paid. However, the Waite staff and convenience to the theatre is beyond measure.

Lots of variety of entrees Great service - pleasant & fast Avoid the spicy crab Mac & cheese. Not very spicy and very little crab I I would avoid the Spicy Cran T

We chose this restaurant because it was across the street from "Hamilton" and we wanted to avoid the hassle of going to two different locations. We made a 530pm reservation for a 730pm show. That gave us plenty of time for cocktails, food, and conversation. The food was very good, as was the service.

Food was uninspired and certainly not steakhouse quality. $74 for a Kansas City Strip Steak that was small, not juicy, + over-peppered. Sides were skimpy and very plain. "Loaded" baked potatoe was barely warm. Server was inexperienced, untrained, and unattentive (shame on management!) Almost $400 for 4 unsatisfied customers. Stay away. There are lots of quality steakhouses in Chicago. This is not one is them. Stay away

We made a reservation to go here prior to seeing the musical across the street. Thanks to light traffic (a miracle in itself), we arrived 45 minutes early and since our table was ready, they seated us early, even though two people in our party of 7 hadn't arrived yet. We ordered appetizers and drinks while we waited - bruschetta and the charcuterie tray - I would recommend both. The lobster truffle mac and cheese was excellent, as well as the brussel sprouts. Three minor faults that would not deter me from going back: my mom's filet was pretty fatty (the other 3 filets were perfectly cooked), the women's bathroom is very small (so if you're there before a show, don't wait until the last minute), and we had to flag our waiter down to get drink refills. On a positive note, they alerted the restaurant when we should get our check so we could get to the show on time, which I thought was nice.

the restaurant is very nice, warm, the quality of the food is very good. We had meat, a tomahawk but the price was to expensive, 180 dollars, too much for, I guess, 1 kg of meat and compared with other restaurants I have been all around the world. Quality overall was really good.

With colleagues clamouring for meat we chose here, fortunately just after theatre goers were off to their shows. The filet mignon and porterhouse steaks were outstanding, the fries and green vegetables right on point and a colleagues salad was fresh, full of great ingredients and the beer was grand too - a big success for the carnivores !

We visited and enjoyed chops and other grilled food. Prices and service were good, the music a little too loud for a half full place, it made it slightly overbearing. That is the only gripe 🙂

My couples group had a nice evening out at the restaurant. The servers and wait staff were attentive and speedy but did not rush us. Our server had excellent recommendations for dinner. We had some steaks, pork chops, and some salad entrees. Everything was well seasoned, well cooked, and just right temp wise. We had some lovely cocktails and some wine too. All around a great evening. We will definitely come back!

We came here twice because it was close to our hotel and they had TV screens (World cup time ) and it was ok. The service was very average and the food as well. We had drinks and snacks and it was just average. Nothing extra there just food and drinks and so so service.

The food was good. It wasn't the best steak and food overall, but food overall. The drinks were very good! But the best part was the service- waitress, assistants, and speed of the food. The price is a little salty but perfect location before watching Hamilton. Family friendly atmosphere that is worth a visit.

We had my birthday dinner here just before going across the street to see Hamilton. It was a perfect location and an excellent dinner. The service was very good too.

I made a reservation for 6:00 p.m. in order to leave enough time to see Hamilton across the street. Our Server asked if we were pre or post show and said he would accommodate accordingly. We were pre-show and thought we had plenty of time. While the Server was attentive, he left for long periods of time. Unfortunately, we were celebrating our 35th Anniversary and he did not leave us enough time for Dessert and a Champagne toast. Food was OK, nothing spectacular, especially for the cost.

Delicious food and atmosphere. The salmon and caper sauce was absolutely delightful. Excellent wine selection, all at Chicago prices. This is not a cheap meal, it was worth every cent!

The service was good (only about 5 tables full), and we loved the artichoke appetizer. But both the filet and salmon were over cooked. Not something you expect in an empty steakhouse. Definitely not worth the money or your time. So many better places to eat at this price point.

my sister and I were there for dinner last night. I had their sesame ahi tuna. it was fabulous! my sister had one of their beef entrees. I had their carrot cake for dessert. it was sweet end to a delicious dinner. my sister had their crème brulee. she said her was delicious. nick, our waiter, was wonderful. after we were done with dinner, we walked across the street to see Hamilton.

Ate here (without a reservation) on a "dark" night at the CBIC theater across the street (which is probably why we didn't need a reservation). Good menu. Good food. Good service.

Pretty busy night I went. I chose a filet mignon steak rare, with smoked mushrooms and onions as a side. Steak tender and cooked as i wanted. The side was as tasty as i guessed it would be. All washed down with Argentinian Malbec. General ambience is modern a spacious but very easy. The staff very friendly and helpful.

This restaurant is literally across the street from Chicago's Private Bank Theater where Hamilton is playing. It made for a relaxing dinner to know we just had to cross the street to see the show. I heard people head there for wine at intermission as well. The menu was typical chop house which I find a bit boring. There was more seafood than typical. The wine list was extensive. Everything was tasty and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would have liked to see more salads etc on the menu but all in all, it was a very nice meal

Four of us ate here as it was right across the street from the theater. We started with melt in your mouth warm bread. Three people got salads with pears and goat cheese that looked and tasted yummy. A side of chicken was huge. I had veggie mac and cheese. Very tasty and a good variety of veggies. Best deal was gelato for dessert. A nice single scoop was only $3. Good service that caters to theater time. I'd eat here again.

We chose this restaurant because it is right across from the CIBC Theatre where we were seeing Hamilton. We wanted to be close. We booked our reservation through Open Table which was easy. They weren’t overly busy and we were able to take our time through all our courses. Service was impeccable and the food wonderful. In our party we had salmon, chicken, steak & lobster. We all loved our meals. Creme brûlée for dessert with coffee. Prefect!

How nice to be able to splurge a bit for a pre or post theater dinner. Service was excellent; food was perfect. We had drinks, rolls with butter while we waited for our entrees. Filet was cooked to perfection; ordered a side of very fresh Caesar salad and macaroni and cheese to share. Shrimp cocktail was very good. We will definitely make a return visit.

We ate at this restaurant just before seeing Hamilton. It is directly across the street - good taste and upscale, it felt like something I'd seen on Food Network. My wife and I shared the pork chop - which was amazing, and the spicy crab macaroni and cheese, along with a lettuce wedge salad. I didn't care too much for the mac and cheese, as I felt it was a little dry. For desert - we had the Tres Leches - a 3 milk/cream sponge cake with strawberries that was also very good. It definitely complemented the evening, I would recommend eating here before going to see Hamilton. Our bill was around $50, which I felt was very good.

Good place for steak before theater across from Private Bank Theater. Very vibrant bar scene that makes a quiet dinner not possible. But good food and service.

I enjoyed the Filet Mignon. It was $30 for just the 8oz. Filet and jus. I ordered the green beans ($8)for a side and they were delicious. Others in my party had pasta and pork. All was delicious. It was a great location from our hotel and to the CIBC Theater for Hamilton.

Located directly across from the CIBC Theater - home to Hamilton - this is a great restaurant for a pre-show dinner. Reservations were easy to make on OpenTable, and the staff was efficient and attentive. The steaks were delicious, and my daughter really enjoyed her pork chop as well. It was not an inexpensive meal, but it was worth the splurge and added to our evening at the show.

This is a great place to grab dinner before going to the theatre right across the street. Food is very good and portions are large. Service is very good also and there is a nice bar area.

Recently my wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with a quick trip to Chicago for dinner and a Show. I had secured two house seats for Hamilton and needed the perfect dinner location to make the evening complete. Upon the recommendation of a friend I made a reservation at the Grillroom Chophouse and I am so glad I did. The service was amazing and the food was outstanding. The location is ideal as you can literally cross the street just minutes before the curtain rises and not feel rushed. Thank you so much for being a part of our perfect evening.

this is a great restauarant, reasonably priced with a great tasting broad menu. Fish dishes were great as was the meat. The burgers are a particular dlicacy here. Well worth a repeat visit.

We made a reservation for dinner before we went to see the 8pm Hamilton show, which is right across the street. Our table was ready on time and the service was great. Our server was prompt and knowledgeable. Our steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly. The Mac and Cheese was amazing. We only needed about an hour for dinner but stretched it out so we weren’t too early for the show. If you are going to Hamilton, this is the place to eat before or after the show.

Went to see Hamilton at the CIBC Theatre, and the Grillroom is right across the street. That said, the food was terrific, and the service was very good. So, while they are convenient located near the theatre, the food and staff are the stars of the show.

If you're looking for a fine Chicago steak along with great service, this is the place. Across the street from the hotel in which I stayed, this restaurant was an inviting place to try and I'm glad I did. The service was very attentive and the steak cooked to a medium rare perfection. I'll definitely visit this restaurant again on my next visit to Chicago.

I met some former colleagues for what turned out to be a long lunch, due to our need to catch up and our waiter’s savvy to not rush us. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. The quite, calm ambiance was perfect for a business lunch. Tables are sufficiently spaced so there is a sense of privacy. I enjoyed the seafood gumbo, perfectly presented and right out of New Orleans. My colleague’s had the Cesar salad as a main course and a fish entree. Both were generous portions so doggy bags were needed. Will return for business lunch and highly recommend.

Directly across from the CIBC theater and a fantastic place for lunch (and I'm sure dinner) It's hard to distinguish between "locals" from visitors in Chicago but there was quite a mix here. Excellent food and service. If you want a flavor of the Chicago Loop area this is a great place. I had a very cold draft (good selection of drafts) and a Southwest Salad. My wife had the seafood bisque and the Grilled Pear Salad. Both excellent. Timothy, the server was the ice on the cake. We made online reservations from their website and glad we did. It was full but we got right in.

Very good food and nice stuff. A lot of wines but a bit high prices. Overall it was a nice experience ☺️. Will definitely come back!

We were staying across the street for Hamilton the next day and had arrived a day early. Chicago friends recommended the Grillroom and we were not disappointed. It was perfect and we were not rushed. Two of us had the Herb-Crusted Whitefish and one had steak and another the Seared Organic Salmon. We were all very pleased with our selections and as one of us had an onion allergy, that person was happy how well this was addressed.

Our first trip after a year. How fortunate we were to have a dinner at The Grillroom.Kevin, our waiter, was enthusiastic and encouraging. Jason, the manager, was gracious and generous. We basically ordered a tasting menu of the appetizer selections. Delicious! The pear salad, the roasted Brussels sprouts, the sausages....and the rest. All delightful. I want to cook like that!

We thoroughly enjoyed our specialty drinks, Grillroom salads, 8 oz. filets cooked perfectly, side dish of mashed potatoes, and apple tart. But even better than the food was our server, Tim. He made us feel at ease and unrushed from the minute we sat down. He gave us tips throughout the evening regarding our upcoming theater experience, including the best time to walk across the street to the theater to avoid the big crowd. Tim was attentive without hovering and made sure we were happy with each part of our meal. He was genuinely concerned about us and each table he served, adjusting his service based on the group and their seating compared to the show time. The Grillroom is the perfect dinner experience before the theater. And Tim made it extra special!

Right across the street from the theater. What fun the Hamilton themed cocktails are! The steak and fish were both great! The service was very good.

Went there by myself and arrived just as the theatre crowd was emptying. Sat at the wine bar and once I ordered my food I basically was forgotten about. I sat with dirty plates while the bartender talked to a pair of loud and obnoxious guests. For a chophouse they have a limited steak menu and for a wine bar they had limited open bottle selections. Go somewhere else for a better experience.

The only criticism is that they don't have Ribeye steaks for Seniors (meaning smaller portions). In fact, their portions are too large in general for Seniors. The prices were reasonable for the amount and quality of food you get. We would eat there again if they trim their portions.

Very spacious restaurant with a well stocked bar. This was my first visit and I went with their "American White Fish" entree. It was prepared well and was an enjoyable meal even though it was some sort of mystery fish that they couldn't or wouldn't identify. Even so, I'll go back for their seafood and would like to try their steak or chop options. Service was OK but it did slow down at the end, waiting for the final bill to be returned, but otherwise it was a pleasant visit.

My wife and I have been to this restaurant a few times, and the prior trips were 5 stars for certain, but this time there was a major misstep with my meal. This time we took our whole family to dinner prior to attending Hamilton right across the street. We still had excellent service from our very enthusiastic and hard-working waiter. The beverages were all very tasty (dirty martinis) and the appetizers and soups were terrific. The waiter did a fantastic job of pacing the meal so that we were not rushed, and the steaks and crab macaroni were terrific all around. However, my pork chop was truly one of the worst I have ever had. I ate about a third and did not say anything to the waiter as not to derail our otherwise perfect evening, not to mention there was not time for any sort of ‘redo.’ In any case, for as good as everything was, the pork chop was equally bad. It was tough (bad piece of meat) and dry as a desert (poor preparation). I now know why they gave me a small cup of its juice with it, but even that could not make it palatable. A chop this thick should be cooked medium in the center at most and only more under the protest of the chef, and mine was just way over done. That said, correct cooking would not have been able to offset the toughness in the meat either. This was just a miss overall, and I suspect that it does not happen often here. Again, I could have brought this to their attention, and I would have gotten another chop or a correction in our bill, but on a tight schedule, and an otherwise delightful evening, I opted to pass. Regardless, we’ll be back for our next show, but I’ll move away from my go to ‘pork chop’ and opt for a steak next time.

We are here before the Hamilton show. We were short on time and late for our reservation. They were very accommodating and got us seated and served promptly. I ordered the Mac and cheese with bbq and half Caesar salad. The Mac and cheese was just average, nothing special. The Caesar salad was very fishy due to the anchovies. I didn't enjoy this or the salad dressing. My mom had the steak salad, which she really enjoyed. The prices were not unreasonable for Chicago. I would possibly go back, if going to a nearby show, but would order something different.

Arrived at the restaurant at 5:50 for 6:00 dinner reservation. Thought we had plenty of time before the show. Even told the waitstaff that we (like everyone in the restaurant) had theater tickets for 7:30 show. Unfortunately our dinner arrived @ 7:03 PM. In addition to being rushed, so as not to miss the opening act, the steak was tough and over cooked. Not sure I would return again.

Birthday celebration. Our server pushed us until I said slow down. Drinks good. Fish smothered in red sauce, pork chop good filet undersized, not to advertised weight, but good plates were cold. Crispy Brussels sprouts served cold. They forgot to bring birthday celebration

This is my second visit to this restaurant. Both times service and food were very good. We made reservations, but were early. No problem, the table was ready. It was very busy, Private Bank Theatre right across the street, and Chicago Theatre right down the road, but the staff was on top of everything. The server does immediately ask if you're going to a show and which one, so they can pace the dinner to make sure you are out in time. Drinks/wine were good, steak and seafood prepared as we requested and served in a timely, but not rushed manner. I like this place, and will be back.

Upon entering softly lit restaurant, we were greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us in Timothy's section. He quickly came and provided warm breads and butter and took our cocktail order. Our first course of shrimp cocktail arrived fresh and well chilled. The second course clam chowder came warm and nicely seasoned. The other course of pear salad contained a generous portion of blue cheese, candied pecans in a mixture of arugula, radicchio and endive lettuces. It was dressed very nicely in a poppyseed dressing. We both ordered their special of surf and turf. My steak was all to chewy and I was unable to eat it. The lobster did turn out correctly steamed, very nice texture. My dining partners steak was altogether different. It was tender and tasty. The cheesy mashed potatoes that accompanied the meal were excellent. Our server provided a complimentary bread pudding for dessert in an effort to make up for the inedible steak. The bread pudding was a hit.

Steaks cooked well, friendly service. Wasn’t hardly anyone there, which was odd. I would visit this restaurant again.

Jesse was our waiter and paid attention to every detail...so helpful with suggestions when deciding on our entree and sides. Will absolutely eat here again, can't wait to go back. Excellent location if going to CIBC Theatre.

Ate here before seeing Hamilton. Delicious meal, 4 people-2 had Filet Mignon, one had the herb-crusted whitefish, and one had the Carbonara. . Everything was cooked to perfection. Filet was melt in your mouth good. The Carbonara could have been shared by 2 people. The filet's were served with a whole baked garlic, and sides were extra. My sisters chose the steamed green beans, and crispy baby marble potato's. We enjoyed everything. Service was very attentive, but not hovering. We were allowed to enjoy our meal at a leisurely pace. Would definitely go back again when in Chicago.

This restaurant is across the street from the theater that Hamilton is being presented, making the location the best part of the restaurant. Specialty cocktails are all Hamilton-themed which is kind of a fun twist. Service was ok. The food was nothing spectacular. I had the Spicy Crab Mac and Cheese and it had only minimal crab and was far from spicy- very disappointing. Prices were reasonable given it's location. If you're hungry, this will be a good choice as long as you are not expecting fine dining or good food.

We had dinner here before going across the street to see Hamilton. The staff was professional, friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and the wine list is very good. The steaks were outstanding as were the side dishes and the desert that we split. A great evening of dining and theater!
Outstanding experience!
We were in town for Hamilton and decided to eat here as it’s right across the street from the theater. What a great find! Wonderful food and excellent service. Our waiter was Brendon who was one of the best servers I’ve had in a very long time. Had the gumbo soup and crab sandwich. Really tasty. Definitely recommend!!
