Came here to celebrate a great accomplishment of a co-worker. We reserved the back room which was great and looked out on the park. Service was great! The tuna ahi tacos were the best. Bacon wrapped quail was equally good. For main course we had salmon and steak. Both were really good but not the best I've had. Would definitely try this place again.

The Grove has a nice view of the mature oaks in the park. The large downstairs dining room is noisier than anticipated in a room with a wood ceiling and a wood floor, but table conversation is not difficult. Dome peanuts and olives were provided before the ordered food, but no bread. My fish (halibut) was good, but not great. Service was OK, but not particularly friendly or attentive.

Loved our dinner at the Grove. Wonderful food and service. Very attentive waiters and servers. Right across the street from the Hilton Americas Hotel. They offer gluten free selections and are quite knowledgeable.

We are visiting Houston and stumbled upon this restaurant. We had a light late lunch here so we ordered appetizers so we wouldn’t ruin our plans for dinner. We had oysters on the half shell. In our taste test, the east coast beat the third coast. Though the third coast oysters were meatier, the east coast oysters were more flavorful. We also had the beet hummus. It was delicious. The flat bread provided was also okay. Our server, Simone made all the difference. She was kind and joyous. Her knowledge about the food and drinks impeccable. She recommended a top shelf tequila, brought us all three sauces for our oysters all with a joyous smile even though she was masked. We could feel her warmth and hospitality. We had to warm the hostess up a bit as she seemed cold and bothered. The restaurant also had compassion for the homeless, which made me more endeared to them. I would definitely come back.

Went with my husband who traveled to Houston for Business. We stayed at the Hilton of the Americas right across the street. It's a charming area with a lot to see and do and several good restaurants on the block. We chose The Grove because of it's short walk and inviting decor. The menu is a sophisticated Southwest cuisine and everything we ate was delicious.

Gorgeous view of the trees and Discovery Green park. Attended a beautiful wedding on the upper floor. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. It was a lovely event and this restaurant was an elegant location for such an occasion. There was free valet parking and it was easy to get in and out.

Based on a personal recommendation, I ordered the salmon. It did not disappoint! It was cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The mushrooms were also cooked well (not slimy). The lime cream sauce was light and didn't overpower the other flavors. I polished off the dish and savored every single bite. Pleased to see some Oregon wines, pinot noirs and pinot gris, on the wine list. Quiet and serene, late lunch on a Saturday afternoon.

Located in Discovery green and with a full wall of windows looking out in the park and beautiful decks this restaurant has a beautiful view and wonderful setting. There’s a large bar area and a private room as well. It’s truly breathtaking. The service is good. The menu is hit or miss - can be great but could be better much of the time to match the setting.

My husband and I arrived in the Houston downtown area hungry. We took a short walk from our hotel and stumbled on The Grove in the Discovery Green. We didn’t want to fil, up because we had dinner plans. We had delicious appetizers: salmon deviled eggs and guacamole salad. Both were really tasty. Our server Katy was very friendly, helpful, and efficient. She provided some good advice about wine and beer.

It’s day one of the conference and McAllisters is packed along with all of the Pappas restaurants. Somehow we stumble upon The Grove via Yelp. It’s this inconspicuous restaurant facing the opposite direction of the convention center but to the left of the Hilton. It’s easy to miss it as it blends well into Discovery Green. But I’m glad we found it. Upon arriving it took some time to be addressed even though we were sitting at the bar. We were able to order, eat and be out in about 30 minutes. My colleague had the spicy shrimp salad which she said was a bit hotter than expected but good. I had the shrimp salad minus greens with corn. Greens weren’t even an option but it should have been. It was just a lot of stuff and it felt like all it was missing was Greens. And I wouldn’t even add any dressing. But nonetheless it was good. If you try it, suggest adding some leafy greens, to enhance the presentation and accompany the dish. I didn’t see much on the menu that would beg a return so I don’t believe I would intentionally return. However, I appreciated my meal experience. The restaurant is clean and presents an earthy/farm to table vibe. Give it a try. I hope you find this review helpful.

It isn't easy serving a large party, but our waiter seemed to know exactly when to step in and when to hang back to avoid interfering with our conversations. People at my table ordered a variety of dishes, from fish to meat to salads, and everyone was satisfied. The waiter was subtle, but effective, in his up-selling. The group had requested separate bills when setting up the event, and while I appreciate that they were willing to do this (not easy), it did take far too long to get the bills to us. Otherwise, it was a lovely evening.

The place is always crowded but I don’t get it. The menu is ok but the portions are small and the price tag high. Guess the location is why they have a good business

Sorry but I was expecting more when I made the reservation. Service was excellent, but was not expecting that main portion of the menu are sandwiches. And too pricey for a very generic experience. Won't be a place I will go again.

Rarely do we eat somewhere and everything is perfect. The attentive service we received from Braunsen made the dining experience complete. He was very good conversationalist and we enjoyed meeting him. A friend had told us this was a great place to eat. It was also Houston Restaurant Week so we were be able to take advantage of a complete dinner for a very reasonable price. We both chose the chicken tortilla soup, followed by salmon and pork chop entrees. We are not big dessert people but the Dulce De Leche and PineApple cake were worth every calorie. Definitely would eat here again and again. Nice atmosphere and we picked an evening when not too busy.

Very serene place and park. Nice to stroll and have a look at. Near Toyota centre. THe place is clean

This place is tucked away at the edge of a park hidden behind trees a 2 minute walk from the Convention Center. Sophisticated, great cocktails and local food. Separate gluten free menu. Excellent food, good atmosphere.

Sorry, owners of the Grove. On our dinner visit, the food was no better than Luby's cafeteria (that's poor quality for you non-Houstonians). For example, we hated the 1/2 chicken on black eyed peas - no flavor, no spices, not inventive or tasty. The other diners were equally unimpressed with other items. The worst part: The Grove is brutally expensive. Expensive, crazy expensive. The night we visited - prior to an Eagles concert - the place was jammed. Long lines to get in. They would not accept reservations via phone, but suggested that we visit at 5pm for a bar table. We did. We got a decent bar table for four. In spite of the frenetic activity, our waiter was good with immediate service. Busy, but attentive. All things considered, never again. Please fix the food Mr. Grove Chef.

An amazing brunch experience with family and friends. Service excellent and the food was incredible. A truly fabulous dining experience. Downtown Houston, a must in my next trip. I don't believe you'll be disappointed.

I first visited the Grove on Friday the 26th and had the best happy hour drinks. Our waitress recommended we return on Sunday for Brunch and we did. OMG it was delicious. There was so much to offer that I could not possible taste all of it. From tacos, to brisket, to eggs benedict to french toast and other wonderful eats. I just could not taste it all. The coffee was great and so were the mimosas! Def. a place I will need to go back to .. but I think I will refrain from eating two days prior in order to enjoy all of it!

Went there with my son in from out of town. He is a foodie. We had appetizers that were superb. I want to return for dinner.

I was recommended this place from a person who lives in Houston. I was visiting for a convention and was on my own that evening. You can be casual in this place but it really is fine dining. Great wine list and knowledgeable staff concerning the wines. I had the fish fritters and the shrimp pasta primavera. They were both delicious. I could have just had the fritters and would have been satisfied. Highly recommend if you are staying in the area.

Found this place on TripAdvisor and thought we’d give it a try. It was fantastic. If you’re over by the convention center, give this place a try. The Third Coast Seafood Roll may just be the best seafood roll I’ve ever had, and the salad was crisp and refreshing. Reservations are recommended, even for lunch.

This is my second trip to The Grove and sadly it will likely be my last. The location and setting is very nice and it has all the potential to be a top-tier restaurant. But…the service was completely inattentive and poor. By far the worst service I’ve had at a restaurant in this category. We were a large group of 9 and were prepared to spend a lot of money on food and drinks but we were ignored most of the night. Several of our food orders were screwed up. Overall, the food was pretty good but given the the lacking service, it wasn’t worth the money. I would recommend walking across the street to the Hilton and eat at the Cantina near the lobby. Fast service, good food, and the drinks will flow. For more detail on my rating system - here are my “5 by 5” rating notes. I wound up here after searching downtown for a reasonably priced steak. Here on business travel, and did not want to break the bank at Morton's, Papa Brothers, or others on dinner. Unfortunately, I did not find what I was looking for ... The restaurant is conveniently located in the convention / downtown hotel district, on the edge of Discovery Green. It's a great location, and the restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. I agree with other reviews, great ambiance and very warm/inviting - downtown and trendy. The server (Jeffrey) was fabulous, despite the fact that he was attempting to keep pace with a table of 10 to my right as well as 2-3 other tables. Service was prompt and courteous. The menu is limited (creative, but limited), and most items were reasonably priced (small plates, salads, appetizers, and large plates) - everything but the steaks. The 8 oz. Filet was $46.50, and the 18 oz. Ribeye was $49. In my opinion, way out of line with other menu items. I was desperate, so I ordered the filet. It was cooked to perfection (medium) and extremely tender, but slightly cool when it arrived at the table. I've had better, larger cuts for much less. It was served with grilled vegetables (heavily seasoned - overdone) on a separate plate. I also ordered an extra side of "crab boiled potatoes" - unfortunately, also served on a separate plate, and appeared/tasted like basic diced potatoes (think diced hash browns). For $7 I expected more - underwhelmed. Great location, great atmosphere, and great service, but the food was average at best. Steaks and other items "Live Oak Grilled" are priced about $10-$15 over where they should be.

This has to be the best brunch deal in town, with a three course prix fixe for $20! That is not a typo. Our group of nine tried the deviled eggs with salmon, the romaine heart salad which is there take on Caesar but even better, and the soup of the day which was a tasty purée of kale, cauliflower and potato, with truffle oil, mint and crostini with goad cheese. For entrees the group tried the French toast, the croque Madame, the shrimp and grits, the BLAT with habanero bacon, and the brunch classic. All were incredibly good and the with delicious home fries or twice fried shoestring potatoes. The definite highlight of the meal were the multiple pound cake selections that included Meyer lemon with blueberries and lavender glaze, chocolate pound cake with coconut and Nutella, and the best which was brown butter with pecan glaze. Not drinkers but the mimosas were also selling like hot cakes, and refilled for a penny! Again best deal in town, with fantastic setting among the live oaks in discovery green.

Dinner at the Grove with family of 4, all adults, was pleasant. The drinks we had were better than any I've had at other restaurants. I grew tired of ordering a drink and continually find it to be weak. Not at the Grove. I had Ruby Red with tonic and line and it was GOOD. The New Fashioned was good too, really have a bold bourbon taste. They like habero here...it's in the salad, and food...liberally. I had the gouper, it was a 3"x3" square in a large plate with plenty of "flair" to impress. I'd rather have a meal than a good picture opportunity. Our server was great, juggled us and a table of 8 women. Why is there always a woman at the other table with a penetrating nasally voice that she MUST raise to be heard over the din of the room??? Well, I'll tell ya, she had a tubal pregnancy that didn't go so good. Hope you get better sweetie. All in all, I'd go back and try the place out again. Earlier the better...gets cacophonic around 7:30.

We got the cheese plate and salad which were absolutely delicious and then the trout, which was fine but nothing special and the shrimp with grits which was loaded with chipotle chili and was so hot I couldn’t eat it. If you like hot you would probably like it. Atmosphere was nice and service was very good.

The atmosphere was wonderful. We had about 8 people and received excellent service. The food was excellent.

I've been here twice for large dinner parties. The filet and vegetables were excellent. You are in a glass building and depending on the time of day there may be people and children walking around and looking in, but it's not a problem. Food and service are excellent. Price depends on you menu selection and is probably moderate to expensive.

The proximity of this restaurant was perfect to our convention and hotel, however there are a lot of restaurants in the vicinity but this ones view and ambience pulled us in. The view of the city and lake is very relaxing while eating lunch as well as we got a chance to people watch. The food is OK very exotic but taste nothing to really brag about. The pricing is moderately low for the area. The happy hour was great!!!! Cool cocktails during the burning hot summer heat.

I wanted to give this place 4 stars because the service was awesome (very attentive and informative waiter) and the ginger margarita was absolutely delicious (I had two!). However, the food was very pricey and just okay. I had the salmon deviled eggs and the taste was muddled, no distinct flavors. I wouldn’t order it again. The steak tartare was a first for me, and I was wanting bold flavors. It was good, and I’d probably order it again. My entree was the $20 Blue Crab mac and cheese; it was delicious. I ordered the banana pudding tiramisu and it was definitely yummy, but in an oddly unique way. All in all, I enjoyed my meal and the restaurant itself. I just don’t know that it was worth the $150 tab. I guess my $13 cocktails added up quickly; the best part of my meal!

We came in for a business lunch around 2 or 2:30 last week and were sat promptly. It took a few minutes for our server, I think it was kristen, asked what we wanted to drink then didnt return for several minutes.. we then ordered our food and it came surprisingly fast! But it all went wrong when the check came. Apparently we weren't paying enough attention to paying our bill quick enough, as we were simply rushed to pay two or three different times while we tried to talk to our client. The sense of urgency was not appreciated and we will not be back again.

Attentive wait staff! Excellent ambiance! A+ for yesterday's visit and I'm definitely adding The Grove to my brunch go-to places. Sunday's (3-course) Brunch was $22/per person and worth every penny. I ordered the soup of the day (Vegetable Stew w/ Parmesan broth) to start and was satisfied and knew everything else had to be just as tasty. BBQ shrimp and grits for my main course and the pound cake for desert. ALL DELICIOUS! Also, they're $12 mimosa special = bottomless...they will keep your glasses filled to the rim without hesitation. Definitely no complaints there!

We were so pleased to be able to have dinner at the Grove Restaurant arriving without a reservation. Valet parking makes dinner at The Grove super easy. I think a reservation is a really good idea as the restaurant was super busy on a Wednesday night. The wine list features only wine by the glass and while not expensive had some nice wines. They even had a Texas wine but I chose to go with something more tested. I had the Gulf Shrimp on grits which was a bit spicy but really really good. My companion had a salad that looked fantastic. Service was great and the vibe was great too looking out onto beautiful Discovery Green Park in Downtown Houston right across from the Houston Convention Center. Very cool experience

Delicious chicken tortilla soup! The ingredients were quite fresh and all worked together to make an incredibly tasty meal. Even on a hot day, treat yourself to this gem!

One of the best meals we have had in a long time, and we come from a foodie city. The tortilla soup is a meal all by itself, with an added plate of possible additions including queso, avocado, fresh cilantro and limes( a must!), more crunchies, and a full grilled jalapeno. The sweet potato taquitos could also be a meal, with a stack of four. The salmon soba dish was delicious, with warm salmon cooked perfectly on a cool soba salad. Our server was genuinely warm and friendly. Beautiful two story windows all around, located inside Discovery Park.

Tucked off in a corner of el Parque de las Americas near the convention center, this restaurant is a wonderful retreat from Houston’s summer inferno. The menu consists of fresh and well prepared American pub food that is well plated and tasty. There is an ample drink list and beer list but all beers are cans or bottles. Located near the Four Seasons, Mariott Marque and Hilton, this restaurant will not disappoint.

A group of us went here for Happy Hour drinks and snacks. What a find! Very nice ambience. For out-of-towners, it is very close to Minute Maid baseball park and about a mile from Toyota Center (Rockets and concerts). For locals it's by Discovery Green. Super value happy hour drinks (sorry the photo is a little fuzzy). Three dollar beers, four dollar well drinks and five dollar wines that were a decent pour and taste. We ordered a bunch of their appetizers in flights, and they were all good. Tuna tartare mini tacos, beet hummus and flatbread, fried fish fritters, pork nachos, avocado toast (that even incorporated kiwi fruit pieces!). Even shrimp "corn dogs" (they come on a skewer, are breaded like a corn dog, and actually taste better than they sound). Service was attentive but not intrusive. The dinners we saw go by all looked delicious. The crab mac and cheese looked especially tantalizing as a side. Super great value, nice place, and tasty happy hour bites. We will definitely be going back, and probably staying for dinner next time.

Only place left was at the bar - but my fault did not make a reservation- good service at the bar - had the tuna salad fancy and good taste with a white sangria. Very noisy and would prefer outside next time.

If you are looking for a fresh view on traditional dishes this is the place to go. Great menu. Great service. The guacamole is fantastic!

Enjoyed a good meal with my spouse two nights ago. Very close to our hotel, and a pretty view with the trees outdoors decorated with lights. Attentive service, good wine list. The corn and avocado salad was great; my stuffed quail was fine if not exciting, and my spouse enjoyed the black drum. I wasn't planning on having dessert, but was glad I succumbed when the banana pudding tiramisu arrived.

Had a great lunch. The food was wonderful and the service outstanding. The waiter was very upbeat and knew the menu. His recommendations where spot on. The beet hummus was the surprise of the day. It was superb.

Excellent meal in a nice atmosphere. Our server Fernando was friendly and attentive and made the whole evening enjoyable. The food is a modern twist on many traditional dishes. It was well prepared, beautifully presented and delicious.

This was my second visit and it didn’t disappoint . My daughter and I split the beet hummus and it was amazing! She had the tuna poke and I had the burger. Everything was delicious!

I went here on my way out of town after a convention. I had made a reservation on OpenTable, but what I didn't realize was that they only serve brunch on Sundays. Having said that, I was pleasantly surprised by the offerings. They have everything from traditional breakfast foods (including an omelette station) to lunch items (including a meat carving station). There is a little bit of something for everyone. They also have drink specials - traditional brunch drinks for $15.00 with $.01 refills. The restaurant is next to Discovery Green, and it has nice views of the park. The staff was attentive and friendly and accommodated me with my suitcase and backpack.

My mother, fiancée, and I came to Discovery Green to look at the art installation going on in the park at the time. After we walked around for a little while, we wanted to grab a quick drink, and look at the installation from a different perspective. We knew that The Grove closed at 10:00 P.M., but because it was 9:45 P.M., we figured we could order a quick drink, pay our tab, and spend a few minutes sipping a good drink and looking at the view. How wrong we were. Soon after we walked through the doors, we were approached by a waiter or bartender, who informed us that they had already closed. We were taken aback by the blatant lie, but left rather than push it. It was already obvious we were unwelcome. We won't be returning. I get wanting to leave work as soon after your shift is over as possible, but that's just bad business. If you don't want our money, even just for one round of drinks, we're more than happy to take it elsewhere.

We had the special coronavirus take out - steak, kale Caesar salad, green beans and potatoes. It was amazing! And tips go to their servers. Thank you the Grove for doing this!!

In town for a conference and stayed at the Hilton. During our conference at lunch time, food trucks and the restaurants inside of the convention center always had long lines. My friend who was attending also remembered that there was a spot kind of tucked away that was in walking distance. We lucked up on The Grove and was I ever glad we did! It was crowded but the low tables around the bar were first come, first served. We got lucky and sat at a table that was recently vacated. Our waiter (didn't catch his name) came over and took our drink orders and by the time he made it back, we placed our food order. Service was quick, given the crowd. My friend and I both ordered the fish tacos, which came with a side of TX street corn. The only thing I regret about my order was that only two tacos came on the plate. The fish was flavorful and crispy, with a great creme sauce that complimented the fish well. The street corn was fantastic! I wish I could have gotten more of it as well! I enjoyed the food here so well, we ate here a second day. I ordered the catch of the day fritters, which were balls of heaven on a plate. The sauce they had with them was very tasty and I so wanted to lick the plate to get all of it. This is the first place I wish to visit if I ever make it back to Houston!

Our dinner and experience was fabulous. The food, service, and ambiance was stellar. We cannot wait to come back.

Party of 5 for Mother's Day. The three course meal was great and reasonably priced and the park side setting was perfect. This was my first brunch visit here and I plan to return. The eggs in purgatory was the table fav.

This is a great place for business lunch on the south side of downtown. Great menu, good service with a atmosphere for light hearted conversation. Strongly recommend for lunch or supper.

Interesting Food with a very good environment and location. Good menu for lunch and dinner at Houston downtown.

Our group of six arrived at 7PM for dinner and was sitter outside. All of the sudden, the water started pouring from the roof, like someone was poring it with a hose, for about 5 minutes. Maybe they were should nothing something on top, but it was really odd and unpleasant to have that right near the table. We were terrified it would happen on the other corner of the roof, which was right over our table. We felt t was not professional. The water arrived, I greeted her with a smile. She did not smile back. Maybe we should have just left right then, but I didn't think much of it other than it was rude. We ordered appetizers. We ordered red snapper but she said it was not available and the parched fish was not available either. Some people ordered crab mac & cheese. She took the order. In 7 mins or so she came back and said it was not available either. We were not served food until 8:16 PM. My fish of the day was dry and burned. All veggies that came with it were burned and smelled like smoke. Shrimp and grits were good but a bit too spicy. The rice bowl was good but be careful of the sauce that comes with it. My friend poured it all over and could not eat his meal because it was chili oil. Gnocchi were good but there were only 4 of them under veggies. The stuffed quail and quesadilla were 4 stars. It's too dark to eat. We needed to use iPhone flash light to see our meals. So, food is 3, service is 1. 2 starts average. Bottom line: go elsewhere. We regretted coming here.

Overlooking Discovery Park this is a nice location. I enjoyed a fresh salad with a nice piece of grilled salmon. The staff were nice and efficient.

Service was average at best trying to get us out as soon as possible. The ambience was also somewhat overrated with the echoing given the hard services So while other rated the restaurant highly to us it was average.

The Grove was located right across from the convention center and my hotel. I had the cauliflower dish, which was vegan. It had some spice to it, which was good. I would recommend it!

First, how do you run out of an entree at 7:00 pm on a Wednesday evening? The filet is so so Good location, great views / venue with unremarkable food

We attended a wedding reception here and we loved it! We loved how you can sit inside or outside. Even though we attended a wedding reception, I did look at the menu for lunch, dinner, and drinks, all looks so good. Can't wait to come back and enjoy this place on a nice day!

First time eating here with my husband. We had the deviled eggs upon seeing other reviews. Yummy and spicy!!! The staff was very attentive. Our server was great! I had the the fish in parchment paper. Very good. My husband had catch of the day. We enjoyed watching the people outside in Discovery Green relaxing, playing frisbee etc. Was a casual, relaxing atmosphere!!

During my recent visit to Houston I dined here twice. Both visits were lovely. Good food and excellent service

Took clients for late meal to wrap up meetings. Convenient to the Hilton and convention center. Drink selection was great food was good as well. I had the macaroni with lump crab and it was great. Several dishes ordered and there was no bad choice.

While in town for a concert, our friends and I had a late lunch at The Grove. All six of us ordered something different and all the meals were a bit spicy. Everything seemed to be prepared fresh and "from scratch". The atmosphere was pleasant with a park like setting outside the large windows. The service was good but we all felt like our waiter was trying for a larger tip (even though 20% was automatically applied for a party of 6). For lunch, it was a bit pricy.

Great location next to Discovery Green. Lots of other sights few steps away also, like Convention Center and Toyota Center(Rockets' home Arena). Stylish interior and their menu also looked nice, but we decided to have drinks on their terrace. Perfect place to spot people and watch all that hustle and bustle around.

Had a meal here while traveling alone for business. Had the short rib tacos. They were delicious. I'd order extra tortillas because they only serve you like three tiny ones. This is a very gourmet, high-end taco, my friends.

I thought the lunch menu was limited and overpriced. It was noisy due to bare floor and walls. We had to valet park which added a lot to the price. Service was good, but I would not go here again. Food was good, but not great.

Wow! The atmosphere and food was incredible! The best we had while in Houston. The service?... we apparently got a newbie, so not very memorable in that regard. The four of us were laughing as we were preparing to leave. Every plate looked like it had been licked clean. It was THAT good.

Great foodie place overlooking discovery green. Vegetarian friendly and plenty for the carnivores in the party. Decent selection of beer and a good vibe.

The service this time was abysmal and destroyed our dining experience. The dinner was served with no silverware before we even had the chance to order wine. The server was nowhere to be seen. The trout and quail dishes were tasteless and ill prepared. The quail tasted like mustard and the trout had uncooked Jerusalem artichokes and overcooked mushrooms and no taste. Based om 2 experiences my overall rating is at best now a 3 star based on ambiance and reasonable drink prices for the area.

We stopped in for lunch before flying out. Saturday at 11 am (right at opening time) was not crowded. Food was great (I had the BALT sandwich, excellent), good fries. They have multiple doors and the hostess was no where to be seen, so we sat ourselves, but were greeted very quickly.

I enjoyed visiting the grove restaurant while at a conference at the convention center. First enjoyed it for a drink would highly recommend the ginger margaritas! The setting was terrific .off the park . Have both inside and outside seating. Food was good service was excellent I would definitely return.

Met a colleague for pre dinner happy hour and discovered really great chips and 2 versions of salsa and $5 wine specials. Dinner was very good as well, the trout and pork chop entrees were excellent, as was the banana tiramisu and French press coffee. Would definitely return if I’m in the area.

Love the food. We stayed at hotel next door so we could walk over to eat on our annual baseball trek. Problem was we ate there Saturday and told server we were looking forward to Sunday brunch. She failed to mention the need for reservations. Arrived Sunday as doors were opening, before any guests were seated, and mgmt told us he could seat our family of four in 4 HOURS. Can only assume that all of North America appreciated my previous glowing review. Still great food and we will go back.

Had drinks on a monday evening. Nice place but the dog waste dumpster on the corner of the terrace is not a welcome sight next to you when you're trying to enjoy a warm Texas evening with friends.

We had a very nice dinner here with good service, as well. Convenient to the Convention Center, Toyota Center and Minute Maid Park. Lively bar scene and floor to ceiling windows overlooking a park. Fairly varied menu with good salads and entrees. Seemed popular with larger business groups. Valet parking available.

While I was not too impressed with Houston's city centre as a place to visit (went on a conference) as there is not much life in it (very little commercial actiivity and people on the street), but an effort has been made to create a multi-faceted green space in the centre, surrounded on 3 sides by 2 large hotels and the convention centre. Nice for a walk, activities for kids and clearly a place for entertainment.

Wonderful place to dine with family and friends. Excellent food, outstanding service in a wonderful setting.

Good food and service. Wall glasses to see the park outside. Excellent filet and local beer. Not cheap. U$70 for a good stake, beer and cake (with tip)

I was at The Grove for lunch recently and had a great experience. The food was delicious and the service exceptional. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly.

Went before a concert. Very nice atmosphere. Nice bar. Nice ambiance. Salads, soups, sandwiches, and dinners. The price of the dinners are a little high but not bad. Has private rooms available. Parking is a hassle like any downtown restaurant. It’s in walking distance to Toyota Center.

The location was nice. Parking was difficult, I saw a valet parking sign but saw no one there, I circled a several times. I ordered a reuben sandwich and it tasted like a bacon sandwich. The sauerkraut wasn't noticeable.

I made a reservation for a business group of 14 (turned out to be 11), and the Grove handled everything superbly. They called me in advance to verify the reservation, always a good idea! The ambiance is fine but not really that memorable. We were shown to our table immediately on arrival. Our waiter took the drink order almost immediately and took our dinner orders shortly after the drinks arrived. The menu is broad enough to appeal to most tastes, and as people were paying their own way, the price range of the entrees covered a good range. The entrees were served in good time except for one burger which was delivered first not as ordered. The replacement took longer than it should have, my only real issue. The food was probably worth four stars - very good but not oustanding. One person didn't like her roasted cauliflower entree, but I'm vegetarian and loved it. The separate checks were prepared and processed while we were eating dessert. The gratuity was included, but more than one person said they would have tipped more. (Obviously you can still do that!) We were in and out in 2 hours and it felt like a leisurely dinner.

Our team stopped here for a nice dinner. This is not a quiet restaurant by a long shot. The service was very nice and quick. The menu has lots of interesting selections that will get your tastebuds going. Plus a full bar and a nice selection of wine. The location offer outdoor seating and private rooms. The meal was spectacular!

Party of 4, the service was spectacular and the food was amazing. We started with queso and guacamole and our meals ranged from burgers to tuna. Can't go wrong with the blue crab mac-n-cheese or quesadilla. Setting was quite and very relaxing.

This is a really cook place to have a drink and hangout. It has a out doors area great for a party. The wait staff was really good.

Was here 2 nights in a row for 2 different events. Food was different each night, but everything was excellent from the rib to the chicken, the brisket and the pork.

Had dinner here our first night in Houston near our hotel. Ideally located within walking distance of several great hotels, TG has great atmosphere decor and food which made our first night memorable. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone. I want to give special praise to our server, Simone, who was just great. Was very patient with us, smiled, laughed with us and modified our orders toward our food sensitivities. She was great!!! Again, if ever in the Houston area, stop by The Grove. Two thumbs up!!

This restaurant is located next to the convention centre. Rather busy at weekends or at event times, But the waiters make their best to treat you well. But the waiters make their best to treat you well. The food is of good quality ( and quantity for those who like the quantity 😉) . I will certainely go back, when next time visiting Houston.

I recently ate at the Grove for a business dinner. I found the menu to be over ambitious; they complicated certain dishes with showy, overdone accents that would add nothing to the actual meal. Of course, I find this typical of any restaurant in a city downtown that is trying to be what they consider unique. That being said, I ordered one of the simplest items, a cheeseburger, and it was, in fact, very tasty. Nicely cooked to order, and don't forget to add the bacon. I will probably never eat here again due to the atmosphere simply being not to my style, but it was a decent meal, if you like that sort of vaguely trendy thing.

An unexpected joy! Came here for brunch and it was fantastic! Not the usual fare! Great penny mimosas & sangrias. We’ll be back!!

I got the crab and shrimp roll and it was absolutely fantastic. Never had a roll before and this was the best place to try it. It was fresh and there were large pieces of crab meat and shrimp. Side of fries was a little small. But overall the food was great!

We had small room for group get together. Very nice ambiance for group setting. Lots of glass-right next to small green space. Food was very good-great antipasto/charcuterie. Street corn was yummy, braised short ribs were terrific. Overall great experience.

I’m not a fan of beets, however...I highly recommend the beet hummus w/ pistachio as an appetizer. It was almost too pretty to eat, but alas, I couldn’t resist. Absolutely delicious! I opted for the burger and it was very juicy and extremely flavorful. The roasted cauliflower went nicely as a side. I can’t wait to return .

Had a quick meal here whilst attending a conference. Its OK for a simple sit down, but found them a bit slow for my liking. One of our waiters disappeare and we had to call another to help.

The location is beautiful. The food was very inventive and delicious. We tried a variety of dishes including the fish and the burger and all exceeded our expectations. The one area for improvement is the service - it was unprofessional and inattentive at times.

Great place for any local or out of town visitor. Kelli was our server who was very attentive and on her game. The location is really cool and laid back. Definitely a revisit for our party of 5. Home run!

Had a nice dinner but when I left I found my radio was returned to a different station. Didn't think much of it until I opened my glove box later to discover about 8 dollars used for parking was missing. I called the manager to report but they never returned my call. Too bad as there is no other convenient parking nearby so I will not return even though food was good.

Down town at night is really not a place that I like to go to in Houston, but Groves gave us an opportunity to experience great food and a great service. Although, I did not care for the location I certainly would consider going back. The appetizers were very good, guacamole, beet hummus and vegetables. Although it was not on the menu, they graciously made a pomegranate Martine for me. Everyone was trying to be as helpful as possible. Texas hospitality is nice to experience

Pretty big restaurant located within the Discovery Green, the place is posh and expensive and the portions are pretty small, but that’s explanatory. We went there specifically for the tartar, but we also got several different dishes, everything that we tried was great but the main reason that we went there, the tartar. I am not sure why they are calling it beef tartar when is served on huge slices of bread with little bit of tartar, it was not good. The tuna tartar tacos were excellent, and the drink that they made are very good. We3 also got the beat salad, it was satisfactory, but nothing special. The service was excellent, the lady that served us at the bar vas amazing.

Finished taking a bus tour of Houston and walked over here. They were serving a 3 course pre-fixe menu for MD. Looked delicious and the price??!! $20. I couldn't believe it. My BLT sandwich with avocado and egg was the best one I have ever eaten! The bacon was jalapeno bacon and gave a slow steady burn that added to the experience.

Took husband for father's day. He is a foodie so finding a place to meet his expectations is difficult. This place really meet his expectations and he was greatly satisfied. We did their Sunday brunch so we can taste a variety of food. Only negative feedback I can give is parking and automatic gratuity added but to us it's not a deal breaker. We had an awesome waiter by the name of Rick.

Having spent a day exploring the city, came here for dinner prior to an event at the Toyota Center. Now, I wasn't in flip flops and shorts, I was dressed up in a nice top and pants with boots but had a rain jacket with me but was made to feel like I was under-dressed and not welcome by the welcoming team members which was a shame. Walked into a reasonably quiet dinner with the majority of tables empty to be told that we would have to wait 15 minutes to see if they could accomodate myself and my best friend. Managed to get a table and then service was friendly and great after that. Nice food. But you would expect that type of attitude at a high-end degustation venue- not here. So slightly disappointed. Will likely not return purely because of that initial experience.

Attended a birthday party in a private room at The Grove which was very nice. The room was tucked away from the main room, but also had outside decks on 2 sides so you could wander and not feel closed in. About 35-40 people in attendance, and food was buffet style with a little something for everyone. Nice view next to Discovery Green. Participants were all ages, and everyone seemed to enjoy the food, drink and atmosphere.

We happened upon this place while attending a convention (Convention Center is a 3 minute walk). We sat at the bar and had drinks and appetizers. If you order the Chips/Salsa/Guacamole appetizer, be ready to chow down on some absolutely outstanding guacamole, enough for 3 people easily!

We had a gathering of friends and thought downtown would be a great place. The food and wine were very good. But we had not checked other downtown events and were faced with traffic and parking troubles due to so many overlapping events (Rockets, convention, volunteer events, etc). Check the downtown planning before you book in the evening.

The world is slowly correcting itself, The Grove has reopened and serving some of the best food in the region. The waitstaff is personable and very efficient. But the star is the food and the deep flavors. Treat yourself to a wonderful meal.

I dined with friends after a full day of quilt classes. Beer and wine, portions from appetizers to entrees, excellent, attentive service. No rush to leave. Fresh squash curry soup and a small salad were perfect for a late dinner. Fresh fish entrees and vegetarian change daily. Excellent veggie sides!

Very nice restaurant with a great Sunday brunch. The food and service were excellent. We had The Smoked Caesar Salad , the French Toast and Chocolate cake for $20. They also have specialty drinks..mimosas etc. Great location near the convention center and located in Discovery Green Park and area with lots of activities or just stroll around

A group of six had dinner reservations at 5:00 PM. We arrived early and asked about the happy hour. A gentleman at check in was extremely rude in telling me we could not participate in happy hour! Such a bad first impression!! We were seated and had a wonderful waitress - Simone. She took excellent care of all us. The queso is to die for. I have been craving it everyday. All of our food and drinks were good. A couple of tips - they added 20% service fee to our bill. I assume this was the tip and as I said there were six of us. Also it looks like they close daily from 4 to 5. This is very misleading, as on their website and even on my receipt, it advertises happy hour from 4 until 7.

We stopped in at the recommendation of our Uber driver. The Grove is in Discovery Green, right across from the Hilton. It looked really nice inside, but the prices were quite reasonable. Our servers were extremely pleasant and helpful. The four of us in our group each tried something different and none of us were disappointed. The lunch entrees and beer were delicious. I will definitely come back!

My mother, DIL and myself were downtown to attend the Houston Ballet. As it was being held at the George R. Brown (due to the Wortham being flooded by Harvey) we decided to have Sunday brunch at the Grove. It's located in Discovery Green just a block away from GRB. Lovely restaurant - light and airy with a large row of windows overlooking Discovery Green. I had requested a table by the window on my OT reservation and we received that. The valet, hostess and wait staff were all friendly & efficient. No issues with the staff. However, the food is another matter. 3 generations were represented in our group - 80, 60 & 28 - and none of us were particularly thrilled with our brunch. On the positive, the deviled eggs were good and my DIL liked her grilled corn salad. Of the 3 entrees, mine - the shrimp & grits was the most unpalatable. Not only did it look unappetizing, it tasted bland and was extremely greasy. I ate the shrimp and a few bites of the grits & kale, but mainly left it alone. Whoever thought up this combo, needs to go back to the drawing board. The kale in it is tasteless and way too much. My DIL had the beef eggs benedict and thought it was ok, but not great. The meat is bbq and again way too greasy - as in grease pooling on the plate. My mother had the honey biscuit with chicken. Hers was the best by far, but not great. The waiter graciously offered my DIL fruit for dessert as she is Gluten free. A nice gesture. My mother had the meyer lemon poundcake and I had the brown sugar pound cake. The lemon one was the best - good lemon flavor and moist, but the brown sugar one was dried out. All in all, I give the Grove a 4 for location, look and staff. A 2 for the food.

I couldn't leave Texas without trying a steak, that would make no sense. Our hotel concierge recommended The Grove, in Discovery Green and he was not wrong. I had the 18oz Cowboy rib-eye on the bone, delicious! - with some fries of course. The fries were amble but just cut too thin. The apple and walnut cake for dessert was also good. My wife had the cauliflower vegan dish which she thoroughly enjoyed. The service was excellent, the only negatives were very noisy due to hard surfaces and the lighting needs upping a little, otherwise a great place to eat. Recommended.

We had a Tuesday night dinner here. The decor and ambiance are first rate. We both had the Wedge Salad and it was very good. My wife had the Blue Crab Mac & Cheese. I opted for the Small Plate Short Rib. Her mac & cheese portion was huge and she couldn't come close to finishing it even with my help. The short rib was good and actually fell off the bone. The noise level is extremely high making conversation difficult. Following dinner a nice stroll through the park is very pleasant way to conclude the evening.

We dined as a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 teenage children) as it was convenient as we were staying across the road at the Hilton Americas. While the location was good, the interior was too dark and too noisy to enjoy a nice night out. Be aware also as your bill includes a fee for olives and salted peanuts which you don't order - it just appears so you assume they're free but they're not. Food was too spicy for children unless they're into heavily spiced food. A hit and miss dining experience even though we asked for clarification on the menu items we chose. Cheeseboard had blue cheese which we don't eat and was not mentioned by the waiter. The beef rib was too small - one rib, the rib eye too large. At $50 USD they'd be better to halve the portion and the price. My vegan cauliflower dish was acceptable despite the 12 red chillies I pulled out of it. We didn't stay for dessert or tea/coffee. We weren't offered it anyway and we could tell from the flock of waiting staff who hovered over my son trying to complete his main of overly spiced rotisserie chicken they wanted us gone - so we left.

We made a reservation for The Grove based on a recommendation from a client. Not sure if all Thursdays are slow but definitely didn’t need a reservation the night we went. Seated outside since it was comparatively warm to home, outside terrace overlooks the park next door. Service was excellent, our server grew up not far from our offices so was nice to chat about home. Drinks were excellent, server apologized for how long the food was taking (didn’t seem long to us) and threw in an appetizer for free. Food was excellent, steak was cooked as requested.

The Grove is definitely worth a visit. The food is good and the setting in the park is fantastic. Service can be slow and would not recommend it for lunch if you are on the clock

We did not have reservations, and arrived at 4 in the afternoon. They seated us in the bar area, which was very comfortable. The waiter was great, and the food was very good. I would recommend making reservation. Overall, a very nice restaurant.

We visited the Toyota Center for a Rockets game, and we decided to stop and get a drink. The place looked classy and the staff was very friendly. The scenery was so beautiful from the inside, and the lights inside were stylish. The food taste great here, and we will be sure to return.

Stopped in before Astro's game. Son had crab roll, wife had pork loin melt and I had the burger. All were so good we stopped in for appetizers after AND brunch on Sunday. Catch if the day fritter app was wonderful. For Sunday brunch we had corned beef hash, brisket and eggs and French Toast. All were wonderful but the French toast was EXCEPTIONAL. ENJOY

Daniel Braden graciously hosted The Houston Concierge Association at The Grove. It was an amazing experience. Location, ambiance, service, and food were all wonderful. Dry aged NY Strip that melts in your mouth. Upscale ambiance with views of Discovery Green Park. Daniel was a terrific host as were Rick, Eric, and Mary (cocktail magician). The Grove is centrally located in Discovery Park just steps from the Hilton-Americas, Marriott Marquis, and Embassy Suites hotels. Have a guest to impress? Treat them to The Grove.

Met some colleagues for a business dinner but the atmosphere and ambiance would be great for a family celebration or romantic date. Service was impeccable. A good number of local beers offered, which I love to see when traveling. I had the blue crab mac-n-cheese with charred broccoli...highly recommend both.

The Grove is located on the Discovery Green just outside of the George R Brown convention center. We came here for lunch as the convention restaurants were crowded. Food was good but the restaurant was higher end than expected and seemed more in line with the high-end steakhouses further north ($24 burger the lowest priced entree on the lunch menu).

The menu reads well but then the dishes can be heavy or cheese ladened in stark contrast to the setting which is light and airy

Walked in to get a beer. Sat down in the bar area and all the waiters disappeared. After about 10 minutes waiter shows and we ordered. Not a very good experience.

Ate here twice today. Once at lunch and then again for dinner. It's located right across the street from my hotel and there's a nice park located next to it. The cobbler salad was the bomb. I had that for lunch. Sat outside on their deck. The dinner I chose their burger and it was meh. Service was very good. Friendly. Definitely recommended.

I had a wonderful pork chop with winter squash, and the mac/cheese with crab was scrumptious. We were there later in the evening so it was somewhat quiet, but I think it could be pretty noisy during peak times.

This restaurant was close to our hotel. One afternoon, we walked over and enjoyed a light lunch. The bar tender who waited on us told us about the history of the park and how the restaurant was part of the park area. The architecture is great with a wall of windows where you can look at out the beautiful oak lined walkway and park area. We returned the following day for dinner and enjoyed our time again. They offer seafood dishes with a Tex-Mex twist.

The Grove has a good menu, offering salads and burgers, and full entrées. Most of what we ordered was excellent. We visited during the heatwave, and found it to be convenient to the Hilton hotel, without having to venture too far in the heat. The atmosphere is casual, and the staff are friendly.

We went here with a group and had reservations. The food was good, but portions were very small for the price paid. We also had to wait 1.5hrs after sitting to get our food.

Located in Discovery Green Park, close to the convention center and Astros Minute Maid Park, this is a nice restaurant for a special occasion. But, you can grab a quick drink and dinner here, also. The food is good.

Smoked white fish appetizer was so yummy a year ago. This time, it tasted like chunky tuna fish and I sent it back. The mgr came out to ask/apologize...and offered to comp me something different....but when the bill came, he hadn't. I was headed to the ballet and couldn't wait. Our waitress was rude and argumentative. :(

The food was incredible, the service was outstanding and the outdoor seating options were awesome. Overall a great experience.

Enjoyed the fritters and steak salad for lunch, our table also had the split pea soup, chicken salad and shrimp salad. Nice meal for the price, easy access and convenient parking nearby. Nice view of discovery green.

I was visiting Houston in business and decided to return to the Grove as I remembered everything bring delicious. I sat at the bar and Livingston was the most amazing bar tender as everything he recommended was incredibly tasty! I had the drum fish and seasonal vegetables and a glass of oaky Chardonnay. The drum fish is cooked on a wood plank and is so moist and juicy. It is served with these crab boiled potatoes and the seasonal veggies are grilled to perfection with olive oil and spices. It was one of the most satisfying dinners I have had. Thank you!

Someone recommended this place for Sunday brunch and I really enjoyed it! The location provides good views and it was easy to park. The menu is three course's for $25 (or you can go a la carte apparently) which I thought was good, I had the deviled eggs, the brunch classic and the brown butter pound cake and all three were delicious! The menu offered a great choice to go with the bottomless mimosa's on offer...

Great ambience; the place has a huge well designed layout complete with a separate bar area on one end near the entrance. Overall good service, good quality of food and not expensive.

This was the closest restaurant to our hotel with a high Trip Advisor rating so we tried this on our last full day in Houston for a conference. We were seated promptly (had reservations for 5pm but our trip to the Space Center ran late and we called to say we would be late. They held our reservation anyway and we arrived around 5:30p.) We usually order bottled sparkling water with our meals. They actually produced there own and it was fine. I ordered the Fish in Parchment and my wife ordered the Grilled Gulf Shrimp. Both meals were very tasty. There wasn't anything on the desert menu that struck our fancy so we passed (not that they wouldn't be good but we are pretty picky). The only ding I will give them is on the service. The waiter seemed nervous and wasn't very helpful with helping us make a selection. After the meal begun we rarely saw him. Didn't ask how everything tasted, my cocktail was empty, etc. I never did order another and was never asked. Granted, there were two large parties, but otherwise the place was not that busy. In fact we realized we probably didn't need a reservation for this Tuesday evening. Other than that, a good experience.

Looking for a nearby restaurant to the Hilton on our first night in Houston. We found this place right across the street. It opens onto a beautiful park. Food and drinks were delicious. I had a rose wine and the local corn salad. I would order both again.

Walked around Discovery Green afternoon before Thanksgiving Parade stopped for delicious meal at The Grove. Had some Argula salad and Koshary Entre it was the best. If have a few extra dollars and a great appetite recommend the grove.

Stopped by here on our walk to Game 7 of World Series from our hotel Hilton Americas. Met up with some friends that were in town as well! We had a great time here at The Grove! Amazing drinks, staff was extremely friendly, & the food was great! Highly recommend!! Beautiful large windows overlooking the park. Even an outdoor patio area! Must see.

The Grove is set on the edge of a nonprofit park, which often has art installations in it, and the restaurant takes full advantage of that location with primarily glass walls. We met a colleague here for a business dinner and had a wonderful meal. The menu is inventive and varied. I had the agave beets, which had some wonderful flavor combinations (I think it had baby cilantro, among other things). For my main course I had the oak grilled red snapper, which was absolutely outstanding. Everything we ate was delicious. Service was very good, with only one little hitch (a mixup on two white wines we ordered), but that was quickly put right. They have an excellent wine selection and a knowledgeable sommelier. An aspect of service that I particularly appreciated was that they took care of my special needs (gluten free and dairy free), and the menu clearly marked dishes that met those requirements. The waiter was also quick to add that they could modify almost any of the dishes to suit my needs. So often, eating with dietary restrictions means a sad dried out piece of meat with no sauces. This I restaurant got it right - I never felt that I was missing anything. Definitely celiac friendly and vegan friendly. We were able to walk back to our hotel, which was only a 10-15 minute walk, and very pleasant. Highly recommend.

I attended a very large private event hosted by John Crane during the Turbomachinery Conference. It was held on the second floor and included all rooms inside and out. Great service, food and facilities. The location in the park in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center and across the street from the Hilton can't be beat!

parking is not too easy. but can use valet service .free for guests which is good. Decor and ambiance decent

Quality place for a dinner during a stopover in Houston. I tried their garden salad and a burger, all well done. Prices slightly high but in line with the USA. The only flaw, as everywhere else, is that the air conditioning is too loud.

Very good location. Nicely decorated. Adequate menu. Good and rapid service. Quality dishes with copious sizes. Decent, not too expensive, bill. All in all good quality/price relationship.

Leave it to a Wisconsin gal to come into an upscale restaurant / bar in sweats. Bartender asked me if I wanted to sit in bar rather than main dining, which I did. Menu was pretty involved/creative, leaving me wonder what I had a taste for... the bartender had recommendations that didn’t disappoint-tortilla soup (it was a bit cool) & amazing arugula and goat cheese salad. Overall yummy and just across street from Hilton, convention center, so it’s a go from me!

What a great place. Had the deviled eggs for appetizer which were fantastic. I had the rice bowl, awesome, watch the sauce its spicy but great. Wife had the short rib tacos, excellent. Dessert was the butterfinger and gelato. Both were great. Definitely recommend this establishment.

We found The Grove great value for money and the food was very good, the waitress was very friendly and helpful. The guacamole was the best I have ever had, served in the biggest green chilli I have ever seen Would certainly recommend it

Great private dining room! We were a group of 18, and could have been up to 22-24. The room was right off the main dining room, had a very modern yet cozy feel. The staff made us feel welcome and the cost was reasonable to our pocketbook! When I asked about availability on dates the staff was quick to reply to my emails & requests. We even had gluten free and vegetarian eaters in the family group and they accommodated us easily and the food was delicious making the night super special.

Stayed in town for a convention and had a late lunch at the Grove. I was pleasantly surprised with the amazing flavors of all the dishes we sampled. The grilled shrimp salad with Mexican corn was spot on! Since moving to Kansas my palette has been hungry for this flavorful fare. Great service at the bar from Julio!! Definite do over. Great locale for cocktails and relaxing

We ordered the quail and snapper. Both perfectly cooked and beautifully plated dishes. They were well worth the price for such well composed plates. Each flavor and element had a purpose, simply bliss. We both had the $9 rose, very enjoyable. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant really make you feel like you’re in such a special place.

After a nice walk around downtown, I stopped here for a bite and a couple cocktails. Loved the atmosphere. The drinks cocktails were good and I lucked out and got 1 for less because happy hour started! I sat by the bar and it was a great place to people watch since I was alone.

I have dined at The Grove multiple times and was really impressed. We chose it for the ambiance, food, etc. to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. On this visit, I was really disappointed with the food and especially the service. They were out of many menu items. We were a party of 10 and were seated outside the bar area. Waiter seemed like he didn’t want to be there and we repeatedly had flag him down for simple stuff like drink refills and weren’t even served things we ordered. Worst part was we got hit with a 20% gratuity on a large bill for service that was terrible.

I can say the menu is well balanced between dishes and price. Seating area has a good atmosphere and service was adequate. Meal well presented and warm upon arrival. Not impressed overall but for a solo traveler in downtown Houston is OK.

I can't begin to explain how much I enjoyed this place. The food and atmosphere was great. We valeted our car, which was awesome since we couldn't find any spots open near the restaurant. The item I tried was the JC rice bowl. It was a combination of flavors that worked really well together. I knew i had made the right choice while ordering because my friends asked what he recommended, and that happened to be his favorite choice as well. I will definitely visit this restaurant again when I'm in Houston next. The only thing I would tell people interested in going here for the first time is that I wouldn't consider this restaurant to be casual dining as described on google.

Most of the food is just strange. We couldn't even find one dessert that sounded good. The one exception was the truffle fries. Excellent. This is an expensive place. The food should be good. And it's too loud to converse easily, even at a small table for 3. It's convenient to the convention center. But that's no longer enough. We won't be going back.

Service, food and ambiance all tops. Shared a Texas wedge salad served on cold plates like it should. Spouse had quail with etouffee and dirty rice and I had the black drum on the half shell with dirty rice. (Excellent!). We enjoyed cocktails, wine ( a dry Vouvray) and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend.

We were there for a private event (we had the entire place) for our corporate event. It was delicious. I would say this place would get noisy no matter what the occupancy. We did not get a chance to use the rooftop bar. Never figured out how to get up there. Didn't matter...jet lag and ready to go!

Atomophere was great next to The Grove Park. Server and service was excellent. Buffet selection was unmbelievable and varied. Omlet station, eggs, sausage, bacon fruit and on and on. Buy one memosia and get a second for 99 cents. All was excellent and with two young children was a lot of fun. Food was great and selection again beyond expectiations. A little pricy, but worth the trip. Reservations recommended.

Went in here for pre dinner drinks. Sitting outside a waitress dropped salsa sauce and it splashed all over my trousers and shirt. Accidents happen but it was her reaction which caused us concern. She handed me a dirty rag to wipe it off my clothes and when I protested about this went away and brought a clean damp cloth. No mention of cleaning up my clothes at all. I had to go into the place and ask to speak to the manager for anything to be done. In fairness he understood the situation right away, paid for dry cleaning of my clothes and comped us the drinks. This unpleasantness could have been avoided if the waitress had taken this action herself.

Fun atmosphere and fresh food and drinks. Definitely on the pricey side but seemed worth it. I recommend the ginger margarita & a table outside!

Got the bone-in ribeye and it was very tough. Ordered it medium which means it just wasn’t a good cut of meat. I rarely give low reviews but this deserves it. At these prices a steak should be excellent and it wasn’t even good. Anyone can buy a steak better than this for $12 at the store and cook it better on any grill. Told the waiter and he apologized and never said anything else. Didn’t offer a discount or dessert or anything else even though they knew it was my wife’s birthday...they didn’t even bring a cupcake...and we told them on the app when we made the reservation, on the phone when they called to confirm, and to the hostess when we arrived. It’s like they’ve never run a restaurant before.

We had a superior meal to celebrate my husband’s 80th birthday. Our three course delight was accompanied by a wonderful assortment of mock cocktails enjoyed by adults and younger folks alike. Our servers were attentive, but not rushed. All twenty some odd folks got their meals simultaneously. We had vegetarians, gluten free, meat and fish eaters. We highly recommend The Grove for your family’s enjoyment!

We were a group of 20 and had booked the private function room at the end of the main restaurant, which was lucky for the other diners as we were a noisy bunch! We had a set menu, with 4 choices for each course. Our servers, Simone and Nelson, were great, especially Simone who made our evening lots of fun. For cocktails, I had the pomegranate margarita, which was a bit sweet for my liking -- I prefer a more sour drink. I had the chicken tortilla soup, the petit beef tender (I think that's what it was called) and the key lime fried pie, which were delicious little lime-filled empanadas. All the food was great and cooked well. We had a great night, and Simone and Nelson helped make it so.

Visited with a group of business associates. Food was good, wine was good, service was pleasant. Not a lot of app selections, and the menu itself is somewhat limited. But the quesadillas were really good. It looked like Vegan and Gluten Free were both possible as well on some selections.
Awesome!
This restaurant is absolutely beautiful, nice decor and huge windows with a view of spectacular trees right in the Discovery Green. The food was fantastic and the service even better. I will be back for sure.
