Great variety, awesome views, average execution

By Deborah B |

Came on a Saturday evening - beautiful weather on the patio and amazing views. All staff were friendly and helpful. Love love loved the menu options - had some things that knocked it out of the park, other things were a bit average. Had the cab wine flight - superb choices and good value for the cost. Ordered the stuffed quail breast - the flavor combos were insanely good, and the quail itself was awesome, but the "crispy" onions accompanying it weren't crispy at all. Seemed like they had been fried HOURS ago and left under a warmer. Soggy and oily. A shame because the taste was great and complemented the quail very well. The bruschetta sampler was also so promising with the flavor combos - ordered Gorgonzola/pear/walnuts/honey, fig/Apple/Brie, and mushroom/Gouda/balsamic. Taste of all was amazing and complemented the wines perfectly. But the bread was enormous instead of thin, and barely toasted...it would have been much better if it had a little more traditional bruschetta type bread. Huge portions, though - also a great value for the price. Lastly had the olive oil and Popeye pizza and added grilled chicken. Very tasty and well executed. I would definitely come back because some of my complaints are a bit nitpicky.

NOT, NOT, NOT PET FRIENDLY

By Steve H |

NOT, NOT, NOT PET FRIENDLY. Don't believe anything else you read. That being said, there was no reason for the manager being rude when we showed up with our six pound Shih Tzu. We explained that we read that The Grove was pet friendly. Her response: I don't care what you read, we can't control that. But we do have some broken down picnic tables in a sand pit, in the direct sun that you can sit at. Thank you, no thanks.

Very fresh ingredients!

By m_levy123 |

Had a lovely family meal here. All the food we had had the most delicious vegetables. I had the veggie pizza, and we all shared some bruschetta for a starter, which is super fun because you can order a set of 3 different ones and taste them all. Service was lovely and very considerate, checking about dietary restrictions as needed.

Service was fabulous. The food was very good.

By Randy W |

Our server was amazing. Didn't miss any detail and was prompt without making us feel rushed. The food was very good too.

Best late lunch

By lavender432014 |

On our only wet day during our stay in Austin TX we got up late watched a Liverpool football game on TV then went out looking for lunch. We had no luck with our first two places but a patron in the second place recommended “The Grove”. Our lucky day not only was the decor tasteful, the food was great. My husband had a tuna salad and I had shrimp. Service was friendly and informative. A nice mixture. They also served a three glass mixture of wines so that you could experiment with you palette. Fun

Great little stop.

By Chris G |

I had great service that assisted me with a solid wine flight to pair with my food selection and a wonderful patio to enjoy the evening.

Fun night with friends

By Summitseekerray |

We had local friends take us for a lovely evening with their friends, so there were six of us for great outdoor dining experience in the lovely warm Texas climate. Food, drinks and service were all good and prices reasonable. I would recommend it for anyone.

Good food and wines!

By Jay F |

Went with another couple for a late lunch. Parking was very crowded so we ended up using Valet. Started with bruschetta which comes as three fairly large bruschetta of you selection for $10. For mains we ordered two roasted beet salads, a kale/quinoa salad, and ahi poke. Also ordered seven glasses of wine. The wine prices were reasonable and good quality. The special wines of the day were especially good for the price ($5 esch). The rose was also s good value at $5.75 a glass. Altogether a good experience and we will go back.

Nice Place for Lunch!

By Forbes B |

We were seated outside on the terrace with a great view of the surrounding countryside. The menu offered a good range of choices and service was very good. The food was also very good.

Fun place

By thegriesers |

Loved the different bruschettas. We really liked the fig and goat cheese. A place to "be seen" with a fun bar, lax attitude and different food. Will be back!

Exceptional

By mscactus |

Atmosphere was great along with the fun wine flights and the brussel sprouts appetizers are a must (I know! I was so surprised too)!

This place is a MUST TRY!

By Angela S |

First visit to The Grove and I promise it won't be our last! We were staying at a nearby hotel and someone suggested eating here. From the moment we arrived, I loved this place. Great service! Great atmosphere! Beautiful patio...love the huge old tree covered with white lights! But the best part? The food!!! I had a seared chicken breast with brussel sprouts and homemade mashed potatoes and it was too die for! This was the best meal of our entire trip! The chicken was tender and seasoned to perfection and the brussel sprouts were out of this world. No need for a doggie bag tonight! Best bet in the area!

Great Customer Service & Delicious Food!!

By Life_Tourist |

I met a few friends for lunch today at The Grove in downtown Austin. WOW!! Fantastic experience!! Chef Cody Krause came out to the table talk about the dietary restrictions for the table... which were extensive. He listened to make sure he understood the needs and then took the lead in suggesting entrees and modifications. And then he delivered!! Thank you Chef Cody!! I've been to other locations in Austin and Houston and the food has always been fresh and delicious. The location in downtown Austin offers complimentary valet, so parking couldn't be any easier! Will definitely return to The Grove!!

Upscale & delish

By Diane M |

Oh gosh is this a nice place. The wine variety is outstanding and the food is so good. I found the menu varied and something for everyone. The food served was tasty, fresh and seemed "healthy". The setting is awesome. We sat on the patio under twinkling lights under huge oak trees on a warm summer night.

Average place with average food

By AGADOTTI |

Been there for a light business dinner, the place looks nothing special. The food is average both in quality and choices and the place design looks a mid way between fast food and a restaurant. Not too bad but not memorable for sure.

Very laid back atmosphere!

By randymac1987 |

Had the ahi tuna special today, reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because waiters were not too knowledgeable about wine menu, I'm a rookie I needed a little help, other than that nice place and food.

Good Food Nice Atmosphere

By Manarola3 |

Dependably delicious creative food. Friendly service too. I do wish they had a less limited Happy Hour menu. While there are a few cocktails and beer specials, there are no food specials. This is unusual for Austin. That said, their regular meals are great!

One of our favorite Austin spots

By The Other Jim H |

We try to go here at least once when we are in Austin. The ambiance is something special, with many tables outdoors on a patio under imposing oaks. Then, there is the wine. I always try one of the "flights" offering three different wines by the glass. The staff puts together related vintages for comparison. On the night we visited, I tried, "Call me a Cab," consisting of three California Cabernets. All were good, but I found a clear favorite in the Benzinger offering. Several beers, both local and international are available for those who prefer that to wine. We ordered two Bruschetta plates for the table, which disappeared in a hurry. If you are not particularly hungry, try some of the small plates. The crab cake I had was excellent, thick with crab, with a nice, spicy aioli and some small greens. Two large pizzas, enough for two with some left over for a cold breakfast, are very popular, as are the pasta dishes. You can't really go wrong on the food, or the wine for that matter. Service is outstanding, with the wait staff scattered around the patio close by. Highly recommended.

Great Appetizers

By Nanci D |

This location has great views and good service. I really enjoy the appetizers and a good wine selection.

Variety of Great Tasting Food and a "Wine List a mile long!!!

By chuckbizbuilder |

Expansive menu with burgers, salads, great-tasting pizzas, sandwiches, etc....so many wine flights that it would take a life-time to explore all the offerings, Great service and a super outdoor patio for the fall and spring. The Grove is truly an "Austin Original!!!" Since I live in Austin I am a regular customer.

Overpriced Salad Entree

By Jdgtex |

I ordered the Asian entree salad. In tiny print, there was mention of adding a protein, but no prices were listed. I asked the server and she said most people like chicken or shrimp. The salad arrived and was much smaller than I remember. ( we had not been here in awhile) There were 5 medium shrimp, and I was charged $8 which brings the cost of this salad to $24. This seemed excessive for the size of the entree and the small amount of added protein. Also, the dressing was not flavorful.

Sour Chicken

By Joe H |

If no stars were available! But they’re not so here’s what happened. We went here a lot. A few times a week. Once or twice in or out and another just in as date night. I ordered the chicken sandwich which was a good experience in the past. I got it home and took one bite and threw up on the spot. It was SOUR! The actual chicken was sour. Oh how GROSS! I called em to let em know because we’re frequent flyers and they were like yeah ok I’ll tell the chef, anything else? I said sure send me a new one and I’ll send this one back. They said well you’ll have to go through door dash and all these other hoops to run through. Yeah sorry no. Y’all messed up figure it out. So basically they shrugged off serving me SOUR chicken with a shoulder shrug and move on down the road. We’ve spent thousands of dollars here and likely would have continued to spend thousands more. But if you all can’t be bothered I’ll certainly make sure everyone I know hears about it. Never take the chance of having sour chicken here. They’ll basically act like they Ts just another day and your own problem to handle. Foul Food!

Lovely outdoor patio meal

By MumsyM |

We loved this friendly neighbourhood restaurant. The waitress was super friendly. The outside patio seating was really lovely. My pasta dish was so fresh and tasty. We had a great meal and would definitely eat here again if we are back in the area.

A Fun Time

By Kurt M |

A great place to enjoy a meal or just appetizers and a beer/wine. Service a little spotty but a really enjoyable environment. Nice wine and beers on tab.

Dinner Among the Branches

By JacksonSE |

Hit The Grove for dinner on a Thursday evening, and it was quite busy. It also has a good bit of seating, and they were able to handle a group of six with almost no wait time. We always try to sit outside, which is a bit like eating in a tree house. You’re just on a deck a few feet off the ground, but the ancient tree in the middle of the lot completely enfolds the deck. On this evening the orders ranged from pizza to the “off the menu” crab cake salad. Everyone reported their meals were excellent, and I can attest mine was as well. The Bee Cave location is the only place we’ve eaten, but my guess is the others are just as good.

The Grove is a lovely place to dine.

By mr_larry_smith |

The Grove is known for being a wine bar, which is very nice. Tonight we ate dinner on their patio with the great light wrapped trees. The service and food were excellent. Give it their patio a try after a stop in the wine bar.

Fantastic!

By lifeisgood234 |

Sit outside if you can! Lovely atmosphere and excellent food. The menu had many choices for all. Wine list is wonderful, with many flight options. Food was outstanding! We had appetizers, dinner and dessert and all were excellent. Our server was so helpful with great recommendations. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Austin!

Don’t go

By Susan F |

Despite a patio full of empty tables the ‘children’ at the desk will tell you they have nothing available unless you have a reservation. And if you grab a bar seat and stay the patio will still have empty tables when you leave. Not worth the aggravation!

Good value and service and excellent food

Firstly thanks to our servers Mike and suspect who really exvelled Polite friendly and knowledgeable. Well done The menu isverbdivetse and the porti9ns enormous. Nice atmosphere and good.wine.lis5. Recommended

Great Ambiance and Food

By Samantha J |

The Grove Wine Bar, in Lakeway has a special weekend brunch that had some pretty incredible sounding entrees we had seen on IG for quite sometime! We were gonna be in the area and decided it was a must that we stop in!!! We’re so glad that we did!!! The outside seating during COVID was phenomenal!! We enjoyed seeing all the fun champagne flights go by and everyone with smiles on their faces as they enjoyed the food!!   We had the Fried Chicken and Crème Brulèe French Toast: It was a Butter milk Fried Chicken, Challah Bread, Peach Marmalade, Maple Syrup **The Chicken was super juicy with a slight crunch, the bread was nice and fluffy and the peach marmalade mixed with the chicken reminded me of a sweet and sour sauce feel where there is a mix of sweetness and tang.     Sunrise Flatbread Pizza: Two sunny side eggs, bacon, mozzarella, fontina, garlic, texas olive oil, dressed arugula, shaved parmesan, hollandaise. **Loved the thin texture of the flatbread and the peppery arugula. The hollandaise was deliciously buttery and eggs cooked perfectly. Reminded me of eating a fancier version of egg on sourdough toast as w child.   The service and ambiance was phenomenal and when looking at their regular menu it was hard not to order more! Definitely check them out and add them to your list if you’re in the area! Check out more videos and pictures on IG: Fitfoodiesonwheels Facebook: Fit Foodies on Wheels

Better than many

By d1621 |

After a run of not so good experiences here, we decided to give the Grove a try again this summer. We had really good experiences and food with reasonable service in both June and July. So we were glad we had tried it again. In June, we had the Guilhem Rose' along with my date enjoying a Berry Salad, adding Salmon, while I had a half Reed's Salad and the Burger adding bacon, jalapeno and avocado. All the food was tasty although the jalapenos had to be requested twice. In our July visit, we had the Mt Benoit Sauvignon Blanc, my date's favorite Berry Salad but this time with Shrimp. I ordered the Crabcakes and Pork Sliders, sort of a casual surf & turf combo. Once again the food was very tasty and we felt that the Grove ws back on track with its prior quality and service. We will be back.

Nice food but really overpriced

By Liz S |

My husband and I went to the grove to meet friends but were stood up, so we had a date night. I had a cup of soup and a dinner salad (all veggies). He had bowl of soup, the same salad and we shared a plate of roasted cauliflower. We had a glass of wine each. This ran $88. You have to be kidding me? I really liked the food as the beet salad was healthy and nicely prepared and not skimpy. But really the prices are outrageous. I know it's Westlake but get over yourself.

Father's Day treat

By GB_InTexas |

What a pleasant surprise and find. My high-school daughter did some searching for a nice place for Father's day. One heck of a large selection of wine, but we came for the food. The Calamari was divine. The Quail legs were awesome. Highly recommend both, but the red sauce that came with the Calamari was not appetizing. So we avoided it. We also had the pizza, lamb chops and pasta. All good. I liked the lamb chops, and the mash potatoes mixes with horse radish was a hit. The desert was creme brulé.. Yeah, get it... Nutella, carmel, regular... Yeah, get it. We will be back

The seafood pasta tasted amazing!!! Courteous staff.

By TNGsWorld |

Loved sitting on their shaded outside patio for dinner. Great views. Flat screens if you can't have dinner without watching sports - ha ha! My seafood pasta dish was delicious!! It had clams, shrimp with a savory broth. I ate very last bite of it. Our appetizer was missing a sauce/too dry - oven roasted brussel sprouts and other veggies - needed to be served with a dipping sauce or with light mayo sauce drizzled on it. Kids liked their creme brulee trio for dessert.

I love this place

By ColoradoJ |

I'm not from Austin, but my adult daughter lives in Austin and I've been to several restaurants in Austin during our visits there. The outdoor patio at The Grove on Bee Cave is one of my favorite places. The wines and wine flights are very reasonably priced, the food is excellent, and the patio is well shaded and feels like a welcome oasis in the city. But I'd caution that The Grove is only welcoming during temperate weather or late evenings when the outside patio is viable. Inside seating is limited and ordinary, turning a great place into a much more ordinary wine bar.

Casual evening meal in Austin.

By Brettson |

Enjoyed a quiet meal at The Grove after arriving in Austin. Chose it for the reviews. Sat outside on a warm summer evening, but it was very pleasant with their giant fan and a slight breeze. The illuminated tree outside creates a wonderful atmosphere. They offer several wine flights to try different labels. We paired ours with the Bruschetta, which is an absolute must, as you can choose from extensive options on your topping. We had a great salad and pizza, both of which they modified slightly for our tastes. Excellent service. Went back the next day for lunch!

What a nice place

By Frank Groenen |

Busy great food. We loved it. The place is very popular! I do recommend to go if you are in the area! We were there with a large group and the service is great.

Always Good

By Grayjay44 |

We go here anytime we're in Austin. Wide menu, good service, good food. The outside patio is very pleasant, with huge oak trees.

Nice atmostphere for a perfect dinner in the patio

By trachn |

Beautiful place for dinner. Reserve outdoor in the patio if possible. We sat ouside with a group of 15 people. I had salmon and it was delicious. They have a huge selection of good wine.

Excellent Apps

By Debbie G |

I was visiting a friend in Austin and we decided to get appetizers at the Grove. We waited a short while before being seated. We ordered a bottle of wine and the crispy Brussels sprouts as well as 3 bruschetta plates- mozzarella/tomato, asparagus/prosciutto, and fig/Brie/apple. All were delicious! We topped off the evening with a lovely slice of chocolate cake. It was fun to share because we each had more choices and flavors to savor. It was well worth the wait!

interesting place - trendy - overpriced

By jimbonnie |

Interesting place in Austin. Very trendy - upscale (especially the orices) . Food was okay buit just average. The wait staff thought they were all that and then some (not so much). So many better places to eat and enjoy in Austin.

Delightful Lunch

By MacAtlantaGa_ |

My son who lives in Austin suggest this Grove location for a lunch meeting. It was a perfect setting for a very nice lunch. The inside is very spacious with comfortable seating. They also have a lovely outside seating area. The food was outstanding. Our son had the Salmon entree served with Jasmine rice and a side salad. I loved the Ahi Tuna salad. The service was outstanding. Can't wait to come back and check out the brunch specials! I'm a fan!!

Cute

By Moni |

Very cute atmosphere with a patio under a big tree. The service was nice and food was good. We celebrated a friend’s birthday and they made a birthday plate for us.

Outdoor seating, great service and food

By KandiBag |

We went to The Grove with a group of 12. We shared several of the brochette which were fabulous. Everyone also loved their meals. The staff was very accommodating to our large group. Good wine list but it should include some local Texas wine.

Large patio with beautiful views

By MLB |

Great outdoor patio and busy! Nice selection of flights of wine to sample new things. Food menu was varied and fine - nothing special. Service was fine

Good place for ladies lunch

By kbennett14 |

The food is good and the restaurant is always crowded. Great wine selection. Good for a light meal. Parking is limited but a very popular Westlake spot.

Our favorite neighborhood restaurant in Austin

By Carlton E |

My wife and I have been to The Grove Wine Bar and Kitchen in Westlake (west side of Austin) many times. Recently we finally realized just how nice the Grove really is. Most of the restaurant is outdoors, under a huge native Oak tree, trimmed with lights, three decks, and with outstanding food and service. If you time your visit so that it is during wonderful weather (which is most of the time in Austin), this place can’t be beat. The owner has placed an emphasis on delicious, creative, and often healthy recipes, and an excellent trove of good wines. Wait staff in Austin are spotty at best, with high turnover, but the staff at the Grove tend to be well-trained and pay attention to the customers. The only downside is that guests should understand that this place can get crowded, and service naturally slows down. But it is rare that food service takes too long – a sign of excellent kitchen timing and organization. Valet parking is complimentary. You would never know you were among a small number of retail shops, nor will you care whether there is a fantastic view. If you want a view, try their sister restaurant in Lakeway, about 25 minutes away. Neither one of these restaurants will disappoint you.

Don’t go on a Thursday

By lelalulit |

Hard to get to, oily, loud music, no conversation, won’t deliver food from any service, unfriendly staff

Good - but where are the Texas wines?

By cottoncats |

Texas has a lot of family run wineries throughout the state & there are some really good ones out there - but there isn't a single Texas winery on the menu at the Grove. Which is a shame because Texas wineries just down the road on 290 are winning more awards than the California wines touted on the Grove menu. So that was a huge disappointment, especially when bringing out of town guests. The restaurant is nicely situated below Bee Cave Road so you don't get the road noise. The staff was all very nice, the service was prompt, cordial & non-intrusive. Sit outside if you can - it is really nice if there is a slight breeze. Very relaxing. The food was good & well priced. We shared a few orders of the bruschetta - each was very good. Everyone liked their dinner as well and do get the bread pudding - but ask for extra sauce. The flight of wines is more wine than you think it will be & is a nice way to structure around a meal. But again - where are the Texas wines? I hope to go back but will check the wine list first.

Birthday Lunch Celebration

By Darlene H |

All four of my kids, a son-in-law, my husband and I enjoyed lunch today to celebrate my birthday. We enjoyed a variety of entrees from the expansive menu. I had the Seared Ahi Tuna Salad, two people had the Steak Salad, two had Paninis with a salad, one had pizza with a salad. It all was very good! My daughter had made a reservation, so we were seated right away and the service was very good. We ate inside, but the patio is lovely. This is a very interesting restaurant and wine bar!

Good vibe and food

By SibylleR2010 |

On a late afternoon under hug trees and fans offering some cooling we enjoyed a lovely grass of wine and cheese board. No happy hour sadly but we still got a satisfying treat and the young waitress who was new but willing to learn and get the needed info was sweet. Such a nice spot to just hang in Westlake. We have too few places like this!

Wonderful dinner with a great views

By BUBear86 |

We had a party of 10, and our server took great care of us. Our meals were all prepared as requested and arrived very fast! Everyone liked what we ordered, appetizers, drinks, main courses, desserts. We had a table that allowed us to visit, see the views, enjoy the evening. It was a great time!!!

Pizza, Pasta, and Wine

By ChicagoJ19 |

I was pleasantly surprised with the food menu. They offer a variety of pizzas, pastas, and salads along with other wonderful options. We ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza and the Spicey Ginger Rice Noodles. Both were favorites. I would definitely go back!

A "happening Place" !

By Rebelrpr |

Busy but comfortable ! Good menu , nice wine list , good food with lots of variety , great place to visit ....both inside & outside !

Best bruschetta

By gregny |

A great experience. Being from ny my expectations were not high but this place proved me wrong. Very trendy, cosmopolitan. Bruschetta is one of the best we tried. Great wine choices.

Great find in Westlake

By tobi231 |

We discovered the Grove Wine Bar and Kitchen on our last trip to Austin and ate there twice! The menu has lots of choices from just nibbles to full blown dinner. Great salads, oysters and the ahi tuna selections are wonderful. The wait staff is very knowledgable of the wine available and made some excellent recommendations.

Very accommodating and delicious food.

By richardnI7813GR |

We came in 15 minutes before closing and the wait staff was very nice and pleasant. They did not rush us at all. The food was delicious. We will definitely be going back.

Not my kind of place

By Mandy R |

I'm not the kind to go to a wine bar but my coworker asked that I meet her there before an event so I went. It was a Thursday night so it wasn't packed but it still took a long time for anything we ordered. When we did get our food it was very delicious but not very much of it for the price of the dishes. We were against the wall with me sitting on the aisle which seems to be the main route of everyone and I felt in the way.

2nd visit- love it

By Andrea K |

fabulous ambience. Great appetizers and wine. Loved pizza for dinner. Repeat great ambience Sit outside if possible

Great food, great outdoor space

By AwesomeTexas |

We had dinner there before a show at One World Theater. I had two samplers (Sesame crusted Ahi and mussels), one got the roasted chicken and the other the Kobe burger. The mussels were amazing but it doesn't look like they are still on the menu. Bummer.

Out of town Visit - Very Good

By egsmarci |

Met coworkers at The Grove for a Friday night dinner. I am from out of town an rely on Trip Advisor a great amount & it did not steer me wrong. We all shared apps, from the chicken slides, Mussels, Fried Oysters, Mac & Cheese, Fried Brussel Spouts, and 3 types of Bruschetta. They were all amazing. Wine list and offerings are very vast. They were nice enough to split our check 8 ways with no grumbling. Highly recommend -

Fabulous Experience

By noplacelikehome123 |

Lovely outdoor setting or cozy in door seating. Service was great. Menu had a wide variety. We sampled 3 small plates and a pizza, plus a bottle of wine. The entire experience was wonderful!

Another Great Meal

By BSL10024 |

The grove has a few locations. We went to Bee cave since we were staying closeby. The fried brussel sprouts were outstanding, as was the calamari. I got those two apps for my dinner (more than enough for a meal). My husband got a wood fired pizza that he loved.

Date night

By Pat K |

The food was very good and the atmosphere is great the service is friendly and prompt. Recommend for a relaxing dinner

Great view, great service, poor food

By waianaegirl |

It's pretty sad when you really don't want to eat your food, because it was not visually appealing. My father in law got an upset stomach from his lunch there. That being said, my husband, who has Celiac, did not get sick. We were not at all impressed with our lunch. Either with the look or taste of it.

Delicious hidden gem

By kellie1214 |

Absolutely delicious from beginning to end! The fig and prosciutto flatbread was amazing, and we loved the “carb-friendly” options for dinner. Chad provided service above and beyond. We will absolutely be back!

Love this place

By AroundtheUS |

Great food, great wine list, awesome feel and terrific staff. Prices are reasonable and food quality is outstanding. We have visited multiple times and ALWAYS have had a terrific experience.

Great find

By Ikemx |

Had a very pleasant experience considered a surprise. The design of the place was very attractive, creative and appealing. A mix of Asian design and an interesting "ADEGA" a wine cellar above ground We chose to have two different flights of wine. Good recommendations from our server Joe. We decided to have small dishes to share instead of big entres. All were excellent, all had a bit of Asian twist, our favorite was a Ahi tuna, very nice heat, excellent quality fish I highly recommend this place, they have valet parking, a very good convenience in an area of lots of traffic and little availability of parking

Fantastic Fun with Fabulous Food!

By Michelle T |

A modern setting of wine & dine. Very easy for family dinner, fun with friends or couples night out. The wine flights are terrific, the food is absolutely delicious! The cook was quick to change an item to help with allergies, etc. I would 100% visit this again when in Austin. The seared tuna is divine(make sure to ask for less spice if you are sensitive) Crap cakes are melt in your mouth yummy. We had a 16, 14 & 12 year old with us and they loved every morsel from the spaghetti to the fried calamari. Service is terrific too!

Went twice we enjoyed it so much

By KevinD |

Short visit to Austin. Ate at the grove twice in the evening. Good choice from a well though out menu. Liked the Bruschetta- which can be had in a multitude of different styles. Nice place to sit outside and enjoy some of their various wines.

Wonderful place for lunch

By Bookworms2010 |

This is a very busy restaurant but it has a wide menu of fresh and tasty foods. There are soups, salads sandwiches and entree dishes. It has a large indoor and outdoor seating area....very pleasant. The only downside is that parking is a challenge

Enjoyable environment

By earroyave |

Came back with my wife as we enjoy the location and the setup the restaurant has to offer. Food was good and service was prompt and courteous. Their pizza is quite good.

The Grove downtown needs help

By SibylleR2010 |

Lovely new location with a well proven receipe for quality and ambiance. We were very excited to see this one pop up in DT, smack in the hopping scene and a promissing new apeal. The paint is still fresh I guess as everything from welcome, service and food lacked enthusiasm. My beloved brochetta varieties left me utterly deflated, stale bread and unappealing toppings just didn't cut it this time. My friend enjoyed the refreshing gazpacho and the tortilla soup I had was tasty. Don't get me wrong, I like to love this place but as in a relationship you have to prove yourself to be worthy. That is getting tougher each day in Austin with so much talent and better options out there. PLEASE train your staff to smile from time to time. Will be back eventually I am sure.

Casual entertainment

Lunch in the Live Oak

By beatstew |

Had a nice lunch outside in the middle of a beautiful Live Oak. The food was good and the atmosphere great. Savanah did a fantastic job and has a great personality. Recommended.

Disappointing.

By Thomas M |

I ordered the Steak Salad with Smoked Gouda. It was bland and I would not recommend it. My wife ordered the Asian Crisp Salad with chicken and she said it was delicious. Our granddaughter ordered a dish of ice cream for dessert but we finally gave up waiting and asked for the check.

Hidden Jem

By BOSOX18 |

This is establishment was a pleasant surprise. Menu was extensive and very good......Pizza to pasta. Great service....and wine list is extensive.

Great Ambiance, good food

By charleeb2017 |

Went here for dinner on a recent trip to Austin. Sat outside and loved all the lights and the laid back vibe. Had the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was great. Our waiter was hot and cold...one minute he was very friendly and the next seemed a little preoccupied. Couldn't really read him. Other than that, I enjoyed it. Would go back the next time I am in Austin.

Nice casual dining

By Sholto S |

We had a lovely dinner for four last night and it was a beautiful night to enjoy the outdoor dining. We started with really good Grilled Brussels Sprouts and bruschetta from the appetizer menu and followed up with a nice variety of entrees from the Impossible Burger to Spaghetti Bolognese and Cerviche to Farfalle with grilled chicken. All we delicious! The service was super friendly and we look forward to our next visit.

An Austin favorite for business or pleasure

By Dada the World Traveler |

I love the Grove. The patio is one of the best in Austin, awesome day or night. Inside it's comfortable, and the bar is cool. Service is consistently good. They have a great wine selection. I like the wine flights to try several. The pizza is good - not the best but no complaints. The shrimp bisque is delicious. The bruschetta is fantastic. Salads are great, especially miso salmon. crispy Shrimp is also a favorite. The one in Lakeway is great too. You can't go wrong with the Grove, especially with its sister Lola Savannah coffee shop next door.

Poorly staffed and overpriced

I met some folks from out of town for a business dinner at this location, at their request. We were a party of four and it took forever for our waiter to take our order. Once we had ordered we sat back and waited. After 20-25 minutes the bruschetta was delivered and it was nice but the orders were small. Another 1/2 an hour wait and the food was delivered. Two of the four dishes were cold (steak salad and Bolgnese) and the other two (both fish) got a "so-so" rating from the diners. I'll encourage the next person who asks me to meet them here to find a different spot since my guests were quite disappointed.

Don’t go to the Grove. Terrible food and poor service.

By David S |

This place has been over rated for a long time because there are very few restaurants in Westlake. The food is not good, the recipes are old, the Management is not on their game. I will not be going here again. If you go a little further out in to the Bee Cave area, there are several nice places. Carve located out on SW Parkway is one of the best run places around. If you want Mexican try Las Palomas. Asian fusion- try Sway. THE GROVE IS AWFUL -bad management and bad food.

Excellent

By juanb0b |

Went to the grove to meet up with friends. Their staff was friendly and very helpful with wine and food selection. Quality foid and wine. I highly recommend this place!!!

Very good brunch.

By Jay F |

Met some friends here for brunch. Had reservations for 6 and were promptly seated. Ordered a bottle of sparkling wine - Cremant d'Alsace - and a couple of glasses of wine while we studied the menu. The regular menu was available along with eight or so special brunch items. The Bruschetta are always good and several people ordered them as starters - and delightfully shared. Another ordered Calamari and they were tasty and nicely fried. Mains included very good crab cakes, a very good salad with seared tuna, and stuffed quail from the main menu. My wife and I were there for brunch for the first time so we ordered from the special brunch options and had the Grove Hash with pulled pork and two eggs and Vegetarian Bowl with two eggs on top. Both were very good. The Grove bowl was heavier and more substantial while the Vegetarian Bowl felt lighter and healthier. All together a good experience with good service. Recommended!

It was just O.K.

By froglegs55 |

Wine was good. Service was pretty good. Tomato/Shrimp Bisque was average. Oyster appetizer was my favorite dish. Seasame Crusted Ahi Tuna, Granite Salad & Ahi Tuna Poke were fine...not great...but good. My big beef is that we were bothered by flies inside this restaurant for the duration of our meal. There really wasn't anything WRONG with the place but it didn't impress me enough to return.

Always excellent

By TravellingTex |

This remains my all-time favorite Austin restaurant. We always sit in the bar where superstar bartender Kari takes care of us. This time we ordered the crispy skinned salmon, meat lover's pizza, and halibut, all absolutely delicious. And the wines on the extensive wine list are reasonably price. A real gem.

dry kobe hamburger

By widlifer |

monday evening, ate at the Grove on bee caves road in Austin. ordered $13 kobe hamburger due to my brother's suggestion, ordered it medium. was very dry, overcooked, to well done or beyond. had to use 2 mayo cups to lubricate it. side dish of potato chips were not thoroughly cooked, they were mushy, instead of crispy. should have complained. did not want to embarrass my brother. have eaten at Grove in Lakeway 3 times never a problem.

5/24/20

By Alex Davis |

What can I say- bad experience. No valet. Couldn’t accommodate seating preference and hostess could not care less. Didn’t get order right, slow service, again snobby hostess. Did I mention the hostess was not good? Restaurant workers are not front line employees, no matter how much they may feel like it. Horrible experience, will not be back.

Reservations Now Required?

By sacastleman |

Always my favorite place to eat when I’m in the area on business. I was disappointed to not be able to eat on the patio (solo) without a reservation, which has never been required before; but luckily got to enjoy dinner inside at the bar.

Stinky Septic Supper

By Allen P |

The Grove has an incredible wine list, great food and solid service. I have enjoyed past visits, but this time it was a mess. There is a chronic sewer problem that causes a smell across the entire outdoor area. One would think that spending almost $1000 would give us a smell-free dinner, but the smell grew worse during our dinner. DO NOT go here until they fix this problem. (BTW, they have known about this issue for some time)

Disappointed in the Service!

By Jenn |

We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and we got outdoor seating. It's nice but very LOUD. You have to yell to the person next to you but maybe that's normal at this time. The service was bad, it took 20 min for out waitress to give us water and meet us for the first time. I wanted to try a wine there and asked for a sample before ordering a glass. The sample NEVER came!!! I understand if she was running around to other tables around us BUT she was hardly seen! Her other tables were also looking around to find her and that is disappointing!!! When our food finally came out, she came by and asked if we needed anything....then she realized she never brought out my wine sample. She should have just went and got it but instead gave me excuses as to why she forgot!!!! TERRIBLE!!!!

Perfect Place to Meet for Wine and Easy Treats

By Jennifer L |

A delightful experience. The atmosphere was easy and relaxed. We sat at the bar, had it been more pleasant (temperature) , we would have sat on their wonderful patio. They have impressive wine list with several by the glass selections for under $10. We chose a lovely Rose @ $5.75. We started out with some bruschetta. You have your choice of 10 varieties, the plate is comprised by 3 choices. All delicious!! Next up, off the small plate menu was the Ahi Tuna Poke...amazing!! So many items on the menu looked amazing. Check it out!

Wine and dinner

By Melanie D |

We sat inside for dinner but the grove of trees over the patio looked amazing. It was a hot spell over 100 degrees that day. I got the Heirloom tomato and Burata which was amazing. great service.

Noisy

By Patricia H |

We stopped by thinking it would be perfect location to enjoy the Hill Country view while sipping a drink. Inside we saw a group of young kids having pizza together. Very casual very mediocre.

Outstanding 5 Star

By happytraveler4209 |

What a chef!! Every dish was unique, flavorful and a delight. The house salad has a dressing that was one of the best I’ve tasted. The capellini both with chicken and with shrimp was over the top. The bruschetta is absolutely worth ordering. Skip the bread pudding. Mine was over cooked, almost burned. The only disappointment of the evening. I absolutely plan to return. I hope the owners will open a place in the Ft. Worth area.

Fabulous Food & Mamosa Bar

By Tonya B |

My family and I went for breakfast. The food is delicious and presented beautifully. I had a vegetarian breakfast with eggs, avocado, cheese and potatoes. I would have it again, loved it!!! The mamosa bar is dynamite!!! Great variety of juice choices for the mamosas. My favorite was the pomegranate, fabulous!!! The atmosphere is hip, just great. The service is superb. I will be going back.

Wonderful wine + pizza + service

By Greg T |

Traveling through town looking for a good place for pizza with a view of the lake. My wife searched and found a recommendation for The Grove and we tried it out. Initially we were very disappointed that the restaurant was not on the lake and didn't have a view, but tried it anyway. We were seated outside on the multi-level deck built around a beautiful old live oak tree that covers the entire deck. The tree is covered in lights and makes for very nice ambiance to have a glass of wine or dinner outside. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She recommended a good bottle of wine that was on special, which we enjoyed. We had the meat lovers pizza and a cesar salad - both were wonderful. If you're looking for good place for a happy hour, family meal, business dinner, or romantic time, The Grove can accommodate you.

Special place

By Joey Toler |

First time here. Glad we stopped. The ambience under the collection of Live Oaks made the meal that much better. I typically only find a couple of things on a menu I’m willing to try, but not the case here. Everything looked amazing and what we did order, was delicious. King Salmon!!! Bruschetta options!! Wine flights!! Brussels!! Pizza!! Coffee!!! Next time we’re in Austin, we’ll set aside a dinner here.

Great patio

By Webbexx |

They have a great outdoor area that is shaded with a beautiful old oak tree. I visited during lunch time, but I can imagine how wonderful night time ambiance they have out there! I loved their salads variety, they have a really nice variety of dishes and the kids menu is also good. We didn't have any wine, but they have a great selection! I'll for sure will be visiting soon again!

Bad experience, poor management

By John C |

This was my second visit to the Grove. The first time was pretty good. This time was a disaster. My wife, grown son and I asked for a table for 3. First, we were shuffled off to the "Coffee Shop" for seating instead of the regular floor where there were several empty tables. This turned out to be horrible because the other tables in the coffee shop were families with several young, loud kids. Then the food came all at once. By that I mean they brought the bruschetta, salads, cup of chili, crispy oysters, crab cake all at once. The crab cake and crispy oysters were not warm. The "crispy" oyster were soggy. The venison chili was pretty good. Otherwise, we were very unhappy. When we were leaving I asked to speak to the manager. She said the seating in the coffee shop was purely random and it is not their policy to seat children exclusively in the coffee shop. Although there were no kids in the main restaurant area and two large groups in the coffee shop. She apologized for the situation and offered to take care of the bill. I told her that would not be necessary. We ate our food and were not looking for a free meal. She ended up giving us a $25 coupon for another meal. That was a waste as we will never be back.

Great View

By Christine1213 |

The place is very lovely; it has a very nice dining room inside and great patio space outside. We went for a friend's birthday and wanted just to relax and take it easy, but don't get the impression that that's what this restaurant was about. It seemed more about getting folks in and out and they weren't even that busy. Service was not very good and I think that is, again, because we weren't in any hurry, wanted to sit back, relax, enjoy, catch-up, but our slower pace wasn't the waiter's specialty. Nice enough, but didn't take the best care of us. Had a really nice bottle of wine, but food was just ok. Started with spicy shrimp and that was pretty good, but two of us had Avocado BLT and it wasn't anything special. Then asked for jalepenos to spice it up and they brought us four slices. We asked for more and never got them. Other friend had kelp pad thai and it didn't have much seasoning to it either, kinda bland. Our waiter did bring a piece of b-day cake at end, but it wasn't the best. Found out it was gluten free; guess nice if you had issues, but, otherwise, I wouldn't order it. Overall, very disappointing. Know they have good salads, but wouldn't go back on my own.

Skip desert

By John Paul |

Food lacked flavor. Was just okay. Desert was a fail. I love a good key lime pie. But this one was extra sour. Inedible. We tried a couple bruschettas which were fine. Had the sausage and shrimp pasta and it was just ok. Wife tried the bolognese which she liked. Cool atmosphere. Server was really nice and took good care of us. Scenic drive out there. Cool outdoor seating for when it’s not 100 out. Just was not a fan of the food itself.

Good Food, Better Service

By Joey P |

Our waiter, Daniel was awesome. He was engaging and attentive but not intrusive. He visited with us upon our arrival and did not hurry us along the way. We chose different red wine flights and enjoyed them immensely. I ordered Flight #5 which were the Bordeaux wines and were delish! My colleague ordered the Short Rib and I ordered the Snapper. The meals were great, the portions ample and we were satisfied. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert and were very disappointed. It was dry and nowhere near what bread pudding should be. Most restaurants serve a small carafe of vanilla sauce or other appropriate sauce to pour over the dessert. This particular one was a disappointment.

Nice place, good wine

By Roland R |

The wine was good, the appetizers were varied and tasty. The value was ok, but would like to have had a little better wine to give a five rating.

Very Good and Very Different Casual Restaurant near Austin TX with a Killer Panorama View

By Frank M |

Small very casual restaurant focusing on Wine Flights (3 different wines) at very affordable prices + a wide range of reasonable priced appetizers - main courses - desserts; Ahi Tuna salad, Salmon, Gourmet Pizza's, Creme Brulee (3 different ones). Valet Parking and a panoramic view of the valley far below. Enjoyable and different

Beautiful outdoor setting

By toomuchstuff4010 |

Love how The Grove has covered the oak tree limbs with lights. Makes for a great outdoor setting on the deck. Food and wine was good too!

Wine and interesting eats

By John C |

We ate here before going to One World Theater. Their focus is obviously wine but the food was outstanding. I had the stuffed Quail breast and the capellini with shrimp. There were lots of other interesting choice on the menu. I'll have to go back and try them. Service was very good. It was too hot to do so this trip but they have a great outdoor area for dining also.

Always a favorite

By Cbleumaven |

Sitting outside with heaters keeping us warm, four of us revisited The Grove recently. The service is always stellar and food consistently great. So convenient to Barton Creek Resort and to 360. I always love to order the red fish when I'm in south Texas and was not dissapointed! Very good wine list!

Great food and ambiance. Worst bathroom muzak

By Wilson C |

Went in around 1 after the lunch rush and was seated promptly. Food was excellent. Who plays "Lady in Red", "Material Girl", and others for bathroom music though?

Great place to dine!!

By Tracey M |

This place had fabulous bruschetta, a ton of wine choices and something for everyone! The inside is small and the outside is beautiful, but beyond hot in July.

Just right for a Sunday bite

By texmex2345 |

Stopped in for a light lunch/brunch on a Sunday. Weather was nice and we sat outside . Service was very good as was the food. We shared a bruschetta appetizer which was very good and had soup and salads! Great atmosphere.. Friendly environment. Definitely will go back!!

Excellent food and service

By John M |

Great food and service. Great choice for lunch or dinner. They have great salads and I really enjoyed their Pizza. There are many choices so everyone in your party should be happy

Meh.

By Nathan |

Stopped here for a client lunch meeting. Parking was horrific and the valet stand was vacant, so finally found a spot on the rooftop of their parking garage. I'm no stranger to limited parking so I never judge a restaurant by that. The reason for the 3 stars is that The Grove is just ok. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't mind blowing, it was ok. I'll start with the negatives. First and foremost the hostess must have been having a rough day because she was quite rude and cold. The anti-hostess if you will. After she pointed at my table, that's right, I said pointed, I walked over and met my client. The server then took our drink and food orders. I ordered the Cuban Press with only meat, and the client ordered the burger. When the food came out, the burger was spot on, but the Cuban Press had everything on it. I thought, "no big deal, I'm not going to send this back." Now the positives. The service was great. After taking one bite of the press I was thinking that finishing it would be pretty difficult, then another server came out with a Cuban Press with meat only and apologized profusely about the mix up. Our server was great and seemed to always have perfect timing in checking on us, and we enjoyed the rest of our visit. In summary, I wouldn't be opposed to going back if I'm in the area, but I'm not going out of my way to pop in for a bite. Cheers.

Don’t order fried oysters

By Fred N |

Fried oysters are dunked in a creamy sauce that eliminates the taste of the oysters. Trying to salvage the dish, I asked for some cocktail sauce. None was available. My wife had red fish tacos. They were good.

More here than wine

By Robert M |

Dinner for two on a Tuesday night. Patio looked very nice but we didn't want to wait for a table so sat inside, which is also very nice. Dinner menu had broad selection. Both entrees were good, but the star of the evening was the Grove Sampler appetizer: two kinds of hummus plus olive tampanade, served with both pita pieces and crisp slices of carrot & cucumber for dipping. Good beer selection too.

Extraordinary Wine Bar

By Omar R |

The food, service and the wine all were outstanding. I really liked the idea of the different Wine Flights... very clever idea. The atmosphere is lively and very lovely. Kudos to the management!

Nice atmosphere and options for private dining

By WinecountryMartha |

I was with a large group and they kindly found a large private area for us (requested in advance). The food catered to a large rang of tastes and the wine was excellent. I had short ribs, which were about 8" long or more, but hey, I guess it is Texas and nothing is short. The service was solid.

Great patio

By GC50MH56 |

This marks the second time we've been here. After the COVID pandemic and not wanting to eat inside any restaurant, this was a great choice due to it's expansive outdoor shaded patio. They have a nice kid's menu, and our son ordered the cheese pizza this time. Slightly charred on the bottom, it appeared to be baked in a real pizza oven. We ordered salads, with mine being the large wedge. Plenty of Feta and bacon, the house-made dressing was awesome. My husband ordered the Ora Salmon salad, and his salmon was done perfectly. All-in-all, a nice pleasant and relaxing place to dine with an extensive wine list, too.

Perfect place for family dinning

By RBayon1 |

This little place has it all for the whole family, The menu is very broad, from “pressed sandwitches” and pizza for the kids to gourmet entres for the adults. The coconut curry halibut was delicious, cooked to perfection and beautifully garnished, All the above in a very casual fanily atmosphere, Awesome place!

Really nice restaurant with a great view

By msangalang |

I visited here with some friends while I was in town for a few hours. The restaurant has an assortment of foods and wines. We sat outside and the view was spectacular.

Wine and small plates in the afternoon

By TFloc |

We found ourselves with a free afternoon in Austin and stopped in here. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather in addition to the food and wine. We expected to only taste a flight, but ended up also drinking a glass of our favorite taste. The flights come with tasting notes that are spot on and helpful. I loved everyone of the Pinots I tasted. The wines were from smaller, less well known wineries. I being able to taste from newly discovered wineries. The food was fresh and delicious. All of the bruschetta combinations we had were spectacular, the Brussels were addicting, and the cheese plate tasted as good as it looked. This was a perfect afternoon.

Excellent Salads

By mikeaustin |

The salads are fresh with a portion size that is filling. The Kale salad is my favorite. They also offer coffee from Lola Savannah

nice menu

By desertfoxxx |

Stopped in with small group, most folks went the soup and sandwich route, I went for 2 small plates. Good service, huge wine selection, good coffees. Can get a bit loud if larger parties are present. Easy to find although not really visible from the road. Would go again on my next visit to the area!

Very pleased with food & wine

By Sibylle R |

Graduation weekend and it was a busy, buzzing place and we got there at 8:30. The staff seemed noticeably deflated. The hostess didn't even look up, no greeting, little off putting. We were happy campers once we finally had wine and food though I recall the bread from the Bruschetta being more wholesome. From Easy Tiger still? All other items were delicious. Service was little slow but again, we sat happily on the patio on a muggy evening and sipped away, looking at the full moon. Lovely spot!

Delicious Meals All Around

By Hobie58 |

Had Sunday brunch at the Grove with family after church - the inside is smallish and quant, however, they have a large outside seating area. The menu is not large - but we ordered a variety of entrees from breakfast (hash, eggs, etc) to lunch (thai noodles, hamburgers, soups) AND EVERYONE left happy with their choices. Don't miss this place if you are in the area.

Great Ambiance, Great Food, Above Average Service

By Robin Y |

We went with friends and just absolutely loved the outdoor setting with the lights strung in the trees. The wine choices were excellent, but we were most impressed that when 2 of us had ordered lamb, it seemed as if they didn't have any. The waitress went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we got exactly what we'd ordered. It was a great night together and the atmosphere was busy but not crowded in feel, with the trees creating a natural ambiance that felt cozy and intimate.

Fun atmosphere and great menu

By ajgibb1 |

Very nice atmosphere, great service and very nice varied menu. Fairly priced and many ways to please everyone including incredible pizza.

Good luncheon spot

By JoAnn W |

The menu has some very interesting items on it that have always turned out to be very good. Service is great and they don't mind you extending lunch at your table. Parking can be a challenge, but there is valet service if you don't want to park further away when there are no close spots.

Cool patio and wine selection

By Austin D |

They had a good selection of wine flights so we tried two of them and some apps. Food and wine was great, prices were decent all things considered. There is a very large patio that's worth sitting on at night when it's cooler, however beware of the moquettes!

Hidden Gem!

By Jon U |

Was here once when it was a sushi restaurant, the views are amazing! Food is eclectic! lots of choices for any appetite! Will be back!

This is a great place to have dinner and wine.

By Jeff |

I love eating their King Salmon; which you don`t see on menus. It is fabulous. The wine selection is also excellent. Joshua was an excellent waiter; especially since my sister is a picky eater. He really took care of us.

wide variety of options on menu, great service. a little bit loud due to acoustics

By steve g |

The menu had significant variety for a vegetarian. the service was amazingly fast. i had asian noodles and bruschetta- lots of varieties to choose from. (i would only ask that the waiter see if you want a straw before automatically giving it- too much wasted plastic in this world)

Best brussel sprouts I've ever had

By AliseUntamed |

Try the crispy brussel sprouts, I could have licked my plate! Everyone's meal was fantastic, no crumbs left. Great space. Service oriented staff, everyone was friendly and helpful. Did not rush us. When we ordered soup or salad with the entree it would be been great if they didn't come out of the kitchen together, but they did. Mgmt please take note that they should be separate or at least ask and give the option for people to choose. Great location to One World Theatre, was a great pre concert dinner. Will be back!!!!

Nice wine bar / restaurant, come after 9pm it's less noisy

By Lulgiss |

This is a typical Texan, large, loud and impersonal place but nice though. However, after 9pm, the place gets less crowded and you can actually start talking with the person in front of you. The pizza dough is bizarre, like oily but the what comes on top of it is very good. Had Pizza Wine Lovers ok+ except dough (writing this for me: those of Mandolas are way above). Burati very good. "Flight 8" (3x Italian wines) is good except the Chianti. Flight 1 (the Bubbly ones) are very average. Very good Ķey-lime. Service ok+ About the "Cheap Eats / Mid-range / Fine Dining" - these criteria don't go together. You can Fine Dine for low price or have expensive cheap food. We paid $84 +tip for 6 glasses of wine (6-floz), 1 small pizza, 1 burata, 1 key-lime cake.

Good food, service, and atmosphere!

By Sabrina F |

I went here with a large group of people, and the waiter, Joshua, was very patient and more than willing to accommodate us all! The food was excellent! I had the avocado BLT and my fiancé had the cuban press, with which we were both very impressed. There is a great coffee shop attached inside, so that was a nice addition to our meal as well.

Food and ambience---wonderful

By LBHouston11 |

Casual place to visit and have a great lunch. Great menu and attentive service. Quinoa and spinach salad was fabulous. Soups, sandwiches--- Outdoors is perfect and umbrellas allow for any table to have shade. Indoors is also nice but why in Austin does anyone ever want to be indoors!! Loved it!

Good food not for people of color or not Gentrified enough, as a Hispanic woman Worst service I’ve had in my life

By Somaya H |

This place is great if you’re Caucasian passing I look younger because I’m Hispanic not great :/ I had one good server , I had the okra and calamari which was good but truly disappointing with the customer service as well as atmosphere, I mainly went in to read I tried my best to get in and out and eat and be as peaceful as possible, I was celebrating my birthday and having passed entrance exams this same weekend, I paid cash and left as quickly as I could because it was truly disappointing as a person in health care:/ I could’ve had the same dinner at home for less with no stress and a good cup of wine which I’d originally gone in for :/ first time there I’ll give them that the foods decent in my opinion not too heavy filling and light my server was cool tho the one that ended up closing out my tab that is. IM colored when tan so I’ll be ordering to go if I ever do decide to come back with my husband

Great views and great wine

By TOM A |

Had dinner here recently. Besides a terrific meal with wide selection of reasonably priced wines you get a terrific view of the hills and valley below. Can eat outside to enjoy views even more.

Great date night

By mamachickto4 |

The flights of wine were a fun way to try new wines. We shared the beet salad small plate and fried brussel sprouts, which were fantastic! The wine lover's pizza hit the spot for something out of the ordinary. Although, next time, I would ask for light arugula. Our server was amazing, I think his name was Matt. Great service and sweet ambiance.

A Quiet Gem of an Oasis for Drinks and Dinner

By BizM0m |

The Grove on Bee Cave Rd. is tucked into a strip center, but once you step inside, you will never remember where you started. Charming ambience with wine racks, a small private bar, and a stellar patio set under picturesque oak trees. Small plates, gluten free options, and a variety of sophisticated classics are on the menu. Great spot for people watching and cocktails.

3 of these in Austin we go to the one in Lakeway

By Dennis L |

Best happy hour we have found, food, service are the very best!! Has Vegetarian options. Great happy hour prices.

Best tortilla soup, nice wine list

By dt95 |

We had a great quick dinner at The Grove. Tortilla soup was among the best ever. Salmon was nicely prepared and large for a salad. Kale salad was huge and tasty. Really enjoyed the wine list, which is extensive - will be back to try more. It was raining, so we ate inside and it was noisy. Outside patio looks really nice - will give it a try soon.

Great food with quick service and reasonable price

By sher2011 |

I had their lunch special – a bowl of chili and pork tacos. The service was fast during the busy lunch hour (we sat at the bar since seating at table was unavailable) the quality of the food was good and the quantity was more than enough for my consumption. Highly recommend this place for a quick bite.

So Far, Not Good

By Syd |

Menu has not been updated on T.A.... everything's more expensive and no option for pizza by the slice on the weekend. I'll update this review once we get our food 😬

Great PATIO Our most frequented place for lunch and dinner.

By Cinda B |

Wonderful food and wines with varied menu. My favorites include the pizza, steak and Gouda salad, crostinis. Patio is super. Casual relaxed and fun - friendly service- we always enjoy it

Laid-back, lively, loud (in a cheerful way), and delicious --

By Itinerant_scholar |

We've only lived in the Austin area for a little less than two years, so we're still exploring the restaurants and neighborhoods, but we finally got to the Grove in Westlake on a really hot Thursday evening in August. As the name suggests, the establishment is in a grove of fine old live oaks surrounding one end of a small shopping area on the southwest side of Bee Cave road (RM 2244). It might be easy to miss, both because of the trees and because the building is on a small slope down from the main road, but stick with it, and you'll be glad you did. We chose a really excellent dry rose wine to begin -- although there are many other attractive bottles and wine flights to be had, which we will look into -- and began with bruschetta (note to the universe: it's "bru-SKETT-a", and *not* "bru-SHETT-a"; the "h" turns the "c" into a hard consonant, in the same way that we say "spa-GETT-i" and not "spa-JETT-i"). It's offered in about a dozen variations, and ten dollars will get you any three; the bread slices are large but not huge, which is good. Madame's spicy ginger noodles had quite a few shrimp; she'd hoped it was a cold dish, Asian-style, but liked the hot version anyway. My sausage-mushroom-and-goat-cheese pizza (medium size, with large being the only alternative) was truly excellent. The crust reminded me of some of the best we've had in Italy, and was almost as thin. Bread pudding as a shared dessert took quite a while to arrive; when we asked, we were told it took fifteen minutes, which is fair enough but that should have been mentioned when we ordered. But it was worth the wait, and one serving was more than enough for our two semi-geriatric appetites. Madame and I chose to sit indoors, given the oppressive heat, but look forward to coming back on a more temperate evening and sitting out under the trees. Noise levels indoors were quite high, but not really oppressive, when we were seated at 7:20 or so; by 8PM a few tables had opened up, and the din subsided considerably. But it was the kind of noise you get when people are relaxing, and not the sort that you get from a steakhouse table full of young spreadsheet jockeys who are braying for the boss's attention. Some parking is available in a small lot in front of the building, although the other stores have posted signs reserving some of the spots; but drive up a small slope toward the west of the patio area and there is free valet parking to be had -- I was *very* glad to see that. We're really looking forward to returning, several times I'd hope; there is a lot to explore in the menu, and if it isn't 102 degrees outside the setting is hard to beat as well. Strongly recommended!

One of the few times I wanted nothing on the menu

By barretta |

It's been a while since I've eaten here, and the menu has undergone some poor changes. The several things I looked forward to on every other visit were gone, replaced with - in my opinion - misguided or mis-executed dishes. Who wants chicken enchilada lasagna? Also unfortunate for 3006 folks. Sad.

Fantastic outdoor patio!

By Climber15455428258 |

This seemed to be a landmark to the locals so on a trip I gave it a try. The entire outdoor seating area is situated underneath a huge tree with lights on all of the branches. it gets a 10/10 for that. They have an extensive wine list and their 3-vineyard flights are a great way to try out a selection. Good menu selection, my roast chicken was just OK. Service was prompt but far from friendly. Pricing was a bit on the high side for what you got.

really nice.

By Rick B |

Dine indoors dine out this place had plenty of both. You want wine? Total Wine has nothing on the amount of wine this place stocked and displayed. The ladies both got a flight of wine one a pinot noir the other....I forget anyway it amounted to a glass and a half for the price of a glass. Not bad. The food was very good. I tried the Cuban because who can ever pass on a Cuban sandwich when it appears on a menu. It was served with in house made chips. My daughter got the chicken enchilada which was served as more of a lasagna then a rolled object and was very tasty. The guys we got some local craft brews and they were outstanding. Can wait to go back to this place and maybe eat outside We chose inside this time as it was a brutally hot evening.

Oops. Don’t go here. Try Las Palomas just down the street. Or, even Rudy’s bbq.

So tired. So worn out. Old, old recipes with no innovation. Maybe you are drawn to the mundane. If so, this is your place. The staff is especially bad as well.

Nice place for a wind stop.

The Grove was our lunch stop for a meeting. The food was good, not great. The place was very noisy. Service was very good. Not the place to go to talk.

Quality light choices with an interesting wine list

By adalbert3 |

I had been here a few times for lunch and met friends this last time for dinner. Each time I have been here, I enjoy the lightness and freshness of the choices. My friends frequent the restaurant more than I, and had their specific entrée salad favorites---the Caesar Salad with Chicken and the Large House Salad with a Crab Cake. I have enjoyed salads at lunch and wanted something different, and thus went with the Chicken Farfalle---I was pleased. We split the Crème Brulee (which was very good), had some quality wine-by-the-glass choices with our meal and all left happy.

A little High Brow with Diverse Wine Selection for Meal or Retail

By dcmalo |

I have eaten at The Grove more than once in Austin. The menu items are fresh and interesting, for the most part. Caters to dietary restrictions and fad eaters. Food is fresh, salads tasty. The wine selection is fairly diverse (and pricy). I became aware that this restaurant will also sell their wine retail upon departure. I tried a tasty white burgundy, and enjoyed it. I think it caters to the trendy population, who don't mind spending more for less...not that I have ever walked away hungry. Although I have not tried it, there is outdoor seating for just the right day when the weather is amenable to outdoor dining. I go because my brother and sister-in-law like it. It's a place to meet people and be seen, I guess. Not being from the area, I probably don't place the same value on all the amenities. Clean and modern, it's likely a popular destination for lunch or dinner (I have been here for both). Our waiter person was very pleasant and helpful.

Cramped seating but good place

By Lee |

I like their menu and wine list. (enjoyed a wine flight) . We had roasted chicken and halibut which were both good as was our service. The only reason i only gave it three stars as the seating inside is a bit cramped . Don’t enjoy hearing about strangers problems that are seated right next to you. If you go …sit outside … it looks good .

Update--the property is improving and is very popupar

By 1234texas |

It has been a while since we have stopped here--an oversight that we will not duplicate in the future! The property has really stepped it up a notch since our last visit. The food is still excellent, but we had the the all meat pizza for the first time. It was great and there are 3 other options--it appears that this is a very popular item on the menu. The soup options are also excellent. The addition of the flights of wine is really a nice touch. It gives you the opportunity to taste a bunch of wines for a very reasonable price. The outdoor dining area is very nice--as is the inside, which is far less crowded on the weekends. Getting a table outside can be challenging. This is the first time that we have discovered that there is additional parking behind and also west of the restaurant. The front lot seems to always be crowded and people will leave if they do not see a parking slot! The ones behind are very easy to access to/from the restaurant. For what you get, the prices are good. Service is a little slow, but the food is worth the wait!

Excellent pizza

By CorkYvonney |

We ate here in June from a recommendation. The food was so fresh and light. I hate heavy stodgy food, and the pizzas here were light and crispy. We shared the brushetta to start. Really tasty and fresh. Then I ordered the wine lovers pizza, with gorgonzola and fig. Delicous! For dessert, we got Pineapple sponge. So good, sweet and soft. We are hoping to be back in Austin again in October and we will be going here again. Highly recommend.

Excellent salad

The grove on Bee Cave is the newest location, which is situated in a central location in the Westlake area of Austin. I was there for lunch and had the seared tuna salad, which was very tasty. The dressing was also very good-my only complaint was the small serving of tuna. There were only 4 pieces, although they were decent size. For $15, I would have expected more than four tuna bites. The ambiance was upscale and hip and is a local favorite. We sat in the bar area, although there is also seating on the popular outdoor deck, which is shaded, or inside in the main dining area if it is too hot outside.

The place has a wide variety of wines, it is trendy. They are located in the heart of business district and a easy walk. Food was good, service excellent. They have a patio when the weather is nice.

Wine with a view

Really cool spot to have some wine. The food looked good, but we didn't have any. Amazing view of the Hill Country. Service was good.

Dining al fresco at the Grove

By MG L |

This was our first time to try the Grove. This location has an otherworldly outdoor patio dominated by the branches of a small grove of Oaks, thus the name. Sitting outside was wonderful and the tree branches are wrapped with pretty lights. We tried the Mediterranean pizza and Reeds salad. The pizza was hot and tasty from the brick pizza oven. It had generous toppings. A medium was plenty for the two of us to share. The salad was simple and delicious. We we're glad to try it. Our server was friendly and helpful.

Great Birthday Dinner

By Deb B |

We were in Austin for a long weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday. She specifically requested to have her birthday dinner here another friend had recommended it. We absolutely loved this place. We sat inside but the outside patio is gorgeous, set around trees that are lit up at night. Our server Laurie was exceptional as she was attentive and friendly and made recommendations. The prices were very reasonable as were the prices on the extensive wine list. We started with the bruschetta and it was a yummy start. I had the chicken which was so good. One friend had the redfish; wonderful as was her rice. Another friend had the ahi tuna. It came out over cooked but Laurie graciously returned it to the kitchen and brought out an entire new plate, perfectly done. We brought a birthday cake to the restaurant which Laurie took from us then later came out with the candles lit. So nice. Can't wait to go back.

This restaurant restored my faith in Austin

Stayed at Granduca hotel - disappointing and dull! No transportation available despite being offered as a service, so I had to drive, there is no walkable restaurant. Nearest eatery was The Grove Winebar, what a fantastic choice. Packed with loads of atmosphere. Eat inside or outside. Great choice of wine and bruschetta starters varied and delicious. I had salmon and my wife the meatballs. All washed down with a bottle of Chenin Blanc. Our visit to The Grove saved the day after the hotel. Thank you TripAdvisor!

Next time we are in Austin, we’ll definitely be back!!

The atmosphere, the outdoor seating under their incredible oak tree, their friendly/competent staff and their delicious food - all these things will bring us back to The Grove! They have incredibly delicious gluten free bread, bruschetta, and pizza crust.

Good place for takeout during Covid

By arodnick |

The Grove has a large selection on its menu, including pizza. They also have good outdoor seating capability. Since we're avoiding indoor restaurants right now, this place offers a better takeout menu than many.
