I am certified pizzaiolo myself so I am a very strict judge of pizza. That being said I have heard the rumors of Texas pizza and I must say this was a very pleasant surprise! The atmosphere in this place was very cool. Hip trendy and minimalist. They have coaches and people reading books sipping wine as they enjoy their pizza. Very cool place. Nice staff. The flavor combinations used were creative and delicious. The margarita was not your typical Neapolitan but very close and still tasty. The pepperoni with honey was definitely our favorite. I’m very true to traditional pizza making. I for one love wood burning ovens and I’m not a big fan of the gas flame almost wood burning ovens. I think I expected a true wood burning oven so I was a little disappointed in the doughy and not crispy crunching crush and I miss the flavor the wood give the dough. But all in all I’m in Texas not New York or Connecticut so I was quite pleased! I’m a foodie that travels for pizza. If that wasn’t the case I could see how some say this is the best pizza they ever had!

This is our first time at The Gipsy Poet. The place is very poor but comfortable and kids friendly. The waiters and all the staff are very nice and friendly. The pizza is not my favorite but it’s good for a not Italian pizza. The ingredients are fresh and the dough is not super heavy. Probably they should add more options in the menu. At the end my review is positive, probably we can go again but it’s not again my favorite.

The best pizza! In looking for a place to eat after a theater show, we stumble to this place... The reviews were great so we were willing to give it a try! The reviews were spot on! The pizza was amazing-- and the little touch of giving you fresh basil leaves and shaved parmesan cheese was brilliant! On top of coming nice and hot from the brick oven, it gave an extra hint of freshness. The atmosphere is a fresh cool layback vibe. And the staff is super friendly and courteous! We will definitely will be coming back!

Super fun and with amazing food. Great neighbor with a cool eclectic space. The inside space is large with fun seating options. Outside is nicely done. Atmosphere is whimsical and tasteful. We were not there for any live music but the games and interesting things to play with were cool. The pizza was fresh and delicious, cooked perfectly in their food fired oven. The staff were very welcoming. Can’t say enough good about the restaurant. Give it a try.

My son recommended this place . We ordered 4 pizzas for 6 people, The pizzas were delicious, we tried Marguerite The Queen , Pepperoni Madness, Fancy Backpacker and Sicilian Journey. The crust was crunchy but not hard, just right, the vegetables were fresh and not wilted, they were so good, they were served promptly and hot. They sell the drinks (soda and beer ) by individual containers) . The have a counter filled with games and puzzles to play while you wait for the pizza. We will visit them pretty soon to try the rest of the menu.

Great pizza! You walk in and order at the counter, then go find seating either inside or outside. They have games and other things to do while you wait. We ordered the salads and they were both fantastic! Our pizzas came out in no time and they were delicious. The hot honey adds a whole other level of tastiness to the pizza. Try it, you won't regret it.

Arrived within 5 minutes of them opening on a Saturday, and people were already there, popular place! The staff are friendly and talkative. They have a good selection of beers and other non-alcoholic drinks in the cooler, and a great wide selection of pizzas. You can't go wrong. The food arrived fairly quickly, and the pizzas have extras like basil, shaved parm and hot pepper flakes for you to add at your whim. Also, there's hot honey if you like a little sweetness. All in all a good experience and I'll be going back!

I was so shocked by the quality of this pizza restaurant in Downtown Houston. We were recommended by some local tour guides wirh astroTours and they did not lie, this is some DARN GOOD pizza. I would compare it to the type of pizza they make in Italy and Argentina rather than in Northern USA but it sure blew our minds. The house garden salad was also very good and worth it. They had nice selection of refreshments and cold beverages including local beers and wines. My husband remarked afterwards that we would come back to Houston again just to have this pizza!

Pizza was very good as was the service. Came in town to watch the Steelers play the Texans and glad we came here.

Delicious artisan pizza great ambiance and delicious desert! We had a great time and enjoyed a very good meal and a good time. Serviced by its owners, a cool young entrepreneur couple! Excelente service! Highly recommended!

This place is a gem. The pizza is amazing, the people couldn't be nicer, and the ambiance is perfect. I was sad to stop eating when I got full! We will definitely be back. The outdoor patio is cozy and inviting. Perfect for a family dinner or slice and beer with friends. Such a great addition to the Houston food scene!

Fantastic pizza! Great flavor. Dog friendly outside seating. Highly recommend can get any pizza without meat very clean and friendly

This family owned place is a hidden gem in the heart of Houston. Best pizza in town. The best portobello salad. The atmosphere is amazing. Must vome a have a bite.

I can’t say enough about this place! Best pizza in Houston, hands down. I have tried most and am very particular about quality and authenticity when it comes to pizza. Type of flour used, amount of sauce, toppings, temperature, etc. etc. I can tell you the attention to detail at Gypsy Poet is unsurpassed. The restaurant itself provides a very unique inviting ambiance that just adds to the experience. It feels part international coffee shop, part Neapolitan pizzeria, part funky boutique concert venue that welcomes the likes of local singer/songwriters. The owners are incredibly friendly and high extremely high standards, taking pride in the final product they put in front of you. Congratulations 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Stylishly decorated. You order at a counter that often should have two people. Food does get delivered and somehow they know who to deliver it to. The pizza is good by Houston standards, but does not measure up to Chicago or NYC. I would like to see them add some drafts and easier method of reordering wine and beer.

Wow - we went to this Pizza Place called ‘The Gypsy Poet’ for getting some dinner. Just to try it out because we have seen a lot of DoorDash delivery traffic. What a beautifully experience with the food. We shared a Chopped Capresse salad - Cherry Tomatoes, Basil, Arugula, Fresh Mozzarella, Parmesan with House Vinaigrette. This was an explosion of flavor... The Dream Catcher pizza was even better... Perfect crust made with Truffle Oil and well presented with Basil and Fresh Mozzarella on the site. It’s close to the pizza you will get in Napoli, Italy the only difference in Napoli the crust is thin.
Take out tonight but very cool place to eat in.
At the Gypsy Poet for another fabulous Sicilian Journey pizza. So happy to learn of this place from our musical friend Ingrid!
